Manistee Vacation Rentals

Just booked in Manistee

Step back in time and enjoy the unique setting of a 1920 design railroad car ferry. For 50 years the Steamship City of Milwaukee crossed Lake Michigan carrying freight on her car deck. The upper decks including passenger and Officer rooms are available for you to enjoy. The two bunk stateroom is a great place to lay your head when you have a full day planned and need limited time in your room. Perfect for friends traveling, or parents sharing with a child. Great for the single a visitor also.
The SS City of Milwaukee is 360' long ship as well as a National Historic Landmark. We have passenger staterooms and crew quarters that are available. Staterooms and quarters are restored from the original 1929 design and sleep 1 to 4 people in a room. The passenger common area provides a comfortable place to relax and socialize. The Grand Saloon has comfy vintage chairs and oriental rugs. The observation room provides a airy space to write, play board games, and/or cards. The interior of the ship allows you to feel as if you transported back in time to a era before televisions (though cell phones still work!). Internet is available on shore. The ship's deck space provides the perfect advantage to lounge in the sun and watch nature from our provided deck chairs. The boat is moored on Lake Manistee with beautiful views of natural wetlands and the surrounding town activity. A small continental breakfast will be available from 8am to 10am in the passenger dining room. Restroom facilities are shared. We provide both men's and women's restrooms and two showers on board. The rooms do not have private rest rooms. Restrooms are closely located to all rooms. The City of Milwaukee is a true 1930's experience and does not offer air conditioning but every room has a window and fans are provided. The S.S. City of Milwaukee's passenger deck is where your room will be located and to access that deck you will have to climb our outside staircase. We do have a chair lift for those who have trouble climbing stairs. We suggest that you pack light for the climb although our crew is available to help with luggage.
The S.S. City of Milwaukee is located 1/2 mile from the historic downtown and within minutes to Lake Michigan beaches. The Little River Casino and the start of the beautiful M22 drive is just 5 miles to the north.
  • Linda was a great host. She was very hospitable and helpful, including directing us to a tasty dinner spot. We appreciated the opportunity to stay on the SS City of Milwaukee with its beautiful woodwork and era appropriate artifacts. It was fun to explore and photograph the boat and sit on deck in the evening light. Highly recommended!

  • What can we say? This was absolutely the PERFECT way to spend our 34th anniversary overnight, aboard this noble, antique ship! The accommodations (we had the double room with the brown blanket in the photos) were cozy and the bed very comfortable. The woodwork and 1930's decor on the ship are a step back in time to more genteel days of water travel. We arrived and were greeted by our very helpful and friendly host, Linda. We sat up on deck and enjoyed the lovely views of Lake Manistee and wandered the upper three decks of the ship exploring all the nooks and crannies and imaging what life must have been like aboard when this ship was in use as a ferry. A brief passing storm brought a double rainbow over the lake which was magical! Then clear skies for a blanket of stars overnight. I am a light sleeper and often have trouble sleeping away from home - the comfy bed and cool lake breeze did it - I was amazed when I woke so late and found that Linda had a lovely Continental breakfast awaiting us with a selection of pastries, boiled eggs, yogurt, muffins, coffee and juices. We are already scheming to get a dozen or so of our friends together to stay so we can enjoy the place together......maybe we will insist on period clothing and make an event of it! This would be a perfect overnight for a small family reunion - I believe it can overnight accommodate about 20 or so (maybe more?). Anyhow, we have told numerous people about it in the past 2 days and most did not know they could stay the night - I hope they check it out as it is a real gem along the Michigan coastline! (PS I tried to get better photos on board to do it better justice - it is near impossible due to the lighting through the cabin windows - the real deal is much better than the photos!)

  • The retired car ferry "City of Milwaukee" offers a unique opportunity to stay overnight in a floating museum, transporting you back to 1931. If you value the historic, memorable experience, you'll find the low rates to be outstanding value. The staterooms are delightfully original yet comfortable, and you can even have a hot shower on board. I've stayed three nights, on separate occasions, and hope to be able to stay again. I don't know of anything quite like it. It's a must-do for anyone interested in the history of Great Lakes shipping and railroads--or just a little time travel.

  • My fiancé and I had a wonderful time. The boat is amazing and we loved sitting on the deck at night. We would definitely come again and have recommended it to all our friends

    Maggie2015-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience! Linda made us feel right at home and was available for any questions we had. This is truly one of the most amazing places my wife and I have ever stayed and we felt like we had the ship to ourselves. I highly recommend spending several days here.

    Adam2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was 1 of the coolest experiences - surreal. Sitting out on the deck looking at the stars at night. Very comfortable bed.

    Mary2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was such an interesting and relaxing place to stay, and Linda was very kind and welcoming!

    Kate2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was wonderful and so accommodating. It was so fun being able to stay on this memorable ship. We will definitely be staying again.

