  • This was my first visit to northern Michigan and right when we parked were greeted by Dave! Everything was ready and there was detail everywhere. We didn’t need to reach out with any questions after our first meet! Traverse City and many stores are 20 minutes or less away and the views from our floor we’re amazing! Hot tub, sauna, and fireplace, everything was amazing!

  • Great place to stay! Loved having a hot tub, sauna, and little fire place right in our room! The 2 restaurant options for breakfast were both yummy! About 25-30 min drive to traverse City!

  • Amazing place and location! Dave and Melanie were outstanding hosts!

    Vivian2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted a quiet, romantic, and special getaway and the chalet gave us everything and more! The space was large and the hot tub and sauna were so luxurious. We felt super at home and were provided everything we needed (from a wine chiller to eye make-up remover to numerous and quality towels to a space heater in case we got chilly... they thought of everything!). We hope to return during a different season to explore the area and hiking trails more than we were able to (it was a bit cold for us). I highly recommend this spot for your stay!

    Celeste2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a unique and amazing place. We really enjoyed the hot tub and sauna being right in the room. The weather wasn't great while we were there so we didn't use the kayaks , but think it is wonderful that you have the opportunity to do so. Great views of the lake and David was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!

    Amanda2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful Views from every window! Short walk to national forest trails! Perfect place for a getaway:)

    Janelle2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend for anyone looking for a romantic getaway and a great host. The peaceful view of the lake and the sauna and spa are a great touch!

    Rico2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Chalet, so relaxing to wake up to a view of the first and enjoy the hot tub overlooking the lake. We went on the kayaks to watch the sunset, very peaceful! And the breakfast was delicious, restaurant quality. So convenient and fun. Would definitely recommend this place.

The Cottonwood Carriage House is located in the Heart of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore voted most beautiful place in America. The Carriage House is within walking distance to the Empire Beach, shopping, and places to eat. Nearby are hiking trails, biking trails (27 miles of paved bike trail) beaches & rivers for kayaking/canoeing. SUP or tubing down at your own leisure. Also within a short distance wineries, golfing, shopping, and local brew pubs. There is something for everyone. The Carriage house sleeps 4 very comfortably. The room also has an Air conditioner, Flat screen t.v. and wifi.
The Carriage house is a bi-level house once used as a garage and for farm workers that helped out on the Roen farm. Now it has a loft upstairs with a queen and two twin beds perfect for a family or just a couple getting away for a weekend. The downstairs has a small living area, kitchen and bathroom. The Carriage house is equipped with a/c, wifi and flat screen tv's.
The Carriage House is located on a quiet tree lined street but within walking distance to shops, places to eat, The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park Headquarters and the beautiful Empire Beach. The Empire Beach has two lakes for swimming and playing. It has the majestic Lake Michigan and South Bar.
  • Holly and her property deliver on what they promise. The local is outstanding for all the local activities.

    Kevin2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great experience at the Carriage House. I would highly recommend it for families interested in visiting this part of Michigan. The house worked very well for our family of four (kids are 8 and 10). For context, the house is an old carriage house/barn/garage that has been fully renovated and is very comfortable. The house is well-maintained and very clean. The main floor has a small kitchen, bathroom, small table, and living area with a TV. Up a spiral staircase is a big loft bedroom with a queen/full bed and two twins for the kids. Off the back of the room is a nice wooden deck with chairs. The carriage house is part of a larger inn, “The Cottonwood,” but the carriage house stands on its own away from the main house and has a very private feel to it. It is an easy bike ride or very short drive to the beach and to the stores in Empire. We also drove up to Glen Arbor, Leland, and Traverse City, all of which were easy drives. The Cottonwood property is huge and there was plenty of room for the kids to run around on the lawn during the day. Extra perks: good breakfast every morning at the inn, free wifi, garage space to keep bikes.

  • Hidden gem in Empire! Great place to stay if you want to checkout the Sleeping Bear dunes Lakeshore and don't want to drive a long distance. We spent 3 nights and still didn't get to everything. We will definitely be coming back.

    Kate2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome house and an awesome host! Had a great time in Empire and this house was the perfect place to stay. Will be returning!

    Josh2019-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • The carriage house was the perfect place for our summer getaway! The location is convenient for accessing local hiking trails and beaches, and is only a short drive away from Glen Arbor. Michele2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay in the center of Leelanau County. Exceptionally clean and comfortable and the hosts couldn’t be more gracious or helpful. It is quiet and serene but still a quick drive to wineries and restaurants and shopping in Suttons Bay and Leland. And a top notch breakfast!

