Vacation Rentals in Homewood

Just booked in Homewood

Beautiful pine cabin on the West Shore (locals know it as the "Best Shore") of Lake Tahoe. This is my favorite place on earth and I'm happy to share it with you!
Beautiful pine cabin in the woods of Tahoma. Main floor consists of living room with beautiful stone wood-burning fireplace, kitchen, bedroom (1 Queen), and full bathroom (shower only, no tub). Upstairs is a full-floor attic bedroom (1 Queen, 2 Twin) with a half-bath. Non-sleeper sofa in living room or additional air mattress (not included) could potentially accommodate one or two additional guests for a total of seven or eight. Newer (installed 2011) gas furnace heats the space comfortably. Just four blocks from the lake and a short drive to many North and West-Shore ski destinations (Homewood is about 1 mile away), this cabin is right where you want to be in any season; close to fun activities but removed enough to feel like you've escaped. The neighborhood market (PDQ) makes the best sandwiches on earth, has a great selection of DVD rentals perfect for snowy nights, and provides easy access to essentials if you find yourself in need. A portion of your reservation fee will be donated to Friends of West Shore, a non-profit organization benefitting the preservation of Tahoe's West Shore communities, and to The League to Save Lake Tahoe, an organization that works with California and Nevada government agencies to protect the habitat of the Tahoe Basin. Please note: second floor is accessed by a ladder staircase (see pictures), not handicap or pet accessible.
  • Cole's cottage was an awesome place, would love to revisit if I'm back in the area. It was well kept and his instructions on getting everything running were precise.

  • Cole was a great host! He was flexible, courteous and extremely responsive. The cabin had everything we needed and was exactly as the pictures show it. A beautiful spot and a great vacation! would def. come back next time we are in the area. Just don't forget to pick up some firewood on your way because there is a really cute and useful fireplace in the living room!

    Emily2012-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable, cozy cabin that provided everything we needed! And only a short walk to some grocery stores, restaurants, and coffee places - we loved it! A great place to spend a weekend.

    Summer2012-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cole was fast at responding to messages even though it was a busy time of the year. The house manual was very useful and with detailed instructions for everything. The cabin is incredibly cozy and equipped with just about everything you could need. Lots of storage place and beds were super comfortable too. My family loved staying here for new years. It is also very close to Homewood which is a very reasonably priced resort for skiing/snowboarding. We made fire in the fireplace and that added to the charm of the cabin. Few minor things: The tap in the kitchen is very funny. The hot and cold markings are wrong and it takes a lot of skill to make it work properly because it's very loose. If you don't work it right, you could burn your hands with the hot water. There was a power outage on our first day and the cabin became very cold during the day since the thermostat controller was electric. Heaters won't work either. Have firewood handy in case this happens so that you can warm up the cabin. Lastly, the shower cubicle is tiny. Be careful when you open it after showering as all the water tends to get out and pool near the toilet. Minor things aside, we absolutely LOVED this place. I would very highly recommend Cole's place. We will be booking it again for our next trip to Tahoe!

  • Cole's cabin in Tahoma is a great place to unwind and relax or as a base to go skiing in one of the many resorts in the Sierra Nevada area. The cabin was very cozy and in a wonderful location. Short walk to the beautiful Sugar Pine State Park and the lake. Everything is as described and Cole was always responsive and easy to deal with. We didn't want to leave!

    Piers2015-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cole was very responsive and left great instructions. He also accommodated early check-in. Thanks, Cole! I was a little disappointed by this cabin. In 30 degree weather, it's very difficult to warm it up without firewood. The furniture felt aged and outdated. And I would suggest replacing the mattresses. The kitchen is very small and the toilet on the main floor would choose to be uncooperative at random intervals. We liked the Fire Sign Cafe, which was only a 15-minute drive away. And I appreciate that the cabin is dog-friendly.

    Sarah2014-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Cole was very friendly, helpful, and responsive. The cabin was clean, comfortable, cozy, and in great condition.

    Frank2015-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for a lovely time in your cabin Cole. Beautiful and my parents who flew over from England loved it!

  • This is my second stay at Missy's place. The place was so good, so I wanted to have my parents experience this place this time. We had wonderful time, and my parents enjoyed their stay. Thanks, Missy and Sandy! :) I hope I can go back there to ski this winter.

  • What could be better than living across the street from the most beautiful lake in the world? That's what you get to do when you stay at Missy and Bill Sandeman's Lake Tahoe home. Whether your into hiking, biking, water sports or simply lounging on you own private patio, the Sandeman's have created a warm and casual environment that makes you feel relaxed and refreshed. When we arrived there was a plate of homemade chocolate chip cookies and a bottle of wine waiting for us in our room. The following morning we were treated to a healthy breakfast of egg and mushroom quiche, fresh fruit, muffins, juice and coffee. Did I mention you have access to a private beach? It's only a short walk away. And the Sandeman's have two Kayaks and two paddle boards for your use. There is so much to do in Lake Tahoe and all within a short walk or ride away. The Sandeman's do it right. Thank you Missy and Bill for enriching our experience.

  • I wish there was a category for 6 stars, because Missy's and Sandy's place would deserve each and every one of them! Not only is a fantastic place with super cozy bedrooms and a fantastic common area you share with the second upstairs room, it's also nicely located. You can walk to the Homewood Ski resort and the great restaurant across the street from it, but you're also just far enough away from Tahoe City to find a bit of peace and quiet whenever you wish. Even better though are the hosts! I immediately felt at home. Missy and Sandy are going to take great care of you and are a wealth of knowledge and tips for the area. I will definitely return the next time I visit Lake Tahoe!

    Tobias2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Missy and Sandy went above and beyond our expectations. This was my husband's and my first private room Airbnb experience and it was wonderful. The loft is warm, inviting and beautifully decorated. Their hospitality really shines through from being welcomed with homemade cookies to waking up to a warm breakfast, to coming back to homemade soup after a long day of skiing. They genuinely want their guests to feel at home and enjoy their stay. Thanks again we will definitely be back!

