  • We don't regret booking this place for our stay in Kobe. We felt like we're just at home with our sweet grandma. Oka-san is the sweetest! We loved all the meals that she prepared for us everyday. She made sure that our room is always clean once we get back to the house. She even offered to wash our clothes. She is very much appreciated. The bathroom is very clean. Oka-san even drove us to the station on the way to Narita airport. Will definitely book this house again. I will miss her meals! ❤️ Thanks so much Oka-San and family!

  • Words can not express how much I enjoyed my stay with Oka-San. How can you not when Oka-San greets with warmest and biggest smile. I felt very welcome. Oka-San gave me a piece of home. As a solo traveler that meant a lot especially going out everyday exploring and coming back at the end of the tired. She prepares such yummy breakfasts, she even offered to wash my clothes (I say that's above & beyond the call of duty but I could not be more grateful). Finally: Oka-San & Ota-San do not speak English & I, much to my dismay do not speak Japanese, but because of the wonders of technology, we never lost a beat thanks to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Translate - yipppiii. We talked like old friends. I encourage anyone and everyone to book with "Japanese Mother". It's worth it. Thank you sincerely Oka-San, Oto-San and of course Kaori for all your generosity. Sincerely, D. Dee ❤️

  • Oka-san and family are amazing hosts! Their home is about a 10 minute walk from the nearest station and there is a supermarket and restaurants nearby. It's in a nice, quiet neighborhood. The city center is about 3 stops away. The room is clean and quite spacious with plenty of privacy. But the real highlight is the hospitality. Oka-san really goes out of her way to make you feel at home: (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)-translated conversations, laundry, medicine (was feeling a bit under the weather and had an allergic reaction), and delicious breakfasts and dinners that are not to be missed. It's a lovely place to stay!

  • Oka-san (the host mother) is very caring and helpful. My room was large and it was really useful to have the small desk and bar fridge in there. After I arrived, I headed out on the train to Arima Onsen about an hour away (with some train tips from Oka-san). In the morning, Oka-san prepared a sumptuous breakfast (salmon, egg roll, yoghurt, the list goes on) and was more than happy to chat (via translation app), have some laughs and give Kobe travel tips. I had to leave quite soon after breakfast and Oka-san kindly offered me a lift to the station - all in all, it was a really friendly and relaxed place to stay :)

  • [Highly Recommended!!] We had a wonderful 2 night air bnb experience at this heartwarming family's house. The host mother, Itsuko san was very kind and helpful throughout our stay. The room was clean, had a lock on the door, and fresh towels were provided every night. Itsuko san even offered doing our laundry! The complementary breakfast was just amazing. There's no better chance to try some real Japanese home cooked meal, and it's free of charge!! Kaori san, the host mother's daughter in law gave me the detailed directions to their house and we had no trouble getting there. She would always reply to me quickly and was very friendly and helpful! I wish I could've stayed longer. Itsuko san has allowed me to feel like I have another mom in Kobe now! :D We'd strongly recommend you to stay here and meet the wonderful family.

  • This is a good experience in Kobe. The host is so kind and lovely. The room is clean and comfortable. The toilet and bathroom are also clean. The host (Okasan) cooked delicious food to us. Okasan provided a lot of help in our journey. I would like to visit Okasan again.

Sorry if there are mistakes in my grammar.) At the time, it was this host's first time using AirBnB, but it was good. There are several apartment buildings in the Oonaka Area, so we had to make sure it says "Oonaka Heights" (A or B) on the building. (Not Oonaka Mansion, etc.) We felt super happy when we found the building because Mr. Asahara had written "Welcome Vikki" on a signboard outside. The apartment was really bare, so it was spacious and felt clean. It looked new, too. The bedding was clean and easy to use. The sink in front of the shower didn't work, but we could use the one in the kitchen so it was no problem. We met the host, who was really friendly. He responds to messages promptly, and tried his best with English.

