Just booked in Kentstown

Stay in our newly renovated stone cottage, in the a rural setting in Co. Meath. Visit the historic sites of Newgrange Megalithic tombs, The Hill of Slane, Tara and the site of the Battle of the Boyne. 30 mins from Dublin Airport.
Restoration of the Three Bears Cottage has been, for our family, a labour of love. The thoughtful design has turned a traditional labourers cottage into a modern living space, quaint, cosy and impeccably clean. Sleeping accommodation consists of one double bedroom on the ground floor and two additional single beds in the upper loft space, suitable for two teenagers or adults.
The Cottage is set in a quiet, peaceful location, perfect for chilling out and resting after a busy day of touring. We know that you will feel welcome, secure and at home in our rural community.
  • We had a fantastic stay at The Three Bears Cottage. Michelle and Brendan were lovely and welcoming and gave us some great tips for what to do in the area. The house is so pretty and the little book describing its beginnings is a sweet touch. It was so nice to be able to come and chill out, and it was even better to find a little welcome pack of provisions to help us settle in. Everything is beautifully kept and it looks exactly as appears in the pictures. We loved our stay, thanks again Michelle and Brendan! An extra bonus is the little pub down the road, we walked down and the owner dropped us home!!!

  • We felt very much at home with Noel and Mary this weekend. The location was perfect for watching Guns n' Roses at Slane Castle and their local knowledge ensured we got in and out of the venue with complete ease. Breakfast was delicious as were Mary's homemade cakes, scones and jam and lots of cups of tea. Our room was comfortable and clean with everything we needed. We can't praise Noel and Mary enough for an absolutely fantastic weekend, they really were wonderful hosts.

    Karen2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Noel and Mary couldn't have been more gracious hosts. They were accommodating for our late check in and had a special surprise for our arrival on St Paddy's Day. The room was clean and comfortable with a private bathroom but the real treat was the amazing breakfast. Homemade jams, bread, farm fresh eggs, their own honey, and a variety of breakfast meats, plus coffee, tea, water, juice; we felt very spoiled and grateful. The hosts were charming and eagerly helpful with discussing places to visit during our vacation.

    Alisha2017-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and boyfriend attended a wedding in ballymagarvey village over the christmas period and stayed at Willowfarm house. Location was excellent and Noel kindly picked us up after the wedding that night. Our room was very spacious and clean, very comfy bed and a great fry up the next morning! Sepcial mention to the homemade jams and honey! I would highly recommend!

  • Huge thanks to Anne for being the perfect host on our first experience of Airbnb. Anne is a lovely, friendly host who made us feel warmly welcomed in her home. We stayed here to attend a wedding in nearby Ballymagarvey Village and the location could not have been more convenient - just a few minutes walk. Spacious room and comfortable bed, shared bathroom. A very tasty breakfast with homemade bread and jams was thoroughly enjoyed. Anne offered great advice on negotiating the (very busy) main road and even gave us a lift to the hotel the following morning to avoid the rain and save us having to haul our luggage. We would highly recommend staying here, particularly for Ballymagarvey wedding guests.

    Bronagh2017-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Anne and her family were fantastic: very inviting and hospitable. Made me proud to be Irish! 10/10

  • Lovely house literally across the road from Ballymagarvey Village. Nice family home with very spacious bedroom and bathroom. Home baked bread and a cooked breakfast in the morning made it a great value stay.

    Brenda2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This B&B is ideally located across the road from the gates of Ballmagarvey House. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast food and presentation was excellent. Hosts lovely and relaxed. Breakfast was served up to 10.30am which was brilliant after a wedding. Shared bathroom was the only downside.

Trim 25 minutes Monasterboice 30 minutes and Loughcrew Cairns 45 minutes. There are various good restaurants and pubs a short drive away. My cottage is also perfectly located if you are attending a wedding in the nearby Ballymagarvy Village. Its only 8 minutes away by car or taxi. Slane Castle, Tankardstown House and Bellinter House are also close by.
  • Beautiful homely cottage, couldn't hear anything but bird song. Great location, Dublin and the coast easily accessible with fabulous historic sits nearby. Very much enjoyed sunbathing in the lovely garden with a glass of wine. Very friendly, helpful host on hand if we needed anything, hope to be back soon.

