  • Great location in Sewanee... Had a really enjoyable visit and enjoyed getting to know Susan!

    Chris2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • It was really cool staying with Susan and her 2 happy dogs! Sewanee is a charming university town with amazing hiking routes and great scenery. The home was a historical gem...and Susan's DVD collection was awesome! =) Susan was very friendly and accommodating and we felt very much at home here.

    Joyce2016-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcome home and easy stay!

    Avery2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Susan responded immediately to my inquiry, answered all my questions, welcomed us, showed us around, gave us free rein in the kitchen and offered refreshments. Warm, gracious and very knowledgeable about the university and surroundings. She even gave us an extra bedroom rather than let me go through with my original plan to camp out with my sleeping bag for extra bed space. It's hospitality in a real home, not a sterile spare room or overgrown closet! The only thing you need to be aware of is that there may be other guests in the house (so respect other people's quiet hours) and the shared baths.

    Colwell2016-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Susan was friendly, welcoming, and very flexible with check-in. The house is a lovely old creature of Sewanee-southern ambiance, but it's also a bit drafty. Perfect for visits to the university.

    DeVan2017-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Susan was accommodating with my later than expected arrival & was quite welcoming. I was there only one night and for only enough time to shower & go to bed, then leave in the morning, so I had precious little time there. It is a lovely old home. Susan does mention on her site they have dogs. Their dogs are generally quiet and are contained in part of the house in case you are not a fan of dogs.

    Rebekah2016-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Had a delightful first visit to Sewanee, Susan was most gracious and enjoyed the historical home....comfy bed, great coffee and a glass of vino on the charming porch! Perfect location and an authentic experience in this lovely school, town.

Incredible mountaintop escape with spectacular views, Pelham Pointe is a wonderfully secluded custom log home on 15 acres of stunning natural beauty. Mere minutes to The Caverns, Monteagle, Sewanee, Manchester, TN State Parks, Chatt and an hour+ to Nashville. Walk our forested wonderland or relax on the spacious deck viewing the endless valley below. The cabin's completely furnished with 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, new kitchen+laundry, gorgeous wood interior, books, games, instruments, movies & more!
Wide-open vistas and peaceful serenity await your visit to our lovely mountain home. The expansive deck matches the views, putting you into the scenery. Grilling outdoors includes an extraordinary panorama of the valley below - and you're always welcome to continue your viewing pleasure with meals on the deck's iron patio furniture! Sunsets are simply extraordinary. Later, the fire pit and porch swing await when the evening skies and valley lights magically come alive. Dancing summertime lightning bugs (also known as fireflies) are marvelous after-dark performers, too. The flora, fauna, geology, geography and natural wonders are equally inspiring, too. The cabin's natural wood interior is knotty pine, all within a classic A-frame design. There are board games, puzzles, musical instruments, books, toys, a telescope, binoculars for birdwatching, CDs & movies for the whole family - all with comfortable places and spaces to rest, read and renew. Enjoy cooking? The kitchen is well equipped with various tools of the trade and the large gas grill is always popular for cooking on the deck. We'll always do our best to source specially requested items, too. Enjoy all the mountain has to offer and embrace your Pelham Pointe experience! You'll feel at home, without want, surrounded by nature's beauty. And yet, you're never too far to get away from it all! Incredible hiking at an amazing array of trails, mountain views, rivers, rock climbing, an abundance of waterfall (many with swimming holes) and the list goes on and on. Nationally registered historic sites are just down the road and throughout the region. Are you a music lover? New to Pelham, The Caverns venue is just four miles around the bend. Monteagle is a six mile picturesque drive down the historic Dixie Highway. Sewanee University of the South is only 12 miles away, Winchester, Manchester and Bonnaroo are all just over 16 miles down US-41. Nashville is *barely over an hour's drive* (about 70 miles), while Chattanooga's just 45 minutes away. We're new to Airbnb, but not new to hosting guests. Come and see why our friends and family love to go to Pelham Pointe!
On the mountain's edge of the Cumberland Plateau, the farming valley below extends for miles and miles into the distant horizon. The nearest neighbors' homes are simply not visible from the cabin - you're all alone on your own private mountain ridge! Folks in the nearby Pelham area are quite kind and friendly. There are some really good restaurants and a small community store a couple miles away in town (Simply Southern, Tess's & The Northcutt Family Market). And, Bluegrass Underground's newest home, The Caverns, is just four miles away. Monteagle has all sorts of offerings, including family fav's the Mountain Goat Market, The Dutch Maid Bakery & Cafe, and Smokehouse restaurant, and they're all about 6 miles down the road. A myriad of free Tennessee State Parks are within a 20-mile radius of the cabin - many just an idyllic country drive away. Their offerings are so unique, ranging from nature viewing, hiking. climbing, fishing and boating through the vast mountains, valleys, waterfalls, lakes and rivers of middle Tennessee. • What a beautiful mountain retreat! Our party of six had a fabulous time at Pelham Pointe! The cabin is beautiful inside and out. In addition it was clean and well furnished with everything you could possibly need. The spacious deck was my favorite feature of the cabin as it provided access to an amazing view. Although secluded, many attractions are not far away; we enjoyed hiking, kayaking, zip lining and shopping in the nearby towns. The listing was extremely accurate; expect no surprises or gotchas because everything is exactly as stated. And finally, I couldn't submit this review without expressing how patient and understanding Mark was when I had some unexpected hiccups with my AirBNB reservation! Being an extremely good communicator, he was great to work with and made sure we had a pleasant visit. Thanks, Mark and Angela, for opening your cabin to our family!

