  • Second visit here and already talking about when we can go back. Such a lovely place and Harvey and Nancy are wonderful hosts. The property inside and outside is beautiful and relaxing. Was able to hike a little this time and really enjoyed seeing more of the property. One of the best Airbnb experiences we've had, if not the best.

    Jeanette2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Harv and Nancy's guest house is spectacular. It is warm, cozy and very stylishly appointed. But even better than the guest house are Harv and Nancy themselves. They are very friendly, helpful and offered some very nice activities for us at the property. They are five stars all around!

    Gary2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Harvey and Nancy's vineyard cottage was way beyond our expectations! The well appointed and lovely decor, the thoughtful food and beverages that were available to us, and Harvey and Nancy's genuine hospitality made us feel comfortable and pampered. We will definitely return to this retreat so we can continue to explore more of Amador and El Dorado's wine country!

  • Once upon a time in a land far away things were perfect. People had no worries and everyone was friendly and neighborly. Politics did not divide people. Folks were kind and made cheese together and even uncorked champagne in unique ways. Once upon a time at Linebarier Vineyards life was at it's best thanks to Nancy and Harvey! We will be back!

    Dave2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Far and away the best AirBNB experience we've ever had. The home was even nicer in person than in photos, stocked to the rim with everything you could ever need, beautiful and easy to access location and the nicest hosts you could ever have. Harvey and Nancy really made the whole weekend extra special! From champagne opening with a saber to Ricotta cheese making and more, it was certainly a trip we won't soon forget. Couldn't recommend more and we hope to return soon :)

    Tyler2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far the best air b & b we have ever stayed in. Harvey and Nancy were amazing hosts. They had truly thought of everything to make our stay so relaxing. The place was very comfortable and stylishly decorated. The surrounding property was absolutely gorgeous. Be sure to check out their vineyard and flat creek. We will definitely be coming back.

    Victoria2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Where is the 20 star rating?? Because Harvey and Nancy deserve one! Their place is just amazing. They are above and beyond thoughtful and accommodating hosts. This was our number one stay for sure! Thank you both very much for a wonderful weekend.

    Jindrus2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is like staying at a private winery. It is quiet, clean, secluded, and friendly. If Harvey asks you to meet him for bubbly to watch the sunset, say YES! Our stay far exceeded any expectations that we had.

Comfortable 350sf guest suite in a safe, quiet neighborhood in the Northern California Sierra Foothill community of Fiddletown. Fiddletown is in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley wine country and just minutes away from 30 + wineries and tasting rooms. The cottage is located 60 miles from Kirkwood resort and approximately 80 miles to South Lake Tahoe.
The room offers a microwave, electric tea pot, toaster, coffee pot and a small refrigerator with freezer. The bathroom offers a claw-foot tub, heated towel rack and a cabinet for storage. There is a queen size bed and a table for two. We also offer a fenced outside area for your pleasure to enjoy the outdoors with seating.
Fiddletown is a small town in the Sierra Foothills just 5 miles east of Plymouth, CA in Amador County. There is a post office, a community center, a church, candy store with coffee, tennis courts and horse shoe pits that are available to use during your stay. Unfortunately there are no stores in Fiddletown, so Plymouth is the closest town with services. In Plymouth there is a grocery store that closes at 8pm. Colina de Oro Mexican restaurant that is open for lunch and dinner Sunday -Thursday until 830pm and Friday and Saturday until 9pm. Enjoy local beer at the Amador Brewing Company Friday-Sunday with different food options daily. Marlene and Glenn's diner is open Wednesday-Sunday for breakfast and lunch. The Vintage Market and Deli on Main St. is open daily with a variety of food and drink options. There are wine tasting rooms in Plymouth, and many more a short drive into the Shenandoah valley. If you follow highway 49 south towards Jackson, you can travel through Amador City and Sutter Creek, both are small towns with a lot to offer for shopping, food and drinks.
  • Lovely decor and space. Very good communication with hosts without being in any way obtrusive. Very quiet. We planned microwaveable meals and were able to have breakfast and dinners at "home". We loved it at the Cottage! Thanks!

  • Great fast communication. Space is cozy and lovely.

  • What a jewel this place was, the hosts went above and beyond to make sure our stay was special, the bottle of wine that they left for us was absolutely amazing !!! This was place was sparkling clean, we would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend to anyone, if you have a question or need some help the hosts get back with you immediately. We will definitely try and come back and stay here again :-)

    Leah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a sweet little cottage. It was a perfect central location to explore the local area. It was impeccably clean and I will most definitely return to do more wine tasting in the area.

    Paula2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We greatly enjoyed our stay at Jessica and Matt's peaceful cottage. It is located close to the Shenandoah Valley wineries and nearby town of Plymouth which offers good dining and shopping. Cottage was welcoming, Jess was quick to respond to any questions and check-in was a breeze. We particularly enjoyed the hummingbird greeting us every morning when visiting its feeder. We'll be back!

  • I'd love to keep this place all to ourselves. But ... I promise, you will not be disappointed. Already planning our next visit. Thanks, Leon!

    David2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Leon and Michelle’s place was wonderful. During the summer they are a wedding venue and otherwise a b&b. The location is great- you’re near wineries, hiking and cute old mining towns. They cook an amazing breakfast, have a very cool barn to hang out in, have cute animals (pony, goats, chickens, ducks, kittens and two dogs) and a beautiful pond to look out on. There is a communal kitchen anyone can use, and while there are no tv’s in the rooms, there is one in the saloon & they have a bunch of movies to watch. I would definitely recommend!!

    Hallie2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay and Leon was a great host!

