  • My stay here was perfect. I stayed one night and two would have been even better! I arrived at 4pm and the amazing hosts drove me to a local onsen for sunset, picked me up and then cooked me a tasty dinner! Couldn’t be more relaxing. The room was just what I needed. Comfy bed, soak tub in the bathroom and the heater worked great! As others said it’s a short walk from the station. If you have extra time soak your feet in the spring before you board your train. Nikko is about 30 minutes away and definitely worth going to see the temples there. Easy escape from Tokyo on the express train. 10/10 recommend

  • Nice & cosy inn in a quiet area. Rooms are tidy, there is a little restaurant within the inn with good food, the staff is nice and discreet. I’d recommend this inn if you stay in the Nikkou area a few days.

  • I've used the guest house three times so far, but I think it was the cleanest of the guest stays I've stayed at. Room was enough to stay with two people. The manager is also very kind. It is a very recommended private stay.

  • The cospa was very good and the restaurant on the first floor was also delicious

    Antoine2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • It is difficult to have a private style at the homestay. Fortunately, the boss will send you to dip in the public hot spring. Panyu can eat on the first floor.

  • the room is tidy and clean. The location is really convenient with only hundreds meters from the metro station! Btw, the service is nice and warm.

  • Great place to stay in Nikko. Restaurants are a bit further away. There are a few around the area but most close very early. The room was very big with a nice area for eating/drinking. Staffs were very friendly and an affordable price. They have a shuttle bus to/from Kinugawa-onsen which was very helpful.

  • The best place I stayed in Japan The service was also great and the best thing was to pick you up to the station. We even delivered you to the station when you get there. I recommend you a shop if you are a member of the household who recommended me, but it was the most delicious and cheapest place I went to while I was in Japan! Most of the places I recommend are clean, and the hotel is clean and kind.

  • Midori was a very kind and gracious host. She gave me a ride from the station to her place and recommended things to do in Nikko. Her house is lovely and warm and in a great location. The local restaurants are a few minutes walk away and some of the best Japanese food I have tasted (family run restaurants). Will be back for sure!!

  • Friends and I did a two-day (one night) trip to Nikko from Tokyo, and we were very fortunate to be able to stay at Hikaru's place. Awesome location (about 4 min walk from the Kinugawaonsen subway station); Airbnb was very neat and clean, and overall a fantastic and affordable experience!

  • This was a great place to stay, with easy access to Nikko’s main attractions. The supermarket is about a 20-30min walk away but there is a 7-11 not too far. It would be a really great place to stay if you had a rental car, as the surrounding area also looked really beautiful. The house itself is fairly spacious and comfortable; and the shower is really nice. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics and there are English instructions for all amenities if you aren’t so confident with your Japanese.

There is much to do and explore in the area while the station also allows you access to other great nearby attractions. Big private parking lot is good. Close to 1 sight-seeing spot(the bridge). A supermarket in 3 mins by car/ 10 mins on foot. 7-11 in 5 mins by car/ 15 mins on foot.

  • The store closed early but there was a supermarket nearby and there was no trouble shopping. It was safe to go by car even if it was snowing with the best garage. The open-air bath was spacious and the outside electric barbecue stove was very clean. I want to use it regularly in the future.

  • I used airbnb for the first time, but it was a beautiful hotel as shown in the picture. This content is wonderful at 30,000 yen for two families. The half-open-air bath and the comfort of the futon were good. Caring for heating all rooms before check-in. it's recommended.

  • Excellent service and great location! Murata-san was a great host. Picked us up from the train station and allowed us to check in 3 hours early. Recommended several hiking trails, restaurants, and onsen. I’d highly recommend this place. Great location and value for the Kinugawa Onsen area.

  • We stayed alone, but were able to spend spaciously in room of double bed. There were only two convenience stores in the tourist area, but it was very helpful because it was near this inn. There is no hot spring at this inn, but you can get a coupon, so you can use a hot spring within walking distance at half price.

    与夢2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • There are two single beds between the ocean and a Japanese-style room in the back of the room. It was along the road, and if you looked at the exterior photo in advance, you couldn't get lost because it was immediately obvious. The staff was also nice. The air conditioning in the corridor wasn't working, so it was hot when using the Pandry, but it was 11am check out so it was nice to spend the morning. Breakfast was also cheap at 500 yen and was saved.