    Lisa2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was perfect for a team retreat for work for 3 of us. Wonderful setting to get away from distractions and busyness. The host was very accessible for questions, and did a great job with instructions, directions, etc. We hope to come back!

    Aaron2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Pelham Pointe is a great place to stay if you want to get away! It was clean, comfortable, and quiet; everything functioned perfectly. The deck outside was a great place to sit and relax in the afternoon and a great place to stargaze after watching the sunset. There was even a deer that visited the pond a few times while we were there! The place is large and was plenty of room for two families. We would definitely stay there again if we have the opportunity to do so.

    Kendra2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best place to stay in TN. Secluded from city life, best view of nature from hill top cabin. Well maintained and full of amenities. Host Mark is friendly and quite helpful

    Deeraj2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first time using Airbnb. I could not have asked for a better experience! And seriously, the view is spectacular! The hosts are extremely communicative and easily accessible. Just follow the instructions and you will have no issues whatsoever. Such an amazing and relaxing stay!

    Rachel2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a mountaintop getaway that's home away from home, easily accessible to all modern conveniences, but feels like a million miles from the madness with a perfect sunset view - look no further! So much to do within a short drive, lots of wilderness on-site to explore - Pelham Pointe really provided us with everything we were looking to do (or not have to do!) all in one location. Mark's communications and guidance were above and beyond, and we are already planning our next trip out to Pelham Pointe! 5-Star recommendation from us for sure!

    Erick & Julie2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect little getaway from reality! The views were amazing, and it was close enough to make day trips to Chattanooga and close towns if we wanted but far enough to have your own little retreat to just hang out and relax. There was plenty of games and other things there to keep children of all ages occupied. The 4wd/AWD is HIGHLY recommended especially when it rains. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be staying again!

    Helen2017-06-27T00:00:00Z

Miller's one-bedroom, full bath and kitchen guesthouse with covered parking (for one car) in the Village on Sewanee Creek, a sustainable community on Tennessee's Eco-Rich Cumberland Plateau. Hike or ATV miles of wooded trails. A short walk to our private 50-foot waterfall.
Our 640 square ft. guest house was constructed from two CONEX shipping containers. But the warm pine interior, large picture windows and French doors opening onto the pond and waterfall trail through the woods give it the feel of a cozy country cabin. It's our "backup house", an experiment in sustainable living. Includes a full size kitchen, bathroom with shower/tub, bedroom with loft- 2 beds (single and double), living /dining room, reclining couch. Covered parking for one car.
We live in a sustainable village that we founded, filled with loving, caring neighbors. Each in their own way is working towards self-sufficiency within a tight-knit community. We build our own houses, help each other with many projects, raise our own food, keep goats and chickens, maintain a large greenhouse, experiment with alternative energy, capture the rain from our roofs and enjoy life together. The Village features a large amphitheater with stage, barbecue facilities, gazebos and an outdoor, large screen projection theater.
  • Can't say enough about how great my stay was. The Millers are awesome. They were super helpful and also very respectful of my privacy. I work from home so I worked when I was there. I had reliable internet and it was pretty carefree. Comfortable bed, roomy cabin, great functional kitchen and a super desk for me to work at. Loved to walk the woods and visit the waterfall. I stayed for a MONTH and can't wait to go back. Remember that you are in the woods in the mountains, so if mosquitos love you, be sure to bring your favorite repellant. Walking in the woods here is something you can't find most places... Peaceful and Serene!!!!!

    Vicky2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Grant upgraded me to his bigget Cabin while they were remodelling the smaller one, which was amazing. The waterfall behind the cabin was a bit dried up, but that is expected with this summer heat. The place was clean, cozy, and beautifull! Amazing wildlife & nature! Waterfalls & hiking trails all over the surrounding areas.

    Matt2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely perfect cabin! Fast and nice communication with the host. If you are reading this book it now because it was wonderful and a great value. The cabin comes with its own large private waterfall down a short Trail in the woods. It also comes with a goat that likes to stand on a gas tank. Both of these things will change your outlook on life for the better. Great air conditioning from two AC window units and wide-open Wi-Fi. It is on the small side but it can handle three or four very well. There is a long leather couch in the living room and a bedroom with a double bed and a single Bed above it in a loft. Updated bathroom and full kitchen. also includes a newly added deck and stainless steel propane grill. I can't wait to return to this cabin!

    Jones2017-08-21T00:00:00Z

  • I enjoyed a beautiful and relaxing stay. The walk to the waterfalls through the woods was beautiful. Thank you so much for providing a needed sanctuary for the night!! It was perfect!!

