  • Susan was a wonderful host. Her house is clean and the room is spacious with a comfy bed. You will wake up to a wonderful breakfast and you won't go away hungry. I would defiantly stay again while in the area. Also, thank you for dinner on the first night, it was appreciated =)

  • Susan was very considerate, and just a delight to speak with on the phone. She took great care in making me feel comfortable with choosing her home, answered all my questions, and made sure I had adequate directions to reach her. She greeted us with her cute dog Dillan at the end of her property...and made us feel like family from the get-go.

  • The accommodations were fantastic! Susan was fantastic! We're wishing we're going back this weekend :)

    Ashley2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Susan's place was perfection. The room was immaculate and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. She puts in a lot of attention to detail and it really felt like a special B&B. My husband and I needed a place to stay while visiting family, and instead of being a place to crash, it ended up feeling like a vacation. It was more than I expected. Communication was so easy. On the drive up there were a few items I needed and I asked Susan if she had them to use, and she made sure to leave them out for us. Those little things really make a difference. Breakfast was delicious and we sat at a table that looked out onto the field of wildflowers that Susan gardens and cares for daily. We had great conversation and Susan has a laugh that is contagious. She is a sweet woman who made us feel right at home. Make sure you take a walk around the property and really admire the flowers. They are truly something special. I could go on and on, but you will see for yourself if you stay here....

  • We stayed one night with Susan and it was wonderful. In advance we informed about the use of the kitchen and she offered to prepare us a diner, it was delicious. Susan is a very nice and cooperative hostess and told us a lot about the history of the house and surrounding.

  • Susan's house is beautiful and comfortable and she is a perfect, gracious host. My wife and I stayed at Susan's because we attended a wedding in the area. Susan was extremely welcoming, the large room was a beautiful place to stay (with a very comfortable bed), and Susan cooked us a delicious breakfast in the morning. I recommend Susan's place highly!

    Sean2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Susan is a great host. She greeted us with a big smile and warm hospitality. The space is as described. Bedding is very comfortable and cozy.We slept really well. If you want to find out what it is like living in hudson valley, this is a good place!

    ANISHA2016-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Susan met us at the end of her driveway! What a wonderful greeting!! Her home, yard and the guests space is everything and more in her description. She is very respectful of privacy and in fact you technically have the living room and kitchen plus the upstairs. She willingly shared her kitchen with us. Susan is the consummate hostess- maps, directions, books, recommendations, etc. We were there a week and could have stayed for another week just to see and do all the area has to offer. The bed is heavenly soft and comfy. Don't pass up your chance to be pampered, well fed and educated on the area.

  • This is a terrific place to stay! It is roomy and comfortable and Debra was a terrific host. She welcomed us (with some very nice fruit, cheese and wine!) gave a quick tour and then went on her way--she left helpful notes in the event we needed anything at all. The place was very clean, bathrooms were up to date, nice fixtures, towels, soaps, etc. It has a beautiful outdoor covered patio area where you can just sit and relax--we saw hummingbirds and deer during our stay (also rabbits)--it was very pleasant! Our host left wood for making a small fire which we did, to make s'mores--very fun. We slept 5 very comfortably. Food places are accessible--some within walking distance for buying basics plus takeout in the next town over, diners nearby, etc. We were in town for Tanglewood which is about 40 mins away (but worth the trip). We highly recommend Debra and the O. K. Hideaway for your stay!

    Deborah2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The home is set in a lovely town that was easily accessible from Albany. It was spotless, comfortable and and is delightfuly decorated. Debra was there to greet us when we arrived and gave us an informative tour that answered all our questions. Debra provided far more amenities than the average homes we have rented (we have rented about 15 times thruout the country). She even told us where the best neighborhood was to take our grandchildren trick or treating! The photo with the lights is the wonderful back porch. We all enjoyed sitting out there--Not being close to a city, we enjoyed how many and how bright the stars were. I highly recommend Debra’s property and we hope to return someday!

    Margaret2017-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Debra's Kinderhook home was the perfect destination for our group of friends to get together for a NYE weekend. Debra greeted us with some wine and cheese and gave us a quick tour of the house which was helpful. We spent most of our time at the house, making meals in the well-equipped kitchen, enjoying drinks and playing games by the fireplace, but it was also within 30 minutes of Hudson which we explored one afternoon and other local destinations (we went to and highly recommend both Suarez Family Brewery and Tousey Winery!) We also had a fantastic dinner one minute down the road at The Flammerie. As someone else commented, the house is definitely bigger than it appears and I'm sure is even more lovely in the warmer months when you can enjoy the large yard, fire pit, etc. Many thanks to Debra for the perfect weekend getaway with great friends. We can't say enough great things and highly recommend staying here.

    Colleen2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Debra's Kinderhook Hideaway was a perfect getaway for a fall weekend. It was very spacious, and had the perfect sleeping arrangement for 3 couples. We enjoyed the open concept kitchen and living room, which included everything you would need to cook and grill, along with Netflix and games for late nights. We spent each night by the fire pit with many laughs and felt safe and cozy for the duration of the weekend. Debra was a lovely host, and we were able to check in on the early side, and arrived to champagne and a breakfast treat. Debra was quick in her responses, lovely to meet, and the hideaway was extremely charming. Hiking in the area with peak foliage was icing on the cake! We would highly recommend the OK Hideaway for a quant weekend away!

  • The house is roomier than it appears in the pictures. We had everything we needed, including in the kitchen. The decor was lovely and comfortable. We would love to return when next in the area.

