The Marshall House Inn was built in 1903 and designed by Richard Sharpe Smith, the supervising architect of the Biltmore Estate. Perched above downtown Marshall, the newly renovated Inn provides a distinctly nostalgic feel with a contemporary edge and offers an ideal location from which to explore Asheville, Hot Springs and Western NC. Picturesque Marshall is steps away featuring cafes, coffee shop, music, yoga, galleries, and more. Hiking, Biking, Skiing, rafting and other activities are nearby
The Marshall House Inn is a unique mansion built as a private residence in 1903 and listed on the national register of historic places. Designed by the supervising architect of the Biltmore Estate, Richard Sharp Smith, the house is built in the english vernacular style being covered in Roughcast or pebbledash. The house was converted into a 'Tourist Home' in the 1920s and has been welcoming guests to Marshall since. Renovations have started in 2016 with the goal of updating the inn by infusing it with a 21st century aesthetic while still honoring the rich history of the house. Once fully renovated the Inn will feature 4 rooms which could be rented individually or as a group for family or business groups.
Nestled between 2 mountain ridges and the French Broad river, the town of Marshall is a unique blend of visual artists, musicians and life long residents. Located just 20 miles from Asheville and Hot Springs it's an excellent base camp to use to explore all that western North Carolina has to offer from the outdoors to the eclectic city of Asheville. The Marshall House Inn is perched on a hillside above downtown Marshall allowing guests to easily walk to Marshall's many shops, galleries, restaurants, music venues and the river. Railfans will enjoy seeing and hearing the Norfolk Southern Railroad trains as they travel periodically through town on the Asheville to Knoxville mainline. Located nearby is an incredible array of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, white water rafting, tubing, fishing, caving and more. The nearby town of Hot Springs is located on the Appalachian Trail and includes a mineral springs where tubs with hot mineral spring water can be rented for a relaxing soak.
  • One can sense the Hosts focus on design and consideration of the guests. Put that together with comfort and a great view and it's a very nice experience.

  • My guest and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Inn. Kerstin & John provided thoughtful recommendations for activities and restaurants in town. The room was immaculate with it's modern/retro furnishings. Everything from the vintage tea cups to the adorable paper napkins had so much thought put into it, I loved it all! It was walkable distance to restaurants and hangouts. We look forward to another stay soon!

  • Marvelous property. Very nicely appointed. We'll most definitely be back!

  • The Marshall House inn was just as advertised! Marshall is a precious little town preserved in history. We enjoyed the Thursday night jam session at Zuma. The house was beautiful and the restoration work remarkable! We will return!

  • This is a gem! Think historic charm meets industrial age meets modern day. There is interest in every corner. I was in for my daughter's wedding and only wish I had more time to explore the house and get to know the owner. You can tell John is a craftsman and a "doer". Kerstin is lovely and an amazing decorator. They put a lot thought into the space and conveniences for their guest. Also, Marshall is a charming town and has much more to offer than you might think if you just drive through. The artful charm of Asheville is overflowing into Marshall, yet you can slow down and enjoy your time, bypassing the crowd and the traffic.

  • Will absolutely stay again. Such a cool house and they were so kind!

  • Kerstin and John were lovely hosts and very willing to tell us all the places to go in Marshall. The Inn itself was absolutely beautiful and really maintained the historic charm but with a tasteful modern touch. I would highly recommend staying at the Marshall Inn and we will certainly be back!

  • This was the Airbnb experience I've ever had! Best home, best view, best hosts, best furry friends, best everything!! John and Kerstin have made this such a beautiful haven--preserving the amazing history of the home while adding simple, modern, luxurious touches that will blow you away. In their renovation of the Marshall House they didn't cut any corners and put in place all the modern amenities you will need to be comfortable. My room not only had its own brand new mounted heater, but also a little space heater for people like me who like to be toasty. The linens on the bed were the highest quality. The view from the porch is unbelievable. The house was immaculately clean but also had such a cozy, welcoming vibe with blankets and comfy chairs in all the right places. Each corner and window was outfitted for enjoyment-- especially the beautiful original stone fireplace downstairs, where Micah (the sweet pup) will snuggle up to your feet on cue! I LOVE details and man does Kerstin know how to do details! Not to mention her incredible art hanging around the house. And John was such a delight to talk to and an amazing host. He knew all about the history of Marshall and of the home. I plan on visiting them every year if I can!

  • We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Marshall Inn! Kerstin and John were great hosts and provided everything we needed and more! We especially enjoyed the front porch of the home with its beautiful view! The coffee and breakfast nook upstairs was also one of the highlights of the Inn! Wish we could have stayed longer! Highly recommend!

    Jamie2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Kerstin and John have done a beautiful job renovating this wonderful building and tastefully decorating it. It sits up on the hill overlooking Marshall, and is an easy walk to Main Street. Next time we'll set aside more time to explore dining and musical offerings. Perfectly situated for anyone on their way to Hot Springs! Extraordinary hospitality and welcoming warmth from our hosts made this a special visit. Highly recommend their inn.

  • This was such a charming place to stay! I only spent two nights but wish I could have stayed longer. The home is gorgeous, with beautiful brand new renovations. If you like good design you'll enjoy staying here:). There were fresh flowers by my bed ( which was truly one of my favorite beds I've ever slept on). Fantastic view over downtown and the French Broad River with pretty lights of the bridge at night. Breakfast was adorable. They have a little nook for guests with a variety of local baked goods, yogurt and juice and coffee etc. Kerstin and John were really nice and friendly. Loved their friendly dog and cat too. I visited the area for a baking workshop nearby, and while Asheville is only around a half hour drive, I really enjoyed my quiet mountain retreat in Marshall.

  • We had a most excellent stay in Marshall NC. John and Kersten had a lovely and comfortable abode. We certainly recommend them!! We especially loved the front porch

    Mary2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We were delighted as we pulled up to a gorgeous historic home overlooking the adorable and quaint town of Marshall and were immediately impressed! We were greeted by John, as we got out of our vehicle, and he made us feel so welcome! Kerstin came out and showed us around. She showed us where coffee and tea are available and snacks and then our room. Our room was amazing! Tastefully furnished in their unique eclectic style with a view of downtown Marshall and the French Broad river. We slept comfortably and had a great time. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

    Robert2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a five-star B&B. John made us feel so comfortable (kindest person you will ever meet). Kerstin was out of town so we didn't meet her, but the other reviews suggest she is also a great host. The house is crazy cool: huge porch overlooking the river with a cozy sofa, rocking chairs, and one of those netted hammock chairs. The inside is excellently decorated in a vintage eclectic style -- from the old stone fireplace to the roto-metal bed frame and faded blue rug, we found ourselves taking pictures of every nook and cranny to capture ideas for decorating our own house! While there are good places in Marshall and Weaverville to eat, Asheville is 25 minutes away and the drive is breathtaking. Can't go wrong here.

    Joshua2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home and wonderful hosts! Looking forward to returning!

    Elizabeth2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • This historic home has been lovingly and beautifully updated and was an ideal spot for my 4-day trip to Marshall. Gorgeous decor, fabulous room, comfy bed, lovely view of the river, wonderful breakfast. And oh my God the porch! Really gave me a great feel for Marshall, NC.

Feel big in this small space! The yurt sits in the middle of 100 acres with the comforts of a kitchen, toilet, clawfoot tub, soft towels & sheets and a woodstove. Close to Asheville's breweries, music, and restaurants, as well as area hiking/rafting, yet a private getaway.
A yurt is a round structure traditionally used by Asian nomadic peoples, meant to be taken down and moved. This one, however, stays right where it is. Updated with amenities for comfort, we intend for your stay in this yurt to be peaceful and relaxing. The kitchen includes a hot plate, toaster oven, fridge, sink, dishes, pots and pans, and utensils. There is a charcoal grill (charcoal provided), indoor toilet and a claw-foot tub, relaxing seating inside and outside, as well as cozy sleeping for 4. The yurt is situated in the middle of a private 100 acre farm, with no other house for 360 degrees of countryside viewing. We are a small working farm, so you can see the gardens, horses and goats as you explore. There is a double bed fitted with soft organic bedding, as well as a futon mattress in a loft to sleep 1 or a cozy 2 people under the clear dome of the yurt which looks up at the stars.
A very short drive away is the very cute and hip town of Marshall, with artist studios on an island in the river, a coffee shop, 2 bars and 2 restaurants, a grocery store, and more. About 35 minutes away is the thriving city of Asheville. And the surrounding area of Western North Carolina is a perfect setting for all sorts of outdoor activities--hiking, biking, rafting, etc.
  • Anna is a wonderful host! She was very welcoming to my husband and I, we were looking for a nice, relaxing get away. We drove in amidst storms, when we finally arrived, she had the yurt waiting with warm fire crackling in the wood stove. There was charming decor and thoughtful touches throughout the yurt. I knew that staying in the yurt would be fun, but the way that she has it set up was simply delightful. That night we were so cozy, and still got the benefit of hearing the soothing rain droplets outside as we fell asleep. Things to mention: The tub/shower is luxurious and great for a long soaking bath! The top of the yurt, has a tiny loft about the size of the futon up there. It's so nice to star gaze on a clear night. We had a fantastic time. Thanks Anna!

    mizar2014-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the yurt for 5 days and they were completely dreamy! Anna has done an amazing job at making sure the yurt is stocked with anything you may need during your stay (q-tips, towels, coffee, books, extra pillows... and so on). The kitchen has a full sized fridge, toaster oven, hot plate, small pot + pan and utensils. We had most of our meals in the yurt and we were completely fine with using everything there. There's also a grill on the porch, which makes for a lovely al fresco dinner. The magical yurt is located in Anna's farm, which is truly a special place! Although Anna is just down the road, you still have complete privacy in the yurt. There's plenty of land to explore in the farm, but Asheville is about a 30-minute drive from it so there are tons of things to do. We had days where we just stayed at the farm, petting goats, reading and napping in the loft, and they were just as memorable as our hiking trips off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Anna also has the sweetest dogs that, if you're lucky, will hang out with you! I highly recommend booking the yurt. Our stay there was one of the best vacations we'd had, and we completely fell in love with Marshall & Asheville! Thanks, Anna!! :)

    Taissa2015-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Anna has done everything to make us feel welcome, from the first contact over email to the breakfast food and bottle of wine waiting for us in the sweet little kitchen. We simply hung out a lot around the yurt, played guitar, read books, went for little hikes through the pasture and did yoga on the deck. We got some visitors; the dogs and the horses! We grilled fresh fish we brought and shiitakes Anna offered us from her logs, then made a bonfire and ate S'mores. Our daughters (4 and 6) loved sleeping in the loft and we gazed at the stars till they fell asleep... the big dipper was so visible! The next day we visited the goats on our way to the pond, where we paddled around in the canoe and splashed around in the water. Anna's yurt is our family's new favorite place to stay!

