  • Outstanding stay at this peaceful abode. Convenient to small town quaintness and excellent dining, and still a stones throw to city arts and fine dining. This place is beautifully kept, impeccably clean and serenely quiet. Would highly recommend!

  • Thanks Christine and Greg! We had a great time. The house was exactly what I was looking for. I felt like I was in a hotel. We had everything we needed. I would definitely come back again.

  • We have always done well with Airbnb, and this experience was outstanding! We LOVED the landscaping! Complete privacy enabled us to enjoy it through the many windows all the time, even when we weren't outside. We had the very comfortable and extremely well supplied house all to ourselves--so many goodies in the very useful little kitchen, a complete housekeeping in the middle of our 6 day visit, and hosts who kept an eye on the place without intruding. We were too busy preparing for our daughter's wedding to get to know them as we would have liked. And easy access to the community on beautiful country roads--definitely 5 stars!

  • The guest house was exactly as described and perfect for a nice quiet weekend. We felt very welcome and loved the place as well as the nearby towns. I sincerely hope to make it back in the near future. Thanks so much!

  • Me and my husband had a weekend getaway at Christine's beautiful guesthouse. And it's indeed very beautiful and modern the reality is even better than the pictures. It's incredibly designed, every single detail is very considerate, the bed was so comfortable! It's very modern but yet you feel very close to nature. Lots of windows and very nice view from the deck. Its located in the back of the property land and you don't see the owners house, we were in complete privacy and surrounded by nature. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner, they had delicious zucchini bread for us as well as yogurt, orange juice and milk, and of coarse the coffee was incredible. All from very nice organic brands. The area was perfect for what we were looking for, there were lots of hiking trails around, beautiful state park beach, paddle boarding and kayaking. Lots of seafood restaurants. Highly recommend to visit the outdoor seafood grill place called The Place in Guilford town. Very fresh and fun local experience. We will definitely try to come back!

  • Christine and Greg kindly shared there gorgeous guest house and amazing garden over Easter weekend. The guest house was immaculate and beautifully designed. The kitchenette had drinks and snacks and the bathroom was beautifully fitted. The master room had an incredibly comfortable king size bed I loathed to leave ! Our boys had such fun playing in the 3 acre property and had a memorable and magical 7am easter egg hunt ! We will return to this special oasis. Thankyou, Jeannine and Buck

Our quaint + cozy cottage has all the character of a house that's been loved by a century of beach-lovers. Located on a quiet street, you can't help but relax sleeping less than 600' from the shore. Authentic cottage living-floors creek and linens are mis-matched, but it's all part of charm. Updated kitchen. Perfect in the summer, but just as beautiful in fall, winter + spring. Close to New Haven; great for parents wknds/grads. Working fireplace. Those from all backgrounds are welcome :)
This cottage is a lot roomier than it looks from the outside. There are 3 full bedrooms, one of which is outfitted with custom bunk beds (great for kids!). The upstairs level also has a "middle room" with a daybed with pop-up trundle. The kitchen is roomy and casual, stocked with plates, pots, and pans, and there's a full pantry space, too! Washer in dryer are also located in the kitchen. There are 1.5 baths inside the house, but there's also a full outdoor shower for rinsing off after the beach or to alleviate the line for the shower. The upstairs bunk room features 4 beds and is perfect for kids or single adults. Plenty of paperbacks and board games to use, too!
Our street is one of many that branch off and run into the CT Shoreline. Our neighborhood boasts private beach access for residents and renters.
  • This is an adorable cottage with all the amenities and very close to the beach and ocean.

    Amy2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • My sisters, niece and mother stayed at the cottage and all could not have enjoyed our time there more. It is so quirky and charming with tons of personal touches. It is amazing for little ones too. Kristen was so sweet and receptive and welcomed us on arrival. We will be back for sure! The place was a great value and the town was lovely with great amenities.

  • Just as described and the location us perfect!

    pam2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Two families (including 4 kids) stayed at Kristen's place during labour day weekend. We had such a great weekend. - The property was exactly as described/ shown in photos but even nicer in person. All the amenities listed were at the home as well. Our kids adored the ' bunk ' room (complete with curtains for each bunk) , the beach house is carefully decorated, the kitchen is gorgeous and the area where the home is located is so lovely. You can easily tell that the Powers put a lot of though and care into the home. - The beach is close by (2 minute walk) and the area is very family friendly. It was our first visit to ' Coastal Connecticut ' and I really enjoyed the area. - Kristen and her family were at the house when we arrived, were very welcoming and showed us the property as well as the beach. - Communication was excellent during our entire stay - and Kristen offered great suggestions via the guestbook and email for the one day it rained. Was very happy with our stay and look forward to returning soon!

    Andie2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very sweet house that comfortably accommodated our small family reunion with everything we could need. It's a short walk to a pretty and peaceful (in the season we visited) shoreline. Kids in particular will love everything about the cottage: cute bunkbeds, toys and safe neighborhood. It's the kind of place that looks like it has hosted many good times, and it gave us one too! Thanks so much, Kristen.

  • Nathalie was welcoming and quick to respond to our last minute requests and changes of plan. The house and grounds are beautiful--like a small farm. We enjoyed interacting with all the chickens, ducks, cats, pony, donkey, and alpaca. Note: The bedrooms are on the second floor has charming, sloping ceilings that are slightly challenging for anyone over 5' 5". The king size bed is very comfortable.

    Helaine2017-07-08T00:00:00Z

  • Well-located for Madison and Clinton access. Very nice home with comfortable sleeping. Very clean. Hosts are extremely welcoming - felt right at home.

    Julie2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the best airbnb experiences that I have had. Nathalie is extremely responsive and accommodating. Her property is beautiful and the room and bathroom are great - the bed is especially comfortable. We were in Madison for a wedding and this was the perfect place to stay! I would highly recommend this listing!

    Jessica2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nathalie was extremely hostpitable and made my daughter and I feel extremely welcome in her charming home. We especially enjoyed the bucolic setting, the tasteful furnishings and her extremely beautiful Siamese cat (we told her that it was okay for her not to keep the cat in her wing of the house.) On Saturday morning Nathalie made us a delicious breakfast with eggs from her farm. We would definitely return to this charming destination.

    Judith2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nathalie, and her husband, have a very lovely "country squire's farm", just off the beaten path in Madison. You'll rest well in the quite comfortable bedroom, and can enjoy a country surrounding, yet be quite close to shopping and good restaurants. Nathalie is an excellent host, and very responsive. I recommend her place highly.

    Ian2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay at Nathalie's. Close in location to downtown Madison, with cute shops and restaurants. Also a quick drive to Hammonasset State Park Beach. Perfect setting for a girls weekend. Comfy bed, charming farmhouse, and friendly animals. Nathalie made us a nice breakfast the morning we checked out. We could come and go as we pleased. She was very knowledgable about the area. Highly recommend!

  • We came back a second time because we loved it so much!

    Francesca2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved our time at Mary Jo and Ken's beautiful and peaceful home. We appreciated the ride from the train station, the clean and spacious room, and the refreshing breakfast. Thanks for a great time!

    Ryan2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mary Jo & Ken were great hosts - as were their three lovable dogs. We only spent one brief night, but the cozy private room was perfect for relaxing - that bed is so comfy! Though we had an early morning departure, Mary Jo was up with us and cooked a delicious breakfast. (Ask about her sour cream bundt coffee cake - it's the best.) Would definitely recommend staying here.