  • I've dreamed my entire life of seeing waterfalls and butterflies in the same place and my dreams came true when I went to this perfect little corner of the world. Not even in my wildest dreams would I have ever imagined that I could have waterfalls and butterflies plus all of the added, very well thought out, details that the Millers give. Grant took the time to drive me around the area explaining every little crevice of this beautiful land. He and his sweet wife greeted me with burgers cooking on the grill when I arrived and we all sat down to a nice dinner in the cabin that included fresh veggies they grew in their garden. They made me feel like family instantly which was awesome since I was traveling alone. The property is beautiful, the waterfall is amazing, and the cabin is absolutely perfect. It was clean and comfortable and very accommodating. This was my very first Airbnb experience and I have to say that I seriously doubt anyone else will ever come close to topping the level of excellence that Grant and his wife have achieved The best thing about them is that they developed this little village so they live for this stuff. This isn't just a "side" thing that they offer to make a little extra money. This is actually what they set out to do. It's really beautiful and refreshing to see that there are people who still exist in this world that want to share their joy with others. I can't wait to go back there again.

    Melissa2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Grant is a great communicator though I didn't make it to the house. I couldn't locate the place due to faliur of GPS signal and no cellphone service. I couldn't get there nor call out to help with the direction.

    Hi-saint2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place that you should definitely stay at. The longer the stay the better. My husband and I were here for a week with our infant son to get away from a hurricane and it turned out to be a great choice. The cabin is super cozy and had everything we needed. Fridge, stove, oven, heat, air, blankets, washer and dryer, privacy. We had so much fun whether we were inside playing board games(that were provided) or outside roaming the beautiful property. My favorite part had to be seeing the chickens hanging out on our deck. We spent most mornings and evening sitting on the deck enjoying the weather and the sounds of the trees. The location was perfect for us, exactly what we were looking for. It was secluded, woodsy, very natural, but a trip to town took only 15 minutes and a trip to Chattanooga was about 45. Meeting Grant and Becky really made it something special though. They are such kind and generous hosts. Becky grinds wheat herself and makes bread from it and Grant so kindly made us french toast one morning with that bread and all the fixings! They are such sweet people and they loved meeting our baby son, Atlas. We are absolutely going to come back.

My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
This is a very private home in a valley of the Cumberland Mountains, foothills of the Appalachians. We have easy access to the Interstate (24) and are about an hour's drive from Nashville, Chattanooga and Huntsville. We are fifteen minutes from Sewanee: the University of the South, and within half an hour of Fall's Mill, Old Stone Fort Archeological site, Jack Daniel's and George Dickel's distillaries and South Cumberland State Park. There is so much to see and do in Middle Tennessee and this little house is a great place for home base.
No neighborhood here. We live at the end of a half-mile gravel drive with cornfields in front of us and a forested mountain behind. It is very quiet and peaceful, but with easy access to the world.
  • Perfect halfway stop between northern Illinois and central Florida, not too far off the highway, very quiet and with enough beds for parents and teens. Jeanie was such a great host, accommodating our late arrival and leaving so many beautiful local treats for us! Wish we could have met her, but it was pouring rain and we needed to get back on the road. We will certainly be back if she'll have us! There's no tv or wifi, but we did t need either. The kitchen was very usable, and there's even a washer/dryer. One bathroom has a tub and no shower, which suited us; the other bathroom does have a shower, and there were more than enough fluffy towels to go around.

    Kitty2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place with a wonderful screened in porch just off campus and close to so many wonderful hiking paths. Jeanie was a wealth of knowledge leaving lots of brochures and suggestions or for us. Check in and out were a breeze and she went out of her war to make us feel welcome leaving home made bread and farm fresh eggs. It was a wonderful over all experience, would definitely stay again.

    Elen & Travis2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Jeanie's place was a Gem. We couldn't ask for better accommodations- from the local zucchini bread left on the kitchen counter for us, to the cute puppies playing during our morning coffee just outside the screened in porch- everything was great. My only regret is we couldn't stay longer and were only there for the eclipse. The house was huge and very cozy. Would recommend 10/10.

    Jenifer2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jeanie's place is a very quiet place which I love. She is a very generous person who offered a lot of free foods for us, eggs, bread, granolars, ice cream sandwiches, and others. She even offered us a free night stay since the next night wasn't booked. She is the best host.

    Huafang2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jeanie's Place was the perfect escape within close proximity to the surrounding cities. Jeanie was a fantastic host who definitely cared about her guests. House was very nice and had just we needed for a simple overnight stay.

  • As a 1st time AirBnB guest our overnight stay as we traveled across the country exceeded all our expectations. Upon check in we found Jeanie had left us yummy organic goodies, fresh eggs from her chickens. Roark's Cove Retreat is so spacious, peaceful & beautiful. It's surrounded by gorgeous trees for privacy however Jeanie is just a little path through the woods & available by text so it was easy I feel safe & at home there. The comfy beds & peaceful atmosphere suited our needs perfectly for an overnight stay across the country & plan to come back in the future! Jeanie is a wonderful host. Thank you Jeanie!

  • The perfect getaway! Cabin is in a very quiet location away from all the hustle and bustle. We enjoyed sitting on the porch in the morning listening to the waterfall and birds.

  • Beautiful log cabin, almost like new. Clean, quiet & not too far from Sewanee University. It is in the hills of Tracy City. Mobile cell service is spotty and no internet or TV...just what I need to recharge. Grant was a joy to work with, very communicative & available. Will definitely return when I'm in the area.

