Retreat to the deck of this sustainable getaway and gaze at the twinkling constellations under a cosy tartan blanket. AirShip 2 is an iconic, insulated aluminum pod designed by Roderick James with views of the Sound of Mull from dragonfly windows. Airship002 is comfortable, quirky and cool. It does not pretend to be a five star hotel. The reviews tell the story.
The kitchen has a toaster, electric kettle, tefal halogen hob, combination oven/microwave. All pots and pans, plates, glasses ,cutlery provided. All you will need to bring is your food. worth stocking up on your way in as Lochaline is the nearest place to shop which is 8 miles away.
The AirShip is situated in a beautiful, secluded position on a four-acre site. Stunning views reach across the Sound of Mull towards Tobermory on the Isle of Mull and out to sea toward Ardnamurchan Point.
  • the airship is a beautiful place to stay.. we had the best time just doing nothing and enjoy the surroundings and the comfort.. nice fluffy towels.. comfy chairs.. good books.. wonderful bed with the best view ever.. fireplace.. what more do you need..

  • It was such a good experience staying here, such a peaceful place we both absolutely loved it! Would recommend it to anyone

    Lucy2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a unique place to stay in a beautiful wild location. I feel rested and recharged after a peaceful two night stay. Even the weather didn’t spoil our trip as the airship is even more cosy in the wind and rain - there’s nothing like an afternoon in front of a wood burning stove with a glass of wine or two, some good music on the radio, good company and a sleeping dog curled up at your feet. Excellent - definitely recommend.

Right next to the shore - along which you can walk to the local Inn. Simple, spacious and basic. This bothy is our former home decluttered. One large, light open-plan room. Small range & wood-burner provides heating and hot water. Composting toilet.
This is an old stone building with a more recent stone end built by my brother Donald Icky Maclachlan - stonemason. It is very basic but it does have double glazing. The track down into the bay at Camuslusta is very steep. Although some people can find this a bit daunting, the track has a fairly good surface and all the residents of Camuslusta drive normal cars up and down it daily. The front door of the bothy practically opens onto the beach. Although the track to our house runs between the bothy and the shore. You can watch the gannets, gulls, herons, oyster-catchers, seals and occasionally an otter from the front door or through the windows. With views over to the uninhabited headland opposite, out to the little islands at the head of the bay, or of the shipping crossing the Minch between us and the Outer Isles. The bothy has one large, light and spacious, open-plan living, kitchen, sleeping room. The bothy offers flexible sleeping arrangements - there is a double bed and also a 1930's sofa bed which is probably not that comfortable. Depending on what is required - I can also make up another single bed or another double. Get in touch if you would like to have the sofabed and the two double beds - this is possible. The kitchen is very basic. One step up from camping - it's inside, and there's a sink and a fridge. It has a small wood-burning range which heats the water and also two-ring gas stove for quick cooking. The bothy has basics like an electric kettle, electric toaster, pans, plates glasses and cutlery. We provide basics like milk, oatmeal for porridge (and a recipe), tea, coffee, olive oil for cooking, salt, pepper. At the moment - guests can use the bathroom in our house for a shower. We have towels - not necessarily the fluffiest ever, but fine. As guests you will have the option of using a simple composting toilet outside (until the new grander composting toilet is built) or the toilet in the house. Our house is a short distance along the track and the bathroom is in the extension by the front door. There is a telly but it only plays videos. There are a few videos in the cupboard - a small but varied collection. Do not expect this bothy to be immaculate - it is a more than a little worn around the edges - but it is a beautiful space in an amazing spot.
The view changes with the weather - very atmospheric moody windy wild wet days and then you wake up to the clear beauty of a sunny day - looking across the still loch to the unpopulated peninsula opposite. Just step outside and you can wander along the shore towards the village, to the pub (the Stein Inn) or the small craft shop. You can book a boat trip out from the jetty at Stein. Stein is roughly a twenty minute walk. Or you can walk the other way to find some peace and quiet. The Stein Inn serves food and there is also a small seafood restaurant (for which you probably need to book) - if walking to Stein, you can also walk around the road, which takes a bit longer. Or you can drive.
  • Brigid's bothy is simple, clean, well equipped and really lovely. More than that, the location - it's simply heaven, really unbelievable! An unmissable experience.

  • Brilliant hosts and beautiful location. A dream trip for both of us

    Ruairi2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Brigid place is a little touch of Heaven. It’s locked away in a quiet wee corner of Skye and if you want absolute peace and quiet, Go There! Brigid is a fantastic host who explains everything then leaves you to get on with your stay, but if you need anything, she’ll definitely help you without hesitation. A true gem of a find.

    David2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant Bothy that’ll give you that calm Skye experience without going full on camping! Would definitely recommend and Brigid is super helpful !