    Julie2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This B&B is quite fantastic. The location is in great proximity to many Leelanau County destinations, and Jerry & Nancy have taken great care in building a wonderful house for their guests. It is clean, well kept, and great care has been put into the accommodations. The greatest part about staying at Inn The Pines is the hospitality, flexibility, and kindness that Jerry & Nancy show to their guests. They are easy to talk to and very friendly without being overbearing. We would stay here again just to catch up with them.

  • What a lovely experience - the hospitality and care shown by Jerry and Nancy was top notch. Their home is very comfotable, peaceful and quiet - just steps off the main trail in Leelanau County. Very well appointed and centrally-located. The homemade breakfast each morning was above the top delicious, and Nancy took excellent care to make sure items were allergen free for us. Thank you! We hope to return! :D

Peaceful 1894 home across the street from beautiful Crystal Lake and 1 mile to Beulah, MI. Benzie County offers some of the best sight-seeing, hiking, fishing, kayaking, boating and skiing that Michigan offers. We are next to the dunes, lakes, rivers, Crystal Mtn. and 40 mins. to Trav. City. Our Inn features 4 air cond rooms with private bath and shower. Rates are per room for two persons and include self-serve breakfast. Ask about weddings, anniversaries, kayaking trips , hikes, bike trail.
We are within walking distance to many restaurants and shops in downtown Beulah, just 9/10's of a mile away. There is a public boat launch and marina on Crystal Lake 1/2 mile from our home. The home is quiet and set back off the road, has ample parking, and is a great location to get to any of the many area attractions. We also have 6 kayaks and can arrange a kayak trip, sunset hike to Lake Michigan or tours to local wineries and distilleries. Excellent restaurants nearby.
Houses are spaced far enough to allow privacy. We have a wonderful view to Crystal Lake across the street. Nearby Beulah is on the lake and 1 mile away with places to sit and relax, and has some excellent restaurants, ice cream shops and maintains it's up North, small-town charm.
  • My wife and I have traveled to quite a few cities and stayed at many AirBnbs, hotels, hostels, inns, etc., and I can say without any doubt in my mind that the Gold Star Inn was our favorite. The inn itself is absolutely beautiful and couldn't be located in better (it has views of Crystal Lake and is quite close to Sleeping Bear Dunes). However, what makes the Gold Star Inn truly special is Dan and Julie. Never have I met such gracious and hospitable hosts; from the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and at home. Needless to say, we look forward to staying again in the future and would highly recommend the Gold Star Inn to anyone else that is visiting the area.

    Greg2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We would return for sure if we were coming to the area again.

    Fred2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Goldstar Inn is a nicely decorated, historical home located within viewing distance of Crystal Lake. The local town of Beulah has several eating establishments including a McDonalds. Additional opportunities are available just to the north in Honor. You are a short drive from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Dan is a friendly, attentive host. The room I stayed in had a comfortable bed, small bathroom with shower only, and a walk-in closet with extra hangers. There are local activity brochures available and Dan might even offer to take you kayaking. I would definitely consider staying there again if in the area.

    Jonathan2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Gold Star Inn was a great place to stay. The check-in was a simple and convenient. Our room was clean and had all amenities for our stay. Julie made delicious coffee cakes for the morning continental breakfast. If you want to go kayaking. Dan will provide them for a fee.

    Kathy2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Matt and I had an awesome long weekend at the inn. We came into town on short notice and Dan was great about accommodating our last minute reservation. We really enjoyed everything about the inn— the room was great-looking and spotless and comfortable, the rest of the house was bright and pretty and welcoming, the breakfast had nice touches (Dan mentioned they made the yogurt themselves), and the location was convenient to a bunch of things in the area. Dan gave spot-on recommendations for places to eat and things to do, and he was also a genuinely nice guy to chat with. Hope to come back again next time we’re in the area.

    Robert2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome hosts and awesome place. Perfect for one night or several. 5 stars

    Steve2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Dan is the perfect host. He went out of his way to make us feel at home for the weekend. The room was just perfect and the hospitality was beyond our wildest dreams. From the French toast muffins to the fruit scones and the piping hot coffee upon arrival at breakfast, the food was just great (and home made also). I have stayed at several Air BnB's and have found most of the hosts to be genial and courteous but Dan is at the very top of our friendly host list. I can recommend his establishment with complete confidence that you will be warmly greeted and made to feel like you now have a friend in Michigan. I know that's how my wife and I now feel.

