Vacation Rentals in Laguna

Just booked in Laguna

Unlikely you will find anything like WALKERS RUN, only 90mins drive from Sydney! If you are over 22 (sorry,no children allowed except babies not yet crawling, for their safety due to elevated decks & cliffs). You will enjoy"W R",described as Rustic, Funky, Tranquil, with a “million dollar view".
Walkers Run features open plan living, wooden floors, ample floor to ceiling windows, spectacular views of bush-clad ranges with beautiful sunrises and sunsets,...AND only an hour and three quarters from Sydney. Situated on 30 acres of private property surrounded by native trees, Grass trees, expansive native bush and It's own bush walking track. Occasionally Kenny the Koala visits in the mating season, big Grey Kangaroos, Wallabies and Wombats graze regularly on the land. See King Parrots, Rosella's, Lyre birds, Goanna's and other native species. On those hot summers days cool off by floating around in the above ground, small but effective pool. There are 2 large decks providing outdoor dining, loungers, hanging chairs, 2 outside fire-places, (plus 2 indoor log burners) 4 burner gas bbq, (spit-roast, by request) outdoor speakers and outdoor mood lighting. Walkers Run grew from a classic “humpy" dwelling deep in the bush, to a larger “version". The original existing humpy is a cosy, carpeted lounge-room with a hand-made potbelly log-burner, reverse cycle air conditioning, a double sofa-bed and an extension dining table. Off this room is the smaller of the 2 decks, accessed through French doors to the bbq and outdoor dining table and chairs. A second bedroom is also accessed off the humpy. It has a comfy Queen size bed and unusually delightful décor. The bathroom is a mix of “Pink" vintage hand-basin, loo and original claw bath with overhead rain-shower. Towels are provided. A second toilet is located outside, in a "funky room" typical of Walkers Run. Plus an outside, open-air "cold only" shower for those hot summer days. Master-bedroom features a King-size bed handmade out of early settlers Post n Rail fencing and is “linked" with the main lounge room therefore sharing the awesome views, music, movies etc, however, can be screened off with a huge "block out" curtain if preferred. The main lounge has massive Bi-Fold glass doors onto the large main deck, floor to ceiling glass, timber venetian blinds, exposed timbers, slow combustion log burner, 65" Plasma TV, Bluetooth, Blu-ray, Foxtel, Home Theatre, vast selection of dvd's, air-con, ample seating including a second double sofa-bed, and lots of mood lighting. The kitchen is included in the open plan layout, with a stainless steel 5 Burner Gas Stove with oversize Electric Convection Oven, Teppanyaki, (only used for private functions) Dishwasher, Microwave, Food Processor, Juicer, Blender, Cake Mixer, Nespresso Coffee Machine (and pods), Coffee Grinder, Coffee Plunger (and beans). Guests have their own Fridge/Freezer (with ice on the ready). Third bedroom has a double bed and compact study with a selection of Board-games. Ample amount of parking on the property. Mobile phone reception is “patchy" unless your service provider is Optus or Virgin. Wireless internet is available on request. This is not unlimited, a guest prepay is available, 4gbs for $30, or 7 gbs for $50. Sad but the best any provider can offer us in Bucketty ! There are 2 general stores and a great vege shop 20 kms BEFORE reaching Bucketty, both stores sell petrol. Private Road One is 1.25 kms of dirt road so we ask you take care, not exceeding 20 kms per hour, with respect to the road, and especially to your vehicle. for more photos follow us on Instagram. #walkersrunbucketty

  • Wow. I will recommend walkers run to anyone. A group of ten of us had the most incredible weekend out in the wilderness. The property was like nothing we've ever seen before with so many interesting relics from around the world. The sunrise and wildlife just added to the experiences. And of course we can't not mention amazing hosts rob and Ruth who shared some incredible stories with us. This experience is like no other- go for it!

  • Great Host! Ruth, gave us directions to her place way in advance so we could be prepared, but location could be easily found with (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps, reception wasn't a problem for us. The house was clean, and nicely decorated, view is amazing!!! night sky was to die for!!! so many stars!! never seen that many stars in my life living in the city.. Highly recommended!!!

  • AWESOME WEEKEND! Thanks so much Ruth and Rob for allowing us to stay at your fantastic property. They were kind enough to let us bring our doggy who was eternally grateful not to be left at home all by himself... The house itself is almost like a museum, every time you turn around there is something new and interesting to look at. The big deck with the incredible view was just to die for and the fireplace inside kept the house so toasty warm. The 4 of us (myself and my husband and 2 friends) had such a great time just relaxing and going 'off the grid' for a couple of days. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone who truly wants to chill out and enjoy a great place to stay either on your own or with some friends. thanks again! we will be back! • The Walkers Run is a must try for anyone who has a bit of extra time in town and also wanting to take a Hunter Valley tour! My group of 6 stayed at the Run for 2 nights and we had a blast. The interior and decor is detailed to every corner and surface and even with two days, there were still a lot of stories and history to be extracted from the items and pictures on display. Ruth was extremely helpful in meeting us at the main road junction in her jeep then guiding us in. We arrived just after nightfall and was greeted by Rob (Mr Walker himself) and Kenny the Koala, who had been 'hanging' around for the last week. We were given an extensive tour of the facilities and tips on how to operate various electronics. The place is very well equipped with materials and utensils so perfect for cooking. We made a grocery run in Sydney and bought enough to make 2 full dinner and breakfasts. Being food enthusiasts, we were very excited to see a Teppanyaki station and took full advantage of that the 2nd night! Last but not least, it's being so close to nature and the Australian wildlife that really made this experience speechless. We had parrots in the morning near the bird feeder station and possums at night. Our groups highlight: having a few drinks on the porch looking out and up to the star blanketed sky (spotted several shooting stars!) all while listening to lighthearted country music blasting in the background with the sound of crackling firewood from the fireplace. Best part besides the place itself is the chance to meet Ruth and Rob and hear their stories as well as how Walkers Run came about. Ruth is very responsive and helpful and warned us of the fire ban in case of bush fires. Hands down guarantee that this is a must do and try! I'll be back for sure and I reckon this would be a great spot for a private celebration- my group could not stop raving about this hidden gem.

