Places to stay in Montville
Our secluded, very quiet and private two bedroom cabin, plus loft, overlooks Sandy Pond, inhabited by bald eagles, loons, and herons. Watch beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and swim, fish and kayak from our dock. We're close to coastal Belfast, Unity, MOFGA (annual Common Ground Fair), Waterville, Acadia and Camden. Eat at The Lost Kitchen, visit the Amish, hike the Hills to Sea Trail.
Our cabin sits on a small peninsula jutting out into Sandy pond. We are conveniently located between Waterville in Central Maine and Belfast on the coast, each a short half hour away. We are on the same pond as Freedom's gourmet restaurant, "The Lost Kitchen," located in the restored Freedom Mill. Close by is the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) in Unity, Unity College, and the Unity Center for the Performing Arts. The cabin is a perfect base for visiting the Common Ground Fair, Windsor Fair, the Amish country store and charcuterie. You can get to Liberty Graphics and the classic Liberty Tools in about twenty minutes. Best of all, the secluded lake is just steps away and usually you will find only birds once you are on the water. Bald Eagles nest a few hundred yards from the cabin and are seen almost daily. Loons, kingfishers, red-winged blackbirds, and fly catchers are common. During the fall Canadian geese visit as do a number of ducks and herons. The pond is stocked for fishing and the swimming in summer is wonderful. It is conveniently located for day trips to the coast, including north to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, and south to Camden, Rockport, Rockland, and Boothbay Harbor. The cabin is available only May through October.
Freedom in the summer and fall is magical. When you're on the lake it feels like wilderness. We are often the only people on the lake in the late afternoon. Watching the leaves turn in the fall is awe inspiring. While Freedom is a small town with only one general store and gas station, Unity has just about everything you might need from groceries to hardware, to restaurants and bars, as well as a free library at the College.
  • Nice cabin in the woods with great access to water. Views are spectacular. Hosts were attentive to all our needs.

  • We had the best time at this cabin. It has amazing views of the water and the lake is so peaceful. They had kayaks which made the experience more fun. The cabin has everything you could need and the pictures really do not do the cabin or it’s surroundings justice!

    Tommy2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice, comfortable clean cabin in the woods, on a lake. Very quiet location. Helpful hosts. We would stay there again if we ever get back to the area.

  • Amazing cabin experience with a pond unlike any other. Spectacular view of foliage. Will return for sure...

    Leslie2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy cabin is great. In the woods, on a quiet pond, kayaks, loons, bright stars, place is clean as a whistle, wood stove, wifi works, Will try and go again sometime.

  • This cabin is fantastic! Quiet, peaceful and cozy. We wish we had more time to spend here. Definitely adding it to our “must return” list!

    Nicole2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin in the woods. Rustic, charming, and overall great! There was very tasty well water & thoughtful notes throughout. The kayaks & the lake were amazing, and the stars were incredible, too. The binder with local tips, maps, etc was very thorough. I’d love to come back for longer. They set up a cot in the loft for one of my kids & put some collectibles up high out of reach of the kids. Even though we didn’t use it, the wood stove was prepped to light if we needed it. The cabin decor was so interesting & the magazines were nice, too. Full kitchen & Great dining table to share a meal with the family. The master bedroom windows have the best view as the sun rises, but there are blinds to block out the light too. We heard an owl in the evening & saw many loons on the water. Lovely stay!

    Kristin2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Dana’s place! It’s a well kept older cabin in a gorgeous location. We only wish we had stayed more than one night! Very peaceful and relaxing.

Welcome to a cozy, private, off-grid cabin on our small organic farm and homestead. Nestled on the edge of the forest, with sunny views of our orchard and fields. Farm-fresh vegetables, fruit and meat available seasonally for cooking in a fully stocked kitchen. We are just up the road from Lake St. George State Park, and a short drive from diverse recreational and dining opportunities. We are 20 minutes from Belfast, a small, bustling coastal town. 35 minutes to Camden. All are welcome!
This cabin is truly special. When we moved here, it was a rustic, dark log cabin and it was the only structure on the farm. Last year we decided to renovate it and now it is a beautiful, bright and welcoming space. The cabin has a double bed in a little bedroom nook, a futon that folds out into a queen sized bed, a kitchen table, a desk space and a fully equipped kitchen with a 4 burner stove and an oven. Whereas this space is in excellent condition, please note that it is currently completely off-grid. This means that there is no electricity, running water or wi-fi in the cabin. During the day it is lit by the sun , at dark it is lit by battery-powered and oil lanterns. The bathroom is a clean outhouse 10 feet from the cabin and the shower is an outdoor solar shower on the side of the cabin. There is both a propane heater for your convenience, as well as a wood-burning stove. Upon your arrival there will be 3 gallon water jugs filled with fresh well-water. There is also a water pump 25 feet from the house where you can always refill! This is an opportunity to stay in a comfortable, finished cabin while also taking a moment to unplug from the daily grind.
Montville is a secret gem of a town. Whereas it feels off-the-beaten-path it is also centrally located and within reach of many bustling towns and recreational areas. We live 5 miles from Lake St. George State Park, where there is swimming, boating, a nice playground and grilling sites. We are minutes from several Midcoast Conservancy Hiking Trails. Our farm is located on secluded part of a beautiful country road and if you continue walking or biking down our road, you will come to old, maintained fields mixed with forest and eventually a little bridge passing over the Sheepscot River. Within a 5- 40 minute drive you can access dozens of other hiking trails, biking trails, boating opportunities, several state parks, restaurants, local breweries, independent movie theaters, shops etc. Liberty village is 8 minutes away with the famous Liberty Tool Co., Belfast is 20 minutes with the Belfast Food Co-Op and many restaraunts, Camden Hills area is 35 minutes, Waterville is 35 minutes, Unity and the Commonground Fairgrounds is 20 minutes and Acadia National Park 1.5 hours.
  • Cozy spot for a winter mid coast getaway. Easy access to all things nature and all things small town Maine. Really enjoyed having the quiet and solitude this cabin offered. Maia and Jacob were responsive hosts! Want to come back in summer to see their farm in the growing season.

  • A perfect getaway from the city. Quiet, beautiful and simple. A great place to unwind and relax. The cabin is well setup and clean. A definite highlight to our trip.

    Trevor2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was perfect for our short fall trip in Maine! Maia and Jacob manage to offer an off the grid experience that is unique, simple and comfortable, complete with romantic oil lamp lighting, a great collection of books and games, and beautiful views around the property. Be aware that cell service might be spotty in the area. If you think you may need more light, you could always bring your own headlamp. Though we didnt get to meet our hosts Maia was super communicative and provided great instructions for getting there and recommendations nearby as well. Highly recommend!

    Sara2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had the absolute best time at this quaint little off-grid cabin. We cannot wait to return, hopefully for longer next time :)

    Eugenia2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in the little cabin. It was clean, private, cozy + simple. Sitting on the screened porch in the evening and morning was the best part. Super sweet place! Would stay again!

    Courtney Jean2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was spectacular. I loved feeling away from everything else and working hard to be resourceful. It's very nice and cozy and the oil lanterns really do give off a romantic vibe.