    Natascha2015-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • everything about the yurt was 430 times better once we stepped foot onto the property. (photos don't do this beautiful place justice) two of my friends and i were passing through on a road trip & stayed here for two nights. two nights was definitely not long enough! from the sweetest bits of character, to the immense hospitality put into making this place run, Anna & Marco were the best hosts i've come across. they genuinely care so much about providing a safe & comfortable, memorable experience for everyone passing through. we could not believe how cozy the space was, how gorgeous the views from property were, or just how much fun we'd have. the yurt made us feel at home & at peace. it was very clean, and supplied everything we needed & WAY more. we are currently planning our next trip back this summer. you definitely dont want to miss out on this experience! (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). thank you! we will never forget this stay :)

    abigail2017-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Marco's space was amazing. They were great hosts and the yurt was even better in person. If you are looking for a romantic spot or just to get away from it all look no further. The yurt is fully stocked with everything you will need. We highly recommended.

    David2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Anna was extremely welcoming, mind and helpful in our trip. Her yurt was more than we could have imagined and provided the perfect mountain escape that we were looking for. It was extremely cozy but surprisingly spacious and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone considering it. The views around her property were amazing and the property itself was in close proximity to several great attractions and beautiful towns. Thank you anna for providing us with such a great location for our vacation.

    Sam2015-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt was absolutely wonderful! I would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a unique place to stay. Anna is so welcoming and personable. She made sure I had everything I might need or want. I most definitely would stay there again!

    Leslie2015-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing! On our stay we had a lot or rain but still had a wonderful time on the property and the surrounding area. Anna's property is a slice of heaven! One of my favorite things was waking up everyday to the sun coming in and the sounds of sheep talking to each other. Hands down Anna is one the best hosts we've ever had on a visit. She thinks of all the little things that make your stay comfortable and is super sweet. We explored Marshall which is one of the hippest and most random places to find in the mountains. I was pleasantly surprised to find Zuma which serves great food and Counter Culture coffee. We will definitely be coming back soon!

Modern, passive solar home in a stunning natural setting! A quick 25 minutes to downtown Asheville and 8 minutes to charming downtown Marshall. The house is a clean and minimal modern design, with warm wood accents and bathed in natural light. The main wall in the open living room/kitchen area is 4 sliding glass doors - an entire wall of glass overlooking the back deck and thick green plant life. The home is relaxing and rejuvenating, with close proximity to all that Asheville has to offer!
Clean and minimal architecture with amazing hiking and amenities literally right out the front door. Located behind the yoga retreat center Prama Institute (and the Prama Wellness Center) with easy walking access to both. There are many hiking trails to explore right in the neighborhood, including a 10-minute hike to a 150ft granite cliff overhang overlooking the French Broad River. You don't even have to drive anywhere to have an amazing hike! The neighborhood also includes organic farms, friendly dogs and unbelievable views of the stars at night. I've lived here for 7 years, and I still get awed by this beautiful, magical place.

  • Our stay at Denise's place was perfect! Denise was the most wonderful and accommodating host! The patio outside the apt has the most beautiful mountain views...very relaxing and enjoyable stay. We would love to stay at Denise's again on our next trip to Asheville!

    Debbie2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Denise is just the best. Her place is as advertised and it was such a special few days. My husband, baby, and I stayed for four wonderful nights and we could not have asked for a better location nor a more gracious host. She has thought of everything and the space is lovely and had everything we needed. If someone is looking for a peaceful space close to Asheville, this is it!!! We watched the birds, saw the clouds roll over the mountains, looked at the fireflies in the valley, went to feed the horses right by the house, sipped wine, and enjoyed the sights. Denise is so thoughtful and the little touches made all the difference.

    Linsey2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first AirBnB and I am not sure that the bar Denise set could be beaten. Staying with Denise was the best experience we ever had while traveling. She is the most accommodating host and her hospitality is second to none. Our cozy downstairs space (which is very spacious) had everything we could think of. There was juice, water, tea, coffee, cereal, you name it. Every little detail has been thought through. One morning while walking out the door, there was topperware left with sweets from a local bakery. Later in the day, I got a message saying "Just baked fresh chocolate chip cookies. Left them by your door." The view out side the room was more incredible than we could have imagined. Drinking coffee early in the morning from her patio makes you forget about every problem in the world. Denise is very familiar with the area and had fantastic recommendations. We visited about 4 places she recommended and each one was better than the last. My fiancé and I have never been so relaxed and care free as we were at Denise's. She is always a short text away and is always willing to make sure your stay is most comfortable. Her home is a short drive to Downtown Asheville and Weaverville (has a very cozy downtown). We cannot thank her enough for everything she's done and making our weekend there so special and we cannot wait to come back and visit. If you stay with Denise, I promise you will have the most relaxing and excellent time!!

    Jamie2016-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great experience! Loved the location and the views were fabulous! The room was full of interest and the bed and furnishings were so comfortable. Denise made us feel like special family members and she spoiled us with delicious treats. She was so easy to communicate with. We feel like we found a special friend. Thank you, Denise, for a special time that we will never forget! ❤️

    Kathy2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Of all the airbnb places we have stayed, this has been the best, beyond our expectations. Every part of her place had a special touch from the blankets to keep us warm to the bar area where she had special beers, coffee, tea for us to the incredible comfortable bed. The place was very clean and made us feel right at home. Despite Denise being an excellent photographer, pictures don't do justice to how spectacular the views are of the mountains, sunrise, sunset and moon. Finally, Denise herself is a sweet and warm human being right from the moment we met her to the time we left. She filled out experience with comfort foods, special treats and such great hospitality. We would love to come back and stay here again. We will also definitely recommend this place to our friends. This place is a perfect distance to get away from the town and truly be in the mountains. Thank you so much Denise once again!

    Vicki2016-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Denise was the best host we've ever had! The place was beautiful! We will certainly stay again.

    John2016-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • If one is looking for a very private and quiet getaway this is the place. The horses grazing in the pasture nearby are awesome not to mention the 2 Deer we encountered. Remember your Camera, it's a must. We will definitely return. A gorgeous place.

    donna2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Denise was the sweetest most perfect host!! She thought of everything we could ever need. The space is beyond expectation and she made us feel like family. This location is close to the Biltmore which was the focus of our stay here. The mountain views are stunning and pictures do not do it justice. We even went down to a piece of the river and waded in for some amazing pictures. Later on in the evening we watched fireflies right outside our private patio. We would recommend staying with Denise if you want an amazing host, and nice quiet stay in a beautiful location nestled in the mountains.

Peaceful, private, clean, relaxing artist suite surrounded by trees, close to Asheville. Hardwood floors, large deck, gas grill...
Come and stay at the Artist Suite in beautiful Weaverville. We are located just 16 miles north from downtown Asheville, 6 miles from downtown Weaverville and 20 miles south of Wolf Laurel Mountain resort. This is a perfect location for those seeking the activities and beauty that the Asheville area has to offer. The Artist Suite is surrounded by trees, secluded and relaxing. This is a separate apartment on the lower level of the main house with its own entrance off the back deck. The main house is lived in, so there may be some light noise heard at times. The space offers large windows with great natural light. The layout is that of a studio apartment or mother-in-law suite with a separate bedroom/studio and a comfortable queen bed, supplied with fresh linens and an allergen free comforter and pillows. This is still a semi functional artist work space so there are easels and artwork displayed. Also available is an inflatable queen mattress with bedding, which will accommodate 2 additional guests. The living room area is open with a sectional couch and two chairs. A large 50" flat screen TV is mounted on the opposite wall offering Dish TV and Wifi. Board games and puzzles are available. Overlooking the lawn and wooded area, is a large, covered porch on which to relax! Comfortable porch furniture and a gas grill add to this inviting and private entrance. The kitchenette is equipped with a microwave, sink, cabinets- fully stocked with dishes , coffee maker/keurig, small fridge, 2 induction burners and flat ware. This suite is very clean, updated and spacious.
All roads are paved and easy to access to our neighborhood. We are the last house at the end in a cul-de-sac so it is very peaceful with no through traffic.
  • We regularly use AirBNB, and Heather and Brendan's place is one of the reasons why we continue to that. Reasons we loved it: The pictures accurately show the place. (In all honesty, it is better in person.) The price was fair. The neighborhood was nice and safe. The hosts add extra touches like coffee, danishes, board games. Everything was EXCEPTIONALLY clean (which is a good thing for my neat-freak self :-) It is a short 20 minute drive to Asheville. Check in/out was seamless.

    Kelly 2016-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Super sweet place & family. They actually met me as i arrived. Nice chat to become acquainted. In a neighborhood, yet the gigantic porch is facing/within the trees.... very calming place for coffee in the AM:

  • My daughter and I chose Artist's Studio for a girls getaway and as a base to explore the surrounding area. It was nice to stay in the serene location and still be minutes from Asheville. Heather and Brendan have included everything to make your stay most comfortable, with the added bonus of some yummy snacks and Keurig coffees. We hope to be back!

    Marie2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Not only are Heather and Brendan gracious hosts, they've appointed the "Artist Studio" with an asthetic that is as appealing as it is comfortable. You'll find yourself wanting to come back again even if you don't need to. Great travelers oasis!

    James2017-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • The artist studio was absolutely beautiful, and had everything we could've needed for our stay in Weaverville. We were road tripping to the Florida Keys and knew we wanted to stay in Asheville for a few days, but when looking through we couldn't find a place we liked more than the studio. It is only about a 20 min drive to Asheville and is completely doable. Heather and Brendan had everything prepared for us, some Weaverville food suggestions (we went to Twisted Laurel which was amazing), extra blankets and towels, games and dvds for the tv, even a keurig with different coffees and creamers! We look forward to coming back!

    Natalie2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a place that feels like home, this is it! Great location that offers an out of the city stay. The details put into making you feel comfortable are so thoughtful. We loved it!

    Mallory2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Heather and Brendan were wonderful hosts! Their Artist Studio 211 was the perfect location for our Girls Weekend. Not only did their studio offer seclusion, but it was only 15 minutes from downtown Asheville allowing for both relaxing nights on the large porch and easy access to downtown bars and restaurants. The studio was clean and extremely well appointed with a comfortable bed, couch, and air mattress. We highly recommend staying here!

    Claire2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Heather and Brendan were such great hosts. The Artist's Studio is beautifully appointed, clean, and secluded. It is close to Asheville, NC, trails, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. • This property is perfect for those who can't stomach real camping and need a little more glamorous setting. The tipi is located in a shaded grove that is completely private and yet close to the city of Marshall and Asheville. We loved the spacious room of the tipi. There was plenty of room for 6 people and all of our stuff. It was convenient having a bathroom just down the stairs. The blue mist of the morning was peaceful with our coffee. We cannot wait to return!! Communication with the owner is quick and thorough. Even when we had to change plans and I couldn't figure out the airbnb app...she was kind and courteous overly accommodating. Stay here. Play here. You'll love it here.

  • Nice and secluded but only minutes from town. A little difficult to get to the teepee if you are older or have walking difficulties but otherwise there is not an issue. We had a great time

    Francine2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • This little place is absolutely awesome!!!!!!!

