Jicaral Vacation Rentals

Just booked in Jicaral

Beautiful, private villa with a fabulous ocean view and a secluded, infiniti pool. Very popular villa with both honeymooners and retired people. It is a prvate subdivision with 26 villas with support from rental manager and other staff. The villa is almost equal distant from both Liberia - LIR and San Jose - SJO airports. I believe it is easier to drive south from Liberia airport on a straight, scenic and paved highway.
The 3500 square feet villa is on a very private, 2/3 acre lot with ocean and rain forest views. The beautiful swimming pool is partially shaded by a picturesque "Corteza Amarillo" tree. The villa has "Almond Wood" hardwood floors in the living area including bedrooms. The full kitchen has black granite counter tops. All appliances, pots, silverware, china and coffeemaker are included in the kitchen. The gazebo has both gas Bar-B-Q and 4 burner cook-top with ocean views. Master bathroom has 2 large bowl sinks, large tub, bidet and large windows with a view of the rain forest. The house a large, flat screen TV, amplifier with whole house, surround sound, speaker system. The house has 10 fans and air conditioning. The large master bedroom has a king bed and the second spacious suite has a full bath with two queen beds. The house is on a hill top with wonderful 120 degree views of Nicoya bay and the hilltop location gives one a unique sense of Privacy with no neighbor to look in. The subdivision is 3 miles from the ferry station but it is advisable to rent an SUV so short day trips to Nicoya, Samarra, Carillo, Tambor, Paqueras ( Tortuga island snorkeling ) can be done. Renters have access to a near by grocery and liquor store. The store also provides DVDs and books free of charge. Concierge service is also included. The "Roma del Mar" development has 2 private beaches and a private pier for fishing. There are numerous beaches close by (Playa Blanca 5 kms away) and a golf course at the Tambor Bay. A one time payment of $100 is required for cleaning the villa both before and after the rental. All day maid for cooking is available through the manager and a massage specialist manicurist/ pedicurist available - reservations through management. . The internet access and the router is free. Location Description: Playa Naranjo, Puntarenas, Costa Rica (next to Cabo Blanco on (website hidden) map), Central America. Fly to Liberia Airport (Code: LIR). Two hours drive from Liberia airport and 5 minute drive from Puntarenas/Playa Naranjo Ferry.
The neighborhood is private, quite and away from busy tourist spots with plenty of things to do in the area. Our rental manager has a long list of optional tours
  • This was the vacation of a lifetime! We (a family of three, Mom and two twenty-somethings) highly recommend this villa to anyone who isn’t afraid of being off the beaten path and wants to experience the real Costa Rica. A one to two hour drive from most anything touristy, this insanely beautiful and spacious house is your own private piece of paradise. The views are absolutely astounding, the privacy can’t be beat, and the amenities are truly first class. One of our favorite features was that the whole house, inside and out, was wired for sound, so you can plug in your iPod and play your music, really enhancing the relaxing atmosphere and without fear of bothering the neighbors. You can walk down to the beach from the house, but it’s a little rocky there. Take a ten minute drive to Playa Blanca and enjoy a sandy swimming beach that the locals enjoy. Driving was fun and really gave us a taste of what life in Costa Rica is like, so if you are more traveller than tourist, that’s a plus! Make sure you take time to enjoy the house, but also take some adventures to beaches, ziplines, etc. You really don’t need to stop in Nicoya at the Maxi Pali for groceries, the shop at Roma del Mar is stocked well. There aren’t many local restaurants, but the ones that are there are phenomenal. Raj and Arlene were very communicative and extremely helpful—made me feel very comfortable planning this trip - an absolute pleasure to work with. Don’t miss out on this amazing place!

  • Absolutely fantastic!!!! 5 Stars!!!! We loved our stay! It is a very beautiful home, has amazing views, excellent service, just perfect. Raj was very prompt in his communications. Arlene, who manages the property, also answered all of our questions and went above and beyond to make sure we had a good stay. The house was very clean and well maintained. The pool area was immaculate. The neighborhood was quite nice, with lots of birds and nice areas to walk around. Highly recommended.