    Megan2017-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Missy and her husband Sandy were wonderful, gracious hosts who were very interesting to talk to. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at their beautiful and well appointed apartment. The bed was also super comfy. We hiked, kayaked, and enjoyed sunrises on the semi-private beach that is part of the deal. They had wine and cookies for us on the first day, fed us delicious breakfasts, and kept plenty of snacks on hand. Five stars!

    Linda2016-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent hosts with a great space! Take advantage of the kayaks on the private beach, and Missy and Sandy's local knowledge for hikes etc. And yes, the muffins are fantastic!

    Bret2017-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place really feels like home! Being greeted with homemade cookies and wine really set the tone for the rest of our stay. Missy and Sandy's home gave us the right amount of space and activities to make vacationing there a breeze. I only wish I knew how to make her delicious muffins!

Our unique round house has a wonderful ambiance and is nestled on a meadow at the bottom of Homewood mountains. There is a nice trailhead within walking distance, private beach access where you'll find gorgeous views and tasty cocktails at the pier bar. Ski resort, snow park, public transport, the outdoors space and the neighborhood are great. This house was built to entertain and is good for couples, business travelers, families (with kids), and big groups.
This is a very spacious house that can accommodate a very large group without feeling crowded. There is an elevator for those that can appreciate the ease of getting to the third floor from the ground. There are 2 bars to keep adults entertained.
Lake Tahoe shore is 2 blocks away. A nearby convenience store carries most of the essentials that can be forgotten (0.5mi)
  • Fantastic place for a large group! Clean, beautiful home with a gracious host. The check-in and check-out was fast and easy. There were enough beds, blankets, pillows and towels for 16 people. I would suggest bringing your own hand soap, shampoo, and body wash. Some of these items were provided but were not included in every bathroom. Also bringing paper towels is a good idea because our one provided roll ran out quick! Overall, I would highly recommend this place and would definitely consider coming back.

  • At the interest of your time, I would like to give a couple of suggestions to all those who are reading this review. 1. You are lucky enough that you are thinking of this house. Don't loose this opportunity to book this house. 2. Do you love watching the sun rise or sun set just in 1000 ft walking distance? Don't go anywhere just book this house. 3. Do you love to spend $1 but get value worth of $10? You are almost there, book this house. 4. I think that we have to be lucky enough to be a success in casinos. I feel the same to have this house in our options also. 5. One last thing, I cannot compare this house to any other house as I don't have any idea about other homes in Tahoe but stay in this house could never be any less. Believe me. Once again thanks Mela for your valuable guidelines and your house. Most enjoyed things in the house. 1. Sunrise and sunset views in walkable distance 2. Snooker pool 3. Dining area and the living room 4. And the mystery bedrooms of course. Regards, -Rama

  • Our group of 8 adults 2 dogs, and 4 children, ages 4 months up to 3 years old, enjoyed our Labor Day weekend getaway at the Mystery House. The house was perfect for our size and diverse group! If your bringing toddlers, consider bringing a couple baby gates for the stairs, otherwise someone will have to be very vigilant at monitoring them. They loved going up and down and disappearing down the stairs at every opportunity! Also, if you plan to do much cooking or baking, bring everything you need as the kitchen isn't fully stocked and the local market is quite expensive if you have to make a grocery run. Also, bring your own storage containers or zip lock bags for leftovers. We resorted to covering bowls with plates for storage rather than spending anymore money on basic supplies! The house has a guest pass that you can use for Chambers Landing beach, which is within walking distance, and I highly recommend using it! We spent much of our time there swimming and drinking the local concoction called "Chamber's Punch," and we didn't mind spending money on those! It was nice having a place that was child and dog friendly..just don't expect any new, high end furnishings for this reason! Overall, a great place for a large group with kids and dogs, and only a couple blocks to the gorgeous lake! P.S. Don't forget to bring your s'mores and folding chairs for the fire pit!

  • Mela's home was comfortable and the location was great! We were able to play in the snow with our sleds just outside the house so that was super convenient as we had a few little ones in our group. The house was plenty big for our group of 10. Mela was a great host!

    Tami2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Pros: - Large 5 bedroom, 4 bath house that accommodated our large family of 12 adults and 4 kids. - Game room with pool and darts - Elevator and step-in shower accommodated our family member in a wheelchair Cons: - A large pile of dead ants were found in the common areas. Live and dead ants continued to fall off the ceiling beam during our stay. I contacted the host immediately and she got back to be within a few hours but with a less than empathetic response that the house is situated in nature and that she hopes we understand that it's not within her control. However, I had to explained to her that the house should have been properly cleaned up before our arrival.  After a few more correspondences, she offered us to take home a bottle of wine as a souvenir. We had little toddlers in our party so one can imagine how grossed out I was when the kids starts playing with the pile of dead ants that were on couches and common areas. We spent time vacuuming down the floors as dead ants appeared. But we never touched the large pile of dead ants that were there. Nor did Mela suggest any other solution to get it cleaned up. We just walked around it for the 4 days we were there. - Cleanliness of kitchen appliances (I.e. water heater and coffee maker), and quality of kitchen knives. If you plan to cook most of your meals I would recommend you bring your own set of knives for preparing food.  - Location: somewhat remote to locations of interest...30 min drive to south lake Tahoe, and 50 min to sand harbor. But it's very close to squaw valley. So this depends in where you want to spend time. - No hand soap in the bathrooms, there were only some used bar soap in the vanities that we did not use.

  • Spacious house with lots of room For multiple families- good value for large groups. Furnishing are outdated but plentiful. Multiple places to hang out without being on top of each other. Good proximity to nearly anywhere you want to go. Be sure to bring supplies if you plan to grill- charcoal grill is available. Kitchen is stocked with basics but sparse with regard to utensils, silverware.

    Elizabeth2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • You will definitely love staying at this home. It's very cozy. The place was as described. Mela was a great host and we are very thankful we got the chance to rent her space. You will not be disappointed. We plan on staying here again once we come back to Tahoe.

