Just booked in Niton

A Centrally located Coastal Retreat in the Victorian seaside resort of Ventnor, which even has its own micro climate and festival! Urban luxury, personal touches and cosy comforts ensure a memorable stay.
The Corner House is a modern and cosy cottage, with original exposed ceilings and chimney breast, reflecting the Victorian heritage of the property. The modern fully integrated kitchen has brand new units, and houses a dishwasher, fridge & washing machine. There is a cosy living and dining area, with a Chesterfield style sofa, ornamental marble fireplace, a small select library for rainy days. A small dining area and quaint courtyard for relaxing, eating or drinking The bedroom suite upstairs is designed to wow. Antique solid wooden furniture sits alongside a luxurious bed, complimented by exposed beams, chandelier lighting, and a stunning open ceiling. There are complimentary soft and fluffy towels for your use. There are beautiful stripped Victorian floorboards throughout the house, upstairs these are the backdrop for a luxurious slipper bath (with shower attachment), within the open bedroom suite (Don't worry, the toilet is behind closed doors!). Please note there is no separate shower. You'll struggle to find a bolthole with more character and style than The Corner House...
Ventnor is a beautiful town full or charm and character... "the prettiest place I ever saw in my life, at home or abroad" Charles Dickens.
  • A gorgeous little cottage, perfect for a couple (and a baby). Very clean, quiet and comfortable.

  • Such a lovely little hide away. Lovely little place in a beautiful location. The corner house was very well looked after, nicely finished and very clean! We felt well looked after arriving to chocolates and eggs in the fridge too. There was everything you needed in the kitchen to be able to cook. Great place

  • We chose The Corner House for our mini Honeymoon and could not have wished for a more appropriate escape. Our Hosts have prepared a charming and welcoming home away from home, from the ferry discount voucher to the thoughtful provision of sliced bread and essentials in the fridge (including a bottle of bubbly chilling!) to the friendly chatty neighbour to welcome you to the neighbourhood like old friends do. Particularly loved the contrast between modern-day Ventnor and it's former Victorian-days. The cottage is a step away from Ventnor's convenience stores, restaurants and seafront and central to some stunning coastal walks for all. A getaway worth having on any occasion

  • This is a really lovely place to stay, we had a great time and would suggest this as an ideal place to stay for a short break. The arrangements for the stay were really easy to follow, the owner is very helpful and there are huge amounts of things to do. Try the Ale and Oyster restaurant on the sea front - it was excellent and caters for gluten free etc with advanced notice, the Botanical Gardens were a big suprise too with guided walk - not just about plants but local history, mushroom tour and tunnels to see as well as more gluten free food. All in all a brilliant spot to stay! Thank you little Corner House

    graham2016-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • The house was clean and inviting and a little welcome pack was left. It was an accurate description and pretty easy to find. Though located in the backstreets it was very close to high street and Esplanade. A great base to explore the Island and overall good value for money

    Adrian2016-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot for a few days away, lovely little house. Everything you'd need for an easy stay.

  • As many others have said, the Corner House is in an excellent location in a beautiful place on the Isle of Wight. Communication with the host was brilliant and very easy, we had a lovely stay!

  • This place is great. It is cute and quaint. Our stay was quiet and exactly what we were after. Ventnor is a very quiet town, so if you want to spend your days exploring the Isle and relaxing in the evenings then it's the perfect spot!

  • Enjoyed a wonderful few days in this lovely quiet location , with a pretty garden and great host. The home made bread and marmalade was heavenly. The local Bundle pub provide a beautiful meal as recommended by Amy and Matt. Easy access to all the islands attractions made for a memorable holiday. Thanks Amy

  • Amy was the absolute dream of a host! She made us feel incredibly welcome and had thought of everything, including a baby bath and cot for our daughter, freshly made bread and marmalade on arrival, and lots of small vases of fresh flowers. She left lots of lovely little notes explaining things, and made our stay feel like a home from home. The annex itself is wonderfully homely and quirky. Definitely not for someone looking for a modern and sleek getaway, but we absolutely loved it for being so beautifully vintage! A large living/dining room, stunning private garden and perfectly functional kitchen and bathroom. Also, it was by far the cleanest place we've ever stayed in! Niton itself is small but perfectly formed. Very quiet but close to the coast – lovely walks directly from the annex, and only 15 mins in the car to nearby Ventnor, Shanklin etc. The only slight negative I would say is that while Amy’s annex suited us, I wouldn’t recommend this for someone who is a light sleeper, as the annex is attached to the main house, and you can hear everyday family life through the walls.