  • My husband and I recently enjoyed a delightful long weekend away at Walkers Run celebrating our wedding anniversary.Where do I begin to express how truly magical this place is?!? From the start of our communication with Ruth was fantastic.Responsive, helpful and friendly,I couldn't wait to meet her.She provided us with clear instructions to finding the property which made the drive from Sydney so easy. The house is very large and we appreciated the privacy and the intimacy it provided us.It's extremely clean and so warm we felt like it was home (it was very hard to leave) the effort and detail put into decor was exceptional and really enhanced our stay.we had the most relaxing stay, drinking wine from the deck which looked out to the most spectacular view (amazing).Thank you Ruth and Bob for your hospitality,we enjoyed sharing a drink with you,and really looking forwarding to returning bringing our friends.

  • This house is truly a unique experience! From the moment you arrive till the time you leave you are made to feel welcome by Ruth and they spare no detail to ensure your stay is a comfortable one. The house itself is beautiful and rustic filled with heaps amazing memorabilia and trinkets which make it such a joy to wonder around and explore. We went up to get out of Sydney and relax and that is exactly what we did, lots of time spent in front of the fireplace, the house is perfect to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this wonderful house to anyone wishing to get away for a relaxing weekend

  • What an amazing property and lovely hosts! We had a girls weekend at this beautiful place last weekend and just loved every minute. The view is stunning, the house is quirky and filled with interesting memorabilia of the wild west! The kitchen is so well equipped even chefs would love it! We spent the nights out on the deck by the outdoor fire, drinking wine, toasting marshmellows and relaxing - what a pleasure! Ruth and Rob are willing to help with anything you need. Its a unique and beautiful place, definitely worth a visit with the girls or your lover!

  • We had a lovely stay at Caromb! The house has plenty of room with all the amenities you need. The property itself is lovely, definitely worth a walk around. We visited on the June long weekend so it was quite chilly, a perfect time to sit around the outside fire pit. The house has ducted air con so was lovely and warm, very comfortable. Our experience with Melinda from first messaging her some questions to leaving the property, was all very fuss free & she was always available to answer any questions. The GNTP is only a short walk away and has a lot of charm, definitely worth a visit. If you visit on a long weekend, be sure to check out the Wollombi markets too! Overall we had a very relaxing time & would recommend Caromb to anyone looking for a country stay!

  • We had a lovely stay at Caromb. The house was exactly, if not better, than listed. It was very comfortable and well appointed. Melinda's house information was thorough and she was very communicative. It was cold the night we arrived, and she was in touch to make sure we had figured out the heating system :-) I highly recommend the house and will plan on staying there in the future.

  • A group of my girlfriends and I stayed in Redleaf and loved every minute of it. The house and its perfectly manicured gardens feel like you've been transported straight into Provence or Tuscany. I highly recommend this place, we most definitely will be back!

Lots of nice touches, including the Christmas tree, beach towels for the pool and quality toiletries in all the bathrooms. The kitchen was large and well equipped to make entertaining a breeze. Dean2017-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I rented the villa in late December 2014 with 8 of our closest friends who were visiting from outside of Australia. I can say without doubt that the villa made everyone's trip. Red Leaf epitomises a true wine country experience from the tuscany-style architecture to stunning landscape to the attention to detail to nearly every aspect of each room. The kitchen was fully equipped and allowed for us to enjoy some great meals at the villa, while there are 6 generously sized bedrooms and a few large, well decorated common areas. In terms of service, Michael was excellent to deal with, being both responsive and thorough to every question we had leading up to the visit. Having stayed in villas in Kelowna, Napa Valley, and now Hunter Valley, I can easily say that this is the best of the lot. Highly recommend!

    Farhad2014-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for a long weekend with friends and family and cannot recommend Redleaf more highly. A truly stunning property with incredible attention to detail. The hosts have thought of everything you may need to feel at home, if home was Tuscany or the south of France.

    Clinton2016-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our weekend stay at Redleaf was a wonderful experience. A beautifully appointed Villa was all that we could have asked for. From beginning to end our host Matthew responded to all our questions and needs. Spacious inside and out with beautiful gardens and walks and most importantly a great kitchen! We will definitely return and highly recommend to others. Five star.

  • Thank you Robert for an incredible stay. It was so nice to wake up in the Wollombi village and have a quiet coffee o the balcony staring at the beautiful view and hearing the birds. We loved that we could walk into town (5 minutes) and be so close to the wineries. Great accommodation and so nice to have the balcony to enjoy a book and a glass of wine. • Cute, secluded cottage which was perfect for our needs. Highly recommend the Myrtle House café close by - best food in town. For out of towners - please remember that there is very limited phone coverage and cottage does not provide wi-fi. We found this a positive, as it was fantastic to completely turn-off and relax.

  • We had a fantastic weekend at Ben's place. The views were amazing, the house very comfortable, and the stove made the evenings warm and cozy. We had fun walking in the bush with the dog and kids, and playing games and watching movies- - very relaxing! We had a good lunch at the GNTP and enjoyed the surrounding areas. A great spot to relax.

  • We really enjoyed our time at Treetops. Lovely house with a spectacular view right from the deck. Beautiful countryside around with lookouts etc. All was as stated in the description and communication was fast and friendly. Very dog friendly house and our pooch thoroughly enjoyed discovering the grounds.

  • The property is a beautiful spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is fairly secluded (30min dirt road to Wollombi) so make sure to account for this if organising wine tours in the region (some providers won't pick up from residence).

    James2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in the tree tops! Simple, comfortable and 100% relaxing. As most reviewers have said, aim to get there in the daytime / light - just makes it easier. Enjoy the views and sound of the birds in the morning. Beautiful!

  • Fantasic location. Excellent communication with the host. Overall, a perfect getaway.

