Vacation Rentals in Mount Macedon

Just booked in Mount Macedon

This cosy cottage is a private retreat in our garden at the foothills of Mt Macedon. Fully self contained, it has two bedrooms. Highlights are the bay window, wood heater (for winter days by the fire), wide verandah and outdoor fire pit (for summer evenings under the stars), large open space to lie on the grass. Watch the passing kangaroos, say hello to the nearby sheep and listen to the amazing morning birdsong. It's also a great base for visiting the beautiful Macedon Ranges.
This very sweet little cottage has been a much loved bed and breakfast for over 15 years. Recently renovated, the interior design is simple and uncluttered, done creatively and lovingly. The cottage is surrounded by open grassy spaces and tall trees. The birdsong in the mornings is truly fantastic. Kookaburras are often hanging around. In the evenings there is a mob of kangaroos who come to graze on the grass. You will often hear the skimming of the wild ducks as they come to land on the dam nearby. Breakfast provisions will be left in the kitchen so you can just sleep in and relax on your first morning - eggs, bacon, milk, bread, tea, coffee, jams....
We are in the Macedon Ranges and very close to Victoria's famous spa country. There's so much to do in the area. Fantastic restaurants, pubs, wineries, walks, bike rides (we have bikes you can use...), farmer's markets, galleries, etc.
  • Emma & Bernard were very welcoming, friendly and easy to communicate with. Emma even SMS'd easy-to-follow instructions on how to get to the cottage before we arrived. The cottage is fantastic - very cosy, superbly clean, comfy beds, beautiful garden surrounds and great kitchen for making your own meals with local produce! Will definitely come back again!!

  • We had such a lovely time in this cottage. The attention to detail is what really impressed us. The wood heater was set up and ready to be lit, the art work was fantastic and bacon, eggs and bread provided was delicious. We met (2 sheep and a beautiful doggy) which made the stay even that much better. Highly recommended and we would definitely stay again!

    Kimberly2016-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in Bernard and Emma's charming cottage. Set on a gorgeous property with lake views, it was perfect for our family of four. We really appreciated all the thoughtful touches from flowers on the table to the delicious breakfast supplies, tasteful artwork, magazines and books, quality linen, plenty of wood for the fire and even marshmallows to toast! It felt like a cozy home away from home, very relaxing. Highly recommended.

  • Emma, Bernard and Fred (the dog) made us feel very welcome. The cottage is very cosy and as per description but it's the unexpected little touches (think marshmallows and fire) that brought the special touch to our stay.

    Elisabeth2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Both Emma and Bernard were awesome hosts to a beautiful little cottage. Easy prompt communication (in fact we managed to find it, book and pay all in one entire evening!) Loved their little cosy window nook and attention to design detail. Kitchen had everything we needed. Woodend is lush and green and the local markets were all worth a gander. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a cottage getaway!

Situated on a quite and peaceful road on beautiful Mt Macedon, ARC (Anzac Road Cottage) is a serene, country cottage ready to welcome you for your private country retreat. Large picture windows and expansive decking off the open-plan living look out on a stunning and peaceful vista which showcases a mix of a traditional English garden and Australian native bushland. The two acre property is a haven for native wildlife, yet only a short 300m walk to the centre of Mt Macedon Village.
The cottage is spacious with a warm and friendly vibe and can sleep up to 6 people comfortably. We have supplied a generous welcome hamper (filled with local products) and the pantry and fridge is filled with many essentials ready for your stay. The DeLonghi Nespresso coffee machine has a variety of capsules also for your enjoyment. If you wish to dine in, the kitchen is well equipped with cooking essentials and there is also a BBQ for outdoor entertaining in the warmer months. ARC has a beautiful wood fire which heats up the living area well, so winter nights are warm and cosy. Two baskets of wood and kindling have been supplied to get you started. But, to ensure you are extra toasty in winter and cool in summer there is also a ducted heating & cooling system. The upstairs living area has a TV and Audio System and comfy sofas for curling up on with a good book or glass of wine. The Audio System can play CDs, DVDs, has USB and Bluetooth capabilities so you can pair it with your device and listen to your own music. We also have a bookcase with a variety of books for all ages and a selection of board games that you are most welcome to use during your stay. Downstairs there is a second TV and basket of children’s toys, making it the perfect space for kids. The two bedrooms upstairs both have queen beds and loads of room for you to unpack if you wish. Downstairs the couch folds out into a king size bed for a comfy night’s sleep. Both bathrooms, upstairs and downstairs are brand new and ready for your use. Feel free to use the laundry as needed - powder, drying rack and pegs have all been supplied. There are six outdoor chairs for your use and to relax on.
ARC is perfectly situated on Mount Macedon, and is only an easy 300m walk to the fabulous Mount Macedon Trading Post and Pub. The Trading Post is the hub of the Mt Macedon community, specializing in excellent coffee, award-winning pies, tempting house made cakes, local produce & wines and beautiful giftware. They are also the home of Mount Macedon Kitchen preserves and biscuits. While you are in the area why not tour some of the regions great wineries (Hesket, Hanging Rock, Curly Flat, Granite Hills, Kyneton Ridge Estate or Paramoor Winery - just to name a few and only a stone throw away) or take a drive to down-town Macedon, Gisborne, Woodend or popular Piper Street, Kyneton - here you will find quirky cafes, pubs and restaurants. There are also some great little boutiques, and plenty of eclectic shops for buying home-wares, gifts and antiques. For nature lovers you may prefer to just wander around some of the magnificent private gardens on Mount Macedon or climb the majestic Hanging Rock which is home to a wide array of Australia's native flora and fauna. Then finish off at the local pub for a hearty meal or pizza and glass of wine.
  • Thanks for letting us share your beautiful house in a such a wonderful location. The setting was gorgeous and very private even though only a 10 min walk to the local pub. The little hamper on arrival was lovely and added to a wonderful weekend getaway. We hope to be back soon!

