Our beautiful Island Style home in Heavenly Hana Hawaii is three hundred yards to a magical ocean pool and a one mile coastal walk to a magnificent beach. The house is open to nature, is fully screened, has hammocks and an ocean view. We have an outdoor shower as well as a nice indoor shower and tub. The garden is full of tropical fruits, flowers and trees.
In addition to the home, the grounds are a small botanical garden. We have almost twenty varieties of Palm, eight varieties of Bamboo, passion fruit, coconut, bananas, papaya, mango, avocado, ginger, turmeric, hibiscus, and cacao, and a seasonal vegetable garden.
  • Albert's directions to the house could not have been easier and more precise. He stopped by soon after we arrived to see if there was anything he could do. He gave us suggestions for the things we wanted to see and do. The house was as described in a quiet area across from Waioka Pond, which is a beautiful spot to get in the water. The welcome gift of star fruit, avocados and banana bread was a nice touch. We will be back !

    Todd2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful bungalow in the jungle. Albert graciously met us upon arrival and oriented us complete with some avocados and bananas. We loved our brief stay in beautiful Hana and this little home was a great place for R&R during our time and away from the rain.

    Amanda & Wolf2017-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our time here. It was very relaxing and everything we were hoping for. I would definitely stay here again the next time we are in Hana!

    Stephanie2017-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Albert did not respond to any of our messages or calls as early as 2 days before our booking date. The GPS coordinates on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps takes you to a completely different address and the pin on Apple maps takes you to a waterfall that is still a 20 minute drive away from the house. The only way we found the house was by asking locals. We also had no instruction for arrival and were were never given the code for the key box so the only way we were able to have a place to sleep at night was by "creatively entering" the house. Other than that unpleasant and stressful experience, the house was nice and clean. Everything was prepared for (except arrival) and the location is nice. We enjoyed relaxing in the hammocks and walking across the street to Venus Pools for cliff diving.

    Jenny2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • This house takes advantage of the lovely air, sound of the faraway surf, breezes, and sunshine. There is nothing fancy about it, but comfortable and homey. We loved the outdoor shower.

    Frances2017-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Albert's place was just as described! It was located exactly across the street from the Venus Pools, which in my opinion is one of Hana's most impressive swimming holes. The place is modest and great for those ready to experience the "real" Hawaii, complete with geckos and coconuts! As some have mentioned, the nooks and crannies were not immaculate, however the surfaces and linens were fresh. I didn't have any problems and would happily stay here again! Though there were enough beds for the 5 of us, it is not a huge house so you'd better be friendly with whomever you share the space!

    Mari2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house is comfortable, cute and outdoorsy beachy jungle feeling. We had rainstorms both nights and enjoyed lounging inside and reading and listening to the storm through the screened in windows. It's about a 10 minute drive from Hana and close to all the beaches and walking distance to Venus Pool. Albert is great, thoughtful and super friendly. I highly recommend this place!

    Kristine2017-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This home has a perfect location for relaxation and a true island feel. Perfect for not rushing the road to Hana. Everything was clean and stocked with the basics. Albert was very helpful and a perfect host. I would definitely stay here again. Tip: stock up on groceries prior leaving Kahului.

    GATEHOUSE
Located in the desirable Gold Coast neighborhood of Hāna, this charming, sunny, art filled hill-top residence features 180-degree views of the ocean just across the street. Easy access to popular local beaches, attractions and Hāna Town.
Attractively furnished, this light filled, airy space features commanding views of the ocean and coastline just across the street. Eclectic artwork lines the walls throughout, and a fully equipped kitchen with gas range & oven welcomes your culinary skills. Source locally caught fish and farm fresh local produce and get creative! When night falls slip into the extremely comfortable King-Size bed and let the sounds of ocean lull you to sleep, then wake to a view of the sunrise over the ocean from between the sheets. If you feel the need to stay connected to the outside world (though why would you?), wireless internet and digital cable TV is included.
We are located in the Kaawaloa "ahupua'a" (district) of Hāna, 5 miles south of Hāna Town. Our long stretch of road sets just above the coastline, so most home in our neighborhood is blessed with stunning ocean views. The area is made up of long time local families along with many residents originally from all over the U.S. mainland. We are a tight-knit neighborhood where everyone watches out for each other and shares their Aloha freely and abundantly. We are surrounded by incredible nature, and early morning or sunset walks through the area can be exhilarating. Nights are dark and quiet, with star-filled skies and brightly lit full moons. You may not want to leave!
  • This space is wonderful. Tom Is great. Don't wait - book it!

    Cynthia2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Toms place very much. It was very quiet except for the sounds of nature (birds etc) that was very soothing, we kept all of the windows open and there was plenty of space for the both of us. It was Comfortable and the bathtub was divine! Loved being barefoot on the wood floors. Would have loved to cook a meal in the kitchen but our stay wasn't long enough. We stopped at Whole Foods before we ventured the Hana Highway and grabbed a few things so we had plenty of food for our stay. The fish tacos that we had on the way, right before Hana town were great! Its the fish taco stand situated by a coffee place, place to buy trinkets, fish and chips and Thai food truck, and an eclectic gentleman selling coconut candy. We took our time on the Hana Highway and stopped alot!! to see the sights and check out the waterfalls. We picked up ono Mac nut banana bread and had a cold brew coffee with a scoop of ice cream (my new fave) on the way. Everything closes early in Hana. Our stay concluded with a hike on the Pipiwai trail at Oheo Gulch (seven sacred pools) it was a wonderful thing that we had a very nice place to rest and at no time did we feel rushed like our day to day in California. Tom's house is a very nice place to stay in Hana.

  • Place was amazing!!!

    Justin2016-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Hana Cottage was a perfect location for exploring the east side of Maui. The views are amazing and the space was great. It's a short drive from the town of Hana and Hamoa Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches we've ever been to. Tom provided excellent information and directions. Make sure you arrive in the daylight your first time since it's quite remote and could be tricky in the dark.

    Danielle2015-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Hana was amazing. Tom's cottage is well-equipped for a cozy stay and is convenient to all Hana has to offer. We will be back.

    Jenna2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I really enjoyed staying at Tom's cottage in Hana! Let me paint the picture for you a bit. The Hana Highway is amazing, beautiful, and as magical as you hear, but it is also an exhausting and often times white-knuckle drive around blind one lane hairpin turns. We rolled into Hana later than expected and it was dark by the time we emerged back into civilization. We really needed peace, quiet, and tranquility to relax our wound up driving nerves. Tom's place provided the perfect sanctuary to rest and rejuvenate. Tom gave us great instructions on how to get there and how to get in so we didn't have to worry about checking in at a bad time or anything. Tom stopped by later to say Hi and make sure we had everything we needed. The kitchen is amazing and stocked the way a professional cook would stock a kitchen, and the windows in the bedroom give a view of the ocean, from bed, which is an amazing way to wake up. The cottage has everything a couple or small family would need for an amazing stay in Hana. We can't wait to come back!

    Keith2015-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Tom's place was exactly as described and as shown in the pictures - spacious, well-equipped, and a fantastic view of the water. After already having spent a week in Hawaii at a resort, it was nice to have access to a full kitchen and a washer/dryer. The location is great for exploring the Road to Hana...we are so happy we decided to spend a couple nights here instead of trying to do the Road in one day. Staying at Tom's was by far the most relaxing part of our trip!

    Laura2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed both the cottage and the area very much. The cottage has a nice deck for relaxing or eating with a panoramic ocean view, a comfy bed, open spaces and a well stocked kitchen. The cottage was very clean when we arrived and check in was easy. Several nice beaches, hikes and waterfalls are close by. Evening dining options are limited and we enjoyed the cottage so much we cooked at home two of our nights. We would highly recommend the Hana Cottage.

