  • My 2nd night staying in Francis & Marianne’s house. Once again, all was really good. Excellent accommodation, top location & a lovely couple as hosts. Will be booking their place in Lifford again. Highly recommend 👍😊

  • Francis was so welcoming and nice! She went above and beyond what we expected. Her home was warm and very clean. Wish we could have stayed longer! We would gladly stay here again on our next trip!

  • Great place to stay, was working in the area for the week and needed to stay local. The home had everything I needed for the week, the en-suite bedroom was lovely decorated and warm and cosy. The area is quiet and I had a great nights sleep. Was able to make full use of the kitchen facilities. Would definitely recommend and stay again in the future. Thank you so much for the stay.

  • I was so glad to have found and had the pleasure of staying at Francis's place. Although we didn't meet Francis, his wife Marianne was wonderful. As we were up in Strabane to do a show, she bent over backwards to help us get checked in by dropping the key to us. Her shared accommodation was warmly opened to us. Beds and bathrooms were clean and we were even provided with some cereal, bread, tea and coffee for breakfast. If ever in Strabane again and in need of a place to stay, we will certainly be looking them up again.

  • Very enjoyable & comfortable stay last Saturday night in an excellent Airbnb accommodation in Lifford, Co. Donegal. I must mention Marianne who could not have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful and so an overall top rate owner & host. I am a GP and, during some weekends, I work the late Saturday night & early Sunday morning GP Out of Hours shifts in Strabane Health Centre. So Francie & Marianne’s place is the ideal accommodation for me on those particular Saturday nights. I therefore highly recommend it, would score it 10 out of 10 and I certainly intend & hope to stay there again on future occasions. Kieran

  • Great place and great hospitality. Easy to get to Strabane was a very comfortable room and the host was very helpful. Would definitely come back!

  • Excellent welcome by host Marianne. Accomodation was very well presented & whole house including rooms was immaculate. Beautiful christmas decorations. The bunk room made two girls age 3 & 4 very happy indeed and were so delighted to wake up the next morning to sweeties in their very own Christmas stockings! Dog friendly and hosts were very kind to dogsit for a couple of hours while we went to Oakfield Park Santas express. Delightful stay and highly recommend. If coming back next year would definitely stay again

Within easy distance of Londonderry which is City of Culture 2013, and its airport. Close to the Ulster American Folk Park, Grianan Fort and a hour's drive from Glenveagh Castle, not too from the Giant's Causeway and the beaches of the North Coast. Excellent restaurants nearby in Lifford and Strabane. We are also setting up a small museum to describe the unique history of the property. The house is set in beautiful Donegal farmland, and we also have a fishing lake, for coarse fishing.

  • This is such a welcoming, grounding, calm house, I really loved staying here, the photos do not do it justice at all! Its a beautiful old big house, my bedroom was huge and the windows opened out to this ancient red apple tree, the beds are really comfortable. Jean and Mervyn are just lovely people. Jean's breakfast was so good, perfectly cooked and five star. This is a gem of a place, incredible value and definitely recommend. Only point is that the dropped pin in the Google directions takes you to another house nearby!

  • Irish hospitality at its best! It’s a treat to stay in such an old historic house. Mrs. McKean is a pro who has been doing this BnB business for years. Note to travellers, it’s a secluded place, so you won’t be having any late nights at the pub in this area.

  • Catriona and Desi were the perfect hosts, very easy to get in touch with and very prompt in replying to messages. Very thoughtful hosts from the treats left to the messages asking if we got in ok and if the place was warm enough for us getting in were all a nice touch. The house itself was spotless, cosy, comfy and very spacious. It is very central to the town and was perfect for ourselves as it is in walking distance of everything. One of our party also accidentally left a bag behind them and Catriona has been more than helpful in trying to return it to us. Beautiful little place and would recommend it to anyone visiting strabane. Would definitely stay here again!

They even asked us to join them for Christmas dinner as we travelled to Ireland for a last minute emergency on Christmas Eve. We will never forget the kindness and generosity. Staying at their home was like staying at a family home during a very sad time. You can expect to feel at home here and well looked after. Thank you x

  • Absolutely fabulous! First of all, the hosts went out of their way to be sure we were to have a wonderful time! They communicated immediately & gave amazing ideas, directions & variety of attractions to choose from! The home is beyond wonderful! Downstairs has immaculate kitchen, living & dining room. Fireplace is glorious & large screen TV if you are so inclined!! Kitchen has all you need for self-cooking & making tea, coffee. Plenty of dishes! Remarkably clean & nice lamps for extra light & homey touches. Upstairs has 3 bedrooms & bathroom. Each room has different touches of being at home. Comfortable with soft comforters & blankets. Nice shower with hot water & nice force. They even provide nice extra soaps & shampoos for short stays! Very nice for travelers wanting to pack lightly! To top it all off, the location is simply marvelous. On a very quiet street, with the river directly behind. Close to all shopping, able to walk anywhere. We like to fish, and Catriona & Desi went out of their way finding us websites & fishing shops & people to help us fish away for brown trout! Again, so helpful, courteous, & friendly. Helped in every way imaginable! We felt at home from the start & stayed longer than we originally planned. You cannot miss with this home & these fabulous hosts!!!

