We are a quiet couple looking to host respectful people. We love our home and know that visitors will love staying with us. Weather permitting the garden is small but a beautiful treasure. The animals are not allowed into the guest bedroom (unless you insist lol) Andy is a retired Police Sergeant and Lynda is a managing professional.
The house is close to all facilities. Large Asda, Next, Costa, New Look, Homebase, Boots, M&S, McDonalds (all about 1000 yards away). Also, cinema 2 miles away. And, many places to eat in Swindon
  • A very stylish room, comfy bed, fantastic local amenities and great links to major roads, coupled with great hosts and unbelievable value for money, is what everyone looks for. And Andy and Lynda provide exactly that. Thanks for a lovely stay!

  • Andy and Lynda were incredibly welcoming hosts and their home is beautiful....Albert and Charlie definitely made it feel like a home from home and are perfectly behaved 😁 I cant recommend enough, and as a single lady travelling it was wonderful to feel so secure, the location is convenient also for shops etc. Thank you both so much, I look forward to visiting again!!!

  • This is a great place to rest and relax after a hard day’s work. I highly recommend Andy & Lynda’s beautiful place!

    Gerron2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • As this was my first experience staying in an air bnb I wasn't quite sure what to expect, I was a little nervous about staying in someone else's home but with Andy & Lynda I didn't need to worry. They were so welcoming and was made to feel right at home in their home for the whole of my stay. Cleanliness, hospitality and comfort were second to none and would definitely recommend Andy & Lynda's place to anyone. If I'm ever in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to stay their again. Such a wonderful couple with a beautiful house in a stunning area.

Meadow Lodge is in the grounds of our home in Kempsford, a small village near Fairford, on the edge of the Cotswolds. The village has an historic church and a thriving pub, The George. The Thames Path National Trail passes nearby.
The Lodge is 10 metres away from our house, and completely self-contained. Just refurbished, the lodge consists of a double bedroom ( with double sofa bed in the living area if needed), a walk in shower room with toilet and sink, and a living area with dining table and kitchen area. There is a small private patio area for guests to sit outside and enjoy the natural environment. The living area has two sofas, one being a comfortable sofabed. The kitchen area has a single oven with hob and grill, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer. There is a washer-dryer available in the utility cupboard should you wish to use it.
Our property is on the edge of fields and gravel pits and has much wildlife around it. We are close to the Thames Path, the Cotswold Water Park for bird watching and water sports, and Fairford Airfield for the annual Royal International Air Tattoo in July. Being on the edge of the Cotswolds, the tourist destinations of Cirencester, Oxford, Bath and Cheltenham are within an easy drive, as is Swindon.
  • We went there as a couple. It was one of our best airbnb stays. We enjoyed every single moment at this beautiful place, which was super clean, cosy, comfortable and full of lovely little touches. Diana is a great host who also provided us homemade cookies, fresh eggs, bread and juice. We would highly recommend this place and would definitely stay again for longer.

    Damián2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived at this property we felt so very welcome and we were spoilt by kind gifts from the host of delicious homemade cookies, fresh bread and butter, eggs from the chickens and even a bottle of wine in the fridge. The guest house itself is very pretty. It is tastefully decorated throughout and in a beautiful location. All the ingredients for a very relaxing break. But the thing that really made our stay special here were all the thoughtful little touches, both in the property itself and in the excellent hospitality. We would highly recommend this guest house as the perfect country retreat to step back from life a little and recharge your batteries. We can’t wait to go back!

  • Astonishingly good. The best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. Quiet, clean, beautifully decorated, warm, comfortable, spacious... the list goes on! AND on top of that, the hosts went over and above expectations to help myself and my autistic son settle in. The most fabulous stay with fresh hen eggs, parking right outside and beautiful countryside views. We look forward to staying again in the future.

    Julia2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very high standards! An elegant and quaint cottage with beautiful villages and cities nearby! We have already booked our return, we were truly impressed!

    Sally-Anne2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Superb host! Lovely and cosy. Wish we booked another night or 2.

    Kevin2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved our stay! It was probably the most organized Airbnb I have ever been to—everything was easy to find and there were helpful labels on shelves, light switches, etc. The space is comfortable and lovely and there were so many thoughtful touches (flowers, fresh eggs, juice, jams, treats and enough interesting games, toys, coloring supplies and books to keep my young kids entertained for hours at a time). The kids also liked running around in the field and saying hi to the chickens. You can see the church tower when you are outside and hear the bells chime in the morning and evening. They did a great job making a beautiful, fun, welcoming environment—we loved the cute woodland creatures placed around as part of the decor (hedgehogs, birds, rabbits, etc.). It’s less than 10 mins to Fairford and Cirencester is less than 30 mins away. Really can’t go wrong booking this place.

    Sarah2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay at a beautiful hideaway, Diana very thoughtfully provided everything needed for our littlest visitor who absolutely adored his trip. Gorgeous little touches such as homemade lemon cake and milk and orange juice in the fridge made it all the more special.

    Nicola2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks so much to Diana and her family - we had the most wonderful time. I arrived and we had a bottle of wine, cookies, bread, tea coffee and breakfast items all waiting for us (not to mention eggs from the chickens). We borrowed the bikes and had the most stunning bike ride before heading off to bibury, rounded off with pub grub at the george. Will most certainly be returning in the summer!