    Matthew2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a hidden gem. Absolutely beautiful and serene. The hosts are great and take such pride in their work. I highly recommending finding some time to chat with them because they have some amazing stories!

    Preeti2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Warm country living. Walking distance to a winery that was happy to please. The host made you feel as though you were family. They were the cool uncle you want to go visit.

    David2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a hidden gem! If nothing else you should go just for Leon’s breakfast! So delicious! Beautiful grounds, lots of animals and a one minute walk to winery. Can’t be beat

The Cowboy Cabin sits independently within our 10acre ranch. We have four ponds home to blue herons, wild ducks, geese, turtles, fish, etc. There are fields and wooded areas with many spots to enjoy the outdoors at the property.
You will be cozy, comfortable and in touch with nature at the Cowboy Cabin. And in a great location for a fantastic weekend of wine tasting, strolling historic towns, exploring Amador County or, simply enjoying country life.
Fiddletown is a historic Gold Rush era town, located within 4-10 miles from well known Shenandoah Valley wineries. We are 54miles from Kirkwood Mountain Resort in South Lake Tahoe area. Plymouth, Amador City and Sutter Creek are a short distance and offer historic charm as well as shopping and dining experiences.
  • Wendi and Carlos have a charming and rustic cabin that is peaceful and very comfortable. We'll be back again...

    Denise2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and cozy cabin. Loved the Alpacas roaming around in the morning!

    Denise2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The place is ideal to relax in the middle of nature and animals. The house is decorated by the works of the owners which makes the place unique and atypical.

    Camille2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay. We are pretty private so we didn’t meet Wendi or Carlos. I felt if we needed or wanted to meet them, they would be great, and I appreciated them keeping their distance when we didn’t initiate it. Alpacas. We exchanged messages through the app and they were responsive and very sweet. The cabin is modest and simple, the beds are comfy and warm, kitchen was basic and sufficient. Alpacas. The decorations were unique and cohesive, giving the cabin a rad cabin vibe. Everything was clean without feeling sterile. Shower had enough hot water for our quick showers, didn’t try to push beyond that. Amenities we appreciated: TV and DVD player. Only a couple of DVDs there so bring your own. No cable or anything else, which fits with the place Warm blankets everywhere! Alpacas Pressure cooker Coffee maker and kettle I was concerned about being too chilly (February visit) but we were able to quickly warm the place with the stove heater thing in the mornings (alpacas) and evenings and the blankets were warm enough to get through the nights. Alpacas. The lowest it got was 42F so I can’t speak to anything lower than that. Alpacas.

Our comfortable and quiet guest cottage is set among Ponderosa pines in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, a short drive to more than 40 Shenandoah Valley wineries and historic Gold mining sites (a hosted vineyard walk and private wine tasting can be arranged.) The Cottage easily accommodates 2 couples in two bedrooms, each with private bathroom. The redwood deck is accessed from all rooms. It's great for outside dining or just enjoying a glass of wine in the quiet evening
The larger bedroom has twin beds that make up into a king bed, a walk-in closet, and bathroom with tub and shower. The second bedroom has a queen bed and bathroom with shower. The kitchen & dining space are fully equipped. Wi-Fi communications is included as is central heating/AC, wood-burning stove, alarms and hardwood floors.
Our property is in a wooded rural area easily accessible by private vehicle. The Fiddletown winegrape appellation is known for old higher-level Zinfandel vineyards, one of which is our neighbor. Other adjacent neighbors are small horse ranches. Our pasture has cows of all sizes much of the year.
  • My buddy and I had a wonderful time here. Helen and her family are so thoughtful, and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is beautiful, spotless, modern and quiet, and just slightly over an hour away from Kirkwood. I definitely wanna come back again to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. A small detail during our stay really touched me. Shortly before our departure, a fallen tree nearby caused a unexpected power outage. Helen kept us informed the whole time. When we stepped in the cottage, the fireplace had already been lit for a while to keep the place warm. One of the nicest hosts I’ve had with AirBnb.

    Matt2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • It’s all been said in previous reviews-we agree 100%. Helen and Austin are amazing hosts, and their guest cottage is truly the nicest Airbnb we’ve ever stayed in. We’d love to live here full time :-)

    Renee2019-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Impeccably clean, all the amenities you could want and a calm, pretty location. Great hosts too.

    Cassie2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful & secluded spot!! Helen could not be more welcoming and the coffee and breakfast items were so appreciated! Be sure to bring any food for other meals with you as it is quite a drive to groceries and restaurants. We wouldn’t hesitate to return!!

    Holly2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome! Stayed with some friends and the host was amazing and very kind. Can't wait to return!

    Dalton2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn't have been more pleased with Helen's accommodations. We needed the two bedrooms and the layout provided an added touch of privacy. We chose the location to visit Amador County wineries and it worked out great. Helen and her husband were both very welcoming and genuine.

    Mary Anne2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Photos definitely do not do this lovely space justice. It’s a peaceful escape from everything, complete with an apple orchard! We stayed w our 3 kids and loved the games and CDs available. There are so many thoughtful touches - extra bedding, breakfast items, games, candles, firewood. It is very possibly the best AirBnB we have ever stayed in. And the mattresses were wonderfully firm too! We will certainly be back.