    Jody2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • what an incredible stay! hopefully we'll be back soon. Mary Jo and Ken are formidable hosts and they ensured our stay was more peaceful and comfortable than we could have imagined. Thank you so much!

    Francesca2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Shueys'. The house was charming, the room was well-provisioned and comfortable. The area is lovely. No shortage of what to do. Had a couple of exceptional seafood dinners and made a day trip up to Mystic which we loved. The hosts were congenial and their doggies only added to the charm. We'd go back in a heartbeat!

    Carol2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Mary Jo’s and Ken’s was a great experience! Not only was the room and the whole house really charming and cozy, but the host themselves were what made our stay really special. What we especially enjoyed was the friendly and warmhearted atmosphere. It was always a great pleasure to chat with Mary Jo and Ken and have inspiring conversations – whether it was during one of their fondly prepared breakfasts or just for a glass of wine in the evening on the porch. We’d be really happy to come back some day and meet those guys again.

    Jörg2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable and very clean room and bathroom. A quiet and relaxing sleep in a lovely wooded area, but also close to the highway and town so easy to get around. Mary Jo, Ken and the dogs are all friendly and welcoming. I will definitely plan on coming back.

  • If you are looking at a nice place to stay bordering the Long Island Sound, this is it. We are novices to the Air BnB experience - so we were a little nervous as to what to expect this first time out. This home exceeded our expectations. Nice and quiet. Our guest (Todd) was awesome. He kept us up to date throughout the process. Check-in was super easy. Location was ideal. Within walking distance to the beach. Met several of the neighbors who were also super nice. We would definitely stay there again.

    Robert2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Todd's house is exactly as described - quiet, quaint, and a VERY short walk to the beaches. We were able to comfortably fit four adults and 2 kids (1 and 3) and didn't feel on top of one another. The house comes with a lot of the things you would need (sand chairs, towels, stocked kitchen utensils, even a hair dryer!) for a comfortable few days at the beach. Todd is also available for any questions and is very communicative. We would definitely stay here again.

    Kristina2017-08-06T00:00:00Z

  • My wife and I spent one night with Alisha. Her house truly became our home. She is so gracious and provides amenities found in the best B&B's and hotels. And as others have written, her two dogs truly are the sweetest ever. Do not hesitate one second. Rent from Alisha.

  • George is a phenomenal and very hospitable host. His house is central to most places in Madison and was perfect for a weekend trip to CT. I highly recommend it.

    Taryn2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • George's attention was impeccable! Being there exceeded expectations based on website. My son and George really hit it off. Fully recommend.

    Kim2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • George's house was perfect for our extended stay and he was truly a great host. The house has everything you could ever need and has plenty of common space to gather around and hang out as a family. The backyard was great, so we spend a lot of time grilling after a day at the beach. The location is very secluded and quiet which is great after a day at the beach or the hustle and bustle of work day. The beach is only a short drive away, which truly made the location for us. The Madison Beach Club, Guilford Bistro and Elizabeth's were some of our favorite spots and come highly recommended! George went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and even gave us a couple free beach passes which was so thoughtful. We will definitely be back, you really cannot beat the value! Enjoy!

    Caitlyn2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • George is a thoughtful host, even providing a Christmas tree for our holiday stay. Bed is comfortable and showers in both bathrooms are strong. Kitchen is well-stocked and we enjoyed preparing a pot roast in the crockpot for a family gathering. Good WiFi signal. Location is quiet yet only about 5 minutes from I-95.

    carol2017-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • George’s home is spacious and well appointed. It was just perfect for our long stay awaiting our new home. Everything we needed was available: good kitchen facilities, laundry facilities, and extensive well kept grounds. The location was beautiful and serene. GG, as he prefers to be called, was extremely helpful and very responsive. A super host for sure and a wonderful person. We will always value our friendship with GG.

My guesthouse is minutes to Beaches, New Haven, Train Station and Outlets! It's cute and cozy. the ambiance, the outdoors space, the people... Seasonally, I have gardens full of flowers and veggies that you can pick and enjoy. Semi-private hot tub where you can relax and let go! Comfortable for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, travel nurses, families (with kids), and pets. Great Academic or long-term rental! Long term rentals will get a special offer when requesting dates!
Great for two adults and two children or up to four adults. No more than four total guests at a time! A nice large yard to throw a ball with your friendly dog! I even have tennis balls and treats! Schedule a your time in the spa!
  • Emily’s place was perfect. I was in town on business and we were hit by a terrible wind and rain storm which took out the power for several hours. Emily provided extra blankets to keep warm as well as extra candles. She also was in constant contact with the utility company to see when the situation would be remedied. The location felt secluded and private, but still very close to town. The guest house was very clean and comfortable. Will definitely book here again on future visits.

  • Cute place, Emily was a great host! I recommend The Log Cabin Restaurant for dinner (go hungry!!) and What’s Cooking for breakfast! There’s also a great Italian deli that’s on a side road...Bradley and Wall Gourmet Foods on Wall St., off RT. 1 - Soooo good!! Emily has a great yard and our dogs loved it there!! It was very quiet, yet close to everything! The beaches seem nice (I was there in December) and the ride by the water near surrounding towns was nice, I can only imagine how nice it is in the summertime. I would recommend and I would stay again.

  • If you have the chance to stay at this little getaway- do it!!! This was the most perfect place to relax and enjoy ourselves out of NYC. Emily's place was much bigger than anticipated and included everything we ever could have needed and more! We enjoyed a fire in the chiminea and loved her garden full of fresh goodies! Emily was so extremely helpful and responsive (and so much fun!). We couldn't have felt more at home here and we will definitely definitely be back! Thank you, Emily!!!!

  • Very accommodating host and super friendly! We enjoyed our stay and loved the house! Very quiet and relaxing which is just what you need when traveling so much! Also, try Jia Mei 4 miles down the road! Yummy Chinese food!

  • We stayed in both of Emily’s listings over a period of three months. We could not have been happier with our multiple stays in Emily’s apartment and guest house. Emily is a super host and the listings are top notch. Our dog Sunny enjoyed her property as well. In the future, if we return to Connecticut, we would love to stay at Emily’s place again.

  • Host is cordial and accommodating. A bit more attention to cleaning prior to our arrival would have made for a better stay. Check the photos carefully; there are no curtains, shades or drapes - at least ones that block out light, or ones for privacy - in the bedrooms, livingroom, dining room or kitchen. Guesthouse is one of many buildings on a large property, so there were others walking/driving by our windows. We had use of the yard and garden, which was nice.

    Vera2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Emily's Guesthouse is so pretty and cute! The house is wonderfully decorated with enough space for a party of 4. Check-in and parking are very easy with Emily's great communication. It was really feeling like home with the coffee and chocolate. Thank you Emily for the awesome host! My family and I had a great time!

    Jing2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the cottage for 52 days while we were between homes. Emily was a very gracious host, and responded quickly and happily to any of our requests. The cottage was so cozy and decorated in an adorable seashore theme and included every amenity you could need. I only wish we could have stayed for the warmer weather as flowers are popping up all over and the hot tub area outside looks like it is going to be quite nice!