    Nick2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect wee spot right by the ocean for a quiet and very affordable break away, close to Portree for all the main shops and supplies if needed too. Great host that was a lot of help and also very generous with help and advice, well worth listening too. Would have already booked another trip if it wasn’t so far booked up lol, honestly didn’t want to leave. Great place

    David2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Hello, not amazing views. Very nice atmosphere. Brigid very helpful. I would definitely recommend.

    Ewa2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the Bothy. The location was perfect, cozy, relaxing and just what we needed. Thanks to Bridgid for being such a Great host. Would definitely recommend and stay at this location again.

    Roxanne2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • The wee bothy has what you need. We were only there 2 nights, which was a pity, could happily stayed for longer. The views are simply amazing! Brigid was great, maintained contact throughout and advised beforehand that there was a slight issue with the track, but it wasn’t an issue for us. We will return to Skye for sure and would happily stay here again :)

Detached studio with majestic, cliff top views over Lochbay and Waternish to the village of Stein & across the sea to the Outer Hebrides. We have the most amazing sunsets! Open plan, cosy, yet light and airy; a peaceful haven in which to relax. We've tried to create self catering, that is a tad out of the ordinary, with funky textiles & quirky local touches. Modern facilities, huge drench shower, dishwasher, log burner, free wi-fi. Huge Overwater House, next door, for a couple, also available.
The larch clad studio was designed by us to make the most of fabulous views. The living space is dominated by the huge window, right next to this is the comfy couch. The ceiling is high to create a light and airy feel to the compact, open plan studio. The oak floor helps to give the space a feeling of warmth and luxury. Opposite the couch, in the corner, is the log burning stove and on the same wall the tv. The kitchen is well equipped with a vintage oak table at which to eat. Everything in the studio has been made or chosen with love & care. We've consciously tried to avoid the neutral, high street look. The bed is king-sized with Egyptian cotton bedding. Included in the price is free WiFi. There is a small decking area on the sea side for guests to sit out on. The garden is enclosed. There is a privacy fence to shield the studio from the house next door. Logs are also provided for the stove and all electricity is included. The bathroom has a huge, walk in, drench shower. We’re not fans of fabric conditioners or tumble dryers so although the towels are Egyptian Cotton, they’re not the softest.
Waternish, in the north of the island, is one of the most beautiful parts of the Isle of Skye. It has magnificent views across the Minch to the Outer Hebrides. Blue Moon studio has undoubtedly one of the finest views on Waternish. Sit by the huge window & enjoy the constantly changing light on the water. There are wonderful boat trips from the local jetty. We're close to Stein with the oldest pub on Skye & Michael Smith's, 'Lochbay Restaurant'. Skye is 'foodie' heaven!
  • David & Jayne's place was in a fantastic location with stunning views of the surrounding bay. The Blue Moon Studio was stylish and comfortable, and we really appreciated the local touches. David & Jayne were friendly and very helpful providing suggestions of nearby restaurants and places to visit. The shortbread in the studio was delicious, and we were made to feel right at home. We'd love to come back as soon as we can, Skye is must visit and I couldn't recommend The Blue Moon Studio more highly!

    Chris2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect - the studio is fantastic, much bigger than it looks in the images. Amazing views, fabulous location. Very clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend.

  • I had an amazing time at the Blue Moon Studio, and on Skye. A great escape from life back home. The location on Loch Bay was perfect for me...to walk to Stein, to drive to the Talisker distillery, Neist Point, and The Three Chimneys for dinner Sunday night. I could spend hours looking out the window at that stunning view! And I'd strongly recommend being at the studio for at least one sunset! The little welcoming touches provided were really appreciated...the wood for the stove, the shortbread, the coffee and a bottle of wine. Additionally, Jayne was advising on possible travel issues (because I was staying in February when the weather was a bit iffy). And offering tips on where to go for a lively Skye experience. I'd definitely stay again!

    Liam2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Blue Moon Studio was a perfect getaway with a spectacular view. David and Jayne were excellent with their communication and check in was very straightforward. The studio is a lovely space and is in a great location to explore lots of different parts of Skye. The wood burning stove and view were particular highlights but the whole place was lovely and sparkling clean. Couldn’t recommend it more highly and will definitely be back for future visits!

    Jo2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Blue Moon Studio was the perfect space for us to relax for a long weekend up on Skye. The view from the living room will be extremely difficult to leave. David & Jayne’s local knowledge helped us massively as it was our first time visiting Skye.

  • Beautiful place - amazing location, house lovely and had everything you need with a fully equipped kitchen. Lovely wood burning stove. Beautifully decorated lots of good information and gave us good advice on local running routes! Hope to visit again in the summer!