Our lovingly maintained carriage house is light & bright, having full kitchen, dining & living areas, with a wood stove. The cozy bedroom and private bathroom add to the space, offering a wonderful farm experience or a simple country life retreat.
Fairland Farm is located on County Route 21, Kinderhook, 20 min. from Hudson, NY and 2.5 hrs from NYC. Fairland Farm produces organic vegetables, and is located in scenic Columbia County - the gem of upstate New York.
Both the Village of Kinderhook and the greater Town of Kinderhook offer a variety of eateries, small shops, and roadside farm stands, as well as the expected, and more familiar, retail establishments such as grocery stores, banks, churches, and car repair shops. However, Kinderhook is a rural community with a multitude of working farms and you should expect, during growing season, to see and smell, all that entails.
  • We LOVED staying at William and Hannah's. I was super comfortable with all the necessary things for a stay - well stocked kitchen, towels - bath and pool, great sheets, Netflix etc, the grounds are INCREDIBLY beautiful, and Hannah and William are super communicative and friendly - they even stocked the fridge with some essentials. I'll mention that to access the carriage house there is a flight of stairs, which was perfectly fine for me and mine- but worth noting for an elder person, or handicapped/ injured individual. We are eager for a second visit the Kinderhook area - and would definitely check availability to stay at Willam's again.

  • This guest cottage won’t disappoint. It is a lovely space with all the comforts of home and an amazing view.

    Laura2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very spacious and very family friendly. Would highly recommend for those looking to spend time in the area, especially if you are just looking for a weekend in a private area but still close to enough things for entertainment or necessities.

    Dennis2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Bill and his wife went above and beyond. Not only were they responsive to any question we had, they thought of everything to make their carriage house feel like a home-fresh flowers, plenty of snacks, milk, juice and muffins ready for breakfast the next day and fresh veggies picked right from their garden. The space was ideal and very manageable with a toddler. The property is stunning and the pool is beautiful. Highly recommend and would definitely go back!

    Kitty2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at William's carriage house was absolutely fantastic. The house itself was immaculate and they furnished the place with fresh flowers, snacks and light groceries. The pool is the point and a great thing to have, although it needs to be skimmed daily. William and his family to make use of the pool but stay out of sight for the most part. He's a great host, extremely attentive and helpful. The property is easy to find and near a huge grocery store, CVS, wine shop, etc. but you feel totally removed. Ultimately, I'd highly recommend it!

  • Very nice apartment in a carriage house on a working farm. The apartment is separate from the main house and is a one flight walk up. Small bedrooms but a good-sized living room with an eat-in kitchen. Friendly host. Beautiful pool and stunning sunsets every night.

  • William and Hannah are amazing hosts! Their property is stunning and well-maintained. This was our favorite rental ever. By far!!!!

  • It was a great little holiday and your place made it perfect! The landscaping, the house style, and much more. Best Airbnb experience so far. I will sure come back in summer time to enjoy the pool!!

Thoughtfully designed two-bedroom apartment located above a former millinery shop built in 1880. Beautiful natural light. Mix of vintage and modern amenities, including two guest bedrooms, full kitchen and bath, high speed wifi, onsite laundry and work desk. Private tree-shaded back porch overlooking Kinderhook Creek and Pachaquack Preserve. 20 minutes to Hudson. 30 minutes to Albany, the Berkshires and the Catskills.
An effortless upstate getaway combining modern convenience and vintage charm. Perfect for two couples, a small group of friends, or a live-work home base in the Historic Hudson Valley. Includes two guest bedrooms—one king, one queen. Full bath. High speed wifi. Apple TV. AC throughout. Calphalon cutlery and cookware. Linens and necessities. Private tree-shaded back porch overlooking Kinderhook Creek and Pachaquack Preserve. Centrally located on Valatie's Main Street with all of the village's amenities within a 2-minute walk—restaurants, antique shops, bookstore, pilates studio, wine shop, library. Easy access for tubing, fly fishing and swimming in the creek—entering through Pachaquack Preserve. (Please note that we don't provide kayaks, tubes or other outdoor gear, so it's best to bring your own) We're right next door to the Main Street Cafe, one of the best diners in Columbia County. They open at 6, close at 9. We eat there at least 3 times a week. They're like family to us. You can park anywhere on the street, or in the free municipal parking lot directly across from the house. PLEASE NOTE: This is a second floor apartment up a flight of stairs, in case anyone in your party has mobility issues.
Warm and welcoming, Valatie is one of the nation's first self-sustaining industrial villages—now a tightly knit community of small businesses, creative professionals and craftspeople. Pronounced “Va-lay-sha,” a Dutch word meaning “little falls,” Valatie is named for the three beautiful waterfalls that surround it. The tranquil Kinderhook Creek bisects the village and is a favorite swimming hole and tubing destination—as well as a Blue Ribbon trout fishing waterway reminiscent of the shallow, meandering rivers of Montana's big sky country. Prior to the Dutch settling the area in the 17th century, Valatie served as as a spiritual meeting place for the region’s nomadic Mohican tribes whose ancient footpaths are still walkable today along Pachaquack Preserve, a 5-10 minute walk from the house. Proud of it's diverse history, Valatie is central to the Hudson Valley's landmark destinations. The Martin Van Buren National Historic Site, Luycas Van Alen House, Ichabod Crane Schoolhouse and the Benedict Arnold House—along with newly established landmarks like the The School art gallery in Kinderhook—are all within a 10-minute drive. A popular antiques destination, Valatie is located just 20 minutes north of Hudson's thriving restaurant and cultural scene—and just 10 minutes away from Chatham's beautifully redeveloped downtown with a weekend's worth of shops, bookstores, bakeries, breweries and culinary restaurants—not to mention a vintage movie theater, Columbia County's beloved Crandell Theatre. Valatie is the perfect launch point for easy day trips to the Catskills, the Berkshires, Woodstock, Saugerties, Vermont, Lake George, the Adirondacks and Albany's Capitol District (including Troy's bourgeoning creative scene).
  • I had never been to Valatie, NY before ...but now, I will never stop visiting this house! The apartment itself is as the photos show: serene, immaculately clean, and a respite for the senses. The walls are a display of unique and original artwork, and the overall presentation of furniture, color, open space, and greenery is a testament to the masterful professional interior designer that created the peaceful environment. Short steps from the house is a wooded trail that leads to a stony creek — the perfect place to connect with nature. There is an endless amount of art, entertainment, hiking, shopping, and historical venues within a short driving distance. Seth was a rockstar in letting us know exactly what was available. On top of his resourceful itinerary suggestions, he was funny and a pure delight to work with.

