Museum
“This may sound like an odd thing to do whilst in Kansas City but hair art was actually a very popular form of art in the 1800’s. Leila’s Hair Museum, situated in Independence (just east of Kansas City), is a quirky but entertaining museum displaying the largest collection of wreaths and jewelry made from hair. The collection is the only one of its kind on display to the public making it a truly unique experience and one that is guaranteed to stick in your memory.”

“The Court House Exchange is a casual pub where locals hang out and discuss news of the day, sports, politics, and civic matters. Located below street level, the rock walls, wooden bar, and fixtures lend the bar a cozy feel. Pop in for a hearty bite to eat or a cold drink with friends. The Court House Exchange serves some of the best sandwiches in town. Try our burgers & fries, the fried chicken platter, or a hefty pork tenderloin. It's all good! ”

“Weather permitting, gorgeous outdoor gardens for dining. Inside is just as beautiful and impressive. Three levels of estate items, antiques and everything unique for gifts, home and personal use. Just a lovely restaurant/interior home design lifestyle business owned and managed by locals Cindy and her brother. Our community is blessed to have this special venue in Independence. Highly recommended. Take the time to treat yourself and a loved one and do not miss. Tell Cindy that you are a guest at Jacquie’s Airbnb and that my family thinks the world this magical place. Closed on Sunday and Mondays. Lunch & Dinner. You can drop in, but call ahead if possible.”
