  • It was a great stay! frenchmen street is so close, the french quarter is a short drive away, and food was very nearby! I'd definitely stay again!

  • The home was lovely and the communication was awesome. I'd recommend a stay.

  • April and Ken's place was a great home base for my trip to New Orleans. It was clean and comfortable, and I loved sitting on the balcony with a book. The neighborhood was spectacular - 20 minute walk to the French Quarter, 20 minute walk to Mid City, and bus stops just a block from the apartment. I'd absolutely stay here again!

    Michael2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • It looks exactly like the picture and is a nice private get away! Bikes are available and you can bike to anywhere from here!

  • Had a wonderful time @ A and K's place! They were spectacular host and can't wait to go back.

    Michelle2016-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place is convenient, quiet and comfortable. It was great to bike out of each day and come back to quiet. Washer/dryer great for road travelers! Ken met us when we checked in, didn't get to meet April but maybe next time.

    Cook and Pete2017-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Ken & April's apartment, it was well presented with everything we needed, and my wife loved the red appliances and furnishings, just like at our home. We also found having a washing machine and dryer in the apartment a real added convenience, as after a couple of weeks of travelling, it's amazing how much washing you accumulate. The distance to the f French quarter and down town is reasonably close and only a short bus or taxi ride. a nice little touch was the bikes that were available, my son was happy as riding around. I would happily recommend this to others. Cheers Brent, Wilma & Troy from New Zealand.

  • Lovely place, great bedroom, extremely we'll equipped! We loved riding around with the bikes... And the dining suggestions were the best, thank you!

  • This is a great little nook - high ceilings, spacious, very cozy, private patio, and a driveway parking space - I highly recommend!

    Becca2017-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Host was absolutely accommodating! We could have showed up with no luggage and had everything we needed. He was also extremely communicative. Shortly after our check-in time he texted us to make sure we'd found everything okay. The apartment was tastefully furnished, comfortable, and in a good neighborhood. Although it is located a couple miles from the French quarter, it is located near a street-car pickup which makes for a lovely ride through the historic, oak-laden garden district on the way to the quarter. We will definitely be using this host again.

  • WOW, WOW, WOW! It was the best money I ever spent! It was truly a pleasure to rent the Belfast Studio from Matthew. What a wonderful place to stay for business or vacation. What you see is what you get. It was very clean, cozy, comfortable, quiet, and conveniently located to everywhere I wanted to go. Matthew provided all the information I needed to make my arrival, my vacation, and my departure the most enjoyable experience ever. Although I have traveled to New Orleans on numerous occasions for work and stayed at many nice hotels, this was the best trip ever. I have to mention that the studio has the most comfortable mattress I ever slept on in my life. The appliances, including washer and dryer, were a great convenience. Lastly, all the little things that were left in the apartment to make the my stay comfortable were greatly appreciated and the Wi-Fi connection was excellent. I love the space (indoors and outdoors), it has great energy and I can't wait to visit again! I sincerely thank you Matthew for creating a wonderful, peace-filled space for your guests. It is absolutely fantastic!

  • Wonderful, spacious, bright, cheery studio in New Orleans. Host was superb with communication and has impeccable attention to details. The snacks, local bottle of brew for you to try in the fridge, a travel-size of every personal item you could think of that you may have forgotten... he didn't miss a thing. Plus, unit has washer/dryer which would be convenient for longer term or road-tripping guests. One of the best AirBnB's I've stayed at.

  • Very private, nice and quiet, clean and well kept!

    Nathan2016-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, beautiful, calm and immaculate space in a quiet, safe neighborhood. I stayed here to visit my daughter at Tulane while my sister was staying downtown and it was very accessible to all. Unfortunately, Matthew was out of town but communicated prior to my visit, the first day and made it very clear how accessible he was as just a text away. However, the space is so well organized, I couldn't imagine any questions or concerns arising either! Will surely make this my first choice next time I return!

    Marcia2016-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Mat’s studio apartment was exactly as pictured and described. His craftsmanship was evident in the architecture, construction, styling, and outfitting of the space, inside and out. He is a great host! We communicated back and forth several times prior to our arrival and felt like we were being greeted by a friend when we got into town. We weren’t around much (trying to squeeze in more than our schedule would allow at the end of our vacation) but wished we could have gotten to know our host better. He has put a lot of heart into making this a great experience for his guests. Mat has really thought of everything, including preparing a welcome guide that covers safety (much appreciated) and leaves the guesswork out of where to find things. He also had recommendations for dining/drinking/events. The location is in a very nice neighborhood and adjacent to many of the grand homes along the St. Charles streetcar line. We felt safe walking throughout the area even after dark. Mat even provided some beverages and snacks, which was super nice. If we get back to New Orleans in the future, we wouldn’t hesitate to contact Mat again. AirBnB is a great experience because of hosts like Mat!

  • I had an enjoyable stay at Whitney's NOLA studio! The studio is exactly as pictured, the bed is extremely comfortable, the studio was spotless, and the whole grounds are quiet and peaceful. My stay was quick for a conference and the studio was a quick cab ride from the convention center. Overall was a great experience and I would return.

  • Belinda is such a sweetheart, all around an extraordinary host! Even before we checked in, she offered to pick us up since we'd stayed at a hotel in the French Quarter the night before. The hospitality was off the charts! There was a bottle of wine and 2 glasses waiting for us upon arrival. The studio is charming and extremely clean! I LOVED the bedroom, it was very tranquil and extremely comfortable to sleep in. The bathroom is also very clean and beautiful. Meeting her adorable doggies Nola And Shiro made the trip even that much more enjoyable! Cabinets filled with cereal, tea, goodies and snacks. Fridge was stocked with beer, beverages and there's also a bottled water tank...esp for those "rough party nights") She had typed out highlights for us on where to go on our trip, and offered us bikes if we chose to ride into town. The location is absolutely perfect! Right outside of the French Quarter which will take no more than 10 minutes to walk to. We even got a chance to see Belinda perform at one of the most respected jazz clubs in town which was awesome!") This was our first trip to New Orleans and our first experience using AIR BNB. I can honestly say, had it not been for Belinda's hospitality, we wouldn't have had such an amazing time! I highly recommend any one of Belinda's studio's for your stay in New Orleans, she goes above and beyond. Thank You Belinda for treating us like family") You're a lovely person!

  • Belinda's apartment in Nola was our best AirB&B experience ever! Belinda was so kind to leave us some cheese and crackers, beer, wine, and ciders upon our check in! And she gave us some great recommendations for some excellent local Nola restaurants! Belinda was also very kind to let us drop off our luggage before check in and hold my luggage after check out for a short time. Belinda's wonderful property is just blocks from the French Quarter boundary from Treme, and about a 1/2 mile walk to get down to Decatur St. Frenchman Street was also a good walk from Belinda's Property. We took a cab to get to the lower Garden District, but we did quite a bit of walking all around the French Quarter from Belinda's. Belinda's Nola unit is newly remodeled and very modern and quiet. Hardwood floors, a great bed and bedroom, and a very well stocked kitchenette and bath were just fantastic. Belinda's Nola Apartment is just our best AirB&B experience and we plan to book with her again soon for another fantastic stay in New Orleans! Belinda, Thank You!

  • Even though Whitney was out of town, Brian and Dawn were there to greet us at the gate and show us around the studio. Communicating was smooth and very detailed. The NOLA Studio was very impressive, cozy and clean. It was a very pleasant stay. They even had water, sodas and local beers in the fridge for us to drink. A short walk to the French Quarter. I would recommend this studio to my friends.

    Diane2014-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed staying at Whitney's place. It is a couple of blocks away from the french quarter, but totally within walking distance. I would only walk down there during the day and with my boyfriend who came with me, as the neighborhood seemed a little more isolated and I had heard lots of stories about people getting robbed in New Orleans in general. But I think as long as your smart about it then this place is great, especially for the price. Whitney greeted us when we arrived to provide us with the keys and give us basic info on where to go in the french quarter which was great because it was my first time here. The studio is how described- everything you need but a pretty basic kitchenette so if you want to cook at all there isn't options for this. But with New Orleans food who needs that :) I would for sure consider staying here again on my next trip to New Orleans!

    Kristi2014-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our stay, great location and space. We come to New Orleans every year to visit family so very happy to find a spot that we can stay each time.

  • Nola's studio was perfect for our weekend getaway to New Orleans! The studio was very well furnished, exceptionally clean, and a great location! Belinda was very accommodating with all of our needs, before we arrived, and while we were there! Belinda went above and beyond by providing snacks and refreshments for us! We hope to return to New Orleans again, and would love to stay at one of Belinda's properties again!

    Jennifer2011-09-19T00:00:00Z

  • We really enjoyed our stay in the Gold Room. The Red Room across the kitchen is a bit more private as Coco uses the Gold Room as a hallway while you are out for the day. We did not mind at all but figured it would be nice to know when choosing your room. Everything was clean and organized and we had a great time!

    Samantha2013-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at this lovely place. I liked the area. Public transportation was near and a lot of interesting places in walking distance. Information before arrival was very precise. The girl living next room and using my room as hallway to bath and kitchen was very nice and helpful. Kitchen was well equipped. Thank you very much.

    Jens2015-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • The room has a unique design and you can feel the blues of New Orleans in this place. Everything was well organized - from the arrival to the departure. They provide also a very helpful little guidebook which led me through the city, by bike. If you wish to have a real New Orleans experience - I would definitely recommend this place to you!

    Matthias2013-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • I had a lovely stay and I highly recommend Coco& Andrew's place! They are very nice and very knowledgeable about the city of New Orleans! Their home is in a very clean, charming and artistic. It's located a quick 5 - 10 min bike ride to the French Quarter or 5 min bus ride straight down the beautiful street Esplanade, full of lovely Victorian mansions!

    Abeni2013-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Andrew and Amanda's place was great! Their house has a lot of character and is well maintained. The loft bed set up is ovely and quite comfortable. The only issue was the noise in the morning since it is their shared living room that people pass through. But for the price and location, can't complain!

    Amanda2014-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • I didn't see Andrew during my stay but he responded to any question I had via AirBnB message promptly. Amanda, who lives in the front part of the house, was sweet and kept to herself. She does have to walk through the room to get to hers, which privacy wise is a bit awkward. The house is beautiful, there is a great backyard with a hammock. Quick bike ride to City Park which is great. If you aren't comfortable on bikes I wouldn't necessarily recommend staying here. You are pretty far away from anything unless you have transportation. Although... It is walking distance from F&F Botanica for some amazing mysticism and Pagoda Cafe for coffee and amazing baked goods.

    Amanda2015-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Just what I was looking for - a bed & shower. Had no opportunity to use the kitchen.

Guest area features private bedroom and bath with its own private entrance. Only 2 miles from the French Quarter by streetcar. Enjoy complete privacy in the guest space or visit with the hosts as you desire.
Private bedroom and bath in our charming shotgun house on the Canal Streetcar line only 2 miles from the French Quarter. Guest area features private entrance, lovely patio, beautiful antique furnishings, 11-foot ceilings, petite chandelier, comfortable and clean queen bed, and cozy guest robes. Internet, cable TV, parking, oscillating fan, iPod player, white noise machine, hairdryer, fridge, coffeepot, crockpot, and snacks are provided. The space has a peaceful, airy feel and is flooded with natural light. This listing is unique in that you have complete privacy from the main house. The guest space has its own exterior door, and you are free to come and go as you please. The garden path leading to your room features motion-activated lighting if you are returning after dark. The room is located down the garden path in the rear of the house. We welcome special requests and will do anything we can to accommodate you. The room is ideal for one to two people, but we can also provide a travel crib and other baby items if you wish to travel with your child. We love hosting guests for honeymoons, anniversaries, and other special events. Our home is located in the historic Mid-City neighborhood, which was one of the first neighborhoods to spring back after extensive flooding due to Hurricane Katrina. Mid-City is located, as the name indicates, in the middle of New Orleans on what was once the backslope of the Mississippi River natural levee. Our home was built around 1910 and is a typical New Orleans-style shotgun house. In New Orleans at the time of construction, the shotgun house utilized a minimized lot frontage, on which taxes were based. The houses were also built without hallways and closets, which would have been counted as rooms for tax purposes. The origin of the building style and the name itself may trace back to Haitian influences on New Orleans, as many Afro-Haitian slaves lived in this area. Our house was recently featured on the HBO series "Treme", as the law office of the character Toni Bernette (played by Melissa Leo) and also as part of the interior of the home of Creighton Bernette (played by John Goodman). Guests are free to have complete privacy or to meet with the host as desired to obtain recommendations for food, drink, and attractions. Check-in is offered via a lockbox. Rates may vary during special events and holidays. Our home is located just off the parade route for Endymion, the largest parade of Mardi Gras. The festival grounds for Jazz Fest are just over 1 mile away.
Mid-City is a diverse neighborhood with its own distinctive flavor. Bars and restaurants in this area are largely patronized by locals, so the neighborhood provides an escape from the more touristy areas of the city, while still allowing easy access to the French Quarter via the Canal Streetcar Line.
  • This was my first airbnb experience and I want to say thank you to erin and her husband for making us feel at home and being so accommodating. Great communication throughout the whole process, the room was exactly as described/pictured, every effort was made to make us comfortable and provide an "at home" environment.

    Alicia2013-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Erin and Greg were lovely hosts. The room was BEAUTIFUL and had everything we needed (so appreciated the cold beer waiting in the fridge after our long drive)...snacks came in handy too. REALLY loved being able to use the driveway...many thanks! We enjoyed dinner out @ Katie's...neighborhood gem! Felt safe walking to and from the bus stop at night...and just a short ride to the French Quarter. The percect place to call "home" while visiting New Orleans. Highly recommended!