    Amanda 2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very accessible but still enough off the beaten path. Check in was easy and the tipi was clean and in order. Even though it was summer it was both inside and out. What a great place to relax and enjoy peace and quiet.

    John2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • For us, a family of 5 with kids aged 12, 10, and 4, this was a magical place. We wish we could spend a month there every summer. The area, the mountain, the seclusion, the forest, the tipi...everything was pretty close to perfect.

    Orestes2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • This Tipi was EXACTLY what we wanted! Secluded glamping at it's very finest!!!! My better half and I seriously loved this place and so did our dogs.. we will be back! The pictures do not do it justice.

    Rebecca2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very unique and beautiful! The host was very responsive and helpful. So much detail and thought put into everything there. There is heat, a/c and mini kitchen. Very spacious. We loved the bathroom! Two things I think should be mentioned are the fact that there is some mold and mildew inside the tipi itself. And the walk from the parking up to the tipi is a bit difficult. Adding more steps or a handrail would make it more safe and easy. Otherwise it's a great place to stay.

    Theresa2017-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the treetop tipi. It was very clean and well built. It was nice to sit by the fire pit at night and roast marshmallows. I recommend you bring a fan or two in the summer because it gets quite hot. We used a fan to blow cool air in and we slept comfortably all night. I highly recommend staying here. It was a fun adventure! We will definitely go back!

A comfy top-of-the-house lounge with everything on floor level.
This 3rd story space is strictly floor level and boasts the biggest bed in the entire house . Woven clothes from Bolivia, Costa Rica and the Philippines hang on the walls. Other imports include items and art from Puerto Rico, Vietnam, Ecuador, Australia and India. These things have all been collected by our family and friends on their travels. Originally, this space was inaccessible. We opened it up to create a cozy, private bedroom for our daughter. Recently, it's been fun to think of it as a multi-cultural dreamspace. The Loft shares the kitchen and bathrooms if someone is renting The Green Room. If I get a rental in the Green Room during your stay, I will let you know asap. This house was in decline when we bought it 27 years ago. We have resurrected the splendor of the structure; reclaiming original trim wood and flooring that was fashioned with virgin timber from this region in the Blue Ridge mountains. Tom has done most of the renovation himself, incorporating his artistic flair and unusual floor plan designs. Simply walk out the door, down the hill and experience Marshall, a truly unique mountain town. If you enjoy great coffee, food, live music, beer and wine, old-timey dry goods and hardware stores, beautiful local art , awesome junk, seasonal weekly farmer's market, artist's studios and interesting special events- it's just a 5 minute walk! Look forward to meeting you!
Quiet, safe and friendly neighborhood-cannot be beat! The road to the house is a traditional steep, winding and narrow mountain street and has been likened to Old World Europe. GPS will lead you astray so please follow directions on your reservation. It is best to arrive before dark if possible.
  • Super cozy and interesting loft to stay in! I loved my stay here. Victoria's house has such positive energy and I was glad she let me stay at her house on short notice. She replied to my messages extremely fast and her place was even better than the pictures!

    Dorca2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time here in Victoria's house. The place is very close to town, quiet, and has a lot of character. It has all the amenities you need to eat in, and the rooms are ver nice. Victoria was very pleasant, and very willing to accommodate. I highly recommend staying here.

    Calvin2015-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Victoria and Tom are kind, generous, flower souls. They were gracious with their time, their home, and their conversations. The house exceeded my expectations by miles. It was spotless, cozy, and made us feel right at home. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit and we recommend it to anyone looking for a laid back time.

    Jean2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Victoria's cool and artistic loft which was very comfortable and - having use of the kitchen and bathrooms, balcony and porch - very spacious. She and Tom were both gracious and helpful in giving us tips and advice on how to spend our short time there in Marshall/Asheville. There was plenty to do in the area and we filled our time with hiking the A.T., white water rafting and - with their son Zane (thanks!) - contra dancing, which was so much fun! Thanks for making our stay so great! We would gladly stay at their mountain home again if we return to the area.

    Michelle2014-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful house--full of art, little treasures, ceramics and fanciful tiles, and comfy beds. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. So many options for resting, chatting, or eating together. The porch swing was my favorite spot to drink morning coffee. The kitchen is well stocked with pans and utensils. Victoria provided blueberries and fresh eggs and responded quickly by text to any questions I had. The location is walking distance from downtown Marshall where you can find a market, a coffeehouse, and shops. Can't wait to come back!

    Mary2015-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Loft is so cozy, and Victoria is just wonderful! We arrived to a kitchen stocked with coffee, farm-fresh eggs, and fruit, and everything we could possibly need for our stay. Victoria was so kind and helpful. We loved her beautiful, restored home, and have already recommended it to several friends interested in visiting the area. This was our first Airbnb experience, and it couldn't have possibly gone better!

    Briana2013-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Victoria's home is amazing - this cool, old house has tons of character and is a really quirky, fun place to stay on vacation. My sister and I stayed in the colorful loft -- a very relaxing space. I highly recommend a visit to Marshall, and a stay at Victoria's.

    Natalie2015-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful visit! We both felt right at home in this beautiful house. Comfortable and safe area perfect for our mom and daughter getaway. Victoria and Tom are great people! She is a beautiful person and you immediately feel comfortable around her. Tom has written a couple books that are at the house. I was able to read one short story and it was great. When we come back I will read more. We devoured a bag of organic blueberries from their farm that were left n the freezer. They were delicious! We will be back soon. We highly recommend a stay at their home! The bed in the loft is like sleeping on a cloud. We will be sending friends to stay here too. And the little town of Marshall was just adorable. Thank you again Victoria and Tom for sharing your home

  • My boyfriend and I spent two nights at Keri's place. She left us fresh eggs from her chickens, and was extremely welcoming. We also asked her to prepare one of her crockpot dishes for us on our first night there. It worked out perfectly and was delicious. She gave us a tour of her unbelievable garden, and we met her goats, dogs, and some of her chickens. Keri gave us good suggestions for food and local activities to do. She was easy to keep in touch with, and very easy going. The apartment was perfect, beautiful and clean. The pictures are just what it looks like. I enjoyed the stained glass in the bathroom and above the bed. I would recommend this to other Airbnb users. It was perfect for a peaceful and relaxing few days away from home.

    Georgia2015-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Secluded retreat for someone looking for peace and some time away from the crowds. Keri was very polite and offered good recommendations for activities nearby. The apartment is very cozy and has all the things you need, including washer/dryer and a fully equipped kitchen.

  • Great experience! Awesome view, and a very friendly host. Great to get away for a weekend.

    William2016-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The farmstead is in a great location. It's close enough to reach town easily, but still felt like a pristine and private spot. We loved being able to visit with goats, chickens and dogs, and Keri was a very personable host. We definitely plan on returning, as Marshall, NC (and this farm) was a great home away from home. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the experience.

    kara2016-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Yummy casserole, toasty fire, magical mountains and a beautiful sunset... Thank you!

    Linda2015-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay!! The apartment is so clean and beautiful, very quiet and comfortable. I loved meeting all the creatures!!

    Jesse2017-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Keri made us feel beyond welcome. She showed us around and introduced us to the animals and even gave us homemade goat caramels which were delicious! We learned a lot while chatting with her about how she raises and cares for the animals. She was always responsive when we asked questions and gave us all the advice we needed to hike, grocery shop, and just have a great weekend. Beyond being a great host and tour guide, Keri is a genuinely kind person who I am glad I was able to get to know and learn from. If you are looking for a weekend surrounded by beautiful scenery, friendly hosts and animals, and great hiking and nature activities, this is the place for you. Keri and her husband were great hosts and are now friends.

    William2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great experience! The guest house was wonderfully private and whimsical and clean. It also had the best-stocked pantry we've come across, and treats in the fridge, which we sincerely appreciated after a long drive. The hosts were gracious, despite our late arrival. The bed was comfortable, and I wish we would have had the luxury of staying here longer.

It is about 1/4 mile hike to your tent cabin located about thirty minutes outside of Asheville, NC in beautiful Madison County. The cabin has a gas grill, cooler, coffee percolator, and dishes. Please come enjoy beautiful Western North Carolina with us!
There is no electricity in our cabins but there is solar lighting, a cooler , a propane grill, and a coffee percolator. The bathhouse does have hot water powered by propane gas. There is a short hike to the cabin, so bring shoes for hiking that you don't mind getting dirty. Sounds you could hear: train, rooster, dogs.
We love our small mountain town located thirty minutes from Asheville, NC. Marshall's downtown includes the French Broad River with Blannahassatt Island and Marshall HIgh Studio's thriving artist community. Downtown is also undergoing a small but exciting revitalization with new restaurants and even a brewery coming soon! Among local attractions are Hot Springs Spa, French Broad Rafting and Ziplining, and Sandy Bottom Trail Rides
  • Stuart and Kenny were very communicative and helped me get setup in the cozy tent cabin for my short stay. The unique tent cabin in the woods was an excellent get-away.

    Gregory2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first Airbnb experience, and it was completely amazing! The facilities were well maintained, the property is completely beautiful! You have all the sounds of nature, but the comfort of a regular bed! The stars at night, are indescribable, you have got to see it for yourself. Stuart has been the best host, she made sure upon arrival we had clear directions, clean towels, and ice for the cooler. The bath house was probably one of the neatest structures! It squashes all stigmas of a "bath house". It is nicer than my bathroom in my house. If you are considering staying in a Tent Cabin. Just. Do. It. You will be so happy with your choice!

    Blakelee2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, would come again!

    Steven2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I really enjoyed our stay in cabin 2. It was a very peaceful and quiet experience. The pictures and description were very accurate. Lots of wildlife around. A deer woke us up around 3 am. Sounded like it was about to walk in the tent. If you a nature lover this is a neat place to stay in the Marshall and Hot Springs area.

    Brian2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Camping this way can easily spoil you. The tent is just as it is pictured, super cute and comfortable. Stuart is the perfect host, anticipating our needs before arrival, down to texting the directions since GPS can be spotty in the mountains. The bathhouse is not far from the tent , very clean with all toiletries that you may need. The grill area was equipped with pots, etc for cooking. Bring yourself, your food and the need to relax/disconnect and you'll be just fine. Can't wait to return!

    Joycelyn2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place was a fantastic find! Everything was set up for us when we got there and the accommodations were wonderful. The cabin tent was comfortable but still allowed us to be close to nature. And the bathhouse was rustic and only a short easy walk away. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a nice peaceful getaway!

    Gabby2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is AMAZING! Stuart, the hostess, had everything prepared so nicely for our stay! The tent-cabin was adorable and immaculate! The bathhouse was extremely clean and even more, had ALL of the toiletries we had forgotten to pack ourselves!!! My husband and I had such a relaxing stay; we'd highly recommend this place to anyone and EVERYONE! It's the perfect balance of nature and comfort!!!