A peaceful spot to slow down: quiet and beautiful. Our location is private and entwined in the natural world. The long view and the lovingly and ecologically designed house combine to create a memorable setting for a restorative and creative vacation.
Big south facing windows frame beautiful views of the Camden Hills and Lake Quantabacook in our comfortable and peaceful mountaintop camp. Abutting the Frye Mountain Game Preserve with easy access to the Sheepscot Watershed Land Alliance's network of trails, and the Hills to Sea Trail system, our camp manages to feel very far away from everything even though Belfast (a cool, small, not-too-touristy city--home of our restaurant, bakery, and market, Chase's Daily) is only twelve miles away. The camp is off-grid and solar-powered. Equipped with a propane fridge, on-demand hot water, wood stove, and a (new!) Rinnai heater, the house has all the basic comforts of contemporary life. Perks unique to the site include a compost heap out back, herbs to pick from the terraced gardens, a fire pit and plenty of dry wood, fog lingering in the valley come dawn, stars aplenty in the true dark at night, an outdoor kitchen, moss and lichen gleaming in the rain, a screened porch, wildflowers brassy in the hot sun, and storm clouds whipping across the valley. We provide a well-equipped kitchen suitable for cooks. We provide cotton or linen sheets, soft pillows, and comfortable beds (to us!)—one queen sized and one double. No phone line, tv, or internet access. Decent cell phone service for some carriers, nil for others. Good pets are welcome! The camp is available to rent year round. We installed a new Rinnai propane heater on the main floor during the fall of 2016 to make winter rentals easier and more comfortable for our guests. During the winter and spring we welcome guests for shorter stays though our minimum is likely 3 nights. 4wd or Awd is necessary during the winter and periods of the spring.
Our camp is in the woods, with no neighbors in sight, a mile and a half up a dirt road. The view is expansive and the trails in the Frye Mountain Preserve are quiet and feel very far away from the intensity of urban life. Belfast is our town. It takes about 18 minutes to get to Camp from Belfast. We own and run the restaurant Chase's Daily, with our family, on Main Street in Belfast. We hope you will join us for a meal or stop in to buy produce, flowers, or baked goods. Hours and more info can be found on our website (URL HIDDEN) Belfast has everything you are likely to need--pharmacy, shops, restaurants, supermarket, waterfront parks, ice cream, etc. There are many good swimming spots--ocean and lake--within a half hour drive from Camp. Ellis Pond is our favorite. We also really like jumping off the dock at Bayside in Northport. Or, Lake St. George in Liberty with a stop at John's Ice Cream is a real treat.
  • This house is very comfortable. We visited after a snow storm and it was beautiful. Meg and Freddy supplied lots of cut wood. The stove keeps the living area very toasty. The windows in the house allow so much natural light in that we never needed to put on lights during the day. You have beautiful views from the house. We walked down the driveway and took a left onto the street and further up the road, the road is closed for the winter so it is a quiet hike through the woods (gorgeous after a snowstorm!). We hope to visit again.

  • I’ve visited Frye Mountain twice: in July and November. It’s beautiful in both seasons. The space is lovingly built, airy and cozy. The view spectacular. The kitchen a pleasure to use. Five stars!

  • Very interesting cabin with lots of style and incredible views. Private setting with lots of opportunity for exploring the woods and the views.

    Corey2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Fourth stay at this cabin so I can't really recommend it highly enough. Would definitely recommend this beautiful spot to anyone traveling up this way!

    Adam2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Meg’s house is a marvel. Lovely inside and out. So many places to sit and appreciate a view. Relaxing and simple, but yet still have just what you need. All was clearly explained and easy to navigate. Beds were very comfortable, and so nice to sleep in the quiet Maine night.

    Jessica2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • This home was everything we hoped for. A peaceful retreat that brought our family closer together. If we ever visit Maine again this would be our first choice for a quiet, relaxing holiday home that is only a short drive from the scenic coastal towns.

    Samantha2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • The camp is a perfect spot to recharge. There’s plenty of space for a few people, lots of supplies to make use of the kitchen, and gorgeous unobstructed views of the valleys below. We loved staying here with our 2 yr. old and would recommend this to anyone who needs to unplug a little bit and visit Maine’s central cost.

    Damon2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed for 6 days with our dog and had a wonderful time. I have to say, as beautiful as the place looked online, it was bigger and more beautiful in person. The house is amazing an inspired us to pursue a camp of our own in the future. So many great spots to sit and read—a sunny deck with a remarkable view, a shaded screened-in porch, a loft with a comfortable couch. It was a truly relaxing vacation in a wonderfully quiet location. And while the house is off the grid, you do have access to all of the modern amenities you need to feel comfortable—electricity, fridge, stove, shower, regular toilet, water, et cetera. We got lots of good information from Meg and Freddy. Self check-in and out was easy. Great hosts.

This is a tiny retreat for one or two guests. There is a fireplace facing the twin day bed. There is a screened in kitchenette. No shower facilities...but ask about availability of other cabins to possibly schedule time for use. This cabin is also a perfect add-on to those who need a little more space for additional guests when renting cabin 1 or 3! Winter rental details: We reduce our rates for the for the winter months because it's a great stay, for those who like winter camping in comfort!
This is a "still in the process" tiny cabin that really feels like a retreat from the world. There is no indoor shower but if you are a hardy soul who enjoys off the grid living... with a little luxury...a bird bath does the job. The "bathroom" is a very clean, cedar outhouse next to the cabin with a stained glass window. This is an experience that is perfect for some...and not for others. Read description thoroughly and ask questions if needed. Adventure and seclusion await! Winter rental details: We reduce our rates for the hide-a-way for the winter months because it's a great stay...but for those who like winter camping in comfort! This cabin heats up beautifully with the fireplace and is so snuggly...but shoveling a little snow and lugging a few armfulls of wood might be part of this woodland experience...oh...but if you are up for it...what an experience!
Jackson is a lovely town right on rt 7 with great access to the Bangor Airport and the beautiful coastal town of Belfast with many treasures to explore from there. Many of our guests are on their way to or from visiting Acadia which is about 1 hour 30 min away. Locally the Jackson/Brooks area has beautiful farms and events associated with those locations. It's not far from the famed Lost Kitchen...book well in advance! A golf course...The Hills to Sea trail...and great local food are all close by with seasonal events happening throughout the year.
  • Perfect cabin for a weekend getaway! Such a cozy and cute place. As soon as we arrived, the cabin was so warm and toasty due to the fire that they had already set up for us! Thank you Jim & Doreen. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Maine! -Darlene & Alex

  • This quaint and quiet little cabin is darling. The outhouse is clean and easy to access. Having the wood stove during the chilly night was charming and cozy. I’d come back again.

  • Such a beautiful little cabin with everything you need. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a cozy get away!

  • Great little place to stay!

    Amy2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely little cabin, perfect for one or two people. I needed a place to stay for one night while at the Common Ground Fair. The cabin was an easy 20-minute drive from the fairgrounds on country roads. It sits among a cluster of 3 or 4 cabins that share a driveway,so even though I was traveling alone I felt safe with other guests next door. It had been renovated recently so all of the wood inside was brand new ; the twin beds very comfortable; and the cabin was nicely decorated inside too. I didn’t have time to use the wood stove but I imagine that would be nice on a cool evening . There was an electric heater that warmed the cabin quickly. The kitchenette is on a screened porch. So sweet! And if all of that wasn’t enough to delight, the outside (heated) shower had just been installed and I was able to enjoy a warm shower outside in the morning. Such a wonderful experience! Next time, I will stay longer and use it as a jumping off pad to explore the Midcoast. Belfast is an easy 20-minute drive. Really enjoyed my all-too-short stay!

  • Tara's cabin is a great place to stay. We had no issues with anything and the place was very clean. Our group was only there one night and it worked out very well for us. We will definitely plan to stay again next year.

    Christine2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Tara’s. It was comfortable and we enjoyed the patio and lake. It was beautiful and relaxing. I would stay again. There was a time difference between us and the owner and she responded to me very promptly and was very kind and helpful.

  • My family and I really enjoyed the home. It was beautiful and the lake was so crystal clear! My husband caught a huge bass there. Totally recommend staying here!

    Hillary2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin has a fantastic spot steps from the lake. We were lucky to have fantastic weather and use the kayaks, floats, and stand up paddleboard the entire time. There is also a lovely yard with the fire pit where we made Smore’s. The cabin is definitely a little bit rustic, but has a very nice updated bathroom.