We are so happy to welcome guests to our historic log cabin on Bar Lake just steps from Lake Michigan. Built over 100 years ago and lovingly restored, the cabin offers modern comforts in a peaceful setting.
Our cabin is situated on a wooded double lot on scenic Bar Lake in Manistee, Michigan. The cabin was built over 100 years ago as a fishing cabin. Since then the cabin has been restored and modernized, but Bar Lake and the surrounding natural beauty has remained. The cabin easily sleeps six in two bedrooms, a loft, and a sofa bed. The clean and cozy wooden interior features a sitting room, dining room with a trestle table, and kitchen. The interior has an airy open cathedral ceiling and plenty of light from skylights. The backyard looks over Bar Lake. The Orchard Beach State Park and Lake Bluff Audobon Society have protected the natural beauty of the opposite shore, providing wooded vistas and plenty of wildlife. Look out for the bald eagle fishing in the lake!
We live in a small community on Bar Lake. We are a short drive to the City of Manistee, Portage Lake, the Manistee National Forest,

  • very good and beautiful house

    Aiqin2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean house and spacious. We loved how close to 25th avenue beach it was. Great kitchen for cooking in and just minutes away from historic downtown. Recommed to anyone who wants a nice quiet get away close to the lake.

    Ethan2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This house was wonderful for our family trip to Manistee. The place looks exactly like the photos and is perfect for a family. We were traveling with our 3 year old and didn't have any issues. It was safe for a young child. This house had everything we could of possibly needed and more. The home was very clean and it had all the kitchen utensils, plates, spices, etc. that you could think of. The house is in a quiet residential neighborhood with a secluded backyard surrounded by trees. We even saw a deer in the front yard one night. It is very close to downtown Manistee and the beaches. You can walk to downtown if you are in the mood, probably about 3/4 of a mile and it is about a 5 min. drive to the beaches. Based on our experience we would stay again.

    Renee2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice pleasant place.

    Rahul2017-09-04T00:00:00Z

The building was originally Manistee National Bank. The recently renovated apartment is where the Bank offices were originally located. It sits on the Manistee River Walk. Guests have easy access to the River Walk for a nice stroll down to Lake Michigan. The building is centrally located in the downtown Historic District, steps away from local shopping, dining, and entertainment.
The recently renovated apartment is 1500 sq ft, has original hardwood floors and exposed brick walls, 11' ceilings, tons of natural lighting, and a beautiful back deck that overlooks the Manistee River. There are stairs leading up to the apartment from the street (pictured). The rear access is via a spiral staircase (pictured) on the patio that leads down to the lower levels of the building. There is one parking space located behind the building for your use.
  • Great Place right on the river. Barry was easy to communicate with, but we didn't have any problems there anyway. The space is large and the balcony makes for a great place to watch the sunset. It's in a good centra location for shops, but also a good home base for hiking in the state forest.

    David2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Barry's apartment is a great place to stay in Manistee. It's beautiful, modern, very clean and centrally located. The back deck was especially wonderful to hang out at to watch the channel's boat traffic & star gaze. I highly recomnend staying here. Communication was great & check-in/check-out very easy.

    Dawn2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a wonderful place located in the perfect place. We were able to walk to different shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed the river walk and having the river right out the back door. If you are visiting the city of Manistee this is the perfect place to stay.

    Jade2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment was awesome, very clean, and had a great location. Barry was very easy to work with and the place was stocked with all the basic essentials we needed. I would absolutely stay here again if I am in the area.

    Ashley2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was very clean and comfortable. It has a great kitchen and comfy beds. Barry thought of all the details, too. So much fun to be right downtown.

    Katherine2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • My family stayed here a few nights and enjoyed our stay. This was our first visit to Manistee. It is about an hour and a half drive to sleeping bear dunes and Traverse City. The unit is very comfortable and clean. Everything is provided. Washer and dryer was convenient. It is close to shops. A short drive to the beach. The unit is the second floor so there are a lot of stairs for those who have difficulty. The back has a spiral staircase so bringing up larger luggage is easier from the front entrance. Barry is a great host. My daughter forgot a sweatshirt and he offered to mail it to us!

    joel2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved it. Everything was clean and nicely laid out. The location was perfect. Great shops and restaurants close by. Movie theater across the street was very convenient. Perfect place to relax inside or out. You will need to like steps.

  • We loved the place and its location, we could walk along the windy beach and warm up in the cottage afterwards. We had privacy but knew that Karen and John were available if we Needed. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed, perfect. Perfect for a couple but would consider bringing friends and family in the summer. Loved every moment of being in the peace and quiet! Thanks.

This vacation getaway is ideally located just blocks from Lake Michigan, Manistee Riverwalk, Historic Downtown Manistee, tennis courts, boat launches and a golf course. You’ll love the spacious rooms, comfortable furniture, fenced in backyard, covered patio, sunny deck and quiet neighborhood. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families, and furry friends (pets).
Manistee offers the Vogue movie theater and Ramsdell civic theater and many concert venues on the river and beach throughout the summer months. House of Flavors located downtown has excellent ice cream and good food as well. There is a Dairy Queen on First Street, just blocks from our house. Goody's is an excellent coffee shop located downtown. The Boathouse Grill is also within walking distance.
  • Chris was an incredible host! This was my first AirBnB experience and I had quite a few "newbie" questions. She answered each one and was incredibly helpful. She even recommended a place to book for manis and pedis for all of the ladies on our girls weekend! Her house was very charming and fit the needs of 8 ladies just perfectly! The location was great! The neighborhood was super cute and quiet. I went on a morning run and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of sidewalks as well as other people out running and walking. We chose to drive downtown and to the beach but it would have been a very easy 15 min walk. I HIGHLY recommend her as a host and her house!