  • Amy made us feel very welcome and was responsive to our questions. She came to greet us when we arrived and before we left but also respected our privacy and left us to enjoy our stay which I am sure she sensed we desired. One of our favourite things, except the place itself was the bread, butter, oil, milk, and homemade marmalade that were there on our arrival. It was wonderful to not have to worry about those essentials. I would recommend this place to anyone with a car allowing them to tour the island, or a bicycle for exploring more locally. If the renter has neither of these things, or just desires a quiet stay away without as much touring, then this place is still perfect as it has all you would need for a quiet getaway.

    Pamela2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was such the perfect place to stay for us. We were reliving our youth at the Isle of Wight festival but felt that our camping days were over so opted to find somewhere to stay on the island. Amy has done a great job with this holiday home ensuring you have everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The feeling is retro/vintage (probably had been a granny annexe at some stage) but the quirky touches just made it more homely. It's own front door and own private cottage garden made it all the more ideal. Flowers in vases, milk and freshly made bread, a little pot of homemade chutney - Amy could not have tried harder. If you want to interact with the family you can (two adorable little blondies cleaning her car!) but this is also a very peaceful, private place to stay. Lovely area, nice local pub, all in all pretty perfect. So we got to enjoy the festival and came away with no sore backs or wet clothing! If you are looking for ultra sleek modern stay elsewhere - if you are looking for a pretty, excellently serviced home from home cottage style accommodation then look no further.

  • We all had a fantastic stay at Amy's cottage. She was a charming and most welcoming hostess. She provided us with local and homemade goodies. She was always friendly and helpful - even when we locked ourselves out of the place! We met Amy's lovely young family. The listing was entirely accurate and if anything, the cottage exceeded the listing. We would happily return and would recommend Amy's cottage to all our friends. It is a beautiful, quiet and peaceful location, but on the Isle of Wight nothing is too far away. Anyone staying here should certainly walk out to St Catherine's lighthouse. Overall, this was one of our best experiences. Many thanks, Amy, from all of us.

    Paul2016-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place for families including young children. There are no stairs, a travel cot was provided, there is a play park a ten minute walk away and Amy made us very welcome. Recommended

  • A delightful little cottage in a lovely secluded location. We had a great midweek break exploring the Island, made even better by having such a lovely cottage and great host. Thanks!

  • Big thanks to Amy for being so welcoming and providing such a comfortable place to stay. We really loved all the personal & creative touches. Highlights for us were the location (amazing walks on your doorstop & so close to Ventnor for great food), & the lounge overlooking the garden. Your home made bread & marmalade was also really lovely.

  • Fabulous apartment. As if the spectacular sea views and the proximity to the very good Buddle Inn weren't enough, the apartment is very comfortable, nicely decorated in a simple modern style, has absolutely everything you could need (including an Apple TV which was very popular with my teenagers) and the hosts were helpful and friendly. Thank you so much Catherine and Nick, we had a wonderful few days.

  • Fantastic flat with amazing space, light and incredible views over the sea, I cannot recommend this it highly enough! The first thing we noticed about the flat is how light it feels, this is from the huge windows overlooking the sea and the lovely fresh white modern décor. The entire flat is very spacious with a large separate kitchen, very large master bedroom with amazing sea views, large separate entrance/hall way, two separate bedrooms en-suite and bathroom. The photographs really do not do the flat justice in showing its size or beauty. The owner provided some lovely touches such as fully stocked tea and coffee, free Wi-Fi, cool gadgets (Apple TV, Milk warmer / Frothing machine etc.) and tasty locally made welcome biscuits! We had a fantastic week here and will definitely be returning, I don't think you could find a nicer property on the island!

  • Could not have been happier with our stay. Nick and Catherine were really welcoming, provided great directions, awesome suggestions of local activities and places to visit, and communicative throughout. The apartment was amazing. Super clean, cosy, comfortable, and incredible views out to the sea. We didn't want to leave!

  • It’s a beautiful location by lighthouse with stunning sea views. Flat is spacious and comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen. Nice touches too as there were spare toiletries if you needed. The location is at the far south of the island but nice and relaxing with a traditional pub right across the road and nice places to visit nearby.