  • This was a nice house for my family to spend the weekend in. Had a game room for the kids and the adults had their share of course. Snow had kept us in for a day but other than that I would rent out this house again.

Wonderful Bavarian style home walking distance to chairlift at Homewood Ski Resort! This adorable remodel has a downstairs living plan, a private hot tub on the huge back deck, heated bathroom floors, and sleeping for 7 people. All the bedrooms are upstairs, and they all feature queen size beds. Also upstairs is a workspace, laundry, and a kid's loft play area with sleeping for 1.
The cabin is 300 yards from Homewood Ski Resort, where you can access the Quail Chair and/or shuttle to the North Lodge. The nearest shoreline is approximately 2 blocks away, including Obexer's Marina.
  • What a beautiful house! We had an opportunity at Amy and Paul's over Thanksgiving with my family. Their home was perfect for our party of 6 with 3 very comfortable bedrooms and a cosy loft. It was really nice to have access to such an exceptionally equipped kitchen and the hot tub after a day of hiking. The living room/dining room area was perfect for everyone to gather and enjoy the wood burning fireplace. The home was very easy to find and is located within walking distance of the Homewood ski resort. The hiking trails in the ski resort open up to dazzling views of the lake. Amy and Paul provided a very detailed set of instructions for the house and very simple steps for check-in and check-out. Their communication was great and they quickly responded to any questions we had. The home felt like we were staying at our own vacation house from the moment we stepped through the doors. This was one of our favorite vacation rentals and I hope we get a chance to stay here again.

    Victor2017-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time with my family at Paul's cabin. The hot tub was definitely a hit - we spent a ton of time enjoying ourselves outside in the hot tub surrounded by the trees. The cabin is in a great location, it's right next to the ski resort and there are cute dining options nearby. Other highlights include a well stocked kitchen, bbq, washer/dryer, huge outdoor deck, easy parking and a great sound system. I highly recommend this cabin - it's extremely comfortable, check-in was easy, and Paul is a great host!

  • Debbie's place was great. It has 3 floors , the backyard was beautiful with all the trees. It was very relaxing to be in the jacuzzi and feel surrounded by trees. The place is stocked with almost everything you will need. They have so many books and games and even sleds to use during the snow season. My family had a real good time, would definitely stay here again.

  • Had an AMAZING time at bear haven!! Better than we had expected..the place was perfect for us! Three families with 6 teenagers snowed in for 3 days and everyone was happy! The pool table and ping pong were in constant use downstairs.. The spa on the deck overlooking the snow covered forest was a HUGE hit.. Cabin was well stocked..cozy! Fireplaces worked great for heating the place up. Washer and dryer came in handy for keeping towels clean and dry. Plenty of space for everyone. Quiet time as well as group gathering.. Lots of games. Beautiful surroundings. Would recommend bear haven to all my friends..

Amazing stay.

  • Debbie's place is really a great family cabin! The kitchen is really well stocked as are the linens, games and videos. We really enjoyed our stay there despite heavy rains and stormy weather. The fireplaces can be smokey in the windy weather, make sure you open the fluke all the way. Hiking trails and hot tub were the highlights for us!

  • The listing was just as described, and the location was convenient and easily accessible. Beautiful area!! Comfortably slept what ended up being 8 of us for a wedding, only complaint was there weren't any paper towels or enough toilet paper provided...but easily remedied. House manual was easy to follow and provided all the necessary information.

  • It s a great cabin, super location, really nice to have the Chambers Landing restaurant so close. We were working up there, so we didn't have time to use the pool or beach, but would definitely go back when we could. I did take my bike and jumped on the bike path along 89, which is something I've always wanted to do, very close to the house. Also, a nice quiet neighborhood, and an original one, at that.

  • This was such a lovely cabin. The home has a great layout for gatherings. Each room has a radiator and additional blankets for extra warmth. You can tell that the host put a lot of thought in making sure your stay is comfortable. The cabin is very clean and well taken care of. We definitely would stay here again!

Chamberlands Bear's Den is a beautiful home with a magical front yard with a private hot tub. This house comes with Chamberlands beach, pool and tennis in the summer.
Chamberlands is a true gem to be discovered in Lake Tahoe. Located between Homewood and Tahoma on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, this neighborhood offers wonderful woodsy locations with many properties bordering on streams. Chambers Landing Restaurant is a local’s favorite and located right on the water. During the summer, offering an outdoor bar and grill during the day and open for fine dining in the evenings, Chambers Landing Restaurant has it all! The restaurant is open Memorial Day thru Labor Day. Many homes are walking distance to this area and have access to the sandy beaches. Homes within the Chamberland’s subdivision have access to a private section of the beach and can use shuttle service for transportation from their homes to the beach. The shuttle departs every half hour on the hour beginning at 11am with the last regular run at 4:30pm. The shuttle operates daily from July 2nd – August 22nd.
  • Unfortunately, our stay here was not what we had hoped. We had originally been booked in another place with four bedrooms, but then a couple weeks before our stay, Stacey said she had to move us to another place due to renovations. She did work with us on the price considering the place we were moved to was only three bedrooms and not as nice. Upon our arrival, we had difficulty getting the downstairs heater started, the wifi wasn't working, and we couldn't find a house manual anywhere. We tried to call Stacey but the reception was horrible. She stated she was in a restaurant and would call us back, while we were freezing in the house with two babies. We went back and forth attempting to call and text Stacey with limited response and cell service. We then couldn't get the upstairs master heater to work, the downstairs bathroom shower did not turn on, and the washer was broken. We let Stacey know and asked if she had any ideas and she never replied to these messages. We were disappointed with our experience here. The place is cozy and in a good location, but the lack of communication once we were there, the broken house fixtures, and the lack of a house manual made our stay less than ideal. Hoping that this review will be able to help other's be proactive in communicating with the host about specific things (ie. heat, internet, house manual, washer) and making sure everything is working.