Your own piece of tranquility in our Little Skye Bothy, with outstanding views to the loch and the mountains. The pod has kitchen facilities, 2 ring hob and microwave (no oven). Tea, coffee and sugar are provided. There is a shower room, an ottoman double bed and a sofa bed for an extra guest. There is an oil filled heater, table and chairs, TV for watching DVD's (there is no signal for local or national channels) and wifi is available
This pod is situated to make the most of the beautiful views and for privacy. You can lie in bed while enjoying the view or sit on the decking enjoying the scenery and wildlife
Heaste is a little hidden gem situated on the shores of Loch Eishort, 5 miles along a single track road from Broadford. There are several working crofts and creel fishing boats working from the loch. Heaste continues many of the older traditions of Skye such as peat cutting. There is a sea eagle nesting in the trees across the loch. There are walks to Boreraig (a highland clearance village). There are stunning views over to the Sleat peninsula and knoydart.
  • My boyfriend and I had a amazing stay here. The pod exceeded expectations and the host was lovely. Set in a quaint village called Heaste, the pod sits on the top of a hill boasting picturesque views over the loch. The location feels like you are miles from civilisation in your own peaceful bubble. This pod is in easy reach of all of Isle of Skye’s tourist spots 40 minutes from the Fairy Pools, 45 minutes The Storr and one hour from the Neist Point Lighthouse. We would definitely recommend this Airbnb for a romantic weekend away nestled in the countryside.

  • Nicky was outstanding and so was her bothy. She was more than accommodating gave us recommendations where to eat every night and even turned the heater on before our arrival. The bothy itself was perfection and the best stay we had our entire trip.

  • Love this place the view was amazing and it was quiet perfect for a couple getaway

    Stephanie2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful bothy with lots of sweet little touches. It felt immediately like home. Incredible views to wake up and have breakfast to. Thanks Nicky!

  • The Skye Bothy was amazing. It had all the amenities you could want, was lovely and warm, even in February with amazing views. Kirsty was wonderful and extremely helpful and accommodating. Thank you so much for a beautiful stay, Bec and Josh x

    India2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The little bothy is a lovely, unique place to stay. It's beautiful and Nicky's hospitality was the best part - she was always reachable via text for any questions (and she was nice enough to welcome us with a bottle of Prosecco and call restaurants both evenings we were there so we knew where we could go and eat - both places were SO yummy as well). Visiting in February was not the best month (we had Storm Dennis raging around us and the weather was mostly terrible), but we were snug in the bothy, even if the heating was a little weird to regulate (even though Nicky clearly showed us how to use it, we kept over/under heating the place - our fault though!). Visiting when it's mostly good weather would definitely be divine - the long-ish drive from the main road in Broadford to the bothy was a little scary at times when there was heavy fog, but all OK if you drive slowly and carefully. It's amazing how thoughtfully Nicky has laid out the place - it's tiny, but has so many amenities and even some little games (which we took advantage of) and a kitchen. Highly recommended.

  • Fantastic little spot on the isle of skye. Everything about the cabin is perfect!Lovely, warm and with fantastic views!

  • A perfect little getaway for yourself and another! Gorgeous views and a tasteful little bothy that'll keep you warm from the cold that Scotland can bring. Highly recommend to anyone that wants to see more of what Skye has to offer. Nicky is also a wonderful host.

'The Steading’ is a rustic cabin on a working farm with wood burning stove set near the North Coast 500 route. Ideal for a writing, musical or yoga retreat. Lots of walking and cycling routes or simply relaxing in front of the fire with a cup of tea. Stunning views across the countryside. NO SHOWER / no hot running water. Basic bedding available. No phone signal/WiFi. Enjoy the peace of the Highlands and being wakened only by the noise of the wildlife, sheep and cows. Sleeps 2 or 4-5 if family.
The Steading is on my father in law’s farm. Alex Houston's farm is set in 100 acres of rustic farmland with a lazy river running through it. The Steading is private, next door to alex’s farm house. Guests have exclusive use of the entire building and the front door is lockable with your own key. The scenery and tranquility is breathtaking and there's miles of unspoilt walking and off-road cycling. It is detached and has two floors. Downstairs open plan living area complete with wood burning stove (no central heating - but the fire is better anyway!), kitchen area, table and chairs with a small toilet room and sink. Cold running water. NO running hot water - but there is a kettle for hot water. (Please note there is NO shower or bath in the steading). ** Guests should bring wood and firelighters with you for the fire ** The kitchen area is very basic - kettle, plug in double hob, sink (cold water only), a fridge and a microwave. There are some pots, pans, mugs and cutlery etc there for you to use. There is no running hot water. There is no shower in the Steading. Some guests have used the showers at the leisure centre in Alness (6 miles away), and you could schedule in getting some extra food supplies in the supermarket at the same time. There are two handmade wooden single beds which can be pushed together to form a double. Basic bedding is provided - though it will be very simple and not hotel standard! You will be staying on a working croft that has approximately 100 sheep and 30 cows. Alex lives on and works the farm and he would be happy to show anyone around the farm and help out with running of it if you wished to experience true Highland crofting! Alex is also an artist and oil painter and has taught art at secondary schools all his life. Families - although the Steading sleeps 2 in our description, families with children (sleeping up to 2 adults and 2-3 children) would be very welcome - please just message to enquire. It is ideal for families as a bit of a an adventure out of the normal city life! You can be guaranteed a quiet holiday as their is no TV, no WiFi, no phone signal and the nearest shop is 8 miles (12km) away. You can get mobile signal 4 miles (6km) back towards Alness. As this is a working farm there are definitely NO PETS ALLOWED. Please bring along some home comforts if you wish - a hand towel for the bathroom, sheets for the mattresses. We don't regularly launder the bits and bobs of towels / blankets etc that are there as spares - so bring some of your own for your own comfort! Also please be warned regarding mice, insects etc - this is a farm, and the Steading is a very basic converted building so there may sometimes be animal intruders in the building which we can’t really stop! So any food should be kept in sealed containers. Lastly - we hope the Steading captures your sense of adventure and that you’d like to stay here! Check out our reviews from our guests to see for yourself what our guests think of it. It certainly is a unique place for a getaway!
If you are looking for peace and tranquility on your holiday then the center of the Highlands of Scotland is for you. This is a remote stay with only the noise of the country farm animals and the crackle of the wood burner! You can go for hours before you will see a car. It also makes it the best location for walking and cycling. It is a converted farm outbuilding with a mix of stone and wood. Entrance is a concrete floor. Toilet is a concrete floor with a flushing toilet and a hand sink. (Please note there is no shower or bath). Downstairs has a wooden floor with a worktop and fitted sink with running water, fridge, microwave, small cooker, power sockets and lighting. There is a table and chairs. There is a wood burning stove which will certainly keep you all cosy! Stairs are wooden. Upstairs is a wooden floor and there are two camp beds. There is power sockets. Please take your sleeping bag with you. There is a cycle shed and car parking available. Please leave the property as you found it - unplugging all appliances when you are not in the property. Check in is around 3pm but we can easily give you a location for the house key if you need to arrive before then (you must remember that there is no phone signal so this has to be arranged before you arrive at the property.)
  • Our stay at the steading was exactly what we needed. We were warned about the cold nights and made sure to bring enough layers and slept very well. The accommodation is very simple and exactly what we needed after a busy few months. Thank you Alex and Fiona!