Welcome to the River House! This is a charming year round insulated vacation home built in the 1920s and holds its character really well. Right on a salt water marsh and river that leads to the ocean, hop in one of the kayaks and explore!
The River House is within a private community with pleasant year round and seasonal neighbors.
  • This is a cute, rustic cottage with stellar views of river, saltmarsh, and birds. It has wonderful big windows and plenty of sun--we could have hung about all day watching birds from the living room! We stayed there in December during a historic cold snap and tested the winterization of this summer cottage--we were comfy, but bring your slippers for the chilly kitchen floor! This is a great location between Madison and Guilford close to beaches, bookstores, art cinema, and good restaurants. Our top recommendations: clam chowder and lobster rolls at Lenny & Joe's, RJ Julia (bookstore in Madison), and Bishop's Orchards in Guilford. This was a new rental and just a few minor things were missing (milk for coffee, hand towels and washcloths in the bath) but Hunter was extremely responsive and friendly. We had a great stay and hope to come back in summer to try out the kayaks!

  • The River House is magical! It's a sweet, rustic house set on the bend of a river overlooking a marsh. The views from the living room and kitchen are lovely; you can sit and watch the birds in the trees and the river flow right through your "front yard." It's set in a neighborhood but feels very private and comfortable, and it's only minutes from both downtown Guilford and Madison. The house is well stocked and clean with nice bedding and towels. Hunter is wonderful. He responded to questions immediately and his instructions were clear and helpful. We can't wait to return!

Close to CT shoreline. 4 bdrm, 2 bath, 2,200 sq ft home on dead end street, across from Meadow River. Great bird-watching! Mid-week specials available. Pets ok. Walk to Town Green, restaurants & shopping. Fully-equipped kitchen. Wood-burning fireplace. Clean, airy, peaceful space. Eclectic art & beach-comber decor. Large back yard and patio for functions, family gatherings, weddings and relaxing. Historic property was once a button factory! Original chestnut, wide-board floors.
Artist's own beautiful spacious 2,200 sq ft home. Peaceful and quiet location on a dead-end street. This house has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and sleeps 8, max. Close to the beach. (Just a 10 minute drive away.) This home includes fully equipped kitchen and a large deck. Flatscreen TV. Wood-burning fireplace, comfortable arm chairs, bookshelves filled with wonderful books by local authors. The home is decorated with original artwork and quirky beach-comber decor such as shells, sea-glass, driftwood sculptures and vintage furnishings. The large yard is across from the Meadow River. Herons, gulls, shore birds are regular visitors. Popular spot for bird-watching! Coffee shops, galleries, Guilford Town Green are all just a short walk away. Dead end street, fireplace, huge deck, beautiful original, chestnut wide-board floors. This home has a unique history of early Americana. The property was originally built as a button factory. Early American fashions of the late 1700's to mid-1800's required many buttons on both male and female garments. Buttons were even essential to underwear, shoes, corsets and women's basque waist. Buttons of the time period were made of ivory, bone, shell, wood, stone, glass, whale bone or animal horn. While we don't know all the details, this property served as a factory, producing and selling buttons to clothiers of the Guilford and CT shoreline area. The price is right for this house! For one person to rent a hotel room in a Hotel in Guilford, the price is $160. I feel these prices are very fair for 8 people. We do our utmost to ensure the property is clean, crisp, welcoming and affordable for guests.
Yale University is 15 mins from the house. Also there are the Clinton Outlets for shopping and dining only 5 mins away. The casinos- Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casino and are a close ride as well for anyone visiting them. *** Please note: we offer three homes on the Connecticut shoreline as vacation rental properties. These properties are located in Old Saybrook and Guilford. We take great pride in caring for our guests, accommodating and tending to their needs and comfort. Our homes are designed with local art and treasures to reflect our love and passion for the historic shoreline area. Our goal is to provide a setting where you, your family and your friends can enjoy, relax and create memories that will last a lifetime. Our reviews testify to this and consistently reveal the happiness and joy our guests have experienced while staying with us. Plan a visit and see for yourself what our homes are all about.
  • My friends and I had a fantastic fall retreat to this home and had a fantastic stay. The home is a very cozy in a quiet neighborhood. The home is small and quaint, but we really enjoyed making use of the back deck and large yard. Everything in the home was clean and comfortable. Yvette was very quick in responding to my request and was easy to get ahold of to get instructions for getting into the house. Overall, it was a very enjoyable and smooth stay.

  • A truly beautiful house. Would recommend for any getaway with a gang of friends who love to cook together and hang out in a charming space.

  • My parents, sister, husband and baby enjoyed a nice, relaxing weekend in Guilford, CT. Yvette's place is as advertised. The house was clean and welcoming upon arrival. Check-in was easy via lock-box. We loved that it was within walking distance of the town square and shops/restaurants. Yvette was communicative and was easy to get ahold of. We were hoping to check-in early, and luckily we were able to, because the cleaners turned the place around fast (I think because there was only one couple who stayed there the night before). I would note and advise guests to take a close read at house rules -- it was requested that we start the dishwasher upon leaving, take the trash to the cans outside and put any chairs/furniture back where we found them, if we had moved them at all. These rules were not problematic to us, because just wanted others to know to be sure to read the instructions carefully upon arrival. Thanks for a great stay and we hope to be back!

  • My husband and I stayed at the Purple Button Factory in guilford, CT. We stayed June 19th thru June 26st 2016, for a family function in Branford CT; which was only about 20 minutes away. When we arrived, no one was there to meet us or answer any questions. I called Yvette to let her know we arrived. Yvette instructed us on how to get into the house, which was successful! The house is spacious and has that old house charm, the pictures that are on the Airbnb listing was what we expected when we arrived. Big yard, big back deck, and a fire pit in the back yard which we used a couple of times during the week, it was a nice treat. The kitchen if fully functional, however, I did bring some kitchen must haves from home which I was I glad I did! The green is around the corner, nice shops, etc. The public beach is about 10 minutes away! Guilford is a lovely community. :)

Located in sleepy Westbrook, Ct and across the street from Long Island Sound, this beach house is spacious with a full kitchen, dining, and living room. A back yard area for children to play and parents to barbeque is included.
There is a generous amount of living space. A full kitchen, large dinning room and a living room with seating for 8.
Generally it is a very quiet neighborhood. The Fourth of July is a busy week and it is slightly busy during the summer but being a small neighborhood with a dead end street it is much quieter than most beach areas. It is sleepy in the Autumn, Spring and Winter.
  • Kiki provided a most welcoming place for our family. The decor was comfortable and Kiki made everything very easy. We were in Connecticut for a funeral and Kiki's home was the perfect respite to be alone with our family of four.

    Jayne 2015-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed one night here. Great location. One row of houses back from the beach but the ocean can be seen from two upstairs bedrooms inbetween the houses in front. Beach access is about a minute or less walk from the house. The house is fairly basically furnished but very comfortable, clean and tidy. Kiki was very easy and friendly to communicate with during the booking and came to check on us when we arrived. She lives next door. In fact this house is attached to her house and I assume it was originally a single family home and the divided into two. One thing that I would point out is that the soundproofing between Kiki's house and the rental house is not very good at all. It was possible to hear quite clearly conversations through the dividing wall and probably through an AC duct that comes through the dividing wall from Kiki's side. I was worried that our two young boys who woke up really early on the Sunday morning and excited to be in a different house were disturbing Kiki and her family's peaceful Sunday morning. This is the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars. I think the division of the house was probably done quite a long time ago and these days I think the noise between units could be drastically improved with the use of Roxul insulation (fireproof and virtually soundproof) and Quietrock sheetrock which is way more soundproof than regular sheetrock.