This apartment is in a great location! North Swindon is beautiful, quite and central place to live. There is a Tesco express one black away. You can see it from the bedroom :) 0.7 miles away there is a really really nice Shopping Center that features various stores (Asda, New Look, Boots etc) as well as various dining options (McDonalds, Nando’s and Costa) along with a very nice gym. Swindon is a great central location with London, Reading, Bath, Bristol and Oxford being very easy to get to. Swindon offers a small town feel however there is so much to do. Old Town offers a fun night out with various pubs, clubs and bars on offer. During the day Town Center offers loads of shopping options and various museums and parks that that are fun for everyone

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

  • Beautiful property in an excellent location. The Chapel was easy to find thanks to clear instructions sent before our stay, and it was very clean and cosy, with plenty of space for eight people. The only slightly annoying thing was the shower in the annexe, which was breaking, but it was still useable so not too bad. Check in was very simple - we were even left a cake as a welcome gift. There are plenty of lovely walks nearby plus an amazing pub. We had a really wonderful weekend here. Thank you!

  • Lovely space. We were a group of eight so the size was perfect. The main bedroom and annexe are great sizes both with en suites and the other two bathrooms are still a comfortable size with a good sized family bathroom. Garden is gorgeous and would be perfect for summer, sadly the weather didn’t allow us to enjoy it. Kitchen is a great size and very practical. Local pub the Falcon is very welcoming and great food- highly recommend. Overall a fab stay.

  • We had a great stay at The Chapel, the property is stunning and the process from booking through to arriving was very easy. The space works really well for a group of 8, with both the kitchen/diner and lounge being good communal spaces. The enclosed garden was also great, especially for the dog.

  • This place is amazing to stay with your group of friends. The games room is the best part. Suzy responded to the messages quickly and the entire stay was amazing. Would highly recommend stay here and would come again later.

  • As previous reviewers have mentioned the games room is a real winner! We really appreciated being able to bring our dogs and there are great walks from the doorstep. Suzy’s willingness to help and rapid responses as host were great.

  • Lovely secluded spot with plenty of pubs and shops not too far away! Everything you’d need for a weekend away...

  • Beautiful country home set in gorgeous countryside. Came here with some friends to catch up and it was a lovely balance of relaxing and fun with the games room bringing us together before a nice relax by the fire and some country walks and pubs just down the road. Excellent amenities and very friendly and super fast communication. Check in was also really easy. Had a great weekend!

    Stevie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • A great, cozy and comfortable place to stay. Suzy was a great host who gave you privacy if you wanted it but quickly available for any questions. The house was beautiful! Spotless and clean with personal touches such as milk in the fridge and notes of the local area (pubs, cafes and local gp if needed.) The house was very spacious (we stayed with our 4 pre-teen boys and grandparents) so 6 in total but we didn't feel like we were on top of each other. The pool table was a real hit and I knew it was the place for us when I saw a pinny hanging in the kitchen! Wish we'd been able to stay longer- we would definitely recommend!

    Carly2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for a weekend away with friends. The games room was particularly good with a decent sized pool table and dart board both in great condition. All the rooms were spacious and very tidy. Would highly recommend a stay here for families or friends!

    Matt2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We were a group of 5 adults and 2 toddlers meeting up in a central location, and we couldn't have asked for more! The cottage itself is beautiful, and positioned in gorgeous grounds, surrounded by chickens, horses and sheep, much to the toddlers delights! Suzy was a fab host! The little touches were so thoughtful and made the stay extra special. There was information about the area, such as local pubs and amenities, and we were kindly permitted use of the HUGE trampoline in the garden (the kids LOVED this!) We are so very grateful, and would highly recommend staying at this cottage, and would happily return. Thank you so much.

  • I can’t thank Gemma enough for her kindness and hospitality during my stay. I booked the dolls house for a pit stop after a night shift nearby and Gemma was incredibly accommodating and the added bonus of a fabulous breakfast spread upon my return this morning was much appreciated. The room was warm and comfortable with everything I could imagine needing, lots of thoughtful touches. Thank you again :)

  • I stayed here for work purposes, and as a single female in an area I was not familiar with, I felt anxious. Gemma and her beautiful home made me feel at complete ease. Gemma is always on hand if needed however, completely respects privacy. The home itself is stunning, so quirky but beautiful. Plenty of off street parking, 10 minutes to Cirencester at peak time. Doris and Louie are just adorable. Gemma acknowledges personal preferences and very kindly put a wine glass in my room 😊 Looking forward to going back.