  • TreeTops was the perfect place for our weekend getaway! Ben was very easy to communicate with and instructions were clear. The place had everything we needed for a nice and relaxing holiday, plus it was extremely clean! The house is on top of a cliff and had stunning mountain views. We brought our dog with us and he loved the bush walks! We played with provided board games and had loads of fun. You don't even need to leave the house. As it was nice and secluded, the night sky was just breathtaking as the stars were just a beautiful sight. I would definitely recommend TreeTops.

This building is a hardwood pole house, however all the interior ceiling and soji windows came off the 'Matrix set' in the scene where Kenu Reeves learns to 'hover in space'. As the set was built very strongly with all mortised joints it was too good not to use. We have a dam to swim in if its hot. Set in a a landscaped secluded valley with orchard, vineyard and magnificent trees. The house is 'stand alone' solar and gas for cooking and hot water. We welcome all people.
A great place for couples, families or small groups The location of the house is at the end of a dirt, (all weather) track which is fine for normal cars. The property is 40 acres of grassed and tree'd valley flat and wooded hills. It is listed as 'wildlife protected' and has many Kangaroos, Wallabies, Wombats and other wildlife as well as a myriad of birds such as Lyrebirds, King parrots, Yellow- tailed cockatoos, Bower birds and Wedge-tailed eagles. We therefore expect that quests will be respectful and not unnecessarily noisy. Motor bikes and shooters are not welcome.
We are on the edge of the Blue Mountains, Wollomi World Heritage Reserve. An area unique in the world and full of an abundant assortment of Australian native animals. We are close to the historic township of Wollombi and the 'Great North Road', which was built by convicts in the early 1800s.

Our train deck is the perfect place to hang out and watch our huacaya alpacas, miniature cattle, guinea fowl and chickens move about the farm totally surrounded by bushland and creek frontage. Our farm has been featured on the ABC Newcastle and Hunter Coastal Lifestyle magazine. A perfect glamping farmstay for 4 people.
GNTP Great Northern Trading Post for Friday night dinners is wonderful & no reservations required. See their web page for their Friday night menu. The historical Wollombi Valley village for lunch at Bruno's or Myrtle Cafe plus there are many boutique wine makers based around Wollombi Valley and Broke and Pokolbin is about 40 mins drive. There is a website called Wollombi Valley Tourism which has detailed list of places and events on.
  • Can't really put into words how amazing this experience was! Attention to detail in every corner, hands down the best weekend we have had - can't wait to go back :)

  • Highly recommended if you are looking for a peaceful weekend away from your busy city lifestyle! Daniela & Euan have created their own paradise in Laguna, and they are giving everyone a chance to experience it! This place is the ideal location for a calm and peaceful getaway from the busy city, only a couple of hour from Sydney and at the doors of the Hunter Valley! The hut is small but charming, clean and well maintained with a very comfortable double bed. Cooking and Showering in an old refurbished Sydney train was also a great surprise and add to the charm of the place! Daniela & Euan were welcoming and happy to discuss about farming and lifestyle, and they were helpful in suggesting activities in the area. 10/10 One of my best AirBnB experience! I will definitely go back soon...

    Julien2017-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This isn't an average farm, it is definitely off the grid and incredible. Daniela and Euan are super friendly. It is clear that they have taken great attention to detail to prepare an 'experience' for anyone staying at the farm.

    Benny2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended! We loved everything about our stay! Daniela made us feel very welcome. Perfect for a stress free and relaxing getaway; Daniela had everything we needed. The hut was cute, cosy and comfortable. Location was beautiful, especially for all those animal lovers like myself. The bathroom was a real luxury for us, beautiful features and fixtures throughout. We felt very lucky to have stayed there. We enjoyed everything about it and definitely will be headed back soon.

    Claire2017-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts, with a truly rustic feel off the grid.

    Sean2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful spot to explore Laguna and Wollombi from. The Shepherds hut was awesome as was the property. Daniela and Euan were great hosts. We would thoroughly recommend this property .

    Lindsay2017-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful, peaceful weekend getaway completely off the grid. Fantastic if you are looking to get back to nature away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Very comfy beds and living area/outside space. Everything you need including a bbq, wood fire pizza oven and full kitchen. Limited lighting at night was our only difficulty, but it is camping! Daniella and her husband were very helpful, informative and passionate about their farm and eco-living; they even brought us freshly baked bread one morning! Would definitely recommend ☺

    Tom2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Daniela and Euan were the perfect hosts from the get go and left no stone unturned in making sure our stay was comfortable. The directions they gave us were very clear and easy to follow. Laguna is off the grid but we got there with zero hiccups. We got a tour of the farm and a chance to feed the alpacas as soon as we arrived. The converted train carriage, the deck (with the outdoor bath and hammocks) were a thoroughly enjoyable experience. This farm is a perfect weekend getaway if you're looking to unwind and relax. Highly recommended as an experience not to be missed!!

There are vineyards to visit, a graveyard to stroll though, and beautiful and thoughtful walks. • The photos are amazing, but it's even better than it looks. Brilliant value, wonderful host. Very peaceful. Great places to eat nearby!

  • We loved our stay. The outlook was beautiful. The cabin was lovely, private, comfortable and clean. We would recommend staying here and would stay again. :)

  • Super beautiful place with great views, pretty seating areas outside and gloriously cosy inside the house. The bathroom is fabulous! Cannot wait to come back and will highly recommend to friends and family. Jacqui was an excellent host, although we never physically met. Thanks a lot!

    Eleanor2017-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Picture perfect! We had a wonderful weekend stay in this dreamy little cabin. It's a short walk to Wollembi and has everything you need for comfort. We especially enjoyed the fabulous windows overlooking the river and morning mist. The cabin was spotless and our hosts were on hand in case we needed extras like firewood. We also loved the village and exploring the nearby wineries. I highly recommend Cowboy's Cottage for a quiet weekend break or as a base for exploring the Hunter region. We'll certainly be back!

    Julie2017-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect couple's getaway in nature. Absolutely gorgeous drive from Sydney, incredible views from the cabin's outdoor area in the sun, amazing bathtub and a stillness that rejuvenates the soul. Highly recommended!!

