We are only 1 mile away from Idyllwild Arts Academy. We sit on a secluded, unpaved dirt road that is perfect for walkers and hikers. There is forest on the immediate west side for exploring and an additional area for an easy hike at the end of the road. Also, the Strawberry Creek is close by, where the beautiful "Grotto" is accessible by foot.
  • The cottage is cozy and comfortable and the tiki room is truly a unique space that makes this wonderful Airbnb 10 notches above the rest! Every part of the space is clean and well-decorated. The hosts M&M are very thoughtful and easy to communicate with. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would be thrilled to stay again the next time we're in Idyllwild!

  • This place is perfect if you're looking for a cozy, pretty cabin experience with a funky twist. The tiki bar is so much fun. From the select CDs playing random music to the wonderful eclectic decoration, the tiki bar is what makes this Airbnb a great deal and a unique experience. Cabin was warm. The instant coffee and electric kettle are great touches. Very thankful for the bookmarked your guide to idyllwild and the adventure pass for hiking. The toilet churning is no big deal and it was great to be able to bring my pup. Very comfortable experience.

  • This was a wonderful place and the host was marvelous. We stayed for 2 nights and this was everything they said it would be. !We brought food and goodies to (URL HIDDEN) would be nice to have a kitchen to use. But, we managed and we did not complain. I want to go back next year. Thank you so much for everything! Everything was just right! Ms. Iris Adams

  • My fiancé, our pup and I absolutely loved our stay at M&M's place. It's even more adorable and unique in person and we were so impressed with how dog-friendly the experience was. Mary was very helpful and communicative, making our stay so easy and stress-free. The cabin is clean, warm and had every amenity we could possibly need. We would love to return one day.. definitely a hidden gem!

    Jessica2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time. The cabin was cozy and well-stocked with everything we needed, and the tiki treehouse was the coolest. The location is beautiful and secluded, but only a short drive from town. We didn't get to meet our hosts, but they were very hospitable, extremely communicative and provided us with everything we needed. This is a great couple's getaway, we'll definitely be back!

    Adam2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • We met Mary when we got there, and she was very nice and respectful of our privacy. We didn't see her for the rest of the time, but she let us know she was available if we needed anything.

  • What a beautiful, unique little retreat! I stayed two nights to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, and this was perfect. The last 30 miles or so of the drive up there was an extra surprise with many great photo opportunities along the way - and a great adventure in itself. The cabin was cute, cozy, clean, and my little dogs and I felt immediately at home and peaceful. Thank you for sharing your treehouse with us! I hope to return in the future!

  • We loved our stay in the Casita! Everything was just as described, with lots of little details to make us feel at home. (Coffee, breakfast in the fridge, some bonus puppy snuggling...) Les was very friendly and replied immediately to any inquiry. I would definitely recommend this little spot for anyone coming to Idyllwild... especially if you are here to hike; the Deer Spring trailhead is just up the road.

    Sara2015-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Les was extremely flexible with my ever changing arrival time. No worries at all. He met me downtown and I followed him up to the little casita trailer. The casita was clean and darling. I really enjoyed it. Breakfast supplies including fresh eggs- although I didn't use them- were a nice touch. The little patio is precious.

  • The casita is an awesome way to spend your stay in Idyllwild. It was close to town, gave you a comfortable outdoor experience and had all the amenities you need. Cheri was great at communicating everything and available if you needed anything.

    Rachel2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • What's not to love about this mountain casita? It's the perfect way (and place) to escape the city. My boyfriend and I fell in love with our experience in Idyllwild, including everything about our Airbnb! Cheri is such a great host!

    Rochelle2016-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cheri's place is absolutly wonderfull. She dideverything to make me feel welcome after a long trip from Amsterdam. For me it was the hub to go to the Desert Trip for 3 days. And although it was an hour and 25 minutes drive in the middle of the night to get back, it was great to wake up every morning in her back yard. I would recommed this to everyone if you are in the area.

    Gerard2016-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet and peaceful. You can hear cars go by in the distance, but they are few and not obstructive. Watch your head going in and out of the front and bathroom doors. In the hot weather, I was very thankful for the working air conditioner. Cheri is a very good host.

    Jeff2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • First, Cheri was warm and welcoming. Very helpful, a perfect host, really. Her Mountain Casita was clean and cozy and is nestled within beautiful forest surroundings. Really enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the outdoor furniture that really helps you take in all this cozy stay and environment has to offer. Fun getaway to Idyllwild and hope to visit her Mountain Casita again!

    Paul2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • I was greeted like family when I arrived. Les texted me to let me know I could come and check in an hour early if I wanted and after a long hike in very hot weather, the timing was perfect. He had a bowl of cold sliced watermelon for me! Les also texted me to make sure I arrived back safe from my hike the following day as well. The place was immaculate and had everything I needed. The snacks in the fridge were a plus. They also had information about the area for hiking, eating, and/or shopping... I even received excellent recommendations for places to dine in the area. The outside seating area was ideal for relaxing, reading and stargazing. Thanks you Les and Cheri for making me feel welcome in your perfect little home and allowing me to come back to reality refreshed and renewed!

    Idyllwild Mountain Casita
    200 reviews
This lovely home sleeps four. Super comfortable laid back environment with an updated kitchen and bathroom. Relax on the porch and breathe in the fresh pine air. You'll find the quiet soothes your every worry away... The house is on a fenced half acre so your dog will have as much fun as you! Walk a few blocks and you have all the conveniences of a most friendly and quaint town center. Restaurants, a movie theater, coffee shop, health food and grocery stores, pizza place, post office, art studios...you'll find it all within walking distance. Walk just a block further and make your way down to Strawberry Creek. And of course there are walks and hikes and mountain biking trails all close by. Tahquitz Peak, Lilly Rock, Suicide Rock. There's a Ranger Station just a few blocks down the road for hiking tips or you can check out the nature center as well for trail guides. There is Fulmor Lake to play in or fish, or rent a boat on Hemet Lake just a 15 minute drive. So much to explore in this beautiful enclave! The house has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, the other with two twin beds. The attic is carpeted and comfy for kids to play in. There are some fun board games downstairs. And lots of videos too which you can watch on the tv up in the attic while you lounge on a beanbag chair... We want to mention that we don't have AC. A few folks have been disappointed about that so we want to make a point about that. We do have two fans, and we find that if we open the windows in the evening it always cools down usually into the 50's or 60's at night. But for those of you that really enjoy having the AC on, this probably isn't the spot for you! This is our fairly new home away from home, so it's still a bit of a work in progress.. But nevertheless, it is equipped with the basics and it's a comfortable and lovely spot for low maintenance types who are content with the simple things in life! (i.e. no cable tv...though we do now have internet service!) We want to be as flexible as possible with our check in/out times as well, and if we don't have other guests checking in or out we are happy to accommodate early check-in times... But in many circumstances we will need to adhere to our 3PM check in and 12PM check out times...Thank you!! (During the Holidays we generally stick to a three day minimum stay. We do consider one night rentals, but generally we don't book those far in advance. If your trip is over a week away, we usually ask for a two night minimum, but if it's coming up soon and our place is available we're happy to rent for one night! Thanks for understanding!)
We love that we can walk to town! We are so close to the shops and restaurants, yet still immersed in nature.
  • An absolutely delightful cabin. No criticisms at all. Can't wait to come back.

    Luke2013-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was just as described! A wonderful cozy cabin a short walk from the village. The large yard was fenced so our 2 furry "kids" (dogs) could run around while we drank wine on the desk. Looking forward to our next stay here!

    phil2015-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • The home is indeed beautiful and cozy. It's also a short walk to downtown Idyllwood. Great place to escape for a few days... very highly recommended!

  • Idylwild is paradise and Alix and Johnnys log cabin is the perfect place to stay in whilst there, you can walk into town but remember to talk the torch with you if you're coming home after dark ;) The house is lovely, well decorated and clean with big comfy beds and lots of fluffy towels and storage space for all our clothes etc. As the guys say, it's a work in progress, so things like wine glasses are limited, we purchased plastic cups in town first. The town is full of wonderful nick nack shops, it was hard to drag my mother away lol we even saw iron man 3 in the fantastic local picture house which has dolby surround sound and lots of lovely helpful staff, great night out. Higher grounds serves great proper coffee and has free wifi, as the house does not as yet and most of the food establishments will not disappoint, the guys tips in the welcome pack are worth following :) If you do go to any of the local picnic/beauty spots you'll need to buy a permit before you go, THEY DO NOT SELL THEM IN THE CAR PARKS, so check before you set off.