    Emily2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • They house was just as described and they even left us some homemade brownies which were extremely delicious and just what we wanted after a long trip. i would definitely stay here again

  • We loved our time in Manistee and this house made it even better. The thoughtful touches of having coffee, snacks, and fudge for us when we arrived was so great! We were so glad to have a nice kitchen to cook breakfast in each morning. We were so comfortable here in Manistee and Chris does a great job providing a clean and comfortable house to stay in!

    Joy2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • This house was absolutely perfect. So comfortable and homey. Chris was great, went above and beyond goals sure our experience was top notch. From the homemade cookies to welcome us...to having everything we could have possibly needed. Spices and condiments there when we grilled out. And games to play when we just wanted some down time. Spent a lot of time out back in the beautiful and comfy patio furniture. Couldn't have asked for anything more. Nice quiet neighborhood with awesome neighbors. We did meet a few. If there was anything we forgot....I guarantee it was there. I can not say enough great things about my experience. I will definitely go back and stay again. Just wonderful!!!

    Ellie2016-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at this residence. The house was as advertised, clean and nicely furnished. Although we didn't meet the host (Chris), he was very responsive to text messaging. Chris also provided valuable suggestions of local attractions. The kids enjoyed the place as well, including the gift cookies and Netflixs.

    M2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Felt very at ease in the home since there were small signs describing the home and location of items. It was very clean and well stocked for cooking meals. Loved the availability of all the spices and herbs.

    Clea2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at in Manistee was outstanding. This home was ideal for what we needed for a golf weekend in northern Michigan. We were 30 minutes from Arcadia Bluffs and Hemlock Golf Club which are both outstanding. The details in the home and the ease of use was wonderful. The home has all you need to cook, grill, and enjoy a wonderful weekend away. Chris left a welcome package with some Manistee National Golf balls, thanks Chris!

    Jordan2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Where the extras aren't extra! The house was very well furnished, and we really appreciated the "extras" - that is, the welcome basket, goodies for the kids, stocked pantry, all the cookware, linens, supplies, etc - having all of that in a rental is not too common from our experience! Also, the location is great and the quiet neighborhood very nice! I appreciated Chris' quick replies to all of my e-mails as well. Would definitely recommend.

The Chief's room is great for the single traveler. The room includes a desk, 3/4 size bed and a closet. It is also has two windows. This room was the Chief Engineers room while the S.S. City of Milwaukee was operating.
  • Fabulous! I had the chief engineers room and it was very cozy. The ship is huge, in amazing shape with a lot of history. I'll stay there again in a heartbeat.

  • My stay at the SS City of Milwaukee was a bit spontaneous. I was wandering with my motorcycle and camping for several days. I travel a lot and stay in chain hotels. It's nice but predictable and sometimes gets old. Linda was a great host. She welcomed me aboard. Staying on a piece of history was memorable. I sat near the pilot house to watch the sun set. My room was as one could image for the "chief engineer". A cozy, comfortable bed. Old vintage items in the room. Don't hesitate to soak in a unique stay, go for it!

    Michael2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • This ship is AMAZING!!! I had the neatest experience and highly recommend it! The accommodations were spotless and very comfortable. You also can't beat the price! Linda is very friendly and helpful and was very enjoyable to talk to. As for the ship itself, well, it was just the coolest adventure I've had in a long time. I'll definitely be back!

    Cynthia2017-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay. Linda is very welcoming. The view over the lake on the ship is amazing. And the inner of the ship is also stunning. Never thought I would be sleeping in such a historic place. If I am nearby again, I will try to stay there again :)

  • This stay on the SS City of Milwaukee was the highlight of my vacation. I can relay recommend this everybody, who wants to have adventure on a historic ferry. The check in was very flexible. Josh the purser was very kind and explained the all the special details living on this ship. The breakfast was very opulent and variegated. And the room was very cozy with all these original furniture. It was perfect to sit on deck and watch the sundown.

  • Charming cottage, easy access, right on lake, and well as very close to Lake Michigan. The space is well organized, clean and contains everything I would ever need to be comfortable. My 16 year old grandsons and I had a great time and would certainly stay there again if we were in that part of Michigan. Connie is very responsive to questions and extremely easy to work with. This is a superb location for those who desire to be within walking distance of of downtown Manistee with shops, restaurants and events and to be within walking distance or bike ride to the lovely and peaceful Lake Michigan coast and beaches.
  • Great location for a party but only one bathroom.

  • Great location and Venessa was awesome to work with prior to our travels. We will be back next summer. Thank you

    John2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this apartment! It was clean and spacious, plenty of room for our family trip for 6. Venessa was a great host and helped us with any questions we had. The building is on a quiet street just blocks from downtown, and the full kitchen was great for making breakfast.

    David2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Venessa's place was our base camp for day-long excursions in the Manistee area. The space was quiet, spacious, clean and simply lovely. I loved that it was full of light from windows on three sides and that we could open them for fresh air. (The weather happened to be perfect!) The beds were super comfortable and we slept like logs. Manistee is very charming and the beaches are gorgeous. Venessa and I were in touch several times before the trip and she was wonderfully responsive to my questions and requests. It was a fantastic AirBnb experience!

    Julia2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment was even prettier and also bigger than we had expected! I had a family of 6, we were all very comfortable and enjoyed every day here in Manistee. The apartment had everything we needed, the only thing I forgot to pack was a blow dryer and in the bathroom Venessa had left one in the drawer! She was an awesome host and kept great communication and gave us a lot of ideas of things to do in Manistee! The beach was beautiful and so is this apartment, very cool town and my kids want to come back here. Venessa was a great host and I could not have asked for anything to go any smoother honestly!