  • Ronnie's place had everything we needed for a night stay. The water pressure in the shower was amazing and the beds comfortable. There is a nice view of the river behind his place. We sat out and enjoyed a drink on the picnic table. Conway's Bar was just down the street where all the locals (and owner) greeted us as friends and we enjoyed our time chatting and exchanging stories with them. Ronnie was great with communication and directions to his place. Thanks for hosting us!

  • Due to unforeseen circumstances I stayed at the house instead of the loft, but it was lovely. Huge bedroom with a big, clean ensuite. John made me feel very much part of the family and he was generous and kind. Would have stayed longer if time allowed.

Large room with three good-sized beds, perfect for a family. You will need to share the bathroom, but there is a washbasin in the room. Towels supplied. There's also a kettle for tea and coffee. It's 35 Euros per person over 12 years per night including breakfast. Under fours go free and we can supply a travel cot if you need one. Come and stay with us in our ancient farmhouse, built originally in 1611, and passed down in our family for generations. Within easy distance of Londonderry which is City of Culture 2013, and its airport. Close to the Ulster American Folk Park, Grianan Fort and a hour's drive from Glenveagh Castle, and not too from the Giant's Causeway and the beaches of the North Coast. Excellent restaurants nearby in Lifford and Strabane. We are also setting up a small museum to describe the unique history of the property. The house is set in beautiful Donegal farmland, and we also have a fishing lake, for coarse fishing for you to enjoy.
  • Jean is an amazing host, who took care of us to the minute details. She has a beautiful home, well kept with her antiques. The chiming of different wall clocks was a good experience. Highly recommend !

  • It was great, thank you.

    Paulina2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • I use airbnb regularly and this is by far the best stay I've ever had. It's what all airbnb experiences should be like. Unique, serendipitous and heartwarming. Tea and homemade cakes were served at check-in. Was welcomed and made to feel at home immediately. No other guests around so luckily stayed at the family room with an ensuite bathroom. Spacious with two double beds, which were fitted in with electric blankets for extra warmth, a wardrobe, comfy chairs, a basin, a dressing table on which sat a range of antique silverware. Hot shower. Beautiful decor throughout the house is evidential proof of the long history of this house and the generations of family who have lived here. Breakfast order was taken the night before, served on time, freshly cooked and delicious. Were shown around the farm in the morning which was a very special experience too. Close proximity to a river and an island which offer a chance for a good walk in the countryside. I'd highly recommend it to anyone - especially so if you appreciate peace and quiet, fresh air, exquisite antique furniture and delicate decorations passed down over hundreds of years, and last but not least excellent hosts! NB NOT in Ballindrait as airbnb suggests, closest town is LIFFORD. About 2 miles on R265 off from N14. Best thing to do: find "Longvale House" on Google maps.

    Erin2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • We greatly enjoyed our stay at Longvale. Jean and her family were most welcoming and warm - we loved getting to know her grandchildren! The AirBnB listing was exactly as we found it! We appreciated learning the farm's history from Luke and Mervyn. After much driving on our vacation, the solitude of the farm was most welcome and relaxing. Our room was nice and quiet for the three of us providing us with restful nights' sleep. The breakfasts were so tasty and had us ready for the day. Tea and biscuits on our arrival gave us the spark of energy we needed as we darted out for our next visit with nearby friends. Longvale offered my husband the type of stay he envisioned during our trip to Ireland!

  • Ballyskeagh Farm Artigarvan proved an ideal base to explore Glenveagh Castle, An Grianan of Aileach and Malin Head. Beautiful rural location on a working farm. House was spacious, clean, warm and well stocked. Marie our host had a minor accident prior to our arrival but at short notice her daughter Miranda proved the perfect host. Murphy's on the Green Strabane and The Tree House Muff proved excellent eateries. We experienced hailstones, gales, rain, snow and sunshine. Such conditions enhanced our holiday and added to the wild beauty of our surroundings. Would gladly return and recommend to one and all - so much to see and do in this area.

  • We could not recommend willow cottage enough . Superb hosts , beautiful clean house... had everything we needed ... very warm welcome from Steve , had the fire lit for us , the heating on and fresh scones and jam waiting for us .... we were looking for recommendations for a chinese take away and he even offered to pick it up for us . Nothing appeared too much trouble . I will definitely be recommending his house to my family , friends and work colleagues . 10 out of 10 steven .