  • Our small group grew to love the Bear Dean over the course of our stay. It is cozy and filled with an amazing array of eclectic decorations. The proximity to the lake and amazing hiking trails makes it the perfect location on the West Shore. Not too close to town, but close enough that you can easily walk to a little deli/market, rent boats, or the state park beaches. I was a little disappointed we could not access the Chamberlands private beaches or beautiful restaurant on the pier, since that was a major reason for choosing Homewood.

    Jacquelynne2016-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • The overall experience was pleasant. It is a "Bear's Den" so be on the look out for lots of Bears in paintings, fixtures and elsewhere. My kids had a contest to count them and all their guesses were different, it was funny. We were there when it was warm and not at all cold at night so with the windows open and a fan it was just right as well as not really being able to hear road traffic at all which was nice.

  • Really charming place with great kitchen, hot tub, and walking distance to Homewood. Great setting in winter. I I can imagine it's a stellar place in summer, too.

    Collin2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time. The place was warm and inviting. A great location, and Stacey was a gracious host and kept us informed of what was going on. Highly recommend . The house had plenty of towels and blankets. When the hot water was not working, Stacey sent the handy man within the hour of getting there. it was clean and inviting.

  • Great place. Very cozy and comfortable for our stay. Very close to the lake and accessible! Great place!

    Ben2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • This charming cabin was everything we expected. The natural wood finishes gave the space an extra cozy feel. I would strongly recommend this place to other and intend on staying again on another trip.

    Ryan2016-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a week - mainly with 4 people and a few days with 5. Very comfortable to just lounge around, make a meal, read a book. Several restaurants and things to do nearby (Jet Ski, boating) and drive time to Tahoe City is about 15 to 20 minutes. The neighborhood is great for taking walks - down to the Lake - about 5-10 mins and also along hiking trails or over to the ski lift area (in the summer). Take advantage of the back yard - it's nice with a propane firepit and a bbq. Hot tub is comfortable and was serviced while we were staying there. Host responded quickly when I texted... but we didn't really have any issues, so there wasn't much to say!

The location of this home is unbelievable - it’s on the western shore of Lake Tahoe, and walking distance to Homewood Mountain Resort. Plus, there’s plenty of room to stretch out! The large living room has a classic rustic Tahoe feel, perfect for relaxing by the fire or evening card games around the dining table. Unwind and entertain in the backyard by the expansive stone barbecue grill, or take in the beauty of the lake from the beach or the private pier. For the benefit of our guests, we maintain an allergen-controlled environment, and as such, smoking and pets of all kinds are strictly prohibited at this home. • 2 min walk to the slopes and à fantastic view of the lake!

  • Excellent Location. The cabin itself and the furnishings are older. The communication was easy and the hosts were very accommodating. The private dock was excellent and we even went on a canoe ride.

  • House was amazing, location right on the water. Would love to come back!

    James2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The location for this house is incredible! It backs into Lake Tahoe. We stayed during the winter so were not able to swim but we did spend time in the backyard making snowmen. The drive way is very difficult to see at night as there are no street lights and no number signage. The house itself has three bedrooms upstairs which were well heated but the downstairs bedroom does not have any heating so hopefully the owners include a heater for that room otherwise expect a chilly night. The master bathroom is tiny, but useable. For the price, this house is a great value. It is three houses away from Homewood Ski resort and a short 10 minute drive from restaurants and shops. The furniture and decor is kitschy cabin and a little older but adequate. Master bedroom has fantastic views of the lake. On check-in, we had an issue with the front pathway being blocked due to all the snow and they sent someone to clear it up within a few hours which was great. Communication was fantastic. Highly recommended for families. Will definitely consider this place for our next Tahoe trip!

    Kingsley2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • We came for a relaxing fun time at Lake Tahoe and this house provided what we needed. I would rate this house two separate ways, the interior and the exterior. The exterior would get 5 stars for being lakefront, with a long dock and a nice deck and hot tub to relax and view the lake. The interior would get 3 stars for being more outdated than expected and there was an abundance of household goods but could be cleaned out to make more comfortable. If you are an early riser than stay in one of the upstairs bedrooms facing the lake since the bedrooms have thin curtains and no blinds and we were awakened by the morning sunrise.

  • Great spot. Clean spacious, walking distance to the lake, close to town, great for families or large groups

    Derek2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for West Lake. Just a block from the water. Very close to Chambers and town. Tahoe Getaways were great about check in and communication in general which made things pretty seamless. The only drawback for us was the very poor wifi and the sunny, grassy knoll in the pictures actually being a fully shaded square of dirt constantly being watered making it more mud than anything. As families who rented the home during 4th of July weekend planning to BBQ and play yard games, it set us back a bit. Most likely not an issue for winters. Kitchen could also be stocked a bit more. The game room downstairs was a great space.

  • We had a great time at the Chamberlands home. We drove to the private beach area and swimming pool a couple of times during our stay. The access to the pool and beach area is great! The home is good for families with kids. Not what I would call upscale but definitely works if you will be leaving to have outdoor fun during the summer. Although we used the deck for outdoor dinners and the grill was a great plus! Overall we had a great time and feel Jim responded to our questions in a timely manner.

    Angelica2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house was great overall. Missing some basic amenities, but the host is planning to resolve those. Great space for two families to be snowed in for 3 days! Super close to Homewood Ski Resort. Clean and comfy.

Great outdoor decks looking out to the lake, with an additional more private one in the back of the home. The home is easy to get to, with lots of directions available to follow. Near swimming areas and good hiking. Quiet, family neighborhood. Would stay here again!

  • Jim was very communicative from the start. We loved the spaciousness of his house and the wonderful views! Great choice for a large family or large group of friends, cozy and very comfortable! Wonderful en suite kitchen and dining area! Comfortable beds, just had to shut the vents in the bedrooms in order for the heating to be even throughout the house. We would love to come back in the future!