  • This is a really comfortable and attractive family home with a lovely garden. It is arranged for young children and so would be great for a young family, but our teenage boys found it very good. Debbie was a friendly host and easy to contact. The village is very rural, but had all the facilities we needed. The Post Office was a particular find, a combination of newsagent, post office and cafe which morphs in the evening into a proper idiosyncratic local pub.

  • We had a wonderful stay. The house is really cute and restored beautifully. We felt very relaxed. Communication was excellent.

  • Justine's cottage is a fantastic place for a cosy coastal get away. It is perfect for a couple or a small family. The cottage was clean and had everything my partner and I needed. Things we especially loved included: the fire, the freestanding bath, gorgeous views of the ocean from the garden and nice little touches from Justine including molten brown toiletries and mince pies! The cottage is in a fantastic spot for walking and there are some great restaurants nearby in Ventnor (the Ale and Oyster was amazing). Overall, a highly recommended airbnb!

  • We had a really lovely peaceful time staying for a few days in the Victorian Coastal Cottage. Everything is as described and it is clean, well put together and full of affectionate touches, with a fire to sit round in the living room. Very comfortable beds and fluffy towels! I would love to come back in spring or summer as the garden - which has a bench and swing seat with a view of the sea - will be idyllic then. We did have to take care on the very steep stairs in the house and the steps in the garden, so that could be worth bearing in mind if you have older/younger people. But Justine, the host, was really responsive and put some solar lights out before we came in the addition to the lighting already in the garden. We had a good meal at the White Horse Inn in Whitwell and a spectacular seafood dinner at the Smoking Lobster in Ventnor - highly recommended.

  • Myself and my husband love the cottage, It's very peaceful. We spent our Christmas at the cottage and would love to stay again in the summer. There are stunning costal walks minutes away from the cottage. Justines is a fantastic host! Thank you so much x x

  • What a little treasure this place is. Justine accepted us very late in the day - the day before arrival - and made us feel welcome from the very start with advice on car ferries to the Island. The house itself is a perfectly formed tiny bolthole, set within a dell and tiered wild garden. Parking is a little way from the car, but it makes the descent through the garden to the entrance all the more magical. A tiny front room with a lovely big window, an efficient fireplace and logs, and a huge TV equipped with all channels and media extras you could want. Both bedrooms upstairs were simply decorated with sumptuous bed linen. I would come back to this place for sure, for a romantic get-away. It is so very quiet, and buzzards flew above us in the garden.

  • Justine went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. She was easy to contact and very fast to help.

Charming, spacious, sunny and warm, welcome to our lovely character cottage in the countryside. Nestled in the Isle of Wight's famous southern coastline with great access to the coastal walks and stunning local scenery.
Me and my family love this cottage, we bought it as a renovation project about 5 years ago and it was our family home but since moving away we now use it as our holiday home as well as letting it to guests. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do, we love the sounds of the wildlife in the sunny south facing garden and the peaceful feel of the location, as well as the cosy nights in front of the wood burners in the winter. As its our holiday home its pretty well equipped and has a very homely feel, you will find a fair amount of hand made furniture and items from around the world that we have collected from our travels. For rainy days there is Amazon Prime and Netflix available for a cosy day in. Myself, I've been running holiday lets on AirBnB for some time and hosted many happy guests, I love hosting and am always in contact to make sure everything is perfect, though usually don't get to meet guests as I live on the mainland now.
Chale is a stunning little village on the coast, around the corner from Blackgang Chine. Incredible scenery surrounds the cottage in all directions. Just around the corner is The Wight Mouse, a very well known pub/restaurant with excellent food and views all down the coast.
  • Lovely quaint Victorian cottage. Location is great - just walk up the lane behind for great sea views all the way to The Needles

  • We loved Pete’s place- it is a gorgeous quirky cottage and our 3 young children loved it here-they had a great time finding little white mouse toys which were hidden all over the house! We ended up going to Black Gang Chine every day as it’s a few mins down the road so fab location if you want to visit as you get free 7 day return with your tickets. Overall we had a lovely time and would recommend Pete’s house, perfect for families, (just be careful of main road) we will be looking to return next year :)

  • A lovely seaside cottage full of character and charm! Beautiful sunny garden and although it's on a mainish road it was very quiet. Pete has been a great host, attentive and really keen for us to enjoy our stay.