  • Alix and Johnny's place was the perfect place to stay for my girlfriend's birthday. Easy to find and cozy, this house was walking distance to town, full of great, small business shops and eats. The house was perfect to take the dogs with us, with the huge, fenced in yard and beautiful surroundings. Cafe Aroma is a must, just a short drive from the house with live music, great vibes, and amazing Italian food & wine! We would definitely stay here again and will be back to visit this charming town soon!

    Jackson2013-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I decided we would go on a last minute trip to Idyllwild and found this great house at a good price. The home is very cozy, but with plenty of room for friends or family. We loved the short walk into town, the short drive to Humber Park and of course, the fireplace. We would recommend this house for a romantic getaway, a family vacation or a friends gathering. Enjoy!

    Alex2015-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • My 2 sons and I stayed here, what a beautiful retreat into the mountains. We had everything we needed and more. The local town is about a seven minute walk and it's very cool, there's so much to explore there. The town has everything you need, including a grocery store, with reasonable prices! We had a really great stay and would definitely come again. Thank you Alix & Johnny, you are great hosts! Patty, Sam and Matt

My place is a quiet lovely little place in Pine Cove about 2 miles from Idyllwild town. It is a beautiful little romantic place with its own little deck to have coffee on and the short drive to Idyllwild has some beautiful view. If you enjoy fishing Lake Fulmor is just up the road. This property has 2 cabins on it
  • Stayed at Kathy's place for a night, very neatly maintained property!

    Virginia2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, romantic, clean, great communication, and an all around awesome place. We had a great time and hope to return soon.

    Steve2017-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Will definitely come back! We've been coming to Idyllwild for years and this was our first time ever booking a cabin. The cabin was very comfortable and cute. The surrounding yard is very spacious, peaceful and green. Very close to the bakeries and restaurants that we love. Kathy was super nice and sweet! Listing was very accurate, we were not dissapointed in any way. Thank you for such an awesome experience!

    Maxine2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • AGAIN.... AMAZING little place! You just can't get better than this cabin and location! So cozy and peaceful. We wish it was ours!! Very clean and has all the necessities. The owners are amazing, as usual. Can't wait to go back!!

    Marla2016-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • It is a nice little cabin about 2.5 miles away from the town. Very quiet and relaxing in the woods. We enjoyed our stay there.

    Vivian2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fine time at the cabin, which is a lovely space that feels very tucked away. We even saw coyotes! The place was as we pictured but did have some issues. It was quite hot at times, and we knew there was no AC but we expected a fan. We were awakened quite a few times by an animal scratching around in the attic, but hopefully that will be resolved soon. As others have mentioned, you are right near Kathy's other airbnb, so if it is booked you are in close quarters and better hope they are quiet! We didn't overlap much so it worked out for us. The porch is a lovely place to eat and read on a nice day. If you have time, go to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and go for a gorgeous hike when you get to the top!

    Liza2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Kathy's place was just as expected. Clean and inviting with a great kitchen, clean bathroom, and nice bed. The view in the area is fantastic and close to trails and the nature center. We would recommend staying at this place and we will definitely be back!

    Grady2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • A quiet location a couple of miles outside Idyllwild, and a large yard area ideal for dogs. Cabin seems new inside, complete with cable and wi-fi. If we find ourselves in the area again we'll certainly book again!

  • Fabulous location near the Arts Academy, very nice cabin, and lovely hostess!!!!!

    Sandra 2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • This little cabin was the perfect cozy spot for our weekend away in Idyllwild. Ishay couldn't have been a better host--she was beyond welcoming and gracious about helping us to get around, giving recommendations, showing us the best cafes and trails, and even joining us for a wonderful breakfast. Can't wait for next time!

    Katherine2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at this cabin was delightful in every way. The cabin was much more spacious than anticipated w a full kitchen and dining area, large bedroom, very comfortable bed, and everything you could need. Ishay was very sweet and even made us a traditional Turkish dish upon our arrival. The location was perfect for accessing Idyllwild. Lots of trees and a nice outdoor sitting area. I would definitely return.

    Joseph2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Ishay is a very nice hostess--very warm and hospitable. Her home is in a lovely location--off the beaten path, but still near town. It is located near ISOMATA (Idyllwild Arts), so one can hear students practicing their musical instruments in the afternoon and it has easy access to the campus. The "room" where I stayed is located above the garage. Since the garage is used for storage, there are no vehicles going in and out, which makes for a quieter experience. The place has a full kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishes, silverware, pots and pans, and utensils. There is a small deck area outside the front door where there is a table and seating, which is nice for doing work while enjoying the pines and outdoor environment. The queen bed is quite comfortable. The windows look out on either the street or a small "courtyard" with a fountain that attracts birds or into the forest at the side of the property. The place does not have air conditioning, but a fan helps keep things cooler. The driveway has a fairly steep angle, so vehicles with low clearance should enter and exit at an angle or they may scrape the pavement. Overall, I enjoyed my stay very much and definitely recommend Ishay's place.

    Phylene2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ishay was a great host, providing us with a warm welcome and all we needed to know about the cabin and surrounding. The house was exceptionally clean, comfy and equipped with everything needed for a pleasant stay. Thanks for having us, Ishay! Next time, come climb up Tahquitz peak with us ;)

    Katharina2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely front guest house in super quiet neighborhood. Full kitchen, dining area, a bedroom area divided by a partition and bathroom. Perfect size for a couple's weekend getaway. Five min drive to downtown Idyllwild with all the restaurants and bakeries. About 10 min drive to some of the great trails. Ishay was a wonderful host. She came to open the room when we arrived and recommended some trails. Truly enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

    Saori2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is spacious, with enough amenities for a comfortable stay. We stayed there for 5 days, and we were able to cook in the kitchen, eat at the wonderful dining table and chat sipping wine on the love seat. The bedroom can be separated if you like with the partition and is very comfortable. Ishay is a wonderful host who made us feel welcome straight away. We had a chance to see her and have wonderful Turkish tea, and cold fruits and have a great conversation on couple of occasions. Even though there was construction activities going on in the streets (which was beyond Ishay's control), Ishay was very helpful with offering us with a complimentary night's stay for our inconvenience. If we am ever back near the area again, we know where we are staying.

    Abhishek2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at this cabin near the Idyllwild Music Camp. There are bicycle trails, restaurants and hiking nearby and we were able to ride our bikes to all. The Idyllwild Brewery was a welcome surprise. The cabin is clean and has all of the amenities we needed. There is a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, sink, and oven, living room, and separate bedroom. The bathroom is large with a walk in closet and furniture for extra clothing storage. The area is mostly quiet and very scenic.

  • This cabin was fantastic. It was spacious but cozy, and had the most amazing view of Idyllwild from the back porch that I've ever seen. The interior and decor made you feel like you were in a rustic, charming, cabin in the woods. We would definitely recommend staying here.

The Indigo Buffalo Cabins: Dolly Cabin - Built in the mid 50s, this cabin embodies the resonance of creativity. Dolly has music in her soul and invites you to embark on a nostalgic journey through a few records, cassette tapes, and CDs. We encourage our guests to reconnect with nature (and each other), thus are no TVs in this cabin. (Yes, there's WiFi for your mobile devices.) Fantastic location close to town; walk to shops and dining! We hope you enjoy Idyllwild!

If you're looking for a restorative spark of creativity or just plain relaxation, Dolly might be the ticket for you! Please note: 3 night minimum requirement for Thanksgiving & Christmas.
Idyllwild is an eclectic artist community filled with adventurers, musicians, and artists from all walks and threads of life. One of the best things about this place is how nice the locals are - this is a place that genuinely cares about its people and guests on "The Hill" (as Idyllwild is affectionately called by locals). There are a number of great dining spots. Our top faves are: Ferro's, Cafe Aroma, The Gastrognome, Fratellos, La Casita, Idyllwild Pizza, Idyll-a-While, Idyology, and Idyllwild Brewpub. Many of these places offer live music and are in walking distance from the property. There's also a local winery that offers tastings located in the middle of town called Middle Ridge Winery. We are a short drive to all trailheads and climbing spots. Weather is known to change on a dime, so please check forecast prior to coming up.

  • Our hosts made us feel very welcome. We very much enjoyed our stay. The room was very private, and, when we went in the main house for breakfast, Barbara and Dan were very welcoming and gracious. The food was delicious, both the breakfast and sweet treats that had been left in our room. Even though we booked at the last minute, Barbara kindly accommodated a special diet request.

    Laura2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara was very prompt in communicating and she and Dan were excellent hosts. We were greeted with a Happy Anniversary welcome on our door, homemade sweet treats, and hot cocoa upon our arrival. Barbara made a lovely hot breakfast our first morning and made sure we were well fed the next morning as well. Our room was cozy and the separate entrance was great so that we didn't disturb anyone with our comings and goings. The neighborhood was very quiet and the abundance of mountain air, views, and nature was so lovely and a blessing indeed.