Welcome to Akashi, Hyogo Prefecture Please check the Website Google Translate The Akashi Municipal Planetarium The Akashi Municipal Planetarium Convenient public transportation and ease of accessibility adds to the draw of Akashi. Akashi Station is accessible by both the JR and Sanyo train lines, and from there the outer areas of the city are serviced by the Shinki Bus company. The city is located between Kobe City to the east and Himeji City to the west. The first is known worldwide as a port city and is famous for the Arima Hot Springs Resort, while the second is famous for Himeji Castle, a World Cultural Heritage Site. Akashi is situated at the southeastern tip of the Harima Plain, exactly on the meridian of 135。east longitude, which is the basis for Japanese Standard Time (JST). For this reason, the city is known as ‘The City of Time.’ The Akashi Municipal Planetarium was built in 1960 on the meridian as a symbol of its municipality. The planetarium is the oldest one in active operation in Japan, and the 5th oldest in the world. The live explanation by planetarium staff invites visitors to experience the starry expanses of the sky for themselves. Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge Akashi city faces the Akashi Strait and looks out on the eastern part of the Seto Inland Sea. The city’s coastal line stretches approximately 15.6 km from east to west along the seashore. Okura Seaside Park charms visitors with its amazing views of the ocean and the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in the world, which extends over the strait to Awaji Island to the south. Many aspects of the city’s industry and culture developed thanks to the abundant blessings it receives from the sea. Uo-no-tana Uo-no-tana Akashi-yaki Akashi-yaki Akashi has prospered as a city of seafood and marine products. Thanks to rapid tides and rich food sources for marine life, Akashi-dai (sea-bream), Akashi-dako (octopus) and conger eels in particular flourish. Fish from Akashi are popular throughout the country for their freshness, texture and taste. The 400-year-old traditional shopping street, Uo-no-tana, is filled with shops that sell fresh catches of the day from the strait, along with various other marine products. While you’re here, why not try the local specialty, Akashi-yaki (locally know as ‘tamago-yaki’ )? Akashi-yaki consists of dumplings made from eggs mixed with a special flour mix, with a piece of chopped octopus inside; each shop serves these dumplings with a side of its own specially seasoned soup for dipping, and the combination of the softness of the egg and the firmness of the octopus is loved by people all over Japan. This dish is said to be the origin of ‘tako-yaki,’ the egg-dumplings popular in Osaka. Akashi Castle Akashi Castle Visitors to Akashi can experience the beauty of its vistas throughout the changing seasons. Akashi Park with over 1,000 cherry trees that display dense, pink curtains of blossoms each spring was named one of the nation’s top 100 spots for cherry blossom viewing. Inside the park lies Akashi Castle, selected as one of the nation’s top 100 most beautiful castles. Among the remains of the castle, the two watch towers ‘Hitsuji-saru yagura’ and ‘Tatsumi yagura,’ designated Important Cultural Properties of Japan, are periodically opened to the public. Visitors to the park may also stroll through the Musashi-no -teien’, a garden created by Miyamoto Musashi, a great swordsman. He is also said to be the one who divided Akashi city into guilds and townships. Time. History. Food. Culture. Vistas. Please come and enjoy all these things and more in Akashi ! • Beautiful sea-side room, I heard that ocean waves all night long.

    Cheng-Chang2016-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful! We were looking for a relaxing place to stay along the beach and Akemi's house was perfect-when she says 10 seconds to the beach, she's not kidding. The bedroom was beautiful and we spent a lovely time on the deck watching the ocean. There is a train station 5 minutes away that we used to travel easily to many different places. She was a gracious host and offered to pick us up and take us to the train station and to the grocery store if we needed it. Highly recommended - 5 stars all around. Thank you Akemi and Amelie for some wonderful memories!!!

    Josh2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We are coming in the rainy night, Akemi & Amelie (cute dog) pick us in the nishi akashi station really patiently, and the room is really nice, we can hear the wave sound (romantic) we have the best ever sleep, we can see the ocean view from the room and bathroom (shared & really spacious), great place for vacation and feeling peace at there. She also drop us in kobe station, overblowing nice host for me :) highly recommended!

    theo2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Akemi was a great host. Her son picked us up from the train station! Our backyard was an ocean! Beautiful location. Lots of small shrines nearby. Akashi Castle isn't too far. Very close to Fujie Station and a 7-11. Nice bathroom and shower. Washer included. Back porch is great for relaxing. No complaints! Lovely stay :D Thanks Akemi!