Come away from your busy life to the quiet of the Holler. You have a separate, private dwelling for your stay, across the driveway from the main house. The Hotel in the Holler is at the end of a nearly mile-long dirt/gravel driveway. A two wheel drive vehicle will make it, and the the key to success is, drive SLOWLY!! Your vacation begins as you turn onto the driveway...slow down, watch for the rocks cairns leading you up to the Holler, drive as though you were walking your car...Welcome!
The Hotel in the Holler looks rustic but it has many amenities: bathroom with toilet and shower, hot water, electricity, double bed (a port-a-crib is available), linens, goose down comforter, ceiling fan, kitchenette, small refrigerator, toaster oven, coffee/tea/hot water maker, heat, and fresh mountain spring water. We can even have seasonal critters in the Hotel...like ladybugs (even though we do vacuum them up as we see them). We are part of an International Park up here in the Holler...called the Stars!! Come Astronomers! On a clear night the Milky Way stretches over the Holler and various heavenly landmarks can be viewed with your eyes, binoculars, or telescope. We are within a 30-40 minute drive of many fun mountain attractions: hiking, birding, rafting, fishing, snow skiing or boarding, zip-line fun, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the cool little town of Marshall with some excellent eateries, Mars Hill and eateries there also, Burnsville, Barnardsville, and all the multitude of things to do, see, and places to eat, in Asheville.
  • We had a great stay with Kathleen! The place was so clean and perfect amount of space. And Kathleen was so easy to communicate with!

    Emily2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Heed the warning on the drive though...take your time and you will be fine, it's worth it! The hotel is lovely, and the owners are wonderful people. Loved my stay in the Holler!

    Tammi2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The House in the Hollar is a great place to stay. It's outside of the city, away from traffic and noise, but close enough to anything you want to do. Kathleen gave very detailed directions to her place so we had no trouble getting there and we had a nice relaxing time and would stay there again.

    Lois2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • The property is idyllic and the cabin is incredibly comfortable. I loved my stay.

    Ciara2017-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen is a gracious, generous host, and the space is a beautiful getaway. My boyfriend and I stayed here one night between campsites on a long camping trip throughout the Southeast. This was the perfect way to enjoy the amenities of a home while still reveling in the beauty of the mountains. The cabin itself is very comfortable! Plus, it's all only about thirty minutes away from Asheville! I'd definitely recommend checking this space out!

    Joshua2017-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I had a wonderful experience staying with Kathleen at the holler. The space is well equipped and clean–theres a wood paneled walkway, mud room, bedroom/kitchen, and a bathroom. The driveway was initially intimidating but quickly grew on us. You get maybe a mile of dirt road fit with views of a creek, horses, llamas, stone cairns, and turkeys. At night theres good star gazing. Its fairly secluded but not too far from downtown Asheville–just far enough to get a nice drive through the area. Very competitive price. Both Kathleen and her husband were friendly and accommodating.

    Scott2017-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen is so nice and will go out of her way to make sure you are happy! Everything was neat and clean when we got there. She provides a small portable stove-top for cooking along with a pot which we found very useful. All in all a great trip and definitely worth the money!

    Peter2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the holler was an absolute joy. Truthfully, I don't think the photos do it justice! The surrounding landscape is gorgeous and the house is adorable and roomier than I thought prior to arriving. Kathleen provides very detailed and incredibly helpful directions for reaching the house and is a communicative and thoughtful host. As for the driveway (as mentioned in other reviews), we navigated it after a massive thunderstorm in a rental Ford Fusion. We went slowly and followed Kathleen's (spot-on) advice and everything worked out fine. It's something to be prepared for, but should not deter anyone from reserving. After all, the long, winding driveway means that once you reach the house, you get to enjoy near silence and relaxation! I can't recommend the holler enough. If you're headed to the Asheville area, this is where you want to be!

  • Me and my niece came to mountains spend weekend together. I have found Tent Cabin near Asheville , hosted by Stuart and Kenny, on airbnb at last minute before our departure, as we planned to go for Sandy Bottom Horse rides next day, and I was looking for one night stay somewhere camping... I have contacted Stuart asking lot of questions about place . She communicated very quickly back, send some more pictures of tents and place, gave very good direction, promised they will get fire pit ready for us for evening ... and I was sold. When we arrived, Stuart and Kenny was waiting for us, as promised. Welcomed us with warm hearts and showed us property. It is beautiful !!! Very close to small town Marshall, but still secluded and private. That's what we were looking for , quiet place surrounded by nature. They prepared the fire pit for us at top of hill, above the tent cabin, to enjoy evening around fire, with amazing view on surrounding mountains and night sky, full of stars and moon shining down on us. Firewood provided, chairs , fire starter everything we needed. And natural sounds of all night living creatures in woods was like a concerto cherry on cake ... And luxury we had !!!! Tent is very cozy - sleep like a baby in bed ,but still felt like camping with fresh air coming in tent from mountains ... had solar lights, stylish inside lighted cooler :D Comfy Comfy Comfy !!! And bathhouse was just another luxury !!! Close by to tent , beautifully built, warm water, shower, flush toilet ( with saving water buttons ) ....I would certainly decide to come back , instead of choosing any hotel, this has everything you can imagine you need. Comfort, natural environment, privacy, wonderful craftsmanship in buildings, close by to all fun you can have in area ( Asheville,Blue Ridge Parkway,Hot Springs... mountain trails , horseback rides, rafting etc ) I give it 10 stars !!! And Stuart and Kenny are wonderful hosts! Thank you a lot for having us as guests , we will have great memories and if ever back in area - we'll come see you certainly again!!

  • We had such a marvelous stay at Stuart and Kenny's incredible tent cabins. They served as the perfect spot for our nearby whitewater rafting adventures. The cabins are perfectly situated for privacy. I enjoyed the views from the cleared knoll near the firepit. They've been so thoughtful in equipping the cabuns with everything you need. There's even shampoo and soap provided in the bathhouse. Our stay here was perfect and we definitely plan to return. Pack lightly because it's a hilly walk between the cabins and the parking area but once you are settled in you will find the peaceful serenity well worth the effort.

    JoEllen2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and relaxing stay. Owners are very nice, open and welcoming. Had a fantastic stay. The town of Marshall is tiny but awesome and gorgeous. Easy drive to surrounding areas.

  • What a lovely little place in the mountains! The tent was perfect for that camping experience when you lack the time for setting up a full campsite. Every little detail was thoughtfully taken care of. Amazing hosts whom were kind and helpful. Minutes from downtown Marshall which is worth a visit. We had a fabulous stay! Definitely looking forward to returning again.

  • Very clean and beautiful tent and bath house. It was nice to have ice delivered and dry firewood ready. This is the way to camp!

  • This may be one of our best trips! We stayed in Tent #2. Our hosts had lights on parts of the path, gave perfect direction, had fresh ice in the cooler, and an impressive outhouse with hot water. If you're looking for the luxury of a hotel room and the isolation of a campground, this makes the perfect experience. The bedding was better than my set at home. It was incredibly peaceful.

    Ashley2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • I booked two nights in tent cabin #1 for my honeymoon. We were more than pleased with our stay and wished we would have booked it longer! When we arrived, Stuart greeted us and helped us transport our luggage to the cabin which was about a quarter mile down the driveway and over a hill. The location was perfect - on the side of the mountain and just a short drive down to the beautiful town of Marshall, NC. There we enjoyed visiting the little shops, natural foods store and the local bar & grill. The entire experience here was great. The hosts, Stuart and Kenny both checked on us via text to make sure we were doing well, which was very kind. The cabin was perfectly secluded, clean and unique. I would recommend to anyone with a sense of adventure.

Just 30 minutes northwest of the beautiful city of Asheville, 10 minutes from the historical riverside town of Marshall, 15 minutes from Hot Springs, this cozy and rustic yome offers a quiet mountain "glamping" getaway. With a propane grill, fire pit and deck, composting outhouse, spring water and cooler (ice provided) it's the perfect place to unwind from the stressors of the day and renew in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Sweet Sicily Farms is a homestead in the early works. Part of what was once a satellite dairy farm for the Biltmore Estate, the remaining outbuildings are home to four sweet dairy goats and a large white pyrenees name Sicily. On that note, I should mention that part of being a livestock guardian dog like Sicily means being vocal at night to ward off predators. Some guests may hear her barking at times during the night, but is just her nature and is not cause for alarm. From Red Sky Shelters, makers of the yome! "One step inside a Yome and you’ll feel like you’re in another world. Tall cathedral ceilings give the Yome an open and spacious feeling, while translucent walls bathe you in a magical diffused light. Circular, spiritual, portable living shelter: this is it. From ancient principles to modern technology, our ultra stable triangular support framework combines the best of both yurts and domes. Like a yurt, the sides are nearly vertical, maximizing the usable space within. Inside, the tallest people can stand comfortably, even near the walls. The roof and walls are made of different materials; one of heavy-duty coated fabric to shed rain, the other specially-treated to be breathable, allowing excess moisture to escape. And both are fire, water and mildew-resistant. The dome part of a Yome is based on the same principles pioneered by Buckminster Fuller in his famous Geodesic Dome. No fence-like latticework covers the walls and windows, as in a yurt. And the whole thing is portable, fitting easily into most vehicles and can be set up or taken down by two or three people in a matter of hours.
You will pass over the historic and gorgeous French Broad River on your way to the Yome. Just a few minutes from the yome are opportunities to go on a beautiful guided trail ride on horseback, raft down the 3rd oldest river in the world or take a dip in the hot mineral springs.
  • Kind lady running this spot, took part in building the space herself which is way cool! It's a serene little spot, a little out of asheytown but it was well worth it

  • Our stay was perfect in every way!!! When you open the door and walk in, you feel like you're home! After a 13 hour drive it was just so homey, clean and cozy. Laura was so helpful and communicative! I feel like we're old friends and we never actually met. She really respects your privacy but is available within minutes to answer any questions. She left us a sweet note, fresh fruit, milk condiments, coffee, tea etc. Everything we needed, after arriving and ready to rest. We didnt need to run out and get anything. They have awsome internet, cell service and TV programming. The home is very nicely decorated, the beds are firm and comfortable and I love the 2 couches, plenty of room to sit around with family. DId I mention CLEAN? It was hard to leave! We visit that area often and are already looking forward to returning in July. I will be reccommending her home to anyone I know traveling in that area! Thank you Laura, for your warmth, generosity and attention to detail!

  • the house looks small and older from the outside but you will be surprised when you see the inside! so nicely and cosily done up, and most furniture is very new. plenty of beds. the outdoor patio on back of the house is lovely and the fenced in backyard is perfect if you want to bring Fido along. the fridge already has some food in it and fresh fruit is presented on the kitchen table upon your arrival. very welcoming. the house is very close to quite a busy and fast road, but that also has the advantage that you can easily head off to the grocery store or to lovely Asheville. the area is perfect if you love hiking or water activities. very dog friendly area as well. dogs are allowed in most stores and on the patios of restaurants. great experience!