Enjoy wine tasting, incredible restaurants, vintage towns with antique shops, guided gold mine tours, hiking, cave spelunking, concerts and more.
Charm doesn't begin to describe the decor of Chalet Vigne. Carrara marble counter tops in the kitchen add to the timeless feel of the fully equipped kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances. The Keurig Beverage System offers a variety of complimentary coffees, teas, and hot chocolates. After a long day of activities, you can soak in a vintage clawfoot bathtub. Chalet Vigne is situated at the crossroads of three wine country regions, Amador County Shenandoah Valley, Fairplay of El Dorado County, and the famous Fiddletown Zinfandel vineyards. Within minutes, you can explore over 50 wineries of the Sierra Foothills. Many award-winning wines are rooted in our wonderful soil that mimics the Mediterranean soil and climate. Rich in the history of the California Gold Rush era, the area has something for everyone: Wine tasting, incredible restaurants, vintage towns with antique shops, guided gold-mine tours, hiking, cave spelunking, concerts and of course, just enjoying the fantastic scenery.
River Pines was developed in 1927 as a vacation destination. It is a rural community with narrow winding streets located on the South Fork of the Cosumnes River. Back in the day, small cabins were built as summer homes for folks from the San Francisco Bay Area and the Sacramento Valley. Most recently, the area has regained popularity as the cabins are being restored and the area has exploded as a very desirable wine country destination.

A stay at our one-of-a-kind barn house is an exceptional get-away experience. Located in the Sierra foothills wine country on our 42-acre ranch, it is close to wineries, restaurants, shops, and historical sites of the Gold Rush.
We call this the "barn house" because it occupies a corner of our barn/workshop. It is a wonderful space, smack dab in the middle of a beautiful rural setting, but with a very urban feel. There is everything here to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable: 1 bedroom with a cal king bed; a FULLY equipped kitchen; dvd player + various dvds; wireless internet; indoor wood burning stove for cosy evening fires (firewood provided); outdoor charcoal gill (charcoal provided); and outdoor dining space on your own private patio with a GORGEOUS view (trust me, that's not an exaggeration!). This space is located on our 75-acre ranch where you are welcome to experience ranch life as much or as little as you want. We have 20+ ewes and lambs, a family of goats, lots of chickens (we supply you with their eggs!), two dogs, 2 cats, and several ducks that live full time on the pond. The barn house is surrounded by our small vineyard of Primitivo grapes, plus there are groomed walking trails throughout the ranch. The setting is really stunning, with lots of heritage oaks and rolling hills. Guests can take in as much or as little ranch life as they like. They are welcome to explore the property at will. We are happy to make your stay an enjoyable and hassle-free one. We love meeting new people but are very good at giving guests all the privacy they need. We live on the other side of the property so we're always around to answer questions and show you the lay of the land. The barn house is perfectly located to experience everything Amador county has to offer. Wine tasting at the fine wineries of Shenandoah Valley or El Dorado County is just a short drive away. In addition to the wineries, this area has lots of historical sites and charming little towns to explore. Just to mention a few options, you can visit Indian Grinding Rock Historical Park, explore caves at Black Chasm Cavern, or browse the art galleries and antique shops in Sutter Creek and Amador City. Amador also has really excellent places to eat: try breakfast at nearby Element in Sutter Creek, lunch at Andrae's Bakery in Amador City (best bakery in northern CA!) and dinner at the highly acclaimed restaurant Taste in Plymouth. Guests will need a car. If you happen to be looking for a place to accommodate a larger family/friends group, we have a 2 bedroom cottage on the property that is available on Airbnb as well.
  • What a beautiful space! It's warm and comfortable, with a great view of a working farm. Sherry was very accommodating. I highly recommend her place.

    Ben2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend this stay. We had a wonderful time relaxing in the clean and quite barn. Our dog had room to run and loved exploring the farm.

    Elizabeth2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fabulous place. Quiet, secluded but not far from wineries. Highly recommended

    Liz2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is our third or fourth stay at the Barn House. It’s an airy, peaceful space, a bit of a drive from town, but so worth it. We especially appreciate our hosts’ generous touches — fresh eggs, their own wine, fruit and more. We usually visit a few wineries, and this time we discovered two worth mentioning: Rombauer has opened a tasting room on Steiner Road, and Wilderotter, on Shenandoah School Road, offers a great tasting experience (good wine, too). And don’t miss Kehret off Mount Aukum Road for the best view.

    Cathleen2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was our third time staying at Sherry and Dan’s. We love this farm getaway so much! The space is well laid out and has anything you could need - even farm fresh eggs and a bottle of their very own wine. It’s a serene and quiet stay that always feels too short. The land itself is stunning, offering beautiful walks through the trees and a great ensemble of animals: sheep, goats, pigs, ducks, chickens, cats, and dogs. Sherry and Dan even let us bottle feed a lamb and help feed the pigs! We are so grateful they share their farm to visitors, and we are already looking forward to our next stay.

    Kim2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • One of my family’s favorite local places to stay.

    Leslie2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit and it was as good as the first. We came from Silicon Valley to relax and got just that. If not sitting/walking at the ranch (enjoying the antics of the lambs, pigs, chickens and goats), you can take a short ride to many old gold rush towns or related museums/parks. For those that read my 2018 review, I had too much fun and never got to that book. Sherry is a great host!

    Glenn M.2019-10-22T00:00:00Z

This is an historic home in Fiddletown-casual and comfortable. There are 2 bedrooms. Please note that we charge per bed used. Each additional bed is $25.00 so please be accurate in your bed count. Home is equipped with all the essentials to make your stay in the wine country comfortable.
This home was once the town's brewery and is filled with rustic charm. The patio offers a place to casually entertain. There is a gas BBQ that we ask that you clean after use.
This is an old gold rush era town. Next store there is the Schallhorn building- an old Blacksmith shop and rumored to be a Wells Fargo stagecoach stop. On the other side is the Fiddletown Community Center with a giant fiddle on the roof. Down the block are other historic buildings from this era.
  • This is the second time we stayed at this house and it was great once again. Great location for a quiet getaway in the foothills. The full kitchen is nice, so we didn't need to go out to eat every meal. We hope to visit again!