    Jennifer2015-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Everything went fine, thanks for allowing late check in, the room was nice, but I didn't meet the hosts

    Hilmar2015-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay. Our room was beautiful and Erin was very helpful with information on how to get around and what to see. We had no trouble with the Streetcar and bus transportation. Loved this property would definately stay again!!!

    Lisa2013-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • The beauty of Erin's place is that the accommodation is independent of the house with a separate access, which means you can come and go as you like without disturbing the host. The room has a separte bathroom that is stocked with quality products. The room is neat as a pin and nicely decorated. Bed very comfortable. It is not in the most upmarket neighbourhood but the main trolley car downtown is just two minutes away ($3 for a day pass) and we never felt uncomfortable moving about.

    Kate2013-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Its the most beautiful house in Louisiana. We enjoyed staying at this nice place. Thank you for the nice hospitality and the great time . We are sure that we are coming back ...

  • So cozy, clean and comfy! I just about melted when I put on the bathrobe and sunk into that bed! We loved staying here! Erin is a great host and will go out of her way to ensure you have a wonderful stay. And it is close to tons of great stuff. Be sure to do breakfast at the Ruby Slipper!

    Clair2012-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Erin’s guest room is the perfect combination of staying in a typical and authentic house in Mid City as well as tasting the city life of New Orleans when exploring the French Quarter. The room was nice, the bed was very comfortable and everything including the bathroom was very clean. Erin was a great host; she welcomed us and advised us on where to eat and what to do, which were great suggestions! We had a wonderful stay at her place, as it was a nice and quiet get away from the hectic center, without losing the feeling of being in New Orleans. We would definitely recommend Erin’s place!

  • Where do I begin? Let's start with the southern hospitality of Robert and Ernie. They greeted us with a bottle of Red, a bottle of white, and a huge Muffaletta. Ernie was the sweetest, always there each day for us, even did our laundry. Our canopy bed was divine, and I miss it dearly. Nothing quite beats a little party in the hot tub as well. The entire place was gorgeous, and gave us the feeling of a local. The Bywater stole my heart, charming little places to eat, coffee shops, and thrift stores, only down the street. Don't miss Markey's, The Country Club, Bon Castor, Bargan Center, Bacchanal Wine Bar, and Mariza, all within walking distance. Next time I visit, I'll prob just stay. Thanks Robert for the real New Orleans!! Chloe

  • Fantastic place; probably one of the best stays we've ever had. The furnishings, attention to housekeeping and guests' needs (not to mention the lagniappe!) were as good as any five star hotel. You know a place is good when it tempts you away from exploring New Orleans; we found ourselves wanting to come back to the house early just to spend time listening to WWOZ in the parlor or soaking in the jacuzzi tub. One clarification: Though the house has two bedrooms, in order to access the bathroom you must pass through the second bedroom (it's a shotgun house, so there's no hallway.) The space is great for a single couple, but might not afford enough privacy for others (though it's such an amazing place that a group of close friends could make it work. Depends on your comfort level.) Agree with all the other comments about the Bywater, the hospitality of Chef Robert and Ernie, and the fact that next time we're in New Orleans we'll definitely try to stay here.

  • A big thanks to Ernie and Robert for going above and beyond to make our stay in Bywater enjoyable. We appreciated the snacks and fresh flowers!

    Larissa2012-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Absolutely amazing place. Where do I begin?! Robert very kindly picked us up from the bus station and promptly put a beer in each of our hands. On the drive home he gave an impromptu tour and shared many fascinating insights into both the city and his own family history. The property is just wonderful - so full of character and so lovingly cared for. You will want for absolutely nothing here. There were snacks and drinks and toiletries and cosmetics - anything & everything you might need or want. Ernie was an absolute star and even did our washing for us (which for weary travellers who'd been on the road a while was incredibly helpful). The Bywater area is fantastic. Must admit, like most tourists, we originally started by looking at the French Quarter. We really only ended up here because it was the last night of Jazz Fest and we couldn't find anything affordable in or around the Quarter. I'm so glad we did. The Bywater is really beautiful with stunning architecture. It's an easy walk into the Quarter and one we very much enjoyed. Also, there are some great cafes/restaurants nearby. All the info you need on the local area you'll find in the accommodation - maps, tour info, bus timetables, takeaway menus. I have stayed in many places all over the world and this rates as one of my favourite all time places. You can't put a price on the character, history or hospitality. AMAZING! Thank you so much Robert & Ernie. If we ever make it back to New Orleans there's no question that we'd stay here!!

  • Robert was a great host, and his housekeeper Ernie was wonderful. The house is exactly as advertised and is located on a quiet block within walking distance of a number of the neighborhood's restaurants and bars. Finding a parking spot on the block was never an issue. My wife and I hope to stay here again on our next NOLA trip.

    Roy2013-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What can I say that I didn't say after my first time staying here last April? Robert and Ernie are the quintessential old world hosts. Where, nowadays, would one find a host who launders your clothes, has a bottle of bourbon and fresh fruit (and so much more) waiting for you once you step into their charming and beautiful home? Having stayed at so many places in so many locations, I can sincerely say their place is a jewel. Thanks again for a great NOLA experience!

  • This was an incredible airbnb experience. Robert's quick responses from beginning to end made the details of our trip seamless (from check-in procedures to questions about sights and history). His housekeeper Ernie, as you will hear time and time again, is the most hospitable and delightful gentleman. The neighborhood was the best of everything with plenty to see/do within 1-3 blocks (Try the cornbread french toast with ham and duck egg at Maurepas around the corner!) , it's own character, a sense of safety, quiet, and yet still close enough to the center of the action. The home itself is exactly as pictured with old charm and still plenty of comfort. We hope to return soon!

    Ruth2015-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Robert has wonderful place in the Bywater district (great neighborhood about 1 mile from the french quarter. Easily walkable). All amenities are top notch. Ernie ( housekeeper) is absolutely wonderful and helpful in any way possible. We look forward to coming back to New Orleans and stay there again. Thank you Robert and Ernie for your truly fantastic hospitality!

A wonderful upstairs gem in the popular Bywater area of New Orleans, just outside of the infamous French Quarter (20 minute walk). Upstairs lounging porch is a great place to start the morning and end the evening. Fully stocked kitchen.
This Bywater apartment is a traditional New Orleans "shotgun" style house, but one of the bedrooms does have a door. It is upstairs in the "camel back" part of the house. A nice big comfy claw foot tub is great for the end of the day to soothe a body after touring in our fun city. There is one bedroom in the back of the apartment that has a queen size bed; the living room has a queen size sofa sleeper; the front bedroom has a day bed with a pop up trundle (which makes two twin beds or smooshed together makes a king size bed).
Bywater is such a wonderful spot in the city - close to the French Quarter, but a little quieter. Lots of incredible architecture and people choose exciting colors to paint their houses (or some choose to let them go au naturale!) This are has lots of musicians, artists, writers, service workers, and old time New Orleanians - lots of characters to enjoy along your walk. We always say hi to each other in New Orleans - so don't be surprised when people greet you along the way! Lots of fun coffee shops, book stores, thrift/vintage shops, bars/music clubs, and many many yummy restaurants. I have a list of my favorites for you in the apt! 20-30 minute walk to the French Quarter, 15-20 minute walk to Frenchman Street which has lots of music venues (and a great outdoor art market)
  • We had a wonderful stay at Leslie's place! It was very comfortable, clean and in a great location. We would definitely stay there again!

  • This is a great place to stay if you're visiting NOLA! The apartment itself is very scenic! Ms. Leslie does a great job communicating with you for any accommodations/issues you may have. I recommend staying here to other people!

    Cristian 2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great little spot, good location in a nice, colorful, and walkable neighborhood. Leslie was helpful and prompt to respond to any messages. Recommended for a Nola stay!

  • This is a very ideal spot! We loved the by water /Marigny area and eating dinner at bootys and branching at the country club. Leslie's place has everything you need :) would definitely stay here again!!

  • Great apt, great price, quiet location. Leslie was very response, and very helpful. I would highly recommend this location.

    Alexander 2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Leslie responded quickly to all my questions, and was very friendly. The place was great, we really loved the front room, where we could lay on the beds with the door open and feel the warm air. The neighborhood is so lovely and close to so many things.

    Molly2016-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a wonderful time at New Orleans. Our host was very accommodating and always there for us if we had any questions. Would recommend this host to anyone who's trying to explore New Orleans!

  • Our stay at Leslie's was really nice. The place was clean and located in a great neighborhood. The location was good close to some cool spots. The outdoor porch was a nice touch too. Leslie was very prompt in answering any questions and really sweet. The only thing I would say is the back, larger bedroom didn't have any Windows and seemed dark and stuffy so we stayed in the front room with the two beds. But beyond that everything was really nice.

Semi-private room* in a cute and cozy shotgun house in the Marigny. 15 minute walk to the French Quarter, 12 minutes to Frenchmen St., 2 minutes to the Bywater. Located around the corner from a few restaurants, bars, a coffee shop, and grocery store. *Note, this room is yours and yours alone, but people have to walk through it to get to their room.
The house is a classic shotgun, a very common style of architecture for homes here in New Orleans. Our bedroom is the first room in the house, and we rent the next three rooms to guests (see our profile for links to the other rooms). Each room is arranged one behind the other. You will be walking through our bedroom to get to your room, and while you'll have your room to yourself, people will have to walk past your room to access the kitchen, other bedrooms, backyard, and bathroom. Both doorways have doors which you can close for more privacy. Your room is the second room in the house. It comes furnished with a queen size bed, nightstand, bright lamp for reading, a couple of chairs, suitcase rack, fresh sheets, clean blankets, four pillows, towels, and a white noise machine to cancel out house noises.
Our location is probably our greatest feature. Our house is centrally located in the Marigny. Frenchmen St. jazz and music clubs are only six blocks away, the French Quarter is a ten minute, nine-block walk away in one direction, and the Bywater (neighborhood) is just over the train tracks, two blocks in the other direction. We are one block from Mardi Gras Zone, a 24 hour organic grocery store (now with an alcohol license!), and three blocks from Hank's, a 24 hour convenience store (where you can stock up on alcohol and fried chicken). Flora's Coffee shop is two blocks away. There are eight bars (ranging from fancy cocktail bars to dive bars) within a three block radius.
  • Great affordable place. Not a lot of privacy but for us it's wasn't a big deal. Hosts are very helpful and friendly. Great location.

    Maija2013-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Katie & Matthijs was very welcoming. Although we didn't spend much time with them, but they were very helpful, friendly and considered. The room was clean and comfortable, a good place to rest after a tiring day.

    stephanie2014-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • I love the Marigny and this spot gave us great access to our favorite locations in this sweet neighborhood. Katie & Matthijs were really welcoming and accommodating with our travel schedule. All-in-all, it was a great budget-friendly option for us to have a chance to experience the area like locals.

    Elizabeth2015-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really great time staying at Katie's and Matthijs'. Unfortunately, it was a very short stay and we did not get the chance to talk more with them but they are very friendly and welcoming; Katie gave us really nice places to try around their house. The neighborhood is awesome, well-located and more authentic than the touristic French quarter. Being in a shotgun is also an authentic experience that we really enjoyed and a good way to meet people. Just make sure that you do like dogs! We would definitely recommend this place for a stay in New Orleans; thanks!

    Océane2015-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed my brief stay with Katie and (URL HIDDEN) plane was late and so they made arrangements for me to get the key at 3:30 in the morning. Very nice. The room and bathroom were very clean and the neighborhood was nice. All the neighbors were very friendly and as a walker, I was able to walk to Frenchman street as well as walk to the French Quarters from this house. Katie and Matthijs were very kind and helpful and I would recommend their home to others without hesitation.

    Dena2015-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Katie and Matthijs were excellent hosts! They gave us some great tips on what to do and see. Highly recommended!

    Shon2017-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is the best neighborhood to stay in New Orleans, in my opinion. At least if you want to be in an area with easy access to unpretentious cafes with great food, interesting music spots, and cute little homes, without the commercial glitz of the French Quarter (which is easy enough to get to if you want). Katie and Matthijs do a great job with this home. My daughter got sick during this stay (nothing to do with the room), and Katie was very helpful. Because this is a shotgun house (as is common for many New Orleans homes), you will have people walking through your room occasionally, and you will walk through other rooms, but just respect your housemates and it will be fine.

    Lois2015-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was exactly as described. Location was excellent, Katie and Matthijs were very easy to deal with, and we had a great time!

  • David was such a perfect host!! He was informative & friendly, not to mention his sweet dog was such a fun perk! The listing was spot on! Clean & comfy! The home is just far enough away from the French Quarter to get a small taste of local life, but close enough that it only took a $12 uber ride to get there! Keyless entry really was such a convenient add-on also! Highly recommend!

    Jessica2016-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • David's place is perfect! The house is spotless, roomy and comfortable. Guests have their own floor with a large bedroom, plenty of closet space and bath. Very comfortable bed too. David was very welcoming and friendly, inviting us to use the kitchen and living room as we wished, hanging out and talking with us and even helping with unloading our car. We were there for Mardi Gras and like to go see the parades near Napoleon St. It was easy to drive in to the streetcar and take that straight to the parade route. We enjoyed being near City Park too with its sculpture park, museum and botanical garden. There are restaurants and a grocery two blocks away yet the neighborhood is very quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in NOLA. Thank you David!

