This newly renovated 3 bed/2 bath home is nestled on the tidal headwaters of Mason's Bay. The Chandler House boasts "all brand-new everything." We took this lovely 1940's Craftsman Style home down to the studs, completely overhauling it, inside and out. Brand new kitchen with with granite counters and all new LG appliances. New GE washer and dryer. High speed wifi with a 55" smart TV. There is a large back deck with a hot shower. Beyond the apple trees is the waterfront with a firepit.
The house is situated on 4 private acres, it is located near the Jonesboro village on Old US Route 1. Only 10 minutes to Machias and 5 minutes to Roque Bluff, it's off the beaten path of the newer US Route 1, which serves the coastline.

  • Thoughtfully and beautifully renovated house - nice touches throughout - well equipped kitchen; plenty of nice towels and comfortable beds. Beautiful property with private walk out to the water; full apple trees with delicious apples - attracted a lot of very happy deer. very convenient location to head in just about any direction - not far from grocery store, restaurants and many beautiful parks. Colin was a very kind and conscientious host. Appreciated that! Would definitely rebook.

  • A great place with great hospitality. Cozy and well kept.

    Josh2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Buddy's Basin, Buddy, and his humans are all terrific, as are Buddy's buddies, Bella and Bernie the cat! Donna and David are excellent hosts and have created a comfortable, clean, and extraordinarily affordable space from which to be a tourist of this fascinating and beautiful part of Maine. I especially enjoyed my conversations with David about Maine (and national) politics, history, and gardening. I expect to revisit and if/when I do, this will be my home (near Columbia Falls, Maine) away from home (in Columbia Falls, Montana!)

  • From the moment we drove in Donna welcomed us and made sure if we needed anything to let her know. The apt. Above the garage was perfect. Fully furnished. All you need is your clothing and food. The full kitchen and grill were great to cook meals. We did get some Lobsters and clams down the rd. And had a feast. Nothing better then fresh maine seafood. The apt is so cute and very clean. David has landscaped the property beautifully. We saw David in the mornings walking the dogs and he always helped us to find places to go see.. we definitely recommend them.

Drink your morning coffee as you walk the farm's picturesque blueberry fields and shoreline. At night, enjoy sitting around a cozy campfire toasting marshmallows. As you enjoy the scent of fir trees, salt air, and the unspoiled beauty of Downeast Maine, Relax. Spend several days with us exploring the farm or as a home base to venture to other locations around Downeast Maine and Canada.
The Elva P. Cabin is one of two rustic cabins nestled in the woods looking out onto the farm. The cabin has two full-size beds, a fully equipped kitchenette, a bathroom with shower, and a front porch for those quiet nights sipping wine or early mornings drinking coffee. The cabin also has it's own outdoor space with a campfire pit and picnic table. Pets are welcomed. If the Elva P. Cabin is booked, please check out our Mary Adeline Cabin at Welch Farm.

Comb the Park's beach, swim in it's freshwater pond, or hike one of it's hiking trails. A grocery store and the walkable downtown Machias is a 10 minute drive away. Several restaurants are a must try in the area. Interested in a two nation vacation, bring your passport. • Great little cabin to stay in on a trip.

  • You must visit Lisa's place. The scenery alone would bring me to this gorgeous farm. To then add accommodations that are quaint, clean easy to access and cute?! This place would sound too good to be true if we didn't visit it for ourselves. If you're looking for remote quiet decompression, this is your spot.

    Ally2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful farm with wonderful hosts! It's close enough to town to have access to groceries, but still rural enough to have wonderful peace and quiet!

    Brandi2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a new, clean camp. I liked that it was close to Machias-restaurants, etc. I stayed one night for business and did a great bike ride around the coastal areas. It would be a good base of operations for beach, sight-seeing, and not far from the Canadian border.

    Donald2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • A great location to explore the area. I would suggest roaming Jasper beach looking for beautiful rocks.

  • Excellent place in a cool location. Would recommend!

    Joe2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Elva P. cabin! We picked fresh blueberries every morning for pancakes, and watched the sun set over Great Cove every evening. It was peaceful, quiet and easy to get to.

  • I had a great second stay at Lisa's cabin with my friend and our dogs. The cabins are so cute with everything you need in the kitchen and bathroom (the shower is nice!). We had a beautiful walk up to the top of the hill to see the view and ate some blueberries along the way. August is a great time to come here!

  • Kim’s farm stay was a delight. She and her husband Don give you a warm welcome and go above and beyond to make sure your visit is great. The Bell tent is spacious, clean, and outfitted with everything you need for warmth and comfort. True glamping pleasure! Steps away from your tent are the blueberry fields, so if you visit in blueberry season (August and September), you can pick and eat all you want. Plus her kitchen shed is a warm retreat for dinner or breakfast. She brings you fresh eggs and blueberry scones, and stocks the fridge with spectacular goat cheeses and goat’s milk, all made on the farm. And be sure to try the solar shower at your tent site. Don brings buckets of hot water (if solar isn’t available during your stay), with a nifty tiny battery powered pump for water pressure. It was so nice! If you find the idea of glamping appealing, try this place, you’ll love it!

  • Such a sweet spot, and Kim is a very kind host offering up the most delicious homemade blueberry scones in the morning and fresh coffee. The tent was nice and cozy despite a rainy night. A very beautiful, peaceful farm-stay!

  • Staying on Kim’s farm was so wonderful! She was there to welcome us when we arrived with the most delicious cheese made right on her farm. My daughter loved being able to interact with all the goats. And in the morning we were spoiled with homemade scones and muffins and blueberries also picked on the farm. Kim is so warm and kind and friendly, I definitely recommend this place!

This charming cottage by the water in Downeast Maine has so much to offer.
The land is the safe place for your heart; the sea is the wild place for your spirit; the sky is the imaginative place for your dreams. With all three right in front of you, you will feel that this is the place for you. The Frisky Fish Cottage sits on a small cove close to the water with a shoreline of roughly 125 feet. Internal and external views of the outside blend into each other; choose the panorama either from the comfort of the sofa or from adirondack chairs outside by the fire pit. From every window or from the unbounded ‘window,’ the view from the sea predominates. When you lay down for a nap, you may see a receded waterline with fishermen driving by in their trucks; when you wake up, you may hear the lapping waters of the incoming tide and watch those same fishermen riding out on their boats. The cottage is small enough to charm but not large enough to overwhelm with its one and half stories. From the loft, look out over the welcoming living room with its cathedral-like ceilings. The open concept design allows the sunlight to dazzle you from the wide windows that overlook the water. The kitchen and a breakfast bar are tucked in a corner - hidden away to be useful but not to intrude on the main grandeur. Or turn to the tastefully decorated loft bedroom with its attached half-bath. A downstairs bedroom and a full bath (with laundry facilities) complete the accommodations. Whether you come here to relax or to work, billowing breezes, beckoning beaches, spectacular sunsets, winter wonders, available amenities and convenient conveniences complete the possibilities.
Downeast Maine is rural, laid back, and a great place to unwind. There is a lot to offer in terms of food, nature, or tourist attractions based on your interests. We are happy to share this with you!

