Seafood Restaurant
“This is a FISH restaurant. If you don't like fish don't bother with this restaurant. The view is wonderful, the building is beautiful, the food is ONO (the best) but it is pricey. Most locals reserve this for celebrations. Reservations required. Save room for the Black Pearl.”

“Great seafood at reasonable prices in a simple and unpretentious atmosphere. ”

“Monkeypod is a lively restaurant with terrific food, a large selection of craft beers, a renowned mai tai, and great service. The place is usually packed at dinner time, is loud, and is a better spot for a happy gathering of family or friends than a romantic dinner. The menu is varied and contains “modern twists” on traditional dishes. Food is primarily locally-sourced. It seems that any time I talk to someone who has also vacationed in the Kihei/Wailea area, they ask me if we ate at Monkeypod. It seems to be the “it” restaurant in the area. Even though it can be really crowded at dinner we have enjoyed our time there. We often go for an early or late lunch and avoid the crowd. ”

“5 Palms is the Restaurant located right on the grounds of the Mana Kai. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and also have a sushi bar. Great covered deck that almost always has seating. Their Happy Hour food and drink specials are probably the best value on the island. ”

Café
“This "hole in the wall" has some of the best breakfast and lunches on the island (IMHO)! You have to stand in line, order, then get served outside. They have large portions and super nice servers. If you get here past 8AM, you'll have a wait, but it's worth it! Say hello to Barry the owner! Our favorites are the omlettes and Banana Mac pancakes with Coconut syrup and a hot cup of freshly brewed island coffee!”

“This amazing French Bistro is very close by, on Lower Kula Road, next to the Ace Hardware store. They are a cash-only restaurant which is open every day except Monday from 8 am - 2 pm. Their pastries are to-die for, so get there early before the selection disappears! Perfect for breakfast / brunch / lunch any day of the week (except Monday).”

“ If you ask any local on Maui where the very best place to get Malasada’s would be, they would tell you T Komoda Store and Bakery. If you aren’t familiar with Malasadas, they are Hawaii’s form of a doughnut- but better! Malasada’s are a Portuguese doughnut but without the hole. They can be filled with a variety of fillings including haupia (coconut), guava, chocolate and more. T Komoda Store and Bakery is located up country in historic Makawao Town and on any given morning you will find the line out the door of hungry customers eager to purchase their famous, warm Malasadas. A trip to T Komoda Store and Bakery is a trip worth taking.”