  • This was my boyfriend and My first time traveling to Costa Rica. When we arrived to the villa we were blown away by its beauty. The house was very clean, had more than all the essentials, a large variety of spices, and everything to make for a comfortable stay. The villa is in the middle of the jungle steps always from private beaches. Before we arrived the agency gave us a list of activities and they set up a kayaking tour and massages for us. Our massages were in the back of the villa over looking the ocean and the kayaking tour was one of our favorite days in Costa Rica. There is a mini mart that is a three minute walk away with fresh fruits and everything else. If your looking for a place to get away and enjoy one of the most incredible views you may ever see then look no further!!!

  • We loved this villa. Raj was a good communicator and the local hosts and managers were responsive and welcoming. The villa was absolutely gorgeous with spectacular views. Plan a 4 wheel drive to get up the hill.

  • What an amazing place and view! The Villa is a modern, beautiful home overlooking the Nicoya bay and although it is part of the Roma del Mar development, it feels very private and secluded. The spacious and modern home is very comfortable with everything you need to have an enjoyable stay. You can take in one of the best views in Costa Rica from the wall of windows or from the fabulous pool and patio. The only downside to having such a beautiful place is that it makes you want to stay "home" and relax instead of getting out into the rest of the area. However, the visits to local beaches or the activities like snorkeling, fishing or a day trip to an island are definitely worth it. Another huge benefit of renting this place is that Raj and the team at Roma del Mar are excellent to work with an very responsive. Two tips for a successful visit: first, stop at one of the towns for supplies and groceries on your way in... While the small store inside Roma del Mar is great, the only "real" grocery store is about 20 KM away. Second, a 4x4 is helpful (though not essential) given the rugged state of the roads in and around the Roma del Mar development.

  • I am not normally a long reviewer, but I will gladly make an exception for Raj's villa. The pictures do not do this place justice. It was absolutely beautiful. Raj was extremely helpful every step of the way and had us exompletely prepared for our stay on this paradise. Between helping put us in contact with the people who ran the villa, giving lists of what to bring and what to expect, we were able to just relax and enjoy our trip. I will recommend this place to anyone I know looking to go to Costa Rica.

  • We had a wonderful time at the villa. Our favorite part was swimming in the pool and gazing out at the incredible views. If you are looking for a relaxing hideaway in a beautiful location, this is the place for you.

Island without inhabitants, dedicated to the protection of wildlife refuge, conservation of species and practice healthy crops based on the philosophy of permaculture. Being on an island without inhabitants made the place a unique and magical experience, full contact with nature and coexistence without contamination factor is a unit value. We base all elements located there, drinking water, private shower, internet, kitchen.
  • We spent a weekend camping on Isla Bejuco at Laura's and Mack's place. The communication prior the trip was very smooth and Laura was very helpful in providing us with necessary information. They offer boat transportation to the island which is very adventurous; and they even got fresh fish from the neighborhood island for us to grill in the evening. They run an interesting project on the island and are very pleasant to talk to. Definitely recommended for an alternative trip! We enjoyed a lot, thank you both!

Beautiful private vacation home in El Angel of Playa Blanca, Playa Naranjo, Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Breathtaking views of the Gulf of Nicoya, islands, ocean and Tropical Dry Forest. Infinity pool, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms totally equipped.
A prívate location minutes away from beautiful beaches and natural reserves in a totally equipped luxurious home with breathtaking views of the Gulf of Nicoya, ocean, islands, mountains and Tropical Rain Forest
It is very prívate and has unique views in the area. It is surrounded by nature and very close to various beaches of the Gulf of Nicoya. The Gulf and Peninsula of Nicoya are known as one of the few “blue zones” in the world, where there is a high concentration of people over 90 years of age boasting great health with physical and mental activity.
  • The host and the manager Raul was amazing, he did everything for us from making a number of different reservations, he even help me plan a surprise wedding anniversary vow renewal, driving us around and full knowledge of Costa Rica, the house is extremely beautiful and the views are priceless, we had a wonderful time and only regrets was when our vacation was over.