    Sach2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great house, in a lovely quiet location but a very short walk to a cafe and pub. Lovely place to relax for a weekend.

    Nicole2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay. The location is perfect, close enough to walk to get the odd supply, but secluded enough to think you were deep in the forest. Inky really made the experience complete with small touches that made our stay feel like home. We certainly will be back. Only downer was the neighbours dog that did like to bark as people went past on their daily walks

    Jonty2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Inky was a great host and very welcoming. She went to a great effort to make us feel at home. The place is fantastic, very clean with modern amenities and certainly spacious enough for 6 people. Great value for money and great location if you're keen to visit Mt Macedon or Hanging Rock. I would highly recommend staying here.

    Mount Macedon, VIC, Australia

Our home's a huge double storey brick home on the side of Mount Macedon, in the heart of the Macedon Ranges, famed for its food&wine. We're just 45 mins from Melbourne, 10 mins to Hanging Rock and walking distance to wonderful wineries and fab local pub. A delight for cyclists and bushwalkers. We're a young couple who tree-changed from Coburg last year. We live with two labradors and two rescue goats. Bec is a fantastic cook who's famous for her pancakes. A perfect weekend getaway. See you soon!
We're on two secluded acres, right next to the state forest. Our beautiful Labrador Zella is as friendly as can be, as are our two goats. The only noises you'll hear are birds, and the occasional goat bleet. You're likely to see the kangaroos that tend to come on our property most nights, or even the local wombat if you're really lucky. Kookaburras and rosellas abound along with ducks, magpies, cockatoos and other birdlife. EDIT: we currently have a Seeing Eye Dog puppy called Harpo living with us too. She's a lovely pup, but still a bit bouncy and enthusiastic so if you're scared of dogs our place may not be for you. If this room is booked try our other room: https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/17124335?s=51
The Macedon Ranges is one of Victoria's best food and wine regions. The local wineries specialise in cool climate wines and there is even a local name for the famed local premium sparkling: Macedon. Mount Macedon Winery is a comfortable walk from our place: uphill on the way to earn your wine and pizza, downhill home! The Mount Macedon Hotel is about 15 minutes stroll/2mins drive down the road, has great food and is serious about its craft beers. The Trading Post cafe next door is to it also great. Cyclists love climbing the hills around here, and you can walk to the top of Mount Macedon or drive up to the lovely cafe up there with its fantastic views. Hanging Rock is just a 10 minute drive from us, as is Woodend with its Holgate Brewery. Kyneton is 30 minutes up the road and also has great restaurants and cafes. Daylesford, Trentham and the Heathcote wine region are all an hour or less from here.
  • What a fantastic stay weve just had!! The hosts Rebecca and Simon could not have made us feel more welcome, nothing was too much trouble, they made our stay even more special. Their house was a wonderful eclectic mix and our room was very comfortable. We could not recommend enough.

    Emma2017-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely, spacious home in the heart of Mt Macedon, secluded and surrounded by trees, yet close enough to several local shops, in Mt Macedon and Woodend, as well as being a short drive from Hanging Rock. Rebecca and Simon offered up their warm hospitality, friendliness and local tips and advice, making our stay a really pleasant and enjoyable one. PS the dogs and goats are adorable.

    Melissa2018-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely couple. We enjoyed our stay very much. Rebecca's coconut pancake is a must to try. We had a great chat over breakfasts and definitely will recommend their place to our friends.

