Vacation Rentals in Idra

Just booked in Idra

Unique panoramic view from all balconies and terrace. Less than 5 minutes from the main town and port where our guests may access all shops, cafes, restaurants, tourist offices and boats which will take them to all beaches. Owners will be there staying at the main town available for you at any time you wish.
  • This is such an amazing location, with great views of the harbor and the sea between Idra and the Peloponnese. We enjoyed relaxing on one of the terraces and watching boats coming and going. It was a very easy walk into the inner harbor for shopping, dining and people watching. We also walked to a couple of different beaches for swimming and relaxing. The home is very comfortable and spacious. We have fallen in love with Idra!

  • The views were amazing and the interior of the house is filled with antiques and family treasures. It is a living history. Beautiful home. 83 steps up to the house but they are spaced and there is a lovely garden with lavender as you climb up. Views of the port and across the water. Stunning.

  • It's perhaps the best house to stay in the whole Hydra port: sun all day long and shade all day long if you switch between the 3 terraces and the big balcony! Great views of the Hydra port, the mountains of the island, the open sea, the Peloponnese and straight to the sunset!! What else could you ask for? Everything was spotless clean, very well equipped kitchen and the whole house feels very warm and welcoming: furnished with taste, lots of candles available, books, old pictures of the island and the family, it has a lot of character and is the opposite of a cold soulless hotel room. The port (and supermarket) is a 5min walk away, the beach is 10mins away. You've got to climb some stairs but they're pretty easy (my 80 year old father managed to climb them without a problem) and otherwise you wouldn't get this view! Myrsini was very available by email and the phone and was keeping track of our stay and if she could do anything to make it easier!

  • My husband and I spent 5 glorious days at Myrsini's beautiful family home in Hydra. The pictures of the place online really do not do it justice; there are several exquisite views throughout the house and we tried to enjoy all of them every day. The house is perfectly located, about a 5 minute walk from the harbor. The housemaid was there to greet us, even when our boat arrived late. As the kitchen is fully equipped, we enjoyed breakfast on the roof every morning and dined in several evenings. In the morning, we went on hikes to the village of Vlychos with its gorgeous beach (about a 40 min walk). We twice ate at Kodylenia's Taverna in Kaminia (on the way to Vlychos). The owner was so warm and caught fresh fish every day. The food and views were incredible. All in all, 5 days was not enough here- we wish we could have had another week! Thank you Myrsini for giving us a memory of a lifetime.

    Raquel2016-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Myrsini's house is just lovely! The traditional nature of the house with traditional furniture and colors, decorated with numerous paintings is very beautiful. There is privacy, two bathrooms, a well equipped little kitchen and an amazing view from every window and terrace!

    Aspasia2014-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay. Lovely home with superb views in all directions. Everything you need in the house and really close to Hydra port. Great communication with Myrsini throughout the booking and arrival. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place and can't wait to stay again.

Arguably one of the most beautiful rental villas on Hydra, this stunning property is situated high above the port with the most spectacular views out to the sea. The harbour with its waterfront tavernas, cafes and shops is about 15 minutes walk downhill. The villa is on three levels with terraces at each level, including areas furnished for dining and relaxing outdoors, including a spacious lower terrace with small pool.

Zoe apartments, a traditional Hydraian house, well taken care by the hand of Mrs Zoe for many years. Located at the road which leads from the port of Hydra to Kamini village in only 10 min walk along the beautiful coastal path and 2 min from the little port of kamini. It's close to Athens and you can come from Piraeus port in 2 hours with Hellenic Seaways flying dolphins There is also listed other rooms at Zoe Apartments for couples or solo travelers.
This room has 1 double bed, private bathroom, tv,a/c,wi-if and they share a common kitchen. It's also has window view.
Zoe Apartments is 2 minutes from the little port of Kamini and 5 minutes from the Castello beach club with crystal water. The club has sun-loungers and beach service where you can enjoy your coffee, cocktails or finger food, also there is a restaurant available for lunch, dinner or an event. In the area there are another 3 taverns with traditional cuisine and 2 upscale restaurants. Just near the house there is place with big rocks for diving in the big blue. There is also a convince grocery market just 100 meters from the house.
  • Great place only moments from sea and with sunset over sea views from the window. It's a great bargain on a v expensive island and really good that there's a fully equipped kitchen so dont have to spend 4 euro for a cup of coffee down in the port.

  • A great vacation. The landlord is very good at providing adequate service. The room is clean and you can see the seascape and enjoy the holidays。

  • Charming house with a few rental rooms. We were welcomed by the wonderful women that held the place and they were very kind to us despite our early arrival. I totally recommend

    Gabriel2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent! Very cute and cosy room.

    Oliver2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • The one positive thing is that we had a small view. The home is located far from the main harbour. The bathroom shower is very small with a curtain that allows water to flood the floor. The kitchen was dirty, mold in a coffee pot, and the kitchen was cluttered. When we asked for directions we were told it was on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map. We had no directions we were lost. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map is not sufficient,. The sign was covered in a plant. We had to ask several people were and how to get to the home. The steep narrow steps to our room would be difficult if a person was unfit. The doors had loose handles , they were hard to close. It was our first time in Greece, and expected better.

    Kristen2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Had a nice stay at Zoes, although the room didnt have a balcony. A good thing was we could use a private bathroom!

    Marie2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The room was great - it was perfect for our stay - would stay again. It's a 10min walk along a beautiful costal path. But it very accessible and close to places where you can swim. There is a great restaurant with stunning views just around the corner.

    Adam2017-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Would definitely recommend Zoe's apartments! It was really easy to get to and communication was awesome. It's location was ideal for a chill and relaxed atmosphere and was a nice walk from everything to do on the island. They were very accomodating with check in, and even upgraded us to a bigger room with a balcony view because it was empty that night. Hydra is a beautiful island and this place is a great one to experience it from :)

  • This place was incredible - it's even more beautiful than the pictures, and also really comfortable. The flat is lovely inside, very clean, and extremely well equipped - everything we thought of was already there! The views of Hydra port from the bedrooms and terrace are beautiful - we loved having coffee and breakfast up in the terrace every morning and sitting there in the evenings. There were four of us coming for a long weekend for a friend's wedding and the place was perfect to stay - it's less than 10 mins walk from the port so easy to access everything in Hydra - although there a few steep steps on the way up. Konstantinos was a wonderful host, he met us off the ferry and took us to the place, arranged for our luggage to be transferred and showed us around - perfect example of Greek hospitality. He also did the same when we were checking out, and he was available throughout our stay for any questions etc. All together an amazing place and would definitely recommend it to anyone!

  • What a place, what a view, what a great welcome and experience. Thanks Konstantinos, we hope to come back here soon!

    Giacomo2016-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place is magic! Konstantinos was an excellent host and was incredibly responsive. He told us this was his grandfather's house, and it was very charming. We liked this house so much, we stayed two extra days! Incredibly clean, spacious, with an EXCELLENT rooftop terrace. If Konstantinos asks if you want a taxi, take the offer! For 15€, a donkey brings your bags up 250 stairs. It's hard work to climb, but worth the views! We would stay again in a heartbeat!

    Erin2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Kostantinos place. The place was very comfortable, with a great view and Kostantinos was a great host. The only thing people considering staying there should keep in mind is that the place is a 10 minute walk up relatively steep stairs from the port. The view however in our opinion more than compensates!

    Maria2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was very nice Great view from the bedrooms and the little terrace Very easy and friendly welcoming from Konstantinos and his mother We had great time in Hydra

  • Konstantinos was a wonderful host, very patient and accomodating. The apartment was very clean and well supplied. The view of the town and the water from the balcony was spectacular. I would definitely recommend this place.

  • Hydra is so beautiful!! To sit on Konstantinos terrace with the amazing view over Hydra was breathtaking. The apartement is very nice, clean and has everything you need. And Konstantions himself was so helpful and kind to us. We can highly recommend staying at his place. It's really very special.

  • Barbarella's house stole my heart from the moment I saw it on the listing and it was even better than I expected when I saw it up close. Very clean, cosy and beautifully decorated! I loved the amazing views from the balcony and the cosy corner by the fireplace! Barbarella269 took excellent care of us, arranged for someone to help us with our suitcases, stocked the fridge with everything we needed for breakfast and snacks and was very helpful in anything we asked. A lovely place and an even lovelier hostess!

  • Gorgeous home in an idyllic neighborhood, with absolutely stunning views. Efi's house is truly a home, filled with a sense of joy and whimsy and outfitted with everything one could possibly need to have an easy, comfortable stay. We loved eating breakfast (with fabulous goodies provided by Efi at a very nominal fee) on the glorious main terrace. The house has a wonderful vantage of Hydra town and the port. There are at least three ways of walking to it, and our family never tired of greeting Hydriot kids and grandmas along the way, with sweet cats perched among the flower pots, hoping for a treat. Taking the steps to and from the port gave us a deeper appreciation of life in Hydra, one that we'd have missed if we'd stayed right along the waterfront. Efi went totally above and beyond to ensure we had a perfect stay, including arranging a transfer of our luggage with lovely Peter and his donkeys, and even connecting us to a super cab driver in Athens! There is not enough space here to list all the special touches and extremely generous gestures Efi made--we felt that we were treated as family, with the most sincere warmth! We would definitely return to Efi's home the next time we visit Hydra.

    Tina2017-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning location on a beautiful island. The view from the terrace, upper terrace / balcony and bedrooms is just breathtaking and could sit there and look out over the harbour. The house itself is very homely with 3 large bedrooms and a great kitchen. Efi was a really helpful host who was very easy to communicate with. Would definitely stay there again!