    Carolyn2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • VERY accomodating!!! VERY attentive!!! Edward made sure everything was perfect before and during our stay. Raul is a godsend!!! He made our trip sooo much better, from taking us grocery shopping to deep sea fishing. He even cooked the fish for us. His recommendations were top notch!

  • My husband and I booked Ala Blanca Hills for a 32 day period. It was the worst vacation home rental that we have experienced in our extensive travels. From day one there were problems such as the refrigerator not working, the coffee maker plugged, light in the master ensuite did not work and the sink faucet only provided a trickle of water. We were told to expect some ants but what we encountered was an infestation of biting ants that we tried to take care of both inside and outside. It went downhill from there. Inside the house the couch and chair cushions were filthy. The Charcoal barbecue grill was heavily laden in greasy residue and was very rusty making it unsafe to use. Their are no screens on the patio doors and several screens on the windows leave gapping holes where bugs come in the evening when the lights are on. With air conditioning in the bedrooms only the ground floor gets unbearably hot due to lack of air circulation The pool was leaking and by about the 14th day of our stay the water level would drop by 6 to 8 inches of water every 12 hours. Due to the water shortage at the property the water level in the pool could not be kept topped up. The pool had to be repaired leaving it unavailable for six days. We could not stay while the pool was undergoing repair. We elected to travel to other locations and incurred unplanned incremental travel expenses. Other issues included a total lack of privacy. The Property Manager, Raul who is tasked as the key contact person would show up at all hours of the day and evening many times without notice and would enter the house or pool area. We understand he has a responsibility to check on things but at the very minimum a text notice would be the proper thing to do. We had agreed to clean the pool and water the gardens so that should have minimized the unplanned visits. The property is located in an area that (according to several local Costa Ricans we spoke to) has a very high incidence of grass and brush fires (set by the locals) particularly in the dry period of January to May. These got out of control several times during our stay. One week before we left there was a raging fire that came up well within 5 feet of the fence on both sides of the house. The fire truck came, we contacted Raul when we saw the fire and he came by but the left before it was out. We texted him to let him know there were residual burns and a tree branch had fallen and was lodged in the fence and was a fire hazard. He asked us to hose it down with water. The next day a larger tree fell on the fence and onto the pool deck. The razor wire above the fencing was pushed...

  • This house has an incredible view of the bay. It is a short trip down to the beach where there is a laid back bar. Not terribly far from Montezuma, Jaco, and other destination cities. Lots to find and do if you look. I would highly recommend having a rental car, that must be 4x4, and you must be adventurous and prepared to drive in off-road conditions. There are so many great views and places to enjoy in the region. Driving gets dusty, pick up some ant spray or ant traps and don't leave food out, and call Raul with any issues because he's the nicest person you'll ever meet!

  • What an awesome home! Our host and staff were most accomodating! The views were phenomenal and very comfortable furnshings. Although off the beaten path, the roads were easily navigated and beautiful scenery along the way from Liberia. Raul could not have possibly been more generous with his time & knowledge of the area. From dining recomendations to a private fishing charter and excursion to Tourtuga Island, it was our pleasure to know him! The home is roomy and modern, allowing lots of roaming space for our party of 8. I highly advise checking into this beautiful home and an experience of a lifetime! Thank you Sergio & Raul!

  • The house is absolutely beautiful, it's exactly like in the pictures and the view is stunning!!! The property manager, Raul, helped us get an awesome tour to Isla Tortuga. The owners were great, always thinking about how to make our stay even better.

    Fabiola2016-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house is spectacular, the view, the internal finishing, the pool... 5 stars. Great attention by Raul, he was really helpful for every need that we had. Our only complaint is about the roads. Those were in pretty bad condition when we arrive the house. Later on, during the week, there was a crew working on them, and they improve significantly. That´s the only one weak point of this house.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the finca. It was one of the best experiences we made throughout our trip in Costa Rica. The architectural style of the finca is stunning. The infrastructure was great, big shower with provided towels and the bed even had a mosquito net. Janine and Bernard were very cordial and helpful. As we didn't have a 4x4, they guided us safely to the finca. The breakfast was offered in their own house and it was delicious. We would recommend a night in the finca to all of our friends who are going to visit Costa Rica. A really unforgettable experience that is worth much more than any penny - thank you.