    Zohreh2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca and Simon were absolutely wonderful. Rebecca was very easy to organise with when planning the trip and all of the details of the unit and directions were spot on. They were very accommodating with our mountain bikes, and the dogs and goats were so friendly! (If you're not an animal fan this place may not be the best fit for you). They gave great recommendations on where to eat and where to bike. They lit the fire for us, and you could tell they just generally loved hosting. It was a very great stay.

    Sarah2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca and Simon are phenomenal hosts who are warm, welcoming and friendly. I could have sat and talked to them all day. Their property is fantastic, the pets friendly and their local knowledge and tips are outstanding. They go out of their way to make you feel at home.

    Matthew2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Bec and Simon was great. They were very accommodating, picking me up from the station and cooking yummy vegan pancakes for breakfast. The location was beautiful, perfect for walking the Macedon Ranges Track. It was almost like staying withini friends. Would definitely recommend and will be back next time I need some me time

    Patricia2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca was home to greet us when we arrived. Her house is lovely, comfortable and homely, we have a lovely bathroom with a full bath. Rebecca was around and chatted to us if we wanted, but also gave us private space. We enjoyed the snacks Rebecca made. Only wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely stay again. We enjoyed her pets who were also very friendly.

    Zhen 2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca and Simon are lovely, as is their home. Great place to stay with so many activities to do in the local area. Rebecca was super helpful, booking us a table at the local wood fired pizza place. The french toast with caramelised banana for breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend staying here!

  • The house is very quiet and beautiful! Rosemary and John (James's parents) were amazing hosts! They were extremely kind and warm to us!

    MeiMei2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Must go! James is amazing and so is his place. Dont think twice and book. We will be back for sure!

    Mat2018-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • James was the perfect host and his place was really nice. It’s the best Air BnB experience I’ve had. The place is big, with lovely amenities and a great garden. We’re thinking about coming back shortly as we had such a good time. All the small touches were there which were really thoughtful and made the visit an experience to remember.

    Cara2018-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is THE place to stay in the Woodend/Macedon area. The wonderful cottage was stylish and comfortable, with thoughtful and luxurious touches throughout - from Aesop products to chocolate biscuits. The garden, well known in this area, was spectacular - with majestic trees, a walled garden, meandering paths and an old tennis court lawn (which provided a perfect cartwheeling space for the children). The hosts were divine - they live in the larger house on the property, were there to meet us, and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay extremely comfortable and unforgettable. It was very hard to leave. One of the best AirBNB stays we have ever experienced!

    Tamara2017-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from our three night stay at this beautiful cottage and we can’t recommend it enough! The cottage was much larger than we had imagined and there was more than enough room for our three young children. James is a fabulous host and very welcoming, and we certainly appreciated the generous breakfast supplies and chocolate biscuits! The cottage has a luxurious feel to it and includes some lovely touches, including beautiful linen, coffee machine, homemade jams, Foxtel, and Aesop products in the bathroom. The Macedon Ranges has plenty to offer for a relaxing getaway or you could very easily cosy up and just stay put at the cottage. Thank you so much for having us James; we look forward to returning soon.

  • Disappointment Utterly disappointed that we had only booked a 1 nite stay! Could have spent days holed up, lounging & poring over the extensive collection of books alone. Just a v sweet spot, tucked in amongst a plantlovers garden with access to all the Macedon region has to offer, but a short drive away. Gracious, warm, welcoming hosts & a truly great stay.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Mokepilly. The decor was modern and comfortable. It was clean and cosy which soothed our souls and gave us a fabulous place to hide from the yucky Victorian weather that day. It is great value for money and pretty much tops our list of great stays for this trip. We're sorry we couldn't stay longer but I have a good feeling that we'll be back. We loved the garden setting. Communication with Nicky and Karen was great. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

  • What a spectacular spot for an R&R weekend. Our dog Kenneth thoroughly enjoyed himself and we as a couple had a beautiful weekend in the super clean and modern caravan. Breathtaking sunsets, a stones throw to Hanging Rock and a lovely lunch in Mt Macedon are all here for you to enjoy. Thanks Karyn for your hospitality. We loved it. Jac, Tim & Kenneth. Xxx

  • Very clean and cosy. We loved feeding the horses and pony, and the curious alpacas. A wonderful view and an amazing sunset on each of the three nights we stayed. The caravan was a novel experience for our son! He loved sleeping in the bunk bed! Very close to the amazing hanging rock and Mt Macedon. A good base for exploring the surrounding area.

  • My partner and I had a beautiful, peaceful stay at Macedon Cottage. Saxon and Abbey made our stay comfortable and stress-free, and the cottage itself is spacious, light, warm and clean, perfect for a winter getaway. A plus for us was that it's walking distance to eateries and shops whilst also being in a very quiet spot. We'd happily return.