    Toby2017-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a three night stay in Hydra and really had a fantastic time. Having been there last October, we knew that the charm of the island is a lot to do with the character of the architecture, with its jumble of beautiful whitewashed houses, as well as the fact that the town is preserved more or less as it was many decades ago. The first sight of the town rising steeply above the harbour is unforgettable. The complete absence of motor vehicles greatly adds to the feeling of peace and relaxation (well, we did see one vehicle, there is a garbage truck). With all of this in mind, we were very happy to find when we arrived that the house we had booked was beautiful, full of old-world charm, lovely antique settees, artefacts that suggested the seafaring past of the town ... as well as every modern convenience, including WiFi. We loved the choice of two terraces, with comfortable outdoor furniture, one with a big dining table great for outdoor meals. The upper terrace especially had a wonderful view over the whole town and the surrounding sea and islands. Sitting there in the evening as the light faded and the lights of the town began to twinkle was wonderful. We were warmly welcomed, everything was perfectly clean and very comfortable, and delicious things for breakfast had kindly been provided. The house was fairly high up in the town, hence the great views, and it was easy to access from there some of the walking routes of the island. This time we walked up through the pine forest to the monastery of Profitis Ilias, a walk of about one and a half hours at average pace. This brings up the only thing to keep in mind: you must be able to walk and be at least moderately fit to fully enjoy Hydra - the town is full of intriguing narrow alleyways and stairs. The house is not really far at all from the harbour, but is reached by a series of steep steps. A luggage transfer by a man and a mule was provided on arrival, as carrying suitcases up would be a bit tricky. If you don't mind a bit of a walk, this house is wonderful, great value and a great experience. One not to be missed. We would not hesitate to recommend this house to our friends, especially those who enjoy walking. There are several quite long hiking routes on Hydra. We can't wait to go back! A big thank you to the owners from our whole party, for the experience of staying in one of the traditional family homes of Hydra town.

    Melanie2017-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed 2 nights in Barbarellas house. I can't fault it in anyway. Her attentiveness and care was second to none - right from the start of our communication to the moment we left, she wanted to ensure we were comfortable and well looked after. And we were. The house is in a perfect position with beautiful views over the port and perfectly placed patios enabling you to devour the vista. Beds are super comfortable, kitchen is perfectly equipt, breakfast provided for the first night and donkeys booked to take us to the house with ease. It was super easy from start to finish. But the star is Barbarella. Her desire to make you feel at home made you feel at home. It was very hard to leave. I couldn't recommend it more.

    Antonia2017-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best places we’ve stayed in for its comfort, space, amenities and location with superb views of the port and of Hydra more generally – views made possible by its elevation in the town. All this was crowned by a host who made us feel like family guests! She spoiled us with Greek pastries and an excellent welcome food basket including fruit, bread, milk, cheese and ham. She also helped us plan the next stage in our holiday which meant hiring a car on the mainland from Matochi after taking the Matochi Express! A small present of a travel chess set for our kids was much appreciated This rental is a true home from home and we would have loved to have prolonged our stay of 5 nights!

  • Petros accommodation can't be better located, directly in the centre but still quite. The room was very nice and was for a few days our second home..... Hydra does the rest.... Thx.... A must go.....

  • A beautiful suite steps from the Hydra harbor, cafes, restaurants, sea taxis and all the action. The place was clean, quiet, beautiful, and right in the center of Hydra. The host was courteous and the place was as advertised: what you see is what you get, which is luxurious and well kept. The island itself is amazing, so with our accommodation so great, we had a wonderful holiday in Hydra!

    Emil2014-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was top notch: the location, the room, the view from the terrace and the host! We would definitely come back!

    Christoffer2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Petros was always available and very informative (excellent restaurant recommendation). He even stayed up late in less than ideal weather (rain and cold) so that he could give us our key and escort us to the door of the apartment.

    Michael2016-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great place near the harbor. Nice public space (shared by the suites) for having breakfast or a drink. The hot tub was especially nice. It was great that on our last day we were able to store our bags in Peter's shop until the ferry came.

    Cindy2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful place to stay on Hydra. Location is very close to the harbor, and to most of the main places in town. The room itself is charming, quite large, and has plenty of storage space. We had a kitchenette that allowed us to make breakfast and lunch for days we were too tired to go out. The bathroom is very clean and modern. Our host Petros was incredibly helpful and attentive to our needs. He was also very accommodating and communicative when we ran into a snag with the ferry schedule.

    Fern2017-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome and perfect place close to the ferry (less than 2 minutes walk) and the port attractions. The studio was convenient and clean. Special mention for the city view from the jacuzzi that is maintained at a fresh temperature to relax under the warm temperatures of the summer.

Superb harbor and sea views, large sun drenched terraces, shaded garden and quiet courtyard. Main house with fully equipped separate guesthouse, short walk (~ 7 minutes) to Hydra Town, shops, restaurants, wireless internet, welcome on arrival.
Perfectly located above Hydra Town, the house, a traditional stone build former sea captain's home, is high enough above the port to offer amazing views, but low enough that the walk is still easy and the town and harbor are reached in five to ten minutes. Lovingly renovated and cared for by the present owners over the past 25 years, the house is a delightful fusion of Eastern and Traditional Greek elements, which combine to produce a pleasant and unique aesthetic. The main house is spread over several levels and sleeps 6 people and can even accommodate up to 9 people. There is a lovely sunken courtyard, covered by jasmine, providing a cool area to relax in the heat of the day. From here one can access the main living room and kitchen, passing by the 'siesta' room, one of the various cozy sleeping areas. The living room has three arched windows facing the port and a good-sized wood burning fire for cool days. The kitchen is well equipped and has new units and work surfaces. A hallway leads to the master bedroom and study. There are two bathrooms in the main house, one of which offers a large bathtub and trompe l'oeil artwork, as well as a light shaft to the garden and lovely smooth molded cement work reminiscent of an Eastern hammam. Upstairs is another large living area with lovely original exposed roof beams, and another sleeping area with skylights. Doors lead out onto the terrace, which offers the most amazing views of the port and the island in general. There is a shaded dining table for eight to ten people with expansive views and there are many places to sit and relax on the terrace as well as in the garden. Water is a constant feature of this house, and there are fountains in different places, using original stone vessels and/or tiles from the Middle East. In addition to the main house is a separate self-contained guesthouse with living area, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. This has a double bed and room for an additional single bed. The house has two to three bedrooms and can sleep eight people in proper beds. A phone is available for incoming and local calls only. Free wireless Internet is provided. The house is ideal for a larger family vacation or a retreat, with plenty of open space for yoga and relaxation. For families, especially with younger children, parents are responsible for their children’s safety, in particular on the main terrace, as the drop from the wall surrounding the terrace is quite steep. The house is not suitable for people with mobility issues (because of the stairs to reach the house as well as those within the house) unless they’re used to walking.
7 to 10 minute walk to the harbor of Hydra Town with 100 steps to reach the house, the home has beautiful views of the scenic harbor, sea and mountains while still being close to the harbor. This neighborhood is private, quiet yet close to the 'action' of the harbor as well as the grocery stores, restaurants, post office, banks and other attractions.
  • My boyfriend and I had a lovely 10 days in the White House. Both our lovely host sue and Misha were extremely helpful and friendly. Hydra and the house are a dream!

    Mischa2016-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • The White House is perfect for a family vacation on beautiful Hydra. The main house can accommodate 3 couples, with the third room on the ground level (next to the kitchen) giving less intimacy. The adjacent guest house can accommodate a forth couple, with its own WC and kitchen. Plenty of sofas for extra guests if needed. Exceptional (breath taking) views on the very large terrace, with many places to sit which was ideal to host receptions and large family gatherings. The only negative thing about the villa is that there are lots of steps to climb from the port to get to the villa, this can be problematic for elders with health conditions or for small kids travelling with strollers. We stayed 2 weeks in the White House. We got married and had our 5-month old baby baptized on Hydra. The villa was ideal and housed our family (up to 4 couples at some point during our stay + baby). We also hosted suppers on the terrace to reunite with our friends who came from the 4 corners of the world to share these special moments with us. The authentic and rustic Greek villa and its terrace gave very nice and colorful opportunities for wedding and christening pictures. Our 70 yo parents found it a bit difficult to climb all the stairs to get to the villa (but they got used to them and it was actually good exercise for them) and we didn't used the stroller for the baby because of that reason. Sue and Misha were fantastic. Sue came to greet us as the port, arranged the donkeys to carry out our luggage, and gave us a tour of the villa and the town (groceries, bakery, butcher). We also kept on bumping into Sue in town (Hydra is a small community) and by the same occasion, she made sure we weren't missing anything. Misha was kind to furnish us with a crib, a high chair and a BBQ as a special request before our arrival. He also sent flowers and a bottle of wine to congratulate us for our wedding. We also had the opportunity to meet Misha's dad, a gentleman with a golden heart who lives right next to the White House. We highly recommend the villa and we will surely come back.

    SoSo2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time we have stayed at the White House and would definitely return again. The house is large enough for family groups, but with secluded spaces for people to "get away". It's an easy house to spend time in. The view from the terrace is incredible and for Hydra, the walk up to the house is really not such a big deal. It is not as high as it would appear in some of the photos. Misha and Sue (who runs the house) are incredibly responsive but completely unobtrusive. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a wonderful time. Thank you!

    Pauline2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Just a wonderful place for our family of 4 adults and 3 children! A delightful house and must be the best terrace and view of beautiful Hydra. Misha responded in a flash to our questions and Sue made us feel very welcome to the house and the island. We look forward to coming back as soon as possible!

    Tobias2017-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • I loved the big beautiful terrace with incomparable views of the port, the sea, the mountains beyond, and the setting sun.

  • Fabulous place in amazing location. Balcony has the most beautiful view over Hydra. Management very helpful. Just loved it. In fact reluctant to write a review cos I want to keep it secret. Thanks Sue and Mischa.

  • The house is everything what you see in the pictures and even more. It's actually more spacious than we expected and with many cozy areas both inside and outside. The view is magnificent, probably one of the best in town and the steps to climb are very manageable (for Hydra's standard). We were in a group of 7 friends and had absolutely no problem in terms of space/privacy. Sue, the housekeeper is extremely helpful and the communication with Misha was great! A fantastic house with style and a unique soul!

  • Beautiful house with the most amazing large terrace and loads of places to sit and chill out. We found it difficult to leave, as it was so comfortable. Everything was provided from beach towels, torches, good coffee pot, wifi and the kitchen had everything we needed. Would definitely come back. Best restaurant on the island is Christina's.