  • This was hands down the best possible place to stay while in New Orleans. In addition to being the raddest and nicest guy ever, Andrew was super helpful and accommodating as a host. He always responded quickly to my texts, and when I stupidly locked myself out, he came to rescue me within minutes. My friend and I each rent a room for the weekend, and having an entire mini-flat to ourselves was AWESOME. The rooms are unbearable gorgeous; the kitchen and bathroom are super well-stocked with anything you might need. (& having a mini-flat definitely gave me the fantasy of being a NOLA resident.) The neighborhood felt super safe at all times, and it was a really smooth bike-ride to downtown/anywhere I needed to go. Also the complimentary mini-zine! I based most of my trip on that. TL;DR: these bros are the best; DEFINITELY STAY WITH THEM. & check out their anarchist art bus.

    Alain2013-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • I wasn't able to meet Andrew, as he was on vacation, but I did have the pleasure of meeting Amanda who was very sweet. The room, kitchen, and bathroom, were all very clean with a charming aesthetic. Having bicycle access was important for me, and the ones available were - more or less - cruisers; perfect for a city with old roads and innumerable potholes. It's centrally located and very close to Esplande Ave, a gorgeous mansion lined street that'll take you into the French Quarter in about 12min. There's a solid breakfast/lunch place about two blocks away with some killer iced-coffee.

    Paul2014-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 7 nights at the Luscious Red Room in early November 2014. The host Andrew was extremely responsive to our inquiries and any instructions were clear. The "zine" provided good advice on what to see do and eat while in town. The room was as described. The bed was very comfortable. We shared the kitchen area and bathroom with a resident, Amanda, who was very quiet and respectful, as well as guests who were staying in another airbnb room within the house. We had limited interaction with the other guests as we must have been on different daily schedules. The neighborhood was very quiet at night. The neighbors we met were friendly and helpful. The house is within longish walking distance to the clubs on Frenchman St and the French Quarter, but we found ourselves mostly walking to a nearby bus stop and using public transportation. Late nights/early morning we would take an inexpensive cab back to the house. We never used the free bikes but they would make travelling to the nearby points of interest a breeze!

  • Nothing but a magical and loving experience! ...I was warned by the location many times by several but I felt completely and totally safe and was always treated with respect and hospitality by surrounding neighbors, so I assure you there is no need to worry! Amanda is a beautiful nymph that resides in this wonder filled home that I fell head over heels with. Overall, my experience is an unforgettable one and hope to be back soon!

    Dilean2015-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful room and very accommodating. Wish I had booked more than one night! Very nicely detailed booklet on the bed with lists of places to see and other info on the town. Will definitely try to book again when I'm back in town.

    Jeff2016-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • The permanent tenant that lived there greeted us the morning after, since we got in very late on our check-in day. The area was not the best, but the room was overall nice. We ended up taking cabs everywhere we went, and it was pretty inexpensive. The set-up was a little confusing, as the room keys were not in the spot they said they were in, and there was no zine. That being said the room was overall exactly what we needed-- a comfortable place to sleep at night.

    Gabriela2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • The Red Room is an experience. Alex and crew are polite, considerate housemates. The bathroom and kitchen were tidy, but little less clean. Andrew was easy to reach, and the neighborhood was very quiet. Stay here for its character.

  • A poorly planned return flight after gathering with family for the holidays left me with an extra night in New Orleans. I was fortunate to find this lovely and affordable room. Katie was proactive in communication, and highly accommodating with me in scheduling a time to check in. Both she and Matthijs were in the house when I checked in. Both were extremely pleasant people who immediately helped me feel relaxed in their lovely railroad home. Katie showed me through the house and helped me settle in. The room was cute and the bed was comfortable. I had a small desk in the loft and Katie prepared a wonderful table in the living room below to use for my writing. When I arrived, the hosts were getting ready to watch a movie in the living room below the loft. Without being asked, they very thoughtfully packed up and relocated to another part of the house to allow me some quiet space to settle in. Though there was a fair amount of living and back-and-forth through the living room and kitchen below (some beautiful guitar playing also), the noise level was never an issue. A pleasant and affordable room with lovely owners in a fun neighborhood. Thanks to Katie & Matthijs for a great stay!

    Aimee2014-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Katie & Matthijs are wonderful hosts. From the time I walked in they were warm, friendly, and very inviting. They took the time to point out many attractions I was looking to see and even gave me a map with those points on them. They have a great knowledge of the area and where the best "local" hangouts are, and their food recommendations were spot on. This felt more like going to visit friends than it did a vacation in an unknown city. The house is close enough to every tourist destination that it is all walk able but far enough out that you are still in a quiet neighborhood. All in all it was a great experience.

    Adam2016-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • From checking in to checking out, EVERYTHING was amazing. The hosts weren't there but Mikey was and he was really helpful with everything. When I come back to NO, I will definitely make it a point to stay there.

    Meredith2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Host was super helpful and the house was an ideal location for exploring the French Quarter

    Leighton2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Katie and Matthijs and their cute dogs were very welcoming and hospitable. The loft was just as described and the experience of staying in a "shotgun" house was awesome. the neighborhood was very authentic and safe, my son and I walked everywhere and most nights came back later in the evening and had no problems at all.

    Francia2016-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Katie & Matthijs were wonderful hosts, and made me feel very welcomed. The room was just as described and was very comfortable for a loft space. I would absolutely stay with them again!

    Adam2016-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • The listing description was right on for this space. Katie and Matthijs were available for any questions but also allowed you space to come and go as you pleased. Their neighborhood was amazing, cute restaurants and shops and walking distance to Frenchmen St. which was a perfect place every night. They were kind enough to let me borrow a spare bike during my stay which allowed me to cover much more ground than I could by foot or bus. The price was perfect for the accommodation and I felt lucky to experience a real neighborhood feel (rather than hotels which all my friends were in). The only hard part was that at one point there were five people in the house all using one bathroom. That was a bit of a juggle so just be prepared. Maybe a chamber pot in each room would do the trick :)

    Tori2015-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Katie and Matthijs are friendly and welcoming. They provide useful information about things to do in the area.

Hi there, my name is Joseph and I'm a laid back New Orleanian living in the heart of the city. If you read my reviews, you'll also find that I strive to be a great host. Provided below are the details about the place and I encourage you to read the entire listing to get the most accurate idea of what my place is like but should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. :) **Pricing Fluctuates During Weekends/Seasons/Holidays, $60 is base price otherwise it is generally $60-90 for 1 person (inquire about the dates and your price is automatically generated)** -Safe Private Room in Shotgun Home 3 Blocks From French Quarter -2 Free Rental Bikes -Free Street Parking -Tempurpedic Queen Mattress In Oak Bed Frame -Ikea Sofa Bed -Can Accommodate 4 People -100 Year Old Historic New Orleans Shotgun Home -Flexible Check In/Check Out Times -Basic Cooking Amenities -Local's Guidebook -Perfect Location, Close to Everything Located 3 blocks from the French Quarter, 6 blocks from Bourbon st., and 4 blocks from Frenchmen st., you will be within walking distance of all the best places to go out to eat and watch music in the best part of New Orleans. You can walk or ride a free rental bike to City Park, the Fair Grounds, Cafe Du Monde, Woldenberg Riverfront Park, the Superdome, the Smoothie King Center, Audubon Aquarium, Louis Armstrong Park, St. Louis Cemetery, Jackson Square, the Natchez Steamboat, St. Louis Cathedral, the Royal st. art galleries, the St. Charles streetcar... This is also probably the best area to enjoy Mardi Gras as well. Want a less touristy approach? You've got the Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods, a Banksy piece 2 blocks away,... (see my guidebook for off the beaten path stuff). The experience alone of walking through these charming, historic neighborhoods is special in itself. My place is a simple, clean, and safe shotgun house right on the edge of the French Quarter and the Marigny with a cute little courtyard in the back. Should you get tired of eating out, the kitchen is equipped with a coffee grinder, Bodum french press, kettle, Vitamix blender, oven, pots, pans, etc. The bedroom has a queen Tempurpedic mattress in an Oak bed frame. The AC/heater is in the bedroom and does a great job of making the room cool and refreshing in the summer and warm and cozy in the winter. Street parking is always available right outside the house (unlike the French Quarter). The place is ideal for couples or for groups of friends up to 4. I have the queen Tempurpedic bed in the bedroom and a queen sized, modern Ikea sofa bed in the living room that sets up very easily to accommodate up to 4 people however, I want to be clear that this is not a party pad as the neighborhood tends to be quieter (at least by New Orleans standards). Feel free to use me as a resource if there's anything you're curious about as there are many, many great things about New Orleans that are off the beaten path. Pets will be considered on a case by case basis. I will expect your animals to be friendly and well socialized towards people and other animals. FAQs: Me, my cat, and my dog will be at the house during your stay. It is not a sublease, more like a roommate. The last day to alter a reservation is a week before the arrival date and the duration must be equal to the original booking. I have a maid that comes and cleans weekly. The heating and cooling units do a great job of heating and cooling the house. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! :)
I've lived all over New Orleans and have enjoyed the different neighborhoods but the French Quarter/Midcity/Marigny/Bywater is easily the best and most historic area in the whole city. Most of the festivals, shows, plays, parades, etc. happen in this neighborhood, it's the most compact neighborhood in the city which makes it very bikeable (2 free rental bikes!), it has the highest concentration of great restaurants and live music venues, and it has 2 huge riverfront parks. It's one of the oldest neighborhoods in the country with tons of history and it provides a glimpse into a way of life from the past.
  • Great space. Very comfortable bed and Paul was a gracious host. Location was good but it helped to have the bikes. Would definitely stay there again!

    Brad2015-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Paul is the best! Stayed one night, it was clean, comfortable, and Paul made checking in and out easy. Highly recommend staying here!

  • We absolutely loved staying with Ooti during our trip to New Orleans. He was able to pick us up when we arrived at the airport, showed us around town, and completely welcomed us into his home. I could not be happier with my first Airbnb experience. Thank you Ooti for taking such great care of us, I hope to see you in KC soon!

  • Joseph was a great host - very friendly and accommodating. The apartment was in a good location for the price, easy 10 min walking distance to Frenchmen street, bourbon street, etc. I highly recommend this place especially if you're going to New Orleans with a group of friends. Great host, great apartment - all around win win

    Larayne2015-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Joseph was an awesome host! He let us take anything we wanted from the fridge and made us feel very at home. The appartment was in a great location and Joseph gave us a lot of good suggestions for places to go.

500sq ft of space sleeps 3-4 with a nice outdoor courtyard space, onsite laundry, 20 minute walk to the French Quarter, in the Bywater neighborhood with lots of artists and musicians and yummy restaurants, 5 blocks from a new riverfront park.
Small and cozy space for sleeping and space for hanging out. There are two twin beds and one full size futon. I have another 2 BR apt upstairs that is also on airbnb in case you are interested - you can find it here https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/7384964
I love walking around my neighborhood and looking at the old architecture. I love the fun color schemes that people have used to paint their houses. There are lots of artists, writers, musicians in the neighborhood so it has a fun, creative spirit.
  • The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • Excellent place! Good location and lots to do nearby. Leslie is a great host and was very accommodating. Make sure to enjoy the pizza delicious pepperoni just a 10m walk down the road

    Anoop2015-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • The place was a great stay! The room already had the A/C on, which was a welcome feeling on a hot and humid day. After we unpacked our things, I noticed guide books and pamphlets on the main table, which gave us many ideas for what to do while in New Orleans! The beds were great to sleep on, and I enjoyed both of my nights there. I'd easily stay here again when I come to New Orleans. Close enough to the French Quarter, too, but far enough away to avoid foot traffic.

  • I cannot recommend this air bnb enough. My boyfriend and I felt super comfortable and loved how cute the space and the neighborhood was. Not to mention the hospitality we received. Hope to visit them again soon!

    Monica2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Leslie's garage apartment in New Orleans. The two of us were passing through for one night, on our way back home & are thankful that this place was available. The location was easy to find & was clean upon arrival. The best part, for us, was the ability to walk to the lively spots. The route took us through really cool, artsy areas that we had not seen before on previous trips. The area Leslie lives in is very quiet & we had zero issues. Highly recommend to anyone making the trek to one of America's greatest cities. :)

  • Great place and great price. Neighborhood is wonderful with lots of diversity of things to do and see. Street parking is accessible. The only drawback is the noise factor because the apartment abuts directly on the street. But, later in the evening it's quiet.

    Sylvia2014-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is lovely and the neighborhood very friendly. If you see someone on the street, they'll say "Hi". It's a short 15 minute walk to the Quarter (less to Frenchman's St). And there are great places to eat less than 10 minutes away (Elizabeth's and the Cake Cafe).

    Jonathan2015-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • My A.C. ran out and I needed a place to stay for a night and she saved the day like a an A.C. fairy. Her place is really nice, comfy, in a great location. It's quirky in that New Orleans arty way that you get no where else. No complaints at all, would stay again.

Great, 2 large room suite with king bed, new jacuzzi (someone broke the jacuzzi part) bath and all the amenities you need. There's a mini fridge (for all your great local leftovers), microwave, coffee maker, tea pot, brita water and cable/wifi.
2 large private rooms (parlor and bedroom) and full bath in a great location, with cafe & coffee shops nearby. The bedroom has a king size bed and the parlor room has a twin bed, if you need more sleep areas. I also have a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The space has your own private locked entrance and is just off my front porch, which is a great spot to have your morning coffee or tea. Easy off-street parking, too. I have 2 bikes you can use at your own risk, but you need to let me know before I leave for work so I can get them out for you. And I am asking for a $100 deposit if you use above the airbnb (to cover any loss/damage) and a $10/bike use fee to cover maintenance. Also, if traveling w pet need to approve with me and there is another ($100) deposit for pets. If you are a solo guest or staying longer than 6 days I will give you a break on price!
The marigny is the greatest neighborhood and this space is all yours--its your own oasis in the front of my house w own entry. Easy and close (usually just in front of house) street parking. You can walk to the French quarter, frenchmen st., or just enjoy all the marigny has to offer. I have cable, wi-fi, central ac & am willing to consider pets. Note: I have 2 dogs & 2 cats that are very friendly, but they stay in my living space. This is a great place to stay for an authentic new Orleans experience in one of usa's best neighborhoods (look it up, it's true).
  • Great house in a great neighborhood. Didn't see Kerrie much, but her suggestions for eats and sights were really helpful and tasty. Walkable and parkable.