  • Spent my birthday weekend with my wife and our pup in Laura's cozy place. Everything we need were graciously provided. There are fruits, eggs, sodas, coffee, creamer, breakfast and plenty of water. Even the toiletries are complete. This is a good place to stay after a long walk from downtown or whole day of hiking. Our puppy enjoyed the backyard. The house is just a few miles away most of the tourist spots. Laura is friendly and accommodating host. She even provided plenty of tourist spots flyers/brochures and list of recommendations with detailed description on where to eat or go. We took her advise and had brunch in Sweet Monkey Cafe in Marshall Downtown, just a few minutes away from the house and it was the bomb. We highly recommend Laura's cozy house. We will definitely come back next time.

This tiny home of 460 sq ft is set on the side of a mountain overlooking the French Broad River. Owned by a chef and her husband, the design is industrial but comfortable and artistic.
This brand new home is modern and industrial with art and unusual items at every corner. There's a very comfortable queen size bed in the bedroom and the whole unit is very well appointed. As beautiful as this place is, it's solidly on city water, sewer, and electric. The only way you'll know it's so new is the wood pile out back or maybe a piece of trim that's still left to do.
Marshall is a very fun, creative town with musicians and artists everywhere. The food at Pot Pie and Sweet Monkey will surprise you as well as the art at Flow. It's a warm welcoming community.
  • This space was beautiful and cozy with an excellent view of the mountains and river. It was easy to hole-up and just enjoy cooking and sipping tea, reading and taking in the views. We brought most of our own groceries (as I have dietary issues) but the kitchen was incredibly well stocked. The host's web-manual for the house was incredibly helpful and made us feel like this space was our little home for the weekend. I would love to come back here in the fall when the leaves change.

  • The worst part about this place? I don't live there full time. ;) Great stay, beautiful place and even better than described!

    Carly2016-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house did not disappoint! We fell in love with the view...just gorgeous. It was cozy and comfortable beyond our expectations. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom/shower made you feel like you were in a luxury hotel! Lisa was extremely easy to work with and the town of Marshall and the surrounding sites were the quintessential mountain retreat experience. We will definitely be back :)

    Jill2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a great little piece of Appalachian paradise! You cannot beat the view of the French Broad River valley out of the large windows or full length balcony, complete with Adirondack chairs. The tiny house does not feel so tiny for 2 people, & we were nice & comfortable. The kitchen/living area is spacious & the kitchen is stunning & stocked with cooking supplies. There is also a small washer/dryer which is great for longer stays. The bed is comfy & the shower is insanely awesome. All the decor is really cool & has many Asheville area styled elements. If you love birds, there is wonderful bird watching/listening from the house so bring some binaculars. Location: The quaint town of Marshall is only about half a mile up the road. There is a great coffee shop called Zuma, a delish restaurant called Sweet Monkey & a nice market called Madison Natural Foods (great reasonably priced selection of wine & beer, along with foods). Penland & Sons is a must see & has been run for a few generations by the same family. Within 20-30 minutes, you can be in downtown Asheville. Lots of hiking within 10-30 minutes. Fishing/kayaking within 5 minutes on the French Broad River.

  • Absolutely wonderful time in this tiny home with a big view! My mom and I loved the location...just far enough from Asheville to get away from the noise & "hustle/bustle" but convenient to the cute little town of Marshall. The view of the French Broad River and mountains was outstanding. The house itself, while "tiny", had everything we needed...and more. The furnishings were top notch...couch and bed were very comfortable. Roku TV was easy to use. All in all, a fantastic place and we greatly appreciate Lisa opening up her "tiny house" to us. Highly recommended--and we'll certainly be back!

  • Such a great spot for a getaway! We didn't have the opportunity to fully enjoy the fabulous kitchen, but hope to be back to do so!

  • My wife and I stayed in this cozy tiny home for a weekend and it did not disappoint. The town of Marshall is quiet, and a short drive to Asheville. The home itself was awesome!

  • I rented this wonderful house for my daughter and her family. They did nothing but compliment the whole experience. The house was wonderful !! It was private and seculded and had amazing view of the French Broad river and the mountains. The tiny house itself felt inviting and was the perfect place for a getaway Communication with Lisa was effortless. She was easy to contact and available to address any questions they had. I cant wait to visit myself and I know that my family would love the opportunity to visit again.

The house is located on a quiet, private street. Every house has at least one acre so you have privacy without being isolated. It is actually in a holler with an amazing view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
  • Susan and Heather's place was perfect for us. Simple, quiet, clean. We had a lovely stay!

    Madison2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Susan and Heather's place is easily one of my top 3 Airbnb stays. Peaceful, quite, super clean. The view from the hammock was delightful! I ended up sleeping on the futon next to the front door so I could enjoy the cool mountain air and the sound of nature coming through the screen door. I was lucky enough to have an overnight storm roll through while I was sleeping. The sound of the rain and thunder through the screened door.....absolute bliss!!!

    Nicholas2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place has an amazing view! Really can't top the experience of laying down on a hammock and staring at Smoky Mountain. The place itself is really cozy and really has that cabine vibe to it that we really loved! We had an amazing time staying here and really recommend the place for anyone looking for a getaway! Susan and Heather were very helpful and were great hosts. Thank you for hosting us!

    Luisa2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • We were hurricane Irma evacuees looking to wait out the storm in Asheville. We drove 12 hours with our two kids to get there. We were looking forward to a nice hot shower and some rest. However, when we turned the shower on we immediately noticed a foul smell, which turned out to be well water. We were not expecting the shower to smell as bad as it did. We ended up having to buy gallons of water to use to bathe ourselves with because the smell of the water was just so foul. Other than that the hosts were very kind and the place was very comfortable and clean. The view was also beautiful.

  • I cannot stress how lovely Susan and Heather's place was. The attention to detail and the cleanliness was superb. The mountain views were incredible and amazing to wake up to while stretching out on the big hammock. We even met the neighborhood dogs and they were all so friendly! While leaving, my car wouldn't start and Susan and Heather took the time out of their busy day to help out and get me back on the road. I highly recommend staying here.

Cute, simple cottage-style mobile home on a one-acre farm. Accommodates up to 4 people. Continental breakfast included. Kitchenette; shared bathroom. All the advantages of country life just 15 minutes from Asheville and 8 minutes from Weaverville: see birds, rabbits, turkeys and deer; enjoy great restaurants and breweries nearby. We are in the Blue Ridge mountains of beautiful Western North Carolina, so there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, fishing, whitewater sports, you name it!
Our place is in a quiet, rustic area surrounded by a few neighbors, mostly families. It is on a gravel road, so expect a few bumps along the way. Since it is outside of town limits, the area gets pretty dark at night: perfect for stargazing, but big-city folks may not be used to it. Want to camp but you can't get the whole family to buy in? Pitch your tent by the trees and have mom & dad (or grandma & grandpa!) stay in the cozy room. Best of both worlds! In the kitchenette, you'll have a regular-sized fridge available to store your food, a coffee maker, two-burner stove, basic pots, pans, plates, and flatware. You will also have access to a bathroom with a hot shower and flush toilet.
Quiet, rural setting. Gravel road. Conveniently close to Weaverville (quaint shops & restaurants), Asheville (breweries, restaurants, music scene, Biltmore house) and mostly everywhere in this corner of the Blue Ridge Mountains (hiking, whitewater rafting, waterfalls, horseback riding, ski resorts).
  • This spot is great! The description is spot-on, and if you enjoy camping and being outdoors, you will love this place. Our dogs really enjoyed the large yard, and we enjoyed having a hot shower and comfy bed after spending the day exploring and hiking. We also really enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and firewood that was provided- great way to end the night! The kitchen is well-equipped with a 2-burner electric countertop stove, a toaster oven, and a full-sized fridge. There are also plenty of cooking utensils, and kitchenware for use. We drove into downtown Asheville a couple of times during our stay, and the drive was easy and only took about 15 minutes. Lastly, our hosts, Maria and Michael, were wonderful- they were available if we needed anything, and were very warm and welcoming. We loved everything about our stay, and hope to stay there again the next time we are in the area. We would highly recommended this peaceful and scenic retreat!

    Vanessa2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • My stay with Maria and Michael was wonderful because they were so flexible and great at responding to my questions. I stayed for 2 days with friends who had never been to the South East/ Appalachia and we were able to cover many hikes and explore Asheville. They even left us supplies to make s'mores with the fire pit, which was so kind! Side note: the setup has a queen bed and a queen blowup mattress

If this yurt were in Mongolia, it would belong to a king. Be in the middle of Nature while enjoying a full kitchen, bathroom with shower, climate control and woodstove, plus an outdoor private hot tub. Nestled in the middle of our 20-acre family home, the yurt is surrounded by yards, gardens, ponds, covered decks, and forest—and just 25 minutes to Asheville or the ski slopes.
This modern yurt is based on the Mongolian design used by nomads for thousands of years. A permanent structure with a replaceable fabric skin, the yurt is 30 feet in diameter and has a 15-foot conical ceiling capped by a clear dome. The exposed wooden framework of the walls and ceiling surround you. Tile and hickory floors reflect the natural world. Hanging tapestries and rugs echo the yurt’s nomadic past. A woodstove offers warmth in the winter, letting your gaze dance with the fire. A modern climate system keeps the yurt cool and comfortable in the summer, supplying constant heat in the winter. Inside the yurt, listen to the wind in the treetops as the rain plays a symphony. Frogs and crickets lull you to sleep while you watch the stars and moon through the dome. The kitchen is fully equipped for some nice home cooking, with a full size stove, oven and fridge, and supplied with cooking and baking utensils. It's a place for slow easy menus, (no microwave, k-cups, or automatic ice maker). Come ready to relax and enjoy your meals here, whether you choose to eat inside or out on the deck. The hot tub is always at the ready and is a great way to start—or end—any day. Towels are provided.
Madison County is home to some of the oldest American music known. The Bascom Lamar Lunsford Music Festival honors that heritage every year at Mars Hill University campus. Live music can be found in both Mars Hill and Marshall. The Rural History Museum at MHU is open most days and free to the public. Blannahasset Island, across the river from Marshall, is a peaceful park under shady trees along the French Broad River. Downtown Marshall is where you’ll find Zuma’s, the coolest—and only—coffee shop around. If you are adventurous, visit Hot Springs, where there is always something exciting going on.
  • Ginny and Mark were wonderful hosts. Quick to respond to any messages or questions. As soon as we arrived, they greeted us at the yurt with keys in hand and gave us a quick tour of the place. The yurt was such a wonderful stay. The high ceilings made the place feel very open and well lit. We had everything we needed for cooking, relaxing, and sleeping. The hot tub was a very nice touch after a long day out exploring around the area. We hope to stay again soon!

  • We are now Yurt coverts. Amazing space on a secluded farm in the mountains. We used this as a relaxing home base between hiking around the area. Only stayed two nights but could have easily spent a week here. All the accommodations of a relaxing mountain chalet but with the sounds and surroundings of camping. The hot tub was perfect for two sore hikers at night. Our 2.5yr old yellow lab was able to roam the property and play with the host's Australian shepherd. We had tea and coffee in the morning (provided) and got to watch the organic gardens be tended to. From the front porch we saw chickens, deer, rabbits, and a family of wild turkeys. Great getaway for a couples retreat or a family trying to get closer to nature. Great hosts that can be around or give you your space. We will definitely be back if we are anywhere near Asheville.