My place is close to the beach, nightlife, and public transport. You’ll love my place because of the coziness, the high ceilings, the location, the people, and the views. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).
One bedroom with outside traditional kitchen and bathroom.
  • While it has a fantastic roof terrace, there are issues with this property. We got no communication about how to find the property until we had emailed twice and then made 3 phone calls before we eventually found the house. The directions are descriptions only. It is 15 minute walk from the ferry and over cobblestones and a slight hill. Not easy in hot weather but you can use donkeys if you knew how to tell someone where the property was. As stated in the description the kitchen and bathroom are separate from the bedroom, but it is not clear that they are downstairs and across an outside courtyard. The shower floods the floor and the kitchen has minimal utensils. However the oven and hot plates work really well. We did love the Roof Terrace, it was great and made up for the rest of the issues we had and luckily we didn't have to share it as there was no one else staying in the other part of the property while we were there.

  • We had a short (2 nights) but very pleasant stay in Dorothys beautiful house. As others have mentioned the view from the balcony is simply stunning. We enjoyed staying in Kamini a little away from the crowd and a nice walk (without luggage :-)) away from the main town. Dorothy was a nice and helpful host and we would come back any time.

    Lise2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Dora was a very friendly, helpful and kind host. Her amazing place has the best view anyone can get on this very picturesque island.. If you enjoy being on a quite neighborhood, an easy 10' but very nice walk to the centre of Ydra, and explore unique places away from the busy shops and bars, then this place is a perfect choice.

    Daphne2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Picturesque Greek house, with a beautiful room top terrace overlooking the quaint harbour. Ideal for watching the sun set. The house is located 5 mins walk from the main harbour of Hydra, away from the busyness of the tourist zone but close enough to walk there easily.

    Niamh2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Dora's house. She was completely accommodating of us and our needs throughout our stay, and her place is walkable to everything in the town of Hydra. We had no problems at all with our experience, and it was a joy to meet her.

    Andreas2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Dora's place is perfect for anyone who wants a beautiful, quiet room and kitchen/bath accomms. with a spectacular view from the rooftop terrace of the harbor at Kamini. It is just 10 minutes walk along the coast from the main town of Hydra. There is a great taverna/restaurant just down the street. It's called Pirofani and it is owned by an old friend "Theo" who speaks perfect English. there is also little grocery store just opposite for essentials (like beer & wine!). The swimming rocks are very close by and there is a sandy beach a quick walk to the west. Dora is a lovely host, very friendly and accommodating. High recommend! (and I have been going to Hydra for over 40 years!)

  • Dorothy s house is very nice. This is the most beautiful terraces in tg r neighbourhood. Highly recommended.

  • This place is paradise. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the ocean view from the (very ample) terrace. It's in the best part of the island, in my opinion: 10 minutes' walk from the port but significantly more peaceful, and close to some great beaches. And Dora is absolutely terrific! A charming and generous host, she even prepared a marvelous lunch for my girlfriend and I. The room itself is a comfortable respite from the sun, a good fit for two people. There's also a fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom and shower. We can't wait to come back next year.

  • A beautiful home, nestled above the port in the winding back streets of hydra. Had everything and more that you could possible want or need. Despite the size, it comfortably accommodated all 9 of us. Apart from a slight pool problem (chemical imbalance) we enjoyed our time here very much. We used the bbq one night, which disrupted neighbours above, getting smoke in their eyes, but a small issue that a very friendly conversation sorted. Only other issue was a next door neighbour with a barking dog.

The house is a two room facility with a separate bathroom and a small yard/ garden in between. A two-floor small but old and traditional house that we've tried to restore in the most eco-friendly way and with much respect for the original ambience.
The house sleeps up to five, if crowded, but is ideal and totally comfortable for a couple, or a family with kids, or perhaps three to four close friends. Either way, this is definitely a place to feel at home. Upstairs is the "living-room", with a window we have fallen in love with (actually there are three of them), and a few steps above that, on a small attic, what serves as a tiny but personable bedroom for consenting adults. Downstairs is the kitchen, equipped with everything you'll need, and, here, you also find a sofa bed. It's a few seconds walk to the bathroom; this may be a problem to some but whoever enjoys such an element wouldn't change it for the world.
The house is located in the oldest residential area of Hydra; this means away from the sea and with a good view of it (as back in the days of those early settlers the fear of pirates was routine). It further means that there are a few steps to the house (ok, several is perhaps more like it) but, all in all, nothing to worry about; just that something to make the end more rewarding... It is no more than a 10-12 minute slow walk up the hill (15 from where the ferry leaves you), fairly easy to find, and donkeys are always available (although some early notice is highly advisable). Moreover, you shouldn't forget where you are. You are at an island with NO CARS. No motor vehicles whatsoever; what a good chance to rediscover the power of your feet and adore them accordingly.
  • Giannis and Fani are just amazing. This was the first personal booking for my girlfriend and I with AirBnB, and they were the perfect people to start with! Helpful, sweet, and so much fun! Giannis was waiting for us on the island, and gave us a little tour while we walked to the home. It's a bit of a walk uphill, but the house is simply gorgeous! Rustic, but beautifully decorated, and with a fantastic view. There are a few grocery stores nearby, and Kamini beach is pretty close as well. There's a lovely little garden where you can sit in the evenings. We will definitely be back for the home, but mainly for Fani and Giannis! It was truly a pleasure to meet such caring and open minded people. Thank you both for this amazing experience!

    Vikrant2015-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Giannis' house is everything it sets out to be: a quirky, quiet, beautiful and wonderfully charming haven on hydra. We had a great time on the island, and Giannis' house played a great part in that! Cant wait to come back...

    Laura2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house! Amazing Island! Friendly and helpful host. All very good!

    Annlaug2016-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Giannis is very friendly and most helpful with arrival arrangements. This is a charming little place, tucked away with a lovely garden. A peep into life in the real Hydra away from the rush of things around the port. It also has quick access to the small village of Kamini where you can have a quiet swim. There is a small shop nearby with most helpful couple which means you don't have to carry items up from the port.

    Mara2016-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Even before you set foot on Hydra you know you're in for a good time. The warmth and the expeditiousness of prior communications put your mind at rest. This is then enhanced when you meet Giannis in person waiting for you at the ferry dock to take you to the house. You get to know him (and instantly like him) in the 10 minutes it takes to get there. The house is charming. But because it's idiosyncratic (something most on AirB&B probably desire - subconsciously or otherwise)the pictures don't do it justice. It's quirky yet comfortable, old yet modern, uncluttered yet full of interesting stuff. It was Orthodox Ester an I got a big Easter cake. And a bottle of wine. And some hand-made soaps too! Book it - you won't regret it!

    Andrzej2016-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Giannis was the ultimate host. He met us the minute we got off the ferry to the island and greeted us with a smile and set us up with a donkey that took our luggage to his house. He walked up to the house with us, providing great insight and tips for how to remember to get there. The island is an exciting maze. Giannis was more than welcoming, showing us a tour of his beautiful house. He stayed for a while answering any and all questions we had and gave amazing suggestions on restaurant/cafes, beaches, and local places tourists don't know about. We felt at home and that is priceless! The house had everything we needed and was further away from the busy port so we felt like we got to be more apart of the locals. The house was very safe, incredibly charming, and wonderfully romantic. We would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, adventurous, delicious trip!

    Alex2016-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Giannis was really nice and it was great to arrive and have some fruits and water in the fridge after the 10 min walk from the port to get there. Everything in the description is accurate, the house is very charming and well suited to a couple on a romantic retreat in the quieter part of hydra's main town. If I ever start writing a novel, I would definitely see myself staying there to do so!

    Alexis2016-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Giannis's house is very special in many ways. The house and the neighborhood in itself is definitely old. It feels more like these houses have grown to the side of the hill than planned and built by certain town plans. In the summertime the garden is actually the centre of the house, sort of living room, surrounded by other rooms (that are indoors). Everyone in the family found their favourite spots to spend time, whether to sit in the sun or in the shade, spotting stars and sunset or to find a private spot for rest and reading. The garden is full of scents of spices and herbs (basil, lavender, mint...) and jasmines. The kitchen has everything you need, if you want to cook your own meals. Getting up and down the hill does take getting used to, but the streets are lovely, and you can take slightly different route every time. And because it is away from the main port area (where the day cruisers roam) it is much more peaceful. We loved the route to Vlychos. We really hope we can come again!

The "House in the center of Hydra" is a two floor apartment, located less than a minute away from the port. Built during the 19th century but recently renovated and redecorated, it is the first year that it is available for rent. The house's original style was maintained and enhanced with contemporary decorative ideas, resulting in a simple and comfortable yet luxurious outcome.
The house's total size is 150 sq.m. divided into two floors. One of the three available bedrooms has two twin beds that can be made into one double. There are two terraces. one on each floor.
The house is located right next to the port of the island of Hydra.
  • Superb appart. Location is the best. We would go back anytime. Really amazing island and to stay at this place made it even better.

  • We loved staying in this beautiful house! Came with our two kids and mother-in-law for a weekend from Athens. Lovely vintage decorations, exceptionally clean, very comfortable (AC in all bedrooms), and the location really can't be beat. It's an excellent base for exploring the island. Agree the layout is a bit awkward but that's the trade off for a wonderful old Hydra building. And Stathi was an excellent host! Hope to come back soon.

  • We loved our stay at Stathis's place, although we didn't meet him in person he made everything super easy. The apartment is beautifully decorated and fully equipped with everything you might need. He had a very nice girl meet us at the port and check us in. She walked us through all the steps in the house. We were just two, so it definitely felt way too big for us but it made us feel like royalty! I thought the layout of the house was cool and we loved the outside bathroom. Mornings on the balcony helped set off the morning vibes. Stathis was available at all times via email and gave us great food recommendations and also offered to help us extend our visit in Hydra by helping find another place to stay. (everything was booked in September, because Hydra is that beautiful) Thanks again, & we hope to be back soon. Best regards Andrea + Mike

    Andrea2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Stathis's place was five star. Location : The house is located just off the port- a short 2 min walk. Initially I had read that a lot of places can be accessed only by walking up steep slopes or multiple stairs but this place is easy to get to so don't worry about luggage ( though there are some internal building stairs to climb to get to the apartment itself ). The square the house is in has some amazing restaurants like Caprice and a deliacious global street food restaurant. There is a small super market right across the apartment as well and tons of bakeries, shops and restaurants just a few mins away. Space : Space is a gorgeous duplex. Tastefully and thoughtfully decorated with fantastic views of the town from both terraces. All your needs have been thought for and provided by Stathis. We loved it.