  • Spacious and secluded retreat. This stay was peaceful and relaxing and JoAnne is very hospitable!

  • We held our wedding at a venue in Fiddletown, renting this home for my Aunt to stay. She fell in love with it’s quiet rustic charm, and we benefited from JoAnne keeping us well informed of local conditions. It is a very peaceful space and JoAnne is an excellent host.

    Jamie2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a charming stay! The history and novelty of JoAnne's place made for a fun experience. Fiddletown is quiet and definitely off the beaten path, so be prepared for solace. If you're there on a Saturday, be sure to check out the Chew Kee Store (museum) and the rest of the walking tour. The house itself offered a comfortable stay with everything you need for a relaxing time. The yard and deck were especially great during our summer visit. We hope to be back!

    Amy2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Joanne's place was perfect for what we needed and very affordable. Thank you so much for letting us use your unique home in Fiddletown!

  • The Crush Pad was the perfect place for a weekend stay for five of our three-generation family members. The location worked great for our first-time visit to the El Dorado County wine country - it's surrounded by vineyards and wineries. The country home itself is modern in all respects with two nice bathrooms (the showers are great) and a large and fully-equipped kitchen. It was impeccably clean and quiet. We would definitely stay there again on our next trip to the area.

    Peter2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed here a couple of times now and it's a great house surrounded by awesome wineries that are open to the public.

  • Be prepared to enjoy the private Creek and lake. We couldn’t get over the massive land surrounding the house. If it were warmer we would have enjoyed the detached game room, dining areas and other fun rooms. It was a pleasant surprise to find how much land we had to roam on.

    Anh2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Miss this place so much already, I can’t stop thinking about it. It is a very big cabin in the enchanting good green woods, the grounds are historic and the place has it’s own story. Everything was so comfortable the chimney was very relaxing (perfect crackling fire) I was able to play some music and watch a movie late night with a movie projector, that’s just a few amenities, there’s more. WiFi worked great for uploading pictures, and my kids loved the game room, the space to wonder, I took them to the wood shack to help get more wood for fire, grilling was wonderful and the kitchen had coffee. Overall, It is exactly what you want if your looking to escape. Hospitality was great, I was very appreciative and Carissa thank you for being so responsive to all my questions and concerns.

There is a well stocked kitchen and outdoor grill for the foodie, different lounging areas and two hammocks for the person looking to relax, game room for the kids and young at heart, outdoor setting on a creek for the outdoorsy crowd, and gorgeous chandeliers and outdoor lighting that sets the romantic mood for the love birds. The cabin is a minute or two drive from multiple wineries and the Consumnes River. The host was very easy to deal with and very responsive.

We recommend: E16 Skinner Element 79 Mediterranean Vineyards Katie’s Country Kitchen - 1 mile for- Breakfast/Lunch/Brunch The closest grocery stores are 15-20 min away, including Pokerville Market in Plymouth or Holiday Market in Pleasant Valley. It’s best to bring your own food in for your stay. About 1 mile away is a True Hardware that has basic food staples.
  • Martine's place is phenomenal! It is a great mix of outdoor relaxation, different pace, and new adventures near-by. The location is close to other wineries, few neat restaurants, and the mountains (Kirkwood is 1.5hr drive via a non-busy road). The house has a great layout for a family (or two) and the outdoor space is well designed. We really enjoyed the freedom to explore the outdoors without getting into a car and the kids loved playing outside, climbing trees, and just generally running around without the fear of "where did they go?". The winery also offers some amazing wine and we had a blast talking to the wine-maker. Overall, the place is a gem and we will be coming back :)

  • Really enjoyed the stay. Nice comfortable house in a great location. My dog and I enjoyed wandering the property and vineyards and taking in the scenery and views.

    Bryan2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, unique property! Gorgeous views in every direction and glorious, glorious quiet. The house itself was perfect for two families, very spacious, comfortable beds, all the amenities needed. Communication was very easy and lots to do in the area between wineries and small towns to explore. Absolute gem.

    Lisa2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very spacious house in the middle of a lovely vineyard.. The area is stunning with the vineyards everywhere. The dog had a great time too running around.

  • This was a real treat! Nice, spacious home right there on a vineyard. It was magical. And the winery was so cute. Home was close to so many wineries. We had a blast. Will be back.

    Kourtney2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • I can't think of anything better then waking up, grabbing coffee and walking through a vineyard in the morning. Then after a relaxing morning, heading next door (really 100 feet away) to the tasting room and lovely conversation with your host. Lovely, lovely place. We stayed two nights. I wish it were three!!! Thank you so much!

I am just over the hill from the small village of Fiddletown, which has many historic buildings; much beautiful countryside surrounds us, and many excellent wineries 4-6 miles away.
  • A pleasant environment that allows you to enjoy all of nature’s wonders. Alice is a wonderful host who makes you feel very welcome. Definitely look forward to coming back to stay.

    Nels2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a night on the platform under the oak tree during the Big Crush there in Amador. Alice was there to greet us and show us around when we arrived. What a beautiful property! The breakfast in the morning was amazing. I was a little concerned to see how the shared bathroom would work out as there were two other guest there - but it all worked out fine. Highly recommend a stay with Alice!!!

    Rebecca2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot imagine a more delightful stay. The beauty and charm of Alice's property made me feel I was in a fairy tale; morning coffee in the garden, wholesome breakfast, flowers and greenery everywhere. It really was a treat. I'd come back if ever in the area.

    Mark2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • It was very nice staying at Alice her place. It peaceful and beautiful. Her dinner and breakfast are made with love and you can taste that! We had some lovely conversations as well. Would recommended if you look for a nice spot to stay over and have some quiet time and nature.