  • Pete's cottage is a cosy good value place to enjoy the Isle of Wight. It's a quiet retreat, with a great garden, and handy for the Wight Mouse pub. Steep hill Cove was lovely and we loved the Buddle Inn in Niton. Great views walking on the hill above.

    Gareth2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Pete’s home is stunning and it impressed the whole party. It was easy to find, even though we arrived in the dark late at night. It was a nice surprise to find kitchen cupboards filled with essentials so we could settle in fast and have a leisurely breakfast before venturing out the next morning. I spoke with Pete a few times before, during and after the trip; he’s a great guy and did everything right. The house is near a great pub which also went above and beyond to make us welcome and very accommodating when we arrived late for breakfast. It was pro’s and no con’s, so highly recommended.

Our best room, fabulous kingsize bed (also available as a twin - please specify) Bright and spacious; double aspect bay windows; spectacular views south over the ocean and west over the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) to The Needles. Additional pullout bed is available for a third guest or child. Ask us about our 'Volunteer Program', !
The Accommodation: We have three upstairs rooms for bed and breakfast; the St Catherine's room (looking east over the school, the badger set and a heavy horse meadow) and the Cherbourg Seaview room with its stupendous view of the channel, cliffs and The Needles. There are also some options for those who want to camp, we recently installed an extra al fresco camping washroom loo with solar lighting and the lower garden has a lovely greenroom hollowed out of the willow tree thicket. Ideal for shelter from the sun and wind or a barbecue and brazier by night. Please contact us for the prices of the different camping accommodation types, all prices can be specified when you book. The Location: We are perfectly situated for an overnight stop along the Coastal Walk around the Island, or a weekend away from the rat race on North Island (England). The Wight Mouse is a large old pub/restaurant only a couple of minutes walk away, very convenient! We love the Buddle in Niton too, good food, good vibes and some quality music at weekends. Its a ten minute drive, just over the hill at Blackgang. Or simply hire a bell tent and chill.... The Paragliding Centre: Butterfly Paragliding, the flying school and Tandem Flight centre is on site in a separate building. Please contact us if you are interested in Paragliding, this is booked and paid separately from your accommodation. Take off is within 50 metres of breakfast in the conservatory, overlooking the channel. Sea breezes often allow extended soaring flights along 16 km of cliffs, sometimes to Freshwater and back again, known as the famous "Blackgang Run". A tandem flight is a wonderful experience and you can learn a lot as you share in piloting of the craft. The Area: We are in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) on the south coast of the Isle of Wight. The "Round the Island" coast path runs right by us here; there are plenty of cycle and mountain bike routes and amazing rambles (and scrambles) too. From our garden you can access a fabulous lostland and adventure trail leading down to a very secluded beach. Abundant wildlife and flora populate the extraordinary landscape; badgers, foxes, pheasant, partridge, kestrels, buzzards, doves, cats, dogs, rabbits, gulls and peregrine falcons are seen on a daily basis including our resident chickens! Fishing off the beach has provided beautiful sea bass, mackerel, whiting and even a ten pound cod!
Chale is on the heritage coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and here at The Terrace we have just about the best spot...even views of The Needles, a popular area attraction. If you book a paragliding flight (subject to availability) you may even get a closer view from the sky!
  • This was exactly what I needed. Stunning sea views, sunsets, long cliff walks. Even fireworks at our barbeque! I didn't have a car, and buses to Chale are not frequent, but it was still doable. Meals at nearby pub are large and Chale Green PO/shop/café is 30 mins walk. Thanks to Dave, this is a special place with a sweet vibe, good for the soul.

    Annie2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, soul and owner! Got to go back there to fly my glider and surf!

    Thierry2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a great place. Super location for our coastal path overnight stop. It's an old house but chock full of character and quirkiness. Dave is a great host and we had a wonderful relaxing stay.

  • A wonderful, characterful home in a spectacularly location with a host who could not make you feel any more welcome. Cannot recommmend highly enough!

  • I can highly recommend to stay at this house especially if you like paragliding or just to stay and relax with spectacular view to the sea from your bedroom. We have stopped there for two nights and really enjoyed! Dave and Alexandra very kind and nice hosts!