    Anushka2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was great! The configuration was a bit awkward, on the second and third floor of a house, but the apartment was very spatious, with nice decoration touches. The location was extremely central and very easy to get to from the port, restaurants and night life. In spite of that it was also very quiet. It is just a little hard to find so make sure you coordinate a meeting with Stathis or Dimitris when you first arrive. We would gladly stay again in the future!

  • I have been in Idra 3 times and this is the best apartment I have stayed in!! We were picked up at the port, got to the apartment and felt home right away. We were 4 people and had absolutely enough space on the 2 floors. Great communication, perfect clean-we even got more clean towels from the cleaning ladys downstairs. They were super helpful and sweet! We will definitely come back to this beautiful place. percent recommended!

The villa is 200sqm and the unique garden 800sqm.The house is split on two levels. Ground Floor:The living & dinning room the kitchen, one bedroom and bathroom. Top Floor:Master Bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a magnificent terrace.
The famous property was build in 1880 and fully restored in 2002. Apart from the excellent renovation on the house and the incredible interiors, one thing makes this property one of the most unique on the island, is the breathtaking view that one faces as soon as they enter.
The small historical island of Hydra has fairly been considered as one of the most popular traveling destinations around the world. The port of Hydra is located in the town of the island, that is spread over two hills, full of traditionally built houses (building rules on the island are extremely strict in order to maintain the unique atmosphere of the island throughout time). Apart from the natural beauty and history of the island, what makes it truly unique is that on wheeled vehicles are allowed, this includes of course cars, motorbikes, but even bicycles. All transportation is done by foot, donkeys, or water taxis, that take visitors to the islands secluded beaches. This fact makes Hydra unique in the sense that one gets the feeling that time has stopped. It is the perfect location to relax, slow down and enjoy a long lost way of life.
  • Beautiful home, beautiful amenities, beautiful view! We were greeted at the port by the caretaker, who walked us to the house. Luckily, we only brought backpacks and hiking shoes, because it's an up-hill trek! A donkey is a must for small children; we had a 3 and 6 year old. (Make sure to negotiate the donkey price, they love taking advantage of tourist!) But once at the home, wow! Well, worth the hike!

  • The house is beautiful, exactly what you would expect from the accurate picture and description, even more! It overlooks the harbour and the view is breathtaking. You just want to sit in the terrace and look around all the time. Everything is in perfect condition and very clean and tidy. Christina's assistance was punctual and always very kind. We had a wonderful experience and we will defintely come back!

  • Christinas place is very special. We spend 5 lovely days on the top of the hill, overlooking Hydra. As other people wrote before us, you cannot really describe the magic of the place. The house is perfect for 3-4 people, the walk up the hill takes about 20 minutes and after a few days you get used to it. The view from the house is spectacular. You get to see it all. Perfect sunsets, perfect sunrises of the new day. Just don't forget milk, coffee or wine in the village or you start your 2x20 minute walking routine again.

    Ulrike2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • A place to be ! The house is incredible, the garden and the view are famous. If the situation of the house are note near the port, it's in final a good position : far from the noise and the activity of the tourists! we appreciated ! A perfect and quiet place.

  • Christina's house was perfect. It's sit on the top of hydra and offers the most beautiful views and sunset watching. The house itself was beautifully decorated. Thanks again for a great stay!

  • This is an impressive home. First constructed in 1880 and then recently remodeled, it is an architectural gem, not to mention located in a peaceful and incredibly scenic position high up from the harbor. Yes, it is somewhat of a hike from the harbor to the villa, but it's great exercise and well worth the effort. Our host, Christina, was very welcoming, helpful and available during our stay. The villa is well equipped and wonderfully comfortable. We had a lovely time here.

    Idra, Attica, Greece

A truly unique multi-level house in the picturesque island of Ydra, built in 1870 and fully restored in 1967 by Greek artist Eleni Vernadaki. It's a three bedroom house with a fully equipped kitchen, large living spaces and multiple outside terraces and gardens, in a quiet neighborhood, ideal for a relaxing holiday.
The house was initially a bakery (the built-in oven is still part of today's kitchen) and the original architecture has been conserved. The house is 110sqm (1200 sq.ft.) in two levels, with several terraces around and a garden. On the ground level there is a fully equipped kitchen, a separate dining space, one of the bedrooms (2 single beds) and a small bathroom with shower. On the first floor there is a large living room and the other two bedrooms (pink room: double bed, yellow room: large single bed), as well as the second larger bathroom. Outside, one level up there is an external, covered dining room/kitchen with access to the garden and upper terraces.
Our house is located in a very quiet neighborhood, away from the hordes of tourists, but still only a 10min walk down to the port, where you'll be able to find anything you need. Right next to the house you will find a small grocery store (very convenient for basic supplies!) and a couple of more stores are located 4-5min away.
  • We had a fantastic 6 nights at the house of colours. It is very well equipped (including an espresso machine and selection of different coffees, teas and home-made jams) comfortable, as well being beautiful and having no less than 6 different terrace areas depending on whether you want shade, a view of the sunset or somewhere to eat breakfast! Piyi was away during the time of our stay but the check-in and check-out was handled by the housekeeper and was very easy and smooth. Piyi also called to check everything was OK on the first day and responded almost immediately to any queries we had by message after that. I don't use the term lightly when I say the experience was pretty much perfect! We hope to go back again in the future.

    John2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I stayed in Piyi's beautiful house for a week in July, and were overwhelmed by the elegance of the home, it's personality, and the ample and beautifully landscaped outdoor environments of which there were many. The check in process was extremely accommodating, as was Piyithroughout our stay, there were even beach towels and homemade local desserts waiting for us! The house is clearly an artistic one - the unique nature of its renovation, it's decoration and even the floor tiles were extremely special. I guarantee one of the most relaxing and enjoyable stays in Greece for any prospective guest.

    Eva2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We've just had a wonderful holiday in Piyi's house. She is a warm, well-organised host who answered all our queries quickly and efficiently. She personally met us at Hydra harbour, took us to the house and showed us round. She had also prepared, drinks, fruit and preserves for us, which was a lovely touch. Again when we left she phoned us to make sure all was well. The house is beautiful, full of character, well equipped, comfortable, spacious, with a choice of terraces for different times of the day. It is a real family house, not just a holiday rental, so you feel at home and you have plenty of space to relax inside and outside. During our stay we had one day of heavy rain (quite spectacular on Hydra!) but had a lovely day lounging about in the big comfortable sitting room, reading, playing games and listening to music. The house is high on the hill so the views are great and it is very quiet, but it is only 8- 10 minutes walk down to the harbour and to the nearest beach. There is a little food store just nextdoor, otherwise all the shops, cafés, restaurants, bars etc. are around the harbour. Not at all far, but up and down LOTS of steps, so you need to be reasonably fit to enjoy a holiday in Hydra! We wanted a relaxing holiday in a beautiful setting: we got that and more! We really recommend Piyi's house and we certainly hope to come back one day.

    Odile2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house of colors is absolutely gorgeous and inviting. It was spotlessly clean when we stayed. The kitchen is well stocked and still has the old wooden beams from its time as a bakery. You can lean into a chair on one of the many terraces, something that we did regularly (our favorite has a view of the bells on the little red church next door). The big house is unique and tastefully decorated, and it was fun for our kids to explore. And Piyi is an amazing host – very responsive, knowledgeable and kind. The housekeeper lives 5 min away and was there to help with everything we needed. Idra is only two hours by boat from Piraeus port in Athens but it feels worlds away. There are no cars or motorbikes, just donkeys and endless views of the Agean. The house is in a great spot, just a few minutes walk to the shops and restaurants of the port where you can take a boat to the nearby beaches. We have visited Greece a number of times, including trips to Thessaloniki/Chalkidiki, Crete and Rhodes. Even though this was our first time with children, it was easily one of the most beautiful and relaxing trips we have ever had. A perfect vacation - we will definitely be back.

    Tal2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Piyi’s house which is in a perfect spot next to an old church looking down over the town. You enter the property through a small jasmine scented garden, and into an enchanting house which has been beautifully decorated with a very creative eye. The house itself is beautiful and peaceful. Each room is unique, colorful, and cozy - nothing has been left to chance. For those who prefer to cook, like us, there is a small but extremely well-equipped kitchen downstairs and a larger open-air kitchen upstairs. The highlight of the house are the multiple terraces, where we spent our evenings watching the sunset. The location is amazing. A short walk from the port and away from the hustle and bustle. There are lots of little shops nearby for everything you could need. Piyi herself was a warm, friendly, and attentive host. She met us on the ferry and provided us with very detailed recommendations on beaches, restaurants, and the likes to make our stay perfect. Everything regarding the house was explained and her friendly housekeeper Katina was a phone call away whenever we needed anything. Hydra is a great place to go for a restful break with plenty of small pebbly beaches a short boat ride away from the town (recommend Bisti), many cafes to sit, sip delicious iced coffee, and watch the locals and tourists (recommend En Plo); however the house itself is so lovely and well appointed that we sometimes stayed home to read and lounge on one of the many the terraces. In short, this was a 5 star experience and we will definitely be returning after a wonderful holiday in a gorgeous traditional house, which has been renovated sensitively and with great style, and a truly wonderful host. See you next year!