    Claudia2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Macedon Cottage is exactly as described. Great little place that we both loved and felt very comfortable in. Very new and clean the lounge with fire is very homely, bedroom is Huge! Nice big comfy king bed and a really nice bathroom that made us want to update ours at home. Macedon is a really nice area- we hiked from the cottage to the top of Mt Macedon which is a great 10k return walk. Recommend eating at Baringos Japanese. Top quality atmosphere and food(on the pricey side). Mr cafe for breakfast was great. Would stay again for sure.

  • This was such a pretty location and the house was really clean. There are lots of good things to do in the area. We went up to the top of the hill after dark and saw wombats, which for a girl from Western Australia, was pretty special!

    Jane2017-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful and relaxing stay! What a fantastic place and location. Would happily stay again - and for much longer as the house has everything you need to feel comfortable with the added extra luxuries. Thank you Abbey and Saxon. See you again soon. Carly and Brett

Feel yourself unwind as you meander down the one kilometre drive to this private contemporary home set in an authentic Australian country environment. Read a book in a sunny nook, sit on the deck and watch the magnificent sunsets, cuddle up by the fire during winter or have a long soak in a hot bath. Perfect for those looking for a great base to explore the surrounding area or just somewhere to relax and enjoy the scenery.
  • Great location wonderful house very friendly hosts

  • A very special place to stay in a unique location. The house is architecturally contemporary with many lovely features and Sarah and Stephen keep it clean with lots of lovely touches that added to our experience. Definitely one of our favourite Airbnb's

  • While I don't usually go for modern homes, there was nothing plastic about this beautiful and very comfortable contemporary house. Well appointed and with wonderful views across the paddocks towards Hanging Rock, we look forward to returning, and recommend it highly. The abundance of native birds was a welcome surprise.

    Heather2017-04-13T00:00:00Z

  • Honestly, the pictures of this magnificent home do not do it justice. Sarah and Stephen's architecturally designed house, situated in the middle of the open plains of central Victoria (with a sneaky view to Hanging Rock), is a peaceful oasis. It is clear that nothing is without thought. The gorgeous double-sided fireplace is central to two separate lounge rooms, both with comfy couches, rugs, and plenty of cushions, while the clever and sustainable design of the house itself means that this heat-source alone is sufficient, even in the depths of winter (as during our stay). Sarah provided eggs, bacon, bread, butter, jam, milk, and even an avocado and juice, with tea and coffee (with plunger), and some delicious boutique chocolate to boot. Most generous! The modern kitchen has everything you need, too—we loved being snuggled up in this beautiful house too much to eat out, so we cooked ourselves a roast for dinner :) Sarah is also very easy to deal with, very happy to help with anything we might have needed. Highly recommended, and we'll certainly be back.

    Stephanie2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a fantastic location for any couple or small group looking to escape the city hustle and bustle. It's so close to hanging rock and Mt Macedon. The photos don't do the place justice, it's gorgeous with an amazing view. The kitchen and living space was very luxurious, not to mention the wonderful deep bathtub. They have included a great selection of food for breakfast and the TV has Netflix. I would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family.

Sit back and relax, read, write or research, play games, sip a gin and tonic or surf the net while you watch the clouds move across the mountain peak, or the roos manage their wild lives. Go to one of the many local farmers markets and cook up a storm in the fully equiped kitchen, or head out to a local wine bar or wood fired pizza joint. Walk to the summit from your back door, drive to Hanging Rock for a picnic, or wander into the village of Macedon for a morning coffee. Cosy and modern.
This is a comfy, recently built cottage, with rustic and rural views to Mt Macedon peak. It is located on the edge of the bush township of Macedon, an hour's drive or train ride from Melbourne. The cottage is four years old, fitted with modern comforts: double glazing, passive solar aspect, split system heating and cooling, cosy wool carpets and space to spread out. It is on a secluded 6 acre property, a 25 - 30 minute walk from the train station. Our family home is located about 20 metres from the cottage, separated by a large privacy screen. The kitchen is well equiped with an electric oven, gas stove, microwave oven, walk in pantry and drawer dishwasher. The living area spans the northern side of the house, making the most of the sun shine and the mountain and forest vista. Again on the northern side there is a spacious and peaceful deck.
The town of Macedon is a small village with a population of around 2000. The property is located about 1km from the local shops (a 15-20 minute walk or a 2 minute drive). The shops include a small IGA supermarket, a bakery, a nice cafe, a wood fire pizza restaurant, a wine bar, another restaurant, a newsagent (post office), real estate. Gisborne - bigger town with more resources - is a 10 minute drive away, as is Woodend. Melbourne is an hour's drive south, and Bendigo an hour north.