  • Beautiful space with wonderful amenities! Michelle and Dan were great hosts, they left a detailed book of instructions that is helpful to navigate the house. Views are amazing, hot tub was awesome. Bed is super comfy!! Nice kitchen with all the utensils you could need. Fireplaces were a nice cozy touch and we enjoyed playing the board games. Thanks so much for sharing your home!!

  • A wonderful place with gorgeous views and 2 comfy fireplaces. We came during the winter, so they were lifesavers for this southern couple. Checkin was a breeze. For winter visitors, know that many restaurants are closed for the winter season, but 44 degrees north is open in Milbridge and they have excellent food. But Michelle and Dan leave excellent local tips in their well organized binder that keep up with many local eateries and things to do. Loved our stay and would love to come back some time!

Designed to evoke a ship, this stylish 2BD home overlooks the ocean and is surrounded by 30+ acres of woods, wildlife, and area beaches. 12 of these acres include private hiking tails that wend along the water. Hike, kayak, BBQ, explore Downeast working harbors, or just relax on the deck. Enjoy complete privacy just 17 min from town.
The Prowhouse was designed by Machiasport poet and sea captain Phil Rose to evoke the prow of a ship. The home's distinctive, angular 'prow' and its floor-to-ceiling windows overlook Howards Cove, a lovely crescent of ocean water and woodlands cupped in the north by unique Jasper Beach. The Prowhouse is perched atop a 130' cliff on the southwestern arm of the cove and is surrounded by pristine forest. In addition to the remarkable view, our guests enjoy complete solitude — there's only one other home remotely visible and it's across the cove about a mile away. The Prowhouse fits 4 people comfortably. The master bedroom has large windows with a dizzying view over the cliff to the ocean floor below. The second bedroom is smaller but is very cozy; it's walls are covered with blue and gold-colored nautical maps of New England. The downstairs has a handsome living room, dining area, kitchen and bathroom. The style of the home's decor is a mix of mid-century modern and nautical aesthetic, i.e. lots vintage furnishings in teak and brass. While the Prowhouse is newly renovated with all modern amenities, you'll feel as if you've stepped into the 50s or 60s when you walk through the door. For instance, you'll find furniture, art, and design by mid-century Modernists Paul McCobb, Norman Cherner, Percival Lafer, and Curtis Jere. A library corner contains a Danish desk, vintage books, an old rotary phone, an Olivetti typewriter, and a classic Thorens turntable. Most of the paintings and photographs throughout the house are unconventional takes on natural and nautical themes. (Don't expect twee paintings of sea captains and lighthouses when the real deal is just outdoors.) When the sun is out and the weather warm, enjoy the Prowhouse's spacious deck and picnic table at the cliff's edge. The Prowhouse grounds are fun to explore with small paths threading through the trees, along the cliff's edge, up stone steps and into small gorges.
Machiasport, according to the popular travel guide Lonely Planet, is the "real Downeast." So if you stay here, don't expect crowds of camera-toting tourists ( you'll find those 1.5 hours south of us in Bar Harbor.) Machiasport, instead, is for those seeking an intimate and authentic experience of Maine coast culture. The experience first unfolds from the seat of your car; Port Road, leading from the town of Machias to Machiasport, is quiet and unassuming but full of character. The road meanders past marshes, woods, and mudflats; passes stacks of lobster traps, lopsided barns and lobster boats, and resident homes of varying repair and personality. We love trips in and out of town. So will you. Just off the end of Port Road, and down Rose Lane (a quarter mile dirt road through the trees), you'll find the Prowhouse perched atop Rose Ledge. While the home's location is wonderfully idyllic surrounded by acres of trees and wildlife — it's hardly idle; Howards Cove will serve as your own private seaside-theater, presenting you daily with a small parade of lobster boats, seabirds, kayakers, and dramatically expressive clouds. Looking out our windows or standing on Rose Ledge, you'll also see Cutler's distant radio towers that twinkle at night; you'll catch the silhouette of salmon farms against the sea, and, a little farther afield, you'll discover Libby Island Lighthouse whose intermittent flash and foghorn add ambiance to your stay. (Did I say foghorn? Yes, indeed I did. The price we Mainers pay for such traditional New England iconography is, of course, the existence of fog. However, if you're a fan of the Scottish Highlands or misty, medieval forests carpeted in thick mosses and dark tree trunks, you'll find the foggy days an authentic part of the Downeast package. The Prowhouse is surrounded by 50 acres of woods and wildlife, including some rocky beaches complete with caves and vertiginous cliffs. As mentioned before, the Prowhouse is perched upon one such cliff called Rose Ledge (named, like Rose Lane, after the Rose family.) Perhaps "Blueberry Ledge" would be more fitting since in August the ledge is hued in swaths of blueberries. Pick some in the morning and have blueberry pancakes for breakfast. The Prowhouse faces the east so the sunrise is truly spectacular. A clear night sky showcases the Milky Way — or a full moon mirrored by the sea. Beaches: there's a traditional white sand beach 15 minutes away at Roque Bluffs state park. But Howards Cove features more distinctive Downeast geography including a brown sand beach and a cave (melodramatically named Devil's Oven), as well as dozens of shaggy, seaweed-strewn tidal pools and impressive Acadia-esque rock formations — all within walking distance of the Prowhouse. The real gem of our area is, however, Jasper Beach. One of two beaches in the world consisting entirely of polished jasper stones, this surreal beach is just 3+ minutes drive up the road. Feel free to go to Jasper Beach and collect a couple of these handsome stones for souvenirs. Bring a picnic lunch and listen to the strange, burbling sound of the surf as it crashes over the stones. Beyond Howards Cove are the following areas of interest: Starboard Cove: a sleepy, former shipyard good for a morning stroll. Walking distance or short drive from the house. Point of Maine: a slightly longer walk beyond Starboard. More beaches. Quiet and unassuming residential area. More views of the sea. Bucks Harbor: working harbor where you can buy fresh lobster at BBS lobster pound. 5 minutes drive up Port Road. Yurts: search online for The Yurt Foundation for info. A 7 minute drive + 2 mile walk through the woods to a small yurt community. Your hosts can provide directions. Petroglyphs on Clarks Point: ask your hosts about where to search for these historic glyphs made by Passamaquoddy Indians. Roque Bluffs: state park and beach (swimming, kayaking, picnics and hikes) Machias: for restaurants, kayak rentals, local entertainment, and supplies (17 minutes up Port Rd.) Hosts the famed Blueberry Festival in August. Daytrips: - Cutler (for access to the spectacular Bold Coast hiking trails and Puffin tours) - Gardner Lake (fresh water swimming) - Lubec and Campobello Island (This is Canada so bring a Passport! 2800 acre Roosevelt Campobello International Park for FDR's summer home, birding, biking, hiking, boat tours, East Quoddy Lighthouse, and the Bay of Fundy. Fabulous day trip.) - Eastport (charming Easternmost city in the U.S.) - Jonesport and Beals Island (working harbor and nature reserve, golfing) - Moosehorn Nature Reserve (bald eagles and hiking trails)
  • The Prowhouse is a truly special place, with the most generous hosts in Julie and Rich. We were blown away, and could have happily stayed for many more days hiking the property’s scenic trails and digging into the fine book collection. Anyone looking for a refreshing, inspiring stay need look no further. This is it.