  • I loved staying at this charming beach cottage. It is just as described, located just across the street from the Sound, in a quiet neighborhood with nice views of the water. It has plenty of space and is outfitted with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Communication with Kiki was great, and check-in/check-out could not have been easier. A great choice for anyone visiting the area!

  • I stayed here for one night in January and the house was perfect for our gang of six. Of course it being the middle of winter we could not take full advantage of the beach front location but did walk out to their little beach which is nice. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed and the hosts were very welcoming.

  • We had an amazing time at Kiki's place! It was clean and so nicely laid out for our 2 small families:) the location is to die for! So close to the beach:) we loved listening to the water when we sat out at the campfire at night. Kiki and her husband are both amazingly sweet individuals:)

  • This was a lovely place to stay... Steps away from the beach, with all the amenities of home. We didn't have much time to spend with our hosts, but communication was a breeze and it was great to meet them (and their cute dog) out in the yard. I would highly recommend this BnB to families and couples! Thanks for the great stay.

  • My sister and I went to Madison for a weekend away from the city and had such a great time. Kevin and Mia were terrific hosts. They were there to answer any questions and help out but also gave us our space. The entire space had such a homey feel. We enjoyed the campfire outside as well.

  • Wonderful place to stay. Hosts are wonderful, and the muffins equally great! Highly recommended!

  • Everything about our stay was perfect - from the location right off Route 1 and 95, to the warm muffins and coffee for breakfast to being supplied with towels and bathroom supplies (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc). We also got to enjoy the fire pit and can honestly not think of anything they could do to improve the space.

    Rachel2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Mia and Kevin have a lovely place. They are such wonderful and warm hosts. This was more like a bed and breakfast than an Airbnb. Our expectations were beyond met. The place was clean, cozy and beautiful. Lots to do just a small drive away. We look forward to coming back here for sure! Thank you Mia for everything you did to make us feel comfortable and at home.

  • Kevin for accommodated our quirky schedule with gracious hospitality. We enjoyed our brief stay at their charming place so much and look forward to returning. We highly recommend this place. It’s just wonderful. They provide coffee, tea, littlr extras—the beds are so comfortable! Madison and Guilford are gorgeous little towns right outside New Haven and a treat to visit.

  • Highly recommend for the price and the outstanding accommodations and privacy. Kevin’s place goes above and beyond to ensure guests have everything they need for a comfortable, lovely stay. We were there while visiting family and their place was a welcome respite, from the decor to the amazing shower to the kitchenette and homemade muffins. It’s private and cosy and allowed us to enjoy the shoreline quite close to New Haven with easy access to I-95 and RT 1. Thank you!

We are sharing our "happy place". Cozy, family-friendly cottage has everything you need to enjoy a lovely vacation in a quintessential New England town. Ideally located between Guilford's famous green, gorgeous harbor and town beach, easily walk everywhere. High-season/weekend rate reflected in general view--check for actual. Recommended for groups of up to 4 (5 if with kids), more that that can be accommodated but will be close quarters (unless short stay, or "home base" for active people).
This is a 1 bedroom with a queen bed, 2 closets and dresser space. Sunroom "big bed" is a king bed but also serves as a great place to lay back and enjoy movies, wii or a great book. It is adjacent to main living area with a pass through and open doorway, so we've installed a curtain over the pass through and provide a screen that can be placed by the doorway to allow for some privacy. Gather around a puzzle or classic game in the living room with ample room for family and guests. The dining area table expands to seat 6 to 8 and the hutch is stocked with linens and serving ware. Large galley kitchen is stocked with plenty of cookware, dishes, glasses and more. The favorite spot in the house is out of the house on the screened porch. Comfy seating on sturdy antique wicker, or relax on the lounge chair. We even placed a small table and chairs for those who want to eat al fresco without the bother of bugs. The chest is loaded with games and puzzles for hours of device-free enjoyment. Huge side yard is great for badminton or other yard games. Also has a hammock for a lazy afternoon nap. Small patio off the screen porch has a small bbq and table and chairs for outdoor cooking and dining. (Seasonally) We have adult bikes (2 vintage style beach bikes; 1 mountain bike), yard games, beach and camp chairs, beach and rain umbrellas and more. Driveway accommodate 2-3 cars.
This is the absolute best location for an easy breezy vacation or getaway. Walk or bike in any direction a half mile or less to the town green, the harbor, Jacobs beach, the Whitfield Museum, and the fairground. You can truly enjoy a week or all summer without going any further than walking distance. And if your like me and prefer to not cook, this place is all about the food...OMG, truly seriously good eats everywhere you turn. Around the charming and historic Guilford Green, you'll find incredible shops from browsing, basics, to splurging, thrift, gift and boutiques and don't miss Pages Hardware! And eateries abound that cover just about every desire -- from the best hash and eggs at Sunny side Up to exquisite desserts at Hen and Heifer. Grab coffee and a panini, sweets or a scone at Cilantro, Ice-cream and chocolate at the Village Chocolatier, a slice or a whole pie at Centro Pizza, or fresh deli and fresh provisions at the Guilford Market, or some tacos or fresh fruit salad off the food trucks. Experience cheese fondue and a wine flight at Ballou, excellent seafood and Italian fare at Quattro, a cold Guinness and corned beef at Augers, terrific Thai at Som Siam, or a range of wonderful American fare at South Lane. Pick up your beer and wine at our two liquor stores, or belly up to the bar or play pool at Sheppard's Tavern. The green hosts many music and theatre events and craft fairs, and on a non event day, it is a great place for a walk or a sit. Head to the harbor and take a tour boat ride from Bill around the sound, or bring a bottle of wine or beer and enjoy lobster roll and clam chowder at The Lobster Pound. Hear some local bands and have a local pint at The Mooring. Or for a meal with a view, simply pack a picnic and take a seat at the picnic tables at the harbor or at Jacobs beach. My favorite off-green food choices and still walkable are Buffalina for brick-over pizza and a terrific salad (best pizza ever!). Toast to your holiday with an excellent glass of wine sharing delicious appetizers and entrees at the Guilford Bistro. And for family fun, sit on a stump at The Place and let them do the bbqing for you (byob). Spoon up some yummy froyo at Sweet Frog or a savor a cone of fresh made ice cream at Ashlee's. The fairground kicks off the season with a Lobsterfest the weekend before the 4th, then is home base for a parade and fireworks around the 4th of July, and closes the season in late September with the famous Guilford Fair. Look for other events in between. Fall and holiday events as well! Guilford has numerous parks, and also a public 9-hole golf course. And if golf is your game, drive 10-20 mins in any directions and you'll land on a lovely course. No need to drive anywhere, but if you seek adventure: - The Thimble Island boat tour our of charming Stony Creek, just 15 mins south. - Neighboring towns of Branford, Madison, and Clinton, all have lovely greens, events, and countless things to do. - A day at the state park beach, Hammonasset, 15 mins north. - 30 mins north on the Connecticut River, The town of Essex, with the famous Griswold Inn for a great meal and music, and try our the Essex Steam train and Riverboat ride. - Perhaps you would like to take in a show at the Ivoryton Playhouse or Goodspeed Opera House, both feature great musicals and dramas. - 1 hour north is Mystic and Niantic, one big harbor town, one small, and both have great food, views and entertainment. - 20 mins south (or take the train) to New Haven. - Drive to north Guilford, Branford or Durham, and get farm fresh anything you can think of from local farms and farm stands. - And both Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods casinos are less than an hour away. - outdoor activities too many to list --- hike, kayak, boat, sail, to name only a few! If you enjoy "tastings", there are 4 local breweries, quite a few local stops on the CT wine trail, and a few cheese trail stops along the scenic drives in the area. There is just so much to do, I cannot list it all, but we'll leave you all our favorite "adventure days" and placed to dine at the house.
  • What a complete pleasure - Jeanne was an outstanding hostess who thought of every detail. From snacks and goodies to wifi and pjs, she treated us like family. I'm from the area, so I can tell you this home is a perfect location to take in all the sights and experiences of the CT shoreline. Close to the beach and town center, with quick access to Route 1 to explore beyond Guilford. We just can't say enough about the accommodations and Jeanne and will definitely be back again!