    Stella And Sam2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful little place if you are comfortable with simple living. We brought quite a lot of wood because it was February and got through all of it. Alex is greatly welcoming and the location is great. Good access to stunning parts of the country and nice to get the quiet that comes with no mobile phones and no internet. I’ll be back again for a third visit! Thank you for a lovely stay!

    Mhairi2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place and so nice to meet Alex, a beautiful human!

    Francesco2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a one night stay here on a subzero February night. Alex was so kind and welcoming when we arrived, coming out to meet us in the dark and getting the fire going in no time, which was very much appreciated! The space was actually a bit better equipped than we expected, and although it's very basic we had everything we needed for the night to cook, relax and keep warm. We imagined how dreamy it would be here in spring/summer when it's a wee bit warmer... A lovely peaceful stay.

    Laura2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • What an absolute gem of a place! Basic and rustic but as campers we found it to be more luxury than we were expecting (being used to small tents the space and a kitchen was lovely!) We stayed on a weekend in Feb with some pretty rough weather and lots of snow. Roasted up the log burner and stayed warm enough! The walk to Fyrish monument that was recommended was beautiful and we had a great stay! 100% would go again and hope we can some time in the future!

    Emily2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was absolutely wonderful. Felt very welcome there straight away upon arriving. Enjoyed our time up in Inverness. Hope to stay again in the future. You’re more than cosy and warm in the winter with the log burner going. It’s wasn’t difficult to keep the space warm when we stayed up in February (-2°c). Don’t miss out on the experience. Eliot

    Eliot2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had a great time at The Steading. Alex was a great host, and we found it very easy to find the location with the detailed directions given. The details Fiona provided were very accurate and allowed us to come prepared. We found the lodging very clean and cozy, perfect for our weekend away.

    Claire2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants an escape from city life. We saw more stars at night here than we ever have in our lives. The steading itself is basic but it’s so cosy once you’ve got the fire on. Alex who owns the farm is so lovely and friendly. We’ll be returning!

The Hobbit house with its round door is straight out of Middle Earth! It is close to the sea, the beach and the mountains. It has a spectacular view of Beinn na Cailleach (Hill of the Old Woman). 'The Old Woman' was a Norse princess (Skye once belonged to Norway) .The Hobbit House is NOT suitable for pets, sorry! The first thing you should do is download the map from our photo gallery. Satnav doesn't work here!
The Hobbit house is good for couples and solo adventurers. There is a double bed with egyptian cotton sheets and pocket-sprung mattress. It's heated by a halogen heater and oil-filled radiator, and there is a BBQ outside! For cosy nights in there is a flat screen Internet TV for streaming BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Amazon Prime.
  • The hobbit house is incredibly charming! You will wake up to stunning views through the round window in the doorway, and you have all of Skye available to you. The kitchen is well equipped for basic cooking, and you can keep the house cozy and warm easily. Susan was very responsive and extremely helpful! Highly recommended.