The Studio is a cosy single storey self-contained annexe to the owner's house in the Cotswold village of Poulton. Double bedroom, en suite shower room, fully equipped kitchen/living room with sofa bed, private courtyard garden. WiFi, underfloor heating, freesat TV, parking. Basic breakfast included. Great village pub nearby.
Bed linen and towels are provided. On-drive parking is available for two vehicles. The property is adjoined to the owner's family house, but is completely self-contained with its own access. There is space to store bicycles securely (behind a locked gate). To the rear there is a small, private courtyard garden. The property is self-catering but the cupboards are stocked with items for a basic breakfast, plus tea and coffee. The property is compact but well-equipped and newly decorated and furbished throughout. Everything is brand new and clean: the conversion was completed in January 2016. It will sleep two comfortably. There is also a double sofa bed which will sleep a further two people, but space is very limited when the sofa bed is extended, and it is a bit of a squeeze. Please also be aware that access to the toilet and shower room is through the bedroom. Babies and children of all ages are very welcome.
The village of Poulton has a shop, a well-equipped children's park, a church and a fantastic dining pub, The Falcon Inn, which is renowned for its quality food (booking for dinner, particularly at weekends, is advised, as they are often fully booked in advance). Poulton is also home to Performance Cycles (cycling club), and the area is very popular with cyclists at all levels. The village is well situated within the Cotswolds, 5 miles from Cirencester, 3 miles from Fairford, 4 miles from Bibury, and within a half-hour drive of Cheltenham, Stow-on-the-Wold, Burford, Malmesbury and Bourton-on-the-Water. Oxford, Bath and Stonehenge are all within an hour's drive. Kemble train station is 10 miles away, with the journey to London Paddington taking just under an hour and a half. Beautiful countryside is on the doorstep - just step outside and start walking! Nearby attractions include the Cotswold Wildlife Park, Cotswold Water Park (with watersports and a beach), the famous village of Bibury (described by William Wordsworth as "the most beautiful village in England") with its trout farm, Cirencester with its boutique shops, spa hotel, gastropubs and historic architecture, Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm Park, and Swindon's Steam Museum and designer shopping outlet centre. Oxford, Bath and Stonehenge are all within an hour's drive. National Trust attractions include Chedworth Roman Villa, Buscot Park and Hidcote Manor Gardens, and the fantastic Westonbirt Arboretum is also nearby. Local events include the Royal International Air Tattoo in July, the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Cheltenham Festival in March, the Cotswold Show in July, Cirencester's Phoenix Festival (family music weekend) in August, and WOMAD world music festival in July. Westonbirt Arboretum holds autumn colour events, and Colesbourne Park holds snowdrops walks in the winter.

Welcome to The Hermitage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. The Hermitage is a romantic Cotswold stone cottage, located in the large grounds of a beautiful manor house in the picturesque village of Poulton, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Although small, Poulton has a well-regarded pub and a nice park close to the cottage. The village is five miles away from the Roman town of Cirencester, the largest market town in the Cotswolds, and is also close to many other picture-postcard Cotswold villages, including Bibury, Barnsley and Eastleach, with the stunning Coln Valley just a short drive away. As well as being close to the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, Poulton is also well placed for exploring further afield places, such as Oxford, Bath, or even a day-trip into London. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Sitting in the grounds of Poulton’s lovely manor house, The Hermitage is a charming, self-contained cottage. The lovely oak front door opens into the main room, and the following rooms are in the cottage: Bedroom/living room: A stylish and inviting space with stone mullion windows and a cosy wood burning stove. This large room contains a king size bed, a dining table with four chairs, an arm chair, small sofa and a Smart TV; Kitchen: A step leads down from the living area to the well-presented kitchen, which contains an electric oven, four ring induction hob, fridge, slimline dishwasher, washing machine, toaster and kettle; Bathroom: Located off the kitchen, the bathroom contains a large walk in shower, toilet and wash basin. Directly outside the cottage, there is a private, unenclosed garden area. This includes a peaceful patio area, with a table and four chairs, plus a charcoal barbecue. There is private parking for one car directly outside the cottage.
  • The Cottage was exactly as described - beautifully clean, cosy and well-appointed. The hosts couldn’t have been more accommodating. Do not hesitate to book! We had an excellent week and would love to visit again soon.

  • We spent four nights at The Hermitage and absolutely loved it. The cottage is beautifully decorated and so cosy with a great wood burner, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. We felt really at home there. Outside there is a beautiful walled vegetable garden and a really great pub opposite which had delicious food. The whole experience was a real treat and would definitely recommend it to everyone!

Accommodation was spotless when we arrived. Very modern and interior was so lovely. Bed super comfy and log burner was a touch especially as its getting colder and colder! It made the house very cosy. The host even left a birthday cake for us as it was my birthday trip away so this was a lovely touch. We are definitely thinking about returning and experiencing the place in the summer! Definitely recommend to anyone!

The Pigsty has been lovingly converted into a double en suite room with TV, internet, tea and coffee. The room opens up onto a sunny, newly paved court yard with outdoor seating for you to enjoy. The private entrance via a locked gate means you can come and go as you please. Located in central Lechlade with the river Thames, open fields, pubs, restaurants and cafes on your door step. It's a vibrant and friendly market town with plenty to do!
Built circa 1805 this property was originally a pigsty and later converted in to the wash house for the cottage built around 1850. Now it's a quirky en suite room with handmade mahogany double glazed doors and windows, under floor heating, stone sink, remote controlled lighting and extractor fan and opens up onto a sunny court yard for you to enjoy. The room itself can be used as living room, bedroom or work space with the fold out futon and table, as illustrated in the photos. Note: due to limited space, toilet has a curtain instead of a door. Pigsty is located about 4 metres from my kitchen/back door
Lechlade a very social and friendly place. The terrace row where the Pigsty is situated is a throw back to 1940s living, with close neighbours and cups of tea over the garden fence. It's charming and you'll certainly live like a local and not a tourist.
  • Absolutely superb.

    Noel2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Isla’s Pigsty is the cutest most comfortable little space you can imagine. We wanted to get out of London to switch off and be in nature. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better location. The Pigsty is located in the centre of the picturesque village of Lechlade-on-Thames, with all amenities you could want in a few min walking distance, and on top of a local walking route that takes you along the Thames across local fields. Isla was super responsive so check-in was a breeze and she was on hand for any tips. Thanks Isla!

