“Among Nafplio's most sophisticated restaurants, guests come here for the status – and visitors after Greek fare will need to head elsewhere. Its focus? High-end meats. Think the likes of Australian waygu, Dutch veal, American Black Angus steaks, New Zealand grass fed tenderloin. But with that, high end prices.”

“"Vouleftiko" took its name, because here was the first Greek parliament (Vouli in Greek). From the autumn of 1825 until the spring of 1826, Vouleftiko -which had been formed in the meantime by the architect Vallianos- housed the first ever Greek Parliament. Hence the name of Vouleftiko, known and so called until today. The building then operated serving several purposes: it housed the Greek School, the ground floor was a prison, and here the Trial of the Chieftains of the Greek Revolution took place, of Th. Kolokotronis and D. Plapoutas. Today, at the ground floor, you will see the Municipal Gallery exhibiting the work of Greek artists.”

“For a break from Greek cuisine, go Italian(ish). Scuola ('school' in Italian) teaches the locals, especially the younger crowd, a thing or two about good cuisine. Its quirky interior comprises a classroom setting, complete with a blackboard and books. Pasta and pizza with Greek twists break all the rules. Don't miss the pizza gyros (meat slithers cooked on a vertical rotisserie). And for dessert? Put up your hand for the sweet pizza with chocolate. “One of several excellent new spots in the 'new town' frequented mainly by locals who might steer clear of those in the more touristy 'old town'. This lovely taverna serves excellent Greek fare at fair prices. It's warm and lively, and you'll smell the aromas before you spot it. Select from a huge range of appetisers, but leave room for the main meals, the likes of chicken with Roquefort and pork with lemon. “The only 'true' gelato shop in Nafplio is still holding back the competition.