    Liz2019-07-20T00:00:00Z

This beautifully finished tiny house was completed as a labor of love. The wood was cut and milled from the land surrounding it, with charming rustic touches added around the home. The house is a compact & bijou 250sq ft, but comfortably sleeps 2, or a family with a small child.
The upper “bird’s nest” is the perfect place to watch the stars and commune among the fireflies on a Summer night. With ample windows, the outside is brought in to guarantee romantic evenings to remember.
The property is only a stone’s throw from one of America’s most exclusive dining experiences, The Lost Kitchen. The restaurant is housed in a stunningly restored grist mill only a couple of miles away in the nearby town of Freedom. It has been reviewed and revered worldwide, and received 20,000 requests for reservations last year alone. Coastal Belfast is just 15 minutes away to the South, with plenty of restaurant choices and art stores, while Waterville to the North is home to the famous Railroad Square cinema and Big G’s deli, which must not be missed!
  • Tom was super nice and his property was awesome. Great place to view the stars at night. Also right down the road from the the common ground fair! Thanks again Tom!

    Jeffrey2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Tom's hand-built cabin with bathroom facility and outdoor shower adjacent was the perfect upgrade from camping - snug, comfortable, conveniently appointed and homey (hand-painted with glow in dark stars in sleeping loft!) Great for a single and can accommodate a couple, it is a very private setting behind the vegetable garden on his property in a woodsy setting in the hills above the mid-coast towns and the very nice Belfast with it's terrific co-op to anchor, about a 20-25 min drive down the pleasant scenic Rt. 173. Stop at any of the several roadside stores they're all good, open early and late, and Weaver's has a morning bakery as the sun is coming up. Tom and wife are super nice and authentic. Great value, great place, great hosts, and Maine: ME

  • The tiney house was awesome! Very comfortable, just like the ones on TV. It was perfect, rustic but comfortable, I spent my days exploring the coastle cities of Maine and hiking. It was so cool to actually stay someplace that was really doing the sustainable lifestyle! I'm def going back again! Tom was super nice, even refunded me when I had to check out early for work, and didn't mind checking me in in the middle of the night lol, it was great!

This is an adorable rustic but lux little get-a-way in the heart of Jackson, Maine. There are several cabins built on the property creating winter village feel. We've opened this cabin to winter rentals with the caveat that a guest could potentially wake up on a very cold morning with a temporary loss of water at the kitchen sink due to freezing. However, the condition is usually temporary and just effects the kitchen sink and not any of the bathroom fixtures.
This listing is for the front cabin called the Bird's Nest which is now completely renovated! We are always adding to and fluffing it. Please let us know what your needs are and we can give you an idea if this cabin might be a good fit for your escape. Situated on 10 wooded acres to wander on.... and another 100+ acres down the road with a stream, pond and woods roads for hiking!
Jackson is three miles outside of Brooks and has a little cafe that resources from some amazing local farm foods. Ralphs Cafe is seasonal so check hours. Very centrally located to Augusta, Waterville, Belfast and Bangor.
  • An amazing place for quiet reflection and cozy comfort. The wood burning stove kept everything nice and toasty, but even if we had not used it, it was still warm and comfy inside. It did add a great amount of ambiance though! It doesn't have a tv, but we did not miss it even a little (even my teenage son didn't miss it!). Beds are quite comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean upon our arrival. If you have difficulty climbing, stay in the bed downstairs. But the loft upstairs was so nice and worth the climb up the unique staircase. Jim and Doreen's directions were spot on and they gave us a head's up on any inclement weather conditions. It was a wonderful place to stay and we hope to be back again next year!

    Anita2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin tucked in the woods! My husband and I were impressed with the thoughtful details and incredible amount of comfort provided in this cabin. We can’t wait to come back, 10/10!

  • Such an amazing spot! You won't regret staying here, we are already plotting our return. Note that nearby Ralph's is not currently open for dinner so you will need to travel a bit for dinner (it's open for breakfast and lunch though!! It's sooo good)!

  • This cottage was perfect for our stay in Maine. It was very clean and quite cozy. It has a homey feel that you don't get everywhere. There was easy communication with the hosts and questions were answered quickly. We throughly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to stay again.

  • This is such a sweet spot, tucked away in the woods. The hosts were very responsive and sweet...and the amenities were super clean and fresh feeling. Would definitely recommend!

  • Super great place .. the craftsmanship of the renovations was amazing ..

    Kris2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is amazing. It’s gorgeous, clean, smells incredible, and is just the right distance away from town. My husband and I aren’t very outdoorsy, but we loved it. I think people more outdoorsy than we are would absolutely adore it here. The beds were both so comfy, and the pillows are amazing. The wood burning stove is also great! Love, love, love.

    Megan2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • What an excellent cabin!! Cozy, clean and just adorable! Relaxed by the fire pit and snuggled up for a couple nights for a weekend getaway. Not hard to find at all and great local stores for food and goods. Loved Ralph's cafe down the road. We will be back to visit again for sure! Don't pass up a chance to stay here if you can!

It's beside a pond engineered and built by industrious beavers which brings all kinds of wildlife to the area. In the spring, with the snow melt, the pond is full and over-flowing. In the early summer, while the water level is still high and fresh, it's a swimming hole. Later in the summer, the water level drops and the lilies bloom. This is really a beautiful pond ecosystem.
This spot in the Maine woods is close enough to be on the road in seconds, yet far enough away to feel real privacy. The site is on a 130-acre lot of land with plenty of woods roads to wander.
  • This is the perfect get-away from regular life and reminds you why you love the outdoors. Jim and Doreen are perfect hosts and can help guide you along to a great trip!

    Jennie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great overnight camp spot. Really appreciate the wood, including kindling. The outhouse is as clean as other reviewers have noted.

    Robin2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing property, the hosts go above and beyond to provide you with what you need. We were very surprised to have a wood pile, and a grill with propane! Though we prefer to cook over the fire it was still fantastic to have! The outhouse is fabulous. Directions to the campsite were spot on. Truly a hidden gem and SO private! Highly recommend!

  • Very nice property!

    David2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed the seclusion your campsite gave us. At first we thought the pile of wood was a tent with the tarp over it but were very glad for the wood that was there! It was also a beautiful stop before going to acadia national park!

    Desserra2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot, we camped here after being in Portland and then headed to bar harbor upon waking.

    Kayla2019-08-12T00:00:00Z

  • We had a wonderful time!Jim and Doreen went into a lot of trouble to offer our family a night of camping with all the equipment waiting for us. Large roomy tents, comfortable sleeping bags and mats, a mobile outdoor kitchen, plenty of wood for the firepit - made our family a night to remember! Thank you!

A post and beam "camp" on Stevens Pond in Liberty, Maine which is just 20 minutes from Belfast on Penobscot Bay. The camp is spacious and decorated with a mix of contemporary, antique and whimsical. The cabin is suitable for up to a family of four or two couples. A screened porch and deck with adirondack chairs and patio table overlooks the pond. The setting is very tranquil and the pond is a nature pond, with restrictions on motor craft, making it perfect for canoeing or kayaking.
A large cabin with ground floor bedroom and bathroom, living room with fireplace, dining space, eat-in kitchen, fully equipped kitchen, screened porch, deck with BBQ grill. Upstairs loft with multiple sleeping options. The master bedroom on the first floor has a four-poster queen-size bed and antique armoire, and in the loft is a day- bed that can be converted to a king-size bed and a futon converting to a single bed. The kitchen has lots of space with a breakfast bar and is fully equipped to include a dishwasher.
Cabin is on a private road with private access to pond.
  • This is a gem of place. We so enjoyed the peace and serenity of the cabin and Stevens Pond is stunning. The cabin was cozy and clean with so many thoughtful amenities and lovely touches. Can’t wait to be back!