Relax in the fully equipped 1 bedroom cottage with a full kitchen, living room, dining area, washer/dryer, outdoor shower, and a covered deck with views of the ocean and mountain. $209/night (includes the taxes), maximum 2 guests.
*Two night minimum stay, although we will book a one-night reservation if there is one night open between the reserved dates of other guests. Our home is located in the rural town of Hana, on the East side of Maui. There are beautiful beaches nearby, including Hana Bay, a 10 minute walk away, and Hamoa Beach, a 10 minute drive down the road, consistently named one of the most beautiful beaches in America, where we like to spend our time surfing, swimming with the kids, and lounging under the shady trees. Lots of hiking to see waterfalls and swimming in fresh water pools, including Oheo (Seven Sacred Pools) that is part of the U.S. National Park Service and Waianapanapa State Park that has a cool volcanic grotto you can swim in, a black sand beach, and a blow hole along the coastline. Or just relax on the covered deck, play some cards, board games, read a book, or enjoy a movie or two via the wireless internet on your computer or tablet. There are many mom and pop places to eat, including a bright orange burrito food truck right in town with great burritos, coffee and pastries that is owned/operated by Andy and Tuna, a brick oven pizza place, Thai food stop, other 'plate lunch' stops, and fresh organic fruit and veggie stands where much of the food is grown organically right here in Hana. There are two main general stores in town to get most of your basic necessities. If you want a large variety of food to choose from though it may be wise to get some provisions from the main part of the island before you head out to Hana. Our favorite food store on the island is Mana Foods, in the town of Pa'ia on the North Shore, where they're loaded with fresh, natural and organic grocery shopping, a deli, bakery and vitamin room. Although, we also frequent Hasegawa's General Store and the Hana Ranch Store in town during our stays. The road out to Hana itself is half the treat, with dramatic scenery of the cliff-lined coastline, a couple of fruit stands (including a mobile creperie along the road in the jungle as you begin your journey!), and lots of hikes from trail heads off the road. As with any adventuring please be cautious and aware of your surroundings and weather conditions while enjoying the outdoors. A tip for the drive out to Hana, pack a lunch with snacks and drinks, don't rush it, and pull over for faster drivers if they come up behind you. There are many pull-out spots, the drivers behind you will appreciate it, and you can relax and really soak in the beauty. There is one gas station in Hana town, and none along the 2-hour drive from the main towns on the other side of the island, so fill up before you get here. Hana is a tropical paradise, which means it has little critters like mosquitoes or ants at times, and don't be surprised by the odd chicken or two, mongoose, (cows, there's a beautiful working cattle ranch) or other wildlife in an around Hana town and the East side of the island. Our home is usually nice and breezy, and we have quarterly treatments of the outside and inside of the home with natural repellents, so there should be little activity of small critters, however, closing screen doors and cleaning up food after eating is always a good idea. We have some mosquito repellent there if you need it, just in case. And if you have any problems please let us know. Our location is very convenient to the beaches, sites and stops in Hana, with great views, and as can be seen from the photos and mapping, we are in a residential setting. There can be some typical neighborhood activity including traffic on Hana highway, neighboring pets / dogs occasionally barking or local chickens that roam freely. We have a large redwood fence along the rural road and plantings around the property to make you feel tucked away. Feel free to get in touch with me to answer any questions you may have. The 1br/1ba rental rate is $209 US/night (which includes the state taxes of 14.27%), and a one-time cleaning fee of $45. You can reserve yourself online if you like. Maximum number of guests is 2. We hope you enjoy your stay!!! The property is owned and co-managed by Brook Y. Starr, a Hawaii licensed realtor. Maui County Vacation Rental Permit: STRH (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) State Taxes ID: W(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) (General Excise Tax and Transient Accommodations Tax)
  • My 15 year old daughter and I did the drive to Hana and stayed two nights. What a sweet cottage with views of the bay and covered porch. We ate Thai takeout ( Check them out on trip advisor.) on the covered porch. It is really clean and the communication was great. We slept with the windows open and enjoyed the tropical air. There is an air conditioner in the bedroom and you may want to consider using it- the neighbor has three dogs that start barking way before dawn. For coffee drinkers- bring your own supplies. I can't move in the morning without a cup and had to go to local store store for a styrofoam cup full everyday. I would definitely stay again if I ever get chance to go back.

  • Amazing and professional AirBnB experience! Brook's home is exactly what we were looking for - a modern, recently updated home with some privacy. Brook's communication was superb and she made every effort to make sure our stay was perfect! Would totally recommend for anyone looking for a place to stay in Hana.

  • This place was great! It was our favorite AirBNB experience of this trip. The unit is accurately depicted in the description. Located right off the Hana Highway, it was a great place to relax for a couple days after traveling the Road to Hana. The views and outdoor shower really make this modern ohana unit a gem. We would love to return to this magical place someday. This cottage in Hana will always get our highest of recommendations.

The location was perfect so we were able to spend time doing everything we wanted in Hana at our own pace-rather than driving there and back in one day Ave squeezing in lots of stops like a lot of people do.

Just beyond sleepy Hana Town... this property is tucked in amongst lush ferns, banana trees, bamboo, colorful heliconias, fragrant ginger, papaya, century old trees, and manicured gardens. Enjoy sea views from each verandah. Listen to only the sounds of the birds, the geckos chirping, and the stones rolling in the surf at night.
The bungalow has an open air seating area on the ground level and 2 flights of stairs to get into the enclosed living area upstairs. There is a full kitchen, king size bed, 2 person jacuzzi tub with shower on the screened in porch, wifi, cable TV and DVD, ceiling fans, and ocean view through the trees. There is also a wonderful private lava rock shower in the garden below the bungalow.
We are close to Hamoa Beach, one of the most magnificent and famous beaches on Maui. Also, only 2 miles from the center of Hana Town.
  • Robin's Bungalow is a romantic and cozy place that is very close to town (and all of their delicious plate lunches) and gave very easy access to Hamoa Beach. The place is very private and is surrounded by the lush rainforest. We really loved the outdoor shower, hanging out in the downstairs lounge and the beautiful view of the water from the lanai. If you are looking to get away from crowds and to experience Hana's relaxed island vibe, we highly recommend staying at this Bungalow.

  • Everything about this place was heavenly! From checking in to walking down to the beach each day, Sandi made sure that there was nothing left to be desired! She even picked some bananas and brought them to us! The property was so clean and the cottage was absolutely perfect. I could not have found a better place to spend Memorial Day weekend in the tranquil and idyllic setting of Hana. It was private, spacious, and absolutely terrible to have to leave!!! I will definitely be back and recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful and peaceful place to stay in Hana!

  • The best place in Hana. Absolutely beautiful home, property, and location. Sandi and Dan have created a sanctuary for rest and a true Maui experience. They're experienced and welcoming hosts that made easy for us to relax. The bungalow is filled with craftsmanship details, Hawaiian art and furniture along with an INCREDIBLE view of Hamoa beach. Walk out your door and explore tidepools, take a swim at the beach then stroll down the road for an authentic Hawaiian lunch at Hui Hui BBQ. You can't go wrong here.

The place was spotless and very comfortable. The location is fantastic. The house is just a couple minute walk from beautiful Hamoa Beach. The neighborhood is quiet and the night skies were brilliant with stars.

  • A really nice, clean spacious home. Perfect for a stay after the drive from Hana.

    Lucy2014-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is awesome, so relaxing and quiet. The kitchen is very well stocked and the bathroom is great. The bed is a little soft for our taste but still comfortable. We spent lots of time just hanging out there. Hamoa Beach is a few minutes walk away and it is fantastic. Check out the fish pond in the other direction. Heavenly Hana makes an awesome base to explore the Hana area from. Don't just book one night, stay at least two, we were there four nights and we will stay there again when we return to Hana in the future.

  • The location is perfect, right between two amazing beaches. This was the perfect place to spend a night after a long day on the road, wish we stayed longer!

    Scott2016-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed the stay in Heavenly Hamoa. Directions were accurate and very good information about dining and opening hours were given. The cottage is close to the beach and was arranged charmingly. All necessary equipment was available. Some minor points to improve: many of the moscito nets had holes, but we found in every room a window with intact moscito net. The extra bed was not made up, when we arrived and we had to search for the linens, but found everything alright.

    Christian2016-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Communication and question response were efficient. The cottage was quiet, clean and very peaceful. Definitely a different and more rustic setting than the Maui for tourists. An incredibly beautiful retreat.

  • Susie is a great host - she communicated well. The house itself is in a beautiful location with two beautiful beaches walking distance away. Hamoa Beach was our favorite. The house has a beautiful backyard, perfect for watching the sunrise. The house is in a secluded location so don't rely on cell service because it is very limited; however, the house does offer wifi to accommodate. The house is in a remote location so the area gets dark and quiet, which may not be ideal for those who are not used to remote areas, but perfect for those who enjoy nature and all it has to offer. Plenty of restaurants nearby, but definitely stop at Costco in Kahului and stock up before arriving. The house has a fully stocked kitchen so cooking is not an issue.