  • This is a lovely cozy cottage a stone's throw from the train station and a nice walk to the Green. Jeanne is super helpful and easy to communicate with. Our kids (5-10) loved it. Some fun board games. We really appreciated the great snacks Jeanne left for us.

  • We couldn't have asked for a better stay. The fridge was stocked with snacks and water, which was incredibly useful given our late night arrival. The house is beautiful. It was too cold to use the porch, but the sun room was glorious. We really hope we can stay here again.

  • Close to what everyone comes to Guilford for. Perfect spot if you are taking the train in and out of town. Jeanne's attention to details and thoughtfulness are a breath of fresh air. Is a little tight for 6 unless you are a close family or people who really like one another. We were happy there as we really like one another. Lovely to be able to arrive, park the car and walk where we wanted to be. Thanks.

Jeanne made great suggestions for nearby restaurants and shopping, as well as local attractions. The house is adorable, very clean and thoughfully furnished. The location is excellent, and you can take great walks to town, the harbor and the beach. We really enjoyed this stay. It was a great way to stay near family.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Jeanne's place. A very charming and comfortable house half way between the town green and its amenities and the beach area and marina. We loved exploring the town. There is lots to explore nearby. Jeanne is a fabulous host, organized, accommodating, welcoming, and generous. We enjoyed our stay very much, would recommend it to others and hope to come back.

  • This may be the best hidden gem we've found on Airbnb in the Northeast ... seriously! Great host, great house. We spent a 4day, fall weekend at the house and could not have been happier -- the amenities, the location, and the entire town of Guilford. Perfectly pet friendly with plenty of parks and trails nearby. And an easy walk to town green, restaurants, the marina, Guilford train station, Beach, and more. We seriously loved it!

Our house is located on a private road with contemporary homes. It's not a through street, and is quiet and safe to jog or walk for a little exercise. If you enjoy hiking, if you take a right off my driveway there is a hiking trail just 4 houses down and across my street. It follows the Hammonassett river. I have posted a picture of its sign with more info about it. For more hiking plus swimming fun, Chatfield Hollow state park is just minutes away on Rte. 80 in Killingworth. If you enjoy fishing take a left off my driveway and proceed to the end of my street where you will find a bridge over the Hammonassett river and a very popular local fishing spot. Please remember to have your fishing license with you as it is monitored often. We are also just minutes away from the Hammonassett State park !! , Madison center, the train station and much more shoreline fun.
  • A beautiful location and beautiful home. It was very easy to find with cute chalkboard signs personally welcoming us and informing us where to park, enter, etc. Gorgeous, comfortable space!

  • This is a spectacular place, and the pics don't really do it justice--amazing sense of space with the cathedral ceiling, and yet also plenty of places to curl up with a book. It was also spotless. Kathryn was the perfect host--warm, friendly, prompt, and attentive to the small details. Perfect location too, if you like the CT shoreline, with Hammonasset park and downtown Madison just a few miles away. We would definitely stay again!

    Jim2017-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Kathryn's Airbnb was lovely. The towels were very nice and it was very quiet. It is very spacious and the decorative touches make it feel like home. We didn't actually meet Kathryn; but, I texted with her during our stay and that made it simple to communicate any questions. This Airbnb is tucked away in a residential community and Kathryn's directions made it easy to find. We would definitely stay here again.

    Jane2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kathryns place is so spacious, clean, and is exactly as portrayed in her listing. She is very attentive to your needs and is so friendly. Fully equipped kitchen was do nice. A lot of work went into making this the perfect place to hang your hat. There is a beautiful deck off the dining area which overlooks a beautiful pasture that had cows and horses. There is great value in staying at this property. You will not be Dissapointed.

    joanne2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Kathryn’s place is situated in a beautifully private area that is also close to many great sourthern Connecticut charms. The space is exceptionally neat and clean (as pictured). It has nearly every convenience you might want. From the back deck you can even enjoy the charms of a cow pasture. Highly recommend the space. Kathryn is a real sweetheart, too. She’ll take care of you!

The Connecticut Retreat was built by a pair of New Yorkers who wanted a "spiritual and artist retreat" convenient to NYC but far from the fast-paced lifestyle of the City. The Retreat is situated on 10 wooded acres surrounded by 1000 acres of forest. Take a short walk through the woods to the swimming lake with a sandy beach. The compound is located on an ancient country road and is a short hike to pristine lakes and miles of trails. Great for family vacation or short-term corporate relocation.
The Tree House is an airy, bright, open, and secluded guest cottage that is perched high within the tree tops on a ridge overlooking Connecticut State Forests. The House is a 1,000 sq. ft., custom-designed studio, with 20-foot high windows and 12 foot doors that open onto a 300 sq.ft. wrap-around deck with a spectacular view of a roaring brook and over a 1000 acres of forest. It's like being in a tree house -- breath-taking and expansive. The Connecticut Retreat is remote but convenient to the culture of Chester with its Goodspeed Opera House, the charm of Essex with the panoramic beauty of the Connecticut River; and the Hammonasset Beach on the shoreline of Long Island Sound -- all within 8 miles. The Connecticut Retreat is 100 miles from New York City or Boston, 15 minutes away to MetroNorth trains in Clinton and 20 minutes to the Amtrak station in Old Saybrook, 40 minutes to Metro North in New Haven or Bradley Airport in Hartford. Search CTretreat for more information and photos.
  • This is an absolutely fantastic house in the woods. If you want quiet and comfort, nature and relaxation - this is your place. It is somewhat remote but easily accessible. If you are looking for a big flat screen TV then that's not the place for you - this place is serene - no big entertainment needed (in my opinion) but it is not rustic, it's very comfortable, it's a home beautifully decorated and furnished. Just note that if you have T-mobile you won't have reception out there but there is wifi so you can communicate using the internet/data. If you don't like dogs this might not be your place either, the labs are roaming the grounds (as clearly mentioned in the description) but are awesome creatures, lovely, well-behaved and fun. Paul is a perfect host: Always there when you need him but does never give you the feeling that he is looking over your shoulder or checking in on you unnecessarily. We hope to travel there again, for sure!

    Daniel2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem of a space, almost do not want to praise it as much as I will , to keep it to ourselves. So serene , uniquely peaceful... pure zen. The ride in is 'up' hill and needs a strong vehicle for certain. The space is open and the windows into the woods truly create the treehouse effect...pure fantasy.

    Terri2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our family spent 11 nights at the Tree House in Killingworth. We enjoyed the quiet seclusion of a property surrounded by trees, and the warm atmosphere of the house itself. The main thing to be aware of is that you really do need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to make the steep climb up to the guest house. Our car only had front wheel drive, so we parked down below and made the walk back and forth each day (about a 5 minute walk, at least with kids). Paul transported us and our luggage in his SUV up to the house when we arrived.