  • We stayed here with another family and the arrangement was perfect. We have two small children, and the other family has one so the two different sleeping arrangements worked perfectly. The compound is lovely, quickly felt like home, and is in a fabulous location away from the main port but nicely located for beach access. The garden is fabulous and ended up being where we spent almost all of our time at home. Be advised that it is not without it’s quirks and is definitely not right for everyone. Little things, but you’re definitely left to fend for yourself for better or worse. The toilet in the lower level didn’t work and there was no hand soap provided. There were no garbage bags, nor any instructions as to what we should do with our garbage. There wasn’t a lot of space provided to unpack – a space clearly set up for four people had one available drawer. Each person was left with only one large towel along with a hand towel, so that one towel had to work for both the shower and the beach. The washing machine was broken, and while we were told to contact the local host if we need to do a wash it was a disappointment given that we had three kids and had planned on doing a wash (contacting someone else to wash our clothes seemed like a bit much). The wifi doesn’t work on the lower level, which is no big deal but perhaps good to know when booking for two family units. Some guidance as to where the local market is along with it’s hours would have been helpful, especially given that it is suggested visitors not drink the water on Hydra so a trip to the market is important shortly after arrival. Having all this said, we loved it and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

  • Wonderful house in a stunning setting. Great for a small group.

    Johanna2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • A brilliant house in a great location. Better than we expected with a lot more outdoor space than the photos show. Peaceful and private. Very comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. Excellent wifi (useful as we were there to work). Great location - a few minutes from the beach - so perfect for early morning/early evening swims. Fivos a kind and welcoming host. We'll be back!

  • This location was perfect for a place to escape to-quiet retreat and walking distance to so many places from great boutiques, restaurants to secluded beaches. Highly recommend this home & to visit the island of Hydra, Greece

    Sharon2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our trip to Hydra was in jeopardy because of the strike in Piraeus, but Vivos was extremely helpful in organizing a taxi to Metochi and then water taxi to Kamini. The trip went well and his housekeeper, husband and daughter met us and helped us with our luggage. First impression of the outside of the house was disappointing because of the pile of dirt and rubble right next to the house. The house itself was fine, although it needs to be said that access to the downstairs apartment is from outside ONLY. The kitchen is well stocked. The living room comfortable. The beds are a little hard, but I think that perhaps all Greek beds are on the hard side. We never met Fivos but he was always accessible and answered promptly. I was not able to get hold of the housekeeper through her daughter (who spoke English), but I communicated well with Fivos. We had trouble with hot water downstairs, but he was very accommodating and eventually we got it to work.

    Hilary2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time! Fivos was the best host with great tips about everything!!! The house was peaceful , with privacy and super relaxing with great arrangement and beds for all 6 persons! No air-condition but with fans in every room. More than one spots for sitting outdoors and enjoying the courtyard. The Kaminia area was very nice. Only 15' walk from the port/chora in which in between there are many nice restaurants to discover . The sea 5' walk ! Happy clients! We will definitely visit again.

    Daphne2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • We - 8 adults and one child - spent 5 days in Fivos' beautiful house in the cozy village of Kamini. The house (with two separate units) would be perfect for 6 people, but there were enough levels and terraces to scatter around even for 8. You can easily just spend the day at home, lounging on the seaview-roofterrace and reading in the lovely small garden. The house is well equipped, warm water and wifi worked problem-free, and the furnishing and tableware are very tasteful. We definitely want to return - thank you Fivos for your hospitality!

    Ariane 2017-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was our first time in Hydra and we found it to be an absolute paradise. Fivos' home was the perfect place for our family to stay---we loved the quieter Kamini village, beautiful views of the sea and town and his amazing garden. Although Fivos was in Athens, he was in regular contact to answer questions ahead of our trip. He also had a local host meet us in Hydra for check in and check out & was easy to reach by phone/email during our stay. If you're coming to Hydra with children, stay in Kamini and at Fivos' house!

A house made of stone at the side of the hill overviewing the port and the town of Hydra. A summer house of 70sqm with a large bedroom, sitting room, separeted kitchen, bathroom, back yard with garden and a large veranta with an awesome view over the island and the sea of Saronic Golf.
The house is a summer house where my family spended our holidays. It is not a tourist accomodation. It is left the way we enjoyed it so that my guests could feel and live the simplicity and the space it gives. With love and care I invite you to enjoy it too. I ask you to respect it and love it. Thank you.
It overlooks the town of Hydra. It is very calm and quite. It has space and light. Kiafa is the old part of Hydra, actually is the part of the island first to be inhabited from the end of the 15th century and on. It was a natural selter from pirots.
  • Dioni is a wonderful host and her place is awesome. Looking forward to another visit.

    Giannis2016-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Dioni really took the time and trouble to deepen our knowledge and experience of the Island and it's history. Her small flat downstairs enabled friendly and non-intrusive interactions, including sharing wonderful home cooked food and stimulating conversation. Hydra can be expensive and busy, there is no denying that, but what it offers in return is an opportunity to push beyond the port area into wonderful dramatic terrain, secluded bays, challenging / walkable mule trails, and thought provoking space. During my visit to Profit Ilias Monastery I only encountered 2 other people along the way, and climbing Mt. Eros was an entirely solitary and rewarding experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Hydra and would highly recommend Sigala's house and Dioni herself as the perfect host(URL HIDDEN)

  • Marvellous view from the terrace. Dioni is a very kind and welcoming person! Everything went well, totally satisfied

  • We had a great time on Hydra. The apartment is perfect and the view is amazing. Thank you Dioni for arranging everything and for your hospitality.

    Andreas2017-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Views that blow your senses and a fabulous spot on the balcony to watch Hydra and the world go by. The accommodation was comfortable, clean with an authentic rustic vibe that is hard to find these days. Clean and tidy with everything you need to just sit and soak up the natural beauty that Hydra has to offer.....or ponder the moments. Bring good walking shoes as the steps will keep you fit. We actually enjoyed the walks up and down as the food in Greece is so good. Nice way to keep the waistline in check...takes approx 20mins and picking the middle route is steeper but is an adventure and recommend to see all the great homes and Hydra life.

    Kim2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely House with a great view! If you're fit, the many steps from the port to the house shouldn't be a huge problem. The place is the ideal departure for walks to the monasteries, to beaches and mount Eros. The rooms are lovely furnished and especially the kitchen is well-equiped, there even is a washing machine. Of course, the huge balcony with its view is another highlight. Dioni gave us a warm and personal welcome with fresh watermelon, self-made liquor and sweets. And her fig marmelade is perfektly divine! Dioni is very open-minded and we've had good talks about Hydra, greek history and current topics.

    Anne2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Dioni's place is a great place to stay. Whilst it is certainly a steep walk up, the view is absolutely worth it. The location also means that you are really well placed to go for walks into the island. Dioni was very kind and helpful to us, a really perfect host. The house is older and charming because of it, though it had a few hiccups with the electricity, and Dioni got is fixed super-fast even though it was a public holiday when we were there. I'll definitely be going back.

    Rosie2017-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Dioni was great. The house is very nice, clean and tidy with an amazing sea view, perfect for late afternoon and mornings. The arrangements made by Dioni were also very good and she was very responsive to our questions. I strongly recommend this place for your holiday there

In Hydra, located in a quiet 19th century residential complex, where tradition meets luxury & vintage design characteristics, uphills of the main port of the island of Hydra in one of the innumerous picturesque alleys. Ideal for couples. There is also a beautiful quiet back yard with a big mandarin tree and plants which you can enjoy with your breakfast or anytime.

  • Lily's apartment was perfect for our week in Hydra. The apartment is fresh, calming and lovingly decorated. The location is 10 minutes walk from the harbour and very peaceful. There's a little shop almost next door with groceries if needed. Communication with Lily was straightforward and she gave us some recommendations for beaches and restaurants. We didn't meet Lily during our stay but her friend Chara met us at the ferry and showed us everything we needed. Highly recommended!

    Paul2015-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lily was great right from the beginning.. Very prompt at answering emails, kept in touch and was there to meet us off the ferry in Hydra even though we had to change our arrival time. Lilly also emailed us useful information about beaches and restaurants to visit. Lilly's vintage apartment was just as we imagined it to be. The outdoor area was bigger than it looks on the photo and was quiet and private. The apartment had everything we required and was immaculate with fluffy towels and quality bedding. It's spacious, extremely stylish yet comfortable. The location was brilliant... It is at the top of Hydra but it's a gradual climb and it's a wonderful experience walking through the beautiful pathways. Also it's located half way between Hydra harbour and Castella beach where we spent most of our time. About 10 minutes walk to each. There are 2 small shops almost next to Lillys to get fruit, yogurt, wine, water. We loved Hydra, loved the apartment and couldn't have asked for a lovelier host than Lilly.

    Louise2014-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • we were met from the port by a friend of the owner. She was very nice. The walk from the port is about 10 - 15 minutes and up a few steps, through the lovely cobbled mazy streets of hydra. the listing was as described. The patio is absolutely lovely, the bed is up some stairs which were quite narrow. The neighbourhood is very nice, very quiet. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely stay here again. The only downside is that it is a bit far from the port, and if you have heavy luggage, you'll probably need a horse to carry it up for you. There was even a bottle of wine waiting in the fridge for us!

    Alkisti2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • It was fantastic to stay at Lilly's loft. I've been there twice. The place is decorated with a lot of love and attention. Perfect location on this beautiful island. Lilly is a very sweet and thoughtful person. Everthing was well arranged and she responded always really quick. Hope I can be there again in the future!

    Korrie2014-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lilly was a great host! He is very friendly and before i arrived we had a perfect communication. Her friend collected me from the port and guide me until the house. The house was exactly like on the pictures and even better! It is located in a really quite neighborhood, just over the main square of the island. I really enjoyed my stay and I definitely recommend it for your vacation!

    Lydia2015-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lily's flat is wonderful, beautifully decorated and well furnished (she even managed to find a blender for my baby, so nice). Very well located between the main port (6-8 min) and the castello beach, easier and less crowded (6-8 min), it is calm and quiet. 2 delis surround the loft (less than 30 meters !), very convenient to avoid the many stairs of Hydra with your grocery ! I think the flat is bigger than in the pictures, and the terrace really enjoyable... Thank you Lily, it was a very great stay !

    Knoesel2016-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lilly's house is very beautiful, just as it appears in the pictures! The space was very clean and full of natural light, and the loft bedroom is fun and a great use of space. You do have a climb a few stairs to get to the house, but I think it's worth it to get a bit above the harbor and have a little more peace and quiet. I would definitely stay here again on a trip to Hydra!