  • I had high expectations from the lovely pictures and listing, but it was even better in person! There were so many thoughtful touches (bird seeds for spreading, dog snacks, games, lotions, a variety of bath salts, etc.). It truly felt like home, if my home was a beyond charming 500 year-old cottage (rather than a colonial-style home in a 90s suburb). The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and I loved using the cute vanity to get ready each morning. The house was well-stocked in every area and surprisingly equipped with modern conveniences (dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, etc.) that blended pretty seamlessly. They did a great job with the design down to the smallest details (antique light switches, faucets and hardware, etc.) it was pretty easy to feel like you had been transported in time. You do need to be a little extra careful on the stairs, especially with kids, but there are decent hand rails and reminders on the wall to take them slowly. We came with two young kids and loved having a really nice playground, a library, lovely walking trails and shops just a short walk away. There is also a coffee shop a couple doors down with amazing brownies (not typically a chocolate fan) and a small farmers market on Wednesdays. Oh, and we really enjoyed lighting the fire at night (especially the first night when all we needed to do was drop a match on their perfectly prepared stack of wood and fire starters, lol). All in all, a wonderful trip. Wish we could have stayed longer!

  • Amazing place very rustic chic and cozy, went above and beyond my expectations. The village is lovely with pubs and shops near by. Only an hour from Bath and 10 mins from cotswolds so there are plenty of places to take to dogs If it's a dog holiday which it was for us. Definitely reccommend and will sure to be back.

  • Jon & Laura’s place was great! There is a living room with sofa & TV, as well as an area to make tea/coffee/snacks and a small table a chairs (there was also a kettle, toaster, microwave and small fridge). The bedroom was lovely, with an extremely comfortable bed (which is a must for me!). There is an ensuite shower room off the bedroom which was very stylish and had lovely thick fluffy towels! Communication with Laura was great and I was able to check in early as there was no one staying there the night before. The location was also very good, just a couple of minutes drive to Cotswolds Water Park. I would definitely stay here again!

  • We stayed for two nights to celebrate our anniversary and it was such a lovely weekend. Laura was very communicative throughout the whole stay but didn't intrude. There was a lovely homely feel to the annexe that made us feel relaxed almost instantly. The bed was comfy and the en suite was beautiful! There is a microwave, fridge and toaster in the annexe which is perfect for a couple of nights. It is a short drive to Cricklade where there are a few shops and restaurants. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a home away from home.

  • A very comfortable, relaxing stay in Latton at Jon and Laura's accommodation. Great hosts and great place for a retreat. Highly recommend it!

    Jon2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jon and Lauras annex is a brilliant a place to stay! From the start communicating was quick and simple, the check-in was particularly good with very clear instructions and after that I was left to come and go as I pleased. The location is great, being near to the A419 (yet far enough away!), close to the Cotswolds Water Park and some very lovely Cotswold villages. I enjoyed a run one morning along the local footpaths. The annex itself is perfect, a really fantastically equipped space, comfortable and cosy bedroom and surprisingly roomy bathroom/shower. Can’t fault it! I would return without doubt!

This building has electricity and water supply. It also has its own toilet. The cottage is located on a No Through Road and is accessed via a footpath. Very quiet and peaceful despite being just minutes walk from the town centre. Parking is on street, safe and only yards from the front door.
Lechlade and the surrounding area has so much to offer visitors. It is ideally located in the South of the Cotswolds. For the more active amongst us, there are plenty of walking trails of varying difficultly, as well as cycle routes. Lechlade is on the bank of the Thames which provides plenty of other activities such as Boat hire which can be arranged from The Trout Inn which is only about a mile on the Faringdon Road. A little way down the river towards Buscot, you will find St Johns Lock which is the first lock on the Thames. Stay here a while and watch the boats navigate through the lock. Lechlade is served by plenty of Pubs and Restaurants such as the Riverside which is located just beyond the famous Halfpenny Bridge. The local Fish & Chip shop is again just a couple of minutes walk from the cottage. There are also Chinese and Indian restaurants as well as Cafe's. If you're after a more leisurely holiday, there are grand open homes to visit such as Kelmscott Manor and Buscot House or you may choose to visit the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust for a spot of birdwatching or catching a glimpse of other wildlife. For big and small children alike, The Cotswold Wildlife Park is just 6 miles along the road to Burford. This is a fantastic dayout for all the family and is a must see whilst you are in the area. If fishing is your thing, the Lechlade Trout Fishery provides rod hire & river fishing. They are located on the edge of town on the Burford Road. There is also a broad mix of shops in the town from the renowned Christmas Shop through to Antiques. Plumtree Cottage is just a couple of minutes walk from the local Londis where you will find all of the essentials that you will need during your stay. You will also find a Butcher and Grocer a couple of minutes away. Other major centres which are within easy reach of Lechlade by car are Burford - 11 minutes, Cirencester (The Capital of the Cotswolds) - 25 minutes, Swindon - 30 minutes and Oxford - 40 minutes.

  • This is a gorgeous cottage in a fabulous location. So good with a dog to be able to walk straight from the cottage on lovely river walks. We walked twice to Quenington via different routes . Everything works really well and the kitchen is particularly good. We cooked a huge complex brunch and had all the pans and rings we needed! Bedrooms are lovely with great views and very comfy beds. The bathroom is great with a really powerful shower. And of course the hot tub which was all ready for us. We went to The Bull on the first night we were there which was nice and comfy but the food was really awful. The Indian takeaway is excellent and The Keepers Arms in Quenington is great.