    Rebecca2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Julie & Rich provided great recommendations for activities in the area. The house is beautifully curated. One of our best Airbnb stays. We will absolutely stay here again.

    Tony2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Extraordinary location. Stylish, well-appointed, and very comfortable house. The views! A treat to spend a week there.

    Tucker2018-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We chose Prowhouse as a refuge of beauty with full engagement in weather, the ocean and Maine’s forests in winter. I cannot imagine a finer spot. Our best airbnb in over six years of frequent stays in the US and several foreign countries.

    Robert2018-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Prowhouse is truly amazing! The views from the house and its property are beautiful. The house is both immaculately clean and comfortable. We loved waking up to the breathtaking water views every morning and having coffee out on the deck. Julie and Rich are fantastic hosts, and provide so much information on the house and area, along with suggested itineraries to meet anybody’s needs and interests. We initially thought spending 7 days in this location might be too much time, but found we didn’t have enough time to do everything we wanted. We fell in love with the area and left already talking about when we might be able to schedule our next trip to the Prowhouse.

    Katherine2018-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Everything we hoped it would be and more. Very private, clean get away. Already booked it again for next year.

    Stacy2018-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment you walk through the door the views are astounding. Complete privacy and lovely decor. The hiking trails are well marked and the shoreline as bold and beautiful as it gets in Down East Maine. The Prowhouse will not disappoint anyone looking for an elegant getaway.

    Maureen2018-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • If you love nature and a home designed to capture its many moods with grace, style, and comfort you can't go wrong with the Prow house.

You will really feel like you've gotten away from it all in Roque Bluffs. This sweet little cottage has amazing light and views. Sunrises are spectacular and stargazing at night is awe-inspiring. Perfect for a quiet getaway where you can really unplug! The State Park is just 2 miles away. It's a special place in the world with much to explore, but as you will see from our reviews, you may never want to leave our cozy cottage.
A fully renovated one bedroom cottage with a full kitchen, dining area, and seating area. Solid construction that is cleanly decorated with great light.
The house is located on a very quiet road that is great for walking. Water access is 1/2 mile away on Cow Point. You can also go 2 miles to Roque Bluffs State Park for the public beach and trails.
  • Love my stay at the cottage. Perfect location and so peaceful. Would definitely stay there again

  • Charming cabin that was cozy and clean. The location is amazing with natural beauty abound. It made for a perfect stay for a quiet weekend getaway in northern Maine.

    Daniel2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was fantastic for a small, quite, secluded retreat away from the noise and commotion of the city. Big windows and a sliding glass door offer distant views of the ocean, and I saw at least 5 deer grazing in the yard over the few days of my stay. In spite of the relative seclusion, the cabin is only 15 minutes drive from downtown Machias, where there is a good sized grocery store, drug store, fast food, at least 2 pizza places, a natural foods store, wine and cheese shop, banks, etc. Machias is also home to Helen's Restaurant, famous for their fresh local seafood and Pies! Quoddy Head State Park and Boot Head Preserve are under an hour from the cottage as well, they offer some of the most incredible oceanside cliff trails I have ever seen... I highly recommend both for relatively short but truly incredible hikes. Cobscook Bay State Park is also beautiful and Reversing Falls Park is definitely worth seeing for the tidal movement and the wildlife. Finally, there is no television but there is a strong connection to fast/reliable internet so I was able to stream shows and movies to my laptop/tablet without any trouble (the DSL modem/router is in the cabin). Definitely a great stay, I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the area or just get some R&R!

  • We had a fantastic stay! Beautiful cottage, a view of the ocean through the trees, 5 minutes from the local state park and friendly neighbors. We’re already planning to stay again next year.

    Emily2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • If I could give more than 5 stars I would! This cottage was absolutely perfect for a Maine vacation. Comfortable, cozy, clean, and with all the amenities you could want or need. The sunrises were beautiful and the air was fresh. At night you could stare at all the stars in the sky for hours. We could not have asked for a better place to spend our second anniversary.

    Melissa2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is something special. We’d planned to use it as a base to explore the area but it’s such a stunning modern and cute cottage that we just wanted to ‘stay home’. Our hosts made us feel so welcome with thoughtful and generous touches. The kitchen was delightfully equipped for rustling up a delicious pasta which we ate overlooking endless fields stretching to the sea. We were so cosy and comfortable that we had to tear ourselves away. Hope to return one day! Thanks Alice and Cara.

  • Ellie’s Cottage was a great place to spend some quiet time in Maine after a week of hiking. Our favorite part of the property was the huge, private back yard with the ability to stargaze under the most amazing night sky. The house had everything two people could ask for. I would recommend this little house to anyone :)

Small private cozy cabin on the shore of Bog Lake in Downeast Maine. All the comforts of home unplugged from the hustle and bustle of day to day. Elevated panoramic views of the lake for the perfect sunsets, large deck with patio furniture, fire pit for gatherings, grill and kitchen.
Queen sized bed in the master bedroom, and twin bunks in the adjoining bunk room.
Quiet neighborhood with kids, dogs and people around.
  • Beautiful and cozy little spot, very comfortable and great for getting away from the race of life for a short time.

    Dimitrios2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • It's great place that is right on the water. Looking out from the deck you could almost think you're on a boat. Bog lake, despite the name, is no bog. You have a beautiful view down the lake. While there are neighbors, you hardly notice due to the arrangement of the property and the deck, where you'll be spending most of your time, feeling very private. Very peaceful and quiet.