  • Great weekend getaway place to explore the region or attend concerts at Hanging Rock (Midnight Oil) like we did. Extremely comfortable with a wood fire and cosy lounging area. Breakfast provisions were provided along with some lovely extras. Really enjoyed using the old skool percolator with coffee grounds on the stove (need to go out and buy one of those!). Garden is just beautiful as are other gardens in the area this time of the year with the rhododendrons in full bloom. Comfy bed, good linen and towels. Had a nice meal at the pub a few metres up the road and okay coffee at the local store almost next door. Other than those two places there are no other shops etc but that is what makes it such a nice quiet getaway. Close to other hubs in the area such as Woodend. All in all a great airbnb option for a weekend away from Melbourne.

  • The cottage was wonderful with beautiful surrounds. The space was romantic and comfy, with all the necessary amenities. The wood fireplace was especially nice with the cool nights. The local cafe and pub are both excellent for food and entertainment, and just one minute down the street.

Rebecca was a fantastic host. We arrived on Friday evening to a warm cottage with a welcome pack of some groceries and wine. It was very relaxing sitting by the fire with a glass of wine and we definitely hope to return again soon!

Toddler and baby friendly the house was well equipped and all the rooms were spread out so we never felt like we were climbing over each other. Kangaroos, Kookaburras, a basketball hoop, trampoline and pond with ducks made it extra special for the kids. The spa was great for the adults. You will need to bring additional wood and kindling iff you are planning on enjoying a fire all weekend. There is reverse cycle heating/cooling if you decide not to have a fire. Kitchen has everything you need for a weekend away including small fridge with freezer, microwave, electric frypan and two burner electric cook top. All pots pans plates etc are supplied as well as coffee, tea, hot chocolate, plunger coffee sugar, salt and pepper and biscuits. Note: no oven in cabin, BBQ supplied on request at cost of $10 In summer it is 5 to 6 degrees cooler here on the mountain than down in the city making for a welcome respite on those hot summer days. In winter as a result of altitude we often get snow which is so beautiful and a special treat. The national park of the Macedon Ranges surrounds the property making it very secluded and an animal and bird haven. The nearest township is a 15 minute drive so our seclusion may not suit those who seek a quick cappuccino. Better to sit on your deck, have a BBQ with a nice wine and take in the view. By the way, the air up here is pure!! Our Wombat Lodge cabin is one of three cabins we have to offer. The others called "Eagles Nest" and "The Gums" are also listed with ABB.
Surrounded by state forest, our property is unique in that we have no immediate neighbours. Our altitude gives the cabin sensational views. We get snow over winter months The seclusion offers a special quietness and beautifully clean air

Our well appointed cabin has everything you need for your magnificent trip to the Macedon ranges. It's perfectly suited for a couple (or couple with an infant) and we supply all linen, plus a continental breakfast for two. House trained pets are welcome, however we don't have secure fences.
The cabin is a completely separate building on our property, with it’s own driveway and parking area. Our main house and the cabin are close together, however the configuration allows our cabin guests a sense of privacy and seclusion. The cabin has one large bedroom with a comfy double bed, small couch and lots of cupboards. Then there's a combined living / dining area in the main room complete with full kitchen, wide bench top, bench stools, table and chairs, 3 seater couch and a TV. The toilet and bathroom (shower / sink) are separate, both coming off the main living area. We're happy to accomodate parents with an infant, at no extra charge. There's plenty of room in the main bedroom for your portacot.
Our cabin is a great place to stay if you're in town for an event or have plans to explore all the amazing things to see and do; in and around Mount Macedon. The open gardens, local restaurants, wineries, bush walks and points of interest make this area so compelling for visitors. Plan your trip to make sure you take in some of the sights. We are happy to give you recommendations on dinner reservations, points of interest and ideas to make your trip even more special. Just ask!
  • What a fantastic holiday cabin. Everything you could possibly need; from fluffy white bath robes and slippers to magazines and the weekend newspaper. Meagan provided wonderful recommendations and we lunched at the Macedon Wine Room, had a pizza from Ida Red and breakfasted at 'Mr'. Just a short jaunt to the mountain top to view the cross and the view. We could just as easily have tucked ourselves up in the warm cabin and stayed in as we'd been provided with everything from bacon and eggs to smoked salmon and divine local bread (from Millet Road Maker in Gisborne). Meagan, greeted us to make sure we had everything we needed and we knew she wouldn't be far away if we needed something. Beautiful daffodils in the garden as well. We were there for some events in Woodend and surrounding towns and it proved to be the perfect base for us.