  • Barbara and Dan are a lovely couple and easy to talk to. They made us feel very welcome in their house. We enjoyed a nice breakfast together with some advise about hiking opportunities in the area. We slept well in the cosy and quiet room in the basement of the house. TV and heater were working well.

  • We had a magical stay at Barbara and Dans house. They are a lovely couple and their home is so cosey. Perfect place for a peaceful weekend. Thank you for catering to my special dietary needs barbara, much appreciate.

  • We had a great stay at Barbara's place. The room was nice and cozy and it was perfect for our hiking weekend getaway. Barbara's homemade breakfast was lovely.

  • This is probably one of my top 5 fave Airbnb to stay in. It's really a great area for a restful getaway or for an adventure. We needed something last minute due to our change of plans and we had a quick and easy booking. The place is exactly as described and more. The bed is comfy and shower is hot. Honestly, the breakfast is a great added touch. Thanks for the baked goods as well when we checked in! Hope to come back here again in the future.

The Owl Pine is an original carriage house built in 1922 on an epic, park-like two acres on Strawberry Creek. Located on the upper end of Idyllwild’s historic district steps from Café Aroma/Idyology, it's an easy 10 min. walk to the village (or hike along the creek trail from the yard). Surrounded by nature+towering trees+stars, it's magic. Loft bedroom, native rock fireplace, interesting art & vintage record collection/player. Perfect for 1-2 guests (can sleep up to 4). Instagram @TheOwlPine.
Upcoming Town Event: Annual Idyllwild Christmas Tree Lighting Saturday November 25 in the village square w/ lighting ceremony, singing, festivities (it snowed last year!) Idyllwild (population 3,870 / elevation 5,413’) is known for fresh air and mountain vistas. The carriage house stands near the original summer house (our full-time residence) and shares a circle driveway and paths that crisscross the property. We also offer a camping experience on one corner of our property featuring a vintage 1955 Trail Chief pop-up for 1-2 guests. You can read camp reviews on Hipcamp, book it via Airbnb or send us an inquiry. A cool option for two couples or a small family is to book both the carriage house and Camp Owl Pine for an amazing stay. The entire property is two acres that have been undeveloped for almost 100 years with an unparalleled landscape of boulders, pine, oak, cedar, fir, redwood, manzanita, holly, etc. Discover seasonal roses, sweet peas, wild strawberries and more. The land is magical. Watch deer (a family of 2-8 regularly traverse property), squirrels, woodpeckers, jays, hawks, lizards, etc. Listen to the crunch of leaves as you walk original rock paths (circa 1920s) down to Strawberry Creek. Listen to the sound of live music from neighboring Café Aroma, star gaze, collect pinecones, forage wild mint, smell the dirt, commune with nature, enjoy being alive. General adventuring encouraged. San Jacinto mountain highlights include world-class rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding. Idyllwild is also a hub for hikers along the 2,600 mile Pacific Crest Trail. Note: We recommend two nights to properly unplug and enjoy the property/surrounding nature. House Essentials: -Interior features eclectic/modern décor + interesting art -Vintage Marantz turntable/amp/records -1960s Royal typewriter (made in Holland) + paper -Hand-finished straw/plaster walls -Wood plank loft ceiling with stain glass windows -Wood burning rock fireplace (one bundle of complementary wood is provided at the house) plus high efficiency gas stove for heat -Ceiling fans -Galley kitchen with Heartland gas range, stainless steel under counter freezer + glass door refrigerator (w/ a handful of sparkling water to enjoy), fire extinguisher -Le Creuset pans, cooking utensils, dishes, drip coffee maker (2 cup size) -Pantry items - extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, S+P, organic sugar, tea, hot cocoa -Bathroom includes shower, linens, hair dryer & laundry closet -Loft bedroom with king Tempurpedic bed -Flashlight for night hikes -Books/Games (cards, dominos, puzzles, backgammon, Ouija board, Scrabble) -WiFi -Open patio with picnic table -No phone, no microwave and no TV (it's against the laws of nature, ha!) -Please note, Idyllwild is surrounded by protected forest and is located in a high risk fire zone. It's such a bummer to see trash in places you expect to see leaves, dirt, rocks, etc. Please be thoughtful while exploring the surrounding mountains and hike out your garbage. Here at the property, trash/recycling can be left in the bins and is simply collected by housekeeping upon departure.
  • This place is an amazing find in Idyllwild! Convenient and walking distance to a bunch of restaurants and bars. We ended up spending most nights in cooking dinner with the adorable stove and top rated cooking utensils. Our favorite part of the stay had to have been the record player and great selection of records.

    Monique2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Owl Pine is close to just about anything you might need to access effortlessly on a vacation - for us- that is great hiking trails , a variety of different restaurants with great live music and wonderful food- and at the same time - the peace and sense of seclusion we needed. Sitting on the deck ,drinking a lovely bottle of red wine ,listening to music and playing board games as about 6 young deer slowly walked over the property , before heading out to enjoy dinner just a short walk away . Perfect !

Cozy studio cabin, perfect for getaways great for Solo travelers, and couples. We love this cabin for its cozy comfort. It's perfect for just chilling out with someone, or by yourself. It's a perfect little get away. But if you need more space check out our other listing GlampIdy Emerald Cabin.
Cozy and welcoming, walking distance to town.
Quite neighborhood, although we are not in the heart of town we are close in proximity and there are businesses close by.
  • We absolutely loved staying here. My boyfriend and I come up to Idyllwild at least once a year from San Diego and have stayed in many cabins. This one was by far the most thoughtful. There are so many nice touches to help make the stay comfortable and seamless. Jen was very nice and very quick to respond to questions. The fireplace was amazing and kept us warm all throughout the night in winter weather. The bed was also very comfortable. We really didn't want to leave and even considered trying to stay an extra night (but it was booked). We are so happy to have found this cabin in our favorite town in the mountains. We will definitely be back again. Thanks for making our stay lovely. ❤

  • This was such a cozy place! Unfortunately we had to leave quickly in the middle of the night due to an emergency but the stay was great while it lasted!

    Brenn2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great little hideaway! Close to hiking, food, and other amenities. The Deer Springs trailhead (which leads up to Suicide Rock and other great hiking trails) is less than a mile from the cabin. The room had two USB charging ports near the bedside table which turned out to be a great surprise for me since I forgot my AC adapter at home. Jennifer was also nice enough to leave the AC on for me right before I checked in since it was hot outside.

    Chuck2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute-as described. Close to downtown area and yet very quiet. It felt very remote in a weekday.

  • We wish we could give the "Little Cabin" 10 stars! It is so adorable and cozy. Jenn put so much thought and care into it! There are so many little details that we just loved. A perfect place, a perfect town, and a perfect host. Thank you so much!!

    David2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's little cabin was the perfect place to stay in Idyllwild! My husband and I had the best time hanging out inside and around the cabin, and with a short walking distance to town it was perfectly located. It was delicately decorated and had a toaster, coffee maker, water heater and fridge in the kitchen and a small gas grill outside. And then there was all the small things, like snacks, toiletries etc. she'd put out. It really makes a difference. She answered us immediately if we had questions. All in all a great place and a great host! I highly recommend this for a couples stay in beautiful Idy!

  • We greatly enjoyed out 2-night stay at Idyllcove. The cabin itself was adorable. Kelly did a great job checking in on us via text to see if we needed anything and to be sure that everything was in order. Idyllcove has a good location in a quiet neighborhood. We were able to walk to breakfast and town from the house. We absolutely loved relaxing on the back patio. The fenced yard was also great - our dogs had a blast exploring in the back yard.

    Lindsey2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • I have nothing but good things to say about this place - it was a fabulous little cabin in the woods. Everything was so well thought out and I felt like it was our own little home for the week that we were there. I highly recommend this cabin and can guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

  • Really great getaway. This place has everything you need and more. Clean, comfortable, with wifi, Netflix, stove, BBQ, fenced in yard for the pups, and best of all hot tub for star gazing. Can't wait to come back and highly recommend.

  • We got in Sunday night, the cabin was easy to find, clean and cozy.. super happy the jacuzzi was ready to go as well. Went to Idyology for dinner and came back for a soak, so wonderful. Slept comfortably in the loft bed, waking up with a view of the trees was lovely. Got up early the next morning to check out the parks and explore. Went for coffee/breakfast at Idyllwild Bakeshop and Brew and it was a perfect stop on our way to the Nature Center. After a bit of hiking and exploring came back for an afternoon hot tub soak. The back deck is peaceful and the fenced yard was perfect for our dogs. We didn't want to leave, sure most people don't. Will definitely stay here again asap.