    Ellen2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful and very well equipped. It has everything you need and then some. The screened porch was my favorite space in the house. It was very buggy so make sure you bring bug spray for you and your pups! The only downside for us was that you can’t swim in the pond where the house is located. There is an area a couple of minutes up the road by car though. We liked that the house was located within reasonable distance to Rockland and Camden and Acadia National Park. Definitely check out John’s Ice Cream Factory while you’re there... the ice cream is delicious :) Thanks again!

    Stacy2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome stay at the cabin. It is super comfy with lots of space and privacy. A great place to relax.

    Dana2019-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem. Kayaking on the pond was so breathtaking, especially seeing all the water lilies blooming. The house, screened in porch and dock kept us staying put and not wanting to explore the neighboring towns as much as we have in the past !

    Lisa2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful home--clean, private, comfortable, full of amenities and in a delightful setting, all at an amazing price. The downstairs bedroom opens to a screen porch that overlooks the pond. There's a beautiful stone fireplace, modern kitchen and large bath with washer/dryer. The hosts are immediately responsive, but give the guests complete privacy. We spent hours kayaking the (very large) pond, which is full of nooks and crannies and teaming with wildlife. Coastal attractions are a reasonable car ride away, should you actually want to leave this gorgeous setting. John's Ice Cream in Liberty is, however, a must. If you're looking for a private retreat in Maine, don't pass this up.

    Christine2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • We truly enjoyed our stay in this peaceful cabin. Tucked into the woods on a private lake site - it’s the perfect way to relax. The house is full of amenities to complete your cozy stay. We particularly enjoyed the fireplace and the screened in porch. Chris was an excellent host, very responsive!

    Heather2018-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing Maine camp. In fact, it was so comfortable and well outfitted that we sometimes thought we were in our own home. We didn’t want to leave. Stevens Pond is a peaceful place. It’s shallow enough that there is no motorized boat noise but large enough to spend hours exploring on the kayaks and canoes that are at the camp. A beautiful blue heron hung around near the dock for most of our stay. Little explorers will love this camp. We can’t wait to return.

    Patrick2018-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful post and beam camp! The space was comfortable and clean with a very comfortable bed. I loved the shower! You have a lovely view of Steven's Pond and access to the water on your own dock with kayaks and canoes. My son loved the fishing and if you're looking for swimming a quick paddle to a jumping rock is around the corner. We didn't see one person while there and my pug loved running free. Book this place fast, it's also a great value!

Get away from it all in this charming, off grid cabin in the middle of 1,200 acres of Maine forest. 6 miles of private road will carry you past ancient maples and a beautiful, swimmable pond. Dogs are welcome and local squirrels can give them a run for you. Wild turkey, deer, and other forest dwellers are frequently seen; sometimes from the comfort of the front porch and, when night comes, you won't believe the stars. Space to set up tents is also available for an additional fee.
This is glamping. The nearest neighbor is over a mile away. So this cabin is a place for people to reconnect with nature and with each other and bring their dogs along. It is an excellent place for quiet walks in the woods, wine or whiskey under the stars, being together and just enjoying being. This is a place for people who love the deep woods but also like indoor plumbing and a microwave. During the week, there are occasionally gravel or timber trucks running nearby but at night, it is absolutely quiet aside from owls. See the video walkthrough here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXkugAAzNOo
Your neighbors will be assorted flora and fauna including the maples from which we make syrup in the spring.
  • We came back for another relaxing weekend at Kingdom Camp after having a great time last year. Our second trip did not disappoint and was even better than the first! Tim made lots of nice additions to the cabin which made it even more cozy. He is great with communicating and went out of his way to make sure we had a fun weekend. The cabin is the perfect mix of connecting with nature and also access to flip on power as needed for a hot shower. The property is gorgeous and makes for great long walks with great scenery. Our dog, Luna, loves running around and exploring with lots of room for zoomies. She's one tired pup! If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, look no further. This is perfect. Thanks for everything, can't wait to come back again next year!

    Allison2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Kingdom cabin is a lovely rustic place in the woods. It’s quiet and simple and cozy. The stars are incredible at night! We ran into a problem with one of our happy dogs and Tim was great getting us vet recommendations and calling ahead to book us in. All in all a wonderful stay and we will certainly return.

    Cheryl2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Just got back from a weekend here with my boyfriend and two dogs, and it was so very peaceful and relaxing, despite being slightly different than we’d originally bargained for. Unfortunately there were some issues with the generator(s), but Tim was extremely responsive and came over on multiple occasions when we texted him to check out the issue, and called someone to come to fix it. He couldn’t have controlled something breaking, these things happen by accident, but for what he could control (his response) we are very happy with. It did change our overall experience without electricity/water most of the time, however it also made for great stories. Tim was very concerned and is an excellent host who ensured that they’re working to get this resolved prior to renting to an Airbnb guest again. Key takeaways - Our dogs LOVED being free and exploring the property! We were so close to Lake St George and the breweries over there! The stars at night are just unreal, zero light pollution whatsoever. We will definitely be back!

  • We came up for dinner at the Lost Kitchen and fell in love with Maine. It was fun to stay in the secluded cabin, with plenty of room for 4 people and two dogs. Tim was a great host, giving us tons of tips on where to go in the area. Hope to return one day!

    Abigail2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was the perfect woodsy getaway. Tim was a great host, and Susan helped us drive into the property to find the cabin, showed us around, and all around made us feel comfy and welcome. Thanks again!

    Erin2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely cabin in the woods. Enough amenities to be very comfortable while still feeling emersed in nature.

    Jennifer2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • I am glad I chose Tim's property for my stay in Maine during this fall season. I do not generally write reviews unless I really want others to know how wonderful my experience was. Tim and Amy are very welcoming, warm and kind. They drove from 13 miles away to lead us to the property from route 3 and help us with our check in and show us around how things work. The drive from route 3 to the property was beautiful. The house is a cozy comfortable place to stay for 4. If you are looking for glamping in the woods, where you can enjoy the peace watching twinkling stars in the night, this is a perfect place to stay.

    Asha2018-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a perfect get away! We came here to celebrate my husband's 30th birthday by getting out of the city and enjoying some peace and quiet. My husband loves being in the outdoors and I do too, but require some more amenities than a tent. This was a perfect fit! Tim and Amy were great hosts and sent us so many tips for our trip! They had the wood stove going for us before we got there and made sure we were taken care of with lots of bottled water and even bowls for our dog. The wood stove is incredibly warm and the generator was great for power as needed. By far my favorite part of this cabin is the property around it. The wooded area is huge and we had so much space without running into anyone. Luna had the absolute best time and we felt very safe letting her run around. Tim gave me a heads up on ticks in Maine, so we put a Seresto collar on her the day before. I was so grateful for that heads up since we found a few on her that were dying before they could bite/attach because of the collar. All in all, this was the perfect place to get away and relax with beautiful views on an incredible piece of land. I'm so happy we found this gem and can't wait to go back! 10/10 definitely recommend.

    Haley2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • This off the grid spot is perfect for anyone who is truly looking for an unplugged, outdoor, and simple living experience. Late fall/early winter is a great time of the year to experience all it has to offer! The wood stove is hearty, and kept us plenty warm in the almost single digits at night. We are already planning the next time we want to come back. D&S are excellent hosts, and we had the pleasure of meeting David to review the logistics of their wood stove. Definitely will be coming back to this beautiful, hidden, secret spot.

  • We arrived in the darkness and found it after a little bit of a search and were so beyond happy with what we found:) The cabin is so cozy, well thought out, and immediately felt like home. The next morning we had time to discover the amazing surroundings and go for a short paddle on the beautiful lake nearby! Perfect getaway for a weekend from Boston and soooo relaxing. Definitely going to be coming back soon.