  • Our Cabin was warm, welcoming and well set up when we arrived with everything we needed. Meagan's recommendations for dinner were great and a short walk away.... a bonus not having to drive the car. The fridge and pantry stocked with all the neccesities we needed for our short stay was a pleasant surprise and much appreciated, as were the bacon, eggs, fresh bread, yoghurt and juice for breakie. Comfortable bed and bath robes along with our 12pm checkout were bonuses. Wished we could have stayed longer. Great hospitality Meagan.

  • Our stay at Wombat Lodge was brilliant! We cannot wait to return! Suzanne & Tony's cabin had everything we needed to relax right down to the last detail. We enjoyed the bushwalking and taking in the incredible view from our cabin deck. It was lovely and clean and we were so happy that the bed was very comfy and had quality sheets. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay and for being so accommodating with our little one! See you next time we need to unwind. Nathan & Jess

    Nathan2017-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Suzanne's place. We stayed in Eagles Nest which was gorgeous and had a lovely outdoor decking looking over spectacular views. Whilst we didn't get to spend too much time outside due to weather, the location was beautiful and there was plenty of indoor activities instead. The only down fall was that the cabins were immediately next to one another which was not described very well online. Overall our stay was amazing and we'd definitely come back! Thank you Suzanne for having us!

  • This was an excellent stay for my wife and ten month old son. The unit had the basics we needed and many luxuries, such as extensive library of books, dvds, and fresh brekkie items. It is in a beautiful secluded area but still very close to Woodend. The family was very accommodating and friendly and also gave us our space. Highest recommendations!

  • Natalie's place is gorgeous and I would recommend it to anyone. The location is beautiful, she is a great and thoughtful host, it is brilliant for families, my boys loved all the toys and also playing outside in the trampoline and the tree house.

    Helena2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely relaxing stay at this get-away, the hosts were very friendly but not intrusive and their children are lovely and were kind to our young boys too. Our boys really enjoyed the space to run around outdoors and see the chickens, horses, dog and cat. Also the Tree house, trampoline and stacks of toys in the bunk room were fantastic for keeping them busy and entertained. Also Natalie suggested the playground in Woodend as being very good and it was awesome - a definite must go to! The beds in the home were extremely comfortable and there were plenty of books and some dvds for quiet times. We very much enjoyed our stay :)

    Lynda2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Nat's cottage was a stunning getaway for our family. The kids absolutely loved being on the farm with the horses and chooks. The cottage is perfectly kitted out for the kids and babies. And to top it off, Nat's kids were so open and playful with our young ones. We loved our visit and will def be back

  • Though simple, we had a lovely little winter getaway in the little house on Natalie and family's property, just out of Woodend. Unfortunately, as a family, we all had varying stages of flu (and our 2 year old daughter a bad ear infection) but enjoyed nonetheless having a few nights away. Our daughter loved the animals, seeing kangaroos, horses and the family dog!

    Sam2016-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • My little boy and I had a lovely time at this Woodend home. Natalie was patient as I struggled with AirBnb's verification process. She was helpful and easygoing in all interactions. Her family gave us a warm, helpful welcome and we had private time to ourselves too. We loved seeing the chickens, horses and kangaroos. The book and DVD collection could have entertained me for weeks. The home was rustic and comfy. We'd love to visit another time as it was a gorgeous setting.

    Tanya2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Natalie's getaway was a fantastic spot for our family to lodge with plenty of toys in the bedroom for our two boys to entertain themselves for days! Chickens and horses to watch and listen too and to top off our weekend...Natalie had a fire pit crackling for us on our last night which made it a really special weekend.

Feel yourself unwind as you meander down the 1km drive to Five Mile - a private, generously proportioned contemporary home built for all seasons. The house cleverly frames views to Mount Macedon and Hanging Rock. Enjoy the peace in an authentic Australian country setting. Read a book in a sunny nook, sit on the deck and watch the magnificent sunsets, cuddle up by the fire or have a long soak in a hot bath. Perfect for groups who would like a beautiful place to sew, walk, cycle or just relax.
  • This is a beautiful home that has spectacular views across the paddocks to Hanging Rock. We had a large family gathering there over Easter and the home was comfortable for ages 0-90 years. The house is both beautiful and functional with spacious bedrooms and bathrooms and large living areas with floor to ceiling windows that take advantage of the landscape. This lovely home helped to make our family gathering over the Easter weekend to be relaxing and rejuvenating. We are hoping to return for Easter next year!

  • Beautiful, comfortable home with spectacular views. Central fireplace a feature in this architecturally designed home with all amenities. Sarah and Steven very welcoming.

    Denise2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • A big thank you to Sarah and Stephen who were excellent hosts. They were very helpful and provided quick responses and feedback whenever I had any queries and nothing was too much trouble. You immediately feel your stress levels dissipate with the location of the house looking out onto a little dam and a classic Australian farmland landscape with Hanging Rock seeming like only a stones throw away. The accomodation is very comfortable and easily catered for 10 guests with the fireplace the drawcard and main social hub. A fully decked out kitchen means you can either eat in and have a “family” dinner around the giant dining table or head into Woodend for some pub grub. Highly recommended, will definitely be taking a crew back there in the future.