    Jessi2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Venessa's apartment is charming, spacious, and very convenient to downtown Manistee. We were a group of 5 and the place easily accommodated us for our weekend stay. It was interesting to know that the building is part of Manistee's history... a fact which was also pointed out to us during the historic trolley tour. Would choose to stay here again!

    Mary2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful & spacious apartment. Great for our group of 7

    Maria2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend the apartment. I rented the apartment for 5 days and it was great for me. I was just a bit disappointed upon our arrival that there was no A/C, no microwave and no fan in the bathroom. We were provided with 2 stand alone fans for the entire apt, and each bedrooms have ceiling fan. It didn't help very much on a hot night though :-( There was no shades in the living room and sometimes made it difficult for the kids to watch TV because of the glare. On the other hand, the location was perfect. Very close to downtown and also to the beach. The beds were very very comfortable, the cleanliness of the apartment was unquestionable. The washer and dryer came handy. Be also aware, if you have people who cannot or have difficulties climbing stairs. In order to get to the apartment, you will have to go upstairs (or if you have to carry anything heavy) All in all, i would make reservation again for this apt for future stay. Check in and check out are very very strict. Vanessa was very nice and communication was great. Again, we truly did enjoy our stay, the apt was quiet, as well as the neighborhood. Definitely would recommend.

Step back in time and enjoy the unique setting of a 1920 design railroad car ferry. For 50 years the Steamship City of Milwaukee crossed Lake Michigan carrying freight on her car deck. The upper decks including passenger and Officer rooms are available for you to enjoy. The Railroads executive room is outfitted with one double bed and a settee. Beautifully appointed in oak trim and styled with craftsman elegance.
The SS City of Milwaukee is 360' long ship as well as a National Historic Landmark. We have passenger staterooms and crew quarters that are available. Staterooms and quarters are restored from the original 1929 design and sleep 1 to 4 people in a room. The railroad executive room has one double bed, a bedside table, and a settee.
  • We enjoyed our stay on this historic ship. It was fun.

    Clifford2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very nostalgic and romantic. Not your typical hotel. Just amazing!

    Laura2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real trip back in time. A 1930' s ship chief engineers quarters. This kind of experience just doesn't happen very often. You give up some modern stuff but the experience is worth so much more. Linda is friendly, helpful, easy to talk to an all-around good hostess. I've told many people about this and they were all amazed.

    pj2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Staying on the ship was a fun and very memorable experience. Communicaton with Linda was great and the check-in process was very easy. If you have time check out the retired Coast Guard ship next to the S.S City of Milwaukee.

    jason2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was such an interesting place to stay. The room was larger than we expected and the bed was clean and comfy. We woke up to a beautiful sunrise over the water. Wonderful!

    Martel2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Boat was great. It was a unique lodging experience. Nothing like waking up and walking on the deck of a boat at sunrise (or sunset). Seemed like a fun place to stay with the family.

    Brian2015-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Linda (and Paul) immediately made us feel welcome. The listing is accurate but only begins to describe the uniqueness of the historic steamship, which must be experienced to that regard. Supporting a non-profit with a worthy mission was a pleasure.

  • Our family had an incredible time at Kevin's beach house! With easy access to several great beaches, and a short drive to many of Michigan's scenic treasures and small towns, the location was perfect. The home itself added to the experience, with refreshed updates and a decor that enhanced the northern Michigan retreat feel. Every detail was considered, with extensive shelf space, hooks and all the amenities that a small or large family would need and more. It is the perfect destination to fit any interest; water, woods or just a relaxing escape from the city!

    Mike2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • The whole experience was great from beginning to end. The owner Kevin and the housekeeper, Kim, were in communication with us throughout the time we were there to make sure we had everything we needed. The house was in a perfect setting / beautifully situated on a wooded lot across the street from Lake Michigan and within driving distance to many outdoor activities. Our family enjoyed Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, kayaking on the Platte River, shopping in Manistee and even travel to Traverse City and the wineries. Our family of 5 had plenty of room in the house with the 2 bedrooms for sleeping / 2 bathrooms and large living areas/ kitchen. The house is beautifully decorated with really nice finishes/ the house was nice and clean upon arrival. If we vacation in this area again, we would definitely stay in this home.

    Eileen2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had the time of our lives! The beach campfires will forever be in the kids memories! The amenities at the home were first class! Can't wait to go back next year!

    Elizabeth2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This house was perfect for our needs. It's close to the lake(s) and town, but it still has that woodsy Up North feel. There's a beautiful, large deck for enjoying your morning coffee. Aside from the practical, this house is just really cute and comfortable. Kevin and Michelle were super communicative and flexible. Would highly recommend.