    Frances2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic cottage with all the amenities you would want. Location is great with walks and town nearby. Considering Storm Dennis was in full flow throughout the weekend we made the most of all that Fairford had to offer and even had a couple of rainy hot tub sessions with the kids! Highly recommend 👍🏼

  • I have just stayed one night at Alan’s place before taking part in the cotswalds 70.3. It was my first air B and B experience and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. Alan and his wife were so friendly and made me feel right a home. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless and I felt very comfortable staying there. Alan even got up at 4 am to make me breakfast and coffee. What more can you ask for in a host. Highly recommended.

  • This is a truly wonderful B&B. Dazzlingly clean and professional but in addition hosts who are warm hearted and do everything in their power to make you feel at home. From the sumptuous breakfast with home-made bread and delicious jam, also home-made, to the fresh flowers in the bedroom I cannot praise it enough. However, above all it is the relaxed friendliness and hospitality of the hosts that make this a very special b'n'b experience.

  • A lovely property, very tastefully furnished and extremely clean. A high quality Airbnb experience. Everything has been thought of to make your stay extremely comfortable. The owner is also building a deck area overlooking the fields so you can watch the wonderful sunset over the hills. There’s also a small seating area at the side of property ideal for sitting in the afternoon sun. Private parking is also available. Lovely little touches like welcome tray with tea/coffee and biccies, an array of toiletries provided along with fluffy towels and crisp clean bedding. The kitchen has everything you need including fridge/freezer/microwave/toaster etc. Cannot day anything negative about this property. Well done to Ellie the proprietor.

  • Ellie's bungalow was a perfect place for us as we were looking to escape the city for a few days. Ellie was super accommodating and responsive even when I needed to change dates last minute. The place was spacious, clean and quiet which was everything we wanted. It had all the amenities we needed plus more. I would very much recommend Ellie's bungalow if you want a nice secluded getaway in the Cotswold. I will definitely be staying again when I am next in the area.

    Michael2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • If it were possible to give six stars for cleanliness, we would. We have stayed in dozens of AirBnB’s and this has been the cleanest by far. Spacious, open, super-comfortable, great bed, marvelous shower (stay in a long as you like!), so reasonably priced: this is a find for anyone on holiday OR doing business in the Swindon/North Wiltshire area. If we needed to stay in the area for a month, we’d be booking this bungalow. You WON’T be disappointed. Ellie was super-responsive whenever we had a question. We were sorry to leave.

    Anne2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • A very spacious, clean and cosy bungalow that's perfect as a base for any activities you may have planned! Would stay again if in the area.

Single bedroom with a single bed (suitable for 1 person) . There is a shower room, kitchen and dining room available for you - which may be shared with guests, if other bedrooms in the Barn are occupied (we also have a double bedroom and second single bedroom available; please see separate listings if you are interested). There is plenty of car parking space. We are a small holding with livestock (sheep, chicken & horses), situated on the edge of the Saxon village of Cricklade in Wiltshire.
The Barn is an independent separate building to our home. So you may enjoy your own space and privacy, with private entrance. Note, other guests may be occupying 2 further bedrooms in the Barn - so you may be required to share the shower room and kitchen.
We are half a mile outside the small historical town of Cricklade, which is the first town on the River Thames, and is within 6 miles of the Cotswold Water Park and historical Cirencester. Cricklade offers a few nice country pubs and restaurants, and a good selection of shops.

  • Lovely space, felt very homely. Zara was helpful and gave us space to relax and feel at home. I enjoyed seeing the hens roaming in the farmyard

    Noni2017-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely and welcoming place to stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable and there is a sitting room with TV, a fully equipped kitchen and a decent bathroom. Zara kindly provided breakfast items for me and the farm is in a lovely location. There are plenty of pubs and and a Tesco in Cricklade. The farm is about 10 minutes walk from the Thames Path and it was a great place to stay before the final day of my Thames Path walk from London to the Source. Highly recommended!

    Sarah2017-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, secluded, separate and well worth the money! Definitely would book again!

    Jeff2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, comfortable, welcoming space and hosts. I arrived on foot was glad to find the path through Dance Common as an easy connection between town centre and the farm. Zara provides a comfortable place to sit and eat, read, write, watch to. And, the well stocked kitchen has a counter with stools by a window with a view to the amazing sky and the farmyard. Oh, yes, my single room was perfectly sized with window and fine bed for a good sleep.