    Wayne2016-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place is very secluded but there is a lovely park only a few minutes walk down the road. The beach and anything else you would need is no more than 25 minutes away. This is great for a quiet weekend getaway and perfect for groups. We had 6 people and it was a perfect place to play card games and hangout for a calm weekend. Friendly labs live on the property which was a great plus. You definitely need a car that can drive up a tough steep hill. Paul was beyond great. One thing to note is that the sliding doors don't lock.

    Emily2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • The host canceled this reservation 3 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

    Rachel2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, rustic large cabin, with lots of crafty and beautiful decorations. Beautiful view through the forest. Very secluded. Also note, at the top of a very steep hill. We came in the dead of the CT winter, and it was tricky making it up in a sedan, plus, the cabin isn’t centrally heated. It left some drafty, cold areas when the outside temperatures were in the single digits. The other three seasons wouldn’t have this problem at all. Paul worked hard to make sure we had a good experience.

    Ed2017-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This place allows you to feel like you’re escaping deep into the wilderness, while only really being a few miles away from the local stores and restaurants in case you find yourself needing anything. The place was exactly as described & slept 5 comfortably. We had our 5 & 8 year old daughters with us & they really enjoyed the loft area that was well stocked with board games and DVD’s. Paul was a wonderful host, he met us outside upon arrival & immediately made us feel welcome. He gave us some nice tips about the local area & also had the house well stocked with additional information on it.

    Joe2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Private wooden cabin. Very quiet and neat. I didn't have the opportunity to use the bond fire outside or to grill on the big porch but I'm sure it would've been very nice. Everything you need is there. With the exception of simple things such as food/toothbrush etc... I hope to be back.

  • Lawrence's place was the perfect place for me and stop in to get a good night's rest before picking up my daughter from school for the weekend. The house was spacious, clean, and my bed was roomy with a comfortable bed and good Wifi. I have stayed in Lawrence's AIRBNB house in New Haven, and this was an equally good experience. Thank you Lawrence, for being a great host and offering your rooms at affordable prices.

  • Very spacious room and a lot of free from, but also privacy within the house. One other person was staying in a different room at the same time and we never got in eachother’s way once. If I’m in the area, this is a place I’d look to stay again

Madison is a quintessential Connecticut village with easy access to New Haven (Yale), and NYC. Escape from the city to our peaceful retreat. Great shopping at two nearby Outlets. The Stony Creek Brewery, Chammard Vineyard, Thimble Islands, are nearby. Browse boutiques & shops in the village or just relax in our cozy retreat! * Please see "other things to note" re add'l charges. ** Starting Memorial Day Weekend we will have a 3-night minimum stay**
One of our guests said to us "the Madison Beach Hotel has nothin' on you" :) So plan to stay at Greenfield Cottage and save a lot of money…you won't regret it. Should you want to have a cocktail or dinner at the MBH, you're just a couple of minutes away. When we are home, we share the cottage with our two fat cats. So…if you are allergic to cats, Greenfield Cottage might not be the place for you.
  • What a wonderful stay we had - we were so pleased and comfortable. We are now worried that other Airbnb places will not live up (this was our first experience with AirBnB). The kitchen is phenomenal and the entire house was kept so nicely. Susi's hospitality and her attention to detail was noticed and greatly appreciated. This entire experience was so easy and stress-free. We would highly recommend this cottage and hope that we will have a chance to stay again - perhaps in the autumn some time because the grounds would be absolutely spectacular.

    Kathryn2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful energy and style to this home. Our best airbnb experience yet!

    jeremy2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable and clean living space in a beautiful setting. The host kindly provides some food- enough to get one started without having to immediately make a trip to the grocery store. FYI, one bedroom has a slightly larger bed but the other has more space to spread out; for two couples sharing the house, this might be worth discussing beforehand. If you like to run or bike, be aware that Green Hill Road, the main drag, is narrow and has a surprising amount of traffic. Downtown Madison (especially the R J Julia bookstore), Hammonassett State Park and Chatfield Hollow SP are all with a few miles and well worth visiting. I have family in the area and will be happy to stay here again.

    David2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first Airbnb experience. Susi has set the bar extremely high on all levels. Everything was just perfect and the attention to detail, just outstanding! The snacks provided were a perfect touch and greatly appreciated after traveling. The home is beautifully decorated and whatever we needed was always within reach. The house manual was full of suggestions for dining and sightseeing and also contained very useful information regarding the house including the hosts contact numbers. We had a wonderful weekend and felt right at home. We will definitely be visiting Greenfield Cottage again!

    Luella2017-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is incredible! I rarely write Air bnb reviews, but this place deserves one. The pictures don't do it justice. It's spacious, has a great kitchen, and has so much character. Susi stocked the fridge and left out snacks and even a bottle of wine, which was such a wonderful personal touch. She was very attentive to detail and easy to communicate with. We have family in the area and will definitely be staying here agin.

    Danielle2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Secure your time at Susi's sweet Greenfield Cottage now, before someone else does! The cottage is very well designed and located just north of 95 in Madison. Susi and Skip's hospitality is far superior to all other Airbnb experiences we've had. I highly recommend the Greenfield Cottage and I hope to return again soon!

    Kate2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a delightful stay at Greenfield Cottage. Susi may call it "shabby chic," but the decorating choices and the upscale finishes conveyed more chic than shabby! Special touches we particularly enjoyed included a cheese plate, snacks and a bottle of wine for the day of our arrival, and a breakfast pastry for the next morning. It is the kind of place we would gladly stay, again!

    Camilla2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great sister’s weekend here in Madison. It was so nice reuniting in a home that could have been one of ours. This place is full of warmth and love. The decorating touches in this house look like they could inspire an article in Connecticut Cottage magazine. Susi’s generous provisions of snacks and beverages was duly appreciated! This home is a perfect New England get-away! Madison is a fun place to explore, we spent time at the beach, loved Julia’s bookstore (could not believe that they host 250+ events a year with national-level authors!), and topped of the day with an excellent seafood meal at the Clam Castle. Thoughts of this precious home will bring memories of a perfect India summer weekend filled with laughter and friendship. We feel very lucky that it was available on Air B and B---it’s a treasure.

  • Suzanne was very accommodating and stayed in touch with us through your our stay. We were in town for a friend's wedding at the Madison Beach Hotel and it was easily accessible from the guest house. Guilford is a quaint NE town that was nice to explore for the afternoon before the wedding.

Location is great, 2 minute walk from the Mooring, 30 second walk to the train station, 10 minute walk to the beach, 15 walk to downtown, 10 minute drive to the highway, maybe less. Highly recommend this host/location!

    David2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The location is Guilford is amazing. Beach is a five minute walk and every bar/restaurant downtown is 15 min walk at most (all sidewalks). Place is also pretty big. I'd stay here again.

  • We had an amazing stay at this new and lovely space in Guilford. First of all the hosts , Suzanne and Frank were terrific and so friendly and gracious . The accommodations were impeccable and comfortable with many personal touches from a stocked fridge that included local baked goods and freshly ground coffee as well as a very comfortable bed and wall mounted HD TV . We walked into Guilford Center every night for dinner and also walked to the docks to enjoy the sunsets. Location is perfect to enjoy this beautiful New England town. This is easily the nicest place to stay when visiting the area . Just getting to know the hosts was an extra bonus !