    Robert2019-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay for a tent. Enough privacy and great atmosphere for that simple getaway. And the breakfast was awesome.

    Michael2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • We were biking past Alice's place and there are no other campgrounds in the area. Staying on the platform gives you access to a bathroom/shower and a delicious breakfast. Alice was accommodating when our plans changed due to biking tiredness. A beautiful spot.

    Kristin2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Alice's place is great. It was so fun to stay on her platform instead of a crowded campground and her homemade breakfast was amazing! It's not every day you get fresh scones baked in front of you! Alice was very accommodating of our schedule and indulged us in our questions about Fiddletown history. Very cool experience!

  • Great place beautifully located in the hills of vinyards

    Kyle2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very cute, clean and had great views right next to the winery. We arrived after dark and someone was waiting to guide us in which was very nice! The quiche and wine were really nice perks!!! By the time all fees and taxes were included our price was $571.49 for 2 nights. I would suggest the following additions to the room: blow dryer; kleenex; wifi; Nespresso machine and fresh milk.

Cozy farm stay offering FULL(AMERICAN) ORGANIC BREAKFAST: Fresh seasonal fruit, homemade bread and jams, egg dish, coffee or tea. Room has queen bed in alcove and single bed. One of 2 upstairs guest rooms. Only natural, hypoallergenic cleaners used. Ten acre farm produces apples and other fruits, walnuts, vegetables, eggs, herbs. Ten minutes from Plymouth wineries, 1 hour from skiing. Outside seating areas and paths to enjoy the outdoors. Very quiet and comfortable year-round.
Just outside the gold rush village of Fiddletown, Casa de la Pradera offers stays on a small organic farm that produces vegetables, fruits, walnuts and eggs. Comfortable guest room upstairs with plenty of privacy. Nearby wineries, charming towns, good restaurants. This is a European-style farm stay, offering simple, very comfortable lodging with a full breakfast made with organic locally sourced eggs and produce and homemade bread. I use only nontoxic, natural cleaning products such as baking soda and lavender oil. Private room, shared bath, downstairs kitchen/living room, 10 acres of garden, meadow and woods. Daffodils and flowering quince now blooming. I enjoy getting to know my guests in particular over breakfast, and I am delighted to show my small farming operation to those who are interested, either informally or through workshops on growing crops, bread making, jam making, or cheese making. I am right over the ridge (less than 1/4 mile) from the tiny village of Fiddletown, where I grew up and which still has many historic buildings and a museum, the Chew Kee Store. There are a number of public events, among them the Fiddlers Jam the third Saturday in September. Look up other events on the Amador County web site. No Public transportation. Bicycle travel challenging, though bike groups do travel the rural roads. I do have a fairly large dog, Sally, who really likes people and is well behaved. If you have small children with you or you are dog-phobic, I will ensure minimal contact. She is never allowed in the upstairs where the guest rooms are. Most guests love her!
  • Alice has a very warm, cozy and charming home. The breakfast was outstanding which included great coffee, home made English muffins with 3 types of home made jam, local fruit, greet yogurt and a yummy frittata. All of this served up with good conversation and warm hospitality. What more could one ask for?

  • Great breakfast and super clean

    zhiqiang2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Alice’s farmhouse is warm, artistically styled, welcoming and super clean. She makes a beautiful seasonal breakfast, and for me, made accommodations to warm up my vegan dish I’d brought along. And she served us homemade stewed quince the day after Thanksgiving!! Yum!

  • Rustic, basic, peaceful

    Susan Leslie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our 2 nights at Alice's bed and breakfast. Her farm and home are lovely, with comfortable cozy rooms, lots of books to flip through during your stay, and a wonderful fresh breakfast every morning. The location is pleasantly remote, but 15-20 minutes from several cute towns and great vineyards. We really enjoyed getting to know Alice, and thank her for the hospitality and very pleasant weekend.

    Kate2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Alice's little farmhouse in the woods was wonderful. Clean, warm and dry. (Important to us as we were riding motorcycles in the rain.) And she made us the most wonderful breakfast in the morning. It was a few miles from Plymouth, off the beaten path, but to us this was a plus--a wonderful ride through an oak forest to get there, and as quiet as could be. We plan on staying there again, which is really the only review one needs, isn't it?

    Terence2019-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • Alice was great and her place was perfect for us! Great farmhouse feel and even better homemade breakfast! We also loved her dog... she has the prettiest eyes I've ever seen on a dog!

Our charming cottage is a unique get-away experience! We are located in the Sierra foothills wine country on a 75-acre ranch. Go wine tasting, explore the gold country, or just relax among the birds and trees.
Our cottage has everything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable: 2 bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed, a fully equipped kitchen, AC, laundry facilities, ceiling fans, DVD player, outdoor gas grill, and outdoor dining space. The house is located on our 75-acre working ranch where you are welcome to experience ranch life as much or as little as you please. We have 20+ ewes & lambs, a family of goats, many chickens, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 ducks that live full time on the pond. We also have a small vineyard and groomed walking paths throughout the whole ranch. The setting is gorgeous, with lots of heritage oaks and rolling hills.
Our cottage is located in a perfect location to experience everything Amador county has to offer. Wine tasting at the fine wineries of Shenandoah Valley or El Dorado country is just a short drive away. In addition to the wineries, this area has lots of historical sites and charming little towns to explore. Just to mention a few options, you can visit Indian Grinding Rock State Historical Park, explore the caves at Black Chasm Cavern, or browse the art galleries and antique shops in Sutter Creek and Amador City. Amador also has really excellent places to eat: try breakfast at nearby Element in Sutter Creek, lunch at Andrae's Bakery in Amador City (best bakery in Northern CA!), and dinner at the highly acclaimed restaurant Taste in Plymouth.
  • Enjoy a peaceful retreat in the foothills. Sip coffee in the morning while watching farm animals graze. Spend the day relaxing in a beautiful setting or explore the many wineries in the area. BBQ and enjoy your wi e finds in the evening. No noise. No city lights to dim the stars. This great little house in the quiet on the hills provides a true holiday retreat.