    Kristen2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is gorgeous and Seth provided loads of fabulous recommendations for where to eat and shop in the surrounding areas, we couldn't have asked for more! We will definitely come back again!

    Julia2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend! Picture perfect in so many ways!

    Samara2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Super stylish apartment in the Hudson valley. We couldn't have asked for more. Great location, the apartment was clean and fully stocked, and very comfortable. We were only two but four would be no problem. Seth also sent a fabulous message full of area recommendations. Looking forward to our next stay.

    Henri2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Holland House is amazing. The photos don’t do the apartment any justice - it is nothing short of awesome. Clean, comfortable, great light, anything you could need provided by Seth. Seth’s recommendations were stellar and saved us so much time from researching everything ourselves. I would recommend staying here to anyone- it’s the best Airbnb we have ever stayed in. The town is adorable too! The diner next door is the perfect cure for a hangover if you had one too many shots at the Bar & Grill. I will definitely be coming back to stay at the Holland House it is a 5 out of 5 amazing stay. Recommended to all.

    Rachel2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Holland House while visiting family (I am a 40-something female professor). The apartment is gorgeous! It's elegant, well equipped and spotlessly clean. I really enjoyed the back desk with all the trees and was amazed by the land preserve just across Kinderhook Creek, which Seth nicely points out in his description. Seth was tremendously responsive, kind and accommodating. Highly recommended!

    Laura 2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful rental with fantastic design choices. The size, layout, cleanliness, location and ease of check in / check out all made this a perfect weekend rental. Seth is a fantastic host and was very helpful with recommendations. Also, the diner right next door is quite good for breakfast, we went both days of our stay. Highly recommended.

    Michael2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic Airbnb! Super clean, great amenities, charming location, and an amazing host. Before our stay, Seth sent us a giant list of things to eat/do in the area. It was incredibly helpful--we referenced it throughout our entire trip. What's more, we had a tiny problem with the heat but Seth had someone come out to fix it immediately. I have nothing but good things to say about this host. If I am ever back in the area, I will most definitely look out for Seth's listings.

Charming pre-Revolutionary home circa 1770. Restored and furnished by noted New York Designer on a quiet road in the historic district of Kinderhook village.
Kinderhook is a very early village, featuring early dutch and colonial dwellings. its located a block from the village square, with many fine and interesting restaurants in and near the vicinity. Tanglewood, shaker museum, Olana, Van Buren presidential site, Hudson, skiing, hiking and other adventures await.
  • Phillip was welcoming and very hospitable. He left us lots of waters, pastries and coffee for us. The listing was accurate and town of Kinderhook pleasant and nice historical architecture. The house is historic 1770 with a unique and quirky lay out chock full of antique decorations. We would go back again. thanks Phillip.

    Kevin2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Phillip's house is gorgeous and is walking distance to down town Kinderhook. Phillip is absolutely delightful-- he met us at the house with a lovely bottle of wine to welcome us and give a tour to show us the amenities. The rooms were both beautiful and very comfortable. Additionally, if you're an art lover, you will greatly appreciate the work throughout the house.

    Maggie2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about our stay in this lovely home. We would gladly return next fall if it were available. The home and host were gracious and charming. We enjoyed being surrounded by Philip's beautiful furnishings and artwork. Phillip met us at the house to give us instructions, to tell us about the area and to recommend restaurants in the region . He also stocked the refrigerator with provisions for a wonderful breakfast including pastries to our grand daughters' delight, and a lovely bottle of wine for the adults. Kinderhook is an ideal location to explore the Hudson Valley. Our family had fun imagining who may have lived in this historical house and after full days of exploration we loved coming back to this cozy home away from home.

    Jill2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • A really wonderful stay. First off, how often does one get a chance to spend a long weekend in a 1770 home that has been so carefully and creatively decorated? Second: Phillip was an exemplary host. He met our friend (who arrived a few hours earlier than we did), explained everything about the house (which also has a cozy TV room downstairs), and left us with croissants and chocolates. Third: Kinderhook is a beautiful village. The house is a 2-minute walk to the (in-season) Saturday farmers' market; we bought berries, local honey, and farm-fresh eggs and ate breakfast in the charming, surrounded-by-trees back patio. You wouldn't necessarily grasp it from the pictures, but the layout is such so that two couples can stay at once and have quite a bit of privacy. If you want dinner in town, we recommend The Flammerie (also a 2-minute walk). It's also an easy drive to Hudson. And the Wifi worked great. Thanks again, Phillip.

    JARED2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were greeted immediately by Phillip upon arrival. He was warm and welcoming and the house looked absolutely beautiful. He had food in the refrigerator, a tray of croissants on the kitchen counter, toiletries in the bathrooms and all of his exquisite paintings were tastefully illuminated.