  • If you are ever going to Woolombi, definitely stay at The Cowboy Cottage owned by Craig & Jacqueline. The cottage has been built using reclaimed products and is truly stunning inside and out. The interior decor is beautiful, and the location is great for a short walk to the village, local vineyards and the Woolombi Tavern. You will have a really wonderful stay here - we give it five BIG stars!

    Samuel2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Jacqueline’s Cabin. It is extremely well located only a short stroll from town. The cabin is everything the photos suggest it will be – comfy & well equipped. Very good value for money.

    Gavin2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay, very peaceful with a beautiful outlook. Very close to Wollombi. The cabin is kitted out well, and is decorated in a lovely French provincial type style. Would go back to try out the fire place and fire pit in winter!

  • Incredibly relaxing location. Wayne and Michelle were very friendly and accomodating

    Ross2014-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is the epitome of relaxation! The surroundings are beautiful, and it really feels remote and far far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but still within easy driving distance. The photos really don't do justice to the stylish, eclectic, homely style of the house. The beds were really comfortable, and the home was very clean (even by my clean freak standards). Wayne and Michelle went out of their way to accommodate us us at very short notice even though they weren’t prepared for another group of guests. Wayne was onsite working for part of our stay (in a separate small work cabin), by prior arrangement, and he was extremely welcoming and helpful. He was a pleasure to deal with, one of life's nice guys! It was the perfect way for our big family to spend some quiet time together, but still with enough space not to be on top of each other. And for somewhere to eat or for coffee, both the pub in Laguna and the cafes in nearby Wollombi were a good option. I highly recommend this for a relaxing break. We stayed for 2 nights, but I could have happily stayed for at least a week.

    Sarah2016-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Private spot in the bush 15mins down a dirt track away from the main laguna shops. Big living space well set up with bbq and outdoor living spaces hosts were great communicator as very accommodating would definitely stay again. Great get away from the hustle and bustle of the city!

    Julia2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • The house exceeded expectations - to be honest I don't think the photos do it justice. It was the kind of stay which leaves you thinking you should do it more often. For a secluded, romantic weekend away this place is hard to top.

    Dan2016-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Knight's Ridge is a fantastic property - spacious, clean, well-equipped and surrounded by gorgeous nature. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here if you're looking for a bit of country solitude close to the Hunter Valley.

Close to Wollombi and the rest of the Hunter Valley, Maggie's is a light, bright and characterful cottage, with its own secluded 100 acres to explore. It's perfect for couples, families (with kids), or singles wanting to enjoy the quiet and beauty of the Australian country side.
Newly renovated, Maggies feels clean, simple, modest yet cosy....and is surrounded by beautiful, rustic Australian countryside. - 2 bedrooms with queen beds, 1 bedroom with 1 bunk and 1 single that can be pulled out to double. (perfect for up to 6 adults or 4 adults and 4 kids) - Fully equipped kitchen, kettle, oven, mircrowave, nespresso machine, kettle etc etc - Lovely cosy wood burner - Outside BBQ and table - Good quality linen and towels - Collection of books, magazines and board games - TV with DVD player - Fire pit - Trampoline for kids
One of the most beautiful spots in the Hunter Valley...outside of the obvious commercial centre...yet Wollombi offers cafes, pub, shop which are wonderfully welcoming and unique.
  • The house was fantastic. It had everything you needed and really thoughtfully furnished. The place was super clean and new which is nice to come back to after a day in the bush! So close to Sydney and in a great spot in the Hunter Valley to explore the region. Loved our stay and we will be back!

    Laura2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We fell in love with Maggie's! Some friends and I spent a weekend reconnecting and sharing each other's company. We had such a perfect time and we're sad to leave. The highlight was having the open fire pit under the sky full of stars. Maggie's is so sweet and comfortable, the windows are so big you feel like you're enjoying the serenity of the bush while being inside.

    Karlie2017-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Driving up to Maggie's in total darkness, we came across a welcoming wallaby within a minute of entering the gates, and the directions Amy provided made it easy to navigate up the hill. On reaching the clearing that the cottage is nestled on, we were blown away by the stunning, secluded location and the quality of the accomodation. Beautifully furnished, equipped to an extremely high standard and with - honestly - the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The facilities and provisions are fabulous; it felt like staying in a five star hotel in the middle of nowhere. You can look forward to misty mornings sitting on the deck (watching the sunrise, if you can tear yourself away from the ridiculously comfy bed) and evenings drinking wine by one of two fires (one inside, and a delightful fire pit, which overlooks the valley.) The bellbirds and kookaburras provide a gentle alarm, but one which is too easy to ignore (did I mention how comfortable the beds are?!) although birdsong delivers a perfect start to a relaxing day in the country. Local wineries (Noyce a standout) are within a ten minute drive. Maggie's owners are incredibly thoughtful and helpful, and the lack of internet provides much-needed down time. Bring a DVD or a book (or don't; there are plenty provided) and kick back, regroup, and finish the weekend a far less stressed person than the one who met the wallaby on the way in.

  • Maggies is the perfect cottage to spend the weekend away in the beautiful countryside. We woke up to the sounds of nature and Kangaroos were right in front of the windows! :) The house has absolutely everything you need. It is very cosy and comfortable. The house is very nicely decorated and well equipped for kids (trampoline , high chair etc.) We would love to come back soon and definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a real Australian countryside experience.

  • Wonderful stay - great communication. The property is tucked away, quiet and perfect for a digital detox. Set away from the road at the top of a hill so a little tricky in the dark on our arrival but wonderful view to wake up too and we settled in nicely. Great stay - thank you

Comfortable house and kitchen with all the essentials for cooking up the great local produce including the hamper we got from Natalie's farm down the road. Location was perfect for venturing into Wollombi and beyond. Very recharged after those few days, will stay again for the next Hunter Valley concert.

  • Byora was a wonderful farm stay house for our family. The local homegrown and homemade produce was especially appreciated. Watching the views through changing weather was marvellous as well as seeing the farm in action. The air conditioning did a wonderful job in the heat to keep us cool. The local New Year fireworks were amazing as was the Wollombi coffee venues for places to visit.