    Sarah2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Kevin's house is centrally located in Manistee, Michigan. We loved the public access to Lake Michigan right across the street. Lake Michigan is several inches higher this year so the beach is quite narrow; but that didn't stop our 4 grandchildren, their parents and Nana and Papa from building sand castles and having fun in the waves. On two of the days we were there (July 25 and July 27), we visited nearby 5th Avenue Beach in town which is right next to the Coast Guard Station and the lighthouse pier that you can walk on (if the lake is not too rough). That beach is wider and has a concession stand, playground equipment, and best of all, it is free! It was so convenient that Kevin's house is close to the beaches because we had children ranging in age from 9 months to 10 years old. We cooked most of our suppers at the house and enjoyed using the up-to-date kitchen appliances. My daughter also loved the quiet washing machine and dryer. The cottage has such cute and unique decor. We enjoyed the artwork and the special touches like the corrugated metal in the bathroom. My 3-year old grand-daughter was fascinated by the Statue of Liberty artwork in one of the bedrooms (do I see a trip to New York City in the future?) The large back deck was a bonus. It was so relaxing sitting there high up near the fir trees. The yard was beautifully planted and the fire pit right next to the house was perfect! Kim, the housekeeper, was a jewel. She was so friendly and gave us a wealth of tips for activities around Manistee like going to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. What awesome views from high up on the dunes over Lake Michigan! Of course, the grandkids thought the dunes were a huge sandbox and raced and rolled in the sand. Colin, our eight-year old grandson, actually ran up the highest dune in about 20 minutes (it usually takes adults about 1-2 hours) with his dad not far behind at 35 minutes! Kevin and Michelle, thank you for being such attentive hosts. You made your house so guest-friendly that it became our home away from home from July 22 through July 29! Our vacation in Manistee was made more enjoyable because of you!!

    Mary2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here. Kevin's place was immaculate. Beds and furniture were comfortable. Across the road from a clean and quiet stretch of Lake Michigan. Kevin's crew responded on every issue. Enjoyed the area activities and just hanging at the house. We were in Manistee for a family reunion and everyone had a great time.

  • M. James's Two Lakes is by far one of my favorite airbnb experiences I've had so far! My family and I had a great time! Kevin and his housekeeper had excellent communication with us throughout the experience and that is very much appreciated! Kevin left a binder full of instructions and recommendations. It definitely came in handy for ideas for food and activities! He was also so thoughtful to leave a bottle of delicious wine and beach toys for the kids use. I've never had an airbnb host be as hospitable! The property is absolutely beautiful and I loved the decor and renovations. My young nieces said they wanted to live there when they grow up- LOL! The location is prime; secluded in a quiet neighborhood but not too far from town. It is literally right across the street from Lake Michigan and a small public beach area! Once we discovered how close it really was to the beach area, we were there everyday! You have to take time to watch the sunrises and sunsets- absolutely breathtakingly, beautiful! Again, my family and I truly had a great time and we are hoping to visit again soon. Thank you so much!

    Kristina2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent locale. Excellent hosts. Kevin does a wonderful job of communicating with guests in the days and weeks before the visit. The 'cabin' is quite modern with all the best amenities. Lots of places to relax. The beach is a two minute walk from the front door. And Manistee is an under-appreciated gem. The river walk and the boardwalks are wonderful - especially the latter. Wonderful place to spend a few days - or longer.

This cabin on a large estate/wildlife sanctuary, & adjacent to MI Audubon, offers one of the best vacation locations. Look out over a beautiful section of a lake only 25 feet from the front door & private access to Lake Michigan. Attractive & Roomy.
  • This was everything we wanted out of cabin-great location, amazing property, and a very hospitable host.

    Michael2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Old Mill Cabin. It's in a really beautiful location. Charlie has thought of everything. There is a fire pit in the front yard, a beautiful deck out back, even a row boat and some canoes out back with life jackets provided. We also enjoyed the private beach on Lake Michigan. Barr Lake was great for paddling, nature watching and fishing, while Lake Michigan was great for swimming. We brought our stand up paddleboards and has fun using them in both lakes. The cabin itself was clean, cute and rustic. I have three tall sons so it was nice that they each had their own bed. The kitchen was well equipped and there was also a grill we could use. Charlie was an excellent host and even offered to let us use his tools when we had to replace the axel on our trailer. I would stay there again.

    Heather2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a delightful time, my wife and 3 kids and I. Charlie was always available at the main house about 100 yards away, but he largely left us to ourselves. The cabin provides a good measure of privacy, as it is separated from the main house by a large wooded copse of trees. There was plenty to do and many choices to while away the time: Make a fire out front in the fire pit; go fishing from the row boat, kayak or canoe; fish from the dock at the pond out back; relax on the rear deck; take the nearby path to the secluded beach on Lake Michigan only a 3 minute walk away (or the public beach 5 minutes away); drive to Manistee only about 4 miles away, etc. We also went fishing in Lake Michigan, off the lighthouse pier (and caught a huge bass). I was pleased that he had life preservers and all the boating necessities available. We all enjoyed paddling/rowing from his pond out to the larger lake (Bar Lake) about a 10-15 minute row away.

    David2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie is an awesome guy. He did everything to make this place hospitable and ideal for a weekend getaway. The cabin is fully furnished, extremely clean, and is by far one of the best cabins I have rented. Charlie even provided us with a rowboat and kayaks to use on the Lake! Would definitely look into renting from Charlie again.

    Ted2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie was a great host. We arrived late on a Friday & were given all details regarding the property earlier in the day, Charlie even turned on the gas fire & radio to make our late arrival wonderful! The cabin is even better in person than the pictures show, the cabin had everything we needed, it is across the street form Lake Michigan, 2 miles from the state park & only about 45 minutes from sleeping bear dunes or Traverse city as well as sitting right on the small inland lake the other side of the road from Lake Michigan, beautiful. The place was definitely perfect for us, we had a peaceful, relaxing weekend with everything we needed at the cabin or close by. We would definitely highly recommend Charlies place, especially for a romantic & relaxing weekend. Thank you charlie for a great stay!!!! Thanks James & Veronica

  • We had a wonderful weekend!! It was very relaxing and everything exceeded our expectations. Charlie was a great host. The kids had so much fun... they wanted to move in. They enjoyed the boats and the kayak. Our beach access to Lake Michigan was beautiful!!!