    Michael2019-08-12T00:00:00Z

Master Suite Single Room Queen Bed Bay View Private Bath, En Suite Clawfoot Tub Two-Person Shower
This beautiful rustic-modern bungalow-lodge was originally built in the 1940's by Traverse City writer and historian, Larry Wakefield. The original cedar cabin was heated by a wood fireplace, and had no indoor facilities. Larry and Lucille Wakefield were mink farmers, as well as splendid gardeners. We are reminded daily of their labors, enjoying the spirea, forsythia, violets, fruit trees, flowering bulbs, and ivy. Larry was also a historical writer. The Maggie Mae Room has an en suite bathroom.
Our property is located on beautiful M-22, one of the most scenic drives in the United States, halfway between Suttons Bay and Traverse City, in the heart of wine-country, and near Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes and other Leelanau sights. We are minutes from a wonderful, safe bike trail, and 32 local wineries. We specialize in gorgeous sunrises!

    Kimberly2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Close enough to almost everything on the peninsula, but far enough away from all the business of Traverse City to relax!

  • Great place to stay! Sunset Lodge feels like a home away from home. Mary & Dan are helpful in every way. Nice breakfast and relaxed atmosphere to socialize with other guests or find alone time to relax on many beautiful porches or beautiful grounds. Great location, close to many wineries, great restaurants, water, and not too far from Traverse City. We went to TC almost every day for the Film Festival, only 30 minutes away, and still had time to visit other areas and nearby towns. Extremely clean place!

  • Lovely B&B tucked away in Suttons Bay Area. Beautiful lake views and near to Leelanau Cellars wine room. The house is very clean and well maintained. Lack of central AC was not a problem even during hot July weather. Mary prepared a great homemade breakfast every morning. Would recommend!

    Allyson2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the house and the host's were really nice and inviting. We loved getting coffee in the morning and sitting out on the second floor patio that was just outside our room.

  • The Garthe Guest House is a perfect spot located right in the heart of Suttons Bay, with the best host. Wonderful accomodations, including the continental breakfast with fresh scones that were enjoyed on the deck overlooking the flowers and view of the bay. We so enjoyed our short walk to the beach and marina, and then continued through town taking in the shops, coffee and of course Moomers ice cream at M22 ice cream. Great price point and prompt communication with Jerome. A frequent favorite for sure!

Some say the necessities of life are food, water and shelter. We don’t disagree. But we happen to think there are a few other items that make that life worth living: romance, respite, art, exploration…and maybe a few cookies before bed. At the Korner Kottage B&B, living the sweet life is not only possible, it’s the rule. So what are you waiting for? Come stay awhile. Feed your soul, inspire your heart. Rest your body. Your joy is in our details. 1 1921 Craftsman style home~3 of the 4 private bed rooms have en suite bathrooms. The Porch room has a private detached bathroom.
We are a few steps from the the water, park and marina across the street. The village is only 4 blocks in length and within walking distance from our front porch steps with local restaurants, unique shopping, a fun, hip coffee shop and much more.
  • Korner Kottage is a fantastic B n B!! The accommodations are charming!! The home is comfortable and clean! Jared and Jillian are wonderful. We really enjoyed getting to know them! We will definitely be going back to stay at Korner Kottage!!

    Theone2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect! We enjoyed our stay. Jared and Jillian were very kind. The breakfast each day was excellent and the home is very quaint!

  • This is a special place with wonderful hosts. The location is great, easy to walk to the marina and shops and restaurants, close to some great bike paths, and the entire area is beautiful. The breakfasts were creative and delicious. We especially enjoyed talking with the hosts, they had great travel tips.

  • This place should be named the Kozy Korner Kottage! Great location, awesome hosts, amazing breakfast! Highly recommend for a couple days in Suttons Bay!

  • This is a delightful cottage so close to everything in Suttons Bay. Jared is a great chef who delights ones palate with scrumptious breakfast meals. You will be amazed at his expertise. Together Jared & Jillian compliment each other and will be around a long time in Suttons Bay.

    Mike2018-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Korner Cottage was so perfect! We stayed in the Porch room, which in the description of the room states that it has a private detached bathroom. I was slightly concerned about the bathroom being detached, but Jared and Jillian assured us that all the other guests would be informed that that was our bathroom and no one else may use it except for us, there is also a key that locks the bathroom so that you can keep all of your toiletries in there without worry. Jared and Jillian were very quick to respond to any inquires that i had. The location was great, we brought our bikes and they had a large shed that we were able to store them in when we weren't using them. The breakfast was absolutely outstanding and was served at 9am. I would defiantly recommend the Korner Cottage, in fact I have another visit booked for next month!