    Stephanie2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The quiet cabin is beautiful and surrounded by lush forest and a nearby waterfall. It's newly built and very clean. The Millers were very friendly and accommodating, showing us a lay of the land for hiking as soon as we arrived. Based on the description, we weren't sure if there would be a tv, so we brought a computer and watched dvds at the end of our unplugged days in the woods. This place was exactly what we were looking for -- to get away from city bustle, cell phones, distractions...We couldn't believe how affordable this incredible space was!

    Rachel2017-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Came here with a friend for a spur of the moment songwriting retreat and it was great! Pretty secluded and had a great back porch. Grant welcomed us by giving us a nice quick tour of the area which was certainly appreciated!

    Dylan2017-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was the most beautiful and quiet place my wife and I have ever stayed at. The pictures do not do this place justice. We will be going back soon!!

  • A perfect cabin for a getaway retreat! The hosts were hospitable and kind. The scenery was amazing. The cabin was spotless, beautiful, and comfortable. The city was also amazing! Grant's tour helped make our trip more exciting. Hiking the Fiery Gizzard is a must do on this trip. The perfect host for a perfect weekend!

  • If you're looking for a quiet haven away from the hustle-bustle of city life, as well as a vacation from screens and wifi, this is the place for you! We spent most of our time on the beautiful porch that occupies an entire side of the house, and has a wonderful view. A great place for catching up on reading/puzzles/board games. Furniture was a little sparse, but Grant let us know they were new to Airbnb and he quickly supplied everything we asked for. It's very secluded and shopping is limited, so you may want to bring some of your own food if you have specific dietary needs. Grant was very friendly and gave us the insider's scoop, and a tour! of the teeny town of Tracy City. There are multiple, gorgeous hikes (waterfalls galore!!) within a 15 mile radius.

  • Amy was a wonderful and gracious host: she regularly checked in with us to make sure we were ok during a snowstorm, arranged for household amenities to be delivered ahead of our arrival, and made sure the house was totally spick and span. The house is a perfect place to spend a few days, with ample room and cozy bedrooms. • Cindy's place is just like the pictures ! My husband an I spent our 14th wedding anniversary at the cabin ! It was amazing ! The weather just so happened to be just right for a fire that night !! Loved being able to sit around the fire , enjoying each other's company ! Oh , an lets not forget the bathtub was so relaxing ! We will definitely be back !

  • What a truly wonderful piece of America and a kind and gracious host. The cabin was truly "cozy" yet quite roomy. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean and the bathtub ... AHHHHHHH! We appreciated the step back in time and away from our usually busy lives. Meeting "Bear" at the bakery was extra special. I highly recommend this place of comfort and relaxation. Cindy is exactly what a host should be -- friendly, helpful, informative but not intrusive. Excellent.

    Elizabeth2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy's place is in an adorable town, just down the street from a great little bakery/diner and a hop away from some explore-worthy nature (including a refreshing creek we stomped around in on a 90-degree day). She met us on arrival and was very friendly. After showing us around the cabin, Cindy came back to bring us two bicycles we could use if we wanted to ride around town! Throughout the weekend, Cindy was accessible but not intrusive, and we loved our stay at the cabin. There's no wifi or cable tv and the cell service is minimal, so this is a great place to go if you're looking to "unplug." My husband and I will definitely be back!

    Michelle2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Had the best weekend exploring all Tracy city has to offer. Cindy was a great host and made us feel so welcome -- pastries and all. Will definitely be back!

  • Great stay

  • My wife had a conference in the Nashville area and we added a few extra days to explore the back roads of Tennessee. Being our travels would have us near the Sequatchie Valley, the Moonshine Runners cabin was one of the options. I loved the idea of stepping back in time of our American history and it worked with some of our other site-seeing adventures. We needed some dinner ideas on a Sunday evening and she suggested a wood fired pizza place about 30 minutes away. The view was beautiful as the sun was setting over the Tennessee River valley painting the clouds in yellows and reds. Tracey City and rural Tennessee is a great place to meet the friendly people of Tennessee.

    Fred2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much! We had such an amazing time here. The information that Cindy shared with us was invaluable and the history was an added bonus. Check out Foster Falls if you have the time it was relaxing. Roomy cabin with accommodations. Tracy City is very small but so cute and the bakery is a must go.

Few experiences match staying in this micro home. A 10 minute drive into town will take you out of this secluded, woodland retreat, but nothing will make you want to leave!
WHOO! how cute and unique this Cedar Cabin be? Well let me tell you: she is a 500 square foot micro home (not including the porches). She has a loft that holds a queen sized bed and a view. She has a kitchen with sink, small electric burner, large-mini fridge, and electric coffee pot. The kitchen is also stocked with bowls, plates, silverware, glasses, pots, pans and coffee mugs. The bathroom has a sink, shower, toilet, mirror and hot water. The living room has tables, chairs, window seat, heater, AC and ceiling fan. What else could you want?! Don't be so greedy ;)
May I recommend: Ivywild Restaurant for haute cuisine (10 minute drive) Shenanigans for a proper beer and turkey melt (10 minute drive) Mountain Goat Trail for all your outdoor bicyclin' and walkin' needs (10 minute drive) Fiery Gizzard Trail for a little out of the way hike and dip in cold cold waterfall pool needs (20 minute drive) Monteagle will give you all your CVS's, Subway's and Pizzahut fixens... (15 minute drive)
  • Such a unique and peaceful little cabin. Loved the design of it and especially sitting on the back porch. Great for a cozy and quiet retreat while visiting Sewanee. I hadn't been expecting the stereo system and loved being able to play music on it during my stay. The fresh fruit was a thoughtful extra touch. It was easy to find and very clean.