  • Charlie's cabin was perfect! We have a big family and Charlie's Cabin was able to accommodate us all. We arrived a for a relaxing weekend and that's exactly what we got. Charlie even has his own welcoming committee, his dog Duncan came running to give us a warm welcome when we got there. We really felt at home at Charlie's place. Very clean Cabin and Charlie had everything ready for us when we arrived. We even caught a few wide mouth bass and Norther Pikes using his paddle boat. The older kids took out the canoe and kayak for a bit too. We had a relaxing campfire both nights also. A wonderful weekend of fun and making memories and getting back to whats really important....family. It was truly a wonderful experience for all of us to stay at Charlie's place.

    Amy2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie keeps a nice place. The cabin has access to the water, and is a quick paddle into Bar lake. It's only a 5 minute walk to the Lake Michigan shoreline as well. Row boats and a kayak were provided. The fire pit makes for pleasant evenings, as well as grills for barbecuing. Fire wood was provided. The cabin is clean, comfortable, and very practical. All the amenities for a relaxing stay are provided. The location is great, only a 10 min drive into downtown Manistee, less than an hour south of Sleeping Bear Dunes, 30 min North of the Nordhouse Dunes. All in all a great place and I hope to return.

  • If you are looking for a unique experience, this will be for you! We had fun exploring the top three levels of the ship. There are chairs on the decks if you'd like to sit outside. The bedrooms are simple, mattresses comfortable, fans provided. You have to go out into the hall to use the bathrooms. This wasn't a problem however. Especially for one night. A light breakfast was waiting for us in the galley. They are continuously working on improvements to the ship. We look forward to going back.

  • Great experience for all of us. The tour is a must. My teenage boys loved it. Very historic. The beds we're comfortable, rooms clean. Not your typical place to stay. Very unique. A must do once.

  • Wow! What a find! We needed a place to in the area and came across this ship. Beautiful 1930s steamship created by the railroads. The elegance of the era very much in evidence - we felt like we were on the Orient Express. The lounge, staterooms, dining rooms, captains quarters - even the galley, smoking room, purser's office... down to details such as period Life Magazines on the lounge tables, "preserver" instructions in each stateroom, light fixtures,... really a special experience. Clean and comfortable as well. Linda met us on arrival and showed us around. She is very friendly and helpful. She took time to respond to our interests and questions as we began to discover what we had come upon in this beautiful ship. Not your usual, here's the room, here's the bathroom, here's the key... She also accommodated our tardy arrival (we called her with 'heads up'). We wound up taking a tour of the ship the following day which we highly recommend. The very knowledgeable tour guid took us into the engine room and explained the operation of the ship and the history of these lines that delivered rail freight cars across Lake Michigan, the elegant quarters for the train executives and other passengers. Highly recommended!

This cute, super clean condo is just the place for a couple to escape the busy city and relax in a beautiful setting with all the amenities provided. Lake Michigan is right across the street and short walk to the lighthouse pier. Charming Victorian city of Manistee is within walking distance or a short drive to shopping, movies and nice selection of coffee shops and restaurants. Some of Michigan's most beautiful golf courses are a short drive in the summer and skiing in the winter.
The master bedroom is a closed off loft which is unique and gives you a lot more space and privacy than an open loft. It sits on the marina and has a very private little deck to sit on enjoy a cup of coffee, read or just sit back and enjoy the scenery.
Harbor Village is a quiet little piece of heaven. It is right across the street from beautiful Lake Michigan and home to the Coast Guard. You can walk the pier to the light house or if you want to get more exercise there is a riverwalk downtown Manistee that goes for 3 miles.
  • Everything was Great!!

    Rob2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We expected a nice place, but Teresa's condo was better than we expected. Based on the description, I thought it would be tiny, but it is spacious and comfortable for a couple. Check-in and check-out were super easy. We were concerned that being at the harbor might prove noisy with boat traffic, but we were able to sleep in every morning. The unit is clean and well-maintained. Bed is comfortable. A/C & ceiling fans keep the condo temp comfortable when needed. Bedroom and bathroom upstairs are roomy. Boat traffic was minimal, even mid-summer. The condo is so convenient to walk to the beach. We took advantage of the nice outdoor pool too. The condo is near the indoor and outdoor pools, but windows face away, so you don't hear kids in the pool. If you haven't yet gathered, we are serious about our quest for quiet and relaxation. We brought our bikes, and Harbor Village is well-located for rides up Lakeshore to Onekama and beyond or through Manistee south to Filer Township. Teresa has equipped the kitchen with everything you need including Keurig coffee. She even provided chairs and equipment for a day at the beach. We love the area, and Teresa's condo was a great temporary home to explore Manistee.