  • Beautiful views out the floor to ceiling windows. Waves crashing while you sleep. Close to beaches. Local grown food. Restaurants close by. A tough drive but worth it.

  • What a beautiful location!!! This property is sandwiched between Koki Beach and Hamoa Beach. It is well landscaped and sits very close to the ocean. It is very clean and spacious. This was a our favorite stay! Thanks!

  • Our staying at Hamoa Beach house has been memorable. The house is ON the ocean and has an atmosphere that you won't forget. It's a charming colonial architecture, with great interior spaces and an amazing garden. We can recommend the place and Susie as a great guest, able to solve any issue in minutes, very attentive and responsible. Thanks for everything!

  • we loved the house and the garden - you hear and see the waves crushing in (you better bring your earplugs), we harvested delicious coconuts from the garden, a hammock with view to the sea ... amazing!

Kolea, timber built in 2003, spacious, well equipped and convenient for Hana, is surrounded by lawn carved out of the forest on our 11-acre estate bursting with flowers and fruit trees.
Our guests adore this home and write scores of lovely recommendations in our guest book. Some spend only a night, but Hana deserves longer. Two bedrooms, one with a queen, the other with twins, and a fifth bed in the large living room. With a generous lanai, 1,200 sq ft in all. All the equipment you'd expect.
Kolea has an ocean view from about a mile and 400 feet up the lower slope of Haleakala. Our road is a rural cul-de-sac with very little traffic. Hana's six beaches are between 5 and 15 minutes, and its two small stores about ten minutes away.
  • The cottage was wonderful and just what we were looking for. It had everything we needed, and Andrew's suggestions for what to do and where to eat in Hana were very helpful. The grounds are beautiful and the sounds of rain and geckos at night were nice and soothing! Just be careful when driving in- the driveway scraped the bottom of our car on the drive in and out. But overall, a fabulous experience!

    Katie2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was wonderful. Peaceful, secluded, quick drive into town. Andrew and his wife were wonderful hosts. They showed us around the grounds and gave us some delicious fruit the day we arrived. Fun, hippie pizza place right down the road of you want a quick dinner.

    Kyle2016-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a spectacular getaway! The yurt was well-equipped and made for the perfect base to go explore beaches, mountains and the splendor of the area. Do not stay here if you are looking for nightlife. Great to experiencing the "real Maui".

    Brooke2017-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • The place has an amazing backyard filled with flowers, plants, birds, fruits and views of the ocean and is in close proximity to Hana, so it's a perfect stop for a 2 day "road to Hana" trip. I strongly recommend the GyPSy app for iPhone, an offline (no data) GPS guided tour which takes you to incredible places and tells the story of Hana. However the cottage being in such a remote location, without cell coverage (no ATT nor Tmobile), we had some trouble finding the place by failing to read Andrew's instructions, so read them carefully BEFORE you get out there! The place was fully equipped and clean (albeit a little dusty under couches, glass tables and beds). Being this close to the rainforest, it comes with bugs like ants, spiders, geckos and unfortunately cockroaches. We killed a couple smaller black ones every day, a minor disturbance, they aren't that aggressive. However there is a huge (4 inch) brown one that starts flying around the cottage at 10pm. That guy scared the hell out of us every time, I understand it's hard to keep these out, but it definitely made our stay less enjoyable and wish the owner either did a better job or made this clear in the description. Cockroaches are said to be a problem all over Maui, yet this was the only place with bugs out of 4 places we stayed at this week. All in all we had a good time in Hana and I recommend this place to people that are more comfortable with the bug situation.

  • The house was all that we expected to see, an unusual looking building in a beautiful and open setting. The house is made of wood inside and outside which gave us a cozy and warm feeling upon arrival. Once inside, it is a relatively modern house with the simplicity of the countryside. We loved our stay.

    Ardalan2015-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is awesome! It sits next to a small fruit farm run by the host, and he is willing to give tours if you ask. Hana is remote and beautiful. Check out Wainapanapa Park for an incredible beach (especially at sunrise).

    Corey2016-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful experience! The house and surroundings were absolutely beautiful, and Andrew was a perfect host. Thanks so much!

    Amy2016-05-15T00:00:00Z

Ever wondered what it's like inside a tiny house? Our cottage will make an ideal home base for your Hawaiian adventures. Nestled in the lush tropical paradise that is Hana, you’ll find our perfect accommodation to indulge your inner island spirit. Sleeps four. All Taxes are included in the listing price.
The Ocean View Cottage is a classic 24 foot long tiny home on wheels. Decorated in rustic Hawaiian style with industrial accents, this cottage boasts expansive ocean views from every corner as well as the sprawling certified organic farm it is situated above. BEDS The cottage sleeps 2 inside, although not ideal, it can accommodate 4. There is queen-sized bed up in the loft (accessed by a ladder), and the "L" couch in the living room, with windows in every direction that can be turned into a bed. We can also add a cot with a thick very comfortable foam mattress. There's plenty of storage under all beds. Two guests can be accommodated with a tent add-on for $50. linens pillows and blow up bed are included in that price. KITCHEN In the kitchen, you’ll find everything needed to make a gourmet meal—cast iron and stainless steel, and nonstick pots and pans, a 30-flavor spice rack, high-quality SHARP knives, and a NutriBullet SELECT 950-watt blender that blends kale to a smooth texture. We provide many different kinds of tea and whole bean Maui coffee in each unit. The kitchen has a french press and a coffee bean grinder so can enjoy the freshest cup of coffee possible. A cozy bar on the front porch will enable you to savor your surroundings while sipping you coffee or savoring your meal. TELEVISION/CABLE/NEWS TV is not possible here as we are off the grid. We suggest you let your short stay here be about disconnecting and getting in touch with yourself, your friends and nature. BEE HIVE EXPLORATION EXPERIENCE add-on. We have a bee hive. If you want to see it up close and personal, we will put on Bee Suits and together open the hive so you can get a real bee experience. It's $25 a person. I can show you around. Show you the honey, the babies, the worker bees, the drones and maybe we will see the queen. We are located in the heart of Hana, home to 5 of the most beautiful BEACHES in the world; boasting black, red, and white sands, with the closest beach less then 1 mile away. You can view them all in the guidebook provided in the cottage. The prices quoted in this listing include Gross Excise Tax 4% (GET). The Listing price is actually about $142.24 for the night + $5.76 (4% GET sales tax) =$148.00 Because this house is registered with the DMV, and therefore not under the jurisdiction of the building department, it's like renting an RV. Thus saving you the 9.25% Transient Accommodation Tax (TAT). This is a direct quote from the secretary of Alan Arakawa, Maui counties mayor, whom I personally called and asked. This cottage is not available for kids under 3 years old. all taxes are inclusive in the price. A NOTE ABOUT VALUE to think about when you're reviewing, analyzing and dreaming of living here. There are a few things people don't understand about living in Hawaii esp. in Hana. There are a lot of hidden costs to maintain a life out here. When it rains it pours. We have to fix our road a few times a year after big rains. Which requires tractor work. It's very costly. Imagine trucking in rock on the Hana Highway from the other side. And that rock sinks into the ground and disappears or gets washed away. Since this is one of the wettest places on earth, composting happens very fast. Which means our buildings rot very fast. We have to paint every 5 years instead of every 15 years. A 30-year roof only lasts 15 here. Our cars deteriorate at an astronomical rate. The metal on weed wakers and mowers rot. Small motor engines break often. The salt air is very damaging. On the mainland, a person might by 2 or 3 lawn mowers in their life time. We need to purchase one every 5 years. My neighbor buys a new one every 2 years. Our fridges get rusty from the salt in the air. A new one needs to be bought every 5-8 years. There are termites everywhere, and we need to tent the buildings for spraying every few years. The cost of a building is about $300 a sqft. On the mainland, it's around $100. The cost of cement is $400 per yard. On the mainland, it is $100/yard. It takes us about 30 hours a week just to keep the jungle from taking over our farm. Rain, sun, rain, sun everything grows fast. Bugs get in, cleaning needs to happen every day in everyone's house. Organic certification cost $1000 every year. It takes us a 12 hour day to go get supplies to live out here. We have to go about once every 10 days but it typically happens once a week. So that's a huge fuel cost to go to the store because we have to drive to Kahului. And then there is the property cost and insurance, we live in a hurricane path. So when you think of the value, please think of these things. I just want to say this because some guests have suggested we are making an incredible amount of money. The rentals allow us to stay here. But there are a lot of hidden expenses that people don't think about. Help keep our ratings high so we can keep it up. It's a lot of work. WE love it. And we love sharing it with you.
Our neighborhood speaks for itself. It's beauty and charm comes from our secluded location and the mountain and ocean views. You'll hear birds and bamboo singing, winds and rain, ocean pounding at times, sometimes kids playing, goats off in the distance, during whale season, Nov-Mar, we hear whales all the time. The famous Hamoa beach is 10 minutes, 7 sacred pools are about 30 minutes, red sands beach is 5 minutes, wianapanapa black sand beach is 2 minutes. There's a lot of local food. Soon there will be a few food trucks across the street from the farm. Kahanu Gardens, which boosts the biggest Hawaiian gathering place, in all the islands, is 2 miles away. The famous and largest lava tube in Hawaii is right next door, no need to drive. Just cross through the fence.
  • Great Tiny Home. Almost in Hana Town close to many of the escapes you would want to see near and in Hana. My wife loved all the fresh fruit. Bring mosquito spray to this side of the island though.