  • We LOVED our time at Finca Cantarana! From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed, comfortable and at peace in the beautiful surroundings! The breakfast was so wonderful and we truly enjoyed all of the beautiful views and active wildlife around us. Definitely a great place to check out :)

  • What an absolute beauty!! The drive up to finca cantarana is real nice, very relaxing atmosphere and super hosts. The place is great to visit and wake up hearing the monkeys. Hope we are Lucky enough to have the possibility visiting again

  • We stayed 1 night in one of Janine & Bernard's bungalows - what an experience ! We wanted to stay near the Playa Naranjo Ferry but couldn't find a nice hotel or B&B on site so we decided to look just a bit further (only 15-20 min away by car) and we are so happy we chose Finca Cantarana. It was so quiet (you could only hear the birds) and so relaxing (no wifi), beautiful views were surrounding us and it was very comfortable. We had breakfast at Janine & Bernand's house which was located further up the hill and we had a lovely chat while eating homemade food and juice. Toucans and hummingbirds were flying in front of us and eating papayas from the trees. Everything they built was done with great taste and this is a place you need to go if you love nature. Thank you so much Janine et Bernard for your hospitality. Lea & Nicolas

    Lea2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome stay at Finca Cantarana! We stopped at Janine & Bernard's bungalow on our way down to Montezuma and had a beautiful stay! Their bungalow sits right in the middle of stunning nature and is beautifully built. A big bathroom (with towels), a cozy bedroom with a mosquito net and one additional room, which we didn't use. The absolute highlight is the terrasse with two comfy deck chairs, where we spent the afternoon watching Colibris and other birds and listening to the sound of nature. There is no wifi, which didn't bother us. There is a fridge to store food and drinks in and Bernard even brought us some dishes since we brought some groceries. Janine and Bernhard made us a really nice breakfast at their home (just up the hill), which was lovely and we had a really nice chat, getting some insider stories of the life in Costa Rica. I would recommend anyone to stay at their house if they are in the region. It is a great experience!! Thank you! Anna & Raffi

  • We loved it! We got in very late and were immediately welcomed and guided to the cabin. We only stayed one night but it was very beautiful and felt very clean, new, and had a personal charm, as did our whole experience. It's a very quiet, relaxing, special place and Bernard & Janine couldn't have been more hospitable. They made us a great breakfast at their home and got to eat with a great view of the valley on their deck. Would love to return for a longer visit.

  • Finca Cantarana was one of the best stay of our vacation. The cabin is cosy and comfortable. Loved to wake up in the morning to only busing insects, chicken and monkey noises. Bernard staid chatting with us for a bit after check-in and gave us tones of advice on things to do. It's also close to the beautiful and less visited Curu Park that you must visit.

  • It was great to stay at that place. A Finca in the middle of the nature. A place to relax, to watch the birds and the lizzards. I loved the hangmat. We had company from a cute dog and a cat. Got fruits from Janine and Bernhard from there plantage. For me it's a place I would come back for sure, but my travels goes most of the time in other areas to discover something new. Danke Euch beiden fuer die tolle Gastgreundschaft mit Abholservice und der netten Begleitung zum Restaurant im Ort.