    Kevin2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome time at the cottage! It was well equipped with everything you needed for your stay and was very clean. It was very peaceful and sitting down by the lake at sunset was beautiful. It’s the perfect place to get away and relax! Would highly recommend and we would love to stay again!

Retro Maine-ia is a very unique little apartment with a retro flare to it. It is right on the road to Roque Bluffs state park, sandy ocean beach and hiking trails. It is about a mile from town. It's tucked into a quiet neighborhood with a lovely landscaped yard with sitting areas to enjoy the summer sunshine. We have a 1 month minimum stay. The $40 per night is for a 3 month stay, a stay of anything less is $49 per night.
Our units are perfect for Traveling Nurses, Doctors, Technicians, and Physical therapists. We have had many traveling professionals stay with us and they have all loved our units and have commented on how beautiful and comfortable they are. Our unit locations have also been ideal for their work needs. We've discounted our price to $40 per night to accommodate the traveling professionals during their 3 month stays. Our regular price for shorter stays is $49 per night. We offer more than just a bed and a chair; and a kitchen to cook in. We work very hard to make our units lovely and comfortable and a delight to stay in; a place where it will uplift your spirit to come home after a long day (or night) at work. We also put 100% into making our guests happy and to make sure they have everything they need. That's why we come in weekly to do light housekeeping and to wash towels and sheets, replace paper goods (toilet paper/paper towels) to provide a fresh, clean, bright environment to settle into and relax. We currently have 8 exquisite units for short term leasing, and several more underway. All fully furnished with unique, stylish, homey furnishings and everything perfect for a several month stay. Don't just tolerate any place that you think you can stand to stay in for three months, book a place that feeds your soul and makes our wonderful little town one of your best assignments.
  • Such a special place to stay! Calia and her mother have a spectacular way of creating unique, inviting spaces with such lovely taste. The location is close to town, and a short drive to Roque Bluffs State Park which has beautiful views of the ocean and shoreline, with a mix of colorful boulders and sandy beach. Calia was quick to respond to any needs, and was always thoughtful and very accommodating. She really is a super host!

  • Bear Beach was stunning. The camp is spacious and comfortable and the light throughout the day is lovely. We enjoyed quiet and solitude. We made music and read, we swam in the March ocean and then enjoyed a hot sauna, we watched sunset from the rocking chairs. I also appreciated how fully stocked the kitchen was -- I like to cook when I am on vacation and brought more with me than I needed to. The kitchen has everything you'll need -- including spices, olive oil, salt, pepper, etc. I also found Sue to be a great communicator -- she was fast to reply, clear with her instructions and tips, and her and her family's deep love for this place is clear. Highly recommend!!

Jenny's house is a cozy cottage literally a stone's throw from the ocean. It is nestled in a working harbor with a view of lobster boats, a small island with nesting eagles, and amazing sunset views. The cottage is on a corner of a working farm with sheep and other animals nearby. Walking trails, scenic boat tours, fresh lobster and clams are just outside your door. Jenny's house is perfect for a quiet, Maine get-away in a unique and stunningly beautiful place away from the hustle and bustle.
Jenny's house is a small, modest cottage in an exceptionally beautiful place. The house was owned by a local legend, Jenny Cirone who grew up on nearby Nash Island and was a shepherdess, lobster fisherman, and farmer. For more information about Jenny and Nash Island, see nashislandlight.org
Grocery stores and restaurants are within 15 minutes of the house. These businesses tend to open and close earlier than you might expect (many businesses around here close by 7pm).
  • This was my second stay at Jenny’s House and I can’t say enough good things about both the place and the hosts. It’s a beautiful location, serene, scenic, with plenty of peace and quiet.

    Megan2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • The most stunning part of Jenny's house is the view. The pictures on here don't do it justice. As city dwellers we loved getting away to the country and experiencing a much quieter and slower life. Also on a clear night you can see an incredible amount of stars. I would gladly stay here again.

    Justin2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning sunsets. Beautiful view. Lovely hosts. This place is great!

    Deb2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect the best. As a matter of fact we could not believe how charming the place was. We thought we were at the wrong place, ready to turn around, we saw the name of the house on the black board: Jenny's house. Eleni is a super host and the people around are charming. Best ever!

    Claude2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I stayed here as we were traveling up the coast of Maine for our vacation. We both wanted to really experience Maine's beauty and this exceeded all expectations. We arrived late at night to find the property on a quiet road. A blanket of stars overhead (no light pollution here) and the moonlight glistening on the water directly in front of the property. Eleni came to greet us and showed us around while our mouths were agape. We were floored at how amazing the house and location was. I was so excited to see it in the day that I woke up early to greet the sheep, chickens and the beautiful Maine coast. We could have easily stayed here a week. Eleni was extremely kind and responsive. Highly recommend!!!!

    Tegan2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to stay on the bay! Great location between Quoddy Lighthouse and Acadia National Park with plenty of lobster nearby :)

    Jason2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Elenis place is a cozy cottage with amazing views if the bay. Would love to back soon.

    Linda2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderfull weekend at eleni's house. The only reason of the location to appreciate the quietness and this incredible bayview is enough to go there . The house is really simple and modest, but it does'nt need much more .

Newly and beautifully renovated ocean front cottage with spectacular views of Moosabec Reach from all rooms, in this truly one-of-a-kind home. In addition to the downstairs bedroom, there is a loft bedroom with views of nearby islands. Watch the lobster boats, along with the sailboats. This property is a mere fifteen feet from the shore so you can enjoy the changing tides, an array of shore birds -- eagles, ospreys, and blue herons. Surrounding sea roses infuse the air with their lovely scent.
Jonesport is a small fishing village on the down east coast of Maine. A small fleet of lobster boats and sailboats dot the harbor. Enjoy the fresh clams, and lobsters right off the boat. A bridge leads from Jonesport to neighboring Beals Island, where an array of nature trails await you. Bring your kayaks for water outings.
Jonesport is a beautiful fishing village with access to Beals and Great Wass Island across the bridge.
  • The cottage was a perfect place to get away from tourist. Right on the water the view spectacular. Very peaceful. Would recommend the cottage to friends and family.

  • Absolutely breathtaking views in beautiful well appointed cottage. Amazingly peaceful and quiet. Its hard to imagine but the cottage is even nicer than the photos. It was super clean and cute with stunning views from all angles. The kitchen was large and well stocked with plenty of dishes and cups. There is a photo book with the before and after pictures which show how much work Thomas put into making the cottage as lovely as it is. We cant wait to come back.

    Rachel2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Thomas’ Rosehip Cottage is among the best of the best. Sparkling clean, beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, and very well equipped. Best of all was it’s location on a working harbor in spectacular surrounding sea coast of Downeast Maine. We did not meet Thomas but we so appreciated his attentive and prompt communication. Wonderful!