    Helena2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great trip and thoroughly enjoyed staying in Fiona’s idyllic cottage! It was exactly, if not nicer than we had expected and we enjoyed many evenings snuggled by the fire with a glass of wine! We got to see much more of Ireland’s beautiful countryside than we usually do & found that it was a good central point for exploring this part of the country. We drove up North to Belfast one of the days which only took us about an hour & a half, we popped into Dublin City & explored County Wicklow & the surrounding countryside. All not that far from the cottage. Navan is a quaint but nice little town and we enjoyed eating out here a couple of times. I got to visit family & we truly had a very relaxing & enjoyable stay. We would definitely like to return one day. The only tiny negative we found was that the WiFi wasn’t very reliable & the location was a bit more remote than we had previously thought. But regardless, we loved our trip & loved the cottage. It had everything you could want and was beautifully decorated and furnished. Thanks again for being a wonderful host Fiona, she was always at the other end of the phone & was very helpful & considerate. Hopefully we’ll be back one day! Merry Christmas!

    Nikki2017-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona's Sculptors Cosy Cottage is exactly that, very cozy and all sorts of wonderful. It is in a residential area about 15 minutes Newgrange, making it the perfect jumping off point to see the sights. But her place is much more, it is secluded with a wonderful garden, it is easy to curl up in front of the fire and read a book or just relax. The kitchen is well appointed so self-catering is very easy. Fiona keeps her place very clean and tidy, it is easy for me to recommend.

    Matt2016-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a short but lovely stay in Fiona's cottage. We were attending a wedding in Slane so it was a perfect spot for us to return to after the wedding. The cottage is beautiful and we were lucky enough to be able to enjoy the sun the next morning on the patio area having a relaxing breakfast. Thank you Fiona for allowing us enjoy your home even if it was only for one night!

    Tara2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona’s Sculptors Cosy Cottage is just wonderful! Great, quiet neighborhood where you can go for nice walks. Her garden with the bird feeders, flowers feels like a peaceful, refreshing sanctuary where you can have a cup of tea- the little robin bird that hangs out is so cute. The cottage is warm, clean, inviting. Fiona was respectful of our space. She also was so helpful and available with little things that we needed, especially being available as a contact person since our luggage arrived late. We stayed for 1 week and would stay again. Great location. We came for a wedding in Kells but Dublin, Drogheda, Bettystown, Trim, Hill of Tara, NewGrange and more all really easily accessible. Nice open kitchen and lots of space to relax. This cottage is in the country, so important to follow the directions Fiona provides. When we visit family again, we would definitely stay at Fiona’s cottage. Wishing you all the Best Fiona.

  • This was a perfectly lovely cottage and experience. The pictures show accurately the charm of the place, but in addition it felt so peaceful, quiet, and serene. Fiona was a very accommodating hostess, but she was also respectful of our privacy. The location was excellent for seeing the sights and also for getting to (or from) the airport. If you stay here be sure to follow Fiona's suggestions for restaurants. I only wish we could have stayed longer in the area and in this cottage.

    Betty2016-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cosy cottage in rural Meath. Very peaceful setting, close to heritage sites and several wedding venues. Fiona was very easy to communicate with and very helpful.

    Rachel2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Fiona's place! The house was very clean with lots of thoughtful touches like emergency toiletries in the bathroom, and having the house nice and warm for when we checked in. I highly recommend this house, and would happily stay there again.

  • Catriona was really helpful to find her accommodation, which is nice situated to discover the North of Dublin (Hill of Tara, Newgrange...). The sleeping room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Thanks you, Catriona, for the breakfasts, which were really good and well prepared ! Our stay was a nice experience, and we will not hesitate to come anew by Catriona !

    François2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Really pleasant and private stay in Balrath. Catriona has a lovely home and after a quick orientation left me to my own devices. Great location to stay if attending a wedding at Ballymagarvey Village. ***Transport Note*** Make sure you check out around 11:15 if taking public transport to Dublin/elsewhere as Collins' bus can be sporadic at best. Bus stop is outside the Post Office, not where (Hidden by Airbnb) maps says it is.

    Eoin2016-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a quiet place to stay while exploring County Meath, I'd recommend Catriona's. Her house is on a quiet and lovely lane. We had very limited time, but it would have been a good location from which to take day trips to Newgrange, Hill of Tara, Slane Castle, and various other historical areas. We only had time for a drive by of Newgrange and a lovely visit to Kells. We were attending a wedding reception at Ballymagarvey Village which is beautiful, but priced out of our range. If you're in a similar situation and need a comfortable room and a friendly host, I recommend staying at Catriona's place.