Do you like being pampered and spoiled when on vacation? Do your dogs too? :-) I know I do, so I made sure I designed a getaway that would give my guests that experience. I paid close attention to all the details like an incredibly comfortable recliner, the mounted TV that extends fully to view from all areas of the room, the plush beds and bedding, the selection of sleeping pillows, and the drawers and cabinets filled with “oops, I forgot or ran out” items. The 1/2 acre yard is a dog paradise!
IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE: 10% occupancy tax (that gets sent to Riverside County) will be added to the price after booking. Two dogs maximum in the home (included in the rate) 3rd dog considered. Dog rules are listed in the house rules. Weekly discount 25% Monthly discount 40% Security deposit - $300 If The Little House is full you may want to book one of my other designed and managed 5 star homes at airbnb.com/rooms/11770906 & 19924620. This charming, totally unique, bright and sunny 1955 cabin is fully refurbished and designed by me, Melissa, the owner and long time Idyllwild resident/artist/teacher. It is very upscale, clean and well stocked. This cozy little 550 square foot “Little House” is filled with my art and has a post modern-industrial-chic feel. The nearly 1/2 acre backyard is completely fenced and private in a very quiet neighborhood. The space works well for one to two people, couples or a small family (including the family dog!). It is also the perfect place for entertaining on the two decks (as long as the noise level stays respectful to the neighbors). Important to note: You will feel cozy and warm in the winter and cool in the summer due to our brand new state of the art HVAC unit. In addition, the warmth from the wood burning stove and ceiling fans will help too. High definition smart TV providing Netflix, and many other internet applications. Cable is also available with over 120 channels. Free WIFI, an assortment of books and games are available also. Well stocked kitchen and bathroom if you ran out or forgot something. Some wood provided free of charge to enjoy the wood burning stove.
Beautiful hikes and mountain biking from easy to difficult are close by. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, close to everything (but it’s Idyllwild, everything is close!). We have a recommendation list available at The Little House. No parties please, but having some friends over to barbecue or enjoy a beverage on the deck(s) is fine. Our neighborhood is very quiet and has some full time owners who would not appreciate the noise. Please observe extra quiet hours from 10 pm to 8 am.
  • This place is truly a gem--we had an absolutely wonderful time! Our stay in Idyllwild was a bit more stressful and demanding than expected, and Melissa's "Little House" was a cherished oasis every day. The love put into this place is clear in the attention to detail--the art, the furniture, the stocked(!) kitchen & bar, the outdoor spaces & lighting, the helpful little notes to guests. Enjoying a hot cup of coffee on the back deck while our overjoyed dog explored the expansive backyard was a treat, as was curling up in front of the fire with a book and a beverage. We felt at home from the moment we walked in, and felt fortunate every day to be staying here. We can't wait to return.

    David2017-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • My sister and I had a wonderful stay at the “little house.” You can see the care and attention to detail Melissa has put into the house, from the warm color palette throughout, the high-end finishes and hardware, to the original artwork that complements the home so well. Melissa has created an atmosphere that is comfortable and welcoming, like being invited to a friend’s home, yet with the amenities of a 5 star boutique hotel. Whether it’s basic supplies or little extras you may have forgotten, you’ll find them stocked in the little house. The house is in a quiet neighborhood near town, and my sister’s dog loved running around the spacious, fenced backyard. Meanwhile, we loved the plush bedding and strong water pressure in the shower that you’d find at an upscale hotel. Melissa was friendly and quick to respond throughout the reservation process, and it would be difficult to think of a question that wasn’t already answered in the helpful binder she leaves for her guests. Melissa’s house offers a peaceful getaway where every care, both big and small, has already been considered. We can't wait to return!

  • The cabin is wonderful! Our dog Kona loved the large yard to run around in after being couped up in the car driving up.

  • Perfect, comfy getaway. Located very close to town and any other activities Idyllwild has to offer. All the creature comforts you may need, yet a pleasant first class rustic feel you are searching for away from the city. Completely fenced in (ginormous) yard for privacy and dogs was a plus in selecting this gem.

    Laura2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Little House is as much fun in the summer as in the winter. It is so beautifully done and as quaint as can be. We will definitely be back again. The location is amazing too. Very close to town but also very quiet and private.

Our cabin is nestled in the pines and is close to the city center and restaurants. You’ll love our cabin because of the cozy feel, outdoor space, fireplace, jacuzzi, & hip decor. Our cabin is the perfect place for a couples' get-away or retreat with your small family.
  • This cabin is adorable & charming! We really enjoyed relaxing on the deck, and sitting in the hot tub overlooking the trees at night. Our 3 year old thought the swing and the loft were the coolest things she's ever seen, and she cried when it was time to leave because she was "going to miss this house". To calm her we had to promise that we would come back. There are a number of games and puzzles in the house that we loved. It was especially nice when our daughter was kept busy doing a puzzle while we packed up. The hosts are also very responsive and nice. Highly recommend!

  • Wanted to get away with the family for my birthday weekend. We had an AMAZING time!! Enough room outside for the kids to ride their scooters and bikes in the fenced in yard. Very peaceful and quiet! Would highly recommend!! Thank you guys so much!

  • Perfect cozy mountain retreat. We (my husband and two year old) stayed at Idyllride for fourth of July weekend and couldn't picked a better place. This is a beautifully renovated cabin with a great mountain feel. The location is about two minutes from town. Stocked for cooking. Washer and dryer for laundry. Spotlessly clean. A great selection of interesting books. And the hot tub....oh the hot tub...surrounded by beautiful trees and great stars. Doesn't get much better.

    Melissa2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Really great cabin I highly recommend! Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook a big meal. There is a grill outside, and a hot tub. The cabin was clean, well organized, and all appliances and furniture in perfect working condition. Owners of home were fast to respond to any questions we had, they made the process so easy. The expectations set on their listing meet exactly what you actually walk into. No unpleasant surprises! Location is close to town as well as hiking trails. Everything was a quick 5 min drive away! A really beautiful cabin. I highly recommend! 5 star rating all around on this airbnb!! My friends and I hope to stay here again! Thank you!! ❤❤❤❤❤

    Ashley2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin and central to the town! We loved the fact that the hot tub was separate on its own deck and all the tall pine trees surrounding. The look and feel was so cozy and relaxing l we couldn't have spent the long weekend at a better cabin.

    Eric2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Greg and Adina's place is a super cozy spot, perfect for a getaway in the mountains during a few days. The cabin is very cleverly arranged and gives you a good feeling right when you enter for the first time. Decoration is beautiful, everything is very clean and smells super good. The kitchen is very well equipped and we also enjoyed an evening of BBQ. The nights were so calm, it's a perfect place to unwind and relax from LA life! Two minor problems were the lack of space for hanging clothes (not a big problem for us since we were only 2 people and only there for 3 days...but if you are a party of 4 or have more clothes, hangers would come in handily) and the - for our taste - very soft mattress, which forced us to use both beds, since I woke up every time my partner turned around during the first night...but like I said, these are personal preferences. We loved the cozy spaces to chill and read during the afternoons; plenty of blankets, pillows, clever light solutions that make you not wanna go outside ;) Idyllwild itself was a very pleasant discovery too; nice people, good hiking, decent restaurants and an excellent chocolate manufacturer! Thanks for everything, Adina and Greg. We will definitely be back!

The living area under the loft features a 27" vintage CRT television, a VCR/DVD player with a selection of classic VHS tapes, Roku, and a comfortable sofa set to enjoy. An extensive catalog of additional VHS titles is available for guests to choose from upon arrival. Gorgeous forest views surround, and windows are dressed with insulative light filtering cellular shades to accommodate individual light preferences. The living space between the entry and kitchen has a game table, cabinet full of vintage board games, puzzles, and blankets to keep cozy. A skylight and high ceiling brighten the area. Under the staircase is a stereo receiver with turntable and a small collection of vinyl records to set the mood. The kitchen's high ceilings and ample windows give an airy, open feel. In addition to the standard refrigerator/freezer, oven/range, and microwave, there is a coffeemaker, toaster, and medium sized crock pot to use. In the cabinets and drawers you'll find glasses - juice, tumbler, red and white wine - and coffee mugs, flatware, plates, bowls, cutting board, cooking knives, assortment of cooking implements and kitchen gadgets, food storage/cooking casserole dishes, baking sheet, pitcher, ice bucket, bottle opener and corkscrew. Surrounded completely by trees, the hillside deck is outfitted with four refurbished vintage patio chairs with two parsons tables between them. Perfect for relaxing with a book and a cup of coffee or glass of wine, it's also a great place to roll out a mat and practice yoga, meditate, or just stretch out. A propane grill is available for guest use. Smoking is permitted on the deck. Due to fire safety concerns, ashtrays are provided and must be used. The sleeping loft has a low slung queen bed flanked with compact nightstands and reading lights, a cabinet for guest use, a 24" smart TV, and a spectacular view. The comforter and pillows are hypoallergenic. A fun space to hang out in or for guests to store larger luggage items, the cozy, triangular attic room near the bed houses several additional comforters and a folding luggage rack for your convenience. The bathroom boasts a generous jetted corner spa tub and the handheld shower attachment can be put into a user-friendly ceiling fixture to allow for standing showers. Shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, hand soap, toothpaste, washcloths, towels, and a hair dryer are provided for your comfort.
Our neighborhood is quiet and mountain-residential. At the end of the street, about a 10 minute walk, is a grand and sweeping vista of rolling chaparral hills and dramatic mountain forms.
  • Astrid made sure that we had everything, that the place was clean and comfortable. We will be back. Absolutely perfect for a couple. Loved the record player. The kitchen has EVERYTHING you need!!!!