    Sarah2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • This property is delightful! Very clean and stylish property. I wish we lived closer , so we could return.

    Chelsea2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely home within a quaint and serene location. Awakening to the sounds of the ocean, with a gentle breeze that travels throughout the home was such a calming feature that we loved. We appreciated the privacy and truly enjoyed the character of the home. The unique details throughout the home were the perfect touch. A great deal of love went into creating this home. We were pleasantly surprised by all of the amenities that were offered and realized that we overpacked. Lol. And to our surprise, it was utterly immaculate. Thomas is a gracious and thoughtful host. He kept us informed up until our arrival and was available for questions and concerns. And with his thoughtful heart, he left instructions within the home in case an emergency should arise or, if we had a question about the "simple things" (i.e. How to turn on the tv ☺️). As for the town, we loved traveling along the shore and, meeting the towns people who were very pleasant and friendly. You will enjoy your stay indeed. Thank you, Nicole and Michael

    Nicole2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second year at Rose Hip cottage. As always, very clean and adorable. You cannot get a better view or closer to the ocean. Until next year!!

    Adrienne2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • This little place is an off-the-grid crumb of heaven.

    Lydia2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Rosehip Cottage was the perfect rental in Jonesport. It was as close to the water as we could get and the perfect location for visiting our family. Loved sitting out on the deck watching the boats go by. One thing I really enjoyed was all the things that were provided for us. Things like toilet paper and paper towels of course, but also fire logs for the wood stove, coffee, shampoo and soap, laundry detergent, etc. I don’t think there was anything that we needed that we couldn’t find in the house. The lobster shed is adorable!! There were some chilly days so we spent some time in there to keep warm. Thomas gave detailed instructions and included some local information as well. Check in was simple, with a lock box key, which was great because we got in a little late. Comfortable beds, nicely decorated, and all the comforts of home. We know where we will be staying next time we visit Jonesport!

  • At Sara's, everything is very clean. The house is in a very quiet place and it is very pretty. The rooms are welcoming and very comfortable. On the other hand, the internet is not very fast. We enjoyed Sara's house. Thank you.

    Alain2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Cutest place ever! So clean, lots of beautiful pieces of furniture, lamps, wooden floors, nice kitchen if you want to cook. Everything you need, and close to the Canadian border to visit Campobello, and also close to Acadia National Park. Great value for all that is offered. We had a very comfortable stay. Sarah always responded to our questions. Highly recommended.

Cozy bedroom with private bath and separate entry in an old farmhouse situated on a peaceful, tidal salt marsh. Private setting with trails through 15 acres of woods. Serene surroundings with stunning marsh views.
Room includes a microwave, coffee maker, cooler, and we will provide some form of coffee cake for breakfast.
Experience the quiet life that is Downeast Maine. We see all kinds of wildlife; deer, turkeys, porqupines, hummingbirds and eagles. Explore the unspoiled peninsulas around Harrington. The Schoodic Peninsula, Acadia National Park and Campobello Island are all just over an hour away.
  • Gail was an extremely kind and hospitable host. She was flexible with the arrival time and had no issues with me cutting my stay short by one day. Her place was very nice and stylish and served as a nice getaway for a few days. Gail dropped off cookies and breakfast treats every day which was really very kind of her. I would absolutely revisit!

    Matthew2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • As fine a spot as you will find in the area. Worthy of a visit, like a starred Michelin restaurant. Accommodations stylish, homey, down comforter and lovely woolens on your bed. Pumpkin bread to buoy your soul as the sun rises. The faint whisp of wood smoke from the kitchen some leagues away. A path leading to stunning views of a salt marsh and pine/birch forest rich with lichen and fungi. One could explore for many hours in nearly any season. Host could not be more accommodating, elucidating nor helpful. One of the finest BnB experiences of my 42 years of extensive world travel. Kudos. A++.

  • Gail is a very sweet and wonderful host. She accommodated all our special requests like arranging late checkin, a mini refrigerator and a cooking stovetop. We had a memorable experience cooking on her antique wooden stove. The view of river from her house is so beautiful. She also gave us some excellent suggestions for visiting places around. Every morning she provided us delicious and mouthwatering breakfast freshly baked using vegetables and fruits from her garden. She even offered us vegetables from her garden. The place was sparkling clean and pretty much has everything we needed. We wish to visit her again if we are planning to Acadia next time. We will definitely recommend her to everyone. :-)

Graciously appointed bedroom, comfortably sleeps two. Available in historic, restored, three-story home built in 1840. Within walking distance of Machias downtown, Grange Hall, the University of Maine at Machias, restaurants, shops and trails. note: "The Green Room" is one of four private bedrooms available in the house.
  • Terry was an amazingly kind host with a beautiful and clean home! Her home was the perfect place to come back to at the end of a long cold work day.

    Erica2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Terry is a great host!!! Her fresh made coffee and orange juice lightening our trips. Her house is spotless. I am looking forward to a next trip to Maine so we can stay at her house again.

  • It was very nice and the breakfast is awesome

    Jakob2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Terry's attention to detail in her lovely historic home is to be commended. She was very helpful in our planning of things to do and we were impressed with her excellent coffee. As stated by other guests, her home is immaculate and it was wonderful to wake up to the smell of wood burning in the stove. Much intention has been given to all the details to make this a great airbnb experience.

    Glenn2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, comfortable, down-to-earth, easy to be with Terry.

    Maria2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is an historic home with a wonderful host that is a five star Airbnb. Only only regret is we didn't stay long enough to see the entire area. Terry's home would be one that a person could stay a week or two to benefit from Terry's first class service, which included a breakfast and Espresso to order. The home was exactly as described and spotless. Terry meets you upon arrival which is very comforting. She is a wealth of knowledge on the local area so don't be afraid to ask for suggestions. If we return to this area we would definitely try to book Terry's place.