  • The landlord team was super good. When I went out to play on the first day, I encountered heavy rain. I also drove us back to the hotel. The day I checked out, I made an appointment with the landlord in advance, and there was also a pick-up service~ a particularly comfortable accommodation experience. Thank you!

    Qintian2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • There is a distance from the station, the boss provides pick-up service, very punctual. It is close to Kinugawa Tourist Hotel, you can go to the sightseeing hotel hot springs, and use the coupons provided by the hotel for only 500 yen. The room is quite big, old but clean, and it is good to have such a price during the three-day break in the summer.

Ieyasu is enshrined at Toshogu as the deity Tosho Daigongen, "Great Deity of the East Shining Light". Initially a relatively simple mausoleum, Toshogu was enlarged into the spectacular complex seen today by Ieyasu's grandson Iemitsu during the first half of the 1600s. The lavishly decorated shrine complex consists of more than a dozen buildings set in a beautiful forest. Countless wood carvings and large amounts of gold leaf were used to decorate the buildings in a way not seen elsewhere in Japan, where simplicity has been traditionally stressed in shrine architecture. Visitors may note that Toshogu contains both Shinto and Buddhist elements. It was common for places of worship to contain elements of both religions until the Meiji Period when Shinto was deliberately separated from Buddhism. Across the country, Buddhist elements were removed from shrines and vice versa, but at Toshogu the two religions were so intermingled that the separation was not carried out completely.

  • A fantastic stay for the price. Right next to Tobu World Square, which you can see peeking over the fence. The area is very scenic, but a bit remote. Just be aware that trains in this area run infrequently, and late at night don't run to the World Square station, so plan accordingly. As long as you know your train situation, great stay!

  • It was very close to Tobu World Square Station, and access to hot springs and sightseeing spots was outstanding. It was raining all the time during our stay, but we were able to spend it comfortably in the room. Great access from the major tourism spots and hot springs. Though it was raining our whole stay, the room was very comfortable and we had an enjoyable time.

  • Everything was great it was a bit farther away than I thought but near the train station so it was good. Not much to eat around there at night but I did find a great little restaurant. Also went to an awesome Onsen nearby. The best surprise was going to the Tobu world fair park it was quite amazing and just down the street. Thank you

  • Good place! Ideal for backpackers or small groups, the free bike rental is great since there are some scenic areas to bike to. Nice restaurants near the apartment as well. Location is a little far from Nikko, and train times are not as reliable in this area, from my experience.

  • It's a great stay - enjoy the bikes and quietness of village.

    Noam2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful home with a beautiful view, it was November when we visited so be prepared for very cold nights.. the bikes were an awesome plus and made it easy to get to the ramen restaurant, Kinugawa-onsen and the Onsen close to the home.. and super market, super close to the train station and the host was helpful and quick! Loved it and would stay again.

  • The room is clean and convenient

  • For a couple with two children the place is great! Mattresses were thick and comfortable, you have a wahing machine right outside apartment door. Only thing, i wouldn't recommend this place the place if you don't have a car. If you do than its great. The supermarket recommended by Maru is a great one, around 19:00 you can find most prepared food for half price. Drive to nikko was no problem and if you get to nikko around 9 am you can find free parking around the river

    Zafrir2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • I used it by car this time, but I think it is close to the station on the Tobu Line. There is also a supermarket, which is convenient for shopping.