  • Beautiful space and great location, perfect base for exploring Skye

    Alexander2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Having read the glowing reviews for the hobbit house we had very high expectations. Safe to say it more than exceeded them. It had everything we could possibly need, it’s very comfortable and the views are breathtaking (including the night sky). Duncan suggested places to visit and they were all amazing. Thank you both so much.

  • What a gorgeous place! Stunning views. Good location. All round great little find. I would absolutely recommend to anyone!

    Kay2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Hobbit house is a truly unique and wonderful place to stay. A modern construction but with bags of character, isolated yet close to the town of Broadford for avoid range of amenities and serves as a good Hun for travelling to and from Skye and is on a major route to get to the isles hotspots. We were there during a big storm and despite the place getting bashed around in the wind place was, well insolated, warm and cosy, and has everything you need for your stay. The kitchen facilities are basic, as to be expected for this kind of property but we still managed to russle up a steak dinner and cooked breakfast everyday with no issues. Lovely hosts as well and some good tips in the guest book. A truly memorable, first class experience.

    Tom2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great little setup if you want to visit Skye. We arrived along with storm Ciara and it kept us safe, dry and cosy. Facilities are great, all the standard stuff but nice extras like heaters and dehumidifiers so we were able to dry off easily after we got in after a day out. Would definitely revisit next time we head up to Skye

    Ben2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy place that has everything you need. It is located on a hill and the views are amazing. Host was very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

The Blacksmith's bothy is a traditional black house with thick lime washed stone walls. These compliment a modern kitchen and wood burning stove. Set in a peaceful location, the building is over 100 years old. It is surrounded by croft land and spectacular cliff top walks. Situated very close to Spar cave and 5 minutes drive to Elgol. A private, screened deck area and hot tub is adjacent to the bothy with sea views through a wooded glade. Perfect as a romantic retreat.
The Blacksmith's bothy is a renovated traditional old blackhouse bursting with character. You will find a bright clean space containing a brand new kitchen, a dining area, rocking chair, state of the art CD player music system with a wide variety of music, a battery operated DVD player and selection of films as well as a beautiful bespoke day bed so you can be cosy and comfortable in front of the wood burning stove whether having a romantic evening or relaxing during the day. The house is decorated to reflect the owners passions for art. Some of the prints are the owners own work. There is also a display of blacksmith tools from his own workshop. Creative workshops are available by request if booked in advance but the bothy is a completely private space for you to enjoy and relax. The kitchen is equipped for you to fully self cater and contains a microwave, a fridge and two electric hobs. There is also a kettle , toaster and a cafetière for coffee. You will not however find an oven, a grill or a freezer. We want to make you aware of this so you can plan your shopping. There is a small ice box which would fit one or two items only. Adjacent to the bothy you will find a raised deck area with a wood fired hot tub lit with fairy lights and optional insect screening. Also you can enjoy dining out at a table with two chairs and a bbq. A selection of wetsuits are available to borrow should you wish to swim in the sea at the bottom of the croft.
Glasnakille is a spectacular secluded village in South Skye with commanding views over Loch Slapin towards the Sleat Peninsula. There are also views of the small isles of Eigg and Rum nearby. `The mountains of knoydart can be seen in the distance. There are very quiet roads on which it is possible to walk or jog. You can walk the coastal path to Kilmarie which then takes you into Camasunary bay and the heart of the Cuillin . It is possible to have a quiet stroll or a big adventure without even taking the car. However Elgol is a five minute drive away with its famous boat trips to Loch Coruisk. Stunning views of the Cuillin can be seen along with walks to Prince Charlie's cave and amazing honeycomb cliffs near the pier. Glasnakille is home of spar cave, a 50metre long cave which can only be accessed at low tide. It has a fascinating flowstone staircase contained within it. Our nearest supermarket is 15 miles away. The co operative supermarket in Broadford is open till ten pm. This is also where you will find a 24 hour petrol station. However our area is remote and peaceful and there are no shops or restaurants or pubs within walking distance. We believe this just adds to its charm however. Bookings can be made for evening meals at Coruisk house in Elgol but these need to be made well in advance.
  • Incredible space with many a thoughtful touch! There is possible everything you could ever need for a short break away from the rest of society and be within your own little bubble for a few days.

  • The bothy is a beautiful, quaint and cosy space situated in a remote yet accessible location. The surrounding scenery and trails are breathtaking and the wood burning stove and hot tub made this an unforgettable stay. James was quick to respond to any questions and was extremely friendly and inviting. Highly recommended.

  • A fantastic, secluded place to stay in an out of the way place with lovely scenery. Log burner was lovely after being out in the rain all day! James was a great host and very friendly, his directions were easy to follow and we found it with no problem. Go well prepared and stock up with food, nearest shops are 30 mins away in winter months! Would recommend for a restful, away from it all, few days.