  • Super accurate to the pictures. The place is well equipped and the neighborhood is very quiet and relaxing. Astrid was extremely kind and flexible. She responds to questions fast and keeps the loft in great condition. Everything was so nice and clean. It is the perfect place for a weekend getaway with your significant other!

  • I recommend Astrid's sweet place very highly!! It was clean, cozy, and comfortable and looked like the pictures, only bigger and more spacious. We felt very welcome and at home. The location feels secluded and is only a short walk from town. The views from the bedroom were gorgeous! Everything was taken care of and we were blown away!

  • a cozy spot with a great view especially at sunset. equipped with a nice kitchen and bath you will certainly enjoy your stay.

  • Astrid provided a perfect getaway location for my husband and I. The interior is so light and modern unlike most rentals in the area covered in dark wood paneling. We loved the way the apartment is laid out with a large loft bedroom, roomy kitchen and great patio deck. We sat outside and watched bunnies and a deer cruise down the hillside. Looking forward to our next visit!

  • My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in Astrid's guest house! We loved the spacious kitchen and the view from all the windows. The decor was fun and the spa tub was wonderful. The location was good: easy to get to and close to town, but we felt secluded when we were there. It's perfect for a getaway for two!

    Danielle2017-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Just came back from Astrid's place and it was wonderful! It was a romantic/peaceful getaway perfect for couples. The kitchen especially looks lot bigger and better than the pictures shown. The outside view from the patio was just absolutely stunning and when you wake up you can see the trees through the glass window and it was the best way to start your day! Astrid was so nice and quick to respond! They have Smart TVs and it had free Netflix. Plenty of towels in the bathroom and the hottub was just perfect! I would highly recommend this place and would definitely come back! Thank you Astrid for everything!!!

  • The Loft House was fantastic, the clean interior combined with the retro aesthetic is appealing, functional and relaxing. I enjoyed the quiet location, and Astrid was an exceptional host. My favorite part was the spacious interior and white floating cabinets that make the space feel open and minimal. The CRT television was perfect for watching old 4:3 streaming content via the roku box. You will love the 80's electronics and room layouts. I spent two nights here with my girlfriend watching Star Trek and drinking red wine. The neighborhood was beautiful and we enjoyed the nearby hikes and quaint restaurants. 10/10 would highly recommend.

  • The space is simple and beautiful. And hosts Lawrence and Clare were awesome. Very friendly and accommodating. It's right int town, close to everything, but you feel tucked away in the woods. And bonus was that I got to hang with Lawrence and Clare who are excellent company. And talented. Go see them perform their music if you have a chance. Look forward to returning.

  • The place was great. Cindi was super nice and made check in easy. Pretty forest view off the deck. The amenities are great and the place was stocked with snacks, etc. The kitchen had granite counter tops and new appliances. Bed was comfy. An air conditioner might be nice for hot summer nights. There is a fan but it only goes so far when its 90 degrees outside. Other than that the place is perfect.

    Ted2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place for two and a nice retreat from the city! Very convenient and close to the town and hikes in Idyllwild. Joyce, Cindi, Rick were great hosts! Would recommend.

  • Love, love, love this cabin! The picture from the outside doesn't do it justice. It has everything you need for a cozy and/romantic getaway for 1-2 ppl. It's within walking distance of Cafe Aroma & Idyology both of which have live music playing every night at 6pm. Idyology has a magnificent bar and fireplace. Their food is American grub and is decent and is about a block up the road. If you're going to walk back home in the dark don't forget to grab the flashlight at your front door before you take off cuz coming back down that block at night it's pitchdark, but very safe! Cafe Aroma is right across the street and has fabulous food! It's higher end with some great seafood choices and live music as well. The cabin itself has a lovely deck in the back facing the amazing forest with gigantic trees. Bring a book and sit on a chaise lounge on the deck and enjoy! The fireplace is electric and is controlled from the panel at the front door. Nothing beats snuggling up on the coach in front of the fire before bedtime. To boot, there's a great jacuzzi right outside the cabin facing the forest. Downtown is very close by as well. Depending on if you are up for a short walk or not it's about a 5 minute walk downhill but if course you have to walk back up the hill to get back. The great thing about walking is all the cool little shops along the way. Don't miss out on the candle store, btw. They have soaps and jewelry and art too! Overall all I can do is highly praise this family for their beautiful little village (Strawberry Creek Village) and if you've never been to Idyllwild you won't be disappointed. Just don't forget to go hiking and go to the Village Market first to get your $5 parking permit. The park ranger's office is half block away where you can grab your map and decide if you'll hike an "easy" free to trail or pay another $5 for a trail permit for one of the other tails. Enjoy Idyllwild and Strawberry Creek Village. I'm certain you won't be disappointed. It was my first time here. I came alone for my birthday and I absolutely loved everything! I'm sitting at Cafe Aroma right now after finishing my hike, enjoying my last meal in town before I take off attend drive back to LA.

If you like the Ahwahnee hotel in Yosemite, you'll love our little Ahwahnee-be cabin. Decorated with mission oak furniture and Indian themed fabrics and Pendletons, this 1953 vintage cabin is just an 8 minute walk into town. 10% county tax included. FALL SPECIAL: Stay the weekend and get Thursday or Sunday night at half price! Good until Nov 16. (You will pay normal price, then get a refund ASAP).
Walk to county and state parks, hiking trails, bouldering and skate park. A beautiful real river rock fireplace is at the heart of this unique cabin. Large 1/2 acre lot with a badminton court. Downstairs is a game room/theater/bar and large screen TV with surround sound, DVD, X-Box 360 and PS2 game consoles. Another nice feature of this cabin is the real plaster ceiling. Many of the cabins in Idyllwild have the same wood paneling on the ceiling as the walls. This makes for a rather dark room, and a feeling as though one is living in a crate. Some reviewers have mentioned the word "loft" for the upstairs bedroom. To be clear, it is a large finished attic room with it's own door to the stairs. The ceiling, however, is 6 feet high, so us tall ones have to stoop a little! $30 pet fee per booking. We are pretty flexible with check-in and check out times, except when it is booked consecutive days. Just ask the day before you arrive.
We are basically a two block walk into town. You will pass the Idyllwild Fire Dept, and the US Forest Service on the way (a very safe place to stay!) See the Guidebook for recommendations on dining and things to do.
  • Adorable and perfectly appointed. Our kids have the impression we "camped" in a cabin but we lacked for nothing and slept great. Magical for the kids.

    Kathleen2017-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • It was perfect. John and Lara made us feel so welcome and allowed us to check in early. Upon arrival it was cold and rainy (which we love!) and they had set up the fireplace with logs and newspapers all ready, so all we had to do was light it! We all were prepared to have to get the get the fire together ourselves and that was a really nice touch. What a way to make your guests feel welcome! It was cozy and a perfect size for us. The whole cabin was decorated in the style of a cozy mountain cabin, which is exactly what we were looking for. It had everything you could need at your fingertips. We came up with our friends, so there were 4 of us and he was so accommodating. Our friends have a little dog and thought they may have to bring it, (they didn't end up having to bring it) but John was fine with it, if they did. You can tell that John has put a lot of care into fixing up this cabin. It shows. My husband and I love to do that sort of thing as well, so we notice the details. And John and Lara's cabin shows the love!

  • Beautiful cozy cabin, located conveniently to town and trails! Fantastic fireplace and other lovely features, comfy warm beds, kitchen served our needs well (we never did explore town for food or entertainment, but it seemed quite charming and the grocery store well-stocked.) Woke up to gorgeous snow the first day - about 6 inches and fluffy thick - and we took the most beautiful hike I've ever been on just by wandering towards the park and spotting a trail winding uphill. The manual was clear and John was communicative - available and helpful when it came to clarifying down things like wifi and extra firewood :)

  • John and Lara were so helpful (sent hiking maps, newsletter, tips) and seemed available had I needed to text. Their cabin was the sweetest home base for our weekend on the mountain! What a great location, we could walk to the hiking grounds or to town. We loved our little excursions, but hanging out by the fire was the best part of the weekend! I wish I was back there now!!