It takes about 40 minutes to complete on average, and cold drinks are awarded to those that finish in less than 20 minutes. There are no bathrooms or vending machines once inside the maze. (4) The Kinugawa Line Kudari River Cruise ( 23 mins by walk and train) is a ride down Kinugawa River in flat bottomed, wooden boats. The cruises lasts about 40 minutes and travel through mostly undeveloped stretches of the river, passing rock formations along the way that resemble various animals and objects. Humorous explanations are provided by the boatmen in Japanese. Shoes are removed on board of the boats. HOURS 9:00 to 15:45 (departures every 35 minutes, reception ends 10 minutes before departure) / CLOSED Mid November to mid April FEES 2700 yen (reservations recommended, includes shuttle bus to Kinugawa Onsen Station) 【UNESCO World Heritage】 Toshogu Shrine (東照宮, Tōshōgū)(1hour by train) is the final resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate that ruled Japan for over 250 years until 1868.
Kinugawa Onsen (鬼怒川温泉) is a popular hot spring resort town along the Kinugawa River in Tochigi Prefecture. =Nikko / Kinugawa= With over 1,200 years of rich history Nikko is widely regarded as one of Japan's most sacred places. In addition to the Toshogu Shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate, the Rinnoji Temple and Futarasan Shrine were selected as UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1999. Other picturesque locations such as Chuzenji Lake, Kegon Falls, and Mt. Nantai draw visitors year after year. Looking down from the summit of Mt. Maruyama, the Kinu River Valley is a moving view no matter the season of your visit. Easily accessible by the Nikko and Kinugawa limited express direct trains from Shinjuku, this area makes for a conveniently located vacation spot. =Kinugawa-Onsen= Kinugawa Onsen (Hot Springs) is easily accessible from Tokyo, and is one of the finest hot spring areas in Kanto. Beginning just outside the train station and along the roads, many hotels and ryokan (inns) are conveniently located to provide lodging to visitors. From the surrounding mountains, the view down onto Kinugawa (Kinu River) is outstanding whatever the season. For an experience to enjoy all of the beauty of the Kinu River to your heart's content, try a boat trip down the river. Access: Take the Kinugawa to Kinugawa-onsen Station.
  • Maru's place was very convenient to get to from Tobu World Square Station. 10-15, min walk to a huge grocery store and Edo wonderland was an easy walk that took us roughly 30 mins. There's heaps of racks to dry and hang your clothes. Maru was quick to respond and gave good tips of places to go around the area. Overall we enjoyed our stay! Would stay there again

  • Thank you so much Maru! We enjoyed our stay in your beautiful apt in Asuka Heights. We enjoyed riding the bikes to the awesome Lion D’or grocery store 4 minutes away. The Tobu World Square train station from Asakusa Station on the Spacia train was very easy. Our first night we went to the Tobu World Square which was the more amazing thing, then to Edo Wonderland, and so many more places using the train station and bus stop right outside of your apartment (4 min walk). Thank you so much!!!

  • The location is very good! It's near the train station. The price is very cheap and the price is very clean! There is heating and cooling air conditioner of Hitachi! The bed was clean! The first floor is a restaurant opened by the boss. The food is delicious and the price is equally cheap. What's more important is that the boss lived in Taiwan when he was young! !! !! Can speak some Chinese (≧ ∇ ≦) b can communicate with the boss in Chinese throughout the process, great!

  • What a very pleasant experience! The rooms are small but very comfortable, equipped with reversible air conditioning and very cozy duvets! Special mention for the meals served at the restaurant on the ground floor. We stayed 3 days, we ate every night at the restaurant. Simply EXCELLENT. Our hosts do not speak English but we could communicate perfectly. They are extremely kind and we would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

  • The Nikko area is beautiful, we knew it, but we did not expect to find such nice and warm hosts, so yes, the bathroom is a bit dated and small but clean, and the hosts do not speak a word of English (but today is not connected to the internet, we used Google Translate and this allowed us to communicate). Another thing, the restaurant and the dishes that it offers are absolutely beautiful, the best of our trip to Japan for 2 weeks (we have tested many dishes in different cities) the Tuna set bowl is the best Japanese dish that I have could taste !!!! For sure if I come back to Japan and in this region I will go home, kindness is better than anything !! Thanks again to them for everything!

  • This is a warm family hotel, and Mr. Dazhu's warm and thoughtful service has greatly eased our little anxiety in different places. The hotel is about five minutes walk from Kinugawa Onsen Station. Downstairs is their restaurant. The food in the restaurant must be tasted. It tastes super good. It is the best dish we have eaten during Kinugawa, but the price is invincible. low. The room is not big, but there is a separate washroom. What impressed me the most was the enthusiasm and thoughtfulness of the Dazhu family. Mr. Dazhu’s mother is a Taiwanese. It is completely accessible to us. Mr. Dazhu’s Mandarin is also good. It provides us with a lot of information about the surrounding activities. Mrs. Dazhu’s wife. Although my son can only speak Japanese, but still very hard to provide us with all kinds of help, this is the most intimate family hotel I have ever stayed in, thank you Mr. Dazhu!