A cosy, small, traditional stone cottage on the Isle of Lismore, in one of the most picturesque places of the west coast. It sits right in the bay at the end of the Great Glen and is surrounded by stunning mountain views. Please note: Lismore is an island that can only be reached by either of two ferry services. After your booking we'll send you an extensive welcome pdf with all the information you need about how to get here and how plan your stay.
If you're looking for a place to break away from it all, experience true peacefulness and inhale fresh sea air while green hills and beautiful mountains stretch endlessly before you, the Crofting Cottage on the Isle of Lismore is the place to for you. In our renovated historical stone cottage you get a real sense of what it means to live on an island while still enjoying all the comforts of modern life. Put on your wellies and go for a walk along the seashore, explore the small islands in the bay at low tide and return to a warm turf-roofed cottage and a cosy fire. Go for a cycle to discover the historical sites of the island and stop for some cake and coffee at our local café, get to know the welcoming island community and finish the day with a stew of delicious local lamb and a book from our varied collection, while admiring an unpolluted starry night through the skylights. The Crofting Cottage is a simple, open-plan space accommodation that is lovingly prepared for you, so you can feel right at home. It's got a mezzanine sleeping platform, a modern shower room, and a lovely kitchen corner with a handy cooker and double oven for all cooking enthusiasts. As an original island house it does not boast with space, but with cosiness, and the efficient and undemanding multi-fuel stove quickly heats every corner of it. It's not trying to provide a luxury holiday, but letting you re-connect with the simple pleasures of life, the sound of the seagulls for breakfast, the beauty of pure silence, the passing shadows on the mountains while the clouds are travelling over them, the ever-changing light and colours of a Hebridean landscape. Exchanging hurried subway connections for a leisurely ferry crossing, a mad weekend shopping for a browse through our small local shop, and the fight with software compatibilities for a fight with the wind, which, even if you lose it, somehow is so much more satisfying. It usually takes a day or two to allow yourself a much slower pace of daily life, but beware, once you've adjusted to island time and haven't let the presence of the wi-fi take away from it, you might find you could rather get used to it! The cottage is also perfect for an autumn and winter getaway, being a small space to heat, providing a comfortable reading sofa and lots of warm things for extra cosiness, including a down feather duvet. And though the days are short, the light is really at its most beautiful in the darker days of the year!
Lismore is a stunning island, with lots to see and do if you appreciate a quieter pace of life. We have a Heritage Centre with an island café (around 4 miles away) open 11 - 4 pm every day from April (check out varying winter opening times), and lots of historical buildings and monuments. It's ideal for walking and cycling, and if you would like to see as much as possible in one day and hear a few local stories, why not book an Explore Lismore landrover tour? You'll find everyone on the island very helpful, so if you get lost or have questions, don't hesitate to ask the first person to come your way! Lismore is a busy island and there's always something on, check the noticeboard at the local shop or the community website (www.isleoflismore.com) for upcoming events.
  • Nothing I write will equal the total sense of peace and serenity I experienced at the cottage and on the island (and I'm supposed to be a poet). But allow me to start at the details that I will never forget for as long as I live. Julia is a wonderful human being and a tremendous host. She went above and beyond to make me feel at home (way better than I feel at home). The inhabitants on the island are a special community. Anytime I found myself walking on the path to and from the shop, or to and from the ferry port, the first passing car would stop to ask if I needed a lift. These are details that touched me deeply. The generosity and the warmth of their welcome is such a contrast to life in the cities. The cottage and the island are beyond special - I was able to reorder my thoughts, process a lifetime of experiences (good and not so good), plan for the future, write a bunch of poems that have put my previous work to shame, and written a few songs for good measure. The walks in the wilderness ... man I miss it all so much already! Please, oh scientific community, find a cure for this virus so I can go back and fall in love with the world again!

  • Thanks so much for having us. I’m still sad to not be there. Felt very much at home! A very comfortable 9 days. Great shower too! Will definitely be back.

  • Great, cosy cottage in a stunning peaceful location. Very well appointed house and the perfect base to explore Lismore from! Speedy and helpful communication from the host too.

  • Great little cottage in a beautiful location. The cottage is well set up and the Host is helpful and flexible

    Denise2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Croft is amazing and is in an amazing location! Lismore is the hottest holiday destination of the decade👍

    Caspar2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly lovely cottage. It's ideal for one person or a couple looking for a calm and cosy retreat to enjoy this amazing part of the world. We had very wintery weather so really enjoyed staying in lots! The fire was great and kept us cosy all week. The kitchen is brilliant and had everything we needed for cooking nice dinners. The bed platform is small and slightly tricky, but if you move the bed a little away from the wall you can sleep two people fine, listening to the rain on the roof is very cosy. The bathroom and shower is great, really hot water! There's lots of nice warm welcoming touches like slippers, hot water bottles, blankets etc. Plus a great selection of books and good WiFi. One tip I'd like to give future visitors - the local shops on Lismore and over on Appin (10min ferry from Lismore) are really great and stock everything you might need from all your normal groceries to plant based milks to nice wines, newspapers, etc. We stocked up in Oban before our trip so didn't use the local shops much but it seemed a shame when we realised how well stocked they are - buying from them is a great way to support the local economy while you're on holiday. Thanks Julia!