  • Everything was what we expected and more. Fresh eggs and wine when we checked in, and walked around the 80 acres of land was great as well. Would definitely stay there again

  • We loved staying at this cottage. It was a beautiful location and the hospitality was excellent.

    Joel2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Guest Cottage at the Dark Horse Ranch is a perfect oasis. The garden and plantings around the house were botanical garden worthy. We brought our two little dogs along and were grateful for the fenced off area around the guest house. Our Rat Terrier enjoyed touching noses with the little pigs on the other side of the fence. And we got to see a baby goat just a few hours old. The house is well appointed, clean and with comfortable space for lounging. We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the evening with a glass of wine. I don't think I've ever seen a ranch so clean and orderly. We're already thinking of when we might return with friends for a longer stay.

    Dennis2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was far and away one of the best stays we've ever had! Not only was the cottage clean, pretty, and stocked with everything we needed - the location is beyond beautiful. The view of the stars alone is worth the trip! But my children also loved touring the ranch, seeing the animals, and all of the local stories and tips shared by our hosts. If you're considering a stay here - do not hesitate!

    Sarah2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Sherry's property was a wonderful, peaceful weekend getaway for my partner and I and our two dogs. We all enjoyed their interactions with the pigs staying in the pen next to us and all the land and animals around. Sherry was a wonderful host and she and her husband were very accommodating.

This is our 2nd time here and will be back I’m sure. Definitely a great place to get away from it all. Til next time ..

  • What a wonderful experience and stay at Alice’s farmhouse. We were greeted by Sally her friendly beautiful dog. It was completely stress free and enjoyed the fresh clean air. The bed was so comfy and loved the lavender sachets made from fresh lavender from her farm. Even the mushrooms were harvested from the property for the yummy frittata. French press coffee freshly ground in her very cool hand grinder. So much to see and do in the area. Fiddletown is a quaint historical town. We enjoyed some wonderful wine in Sutter Creek and Plymouth, made lots of new friends and will definitely be returning to the area and would absolutely stay again with Alice and Sally on her farm. Doesn’t get much better than this if your looking to get away and relax!

  • We had a great time at Alice's place! It was peaceful and quiet - the perfect place to unwind and relax. Breakfast was fresh and amazing.

    James2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying with Alice. Breakfast was amazing, and Sal, her dog, is such a doll. It was nice sleeping with the window door open, and being able to enjoy the fresh cool breeze. Then, waking up to birds chirping, and wind chimes. We look forward to visiting Alice again, one of these days.

    Tami2018-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Alice's place is charming, peaceful, quiet and beautiful, with Clean air. Alice and her dog create an unpretentious refuge from urban life.

    Barbara2018-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We only had the opportunity to spend one night at Alice's but it was charming; she is a delightful host with lots of knowledge about the area. It was close to all the wineries we wanted to visit and extremely peaceful and quiet. It felt like a European home stay.

    Susan2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Alice’s place is a rustic gem. We came to the area for a wine tasting weekend, and wanted a nice quiet “home base.” This was all that, plus a tasty and hearty breakfast. Alice was a thoughtful and accommodating host, and shared interesting information about the area. We would stay with Alice again when in the area!

  • Great stay. It really is out in the middle of nowhere, but it was nice to be away from society. Everything was very clean and we had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms were complete with towels, soap, etc. We couldn’t figure out how to plug the bath tub so that it could fill with water, so we didn’t get to use the inviting bathtub. There is a cat, but it stayed to itself pretty much. (Although my grandma couldn’t help herself but to feed it because she didn’t want it to go hungry.) Myself and my grandpa had to be careful since we are highly allergic to cats, but we figured a cat is necessary to eat rodents around the house (there were no rodents in the house. I’m just sure they roam around the premises in this environment) We were a little nervous because of a previous review talking about irritated neighbors. We had no issues - actually we never even saw the neighbors. The road that the house is on is kind of confusing because someone posted a sign that says “WRONG WAY. YOUR GPS IS WRONG. TURN AROUND.” We stupidly listened to the sign and turned around. Looked for the house for an extra 30 minutes until finally going back to that road and finding the house. Just follow the instructions provided and you will be fine. We shouldn’t have listened to that sign. These things are all minor. All in all, it really was a wonderful 4 day weekend for my family. ❤️

  • Looking for a place hidden away from it all? This home is it. Quite hidden and back from all major roads, and easy river access. Great summer spot!

    Jave2019-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • perfect place for a getaway. nice Location secluded at the end of the street with the river on the other side of the road. great place.

    Robert2019-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Property is beautiful and the outdoors has lots of little touches that make it delightful. The cabin is comfortable and tranquil. Plenty of fluffy towels for everyone and fleece sheets to keep you warm at night. The patio as lots of comfortable seating to relax the day away. House was a little hard to find as my GPS took me to the top of the private road where the cabin is located and there is a sign posted on the street saying your gps is wrong and there is no turn around but it is the correct street. Cell service very spotty at the cabin and the entire area.

    Shannon2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was amazing. Very peaceful, clean, comfy, and pleasant place. I highly recommend it.

    Sa2018-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great! A bit hard to find and Google Maps got it wrong, but once you do find it, you will be happy. There are deer and cats hanging outside, and the river flowing across the road. Our dog loved being able to join us as well!