Built as a secluded get-away retreat, Fulton Lake Cottage gives you the feeling that you have the whole lake to yourself. Enjoy the peace and calm in a cozy home tastefully appointed with authentic Maine artifacts and antiques.
Fulton Lake Cottage is a quaint shingled lake home reminiscent of the many lake cottages of Maine’s Vacationland renown. We have attempted to infuse the spirit of the Maine outdoors with its history of winter and summer sporting camps into our lake home. When you walk in, you will see antique fishing rods and reels, sleds and skates, skis and snowshoes that will remind you of Maine’s offering of recreation in all seasons. Many of these items have been in our family for decades and now have become antiques and collectibles. Fulton Lake Cottage is a cozy home on three levels. The main level is the heart of the home with the generous kitchen and a large family table in one open space. Traditional pine half-panels covers the walls and hardwood floors offer warmth and beauty. The well-furnished kitchen has plenty of counter space for cooking and an island where family members can gather around. The main floor includes one bedroom with a full size bed, dresser and closet. The large bathroom is on the main level as well. Throw open the French doors that are off the kitchen and open to an airy screened porch so you can feel the lake breezes while you’re cooking or relaxing. You can also access the large covered deck from the screened porch. The deck is covered and has plenty of space for outdoor entertaining. Above the main floor are two lofts. Kids love the safely secured ladder that leads to the little loft. This is a small space with a day bed where you can read a book or even take a nap. A set of stairs in the dining area leads up to the big loft. This space has two full size log frame beds and is decorated Maine lumberjack style with buffalo plaid bedspreads. The big loft sleeps two individual or two couples. Downstairs on the lower level is the family room with comfortable leather furniture—two full size couches and two easy chairs. This is a great leisure space in which people can relax and talk or watch DVDs on the flat-screen television. There is a small gate-leg table that can be pulled out for games or puzzles. The lower level also has a gas log that can be enjoyed in chilly weather. The larger bedroom is on this lower level. This bedroom has king-size bed and large closet. Next to the bedroom is the laundry and utility room with a washer and dryer. The lower level also has French doors that walk out to the ground level and is only a few steps away from the path down to the dock and the lake. Outdoors offers more ways to relax. The large covered deck with a hanging swing, outdoor furniture, and an outdoor dining set offer plenty of space to enjoy the spectacular Maine days and nights. Grill out on the deck or bring home some lobster! You can also enjoy the evening weather with a bonfire in the fire pit. Fulton Lake Cottage is surrounded by beautiful evergreens that lay a carpet of needles on the mossy path to the lakeside and scent the breeze with the fragrance of the Maine woods. There is a dock at the waters' edge from which you can fish, swim or launch a kayak.
Fulton Lake Cottage is set on a 3 acre wooded lot with no views of neighbors' homes from the house.
  • Love, love, love this home! Great spot. Amazing kitchen. We hope to be back!

    Justin2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Lake House was nestled in pine trees with no one on either side of the property. The house itself was nicely decorated, had every possible thing you would need, just as if you were in your own home. The owner was exceptional. Kind, and very accommodating. He would respond back right away to any concerns we might have and went above and beyond for his guests. I hope to rent from him again next year. We had a wonderful place to stay and the weather and the Lake were amazing. Would have liked to stay another week but it was already rented. You will be treated well if you book this very private and special Lake House

    Diane2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Fulton Lake Cottage. It was exactly as described, plus the kitchen was well-stocked with utensils and appliances. There was even a KitchenAid mixer that we put to good use more than once. This cottage is pretty secluded so keep in mind that restaurants and stores are about 20 minutes away. Acadia is under 2 hours away, and Campobello (Canada) is about an hour away. We loved listening to the Loons on the lake in the evening. Thanks for a great stay.

    Keith2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very quiet and serene location. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. Great hiking trails in the area.

    Susan2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Richard's cottage is beautiful. It was clean and organized. He made sure that we had everything that we needed for our stay. He was also quick to answer any of our questions. We had a great time kayaking on the lake. The beaches were a good distance away. There were some great spots nearby that we could explore. Richard also provided us with a list of locations that we could visit while we stayed at the cottage. We would definitely book another stay at the cottage!

    Fanny2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Richard’s Lake House is perfect, located on a quiet, beautiful lake. Lots of space and all the amenities one could think of! You won’t be disappointed with your stay!

    JenniferMy3sons2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Richard is a gracious host. The house was clean, spacious, and comfy. Kitchen had all gadgets and utensils one would need. We loved the screened in porches - screens are intact and well maintained. The mosquitoes don't get in! We really appreciated that linens were provided. (Not all cottages in Northfield provide linens!) Well worth the $$$!

    Jill2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • If your looking for that spot just off the grid in a pristine environment this is it. The cottage was amazing, you'll spend every moment enjoying that porch. If your considering booking, do.

The Hammond Trust cottage offers visitors a true Downeast coastal experience. Enjoy the ocean views from the deck, and experience the quiet of this secluded getaway. There's plenty of room to entertain your family and friends.
The Hammond cottage was left in a trust by the original owners, George and Beatrice Hammond after their passing. The property is managed by their daughter. Linda Hammond Spaulding. The Hammond family have enjoyed the property for decades, and it was the hope of George and Bea that others would enjoy it for many years to come. Enjoy the ocean views from the deck, and experience the quiet of this secluded getaway. There's plenty of room to entertain your family and friends. The large deck has a picnic table, plenty of seating, and a grill to prepare some of your favorite summer foods. The master bedroom, located on the first floor, has a queen bed and sliding glass doors overlooking the cove. In addition to the two other bedrooms, there is a loft with bed, and additional bed in a room off the living room. The cottage comfortably sleeps 8. Bring your kayaks and explore what the coast offers. Comb the secluded beach to see what treasures the Atlantic left for you. And there is no lack of road and trails which allows you to explore on land with your mountain bike or by foot. Internet access. Dishwasher, washer, & dryer. Gas grill. Check in is at 4:00 pm. Check out is at 10:00 am.
The house is located on a private road and secluded but near the necessary amenities
  • This place was perfect, we had everything we needed, great views to wake up to, short drive to Acadia and lots of games, puzzles and cards to occupy down time. Would absolutely stay again.

    John2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Linda’s home is a picturesque cross between a cabin and lakeside cottage. There is plenty of space for activities indoor and out to help us disconnect from our electronics. We did lose power once or twice during some large passing storms but the house was well equipped with candles and puzzles keeping us perfectly content. The drive is beautiful to get there and the views are pretty spectacular. If you want to relax and disconnect (our cell service was pretty spotty to nonexistent), this is definitely the place to go with good hiking, sightseeing and yummy lobster rolls not too far off. Thanks Linda for a great stay and quick communications!

    Wallis2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful relaxed weekend enjoying the secluded beauty of this charming cottage looking out over the aptly named Pleasant Bay. We took an easy day trip to the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse and to Campobello (brought passports of course) and had a fascinating tour FDR’s cottage and the area. A wonderful time was had by all!

    Dennis2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely home oceanside sets you up to refresh and fully take in a peaceful breath of fresh air!

    Roger Maryann2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay and the description details are all accurate. We know the Maine Coast well and it is hard to find houses this nice and this well located. I brought a cross bike with me and was rewarded — many of the surrounding roads are dirt and gravel and run along the water or through really nice woods. All needed kitchenware and glasses are here. Video player, games and puzzles, nice artistic touches to the house and rooms. As disclosed by the owner there is no internet or cable and it is a mile and a half to a consistent signal. Supermarket relatively close.