The best feature was the fireplace specially since we woke to a beautiful snowy day. Thank you for getting the wood ready in the fireplace for us, it was very thoughtful. Happy Holidays. +Elizabeth & Joe

Everything was immaculate and in great taste. The bathroom is upstairs and very private. Brigid offered the use of her kitchen. The outdoor space is also spacious including a pond. Having dogs, it was perfect. Brigid is a lovely hostess, greeting us Thanksgiving night late. She always had a smile and desired to make our stay comfortable. We would love to be able to use her place again.

My place is close to The Village center and the Village Green, shops, restaurants, Chocolatier, a bookstore. A half mile to the beach, 4 miles to a National Seashore beach in Madison. I love my place because of the light, the cozy relaxing porch, the locals, the location to the village, the food!. You want to take a Picnic lunch with you? talk to me... My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, bicyclists or hiking enthusiasts, anyone who just loves history!
The place is eclectic, and casual and kind of cottage like.
While walking around this town of 2,200, settled in 1620, you see any number of beautiful homes, and while they are truly historic, they are as current in their simplicity as any contemporary home designed now. The 'form and function' and inherent simplicity, is also desirable today. There are 4 small 'House Museums', one being the oldest stone house on the East Coast. Guilford also has the stellar, 2 block Geen or Commons, with the town built around it.

She was so flexibile with our travel details, and it was no problem for us to change our days or check it at night. Her place is very sweet! And the breakfast was a nice added bonus. Kate was also so sweet with our baby girl, and thoughtfully gave her a little beach toy! Thanks Kate!

The scenery is AMAZING all the time, but ESPECIALLY IN THE FALL (Sept-Late Oct.) when the foliage colors are fabulous from the house as well as from the canoe. We often see several Osprey at once and a bald eagle during these times. Wildlife is everywhere and it is serene, quiet and peaceful.
  • Great place with two spacious and private bedrooms! The rooms look out onto a lovely patio with steps leading down to a dock for an early morning canoe paddle! Susan and Mark have provided every necessity to make the stay comfortable and relaxing. Great location for exploring the CT coastal towns only a short drive away.

  • What an incredible find! Mark and Susan have thought of everything! They welcomed us, had the kitchen, bath and bookcases well stocked and leisure time resources well thought through. Loved the pool table, porch swing and canoe. Everything exceptionally clean and thought through for our ease. The neighborhood is private, upscale and easy to find with their directions.

  • Lovely home with large gracious rooms. The 2-bedroom apartment on the lower level has everything you need including toiletries and items in the fridge for tea and coffee. The apartment is neat and clean. Mark is super responsive in answering questions and providing helpful answers via email. The multi-page guide (12 pages?) is organized by topic with great information on food, places to visit and more. Mark and Susan warmly greeted us and welcomed us to their home. The location is quite special nestled on the edge of a lake with nice outdoor seating including a covered area in the event of rain. Next time we visit I will have to remember they have an outdoor grill. Highly recommended! Thanks Mark and Susan.

  • This is a magical place that far exceeded our expectations. We loved our stay in Mark and Susan's beautiful home and we were sorry to leave. They are indeed super hosts! Their kindness, warmth and generosity were exceptional and we are left with many happy memories.

  • We couldn't have been happier with our experience at Mark and Susan's home. The space is very comfortable, private and honestly a real treat to relax in. It was 95F in the shade during our visit so after time out on the pond watching swans and egrets (not to mention the bald eagle that flew over with a fish in his talons!) I was so grateful to return to our retreat in the air conditioning. Mark and Susan thought of everything from coffee and restaurant suggestions to extra shampoo and hand lotion which I forgot to pack. They even lent me a beach umbrella! Their location was easy to find and we came and went to area beaches and towns without any trouble. I would highly recommend this location though next time I won't give my teenagers the password to the wifi so they will explore more!

    Pam2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Mark was accommodating of our late cross country arrival and showed us around the beautifully finished floor of their home. Great for relaxing and taking it easy, we spent our days playing pool, canoeing on the river and sitting outside in the quiet woods. It was everything we were looking for!

    Jeffrey2016-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our recent stay at Mark’s Bnb was amazing! We were greeted by Mark and his wife Susan who gave us the key and showed us around the property and apartment which is in the lower open level of the home with access to a private entrance at the back of the property. They stocked the fridge with water and bagels and cream cheese and also provided coffee and teas and all the fixings needed. We did not see them again after checking in and felt like we had plenty of privacy the whole time we were there. (We did meet their adorable little Schnoodle Pepper who is so friendly and sweet and we enjoyed watching her chase after chipmunks and squirrels for a while.) The pictures do not do the property justice and everything was exactly as described and even nicer. The views of the lake from the property are beautiful and we saw so many interesting birds and wildlife including the swan couple that swims back and forth in the area around their dock. We really enjoyed just relaxing on the outdoor patio and canoeing around the lake. There is an island in the middle of the lake and a dam at the end and it was fun exploring around and even fishing a bit. Mark provided a grill, charcoal and barbecue equipment that we really appreciated having at our disposal and we had such a nice dinner in the early evening there instead of going out to a restaurant. It was quiet and peaceful and the apartment had everything we could ask for. The kitchenette was well stocked and we used the toaster/convection oven and microwave as well. Plenty of dishes, glasses and silverware were available as well. Beds were comfortable and rooms are so cozy and pretty with lovely furnishings and decorations. We enjoyed the pool table and the large TV in the living room and watched a movie one night in total comfort. Mark and Susan provided a handout of all the best restaurants, local attractions and cultural events and were immediately available and helpful for some inquiries we had about local places. We would definitely return to this property again... as it was a wonderful bargain for the price and amenities. So much better and more comfortable than a hotel! We highly recommend this awesome Airbnb property.. the best we ever stayed at!

  • Mark and his wife were extremely pleasant and provided our small group with a wonderful accommodation. The bottom story of their house is very secluded from the above story so we felt that our privacy was intact the entire trip. We would definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area.

The bedroom is on the second floor, adjacent to the bathroom. Bedroom #2 with a double bed can be rented only by Your family or friends traveling with you since the bathroom would then be shared by both bedroom occupants.
The bedroom is spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom and guests would have sole use of it ( unless they have secured the second bedroom (at an additional cost) for family or friends traveling together). The second bedroom offers a double bed.
We have a small neighborhood consisting of 6 houses on our street. We have an interior lot and are nestled in the woods.
  • Holly and Len (sp?) were wonderful hosts! My husband and I enjoyed staying in their immaculate home, sitting by the outdoor fireplace and chatting with them, and eating a delicious breakfast cooked by Holly. They are friendly and helpful, and told us about the great seafood place we tried in Guilford. I would stay with them again!

    Esther2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first airbnb experience and if they are all like this, I will never stay home! Holly & Len were warm, welcoming, and friendly! I appreciated their thoughtful suggestions for activities and places to visit. Their place is spectacular and accommodations very comfortable. I especially enjoyed chatting with them in the evening by their outside fireplace listening to the peepers! Everything was spic and span, and they even had soft, thick robes! Their house is conveniently near a major route into the area, yet so surrounded by trees, you wouldn't ever know it - very peaceful! I would definitely recommend this place (and have already)!