  • Three of us came to Byroa farmsted for a wedding in Wollombi. We we very happy with the accommodation, everything was clean and Natalie and Dean were close at hand when we had some questions about the property and area. I had heard that some of the other properties in the area were haunted, but we are happy to report that Byroa isn't haunted at all. We HIGHLY recommend staying here if you need to be anywhere near the area.

  • This was a wonderful chance to stay in a genuine historic cottage. Peter was great, giving us a wine tasting and supplying a superb red wine to share with our evening meal. The only down side .....that we had only booked one night! Still ....we will just have to return!

  • Our time at Settlers Cottage was wonderful - Peter made us feel very welcome from start to finish - he even went to the trouble of organizing a cake for my partners birthday.

  • We absolutely loved our time at Undercliff, the cottage is amazing, with such a relaxing and homely feel. Really enjoyed Peters wine tasting and all the information he gave us on how they make the wine. Loved walking around the property and relaxing, will defiantly come again. Thanks!

    Daniel2015-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Overlooking vineyards and rolling hills, the cottage was rustic and well maintained. The log fire was perfect for a cold winters night and we really enjoyed our stay. Peter and Jane were friendly hosts and make some great wines (we were able to taste test and purchase on the property). Overall, a great stay.

    Henry2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great stay at Settlers Cottage and would highly recommend it! Peter was a great host and made us feel very welcome. The cottage itself has so much character and is lovely and rustic - it is like stepping back in time! We loved sitting by the fireplace drinking some amazing wine :) If you are coming here in winter bring lots of warm clothes! There are electric blankets, heaters and the fire but you will still need to be rugged up - it is an old cottage so the windows aren't tightly sealed and there isn't much insulation - it didn't bother us though as it added to the charm of the place! The cottage was well equipped with everything you needed including tea and coffee. Absolutely beautiful secluded setting surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills. Plenty of wildlife around including birds, kangaroos and even a wombat!

    Emma2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Settlers Cottage is just as fabulous as you will think it will be, actually more so, from the pics. The land is beautiful & so quiet. The cottage is beyond picturesque. Wollombi is so cute... And peters wines are delicious! The cottage is a slice of history perfect to snuggle up and play games.

  • Shane's place was the perfect spot for a scenic weekend. The accommodation itself was clean and modern, and the setting was quiet and an ideal location to visit the Hunter Valley wineries. We were greeted by a wombat and kangaroos on our drive as we arrived. Would definitely recommend it :)

  • We enjoyed a peaceful stay on the property. It’s quiet and green, with easy walks down country dirt roads. Shane was a great host. Recommended.

  • Wollombi bush retreat beautiful location, peaceful . The house itself was very clean; plenty of pantry staples and all other amenities. Would highly recommend and we will come back to stay again hopefully in the near future.

Fernances Creek Farm is one hour north of Sydney (from Wahroonga) in the picturesque Wollombi Valley. Ten minutes from Laguna with the Watagan Mountains and Yengo National Park on our doorstep. Hunter Valley vineyards start with us, with the main Broke and Pokolbin vineyards 45 minutes away. Our farmstay is a Haflinger Horse stud, with show jumping and eventing facilities. Great for couples and families.
The Clubhouse has a comfortable queen bed with adjacent kitchen, dining and separate bathroom. Extra guests can be accommodated in our luxury Darche AirVolution tents sized for six but setup with two single beds. Sheets, pillows and doonas are all supplied.
  • Gorgeous location with bush, farm and vineyard views. Very quiet. The facilities are basic but very comfortable, and everything we needed was there. Lovely comfortable beds (including the ones in the tent). Paul was ready with the gate open to greet us, even though it was late. Wonderful friendly hospitality from everyone working on the property. We weren't even looking for a farmstay, but it was much more relaxing than a motel! The woodstove was lovely - on a cold night you would really need it.

  • My husband and I had a wonderful time with Paul and Sharon at their farm and vineyard. The location was divine- completely secluded and peaceful yet under an hour from the heart of the wine region (and Sydney). We enjoyed a lovely romantic break: The outdoors, fresh air and a glass of wine from Paul and Sharon's vineyard whilst gazing at the stars round the log fire was perfect for us (we were able to see Jupiter, Saturn and the Milky Way). We felt thoroughly looked after with home baked cookies on arrival and a breakfast cooked by Sharon every morning (the muffins and honey butter were divine). The beds were comfortable too with real cotton sheets. We slept so well. Also worth asking if you can bring the kids- Paul agreed to let our toddler (18 months) and baby join us. Our baby slept so well and our toddler thought he was on old Macdonald's farm (!). There is some heavy machinery to watch out for but it was perfect for them. As a stud farm/horse riding location/vineyard there were no cockerels waking us up at 5am. Just the fun stuff- my son loved petting the horses and dogs and visiting the cows. We even saw some kangaroo. Paul also has a blue tractor which our toddler thought was the best thing ever. We'll always remember our farm stay with Paul and Sharon. If you can- book it!

    Marie2017-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed at many airbnb places in many countries but Paul's place was the best place by far. We feel lucky to have come across his place and would recommend to anyone that needs a place to stay when going for a trip nearby e.g. Hunter Valley. Thanks again Paul for the great hospitality and the fantastic wine!

    JangHwan2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Paul’s place with a 5 year old. We enjoyed the stay. My favourite was the tent outside, best place to sleep during spring and summer. My daughter’s vote goes to the animals.

    Gopal2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed staying at Paul's place. It was remote, but located in a very beautiful valley in a very nice region! The bed was very comfortable and everything we needed was available.

    Erik2017-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • The place is absolutly gorgeous. It is beautiful and seclude with senic views of vineyards and paddocks. The hosts are very hospitable. They made our visit memorable and pleasant.

    Olga2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place for indoor/outdoor living. Beautiful to enjoy a glass of wine when practically sitting next to the vineyard. Lots of space to roam and beautiful horses to admire. The perfect spot for a getaway!

    Carolin2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • It was great experience for our short stay. Owner was very nice, and showed us different horse types, and that was great fun for all of us, especially for kids. We cooked our brunch, enjoyed it with the sunshine, enchanted in this picturesque moment.