  • This was a special experience. The accommodations have been very well thought out and include many small touches that made for an exquisite experience. Lots of TLC have been brought to bear, and we fully enjoyed our stay. A big mahalo to Susie, Randy and Atticus, and also to our special caretakers Michelle, Makeshsta and Kai. :)

  • Had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Oceanview Cottage. Loved every minute of it - relaxing and felt as if we were 'off the grid', but comfortable and despite being a small space, it was perfect and had everything we needed. The bed is in a loft, so you need to be comfortable getting up and down a ladder to get to bed, but other than that, nothing else to do except stock up on some fresh fruit and a good book and enjoy the tropical surrounds1

  • Thank you so much for hosting us in the beautiful place you have! Located in gorgeous location surrounded by local farms on the breathtaking Hana Road.Only stayed one night and didn't get chance to interact with owners ,but really enjoyed the stay.We could tell from walk through of their property that they are full of progressive, holistic knowledge that let my son inspired.Perfect for someone who wants to go off grid for a bit.Place is all equipped, however listen to Susie advice bring food with you( almost everything is closed by 4-5 pm and Mosquitoes..we had natural and not so natural repelling solutions.however still got bitten ..Maybe Susie can share advice what to use the best? :) In overall great experience

  • Hana is a quiet, secluded place in itself. Susie and Randy's place has lush gardens, and the tiny house was clean, modern and hip. We immediately felt at home, and so relaxed! Highly recommend these hosts and this spot if you want to get away to a hip and relaxing sanctuary. Mahalo!

    Sarah2017-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Good: Beautiful landscape, charming location. Great value and a few minutes from Hana. Bad: Internet largely doesn't work. Think dial-up. Ugly: Severe bug issues. The unit is not sealed and bugs and lizards will be all over you. Tip- Get groceries at the Hana Ranch store or before the trip. Do not rely on food trucks, they close late afternoon.

  • I'm not a picky person when it comes to Airbnb locations, but I'm not sure this place is worth what you pay for it. We knew there would be neighbours downstairs, but we didn't think the walls would be so paper thin. We could hear the people downstairs snore all night. They also did charcoal BBQ which made our entire space smell like starter fuel and charcoal even with the "windows" closed. The toilet needs fixing. Whenever you flush it, it sounds like you're awaking the loch ness monster. Arrival communication was basically none. We ended up figuring out the door was unlocked and the key was upstairs. No welcome message or instructions or anything in the house or by e-mail. Honestly, it's the first time I'm disappointed by a place I rent on Airbnb. I just don't feel like it was worth the 280$ USD/per night we paid. The only bright side I have to say is that it is close to Hana Farms and The Clay Oven.

    Christian2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Really cool place. Felt like a tree house. Grounds and surrounding gardens were lush and cool to explore. Short walk to little food stand and honor fruit stands. Short drive to Hana.

  • Robert was a great host! Good communication with our group, the house was well kept, and the location was in a quite, peaceful neighborhood. We had a good experience staying in the Garden House, and would definitely recommend to our friends.

    Morgan2016-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our first AirBnB experience was a good one! The house was spacious, clean and surrounded by a beautiful lush tropical garden. Close to beaches and a 5 minute drive to Hana. There's even a small fruit stand down the block where we got out morning tea, banana bread and papayas. And the WiFi signal was stronger here than my home in NYC! I strongly recommend this place for anyone traveling off the beaten path in east Maui.

    Christopher2015-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The overall experience is very good. Robert was quick to respond, and willing to help. The place is very quiet, but is exposed to lots of mosquitoes.

Welcome to Hana Organic Farm Cabins and Camping. Located on a beautiful 2 acre Organic Farm in Hana, Maui. Here you can listen to the amazing sounds of the ocean and be surrounded by nature. Only a short walk to the beach. All Camping supplies and bedding are included. We are close to Beach, restaurants, groceries and it's great for for couples and solo adventurers.
Small cabin with tent inside. Just like camping but better protection if there's rain.
  • Markus was great, very hospitable. He had some good pointers for local attractions and food. The setting is nice... we even saw a few wild boars! The cost is quite high for what amounts to a night in a tent with a shower in the morning, but we knew that before we booked. Until the rain and wind picked up in the early morning it was hot and stuffy, making sleeping difficult. Being rather tall (6'3"), the tent was also too small for me. With a few refinements, we would be happy to stay there again.

    Jason2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very good spot, convenient and quiet, can hear the surf at night!

    Pamela2017-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Markus was great and we were able to check in pretty late which was great since we were driving the road to Hana. Nice protected camping site and no bugs in the tent He was also helpful with suggestions of what to do/see in the area. Great camp site!

    Catherine2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for a wonderful stay. Markus' place is one of the few affordable options in Hana. The place is simple as described and clean. It is a tropical environment, so I'd recommend bringing a lot of mosquito repellent.

    Lars2017-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Markus was super accommodating and welcoming. The location was great and the tent was clean. We enjoyed waking up to the sounds of the ocean and wildlife around us.

    Alex2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, easy to find. A very comfortable tent. My husband and eighteenth-month old son slept like babies, soothed by the lovely night rainforest sounds. Just a short hop to Hana Bay. A great place!

    Katherine2017-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great affordable option if you want to spend one night at Hana. Highly recommended for solo travelers.

    Roman2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Although the accommodation equates to basic elevated camping, relative to other Hana prices it is still a good value, and the bed mattress is comfortable and the bathroom facilities are adequate. The shower has been updated with privacy curtains since some prior reviews, which is a nice touch. Cold water, but actually felt refreshing from a long hot day traveling. We only stayed one night, so we didn't get to interact or see much of the farm, but it appeared to be a wonderful property and Markus and his wife were good hosts. They provided a hand soap and clean towels, and some bananas from their farm for us upon our check-in. Note the cabin currently is missing a full front screen so the only bug free zone is within the tent, but Markus seems to be doing small fixes regularly and I'm sure the screen will be replaced soon. Added reminder that you are amongst nature here, so follow the basic rule to keep any food secure. We had a little critter try to find a way to our bananas in the tent for part of the night until we realized the problem. Highly recommended for those seeking an overnight stay while traveling the Road to Hana.