  • Cute place with nice amenities. The pics are accurate. It's on the edge of the commercial part of the village, literally a ~2 minute walk to restaurants and shops . . . we did get some noise at night as a result. If you want a secluded cabin experience, maybe not the best option out there. On the other hand, super convenient location.

    Chris2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend getaway and had an awesome time! We walked everywhere -- restaurants, thrift shops, the farmer's market -- and were a short drive from hiking trails. The cabin super cozy and the hot tub and bath were nice to come home to after long days of walking.

This is another Melissa Wilson designed and managed Idyllwild home so being pampered and spoiled and having a 5 star treatment is always part of your stay. Check out my other vacation homes to see my superhost 5 star ratings and reviews at airbnb.com/rooms/11770906 & 19924620. I pay close attention to all the details like the plush bedding, the selection of pillows, the industrial style lighting throughout, and the drawers and cabinets filled with “oops, I forgot or ran out” items.
IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE: 10% occupancy tax (gets sent to Riverside County) will be added to the price after booking. Two dogs max. 5 guests maximum. Weekly discount 25% Monthly discount 40% Security deposit - $275 This cabin is an AIR CONDITIONED large studio - PLUS... meaning there is a queen bed in the main room, a full size kitchen (not a kitchenette), and 3/4 bath (shower no tub). Also within the home is a space with a futon couch that converts to a twin (with a wall and closing curtain to separate the rooms). This charming, bright and sunny little home is fully remodeled and designed by me, Melissa, a long time Idyllwild resident/artist/teacher. It is upscale, very clean and well stocked. This cozy little place has a post modern-industrial feel. The wood burning stove gives off the feeling of warmth and romance. There is a great side yard with lots of sun, a barbecue, and dining table or you can step into the wooded backyard for a totally different experience to relax and enjoy being completely surrounded by nature. The home works well for one to two people, two couples or a small family (including the family dog!).
No parties please, but having some friends over to barbecue is fine. This neighborhood is very quiet and has some full time owners who would not appreciate the noise. Please observe extra quiet hours from 10 pm to 8 am
  • Melissa provided everything to have a relaxing and wonderful weekend in the mountains. The house is very clean and professionally taken care of. Wonderful is all I can say.

  • When looking for a smaller rental for just my daughter and I and my pooch I was so lucky to find the brand new rental from super Airbnb host and designer Melissa! From our first bit of communication throughout the enter rental Melissa is a terrific host who is easy to keep in touch with and super responsive to your needs. On our arrival day it was to be super hot in Idylwild and I was so thankful to receive a message from Melissa says the cooking from the fans was just not enough for her liking so that morning she installed a portable a/c unit in the rental. We were super grateful. After getting all that done before our arrival Melissa left us to our quality Mom and daughter time knowing she was able to assist if needed but honoring our time. When we arrived the house was cool and filled with amazing touches like a welcome note for us and my dog and little notes throughout the house that made staying there super simple and easy to navigate. The space is brand new designed tastefully and modern. The kitchen was a joy to cook in and the board games and Netflix on the new tv were all a nice touch. You simply can not go wrong with the quality and hospitality of a super host like Melissa.

  • Melissa had exceptional communication from the time of booking up through our stay. Upon arrival, the house was exceptionally clean, organized, and well stocked. The interior design was incredible and created a relaxing environment in which my husband and I could feel comfortable in. The patio was a highlight of our stay! We loved building a fire under the stars while also getting to grill our favorite foods! In regards of location, the house is in walkable distance to the main center of Idyllwild and driveable to an abundance of trial heads. The neighborhood was quiet and the home felt secluded. There is a 100% chance we will be returning!

    Jenna2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable house close to town. Neat and clean with all the amenities incl. chocolate! Melissa thought of everything and couldn't have been easier to work with. Thanks for making our escape from the desert so pleasant!

    deborah2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa's place was all new and thoughtfully done. We didn't really spend time there but to sleep, but it seems like the kitchen would be well-stocked and there's a nice grill. It has close by neighbors, but a lot of trees and a fairly private unfenced sitting area in the back. She had a "library" of beverages and products for in a pinch. Comfortable and clean!

This restful hideaway is a .07 mile easy walk to town! With shops, restaurants, and entertainment. We are also very close to the Idyllwild Art Center! Hiking is out your front door into the woods, to town, or to the many trails here!
Quiet getaway for one or two or up to four people. This home will accommodate 2 to 4 people easily...with 750 square feet of living space, there is plenty of room to stretch out! We take great pride in cleanliness, and have paid attention to the details! All of the bedding, towels and other cloth coverings are hypoallergenic and washed after each guest!
  • Elaine is a wonderful host. The cabin is absolutely beautiful -- the art is local, everything is new, and the grounds are stunning. Perfect for a family get-together or a romantic getaway. Elaine and Ken's deliberate and kind hospitality completely stole our hearts! We mentioned that we like hiking, so they made a point to leave maps with hiking trails and fun places to stop for us. It was such an honor to be their first guests, and we hope to stay with them again in the future!

    Anneke2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was pleasant, Elaine was great with instruction and very respectful with our space, it didnt feel like we were staying in someones elses home, very comfortable. She provided more than the typical amenities which made the stay all that more enjoyable. The backyard extends into the mountainous terrain, scenic, and makes for a gorgeous walk after dinner. The area was quiet and calm, perfect for a decompressing family weekend. Highly recommended! Lastly, the heater fan worked wonders in keeping us snug and warm through the night.

  • The place was amazing! Very cozy feel but not stuffy in any way. It is just far enough away from the town to be relaxing and close enough to get coffee in the morning. A 2 minute hike thru the back yard and there are amazing views of the mountains and canyons! Elaine was super inviting and helpful, made us feel like we had a good friend in town, but gave us plenty of privacy. All together a perfect spot to get away, couldn't have had a better place to celebrate our anniversary!

Come enjoy The Rustic retreat. Whether you're coming to get away from the city or coming to enjoy all that Idyllwild has to offer we have the perfect set up for couples or solo Travelers. Bring a book to enjoy or your laptop can be connected to WiFi for use with Netflix or the internet. The cabin is located on a partially unmaintained dirt road. Lowered vehicles not recommend. Cabin is located a short 5 minute drive from town.
The cabin is nestled off the main road in a very quiet neighborhood. The mornings and evenings are delightful.
  • The retreat was very cute and cozy! Samantha did an excellent job creating a home away from home in a tiny space. The bed was super comfortable. The bathroom had a nice big sink and plenty of room to place all of our toiletries around it. Even with a home next door, with kids, as indicated, it was very quiet! The view off the front deck was lovely and we enjoyed waking up and having coffee there. The snacks and the local history books were a nice touch! We wouldn't hesitate to come back and stay here again!

    Chloe2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place was absolutely incredible. My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary. here and had an amazing time. I didn't do enough research and was unaware there was no stove, so we ate out all 3 nights (sarcastic boohoo). I wouldn't recommend it to a couple on their first date since the bathroom is next to the bed and you will here and see everything. but for those of you who don't mind, this is the most adorable, most quaint little place to stay. we would absolutely come back and would recommend it! Samantha was incredible, she was always helping me with questions about the town and was very sweet and responsive.

  • Such a cute getaway! Very quiet apart for the critters running around outside the cabin at night. Amazing views from this location and close to town. Very clean and very well put together. Make sure not to underestimate the dirt road though. I drove in with an SUV and still had a hard time. Wouldn't suggest a city vehicle in this road.

  • An amazing place with an amazing view. Super cozy and a wonderful host! Highly recommended! Small access note: we came on a motorcycle and the last bit of dirt road to the apartment was a little tricky (fun) but doable on my bike with a passenger. Most cars should be fine.

    Gregory2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Samantha provided thoughtful hospitality, including giving us recommendations on how to hike in Idyllwild (FYI: you need a permit and a parking pass to hike Mt Jacinto!) as well as some hiking snacks. The Rustic Retreat is a great place for a couple looking for a quiet mountain escape. The listing does warn potential guests about the dirt road, and I should reiterate that it is bumpy but my 2WD Jetta managed up and down without too much tire spinning.