    Kyle2015-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay with Akemi. Her place is a little too far from Shinkansen station to walk, so she picked us up. The local train is close enough to walk though and we used it easily. She had a large collection of local information and maps and helped with the places we planned to go. Loved the view we had from the room and while sitting and eating breakfast, which we cooked there, no restaurants right there as it is a residential area. Seven Eleven store is close by with some prepared food if you don't want to cook. Her English is limited, but good enough for basic communication.

    Linda2017-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed one night and everything was fine. Apartment and balcony are beautiful, we would come back again :)

    Anna-Rosa2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • we had a great stay at Akemi's beach house. In the morning she gave us a nice breakfast. I would recommend her place. We where traveling with our 8 year old daughter.

    Remko2016-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very nice and quiet and the location right next to the beach is definitly worth the sweat of getting there. I would recommend the higher road to the house instead of the one at the beach for people with rolling luggage, since there are a lot of steps and uneven ground. The small supermarket and 7/11 close by were enough for the 5 days stay. It's perfect for simply relaxing, since there is really nothing to do in the area. The beach is a mix of Shell sand and palett stones. We had a great time!

  • We had a great stay with Masahiko and his lovely family! Their house is slightly further away from the city center, but it was an amazing experience seeing and exploring Kobe in a different way. We enjoyed by just walking, singing and biking around. Absolutely love the view and stillness of the place! Masahiko drove us to buy grocery. I wasn't feeling well, his wife gave me medicine and made sure I was ok. My friend left her retainer in their house, Masahiko-san went to the station to return the item to my friend. We really appreciate their hospitality and help! Arigatoh gozaimasu, Masahiko-san and your family! :)

  • This was more than a place to stay the night - it was a complete experience!! Masa and his family were very warm and welcoming; provided a beautiful meal and breakfast, collected & dropped us off to the train station and his children played with ours (such a wonderful cultural experience). The accommodation was soo cool; a converted barn that was very clean, comfortable and the kids just loved it (soo much fun)! The setting was full of character and personality - it creates a unique and fun stay!!

    Amy2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
Masahiro was a great host who went out of his way to be as helpful as possible. The accommodation was comfortable and suitable as one could have expect, given that its a renovated shed. Great option for those who are looking for something a bit different, our kids especially liked it. Getting to try all the different kinds of tomatoes that they grow was awesome. A car also makes this place a lot easier. Wouldn't hesitate to return again.

    Matt2016-05-02T00:00:00Z

    Takashi2016-06-22T00:00:00Z

Himeji is a city with history, all the main tourist attractions are surrounding the UNESCO historic site Himeji Castle, which is considered as one of best castles in Japan. Mt. Shosha Enkyou Temple was shot in the film Last Samurai which is 30 minutes drive away from town center is another great spot worthwhile visiting. Unlike other big cities, Himeji is a more relaxing town yet full of energy where you could explore the real Kansai and Japan.
  • Himeji was beautiful and the locations was very close to the main train station which was very nice. The house was modern and very clean and the room I stayed it was cozy. I highly recommend staying here if you are making a stop in Himeji.

  • I was welcome by Yoshi, Darcy and the adorable dog when I arrived from Matsuyama. The place was really cozy and had everything u need.. Their place was also just approximately 10 minutes walk to the station and various shops. Would definitely stay with them again if I visit Himeji the next time!

    Jingjing2015-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lots of information was available for the sightseeing and the room is very well located, halfway between the castle and the train station, in a quiet area. We found lots of hairs in the bedsheets/futons, and even though they smelled like fresh sheets, I am not entirely sure, they were changed for us. Other than that, it was a good experience.

    Velina2016-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • A great host , clean house and yochi also took time out to take me out on one of the days.

  • Yoshi's place was great. Although we had a minor difficulty in looking for the place, our stay was nothing less than pleasant. Yoshi and Darcy were also kind enough to accommodate our last minute changes in plans of which, was a great help to us as our schedule were very packed. The Japanese room was nice and warm and ofcourse, their dog, Sora, was very adorable!

  • We really enjoyed playing Nintendo and living in a typically japanese home. Unfortunatelly we didn't meet Yoichi personally but the communication was very good, he is very friendly. Thank you for everything!