Located in the 'Heart of Hana' across the road from a majestic black sand beach, this stunning multi-unit beach house is nestled in the lush Hawaiian jungle with towering bamboo and fruit trees next to a natural flowing creek formed out of lava rock. Expect to fall asleep to the sounds of the rolling ocean and wake up with birds chirping in a luxurious bed dressed with the most comfortable linens in your own private studio.
Guest have their own self-contained 250 sqft studio with a private entrance, wet bar, large full bathroom (shower) and private patio. The unit is essentially a hotel room set up. The unit is equipped with a microwave, small fridge, coffee maker, electric kettle, basic kitchen utensils (can/bottle/wine openers and a sharp knife) as well as cutlery. Linen and bath towels are provided, a playpen and/or floor mattress are available upon request. Coffee, tea and non-perishable snacks are also placed in the room for your enjoyment. We drink the tap water, Hana receives its water supply via a natural spring called the Makapipi that runs through Nahiku. We have a flatscreen TV that is connected with an Apple TV and complimentary Netflix account has been set up for our guests. Apple TV has many other apps available such as YouTube, National Geographic, PBS, Kids Networks, RedBull TV and many others. HBO and Hulu require a membership and we welcome you to sign into your account during your stay. A small cooler, beach chairs, umbrellas are beach towels are provided for your use during your stay. (*Please ensure you return the equipment to prevent additional replacement charges.) The fridge does not have a freezer so you may want to buy a bag of ice from town.
Guests often ask what do I recommend doing in Hana.... here is a detailed list: *I have completed the AirBnB GUIDEBOOK (map), not all listed below have been added as they were not available in the AirBnB directory. BEACHES My first choice is to take a short walk to Waikoloa Beach. Waikoloa is a secluded majestic black sand beach located directly across the street from us. It is an epic place to watch the sunrise, have a picnic, take a romantic stroll, or my favorite is to watch the full moon rise. Directly across the street from our driveway there is a rock wall that has a hole in it, carefully find your way through and follow the road down the hill. You can take the dirt road to the right (after two houses) or you can keep walking down the same road and take the dirt road to the right after a section of jungle, dried up riverbed and one more house. That dirt road will bring you to the other side of the beach and you can simply walk back on the beach and exit out on the first dirt road as described earlier. Hana Bay (a 5 min walk) is a historical site here on Maui, being the birth site of Queen Kaʻahumanu in 1768. The bay has calm waters and is excellent for floaties and children, a spectacular reef for snorkeling as kayaking (snorkeling gear and kayaks are available for rent daily). There is a delicious concession stand called the Barefoot Cafe on site that serves breakfast and lunch daily. Just on the outside of town there is a State Park called Waianapanapa State Park, which has a spectacular black sand beach and caves to explore. The views are breathtaking at Waianapanapa making a excellent location to capture a family photo and to enjoy a picnic. The state park has BBQ pits, picnic tables, bathroom facilities and showers available. Two amazing beaches are situated just past Hana Town in Hamoa Village. Kōkī Beach has a mixture of dark red and white sand which has been produced by the nearby cinder cone hill of Ka Iwi O Pele (meaning “bones of Pele”). Kōkī does have a concession stand where you can purchase the famous Huli Huli Chicken plate lunch. Kōkī also has a picnic area as well as a charcoal grill available for beachgoers. Hamoa Beach is a salt-and-pepper sand beach backed by 30-foot (9 m) high sea cliffs and lush vegetation, which contrasts sharply with the turquoise waters. Hamoa is equipped with a shower and a bathroom. Both are beautiful beaches but do not have life guards, it is always wise to check with locals on the water condition and obtain safety tips. DINING & RETAIL Dining and commercial retail are all within walking distance. There are several food trucks that are open on rotation, a concession stand - The Barefoot Cafe at Hana Bay and 2 restaurants Hana Ranch Restaurant ($$) and The Preserve Kitchen & Bar ($$$). The food trucks are generally open after 10:30 and close before 4:30, each has their own set hours and days of operation. The Preserve Kitchen & Bar is located in the Hotel Travassa and is open daily between 7:30am - 9:00pm. The Hana Ranch Restaurant is located in the town center and is open daily 11:00am - 8:30pm. Breakfast is served at the Travassa Hotel, Barefoot Cafe (Hana Bay Concession), Surfing Burro Food Truck and at Bradda Hutts Food Truck. Lunch is served at any of the food trucks in town, either of the two beach concessions (Hana Bay/Koki Beach), Hana Ranch Restaurant and the Travassa Hotel in the lounge/restaurant. Dinner is served at either the Hana Ranch Restaurant or Travassa Hotel. All food trucks are closed in the evening. In Hana Town you will find a gas station and two general stores, all open at 7:00am and close at 7:00pm daily. There is a post office, bank and a four small gift shops in the center of the town. OTHER ATTRACTIONS Kahanu Gardens is a spectacular 294-acre ethnobotanical garden with the magnificent Piʻilanihale Heiau, the largest temple in all of Polynesia. A must-do tour provides fascinating details into the extraordinary relationship between the ancient Hawaiians and their environment. This is perhaps the best opportunity in all of Hawaii to really understand what traditional Hawaiian culture was like prior to contact with the West. The Hana Lava Tubes make for a fun, family-friendly adventure. There are self-guided tours daily from 10:30am to 4:00pm. The tour takes approximately 40 minutes, costs $11.95 per person and is free for guests 5 years and younger. There is also a Red Ti Botanical Garden Maze to enjoy before or after your spelunking adventure. The Kīpahulu District of Haleakalā National Park can be accessed by driving 12 miles past the town of Hāna, on the famous Hāna Highway that circumscribes the northeast coast of the island of Maui. This area of the coast has been inhabited by native people for hundreds of years and remains an integral part of a thriving culture. Visitors to the Kīpahulu District are treated to views of waterfalls, sweeping ocean vistas, and Hawaiian cultural experiences. This park is famous for its Bamboo Forest Hike (Pīpīwai Trail) and the Seven Sacred Pools (Oheo Gulch). Charles Lindbergh is famous for his non-stop solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean in 1927. He moved to Maui and settled in the remote area of Kipahulu, retiring in the 1970s and was buried in 1974. Many visit his graveside to pay their respects at the Palapala Ho'omau Church. The famous church was built in 1857 and still stands along Maui's lush coastline. King's Trail - The Hana/Waianapanapa Trail follows a portion of the ancient “Kings Highway” from Pailoa Bay in Waianapanapa State Park to Kainalimu Bay in a shady heliotrope grove northwest of Hana Bay. The hike follows the jagged, windswept coastal cliffs, crossing lava flows above caves, underground tunnels and irregular islets. The trail passes blowholes, sea arches, tidepools and an ancient Hawaiian temple site. Smooth hand-set stepping stones are still in place along the aa lava and cinder path. Access to this trail is across the street from us but is not clearly marked and quite over grown. Hang Gliding Maui - Nothing compares to experiencing Maui’s beauty from the sky with an unforgettable flight over Hana’s coastlines, bays, valleys and volcanic origins. Your guide for this glider adventure is Hans, a veteran pilot who has been gliding since he was 14. Together, you’ll soar over the crystal blue waters of Hana Bay and glide along the surrounding coasts before an optional excursion over Haleakala, the world’s largest dormant volcano. As you see Haleakala Crater from above, you’ll pass Haleakala Observatory before winding your way back down to Hana Airport. Don’t forget your video camera — this is one thrilling and awe-inspiring journey you’ll want to remember for years to come. Reservation suggested, contact Hans directly. Airbnb does not allow us to post phone numbers so please (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) him to obtain contact info. Guided Horseback Riding Trails - Enjoy a true Hawaiian experience as you ride at Maui Stables, a Native Hawaiian Owned and Operated Company, located in the heart of the most beautiful scenery East Maui has to offer. This tour is offered daily, originating at a brand new and spacious stable facility where morning refreshments are served up with an orientation and equipment familiarization. Reservation suggested, contact them directly. Airbnb does not allow us to post phone numbers so please (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) them to obtain contact info.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Kaua And Tania’s place. The room was actually much bigger than i expected and much nicer in person. We had our 2 yrs old daughter that we planned to co-sleep with us for a night. Tania greeted us when we arrived, and the minute she saw us, she offered Pack&Play crib, brought beach toys, utensils and books for our daughter. Totally not expected. I was amazed and so grateful. Oh, and the coffee was super delicious;) Thank you again Kaua and Tania for our wonderful stay in Hana!

  • This was absolutely fabulous to stay in after our long day of driving Hana Hwy. Taina is the seeetest and very accommodating.

  • Tania and Kaua were extremely accommodating. It was very easy to Chex into the studio and find places to eat, as they gave us all the information we needed. Definitely recommend this studio!

  • Amazing place! It was just my wife and I and it was a very cozy and affordable place to stay in Hana. Location was perfect. Places to eat, beaches, and hikes were only a few minutes away. Tania was very responsive to my messages and gave a lot of helpful hints to make our stay more memorable. Would definitely come back again if we ever came back to Hana.