Mid-century cottage with modern decor. Brightly decorated and lots of sunshine. Full home available for reunions or for a place to stay while biking the Manistee National Forest, or those looking to enjoy the fall colors or golf at Manistee National. Walking distance to Lake Michigan and its wonderful clean beaches with very few crowds. Not in the "tourist" trap but in a regular neighborhood so you can enjoy watching the deer and wild turkeys in the yard! Great place for business travelers
The whole house is available along with a very large backyard (including fire pit)
We are walking/biking distance to the great sandy beaches (yes the town has 2!) on Lake Michigan. And close to all of the small-town charm of downtown Manistee.

Our girls get-a-way to Michigan was perfect due to our stay in Larisa's home! The kitchen, dining room, and living room are spacious and the bedrooms were so comfy & cozy! The large backyard complete with a fire pit, was just delightful and there are plenty of games & movies available if you're looking for something to do indoors! It's located in a wonderful neighborhood and we were able to take day trips to the Ludington area and Traverse City to shop and visit wineries along with local attractions! • Larisa's home was a wonderful place to stay in Manistee. The house was clean and well-equipped. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. She was great to communicate with and the neighborhood was quiet and friendly. We made use of the bicycles, charcoal grill and like-new washer and dryer that she generously provided. Manistee has beautiful, clean, quiet beaches and we enjoyed walking on the river walk and through downtown in the evening. There was a wonderful playground nearby that our children really enjoyed. We would definitely like to return next year.

There is nothing like listening to the Lake MI waves crash on the shore. It will mesmerize you, lull you to sleep or invigorate you to take a walk on the beach! This is the view from your private balcony in this very well-built Lindal home just north of Manistee MI. The outer deck sits above the beach and you might think you are sitting on the bow of a boat. Enjoy a glass of wine while you watch the sunset and stay to star-gaze. This lovely setting is fabulous. You will want to return again!
The whole SECOND level of our home with private entrance. (The First floor is owner-occupied). This is a BnB. There is NO kitchen. This is the second level of the house with 2 bedrooms, a sitting room, full bath and large deck overlooking Lake MI. The main room on the second level is a very large room with King bed and Double bed, plus a rocking chair to read, relax and enjoy the fabulous Lake MI view from the 4 Panel French Doors, which open up to a private deck with patio chairs and table. There are 2 other rooms on the 2nd level, one small bedroom with Dbl bed and one sitting room with 2 Lazyboys, Keurig coffee machine, microwave and mini fridge, both on the streetside, sharing another large deck. We do offer abbreviated breakfast items; some fresh fruit and mini muffins or struedel, bottled water. Please note: there are NO cooking facilities. We do, however have a gas grill with all the bbq tools on the outer deck if you prefer to grill while enjoying the sun and beach.
Lake Michigan is footsteps away. Very low bluff and easy accessibility. We also have a large outer deck which sits right above Lake MI for enjoying the sunset, stars and surf!
  • Deanne and Lars were there to greet us as we arrived and made us feel welcome right away. They let us know, if there was anything we needed, to contact them right away. The view from the second floor balcony is amazing - Lake Michigan in all its glory. Our stay was lovely, peaceful and comfortable.

    Thomas2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Deanne's place is lovely. It looked like it had been decorated and fixed up just yesterday. We loved that it is right on Lake Michigan and enjoyed sitting on the deck as the sun set. We also appreciated having the whole second floor to ourselves.

    Daniel2016-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a quick 2 day stay here in the end of July. Deanne greeted us upon arrival and gave us a tour. We were able to use the 2 kayaks on the property and she had a well equipped snack and coffee area ready for us. She also had a book outlying the area restaurants and the menus which I thought was nice. The house is very near a roadside beach which was great to relax for the afternoon. Would come back if in the area again!

    jen 2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful experience Deanne was very welcoming and took care of everything. Deanne's Bed n Breakfast is the prefect get away the views are amazing and the water was prefect.

  • Dee and Lars are wonderful hosts! We so enjoyed visiting with them as we watched the breathtaking sunset over Lake Michigan. The view at Lakeshore B&B is unequaled! Whether you are on the deck steps from the beach or sitting in bed looking out over the lake, the view is spectacular! This was our second stay and we will indeed go back again and again!

    Jan2016-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • The location of this house is fabulous. Right on the edge of Lake Michigan, with a deck literally a few feet from the lake. The ambience around the house is so beautiful and pleasing. Deanne was always reachable, and so quick to answer any questions I had. We had a wonderful couple of peaceful days in Manistee, and we hope to be back again next year.

  • Such a perfect little place. We enjoyed our long weekend here and will definitely be back. The owners were very nice, accommodating, and helpful. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants a little peace and quiet with the most beautiful sunset. We even went on a day trip to Traverse City to visit some wineries. LOVED IT!

The Radio room is a great place for couples to stay. Done in a nautical theme, it is a nice bright room on our 1930's railroad car ferry. So step back in time and enjoy this very unique piece of history.
S.S. City of Milwaukee is a National Historic Landmark preserved and renovated to her original state. You can enjoy the beautiful common area's which are paneled in beautiful oak, or stroll the decks and enjoy the view of Lake Manistee. A small continental breakfast is served 7:30 am to 10:30 am in the passenger dining room. The passenger deck is accessible by a large staircase on the side of the ship, We recommend you pack lightly. We do have a chair lift available for those who have trouble climbing stairs. The restrooms on board are shared facilities. Two showers are available. There are no private restrooms on board. Check in is located in the Gift shop building on shore. Check in begins at 3pm until 7pm. Arrangements can be made for later check ins. Check out is by 11am. We do not have air conditioning on the ship but each room has at least one window and an electric fan. Chairs are available on the deck for you to enjoy.
The City of Milwaukee is located one half mile from historic downtown Manistee, and within walking distance of restaurants. Beautiful beaches and walking trails are a short ride away.
  • What an interesting place! By far the most interested AirBnB I've ever stayed in. Really fun. Make sure you understand what is included and what isn't in terms of amenities. It really is a fun place to stay. Quiet. Gets the job done. Worth the experience.