    Peter2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolute heaven! I don't hesitate to recommend Phillip's house - we stayed here for July 4th weekend and it was perfect in every way, it made our weekend. Kinderhook is a lovely little village with some fantastic restaurants that Phillip recommended, and not far from Hudson and a ton of walking trails and swimming holes. The house itself is ideal for a city escape/chilled out time away - the house is old (240 years Phillip tells us) and wonderfully charming, and Phillip has done an excellent job renovating and furnishing. It's like staying in a boutique hotel - Phillip's sense of style is amazing - the design and décor are magazine-worthy, while still welcoming and comfortable. He was the quintessential host - answered all our questions promptly, met us upon arrival to show us around, and was incredibly thoughtful - from lighting candles to greet us when we arrived in the evening to leaving chocolates by the beside and toothpaste and brushes in the bathrooms, and delicious breakfast supplies. We stayed in and cooked a couple of nights - the kitchen is great for this and has everything you need, and there's a very cool dining room plus an outdoor seating area out the back. We also loved watching movies in the converted basement downstairs. There are three bathrooms and two main large bedrooms, plus a small single bedroom, all beautifully decked out. We woke up one morning to a copy of the NYT and an amazing fruit pie waiting for us on the doorstep - what an amazing surprise, thank you Phillip! I can't speak highly enough of this beautiful home and host - we are recommending it to everyone we know.

This apartment is located in a bucolic country setting, set back from the road on a 15 acre property. A large yard with a fire pit is available with stunning Catskill Mountain views and sunsets. Great for nature lovers ! It has a separate entrance and is a few minutes away from historic and charming Kinderhook village. It has been furnished by an interior designer largely with vintage furniture and accessories from close by Hudson's antique shops.
The interior is decorated in an eclectic style: combining modern, vintage and antique furniture.
The neighborhood is very rural with a horse farm, dairy farm and Samascott Orchards close by. The Hudson River is a beautiful bike-ride away and walks alongside the River evoke a pre-civilization landscape. For those seeking culture: Seven car minutes away from the farm you can visit the Jack Shainman Gallery in Kinderhook. The friendly village of Kinderhook offers quite a few historic mansions and old farm houses, like Martin van Buren's (8th President of the USA) "Lindenwald", the Van Alen House and the Vanderpoel House. Further away you find Olana, Clairmont and the Thomas Cole house. Historic Hudson is 20 minutes away and offers fine dining, galleries and vintage/antique shopping. Art Omi is in the vicinity as well with many culture and art events. Kinderhook has a new Restaurant for foodies now: "The Flammerie", with a "Biergarten" featuring Bavarian specialties among other things . And there is a lovely wine bar in an old townhouse called "Dyad". During the summer every Saturday morning you find a farmer's market in the main square.
  • Spacious and beautifully decorated apartment. Kitchen well-equipped for cooking. We had a great time and Barbara was very responsive.

  • This private apartment looks just like it is presented in the photographs. The style is soothing and comfortable and the location is so picturesque. My family and I wanted a rural place that allowed us the freedom to be outside and enjoy our time together. Barbara's place did just that. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was well equipped with all the things we needed to cook. We especially loved being able to have a campfire right in the backyard! We really felt like we were on vacation!

  • What an enchanting Columbia County villa to stay for the holidays. Comfortable and luxurious bedrooms, an updated kitchen with many amenities, and a warm ambience to hide away from the plunging temperatures and snow fall outside. Barbara’s Property is only moments from shopping and dining, but worlds away from the hectic pace. Thank you...

A century old brick barn renovated in 2017, is now a quiet, secluded, unique residence. Surrounded by gardens, sheep and ponies, set back off a quiet country road, the house has a converted silo, jungle shower, loft, custom furniture, close to Hudson, Kinderhook, Chatham, bike and hiking trails, walk to a waterfall, canoe and pond on property. Vegetable garden open for visitor use. Easy driving distance to Tanglewood, Bard, Shakespeare, and many other Columbia County and Berkshire treats.
There is a full bed upstairs in the loft (with secure gate for kids) and a queen size, new sofa bed downstairs. The kitchen is new, gas stove. The barn house is on the property of Susanna and Joe Grannis.
Hello and welcome to the barn guesthouse. My family and I (Will) have lived in the hamlet of Stuyvesant Falls since 2004, moving from Brooklyn, and my mother Susanna move here from Vermont in 2015, next door. The barn that is renovated is on the 5 acre property with Susanna’s house and we have 15 acres next door. The pond is on our property, the garden and barn guesthouse are on my mother’s, but basically it’s all connected. We own sheep, chickens and ponies (plus many dogs and a few cats). Please say hello them. We also have bikes, canoes, inner tubes, ice skates, cross country skis and kayaks and pick up truck and all of that can mean a lot of fun, and we’d be happy to loan items out, but we need to plan in advance. Depending on ages and sizes, we may need to rent bikes until we can get more good bikes available for guests, depending on interest. There is a local swimming hole, but again we need to show you where it is, then you can go on your own. Local towns: Hudson is a city of extremes, with lots of investment, and housing projects. The media like to write about it. The occasional rock star, etc., plus tons of local life and cool stuff, as below. The town of Chatham is usual for being normal. Some of the Massachusetts towns are exceedingly fancy, some of the New York towns can be run down, other towns, like Hudson, are unique, but Chatham is just nice, normal, with plenty of great stuff without being too perfect and not expensive without being rundown and shabby. My opinion, of course. Plus, it’s a rural town with lots of city people on summer weekends. Kinderhook/Valatie neighborhood includes a lot of people who commute to Albany every day, changing the culture of the town. Philmont is close to the Waldorf School Hawthorne Valley and while the Rudolf Steiner/Anthroposophical philosophy is not everyone’s cup of tea, that community, centered in and around Philmont, makes the village is something special in America, although the casual visitor might not realize. The world’s most beautiful farm is there (well maybe that’s an exaggeration) but it’s a real working farm and they are pretty busy, Threshold. The roads back behind High Falls are gorgeous. Copake, Hillsdale, etc. etc. Greenport is kind of a strip mall and not a pretty one. Stuyvesant Landing: the cafe restaurant is great with stunning views. Nutten Hook/Ice House is historic and trails and canoeing is good. If you want to jump out of the canoe, I would suggest the Stockport Creek, also very near by. Hudson has an Amtrak station, many antique shops, restaurants, the Hudson Opera House, TSL, Basilica Industria, Club Helsinki, Spotty Dog Books and Bar. I like the cruelty-free diner with excellent local meat, Grazin’ Acres, with the cows from Kinderhook Farm on your way to Chatham, back roads. Swoon and Crimson Sparrow are great for fine dining -- and it gets finer in Hudson, Farmer and Sons and Fish and Game -- or good pizza a Baba Louies (a lot less fine, but still fine). Farmer’s market. Chatham has McCadden theater and PS 21 and a great movie theater (beautiful 1920s restored). The Pub has new owners. The brewery, Chatham beer, is great. Ron’s bike shop it top notch. The town park Crellin has a pond you can swim in and trails next to a creek, in addition to all sports, tennis, skateboard, playgrounds. You should also go to Borden Pond to walk around and Ooms Pond is stunning. Kinderhook. Farmer’s market. The Flammerie is nice as a restaurant. The cafe in the center of town is good with ice cream. Winter: Fire is obviously serious business! The wood stove must be operated with great care, please. Never remove anything from the stove (ashes, wood, etc). We’ll do that. Put only wood and paper in there. Always make sure the doors are securely closed when you go to bed or out of the house. Try the handle out before starting the fire, when it’s cold, wiggle it and see if you can securely close the doors. If you want to have the doors open to look at the fire, put up the screen and keep an eye out for anything falling out of the stove. There is a fire extinguish on the mantle behind the stove. • We had such a wonderful time at the barn over Labor Day weekend. It's a very special place and it is outfitted with everything you would need for a quiet getaway. There's a beautiful waterfall nearby as well as places to go fruit picking. Will was extremely responsive and we would highly recommended staying here if you're in the area.