  • This place is awesome. From the hot tub to the fireplace to the eggs from the hens...we were meant to go to a concert and we ended up staying in and soaking up the gorgeous cozy atmosphere. Extra points for how relaxing the rain sounded against the roof!

  • What a beautiful little peace of paradise! Absolute serenity, such a lovely hidden gem that was like heaven on earth! Thank you so much Lindsay and Pam for being wonderful hosts. The amazing artistic detail in the home was a feast for the eyes. You can see how much love and labour has been put into this place! Thank you for giving us this opportunity. It was amazing!

  • We were so lucky to celebrate our anniversary at the cottage and had fantastic time. The cottage was beautiful, cozy, clean and comfortable. Highlight of our trip were fire place which warmed not only our bodies but also our hearts; hot jacuzzi under the star in winter evening which was like magic; farm eggs and fresh coffee for the morning which were so delicious. Moreover, we feel the love and care Pam and Lindsay has put into every little details of the place, which is the unique feeling. Pam and Lindsay were great hosts who gave us their personal thought and care while respect our privacy.

    Ngoc2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Pam and Lindsay for a wonderful stay. Your home is magnificent. Beautifully handcrafted, spectacular view, and beautiful native bird life. After a hard day touring wineries it was lovely to relax in the spa before falling into the big comfortable beds. Thank You Nat, Jez, and Nathan. PS we may have fed Buddi (farm dog) a few sausages, but he did ask politely and did a few tricks for us.

    Natalie2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Pam and Lindsay's place was amazing!! The perfect getaway from city life. Everything exceeded our expectations. Will definitely be recommending and would love to come back !

  • Staying in five-star hotels is all well and good … I have to confess to being a bit partial to doing so myself. However, I cannot recall having ever left even the best of those with so heightened a sense of needing to return as I did when the time for my stay at Cranky Rock Cottage came to an end. If you're looking for peace and serenity in a cottage that was lovingly built by your hosts, then look no further than Cranky Rock Cottage. To be honest, I'm not sure about the "Cranky Rock" part of the name. The rock in question is, without doubt, a dominant feature of the cottage. Like the hosts, (Lindsay in particular), the cottage is warm and inviting and the rock struck me in much more positive terms than its name implies. The cottage is located in the Hunter Valley and is close to all of the attractions that the Hunter Valley enjoys. I don't wish to give too much away because it is the little surprises at which greet you at Cranky Rock Cottage which are perhaps the most special features. The farm animals and wildlife are something you just cannot get at most other places. If you are looking for a secluded and romantic getaway, Cranky Rock Cottage ranks very highly in my book. Your hosts are not only warm and welcoming but are a most interesting couple. If you overlooked to engage them in a quiet chat, then you will miss out on what I found to be another of the pleasant attractions of the property. Lindsay and Pam are inviting and helpful when you need them to be, and discreet and unobtrusive when you need that too. To say that I really enjoyed my visit to Cranky Rock Cottage doesn't do justice to the good time I had. My only regret in writing this review, which is justifiably glowing of the cottage and your hosts, is that I'm worried that they might become so popular that it will be booked out when I seek to return once more. Five stars for this property? Most definitely!

    Anthony2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This Cottage is way better than we had anticipated with the addition of the hot outdoor spa under the stars & stunning rock with the huge fire place is such a romantic stay! Lindsey and Pam are the loveliest hosts who are near by for a chat and any assistance - every detail of the Cottage is amazing I can't wait to stay again.

    Heather2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lindsay and Pam were absolutely wonderful hosts! They are very kind, hospitable and generous people. We two days at Cranky Rock Cottage and had an amazing time. The location is very beautiful and they encouraged us to feed the native birds and provided the bird seed - feeding them was an incredible experience. We loved the fresh farm complimentary eggs and we were even given a bottle of complimentary wine as it was my birthday! The natural timber and rustic charm did not take away from how luxurious the Cottage is. We stayed on some very hot summer days and were extremely appreciative of how cool the Cottage was and how comfortable we were in the heat. Having a spa under the stars was also very awesome. We will be recommending their place to everyone I know - there aren't many places like it! Thanks so much again guys! :)

  • We rented Gypsy Willows in order to celebrate a family birthday . The house is beautifully laid out with attention to detail that makes you feel like you are in a private resort . The outlook in the morning is picture perfect , rolling mist drifts across the fields as you enjoy a morning coffee in the cosy cottage . We had a lovely long weekend here and Jim made us feel very welcome . Can’t wait to return .

  • My husband and I were after a weekend away from the hustle of Sydney, and the property not only delivered but exceeded our expectations! From the roaring fire on arrival to the homely house with its modern appliances, luxurious beds and gorgeous bathrooms all made for such a lovely stay. Jim and Jo were also generous in providing breakfast provisions and bubbles which added that extra touch to a memorable weekend. We'll defintely be back again for more!

  • We had a great stay at this beautiful home! We loved the open fireplace, the central heating, the extremely comfortable bed, and the lovely views! We had visits from very friendly kangaroos and native birds, and staying a full week allowed us to really rest and recuperate from such a hectic start of the year! Jim and Jo were so helpful with their communication and we were so appreciative of the champagne and breakfast provisions left for us as we arrived quite late at night. We would love to come back!

    Bronwyn2016-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • The house was almost brand new and as great as it looks in the photos. The views and the peacefulness of the place were even greater than expected! We loved the wildlife activity, lots of wallabies and a wombat! The location was really good - far enough from the busiest part of valley for privacy and quietness but close enough if wanting to drive to any of the nearby restaurants etc. We loved Jim's and Joe's place and will definitely come back!

    Anu2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • This Wollombi house was fantastic! We were two couple with a toddler each and the house was perfect for a weekend away from busy Sydney. Lots of space (you could easily have another couple stay, with 3 en-suite bedrooms and no sharing of bathroom!). The house was modern, super clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The kitchen is really well equipped, we cooked both nights we stayed and had everything (and more!) that we needed. The fireplace is a real treat and the house house was nice and warm during the chilli evenings which was perfect with a nice glass of red! The bubbles and breakfast provisions left for us were a lovely touch too. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.