    Terry2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • We always enjoy staying here. The location is incredible! The home is roomy and very charming.

    Jason2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our 4th year at the Hammond Cottage. The location continues to be stunning. Amazing views, great private beach (shared with one other house) to gather sea glass and if you are brave swim. It is definitely off the main road but beautiful Guard Point is a great place to base yourself to explore Downeast Maine. The cottage is charming and Linda finds ways to improve it with nice little touches every year. We will be back!

    Craig2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a great location if you want privacy and a chance to unplug from the real world. We enjoyed the seashore and watching the tides. We would highly recommend this home.

The Kelley Lodge is close to Great Wass Nature Conservancy and hiking trails, Backfield Park with beach access, Sandy River Beach and the Bayview Takeout, recently voted Best lobster roll in Maine and Massachusetts by USA Today. You’ll love the Kelley Lodge because of the ocean front views where you can see all of Moosabec Reach and lobster boats. Guests will enjoy the friendly small town atmosphere. Great place for honeymooners, families, or solo adventurers.
This house belonged to my Great Aunt and Uncle and is 200 years old. It was floated over to its current location from near by Head Harbor Island. All or the rooms have been newly renovated, but still with the older rustic feel. There is a beautiful sun porch on the east side of the house overlooking Moosabec Reach and the other surrounding islands. The kitchen has a fully functioning gas stove, oven, coffee pot, and toaster which can accommodate to all your cooking needs. The house has a heat pump to warm you up on the cooler Maine nights, along with plenty of cozy blankets. The living room has a flat screen TV with over 100 DVD's and Blu-Ray movies to choose from. There is also a movie shop to rent movies just minutes from the house. There is Wi-Fi access at the house, but no cable or satellite. The master bedroom includes a full size bed, walk in closet and a dresser. The second bedroom has a full size bed, a closet, and dresser. The house is cozy, quiet, and perfect for couples, families, honeymooners, or even a solo adventurer.
The house is located on the quiet island of Beals, right in the heart of Downest Maine. The island offers the beautiful Great Wass hiking trails, kayaking, and a sandy beach located at the Backfield Park. For a great Maine experience guest need to visit the Bayview Takeout. With fresh local seafood, burgers, salads, ice cream, and so much more, this place ia a must!! The mainland of Jonesport also offers many things for guests. There is a grocery store, hardware store, and 2 convenience stores.
  • This is a great spot with amazing views and a very comfortable house. The enclosed back porch has a full view of the water and when the tide is in-- it is just beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay and went walking on all the local island parks.

    Ellen2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint and clean cottage, real fishing village kind of vibe.

    Michael2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, fabulous view. Low-key and flexible hosts. Short walk to one of the best seafood take-outs in New England. Well provisioned in kitchen and bathroom. Recommend guests seek out local seafood docks for lobsters and mussels. Best communication is by email.

    Chrisine2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible views of the harbor, make sure to take time to explore the rest of the island and the mainland in this area for over-the-top Maine coast experience!

    Ronald2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • UNBELIEVABLE LOCATION. Frank was so quick to reply to every question we had and gave tons of great suggestions. There’s tourist/trinket selling downeast, and then there’s real downeast. This is 100% real downeast. All that being said, the place is modern, immaculate, and is equipped with smart TV’s. All in all, loved the place, the takeout stand was delicious, and I hope we can return sometime soon.

    Marc2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Quiet, clean, comfortable and welcoming! Plenty of space and the view is beautiful! Wonderful preserve right on the Island, and other hikes very accessible!

    Jessica2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The place was like in the photos. We were very good there. Relaxing. And in addition, there is a small canteen just around the corner with lobster rools and very good ice creams. Beautiful stay

    Adèle2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here. The cottage was cute and a great location. We did quick day trips to Cuttler Coast Reserve Lands, Roque Bluffs and the Great Wass Reserve. Also check out the reverse falls at Cobbs Cook Bay at high tide. We saw an adorable seal there! The dinner next door has good food and ice cream.

One Bedroom camp that will fit all your needs for relaxation or a place to base your explorations of Downeast Coastal Maine
It is a one bedroom camp with all the amenities tucked in the woods but accessible to all Downeast Maine has to offer
The joys of being of the beaten path but close enough to get there when necessary
  • Clean cozy stay. Nice to have laundry in unit. Quiet and private.

Hot water on demand with a cozy propane fireplace. Not far from Machias or Acadia. Grocery store nearby.

The Sweet Pea cottage is on a private sandy beach with the most spectacular sunrises, best beach combing for sea glass and a great escape from the chaos of a busy life. There is adventure if wanted (hiking, boating, etc.), or simply cozy up with some great books, or even pull out a paint brush or two. Great bird watching also, bring your binoculars! The Sweet Pea affords simple pleasures with a close-to-nature experience. We would love to have you experience the summer in Downeast Maine with us.
  • Sweet Pea is the perfect cottage for two on the Maine coast. It’s on a beach that’s super for walking almost every day, and it’s warm and snug when the wind blows.

Spend several days with us exploring the farm or as a jumping off point to venture to other locations around Downeast Maine and Canada.
The Mary Adeline Cabin is one of two rustic cabins nestled in the woods looking out onto the farm. The cabin has two full-size beds, a fully equipped kitchenette, a bathroom with shower, and a front porch for those quiet nights sipping wine or early mornings drinking coffee. The cabin also has it's own outdoor space with a campfire pit and picnic table. Pets are welcomed. If the Mary Adeline Cabin is booked, please check out our Elva P. Cabin at Welch Farm.
Roque Bluffs is a small coastal town along the Englishman's Bay with a population of 300 and located about mid way between Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor and St. Stephen, New Brunswick Canada. Lobster fishing and Blueberry farming is still a major source of revenue here. Located near the farm is the Roque Bluffs State Park. The park truly remains undiscovered by the masses. Comb the Park's beach, swim in it's freshwater pond or hike one of it's hiking trails. A grocery store and the walkable downtown of Machias is a 10 minute drive away. Several restaurants are a must try in the area. Interested in a two nation vacation, bring your passport. We are 1/2 hour from Campobello Island, Canada (home of President Roosevelt's cottage) and 1 hour from New Brunswick, Canada
  • We loved our stay at Welch Farm! Just a half hour walk down to the state park/beach and its many trails, and a quick jaunt up the hill and through the blueberry barrens at the farm for an amazing ocean view. The cabin is very comfortable, cozy and tidy, and it was wonderful to get away from internet/television and to instead read books and play games as a family. As we left our son asked, "Can we come back again next year?" We hope so!