    Keith2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a wedding in Ballymagarvey Village. Catriona is very welcoming and it is ideal for attending an event at Ballymagarvey as it is only a couple of minutes away in a taxi.

  • Ideal spot if going to wedding in Ballymagarvey

    John2017-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Catriona seemed nice but we didn't had a lot of contact with each other. The communication for the check in was problematic for us. Just on the same morning we got the information that Airbnb got the address wrong and through the whole day we didn't really know when we could arrive at the house which made it very hard for us to plan the day. Even though Catriona stayed in the same house, we didn't saw her very much and we were surprised that when we came back at home in the evening the WIFI that we were allowed to use was gone, so not possible for us to use anymore. All in all, the two nights were okay but there are a few things that could be improved.

    Sarah2016-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was good as we expected. Catriona was friendly and helpful.

    Istvan2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Catriona was a brilliant host and we very much enjoyed our stay here. We were very grateful for a lift from Catriona from our bus stop when we arrived and continental breakfast in the mornings was a lovely option. Thank you for an excellent stay.

I am a fluent French and German speaker and my house is situated near the Hill of Tara in Co Meath. It is very private and tranquil. I can offer you the full Irish breakfast and late check out at no extra cost. If I am available, I can welcome you on arrival and if I am not there on arrival, I will catch up with you later.
The house is located in the heart of the countryside and is very private. It is 40 minutes drive to the airport and 3minutes from the M3 Interchange exit 7 . The town of Navan is about 4miles away. The house is about 2miles from the Hill of Tara.
It is a very friendly neighbourhood and I live in a very quiet, private and tranquil area.
  • Anne's house is full of light and warmth and is spotlessly clean. Our room was pure LUXURY! We wakened at our leisure to a table set for breakfast, including homemade scones and wheaten bread. Anne was helpful and kind and made our stay extremely relaxed. We'd recommend this listing in a heartbeat.

  • I would suggest Anne's house to anyone for lodging. Her house is beautiful, clean, and she is a FANTASTIC host! She made us feel at home and we had such a good time visiting with her. Also....Amazing homemade scones! This house is about 5 minutes from town and it is quiet and peaceful with beautiful scenery.

  • Anne is fantastic she welcomed us to Ireland with great hospitality. I would highly recommend staying here to get a full service from a bnb. Great company, Great accommodation and a Great breakfast. We were surprised to have a Jacuzzi in our room! The house is stunning we felt like princesses in a castle. There is lots to do around the area if you like the outdoors such as cycling, horse riding, walking, site seeing and a short drive to Dublin. Easy to get to Anne's off the motorway and it is straight down to Dublin city centre. If you want the visit Dublin I would recommend staying here, thanks Anne :)

  • Anne is genuine, charming and friendly host. The house is magnificent, the surrounding is breathtaking and the double room with a Jacuzzi bath was the icing on the cake. It looks far on the map but it took me only 45 min by bus from Dublin city and I think it is well worth the effort.

  • This cottage is everything you want it to be! Roomy yet cozy, and in a great location to explore the historic Boyne Valley area. Plus it is just a few minutes down the road by car to the quaint village of Slane where you have everything you need. This is perfect for self catering, which is easy with a full range and microwave and fridge. Plus the bonus is that Mary's husband, Seamus, is a master craftsman wood worker and his workshop is next door so you can see his beautiful and outstanding woodworking pieces. You will want to take it all home with you! Great location. Great place to stay. Great hosts!

    Lisa2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Both Mary & Seamus greeted us on arrival, both are such lovely people. Mary baked us lovely hot scones. The cabin was located out in the country but very central for seeing sites.

    Laurie2016-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you, Mary and Seamus for the use of your cottage. We had a great weekend away and felt very relaxed. We were shown the cottage and appliances by Mary who also gave us great insight to the area and got 2 discounted passes to Newgrange which was really nice. Another nice thing was we were left milk, butter and lovely bread in the box which was very thoughtful. We got to see a lot of the area and used the cottage as our base and also wasn't that far from Drogheda to buy groceries. All in all it was a great getaway and the cottage felt very Homely and secluded

    Mícheál 2016-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We were sorry we only booked this place for two nights! It's the perfect getaway and the hosts have thought of all the necessities. We didn't get to meet Mary, but Seamus was so welcoming and helpful. Thanks for a great stay!