    Lacey2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Well, it's a good place to experience wildlife if you don't have a car cuz there's no internet and Wifi and in forest. It's ok if you only stay there for 1or 2 nights. But definitely can't stay there for 10 nights. We booked 10 nights but we left after the first night.

  • We loved our stay in the cute tiny cabin! Thanks so much Austin!

    Ava2016-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. The place was cute, quiet, and private, but close enough to town that it didn't take too long to find dinner, groceries, or parks to go explore. We will definitely be back!

    Jenn2017-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent spot! We loved it. Private, quite, near enough to town. All details were taken care of. Yes, I would return next time we are in the area.

  • Lovely cedar house, secluded yet close to Sewanee. Clean and comfortable. I look forward to my next stay! Heartily recommend!

  • Austin's little cabin is just darling. It's in a quiet spot in a classic tennessee hardwood forest not far from Monteagle. It looks like a place where you might glimpse fairies. The cabin is small but beautifully detailed and has everything you could need including fresh fruit and a beer. You can tell it was lovingly constructed by an artist which it was. The photos might imply that you sleep on the little window seat but there is a queen size bed in the cozy loft. Great place for a single or a pair of lovers. I played my electric guitar loudly knowing there was no one near to bother. Eat dinner at Pearls which is fine dining or you can go to Shenanigans which is the Sewanee student's dive with good pizza and veggie food. Bravo Austin!

    Bob2015-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I visited the Cedar Cabin for her birthday and our stay was magnificent. We loved every moment of it. The quaint little cabin is off into the woods and surrounded by trees which makes it incredibly private. We loved waking up in the mornings and reading on the porch, looking out into the woods. It was extremely clean and comfortable. You can definitely tell the owner put a lot of work into it. If you are looking for a romantic getaway or just a place to write and read, this is the perfect place. We even drove into Chattanooga as it wasn't too far away but looking back we wished we had just stayed there the entire time. You will love it! I promise!

Our place is close to the Fiery Gizzard State Park, Stone Door State Park and Grundy Lakes State Park, art and culture, restaurants and dining. You’ll love the views from every window of the cabin. 2 bedrooms with a full bathroom surround an open living space with views of the lake. The kitchen has been upgraded with all the extra's. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with children too).
The cabin is located overlooking Grundy Lakes State Park. The view from the deck is fantastic. The cabin includes a large deck, patio with built in firepit and a grill. WiFi is free and cable TV is available.
This property and cabin has a history that is very unique. It began in 1946 as a summer camp for girls and boys. They came from many different states every summer. Many have returned as adults to see the renovations and are very happy at what we have done so far. In the 1980's the camp was owned by a gentleman that had a glass blowing factory in the main building. We currently have the glass pieces that he left behind shown there and it is for sell. He also collected crystals and memorabilia. This is also in the same building and available for purchase.
  • This place is perfect for a weekend getaway. The house is a great blend of old and new. Modern touches with classic rustic style. Property is very unique situated in the middle of an old children's camp. 5 min. Walk to Grundy lakes. Our favorite part was sitting on the back deck and watching the sun rise through the trees over coffee. Great place to stay for couples who like the outdoors but with modern comforts at night.

    Jesse2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is beautifully decorated and cozy! We enjoyed walking around the property, which used to be a kid's camp.

    Judy2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the place. Rustic and secluded with modern amenities. Cynthia and Charles were great hosts, immediately responsive to all questions. They actually seemed to care that we enjoyed ourselves. Isolated yet very close to the small town. Truly the best of both worlds. Oh and btw I caught a 5lb Catfish in the lake. Bob

  • This lovely property in Tracy City is everything you are looking for in order to enjoy nature and some peace and quiet! This cabin sits on 60 acres, overlooks the lake and leaves much to explore. It is near several beautiful hiking destinations. The hosts are wonderful and have provided all the amenities you could ever think of needing.

  • Can not say enough great things about camp mountain lake and the Kildgore's! Clean, updated cabin yet still feels rustic with the gorgeous wood floors and ginormous windows bringing the outdoors in. Mr and Mrs kildgore were so helpful and generous allowing us to extend our stay while we escaped the hurricane. Mr kildgore encouraged us to snoop around the old Boy/girl Scout cabins and each one was full of so much history. Be sure to take any tips or suggestions they give you during your stay!! Fried bologna sandwiches from flurys, deli sandwich from mountain goat, dessert from the Dutch bakery. We hiked the falls creek fall as well as the property everyday with our pups. Can't wait to go back and see how they develop each of the old cabins.

