“Safeway will have everything you need, and if you have time we recommend stopping on your way in from the airport. Of course it may feel like the last thing you want to do after your flight. But if you are going to do a full grocery trip to stock the kitchen, this is probably your best bet. And as silly as this may sound, the one thing we pack with us from the mainland is bagels and English muffins. Our kids go through their fair share of them in a weeks time, and for some reason bread products on the island seem to be very, very expensive. About 8x what we pay.”

“ This fabulous cash only eatery is usually filled with locals. If you are not looking for it, you will probably will miss it. Located in a small shopping center on Lower Honoapiilani Rd, this small eatery is one of the best hidden gems on the island. Okazuya serves primary local dishes, served with the classic side of rice and mac salad. Their Mahi Mahi Lemon Caper Sautee is to die for! Also, try their famous Chicken Katsu or Korean Style Chicken B-B-Q. Take a break from all the fancy restaurants on Maui, and see where the locals eat!