    Arman2016-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Dave is a Super Guy. The property is very Heath Robinson! The breakfast help yourself. The area is Beautiful and Bonkers. Local Inn brilliant with live jazz when we were there. And the Butterfly Paragliding is a must. Have fun!

    Roma2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful again. Host, facilities, location, etc. - all perfect. Thanks, Dave & Co.

    Jag2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • You don't need to be a paraglider to enjoy the vibe here. My friend and I stayed one night whilst cycle touring, enjoying the super friendly hospitality offered by Dave and Alexandra. They even gave us a ride to and from a pub in a nearby village when the local taxis were unavailable! The house itself is overflowing with charm, with a sort of faded grandeur vibe. The setting right on the cliff top is spectacular; the beach is a short scramble away and we were lucky to see an incredible sunset from the end of the garden. In the morning we were treated to a hearty breakfast including homemade bread and eggs fresh from the hen house. On our visit the wind was too light for paragliding, but I'd definitely return to Chale to get airborne in future.

Places to eat Try the local seafood, in particular crab, lobster, haddock dishes. The vast majority of pubs are highly geared up for food and usually the portions are on the large side. • Shirley and husband were perfect hosts. They accommodated our change of time of arrival with grace and made us feel very welcome. It's a comfortable room in a lovely quiet rural location.

  • Shirley is very friendly and kindly booked a table for us at the local pub in Whitwell. The food and service there was excellent even though it was extremely busy. The prebooked breakfast was delicious and we were able to enjoy a delightful view overlooking her garden and the fields beyond.

    Roger2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed for one night, but we had a great time nonetheless. Shirley is a very nice and welcoming host. The location of the farm house is quiet and beautiful. The room was neat, clean and very charming. The breakfast that Shirley prepared for us in the little en-suite kitchenette was perfect and didn't leave anything to wish for. We'd happily stay again for longer.

A lovely old dairyman's cottage from the 17th Century, part of a cluster of old farm buildings in the small hamlet of Southford, IOW. This cottage is furnished and decorated with our higgledy piggledy vintage furniture including a totally refurbished 1950's kitchen, and as a result it has a unique, homely feel. Our downstairs has been recently refurbished and our courtyard is normally bursting with wisteria, roses, wildflowers, perennials and often soft fruit, too!
Lovely 17th century stone cottage in the hamlet of Southford. The cottage stands between Stenbury Down and Niton down and several picturesque walks begin from the farm just behind the cottage. The Undercliff, Woody Bay, Ventnor, Steephill Cove and St Lawrence are all within 10 minutes drive or 45 minutes walk for the more adventurous. The Dairy has two double bedrooms, a modern fitted bathroom and a vintage fitted kitchen. Ceramic tiled flooring throughout the downstairs and carpet upstairs. This cottage is also often a home to us, and is therefore well stocked with books, DVDs, videos and essentials in the kitchen. The downstairs of the cottage has recently been redecorated and our wonderful English Rose 1950's kitchen has been fitted. We think it looks lovely. We are keen collectors of vintage crockery and furniture. There is an original old radiogram in the living room alongside a pretty mid century sofa bed, an ercol sofa and chair, G plan sideboard and a 1930's dresser. The front bedroom contains a beautiful old washstand and bureaux and the back bedroom contains a vintage dressing table and heals 1930's beds. Overall this gives the cottage a completely unique character. We have recently restored the fireplace in the living room so you can cosy up to a log fire in the colder months. You will probably need a car to come and stay here, as we're quite a drive from the ferry and the buses are very irregular. However, if you're a keen explorer or cyclist then go for it! I often travel down on my own without the car and simply cycle or take the bus out to the cottage.
Steeped in history with 60 miles of stunning unspoilt scenery and a wealth of attractions, the Isle of Wight has something for everyone. From historic sites to natural delights, music festivals and major national events, it is a unique holiday destination. Whitwell is a pretty village approximately 5km North West of Ventnor. It is full of old stone and thatched cottages and its name comes from White Well; a place of pilgrimage during mediaeval times. The well can be found down a track opposite the church. The White Horse, our local pub, claims to be the oldest on the Island with some of its walls dating back to the 15th century. Up the road in picturesque Godshill, the Michelin rated Taverners serves fantastic local food and for something special, the Michelin starred Hamborough Hotel in Ventnor is wonderful. Ventor, or Steephill and Woody Bays are the nearest beaches to the cottage (around 5km away) but we would also recommend Small Hope Bay between Shanklin and Sandown, and Compton Bay on the West Coast.
  • A really nice welcoming cottage, a home from home and very stylish with all the vintage details! Very thoughtfully done to allow for a relaxing time. Great location too.