  • I spent two nights in the apartment. It was so nicely decorated, there were so many little touches the made us feel so welcome. We were happy to see fresh fruit, fruit juice and a lot of other great foods available. They have thought of everything that you might have forgotten. We met both Patrick and his mother. Super sweet people that go out of their way to help you. They even helped carry in our luggage! There are beautiful gardens that I wish I would have had time to explore. Patrick even gave us a a piece of art he painted. I would highly recommend staying there!!!

    Cindi2017-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick & Mary Ann greeted me as soon as I arrived with a warm welcoming tour. The property is more than beautiful and accommodations were very comfortable and perfectly maintained. I quickly became comfortable and relaxed and the worst part of my stay was saying goodbye!

    Nancy2016-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick and his mother were the perfect host/hostess. I received a warm welcome, was shown where to park, and given an immediate opportunity to get familiar with their property. This Air BnB is situated in a park-like, tranquil setting. Both individuals were delightful to talk to, interesting, creative and helpful with tips on where to eat and things to do. The accommodations are within driving distance of things I wanted to see and do: Tim Fords Lake Park (great hikes), Sewanee and on a bit further to more hiking in South Cumberland State Park. The hosts were so generous and I left with a beautiful painting by Patrick and fresh veggies picked that morning. I give them, as people, a 10 out of 10. The room was exactly as described and the kitchen...wow...you could cook anything in there. Overly generously stocked with snacks and drinks. I give the room a 9 out of 10 due to a musty odor (this is a basement apartment and does have that particular basement smell). However, I need to reiterate that the apartment was SPOTLESSLY clean. Completely sparkling and sanitary (carpet is dates with some stains but clean). Overall, a great value particularly if you stay mid-week.

    Kris2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick was home when I arrived and made things very easy. The space is a full 1bd apartment with kitchen and a separate entrance. Everything with this stay was easy, clean, comfortable and a great value. Would stay again.

    Daniel2016-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick and Mary Ann's basement apartment was the perfect place for my family and I to stay for our weekend in Winchester. It is spotlessly clean and is appointed with everything you need! Patrick and his mother were so thoughtful - from meeting us when we arrived, to helping unload the car, bringing me some food one night at dinner, and sending us off with artwork and fresh tomatoes and potatoes from the garden. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay.

    Adam & Rachel 2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We picked this offering since it was in the middle of some beautiful bicycling country. The accommodations were perfect for us, the hosts welcoming and Patrick even gave us one of his paintings! How often does that happen? We were pleasantly surprised that the refrigerator was stocked with provisions, probably could have arrived with no food whatsoever and been fine (we had brought our own, assuming the kitchen would be bare.) Comfortable bed, beautiful peaceful setting all added up to a relaxing place to stay! We're already planning our next trip there.

    Jerry2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • While on a road trip through several states we decided to stay in Winchester to drive to Lynchburg the next day. Immediately upon instant booking this place, Patrick kept in good contact until we arrived. His mom was so kind to greet us when we arrived, even at 10pm. We were provided flashlights to help find our way, although it's pretty well lit area (Christmas lights). The scenery is gorgeous, the basement cottage was quaint and relaxing. We didn't get to use the outdoor patio or heater, but it looks very welcoming. Place was perfect! Full kitchen with plenty of food to help with any meal. Plenty of board games and books provided. Bed was comfortable and the temperature of room was perfect! The restroom was also full of anything you could have forgotten to pack. Mary Ann was so sweet she left her business card on our windshield with a special note wishing us well on our honeymoon and marriage.

    Zoila2016-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Ann and Patrick made us feel very welcomed and the basement apartment was very well-appointed and clean. My only regrets are that our stay was so short and we had unlucky weather that prevented me from seeing the gardens.

Stay in a Sewanee original. Built in 1872, we are in the heart of the campus of the University of the South. The Green Family Estate was across the street. We want your stay to be comfortable and convenient. Join us for a piece of history.
This 1872 home was built to house guests to the Mountain. We have restored and remodeled to bring it back into service. The Green Room has a queen sized bed with 100% cotton linens, down and down-alternative pillows, Euro pillows for reading or working in bed, and a comfy reading chair.
We are in the heart of the University of the South core campus. You can walk to everything Sewanee.
  • Stupendous. Stellar. Simply Amazing Stay! Susan is an extraordinary host. She makes you feel right at home. And her proximity to Sewanee: the University of the South cannot be beat!

  • We arrived very late in the day and Susan made us feel very welcome. We found her home to be very "Rustic and Charming"! ;-) We sat with Susan and two other guests Julia and Fritz and enjoyed conversation on the porch of her 1800's home before going out to a local spot for dinner.

  • Very close to Sewanee main campus, the internet works very well. Susan is a very nice host!!

  • We came to Sewanee in April which was the most amazing season to go. Lush green in the forest, birds singing everywhere, and Susan made our stay great. We felt at home, drank wine on the terrace at night, cooked together and had great conversations. It was so nice, we decided to stay another two nights. I'd highly recommend staying here if you're in the area.

    Fritz2016-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Susan's house was gorgeous. The bedroom was big and the bed itself was a dream. The house is in a neighborhood that rests within the local university so there's walking paths and green spaces all around as well as some great architecture nearby. Above and beyond was Susan herself, I arrived late and the two of us fell into a conversation that seemed fitting of two old friends after some time apart. She was gracious and an absolute pleasure to spend time with.

