Church
“Actually, this place was built up in the 2nd Century; this building of the Church Santa Pudenziana was erected in the 4th Century. We are looking thus at more that 16 centuries of history. The main sight inside is the beautiful 4th century mosaic over the altar (see picture). Beside this mosaic, Santa Pudenzia has much to offer in decoration and atmosphere. A curious fact is, that the right side of the church started as a Roman bath house in the 2nd century. You can still spot the layout of the stalls. Outside, the history of the church is made clear, because the building is now far under street level, the small piazza can be reached by a staircase. Interesting is the bell tower in north Italian style; this bell tower was added much later, in the 13th century. ”