    Sarah2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Yoichi's apartment is compact with everything you need for a short stay. No real cooking facilities (toaster oven and microwave only), but there are plenty of options close by for eating out. The apartment is so close to everything, all within walking distance. We had a car, so we were a bit concerned about finding parking and how much it would cost, but that turned out easy to find and not expensive (600 yen per 24 hours). Thanks Yoichi for being so great with communication. We had a wonderful stay in Himeji.

  • Great location. 10 minutes walking distance from the station and Then the castle is about a 15 minute walk from the station. The house is a well kept traditional Japanese home. yoichi was so friendly and helpful!

  • Our family of four stayed for one night. Our two girls loved the house and although it is tiny it is clean and much more interesting than a boring hotel room.

  • Cozy Japanese style place, very clean, perfect price / quality ratio, very nice communication with Yoishi and very flexible. Perfect to visit Himeji

  • Great little apartment and an easy walk to the castle and from the station and main shopping district. We had our 4 year old with us so we had three in a bed which was a squeeze, but for 2 people the place is perfect.

    Pierre2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • You can reach the castle easily by foot from the room and self-checkin is really helpful if you arrive at such late times like we did. Everything was clean.

    Laura2016-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Room is quite clean, there is lift to access the apartment which is great. If you have 2 huge luggages then the apartment might get a bit cramp, but since I was there for just a night it is not that bad.

    Pei Jia2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We have comfortable three nights. Nice room, laundry machine (both wash and dryer), small kitchen(we can make our breakfast). BTW, we can see Himeji Castle at first two nights (when it with Spotlight) and nice location to visit every spot by walk or bus.

  • As reviewers have described, this is a backroom of a bar. However, the bar closes around 21:00 (as do most of the surrounding shops, welcome to Himeji!) so you get much privacy at night. The room was nice, well equipped with all of your basic essentials (except for internet). Upon arriving, I met with the host's mother, who doesn't really speak English but was very kind (and pretty!) I believe she lives nearby so it was convenient to find her if necessary. The room was exactly as depicted in the pictures, with the exception that another mattress has now been placed right next to the current bed (I assume to allow more guests to sleep here). However, this does make the room a bit cramped. Nevertheless, this room is for travelers who are out most of the day anyway, so it's good enough to shower, sleep, etc. For the price, convenience and privacy, I'd highly recommend this.

  • It was an amazing stay. Junichi and his wife were absolutely adorable. It was the first time I spent so much time with my hosts, they were very helpful and understanding. They told me about all the interesting things in the surroudings and were always caring about me. We went to a very good traditional restaurant together and they listened to me well even though my Japanese is pretty bad. The house was very clean and welcoming, the room was very pleasant. Junichi even left bottles of water and Japanese alcohol in the fridge for me ! The fragrance in the whole house is still lingering in my mind, the overall impression was very good.

  • Jun is a very considerable host. He and his family are really warm and kind, he picked us at station and send us with his car to JR station. Most importantly, his room is very beautiful, clean and is Japanese style, I felt warm that he put a welcome board in front of his door. I like his home and also be willing to review his house if I will travel to Kobe again.

    estella2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Jun was very friendly and very hospitable, I really liked the room I stayed in it was very traditional. Jun was so helpful as my flight had been delayed from Tokyo, so Jun said it would be okay if I turned up much later in the evening, which was really late but Jun waited up for me, ith a sign of welcome for me outside which was a really nice touch. Overall I would recommend anyone to stay at Jun's place as Jun was very helpful. Thanks Jun

  • Junichi and his family had been attentive and accommodating during my stay. They are genuinely friendly and thoughtful. I booked two times for continuous periods due to my schedule change in last minutes. He reimbursed cleaning fee after. I would love to stay there again. Recommended:)

    Mika2016-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Junichi provides a room on the first floor of his three storey house in which he lives with his family. It is easy to get to, 15 mins walk from Akashi station, which we used as a base to visit Himeji (20min) and Hiroshima (1.5hr). The room was clean, spacious and accommodated Japanese style sleeping. There is also a kettle, fridge and microwave in the cupboards of the room for our use. He also supplied a fast portable WiFi box that came in really handy, and allowed use of two bikes to explore the area! Junichi gave us (my girlfriend and I) an pack with tourist information, and reccomended some places to eat/drink and also left 4 bottles of water in our room. He also checked in on us regularly to ensure we were comfortable and we had some chats about our home towns and our trip. His wife also kindly dropped us off at the train station on our departure! 5star treatment!! Ps. Anybody who stays here should definately visit an Akashiyaki restaurant (a variation of takoyaki) and use the bikes to travel down to the sea to see the longest suspension bridge in the world (Akashi kaiyko bridge)

    James2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Junichi and his family were very hospitable to my fiancee and me, and he provided a lot of information that helped us plan our trip to Awaji island and the remainder of our time in the region. The room was very nice as well, with a toilet and shower room right across the hall.