There's a well-equipped cooking facility and full private bath with tub and shower. A great place to wind down after a long day of exploring the wonders of East Maui. After a quiet night's rest, dozens of beautiful rain-forest songbirds will gently wake you in the morning. The private and secluded entrance to the suite includes free Wi-Fi service to keep you connected to the rest of the world while you enjoy your privacy. We request that you check in before dark. The kitchen is fully stocked with Cuisinart, blender, stainless steel peculator coffeepot, mixer, toaster, a fondue pot and sterno (we have wonderful Maui raised beef that can be purchased at the local grocery stores in Hana), and just about every utensil you would need to make delicious meals. The Hana Fresh Stand at Hana Health, across the street from us is open Monday-Friday from 10:00am-2:00pm and sells fresh vegetables grown on the property. The Ono Farms stand in Hana town is open daily with local produce. The refig has a freezer so, if you like ice cream and can find Roselani Ice Cream (made on Maui) at the Hana stores - this is an experience you do not want to miss - every flavor is delicious. Visit amazing tropical wonders such as the black sand beach at Waianapanapa State Park, Hamoa Bay, the Pools at `Ohe`o Gulch, and the unforgettable bamboo forest along the Pipiwai Trail in Kipahulu. Taste ono grinds and true organic vegetables and fruits at local markets. Meet the locals and experience what true Hawaiian culture and life is all about. Take note that the road to Hana is a long and winding one - both ways. Be prepared to spend a full day driving one way. We recommend driving the highway in its entirety, it is an experience in its own. On your return to the other side of the island, if you time your adventure right, you can witness sunset at Haleakala Crater - - 10,000 feet above the Central Valley of Maui! Your journey to Hana - in car, on bike, or even on foot - is waiting, come visit!
  • Dale welcomed us immediately and was very friendly and informative. He gave us a great tour of his garden, which is amazing. We would definitely stay here again. It's so peaceful and beautiful.

    Nancy2016-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Dale's place and it was a wonderful room and all amenities provided. Very clean room, quiet area, and wonderful hosts. Very close to the general store to get groceries and close to black sand beach! We had a wonderful experience in Hana and would recommend people staying at his place.

  • Great place. Very clean and inviting. Dale was very helpful. Would stay again if we visit Hana again.

    Jay 2015-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Dale met us at the door and showed us our room. I don't think there is an amenity they didn't provide. We also appreciated the local recommendations he gave us. The room was clean and spacious, the yard beautiful and secluded even though the property is on the main road in Hana. Satellite TV and internet was included.

    DAVID2016-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was absolutely perfect for our needs. My husband and I were driving on the road to Hana and had received advice to stay overnight because the drive back at night to Maui is treacherous. (Think one-lane bridges, huge cliffs, etc.) We were so glad that we took this advice and were even happier that we found a studio at Dale's. He was there to greet us, incredibly friendly and welcoming, and provided great recommendations for places to check out. The studio was way more equipped than we anticipated. There was lots of privacy, AC, a kitchen with lots of accompanying kitchenware. Dale was even kind enough to provide us with freshly laid eggs from his chickens for breakfast. He checked in with us while also giving us our privacy. Wonderful place.

    Sarah2016-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place Dale has in Hana. We were so pleasantly surprised. Clean and very comfortable. Dale was a great host. He greeted us, got us settled in and gave us some really great tips and then left us on our own. A well stocked kitchen, amazingly comfortable bed and great little deck to sit and sip wine or whatever. Really pretty garden/yard. Off the main road, so nice and quiet. We just wish we were staying for more than one night. We hope to come back soon. Thanks Dale!

    Gail2016-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for one night at Heavenly Paradise on May 29th. It was our first Air b&b experience and exceeded beyond our expectations. We arrived by 4pm and were welcomed by Jenny and Dale Jr who showed us around the place. The studio was amazing and well equipped with amenities. We had a private garden view that was beautiful. For dinner, we made pasta and vegetables bought from the nearby Hasegawa grocery store. Dale was gracious enough to let us use herbs from the garden. Overall we had a great experience! Wish we had stayed an extra day to explore more of Hana. Would highly recommend Heavenly Paradise for anyone looking to stay in Hana.

  • Good value for a beautiful location. I expected the bugs, and had already been a mosquito feast on the road to hana, even with spray. My husband was pretty unbothered, though. Staying at Tutu's House is kind of like glamping in one of the most beautiful places on the planet. With the few restaurants and stores in Hana right up the street, it was easy to refuel for our trip back the next day. All the important stuff was clean, and we had everything we needed to cook dinner and breakfast before getting on the road again. There's no AC, but plenty of fans provided made the place pretty comfortable at night.

    Christina2016-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my 2 nights at Jamie's/Tutus house! Everything as described, user friendly, clean and having the ocean to listen to at night made my stay special. If you don't understand what's going on in a rainforest I don't recommend you stay here or anywhere on East Maui. There will be bugs no matter what ( I saw others complain about that). Just get over it and coexist. I put on a little bug spray and everything was fine! Mahalo for experience :)

    Rena 2016-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The unit is centrally located. The place is simple, and appeared as described. Never had any contact with the host from the time of booking until leaving. She never reached out after the booking was confirmed. The unit is simple, and minimally furnished. One of the kitchen chairs had a broken seat back. The bed linen was rather bare, and the sheet had a hole in it. A few small upgrades would make the unit more appealing.

    Veronica2016-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Place was great! Great view and comfortable.

    Zack2017-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location in secluded Hana. Very spacious with amenities that many west Maui resorts do not offer. A great value for the location and space.

    Matt2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was spacious and airy, the kitchen well supplied, the bed was very comfortable, and the sound of surf during the night was delightful! An added bonus was that there were fresh bananas right outside the door. Very quirt and relaxing place.

    Deborah2017-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Fantasticalicious. The back yard has 10 zillion stars. If you're coming from the dry side of the island bring some bug spray as you're now in the rainforest, which is a good thing.

    Robert2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • It is exactly as advertised -- the furnishings and appliances are old but functional. The place is dated but clean and has charm. From the back you overlook the ocean through banana and coconut trees. It gives you a chance to live for a few days like a Hawaiian, not a tourist. PS. We met Jaimie and her husband. They are delightful.

  • We loved Tobi's house!Pictures doesn't do it justice. Very spacious, homey and clean! Tobi was very easy and sweet to communicate with and she offered us the downstairs lanai since nobody was renting there. Great spot right by black Rock beach and right in the middle of Hana. I highly recommend her space! Mahalo Tobi!

  • We spent 2 nights here at the beginning of our trip to Maui. It was a great way to see Hana and enjoy the beaches and hikes nearby without being rushed. The place was clean, spacious, and well-stocked. We had everything we needed to cook some simple meals and enjoy the beach. Not a problem with the place, but just FYI for other travelers. There is very little in Hana as far as food- 2 small convenience/grocery stores, a fancy restaurant that doesn't have great reviews on Yelp, and some food trucks with varying hours. If we'd prepared better, we would probably have grabbed some groceries before we headed on the trip.

    Angeline2017-02-09T00:00:00Z

  • What an awesome place to stay in Hana! I've been to Maui many times but never stayed overnight in Hana. Let me tell you, it's the way to go! This house is exactly what you would hope for in Hana. We spent hours on the lanai listening to the rain and ocean. So much fun and we got out early to see the seven sacred pool before it got crowded. We will def stay again

  • Fantastic hosts! The house was perfect in every way We fell asleep to the sound of rolling waves and birdsong. Everything one could want was provided and more. Beach toys and boogie boards, table tennis, 2 minutes to the beach and 5 minutes from beautiful; Red Sands. Attention to detail and a cosy home feeling. Thanks Fishers, we'll be back!

  • We had a wonderful time at Tony's Hana house... it was spacious, clean, well-equipped, and comfortable. The landscaping is gorgeous, and there is a well-stocked adventure cabinet downstairs full of beach mats, chairs, floating toys, etc... to enjoy the beach. The beds are really comfortable! We had a great experience communicating with the host, and had total privacy while we were there (the downstairs unit wasn't occupied). Would stay there again in a heartbeat!

  • Tims suite was breathtaking. Hana Maui is definitely the best place on earth! We were here visiting family, and the suite made us feel right at home. We would definitely stay here again. The resort has all the amenities you would need, but the suite also has a full kitchen and GORGEOUS bathroom. There were only two of us, but this place could sleep up to 5 people, two on the massive couch, two in the king and one on the twin. Ocean views are incredible in this suite. Thank you Tim for being such an amazing, responsive and welcoming host. Staying here is like staying in the presidential suite of a 5 star resort. Not your average air bnb!!!!!!

    Skylar2016-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was absolutely gorgeous, and totally matched the description. Unfortunately we weren't able to check in on our first night or to reach Tim, which was incredibly stressful after a flight and long drive to Hana. Luckily, the hotel had a room we were able to book for that night. Tim got in touch with us the next day, and was able to get us into the apartment for our second night. We had a great stay there, and would have loved to have stayed for both nights, as it was a wonderful place, from the chef's kitchen to the amenities at Travaasa.