    Anita2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in Will's rustic barn. The area had so much to offer. We especially enjoyed riding the bikes Will loaned out to us. We'd love to stay again and would recommend this spot to friends and family in a heartbeat!

    Maria2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Super cozy! I was so relaxed enjoying the jungle shower and sipping wine while rocking in front of the wood burning stove! Will was a great host and took time to let our daughter ride the family pony. He recommended great restaurants and attractions nearby. Baba Louie's and Olana were our favorites. There are also some great hikes in the area. I am sure we will be back again!

    Deb2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute spot on a great little farm with sweet hosts. The photos truly don't do the space/property justice--the jungle shower is amazing. Will and his parents are great hosts; available when needed but not intrusive. Swimming and farms nearby, lots of toys available for loan, and the kitchen is stocked with basics. The barn is nicely set back from the road/main house (offering privacy but not seclusion) and surrounded by an array of fun farm animals with a nice outdoor fire/grilling area. Would definitely stay again!

    Tricia2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Will is an excellent host, easy to communicate with and thoughtful. He provided wonderful hiking recommendations upon request. The barn and shower were beautiful! We would stay again for sure :)

    Ashley 2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Will's lovingly renovated barn. Great escape from the city with actual horses for neighbors. Will and Susanna were very kind and responsive hosts; they communicated clearly with us when called upon and otherwise gave us our privacy. Had some amazing ice cream at nearby Samascott's market- I got Maple Bacon, so good. Will lent us some bikes to use and there are some nice flat country roads in the area for cruising, as well as hills for the more experienced. The home is also only a short drive from all the restaurants in Hudson. Thanks for having us!

    Dan2017-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Will's cozy barn is the perfect escape from the busy city life. The location is tucked away & secluded but also close to all of the shops and food spots in nearby Hudson. Will provided us with bikes and lead us to a scenic waterfall close by that only locals know about. Another favorite part was the sound of the crickets at night, very relaxing!

    Hannah2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem! Lots to see nearby on a bike or by car. This family is so kind and generous. Highly recommend this country getaway.

Our home is a close drive from Hudson, Kinderhook or Chatham, NY and a ten minute walk from the Hudson River and a boat launch. Enjoy miles of country roads for walking and biking and our nine acres through meadows and woods on mowed paths. Guests have access to an Adirondack style cottage overlooking a pond. Close to numerous restaurants, galleries, antique shops and cultural activities. This property is good for couples, a group of friends and families (including children).
This private (pet free) guest house includes three bedrooms with private baths on the second floor, with a living room, dining room, full kitchen and half bath with washer/dryer on the first floor. The living room has a gas fired wood stove. The house is surrounded by spacious lawns, meadows and woodlands with mowed paths. A spring fed pond and charming "pond house" with deck for outdoor fires and relaxing is located just behind the house and is available for guest use.
The house, built in the late 1800's, is a short walk to the Hudson River. At the river, a park has a boat launch for kayaks and canoes. The property is close to several dairy and organic farms. The town's quiet nature is ideal for walking or biking the surrounding roads with a park for younger children a short walk down the road. We are approximately 15 minutes to Hudson and Chatham and 5 minutes to Kinderhook. The Berkshires, Catskill (including several ski locations) and Saratoga, NY are all within an hours drive.
  • Debbie and Mike greeted us warmly on arrival. They provided fresh bread, coffee and the fridge was full of supplies. The house was decorated beautifully for the holidays.Such a charming place with the pond house overlooking a frozen pond and wood fire making our trip so special. They provided us with tips on where to go, and called us outside when a Bald Eagle flew overhead. We ended up having breakfast in Kinderhook with them on our last day! Thank you! We will be back very soon.

    Mac2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Debbie and Mike are the most hospitable hosts I've ever encountered. Not only is their property cozy and idyllic (perfect for our group of 6), but they ensured that any and all needs were taken care of and then some. The pond house was a perfect gathering place to dine and unwind and our only regret was that we didn't have more time to enjoy everything the property and area had to offer. Cannot wait to return!