    Adam2015-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kerrie's house was conveniently located so that we could walk to Frenchman Street and the French Quarter easily. Street parking was easy and the neighborhood seemed very safe. The two rooms were perfect for my friend and I to share, and having a microwave and frig was appreciated. I would stay here again.

    Carol2013-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Kerrie's place in the Marigny was our first Airbnb experience and it couldn't have been better. The rooms were perfect, the location ideal, and Kerrie was pleasant and responsive. We're pretty familiar with New Orleans, but have always stayed in hotels in the CBD or FQ. Living in the Marigny for a week was a huge treat and welcome change of pace. We ended up bringing our own bikes, but having Kerrie's available is a big advantage; bikes are the best way to get around New Orleans. By the way, her place is only a couple of blocks from our friends at Confederacy of Cruisers, who run several offbeat bike tours - not to be missed!

    Ed2013-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • This space/location is just right for checking out the FQ as you are only a matter of blocks away from the historic district. It (Marigny) is a great neighborhood with restaurants, coffee shops & a bar or 2 just 5 mins. away. It feels like you are living here and not visiting. Parking on the street was no problem. Kerrie was a great host and she does not come around unless you need her. She had suggestions on places to go that only a local could provide. Walk the blocks here and your jaw will drop at the multi hued exteriors I would highly reccommend this listing!

    Stephen2015-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • There was no surprises or disappointment here; Kerrie's place was exactly as described in the listing. We were in town for a long weekend and it was both mine and my boyfriend's first time in New Orleans. The house is in a perfect location for exploring the city, and is a quick walk to the French Quarter. The bikes are the perfect addition to the stay; more than worth the $10 deposit. Kerrie was out of town when we stayed here, but we got to meet Terrence who was a great host. We were even left a Britta full of water, which was the perfect touch to help keep our water bottles full in the 90+ degree June weather. I was worried that it would be too warm, but the AC was kept at a very comfortable level. The personal touches in the apartment are great. We got excellent recommendations for restaurants and things to do (we did the Honey Island swamp tour and saw tons of alligators). I would love to stay here again - thank you Kerrie for letting us in to your home!

    Samantha2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Kerrie's godson let us in and kindly showed us around, gave us recommendations, and let us do our thing! This was a perfect location, not in the craziness of the quarter but very walkable and bikeable to just about everything we wanted to do. Great neighborhood!

    Gregory2016-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My stay with Kerri was wonderful! As a local I can attest to the fact that her place is central to the attractions of the city (about a 20 minute walk to canal street, but there are buses and street cars as well) yet still private if you'd like a retreat. Kerri afforded us with the level of privacy that we needed, while still being friendly and suggesting new places for us to experience. The apartment itself is beautiful, with an ultra-comfy king sized bed and a jacuzzi tub. I love it!

    Chelsea2013-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • Had a great time. First time in New Orleans and first time using Airbnb. Felt totally safe. The house is super clean and tidy. I recommend it. The house is close to so many places.

  • This was a great find! We loved staying at this comfortable apartment which is at a convenient distance from most of the tourist spots. Miriam and her two beautiful dogs (Zilla and Cashmere) were very welcoming and made us feel right at home.I'd recommend this to anyone looking to make a short or long stay at NOLA since this is a place you would love to come home to, after a long and happy NOLA day!

    Muthiah2013-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Miriam's apartment. It was exactly as posted, the apartment was very clean and spacious and kitchen was fully equipped. It's a great place to stay if you're with a large group. I loved sitting on the swing at the porch and soaking up the morning sunshine!

    Gena2013-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Miriam was wonderful and helpful and we were checked in within minutes of the house request... And this place is a full house! 2 full beds and desk in the front room, and a queen and futon in the main room, which is between the front room and kitchen. The home is so charming and had all the amenities you could ask for, including plenty of fresh towels, pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc., as well as coffee and a washer and drying rack that we didn't need to use. There are window ac units and many space heaters for comfort. We were able to park in the driveway and the place was very awesome at a great price. We were lucky to find this place in such short notice and would recommend it to anyone visiting nola, especially groups or families for the value.

    Emma2015-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Miriam made us feel right at home. She was available for giving us suggestions about where to go around town or just for a friendly chat. Her apartment was just as described. Spacious, clean and all amenities, tons of tourist pamphlets and maps to help us organize our activities during our stay. It was in a quiet neighborhood with great neighbors and close to everything. We are already planning our next time down and to stay with Miriam again.

    Isabelle 2014-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, great host, very accommodating. Thanks for offering such a nice place and with incredibly low rates .

    Mary2013-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Miriam is really nice and warm, we love her. Her neighbors are really friendly, the neighborhood is not fancy but pretty nice. My brother and I had a great time. Because mosquitoes are like official birds of New Orleans, bring your bug repellent and use it in the late afternoon, and some bug bite relief medicine then you will be all set. Miriam's place is pretty convenient and you could take bus 91 or 94 to Canal street car, which all the store and fun things are. Every one in New Orleans we met are so friendly and so nice. Give them a smile or thank you they will definitely respond the same or even more to you.

    Nai Hui2012-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Miriam was a wonderful, friendly and helpful host, she really went out of her way to tell us about things going on in the city we would have missed otherwise. The place was spotlessly clean and great value. It's in a fantastic, authentic neighbourhood with good transport links; the locals were super-friendly. Highly recommended.

THE HOUSE OF SWEET DREAMS Hi, and welcome! I'm Andrew, Glad you found my listing! Here is a list of all the useful info about my house: **Pricing Fluctuates During Seasons/Holidays $45 is base price** "The Harem" is decorated and is an environment for you to feel welcome and at home. On your bed will be your own home made book of things to do, places to eat, amazing things to see, and everything you never knew existed here. I am flexible and available to accomodate any check-in or check-out time however, for regularity sake I suggest: Check in after 3pm Check out before 11am Check out my other listings, full of great reviews, and happy guests! :)
I Live in the Historic "Bywater Neighborhood" Close to the "French Quarter/Bourbon St." Downtown and the Historic Marigny Neighborhood/Frenchman Street A safe area where everyone looks out for one another, with families and young entrepreneurs dotting the area with eclectic bars, eateries and shops. There are several good restaurants, the "St. Claude Art Galleries", and the Mississippi River. A couple more blocks and you're at Two of the most popular coffee shops in town, Even more amazing restaurants, vintage shops, 24hr health food grocery, and many local destinations! Our house is a calm and beautiful ride along the Mississippi 1.5 miles to the French Quarter down beautiful South Peters Ave. Commonly sought after attractions within 1.5 miles of our house are: Bourbon Street, Frenchmen Street, French Quarter, Louis Armstrong Park, French Market, Spotted Cat, Cafe Negril, Blue Nile, The Maison, Apple Barrel, Coop's Place, Mardi Gras Zone, Mimi's in the Marigny, All Ways Lounge, and the Bywater, Marigny, 7th Ward, and Treme neighborhoods.
  • We never got to see Andrew, but he was very responsive when we contacted him about delays to our flight in to New Orleans. The place was full of other travelers, but everyone was respectful and quiet. The neighbourhood is a little quiet, but we soon realised its actually safe and there are several hidden gems—Satsuma Cafe and Elizabeth's—in the area. We found it's actually not that quick to walk to the French Quarters (25-30 minutes), so cycling may be the better option.

    Sheere2015-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful room--"The Harem Room"--in an old and old-fashioned shotgun house in old New Orleans, near the French Quarter. Imaginatively decorated (Andrew is an artist) with an adjacent clean bathroom and a large kitchen for our use. Plus a booklet describing various places to visit and drink and eat at, most of them off the beaten tourist track. Most of the places were on what my wife and I call the funky side, which we like far more than the conventional glitz of 4 star hotels. For a taste of the real New Orleans, this is a perfect place.

    Barbara2013-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew and Amanda are a bunch of very friendly hosts. I stayed in LeHarem and this location is just a cheap taxi ride away from French St and Bourbon st. Andrew was always available on phone and email for any questions. They accommodated a late check out on the last day without any hassles.

    Sathish2014-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • TheHouse ha beautiful and clean! My room was mervellous. I didn't have the occasion to meet Andrew, But I found everything I needed and I can't wait To come back in New Orleans!

  • The Harem in the Bywater was an even better experience than we hoped for. The place us extremely homey and the kitchen is great. We only met Andrew for a few, but he made sure we had everything we needed. The guide-packet he gave us was the best part! Definitely coming back

    Jesse2015-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew's place was my favorite during my USA tour. The harem room was clean and stylishly put together. It's really quirky! It's a walking distance from all the cool stuff in New Orleans. The free bikes were also a huge plus for us!:) Andrea was also very easy to communicate with and accommodating. He also gave us a information booklet with what to do around Nola. Thanks for everything Andrew!

    Bruno2015-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Although my stay was short; staying at the hareem was a great experience! Would definitely recommend the space.

    Anthony2015-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • The room was clean and comfortable, shared bathroom was clean and nice. The neighborhood is a bit off the beaten path, with a few good places within walking distance. Otherwise you will definitely want to make use of one of the free bikes to get around the city. The French Quarter is an easy 5 minute ride away. As advertised, the bikes are nothing special, the bikes that were available during my stay were all single speed beach cruiser bikes with coaster brakes. Good for a few miles at a time, but not as useful for longer rides of more than 3 or 4 miles. I didn't interact with the hosts at all, as I was busy out exploring the fantastic city of New Orleans. I would recommend this airbnb to anyone.

Craftsman bungalows and raised-basement houses join a mix of early 20th-century house types and styles to define Northwest Carrollton's visual personality. Businesses along Earhart and South Claiborne serve the neighborhood's commercial needs, while Ye Olde College Inn and Rock 'n' Bowl on Carrollton number among the many dining and recreational opportunities. If you aren't sure where Northwest Carrollton is located, just look for the lion statues atop pedestals that herald the entrance to Pritchard Place, developed in 1913.
  • The apartment was great. The stay was exactly how it was described. Very warm and cozy. Only 10 minutes from French Quarter. We didn't have an opportunity to meet John because we drove in around midnight but he kept in constant communication via text - nice guy!

    Chris2015-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • John was very welcoming and had thought of everything guests would need: from plentiful information about New Orleans to fresh linens to coffee, milk, sugar and condiments in the fridge. The apartment is well furnished with everything you could need: good selection of pots and pans for anyone wanting to cook, comfortable places to sit and relax (or work if necessary), and a very comfortable bed and great shower. In particular, we appreciated John's promptness in communicating with us by email and the very explicit directions he sent well in advance of our trip. Highly recommend this listing, especially to anyone who wants the convenience of a full apartment with a little room to spread out. The apartment is cozy, but also big enough that it can accommodate different activities at different times. John was very responsive and willing to do anything he could to make us feel at home.

    Janet2015-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at John's apartment. We were down for the BCS Championship game and we had the time of our lives! John's place was about a 10 min cab ride from everything we needed. The apartment was clean and John was a very gracious host!

    Heather2012-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • great place in a convenient location to bus and easy to get to downtown. Apartment was clean and neat and bed was comfortable with a nice clean shower with good water pressure.

  • I've had a wonderful time here in this pleasant, quiet apartment which facilitated me to work on a new book. John and Leslie are wonderful, very helpful hosts. The kitchen is awesome for someone who loves to cook. And with several farmers markets nearby you can't go wrong! I'll be back!

    Griselda2011-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jon was very helpful through out the entire experience. This humble abode is even nicer then the pictures! It's great loved it would highly recommend! :)

    Joshua2015-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • John was welcoming and accomodating and his apartment was perfect and. It was near enough to the streetcar, yet provided a neighborhood feel, rather than an impersonal hotel. We plan to return and would recommend this to everyone!