  • The cottage was lovely, very comfy and just as described. Lots of clean towels and bedlinen and nicely stocked kitchen cupboards. We had a lovely stay and would come back again.

  • Hi Kirsty, thank you for allowing us to stay at your lovely cottage, we all had a great time and your place was a great location for us to visit family, friends and the beautiful sites of the island. You are close enough to a lovely village where you have a local shop, pub and not far from lovely walks and beaches. Dairy cottage was very well equipped and perfect for our family of four, the sunny courtyard is just so lovely to have a few wines in the sunshine! Many thanks again for your hospitality, Sarah xx

    Sarah2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect mix of vintage meets modern. Everything you need and more in there to use as you would at home. My daughter couldn't resist doing some baking in your fabulous kitchen. We felt perfectly comfortable staying here. The local shop 'Noris' is not very local but has everything you need. It is a brilliant location for the attractions as well. A big thumbs up from us.

    Elizabeth2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great like place, very cozy with lots of retro touches. Pretty handy for Ventnor, but also easy enough to head up to Newport/Cowes, or to the west of the Island. Host was very helpful and communicative - no problems at all and felt very welcome.

    Graeme2015-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely dairy cottage was a perfect little getaway for a long weekend. Although not directly on the beach it was a perfect location for us to explore the island a little more! The Cottage itself is as described, its cute and quaint and extremely homey! We felt really welcome and loved the atmosphere of the place! We'd definitely recommend taking Kirtsy up on her hospitality, the only thing we would really say is probably best to have a car as its further to the shops then you think! We can't wait to return and use this as our little Ilse of Wight base! Audrey.

    Audrey2016-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time at your cottage Kirsty, it's like a home from home with everything you could possibly need. The house manual was brilliant, everything clearly explained so there were no issues with anything during our stay. The cottage is easy to find, very clean and wonderfully quirky. All in all a fabulous stay at your fabulous cottage and we certainly intend to come again. I am just sorry we didn't get a chance to sign the guestbook but the beds were so comfy we overslept on the last day and nearly missed our ferry home! Thanks again Kirsty, until next time :)

All you could want in a Studio flat - comfort, light, good shower and kitchen, double bed & wardrobe on mezzanine floor (steep-ish stairs, restricted head room), sofabed. Private parking, no sea view but use of large sea view garden. Peaceful, clean and well appointed.
At the back of Woodcliffe, with access to large peaceful secluded gardens with magnificent sea views.
Coastal and downland walks from the door, beaches nearby including Steephill Cove. Close to Ventnor, nestled below the Undercliff, this beautiful area offers a warm and sheltered climate - testified by the exotic outdoor plants in the nearby Ventnor Botanic Gardens. One of the few areas of England where you can still see red squirrels.
  • We had a lovely time at Woodcliffe, bryce's wife was very helpful with local knowledge and directions etc.

    jonathan2015-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Well appointed studio, close to the botanical garden. This review will contrast a bit with other's but that should give a better picture for the next people to rent it. So we were disappointed indeed because we had not realised that the studio would not be in facing the lovely garden view in the advert. Instead, it faces the block of flats and parking space that Bryce and family also rent out on their property. Not that romantic. Not romantic either to hear the neighbours conversations and the running water every time they use it. But if you spend your entire day walking and just come back to sleep, it's perfectly fine - though note that the ceiling in the sleeping mezzanine is only about 5'4, i did bang my head once.

    Celine2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed for a week in the Studio, and we had a wonderful holiday. The Studio itself is full of character, and is light and airy. It is well equipped, and very comfortable for two people. The Studio is located in a very quiet area, but it is within easy access of Ventnor and other small towns. There is a little local shop nearby, and plenty of footpaths to explore. We were made very welcome by our host, Bryce, and his partner, who were both extremely friendly and very helpful. My husband wanted to cycle around the island, and Bryce gave him his phone number, in case he had any problems. This was very much appreciated, and very well reflects the approach Bryce has towards his guests. I highly recommend this listing, and we intend to return when we can!