The Karen Mogenson reserve is a unique place rested in the middle of the jungle with beautiful cabins and a newly built research center with access to internet and a works space for researchers. The many trails offer a variety of views even of the ocean if you take the trail called the stairway to heaven to the watch tower. The kitchen is a common area with a local chefs Arnulfo and Mary to cook and help with anything needed on the facility. It truly is an amazing place very pristine and far enough away from the busy tourist attractions. This space still has the culture of Costa Rica. The lodges are powered by 100% solar power as well as the internet and the water comes from the natural mountain spring that starts their in the reserve. Other attractions include hiking to where the three rivers meet, the waterfall (vela de la novia) which is called the brides veil, the watch tower, the small nature school for kids and environmental programs, and the many unique animals to the reserve. Eat the fresh fruits from the trees and herbs from the garden. Enjoy, relax, and adventure.
The easiest way to get to ASEPALECO’s ecolodge is to fly into Liberia and drive two hours to Jicaral, or take local buses that leave from the bus station in Liberia to Nicoya, and then take another bus from Nicoya to Jicaral. From the center of Jicaral, the office is located about two blocks from the main church on the same side of the road. Once you reach the office, transportation can be provided for $20 to get to the small town of San Ramon del Rio Blanco. From there the adventure begins with a 1 hour hike to the Cerro Escondido Ecolodge. It’s important to note that hiking to the ecolodge is the best and most common way to get there. Transportation by car is unavailable during the rainy season, but could be potentially arranged in case of emergencies from December to April. The other option is to fly direct into San Jose. From San Jose, you can choose to rent a car or use public transportation. Either way, you will need to get to the office in Jicaral and then drive or get a taxi for $20 to San Ramon of Rio Blanco. From there, you’ll do the same trek (about 1 hour on foot) through the protected forest to reach the ecolodge. For those who enjoy horseback riding, you can enter the reserve by horse via the Montaña Grande community. For this option, please book ahead of time! You can also take a bus (from San Jose), taxi or direct shuttle (from the airport) to Puntarenas. In the crossing from Puntarenas to the Nicoya Peninsula, you can travel on the comfortable "San Lucas" ferry (Ferry times leave three times daily), from which you will have the opportunity to admire the Gulf of Nicoya´s natural beauty. Upon arrival to Playa Naranjo, buses are available to Jicaral where you can find the office of ASEPALECO to check in before heading to San Ramon del Rio Blanco. To get to Jicaral by bus (for those who would prefer not to take a ferry), you can take a bus from the airport to San Jose, and then a Taxi to Terminal 710. From Terminal 710, you will need to buy a bus ticket to Jicaral (the ride takes about 5 hours). From Jicaral, you can take a taxi to San Ramón del Rio Blanco which is around $20 (15km).
  • If you want a get away from it all place, this is it. The waterfall area is a must destination, as is the tower. Great loud monkeys to get you up in the morning!

    Kathy2017-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • This unique place provides a magical experience throughout from the trek in to the remote and rustic setting. The principle hosts, Mary and Arnulfo, are delightful and informative about nature and culture in Costa Rica. The walks around the reserve were rich with life, even in August, and the food was deliciously home cooked.

  • Unfortunately we did not get to stay at the house because our son got sick and we had to change our plans. Stephen was outmost understanding. Throughout our communications he was so friendly and detailed. It was a real shame we did not get our time in the jungle.

PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE FOOD ($50 per day per person) AND ($39 per day) TOUR GUIDE WHICH WILL NEED TO BE PAID AT OFFICE. * This cabin is located within the eco-lodge Cerro Escondido in the Karen Mogensen Nature Reserve. By staying in the cabins, you will find nature, rivers, wildlife, waterfalls and hiking trails everywhere you turn. To read more check out our website: (URL HIDDEN)
  • If you enjoy the outdoors and you care about the preservation of nature, support ASEPALECO and stay in Karen Mogensen.

  • Awesome experience for those looking to break away from traditional touring. Remote, spartan, 2 hour hike in to bunks that could be challenging for some but very rewarding in terms of wildlife and natural beauty including amazing waterfalls to swim in. Arnulfo was our host and guide, excellence naturalist and good with kids. This is an opportunity for some cultural exchange as well. Listing may not give the most accurate description so check out the reserve on-line before you book. Overall, we had an amazing overnight!

  • Remote, rustic, beautiful. A truly unique experience hosted by beautiful people and an amazing forest.

    Sarah2017-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is real adventure, in the middle of the jungle. I was here with my two sons (14-16) and we had a wonderful experience, far away from mass tourism. And meanwhile supporting the protection of this magical rainforest. A beautiful hike towards the lodge; don't be surprised that you should pass rivers and get wet because the rain has made these rivers grow. The kitchen (Mary) was very supportive in cooking gluten free (diet of one of my sons). Of course no luxury and cold showers but the experience of waking up by some howler monkeys who are looking inside your room, is invaluable.