Our cabin is the perfect place for a week-long vacation or quick weekend getaway. Located on the peaceful western shore of Lake Tahoe in exclusive Homewood, the cabin features stunning lake views from almost every room, a large stone porch, sunny lawn, extensive beach, a bouy, and a private dock to either tie up to or jump off of. Designed for a crowd, the cabin sleeps 14 and is both cozy and commodious with knotty-pine, hand-painted charm throughout. Our home is the treasured destination of generations who enjoyed swimming, boating, catching crawdads, sailing, hiking, snow and waterskiing—then grew up to see their own kids fall in love with it all over again. Available to rent by the night or the week, it's the perfect spot for your family to start their own treasured memories. Take a cup of coffee outside and enjoy the sunrise and dazzling blue water. Watch the kids play on the beach, leap off the dock, or when the snow falls, build forts and snowmen. Have fun with bikes and boats, skis or snowboards. Enjoy eating on the front porch when weather permits—and come evening, curl up next to a crackling fire or wander back outside to remember just how many stars there actually are. The cabin was built for a crowd and sleeps 14. Two or more families comfortably fit in six bedrooms: upstairs, in five bedrooms with two queen beds and seven twins; downstairs, in the one king bedroom. More sleepers can squeeze in on the floor of the dorm and on the cushioned bench in the living room. Bed linens, blankets and towels are provided. Two bathrooms with showers are upstairs (not shown) while a third downstairs has a deep tub (and shower) for a long soak.  The kitchen is fully equipped and ready to feed a hoard. Meals can be passed through to the dining room (left) or, through the kitchen window to the front porch. The laundry room's extra fridge offers plenty of room for leftovers.
  • This house has spoiled us as far as trips to Tahoe go! It could not have been a more perfect location to celebrate Labor Day and our birthdays with friends. The house could not have been in a more beautiful location. Having the big yard to play games, the private dock for swimming, and the private beach with fire pit made this house more than we ever could have hoped for! The house itself is PERFECT too. The most well stocked kitchen I have ever encountered; you will have everything you need to cook any and all meals; plentiful amounts of bed linen, bath towels, and beach towels; great options for sleeping arrangements, especially for larger groups. A nice big living room and fire place. The back patio has TWO grills, and a huge picnic table to fit a large group; lounge chairs to lay out in the sun overlooking the lake; a bags set in the back yard, as well as a closet full of water and outdoor activities to use. I could go on and on about what a gem this place is. We have already said we would love to book this house in advance every year from now on, it was such a dream! Dealing with Elizabeth from Avant Stay, as well as Brynn, from the family, was great. They are both extremely helpful and sweet, and made arrangements a breeze! Thank you for letting us stay in your gorgeous home! We still cannot believe how perfect it was!

  • Missy and Sandy are great hosts! Their house is great and within walking distance to Homewood. We might make this is yearly stay to celebrate our anniversary.

  • Thanks to the AirBnB reviews, I was able to snag this deal at Missy and Sandy's place for a summer weekend. They were both available to greet us when we got there, and made sure we had breakfast to start our days. The amenities, jacuzzi, the kayaks, paddle boards, the deck, and gym day with Missy were all that we needed for the perfect couple's retreat. We wish we had more time here to enjoy all of it. They checked on us when we got back from our activities of the day, and our neighbors in the other room were out all day so it felt like we had the entire loft to ourselves! They left nuts, fruit, cookies, muffins, wine, and snacks for the go. It is rare to stay away from home and still feel like the people living there actually care about you. It made us feel special and at home right away. I mean, who can resist those cookies! I would definitely recommend this to my friends because I know they will be well taken care of.

Sunshine & light pour into the spacious 2nd floor Great room. A stone hearth, gas fireplace, & comfortable furnishings provide a cozy place to gather for couples or a family. A large sunny south deck provides privacy & panoramic views of Tahoe's forest. When it's snowing, high windows on both sides of the Great room make you feel like you're in a snow globe- very cool! Very comfortable and well-equipped. Wonderful neighborhood for walking and talking. Homewood ski resort is just minutes away.
The open floor plan makes an enjoyable place to gather with family and friends. The home is very clean and is a nice combination of the older Tahoe cabin feel with just enough modern to be comfortable. Central heating and the stone hearth with a gas fireplace will keep you warm, while protecting the air quality in the Tahoe basin. The 4 bedrooms are located on the home's lower level, offering a quiet retreat from the communal gathering area above. The bedrooms look out onto the wooded forest to the south of the house; the master bedroom features a private balcony. Fully equipped kitchen. Chambers Landing seasonal amenities: free shuttle service to private beach, private pool, & tennis courts.
The neighborhood is quiet, safe, and friendly. Close to all that the West Shore has to offer: 5 minutes to Homewood Ski Resort, a short drive to Sugar Pine Point State Park with miles of groomed cross-Country ski trails. Approx 20 mins to Alpine Meadows/Squaw Valley Ski Resorts. For summer: Hiking and biking trails are right out the front door, minutes to the bike path along the lake, a short walk (or free shuttle in summer) to the historic Chambers Landing beach and Bar and Grill on the pier, a short drive to Sugar Pine Point State Park and Emerald Bay, and much much more! In Tahoma, minutes away, there's a local market with a much-loved deli. Tahoma also boasts the best pizza place on the West Shore.
  • Quite, clean, and well appointed, this is a great place to stay. This is a wonderful cabin and well located to both Tahoe City and the Homewood Ski Resort. For the more adventurous skiers, it about a 10-30 minute drive to the Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley ski areas, depending on traffic. The home is well appointed and everything worked as it should. As a “reverse floor plan” the living area is on the second floors, with the first floor containing the bedrooms. This provides a wonderful view of the surrounding tree scape and extra privacy. Our little group (one couple with one child and another couple with three children) found the cabin comfortable and spacious. At no time did we feel crowded or that we were bumping into each other. I will note that the master bedroom is located directly below the kitchen, and you can here midnight trips to the ice box, although this did not bother us. The kitchen was adequately stocked with dishes, utensils, cookware and standard appliances (stove, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, and blender.) Unless you are cooking something with requires a special apparatus, like raclette or fondue, the provided items should fit your needs. For entertainment, there is a flat panel TV in the upstairs living room which also has a DVD/VCR combo. The host has some moves in both formats. The downstairs room off the garage has a small tube T.V. and an elliptical. The bedrooms do not have TVs in them. Internet service (wifi) was also provided and we had no problem with it. (Although, we did not use either the TV or wifi much, as we were playing games and listening to music when not skiing.) Communication with the host was quick, efficient and clear. Clean, quite and well appointed, this is a great place to stay. Will certainly watch for it on our next trip.