    Linda2011-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • John was very nice, easy going, very communicative from initial contact on-line. The house was beautiful and the furnished apartment lovely. Perfect homebase for Jazz Fest. This should be considered by Tulane/Loyola parents visiting students. . . much more private than b&b and just as accessible. I will be returning. Lori Lamorelle

"I would stay here again and again and again!!!!" Leanne, September 2017. The perfect place for travelers who love a great deal, are looking for the real New Orleans, and like to have room to stretch out in. Close to everything, with the friendly vibe of old New Orleans.
A charming one bedroom with room for two couples or three friends. The guest apartment is in a 100 year old shotgun double. There is a full kitchen, a lovely front porch for people watching, a clawfoot bathtub and lots of historic details like french windows, hard wood floors, high ceilings, and mantels in every room. The first room doubles as a front parlor with a futon that can be made into a double (full sized) bed. The second room of the double parlor is an eat-in kitchen. The back room is a quiet bedroom with a queen sized bed. There is also a single studio day bed, perfect for a toddler, child, or small adult so three friends can all have their own beds. As of March 3, 2015, there is a brand new mattress on the queen bed in the bedroom, and the bathroom got a major upgrade as well! The apartment in located in the Historic 7th Ward and is an easy walk to many historic neighborhoods, restaurants and coffee shops. There is on street parking and also proximity to buses and the Carrolton street car. Uber and Lyft are very active in New Orleans. City Park is a quick drive or a lovely walk and the French Quarter is about a mile and a half away. You might even catch a second line parade going by the guest apartment on a Sunday afternoon! The host/owner (me) lives in the double next door and is there to answer all you questions, make music and dining recommendations, give directions and help out if anything comes up. We are legal and completely in compliance with New Orleans's short-term rental regulations and laws. I own one unit on Airbnb, on a block with friendly neighbors where I am the only Airbnb unit. You can feel good about renting the Fun 1 Bedroom! I have been a host since April 2013, one of the longest running Airbnbs in New Orleans. I have over 200 reviews and an average rating of 4.6 stars. I am continually upgrading and improving!
Anybody in New Orleans will tell you how fiercely loyal people here are to their neighborhoods--and everyone is convinced that theirs is the best, me included. I have lived in the 7th Ward for 16 years, and I've watched as my neighborhood has come back stronger after Katrina (though you will still see the scars of the biggest hurricane in US history), while still keeping the best of the good old days.
  • We really enjoyed staying at Ann Marie's! We brought our bikes and comfortably biked all over town from this location. The house is exactly as presented in the photos and Ann Marie's descriptions, plus she quickly and accurately answered all my questions prior to booking. No complaints at all! I would definitely stay here again, gladly.

    Tori2013-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Charming little apartment in a nice friendly neighborhood. Clearly this is a viable, safe place to stay among people who care about where they live and who they live with - everyone said hello, no trash on the street and no problem finding a parking space in front of the house. Close to Broad and Esplanade, both serving as easy links to the whole city. The apartment has high ceilings with each room having a ceiling fan - we actually used the little gas heaters which worked fine. The kitchen is a bit spare in terms of pots and pans and the like but hey, it's New Orleans, you are supposed to be eating out. But the kitchen is nice for having a simple breakfast or being able to plan and prepare a picnic. The bath/shower has a tank-less on-demand heater so running out of hot water is not a problem (we had at times 4 people showering in the morning). There were plenty of towels and linens and we were able to sleep four easily. The front porch was wonderful for sitting and relaxing after a day of exploring and just checking out the vibe of the neighborhood. Finally, Ann Marie is a wonderful host. We had several questions at the beginning of our stay when I know she was at work yet she responded to our texts within minutes and was able to resolve our questions right away. Overall, for a charming, safe budget stay in the 'real' New Orleans you can't beat this one bedroom half-of-a-double shotgun in the 7th ward.

  • GREAT SPOT! Very clean, comfortable and really roomy, I was alone but it would easily sleep several more. Very convenient to the Esplanade bus to the quarter, and biking would be great from this lovely little home. I really recommend it highly - I will definitely be back!

    Heather2013-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in Ann Marie's apartment was fantastic from start to finish. My friends and I were there during Mardi Gras and she invited us to the Bo x of Wine Parade which she founded. She even lent us costumes! Communication with her was very easy; she responded quickly to any questions or concerns I had with her. The apartment itself was very charming and full of character. It felt like our home after being out and about the whole day/night. We had to turn on the heaters every night because it got chilly, but we're glad they worked well. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable and we had plenty of pillows and blankets. The futon in the living room was very comfortable as well. The daybed can fit an adult, which my friend loved. We had a car to get around town so we didn't get to try the bus. Thanks Ann Marie for a very fun Mardi Gras experience!!

    Tiffany2015-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • I had a fantastic time in New Orleans and struggled to leave. Ann Marie was a wonderful host and gave me the complete freedom to enjoy Mardi Gras and New Orleans as well as be on hand for all queries and even needle and cotton. I had an absolute great time, my only regret was getting caught up and missing Ann Marie's Bottle of Wine invitation ... hopefully I'll be able to visit again one day and join in Mardi Gras Ann Marie style. Thank you so much Ann Marie

    Elly2014-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The home is very charming. We felt comfortable from the moment we opened the door. We absolutely loved our stay. The house is centrally located and most points of interest are just a short drive away. We cant wait to return.

    Mari2015-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing! It had high ceilings, super clean & was a perfect cozy place for us newlyweds to stay :) It's located quite close to the French Quarter (about 8-10 minute taxi/uber ride). Fortunately we were able to meet Ann Marie, she was so welcoming and friendly! Wish we could've chatted longer. We definitely recommend her place!!

A cozy room with private bathroom & private entrance. The room has a standard double bed as well as a small refrigerator, a Table and chairs, and Air Conditioner among other amenities. A complimentary Breakfast which includes fresh brewed coffee, cereal, toast and fruit is available to guests, as is free use of our Bicycles.
This listing is for our 4th bedroom with private bathroom. The bedroom is on the ground floor and has a full size bed as well as a small table with chairs. Our house is a traditional double, Creole Cottage built in the mid 1800's before the Civil war and has been added to a number of times over the years. I was trained as an Architect, and have played trumpet since the age of eight and currently my trio plays at Tommy's Wine Bar every Saturday night. My son Avery and I are in the process of restoring the cottage to its original character. My Wife Liz helps run a Womens Clothing Boutique in the French Quarter (just a stones throw from Jackson Square) which she commutes to either on foot along the Oak lined Esplanade Ave. with it's 'Gone with the Wind' houses or by the use of her trusty old cruiser (This town is very Bike friendly). My Son Avery moved here from New Zealand a couple of years ago to assist with the renovations, and help run Airbnb. He's a bit of a computer geek and belongs to a local Steam Punk group. For those times you need a little down time, feel free to make use of our spacious (private) back yard, or find a spot on one of the chairs in our living room. Liz and I have traveled extensively (usually on a shoestring) and have friends in a number of countries, we're always happy to recount the tales of our adventures, or to listen to yours. It's a 20 minute walk(15 minute power walk!) to the French Quarter under those gorgeous 200 year old Oaks, surrounded by gorgeous 200 year old houses, on what used to be the old streetcar line. We have four beautiful rescued cats. Miss Doris Day from the Bronx and a few locals, Brian Lion and Rocky Raccoon and Prince Harry. Our latest rescue is Sgt Pepper a Border Collie.

  • What an amazing place to stay during my 2nd visit to NOLA! Rick, Liz and Avery were all extremely welcoming when we arrived. We had a great chat, and they offer a comfortable and beautiful home for all guests. Their location is also my favourite area of New Orleans. I would highly recommend to anyone traveling to this city to stay with them! Cheers.

    Mandy2015-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • I had the pleasure of staying with rick and liz during Mardi Gras. The house is lovely and rick and liz are so helpful and genuine. It is a bit of a walk into the French quarter but it's a nice one. I really recommend a stay here when your in New Orleans.

    Jodie2016-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect for one traveler or a couple. It has a private bathroom with a small fridge and a shower. The shower is kind of tight and dark, but it gets the job done. The host are nice enough to put a couple of beers and bottle water in the fridge which I needed when I arrived (the water). The tv was a little confusing, but if you're familiar with a Roku then you'll be fine. The private entrance is in the back of the house and The door leading into the main house is locked so you have to go through the backyard to get to the kitchen. I was in New Orleans for work and needed a quiet space to rest and this was it! Overall I really enjoyed the stay and It suited my needs. There was only street parking, but I never had an issue getting a space.

    Monique2017-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had such an amazing stay in the Creole Cottage! Rick and Liz were away for the time we spent at their place, but Rick's son Avery was there to look after us. He was such a great host - welcoming and knowledgable. He was there when you needed him but also gave plenty of privacy. Could not recommend this house more! Also a really cute area right hear the bike path on Esplanade. The bikes they let their guests borrow are super helpful and basically open up access to the entire city. We had the most perfect stay!

    Leah2015-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • The room is lovely, as are the many household cats. The location is convenient. We had a car, but were able to walk to the most common tourist destinations in half an hour. Rick and Liz also offered bikes to help get around. Take this listing if you like interesting places and hosts.

    Luke2015-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is our first time trying out AirBnb, and couldn't have had a better experience. Rick, Liz and Avery made us felt at home! My friend and I stayed for a week and enjoyed the comfortable bed, strong shower, cute animals, and of course great southern hospitality. Breakfast included (homemade muesli, toast, fresh fruit, coffee/tea) is also a nice touch. The room is exactly as pictured. Neighborhood is safe to walk around, and very close to the major attractions (French Quarters, Frenchmen Street, City Park). Garden District is a mere 20 minutes by bus (or you can bike - they have bikes for guest use). Very quiet, which is what we liked. Can't imagine sleeping in the French Quarters where everyone's partying like crazy!

    helen2014-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Rick & Liz's place is very central. 10 min. to Bourbon Street by cycling and 20 min. by walking. They are very nice people. You can ask them for insider tips. The offered breakfast includes coffee, toast, jelly, peanut butter and musli. We enjoyed our stay there.

Premises include approximately 800 square feet of indoor apartment space plus approximately 800 square feet of outdoor balcony and patio space. ❤️ RIVERBEND NOOK ~ DEN This listing is for Rosie's Cove Riverbend Nook, the den-middle room of the apt. Furniture includes a super comfy full-double bed with 100% cotton (some organic), soft, cozy sheets and towels,, hand-painted & sustainably harvested wood night stand with Himalayan salt lamp, armoire with shelves (not hanging space), hooks and hangers on the wall, shabby-shique bakers rack shelves for clothing and personal items, wooden hope chest, colorful wicker hamper, beautifully hand-dyed wall tapestry, and large window with flowy curtains that fills the room with wonderful light and river breezes throughout the day. Gorgeous, peaceful roof- and tree-top view. As is standard with dens in the US, The Nook is the more petite of the two bedrooms...a 'roomette'! Shared bathroom with rest of apt. Soft, cozy linens. Organic and/or natural shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion provided. Organic and/or all natural tea and snacks always available! This is a private 'shotgun' style bedroom-den (each room connects to the following room, like beads connect to each other on a necklace) which is the middle bedroom of the apartment with doors on both sides, as well as a privacy curtain separating sleeping space from the hallway. 2/3 of The Nook contains furniture and living space for guests selecting to stay in this room while 1/3 of the Nook--the hallway space-- is used for bookshelves that guests are invited to read from and dresser/shelving that host uses. This room is not a common room. You will not be sharing sleeping quarters with other guests, and it is low traffic. However, because of the 'shotgun' layout, there is less privacy than the queen bedroom and guests staying in the queen bedroom will occasionally pass through the hallway of the den during the day or may need to tiptoe through the hallway to the shared bathroom at night...zzz ;*). Also, guests staying in the den will pass through the common room to reach their room or the kitchen, bathroom, and front door. Other guests or the host may sleep in the common room at night, depending. On a privacy scale, Rosie's Cove rates the Riverbend Nook Room an 8 out of 10. As noted, this is a shared apartment. Each room is priced according to amenities, size, and level of privacy. Please be prepared to enjoy the communal style living offered, and that you are selecting, if you choose Rosie's Cove for your stay. Guests should also be aware that if you choose to stay during festivals, holidays, graduations, or large-scale events, you are coming at peak time and each room may be fully booked. If you feel you are looking for ultra private accommodations with your own bathroom, entrance, or amenities, that should be catered only to your needs...this may not be the best fit for you. All are welcome but please choose this location based on your excitement with the offerings, as well as desire to interact with host and other guests, rather than simply on price or convenience. Rosie's Cove is holistically-oriented for all! Check-in begins at 3pm, check-out ends at 10am. Free street parking in and around neighborhood. French Quarter approximately 5 miles. Airport approximately 12 miles. Train and bus station approximately 4 miles. Please visit Rosie's Cove Riverbend Gem Guidebook on Airbnb for an ever-growing list of local recommendations! You'll have to search close up on the map to find the buried under the abundance of locally owned neighborhood restaurants, cafes, shops, pubs, and music venues! http://www.airbnb.com/rooms/24999/guidebook/ ❤️ CLEANING CLEANING HOURS: 12-2PM DAILY except when I'm traveling or have occasional appointments. Guests are requested to tidy their space for easy cleaning and leave premises promptly by 12pm. I clean and upkeep the property many more hours per day but these are fixed hours for cleaning, restocking, and routine maintenance, all necessary for a healthy, hygienic stay. If I am traveling for part or all of your stay, have an appointment during cleaning hours, or other scheduling change, I will keep you informed, as I have more info, on housekeeping hours. Nominal cleaning fee of $20 per booking of one week or less, plus $20 for each additional week, for natural cleaning supplies and housekeeping services. ❤️ GUEST RESPONSIBILITIES Check-out responsibilities include bringing all used linens (sheets and towels) to downstairs patio for laundering, removing trash from bedroom, unwanted food from kitchen, and bath and body products from bathroom. Rooms should be left tidy. Guests are expected to clean up behind themselves regularly during their stay and double-check to make sure they have left the apartment clean when checking out. I periodically travel for work or family. I will keep you informed about my schedule and whether I will be at the apt for your stay before you check in. As my reviews show, I have hosted plentiful guests while on the road. While traveling, I hire weekly cleaning services and/or have a housesitter who cleans thoroughly once a week, tidies in between, and also is keen to connect with guests about all things NOLA, since she grew up here! However, guests are responsible for keeping their space tidy, along with the simple task of washing and replacing linens when I am not in town, which accounts for my lowered rates. This can easily be done on day of check out while packing, having breakfast, etc. I have a free washer/dryer in a little house on the patio, along with laundry soap, and check-out instructions on a white board in the Common Room, which I will text you as well. You'll just need to leave enough time, about an hour, to cycle through both washer/dryer, replace linens, and return room to original mint condition in which it was found. ❤️ SMOKE-FREE Rosie's Cove is a smoke-free environment. This includes all indoor and outdoor spaces--apartment, balcony, courtyard patio, shed, steps, walkways outside of entrances--anywhere on or directly near the premises. Guests smoking anywhere on premises will be asked to leave without refund. Rosie's Cove also is unable to accommodate guests who intend to smoke off of the property and then return to the apartment--due to the lingering smoke smell. Guests smoking off premises and returning smelling heavily of smoke will be asked to leave without refund. The above house rule does not include guests who've been to outdoor venues where smoking is permitted thus, have picked up the scent of second-hand smoke. ❤️ LAGNIAPPE Most importantly, Rosie's Cove hosts the greatest guests in the world! I always strives to be the hostess with the mostest and serve the guestests who are bestest!