    Kayleigh2017-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • This place is incredible! It was the highlight of the honeymoon for us. The hot tub at night all to ourselves, the infinity pool overlooking the ocean, hearing and seeing the ocean from our bed, and enjoying the tradewinds from our private lanai. This was a such a magical place. And the staff was sooooo friendly. Massive place, big enough for four-six people to sleep (day bed, couch, etc) and wonderful upscale touches throughout the home and the grounds exude elegance yet Hawaiian old school charm. Simply put - paradise.

    jack2017-04-17T00:00:00Z

Hana is known as the last Hawaiian place. Our community is still predominantly Hawaiian. Hana has a rich history and the Hawaiian population in this area once numbered in the hundreds of thousands. Today Hana's population is under 2000, from Keanae to Kaupo, a 40 mile coastal radius. Hana Kai is centrally located and easily accessible. The property is nestled along the North side of Hana Bay at the entrance to Waikoloa Beach. Although we do not recommend swimming (except on very calm days), Waikoloa Beach is wonderful to explore and you can actually walk for several miles on the coastal trail to Waianapanapa State park. Hana Bay is a precious resource to the community and you may see fisherman netting Akule, keiki swimming in the gentle shore break at Hana Bay, dolphins and sometimes whales, turtles along the rocks or canoe paddlers practicing for an upcoming regatta.
  • The girl in the office was friendly and helpful. The unit was clean (other than a few long black hairs here and there) and had modern appliances. There was everything you would need for an extended stay. There is no air conditioning, so we had to leave dampers on front door open and back sliding door slightly open to get a cross breeze. This caused us to hear everyone who walked up or down the stairs. There is not much to do in Hana, so bring a book and prepare to relax.

    Steve2016-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for what we needed on our Hana Trip. Very well equipped kitchen with everything we needed to cook! No frills, but you don't come here to spend a bunch of time in the room!

  • I would definitely recommend a night in Hana after a day of driving. It's clean and has a great balcony and good view of the Hana bay. It's really close to the red sand beach and a lot of other spots on the Hana drive. And then wake up and continue the drive past Hana and do the pipiwai trail! Great communication and spot!

    Thomas2016-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful one night stay at the Hana Kai on Maui. The room had a beautiful view of the ocean. We slept to the sound of the waves leaving the door to the lanai open. The room was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with everything we needed. I wish we had stayed longer. There were notebooks full of suggestions of activities and a map. The only slight downside is that the walls are thin so it's not very hard to hear your neighbors, but we had no problems. They even provide ear plugs! But we didn't need them. The location is great, right in Hana just a couple minutes walk to Hana bay beach and a short drive to Hamoa and Koki. All in all, a wonderful stay! We will stay here again next time we come to Hana.

Welcome to beautiful Hana. Rudi's Ranch is 1 bedroom cottage located near idyllic Hana town. You have a full kitchen, access to two bikes. A charcoal bbq. We are on 6 acres.
A very safe - quiet area- all other neighbors are on 6 acre lots- mostly rural with farming- papaya, cacao, macadamia nuts.
  • The host was courteous and responsive leading up to the trip. She met us for 5 mins when we got there and showed us all we needed to know about the property. The guest house is cozy and clean, especially for a ranch. Great location for exploring Hana surroundings and there's direct tv and Apple TV for a really rainy day. Positive experience overall.

  • Sharon welcomed up with a banana bread, the unofficial symbol of the Road to Hana. The cottage was clean and well-equipped and located on 6 acres of heaven. Great location - close to State Park, lava tubes and Hana town. The best part was waking up in the morning to JJ, the horse, standing right outside the bedroom screen door. Felt like a movie set. Lovely place to take our time in that part of Maui and not rush to drive both ways on the same day.

  • It was my favorite experience with airbnb. The place was gorgeous, and we really appreciate the animals around (I'll miss the dogs SO much ...). The cottage was perfect, well equipped and huge. I recommand this place.

  • We are so glad we decided to stay a few nights in Hana. It let us take the drive from Paia leisurely and explore all of the amazing beaches (black sand, red sand, normal sand!) nearby. Sharon's guest cottage had everything we needed and is incredibly peaceful. Sharon helped us get situated and was available for any questions. We loved eating at Braddah Huts and watching sunrises and sunsets at the Black Sand beach that was less than a 10 min drive away.

  • Our stay was wonderful! Sharon was the perfect host and the cottage was a pleasant surprise! Amazing location for the road to Hana!

  • Sharon was absolutely amazing. She made us feel so welcome and comfortable it felt like we were staying with a family member. My boyfriend ended up losing his wallet while we were in Hana and she was more upset and concerned than we were! She helped us contact the places we were at to try and locate the wallet and gave us helpful tips like going to the police station so that we would be able to get back on to our plane. The pictures of her property do NOT do her place justice. It is breathtaking. And the bed... ah! Super comfortable: It is close to many good local spots and her animals completely stole our hearts. We will make a point to stay here again the next time we visit Hana. Thanks again Sharon! Until we meet again.

  • Sharon and Alan were both great hosts! The cottage is really quite large, and very airy with open beamed ceilings. Bedroom set up was perfect, cozy, peaceful, can hear all the birds and the rain. Kitchen is well equiped, full size fridge/freezer and gas burning stove. 3 happy doggies greated us, and 2 beautiful horses. Alan and Sharon are both very friendly and engaging (and gave us some great recommendations) but also give you privacy. A wonderful, very peaceful stay at Rudi's Ranch!

  • This is one of the best Airbnbs that I’ve stayed in. Sharon is a great host who knows tons about the area. The property is relaxing in a very quiet and safe residential neighborhood. The building is set off from the main house, and has a kitchen, living room, and bedroom. We bought some breakfast stuff from the Hana Ranch store so we had a chill start to the day. You're a 10 minute drive from the hotel and the Bay in Hana town, and 5 minutes from the National Botanical Gardens which are worth a look in.

In Hawaiian "Kailani" means "Heavenly Sea " Kailani's panoramic view will connect you to the heavenly ocean in a breathtaking and some say "mystical experience " only Hana can provide. The owners of Bamboo Valley Inn in Haiku, Maui are now offering a one bedroom suite in tranquil Hana. This suite, located at Hana Kai Maui Resort is a top floor corner suite which provides exceptional privacy, expansive ocean views and the sounds of the ocean from every room. With a total living space of 850 square feet (including covered lanai's) the Kailani Suite will allow you to unwind and relax after your drive to Hana. With a 200 square foot covered lanai, the sights and sounds of the Pacific Ocean provide a focal point for your outdoor dining and relaxation. Guests generally find that they spend a majority of time on the lanai. From morning coffee to romantic dinners and everything in between, the lanai provides the utmost in views, serenity and spaciousness. The bedroom, with a queen bed, also has an additional lanai with seating area. Gentle breezes blow through the rooms; an added benefit of a top floor corner suite. From your room, you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves on the beach below. The living room with queen size futon couch and two futon chairs provides comfortable seating for reading, games and conversation. Wide double sliding doors open the living room up to the lanai and the vast ocean view. We strongly suggest "unplugging" while in Hana, however if connecting to the outside world is necessary, free dedicated Kailani suite wi-fi and cable television are provided in both living room and bedroom (the only suite to offer this at Hana Kai resort). Our kitchen, with full size refrigerator, glass top stove, microwave, coffee maker, blender has all the supplies you will need to create a memorable meal. The pass through window with breakfast bar from kitchen to lanai allows the chef in your family to enjoy the views and conversation while busy in the kitchen. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by fresh tropical flowers, breakfast tray with continental items, coffee and tea. While staying as our guest, you will have complementary use of beach towels, boogie boards, cooler and beach chairs for all your Hana adventures. The property boasts a freshwater pond, koi pond, BBQ grills and picnic area. Laundry facilities are available for a fee. Tax ID# W0018890402 Walking distance to Hana Town for shopping, tennis courts, basketball courts, snack shops and churches.
  • This place exceeded all expectations! Lots of information in the welcome book for things to do in and around Hana! Very easy to find from the Hana road. Walking distance to the local restaurants and general store or if you prefer to cook then the place is well equipt for this. Amazing view of the bay! Overall all an excellent stay!