  • Chambers Landing is such a nice area. This is a great family style home that easily accomodated eight of us. The bedrooms are located on the bottom floor which allows for privacy. We had an infant and toddler with us. I could not hear them as the insulation is very adequate. The master is below the kitchen, so sometimes footsteps echoed. The great room is large with beautiful windows and nice view of the trees. The house also includes a very nice deck with a barbeque. The kitchen was more than adequate. Everything was available for us, just like home! A bonus for us was the membership at Chambers Landing, a club right at the foot of the (URL HIDDEN) included a private beach, a pool, a restuarant, and a fun cocktail area. With children, it was perfect! The kids loved running along the beach, and the pool was so nice. Lifeguards were present. The views were phenomenal, as was the service. We had a very, very nice time!

  • The home was exactly as described and communication was easy.

  • Warm and very comfortable home in forest. Central to all you want in Tahoe. Everything you need and more. And great and welcoming owners to work with.

    Dale2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place with an amazing view. The hosts were helpful and very kind. I loved my stay there and I will definitely recommend the place to my friends.

    Maissa2017-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place for a family or group getaway. We mostly enjoyed the cosy fireplace and super-comfy lounges. The kitchen is of good size with fridge and oven, and perfectly equipped with tools for everything you need to cook up a storm for all guests. The balcony provides a nice view into the forest area behind and at night a great outlook to the stars. The bedrooms are of decent size and with our two little ones (2y & 4y) we felt the place was safe as well (although there is a stair case, however that probably could be secured with portable baby gate). Lill has been a very responsive and super-friendly host and made the checkin and checkout procedure very easy. For any other requests Lill is equally on top of things and will rapidly support. The house was very clean and tidy. It felt very private and the neighborhood was safe and people very friendly. We'll happily come back and definitely recommend this place.

  • Beautiful and comfortable space to stay with the kids.

    Matt2017-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • From the 1st contact until the check out, it has been very easy to connect with Lill. She has been always available and helpful, providing me with all kind of information. The house was incredible, even better than on the photos! super clean, with a huge living room, wide open to the natural environment. It is easy to access and at the same time so private. Lill had added a Xmas touch in the house which was super nice, cosy, warm and welcoming. The house is about 40 min from the ski resorts of Squaw valley and Heavenly. Very easy and simple to commute. It is highly recommended to access with 4WD or at least chains in winter. I would definitely come back any time in winter or in summer.

Very quiet neighborhood because there is no through traffic - the house is at the top of the hill.
  • Fantastic! Such a quiet amazing house. Had a previous booking and they cancelled on me at the last minute and this place came through perfectly. It was so nice and peaceful! Amazing kitchen and television. Love the whole decor and all the fun furniture. Host was extremely responsive and answered all my questions promptly. Detailed welcome binder and everything was in top shape. Hand written note with the keys was a wonderful touch. Now back to work and all I'm thinking about is sitting out on that amazing deck.

    Aaron2015-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • The house is fantastic! Comfortable beds, great big common area, and a very well stocked kitchen. Probably the most well equipped Airbnb we've ever stayed in. Harry was very helpful and communicative with all my questions. The perfect Tahoe cabin.

    Margaret2015-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great place with an open living area, comfortable seating, and a great deck. Really enjoyed our stay.

    Rob2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Harry's home is well equipped and stocked for a wonderful winter weekend. We had a lovely time and look forward to being able to come back

    Stephanie2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Harry's house was as described. Perfect house for families with children. Roomy downstairs. The location is awesome. Skiing and boating are very close by. Tahoma has West Shore pizza and a market. Homewood has West Shore Cafe which is some of the best food we have had on the lake. Sunnyside has also stepped up their game and was very good. West Lake doesn't have all the tourists and traffic that other parts of the lake have. There's great hiking and you can walk to the top of Chukar Circle and find an incredible dirt trail for hiking or mountain biking. Harry's house has everything you need for your stay. Harry is incredibly responsive. If you have a question you will hear back from him immediately.

    Jess2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our weekend here! Harry was very communicative and made sure that we had everything we needed prior to our stay. He was also very available for any questions we had. The house itself is beautiful and very clean and well stocked. The neighborhood is great and perfect for walks. It's definitely walking distance down to the lake if you are up for a longer one. The kitchen is large and great for cooking/eating as a group. We can't wait to come back in summer to enjoy the very large deck out back. Thanks so much for your hospitality Harry!

  • Trixie and Stacy have an incredible cabin in Lake Tahoe!! It was very spacious (we had a party of 15 and slept comfortably) and the cabin was extremely accommodating (plenty of towels, cooking appliances, games, hot tub, etc). The view is BREATHTAKING and it could not have been easier staying at this cabin. It's about 2 minutes from the Homewood slopes, and only 20 minutes from Skwa. Overall amazing cabin, definitely worth the journey and I bet this cabin is equally awesome in the summer!

    Jorgen2016-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great location right in front of lake! Great house though it is a little on the older side. However, still a great place with everything in perfect working condition. Had a great time though, would book again!

    Dewal2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Stacy & Trixie's Lakefront Tahoe cabin. The home was beautiful with plenty of space and activities including pool, ping-pong, spa, and sauna. This is the perfect place for a large group or family get together. Stacy & Trixie were excellent hosts and provided us with everything that we needed. We definitely recommend their place and Stacy and Trixie as hosts. We had a great time.