    Adam2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • We (my parents, two teenagers, and myself) had a wonderful stay at Debbie's Pond Side R&R. The house was just the right size for us, beautifully equipped and appointed (very well-equipped kitchen, interesting art and objects, comfortable + handsome furnishings, wonderful linens on beds and in bathrooms, thoughtful breakfast supplies). It's on a lovely rural road, lots of peace and quiet. We were attending a wedding in Kinderhook and it was a quick 5 minute drive or 4 mile walk. Because we were in and out with the wedding events we didn't make as much use of the pond-side deck as we otherwise would have but it's a wonderful spot, esp (in summer) in the early morning and evening. Highly recommended by all. Thanks, Debbie!

    Lucy2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I, together with my daughter and her boyfriend and my brother and his wife, enjoyed a wonderful stay and Pond Side R&R. It's a charming, beautiful place and the hosts were most welcoming. We enjoyed the beauty of the surroundings and had several breakfasts and happy hours out on the pond dock. The kitchen is very well equipped and we prepared many meals over the five days we were there. We live across the country from one another, and this was a perfect spot for us to visit with one another. We enjoyed hiking in the Catskills and visiting Hyde Park and Olana, all within easy driving distance (an hour or less). Hands down, we all enjoyed our stay a great deal!

    Janice2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • This airbnb was the perfect place to use as a base to explore the Hudson Valley. The property is very clean and well equipped and beautifully maintained (the pictures don't do it justice!). It's great for groups of friends. We especially enjoyed using the fire pit! We'll definitely be back!

    Fiona2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely place to stay in the upper Hudson Valley. The house is so cute and stocked with everything you need. The pond and pond house are the perfect respite. Debbie is a wonderful, kind host.

    Amelia2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Enchanting Airbnb. Charmed by the comforting attention to details. Deb anticipated and beautifully delivered a relaxing 2 days for our party of four adults. We explored a couple of nearby towns and also just sat and stared at this gorgeous property from the pond house dock. Generous and tasty breakfast supplies, comfy cozy linens, spotless housekeeping. A+

  • Maret has a lovely home very close to Kinderhook with beautiful property and a pool. She prepared a full breakfast for us and we enjoyed getting to know the other two other guests over Finnish pancakes, sausage and fruit. We were in the small room as we only were booking for one night on a holiday weekend and it is truly small! However the bed was super comfy. Only drawback is that the bathroom is downstairs, which can be tricky if you need to go down there during the night.

  • What a wonderful home and hostess. Thank you to Kayla and her family for their warm welcome to their charming and amazing property. We had a blissful and relaxing week - just what we were seeking! Thank you!!

    Jenessa2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, spacious well-appointed apartment. The gardens were lovely and well cared for. We didn't get to meet Kayla but she was easy to reach by text. She also left us a useful list of things to do in the area, along with directions. Apartment was about 3 miles from a shopping center and various restaurants. We had a relaxing time and would stay there again if in the area.

    Samuel2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kayla's listing is perfect: a beautiful setting and wonderfully comfortable, with all the amenities you could ask for. She had toys for our son, and a pack n play, which made our life so much easier. And we really appreciated the delicious apples and bottle of wine. Thank you for a lovely stay!

    Anna 2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a weekend in February and found the accommodation super clean, comfortable, and roomy for the two of us. It was a real pleasure to stay here. The location is excellent as you are in the peaceful countryside but within easy driving distance of several nice villages which feature high quality food as well as many things to explore. Kinderhook is a lovely village. We did part of the walking tour and toured the Jack Shainman Gallery to see the current exhibition. Kayla had helpfully recommended the latter and told us that Saturday was the only option to go to the gallery. We ate at the very impressive Our Daily Bread in Chatham for both lunches and at the extraordinary Flammerie in Kinderhook for both dinners. (Note that reservations for the Flammerie seem mandatory and that they must be made in advance.)

    Rachael2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived late and on the table waiting for us were a vase of will flowers, recently picked apples and a bottle of wine. The property and apartment were better than the photos. Kayla made us feel very at home and was available if we needed her. She gave us a list of suggested places to visit and places to eat and shop. The area is beautiful with lots to do. I hope we get to stay there again.

    Jackie2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • The place was perfect for a small family and we enjoyed reading the books and playing with the toys Kayla provided. The property also gave us plenty of room to run around. The location is quiet and peaceful, but within range of several towns in the Hudson Valley, Berkshires, and Catskills.

    David2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • I haven't stopped telling everyone I know about how amazing our stay at Kayla's retreat was. The house, the host the location - the entire experience was so amazing. The place has everything too, so you can drive up the road to her Orchard - pick your dinner and then come back to the house and cook up a storm with all her utensils and spices etc. Kayla and her family were so lovely, and always ready to drop everything to give us recommendations or show us around. The area is so beautiful too, with many great shops and restaurants just 5 min away. I can't recommend her place enough.

    Luke2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kayla's place was great. Clean, spacious and well equipped with everything we might have needed. We had a lovely time relaxing at the place and also enjoyed exploring the surrounding areas, including picking fruit and veggies at her family farm! We were traveling with our newborn and she kindly set up a pack n play, which was most helpful. Beautiful area and a great home base for the weekend.

  • Such an extraordinary place. A very old house full of light & space, with a warm lovely heart & soul. The photos don't really show its homey character. I was afraid it might be chilly and severe (like a museum, don't touch or even laugh) but it's not at all. Robert left fabulous purple-red roses on the table, and was kind and helpful when we had small needs during our 4-day stay. We felt lucky to stay here - the artworks and drawings, the fully stocked kitchen, the gardens, the enormous trees, the very comfy livingroom and beds, the excellent heating system, and most of all the welcoming spirit made us forget the terrible week we'd left behind in NYC.

    Pamela2017-11-25T00:00:00Z

    Isa2017-08-15T00:00:00Z

  • We had the most spectacular long weekend at Bobby's house in Stuyvesant. The space is stunning, full of beautiful art and interesting objects, but also comfortable, with a warm, lived-in feeling. Bobby was a wonderful host--he left a welcome tray with treats and was available to answer questions, give recommendations, etc. We had plans to explore the countryside, but the house was so nice, we spent most of our time sunning in the garden, or drinking coffee on the porch. A perfect little kingdom. We'll be back!