This new 3 bedroom bungalow features an open floor plan and a spacious front veranda. With 948sq.ft. inside there's plenty of room for a large full bath and laundry area near the back door which opens onto a circular concrete patio and fire pit.
This area is just several minutes outside the town of Paquera but both howler and white faced monkeys frequent the property. Over 150 different species of birds including parrots, hummingbirds and cuckoos visit regularly. This new 3 bedroom features an open floor plan with living room, dinette and kitchen all flowing together. A spacious circular patio with a fire pit under the mango tree provides the perfect spot to kick back after a great day at the beach or Los Delfines golf course.
This area is still quite quaint and not really changed by the development in other regions of the country. We are in a rural setting but town is just two minutes away! There are a number of beaches with a 10 to 30 minute drive. An absolute must is the night kayak tours to see the plankton bio luminescene in the Playa organos area.Whether it is a more quiet beach or a busier beach with more tourists and shops, you can choose.
  • Great host, Mike was always in communication with us to satisfy our needs and to answer any questions. The place was great, clean, cozy and spacious for us 6 people. Love the are, great beaches and close walkable restaurants and shops. Thanks Mike :)

  • Mike was great - right from the beginning. We had questions before we arrived, and he always had answers. The house was just as advertised. Clean, fairly new, and proximal to our activities. One of our activities was through Bahía Rica, and it was interesting to find out that the proprietors knew Mike. Also, I highly recommend learning some basic Spanish before you go, because his housekeeper speaks almost no English. But that is as it should be - we are the visitors to this beautiful country. It will make your trip to Costa Rica that much more enjoyable too!

  • Paquera was a great little town. Michael was a great host, even though we didn't get a chance to meet him. Nena was so friendly and ready to answer any questions. The home was clean and welcoming. Thank you Michael for your personal recommendations. I would definitely stay again. We finally got to meet the bread guy on our last morning!

  • Thank you very much for your hospitality Mike! We're so happy we stayed in Paquera and got to explore the Nicoya Peninsula. Exactly what we wanted our vacation to be like! Hope to come back someday. In particular we loved: -Seeing monkeys coatis, agoutis, and a beautiful view of the ocean at Curu (hike Avispero if you're up for a crazy climb!) -Swimming in the warm calm bay at Tambor -Eating most of our meals at Hotel Ginana and getting a pizza at the pizza place (groceries are quite expensive) -The bio-luminescence kayak tour at Bahia Rica (so crazy cool and peaceful) -Coming back each evening to relax in a place that felt like home!

    Nathan2017-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • This house has been upgraded since the airbnb pictures. We loved it. There's a beautiful wooden table in the dining area and lots of beautiful plants that have grown in the front. We loved going to curú and recommend taking the boat from curú to playa quesera. We also rented a kayak and got to see a lot of wildlife. Another fun daytime activity for a little downtime is walking to ginana for lunch and a swim in the pool. My son loved it so much. Very comfortable house and stay on our way down the peninsula. Thanks mike!

Awake to the sounds of black howler monkeys just outside your window. Green parrots serenade you in the afternoon. Relax as one only can when completely surrounded by nature and tranquility. Our mountain boasts a climate of perpetual springtime with temperatures a comfortable 10 or 12 degrees below those on the coast.
At the foot of our 2 km driveway lies the idyllic village of Los Angeles de Nandayure. It is like traveling back 100 years to a simpler time where people know their neighbors and don't lock their doors. We are off the tourist trail but what we lack in amenities, we make up for in authenticity.
  • You have to endure a bumpy, dusty and very steep drive, but it's worth that all! The house gives all you wish for a unique and relaxing vacation. Fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and two spacious bedrooms. The living space is in the open air (fully shaded under the porch, and with hammocks!), which is ideal because of the breathtaking views. We had some wonderfull days at Bob and Johana's place. Enjoyed the jacuzzi and the pool. Observed the howler monkeys and lizzards nearby in the forest, and many birds and butterflies. There are beautifull beaches at about one hour driving, some you already see from the house. Bob and family were very welcoming and helpfull. We can recommend this place to anyone who likes to go off the beaten path and doesn't mind to stay far from towns and touristic areas.