  • Staying in the Scriptorium is absolutely magical! My mum and I loved it so much and are already planning to make another trip back. The architecture of the abbey is stunning and it had everything we needed to feel at home. Well stocked kitchen and comfy bed too. Easy stroll to the local pubs, chip shop, and grocer.

  • The apartment was beautiful in a fantastic building with great facilities. Andrea's is a great host and was very attentive.

    Dan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We came for a long weekend in January and were not disappointed! The Scriptorium was chic and comfortably furnished. We loved all the original features. The apartment was just a little skip away from the pool in the chapel. The pool was lovely and warm, quiet and super clean. Lovely view from in the pool too. The grounds and surroundings alone were stunning, so we took a Loch Ness cruise while the weather was good to take it all in, which we picked up from just outside the grounds. We had great communication and a really helpful welcome and tour. There was info on the history of the abbey and ideas of what to do locally in the apartment. Would highly recommend a stay at the Scriptorium without hesitation and would love to go again!

The Studio is a contemporary architect designed space. It is cosy and warm whatever the weather. It has very low energy requirements and water consumption, using a Swedish waterless loo. Relax in a secluded private spot. Read by the wood burning stove with a cup of coffee, or walk directly out into the beautiful landscape around Loch Bracadale.
Loch Bracadale is a beautiful sea Loch with beaches and cliff walks. Sea Eagles nest not far along the cliffs. Gannets are often flying and diving for fish in the summer months.
  • The location is exceptional and the space is unique and thoughtful. It has all you need and feels spacious and cozy

    Jordi2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • If you looking for some ‘Hygge’ then the studio is the place, the perfect setting to watch the west coast weather pass by all whilst toasty warm by a wood burner! A great base for exploring Skye, had everything we needed. Nick was quick to respond and provided plenty of useful local recommendations. (The waterless loo got a little getting used to but was surprised by how well it worked.)

    Kiloran2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely modern studio with breathtaking views! Perfect get away from city life. Had everything we needed and the host was very friendly and helpful. Sad we had to leave and couldn't stay forever!

    Henry2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Studio is a compact but perfectly put together modern space. It’s comfortable and practical...it wastes nothing. The windows give the most gorgeous views...on a clear night the moon and stars are beautiful, and during the day the view to the loch is amazing. The decor and design (everything from the blankets to the crockery to the way the bathroom works) really standout, and in the same way that trying to photograph Skye just doesn’t really do it justice, the Studio is so much better than the Airbnb listing shows. Whether you use this place as an amazing base for exploring the island, or snuggle up on the sofa in front of the wood burner this is a lovely warm space that will stay with you long after you’ve visited.

    Liam2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really great time at the studio. The studio itself is really cosy, and the view is stunning. Nicholas was really reactive and gave us good tips about Skye island. Was a really nice stay!

    Zoé2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The studio is beautiful just like the surroundings. The fire makes the studio very cosy. Carbost is a nice village with the distillery, Paul’s Oyster Shed, coffee to go and the Old Inn. Good location to see many high lights of Skye. Don’t miss out on Jann’s Cakes in Dunvegan if you like sweets as much as I do. Nick is very friendly to. A place to recommend!

    Michelle2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Nicholas and Kate’s Studio is a beautiful, comfortable, and cosy place from which to experience the Isle of Skye. It had all the necessary amenities to cater for oneself and plenty of space in which to relax. Even going during what turned out to be a storm, we had an amazing time, cosied up inside, reading and drinking wine. It is also worth noting that the bed is very comfortable. We slept excellently despite the high winds and rain. Nicholas and Kate are fantastic hosts. They are quick to respond to messages and queries, attentive upon arrival, and extremely friendly and helpful. They provided us with all the information we would need to make the most of the Studio and Skye itself, including concise directions on finding the address, as it is situated in a very quiet area.

    Eleanor2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay in the studio. Easy to get to and great communication from Nick. The studio was stylish and cosy. Perfect surroundings, we were able to star gaze at night and explore Skye and it’s spectacular scenery in the day. Perfect location for a couple wanting to have some peaceful time away together. Will definitely go back!

An original Skye Croft House, overlooking Loch Harport & views to the Cuillins. Its just a three minute drive from the village of Carbost with its Old Inn & the Talisker Distillery, furnished with my mix of old with modern & of course the essential log fire
Bright, , not a drop of tartan in sight, a calm house with lots of space for 4, room enough for the children inside and a private garden for them to burn off energy,, for older kids and adults the land all around is open access, just remember its "working" land so you will share it with sheep!
Absolute silence, the constantly changing light on the water and mountains.
  • Beautifully fitted out, a great part of the island to be and an excellent host. Stay here.