  • My family had a wonderful time at the house on Evergreen. The location is excellent, with the access to the lake and the sound of the loons on the property. Everyone in my family was comfortable, and content all week. It was also very quiet and private. And having some of the best Maine ice cream and comfort food right down the road sweetened our time there! We'd be happy to return.

    Rachel2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect getaway on the lake, with a short drive to the coast. The house is beautiful and everything we needed for the week was available.

  • Lauren’s lake house is a gem in the woods. It was private and tucked away with access right to the lake and a private dock. But also was down the street from a gas station and only a short drive to a hannafords. The house came fully stocked. Kitchen, dining, bath essentials, etc. Anything that we forgot to pack, we found right in the house! It was also very clean and had a bedroom and bathroom on each floor. The basement had a pool table and a working pin ball machine and also a bar area. We came with our two young kids looking for a relaxing fun getaway and that’s exactly what we got! 10/10 for everything! We would highly recommend anyone to rent Lauren’s lake house as it will not disappoint!

    Annie2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • The house was great alot bigger and nicer than pictures. Would stay again

    Chris2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazingly spacious house in an amazing location. With three bedrooms and a great room, there is plenty of space for families to spread out. Our host Lauren could not have been more accommodating. After the extreme heat this summer and early fall, we arrived at the start of a cold snap. However, we turned on the heat and a call to Lauren quickly sorted out our need for space heaters to warm up bedrooms that did not have baseboard heat--they arrived almost immediately! We were warm and comfortable during our stay despite low temperatures outside and the well stocked kitchen, comfortable couch, numerous board games, and very comfortable beds made us not mind the cold and rainy weather. Our family celebrated mutual birthdays and a special anniversary with dinner at The Lost Kitchen (yes, we won the lottery), but also enjoyed visiting Liberty Tool and Liberty Graphics, the Bryant Stove Museum in Thordike, and walking across the bridge and along the water in nearby Belfast. Although rain prevented use of available kayaks made available, we walked down to the dock on the last day to stand on the dock and hear the loons and enjoy the privacy of this remote location near to Lake George State Park. Truly a beautiful part of the world and one we hope to visit again.

    Kate2018-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lauren's house is big, beautiful and comfortable. Great beds, showers and property. If you plan on cooking, it has everything you could need. I would definitely stay here again.

  • So beautiful and clean. Loved this home. Thank you for sharing 💕

    Amanda2018-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • This lake house has it all. Great views, loons calling other loons. Crystal clear waters, beautiful forest. The hostess provided everything that you may need for cooking, bedding and toiletries etc. There is an out door grill, a Roku TV. A huge sectional in the living room and plenty of room to roam. A bumper pool table with a bar. Enough beds for eight. Close to a store/gas station . An ice cream parlor. But the best part was the Keurig of course after the fact that it was a great place to have quality family time. This is an awesome place to get away. We loved it!

  • This was a great place to stay for a couple nights, and the room was super cozy, especially with the heater. It was super close to Colby, which is great if you’re visiting there.

  • A great bed, a clean room and bathroom, I felt very welcome and safe and got a great night's sleep. Only thing that would make this even better would be a Kcup for the coffee machine in the morning. Thanks, Phil and daughter!

Relax in knotty pine splendor in this charming lake side cottage.
Enjoy the splendid views over Pattee Pond.... Our cabin is situated on a quiet dirt road and we feel like it’s more relaxing and homey than a hotel stay... If you’re looking for that cozy, back-to-nature space to unwind, then this is the place to be!
While we are located in a woodsy lakefront setting, it’s only a short drive to grocery stores, restaurants and shops and parks
  • A rustic camp right on a pond facing east. Neighbors are close by and very nice. We enjoyed an a most amazing moonrise right from the deck looking across the pond. Gorgeous view. Mike and Paula responded quickly and were a delight to work with.

  • Perfect place to stay if you are visiting Waterville or want to be out on the lake!

    Tim2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Mike & Paula's place could not have exceeded my expectations more! It was cozy, immaculately clean, a beautiful home, had wonderful amenities and spectacular views!! The water pressure was impressively strong for the house being RIGHT on the water, the water also got nice and hot for a shower. The bed was quite comfortable (I slept in the king in the bottom floor). The house has three large decks, each with a nice secure railing and a great view of the sunset and sunrise over the pond. The pond was frozen over and made for a fun place to walk around straight off the back of the property. In the warmer months that access straight into the water would be unbeatable! Paula and Mike left a binder on the kitchen table with some excellent recommendations - I took their suggestion for Mainely Brews, a short drive away, and the food was superb. I'd drive the hour north from my house just to eat there in the future. The home was very well-appointed with extra blankets, plenty of towels, a pair of dog bowls and a pair of dog beds for furry companions, salt, pepper, coffee, plenty of cookware and eating ware. Perhaps most of all, I was very impressed with how clean the house is. Even the gas stove was in pristine order! Paula was very timely, friendly, and helpful in our communications, and the long road in was well-maintained and easily passable even with fairly fresh snow on the ground. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Mike & Paula's place with my dog, and look forward to returning in seasons and years to come!

    Devon2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mike and Paula's place was cozy. They were quick to respond and it was very easy to find. It was very clean and we enjoyed our short overnight visit. We hope to visit again this Summer.

This is a woodland cabin that is just waiting for you to snuggle in. Fire pit in the back for campfire fun! This is a small space for a big Maine adventure...💗
This space is pure woodland magic with a front screened in porch and full kitchen and bath. This unique cabin is tucked in the back of the property and is the most private of the three cabins. We've just opened this cabin for January reservations with the caveat that there are winter conditions here in the woods of Maine. Come and enjoy the coziness of a warm, winter cabin visit!
This is a woodland setting located off of route 7 in Jackson. The early morning is filled with the sounds of birds and the warm evening nights are dotted with fireflies. This a beautiful and unique place to decompress from life and to have a little solitude between outings to the local beaches, lakes and hiking trails!
  • This is a lovely peaceful cabin in Maine. It is cozy, clean, and comfortable. Doreen and Jim are attentive hosts. I enjoy staying here when I get the chance. It is a wonderful place to recharge.

    Helen2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Second-timers to this wonderful cabin. Entering into the Beehive is like stepping into peace and tranquility. The decor and furnishings are both charming and comfortable. On a chilly night, the wood cooking stove provides cozy warmth. On a warm night, open the doors for cool breeze. In the morning, you can listen to the birds singing while enjoying a hot cup of coffee. I just can't fully explain how special this place is. The hosts, Jim and Doreen, make you feel so welcomed- we had a fantastic-smelling lit candle and warm stove waiting for us when we arrived. If you are looking for a "happy place", look no further!

    Sarah2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Beehive cabin was a truly delightful space for our Valentine's weekend getaway. Jim and Doreen were communicative and accessible while respecting our privacy, and truly hospitable. On the day of our arrival we drove through very wintry conditions and Jim had a fire going in the woodstove for us. The space was charming, clean, stylishly decorated and with all the basic amenities needed: comfortable furniture, reliable electricity and wifi, hot water and a truly gorgeous surrounding landscape. For those looking for fun winter activities (or year round!) nearby, there's Northern Solstice Alpaca Farm and the Community Market 20 minutes west in Unity and Jacobson Glass Studio half an hour south in Montville. We plan to stay again in the future and will recommend this host to friends and family.

    Alex2019-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Doreen’s cabin is so lovely. I highly recommend staying here, definitely coming back again!

    William2018-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a unique property & down-to-earth couple! Jim & Doreen are great hosts. If you are into a rustic environment, with the opportunity for a true cabin experience, then this is the place. Very simple & comfortable. We stayed the first week of November, so we got to heat & cook with the old wood stove! Loved every aspect of being in a cabin!! Thank you Jim & Doreen!!