    Robert2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was fantastic and really exceeded our expectations. My boyfriend and I were in Idyllwild for some hiking/relaxation and this 'Rustic Retreat' was perfect. The location is down a dirt road maybe 7 or 8 minutes from town itself. The trailheads that we needed to access were within 15 minutes. The cabin itself is immaculate and tastefully done. A comfortable full size bed, woodburning stove, two chairs, small dining table , an armoire etc. The view from the porch is really nice. The area is gorgeous. The host has stocked the cabin with everything required for a comfortable stay. The kitchen has the basics small fridge, microwave, woodburning stove (that we did not use), french press, utensils etc. The towels were of spa quality, the show pressure was great (plenty of hot water), the linen was clean and suitable for the range of climates climate. The chairs were comfortable, the lighting was correct for the overall feel and the internet speed was fast (we could stream music/movies with no issue). The bathroom is semi -private with swinging half doors, but this was no concern for us. The cabin is next door to the owners home, but we the windows face away and the overall layout lends to seclusion and privacy. This is a thought out and well cared for property that we fully intend on revisiting.

  • Very comfortable house for a large group or like ours -- a big family. The kids had fun playing all the games that were available while the adults hung out in different parts of the living room.

  • I loved it.

    Jongoh2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, spacious, clean house with great appliances and spacious kitchen. Definitely would recommend to a friend. Beds were clean and comfortable. Plenty of space and nice, quiet neighborhood. Would stay here again!

    Kelly2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, great house, great hosts. It was perfect for a large group, with a huge single table that fit everyone for dinner, and a fantastic kitchen with double ovens and all you need to cook. It is a quiet neighborhood and the house has an awesome back yard for a BBQ. There are plenty of little zones around the house, like the screen porch and a game area for groups to break out or get a space for a little alone time. Short drive to hikes and great little restaurants in town. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Keep an eye on the weather when booking. The upstairs bedrooms get ice cold, but AC in the downstairs part of the house struggles if it is over 90 outside. It is not a big deal and still very comfortable, definitely not a deal breaker, but want to help manage expectations.

    Scott2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house is nice, clean, and you will find all what you need. Highly recommended

  • Great place and well equipped. Can host 10 people easily. Very large common area for hanging out. The place actually has an AC unit, which was a nice surprise on a hot day.

  • What a great spot! Vicky and Steve were incredible hosts and were so helpful when I needed suggestions of what to do and where to eat. The only thing that kept me from giving this place a perfect 5-stars is that the first night the neighbor dogs barked for most of the night which kept me awake. The second night I barely heard a peep! Very clean and comfortable.

    Laurie2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Just spent 2 nights at Vicky's place-Little Yellow Door. It is located in a beautiful secluded setting, yet a close drive into the town of Idyllwild which has many nice restaurants and some fun places to shop. Vicky was a fantastic host and her place is very charming-it has everything you need for a restful visit!

    Nancy2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for a great little weekend getaway! Vicky was very responsive when asked for recommendations and we were also greeted with some of her famous cookies! Favorite place was on the back patio, under the heater with a glass of wine and looking up at the stars.

  • It was a magical weekend, and we will remember it fondly. Thank you for all your kind attentions, especially for all the great tips we got from you as a local. We will do it again! Sincerely, José and Susie

    Jose2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Juls is laid back and very sweet! She welcomed me with open arms and a cold glass of water which was exactly what I needed! Her dogs, like all dogs bark when you get there, but they calm right down and she has a sweet kitty that likes to say hi! Her home is cozy, rustic and warm. I felt totally relaxed there after a long day of driving it was just what I needed, a place to kick back. It's close to town, close to hiking trails, and Juls is a "gem" about giving directions and suggestions.

    Sheila2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Groovy little place. Perfect retreat for me and the wifey. Loved the instruments everywhere, pets were friendly, just make sure you aren't allergic. Great stay, will definitely come back.

    Edward2016-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Juls and her cozy, mountain home are a delight! She is totally present, engaging, helpful, caring and an incredible musician and singer. The Wonderland porch has soothing view of the forest and mountains so I recommend anyone to plan to spend a few hours alone or with Juls on the back porch, just as I did. This left me with the feeling of a true escape weekend even before going into Idyllwild to see the quaint town. Thank you so much for a lovely stay and looking forward to seeing you again soon Juls!

    Valerie2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • WONDERFUL experience. We arrived a little later than expected, but we were greeted at the door by their two beautiful, friendly cats (and we got to meet the fabulous one eyed dog, Mister E.) One of the cats even slept on the bed with us, which was extremely comforting. The house is beautiful, even the backyard has a lovely welcoming garden. I would definitely recommend Juls place over any cabin I've stayed in on a trip to Idyllwild.

    Ena2016-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We just got home from a weekend trip up to Idyllwild and we are so glad we decided to stay here! We have nothing but good things to say about the whole experience. It was a peaceful and serene atmosphere with a down to earth and super friendly host! Hot showers Wood burning stove is so cool FAST internet 100mb Great location Instruments everywhere Awesome house! I can assure you that if you decide to book this place, you will not regret it! We had such a great time, we are already thinking about when we can go back!

  • This is a really lively cabin in the woods. Private, serene and very comfortable. Jenna and Paul were very communicative and helpful, not to mention super nice!

    Sara2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so lovely! Be sure to catch the sunrise and sunset if you can!

    Patti2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place! So cute and the location is beautiful. It's a good place to relax and get away. Note that you'll have to drive into the actual town if you're looking for shops or restaurants. However It's a perfect spot in the trees to unwind and watch the sunset.

    Jen2016-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is the cleanest AirBnB I've ever stayed in! The hosts communicate fast and have excellent instructions for everything in the house and nearby attractions/stores. The cabin itself is very cute and modern. Bed was comfortable, couch is large and nice, internet was fast, and the front and back decks are perfect for eating dinner and watching the sunset. Cannot stress enough how clean and nice everything was (bathroom and kitchen are great!) and the price is insanely good for the rental. The hosts are fantastic. I'll be staying again!

    Nick2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. Paul and Jenna are easy to communicate with. The cabin is really cute and earns its name, the lazy A. The only thing to be aware of is a not so comfy bed. To soft and bouncy for our liking. But over a great experience!

    Megan 2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful Place to stay.. Paul and Jenna were so wonderful as hosts.. I asked my girlfriend to Marry Me their and they were gracious enough to hide a bottle of bubbly for us to celebrate.. they defiantly went above and beyond as hosts and made our experience extra special..

    Michael2015-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • I booked a two night stay at the Lazy A to celebrate my husband's birthday, and couldn't be happier! Paul and Jenna were such fantastic hosts - they even left a birthday card for my husband! Their welcome letter was very comprehensive - they gave advise on local restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, etc. We went hiking one day, and they had even provided a Forest Service Adventure Pass so we didn't have to get our own. The cabin is so cute! Most mountain cabins I looked at on AirBnB had very predictable cliche decor - lots of plaid and knotty pine furniture. The Lazy A was by far the most well decorated. The view out the back is incredible, and the wood burning stove kept the place warm and cozy. (They even provided firewood and kindling!) I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

  • The lodge was wonderful! The decor was warm, clean, and inviting and housed everything you could possibly think of needing. The hot tub was great and the enclosed yard was perfect for our labs. We loved sitting on the decks with our coffee and tea while planning our days. Sandy was the perfect host, always available to answer any questions or requests. The location was close to lots of hiking places and the town - we would love to stay here again!

  • The house was exactly as described - definitely will go back if we are in Idyllwild again. Really enjoyed the fireplace (the wood provided was much more than expected), the hot tub was perfect, the beds were very comfortable and the location was quiet and inviting. Thanks for a short but great stay Sandra!

    Kip2016-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this place was perfect! Exactly how described, great location, but still private. Brought our pup with us and he loved the mountain air and fenced in yard. Very clean and comfy beds!!!

    Jessica 2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the house! Sandra has it decorated so nicely. Bed was very comfortable. It was a treat to come back after a long hike and relax in the hot tub. Our check-in check-out went very smoothly. The only thing I would consider next time is location. We typically like to be in a more secluded area and not so close to the road with a neighbor right next door. Just a minor thing the cushions on the front porch furniture were all wet, would have been nice if we could have used the cushions. Having said this we still enjoyed our time here and would recommend this cabin.

    Christine2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Well stocked, beautiful charmer of a cabin. Located very close to town center. We had a great time and will come back again! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

  • We absolutely loved our stay at Sandra's. Was cozy but still with plenty of room for 5 adults, a baby and a pup. Kitchen has everything you need, beds are incredibly comfortable, fire place was easy to use with tons of stocked wood, hot tub was clean and great and the cabin is perfectly located within walking distance of town. This was the perfect weekend getaway spot. Sandra was great to communicate with, very thorough and helpful. Would certainly recommend and will probably stay here again in the future.