  • This was my first experience with Airbnb and it couldn't have gone any better - Jennnifer is an amazing host and I felt right at home at Rosie's Cove. She gave me fantastic dining recommendations and lots of other useful advice and I am looking forward to staying with her again in the future.

  • Rosie's Cove/ Jennifer was my first experience of airbnb and it was a rewarding experience. Jennifer's apartment is a funky, eclectic space in a wonderful location to experience "real" New Orleans. The Riverbend area had everything a great neighborhood should: a variety of food and drinking options, good coffee places, great ambience and very convienient proximity to public transport and tourist sites/ downtown. Jennifer's wealth of local knowledge and her commitment to her role as a supportive host to her guests is evident in a myriad of ways.

  • Jennifer is amazing and so is Rosie's Cove. What a great vibe-so cheerful and relaxing. Jennifer provides a warm and friendly environment and lots of great NOLA suggestions. The Carrollton area of NOLA is an awesome neighborhood and I would definitely come back and stay with Jennifer again. Such a great experience! Thanks!

  • The listing is definitely very accurate! Jennifer runs a tight and tidy ship and the benefit of that is getting to stay in a place that is beautiful, positive, and uplifting. I enjoyed getting to meet Jennifer and the other people who were staying and the chance to have conversations with like-minded souls. I really appreciated all the effort that was put in to make this a truly special place to stay, and was inspired by the experience. Thanks Jennifer!

  • Jennifer was a wonderful and gracious hostess. Her knowledge of the area, history, and all things local is such a great resource for everyone who stays with her. She was kind and giving, and eager to help us in every way. I would be honored to stay with her again.

    The Art of Hospitality
This is NOT a full apartment, but rather a 1 or 2 bedroom suite in an historic SOLAR-POWERED Bywater shotgun house (1 Queen, 1 Double, 1 Bath). We offer the convenience of downtown, the unique energy of the Bywater neighborhood and the ambiance of an artfully appointed city apartment. Just steps to Crescent Park with some of the most stunning views of the Mississippi River and the New Orleans skyline. About our neighborhood: [Source: WikiTravel] Bywater is a neighborhood a bit east (down river) from the French Quarter with a healthy mix of blue collar folks who grew up here, and more recent bohemian arrivals. Artists and musicians relocated here when the French Quarter became too pricey. It is primarily residential but undeniably hip; there are lively pubs, restaurants and randomly placed edgy found-object art scattered throughout the neighborhood. Travelers and residents from other parts of the city are steadily discovering this neighborhood's old-time, laid-back charm. About your hosts: We are devoted to the art of hospitality, and welcome the opportunity to entertain friends, both old and new, in this wonderful place, and will assure you an experience that will be memorable for all the right reasons! About the house: A raised 19th Century single shotgun cottage, just 2 blocks from the Mississippi River and Crescent Park, with a green and pleasant, year-round, private garden. The features of this remarkable space include: -Guests have complete privacy (separate entrance to guest quarters, owners live on site) -Fine period furnishings, including a grand 4-poster bed in the "Parlor" room, and a custom-built modern wallbed in the "Kids' Room", amongst books, art works, found objects and more than a few small surprises to distract and delight! -Wireless Internet access -Buffet with fridge, stocked with bottled water, wine, juices, yogurt and milk -Microwave oven -Coffee maker (stocked) -Fine bath amenities provided by Poggesi (Fall/Winter) and Beekman 1802 (Spring/Summer). -Off-street parking available (inquire about details) -Easy access to French Quarter/CBD/Convention Center via nearby public transportation or bicycle. Please note that we are unable to accommodate pets or children of any age.
  • Loved this place! Loved New Orleans! Loved Stephen! Had a great time! We drove in from Austin at 7:30 at night and got to Moon Over Mazant around 5 AM. Stephen was up (and sharply dressed) to greet us. Rooms were so full of personality and comfortable. Loved hearing about the history of the house, the neighborhood, and the decor. First thing we did was hit up the free beer and plan our next day with their recommendations binder. :) His recommendations were amazing. Went to the coolest bars and great restaurants. My friends and I loved Bywater, so picturesque and historic (without being touristy), yet close to the action of the French Quarter. Stephen checked up on us to make sure everything in the room was good and we were settling in alright. He even gave us last minute recommendations to a really awesome club off the beaten track. This was my first experience with Airbnb and it was extremely positive. I'll definitely be using it again for other trips.

  • Lovely space and fantastic hosts. Moon Over Mazant is artfully decorated, comfortable, and full of beautiful antiques without feeling stuffy or uninviting. It's the most comfortable bed I slept in the entire trip. I loved staying a bit off the beaten track in the Bywater because it allows out-of-towners to spend time feeling local. Stephen and Jim were fantastic hosts, and graciously shared their time and space to help us get acquainted with the area and local flavor. We loved the garden and the entire property and will be lamenting the fact that we're not sipping drinks outside after work tomorrow. We left our trip feeling like we'd stayed with friends and consider this our go-to spot for any future visits to New Orleans.

  • We had such a wonderful time at Moon Over Mazant. We had a reservation with another Airbnb lister, but she canceled on us. To the rescue was M.O.M. ! Stephen's initial briefing was informative and helpful, and we were thankful for the extra body wash they provided (it was surprisingly luxurious). To say that the apartment was nice is an understatement. It is filled with an eclectic collection of Stephen and Joel (??)'s "stuff" as he called it. From collector dolls to old movie posters to old books on a range of topics. I could hear sounds of jazz wafting through the DOOR that connected the guest and living quarters, but this was perfectly splendid to me. The host left us fruit, yogurt, wine, and water in the minfridge. This was our first experience with Airbnb and my husband was very concerned. However, our experience at M.O.M. made an almost disaster into a super sucess. Thanks Stephen

  • What can I say that hasn't been said in the other 96 reviews here. Stephen and Jim were fantastic hosts. We arrived at the airport rather late and didn't make it to the house until 11PM. Stephen and Jim were having cocktails in the garden patio area with a fire going when we arrived, and were eager to show us around the accommodation and invite us to join them! Cocktails on the patio along with a rousing discussion of the neighborhood and city was a great way to start the trip. They even accompanied us to a local bar later that evening. As many others have mentioned, the hosts are knowledgable and available if you need them, but will give you your privacy if you don't. The house is great, complete with snacks, cereal, water, beer, OJ, wine, etc. The neighborhood is extremely charming and safe with lots within walking distance, include a pretty easy walk to the French Quarter. We will definitely being coming back to see Stephen and Jim, this great neighborhood, and lovely city!

  • What can I say about our stay here that hasn't been said in the numerous reviews left already? Staying with Stephen and Jim was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. These guys exude the famous 'Southern Hospitality' from when they greeted us on our arrival, when they invited us drinks and shared stories with us on our first first night, when they gave us recommendations, when they stocked the fridge with all manner of goodies, when they checked in with us via text to make sure we were having a great time - I could go on! Not to mention the actual space, everything about it is beautiful, well-appointed and comfortable. The Bywater was a joy to stay in, we were so glad we didn't stay in the French Quarter, there was more than enough to explore in the Bywater what with the great restaurants and more arty vibe than crazy Bourbon street. As a quick recommendation check out live jazz on Thursday nights at Vaughan's, wander around to Bacchanal to make your own cheese platter and enjoy some amazing wines, and get yourself next door to The Joint for some of the best BBQ that people come from all over for. If you're concerned about the Bywater being too far out of town there is a bus 1 minute walk away that goes right to Canal street, very convenient, we used it a lot. Long story short, stay here for a fantastic NOLA experience, you won't regret it.

  • Stephen and Jim were amazing hosts. The place was full of character and beautifully maintained. Awesome neighbourhood and their back garden is the perfect to start or end your evening. We would highly recommend staying here.

  • Stephen was an absolute prince. He went out of his way to make sure everything was comfortable. The apartment was charming and elegant. You couldn't find a better place in all of New Orleans. Great restaurants and clubs just around the corner. We hope to return soon.

    Spenser2011-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Moon over Mazant was lovely. Accommodations are very nice, wonderfully decorated and very, very clean. We decided not to rent a car for this particular trip, and the public transportation worked out perfectly. Stephen and Jim could not have been nicer, or more helpful.

Victorian-style 100+ year old house on Frenchmen Street -- home of the best collection of jazz clubs in New Orleans -- and still only blocks from the French Quarter.
RED ROOM Frenchmen House is my home. I share it with my new dog, Charles (a huge, cuddly, Golden), Molly (king of the feline world), and my airbnb guests. Victorian-style 100+ year old house on Frenchmen Street -- home of the best collection of jazz clubs in New Orleans -- and still only blocks from the French Quarter. The house retains the architectural details that make New Orleans homes interesting and beautiful -- 13 ft. ceilings, transom windows, original wood floors, and double parlor with functioning pocket doors. Very few renovations have altered this original home, and its charm represents the homes of its era. Great backyard for entertaining -- very private courtyard setting. Smoking is allowed in the backyard. PARKING: Easy on street parking, no meters, no time restrictions and always spaces available on my block. The house is a side-hall shotgun, so unlike a traditional shotgun, one does not have to walk thru each room to get to the next. Each room is designed to accommodate two guests. If you book all three rooms, you may have additional guests at $10 per night per guest that exceeds six total guests. Please know that it is never an issue leaving late on your departure day (leaving bags, hanging out, etc.) -- All I need is to start preparing the room for the next guest. You will never need to be out of the room before 11am. You can also arrive at the house early, even if your room isn't yet ready to check in. The regular nightly rate does not apply during certain events, such as Mardi Gras and JazzFest. See calendar for more details.
I love that my neighborhood is just far enough away from the hubbub to be (relatively) quiet and actually be able to park a car, yet close enough to be in the midst of it all with a very short walk.
  • We stayed for a few days in the Red Room and were very satisfied with the accommodations and location. Robert made us feel right at home with a great, helpful attitude and a beautiful, clean, artsy home. He allowed us to keep our rented bikes inside - it was awesome to not have to worry about them. Close walking distance to Frenchman St. activities and the French Quarter. The price was great when considering the proximity to the Frenchman St. gem and the French Quarter. Since the Red Room is closest to the street, it can be a little noisy due to passerbyers but overall it was no biggie. And a heads up that you're also sharing a bathroom with everyone staying at the house. Mind you, not once was this an issue for showering or waiting to using the bathroom, but we just figured people should be aware of it. There are also lots of toiletries offered in case you have forgotten to pack something, and a Walgreens literally next door. We were happy with our decision to stay here and would do so again. Thank you for having us!

    Sam2013-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • The house was gorgeous! Very cool old row house, each room private and spacious! Walking distance to everything in the French Quarter and the Faubourg Marigny. There is ample parking right out front of the house too! Joanne was waiting for us at the stoop when we arrived, showed us around the house and where everything was (even though we ended up arriving late, she was very helpful!). Everything was clean and stocked. Definitely recommend staying here!!! :)

  • Jo and Brian were excellent hosts-- full of awesome suggestions on where to eat & drink and how to stay safe in New Orleans. They were both so sweet and welcoming for our first visit to New Orleans. Their relaxed home was the perfect place to come back to after long days exploring the city-- from the awesome local artwork on the walls, to their adorable pets (we really miss their sweet pup Charles), to the pool table in the parlor. Even with multiple guests, the bathrooms were super clean! Their place is definitely just a short walk to the French Quarter but we felt more comfortable walking there during daylight hours. We ended up taking a cab home each night. If you want a funky place to stay with welcoming, down-to-earth hosts, this spot is the perfect combination.

    Blayze2015-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved New Orleans! This property is just out of the French quarter but is within walking distance to everything. It's a beautiful property, high ceilings and ornate features. Perfect for our mardi gras stay!

    melanie2014-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Joanne has a lovely home that is only a five minute stroll to the French Quarter. She was very welcoming and made us feel at home. She also has two cute dogs!

    Jason2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed for one night at Robert's house but we had a good experience although short;) Very cute dogs and a lovely little backyard patio. Area really good for visiting music venues.

    Frenchmen House "Red Room"
    483 reviews
Classic New Orleans "shotgun" house is located just a few blocks from the French Quarter and only two blocks from "The Marigny" with Frenchmen Street as main attraction that has jazz and blues bars and clubs playing all through the night.
A/C window units in all rooms except bathroom. No a/c in kitchen nor bathroom. Classic New Orleans shotgun house. Old details such as non-working fire places, high ceilings, claw-foot bathtub, wood floors. It is however 100 years old and has been renovated very recently but it still has it quirks and imperfections such as stains of paint and small cracks here and there. I'm updating this house constantly with better furniture etc but current state is NOT hotel standard so if that's what you need, please stay somewhere that doesn't have quirks and imperfections. Also "shotgun" or "railroad" apartment means NO hallways, eg; you walk from one room to another.
The house itself is on a residential block with families and young professionals in an "up and coming" neighborhood called New Marigny or Noveau Marigny. It's considered downtown and it's only 7 blocks from the French Quarter but is far enough from bars to be quiet at night. I walk down to the French Quarter in 10 min and bike there in 3 mins. It's also 2 blocks from the Marigny with Frenchmen Street as main attraction with jazz and blues music playing through the night, coffee shops, restaurants etc. However, be aware it's transitional and mixed race neighborhood. 3 years and not a problem myself but it's not Beverly hills or upper east side by any means. More like alphabet city, edge of the hip.
  • Isobel is extremely accommodating (we had to stay an extra day and checked-in quite late at night) and is very timely in her responses. The listing is exactly as described: spacious with the 2 rooms and with its quirks. The neighborhood is quiet at night, and what we loved about this place is how close it was to Frenchmen Street. My friend and I could reach everything we wanted to by a short walk!