    Gisela2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described, we had a great time in the Studio, the location could not be better for visiting the south of the island. Great hosts, easy, professional, no-nonsense hospitality. St Lawrence won the "Best kept village" in 2016. Peaceful and so close to Ventnor Botanical Gardens. Back in London now and we are already thinking of going back in the Autumn...

    Andrea2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Once we were settled in, we were greeted by Bryce's wife and she made us feel very welcome and reassured us that if we needed anything, to not hesitate to contact them (other than the request for a hairdryer, we had already been provided with everything we needed). A nice little studio in a beautiful setting. The only point I would make (and even though mentioned in the listing description) if you are tall and have back problems (as I do) then the low height ceiling in the bedroom area combined with the steep stairs is not suitable for you as this caused a lot of restrictions when walking up and down at night, so I did end up sleeping on the sofa-bed downstairs for the rest of my stay here, for easy access to the bathroom during the night.

    Umisha2015-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely love this place! Clean and self catering, 3.5 km from Ventnor with some beautiful coastal walking tracks. Has all the condiments you could require and is minimally but nicely decorated. The loft is fantastic, I love the bed, I slept peacefully . The heating is great and easy to use. I took the taxi for 5£ from Ventnor and walked into town every day. Bring your own shampoo and toiletries, which I did anyway. A wonderful stay in a beautiful studio I would gladly come again!! :) Maria

    Maria2017-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • I had a really relaxing time in the Studio. It was very clean and had all the essentials for cooking as well as towels for showering. I didn't spend too much time in during my stay as I wanted to explore the area but it was nice to come back after a long days walking to relax on the sofa with the door open to let in the last of the sunlight. I think this is perfect for an individual or couple who want somewhere peaceful to rest during their stay on the Isle of Wight. The area is perfect for walking with the beautiful coastal path right on the door step. I will definitely return

  • Quiet, beautiful private garden and very close to the beach, about a fifteen minute walk. The kitchen has everything you need and the whole place is comfortable and very very clean. Thank you very much, we thoroughly enjoyed it and so did the dogs :-)

  • We stayed in Petit Tor for three nights at the end of June and thoroughly enjoyed it. From the first email inquiry to arriving at the accommodation everything was handled efficiently and professionally. The accommodation is first class and is newly decorated with everything included that you could need to a short stay. The location is great, although Ventor is very hilly so be prepared for some uphill walks back after a walk into town or to the beach. Susie and John were great hosts and have obviously put a lot of effort into getting everything right with their accommodation. we thoroughly recommend it and will say again if we return to Ventnor.

The property is small but cosy and ideal for a couple or couple plus two young children (there is a bunk bed room). With its charming thatch-roofed cottages and winding main street lined with tearooms, Godshill is the quintessential English Village. Travelling South to Wroxall there's the Donkey Sanctuary and Appuldurcombe House now offering Owl and Falconry displays. Visit Chale Green Deli and Coffee shop and on to the Southern most tip of the Island St Catherine's with its ancient Pepperpot. Ventnor Botanic Garden provides a lovely walk and then lunch at their very successful café. Walking There are coastal paths around the Island and this section features the Isle of Wight's famous chines. Whale Chine is the most spectacular in a series of Chines along this stretch of coastline. Devil's Chimney provides an exciting walk through enchanted woodland down to the beach; Chale Bay is stunning; Wealdon Beds which have yielded fossilized remains of dinosaurs. With features like St Catherine's Lighthouse many feel this section offers the best walking and views of the entire Isle of Wight. Beach Life Sandown and Shanklin on the south-east coast share a wide crescent of golden sand, with safe swimming, water sports and a range of bars, pubs and cafés. The southern stretch, below Shanklin Chine, is the quietest and most attractive. Ventnor has a wonderful Mediterranean light and, like Sandown and Shanklin, an enviable sunshine record. Steephill Cove is its prettiest beach, a peaceful little bay with a good beach café. Reach it via the coastal footpath from the Botanic Gardens, or La Falaise car park in Ventnor. Places to eat Try the local seafood, in particular crab, lobster, haddock dishes. The vast majority of pubs are highly geared up for food and usually the portions are on the large side. Fresh crab in particular can be tasty from beachside cafe's and can also be purchased from the fisherman at seafood huts selling direct, two places spring to mind: Ventnor Fresh Crab Beach Hut and a fisherman's house at Steephill Cove next to the café.