    Carolyn2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Brilliant price, great facilities and Cricklade is a lovely town. Whilst I was staying Zara was installing wifi. But there's plenty of places to get wifi in town if you really need it. If you're looking for somewhere cheap and lovely to stay I would definitely recommend here :)

Beautiful 18th-century Beehive Cottage, in the Cotswold village of Poulton, sleeps 6 guests across one king-size, one double and one twin bedroom. The cottage has a very well- equipped kitchen, a spacious living room with an inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove, a separate Snug with a work area, a spacious family bathroom with a bath and a downstairs shower room/utility. Outside is a large, pretty garden and off-street parking for two cars, with free on street parking readily available.
Introduction As you pull onto the gravelled drive at Beehive Cottage, in the village of Poulton, you’ll immediately feel a sense of serenity as the history and beauty of the cottage greets you. It is an archetypal Cotswold property, built in the 1760’s with Victorian additions – the type of home you see featured in property magazines and wish you could stay! The owner has renovated Beehive Cottage very sympathetically, maintaining the traditional character of the cottage yet providing every modern convenience with a contemporary but stunning interior design – including richly pigmented, eco-friendly Farrow & Ball paints - plus everything you need for a thoroughly pampered, self-catered Cotswold holiday. Beehive Cottage’s front door is framed by wisteria and passionflower, with thick swathes of lavender in the garden’s raised beds, attracting butterflies and bees in the summertime. French doors open from the Kitchen-Dining area to an outdoor seating area, which wraps round the cottage to further seating and a barbecue. Steps leads up to a lawn, with mature planting, and a second large table, where you can sit and enjoy the last rays of evening sunshine looking back towards the cottage. The traditional character of Beehive Cottage, including a stunning inglenook fireplace (with a secret stone staircase behind winding up to Bedroom 3), original oak beams and exposed Cotswold stone walls combines fabulously with the carefully chosen modern amenities, including a fully equipped kitchen with 6-ring hob, a shower/utility room, a family bathroom, WiFi, a Smart TV, Bose speaker, a Snug with work area (for guests who have to check in to the office) and exquisite, decorations throughout the cottage that have been hand-painted by the owner. Poulton is a small but thriving Cotswold village with a traditional British pub, The Falcon Inn, serving British modern food, and featuring locally brewed cask ales. The village has a church (St Michael’s and All Angels) and a children's playground and playing field, called ‘Englands’, directly across the lane from the cottage. A traditional summer fete is held each year on the first Sunday after the August Bank Holiday. Two sofas and an armchair provide comfy seating for six guests to watch the Smart TV and enjoy the wood burning stove, while a window seat is the perfect place to perch and read a book. During renovation work, a stone stairway was unearthed behind the fireplace, leading up to the twin bedroom; providing a fascinating glimpse into the cottage’s past. (Although the staircase is open, the owners do not recommend using it as it is steep, narrow and uneven. A lock is provided on the twin bedroom door to prevent younger guests in that bedroom from using the staircase.) The cottage’s main staircase leads up from the Living Room to the three bedrooms and Family Bathroom Turn left down two stone steps to: The Snug-Study A delightful room between the kitchen and Living Room featuring flagstone flooring with a cosy, richly coloured rug, a desk (with pens, paper and colouring pencils), an antique glass-fronted bookcase with novels and local guides, and a two-seater leather sofa and an armchair with a footstool, perfectly placed to watch a meal being prepared or relax in the quiet of the Snug. Guests are provided with a starter supply of essentials, including teabags, Nespresso pods, instant coffee, fresh milk, oils, salt and pepper and cooking condiments. The large dining table comfortably seats six guests. Off the Living Room: Shower Room/Utility Through a door off the Living Room is the handy downstairs Shower Room/Utility with a walk-in corner shower (with hand-held and overhead shower), toilet, wash basin and heated towel radiator. The cottage’s Hotpoint washing machine is in this room, along with an outdoor and indoor airer for drying clothes, an iron and ironing board. Upstairs Stairs up from the Living Room lead to the carpeted landing and the cottage’s three bedrooms: Bedroom Three The first bedroom at the top of the stairs is the pretty twin bedroom, with exposed oak eaves, charming artwork, two single beds and a day sofa, all carefully arranged to provide plenty of room to walk around. The bedroom is furnished with bedside chests and lamps, a corner hanging rail, and a lovely window seat overlooking the garden’s outdoor seating area. A door at the back of the room opens to the steep, secret staircase down to the Living Room. This door can be bolted to stop young children using it. Bedroom Two Cross the landing to Beehive’s king-size bedroom, with its soft-yellow walls and accents of pink and red. Guests can watch the world go by, sitting in the window seat while reading a book from the wide selection of novels from the bedroom’s bookcase. The room is furnished with a sink-in KING bed, half-height wardrobe, a bedside chest of drawers with a reading light, and an impressive mirror. Hairdryer in drawer. Bedroom One At the end of the landing, up two stairs, is the master bedroom, affectionately known by the owner as the Butterfly Room, which features a sink-in, double-size bed and walls decorated with beautifully hand-painted butterflies. The room is furnished with a handsome, cherry wood chest of drawers and dressing table, bedside tables with reading lamps and a hanging rail with a shoe rack. With windows on three sides, overlooking the garden and the road below, the master bedroom is bright and light, but has exquisite hand-made, heavy curtains and a blind to ensure a really good night’s sleep. Family Bathroom Located next to Bedroom One, the Family Bathroom is practical yet exudes relaxation at the same time, with its painted wooden floor, half-panelled soft-grey walls and an intricately hand-painted partridge, complimented by a series of antique birds’ egg paintings. The bathroom features a full-length bath, with luxury bubble bath provided, a toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. Outside Beehive Cottage has a charming garden with a lawn and a gravelled area with seating and parking for two cars. Wisteria and passionflower frame the front door and climb up to the bedroom windows, while in the summertime lavender blooms fill the air with their scent, attracting bees, butterflies and birds. Step through the French doors in the Kitchen to the outdoor seating area, with its oblong-shaped table, seating for eight and charcoal barbecue. Beyond the parking area, up a few steps, is an immaculate lawn with raised beds and an original beehive – no longer in use!