    Joyce2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Isobel was very accommodating and kind. The location of her place was an easy distance to the great sounds of Frenchman Street and French Quarter. The time we enjoyed here in New Orleans was the best so far on our trips.

    Kely2014-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Isobel's place is very unique. I love all the vintage stuff and the bed was super soft and comfy. Personally I did not encounter anything bad in the neighborhood but it looks abit dodgy, so you have to be alert. It's a great location, near to food and cool bars!

    Bunny2016-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Isobel was a great host and very quick when communicating! Her apartment was tidy and quickly available for myself and my husband! She was very thorough with instructions as well! I would highly recommend Isobel's apartment to anyone!

    Rebecca2016-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • I have mixed feelings about Isobel's house. The good: it was a shabby chique house and close to the French Quarter and hip restaurants and stores. The not so good: the house needed a thorough cleaning (the bath was stained) and smelled of moth balls. The kitchen was under equipped, the beds were not that comfortable and the neighborhood was quite noisy. I wouldn't recommend it for more than three people. The house just isn't big enough and the hot water runs out quickly. Isobel was easy to contact though we didn't meet her in person. All in all we had a great time in New Orleans and the house provided all the basic necessities. Though I wouldn't recommend it.

    Pieter Jan2016-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was as it should have been. As the host herself says, if you're looking for a hotel ambiance, this won't be it. But the shotgun house is neat, comfortable, roomy, and you get an absolutely authentic New Orleans experience. One thing that made this especially good was there were two of us traveling, so we each had a separate room, a common area in the middle. Also, the location was ideal. We were within walking distance for meeting with two different friends, and the one major errand we had to run was an easy ten minute car ride just a few miles away. On departure, we were able to leave our bags until mid-afternoon which was super-helpful. When we arrived, the key box seemed to have been out of order, but the gentleman who was finishing cleaning the house let us in and we made a good connection--the following day after we had left, he texted us that we'd left a small item behind, so we backtracked and picked it up. Wonderful! By the way, other reviews mentioned street noise. There was no such problem for us. It was all quiet and good. Street parking, too, was easy. The neighborhood may look a little rough around the edges, but it all felt easy and safe. Still, this is New Orleans. Anyone taking normal precautions shouldn't have a problem. We wished we'd stayed another night or two. Isobel's place fit our needs perfectly.

    Ken2016-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay if you want to be close to the tourist locations. Description of the home and neighborhood was accurate. Loved staying in an old fashioned shotgun house! Great value and accommodations- would definitely stay there again when visiting New Orleans!

  • It was my first time in New Orleans and I had a lovely stay. Isobel was very helpful in answering my questions before my arrival, as well as providing clear instructions and good intel of the neighborhood and fun places to check out in the area. I would stay again!

  • Had a great two day stay at Darleen's! the location was perfect as we were in town to see friends playing at Tipitina's. The accommodations were clean & cozy. Very hospitable with scones on the bar when we arrived! great place to stay for people that know the real New Orleans! Awesome selections of Books!!!

    Jonathan2014-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Darleen's place was lovely! A guest house in the garden, ideal for people who wish for a quiet stay in a green scenery. Lots of cats, we didn't mind at all, but I thought I should just mention it. Darleen was really sweet and ready to answer our requests: we had to arrive earlier than the normal check-in time, and they let us in and were very welcoming. The place was clean and comfy. As liberal arts students we really enjoyed seeing all the books they had. There were 4 of us and the place was just fine for us, with enough sheets/pillows, a small kitchen corner and a nice bathroom. We had tons of luggage and we still fit. The neighborhood is really nice and it's also safe. Mostly residential but the house is very close to Magazine St. (where you will find cute shops, restaurants and bars) and 30 minutes away from the French Quarter by bus or streetcar (we particularly enjoyed the streetcar ride because you can take it all night and it takes you through the Garden District and goes by very beautiful houses). I'd definitely recommend this place for someone who wants a cheap, very nice place to stay in New Orleans!

    Laetitia2013-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • The room was perfect, it was very close to very nice restaurants that Darleen recommended. The bus lines were close as well. Would definitely stay again and tell others about her wonderful home.

    Sam2015-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Darleen and Michael were great. The place was cute and bigger than expected. They helped with any questions. The neighborhood is nice and has a few good restaurants. Close to what you want but far enough away for a relaxing experience. I recommend this place for a cozy stay.

    Charlotte2015-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in Darlene's guest house. The accommodations were clean and had character; the garden was delightful. Darlene provided pastries from the local French bakery, a short walk away on Magazine St. We ended up visiting the bakery daily. This was our first time staying outside of the Quarter, and the beauty of New Orleans was a revelation. I especially enjoyed the nearby antique shops. The area was safe and friendly, and public transportation was easy to use. We highly recommend!

    H2013-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • The neighborhood was great, we had a delightful time. The guest house affords the tenant a sense of privacy. The courtyard is delightful.

    Jim2015-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • The guest house was really sweet and intimate . We loved having wine and cigarettes in the garden . The outdoor area is really cozy , with a pond, table and chairs , garden lights etc ... Loved it

  • Darlene was a great host, although we never saw her! Everything was tidy and neat. Beautiful backyard with sweet kittens, too! She had also left us chocolate croissants - a treat we scarfed down after a day on the road. Great place to stay!

  • Andrew was was away during my stay but was readily contactable on the phone. Initially the house looked a bit run down but the inside was perfect. It was walking distance to Frenchman street and the French quarter. A personalised brochure of amenities/recommendations that Andrew gave guests was fantastic.

  • Really good!

  • Andrew has a great set up that allows his guests to be independent and knowledgeable about the area. We thoroughly enjoyed the neighborhood and Crescent Park. We have traveled numerous times to NOLA over the last 20 years. This extended weekend was one of the finest spent there. So good to see progress. The streets and sidewalks still need lots of work but there appears to be work being done here and there.

Our cozy Attic Bedroom which shares a bathroom (downstairs) with our #3 room, the room has a standard double bed as well as a small refrigerator, a Desk, and Air Conditioner among other amenities. A complimentary Breakfast including fresh brewed coffee, cereal, toast and fruit is also available to guests, as is free use of our Bicycles.
Our second listing is for our cozy Attic bedroom; ideally suited for the single traveler, although it is frequently shared by couples. It is situated at the top of a winding character wooden staircase and features an original dormer window which projects outward from the sloping ceiling (mind your head) and is complemented by a full size bed and spacious walk in closet for your luggage and sundry items. The room does use a shared bathroom (downstairs) but as most of our guests are focused on exploring the town, this is rarely more than an inconvenience. If you would prefer a room with a private bathroom, we would like to recommend our other listings Creole Cottage in historic Treme #1 and #4. It's a 20 minute walk(15 minute power walk!) to the French Quarter under those gorgeous 200 year old Oaks, surrounded by gorgeous 200 year old houses, on the old streetcar line. We have four beautiful rescued cats. Miss Doris Day from the Bronx and a few locals, Brian Lion and Rocky Raccoon and Prince Harry. Our latest rescue is Sgt Pepper a Border Collie.
  • Rick , Avery & Liz are brilliantly friendly and helpful hosts. Their lovely house was an easy walk from the french quater, even at night! it was great sharing breakfast with other air b'nb-ers too. i really loved the style and location of the house, but overall their laid backness and helpful directions and recommendations cannot be talked about enough! I really appreciated this as I was travelling alone.

  • Rick and Liz were great hosts! My husband and I took all of their suggestions for things to do to heart, and we had a better experience in NOLA for it! They keep their house tidy and are very hospitable. We enjoyed waking up to their dog Pepper at our door each morning! The neighborhood at first may appear questionable, but we never had any problems walking to and from during the day. We usually took a taxi back each night just to avoid walking on some of the quieter stretches. We would stay with them again. Thanks, Rick, Liz, and Avery for a great experience!

  • My girlfriends and I planned a quick trip to New Orleans for the weekend. It worked out perfectly at Rick and Liz's! Location was close to everything and they were such warm hosts. We absolutely enjoyed our time there although it was entirely too short! Oh, and don't let the exterior scaffolding fool you. Their home is warm, cozy, and adorable inside. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in the Big Easy– :)

  • I had an amazing stay with Rick and Liz! They are very warm-spirited and welcoming people - I felt very much at home here!! :-) Their attic bedroom is indeed charming and very comfortable to stay in. The room is equipped with a spacious walk-in wardrobe for your clothes, luggage, shoes etc, as well as an air-conditioner. Their dog, Pepper, was adorable and lots of fun to play with. Rick and Liz were incredibly helpful and knowledgable about the area! Rick was even kind enough to take me out for a small drive around time when I arrived alone on the first night. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and I highly recommended others to come and stay here.

  • I had an absolutely wonderful time staying with Rick, Liz, and Avery. They were the kindest hosts and made me feel really at home. They went above and beyond anything that I could ask for in an Air BnB stay. For example, I was running late for a meeting, and Rick volunteered to give me a ride there. He also offered to give me a jacket so that I could be warm at the meeting. Liz was fabulous as well. She always greeted me with a smile when I entered the house, and often made me some tea. I actually looked forward to coming back at night because of her hospitality. Avery was awesome. He was so friendly, and informative about the house. The house is in the process of being restored, and he and Rick are renovating it. Avery showed me around the house and it's amazing at what they have done. When my cab came to pick me up for the airport, Rick and Avery helped me with my things and said goodbye. I really felt that I was leaving a home and family. I would highly suggest anyone stay with them. Thank you, Rick, Liz, and Avery!

  • Awesome!!! Lots of love given by Liz, Rick, the dog & cats. I had a cozy room with a confortable bed where I could rest after a long day exploring. Liz & Rick made me fell at home. Thank you. Many bikes available. Situated in the center of many attractions. I totally recommande this place. Peace.

    Nancy2015-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Rick and Liz was like staying with friends. We found the couple incredibly welcoming and friendly. The room itself was spotless and very comfortably laid out with lots of warmth and nice little touches like fresh flowers. The bikes were a particular bonus and highly recommended for anyone that needs to see a lot in a short period of time. We took them out both days we were in NOLA and loved them. We really enjoyed our stay with Rick and Liz!

    Kaitlin2013-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had the greatest time staying with Rick and Liz. We arrived late as our train was behind and Rick was there to welcome us. The personalized note and beautiful flowers in the room was very nice. They had breakfast waiting and ready for us every morning and we really enjoyed getting to know the other guests visiting from Australia. Rick even made banana bread one day! We came to look forward to coming home in the evening or sharing our stories in the morning over breakfast. The backyard is comfy and we even spent the end of one evening sitting out there and enjoying the great weather. The location is great and we walked every morning down Esplanade to the French Quarter, taking in the beautiful homes and trees. Rick and Liz are incredibly accommodating and helpful. Rick even offered to drive us to the train station early our last morning if something went wrong with our taxi. Overall, this was my first experience with AirBnB and we were blown away. We felt completely at home and would definitely stay again when visiting New Orleans! Thank you so much Rick & Liz!

Please see calendar for daily rates! Some days are lower than others!
Built in the 1860's, "Little Orange" is half of a "shotgun"; thus, it boasts the hallmarks of traditional New Orleans architecture: 13 foot ceilings, cypress mantels, pocket doors, tall shuttered windows, and hardwood floors. The shutters are a vibrant orange to remind you of this city's Caribbean spirit. Bienvenue aux tropiques! The apartment is fully furnished and appointed, the space comprised of a living-room (with queen pull-out couch), equipped kitchen, one bedroom, and small bath. There's wifi, a large flat screen TV, burglar alarm, granite counters, stainless steel appliances, washer/dryer. And a great book collection too. The apartment is best suited for two people; however, it can sleep four when using the pull-out couch. As of Sept. 2016, there's a brand new Queen mattress in the bedroom: it's a Comfort Dreams Select-A Memory Foam (medium-firm) and very comfortable! Please know that when the couch is extended in the living-room, that common space radically shrinks. There's a $25 fee per adult guest #3 and #4. There is no additional fee for children. The front porch overlooks a full block of green space (Annunciation Square Park), home to many soccer and kickball games. There's a basketball court in the park as well (and so a basketball sits in the bedroom closet for you too). I spend more time on the porch than I do in the living-room. The porch also overlooks my small--but robust!--butterfly garden where a small fountain burbles. It's a great place to drink coffee in the morning and wine in the evening, and I hope the night-blooming jasmine is working its perfume when you're here! The apartment is an easy stroll to lower Magazine Street, known for its many boutiques, antique shops, bars, and eateries, as well as to the Warehouse District/CBD and French Quarter. Please check out my map/guidebook! I've mainly tagged places to which you can easily stroll, but I'm happy to offer suggestions for outings in farther flung areas of town. The house is not far from the Convention Center, Mardi Gras World/Productions, The Chicory (wedding venue) and Second Line Stages. If you are in town for a conference/event or working on a film, my location can't be beat. Likewise, if you're in town for a game, a cheap cab ride gets you to the Super dome quickly. This neighborhood has been dubbed one of New Orleans' hottest for obvious reasons. There really is a ton to see and do (and eat) right here. For those interested in getting out to explore other parts of the city/state, it's worth knowing that my location offers convenient access to I-10. No need to traverse all of uptown or the Quarter to find the interstate. The on-ramp is three blocks away, which means the West Bank is five minutes away, the airport, 20 without traffic. If you don't have a car, the bus runs along both Magazine and Tchoupitoulas. I bought this property for its convenience of location. Although the apartment is an easy distance to many hot spots, the neighborhood itself is quiet--another reason I bought this property. Your sleep will not be disturbed by traffic or street cheer. The Mississippi rolls by just two blocks away, so the hood has a sultry "edge of town" feel. I love this about it. Neither uptown nor downtown, it floats in between, spooned by the river. Regretfully, pets are not allowed.
Lower Magazine Street is made for wandering. Just two blocks away, it offers an endless stream of boutiques, cafes, bars, coffee shops, and restaurants of all price ranges. Many guests choose to devote one full day to exploring Magazine.
  • Beautiful and cozy. Clean and modern but still with New Orleans charm!