    Francesco2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay at Sewanee. Susan was a fantastic host. We look forward to staying there again.

    Joey2016-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Susan's lovely, rambling post-civil war era home was originally designed to be a Bed and Breakfast. It now comfortably serves that purpose. The room we stayed in had plenty of room, was conveniently located next to the bathroom, offered a comfortable queen size bed, and was beautifully decorated. Susan is a gracious and welcoming host - readily available to answer questions or offer a little Sewanee history. Sewanee is a quaint little community and one that I look forward to spending more time in.

    Gina2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Susan was very hospitable! We enjoyed staying in her home. She made us feel at ease and she is very knowledgeable about the area of Sewanee. We enjoyed the breakfast of biscuits, coffee, and jam in the morning when we left. The house was clean and tidy and possessed character.

The cottage has two bedrooms, with one queen and two twin beds, plus another room with a pullout couch so it can sleep up to 6 guests. Two full bathrooms and kitchen as well. Guests will have access to entire house and 13-acre wooded property. Stand-alone garage next to cottage is off limits. Homes along the bluff are set apart and separated by large wooded tracts.
  • The house was great! Very tidy and surprisingly well stocked with necessities. We spent a quite relaxing time here and Margy was great to work with. We'll definitely be staying here again.

  • This little cabin in the woods was perfect! It was very clean, tastefully decorated, and we all slept wonderfully. We were close enough to shops, restaurants and hiking but we're also able to enjoy being off the grid in our delightful cabin. The view was perfect to gaze out while we sipped our coffee in the morning. The deck is very large and comfortable. We would definitely go back!

The kitchen was well-stocked with supplies. The house was incredibly clean. The view was fantastic. We woke up and had breakfast on a deck that overlooked the clouds in the valley. Our space is in a quiet and relaxing area surrounded by hills and woods. The house is close to great views, parks, restaurants and dining. There are also miles of biking and hiking trails and hundreds of caving locations in our area. It is less than an hour to amusement parks, a water park, an aquarium, theaters and more. The fishing and boating in our area is outstanding! We are less than one hour to Chattanooga's attractions and two hours from Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry .
This was a small cabin that we modified at time of purchase. It was purchased for the use of our children and grandchildren when they visit from out of state. We have just opened it to non-family member use and hope you will be as comfortable there as we have tried to make it for our family. We are currently not set up for children under 12 years old. Many of the cabinets were handcrafted by Dennis.
Our area is mostly owned by pioneer families that have lived here for generations. The area is safe for you and your family and people in this area are always ready to assist their neighbors. Ours is a nice rural area to live a country lifestyle.
  • I was the first guest to have the pleasure of staying at Kathleen and Dennis' cabin! I had a friend join me also, as there were three bedrooms available. The neighborhood was pretty much in the middle of nowhere, so I had no cell reception while I was there (and I'm not complaining). Kathleen and Dennis were so very kind and had plenty of suggestions for things to do and places to go when we asked. I couldn't have asked for better hosts! The cabin itself was small and cozy. My bed was comfortable and there was plenty of room to hang my clothes in the closet. My friend said the bed in the back room was also comfortable! Overall, we had a wonderful stay. I couldn't complain about a thing!

  • This is a wonderful place to stay. It is peaceful and relaxing yet you can get into town to eat if you want. We also visited Ruby Falls and it wasn't that far away either. We appreciated the little extras that were provided. We also enjoyed sitting around the fire pit roasting marshmallows and hearing the night sounds and the creek. We would definitely stay here again!

    Rebecca2017-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic time at Kathleen and Dennis's cabin! The sound of the creek running behind the cabin was soothing and the scenery was breathtaking. The cabin was very clean and comfortable and Kathleen was a wonderful host, making sure we had everything we needed right down to the comfort of Max (my boxer dog). We enjoyed long walks seeing wild turkeys and deer. We would recommend their cabin for anyone wanting to enjoy the peace and quite of no phones or internet and the beauty of God's creation.

  • As advertised, very cute cabin in the country. If you want to get away and off the grid this a great option. It has all the things you need in the kitchen and rest of the house. My fiancee gets cold very easily however the heating worked great and we even had to turn it down since it did so well. Overall great experience and would surely recommend it.

    Luke2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect get-away spot. Kathleen came over the moment I arrived to welcome us and Dennis came over the next day to make sure everything was OK. The cabin was clean. Well maintained. It's in a location where you cannot get cell reception, so it's the perfect place to escape from the world, yet it's close enough to restaurants and shopping. We would definitely recommend this to anyone trying to get away from it all for a few days.

  • It sure did rain hard, but we very much enjoyed our stay anyway! The puzzles and games provided kept us entertained, the bed was comfy, and the shower was excellent as well. Kathleen welcomed us warmly and filled us in on everything we needed to know. We would definitely recommend a stay in this lovely, rustic cabin!