  • The perfect place for a cosy weekend getaway. Beehive Cottage is beautiful and none of us wanted to leave! It’s warm and inviting and the personal touches meant such a lot. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you could need, the sitting room is cosy with a lovely wood burner which is easy to use. The whole house is beautifully furnished and is a quintessential Cotswold cottage! My friends and I had the perfect weekend away and we will certainly come back to beautiful Beehive. Thank you so much!!

  • A lovely cottage in quiet village, ideal for family get away where you cater for yourselves. Nice inn nearby for good food at reasonable prices. Cottage is well furnished and cosy and log burner provides idyllic homely feel. Only drawback was draft through doors and not all doors to rooms close fully, which does lend itself to a spooky feel when they open when you're trying to sleep!

  • What a fabulous cottage Beehive is. My friends and I had the most perfect stay made all the more wonderful by the well stocked kitchen, the lovely welcoming touches, the comfy beds and sofas and the roaring fire. The cottage has been renovated beautifully and it was a pleasure to stay in. We can HIGHLY recommend eating at The Falcon Inn next door (make sure you book). The little village of Bibury is a short drive away and well worth a visit. A couple of tips for the house - bring slippers as the stone floors are cold, and the complimentary logs last 1 evening and there is nowhere local to buy more once you’ve had a glass of wine or two! So bring wood with you or buy some along the way so you have plenty. We will most definitely be back :)

    Hannah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, cosy, well-stocked cottage - the perfect retreat for 3 couples and a baby. We loved all the features, allowing for long meals and games in front of the fire. The house was sparkling clean throughout and the beds were very comfortable. The attention to detail was second to none - and the hand painted decoration is stunning. We also loved the home baked cake for our arrival, much needed after a long drive! Thank you so much.

Sally left thoughtful extras for us, including milk and hot chocolate, which was much appreciated when we arrived in the cold rain! Lark Rise III is a 50 foot narrowboat offered as static accommodation moored in the quiet surroundings of Lechlade Marina*. She boasts free parking on site, views of the river, and a multi-fuel stove. Lechlade borders Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire making it an excellent choice to explore all three counties. Shops, pubs, restaurants, and supermarkets are within walking distance, and walks, cycle routes, fishing and boating are on the doorstep. A perfect getaway to suit many tastes.
Although built in the 1980’s, Lark Rise III displays all the charm of an old narrowboat including handcrafted furnishings and items decorated with traditional canal art. This small yet cosy space is ideal for a couples’ getaway. South East facing, ensures that the boat gets lots of light during the day, and being centrally heated is a good choice for a quiet retreat all year round*. She is offered as static narrowboat accommodation for up to 3 people. Living/Dining area The living area is in the bow of the boat (the entrance to the boat) It has a large sofa bed (for a third person) and a multi-fuel stove to keep you warm and toasty in wintertime. The stove also serves two radiators, one in the galley and the other in the bedroom, so the boat stays warm throughout. We supply sufficient wood for the duration of your stay, and enough coal to keep the stove in for each night of your stay**. We give you full instructions on how to use it the stove. The dining area is adjacent to the galley and contains a folding leaf table that can seat up to 3 people. A table cloth is also provided along with drinks coasters. The table is also useful for working at or to play some of our board games that are provided. The galley The galley is in the centre of the boat and is furnished with a gas oven and grill with a four ring gas hob. There is a small square sink with drainer. The galley contains work surfaces and cupboards. There is one cupboard free for you to place food items along with an undercounter fridge with a small freezer section at the top. The galley comes equipped with: • Frying pan • Saucepans • Glass tumblers, beer glasses & pewter tankards • Cutlery • Cooking utensils • Electric kettle and hob kettle • Toaster • Mugs • Melamine dinner plates, side plates and bowls • Baking trays & roasting tin • Hand towel & tea towel The Shower room Next to the bedroom is a small shower room. This has recently been renovated and has a basic shower with shower curtain and also has a chemical cassette toilet on board (this is cleaned and sanitised by us at the end of your stay, or at intervals if you are staying more than a few days). The following items are provided for you: • Hand soap • hair and body wash • toilet rolls • bath towels, hand towels and flannels. You can also have the option to access standard power showers and toilets in the marina’s shower rooms. We would need a £30 deposit for this option payable on arrival that will be returned to you on the safe return of the keys at the end of your stay. The Bedroom The cabin style bedroom has a 4 foot small double bed and is located in the stern of the boat. The room has windows either side, one looking over the marina and the other over the grass seating area outside. It has a small wardrobe with shelf and hanging space for 3 people people. There is also a hair dryer kept inside the wardrobe. There is also storage under the bed for your luggage bags. Outdoor space In addition to the boat we also have outdoor spaces both have views across the Thames and over the rest of the marina. The first is a small seating area on the bow of the boat, very useful in the summer months to sit and drink coffee. Off the boat there is a grass area. In the summer we provide a table and chairs for you to eat al fresco or to watch the sunset with your favourite tipple. We also have outdoor games, such as Pétanque, giant dominos and quoits. There is always plenty of wildlife around too, and we regularly see geese, swans, and kingfishers, just to name a few. If you are looking for a quiet romantic getaway with evenings snuggled up in front of the fire, or a unique stay with good friends, or just as a base to explore the countryside we may just be what you are looking for. * Potential for noise: Lechlade Music Festival is held every year over the last bank holiday in May. The festival is held in the fields opposite the boat. The music can be quite loud and can be heard on the marina. Please bear this in mind when booking. Lechlade, as the crow flies, is also very close to the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) held in Fairford in mid July. You may relish the thought of watching the air displays overhead, but again they can be noisy. We suggest that if you are considering booking with us around those times, and you would like a quiet stay, that you contact us to find out the exact dates for those events. **Extra coal may be purchased from us, see the house rules for details.
Lechlade is a lovely Cotswold stone market town that has a great community feel to it. We have plenty of things to see and do for everyone within Lechlade and the surrounding area. If you love the water, then there are plenty of activities in and around the area from boats, to river walks. Why not walk down to St John's lock and watch the boats coming up or downstream. Gloucestershire and the surrounding counties are steeped in history, and we are close to some wonderful churches, historic houses and monuments. The Roman town of Cirencester, the city of Oxford, and Cheltenham Spa are within 30 miles of the marina. In addition, there are many other old Cotswold towns and villages to visit. If you are an avid Christmas market goer, then there are several within reach from Lechlade. The Christmas markets at Cirencester, Cheltenham, Gloucester Quays, Oxford, and Blenheim Palace are all within a 1 hour driving distance from Lechlade. Bath Christmas market is slightly further afield at 1hr 30 minutes, it is quite a large market and well worth the visit as a day trip. In December many places in the Cotswolds have an evening of celebrations with a Christmas lights turn on, including Lechlade. See the 'Christmas in Lechlade' guidebook for more details about staying on our boat during the festive season.. Earlier in the year we are ideally placed for both the Lechlade Music Festival and Troutfest, the IAT Fairford Air Tattoo and slightly further afield, Cheltenham Festival and the New Years Day races also at Cheltenham. Later in the year it is not far to the Music and Fireworks held at the Defence Academy Shrivenham, we are close to Fairford and Faringdon fireworks displays.
  • Amazing experience. It was our first time staying on the boat and it exceeded our expectations. The boat is in a great location in the heart of a lovely village. Lots of nice pubs nearby and beautiful walks. Sarah and Martin are superb hosts. They made sure we had everything we need and more. The boat is very cosy and even better in real life than in photos. Will definitely come back again!