    Tom2014-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Jessica's lovely abode. Just a few blocks away from shopping and coffee joints on Magazine Street, we enjoyed the area and all that New Orleans has to offer. We rented a car and it was all a quick five to ten-minute ride to most neighborhood destinations. It's a nice leisurely walk to the Quarter too if you're so inclined, and the house is a stone's throw from the beautiful antebellum estates in the Garden District. We found the apartment clean, quiet and comfortable. It has a bohemian charm that we loved and Jessica was on hand to answer any questions. I highly recommend a stay here at Little Orange.

  • Awesome spot in NO. House was exactly as it was described. Very clean and comfortable. I love the poetry collection. The location is great, close to French Quarter, uptown, and Magazine Street. Taxi's were very easy to get from the apartment, and usually showed up 5-10 minutes after being called. Jessica is a great host and is readily available if you need anything. Thanks for everything!

    Austin2014-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Jess' little Orange, a nice railroad apartment with everything you will need in a neighborhood that one can quickly get used to. Cafe Mojo around the corner, fabulous.

    Richard2015-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was wonderful. Perfect sized apartment for a couple. The location was also perfect - equidistant between everything in the Garden District and the French Quarter. Both the bus and street cars were 3 or 4 blocks away. Plenty of restaurants and things to do within walking distance. Would definitely stay again!

    Jim2013-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Apartment was as advertised! Easy street level parking and the location was great! I would recommend it to anyone interested in experiencing NOLA away from the French Quarter alone.

  • What a "Pearl" of a find in the wonderful Warehouse/Lower Garden District of New Orleans. A great metaphor for the Big Easy's love of Oysters. Jessica, the Owner/Host was there to meet me with a warm welcome and was available via mobile phone if needed. She is beautiful inside and out with a passion for creative writing (poetry). Her creative genius shines in everything that she has done with this oasis of a home. The quality renovation has both classy modern touches and beautifully historic accents. The home layout was very livable and wonderfully comfortable. Cozy front porch overlooking a community park with playful neighbors enjoying their time with pets, family and friends provided me another spot to gently unwind. The place gave me a sense of peace and community that is rare to find. I will definitely return to this jewel and also look forward to toasting New Orleans' rebirth with Jessica. Am sure that she will have some good stories about this wonderfully resilient City that continues to give out love and hospitality to all who visit. They know how to live "Gratefulness".

    Deb2013-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Jessica's comfortable and clean house. The porch is a great place for drinking a glass of wine and watching thunderstorms, or playing with the friendly neighbourhood cats!

A third-floor oasis in the heart of the Garden District. The room features a queen-size bed, private bathroom, mini-fridge, cable TV, and a private balcony with sweeping views of New Orleans, all shaded by a stately live oak tree. Voted among the "Top Ten Haunted Airbnb Locations" by Buzzfeed.
Located in the heart of the Garden District, the Parks-Bowman Mansion is a classic example of the good life in New Orleans. Shaded by palm trees and a live oak, the deep porches on all three levels tempt you to rest and relax. The soaring center hall leads visitors to a carved cypress staircase ascending to the very top of the house, lit by stained-glass windows and massive chandeliers. There’s a music room, a formal dining room, a “ladies parlor,” and a fully appointed kitchen where you can enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee in the morning. Outside, a lovely garden surrounds a back porch for lounging and a full size lap-pool. There are three rooms available. This listing is for the Haunted Bedroom. Don’t worry, our ghost (a young girl in a yellow dress from the 1890s) is very shy; you probably won’t see her, although some people swear she exists! If you prefer, please check out our other listings: the Red Room, and the Library. The Haunted Bedroom features a queen-size bed and sitting area, and is one of the two largest bedrooms available in the house. It features a full shower bath, and also offer immediate access to the third-floor porch, with its sweeping views of New Orleans. All rooms have internet access, mini-fridges, and cable TVs. Our dogs (Moxie and Loebie) look forward to greeting you at the front gate, and while you may not see our two cats (they mostly stay in our portion of the house) they may sneak out for a visit. Our house is furnished with our extensive art collection, which we’ve acquired in over thirty-five years of travel. Oh, and a little bit about us: Adrienne Parks-Bowman is a novelist and screen-writer, and Bill Bowman is a documentary film-maker, music producer, and web designer. We can’t wait to share our house with you, and introduce you to the city we know and love so well. We’re right near Lafayette Cemetery, Commander’s Palace, the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line, and the shopping and dining pleasures of Magazine Street. There’s plenty of secure parking on our quiet street, and if you come for Mardi Gras, you’ll be just steps away from the parades! Come visit us and make us your home-away-from-home in New Orleans!
The Garden District feels like a small town, located in the very middle of New Orleans. You're close to the French Quarter, the Museum District, and the Bywater, as well as Audubon Park, the Zoo, City Park, and highways, if you want to take a jaunt to the countryside for plantation or swamp tours. The Garden District itself is justly famous for its stately mansions, lush landscaping, and Lafayette Cemetery (open for tours), and Magazine Street and its restaurants and shops is only two blocks away!
  • Fabulous hostess. Beautiful home. You have to see this place. It embodies the magic and old world mystery of New Orleans. Thy had Gorgeous and well trained doggies. Adrienne was so knowledgable about New Orleans and history. She was a great storyteller. The bed was very comfortable, had a lovely balcony and well stocked library. I stayed on the Fourth of July, one of the craziest nights of the year and was not once disturbed by street noise. The quiet and tranquility of this place is amazing. Would definitely stay here again.

    Meg2015-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Adrienne and Bill not only have an amazing, historical and comfortable home but their "Part of the family" approach to all guests is the icing on the king cake! We will be back, best spot in the Garden District!

    Jessica2014-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • I had the best time staying in New Orleans at the P-B Mansion. Saying it was The Perfect Place to stay is not even a little bit of an exaggeration. Adrienne, aside from being a warm, gracious host, is one of the coolest people I've ever met, and we didn't even get to spend much time hanging out with her - there's so much to see in New Orleans, and never enough time to see it in. (Until you move there, and even then there are so many things going on you have to pick and choose.) I would have loved to just spend a day hanging out with Adrienne and Bill. Then there's the mansion itself. It's absolutely gorgeous, outside and in. Everywhere you look there is interesting art, and upstairs on the landing and inside the Haunted Bedroom are books and books and books. The balcony upstairs is gorgeous, with a view of the city in the distance, while still being in the peaceful Garden District, where the air smells like flowers. The house is also very central to everywhere you want to go in New Orleans. Magazine St. is 2 blocks away, as is the streetcar in the other direction. They provide a list of restaurants nearby and around the city, as well as personal recommendations when you see them going out or in. We stayed in The Haunted Bedroom, but were too zonked out every night when we came back (late- very late...hey, it's New Orleans!) to notice any activity, although the overwhelming sense of welcoming energy in the room and the house overall was immediately apparent to me. The bed was also incredibly comfortable. I'm never staying anywhere else when I visit New Orleans, until I hopefully move there and I'll probably still stop by to say hi to Adrienne and Bill.

  • Wonderful stay in the PB Mansion. Adrienne & Bill were such lovely hosts providing advice on events for the weekend. Chicory coffee in the morning and a comfortable bed their eclectic New Orleans home. They made me feel right from the second I met them! wonderful experience with Adrienne & Bill!

    liz2013-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Adrienne and her husband Bill are so awesome! Upon arrival, we saw them relaxing on the front porch, and they welcomed us right away. The house is on a beautiful street, and it only got better once we entered. The whole house has a great warm eclectic feel, and you can tell they love living there. Adrienne offered us drinks before taking us to our room, which was on the third floor. It would have felt like more of a walk, but the house has so many things to look at, from chandeliers and stained glass windows, to all kinds of books. When we got to our room, it was exactly how it looked in the pictures, and right off the bedroom is the balcony which overlooks the street. I can't say enough how great our experience was. Staying here really gave my girlfriend and I the genuine New Orleans experience we were looking to have, and we can't wait to plan another trip back. Take advantage of this place if you can, if only just to hang out with Adrienne, Bill, and the dogs! Really the nicest people who make you feel like family. Also, the house itself is only a couple blocks away from the trolley, and even if you don't want to travel too much, there are a TON of great restaurants right around the house. Book it!!!

  • This is my second stay at the Parks-Bowman mansion. I'm delighted to report its better than ever! The location is hard to top... Close enough to 'the Quarter' to walk if you're energetic and an easy street car ride ($1.25) or drive if not. All other parts of the city are easily accessible from this Garden District location. The house is tip-top and so are hosts Adrienne and Bill, who go above and beyond to make you feel at home. One thing that has come in handy is Adrienne's guide to eateries both right in the neighborhood and citywide. Is there anywhere in New Orleans that doesn't have great food??

    nick2015-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing home in a beautiful neighborhood. Adrienne was a wonderful host. I will definitely stay here when I return to New Orleans.

    Jessica2014-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Adrienne and Bill were fabulous hosts. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived and they were helpful and took interest in making sure we had a great time in New Orleans. The Haunted Room was lovely (although we had wished we'd seen more of the ghost)! Their two dogs are also adorable. We'd definitely go back and recommend this kooky mansion for a unique NOLA visit.

Welcome to my victorian mini mansion .Come stay in one of the best private , lavishly decorated rooms in the historical Bywater ,that sleeps four close to the french quarter. The house and neighborhood will charm you with a stay youll never forget.
The Petit Palace was built in 1913. She has a relaxed and welcoming feel just like a southern lady should. I have been decorating and rebuilding this beauty since 2002 and it is definately unique. The 12 foot ceilings , hardwood floors, and lovely clawfoot tubs will take you back to a slower time and welcome you to the big easy.
The bywater is the newest hot spot of new orleans and as far as Im concerned the jewel of the city. This is the real new orleans. The people and architecture of the neighborhood are colorfull, creative, and friendly.
  • Felina is such a sweet host! She made us homebaked bread and even has a special 'food shelve' in her fridge for her guests :) She responds faster than lightening to any questions and is very flexible (we had to check in a lot later than expected and that wasn't a problem at all for her). The house itself is very unique and really adds to the NoLa vibe. There's AC in the room, clean and comfortable sheets and big fluffy towels. It's a sharing bathroom with three other guestrooms, which you have to keep in mind if you have to be somewhere early. Thank you for your hospitality, Felina!

    Tinne2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house is well decorated and Felina is very friendly. We love it.

    Di2016-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed my time in New Orleans. Felina really made us feel right at home in her house. She gave us great places to eat and they were amazing. The neighborhood was just like we thought it would. Daughter and I loved walking around and seeing all the different houses. Would for sure stay here again.

    Ron2016-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Felina was a very generous and knowledgable host. She made sure we were comfortable and told us some great stories. The room was VERY comfortable with an amazing 4 poster bed. The shared bathroom down the hall had cool decor and we never had problems coordinating with other guests as there was also another bathroom downstairs. Beautiful house, wonderful host, thank you for everything!

    Emma2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Close to all the New Orleans fun we were looking to enjoy...but not so close that you couldn't get a good night's sleep! Felina was a great host, the house is older and well lived in, but clean, comfortable, and had an eclectic homey feeling that we appreciated.

    Jay2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you are lucky to get a room at Felinas´place, take the opportunity to stay in this clean, unique and gorgeous house. Great location, wonderful hostess, easy to communicate with. Would recommend it to anyone going to New Orleans! All in all 5/5 stars!

    Charlotta2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Felina's. She was prompt to respond to all messages and the room was very clean, quiet, and spacious. There are some good little eateries popping up in her neighborhood. She is a great host!

    Zephyr2014-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fellina's was our first AirBNB experience. We loved the charm she has created in this old New Orleans home. From past experience, we recognize it takes a lot of work to renovate these old homes. Fellina was very responsive and a wonderful hostess. When our cab offered to pick us up an hour and a half later, Fellina was happy to take us where we wanted to go. She seems to thoroughly enjoy being a hostess! Our quarters were very clean with fresh linens and towels. And this was obviously a nonsmoking room as there was no odor of past smokers. The location of her home does require extra vigilance and I would not recommend females to walk around alone at night to catch a bus, etc. New Orleans is just like this in many areas. Our only criticism was the room's air conditioning. It is the middle of summer and getting a room cool is work sometimes, especially with grand ceilings. She has an expensive unit that was cooling well, however the cool air was lingering in the alcove where the unit was located. We got hot. Otherwise, we had a wonderful stay and recommend this to future travelers!