    Jay2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Robert's cottage is very sweet -- perfect for a couple on a weekend getaway. The furnishings are quite comfortable and the decor is "quirky" (to use Robert's word); in short, the place has a lot of personality. The beds are great and the kitchen has everything you need, with very nice cookware and dishes; towels and linens are high quality. (Note: no bathtub, just a standup shower). TV and channels were a bit tricky to figure out, but all the basics there: a nice widescreen and a great couch to watch from. The porch and garden are wonderful, and there is so much to do in the neighborhood. Robert was very responsive to questions and check-in was a breeze. Do be aware that this property does feel "lived in" -- less anonymous than some rentals, but in exchange you get a nice place with real personality.

    Ezra2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Robert's house is really magical and beautifully manicured. I stayed with my wife and two year old. Well protected from the road, quiet and private. Perfect front porch for meals and hanging out.

Charming home at the end of a country road on the Kinderhook Creek surrounded by fields and woods with hiking/biking trails and a very private swimming hole! HVAC and a cozy fireplace make this a comfortable year-round getaway and a wonderful place to enjoy the fall colors! Within easy drive of endless things to do and places to explore such as the quaint town of Chatham (5 min), Tanglewood (35 min), antiquing in Hudson (20 min) and good skiing too (Catamount 30 min, Butternut 45 min)!
This mid-century home in Chatham features wonderful period details such as a sunken living room built around a massive stone fireplace (yes, it works!), central HVAC, built-in vacuum, state-of-the (then) art St. Charles kitchen, huge stone patio with built-in outdoor kitchen, and tiered garden behind the house. Built by a young Italian immigrant-turned-U.S. Army lieutenant for his beloved young wife after his return from WWII, the home and its details were planned down to the last minutiae by the young officer as a way to keep up his spirit and remind him of home while fighting his way foxhole-to-foxhole during the fierce and bloody Italian Campaign. While sadly, some of these features such as the built-in vacuum and built-in blender in the kitchen are obsolete and non-functioning, and much of the outdoor stonework has settled over time, it is still fun to find details that attest to the home as the manifestation of the American Dream by that hopeful and war-weary young soldier (check out the brass outlet in the middle of the stone floor of the living room so there could be a lamp in the middle of the room without the need for an unsightly extension cord). While the builder and his lovely wife never had children and therefor no need for a second bedroom, I renovated the home to create a second bedroom out of the once-even-more-grand living room for my two daughters.
They don't call the area Chatham Center for nothing - it is close to all the major attractions in the area. Five minutes from the charming town of Chatham with great shops and eateries. 20 minutes from the excellent antiquing center, Hudson New York. 35 minutes from the quaint towns of Western Massachusetts such as Great Barrington, West Stockbridge and Lenox. For the more adventurous, Saratoga Springs and its famous race track are an hour’s drive away. Nearby skiing includes Catamount (35 minutes), Jiminy Peak (45 min) and Butternut (45 min). Cultural Activities Particularly during the summer, the area is teaming with cultural attractions. Most famously, the Tanglewood Music Center is a scenic 35 minute drive. The Egg Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Albany is only 30 minutes away. Other nearby cultural destinations include Shakespeare & Company (40 min), Norman Rockwell Museum (40 min), New York State Museum (30 min) and many more. Historic Sites History comes alive at two nearby museums depicting 18th and 19th centuries. Old Austerlitz is a living museum of 19th Century houses and barns. Hancock Shaker Village, a restored and walkable 19th century village featuring the famous Round Stone Barn (30 min). For the Kids An easy 35 minute drive away, Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, MA is a wonderful, kid-friendly, hand-on art, history and natural science museum.
  • This house was such a wonderful place to stay! Clearly the original owners loved it, and Brewster seems to have done some thoughtful renovations/maintenance - the result is a very comfortable house with lots of charm! It was very quiet and peaceful, as it is at the end of the road. We especially enjoyed the cozy fireplace. It is very clean and the kitchen is stocked with pots and pans (bring your own spices). Would love to visit this house again in the summer time and make use of the swimming hole! P.S - dog owners, this may be obvious, but don't forget about flea and tick control!

  • Brewster's home was perfect for us, while visiting a family member in Albany. We loved walking and bike riding around the area, and found great places to eat at. We'd love to be back again.

  • My boyfriend and I spent an amazing weekend at Brewster's Kinderhook Creek house. The photos did not due justice to this unique and comfy place. The house has an other-worldly vibe, from the mid-century furniture to the cool kitchen tiles. We loved everything about it and it was at a dead end road only surrounded by fields, which made it quiet and private, exactly what we were looking for in an escape from the city. we wished it was warmer so we could have spent more time outside. Brewster was an awesome host. He was quick to respond and left detailed instructions as well as suggestions for places to visit. There was breakfast foods for us in the fridge and duraflame logs to get the fire started. Everything was easy and welcoming. We are hoping to go back again soon!

  • To be extremely nice ...this jerk never showed up. My family and I travel cross-country to meet. We had no other arrangements other than this. I have no words for how angry I am!

  • My second time here for Columbus Day weekend. Just beautiful and spacious for my family of four. Can't wait to come back next year.

  • Kinderhook Creek Retreat is down a long road, well away from car traffic, making the only thing you hear wild life and a few passing trains a day yet its conveniently only a 10 minutes drive to town. It was very peaceful there and the landscape was beautiful. The swimming hole was a lovely walk through some fields away and was clean and refreshing. The house is very comfortable with a great layout and some wonderful art and mid-modern accessories. It was helpful to have the option of AC, but we got such a great cross breeze in the house we didn't need it. Overall we had a wonderful stay. Brewster was easy to reach and very accommodating of my families needs. Thanks Brewster, hopefully we'll be back soon!