    Gabe2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is the perfect retreat! The cottage is quite and with in a short walk to the river, the cottage is surrounded by beautiful green woods and a small creek. The wood burning stove is cozy and the jacuzzi tub is perfect with a gorgeous window overlooking the beautiful woods. The host were kind enough to leave a nice bottle of wine for us to enjoy! The cottage is pet friendly and was super clean. The only thing we would like to say is that if you do bring your dogs with you beware that the cottage has 3 outdoor cats that live underneath the house in the garage and require feeding from the guest. If your dogs don’t like cats you might want to reconsider. That being said, we would love to go back in the summer so that we can enjoy taking a dip in the wonderful river; we had an amazing time!💕

A beautiful and very spacious cabin (1500 sq. ft) in middle of our 10 acre vineyard (26 acre property). Be it a relaxed weekend getaway or touring of the Vineyards and Wineries in the area, this is a great place to stay. We are located right next to the Perry Creek Winery.
The home features spacious and open living room, kitchen with many amenities to cook a nice meal, bedrooms with comfortable beds, spacious baths and more. Television with cable and blu-ray player available in the living room. Wifi with high-speed internet access available throughout the house. The master bedroom with king bed has an attached bath and the second bath is shared by the other two bedrooms. This is a gated property with automated gate with key pad access. You will receive code to the main gate before your stay. Guests will have access to the entire cabin and the backyard area with the build-in barbeque grill. The access road to the cabin is the common entrance to our vineyard. During the growing season, there can be crew working in the vineyard. We will let you know in advance if this happens during your stay. Occasionally AT&T maintenance crew may visit the cell tower site located inside the vineyard for maintenance activities. While this is not common, if it happens during your stay we will let you know in advance. While the access road to Cabin is not a completely private entrance, rest in peace knowing that only permitted crews have access to the main gate codes.
There are plenty of excellent wineries in the Fair Play area, some of them even in walking distance. A quick search in google maps can show you all nearby wineries and we are just 20 min away from the Shenandoah valley wineries.
  • Clean, easy checkin/checkout, great location for wineries. Sree was super helpful and easy to communicate with.

  • This is a beautiful cabin and serene vineyard setting. Great for families and young kids. We found everything we needed to cook dinner in the kitchen. In the morning we had breakfast on the front porch, overlooking the vineyards. Would definitely come back.

    Darlene2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is surrounded by a vineyard; it is a beautiful, well designed, and super clean place. There are a lot of wineries in the area to enjoy picnics plus wine tasting. Communications with Sree were effective and he always replied fast. We will definitely come back.

  • Great location.

    Vince2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely property with lots of privacy! The house was well appointed and super clean. There is a BBQ in the back yard area but the small table and chairs are on the front porch likely to be able to view the vineyards.

  • Quiet hideaway in the wine country. Our family (all adults) enjoyed this log cabin/house in the vineyard after a day of wine tasting. Clean and spacious, very comfortable, a great place to relax and chill. Kitchen is large, with a really cool stove, although we used the outdoor grill for cooking. House has open plan so very inviting. Bedrooms have ceiling fans, clean linens and comfy beds. Our Grandparents enjoyed the Master Suite with King bed and private bathroom and raved about their wonderful nights sleep. Sree communicated well with good instructions and contacted us promptly if we had questions. Highly recommend. Thank you Sree!

  • We visited with 11 people and 4 dogs and had a blast at Michael's place! The place was clean and well equipped. We were able to cook many meals in the kitchen and all the cutlery and utensils were well stocked to serve a large group. There were even dog beds which were able to pull out and have the dogs sunbathe on the patio. The best part was the huge yard where our dogs could play and chase each other and get their exercise and that was a lot of fun. The only complaint I would say is that the first floor was a little chilly on day one as the it took a long time to heat the house. We had also arrived only at 11:00 p.m. so that didn't help. Otherwise a phenomenal place to entertain a large group. Also really well lit with natural light. Highly recommended and we hope to be back again

  • This is a beautiful house with spectacular views. This was our second time staying here, and we're already looking forward to going back

    Caitlin2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful time visiting the fairplay wineries!

    Katie2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • This house is amazing! Plenty of room both inside and outside for a large group to spread out. We enjoyed playing the house games (corn hole, ladder toss and bocce), and loved stargazing from the very spacious hot tub. Everything was spectacular and we valued the close proximity to wineries (walking distance), wide variety of kitchen gear and strong A/C. We will definitely be back!

    Nicole2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The home was comfortable and perfect for our quiet family retreat. Unfortunately it was too hot for us to spend much of our time outside, but we did enjoy the grill & outdoor seating. And looking at the stars while hanging out in the jacuzzi was A+ (just be aware it takes a looooong time to heat up, so plan ahead). I also understand they plan to fix up the outdoor area in the future. We appreciated the baby gates outside on the deck for our toddlers (maybe add one for the indoor stairs?) The kitchen was reasonably well stocked with pots, pans, serving dishes and such for cooking. The A/C was crucial and greatly appreciated! The master bedroom was like an entire apartment, kudos to whoever gets to stay in it. We would definitely stay here again.

    Jessica2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Right in the heart of wine country, this is the perfect base for a large group! So much space, everyone can still find privacy. The boccee, fire pit, and the biggest hot tub we have ever seen extend the space outside enjoying the sunsets and dark star filled sky after the day cooled off. Would definitely stay again!

    Brian2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house is well-stocked (with towels, dishes, etc), the views are great, and the hosts are incredibly responsive. I would definitely reserve this place again if I was staying in the area.