    Steve2018-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was so cozy! We wanted to pick it up and bring it with us to make it our new home. The hosts are very accessible but give you privacy. Everything was super clean and beautiful. Highly recommend this cabin!!!

    Nicole2018-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a cozy, warm stay in a rustic cabin, Jim and Doreen's Bee Hive is ideal for one to two people. The cabin was neat and clean and perfect for my mid-October visit to Maine. Jim and Doreen were great at communicating with me in advance of my stay and absolutely accommodating in every way. I would highly recommend this cabin (and these hosts!) to anyone looking for an inexpensive getaway in Mid-Maine.

    Jeff2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in the beehive cabin was the highlight of our trip. It poured rain one day and we made a fort in the pillows on the bed in the loft and read and dozed. It was heaven!

Burleigh Street is a unique part of town in Waterville. Large old houses on a quiet street along the Messalonskee stream. Many of the houses date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. Mr. Burleigh built our house in 1915. He and his family lived downstairs and his favorite aunt lived upstairs. Originally a two family house.
  • Thank you for opening up your home to my family and two dogs. It was a highlight of our trip. Hopefully we will be back next year.

Peaceful country setting in the mid-coast. Quiet, big gardens you can pick out of. Conveniently located, it’s a great jumping off place for lots of Maine adventures, but still quiet enough for quality relaxation. Come on over! Private setting, and you CAN get there from here: Camden and Belfast: 17 mins Rockland and Augusta: 40 mins Bangor: 1 hour Portland: 1 hour 40 mins Acadia and Moosehead: 2 hours
The bedroom has a double bed, a small writing desk, large closet and dresser. It’s right off the shared bathroom with a large soaking tub and laundry. There are two living rooms each with a wood burning stove for the colder months. There is a shared kitchen with a gas stove/oven, and a gas grill outside. There’s both dinning space inside and out. The house is on 3 acres and has a lovely yard. I grow and sell flowers in the season, so I’m often out there tending to business. I also work in town and am gone a few nights a week.
  • Nellie’s antique farmhouse is far more beautiful than the photos convey. Nellie herself was warm, welcoming and generous. She shared a map and recommendations for hiking trails and offered us fresh eggs from her chickens. The room is sizable, the bed plenty comfy, and the location perfect for exploring the midcoast.

    Lauren2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Love the old-world feel of this place. I look forward to visiting again.

    Andy2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Nellie's place is just great. It's a beautiful old farmhouse, kept toasty warm by wood stoves, with chickens, a great dog, friendly cats and friendly people! The room is very big, nice and quiet with a really comfortable bed. Lots of interesting titles in the living room bookshelves. Nellie is very warm and helpful with a great sense of humor and she makes delicious soup! Absolutely recommended.

    Andrew2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Nice old place with lovely cats and dog. Atmosphere was really nice!

    Albert2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Getting to Nellie’s farm the trip is along a beautiful countryside road that I could only appreciate better the next morning driving back to Camden. I like the rusticity of the place, the mobiliary and the decorations with all the charm of an old farm and the simplicity of a shared bathroom. Very nice and quiet place ,warm , comfortable, clean and two welcoming friendly cats wanting to communicate. I didn’t get to meet Nellie this time ,maybe next but I must say that she got a very special place .

    Victor2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home in a convenient location. Nellie is a responsive and understanding host with wonderful recommendations for places to visit in the surrounding areas.

    Zack2019-10-21T00:00:00Z

  • Cozy farmhouse with lots of space and nice sitting areas. The check in was uncomplicated. Nellie was very nice and even gave us a map for a great walking route. Definitely recommendable!

  • This little loft is a gem! It's location is perfect and having the cafe right downstairs was so great, we literally walked out one door and in the other, didn't even need jackets (on a very cold day), and had a wonderful breakfast! The bed is extremely comfortable and I really appreciated all the appliances and dishes available as I hung out there for a good portion of a day while the husband was ice fishing....I stayed in and had coffee and eggs (in the microwave) for breakfast and pizza (in the toaster oven) for lunch. Hot water in the shower never got close to running out for us and Tamika even provides some essential toiletries in case you forget yours. We stayed nice and toasty warm and there were so many blankets provided in case we needed them. All in all, a place we loved to stay, very comfortable and you have to try the cafe when you visit! Top notch hosts!

    Erica2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific! Very cozy and warm on a very cold night, great menu to choose from downstairs, and the most welcoming hosts. So lucky to have this sweet space in downtown Unity!

    Julia2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • This little apartment sits right over a cafe that the owners own it was a nice little treat to go just a few steps down stairs and have a bite to eat. The hosts are very fast to respond and very gracious. Small touches made the apartment special. The bed was super comfy! Plenty of covers for winter time travel! Percent for 3 people! Right in downtown Unity. Will stay again!

    Emma2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect gem, located right in downtown Unity. Comfy beds, cozy comforters, and great heat system meant we slept warm and snug in spite of single digit temperatures outside. Tamika and Dan are wonderful hosts.

Our cabin is a rustic retreat on the shores of Cross Pond. It is a wonderful place for adults and children. You will be serenaded by the call of the loons and Canadian geese. You are welcome to enjoy the waterfront, use our canoes and kayaks, swim and fish We are close to Belfast and Camden, centers of coastal Maine activities. Acadia National Park is 1 hour and 15 minutes away.
  • A fantastic location. Secluded and quiet, with a gorgeous lake and beautiful trees. We came end of October and the trees around the cabin were still colorful, when other places in the state were not. The cabin was cozy and was perfect for the two of us. And Steve was incredibly friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

    Michael2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • LoonSong is a cozy, thoughtfully built and well-appointed cabin with everything you need for the perfect Maine getaway. I was there in mid-October and while it was quite brisk outside, the wood stove kept me nice and cozy. Steve was a warm and welcoming host and the property and cabin are just so beautiful that I ended up coming back early on my sightseeing day just to be able to enjoy it all!

    James2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved this charming cabin. It is well thought out and cozy, with everything we could need. The sleeping accomodations were clean and very comfortable. The pond was super for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. We loved how clear the water was and how quiet the pond was. We took Chris and Steve up on the generous offer to use the canoe, kayaks, and lifejackets during our stay. We had everything we needed for cooking meals. There was even coffee and homemade raspberry preserves (delicious) in the fridge for us. The cabin is a good home base for exploring Belfast and Lincolnville. In Belfast we grabbed lunch one day down on the water and then walked the waterfront trail across the bridge and back. Had ice cream down on the waterfront, too, and then stopped at the co op for some dinner fixings. Even though we had torrential downpours the first night, the cabin stayed dry and warm. Legos, Jenga, and coloring books entertained the kids during the rainy day and we were down at the dock on the sunny day. Would definitely recommend this place for its coziness, cleanliness, water activities, proximity to Belfast, and for its friendly and helpful hosts. I hope we'll be back!

    Emily2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Loonsong and just wished we could’ve stayed a bit longer! We enjoyed swimming in the pond and Steve and Chris were gracious, friendly hosts.

    Elsbeth2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Chris was away during our stay, but her husband Steve was a kind and generous host. The cabin was beautiful and magical to stay in and I enjoyed morning swims, as well as the peaceful quiet of the woods. A bald eagle and lots of loons were morning companions on the pond. I stayed with my two outdoorsy/art-loving teenage daughters. We enjoyed trips to Acadia National Park and the antique stores in Belfast, as well as just swimming in the pond on hot days. I would highly recommend this beautiful place for a true getaway.

    Heidi2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • We received a wonderful welcome from Steve and he gave us some tips to explore Belfast and Acadia. They also provided all the cooking appliances such as grill, toaster, pots etc. We had a blast using the boats boards and swam in the pond. Can't wait to get back here!