  • OVERALL: Fantastic weekend vacation for the whole family! Annually, my husband's family (15 of us) take a vacation to Lake Tahoe. The problem always lies in accommodations. Because we are a large group we need a home that is spacious enough for us with rooms that can ensure that we can gather and bond with each other. THIS PROPERTY HAD IT ALL! The pictures don't lie, the views were breathtaking and the amenities were a wonderful bonus. The location of the cabin was just right, a short drive (approx. 10 mins) to shops and restaurants and close to snow activities (Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley). RIGHT ACROSS from the sparkling blue lake. The kitchen comes fully stocked with the necessary tools to make you really feel at home. Trixie responded quickly to all of my messages - seriously, it was like texting a best friend (but on a totally professional level). She ensured that our stay was perfect and to our satisfaction. We'll have to come back during the summer so we can enjoy the lake more :)

    Shemida2016-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Trixie & Stacy were great hosts! We had a big girls weekend and the place was big enough to sleep everyone and the view is unbeatable! It's right across the street from the lake so it was an easy walk to get shoreside.

    Aya2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house is really nice, amazing views of the lake from the living and bedrooms. Very spacious, fun game area, nice bathrooms--the sauna was great after a day of skiing! Would definitely recommend it. Only a ~3 minute drive to Homewood ski resort, which is a good smallish mountain for first time skiers.

    Britt Glaunsinger2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful time at their lakefront home. We could have spent all day starting out at the lake-- gorgeous sunrises / sunsets. It's a great setting for a larger group. We spent most days going to Meeks Bay, but you could just as easily have relaxed at the private beach. The amenities are great-- two grilles, sauna, pool table, ping pong table. We would go back in a heartbeat.

  • My stay here was exactly what I signed up for any nothing less. The place was spotless, the bathrooms were fully stocked, and the management company was sharp to 1) take my call when i needed it and 2) stay diligent to fix some problems. When we got to the property, we accidentally turned off the heater. the management company helped us right away as well as fine tune the WiFi router. The cabin was cozy and my friends and I had a blast. Would recommend.

The unit is as described and very comfortable. You can see glimpse of the lake through the trees and an easy walk to the lake and a small beach. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Mike and Shelley replied quickly, and their cabin is very comfortable and spacious. I would visit again.

    Joe2016-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • My sister and young son stayed at Mike and Shelley's studio condo for 4 days in early March. I cannot recommend it highly enough for people looking for a quiet, well-appointed studio in an upscale neighborhood in Homewood (West Shore.) It was clean, was surrounded by trees and about a block from the lake. Shelley was very helpful and we felt right at home. The "master" bed is partitioned off by a thin wood wall without a door (not a problem for us) and there was a bed for my sister just off the living room area (which is 3 soft couches around the media center (TV, VCR and DVD players.) • Mike and Shelley's place is well-appointed and in a great location. We had a lovely stay. Shelley was also most helpful to mail something we left behind to us. Recommended for those looking for a small and comfortable rental on the quieter end of West Tahoe.

  • I appreciated they were swift responders to my emailed questions in the weeks prior and the day prior to my arrival. I like to travel solo often times and this was a great place to do it. I absolutely loved my stay at Mike and Shelley's perfect place. Their attention to the comfort and esthetic details that matter to me were a delight to discover! Lots of light, both natural from the many windows throughout, where you could see the pine and fir boughs, as well as thoughtfully placed recessed lighting throughout, most of them on dimmer switches. I love dimmers! Another nice aspect is that there are plenty of trees around shading it and keeping it from being over heated as it is an all second story treehouse type of experience. I can tell one, or both or them perhaps, is a good cook, as their cookware was excellent; Farberware copper bottomed stainless steel, in varying sizes. Three difference sizes of cheese graters. Good set of knives, and two different styles of Dansk dish ware. Pyrex wear with lids to marinate with. Big blue ceramic bowl for salads. Lots of ice and even ice cooler units to use in the freezer. The bed was super comfortable and had 100% cotton sheets on it which is my preference. Great reading lights on each side of the bed. They really thought of everything to make it both comfortable and a pleasure for the eye and senses. I love the location and proximity to the cycling, swimming and hiking the West side offers. I will definitely return!

  • Mike and Shelley's cabin couldn't have been more perfect for my husband and me! The cabin is in a quiet, wooded neighborhood, complete with upper deck, partial lake view, and only 2 blocks from the lake. It is clean, bright and very well equipped with full kitchen, games, lounge chairs, and beach umbrella. We absolutely loved it and realized after exploring Lake Tahoe (our first time here) that we couldn't have found a better vacation home. We would definitely stay here again and again! Thank you Mike and Shelley!

  • Wonderfully clean, comfortable and well supplied accommodation. Exactly as described in the posting. Neighborhood absolutely quiet, despite being within 1 block of the lake and Hwy 89. Very convenient location close to Tahoe City and shops in Tahoma. We spent 4 most enjoyable days hiking in the Desolation Wilderness and biking along the lake. We had a question during our stay and the hosts were immediately responsive and helpful.

  • The instructions that Lisa left us were very detailed and informative. The house is great, fully furnished with all the kitchen tools you need to cook a nice group dinner. There was even a Wii! It is in a lovely location not far from the lake. We spent such a nice weekend over there ! I will definitely rent this place again.

    Olivier2016-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The host made us feel welcome and was responsive to our questions. I really appreciated the flexible check-out time. This allowed us to come back to the cabin to pack and shower after a day of skiing before the long drive back. The listing description was accurate and the arrival instructions were clear and comprehensive. We loved the beautiful and well-stocked common areas where we could spend time together cooking, eating and playing games.

  • Lisa, the cabin was lovely! We were very impressed with the quality of bedding, towels, etc. and everyone loved your funky couch. My husband now wants Hotel Collection towels at home. The boys had a blast with the Wii game consoles and puzzles. We did not go out for most meals; it was easy to cook in the spacious kitchen. Our group had a marvelous stay and we would definitely rent from you again! kathy

  • The cutest A-frame out there. I love Lisa's style and the cabin had everything I needed for a weekend getaway. Lisa was very responsive when I wanted to make a change to my reservation. Great location in a quiet neighborhood walking distance to the lake. And the place is super clean. Would love to stay here again.