  • Clean and comfortable room in a beautiful house. The hosts are gracious and there is a wonderful sitting room that allows you to read relax and watch TV. Highly recommended

  • “There are no strangers here; Only friends you haven’t yet met.” – William Butler Yeats Yeats’ quote perfectly describes a stay with your hosts, Holly and Len in Guilford, Connecticut. From the moment I arrived for an extended stay at this Airbnb, I felt “at home”. They warmly welcomed me into their home during the busy and fun holiday season. Their beautiful colonial home is in a quiet residential neighborhood in Guilford, conveniently located off the Boston Post Road with easy access to major highways, including Interstate 95 and rail connections. Guilford, located on Long Island Sound, is a shoreline community with all the charms a shoreline town offers. Unique characteristics of this historic village include the Town Green with its numerous boutique shops, restaurants, antique markets and art galleries. Nearby are historical museums that display Guilford’s heritage, including the Hyland House, Henry Whitfield State Museum, Thomas Griswold House, Medad Stone Tavern and the Dudley Farm. Not far from town located at the end of Whitfield Street, are the Guilford Town Marina and Jacob’s Beach, where there are scenic views of Grass Island, Faulkner’s Island and the East River marsh. Guests will enjoy the finest accommodations and personal touches. In addition to a spacious and beautifully furnished bedroom, fine linens and a private bathroom, there is a separate sitting room with television and Keurig Coffee Maker – ideal for early risers! I would be pleased to stay with Holly and Len on a future visit to Guilford, a charming Connecticut shoreline town(URL HIDDEN)

  • Situated less than 2 miles from the quaint town of Guilford, this home is in a scenic residential area tucked away in woods and hills. The bedrooms are ideally laid out for either couples or families and the hosts are very accommodating. The driveway can be tricky when it snows, but the owner kept it well plowed for us.

    Libussa2017-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Holly and Len were incredibly nice and amazing, it was unfortunate we could only stay one night. We had a great time talking to them, and Holly was sweet enough to provide us with pie when we arrived and breakfast and coffee in the morning. They were also gracious enough to let us stay later than the normal checkout time. This was our first time in a room under the same roof as a host, and it will definitely not be our last. Holly and Len have set a high standard for other Airbnb hosts :)

    Michelle2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay with Holly and Len. The house is in a beautifully serene location, the room was pristine and comfortable, and last but not least, Holly and Len were perfect hosts. It was a great pleasure to interact with both of them, and Holly truly went above and beyond, giving us several rides to places in and around Guilford and acting as fantastic guide to the area. One of my best Airbnb experiences so far!

    mira2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Holly and Len were amazing! They made me feel right at home and were very helpful and thoughtful. Their home is lovely and the wooded area was bright with fall colors. Buddy, their cat, greeted me every morning so I felt like a family member. I was very fortunate to stay with two such caring and wonderful people. May you both be happy and well and may all good things come your way. Thank you Holly and Len!

  • We had such a great time at Ashlen's cottage. She made an effort to really make this cottage feel very homey. She left great suggestions for activities/food, and we had a great time. The cottage was adorable and very comfortable, and the robes were a plus too!

  • This is such a sweet little space. It reminded me of a modern Irish cottage. The area is a lovely New England neighborhood with beautiful stone walls. It was a perfect place to hide away for the weekend. We'd love to come back.

  • Wonderful place, great location!

  • We could not have asked for a better stay! The cottage is perfect, clean, so nicely decorated, the yard child friendly and the location great! We were only 10 mins from Hammonasset beach, 5 minutes from the Clinton outlets and Clinton's Main Street right down the road with plenty of food options. Ashlen and Collin were great hosts and always available if needed. We look forward to coming back!

    Stacey2017-08-08T00:00:00Z

Typical local services, such as pharmacy, grocery store, DD, are all within 1-2 miles. Cottage was spotless, nice/large TV, good shower, comfortable mattress. Ashlen & Collin were extremely friendly and responsive.

  • I loved Emily's place! She was the perfect host, very welcoming and clear about how everything worked, offering just the right amount of information. The apartment was bigger than I expected given the picture, and every room was immaculate. Emily thoughtfully turned on the a/c ahead of my arrival so the temperature was just right despite the hot, humid day. It was absolutely peaceful and quiet all night and the coffee was especially good. I'll stay there again if my travels bring me to Clinton!

    Ruth2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Emily and her place were both great! Lovely little apartment on a nice big property. A few stores are walkable but we had a rental car to get around the area. Highly recommend for any couple looking for a nice, clean, quiet and affordable option in the area.

  • Emily is a wonderful hostess and was available anytime I texted for help. Wonderful stay - will definitely be back :D

  • Emily's place is great ! The place felt just like home. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay and of course when we come back to CT we'll stay at Emily's place. There are some pretty good restaurants about 6mins away. Emily is very welcoming and a amazing host!

    Ashley2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Emily's place is absolutely adorable. It's the upstairs floor of an older house but it is very well maintained and the decoration is charming. There are many small touches throughout the apartment that make it special--coffee, sugar, and cream provided, samples for use in the bathroom, ample spices and cooking supplies in the kitchen...we were very comfortable there and would book again with no hesitation!

    Shannon2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Emily was an incredible host! She responded immediately and was so kind to welcome us to her incredible garden, grilling space, dipping pool and hot tub. The apartment is perfect for a last minute getaway and is bigger than the photos appear. It has an incredible view from a deck that is off the bedroom overlooking the lawn. We were able to commute without a car (we took the New Haven Line and transferred to the Shoreline Train from Manhattan) and were able Uber most of the weekend or at times walk around. We only spent one full day there, but were able to check out the Clinton Outlet nearby and kayak to a small beach at the Harborside Marina. We definitely want to come back in the future!

  • Andrea and Ken are very gracious hosts. They went out of their way to be sure we had everything my fiancé and I needed during our stay. Andrea offered for me to use her kitchen to cook dinner and even helped me gather the supplies I needed. Andrea and Ken gave us candles to use, so we could have a romantic candlelit dinner on our own private patio. It was so lovely! The sauna is amazing. A few highlights from our trip we're the massage chair, the beautiful beach right down the street, and the koi fish in the backyard. Incredible! We'll be back. :)

    Sarah2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea and Ken were wonderful hosts, and their beach house suite was fantastic. Ken gave my wife and I a tour of the house, our private suite, pool, koi pond, and walked us down to the neighborhood's private beach where an umbrella and chairs were already waiting. Our hosts were friendly and offered great suggestions for dinner and breakfast the next day. The description of the suite is very clear: it is your private suite with ping pong, bedroom, bathroom, etc., but Andrea and Ken live in the house, and they are around when/if you need them. We will be back! Thanks again!

    AJ2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Staying here was quite the treat. We had our own entrance and 4 room suite which included a great room with pool table, kitchen/bar set up, and private deck over looking their resort type grounds. We were a few hundred yards from the private beach which we were also able to use. The hosts couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. My husband and I were looking for a restful weekend away at the shore and we got that and so much more. We would highly recommend staying here.

    Cathleen2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Must stay! Beautiful home and incredible location. Very short walk to the private beach. So close to restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. Truly 4 rooms! Huge game room with bar, pool table, and flat screen. Large bedroom, bathroom, and sitting area. Beautiful backyard with a pool! Fishing was great from the private beach, and all the gear you need is at the house. Homeowners were fantastic, and will make you feel like you are part of the family! Only place that we will stay any time we travel to the area!

    Steven2017-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great location, and a lovely home with lots to do. My daughter loved the pool, the massage chair, and petting the koi! Highly recommended.

  • I had a wonderful stay at Ken & Andrea's home. It was a delightful time and Ken and Andrea were most hospitable. We were greeted well and shown the residence and also the backyard where they had a wonderful pond of Koi fish. The room was excellent and clean. I would definitely recommend staying at Ken & Andrea's !