Centrally located this spacious studio offers a peaceful retreat for those looking to soak up some Maui magic.
Peaceful, quiet, open with lots of greenery and fresh Hana air!
The house sits on a large lot with plenty of open space and privacy. All local Hana tourist attractions are nearby. Ex; Hana Bay, Red Sand Beach, Hamoa Beach, Haleakala National Park, Waianapanapa State Park, Lava Tube etc. Fall asleep to the distant sound of ocean waves---wake to the sound of the local birds and neighborhood roosters singing.
  • Simple, but really convenient to the area. The house is clean, the bed is comfy and the kitchen, while very small, was appointed with everything we needed. Teresa's place is a perfect home base to explore Hana.

    Deb2017-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Teresa's cottage is very adequate for a stay in Hana. It has the true Hawaiian feel. You must like the outdoor sounds and fresh air in order to totally enjoy your stay. It is open air with screened windows in some areas. Not sure I would be comfortable if it really got cool and windy. We did enjoy our stay as we had a perfect warm night and I would stay again if I have the chance to return to Hana.

    Diane2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Teresa's cozy cottage was just what we were looking for - clean, quaint, and off the beaten path. It poured during our stay, and the sound of the rain through the open windows and on the tin roof was just lovely. We arrived after dark and had a difficult time finding it, but Teresa was kind enough to meet us at the end of the driveway and lead the way. We would definitely stay here again!

    Emily2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • It is really cozy cotage and just if you wish to explore Hana road slower not in one day. I would strongly recomend to do that it as is really enough explorings for two days and Teresa place is ideal for that. Outdoor accesible WC and shower just superb and adds additional impressions. Teresa is very friendly and comunicative host before travel and when you reach her place. Best wishes.

  • The place was very clean, and larger than it looked in the picture. We loved the yard and the location. Teresa made sure we had everything we needed and was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

    T.J.2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • For those wanting to drive the road to Hana, I suggest spending the night there since the drive itself is sort of stressful. (Lots of one lane bridges with two way traffic.) There's not much to do in Hana itself other than soak up the atmosphere. We stayed at Teresa's cabin outside the main house. It was clean, but very basic. Though we expected an outdoor toilet, we were surprised not to have towels, toilet paper or paper towels/napkins provided. There were no windows (just screens) and no window coverings on the building. Although it's located in the backyard, it feels a little weird that anyone could theoretically look in on you when you're asleep. It rained while we were there, and due to the tin roof, the rain echoed very loudly inside the structure. For the price I think it's a decent option, but certainly it's important for visitors to have the right expectations going in.

    Jason2017-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Teresa's place is perfect. It was exactly what we were looking for in our Hana experience. We'll try to stay in her wonderfully cozy cottage when we return to Hana, without a doubt.

  • This is a great, clean, no-frills option for those doing the road to Hana. The king-sized bed was extremely comfortable and the shower felt amazing after all that hiking and mud. There's no AC so the room is warm, but Rolene provided four powerful fans that made our sleep very enjoyable. She also provided coffee and a mini-fridge. Would recommend!

The cottage is private and secluded, however, there is a main house on the property. We do live on the property and are available should you need anything, have questions or would like tips on things to do or information about Hana.
The Tradewinds Cottage is located in a safe and quiet residential neighborhood.
  • Very quiet, nice, clean and comfortable cottage. Short drive to food trucks and general store in central Hana. Great point to access beaches around Hana and East side of Haleakala.

Private and peaceful! Papaya, avocado, and citrus are grown on this one acre retreat. A short walk to beautiful Waianapanapa State Park. There is access to hiking on the spectacular "King's Trail", and a beautiful black sand beach.
This is comfortable Two bedroom and two bathroom cottage. The living room has a big sectional couch and big screen satellite TV. A nice night time entertainment after long days hiking, site seeing and playing at the beach. The yard is a great place to wander and check out the different tropical plants and fruit trees.
The neighborhood is made up of one half acre lots or more. this makes it very private and gives it more of a rural feel with all the amenities of living in town.
  • We had magical and priceless experiences both at Jodie's place and at Waianapanapa State Park. The park is less than a half mile walk down a beautiful- in places gorgeous- street. Jody's large property is picturesque with tropical fruits and flowers. The house is spacious and has a Hawaiian motif. For our November stay the overhead fans and trade winds kept the indoor temperatures comfortable at all times. There is no A/C. This is a rural Hawaiian experience. It's not about movie theaters, 100s of TV channels, the internet and connectivity. The nearest store (not supermarket) is 10 minutes away and closes at 7:30 PM. That made all the nice surprises in the refrig, cupboard and the fruit larder so welcome for our late arrival. The house was clean and well-maintained. We had complete privacy but contacted the local caretaker when we thought we had a problem He was immediately available to handle the issue in minutes by phone. There is a spiritual, romantic quality to the Waianapanapa State Park area that extends to this property that is an optional extra but by no means guaranteed. How many vacation places offer such a possiblility? Your results may vary.

    Martin2016-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This house is beautiful -- Located just outside Hana and down the street from Waiʻanapanapa State Park. We loved our time here. So peaceful and tranquil. Jody was very communicative and provided tons of suggestions regarding hiking trails and places to eat. Highly recommend!

    Hannah2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • We were very happy with or stay at Jody's in Hana. Jody's place met and in many ways exceeded our expectations. In some ways the pictures don't do it justice. The fruit trees surrounding the home were heavy with fruit and we had a great time walking around exploring and enjoying the fruit and beautiful flowers. The home was very clean comfortable, and nicely decorated. The home is nestled in an amazing location right near Wai'anapanapa State Park and a beautiful black sand beach. We would definitely stay there again. The only complaint was no AC, as the house gets very hot in the afternoon nd early evening.

    Kimberly2016-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay - walking distance to a beautiful beach and truly unique coastal area. Beautiful flowers and fresh fruit were in the house on arrival. Hana us a very special part of the world and we are so glad we were able to stay for a few days, allowing us to beat the crowds to most locations. Thank you Jody for hosting us!

    Kelsi2017-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jody left thorough information about check-in and check-out, and was extremely helpful and easy to reach. I'd printed the wrong document and showing up in Hana in the evening with no connectivity on my phone and thus no way to log into Airbnb, we had trouble finding the place. So we were grateful that Jody was available by cell when we called her at what must have been about 10:30 p.m. in her time zone. The house is beautiful. It is obvious how much love and care the hosts have put into it, and it was the perfect place for my travel companion and I to settle into for three days in Hana. Don't expect perfectly reliable internet at the house. There is booster that allowed one of our devices limited connectivity if used in a certain part of the house. But this is Hana. We knew about the wifi situation going in and were prepared. The cottage was immaculately clean, tidy and handsome inside and out. Beds were extremely comfortable. The porch was marvelous. House was well appointed from top to bottom, up to and including spices for cooking and a charcoal grill. The little cabinet of fruit on the porch (from the beautiful front yard) was a nice touch. We had a perfect avocado to use in the major 5-course feast we grilled and cooked on our last night. Wonderful place. We would highly recommend it to anyone. Mahalo.

  • Tom and I were given clear instructions for check-in. What a lovely home! Tom an I were greeted with a gorgeous bouquet of tropical flowers and an assortment of fresh fruit picked from the beautiful garden that surrounded the house. I made delicious smoothies with them. The house was spacious with lots of amenities including a washer and dryer. The outdoor shower was very handy for washing off sand and dirt from our feet. Tom and I enjoyed the short walk to Waianapanapa State Park (Black Sand Beach) and were able to beat the crowds. We did not have the pleasure of meeting Jody but was very responsive to emails. Stacey, who managed the property was very nice and made sure we were ok. My husband and I loved staying here. We would definitely like to come back again!

    Tyheshia2016-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jody's place is a wonderful retreat in one of the most beautiful places in the world. It was the perfect location allowing us to take the time to explore Hana and the surrounding areas without having to do the road and back all on the same day. Jody was a wonderful communicator explaining everything precisely and giving helpful tips about things to do. Her place had everything we needed to enjoy our trip. She thought of everything from the flower arrangement when we walked in to zip lock baggies to take some of our uneaten food with us when we left. I was able to tune myself to the rhythms of Hana while there. My only regret was my stay was not long enough. Thanks so much!

    Jeffrey2017-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • If you're in doubt about where to stay in Hana, look no further...Jody's place is perfect for the laid back Hana lifestyle blended with a clean and comfortable atmosphere.