  • As my first time with AirBnb, I was worried about everything before decided to book. I found so many great reviews on Kiyoko's White Orchid House, so I finally made my mind. It's turned to be one of my best experience in Japan. Kiyoko's house made me feels like stay at my parent's home. Decorated with beautiful furniture, nice and clean at all times. Breakfast in her dining room was a special moment to start a great day. And we also shared our good time in Japan with Kiyoko when we were back home for dinner. Her help on local information, museums and local shopping area is matched to our needs. This is a wonderful stay in my opinion. Thank you for everything. :)

    Shakrit2015-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Kiyoko is the best host you can ever imagined on Airbnb. The house is delicately decorated just like the pictures. Upon arrival she greeted us with a refreshing cup of tea and delicious homemade cookies. We were fortunate to have had dinner with her together. She shared her life with us, which is absolutely awesome, traveling and savoring with good taste. She is elegant, confident and active. Kiyoko even gave us a ride to Arima the next day. We appreciate this wonderful though short experience with her and recommend the place with all heart.

    Zoe2015-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Actually, this is our first airbnb stay, we are so lucky to have Kiyoko as our host! Kiyoko gave us a ride from the station, and introduced us a nice japanese style restaurant, when we finally came the house, is just exactly like from the pic, so lovely, so clear, and make you feel like part of the family. we enjoyed the drink. and talked very late with Kiyoko, and the breakfast at morning make us dont want to leave! what's more, have kiyoko as our host, we not only have a wonderful stat at the white orchid house, but also, have a more clearer thought of life, family, thank you kikoyo, and happy for your daughter's wedding!

Airy house with excellent ocean views. It is about 30 minutes from Kobe, 40 minutes from Himeji, 50 minutes from Osaka and 90 minutes from Kyoto. There is also the Nishi-Akashi bullet train station nearby for those with the JR pass.
It is a 2-bedroom house with spacious dining room/kitchen, laundry area and bathroom (with sweet Japanese toilet seat!) on the first floor and a large living room on the second floor with one bedroom with a double bed and one bedroom with two single bunk beds which can accommodate four people comfortably (six if using the living room sofa bed). In addition, there are balconies on each floor perfect for taking in the view. We also have a free wifi dongle, a projector (for connecting your own laptop via HDMI), foosball table and darts board for family fun!
There are a number of restaurants within walking distance including ramen, steak, all-you-can-eat/all-you-can-drink (2 hours) Korean bbq and McDonalds as well as a 24-hour supermarket and convenience store. In addition, it is a quick walk/train ride down to the Akashi castle ruins, shopping center and the famous Akashi fish market! Lastly, there is Okura Beach, a large fitness center and the Tatsu-No-Yu hot springs all about a 20 minute walk from the house. There is also coin-parking available about 10 minute walk away for 400 yen per day.
  • The house is really well kept, and very comfortable. It gets great light, so it feels really open. The view of the ocean is beautiful. Dan and Kyoko are really friendly people and super responsive with communication. Bring a friend for some foosball fun.

  • We were 3 Friends on holidays to share the entire place. Daniel is a very good host. He takes care about his guests. We chose the place because it is the central point to visit Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe. With jr pass it is perfect. The place is like a modern traditional house. It is clean and suffisant for a family with 2 kids or 4 Friends. We recommend this place

Specious, clean and cozy bedrooms and lounge with amazing views(Akashi Kaikyo bridge which is the longest suspension bridge in the world!) and nice interior and table football. (Actually we really enjoyed it!) There is supermarket and Onsen with waking distance. You can reach Osaka/Kobe within 30min by train. Daniel is a very nice and kind host!