    Wes2017-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lilly's place is really cute: well-organised and beautifully decorated. It was a great home base, offering a cool and calm retreat after day trips in the hot sun. All the details in the listing are accurate. The apartment is in a good spot in between the main and Kamini harbours. Lilly was very friendly and helpful, offering tips and making sure we had everything we needed. Thanks Lilly!

Our house is a traditional, sunny house with two internal courtyards. It is located in a very quiet neighborhood. It is only ten minutes from the port of Hydra and is fully equipped. Four meters from the house there is a small grocery store that operates on Sundays. There are easy access to sandy beaches (Kamini, Avlaki, Mandraki) and to beaches with rocks (Spilia). The transfer of baggage upon arrival and departure will be done by us.
  • Mr. Ioannis was a very pleasant and hospitable host that helped as very much at our arrival. He was waiting for us at the port with a cute grey donkey that carried our luggage. The house was 10 minutes away from the port by foot in a very quiet spot. The house has 2 private yards and air-condition and fresh lemons from the tree in our yard !!! We had a very nice stay and I would definitely go there again !!!

    Frini2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Ioannis place. It was a typical house, very authentic and charming, which is the experience we like. You really feel like a local. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable. It had two beautiful outside spaces, one which lead to a beautiful church which had a ceremony while we were there. Its a short walk to beaches and a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of the port, but still very close. Ioannis was lovely, he picked us up and dropped us off with his beautiful donkey and told us where to eat etc. We loved our stay at Ioannis place and Hydra and would definitely stay again.

    Dominique2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ioannis was a great host, from transporting of our luggage from the port to the apartment on the back of his donkey (!), to treating us to some of his recently picked olives! the apartment is quite typical, very comfortable and home-like, with a great terrace in the front and the most amazing private chapel one can imagine to visit in Hydra, from 1774. our sojourn was very much enriched from having stayed at Ioannis, and we can't wait to go back.

    Nuno2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Met at the dock by our host Dimitrius and his friend who owned the donkey to haul our luggage up the lanes to our accommodation. We walked the interesting journey alongside them. Our two bedroom house and courtyard met all our needs plus more - even had its only family chapel built in 1774. Our rooms were clean and tidy providing us with comfortable beds and pillows, quality sheets, fluffy towels. The shower had good pressure. Also supplied were shower gel and shampoo. The kitchen was fully equipped with full size fridge, microwave and stove/oven. We also had a washing machine, laundry liquid and clothes airer to wash and dry our clothes. Upon request Dimitrius suggested three restaurants our favourite two were Gitonikos and Douskos. We found a lively cafe downtown called Ciao Cafe and visited it three times. The house is approximately 30 minute walk from Kamini Castello beach. Upon arrival Our host spoiled us with gift of figs in syrup. Later he brought us fresh bread and lovely cakes made by his wife. On our departure the owner of the donkey brought us a gift of Greek sweets. Together we all walked down to the port and said our farewells. Our experience was magic. Christine and Cathy

  • Hydra is a wonderful island and Ioannis ha a wonderful host. The house was nice and well furnished. Being inside the village, it is very quiet and it is a pleasure also to stay outside to read or talk. The port with all the pubs and restaurants is not far and a walk in the small streets is rally nice. Thanks again to Ioannis and its beautiful donkey that helps us with the luggage;-)

    Filippo2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • The best of Greek Hospitality. Ioannis made me feel very welcome and went out of his way to make me feel at home. Charming rustic place next to a lovely shop. Beautiful short walk from the town.

    Stan2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ioannis and his brother were very friendly hosts. The house was in a nice quiet location just a few minutes away from the beach and taverns. Perfect location for a weekend getaway.

    Andrew2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Ioannis's house was perfectly located on the wonderful island of Hydra. It was less than a 10 minute walk up or down from the port depending on which street you walk down. The house was beautiful (it reminded me of my grandparents home in Ireland) and had everything we needed.

  • Wow. It is rare to find a place that exceeds the photos, but this was one! Gorgeous views of Hydra houses, churches and the ocean. Excellently stocked kitchen that inspired us to cook more complicated dishes than we usually do while traveling. Two lovely balconies to lounge or eat on while enjoying the ambiance. As the villa is up the hills from the beach, we easily worked off all the great food and cheap local wine we enjoyed. If you go to Hydra, definitely consider Nikolas's place!

    samantha2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in this charming villa! It is very well located, with an amazing vue! The landlord was very welcoming and helpful. We seriously consider coming back there next year!

    Val2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • The house is full of charm and perfectly located in between Hydra (main town) and Kamini (small fishing village). The view is wonderful ! The house is cosy and clean. Nikolas was always available and easily reachable at all time. We got a lot of help from him and his family in order for us to take the most of the island. In a few words, it was exactly the kind of stay we expected, just like in a movie ! Thanks Nikolas for everything, we hope to come back soon !

    Romain2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • This house is charming with two terraces offering gorgeous views of Hydra. It was clean and well outfitted. Note that getting to it involves lots of climbing up Hydra's steep, often stepped, streets. We didn't mind -- just an alert for those with mobility issues. And definitely get a donkey to carry your luggage up!

  • We loved our stay at Zoe's apartments with Nora. 10 minutes walk to the port in Hydra, we really appreciated getting away from the crowds and towards the beaches. Extremely beautiful area. Fantastic price. We were there in 40 degree heat though and we found that the lack of air conditioning made it difficult to sleep. The room had a fan in it so in cooler weather I think it would be fine. Great communication with host.

  • The stay at Zoe's place was perfect - a close walk to town, an even closer walk to accessible coastline for swimming and sunbathing. They were very kind to allow us to last-minute upgrade to a room with a balcony, which was well worth the (still affordable) cost. The hosts were kind and always available too. Highly recommend!

Excellent location for the price. Dora also provides beach towels which are a plus! WIFI was also reliable. I'm not sure if you will find a better price on lodging in Hydra.

  • Wonderful experience! Everything was great from the very first minute: Vicky met us at the port when our boat arrived and walked with us the short walk to the house. Vicky answered all our questions and made herself available if we needed anything, without intruding. The space is exactly as it appears in the pictures - spacious, clean, organized and cozy. Every amenity you may need - from TV and wifi to a fully equipped kitchen. The home is centrally located and you can easily walk to the port, where you can hop on a boat for a small fee to take you to a sandy beach, or walk to shops, restaurants or walk around overall and enjoy this beautiful island. I would highly recommend Vicky's place and I am already planning on staying there again. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality!

  • Airbnb was located in a residential area just a short walk from the water and near a market and restaurant. Host was accommodating with helping us understand the ferry schedule and helpful with anything we needed. We had a fantastic stay.

  • Βίκυ (Vicky), was an among hostess. The home was spotlessly clean and well supplied, even with little bath soaps and a fresh kitchen sponge. The location is superb! Very easy walk to the port with your luggage (no need for donkey). And easy access to all shops/dining options. The home was so comfortable that we had a hard time getting outside once we were inside! Haha. Vicky was very prompt for all communications and always happy to help. My only regret is that we did not stay for longer. But that means we’ll have to come back. :)

  • Great location, right next to the center. Spacious and much nicer than the photos! If you're looking to experience Hydra like a local, this is your place. Great host who was extremely responsive and waited for us to arrive on a boat that was extremely delayed. Great experience, we would definitely stay again!

  • Bíku's apartment was nicer and more spacious then what it looked like in the pictures, so it was a very positive suprise :) only issue was, that the walls were very thin and you can hear all the voices from the street and the neighbors. Still overall we had a lovely stay and could recommend this place to anyone. Bíku was a great host, very helpful and we had good communication. Thank you for having us! :)

    Emma2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was perfect and easily spacious enough for 4 of us. The roof terrace was an amazing addition! The flat was clean. Vicky came to meet us at the port when we arrived and came to see us just before left. This apartment is a 5 minute walk from everything you need on Hydra, would definitely reccomend the apartment or stay there again should I return!

  • We traveled with our four grown up kids and the house was very spacious for all of us. We had a very comfortable stay and we really appreciated that somebody met us coming of the ferry and walking us to the house. Thank you for a great stay, we would definitely come back.

  • We really enjoyed Rania's house and the two lovely terrasses. Good location with a short walk to everything in town.

    Hanne2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Rania is the best host one can have! She helped us with everything (transport and local suggestions) The apartment is excellent, 5 min from the port on a beautiful street, and it has a great terrace. Hydra is amazing, go for it! Thanks Rania!

    Catalin2016-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • Rania and her beautiful home in Hydra were amazing. She met us at the ferry and gave us excellent taverna recommendations. The place is huge -- far more space than the two of us needed. It could easily accommodate a much larger party. I very much enjoyed sitting on the rooftop in the evenings and the lower patio in the mornings. I would definitely come back! Thank you, Rania! Everything was perfect.

    Jessica2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Rania's place. Amazing terraces. Ideal for a group of friends with kids as we were. Thank you!

    Nina2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful experience! The island seems to be part of a long forgotten fairytale where one travels by horse or donkey as there are no cars, which is absolutely fantastic :) Rania is a very nice and open person, a promoter of Greek hospitality. Her house is very clean, cozy, comfy, fully equipped, centrally located, close to the harbour, shops and all the very nice traditional hidden taverns.

  • Lovely house in a great location. The hosts were very helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

  • We arrived early to Idra, but with guidance from Raina had a great time in the port while waiting. They were able to get us in early and the place was beautiful! The location is just a few blocks away from the port and easy to get to. The port is great for shopping/food/fun!! The house had way more accommodations than expected and we had plenty of space. The kitchen was great for cooking and the family room was just off that space so we could cook while the girls played/watched tv. Plus, there were tons of fun appliances (we didn't try out most of them, but they were available). Our favorite space was the upstairs outdoor porch area, it had tables and chairs and great plants. Raina was an amazing host and so kind!! You should definitely rent the airbnb!!!