    Rustic Country Cabin
    29 reviews
3 bedroom, 2 bath home on a finished acre lot. Updated kitchen and bathrooms. Sunroom and attached deck overlook a spectacular view of the Pelham Valley below. 10-15 minutes from Sewanee and just 1 mile from I-24 in the heart of Monteagle.
The house is has just a few neighbors. It's totally relaxing and "away from it all", yet it's just a mile from restaurants, grocery, drug store, etc. Only 15 minutes from Sewanee's campus, 45 minutes from Chattanooga and 85 miles to Nashville.
It's the last house on the road and has an unfettered view of the valley below.
  • Well this house is all about the views - the breathtaking vista from the bluff is beautiful at any time of day but especially at sunset. The house itself is spacious and in a quiet area. The bed was comfortable and there are fans and good a/c to keep you cool. The area was ideal for visiting the Jack Daniels Visitor Centre (which is excellent, I must say), Lynchburg Town, Rutledge Falls and Chattanooga city. Communication with the host was excellent.

  • Oh, now is my chance to boast about Nancy's place. The sweeping views brought rest to body and soul. Of course the beauty is inspiring. We were very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Rachel2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • A few Sewanee friends and I stayed at Nancy's Monteagle home that's right on the bluff. The space and the view were actually even more beautiful than we were expecting. The house was clean and the kitchen was great to making meals and sitting on the screened in porch overlooking the valley. It was truly a wonderful experience and we hope to stay there again!

    Zoe2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy's view unbelievable! The pictures do not do it justice. The house is located in a great area with a huge front yard.

  • She was very nice.

  • Host sent a well described map of directions and how to get into the house. Instructions were perfect. House was as described. A great place to relax. The sunset view in June was absolutely spectacular. It was just like the picture.

    Jeremy2015-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time and enjoyed the sunroom and fireplace

    Abigail2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • This house was absolutely spectacular! Four friends and I stayed there to attend Bonnaroo while still maintaining the comforts of home. Although the there were 5 of us and only 4 beds, the couches and chairs were comfortable enough for all of us to be well rested each day. Nancy was very helpful and available when needed but not overbearing in the least. I cannot recommend this house or host enough! An unforgettable experience; I'm already trying to convince my friends to do it again next year!

Built in 1872, the deRosset House is named for the family who owned it for the first 120 years. The house is on the campus of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. It has been renovated over the past eighteen years. We offer comfortable private rooms by the night or whole house rentals for large groups. We pride ourselves on comfort, in fact, one friend calls this "the napping house". Five private rooms share two full baths on the second floor of this informal home. There are two additional half baths on the first floor. The 4200 sqft. home has a comfortable living room, separate dining room and library, an eat-in kitchen with large island, a comfy coffee nook, study, 5 bedrooms, and 4 bathrooms. The first floor is handicapped accessible with wide doorways and an accessible powder room. The house easily accommodates a large family or a gathering of friends while maintaining privacy and comfort. While the house is vintage, the amenities are not! We offer satellite television and wireless internet along with land line phone service for those whose cell phones may not function in the mountains, The deRosset House is .4 miles from All Saints' Chapel, one block from the School of Theology campus, one mile from the Memorial Cross, an easy stroll to the village of Sewanee, and the wonderful local restaurants, galleries, post office and bank. We are walking distance to everything Sewanee! The deRosset House is one of Sewanee's original homes built soon after the Civil War. It is the largest "whole house rental" on the Domain.
We know most of our neighbors, our street is one of the main walking routes in this beautiful small town, so we see those neighbors! We are one mile from the Memorial Cross and view of the valley, 4-5 blocks from the University Chapel, and easy walk to the Village.
  • Susan's home is perfectly situated in the center of Sewanee. The wonderful character of the home reflects the labor she and her husband have put into it. Susan is a delightful host who made us feel very welcome.

  • This is a great home for a large family. We had a group of 10 in town for a football weekend and it couldn't have been better. Our son and several of his friends were able to come and go many times throughout the weekend.

    david2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • An extremely quaint house on a gorgeous campus. We didn't get to meet Susan as she was out of town but was greeted by her husband, Greg. He was very sweet and incredibly patient with our two dogs that were travelling with us. We stayed in a lovely cosy room at the back of the house and since we were the only guests then, we had the bathroom all to ourselves. Loved the quiet neighbourhood, loved the greenery. Overall, it was a great stay while attending the Bonnaroo festival!

  • This house was ideal for our group of alum to catch up from different states for our friend's wedding! Susan was a great host!

  • Very comfortable, peaceful location and perfect home for a large group.

    Sandie2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • We hope another time to meet our hostess, who forewarned us she would be out of town during our stay. She left the name of a caretaker who lives behind the house. The bed was quite comfy, water nice and hot, house very convenient to the university and prettied up with Christmas decorations.

    Christine2013-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for parents weekend with two other families. This home is a true Sewanee experience. The house is one of the oldest on campus. There is a huge porch out front for people to gather and you can walk anywhere on campus from the home and you are very close to the trail that leads to The Cross. The home is pet friendly. Susan allowed us to bring our dog so my daughter who attends Sewanee could have some snuggle time with her furry sibling. This is a charming, funky house with large gathering spaces should you need them. The bedrooms and full baths are all upstairs which is typical for historic Tennessee homes. This is something to consider should stairs be an issue for any reason. The bath/showers are classic soaking tub style which adds to the charm of the home. Susan is friendly and responsive host and we were free to stay a little while on Sunday to finish our visit with friends and our daughter. This is a great place for Sewanee families to experience the culture of The Domain.