  • Beautiful, quiet, relaxing place for a getaway. The view from the deck is breath-taking- we went during leaf peeping season and were sure to wake up to watch the sun rise!

    Kristen2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures just don’t do this really unique space justice —the view is breathtaking and the cabin is very cozy. Loved that we were in a very walkable distance to the brewpub yet when you’re at the cabin, you are still secluded and feels private. The host and those we met in the brewpub were super friendly — We definitely hope to return!

  • Really relaxing and beautiful stay! Felt right at home.

    Michelle2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect getaway for my husband and I. The views are incredible. The cabin is adorable and cozy. You must go eat the brewpub while you’re here. The food and staff were incredible. Guy was excellent with communication and answered all my messages promptly.

    Rena2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful experience in Guy’s cabin. Not only was the cabin itself charming and perfect for our family get-away, but the brew pub on site with delicious wood-fired pizza, great beer, hard cider and bbq, made our experience OUTSTANDING. I will highly recommend this listing to anyone headed to the Liberty, ME area.

    Molly2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Guy's cabin - it is truly a special place and you can tell that Guy has put in a lot of thought to make it a wonderful experience for his guests. Our only regret is that we didn't get to spend longer there. Check-in and communication were super easy. We loved that there are trails to explore right out the back door (thanks Guy for your work on this), and as everyone has mentioned, the view from the cabin is amazing. Having the brewpub onsite is convenient but set just far enough to still feel private. The food was excellent! Just a heads up that there's no oven (in case like us you bought certain groceries), but otherwise, the cabin has everything you'd need. We hope to be back enjoying the view!

    Cindy2019-09-15T00:00:00Z

If you're not from Maine, this is our signature dessert and you'll need to try one! Looking for a fresh out of the bay lobster, you'll need to head over to Young's Lobster Pound! Hannaford is our local grocery store and that's 10 miles away (14 minutes) Even though we are located in Knox, you'll want to head to town for all the fun things to do.
  • Such a unique and cozy place!

  • Our family of 8 very much enjoyed our stay at Laura’s cabin & caboose! It was really an ideal spot for us. The 4 boys loved sleeping and playing in the caboose. Our girls were thrilled with the loft. We had 2 very cozy and pleasant evenings together. The fireplace great! Home away from home!

    Adam2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Laura and Chris's cabin and caboose are nothing short of amazing, from the milky way at night to the trails and coffee in the morning. Both spaces are impressive with their comfy touches. Laura was a great host by accommodating us at the last minute and the space was absolutely immaculate. Also, there's an apple orchard and the cabin/caboose fits 8 people with two bathrooms-like you needed more convincing. I'll undoubtedly be back! Thank you!

    Lea2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is wonderful place to stay. Both Caboose and Cabin are very unique and we love both of the exterior and interior. I really appreciate that Laura offered this place for me to propose to girlfriend. Our friends also enjoyed staying with us. We would definite come back again in the future.

The Appleton Retreat is a short scenic drive to Belfast, Camden and Rockland. Braeburn at The Appleton Retreat is down a 1/2 mile driveway, on 120 acres of private land, bordered by a 1,300 acre Nature Conservancy reserve. A 25 minute trail leads to a large secluded pond, perfect for a refreshing swim. Braeburn feels like a treehouse, with expansive windows, overlooking woods and wildlife. After a hike, grilling on the porch or dinner out, indulge in your private therapeutic year round hot tub.
Braeburn is separated a good distance from the main house and is totally private. It features all new construction with cathedral ceilings and lots of windows. It has a well equipped full kitchen/galley with Fisher Paykel gas range and a propane fireplace. There is a high quality pull out couch in the living area, and a comfy daybed in the bedroom area, perfect for an afternoon nap. Enjoy the outdoors on the deck where you will find a propane grill; wood and an all season hydrotherapeutic hot tub. (There is also a fire pit with all the fire makings.) From Braeburn there is a mile long wooded trail leading to a large secluded pond. It is great for cross country skiing, swimming and paddle boarding. Bring a fishing pole!. Another trail on our property leads to The Pettengill Stream, a resource protected area and huge aquifer where you can view wildlife and kayak. There are also many Maine Trails within a 15 minute drive of The Appleton Retreat. And for those wanting to play a casual game of golf, The West Appleton Golf Club is a beautiful 9-hole course just 5 minutes down the road. (You can rent clubs.) These amenities and just a 1/2 hour drive to access the charming mid-coast towns make the Appleton Retreat a very special place. The Retreat is down a .4 mile driveway on 120 acres of forested land. Recently we bit the bullet and went on the grid - not a romantic choice, but added to our homestead allowing us to turn off the generator and turn on the hot tub. Appleton is a sleepy town with a wonderful lavender farm, Glendarragh Farm, which features all-natural soaps, salves and lavender bouquets. Appleton Creamery is another local gem. Their small herd of Alpine dairy goats provide milk for award winning goats milk cheeses. They are open on Saturday’s, seasonally.
  • We fully enjoyed our little escape in the woods. The property is gorgeous, the house was beautiful, and the hosts were responsive. I'd suggest unplugging entirely while you are there, if at all possible. You can hear the owls and the turkeys, and your own thoughts. We loved the hot tub, and the sauna was a real treat. I hope we can return as soon as possible!

  • I can't recommend this place highly enough. Peter and Toby have created a private sanctuary in Appleton, and we felt the weight lift from our shoulders immediately after stepping out of our vehicle. We stayed in Braeburn, and the three words in my head as I think back on our weekend trip are: Coziness; Elegance; Simplicity. We were celebrating my partner's birthday, and made trips to Belfast and Camden during our stay, both of which were easy, lovely drives. The guidebook Peter and Toby have created offered many suggestions for shopping and food, and we ended up deciding to go out for dinner both nights of our stay after researching their recommendations. Our meals were absolutely wonderful each time, and the drive back to Braeburn's hot tub and fireplace was short, but next time I think we might just bring everything we need so we never have to leave!

    Brian2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Peter and Toby’s place is a little slice of heaven. In fact, we’ve come two years in a row it’s that great. The cottage has the most beautiful light-filled windows and all the amenities. The fireplace and hot tub make for a relaxing getaway and the linens and bed are super comfortable.

    Patrick2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful getaway! Such a peaceful and cozy stay to reset and unwind. Peter and Toby really put a lot of thought into all the touches to make sure you have everything you need during the stay. Will definitely be back!

    Rene2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Peter and Toby’s place is everything you want in a New England getaway. This was now our second time staying at Braeburn and I’m sure it won’t be the last. It is so cozy, warm, and serene. The bed is very comfortable. The hot tub outside is a nice bonus. We loved going in at night to watch the stars. We also tried the sauna which was great after a snowy morning hike. If you’re looking for a peaceful, romantic getaway- stay here!

    Katie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Braeburn at The Appleton Retreat was more than perfect for our last minute, Valentines Day getaway! The space was so immaculate and cozy. We took full advantage of their wood burning sauna and private hot tub, which totally hit the spot for me since it has been freezing lately! Our pups, Bennie and Charlie had the most amazing time! They love being able to run free and explore in the outdoors... they were so sad that we had to leave. We can’t wait to come back and experience the other super cute properties at The Appleton Retreat! Thank you for such a wonderful weekend!