    Loren2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is the most amazing place we have ever stayed in. Located in the midst of a farm, the outlook is beautiful and relaxing, with the water in front of us and Hanging Rock in the distance. An abundance of comfortable beds with warm doonas and good pillows make it a terrific place for two families easily. This is backed up with a large dining table and plenty of crockery etc. Everything has been thought of, and the food on arrival was fantastic. The chooks supplied us with fresh eggs each day which were delicious. We walked into Woodend each day, which is about 3 kms away. Hosts Sarah and Stephen are welcoming and helpful. We will be back!

    Geraldine 2017-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Sarah and Stephen's mansion! The place is huge and was perfect for a large gathering or family get together. Sarah had the wood fire going for us on arrival and the house was equipped with everything we needed and lots of delicious food and snacks. Multiple people from my group mentioned that they were planning to come back either with family or cycling groups to enjoy this beautiful accommodation. Couldn't recommend Sarah and Stephen's place more!!!

The Woodend township is an approx 5 min drive from the unit and has a range of cafes, a supermarket, fuel station, restaurants and boutique shops with other options available in the nearby townships of Gisborne & Kyneton. This unit is in a centralised location within the Macedon Ranges with ease of proximity to various wineries, nature walks and other tourist destinations. A good location to stay at if you're attending an event at the nearby Hanging Rock! http://www.visitmacedonranges.com/see-do/the-great-outdoors/hanging-rock/
  • Great spot. House very clean ... even had a coffee plunger and enough blankets (an absolute necessity in Woodend). Gina very pleasant and accomodating.

  • We had an enjoyable stay at Gina’s place whilst attending a music festival at Hanging Rock. The accommodation was perfectly located, just a short drive out of Woodend. Gina was a wonderful host, providing us with all the basic food items, including beer!

  • If you are looking for a lovely clean and welcoming home on a gorgeous property, look no further, you've found it! Gina was a fabulous host who went above and beyond for our lil family in town for a wedding. We brought our 3 month old along for the ride and she went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed, i.e. port-a-cot, extra bedding, etc. The home itself is very large, and comfortably fits 2 couples. Gina also had coffee/tea, milk and bread on hand for morning brekky which was greatly appreciated! We wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Thanks for everything Gina!

Wanderlust is a beautiful 4 bedroom home set in an acre of bushland on Mount Macedon. The house has spectacular views over Hanging Rock and the Cobaw ranges. Enjoy all that the Macedon Ranges has to offer.
Wanderlust was build in 2010 and was designed to take full advantage of the spectacular views over Hanging Rock. When you wake up in the master bedroom or one of the two bedrooms (one double room and one single room with trundle), Hanging Rock is there to wow you. The kitchen and dining area features a large window which frames the view fantastically and the large sliding doors from the living area lead you to a large deck where you can relax and enjoy the sounds from the forest, gaze at the stars and off course catch another view of the Rock. The down stairs area has another bedroom with a queen size bed and there is a small lounge room. Both these rooms have sliding doors leading to the lower garden. From the kitchen you can keep an eye on the chickens and the veggie patch. You are free to take some of the produce in the vegetable garden or eggs from the chickens. The only thing we ask you is to feed the chickens and lock them up at night. We are frequently visited by kangaroos, wallabies and kookaburra's. Occasionally you can encounter an echidna or a wombat or hear the mating call of a koala in the forest. Also spectacular are the wedge tailed eagles soaring overhead looking for prey. Unfortunately there are also some foxes who have a keen eye on the chickens. The house is heated with a large fire box and the hydronic heating system keeps the whole house warm and cozy. There are two bedrooms with queen size beds and one bedroom with a double bed and one room with single bed plus trundle. The master bedroom has an en-suite with shower and the main bathroom has a shower and a large bath.
Wanderlust is located in the forest on Mount Macedon. There are some fantastic short walks that for instance lead you through the forest to the Camels Hump. A 10 km walk return brings you to the Cross on Mount Macedon or if you are keen you can walk the Macedon Ranges Walking Track which is around 20 km's. If you are a keen cyclist then Mount Macedon road and Straws lane will get your heart pumping. Mount Macedon village is a 6 kilometer drive. The local pub in Mount Macedon has great meals and has a cozy bar and a great outdoor beer garden. Woodend is also 6 km away and has some nice restaurants, bars and shops. The nearest supermarket and petrol station is in Woodend. Other places to go are Trentham (Metropolitan hotel) and Kyneton with its many beautiful restaurants in famous Piper Street. Of course you will have to climb hanging rock or visit one of the many wineries in the region.
  • Wanderlust embraced us on a cold, wet, and blustery weekend, keeping us warm and comfortable. The beds were great, the showers were hot, the chickens were funny, and the garden was lovely. The view, when the cloud lifted, was amazing - sitting at the dining table was so easy it was where we spent most of our time. Fiona and Erwin's communications were timely, accurate, and very friendly. The instructions they sent through were clear and easy, which was good when arriving in the dark. My friends and I loved staying at Wanderlust, each of us not wishing to leave on the Sunday! I would wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone looking for a comfortable and easy break.