  • Lovely, well-appointed cabin. Was a lot more 'ready-to-go' on arrival than any cabin we've rented before - lots of blankets, bedsheets, cooking equipment, coffee-maker (and coffee), etc. I'm a big fan of Sonos so I was stoked that they had a system set-up and easy to hook into. A great dining / lounge area that's great for eating and board-games. Heaters in the toilets were also pretty sweet! We were lucky enough to get a load of snow on the ground, which our dog and 1 1/2 year-old loved playing in. The cabin is a lovely 15 minute walk from the main 'center' of Idyllwild, and has a big yard for dogs to run around in.

  • From the moment I booked this cabin, Sandy was already communicating with me. She is a very personable and sweet lady who was very patient with my paperwork (Sandy requires emergency contacts, and names of all occupants -- very thorough :) The pictures depict the cabin exactly as it is. Very clean and well thought out little details that will make you feel like you're staying in a rustic, yet homey mountain lodge. This cabin makes you feel like you're worlds away from the city, when in actuality you're only 2 hrs away from Los Angeles! Love that! I would say that what I appreciated most about this cabin was the well stocked kitchen. There's a keurig and even a Blentec! Any sort of pot, pan, herb, etc you will find in this kitchen! The jacuzzi gets 5 stars! There's more than enough towels and blankets which we also found very helpful. And although the cabin ideally fits 4 people, our group of 6 slept very comfortably in the 2 queens upstairs and the sofa-bed downstairs. The town nearby has some cute shops and cafes -- it's walkable and a great way to meet the friendly locals. There are a lot of trails in the area too. We did the Suicide Rock hike and the views are gorgeous. We spent a good 45 minutes at the top soaking in all the beauty! It was a lovely trip and this cabin was perfect for our girls weekend. I'm definitely staying at The Lodge during my next stay in Idyllwild! Thank you Sandy!

The only thing better than visiting Idyllwild is LIVING in Idyllwild! Come visit our a-frame cabin and find peace under the pines with all the comforts of a mountain home complete with a loft bedroom. Eat, drink, relax, & enjoy the natural beauty of the San Jacinto mountains. Just a scenic 10 min drive away from town, it's the perfect location to take advantage of all the fun in town while still staying in a quiet neighborhood of Idyllwild locals. Human and dog children both welcome! ;)
Our home has all the appeal of a mountain cabin with more space and an airier feel than most Idyllwild homes. The vaulted ceilings of the A-Frame living area provide a gorgeous view of the trees at all times, with golden sunlight falling across the trees around sunset. When you arrive, you'll find paved parking for two cars in front of the house and parking in the clearing across the street. Our entry way includes space for your shoes as well as hooks for coats and other items. We have three sleeping areas: #1) Master Bedroom - This bedroom has a King Size Sleep Number bed as well as its own ensuite bathroom and walkout access to the deck and hot tub. #2) Loft Bedroom - This 'bedroom' is actually in the loft, meaning it overlooks the living area of the house (but has high enough ceilings to be able to stand and walk around in.) In it, you'll find a queen size bed with a view of the towering pines. #3) Front Bedroom - This bedroom has two twin beds and is great for kids! We also have two dining areas - One 6 person table outside on the deck and one 4 person table inside (with a breakfast bar that seats 2 in addition.) We want you to feel at home during your stay! Here are some of the things we keep in the house to make sure you have a fun stay: - Netflix, Hulu, and HBO (Yes, that includes Game of Thrones!) - A full kitchen for cooking and baking, including a Kitchen Aid Mixer - Coffee machine - Washer + Dryer with needed supplies - Summer "cool" comforters - Ceiling fans throughout the house - A small laptop working area - Bathroom + Shower essentials - Board games + cards - Citronella candles to keep the mosquitos away - Parking spaces - An Idyllwild guide with hiking, restaurant, and event info - A house guide to make sure you know how to use everything
Our house is located in Pine Cove, which is a bit higher up the mountain than Idyllwild (8 - 10 minutes driving) and a lot more secluded and private. Our street is private and gets very little traffic. Most of the surrounding houses are empty, so you won't see many neighbors around. We have a small store 5 minutes driving from the house for necessities as well.
  • Great... we had a wonderful time. Quiet and peaceful!!

  • Peace in the Pines is a lovely, cozy little home in a quiet neighborhood. Our family of 6 had a wonderful stay. We had great communication with Michele and Kathy. Perfect, pet friendly house and yard! The sleep number bed was amazing and we had everything we needed in this well-equipped home. We will definetly return for another stay!

  • The location was excellent, very quite and peaceful. Everything you need to enjoy your vacation was there, so you didn't have to worry if you forgot something at home. Very easy to communicate with the owner of any question or concerns. Will definitely look into staying here again on my annual trip.

  • Peace in the pines is exactly what this is. If you are looking for a true getaway from the city, then you will love this. It's very comfy and accommodating and Michele is pleasant and a quick responder. We hope to come back in the winter. Idyllwild is a great little community and the people are very friendly, we will definitely be back for another visit!

  • This property is aptly named. It was so peaceful and perfect for the weekend. We had a wonderful stay and came away very relaxed. The home is clean, roomy, and comfortable. It's close to town but secluded enough to be really quiet. Tracy was very responsive if we had a question and we just can't say enough about what a perfect weekend we had.

    Noel2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a great weekend away! The cabin was the perfect place to be lazy all weekend. You are only a short drive into town, I love that you are tucked away from it all. We will back with our daughter next time!

  • This was our second time staying at Michelle's place within the month. A picturesque, secluded area nestled amongst all the trees but still 7 minutes by car to catch the great food and live music Idyllwild offers. The place was very roomy and cozy so we felt comfortable, like if it was our home, from the minute we stepped through the door. Any minor questions were promptly answered via email. Michelle was very thoughtful of our needs. Will definitely be keeping her beautiful home on regular stay rotation.

  • We stayed at Peace in the Pines. Perfect for a quiet getaway, and the cabin has everything you need and more. Lol DON'T have a party there, though, the noise travels far and there are neighbors who value their peace and quiet. Wonderful little spot.

Come and recharge your body and soul among the pine trees. Two welcoming, colorful rooms waiting for you whether you are hiker or just want to experience a new location and take a stroll in lovely Idyllwild. You will have a small refrigerator, microwave oven, and coffee pot to brew your own coffee in the morning. You can sit and relax in the front yard far away from the heat and hectic city rush.
You can use one room or two rooms. It is perfect for couples or friends or for families with kids. Please not that there is no common sitting room available, just the two bedrooms with a small bar refrigerator, microwave oven and coffee pot in the hallway nook. Perfect for short breaks when you want to be out most of the time exploring the stunning surroundings. All linen and towels are provided. Lovely front yard with garden setting to breathe in the fresh air and no TV to keep you away from nature.
  • Ishay's place is perfect getaway for a couple or small family. We enjoyed how peaceful and quiet it was. Ishay truly goes above and beyond for her guests, and she made our stay memorable. We hope to visit again in the future!

  • We had such a great time with our family! It was clean and comfortable and the perfect size for our family of four. Thoroughly enjoyed the location, had our morning coffee outside while bird and squirrel watching. Ishay really adds a warm and friendly ambiance by graciously welcoming guests. Thanks for a serene and family friendly getaway.

  • We spent one night in this beautiful red house and left planning to return soon. The place is located in the middle of the woods yet not so far from the town’s center. Visitors can admire the sound of birds and trees without traffic noise. Ishay is hospitable, friendly, and respectful host. We felt extremely welcomed to Idyllwild with her warm character. She made sure we were comfortable in our stay. She even went out of her way to make sure my partner’s stomach ache improved offering a natural remedy. She was a fantastic introduction to the town with her great recommendations on what hikes to take and food to eat around the area. I very much recommend this stay.

  • Ishay is a friendly fun host and provides the perfect cozy quiet space in the woods. I had a wonderful night's sleep and loved the beautiful scenery! I will definitely come back, next time with my wife who is also a nature lover =)

  • Ishay's Serene Red House is a very cozy, welcoming place to rest your laurels ;) Came here with my husband and our 3 year old son for 5 days and LOVED it! ISHAY is SUPER FRIENDLY, HELPFUL, & RESPECTFUL-A PURE DELIGHT! We will be back! :) The Community Park/Playground and local library were PERFECT places to hang out with our active 3 year old! Great family vacation! There are just the two rooms (if you rent both I believe) and a bathroom with a shower. You have your own entrance and beautiful natural light. You might want to bring some water and not too much in the way of snacks (small fridge in entryway) - we enjoyed ALL of the local restaurants we tried (LumberMill for burgers late evening, Los Gorditos for Taco Tuesday, Mile High Cafe is very close and has amazing breakfast, and the Plant based Vegan Supper Club for lunch was great). Easier to eat out often since we saved on accomodations! WONDERFUL value and PEACEFUL place to unwind. :) :) ISHAY, WE CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH and Hope to be back SOON!