    Loren2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly incredible- it is beautifully tucked away in the woods. We stayed here in the winter and the snowy woods was serene. We spent our time mostly laying by the fire and cooking in the awesome kitchen. would definitely recommend

The treehouse, BREEZE, is located at The Appleton Retreat on 120 acres of private land, bordered by 1,300 acres of a protected nature conservancy. To the south is the Pettengill Stream a resource protected area and to the north a large secluded pond. BREEZE guests may reserve the wood fired cedar hot tub and the sauna which are close by and private. The Appleton Retreat is less than a 30 minute drive to Belfast, Rockport, Camden and Rockland, charming downeast seaside towns.
Total privacy, alone in a tree, the ultimate getaway. The 1st floor of BREEZE is over 20' high and the sleeping loft is approximately 40' off the ground. To gain access to BREEZE requires climbing three flights of stairs. Two are very easy and code compliant, the 3rd is a ships ladder - most dogs will need a lot of coaching or need to be carried up. The sleeping loft is also accessed by a steep set of stairs. This is probably not a great place for young children..... You will experience the uniqueness of being in a tree! Windowed walls overlook the treetops and a glimpse of the ridge to the south. There is a large deck for hanging out.... (CAUTION: In winds over 25 mph you may experience some movement and noise - not to worry!) Although BREEZE appears to be a rustic structure, it has many amenities including: a full galley kitchen; a shower and traditional toilet, as well as good old electricity........ so you will not be roughing it. There is private parking at the treehouse. The local towns of Hope, Union, Liberty and Lincolnville are like taking a step back to the past. They are truly quaint with their little general stores and blink of the eye town centers. Of course you don't want to miss a visit to coastal Maine and the bigger towns of Belfast, Rockport, Camden and Rockland, with their rugged coastline and schooners plying the waters. Breathtaking.

  • The cabin was so clean and cozy! They offered linens and snacks as well as lots of tips and suggestions for activities/restaurants for the area. Such a quiet place close enough to Acadia, so you get a full experience. The hosts are so kind and interested in making sure that your trip goes well! Definitely a place we would return to.

    Tara2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jon is a great host providing plenty of suggestion and knowledge of the area. The cabin was impeccably clean with special added touches like no other. We will deffinately be returning.

    Amanda2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful cabin, perfectly laid out and clean. Linens, snacks, somehow no bugs and close to lots of lovely places which Jon can tell you all about.

    Margaret2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I spent a delightful long weekend exploring the Mid-Coastal region of Maine, with Jon's lovely cabin as a perfect base. Jon and his wife Martha were extremely hospitable, offering us tailored recommendations for places to visit based on our interests. The cabin was spotlessly clean and stocked with unexpected but much appreciated amenities, such as freshly ground coffee, orange juice, milk, and snacks. Whatever your reasons for visiting the area, I imagine you'd be hard pressed to find a more perfect spot.

    Kevin2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay. Jon was a great host. He greeted us as soon as we pulled in and showed us around the cabin. He gave us a lot of suggestions for fun things to do in the area. My daughter was sick and Jon gave told me where the closest hospital was. He also checked in with us to see how she was feeling throughout our stay. Jon was very friendly and thoughtful. The cabin was perfectly clean and comfortable. It was stocked with snacks, fresh ground coffee, tea, and drinks. I would definitely stay here again!

    Rebecca2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lots of places say “sparkling clean.” This one really is. 4 years old and still brand new. The spot is perfectly serene and the host exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable.

    Jerome2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jon's cabin is a great little spot off the beaten path. We arrived a little early which was no problem since the cabin is located right next to Jon's house. He was quick to come out and greet us before we even got to the door. Jon was very welcoming and pleasant. He gave us a great background of the cabin and the story of building it as well as his own home. He brought us into the cabin and gave us an overview for our stay. He had freshly ground coffee as well as a stock of snacks, and water and milk in the fridge. The cabin had WiFi which was great. Jon provided us a list of things to do in the surrounding area, Belfast, ME being one of the suggestions that we took him up on. It was a quick little trip with lots to do. Most of our time was in Bangor which was just 40 minutes away so the cabin was in a good spot for us. We communicated with Jon a few times through AirBnB and he was very responsive. Upon our departure, Jon came out to meet us to ensure we had a pleasant time. If/when we return to the area we would certainly check to see if the cabin in available. It's a great place and Jon is an excellent host.

    David2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jon's cabin is the perfect getaway for a weekend in Maine. Jon claimed the cabin was three years old -- but to be honest, it felt brand new to us! It was immaculately clean, and still smelled of fresh wood. Jon's hospitality was also above expectations -- he provided all kinds of goodies in the cabin (including lots of fresh coffee, cocoa, tea, snacks, and even wine!). He added special touches, like a greeting in Nepali to welcome the guests I was staying with. Also, on size: my group had four people, and we felt comfortable, despite the small space. Though this is a cabin, it still has modern amenities -- the bathroom was fully functional with hot water (unlimited -- no running out of hot water!). In short, I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a secluded, quiet, but comfortable place in Maine.

The kitchen table folds into another sleeping area that can accommodate 1 adult or child, 1 adult and 1 small child, or 2 young children. You will need to bring bedding for the fold-out bed if you plan to use it. If you need a little extra room, there is also room to pitch your tent next to the R-Pod. Feel free to contact us about your needs.
The camper is located on a quiet, paved road in a rural, residential area about 3 miles from downtown Belfast.
  • Staying in Sam's r-pod was a really cool experience. The "pod" was clean and well organized. It just has a comfortable and unique feel. Its close to downrown and yet feels out in the country. I appreciate the eco-friendliness and concern for the enviornment. I would recommend to anyone looking for something a little different.

  • Great option for a private sleeping quarters en route heading north to Acadia! Trailer is a nicely arranged space to enjoy for cooking, sleeping, and sitting around while talking or using mobile devices. Loved aroma of evergreens on paths to trailer and outhouse. Close to center of Belfast, but surprisingly quiet neighborhood for good sleep.

    Carol2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb is better than expected! It’s cute and has all you need! The outhouse is a bit buggy, but much cleaner than anticipated! This family cares about the environment and there are so many details that show this! We loved our time here. The early morning was so beautiful and quiet. It was lovely to sit outside drinking tea while the sun rose. We were grateful for our time here!

    Megan2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • The camper was a lovely way to spend a work night! Check-in couldn't have been easier, the camper was super clean and had enough privacy to feel like a mini get-away. I was glad I brought a blanket, but I chose not to turn on the heat until I got up to shower in the am. Glad I brought shampoo, it's listed in the amenities, but there wasn't soap or shampoo in the shower. Overall, a great place for the money and if I come back in warm weather, I'd check it out again.

    Erika2019-09-10T00:00:00Z

  • Gary and Fiona's place is charming and quiet, a lovely way to spend the night in a clean and tidy early American farm home. Their property has a mix of well kept lawn and shade trees that fit the history of the property. We liked visiting with them both, and sendoff was a cozy breakfast in a sunny kitchen and dining area. We'd love to stay here again!

  • Fiona & Gary made our Maine Autumn vacation so very special! We can not recommend them highly enough! From their tips & insight into local Maine areas/activities, to their custom hot breakfasts, to their clean and comfortable facilities ... and they even have 2 wonderful goats you can pet/enjoy. Beautiful large yard with relaxing hammocks... you’re lucky for having come across their Air B&B ad - look no further! ♥️🍁🍷🏡

    Philip2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful experience! As Parents of a Colby College Junior, our only regret is that we didn’t find Fiona and Gary earlier! The room and shared living space are both beautiful and comfortable. The back porch and walk to the lake were a treat. And best of all we’re conversations with Fiona and Gary; it was like staying with friends! We will absolutely be back!

  • The photos don't reveal the more than amazing specialness of this Airbnb. The views are spectacular, the antique decor, luxurious bedding But the best part was the conversation with Fiona and Gary!!

  • Fiona and Gary are the most wonderful hosts. Their beautiful old home is charming, comfortable and clean. Fiona makes the most amazing breakfasts - and both she and Gary are delightful to chat with. They gave us great recommendations on local restaurants and hikes. They also let us feed their goats. ;) We loved staying with Fiona and Gary and will definitely book with them again next time we're in Maine.