    Jennifer2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin on the farm! It was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Lisa recommended some local restaurants (we loved Helen’s and devoured the blueberry pie) and we visited the state park down the road. We would definitely stay here again, thank you!

    Kate2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Quite, peaceful and comfortable. Great local views, the vivid night sky is breathtaking!

    Keith2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's cabins were a perfect fit for our family. We had a nice time around the fire after walking down to a scenic ocean view (and encountering local wildlife on the way.) We enjoyed learning about her family farm and how blueberries grow wild. Great nights sleep for all - well done!

    Todd2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a location. If you are looking for a peaceful, simple getaway where you can see the stars at night, this fits the bill. Loved walking the farm tracks and taking in the coastal view from the top of the hill. Well-situated for a visit to the Cutler Preserve Bold Coast hiking trail (a must-do). If you are visiting with a dog, be aware that there are porcupines on the property - my dog found out the hard way! But it all ended well and we all enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

  • You will enjoy the quiet, rural location and Lisa's friendly attitude. The cabins are simple and visually rustic, but tightly built, clean, and very comfortable. You might bring your own reading lights as the cabin lights are dim.

  • Beautiful cottage looking out onto a sheltered bay on the Maine coast. Wonderfully quiet and peaceful in the offseason - a great place to get away and relax. It's about a 15 minute drive into the town center, where there are some small shops, restaurants, a supermarket, and a pharmacy. Would gladly return!

  • Well laid out clean cottage with bay views much better than profile pix. Large sunny kitchen. Living room looks out to island-dotted bay to watch tides, gulls, and clam diggers. Quiet bedrooms downstairs ( no fridge noise), and large modern laundry room ( better than home!). Lots of Maine-centric books, as well as birding books and binoculars. Awesome fast internet (50 Mbps) and cable tv. Live lobster shop just a few miles away. All you need to hang out Maine-style!

  • Ricky was great to deal with, house was a perfect fit for us. Wonderful location with stunning views. Beds were super comfy too! Thanks Ricky!

  • My husband and I absolutely loved this special little cottage on the water. We really want to go again next year, and hopefully stay longer next time. It's a clean, comfortable cabin with a gorgeous view, pretty flowers and grasses out every window, and sweet ocean breezes sweeping through the rooms. It is both a great home base for exploring the area, and equally great if you want to relax on the deck or down by the water with a good book or a glass of wine. Absolutely first rate.

  • Ricky's cottage by the sea is truly beautiful. Our family of five including a one year old had a blast staying at his place. He really has truly thought of everything. From spices in the cabinet, ice already made in the trays, binoculars to look out over the sea, books to read and games to play. Everyone felt at home and the kids were sad to leave. If you are looking for a comfortable laid back place to call home for the weekend. Don't hesitate.

  • Very clean and super comfortable - the water view is amazing and there were deer walking through the property in the mornings and evenings. Kitchen, living room, bathroom and office space upstairs (main floor), and the 2 bedrooms and a laundry room downstairs. Both bedrooms look out onto the water. There is a great home style restaurant about 10 minutes away called Helen’s, the pie there is fantastic.

  • We would highly recommend staying at Ricky's place. The cottage contains all the necessary amenities. A great location for trips to Acadia, Bold Coast and Campobella. One of our favorite activities was star gazing from the back deck. We counted 20 plus shooting stars one evening! We also enjoyed the ATV rides down to the beach front during low tide. The kids found numerous crabs of all sizes. A great spot to experience downeast Maine.

There are several hiking trails located in Cutler that are only a 20 minute drive from the house. The Famous Machias Wild Blueberry Festival in August! And don’t miss the Downeast event of the year – the annual Machias Wild Blueberry Festival in Machias (Aug. 14-15, 2015). This is a fun-filled celebration of the blueberry. The Downeast region produces nearly 85% of the world's blueberries, and the residents of the area are proud of that fact and it shows. There’s no lack of exciting events for everyone at this event – a Main Street parade, blueberry farm tours, magic shows, fabulous food, fireworks, crafts and fine art by regional artists, live music and, of course the blueberry pie-eating contest!
  • Such a beautiful and charming home. Ed is super nice and the home was very well equipped. The views are just amazing.

  • This is a wonderful private cottage on a tidal bay. We were so happy to stay there and experience th peace and beauty of down east Maine. There’s a lot to explore in this area and This cottage is an ideal place to stay!

  • Ed's cottage is steeped in the 19th century with art, antiques, and books about Maine. Machias is a few minutes' drive for any necessities or food. It is close to the road but the focus is on the tidal flats and the natural beauty in all directions. It was a memorable romantic vacation.

    Steve2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage on a beautiful tidal estuary. This is a wonderful little gem. We so enjoyed our stay in this lovingly decorated shoreland cottage. Even on a foggy or rainy days it was a pleasure to stay here. The little galley kitchen was outfitted with every item needed for whipping up great meals. The linens were comfortable, hot water abundant. Excellent WiFi and the ability to access Netflix, combined with a nice selection of local interest books and a good music selection were much appreciated. Best of course was the view out the many large old windows to the shoreland just off the deck...the view of tiny green islands, shorebirds and the ever changing tidal scene made for a relaxing and restorative stay. Ed's attention to detail made sure we were well taken care of although we never saw a soul and had our complete privacy. We will return!

  • What a lovely space! It was great chatting about both coasts and terry had great recommendations; including where to get my tire fixed. Very sweet kitty and pups as well. Would be a great place to spend a long weekend.

    Anna2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We were happy to be back at Terry's! It was a delightful stay with a delightful host and the best cup of coffee in Maine!

  • Terry was the perfect host. Friendly, knowledgeable and a delight to chat with. Her home was sparkling clean and super cozy. It was the perfect stop before hiking the Cutler Coast. The next time we venture Downeast, we will most certainly stay with Terry!

  • We had a wonderful experience and would go back in a heartbeat! In fact, we came back again this year (2019) after staying twice at Terry’s in 2015! Beautiful architecture, homey and friendly ambiance with friendly pets and a respectful, fun loving host! Thank you, Terry!

    Louise2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, good hostess, clean and has easy walking access to Machias.

    John2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Terry is a wonderful host and you will thoroughly enjoy your stay in her beautiful farmhouse. The place is sparkling clean and full of character, as well as a full service espresso machine (like one you would see at Starbucks). She knows all the best spots in town to grab a bite and genuinely took care of me--even connecting me with her daughter who is on a similar career path for mentorship! If you're choosing between other options in Machias, let me be the first to tell you to pick this one.

    Tara2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