  • A truly unique and wonderful stay, the boat was really cosy and warm even in Feb! Loved the decoration which made the boat even more lovely, it was also very clean which I am sure is not easy to do when on a boat! Plenty of storage space in the kitchen and bedroom. The location is great, only 2 mins walk into town where there are nice pubs and shops, also lots of great walking routes around the area. Martin is a great host and met us with wellies as it was very muddy! Thanks for the lovely welcome pack and a great stay!

  • My husband and I had an absolute blast during our stay on the LarkRise III. The weather was really really wet so the area did flood but to be honest, we had a pretty fun time with it. We went to stay as a way of experiencing narrow boat life as we are thinking of living on a boat ourselves, and after our experience we think we might go for it! Martin and Sarah are wonderful hosts. They were both super helpful and responsive, they even lent me a pair of much needed wellies without me even needing to ask! Martin was very lovely and gave us lots of tips regarding local walks and what narrow boat living was actually like. He also saved me from sinking in the mud and disappearing forever! The boat itself is wonderful. Very cozy and homey thanks to all the personal touches such as the scented oil burning on the stove and the handmade sun catchers in the windows. It was very clean and well presented and Martin did a superb job of showing us around. All in all, we both loved it and would definitely go back for another visit. The boat is lovely, but Martin and Sarah made it extra special by being such wonderful hosts.

  • We had a great time staying on the narrow boat despite storm Ciara's best attempts. The boat is great and it's just as nice as we were imagining..the stove fire on the boat was such a nice touch and we had somewhere good to eat out both nights..we'd go again!

  • Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Sarah and Martin are super hosts which along with their boat is airbnb at its very best. We are so lucky that places like this are on the market. Absolutely fabulous help provided during difficult weather conditions. A really lovely, cosy, quaint, full of charm and character place that makes a trip to the Cotswolds extra special. Feels like a historic cottage but floating on the water. Just so relaxing sitting on the sofa at night by the lovely warm wood burner admiring the interesting nautical ornaments that decorate the boat. Just a short stroll up the road for everything you need (groceries, cafes, pubs, nice antique shops etc). So sad for us that we live in Australia as it will be a while before we could visit again. This place is a keeper. Helen & John

  • From arrival, through to our adventure end (4 nights), Martin and Sarah were so friendly and sweet, always making sure we were okay, and everything on the narrow boat was trouble free. Plenty of wood and coal for the much needed wood burner with back boiler for the rads (It was January!) Local recommendations were forthcoming and the New Inn does serve great food. All in all, it was a nice alternative trip away, always wanted to try the narrow boat experience, and it did not disappoint. Great hosts, great boat, great experience, we thoroughly recommend!! Thank you Martin & Sarah 😍

  • Cosy and warm and the staff were very friendly. Unfortunately I didn't sleep well as it's next to a busy road, the bed loudly creaks with every movement and the walls are very thin. The resident dog barked in the hall outside the room at 6:30am waking us up. But besides that it was a nice place, I would recommend for sure if you're a heavy sleeper and they left out a really nice breakfast with crossaints, cereals and yogurts.