    Justin2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was the most adorable and luxurious yurt we could imagine, and the farm was beautiful and so nice to stroll through. The location was perfect, tucked away about 25 minutes from Asheville and all of her culinary delights. Our host, Ginny, was a pleasure to work with and check in was a breeze. We wish we could have stayed longer.

    Jonah2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was simply wonderful! The yurt was beautiful, comfortable and peaceful. Can't wait to come back.

    Jessica2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is beautiful! The landscaping is really well done. The yurt was really cool and unique. It was very cozy and quiet. You can open the windows and hear frogs, birds, and other wildlife. So peaceful. I loved the swimming pond and so did my dogs. The hot tub was great at night. I especially liked the garden where you can pick your own veggies. There is a small town nearby with a few places to eat which was convenient. Ginny and her husband were terrific hosts. She came over as soon as I arrived to make sure everything was ok and to tell me about the grounds and the yurt. We were even offered fresh eggs from the hen house on our first morning. This is a great getaway if you are looking for a quiet, camping-like environment with modern conveniences. I am already planning my trip back! I can't wait!!!

    Jessica2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the Yurt at Floating Leaf Family Farm. Nourishing, inspiring, and profoundly peaceful. Our trip was meant to be part work, part relaxation, and the Yurt supported these needs wonderfully. Our hosts kindly offered a tour of the greenhouse and gardens and we enjoyed picking and fresh fruit and veggies every day. The pond was so fun to swim in. While Asheville was an easy drive and provided some delightful urban exploring, we were always grateful to return to the Yurt, the gardens, and the pond. Ginny and her husband have created a beautiful vision, and as guests, we appreciated every minute.

Our house, set on 5 acres of land, is a gem in the countryside outside of Asheville. We have stunning views of the sunrise and sunset, woods for walking, roads for biking and a cozy house full of peace, laughter and a whole lot of cool art. We are an easy 20 min drive to Downtown Asheville or 10 min into Marshall. Our house includes a huge basement with garage, so motorcyclists and bikers are more than welcome! We know the roads and trails around here and can give you some great insider tips.
The bed is a Full Sized bed in a private room. We have a full closet for you complete with hangers and a dresser for your use. It is quiet where we live and the nights are cool, so you can open the windows to let the breeze blow in and wake up to bird songs. Our driveway is gravel, but flat and no need for a special vehicle. We do have a few neighbors when driving in, so please watch for kids, chickens and deer. I run a rabbitry, so we have friendly Standard Rex Rabbits you are welcome to visit and hold. There are several rope swings on the property for your enjoyment.
Our neighbors are few, but friendly. Most everyone on our drive is related, except us, as it used to be a family farm. We live on a gravel road and it's very safe and extremely quiet. We have trails through our woods where you can search for wild blueberries or flowers or a meadow you can meander through.
  • The drive up here was so scenic that I had to constantly remind myself that I was driving and to stop looking. Yoko was great and showed me where everything was, in the house and out of the house. There are places to walk about and bunnies to interact with. But, there is an epic hammock underneath some trees. This is where I spent most of my time. I fell asleep on the hammock sometime during the evening and while I made my way back to my room, I noticed how clear and bright the stars were. It was beautiful. My host gave me space and I never felt uneasy. The textiles in the bathroom were awesome (seriously, what kind of towel WAS that?). This was a retreat for me and I would have liked to stay longer. So it goes. Thank you!

    Shane2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Yoko's place for a night. She was very welcoming and helpful with suggestions of what to do in town. Had a comfy bed in a peaceful place. Would definitely recommend.

    Steph2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Yoko has basically open her whole house to us. We woke up in the morning hearing the chirping of birds and feeling the fresh breeze from the open window . We also used their kitchen to cook a "fish omelet" for breakfast with the few trouts my boyfriends caught. I wish we had more time to enjoy their place. The one picture used for this listing does not do justice to the beauty of this place. Yoko and her husband are warm, friendly and very welcoming. We had very enjoyable conversations with them. The set up is simple but very comforting. Yoko also has prepared a list of food places, artist studios and attractions in Alexander as well as the nearby towns for us to explore. Following her recommendation (down to the specifics of the best tub for hot spring), we had a soak at the Hot Spring Spa followed by a quick tour of the old town Marshall. The area is so beautiful with endless rolling hills. Everywhere you look is green green green! We may return in the fall for a hike at the Max Patch that we did not get to see this time! Thank you Yoko for everything!

    Angie2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Yoko was incredibly kind- she made us feel right at home from the very beginning. Meeting the rabbits, as well as her father and children, was awesome. She even included us in the family farm breakfast :)

    Courtney2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We feel so lucky to have found Yoko’s place. The property is filled with personal touches of love and care. The flower garden, her bunnies and the view out back was just beautiful. And she is just a wonderful person and gracious hostess. We were very comfortable and would definitely come back.

    Charles2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Yoko is was incredibly kind and a great host. She told us her favorite places to go (food, hiking...) - all of which were great and I get ideas for The house and location is incredible. We would definately stay again on a future teip to Asheville - no doubt about that!

    Nicole2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Yoko and her husband are the nicest people I have come across throughout my travels. Their home was so welcoming, quiet, and clean. If you are looking for an easy, serene, get-away in the countryside of Asheville, with amazing views, wild life, and good people, stay here! And, I was still able to visit down town and hop on the blue ridge parkway in under 30 minutes. Highly recommend this home :)

This rustic barn situated on a mountain top bald sports tremendous views of the blue ridge mountains and the French broad river valley. You will camp inside or outside of the barn whichever you choose. The barn is a great rain protector and shade zone.
This is a really nice peaceful spot with incredible views. You will have 8 acres to yourself with a good distance from the few neighbors. Excellent stargazing awaits. Enjoy a campfire and hike around. It's only 30 mins from Asheville 10 from Marshall and grocery stores and 20 minutes to Hot Springs a wonderful place to soak and explore the Appalachian Trail. There is also excellent hiking in the national forest 15 minutes away as well as river rafting outfitters. Access is off of a paved road park outside the gate then you open the gate to the bald and carry your camp gear just a few hundred feet down the gentle hill.
It's located in a beautiful country setting in the mountains with few neighbors and at the end of a dead end low traffic road.
  • Ryan's barn was wonderful. Very private. The neighbors dogs were so nice! It poured rain while we were out there and the barn kept us dry. Just what you would expect for camping at a barn in the mountains

    Masey2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I, along with a friend, made a last minute/late night decision to head out to the Blue Ridge for some camping. Ryan accepted our late arrival and was quick to communicate. The barn was spacious, and although it could fit tents inside it, we went without. The temperature was perfect for sleeping outdoors!! Ryan provided us with fire wood so we could have a small campfire, which was great! It was fun to stay in a Rustic barn, but the greatest part of all, in my opinion, was the spectacular views surrounding the barn!! We arrived at night when it was dark, so it was an amazing surprise to wake up to mountain views and the gorgeous natural landscape surrounding us!! The pics on the Ad, although beautiful, don't even do it justice!! We definitely recommend "the barn" for a unique, rustic, stay near Asheville! Just be prepared to do without a flushing toilet and shower...

    Leah2017-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Ryan's barn was lovely! It was pretty cold at night as we were here in October but other than that everything was wonderful. The pictures don't do it justice. Ryan was very accommodating and helpful with giving directions and providing us with two large jugs of fresh water. He also provided us with sawdust for the composting toilet. The property is absolutely stunning and the neighbors have the cutest dogs ever. One of the neighbors dogs named Camo was so incredibly sweet to us and became our new best friend during our stay. We even got to spend time with the neighbors horses and fed them grass. If you love nature, animals, and rouging it then this is the place for you! I definitely want to come back in the summer.

    katherine 2015-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great no frills primitive campsite. The view from the top of the hill was excellent. we enjoyed the sunset and the stars were incredible. If you are looking to get away and just enjoy nature for a night this is a good spot. The path was clearly marked to the barn and the grass was neatly trimmed marking the campsite and campfire area. We did experience a little rain so pitching a tent under the barn was very helpful. I would advise bug spray since it is in an open field and some ear plugs for sleeping the bugs were loud and we heard the nieghbors dog a few times . Otherwise we enjoyed our spot! Had a great time!

    whitney2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Secluded spot 30 minutes away from downtown Asheville. If you're looking for a nice safe camp spot this place has all you need. I had a little trouble finding it at first, but that was probably due to me booking it on my way into Asheville and not having adequate time to review all directions. When I called Ryan to inquire about where exactly to go he was very helpful and hospitable. Thanks Ryan! Can recommend and will book again on future trips.

    Colin2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • We were absolutely astounded by the beauty of the scenery (mountains) when we arrived! The site was great and we loved looking at all the spider webs on the plants in the morning. The only thing we wished was that the site to be little be larger. We felt like our tent was pretty close to the fire, but after we adjusted to that, we were fine. We'd recommend that future guests read Ryan's description for finding the place and take a screenshot. Internet connection is spotty as you come down the road.

    Karen2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet little barn that is hidden away and has a great view. Worked perfectly as home base for my friends and I who came to visit Asheville. Kept us dry from the rain. Although finding the barn the first night was difficult, the host gave adequate instructions in the itinerary which helped us find it in the dark. As other folks have mentioned, there are a few dogs that the neighbors own. They're very friendly dogs, and just curious about what you're up to :) I definitely liked staying here better than state owned campsites because there were no gates that closed at a certain time, we could come and go as we pleased. I would definitely recommend this if you're into camping in a barn :)

Our beautiful cabin has two stories with loft sleeping, a wraparound porch and a private balcony off the upstairs bedroom. Sleeps up to five people. One king size bed and a day bed are upstairs. There is a lovely sitting area upstairs with windows for wonderful views all around. Downstairs there is a kitchen full of amenities, stacked washer/dryer, dining table, futon, cozy sitting areas, and a 3/4 bath. Also downstairs are an HDTV and bluray player. Phone service (landline-unlimited US calling) is available as well. Treat yourself to a cozy bath with hot water on the deck outside in the clawfoot tub (may not be available during winter months). Our cabin is in a truly beautiful location on the hillside overlooking the small hollow below. We offer over 60 acres of beautiful, private-access, mountain property for your enjoyment. There are nearly three miles of hiking trails. Enjoy easy and private access from one of two trailheads. Signs are also placed along the different paths to guide your way. If you like hiking in the mountains while listening to birds and other sounds of nature, you will love our trails. These grass bed trails are rustic and maintained monthly to remove any fallen limbs and provide a 5-6 foot wide path for hiking. They range in difficulty from level to steep to moderate. Bring some good hiking shoes, step out into nature and enjoy a beautiful slice of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We take great pride in offering a comfortable, clean, and private experience for our guests. We hope you enjoy your stay at The Cabin!
  • Ready to truly unplug? The cabin is beautiful, peaceful and tranquil. It was perfect for our family of five who enjoyed exploring the wonderfully maintained trails around the cabin. The outdoor bathtub is legit too. We found the cabin a convenient drive into Asheville and nearby attractions. Two things to note... 1. Be ready to unplug. Only Verizon and US Cellular have service out there. There's no internet and no antenna on the TV so bring some DVDs IF you feel the need to turn on the TV (our kids did to unwind from the day). 2. Truck, SUV or van would be recommended vs. a sedan to access the property. Our family minivan did the trick, but I could see it getting a little iffy during the winter months or after heavy rains. It's a beautiful spot to truly experience the western North Carolina mountains!