  • The house and yard are magical. We could not have asked for a more perfect getaway. Thanks so much! Can't wait to come back!

  • Very much enjoyed our stay here for a quiet weekend out of the city. The house is very charming, spacious and airy with lots of lovely details. Walked to the creek, grilled on the deck, and relaxed while appreciating the excellent raindrop on roof acoustics! Would definitely stay again. Thanks!

  • Joshua was a wonderful host. We highly recommend staying at his beautiful home. We enjoyed conversation, and the piece de resistance was that he cooked dinner for us. Comfortable and we really felt welcomed. We hope to stay on our next trip to the area.

  • Loved Joshua's home and its beautiful location. Comfy beds, house was spotless and neat, gorgeously designed and decorated, and quiet, which is what I wanted. Nice cookware and appliances. Enjoyed visiting neighbors' horses and viewing daytime scenery and stars at night. Bring a hair dryer if needed. Joshua was easily available to answer questions on the phone and through Air bnb. A lovely stay~

  • Geoff and Kristi will be super hosts soon enough. Their hospitality is second to none. Their house is stunning. The room is very clean, cozy, comfy. The location is great and quiet, but it's easy to get to great places to eat and good things to do. My husband and I appreciate the company and conversation with locals and they were sure enough to deliver. They are very helpful with ideas of ways to fill time with good local attractions and good local (non-chain) restaurants. We look forward to returning to the area and hopefully staying with them again if their schedule is not completely booked (which I'm sure it will be)....stay with them. You'll be glad you did!

    Lisa2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Geoff and Kristi's place was beautiful. It was in a perfect location, close to many towns like Hudson and Chatham but with the secluded privacy of being able to take in the fresh air and the gorgeous mountain view. The house itself was very clean and organized, and the room was stocked up with coffee and tea as well as its own private bathroom with toiletries available. It was the perfect relaxing getaway from the city. Both Kristi and Geoff are kind, hospitable, and accomodating hosts. I highly recommend this airbnb for anyone looking around this area.

    Tasha2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Geoff and Kristi were great hosts. They were friendly and made us feel welcomed. The room is private and has it's own separate bathroom. The location is central. 30 min from the Berkshires, MA , <25min from Hudson, and in very close proximity to Chatham and Kinderhook. Also about 30 min from Albany. The place itself is very peaceful and a great getaway.

    Glennis2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Geoff and Kristi have such a wonderful little cozy room up in the Catskills. My boyfriend and I enjoyed some relaxation and wine in the Adirondack chairs while taking in the freshness of the summer air of upstate. They were super helpful, friendly, and communicative- not to mention put us up last minute when we were caught in a pinch and needed a place to stay on the busiest travel wknd of the year. These guys are great and the area downtown is only a few minutes drive away. definitely worth it!

    MACKENZIE2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to stay in fabulous location. Wonderful hosts who considered everything- from toiletries to fresh cut flowers and coffee in the morning. The room and private bath were exactly what we needed.

  • Marianne was a lovely and accommodating host and the pool house was beautiful. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to our friends.

    Rebecca2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Marianne was amazing and was so gracious and attentive to our needs. The home was even better than the pics with great attention to detail in the overall decor, amazing bedding and thoughtful organic complimentary teas, etc. We fell in love with the little town, the darling house and the beautiful serene countryside. It was a perfect girls getaway from the NYC crazy. We will def be back soon!

    Brooke2016-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Marianne's place was a wonderful get-away from the city. We were treated with rolling hills, open space, a natural pond and a gazebo a short stroll from the house. The pool area was very well laid out with a dining table and lounging chairs. In the evening you can see stars and the Milky Way while enjoying the sounds of crickets and the symphony of frogs croaking but don't worry, the windows are sound tight so it won't keep you up at nights. Being situated just off of 9J means you don't see many cars whizzing by. Marianne was very helpful in giving us information and even did some research for us regarding our needs before our arrival date. Very friendly, she even stopped by from her busy schedule to hang out for a few minutes to chat. She is extremely responsive whenever I texted her. Stuyvesant is a great midway point between Hudson and Albany.

    Harold2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time in an amazing place! Marianne is an awesome host. Would definitely come back again.

    Adam2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Again, everything was perfect! I came back, I probably will again!

    Stéphane2016-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • It was very nice, Getting there and checking in was easy. The big room or living room is comfortable and nicely decorated for the holidays. Two new showers/baths which is always good and all the kitchen is new. There is a sculpture park next town over which made for a good walk. We enjoyed our stay, it was just for one night on our way to visit relatives.

    james2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious house in the Hudson Valley. I stayed with my friend, but it would also be great for a family or two couples. Well stocked with kitchen!

Built in 1790 as a blacksmith shop named “The Town Ax," Blacksmith House was rebuilt in the early 1990's and renovated by the present owners in 2017. The roughhewn beams of the original structure are exposed in every room. Approached by a grand stone staircase, set in a lilac-lined hamlet with plantings, surrounded by wildflowers, furnished with antiques and primitive Americana, Blacksmith House radiates tranquility and graciousness with its full-width front porch and classic proportions.
The original beams from 1790 are visible in every room. There are skylight windows in the master bedroom and third-floor loft. The kitchen has updated appliances, and each bathroom has a clawfoot tub. The furnishings are antiques and primitive Americana. There are laundry facilities on the second floor.
Just down the road from the Omi International Arts Center and The Fields Sculpture Park. Ten miles from Chatham, Kinderhook, and Hudson shops, restaurants and Amtrak. Twenty miles off exit B3 of the Mass Pike. Twenty-five miles from Bard College. Thirty miles from Tanglewood. Amidst rolling hills and pastures, Blacksmith House exists in a space all its own, surrounded by blooming nature by day and stars and fireflies at night.