  • Wonderful place

  • Atmospheric, with a sense of being in a gracious home. Close to everything. Couldnt be better. A great guide in Christos.

    pooja2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Mike met us when we disembarked. As he had advised he was waiting for us and guided us during the short walk to Wisteria House. Wisteria House is only a short distance from the Sea Cat landing. We arrived at glorious traditional Greek dark blue double doors. We carried out cases up the beautifully lit wooden staircase to the entrance hall. The previous guests had been delayed in leaving but Mike ensured that two rooms were ready so that we could leave luggage while we explored. This allowed for housekeeping to be completed to a high standard. A huge bowl of fresh fruit and bottles of water were left for us. The house is elegant and full of character. There are two adjoining public rooms to the front- an airy sitting room and an elegant dining room. There is a balcony to the front and both rooms lead to this through large French Windows. The apartment has two double rooms and two twin rooms. Although it is a classical period property, air-conditioning is available although I hardly needed this thanks to high ceilings and pretty windows and shutters. There are two spacious shower rooms with delicious toiletries and all rooms were given white fluffy towels, cotton slippers and toothbrushes. My bed was fresh and comfortable. The flat is in a fantastic location- close to restaurants but still tranquil. I slept so well- a rare pleasure. The kitchen is well equipped- I especially loved the Scilla plates (I have these!) but there is such an abundance of great places to eat that we had nibbles but no meals at Wisteria House. Mike was extremely helpful, giving excellent personalised recommendations and ensuring that he could be easily contacted. We managed to see so much in the short visit. Wisteria House is beautiful with all kinds of items of interest, glorious pictures, naval objets d'art, sculptures. I loved it and would recommend this accommodation highly. A really special house in a wonderful location.

  • This apartment was an absolute delight. Christos was fantastic with arranging check in and check out. So helpful and the fruit was a lovely welcoming touch. The apartment was centrally located but very peaceful at night. A magical experience in a fantastic location with great hosts! A million thanks, we will be back! Lorna, Alan, Alan and Christie.

  • An amazing house with great space in the middle of the town. A stone's throw away from the port.

  • Very charming Greek apartment, larger than we expected. Each room has its own air conditioner. Four bedroom, two bathroom. Two of the bedrooms come equipped with double beds and two with twin beds. We had plenty of towels and soap. Comfortable living room and dining room area. Fully equipped small kitchen. All of the rooms are nicely furnished and decorated with a quaint old Hydra beach theme. Steep staircase leads up to this second floor apartment. Very centrally located to restaurants, beaches, and all port facilities. Easy walk to swimming beaches. No donkey needed. We had an amazing time on Hydra.

  • Perfect old mansion with all modern amenities one may need. Very clean, great beds with excellent mattresses, plenty of space. We were a party of 5 and really enjoyed our stay beyond expectation. The hostess just great offering advise and making sure we felt at home.

    Leonidas2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the rare places to which you look forward to come and on the spot you realize it's actually even better than you have expected. We have enjoyed our stay a lot. There was practically all what one could possibly need, generous water and fruit supplies, a/c, bathroom amenities, towels, good wifi... all. It's close to the port but still sufficiently away from the noisy places to go out. Rooms were nicely decorated, very clean and spacious (2 rooms with double beds, 2 rooms with twin beds). Mike, who takes care of the property is a super friendly guy, who knows the island well, which was very useful. We hope to come back!

  • A perfect stay. Great host, beautiful place, beautiful island.

  • The island of Hydra is beautiful, and Dina's house is the perfect place to stay. We had planned to eat dinner in a restaurant, but after we saw the view from the terrace, we bought food and served it from the terrace, so we could watch the sunset over the water. The house is really comfortable for adults: the open staircase to the bedrooms might not work well for families with young children. The air conditioning worked well and the kitchen is equipped. Dina sent her friendly daughter to show us the way to the house, and we hope we get the chance to return.

    Cindy2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Dina's home is just stunning. Sits on top of the a hill overlooking the port and has two porches - one large one on the lower floor and then one balcony off the master bedroom. Beautiful sunsets, cooling breeze, close to restaurants but not down in the mix. The house is clean, has a simple layout with everything you need and nothing you don't. The place is just delightful. Would stay again no question.

    Mackenzie2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • It´s a lovely home with wonderful views. The second bedroom is not quite as nice as the main one and has two beds. A lot of steps to climb to reach the house but Dina was wonderful and carried our cases up!

    Jean2017-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • I would gladly stay at this property again - great terrace and amazing views of Hydra harbor. Be sure to catch the sunset! It's a bit of a walk uphill but well worth it.

    MaryAnn2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Dina's place is incredible! It had two spacious balconies with unbelievable views of the harbor, facing the sunset. Additionally, the apartment itself is spacious and comfortable. Dina was accommodating and kind, she worked with our unpredictable schedule, and she met us at the dock to escort us to the apartment. If I'm in Hydra again, I will absolutely seek out her place to stay again.

    Robert2017-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • The house is big and is well situated. Perfect for friends to enjoy a beautiful sunset.

Our holiday home in Hydra is a house with 4 apartments, this one is a 50 sqm modern studio. Located in outskirts of town. Beautiful views to mountains and village. Peaceful surroundings. Private terrace. Fully equipped kitchen, sleeps 4, free wifi.
Apartment for rent in idyllic, beautiful, car-free Greek Island of Hydra. Modern holiday home with TV, dvd and vhs video, airconditioning, washing machine, fully furnished kitchen, free wifi. and toys for kids. Family friendly. The 50 sqm apartment has a 12 sqm terrace in front of house. Mountain views, quiet and family friendly. Prices vary according to season starting from 52 euro per day. The house is in peaceful surroundings in the outskirts of town, up the mountain, which means approx. 10-15 minutes walk from the harbour upwards, and 5-10 minutes downwards. The island is car-free and entirely preserved by the Greek state. Lively harbour front with many cafés, bars, tavernas and shops. Small fishing villages with lovely tavernas. Good quality of food and authentic Greek cuisine, due to the high number of Greek visitors. Lovely, small beaches, some nearby, some by fishing boat "taxi". Nearest swimming place is 5 minutes from the harbour front. Good diving, mountain hikes and monasteries. Total stress-free relaxation and special adventures in an original Greek environment, where a taxi is either a boat or a mule !
We love that our neighborhood is peaceful and away from the busy harbour front. We love the mountain views and the sound of the mountain goats. We love our balcony and our terrace. We have a small fruit orchard and kids may play around the house, although they should get used to the many rocks.
  • Excellent!! Villa Hydra has severalapartments in the same building high on the upper limits of Hydra-town.....a walk of 20 minutes uphill brings you to the edge of town where you now face Mount Eros , terraced old farming strips , and a rural , quiet , peaceful place ; one of the nearest neighbors is a walled monastery compound.....the trails to nearby peaks and distant communities begin nearby.....many swimming locales are within hiking distance ; one should be physically fit or at least interested in becoming fit - my wife and I are in our mid 60's and just loved being forced to exert a bit more.....exploring east, west, and UP! was also physically lots of fun !!.....then we could guilt-free eat more easily! More than adequate was our (the smaller apt) space and responsive to the max was Mette, our host....who answered texts quickly and solved all of our issues promptly..... we gradually met many shopkeepers, boat people, and other tourists.....a delightful, relaxing, stay on Hydra-Highest Recommendations!!

    Timothy2014-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really good time on Hydra and in the lovely (child friendly) appartment. Our hosts were co-operatively and helpful, the apartment nice and with a great view! Nothing to complain, only good experience!!

    Sarah2017-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • The setting could not be more perfect--this house is on the edge of town, right on the hillside. You'll really get a feel for Greek country life--animal noises, fresh air, and donkeys going by. There were some start-of-the-season inconveniences (e.g. stove not working, bed was not made), but Mette was an absolutely attentive & very caring host, and I have no doubt these will be resolved as soon as possible. I would absolutely plan on returning! Things to know: --the walk up to the house is ~15 minutes from the waterfront. This will be physically challenging if you have to drag a rollerbag up; if you have heavy luggage, a donkey is recommended. --cheapest supermarket is the "Special K Mart" right on the waterfront--you can grab some snacks here and enjoy them on the patio. --The trail to the lighthouse is right outside of the front door--highly recommended!

    Ksenia2015-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Mette's apartment was lovely! She arranged for the place to be ready for us when we arrived, and have wonderful directions to get there! Her informational packet at the apartment was lovely! Hydra is beautiful, and I would love to return!

    Erin2014-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend this flat highly enough. It has all of the necessities and has a beautiful and quiet setting. Mette was incredibly helpful and responded very quickly to any questions. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

  • No one for receiving us at Home. The place was not cleaned (problem with the maid, sick or whatever...). Finally We got the flat more or less clean. The most disappointing was the fact beds were not done. We asked metta if it Was a missed thing, she did answer "please check out airbnb conditions it's not an hotel"... Sorry but We have a flat in airbnb in Paris and We do the beds cause We think travellers after long trip does not have To do that. That is airbnb Spirit and not condition. However the flat was convenient (but no View on the sea I prefer notice it) there are toys and movies for kids that is Nice! PS since last week We have done 4 airbnb and all beds were done (even for the kid!

  • I can only repeat, what I have said one year ago. She is a very nice and friendly person and open for everything, and everything is fine, and the appartment has a wonderful balcon, from where you have a great and wonderful outlook. I feel me at home there, and I will come again to this place as soon as possible. Its also a good place for someone, who likes to write.