    Greta2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first trip to Ireland and I was so excited to have scored such a great cottage - I showed the photos to everyone! When I arrived, I couldn't believe that it was actually MORE lovely than the photos - didn't think that was possible but it was and it is. The cottage dates from the 1700's and it is most lovingly and beautifully restored. Hard wood floors, a perfect little kitchen (all amenities) a fantastic bed and roomy shower (excellent water pressure). Immaculately clean. Mary and Seamus are the most lovely and gracious hosts! Provided me many extras: freshly laid eggs, perfect fruit, a piece of cheddar cheese, a beautiful little loaf of bread and a slab of fresh Irish butter and more. Heaven. Helped with the little and the big things. I was made to feel most welcome and cared for. The location is spectacular. All I could hear at night was the bleating of sheep. It is near one of the most lovely little villages in County Meath, but far enough from everything that you're truly in the country. One night there were shooting stars and I counted 17. If you're fortunate, Seamus will provide a tour of his wood turning studio. He is a skilled and artistic creator of beautiful pieces. Some came home in my suitcase. How could they not? You would be truly fortunate and lucky to stay here. I'm already planning my return trip for next year. Absolutely nothing to say that is not positive and commendable. Thank you Seamus and Mary for your hospitality and kindness!

    Mary Ann2015-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This little cottage is very cute and was prefect for 2 nights exploring the Boyne valley. Mary and Seamus were lovely hosts and very accommodating. The place is next to a small rural road but is very quiet and I slept well in the comfy bed. The kitchen has all you need for basic cooking...and the place is very clean and cute. One thing to know is that there isn't great mobile reception in the area and the WiFi is a weak connection but you can still get on when needed. It's good to be off the grid for a bit and escape into the true country experience. ..though unfortunately we're all a bit too dependent on being connected when travelling. Definitely worth staying here at the little cottage for a true Irish country experience! Thanks Mary and Seamus!

    Karen2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Seamus and Mary's cottage is really well laid out and spotless inside. A lot of thought has gone into its design and Seamus and Mary don't disappoint as hosts. Brown bread, orange juice, cheese etc...were all lovely touches but having Seamus' woodturning workshop nearby adds to your stay. Whether you decide to buy or just browse it's great to see true quality goods being made. Once again thanks for a great stay:)

    Mark2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fabulous base for touring Meath. Mary and Seamus have restored this very old building into a cosy and luxurious cottage. Mary's attention to detail and some delicious goodies she left made us feel very spoilt. Seamus' tour of his woodturning studio which we caught bustling with the activity of local turners was a delight. Both Mary and Seamus were extraordinarily kind and thoughtful, pointing us to local dining spots and sights and filling us in on local history. There is loads to see in the area, Brú na Bóinne is just down the road for Neolithic wanderings, St Patrick's hill is worth the walk and the famous Slane castle can provide a late night whisky. We would stay again and for longer next time.

This was a rural neighbourhood predominated by farming families, though now many of the residence communte to Dublin and other towns, to work. However it is still a quiet and rural in that you wake to the sound of the birds, sheep and cows. It is special for me as it is so peaceful and far removed from the hustle and bustle of life while still only a 40 min drive to the capital city centre of Dublin. It is also in the centre of one of Irelands most ancient and sacred Celtic areas. It has both Celtic beauty and mystic charm so I am happy to call it home.
  • We really enjoyed our stay with Catherine. Even though it is far from the city center and from public transportation, she always made time to drive us to the bus station in the morning and pick us in the evening - a real life saver. If you are looking for more of an authentic Irish experience in the country, this is the place to stay! She even made us toast and jam and coffee every morning. The room is a great size for 2 and the bed is very comfortable. Everything was very clean and we felt very welcomed. We would definitely go back!

  • My wife and I enjoyed so much our stay at Catherine's place, she is a great host and nothing is to much to bother. She has a beautiful house in a nice and quiet neighborhood. It was clean and cozy, the room was lovely decorated and the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was nice and big. We arrived exhausted and were immediately ushered into a warm kitchen and given coffee and pastries ( she also offered tea but we are coffee lovers). Catherine cook us a lovely breakfast every morning, even bake for us delicious Irish bread!!! She sat and chatted with us :) She also recommended beautiful places to visit and great restaurants to eat. We loved so much staying at Catherine's place, that when we come back again with out daughter,we will stay with her for sure! I highly recommend without a question. Thank you so much Catherine, see you soon!!!