    Jon2016-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful secluded cabin with well maintained hiking trails! The cabin had everything we needed and more!

    Nelson2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • We'll be back. We didn't have an ounce of cabin fever! We felt like the three little bears in the wilderness. Hiking, reading, and sightseeing in Asheville kept us busy; while outdoor sunbathing and midnight movies had us relaxing. Coffee with the morning birds was delightful. The cabin was adorable and clean ... and, we love the bedroom ceiling.

    CHRISTY2015-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a last minute cancellation on an airbnb reservation and were lucky when we came across this listing. Lisa was quick to respond to our reservation request and all other inquiries that I made. Directions to the cabin were great and the check in procedure easy. What a great find it turned out to be. The cabin is perfectly, inconveniently located. The adventure begins with the drive up the windy, twisty road. When your car won't climb anymore - you're there. We made one attempt at the driveway and quickly realized that wasn't going to happen. Not a problem, we just parked at the bottom of the hiking trail. The cabin was perfect. It was clean and comfortable. It was secluded. It had everything that we needed. If you're looking to get off the grid and reboot yourself instead of your computer, you won't find a better spot than Wild Harmony's Berry Cabin. We tried several restaurants in Marshall, all very good. The local grocery store was better than any we have at home. Asheville is as close or as far as you want it to be. If you want to head to the city, it's about a 45 minute drive, even though it is less than 20 miles. If you want to get away from it all, there is plenty to do and you can pretend Asheville doesn't exist. Highly recommend Berry Cabin. Our stay at the cabin and vacation in the mountains was perfect in every aspect.

    Margaret2015-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was so nice, clean, peaceful and private. we really enjoyed our stay there, I loved the private hiking trails in the property specially berry knob trail. we did rafting which was only 10 minutes away from the cabin, and it was so amazing. I didn't get to meet with the host, but she was always available to answer any questions. in general I had a perfect experience in Lisa's cabin and will definitely go back again.

  • Our stay at Wild Harmony was motivated by our college aged daughter who wanted to see Mom and Dad as well as enjoy some off campus time with her friends from school. This amazing mountain hideaway was a perfect solution for all. We brought the "kids" to Wild Harmony Farm from the airport in Charlotte (about 2 1/2 hours away) and gave them the choice of the Cottage or the Cabin (we got both, this a great situation for families with adult kids, wedding groups and so forth). The four of them immediately chose the Cabin for it's fun layout and rustic/hip charm. Situated on a wooded rise over looking the hollow wherein the Cottage is placed, the Cabin is inconspicuous even in March with the trees just beginning to bud. An excellent place for a romantic getaway or for a small family to get a taste of WNC. Located back in the wooded mountains near Marshall NC the farm is remote yet easily accessible. The drive up to the property may appear daunting but have no fear, we managed the roads and drive up to the house in our Kia Soul even after a long rainy day. As for the young folk they enjoyed the excellent hiking trails that lace the 62 acre property and even Dad was able to make the mile climb to Berry Knob a couple of times. Naturally, the young ladies felt the call of urban life every now and again and took off to Asheville to get in on some craft brew and local entertainment. Asheville is about a thirty minute drive. And while on the topic of craft brew and music, we all enjoyed some bluegrass jams in the little town of Marshall which is only about ten minutes away. Marshall is also home to some fun shops and a large grocery store where we stopped to supply the kitchen and stock up on local beers. The real magic of this place, however, lies in the amazing outdoors which surrounds one on all sides. There are trail rides and raft rentals, literally hundreds of miles of hiking trails and fishing opportunities galore. For example, the Laurel River is thirty minutes away and has an easy meandering trail as well as trout and bass. The girls hiked while Dad stopped here and there to shoot photos and throw lures into the rushing waters. Excellent birding is to be had right on Wild Harmony as it is a sanctuary. Grouse, pileated woodpeckers and towhees are just a few "new birds" that caught the eye of this Kansas native. One drives Little Pine Rd right along the French Broad River to get to Caney Fork so each can bear frequent witness to the beauty of this waterway which geologically speaking is the third oldest river on Earth. Night or day, in or out, country or city, the Cabin at Wild Harmony is a great place from which to enjoy this corner of the universe.

    Kathy2015-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • It was AMAZING! So romantic. Couldn't have had a more perfect time. Full moon, gorgeous clear skies with sheep and a spectacular rare large bird swarming watch. The tub puts us over the moon. I would recommend all hot as it does get colder faster.

    Cougar2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Harmony cabin! The cabin itself was cozy and secluded which made for a cozy stay! Driving through Sandy bottom ranch was fun every time we came and went. We loved seeing the horses, cows and goats speckling the hills on the way to our hidden cabin. Waking up to the sun through the trees made it feel like a private nest away from all the stressors of life. Be sure to drive a few miles into Hot springs to walk along the Broad River and hike lovers leap... More than worth the ride!

The Wild Hare is a vintage camper parked on our 2-acre property. The camper has a privacy fence, parking space, large deck, and private bathhouse.
The WILD HARE is a vintage Aristocrat camper. It's 17 feet long, making it a great tiny home space. We have completely renovated and restored it with rustic wood walls, a copper penny table, modern light fixtures, and an ultimate, gel-plush double bed. Most likely, you and your guest will be dining at one of the many nearby fantastic, Asheville restaurants...but, just in case, we should note that the camper holds a small kitchenette, complete with 3 cooking burners and a propane gas oven. The interior is styled with rustic-modern decor. ~ We've tried to make the camper a tiny home experience and have added solar panels. The WILD HARE runs completely on solar power. ~ The camper steps out onto a large, private deck, complete with comfy chairs, a shade umbrella, and a fire pit....we provide the wood! ~ A few steps off the deck, is the Bath Shack. We've converted a small metal shipping container into a fun, outdoor, dream bathroom. It hosts all the amenties you would desire in a tiny home/glamping site. Inside are a propane-heated shower and antique sink. The shower is large enough to accomodate couples....conserves water, haha. There's a composting toilet too. This toilet is very simple to use---water pours into the bowl with each use and it's a push button flush. Nothing complicated for those that are novice to using free-standing toilets. There's plenty of ventilation and locks for privacy. The Bath Shack also has a barn-door which makes it customizable to your needs. One last unique touch, the whole bathroom has been fitted with clear roofing for those that care to shower under the Western NC stars. ~ There is a privacy fence surrounding the WILD HARE camper and the Bath Shack. Parking is located nearby.~ We have included a notebook full of favorite, local activities (anything from the Biltmore Estate to zip-lining) and restaurants. Asheville, NC is also well-known for being voted as Beer City, USA, so we share info on the best local brewery tours, as well. Our property is located off a rural street. We have sweetly named the WILD HARE in honor of all the wildlife that frequently visit us. At any given time, we've seen a family of deer, turtles, wild turkey, squirrels, birds, and of course, rabbit. So come enjoy the peace and tranquility that our little campsite offers.~ Note: The WILD HARE provides fresh bedding, towels, and some minimal kitchen needs (plates, cups, utensils, and cookware). You bring your weekend get-away bags and toiletries...maybe even your favorite beverage to enjoy!
Our neighborhood is rural. There are several cows in local fields. Our property alone is packed full of visiting natural wildlife. We constantly get visits from wild turkeys, squirrels, birds, a deer family, and, of course, plenty of rabbit.
  • The Wild Hare is super cute! I booked it last minute for a holiday weekend and the hosts were super accommodating. We got in late from traveling and they even left the light on for us! The trailer is beautifully decorated and super cozy. Everything is well thought out and perfect for a couple on a fun adventure or a romantic evening. The bathroom is outdoors, but spacious and clean and very close to the trailer. There is a nice big deck with a fire pit and wonderful woodland noises to enjoy as well as the beautiful starry skies! Good location, but a little far from town if that is your main attraction. It's in a really nice, somewhat rural neighborhood, so it's nice and quiet and feels like camping! Great for the adventurous type.

    Nicole2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a fun airbnb! The trailer was so cute and even the outdoor facilities were decorated so cute. Very clean and cozy. The hosts are very accommodating and had refreshments and Smores for the fire waiting for us. It's about a 20 minute drive to downtown Asheville but Weaverville was such a cute little town too. You must visit Well-bred bakery there! So yummy. I would definitely recommend this cute "tiny home" to others.

  • The Wild Hare proved to be a very cozy (even in cool weather), eco-friendly retreat that I would 100% recommend. It's in great proximity to any Asheville area adventures, plus it's a sweet place to sit around the fire and enjoy a starry evening. Jen and her husband were fantastic hosts who struck a great balance between communication and privacy. Book it!!

  • Wonderful, quaint house. The owner was very accommodating and easy to get a hold of. The house was exactly as described. A no fuss kind of place with a BEAUTIFUL view of the country side, only 20 minutes from Asheville. A friend of hers stayed downstairs and even made us coffee in the morning. I would definitely go here again, it was very relaxing.

This master bedroom has it all. It boasts a Queen sized bed with canopy. The high ceiling, gas fireplace, private deck and sitting area makes it feel more like a small living space than just a bedroom. Easy access to upstairs kitchen and 2 bathrooms.
The Queen Room has cool, misty mint colors that invoke chillax! This upstairs master bedroom sports an optional bed-tent on Queen size memory foam mattress for an exotic flair, has it's own private sitting room and outside deck among the trees. Private room, lockable door. The Green Room shares the kitchen and bathrooms if someone is renting The Loft. If I do get a rental in the loft during your stay, I will let you know asap. This century old house was in decline when we bought it 22 years ago. We have resurrected the splendor of the structure; reclaiming original trim wood and flooring that was fashioned with virgin timber from this region in the Blue Ridge mountains. My husband, Tom, has done most of the renovation himself, incorporating his artistic flair and unusual floor plan designs. We have created private and common spaces in this roomy house. You will have options whether to spend time with other travelers or be on your own. We will most likely meet you during your stay as we come and go as needed and will be available by phone. Simply walk out the door of the house, down the hill and experience Marshall, a truly unique mountain town. If you enjoy great coffee, food, live music, beer and wine, old-timey dry goods and hardware stores, beautiful local art, , awesome junk, seasonal weekly farmer's market, artists studios, natural food store and interesting special events-it's just a 5 minute walk!
It's like a friendly, safe and quiet little village! The road to the house is a traditional steep, winding and narrow mountain street and has been likened to Old World Europe. GPS will lead you astray so please follow directions on your reservation. It is best to arrive before dark if possible.
  • The green room was AMAZING, and I could not have dreamed of a better place to stay in Marshall. It was large, cozy and private. I loved sitting on the patio reading in the sunshine! Victoria was also very welcoming and helpful. She had lots of great suggestions for places to go, such as local hikes and restaurants.