  • We were 3 girls looking for a real weekend away, but not too far from the city. We absolutely loved it. The house is spacious and so comfortable and whilst we went in winter, I can see that it would be great in summer too. It had everything we needed and we loved feeding the chickens! The house is in a beautiful setting with loads of walking trails and scenic drives. Not far from Woodend, Hanging Rock and wineries. Highly recommend it!

    Maria2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing relaxing weekend would recommend it to all. We had friends staying with young children who where able to stay down stairs and out of any noise ruckus from upstairs. The Photos do not do this place justice.

  • Beautiful house with an awesome view of Hanging Rock. There was plenty of space for everyone. The vegie/herb garden & being able to look after the chickens were a huge hit with the kids. The Christmas tree was up & a welcoming touch as our group arrived Friday night and the owners left a gift for the children in our group, which they loved.

  • Thanks Fiona. We had a fantastic weekend at Wonderlust. The directions were easy to follow and the fire was on when we arrived. It was my wifes birthday and we were greeted witha card and a bottle of bubbles (thank you) The house was spotless and and lights left on as we arrived in the dark. There were 6 of us staying the weekend and we were all impressed by the stunning view from all the rooms. The Kitchen was Fantastic and the dinning area (where we spent most of our time) was awesome with its huge window and bench seat. All in all the house was amazing and we will be back, thats for sure. Everything was simply Perfect!!

  • Awesome place

    Sam2017-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wanderlust is a stunning family home set in the most amazing location, the uninterrupted views from the lounge, kitchen & deck are incredible. Collecting eggs was enjoyable & the kitchen was incredibly well equipped which made for some delicious meals. We used the chiminea on the deck & the fire pit in the garden. We also took advantage of the local walks Fiona recommended & enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. With a big comfy couch & fireplace we caught up on much needed quality family time with our newborn. Please know this is a family home outside of Airbnb bookings where a young family are raising their two children so personal touches are around, once settled in though you feel as if your house sitting for friends.

  • Lovely house and we really enjoyed our stay, especially the stunning views. The kids really loved the chickens and fetching eggs each morning!

A comfortable farm house only 5 minutes walk to the mysterious Hanging Rock, The Rockin' R Ranch offers a true country experience. It sits on 30 acres of pasture and garden with 10 horses and foals (Friesian and Andalusian) and views to Mount Macedon and Hanging Rock. Go on a picnic. Climb the rock, pet a foal, groom a horse, swim in the dam, visit nearby wineries, stroll through the garden and the gardens of Mount Macedon or visit the Memorial cross.
  • Beautiful location and great to see the horses in the paddock. A really nice secluded place for some peace and quiet

  • Wonderful farm-stay in a scenic spot super-close to hanging rock. We enjoyed interacting with the horses, birds and guinea pigs, and stoking the fire to keep ourselves warm and cosy. Bring your gumboots!

  • Thank you Robyn for being such an amazing host. from the moment we walked in it felt like home. we loved waking up to the sound of the horses running in the paddock. staying in a home instead of a tiny hotel room with an 8yo and a new baby is was so nice. Isabelle loved getting to play with the puppies. thank you again. wound highly recommend for anyone wanting a quiet getaway.

  • Robyn place is the perfect getaway for the city, it is amazing to spend a cold winter evening in front of the fire with hanging rock just outside your window. The house is truly beautiful. Don't look anywhere else, this place was a gem

    Giacomo2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Robyn’s property was absolutely beautiful, getting to go out & see the horses was definitely a highlight. Would recommend :)

  • I woke in the morning, and tried to hear something, anything for 10 minutes - I could not. Coming from home in the city, this was such a peaceful experience. Before too long the birds were singing, then we were privileged to say hello to the property's 10 or so horses after breakfast. It was a wonderful escape. A beautiful home in the middle of a beautiful farm. The accommodation is basic, but comfortable. Be sure to keep the wood burner fired up in winter - it adds to the atmosphere and keeps your toes warm :).

The quality of accommodation, upkeep of the extensive grounds, appliances, furniture and appointments well exceeded our previous experiences and were first class.