  • Great place and people. Catherine gave a lovely welcome and great tips and as a host myself it is a valuable experience to be a guest and experience it from the other side. Can only recommend this place to see some of our history and meet real people. Thanks

    Bunny2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine's place is the perfect location from which to explore the culturally rich Boyne Valley. Her lovely home is just minutes away from The Hill of Tara and only 30 or fewer minutes away from literally dozens of Ireland's most sacred and historic places. Catherine is incredibly knowledgeable about the history and culture of all aspects of Irish life. She is actually in the process of expanding her services to offer custom made guided tours that cater to the desires of her guests. Keep a look out for her website....and don't hesitate to ask her to provide you with a tour if you'd like. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to explore the depths of the Blu na Boinne!

  • I am so glad that I chose to stay with Catherine! This was my first Air BnB and I was a little nervous to be staying at a stranger's house, but Catherine put me at ease right away. She picked me up at the bus stop and drive me to the Hill of Tara where she gave me a private tour. Then she also arranged to take me out and meet some of the other locals that night. Her house is incredibly cozy, the shower is hot, the bed is comfy, and she had thought of every detail, down to the slippers and robe. I had some great conversations with her and feel I have made a new friend! Hope we can stay in touch!

  • The stay in Catherine's home was lovely. It is a warm, comfortable and clean home in a beautiful, quiet and rural setting. Catherine herself is very hospitable, informative and friendly & we enjoyed some great conversations with her. We arrived later than scheduled but this did not prove to be a problem. I would recommend Catherine's home.

  • My daughter and I stayed and unlike most other Airbnb offerings Catherine has multiple rooms available rather than multiple beds crammed into one room. It was perfect for us. Her rates are extremely reasonable. Catherine was amazingly helpful and gracious, holds an incredible amount of knowledge about the art, history, herstory, culture of Ireland. When she found out my daughter liked dance she invited her to a traditional Irish Step Dance. Phoebe was over the moon! Catherine was simply amazing and her home is lovely.

  • One of the best Airbnb's I have stayed in. Very clean and comfortable! Has a great countryside Irish feel!

  • The cottage was so quaint and cosy. Not too far from local pubs for food and drinks. And only a half hour outside of Dublin. Perfect if you've rented a car, want to explore the countryside but also want to have options to head into the city. The beds were very comfortable and everything was extremely unique. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for something relaxing!

Home to many historic places of interest namely; Hill of Tara, Newgrange, Boyne Valley and historic Battle of the Boyne site, Trim Castle, Kells Monastic Site and the Spire of Lloyd, Monasterboice, Old Mellifont Abbey, Slane Castle and nearby Drogheda Heritage Town. We are also very close to Tayto Park, Bellinter House, Ballymagarvey village and Mrs O's pub. Only 30 minutes drive to Dublin Airport and City.
Tara House is in a peaceful rural setting but also has the advantage of being within 30 minutes drive of Dublin City, Dublin Airport and local beaches. We also have an abundance of golf courses, historical sites and lovely places to eat.
A lovely place to live. Very quiet. Local shop, church and pub within walking distance. Also two further pubs 15 mins walk away.
  • We had such a great experience here! It was a really really great value for the price! We had the entire upstairs area with 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms. The beds were VERY comfortable, everything was very clean and nice. It was like being home. Mo is very kind and accomadating and even did our laundry for us which was so sweet. We had access to the kitchen as well so we could cook our meals. The house is in a beautiful quiet area very close to the hill of Tara and other sacred sites. Thank you so much for having us More!!! We hope to come back again next year!

  • Mo was a perfect host and so accommodating to our schedule! This was our last night in Ireland before heading to the airport very early in the morning, which was an easy 25 minute drive so early. Mo made sure that we felt right at home and welcomed us after all of our travels while supplying all that we needed for our stay. Highly recommend!

    Caroline2017-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Would highly recommend. Close to all the Neolithic sites and Mo's house is very cosy and homely. I think we'll b back again soon

    Martin2018-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • We have had the chance of being the first Airbnb travellers to visit Mo's place. She was extremly generous and welcoming. This is the place to stay if you want a good chat and learn about the history of Ireland and specially the Hills of Tara region. Centrally located in the region ( 2 minutes away from the famous J. O'connell Pub featured in the Guiness commercials). We wish Mo the best of luck with her Airbnb and we recommend it to travellers in Ireland!