  • Highly recommended for backpackers and people who wants to stay for the night for the public onsens. This is one of the fanciest place in the area plus it’s clean and new. The host was very kind to us and they let us try the famous yuba of Nikko for free. The restaurant downstairs offers delicious local food in great portions. The place was clean, new, and it has smoke detectors so don’t worry. It is quiet and peaceful at night and just a few steps away from the train station. They greeted us with warm smiles and superb hospitality. Please support local businesses in the area it means a lot to them! See you again soon! Thank your for your kindness!

Other picturesque locations such as Chuzenji Lake, Kegon Falls, and Mt. Nantai draw visitors year after year. Looking down from the summit of Mt. Maruyama, the Kinu River Valley is a moving view no matter the season of your visit. From the surrounding mountains, the view down onto Kinugawa (Kinu River) is outstanding whatever the season. • Bit far away from popular attractions and shrines, but close to an amazing onsen in a nice and quiet area. Also a very short walk to the Tobu world square.

  • Apartment in a true Japanese neighborhood, spacious, clean and with all the comforts. It can become very dark at night and in winter the sun sets at 17, but it is very safe to be, and it is very easy to arrive from the station. Keep in mind that there are trains all day, but with more spaced schedules than in other stations. The nearest combini is 20 minutes walk, buy food before arriving at the station.

  • The apartment was easy to find. It's located on the third floor. A supermarket within walking distance. For travellers, check out the train timings as they do not come very often. Overall a good stay!

  • This place is well located near the onsen spas and the Edu Wonderland. It’s a perfect location to disconnect from a big city and spend some time relaxing. We were 4 and commuted from there to the Nikko attractions.

  • It was a good trip .Maruさん is a very nice person 。

  • Maru’s apartment was clean and well supplied with an extra heater and towels as well as disposable toothbrushes for every guest. The location was very conveniently located with walking distance to Tobu World Square and a short drive to Edo Wonderland. The famous shrines and bridges of Nikko were about a twenty minute drive from the apartment. Maru was very responsive to all inquiries and made recommendations for local establishments.

    Melissa2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Maru’s place is amazing! Just nice for 4 people. Check-in was a breeze and instructions from Maru were clear. Parking is just a mere 5 mins walk away. The apartment is just next to Tobu World Square (must go!!! Worth every penny) and you can even see the structures from the corridor.

  • You have to plan first before you go, the place is near Tobu World Square station but if you are a night person, the last train is around 8 p.m, after that you might take a walk around 15 mins from another station (i.e. Kosagoe station). But overall, it is a nice place.

  • Located along a mountain stream on the Kinu River, the room is a superb view. The rooms are large and very good. It was a quiet period of Kinugawa, and it was about too quiet. It was a little inconvenient that we could not eat at Fukumatsu-san, but there seems to be a nearby restaurant.

  • We had a lovely stay at Maru’s place. It’s about a 30-minute train ride away from central Nikko, but we didn’t mind. There’s also a kotatsu (Japanese heated table) that we had a great time taking advantage of!

  • The place was very clean, spacious and had everything we needed! Maru also was a very helpful host even when we had last minute changes to our plan. It's not too far from nikko and nearby the station

  • Maru's place was easy to get to, clean and comfortable and wonderful quiet place to hide after a few days in Tokyo. Their recommendations were great. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • We used the bikes as often as we could. Even a child seat was available. The best tip was to go to the private onsen. Overall we spent some relaxing days exploring Nikko.

  • I used it for 2 days and 2 nights on a Bon holiday with 2 adults and 2 children (1 and 0 years old) for sightseeing purposes. Since there are children, I can not eat out, so I buy what I need at a nearby supermarket and relax in the room at night. I am satisfied with the surrounding sightseeing spots. It is perfect for sightseeing purposes because it is arranged without inconvenience. Thanks to the quick response to the inquiries made in advance.

  • We had a good stay at maru's, the placr is clean and exactly like in picture, we were 3 people and it didnt feel crowded. If staying there you have access to free bike rental. The place is 30-40mn ride by train to central nikko and 30mn by walk from edoland (even less by bike). Overall i recommend staying here we got to gully enjoy nikko!

  • Lovely, cosy little place. The bicycles are a great touch, as going on foot to anything nearby would be a bit of a trek.