  • A lovely home in a quiet, rural setting with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Beautiful countryside yet accessible to city services within 20 minutes. Steven and Alison are intelligent and friendly hosts.

    Rick2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • After two weeks of traveling around Ireland, we were ready for a quiet stay in a nice rural area. This house was just the ticket. The house itself is amazing and very nicely appointed. It used to be Steven and Allison's home -- which shows in all of the very nice amenities. The house is located in a rural area. The front of the house looks out over a beautiful pastoral setting. But you are only about a ten minute drive from Letterkenny. Steven and Allison could not have been nicer hosts. We really enjoyed meeting them. Be aware that because of the rural location, there is no wifi. The mobile signal was such that we could check email, etc. on our phones but not strong enough to serve as a wifi hot spot. Not a big deal for us but could be a problem for those who absolutely require fast internet access. All in all, a wonderful accommodation with kind hosts and a beautiful setting. Highly recommended.

    Barry2019-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • House was amazing! So clean and immaculately presented with lots of added touches which definitely came in use after traveling for over 7 hours. Steve was an amazing host very friendly and was on hand to help with anything that was needed. We would definitely recommend the house and the hosts!! We will definitely return!! :-)

    Michelle2018-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Willow Cottage is a stunning property which is both beautifully and immaculately presented. The Lowery's have thought of everything a family might need on self catering holiday and then some! The bedding and towels were luxurious, the kitchen facilities modern and excellently set up and the surrounding garden was not only beautifully landscaped but safe and secure for our 3 kids - all under 6 - to run free and play in. Our host Steven couldn't have been any more helpful and thoughtful. He was very prompt and welcoming on arrival, very kind, thoughtful and friendly without invading our privacy throughout our stay and even provided personal touches that made our break that extra bit special. There are brochures and maps available in the property and Steven gave us some recommendations and even booked a meal for us in the nearby town of Letterkenny. He was available throughout by text or call for any queries we had and always with a smile. I cannot recommend this property and host enough. Thank you Steven for a wonderful break in the most beautiful surroundings.

Our cottage (Strule) was beautifully clean on arrival and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It is very well equipped and provides excellent facilities for elderly/disabled guests. Comfortable twin room, with a shower, basin and loo en-suite. There's a kettle, for tea and coffee, in the room too. Longvale is not a hotel, it is our family home and a working farm, which we are happy to share with chosen guests. The furniture and furnishings are in keeping with the historical nature of the property. We expect our guests to understand this before booking. There is a breakfast menu available, and we try to cater for special diets. Otherwise most of our guests enjoy a full Irish breakfast, cooked with local ingredients where possible. There is a guests' sitting room with television, a spacious dining room and large garden and farm. Rocky the dog is part of the family. Everyone enjoys tea and home-made cake on the house on arrival. You pay 35 Euros a night each, with children under 12 half price, sharing the parents' bedroom. Under fours are free, and we can supply a travel cot if required.

    Martina2018-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jean is absolutely wonderful and her home feels like you're living in Irish history. The carpets, wallpaper, light fixtures, and furniture seem to all have been so carefully chosen. Jean was very accommodating about my unexpectedly very late check-in and even served me tea after a long day of driving. She was wrong about one thing though... After I raved about her Irish breakfast she told me I'd surely experience a better one at some point later during my travels in Ireland. Nope! Jean's has been hands-down, the BEST! Savor that traditional Irish breakfast made with love. Thanks so much, Jean!

The room had 2 huge beds and an ensuite since its winter and cold jean put heated blankets on the beds so we could be nice and cozy. In the morning jean made us a huge Irish breakfast and helped us with directions on where we wanted to go. This home is a must if you are wanting to stay in this area definitely recommend to anyone.

  • There is no more beautiful setting for a relaxing night after a long drive. I was greeted as I got out of my car, and shown through this gorgeous home to my room. Tea was served promptly after I got settled in, and I enjoyed the serene atmosphere of the quiet country farm. Breakfast was delicious as well. I wish I could have stayed longer, but I had a tight schedule to keep. If I find myself in Co. Donegal again, I will certainly request another stay.

We were freezing from a cold day at Giant’s causeway and David got the home warm and cozy before we arrived which was heaven! There was also some tea, coffee, milk and cookies which was super nice. Home was perfect size and location - close to Derry. Comfortable beds! Great place to stay!

  • We had a fantastic trip to Derry and that wouldn't have been possible without a great home base like Shane's place! The house was clean and warm and had everything we needed and more! Shane's dad, Davy, was there to welcome us - and was very accommodating of our late arrival. He showed us in and where everything was - and even put up with us chatting his ear off for a good half hour! It felt like we were staying with a friend or family. Despite only staying one night, we were able to finish a couple of loads of laundry, prepare a quick breakfast and take a lovely morning walk around the neighbourhood. It was also a quick 15-20 minute drive right into the heart of Derry. Would definitely recommend!