  • Really awesome property. lots of cool spaces to explore both inside and outside. heaps of games and activities to keep the whole group occupied. we all loved the outdoor games room and all the board games inside by the fire once the sun and temperature went down. good location if you want to go wine tasting as well. will almost certainly be back in the summer. would absolutely recommend for a group. Shelley was also very responsive and quick to help.

    Alex2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at the property! We spent our days exploring the grounds and the surrounding area. The 4 nights were spent in front of the fire and in the warmth of the house. We will return in the spring to enjoy the flower gardens and the nearby wineries. Thanks for making our time so memorable!

    Laura2018-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay! It felt like a charming summer camp. Loved the screened in porch, the acres of privacy, the fall colors, and all the wineries nearby.

    Abby2018-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • The place was amazing! The kitchen was clean and stocked. There were lots of areas of to explore and to relax. The table tennis area was lots of fun and the place was located close to the Black Chasm Cavern and Consumnes river, which were all great outdoor places.

    Joan2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • The property is beautiful as is the cabins. It's hard calling the amazing living quarters as cabins as you can see everything you need is there. It's obvious Shelley put a lot of time into the renovations. If your looking for a serene getaway and need to relax and enjoy a family bonding getaway this is it. I think fall, spring and winter would be ideal so that you can enjoy the fireplaces and outdoors. Check-in and directions were a breeze close to,many wineries and Sly recreational park and lake. The host provided a great list of suggestions. I do recommend this property!

This secluded gated 120-acre ranch is the perfect retreat for a relaxing get-away located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley surrounded by the Rombauer, Andis and C.G. Di Arie vineyards. From here, you can visit the local vineyards or just admire the views from the terrace. The house has an updated kitchen, two bedrooms (one king, two twin beds), two bathrooms, and a great room/living room area with a woodburning fireplace. Unfotunately, we cannot accomodate large gatherings.
Our property offers trails to explore as well as a private beach on the South Fork of the Consumnes River. Ideal swimming times are June-July. Due to the recent rains, our driveway requires four-wheel drive as some of it has been washed away and/or will be slippery if the rain continues.
Exploring the Shenandoah Valley: Wonderful wineries are just a five-10 minute drive from our property. Many have music over the weekend, so it’s worth checking out the Amador Vintner’s Association calendar if you are interested in that. There is also a detailed map of on this link: https://amadorwine.com Here are a few other links/recommendations to local wineries: http://www.mercurynews.com/2014/09/04/wine-road-five-must-try-shenandoah-valley-wineries/ I would also recommend a visit to Dillian Vineyards and Wildrotter if you like white wine. There is a relatively new vineyard that is on Upton Road called Bella Grace that has a fantastic wine cave and olive oil tasting. It is about a 1.5 hour walk from the house.
  • We had a great stay for the Big Crush weekend in Amador County. The house is definitely off the beaten path a bit, but was the perfect spot for a couple's getaway in wine country. From Rombauer winery, it was a 10-15 min drive on 1 lane road that turns to dirt for the last 5 min, so plan ahead and bring what you need from town. After a full day of wine tasting we made our way back to the house and had a wonderful dinner on the patio with awesome views of the valley. Thanks for the stay!

    Mike2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The only time we sleep anywhere this off the grid is when we backpack and sleep in our tent! What a treat to be somewhere so remote and yet be able to enjoy the amenities of the house. The house is a beautiful custom build with high ceilings and BIG windows all around to make the most of the view. We’d planned to spend most of our time on the veranda enjoying the spectacular views but due to some unseasonable wet and cold weather we did also make use of the lounge which was extremely comfortable and the wood burning stove made it very cozy. Hiking trails on the land were hard to find/follow but we put that down to it being early summer and the grass is still green and high making trails hard to locate. We did make it down to the river which was raging with all of the rain we have had. We would definitely like to come back and enjoy the property in mid-summer so that we can sit out until late on the veranda and enjoy the river. We knew it would be 1 hour roundtrip from the house if we needed to go to a supermarket or vineyards so planned our menu accordingly and took everything we needed for the weekend. We’re glad we did because once there, we didn’t want to leave. I was sad to close the door and drive away at the end of my stay - I haven’t felt this relaxed in a while! Kristen was a great host. Given that she lives in Europe she was quick to respond to my messages when booking and extremely helpful.

  • Kirsten is a great host. She goes out of her way to make it work for you. The property is a little remote but once you get there you will enjoy the space. The house is really nice and new and surrounded by wineries. Our dogs had lots of room to run and play outside. Would love to stay again sometime and have more time to go wine tasting.

  • This property is absolutely gorgeous. The location is hard to beat. There are tons of wineries a few minutes away yet the property is secluded and truly makes you just relax and enjoy. The house is spectacular, spacious and has a breathtaking patio and view of the vineyards. Kirsten is a wonderful host. We had an incredible weekend getaway here and highly recommend it!

    Jessica2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • The location and house was absolutely perfect. Close enough to all the wineries, yet remote enough on the large property to peacefully unwind each night. We’ll definitely be back. The owner and host were both terrific.

  • Our stay was phenomenal. Definitely a family friendly house. Safe and secluded. Mostly everything was provided for our stay, really just bring your food to cook. Thank you for everything John. I Highly recommend this house and hopefully we can stay again!

  • I've stayed at a few Airbnb's around different parts of the U.S and Canada and none have compared to the experience we had at the Log home in Fiddletown. The hosts are top notch when it comes to communication and maintaining their property. We actually rented the Log home for a surprise engagement and they made sure to give a helping hand however way they could. We left already wanting to go back. If you need a place to escape from your day to day lifestyle meanwhile having hosts that actually care if you are enjoying your stay, this is the place to go! The pictures on the profile already look beautiful but being there in person exceeded our expectations and will be an proposal to remember for the rest of our lives!