  • Hi. You are probably going to want to stay here. Hiroyuki-san is an excellent host. He's very worldly and has a great perspective and approach to life. We had great conversations about the differences between the East and the West, Shintoism and Buddhism and western religions. He shared his travel stories. I shared mine. We cooked delicious Japanese food together. I saw his rice, potato, and cabbage plots. We went to a fish paste factory, which certainly wasn't on my original list of to-dos but was really authentic and an insight into the local economy. They got me a bike so I could get around town and explore easily. Oh: And his wife is so funny. She laughed at me a lot! I was the only guest, but often he has others. He also hosts university students who stay in a different building but came over once for a big meal together. Overall, it was a great experience in a part of Japan that most just ride by or stop only to see the castle (which is actually pretty cool). I wanted a few days outside of the hustle and bustle of Tokyo but not in touristy Kyoto. My 4 days in Himeji were the perfect window into a Japanese culture and an experience I won't forget.

  • What can I say about my visit to Hiroyuki-san's minshuku? This was a truly unique experience of being immersed in Japanese life and surrounded by awesome people and majestic panoramas. First of all, the guest house was in great condition being a very new build with modern fittings and facilities, including a computerised bath/shower and an entire kitchen/dining area with sunken-floor kotatsu (a real winter luxury). Hiroyuki-san had prepared a bike which allowed me to explore the locality and venture into both Himeji as well as Mount Shosha and Engyō-ji which is the real attraction of the area. After each day of biking and hiking, the guest house and spending time with local university students who would join us for mochi (and mochi-making workshops!) was the perfect way to relax in the evening. Hiroyuki provided breakfast every day (the true definition of a 'bed and breakfast' is still alive) and his wife prepared a delicious, traditional Japanese breakfast on my last day. I also really enjoyed the tour of his farm land and learning about his agricultural past times. A really unforgettable time and I hope to visit Shosha again soon.

  • I had a wonderful stay at Hiroyuki-san's place, the room was spacious and immaculately clean, and Hiroyuki-san and his wife were the best hosts anyone can ask for. The guest house is located in a separate building, with its own kitchen, bathroom and dining facilities. On my second night we made Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, and his wife made divine breakfasts with freshly squeezed orange juice from their own trees. This place is also walking distance to Mt Shosha, a must see in Himeji. Definitely recommended for a genuine homestay in Japan!

  • This is a fairly new guest house (2017), recently remodeled so that it has amenities equal to or better than most hotels, at a fraction of the price! Aside from the facilities, which are very private and quiet, and the breakfasts which were the best we had in Japan, the location is an authentic farming community on the edge of Himeji. This requires a short bus ride from the central train station, but it is worth it to see a different side of Japan. Most important is the host, Hiroyuki, who is a farmer, philosopher, polyglot, gourmet chef and "international man of mystery." He was exceptionally helpful, kind to my son, and gave freely of his time to make our stay enjoyable. I would like to go back to Himeji just to hang out with him and farm for a few more days.

  • Hiroyuki and his wife are dedicated to offering a welcoming respite to all those who visit the Himeji area. He was waiting when I arrived at the bus stop, and I noticed that he had placed signage to indicate where the property is from the bus stop. He was as friendly and accommodating as any other Airbnb host I have ever interacted with. The location was excellent as was the food which Hiroyuki prepared during my stay, and his English is quite good as well as his Spanish & Chinese speaking ability. I absolutely recommend this guest house to any prospective visitors in the area.

  • You can be assured of the warmest of welcomes when you stay at Hiroyuki's charming guesthouse. We cooked with him, he showed us round Himeji and the castle in particular at night-time, and gave us a hearty breakfast before we explored Mount Shosha. Highly recommended.

  • We felt like an honored guest in Hiroyuki's guest house. It is worth staying at Himeji just to experience staying here! A great way to see the tourist sites but also get a genuine local experience. The bus stop is less than a minute walk from the guesthouse and Himeji Castle can be reached in ~15 minutes for less than 300 yen, so while the location feels secluded, it is still easy to access the sights. The hike up Mount Shosha to the Engyoji Temple (featured in The Last Samurai) begins just a few minutes from the guesthouse. Hiroyuki gave us advice on avoiding fees while still seeing the scenic vistas and his wife saw us walking there and even offered to drive us (which we declined since it was so close). We spent the nights learning how to make iconic japanese dishes (Okonomiyaki and takoyaki) with the nearby university students. We even played shogi. We even added some of the locals on steam and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). The breakfasts they prepared in the morning were delicious and enjoyable even to our American tastes. We got to pick our own strawberries and mingle with locals at a nearby cafe with Hiroyuki. Highlight of my trip.

