“This is a bit of a hidden gem in NYC, set physically and aesthetically away from the noise of Times Square. If you're into the Middle Ages, or calming spaces, this will be a favorite.”

History Museum
“Explore the historic (and enormous) aircraft carrier, nearly 30 vintage planes on the flight deck, a guided missile submarine, and the space shuttle Enterprise. The Exploreum on the hangar level is full of interactive fun for kids like climbing into a helicopter and steering the wings of a plane. Save time and lines by buying tickets online in advance and be forewarned: many enticing exhibits, guided tours, and the space shuttle pavilion require extra fees. However, there is plenty to do without the extras. The Intrepid is best suited to older children who can appreciate the history. There is lots of walking, much of it outdoors, so sunscreen and hats are advisable. The best way to get here is the #50 crosstown bus headed west, which brings you right to the door. ”

“Previously an old school, this was bought by MoMa and turned into a contemporary art museum. Pro tip - if you’re here in the summer check out MoMa PS1 Warm up. It’s a day party every Saturday in the outdoor courtyard featuring different musicians/dj’s, with beer and wine vendors, and you can also stroll in and out of the museum as you please. ”

“If you are bringing kids to Jersey City and want a break from going into the city, bring them here. It's easy to get to by train (Hudson Bergen Light Rail), Uber, or car (there's parking). Lots of activities for grade school and middle aged kids, and there's a gated play area for the younger kids. IMAX movies are usually cool.”
