Scenic Lookout
“Take a pleasant self-guided walk through lush tropical vegetation to scenic vista points overlooking the cascading Kahuna Falls and the free-falling Akaka Falls, which plunges 442 feet. Stop to pet the goats on the way there at Honomu Goat Dairy.”

Historic Site
“In old Hawai'i, if you had broken a law, the penalty was death. Perhaps you had entered into an area that was reserved for only the chiefs, or had eaten forbidden foods. Laws, or kapu, governed every aspect of Hawaiian society. The penalty for breaking these laws was certain death. Your only option for survival is to elude your pursuers and reach the nearest pu'uhonua, or place of refuge. As you enter, the great wall rises up before you marking the boundaries between the royal grounds and the sanctuary. Many ki'i (carved wooden images) surround the Hale o Keawe temple, housing the bones of the chiefs that infuse the area with their power or mana. If you reached this sacred place, you would be saved. Today, you may visit Pu'uhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park, and still feel the spirit of peace and forgiveness that continues to surround and bless this special place.”

“This is probably the best sit down restaurant in Pahoa. Make a reservation if you can, there can be a wait for seating at Lunch and dinner. Great fresh local style food and wonderful Hawaiian Style atmosphere. A bit on the pricier side but a good choice for a nice experience and tasty meal. About a 10 min drive from Leilani Estates.”

Beach
“Another amazing and soft white sand beach on this beautiful island! This is a great spot to go boogie boarding or body surfing or sun bathing...but be mindful...the waves can crash big here so if in doubt, don't go out. But enjoy the beach just the same! ”

“Kona Brewery is a "must" for anyone who likes beer. But even people who don't like beer will be impressed with the good food and 2,000 square-foot outdoor lanai. Brewery tours are available daily, and the "Growler Shack" is open daily for beer-to-go.”

Beach
“Kahaluu Beach Park is a tiny sheltered cove on the west side of the Big Island right in the town of Kailua Kona. It’s one of only a handful of beaches in Hawaii with such a large tame fish population. Kahaluu Beach is not a marine preserve, yet for having no fishing limitations, it rivals and sometimes surpasses the quantity of fish you’ll see at a dedicated marine sanctuary.”

Scenic Lookout
“This is one of the most beautiful places on the Big Island. I would suggest parking up top and walking down. You'll see other people driving down, but it's quite sketchy because it's such a steep descent. It's a steep and intense walk down and back up or you can just enjoy the beautiful view from the top. ”