  • Mo was a great host. The house was cute and clean, and Mo went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and at home. The house is in a quiet area, but within five miles of a bus stop that takes you directly to Dublin. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and recommend this place wholeheartedly.

The Saddle Room is at the end of a long tree lined avenue, offering comfort and privacy in a lovely rural setting. It is within easy access to the motorway network; Dublin Airport is only a thirty minute drive away and the charm of Dublin City a mere forty minutes away! We are fortunate to have 3 of Meath's best wedding venues close by: Ballymagarvey is 5 minutes away, The Millhouse in Slane is 15 minutes while Tankardstown House is 40 minutes away. The award winning Tayto Park is 10 mins away.
The Saddle Room is named because in the past it housed apprentice jockeys, alongside the saddles and bridles used in the family's NH racing and thoroughbred breeding business. David and Pamela completed its conversion (with the help and support of local builder, Ray Smyth) in 2016. It comprises a light and airy open plan living room with a separate small kitchen. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms and a bathroom with large walk in shower, loo, handbasin and electric towel rail. The Saddle Room can accomodate four guests with an additional bed (small) available if required downstairs in the open space.
The Saddle Room maybe located in a tranquil rural setting but it is within easy distance to the Tara, Balrath, Slane, Drogheda, Newgrange and the Caves of Dowth. Ratoath, and Navan, the beaches at Bettystown and Laytown are all within easy reach from here. This is an ideal place to stay after arriving at the airport.
  • Wonderful hosts, fabulous accommodation, so homely, Pamela & David have thought of everything. Recommend you check out this beautiful place.

    Sue2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • The aesthetic of this estate is brilliant. this is a saddle house from the outside once through the door the finished work done by David's hand is top notch. And if Pamela isn't an interior designer, she should be. The kitchen is well stocked with teas, milk and juices. If lucky you may be treated to Pamela's lemon drizzle cake. Comfortable master bedroom with another room with two beds make this ideal for a family of four. Full walk in shower. Would come here again in a heartbeat when we return

    mike2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is the most amazing Air B&B offering! If you love the countryside and want to be only a pleasant car ride from Dublin, you will love the experience of staying in David and Pamela's Saddle Room. It is a converted saddle room that has been transformed into a fully modern interior with beautiful furnishings and accoutrements. Pamela and David attended to all our needs and gave us free reign to explore the beautiful woods, farmlands, gardens, and other natural beauty on their property, as well as allowed us access to petting their magical horse, which was a special delight! David was constantly attending to our various needs in terms of lighting the lovely wood stove, providing reservations at local restaurants for us and advising us of sightseeing offerings in Dublin. Pamela quickly took us under her wing and showed us her beautiful property, gardens, and pets, as well as opened her heart to us in every way. We can hardly wait to return again, and believe me, Saddle Room will make you feel that you have been transported a hundred years back into the middle of an Irish novel that you always longed to be a part of! Please, if you are so fortunate as to rent the Saddle Room, you will not be disappointed, as it is all you might expect and more out of a lovely countryside accommodation. Reserve it and enjoy!

    Constantina2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Saddle Room is quite simply beautiful! The care and detail gone in to the refurbishment is to an exceptionally high standard! The grounds of the main house are stunning and a walk around the garden is an absolute must made even better if Pamela or David are available to guide you round! Pamela and David go that extra mile to ensure that you have a wonderful stay at The Saddle Room and are discreetly on hand to give advice on the best places for dinner and sites worth seeing in the area. It was a real treat to spend a few days away and be looked after so well, I cannot reccomend The Saddle Room and Pamela and David as hosts highly enough. We hope to be back!

    Angela2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Saddle Room is absolutely lovely - the pictures don't do it justice. It's nicely decorated and very cozy, especially as David was kind enough to start a fire for us each evening when we arrived back. The property is staggeringly beautiful - exactly what one envisions of an Irish country house. We would absolutely recommend staying here if you're in the area...couldn't have asked for anything nicer.