    Joshua2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is really a unique experience. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this. The view is fabulous and there is something very nostalgic about staying on an enormous 1930's ship. We stayed in the radio room which was small but more spacious than the typical ship quarters and did require actually walking a few steps from door unto the deck and then into the main quarters to use the shared bathroom. Breakfast was basic. There is no AC but the evening breezes off the lake made for cool, comfortable sleeping.

    Margret2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a different atmosphere and calm place to stay for the night definitely check in here. Very friendly and welcoming with a nice breakfast too! It was a great first Air BNB experience.

    Michelle2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was a such a fun and unique experience! I would highly recommend this place. Everyone who worked here was so welcoming and easy to find if we needed anything. It's a perfect distance from Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore! We loved it and will definitely be back :)

    Emily2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the most interesting places we've stayed. We enjoyed the history of the ship. Linda was very helpful and available for questions. The shared bathrooms weren't an issue at all. I would highly recommend staying on the ship. We'll most likely return for another stay ourselves.

The house has been completely renovated this year. Every room has new paint in designer colors. Two bedrooms have queen size beds while the third bedroom has a bunk bed with a full mattress on the bottom and a twin on the top. In addition, there is a fold away bed in the bedroom closet. The bedrooms each have comfortable mattresses and new linens. There is one bathroom that has been completely updated. It has an elegant pedestal sink and stand up shower. The elegant tile flooring continues into the kitchen. There is a full kitchen for you to use during your stay with a full sized refrigerator, stove, oven, and microwave. There are dishes, pots and pans for your use as well. There is also a washer and dryer for you to use during your stay. There is a window unit air conditioner although opening the brand new windows creates a nice cross breeze that normally is sufficient in this area of northern Michigan.
This cozy cottage is nestled in the most desirable area of Manistee. Only 2 blocks from the beautiful downtown on River Street where you can find lovely restaurants, shops, and festivals. The Vogue Theater located downtown has been completely restored and offers the latest movies at very reasonable rates. There is a lovely boardwalk that runs from downtown all the way to Lake Michigan. I suggest you grab a scoop of Moose Tracks ice cream from House of Flavors to nibble as you walk! If you are feeling lucky, you could head over to The Little River Casino only a 10 min drive away.
  • Our host, Ben made us feel right at home. He responded very quickly to any of our inquiries. The neighborhood was very well kept and quiet, with plenty of historic looking homes as neighbors. The home was tastefully decorated with photos taken in the Manistee area. The home was well stocked with everything we needed. Really loved seeing real flowers in the windowboxes! Beds were really comfortable, all seven of us got a great night's sleep. Nice touch having a coiled hose at the side door to rinse sand from our feet after a day at the beach. Hats off to a great host! Only thing we would like to see changed was our departure date, we did not want to leave! Would gladly recommend Ben's place to a friend. Sincerely, Stan and Jodi from Texas

  • This cottage is even better than the pictures suggest. Ryan was very accommodating and provided all the necessary information without even having to ask. The house was updated, clean, and located just a short walk away from the downtown area. Not one bad thing to say about this Airbnb.

  • Great space for 4 individuals, not super cramped like what you might expect from a cottage. The location was spot on, a short walk from downtown and short drive to some truly beautiful beaches. If you are visiting Manistee, definitely look up this place. Ben also did a great job of reaching out and making sure he gave us recommendations for what to do while on our trip.

  • This cottage is absolutely perfect for a northern Michigan experience. Less than a 5 minute walk to downtown Manistee and the river walk plus a 15 minute walk to a Lake Michigan beach. The space itself was perfect for the 4 of us and had plenty of extra space for a few others if you have a larger party. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our breakfast, lunch and dinners. Book this place I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Cheers!

  • After spending two days in the car it was so wonderful pulling up to this beautiful little home. Going inside was exactly like going home; so comfortable, inviting, cozy, and well taken care of! Kitchen had everything we needed, tv is there but we never really used it (too much to do!), rooms were spacious enough for our family, and wifi was helpful to have to look up things to do....that is, after we had done a lot of the things that Ben suggested! He gave us some great ideas!! We even used charcoals in the grill to roast some hot dogs and marshmallows for s'mores! We loved the location! About a mile away from the beautiful 5th Ave Beach, and a short walk to downtown. Manistee and surrounding areas are so beautiful, I really hope I can bring my family back!!!!! Thank you Ben for all the help you gave and letting us stay in this wonderful home! You are a great host!! Everything about this experience was wonderful!

There were small reminders (i.e. please ensure screens are closed) which were tasteful and helpful without making us feel like we were being scolded. The furnishings were tasteful and comfortable. Most importantly, the view of Lake Michigan was amazing and the series of decks and screen porch provided wonderful areas for rest, relaxation and connections with our family. Overall, this was a wonderful setting for a family getaway that provided beauty, comfort, tranquility and all the comforts of an extremely well maintained home.
