“This is a fascinating step back in time. Built in 1879-1881 this gaol was designed by local colonial architect James Barnett and was the first of the Australian designed gaols. The bricks were made from local clay and the bluestone was transported from Victoria. The gaol has an escape free record and has some interesting stories to be read. A great way to amuse yourself or the kids for an hour or two.”