He was very accommodating of our early check-in time, and introduced us to his friendly chickens, cows, and dogs on arrival. The room was clean, comfortable, and within walking distance to town. The best wineries are only a short drive away and the scenery is beautiful. We'd definitely stay here again!

  • The perfect place to enjoy a quiet little holiday in a stylish loft with beautiful surroundings, with an added bonus of friendly cows that wander and graze around the property. Grazier's Retreat has more than just your basic amenities (sans mobile reception, but that can be considered a good thing). I would definitely recommend having your own personal car to drive around as the loft is a fair distance from major towns like Cessnock, and you'll be free to explore all the goodies in Hunter Valley region without relying on other transport options. All in all, a great place to relax and unwind :)

    Christine2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Grazier's Retreat is a perfect place to escape from the world and relax in the peace and quiet of the stunning Hunter Valley. The accommodation is cozy and welcoming, and the fire on a cold winters night with a good book and a glass of Hunter red is amazing. We loved waking up in the morning and looking out across the dam, finding some friendly cows or even kangaroos. It is a short drive to all the wineries and food the Hunter region has to offer, and it is a little off the tourist trail to experience the area outside of the main vineyards. Rhyllis and Pete were so lovely and accommodating and we would recommend their place to anyone.

    Hugh2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet location, close to Hunter Valley centre also. Everyday you hear birds and cows etc, all natural sounds. The house is beautiful, outside and inside. I like the decration, all the things are little touch. You feel relax and comfortable. Rhyllis and his husband are super host, are very friendly and helped us everything, easy to communicate. Thanks again!

    Xuehui2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We booked last minute on a Thursday night for the following day, but this was no trouble for Rhyllis who confirmed quickly and provided detailed and helpful instructions on how to find the Retreat and what to bring. The Retreat exceeded our expectations, with the high grade finishes, generous inclusions (best coffee at home!) and a magical setting. The king size bed was super comfortable, kitchen well-equipped (we ate in both nights) and the living space was comfortable with a fabulous view over the property. We will definitely be booking here again and if you are looking for a luxurious quiet getaway, close enough to the vineyards to get some great wine (head to Mount View, Tallavera Grove wines) but not in the busy tourist hub then this is a highly recommend spot.

    Gemma2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Absolute treat!

    Jasmine2017-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Graziers Retreat for a weekend. The actual house itself was immaculate- high quality furnishings, beautiful decor, and the bed was very comfortable. The property was stunning as well. Very picturesque. We used the fire pit by the water on our last night and it was great. We did go wine-tasting in Polkobin and caught taxis - it's quite expensive to do this so if your main goal is wine-tasting make sure you organise pick-up transfers or stay closer. Rhyl was also a great host and made sure we had all that we needed to find the property etc. All-in-all I couldn't recommend Graziers Retreat more!!

    Caitlan2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Rhyllis's country loft stay was ideal. From the waterfall shower, indoor fireplace, a calf being born on the day we arrived and country kitchen, we couldn't ask for a better place for a girls weekend away. We visited the local wineries, collected produce from neighbouring towns and then created a picnic in front of the TV at night watching some great 90's chick-flicks. In the mornings we went for walks on the property and the surrounding bush walks, followed by breakfast on the balcony. I would highly recommend and plan on being back next winter.

    Steph2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Like other reviewers have mentioned - the photos don’t do this place justice. You can tell everything from the finishings to the furniture are of a very high standard. Also, stunning views. This is the perfect, secluded escape. Rhyllis is also a thoughtful host, and offered tips for our stay and the trip from Sydney, which we really appreciated. My only advice relative to planning is make sure you organise your transfers in advance, or have a designated driver. It’s only 20 mins to the vineyards, but you’re covering a big distance so not ideal for cab fares. I highly recommend this Airbnb and host!

The House at Pemmenunna is your escape from it all! Only 2 hours from Sydney, our ridge-line (2 bedroom, 1.5 bath) house is solar powered on 91 acres of bush. With all home comforts, come with friends and explore wineries, Wollombi, and wombats.
Nestled between Laguna and Wollombi (both 10 minutes away) and 2 hours away from Sydney, the House at Pemmenunna is your escape from it all. Set on a ridge with views overlooking the Watagan Creek and Milsons Arm valleys, the house is solar powered (generator backup) with gas stove and refrigerator, slow combustion oven for chilly nights, luxury linens and towels. Fully equipped kitchen to cook your favourite roasts, Weber BBQ for summer nights, and breakfast on the verandah shaded from the sun overhead. There is a stereo to plug in your iPod, listen to CDs, a wide variety of books, magazines and games to while away the day and night, and 91 acres for bushwalking. No pets please. There is a wide variety of animal life around including kangaroos, wombats, goannas, and many types of birds who like to visit the dam for a drink. There is 6kms of dirt road to the house. The track to the house is regularly graded and and is passable by car albeit slowly. We recommend a AWD or 4WD vehicle.
We love the solitude of the valley. In the mornings, the bird calls are beautiful and koalas have also been recorded calling out. In the evening, the stars are very bright and the living room cosy after picking up a few bottles of red (or white) from the local wineries.
  • We thoroughly enjoyed being totally off grid at Pemenunna. We decided to play no music and completely embrace the song of the bush. Morning and evening walks saw us spotting Roos and yellow tailed back cockatoos. The kitchen was wonderfully well equipped and we cooked every evening meal on the BBQ on the deck whilst watching the sunset. The use of recycled doors and glass made the house feel special, memorable and added to our stay. I would agree with a previous traveller in that a small SUV really is a necessity for the driveway as my Golf Station Wagon struggled and once we were there, we didn't go back out. Also there were an awful lot of flies on our walks so we found it useful to not only spray ourselves with insect repellant, but also our hats. It's a great house for a romantic getaway like we had or for 4 people if you feel like being more sociable. We are already looking forward to another stay in Wollombi!