Spend your holidays in Hydra, the ultimate Greek destination for relaxation & tranquility that blends tradition with class. Our beloved home dates back to 1760 and is furnished with antiques and other vintage items that resemble Greece of the 1800s.
The outdoor area of the ground floor includes a small patio-lounge surrounded by a beautiful garden filled with long trees that provide shade and create a pleasant breeze necessary for the hotter summer days. Inside, there are 2 rooms. The first entails our indoor dining area, the main bathroom with indoor shower (we prefer the 2 outdoor showers in the summer though), a fully equipped kitchen, as well as 1 single bed. The second room is the main bedroom, which has 1 king size bed and 2 single beds. This room is ideal for a couple (with or without kids) or a group of friends. In the middle level upstairs there is a separate suite with a queen size bed, living room, restroom, and staircase leading to the top level. Walking out the door in the middle level you are in the veranda, which includes an outdoor dining area, outdoor shower, a little garden, lounge area with chaises and pillows, and a well that we usually utilize as a side table for drinks in the evening. Finally, the top level includes a built in king size bed and a balcony that enjoys the best view in the house. You can enjoy unobstructed sea views and definitely one of the best sunsets you have ever seen!
Hydra (pronounced ee-dhr-ah) is truly the gem of the Saronic Gulf, is only 40 miles from Athens by ferry, and stands alone among Greek islands as the one free of wheeled vehicles. No cars. No scooters. Just tiny marble-cobbled lanes, donkeys, rocks and sea. Artists (Brice Marden, Nikos Chatzikyriakos-Ghikas, Panayiotis Tetsis), musicians (Leonard Cohen), actors and celebrities (Melina Mercouri, Sophia Loren) and travellers have all been drawn to Hydra over the years. So in addition to the island's exquisitely preserved stone architecture, criss-crossing rural paths, and crystal clear waters, you can find amazing little traditional mom and pop tavernas and vibrant aesthetic bars. The mules and donkeys are the main means of heavy transport (along with water taxis) and they, along with the rustic aspects of life on the island, give Hydra its two faces: chic and earthy. Our house is located in the traditional village of Kamini, which is only 10-15 minutes walking distance from the main port and 2 minutes by water taxi. The house dates back to the 18th century, when it was given dowry to a young lady from the island who was about to marry a sailor. The house is overlooking the village and the sea view is breathtaking!
  • Dimitris is an amazing host! Very detailed and thorough in his communication, he was very helpful in whatever question we had over the weekend whether that was looking for pans in the kitchen or asking tips about the tavernas in the neighborhood. The location/neighborhood is amazing with the house being a few steps from the water (the best beach on the island is 10mins away walking distance (no other option anyway) in a very scenic and beautiful path but you can also get on the water from the rocky platform that is 2mins away from the house. The house now, is AMAZING! Very spacious and clean and decorated with vintage furnishings. We were only 2 people but this place can easily sleep up to 10. It's ideal for 2 families who want to combine fun with vacations with children, or a big group of friends. The view from the top floor balcony, especially during the sunset time, is unreal. Overall, it was the best experience I have ever had in Hydra and we will definitely be back!

    Alkistis2015-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • The place looks just like the photos. It's in an adorable residential neighborhood about a 20 minute walk from the shops and restaurants. Yannis was great at providing information and restaurant recommendations. The house has tons of sleeping areas and outdoor space. The door on the small upstairs bathroom doesn't stay closed very well, but otherwise everything worked great!

    Holly2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing View & sunset, wonderful House & terraces, helpful & very kind owner... on a terrific island ! Kamini is just a perfect stay with 3 lovely tavernas and at 15 mn by foot of the main port. We'll be back !!! Memorable Holidays. Géraldine & friends (Paris)

    Geraldine2015-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience in this house was truly unique! We were a group of 6 friends staying at the house for a weekend. The view from the house is breathtaking (probably the best view of the sunset on the island) and the house itsself is a gem. Preserved in an excellent condition, perfectly clean, with fully equipped kitchen and fresh towels and sheets. The area of Kamini is lovely, quiet and only a 10 minute walk from the Port. What else can you ask for? Great for 2-3 couples, groups of friends or families with children. The communication with the host was very smooth and he made sure we have everything we needed at all times. So sad to be going back home, hopefully we will visit this beautiful place sometime soon!

    Christina2015-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • The stay at Yanni's place was great. We lovely quietness of Kamini, amazing view from the top and main verandas and just the ambience of the 18th century stone house. The interior is truly beautiful and the house is well equipped so makes your stay easy!

    Aleksandra2017-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • We (my wife, brother in law and niece) really loved staying here over Christmas. The house is really cosy and quirky with two amazing terraces benefitting from the sun all day and beautiful views of the ocean (which is actually closer than it seems in the pictures). Apparently the Camina Bay tavernas are really nice but unfortunately they were closed over Christmas so we either water taxied (5 mins for €10), or walked (about 15 mins, either around the coast or over the top through the village - both really nice walks) to the main port. Yannis was really helpful with organising our mule man on arrival, making restaurant suggestions and went over and above when organising our onward journey with a difficult car hire.

  • Hydra is a beautiful island and we enjoyed staying there for a couple of days. The room is located in a small hotel literally next to the port. It is clean, and there is a very nice balcony (with an amazing view on Hydra's mountains). The hosts were friendly and helpful.

Villa Jason, built in the early 19th Century, is a traditional two bedroomed stone house set above harbour of Hydra, with generous outside space and stunning sea views. This home away from home has been in our family for over 40 years; its elegant simplicity and the views it affords are second to none. The house is packed with original features, comfortable and functional and maintains all of the warm charm of an island home.
The master bedroom (with super-king bed) is in a separate annex with a small en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is on the lower ground floor of the main house and features one double bed as well as a single bed which is within a low-ceiling platform area, ideal for kids. On the first floor is a large traditional 'virani' living room and dining area on the first floor, as well as a good-sized kitchen and a second shower room. Outside there's a mature olive tree and a pergola with a grape vine over it providing shade for when it's hot, terraces on various levels, further dining options and ideal spots for that morning coffee, sunbathe, evening drink, watching the boats come into port, the rise of the moon or just gazing at the stars.
Hydra, pronounced Ydra, is one of the Saronic Islands of Greece, which includes Aegina, Angistri, Poros and Spetses. Hydra is perhaps the most beautiful port village in Greece. A tiny harbour ringed with cafes, restaurants and jewellery shops is surrounded by a village of stone houses and villas that rise up the hills like an amphitheatre. There are no cars, everything is moved by donkey, including groceries, building supplies, people and their luggage. The main hobby on Hydra and on most islands is people watching (Hydra is the former home of Leonard Cohen and stomping grounds of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Pink Floyd, Joan Collins and many other famous and not so famous people). You can get a coffee or a beer and sit in a cafe all day long and nobody will ask. The island has a number of pebble beaches, many with very good tavernas, which are reached on foot or via water taxis which provide regular trips to and from beaches such as Vlychos, Plakes, Bisti and Ayas Nikolas.
  • Perfect house at a terrific location overlooking the busy harbor. Though the 270 steps leading up the house can be tiring from time to time you will definitely be spoilt with superb views, a lot of sunshine and a quiet place to spend your holidays at. We particularly enjoyed the individual interior and practical kitchen with almost everything you might need. Definitely recommended.

  • Villa Jason is located perfectly, giving you a beautiful view of the harbor, the town and the whole bay and mountains on which it is built. The price you obviously pay for this is walking up and down 200 to 300 steps, depending on the route you chose to take. There are longer and less strenuous ways, as used by the poor donkeys, who have to transport the luggage up and down. Since there is no other transportation on the island (apart from the water taxis) which are great for getting to beaches or just to get around the island), the donkeys have a tough life on Hydra. If you like cats, you'll love Hydra. They are everywhere! Most are really well "groomed" for wild cats. They are really tame and will tend to keep you company during every meal, but they are very patient and well- behaved. The town is small but the few shops and restaurants are of a high standard ( I don't mean the usual souvenir shops, but there are only a few of them). The Greeks on Hydra, many from Hydra or have been living there for a long time, are really friendly and don't treat you like a tourist (unless you behave like one!). Villa Jason and Hydra are certainly worth a visit, if you want to enjoy a peaceful vacation in a great location. Hydra doesn't cater for mass-tourism luckily. Otherwise, try Santorini, Mykonos and Co. ( party islands like Ibiza and Rimini - ok, not an island, but trashy). We were there for 10 days or so at the end of September/ beginning of October - almost the end of the season, but the weather was mainly good ️ 25C and you didn't notice that people just wanted to close their shops or restaurants at all. We will certainly return to Hydra and possibly to Villa Jason, if vacant.

  • We had a perfect stay at Villa Jason. It is true to the photos, aside from the views which are even more beautiful. Christina & Argyris were really friendly and helpful on arrival with some great recommendations for the island. We had everything we needed within a short walk from the Villa. Ydra is a special place - highly recommended!

This house is for those who want to enjoy the holidays in Hydra island without walking because it is situated in a most central place only 60 meter from the port , and with all the coffee shops the restaurants the super market and the boats for the beach nearby !
The neighbor is on the center and very convenient with all the facilities around, for example the closest place for swimming only 5 minutes . There are 3 super markets around and many restaurants !

Traditional Hydra Stone Building, fully renovated and with a great view all the harbor of Hydra from the large central window.
The neighborhood is picturesque and quiet. It does not have shops very close, but on the 2 'walk there is a grocery store and mini market "The four corners". Sell and fresh bread !!
  • Semely provided good photo map instructions to help us find the house, and made picking up keys very easy - from a local bar. The house is characterful, and the view from the window is wonderful. My husband and I booked a four night stay in November and enjoyed unusually warm weather on Hydra but were thankful that there was a heater in the house as it felt cool inside (a benefit in the summer). The accommodation would benefit from updating - particularly the small 'double' sofa bed and old fashioned bedding - we moved on to find a real bed after three nights.

  • We loved everything about the room! Very good location, fantastic view and Semely is very friendly and helpful!

  • Thanks Semely for hosting me and my wife at your lovely and cute place. We had a great time at Hydra!

  • Neat little studio apt in a pretty quiet part of Hydra town. The host Semely rents out the buttom room and occasionally stays in the upstairs apt. during summer. Very convenient for a quick chat or advice but not even necessary as she is very attentive, and excellent at communicating online (Viber, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), e-mail, Airbnb msg etc) She clearly cares about her guests wellbeing. Studio could do with a little upgrading (originally her Grandma's place) but the price point reflects this imo. 100% satisfied. Would come back anytime.

  • The little house of Semely at Hydra is wonderful. You feel like home and the view is speechless!

  • We absolutely loved this airbnb. Upon arriving, Semely had described exactly how to get there, so we didn't have any trouble finding it. Her cousin greeted us at the apartment and showed us around. The apartment was amazing and the view really is as stunning as depicted on the picture. Everyone we interacted with during our stay was very sweet and Semely made sure we had everything we needed. An awesome experience!

  • Semely was very helpful with communication before arriving in Idra. Her sister greeted us and made us feel very welcome. We met Semely the next day and she had many good suggestions for things to do. The apartment is cozy and with very nice features and in a convenient location. And the view of the harbour really is spectacular!! Highly recommended!