  • This was a home away from home! It was a short distance from the national park and Peter gave a wonderful recommendation about a scenic drive that we really enjoyed. Breakfast was wonderful! Highly recommend sticking around one morning for it and skip a sunrise. Room was very clean and the house was well kept. Peter was very accommodating and helping with our late check in due to traffic. Highly recommend!

We're off the beaten path here, close to nature; peaceful and relaxing.
Surrounded by woods and water; summer cottages past us on Neahtawanta Point; wineries sprinkled through-out the Old Mission Peninsula; great bicycling
  • Sally's inn is a clean, cozy, family atmosphere. We enjoyed a lovely weekend without the kids in this quiet place. Sally's food is delicious! Our room was perfect. We enjoyed kayaking, hiking, biking and resting. We can't wait to come again!

  • I f you are looking for a peaceful, tranquil escape this is certainly the place to go ! Very clean, Sally and the staff are so very kind. This was an amazing place to stay!

  • If you are looking for a beautiful spot to relax and get away from everything, you would be hard pressed to find a better place. Sally is an exceptional host and made us feel very welcome. The location of the inn was perfect...on beautiful Bowers Harbor, close to all that Traverse City has to offer. We appreciated that the inn operates in an environmentally-conscience manner. It’s a wonderful place to recharge your soul. We look forward to visiting again!

    Sean2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Inn was in a great location, right on the water. Rental includes use of kayaks and canoes, but it was too windy for us to want to try them out. It's just a quick drive down to Traverse City, and you are very near some great wineries. The bed was comfortable, and the room was very nice. Each room has its own air conditioner, which is great, but when we arrived the room had been unoccupied and the air conditioner hadn't been running, making the room hot. It cooled down quickly, and after that there were no more problems.

    Tim2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful rustic Inn on Old Mission Peninsula. Despite the cold and snow, enjoyed the view of the bay, cozy surroundings and quiet. The Inn has a wonderful library. Lots of vineyards, good restaurants nearby. Sally is a wonderful host. Incredible up keep of the Inn, very clean. Breakfast was simple, but satisfying. We will return!

    Judith2018-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • A slice of heaven! My fiancé and I were driving through and found this gem on our travels. We felt like we hit the jackpot with this spot! Sally is lovely and the house was clean, quite, and serene. We came from Chicago and the inn was a breath of fresh air, a quite retreat from the busy city! Not only is it in an idealistic location but there is a yoga studio on site and the breakfast was amazing! Not recommended for louder groups-this is where you want to go to unwind, relax and breathe in the clean air. You are close to wineries and a few great resturaunts too. And downtown Traverse City isn't too far so there are lots of options for exploring the area. We recommend coffee on the back porch and a walk out to the beach and pier! Oh, and maybe a glass of wine by the fire pit in the evening! We will absolutely be coming back!

  • This is a very peaceful cottage in the woods on a lake. It was cutely, thematically and appropriately decorated for an Anglers' Nook. We had breakfast delivered to our room and could have had the room cleaned daily. I was very happy with the five star hospitality. This was the best AirBNB experience I have ever had!

  • Great place to kayak. Breakfast served in main house or in your apartment from menu with good variety. Obviously well organized and thought out top to bottom.

  • Melanie and Dave go to great lengths to ensure their guests have an outstanding stay and are properly cared for. What sets them apart is their attention to detail. My boyfriend and I were celebrating our five-year anniversary, so we spent New Years at the lodge. Without prompting, Melanie printed information on the Traverse City Cherry Drop and surprised us with homemade, celebratory, mini cheesecakes. Dave also notified us of impending winter weather, which allowed us to change plans and avoid getting stuck in the winter storm. I highly recommend Melanie and Dave’s Lake and Pine Lodge.

  • Great place. Hosts were remarkable. Delicious breakfast. Nice hot tub. All at a very affordable price. We hope to return.

    Allen2018-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • No matter what else you're planning to do in the area, you will not have to worry about where you're sleeping. I LOVED this place, and we were already planning on seeing if we can come back on our anniversary. It was quiet, it was beautiful, and so so scenic. The hot tub was glorious and the breakfasts were so tasty. We enjoyed the movies we borrowed from the main house and those binders full of food and sights to see were A+ (Hofbrau was amazing thanks for the rec)! The lake was stunning and my only regret is I was too scared to use one of the (free!) boats hahaha. Wonderful place and wonderful people managing it. Experience in the industry certainly makes for a great experience for their guests :)

  • Loved every second of our stay here. Was everything we could have wanted, host was great and the room service breakfast each morning was such a treat. Would definitely come back if ever in the area again.