  • If your idea of vacation is to go to a remote, beautiful, relaxing place then look no further! I felt all the stressors of life leave me as soon as I arrived. We were greeted by Joanna as we drove up. She was so gracious and friendly and showed us around the property. We spent every evening in the jacuzzi relaxing under stars so bright. This place is challenging to get to, steep hill and 4 wheel drive is a must, but the view is well worth it! Be sure to provision up before coming up the drive because you will not want to leave. Bob and Joanna keep on hand proteins (fish, shrimp , beef, chicken) but you'll need to bring everything else. There is a small store with limited food in town but I suggest that you stop in a larger town with larger grocery stores with an idea of what your going to prepare before you drive there. We did make fresh orange juice from the orchard on property and Joanna made a fresh loaf of bread that was delicious. This place is so beautiful, I'm glad we stayed here!

  • We had an absolutely wonderful time at Bobs place. Even before we got there, communication with Bob was a breeze and he provided us with all the info we needed. For directions don't rely on the GPS...just TIB - Trust in Bob :) His directions were so good that we didn't even need to turn on the GPS. As for the road to get there...definitely need a 4x4...but once u get up there its sooo worth it !! The pictures don't do it justice...absolutely amazing views all around.. and waking up to those views every morning was absolutely breathtaking !! Bob and his family were such wonderful hosts...gave us our privacy but always available if we needed them. They ensured we had a wonderful time. He even lent us boogie board as and beach chairs for our trip to the beach. Bobs wife Johana baked us the most delicious home-made bread and our kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves playing with his daughter and spending time in the pool. We loved taking long walks and hikes throughout the plantation, picking and eating from the many fruit trees on the property. The infinity pool and the Jacuzzi at the top of the mountain with gorgeous views all around are fantastic - a definite must do. By the end of our very short stay we felt like they were part of our family already and we did not want to leave. Overall the most wonderful experience ever !! We have made friends for life and we now have extended family in Costa Rica !! Thank you very much Bob, Johana and Annie !!! Pura Vida !!

  • This place was very relaxing with beautiful views and landscaping. The house was equipped with everything you needed. The kitchen had all the utensils needed but you need to bring everything needed for a recipe-This means the small things too; salt, pepper, oil, napkins. Nothing wrong with not having those... just the place is so beautiful you wont want to leave for any reason and the driveway alone is 2km. Robert was very welcoming and helpful with plans...said to knock on his door if we needed anything, but everything was ready to go for us. Highly recommend getting up early and exploring the property. I saw an incredible amount wildlife while (URL HIDDEN) amount that tours would charge you lots for.

  • The location and the 360 degree views are absolutely stunning. This combined with the peace and quiet make this a perfect place to unwind. The accommodation is simple, but clean and comfortable. It is also private, even though it is only 50 yards from the main house. There is unrestricted use of an infinity pool and spa, the views from which are out of this world. Hosts are very friendly and helpful, and are there when you want them to be. Just right really. Finally, a capable 4X4 vehicle is definitely required, you have to work a little to get to a location as good as this. It is also worth noting that it is about 45 minutes drive to the nearest beach, Playa Coyote.... But what a beach !

    Kevin2014-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • I went with family of 4 to Robert's property and it, was one of the best we've stayed at. The view was something my whole family could not get over. The guest house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Robert and his family were very friendly, informative, and hospitable. They were very welcoming and made us feel like family. It is a great place to unwind and relax. I would highly recommend this property to anyone that is considering this place. Thank you Robert, Johanna and Annie for being such great hosts.