  • Victoria was very fine hostess and made us feel welcome and comfortable. Marshall is a sleepy artsy town that allowed us to get away from it all. We enjoyed day trips into the National Forest.

  • My stay at Victoria's Queen Room was excellent! Victoria, as always, was warm and welcoming in all details. The accommodations are equally excellent. It was so ice to return and looking forward to my next visit!

  • A couple of my friends from Michigan were able to get a great introduction to Marshall - and Asheville- thanks to your very comfortable Green Room. They asked me to convey this to you: "Thanks Victoria for making our stay comfortable and memorable. We especially enjoyed the morning warmth of our own cast iron fireplace. The walk up and down your hill also made for some great views - especially the glowing blue tower of the Marshall Courthouse. Sampling Costa Rican and Jamaican Blue coffees in the morning was also a great treat."

  • This home is beautiful with lots of hospitable details. Every imaginable supply is available with extras. Victoria has food in the freezer and breakfast in the refrigerator. She has taken care of everything. In addition to the wonderful accommodations, Victoria and Tom are gracious hosts. The conversations are always interesting but never intrusive. I look forward to coming back whenever I am in the area to see family.

  • Victoria is a great host. She replied promptly and helped us arrange what we needed. She is also very knowledgeable about the area. She provided us lots of useful information for our need. We enjoyed the stay very much!

  • The location of the house was perfect for our travel to see the Biltmore. The Green Room was really lovely with a stove, sitting room, balcony where we enjoyed the fall colors and antique furniture. The tub was really fun claw foot. Breakfast was delish pot pies made by a local bakery and grown at the farm blueberries - the best we have ever tasted. Thanks for a lovely stay.

  • Victoria made my wife and I feel very welcome. The description on airbnb.com was accurate and the area was very secure and beautiful. Our stay was very peaceful and comforting. We really enjoyed the location. We were a short drive (4 miles I believe) from whitewater rafting/zip line tours, only 10 miles from Asheville, and a short walk from the center of downtown Marshall. The scenery was beautiful as was the home and we would love to return at some point!

We built this house in 1996 because we fell in love with the verdant green hills of what we've come to call Ivy Hills Farm. Tucked alone on a hilltop at the end of a winding gravel driveway, we enjoy incomparable peace and quiet while maintaining easy access to work and play in Asheville (of which I'm a born and raised native). We love our farm because there's nothing like waking up to see the fog rising from the French Broad River, or watching the sun set over long-range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We're excited to share these sights and the warmth of our mountain home with you.
  • Schell is awesome and her place is very comfortable with great amenities. We would like to come back!

    Daniel2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible views, clean, and gorgeous spot! Will be back.

    chris2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Loved it! Quiet, relaxing, stunning views, clean, fantastic communication with hostess. I would love to live up here on exactly this type of pastoral soothing property, many thanks Schell for sharing your gem of a resting space with us.

    Allison2017-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • The views are breathtaking. The place is private and secluded. Absolutely wonderful experience from arrival to departure. Of course, the delicious homemade banana nut bread was just icing on the cake.

    Brandon2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly a gem! The mountain views are beautiful! The accommodations were clean & comfortable. Hope to return again!

    Sonya2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great getaway in the mountains. The rooms were very clean, and Schell's friend Paula was easy to communicate with throughout the stay. The Airbnb is around 20 minutes or so from the heart of Asheville. You'll drive up a long gravel drive to get to the place. Overall, we had a very peaceful stay. Thanks, Schell!

    Kara2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a place to stay outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Asheville, and Schell's home was the perfect spot for us. School was an amazing host, the rooms were comfortable and spotless, the information and recommendations were super helpful, and the views are spectacular. Plus--bonus adorable, friendly dogs to hang out with in our down time. It's definitely a secluded spot, but it was also easy for us to get everywhere we wanted to go. We would definitely stay here again!

    Rebecca2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely one of the best Airbnb experiences! Pete & Schell were great hosts. The accommodations were spacious, well appointed, and a great value. Location, Location, Location!!! Beautiful views from the private deck and private living room. Close to neighboring towns but secluded enough for nice walks on private drive path. Hidden gem!

Welcome to a private getaway filled with beautiful scenery and wildlife all year round. You are only a short distance in any direction from everything that WNC has to offer! 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom apartment with full kitchen, cable and internet. Oh! and yes...a fishing pond!
You will have a fully furnished 2bed, 1bath apartment and kitchen with most amenities needed to make your stay enjoyable. If you need anything additional, please contact host and we will do our best to assist you.
There are very few neighbors so you will feel secluded. However, please respect the neighbors by driving slow in and out of the property and keep an eye out for animals! If you're sneaky enough you will see deer, turkeys and if you're lucky a fox here and there. Of course there are dogs and ducks around every corner. Please reserve your strolls to Hidden Pond property only.
  • From the moment I booked a stay at Hidden Pond, Kelly (our host) made extra effort in communicating with me. My family and I were traveling up from Orlando, FL to stay for a four days because we were meeting my daughter who is on a thruhike on the Appalachian Trail. During our day-long drive up to NC, Kelly took the time to warn us about area forest fires that might affect our travels. It gave me reason to pick up my daughter a day early at 2:30am in Hot Springs, NC. Kelly was accomodating/flexible with our super early arrival at 4:45am the following morning. Staying at Hidden Pond was a great experience. There was plenty of room for our group of 4 adults and our 5yr old. The space had everything we need plus more. The area is scenically beautiful. It is peaceful. There were plenty of animals crossing our paths. The space was beyond our expectations. My 5yr old son really enjoyed having the opportunity to fish in the pond in between our many outings to the mountains. He caught a few big fish and put them back. There is no reason to stay at a hotel when you have an option to stay in a place like this. What makes the experience the best are people/the host(s). Kelly is one of those people. We could feel her sincerity in her words. We could feel she was invested at making our stay at her place a wonderful experience. Success! Thank you Kelly, we look forward to a future visit at Hidden Pond.

  • Beautiful space and location. The unit was large, had AC for hot days and night, a private fishing pond that our kids enjoyed. Close to Asheville but still very secluded and private. Kelley even welcomed us with a bottle of wine! We would stay here again!

    Jackie2016-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very private and quit/cozy at Hidden Pond. Unfortunately, We were to busy to actually enjoy cabin. I met Kelley once on the way out, but she seems very kind and always asked us in text or person about anything that we need during stay. I strongly recommend this place if you planning to visit Asheville.

    Sungjin2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was myy first Airbnb and it was fantastic. Kelley was a gracious host. I highly recommend renting her spare space to enjoy the calm and beautiful environment.

    Paige2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Kelley was the absolute best host! The place was incredibly clean and the pond was so beautiful. Kelley was incredibly helpful and continuously asking if there was anything we needed. The dogs were also the sweetest! I will absolutely come to Hidden Pond again!

    Leslie2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Didn't get to meet Kelley, unfortunately, but her mother was there and very welcoming. The house is AMAZING! The property is absolutely beautiful. Kelley's dog, Nelley, is also absolutely delightful! She has ducks on the property that we fed and they were so adorable. We stayed here to visit Asheville, but we ended up spending far more time at Hidden Pond than anywhere. And we had an amazing time. In the evening, just around dusk, there were SO MANY deer all around the property. Everywhere you looked, you saw more. And we pulled our car, slowly, no more than 20 feet from a doe and two fawns, and they weren't even phased. It was just incredible. What a slice of paradise. We had such a good time and we can not wait to come back.

    Will2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a wonderful stay at Hidden Pond. Kelly was prompt in her response, making sure we had directions and a door code days before the trip. The apartment was immaculate and outfitted with anything you could need during your stay. We definitely appreciated the fluffy towels and soft sheets. The property is beautiful. We liked feeling tucked away from the city yet just a short 15-20 min scenic drive. It was nice ending our day walking around the pond, doing a little fishing, and interacting with all the friendly animals. My daughters really loved Kelly's 2 sweet dogs and all the ducks. Thank you,Kelly, for sharing your beautiful home with us!

    Amanda2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Kelley was awesome. She promptly answered any questions we had and Made several great recommendations for attractions in the area. The apt she furnished was exactly as promised and was extremely clean and very quiet location. It was a nice place to get away from it all and relax.

After a day of exploring Asheville, you'll love the quaint little cottage prepared for you. Studio style living with a shared deck, grill, hammock and herb garden will welcome you home. Enjoy fine dining in Asheville, or cook at home in the full kitchen. Lock yourself away with wifi and all the comforts of home, or launch out for outdoor adventures and sightseeing.
  • Kathy and Debbie were wonderful hosts!! They have a studio style cabin beside their home, which was extremely clean, and had everything you would need for a visit. Their place is located only 20 minutes from downtown Asheville, Addison Farms Winery, The Biltmore, and fun hiking locations. It was close enough to the city, but nice to be in the mountains. We would highly recommend if you are coming to stay in the area.

My place is appr 1/2 hr NW of Asheville with all the restaurants, music, arts, and the outdoor activities western North Carolina offers. Great views, close to white water rafting and the Appalachia Trail. You’ll love my place because of its proximity to Asheville but still a quiet mountain getaway. You will love the outdoor space, the light, the stars at night and the comfy bed. My place is good for couples but could also accommodate a couple of children on the pull out couch but no pets.
  • An amazing place, with breathtaking views. 30 minutes from Asheville and an hour from the Blue Ridge Mountains. You won't be disapointed.

    Peter2017-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great view, clean living space and a fairly convenient drive to Asheville, where we spent most of our time. Loved little Isaac and playful Annie (the dogs)

    Ryan2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine's place is beautiful and secluded. It's a perfect place to watch the sunrise and set. Little wine under the stars will make anyone's evening. The drive way is steep, but my Ford Fusion made it up. Catherine's apartment views and accommodations are totally worth the drive!

    Jill2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Visited fir my birthday and my expectations were exceeded. The view to sleeping amenities to host communication was immaculate

    Malik2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine has a lovely place on the outskirts of Asheville (30 mins). The apt was perfect for a couple seeking a weekend retreat. The unit was very nicely furnished and had everything we needed to prepare meals. The outdoor kitchen is incredible. Nice fire place and big green egg. Again, Catherine had everything we needed to grill some burgers. Catherine was a great host overall and we loved having her friendly dogs around for some company. Would definitely return.

  • Would love to book again next time I visit Asheville! Top notch place, private, beautiful, and serene. The place is fantastic and has everything you could need and then some for a vacation.

    Lainey2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The views are what brought us here and they did not disappoint. Situated on the top of a ridge in the Blue Ridge mountains this apartment was perfect for our needs. We wanted to be in nature but close enough to Asheville. It is located in a great spot if you want to explore Hot Springs to go hiking, in Marshall if you want to white water raft, and only 40 minutes or so to Asheville to explore breweries and awesome food. We loved opening the windows in the morning and feeling the cool mountain air and listening to all the birds that call the mountains home. Catherine and her husband were great hosts. Very nice couple and very accommodating.