    Jean2016-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa was very nice and easy to communicate with via email. Her A-frame cabin is so very charming and feels exactly like you would expect when staying in Tahoe surrounded by snow. The place was clean upon arrival and her detailed instructions were spot on. The location is only five minutes from Homewood Ski Resort and it was super easy getting the kids to and from ski school. Thank you Lisa, we all had a wonderful stay.

  • Great for our family vacation!

    Paul2016-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Overall a great house for our group of 8 adults. The "loft" room is a bit treacherous to climb up to, but nice once you get up there. Hot tub was great and had a cool shoveling job that made it feel like you were in an igloo when you were in the hot tub. Heater and fireplace worked great. It's a bit of trek to quickly get to Northstar or Squaw, but ideal for Homewood. Lisa and Ed were super easy to communicate with and were readily available whenever we needed. Thanks for a great stay!

  • Host was very responsive and the house was very comfortable and clean. However, there were some issues that need to be addressed before we would stay here again. -Two windows were broken and boarded up that were not mentioned. -Cable TV and Internet were not working -Hot Tub would not stay on, we were unable to use it If the above items were fixed I would stay here again and give it a five star review.

  • The Cabin has a great warm and rustic feel, it's one of those places that you like right away. It was really excellent for the wind down after snowboarding. We cooked big meals and enjoyed the large family table. Getting to Heavenly could not be easier. The hot tub was large and helped after all the falls on the slopes. We also got great use out of the ping pong table. We will be back!

    Matthew2015-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Would highly recommend Herb's log cabin to anyone looking to spend the weekend in North Tahoe. The house was exactly as described and the kitchen was perfect for cooking a large dinner after a long day on the mountain. I'll definitely be planning a trip back soon.

    Christopher2016-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • The house was great! Just as advertised. The house was quite cold the whole time we were there though -- not a huge deal just something to note. Also, no light in the garage and very dim light on the back porch. Otherwise it was just wonderful.

    David2015-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place worked out very well for our small family reunion with people coming in from Colorado, Hawaii and California. It is a little out of the way but still only about five minutes to Tahoe City so it is not inconvient. The best part is the quick walk to eagle rock about a block away and a short 10 minute hike to the top. One of the best views of the lake anywhere. We all went up for sunrise one day. Very cool.

    Barry2012-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Herb's lovely cabin in Tahoe. The house is right on the main road so there is no risk of getting snowed in. Squaw and Alpine are a short drive away. And, the hot tub out back is a great way to unwind after a day on the slopes.

    Brandon2013-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This house had everything we needed- we were here for 4 nights and had a blast. There's surround sound in the living room, the hot tub is amazing, and the kitchen was great. Overall awesome experience, definitely recommend.

Nestled on the shores of Lake Tahoe, our 5BR, 2BA cabin plus 2BR, 2BA guest cabin offer the perfect getaway for up to 14 adventurous spirits. Homewood Ski Resort is a short walk away, and a large lakefront yard grants you room to wander right at home.
There are few locations on the lake with better views and more history than this gorgeous 2 acre lakefront parcel. The original residence, built in 1934, was among the first homes built on the west shore, complete with pine walls, wrought iron door handles and hand carved stairs. The house is 6 miles south of Tahoe City and a half mile from Homewood Mountain Ski Resort. Our main house sleeps 10 and the guest house sleeps 4. Between the house and the rocky beach is an ample lawn for volleyball, croquet and other family activities. There is a buoy for renter’s use and a pier, shared with the neighbors, which can be used to load and unload guests and gear from your boat. INSIDE THE HOUSE Follow the path from the driveway to the main house where you’ll enter into a rustic kitchen with pine cabinets, dishwasher, stove/oven and microwave. The hallway off the kitchen leads to a full bath with shower/tub combo and two bedrooms, each with two twin beds and a view of the lake. The hall ends in a great room with a dining table for 10 and a living room with large sofas, a flat-screen TV, gas stone fireplace, and a cozy table near the window. Doors open to the back deck, where there’s a dining table for 8. Upstairs you’ll find a washer and dryer, shared full bath with standing shower, and three more bedrooms: one with two twins and two with king size beds, all with lake views. The small house, remodeled in 1985, is a quaint 2 story cabin that has a small, but fully equipped kitchen, full bathroom with stand up shower, a great room with a dining table for 8, sofas, a flat screen TV and a gas stone fireplace on the first level. There is a washer and dryer in the back room and an ample outdoor deck downstairs as well. You’ll find two bedrooms upstairs: one with a Cal king log frame bed and one with two twins. Both bedrooms are joined by a “jack and Jill” full bath featuring an old fashioned claw foot tub. This house is very light and bright…bring your eye mask if you are not an early riser. OUR LOCATION Our home gives you a glimpse of life along the shore of Tahoe before it became a top tourist attraction. Here’s an example of a perfect Homewood summer day: • Walk 15 minutes down the bike trail to Obexer’s Market for a latte and a breakfast pastry. They’ll also make you a made-to-order deli sandwich for your picnic lunch. • Hike up Eagle Rock for a stunning view of the lake. • Devour a plate of tacos and sip on a Chamber’s Punch at Chamber’s Landing Bar and Grill. (Can be reached by boat or car.) • Beat the summer traffic by taking a 30 minute ride on the newly remodeled bike trail to Tahoe City. Enjoy one of the many restaurants, shop or rent a raft to float down the Truckee River. • Wind down your day by strolling 5 minutes down the road to enjoy a fine dining experience at Swiss Lakewood Restaurant and Bar. Start with the escargot and end with a Grand Marnier Souffle! In winter you’ll enjoy the 2 minute drive to Homewood Mountain Ski Resort or a 5 minute drive to Blackwood Canyon Sno-Park where you can go cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and dog sledding in the peaceful back country. The whole family can spend hours building snow men, forts and sled runs in the front yard. THE TURNKEY ADVANTAGE Our property is TurnKey Rental Certified.