  • Our family stayed four nights in the quiet and simple accomodation of Cia. We had a lot of space and a great view to the garden and the forest. Cia invited us two times for dinner and breakfast, it was really delicious costarican healthy food! Cia gave us the possibility to get in touch with the local people and we could make two great tours: we visited an old family sugar cane factory and went by motorboat through the mangroves to the isla chira. In the mangroves we saw several crocodiles! Also our horseback riding was nice, our girls really loved it! Cia is a really nice host! The streets are really steep, you really need a 4x4 Car!

    Karin2015-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very pleasant stay at Cia's Ranch. Cia is a wonderful host and the setting of the house is just amazing, overlooking the Golf. It was very nice to get out of the hot touristy areas and experience the live in a truly Costa Rican town. The house is in the hills around Carmona (not Paquera!). There are some small but very nice villages up the mountain, we enjoyed driving around enjoying the spectacular views and spending some time on the local squares. The room was very nice with the most comfortable bed we had thus far on our trip. Our son Isak (2 years old) slept more than an hour longer every night. :-) It was just so nice and peaceful there. We got the chance to do an amazing trip with a motorboat, through the mangroves (we saw crocodiles :-) ), out on the Golf, to a very small, uninhabited island. It was perfect to have a little swim there and then off to Isla Chira to buy some freshly caught fish and camarones. It was one of the best days of our holiday thus far. Isak also got to ride one of the horses, which he loved. And he got to feed the horses every morning. He was one happy toddler! All and all it was the perfect place for us, traveling with a small child. We were said we had to leave.

  • 3 friends and myself had an amazin stay in Cia's house. We stayed there for three nights over NYE. - The house is hudge and beautiful, very well decorated. You wake up with a view on the jungle which is amazing. The house can host up to 16 people as it is so big! The master bedroom and bathroom as especially impressive. - Cia was extremely helpful, she organized activities for us (horse riding and boat tour), she also invited us over at her house for diner for great food and great conversation. - The surrounding are very nice, with some jungle, mountains, and of course the beautiful sea nearby. - The area isn't too turistical which is nice. I'd definetely recommend Cia's house whether it is for a small or bigger group.

  • Gaétan and Aline are perfect hosts! If you are traveling to this area, I highly recommend staying here. Their place is clean, spacious, and well-equipped and has an amazing view--in other words perfection. It was hard to leave to go exploring because we could see so many interesting birds from the porch. And the hammock was hard to leave too! They invited us out to dinner with their friends on New Year's Eve which made us feel part of a fun community. They also gave us star fruit and limes from their trees and a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream. Thank you for a wonderful week!

  • What a wonderful home, with a stunning view and gracious hosts. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Gaetan and Ellen were generous with local knowledge and hospitality.

  • My husband and I stayed at this beautiful condo for 34 on our first trip to Costa Rica. The view and secluded location was perfect for what we looking for. We felt like part of the local population and had easy access to the local transit with a 20 minutes ride to the closest town. The best part of the trip were the hosts Gaetan and Aline. They are wonderful hosts and made us feel extra special. We would highly recommend staying at this beautiful condo and hope to be back again.

  • This is where you want to live! Me and my housebound with our two kids 8 years, stayed here at 7days and we hade a great time. The house was lovely, and our housts was extraordenery. They really took care of us. They were extremely helpful and sensitive for our needs, even privacy. They gave us some really good advises where to go and was helpful when we needed. The kitchen was perfectly equipped and the house was clean. We felt home at once. The view is fantastic from the terass. We and our kids wanted to stay longer, the week ran of too fast. Defiantly the best place we ever rented at Airbnb. Thank you for a great time!

  • Gaetan and Aline are wonderfull host and their place is very quiet, spacious and with a stunning view. They gave us very useful information to enjoy our stay and even invited us to join them and their friends to go the beach where we had à great time altogether.

  • We were absolutely stunned by Gaetan's place! The space itself was beautiful, but the 360-degree deck, the setting surrounding the property, and the views really made it perfect. The dwelling is immaculately maintained and furnished down to the smallest detail. For example, I wanted to make some fresh lime-aid and I needed a funnel... Not only were there three different sized funnels, but two juicers for me to use! Gaetan and his wife went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I would recommend staying here to anybody!