  • I highly recommend Hiroyuki-san's guest house for every visitor. Hiroyuki-san is the best host, who I never ever met. I very enjoy the time when I interact with the different friend in his house. He always treats every tenant as his friend and provides good reception for us. Finally, I will visit his guest house again in the future.

By train 30 minutes from Sannomiya, 45 minutes from Osaka, 75 minutes from Kyoto, and 30 minutes from Himeji. There is a Shinkansen station at JR Nishi-Akashi station which is in proximity. It is also a convenient location to go to Awaji and Okayama
○Stay the night in a traditional Japanese style room. The room that is available for stay is a Japanese style Tatami room which can lodge a maximum of 3 people. It is complemented with an alcove, ceiling light and a sunken kotatsu, which gives the room a traditional Japanese look. Futons will be prepared for bedding. Wi-fi, TV and air conditioning are also available. Next to the room is a kitchen with a dirt floor (doma). I think it will be enjoyable! ○A house built like this is not found anywhere in the world. Our house stands on a hill overviewing the Akashi Kaikyo bridge. Woods and gardens fill the area and full of nature. The house is wooden and has a homely atmosphere. The second floor has a high ceiling surrounded with glass windows, which gives you a wonderful view of the scenery and nature. There is a piano, a fireplace and a deck. ・View that overlooks the ocean and the bridge. ・Living room with an open ceiling.
・Swimming during the summer and fishing is also possible at the near by beach. ・24-hour convenience store is near by. Restaurants in the vicinity includes Chinese, Udon and tempura, Rotation sushi, and Japanese style pasta.
  • Staying with Akihiko San family was an awesome experience. We talked about Japanese culture and music and architecture. Their house design is amazing and really warm and we love enjoying the sunshine in the morning. Akihiko San drove us from the subway station and drove us to dinner place, and Yoshie San made a great breakfast for us. Their kids re all very talented and they re very polite and they played piano for us. We would like to go back and stay with them one day if we have chance.:-)

  • Kowata-san and his family are the best host we've encountered through Airbnb until now. We've received warm hospitality during the stay. Their family were adorable and we had a nice chat with them. Akihiko kindly picked us up at the Maiko station on the day of our arrival. Akihito's wife, Yoshie, prepared delicious Japanese style dinner and breakfast for us, even the bathtub filled with hot water. We also very enjoyed playing with their three kids, sharing our hobbies and interests. We are very impressed by such a happy Japanese family. The tatami for us to sleep was warm and comfortable, being able to enjoy the ocean view and akashi bridge. Also, the transportation is convenient. The bus stop is 2 min walk and directly goes to train station. We felt very lucky to choose this house to stay and had such an unforgettable memory with Akihito's family!

  • My husband, my daughter and I all felt very very comfortable at this full-of-love family. The hostess keeps the house very clean and tidy. We can not fortget the delicious and beautiful breakfast everyday the hostess prepares for us by heart. We fall in love lwith Japanese food. The house is of very good design and we love sitting at the balcony, looking at the sea and the blue sky, with the breeze blowing. We can not forget the family took us to the beach and play. we had a very good time. The little son is very very cute. The family is very nice and easy to communicate. We chat, play uno cards during the evenings and it feels so good. The neighbour is very clean and convenient. Youcan find everything you want. The super market is 10 minutes' walk and the JR statation is about 20 minutes' walk. We love staying with the family and we don't want to leave. we stay 6 days there, and just want to stay there the whole day,We will come back in the near future.

  • Yoshie and family were very kind and helpful. They even came and picked us up in the car when we got lost trying to reach the house on the bus. The bus from the station is only a few stops, if in doubt get off at Maiko elementary school! The house is beautiful and a good insight into Japanese living. The guest space is spacious and comfortable and we enjoyed our conversations with the family in the living area overlooking Kobe. Akihiko and Yoshie were very accommodating and gave some great recommendations for things to do in Kobe and our onward stay in Okinawa. Thank you for our stay Akihiko and Yoshie.