The room was very clean, lots of fresh linens, a super comfy bed and pillows! Extra touches such as a fridge to keep your wine cool and delicious pastries available were especially nice. • Hands down the BEST AirBNB I have ever stayed at and probably will ever stay at. Jerry and Nancy are the kindest people and such warm and hospitable hosts. Their home felt like walking into my parent's house: you feel cozy, warm, and cared for the whole time. They were incredibly easy to communicate with and so accommodating. There were always homemade cookies in the common area and Nancy's breakfasts were incredible!!! So many lovely personal touches placed throughout the space. They had a lot of pro-tips on things to do/eat in the area. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the environment was peaceful and rejuvenating. Met two other lovely couples at the Airbnb, and we had a lot of fun getting to know them as well. Can't wait for an opportunity to stay with Nancy and Jerry again!

    Bonnie2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is stunning - pictures don't do it justice and you can't put into words how great Jerry and Nancy are to stay with. Location great, easy drive to Lake Leelanau, Sutton's Bay, Leland, Northport, and Traverse City. Ask Jerry & Nancy for suggestions - everything they suggested was fantastic (and they're great to chat with)! Hiking, wine, cider, restaurants, shops are all fantastic options close by. Per other reviews, breakfast was outstanding. Can you say homemade scones and MOR coffee? I can't wait to stay again. This place will meet and exceed your expectations - it did for mine and I can't wait to spread the word about Inn the Pines!

    Anna2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy and Jerry provide their guests with many thoughtful touches. You won't find better hosts anywhere! We loved the location, conversation and terrific hospitality. Sparkling clean and restful. Nancy's breakfasts are spectacular. Bring a big appetite!

  • Jerry and Nancy’s place is literally “in the pines”, and so beautiful. While you look out into the north woods of Michigan, there is nothing rusty about the amenities of their home. Homemade breakfast is shared in common area with other guests, which we really enjoyed. Thank you!

  • There is no doubt Caryn is a super-host! First the view is incredible from both the house and the bedroom. It was very relaxing to sit by the bay each evening and have breakfast on the front porch each morning. The home and bedroom are immaculately clean and everything is just lovely. Many extras are provided, nice towels, toiletries, water, a small fridge and a beautifully presented, tasty continental breakfast. They also provided great travel tips for things to do and places to dine. Definitely a place to stay!

  • Caryn and Bob are super easy going and very hospitable. Very clean, stylish and comfortable. Great water view from our room. Enjoyed the complimentary use of the kayaks on the bay. The Leelanau Cellars wine tasting room (complimentary tastings!) and a restaurant is short walk away. We stayed for two nights and filled our time biking around scenic Omena Point Road, kayaking on the still bay in the morning, wine tasting, and golf in the area. Had a blast! Quiet historic little own but close to so much! Suttons Bay, Northport, Leland, Traverse...

  • Everything about Sunset Lodge was perfect. A beautiful, historic venue that served as a wonderful "home base" for an impromptu weekend on the Leelanau Peninsula. Mary and Dan were the best - we hope to return again in the future!

  • Great location and beautiful home. We loved the yard, the view, our room and the continental breakfast in the morning. Friendly hosts and very clean. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

  • We had a wonderful four night stay at Sunset Lodge. The historic inn is well-maintained, super clean, very comfortable and nicely decorated. We especially loved the water views and gentle breeze from the large windows, first and second floor porches and outside seating area. I was grateful for the extensive information about restaurants, natural areas and sites to see that were provided in the host’s guidebook as well as written information in the room. Mary also posted daily activities in the area e.g. a local concert, farmers market, museum opening etc. Their information helped me quickly plan our visit to the best places in Leelanau Peninsula. I would highly recommend a visit to this gorgeous area with stay at Sunset Lodge.

  • This place is a great value and very close to a ton of things. We used the trail to ride our bikes. You can ride down to Traverse City or on up to Sutton’s Bay. Home has everything you need and great food. The extra touches make it even better.

  • We had a great time! The space was exactly what I was expecting, and we felt very welcome. The breakfast food was incredible, and we were just a couple minutes away from Sutton’s Bay, which is a really nice town. Would definitely recommend this place to a friend!

  • The description provided of the property, if anything, understates its quality, and certainly Elizabeth and Dave deserve the title of "Superhosts"!

  • What a beautiful place! Three bedrooms, all upstairs with a common lounge/reading room. Breakfast was wonderful and Beth was so friendly and accommodating - we felt like we were staying with an old friend. Got great tips on wineries and restaurants - our treat to ourselves before embarking on a 3 day women's backpacking trip on North Manitou Island.