    Dan2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Saddle Room is an very special experience. The accommodation itself is amazing there's a lot of space - it's all very modern and very nicely decorated, the hosts put thought of every detail, from the kitchen to the bathroom, fireplace - everything is there! The surroundings are beautiful (the pictures don't lie, it's even more beautiful than we could expected). But what's most special are David and Pamela and their hospitality - it's very rare to stay at a place like this - I can highly recommend it to anybody.

    Marjolein2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • David and Pamela were wonderful hosts. The Saddle House was more than we could imagine and the property was beautiful!! It was really nice to enjoy the Irish countryside. The house was great for the three of us and we enjoyed playing with the horses and dogs! Thank you for making our last couple days amazing in Ireland!!

    Washington DC2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • David and Pamela offer truly amazing accommodation. I had seen the positive reviews but nothing prepared me for quite how amazing it was. David and Pamela provided a well stocked home for rent including all the necessities (milk, bread, ham etc.) and the not so necessary, but very welcome, treats (some fizzy drinks). Pamela provided a guided tour of the property; I'll admit my envy of David and Pamela, their property is just stunning. The dogs and horses were very friendly, their cat seemed equally so. The ducks and calves completed the rustic setting. The Saddle Room is an ideal place to escape to and recharge. It's rural setting provides a welcome escape from city living. I look forward to returning for a longer stay.

My place is close to great views and some of Ireland's historic monuments including Newgrange, Knowth, The Hill of Tara and Slane Castle. Enjoy walks along the River Boyne. Only 40 minutes from Dublin too! You’ll love my place because of the cosy farmhouse, our quiet cul-de-sac is surrounded by countryside, perfect for hiking and exploring, and our farmyard is bustling with life. Breakfast and tea/coffee always provided. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers.
  • Josie's place is absolutely amazing. She is a lovely, warm and caring host. It was the best welcome to Ireland. We had an amazing experience with the best food (Josie is truly magical in the kitchen). Even though the house isn't central, there are lovely places to go visit in the area and Josie was really kind taking us there. It's worth staying at Josie's for sure!

    Sara2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Josie's place is really nice, very quiet and with very beautiful views. The room is exactly as you see in the pictures, clean and comfortable. Great breakfast. But beyond that is the warm atmosphere that all Josie's family creates and shear with their guess. It is remarkable the way Josie helps people for solving any kind of problems, I think she does for everybody but especially, for her guests. For me and my son it has been a very nice week staying with them. I highly recommend this place.

  • Had a very warm Irish welcome from Josie, she was a top hostess from start to finish, The house is lovely and we were made to feel right at home from the outset, we had gone to Slane to see guns n Roses, and Josie's property is very close to slane castle where the gig was! She gave us a lift to the gig and also came to pick us up after it, which was very late, and then made us tea and supper!! She obviously has an excellent local knowledge of the area having lived there all her life. Josie was truly a super host. Breakfast was amazing, with delicious home made bread and scones, along with a full Irish. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend Josie's idyllic farmhouse to anyone. Excellent value too

    Joanne2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Whenever you want to experience the Irish heritage area in Boyden Valley, this is the place to stay. Central but quiet location and more than generous hospitality! Excellent room and bathroom. More than excellent breakfast :-)

  • A wonderful place to stay for a nearby wedding, Josie could not have possibly been any more helpful or accommodating - I would not hesitate for a second to recommend staying here if you find yourself travelling to Slane of the surrounding area.

  • The cottage was lovely. I was with two friends, and we had space to be private, and social space. It was cozy and serene! Emelia had a wonderful person named Catherine meet us. Catherine was warm, and full of information about local places and events. This was our first stop on a week-long Irish excursion, and we were blessed to have started our journey here!

  • Great little quiet cottage. Enjoyed the town in surrounding areas. We needed rest so it was perfect

    kristin2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place has potential but unfortunately it isn't being realized. We didn't receive check-in instructions until a couple of hours after the check-in time. This caused us a lot of anxiety and left our family driving around the area aimlessly until we stumbled upon the house. Compared to the value we received at other similarly priced Airbnbs in Ireland we felt that this one was overpriced. It was just a little too rustic for the price and lacked the nice touches of other places... for example... there was only half a roll of toilet paper provided (which left us improvising that evening), the soap left for us was a half used bar of soap. The description said that it had wifi, but it did not. The location was good with a nice garden and a great view of Newgrange from the backyard. But unfortunately we didn't feel like the views compensated the poor value and lack of check-in instructions. Hopefully they can get things turned around for future guests.