  • My girlfriend and I had a lovely time at Sarah's bush retreat. It was so peaceful and private, and very beautiful. Fireplace was lovely, bush walks around the property give you in views of the valley and wildlife. Sarah was always quick to reply to our messages and questions, and she made the process of arriving simple and smooth. I'd absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet little getaway with their partner, or even for a group of friends hoping to try some wine in the Hunter Valley (2 hot tips: make sure you have a car to get around, and definitely visit the smaller wineries in Wollombi - the wines are great, and you'll get a charming personalised visit!)

  • We had a wonderfully peaceful stay at Pemmenunna. The locations is secluded and peaceful with lots of bush to explore. The house is beautiful, spacious and well equipped with everything you need for a bush getaway. It's about 10 minutes from Wollombi if you need venture out to a cafe or wine tasting. Sarah gave prompt responses to communications and excellent instructions on getting to the place and running the off grid fridge, power and hot water. We are looking forward to heading back soon.

  • This place is unique and very special

  • We had a great time in Wollumbi, the house had everything we needed for my husband, baby and I. We were concerned about water running out and keeping warm on the winter nights but everything was fine. We managed to keep the fire running every night. A 4x4 is a very good idea, we were very pleased about having one and wouldn't fancy the drive up without, just remember to take everything you need as it's a long way for a pint of milk. The bird life was amazing, one morning we were woken to the call of a wedge tailed eagle and then had huge parrots outside the kitchen window watching us have breakfast. Sarah was a great host, she sent detailed instructions and we emailed frequently before departing. She called on arrival to make sure we were confident with all the instructions. We texted her a few times with questions over the weekend to which she replied and solved our problems instantly. A great place to escape to without being too remote! (Everyone should have a chandelier in the bathroom!)

  • Great location for an away from it all feel!

    Victoria2015-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our communication with Sarah was faultless and friendly. Whilst we didn't end up staying on the weekend we'd booked, this was all dealt with with a minimum of fuss and flexibility. Sarah's a charming host.

  • We were blown away by how beautiful the property was and how well equipped it was for our stay, it immediately felt like home. Careful instructions meant we knew exactly how to find the property and what we needed to do when leaving.

  • A wonderful place to stay. So tastefully done.Kids loved the garden, the swing, the sandpit and especially the fire pit. They loved roasting the marshmallows kindly left in the welcome pack, and we enjoyed the welcome pack wine whilst gazing at the stars! Would definitely recommend. Although a second toilet for the love shack would've made it perfect.

  • We loved the place and it was exactly as described. A perfect weekend getaway. We have three kids and they loved it. It would be equally great for a romantic getaway as well. Not a care in the world out there but still close enough to everything if needed.

  • Our trip to Wollombi was amazing! It really was the perfect get away to escape the city to take in the boutique wineries, kangeroos, wild horse and beautiful bush walks. Our absolute highlight however was our home away from home, we would return to stay in a heart beat (and definitely will be may I add). Our host Antonina was great and very helpful, providing everything we needed to make our stay truely special! Pete

  • A great place if you’re looking for some rest and privacy. Great verandah for relaxing with a paper. Lots of Kangaroos! Property is set a couple of kms off road. Be careful on the unsealed road - we got a flat tyre on our way to a wedding. Only given acces to 2 of 4 rooms. Confirm sleeping arrangements on booking.

  • Donnas place was great- its attached to another house though so just keep that in mind- its not a completely separate accommodation. However very spacious and warming.

  • Donna's place was absolutely lovely! We had such a wonderful stay. The home is very charming, and Donna went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The home was immaculately clean, very comfortable, and she left food and wine in the fridge for us. I highly recommend Donna's place! :)

  • Really enjoyed staying at this venue. Great area to get away from it all. Loved the place.

    Martin2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Location wise, The Hunter Valley is big and therefore you will need to drive a fair distance from once place to another. Donna and Taylor’s is located within 30 minutes of anywhere you would want to go to in the Hunter Valley. What we absolutely loved about Donna and Taylor’s, is the fact that the pictures taken do not give the accommodation justice at all. We were expecting a small room with bathroom attached... that is not the case here. You have access to a full sized living room, a large fully decked out kitchen, a comfortable bedroom with amazing queen sized bed and an absolutely massive bathroom. The kitchen comes equipped with everything you need to cook anything you want from baking a cake to making a pasta marinara. They also stock the pantry with all the essentials like condiments, sugar and salt. They also stock the fridge with milk, butter, eggs, jam and bread! The bathroom and toilet has everything you need and extra. Extra toilet paper rolls to shampoo, body wash and conditioner. Everything is immaculately clean and on top of all this, they give you a complimentary bottle of red wine. Donna and Taylor’s is now our “go to” for any time we decide to go back to The Hunter Valley. We had an amazing stay here. One thing you should be mindful of, is the fact that you will he sharing the building with residents. They live on the floor above but are extremely quiet and on our two night stay, we never even met or saw them once.

  • Beautiful little place to stay, very homely but clean apartment with great facilities. Lots of communication about things to do in the area. Although the flat is a a bit inconvenient with taxis, on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps it doesn't look very far from Cessnock but apparently taxi companies don't really go there unless quiet night. However we were aware we are bit far out when we booked so thats on us!

  • I loved everything about Donna and Taylor's place! We had a Christmas retreat and it felt like home.

  • We enjoyed our stay in this wonderfully quiet and picturesque home. Very clean. Friendly hosts.

  • This is an airbnb not to be missed. Everything about Jane and Simon's place is outstanding! The house is beautiful and the location amazing We sat on the terrace, eating bacon and eggs cooked on the BBQ by Simon, watching kangaroos jumping through the back garden. The bird song in the garden is fantastic too. Simon and Jane looked after us so well - nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed sharing a bottle of wine and travelling tales. We were there for the Bruce Springsteen concert in the Hunter Valley and the accommodation was really convenient. Shuttle bus went from just up the road. We had our own private area of the house but could also share their kitchen and eating areas. If you are visiting the area it is really convenient for the Hunter Valley and is definitely the best airbnb we've stayed in. We highly recommend.