  • Wow, what can I say? Grant's cottage was the most beautiful place I've ever stayed in. The cottage was beautifully decorated, views were unreal and there was everything you could need. Communication was brilliant all the way through. If you're lucky enough to visit the Isle of Skye book this stunning cottage, you won't regret it 😊

  • Great location with stunning views. Carbost has a great little coffee shop and a local fish and oyster shop. House is very clean and warm. Loved our stay on Skye.

  • Perfect. A wonderful hideaway in a great location.

    Alexander2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Grant's place on Skye is really lovely - cosy, warm and welcoming. There are amazing views from the living room to the hills opposite, loch and to the Cuillin, and lovely comfy chairs to enjoy it all from. The location is perfect, and there are nice places to visit in Carbost and nearby, and it is also a great base from which to visit the further places in Skye, knowing that you'll return to a warm cottage at the end of the day. Grant provided plenty of logs and kindling, and was very kind and responsive during my stay. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Skye. Thanks Grant!

    Lorna2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really great stay at Grant's place. We were there during Storm Dennis, which included there being a lightning strike which knocked the power out in the whole village for about 5 hours. Grant messaged straight away to check we were ok - we got the wood burner going and had a nice cosy evening by the fire! The house is lovely, really spacious, clean, and very comfortable. Had everything we needed, really good cooking equipment etc. Even though we were there when it was pretty cold outside, it was always lovely and warm when the heating was on or the fire was lit. We'd definitely recommend the cottage, and might look to come back again (maybe when there are fewer weather warnings out..!)

Quiet, peaceful and rural location. Pretty views from every angle. Sauna. Category A listed.
The adventure begins as you enter my front door with a winding stone spiral staircase leading upto The Bridge House. The top of the stairs opens into the conservatory dining room. From here you can access the little bedroom and kitchen/sittingroom. The little bedroom has a small double bed, great views upriver and a quirky privy from olden days! • What to say about this place. Unique, quiet and beautiful. Just the right place for a peaceful get away. Our only regret about the place was we didn’t book to stay longer! Outstanding.

Nestled in the Cairngorms National Park, The Steading (Scottish for converted Barn) was recently converted to a high standard. It provides a spacious, light and cosy cottage base with which to explore the local area. Extremely warm, with fabulous fire in the lounge and sky lights in all the rooms. The cottage provides easy access to mountain biking, Hill walking and climbing. The views of the National Park are stunning and the local countryside is home to many moorland birds and wildlife.
  • Absolutely beautiful location, stunning scenery and easy to get to from the A9 Perfect for a couple to retreat to!

    Matt2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Highly reactive on any request, Vicky and Matt have answered very fast to my needs, notably smaller logs for the fire. Comfort of the cottage is outstanding, insulation at the last standards, warm water, pressure in the shower, clear instructions for everthing and definitely a lovely place to stay. Do not hesitate to stay at Catlodge 'The steading' in the winter like I did. Heating is perfect (after the first evening), fire is warm enough with little support of the electric heaters. Logs and kindley can be found in Laggan and in Newtonmore easily, though quite expensive but I considered it a basic and priority need. Landscape is outstanding (and with snow just fantastic), particularly scenery from the bed through the large door-window at sun rise in the very morning and more surprising, the stars through the Velux in the ceiling. No light pollution in this place of Scotland, thus incredible stars. And silence, silence, silence. Wake up with the sheets and the fazants. Nice walks without having to make a lot of kilometers by car. One of my most extraordinary trips ever, 2-hour trip from Edinburgh airport..

    Patrick2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage in the most incredible setting. We were lucky enough to have snow throughout our stay. The cottage has every amenity you can think of, even some cooking oil, salt and pepper. It really was a lovely cosy stay for a winter getaway

  • I got this stay for my mum and dad to celebrate my mums 50th and she was amazing by it. She has always wanted to spend her 50th someone snowy and beautiful and she got exactly that. They drove all the way from the south west but would do it again! The pictures and videos she sent of their trip here looked amazing! It has made me and my husband want to book now!

A bright and spacious timber roundhouse nestled below a single-track road amongst trees and by the shores of Loch Broom. Am Falachan offers a warm welcome within a private and peaceful self-contained dwelling with sweeping views over Loch Broom to Beinn Dearg and the surrounding hills. Am Falachan is located in Letters (An Leitir), 2.5 miles off the A835 and approximately 10 miles from the west coast fishing village of Ullapool. A perfect basecamp for Scotland's Highlands.
The accommodation is a beautiful round wooden space, the front half of which is fully glazed providing a near 180 degree panorama of the surrounding view. Within this one room there is a double sofa-bed, kitchen and sitting area, and additionally there is a small private shower room and an entrance porch with storage cupboards. The roundhouse sits below the single-track road and is tucked into the contour of the hill. In front is a small wooded area leading down to the sea loch which can be accessed from the roundhouse.
Am Falachan is located in Letters, one of 5 hamlets along a quiet single track cul-de-sac in the crofting community of Lochbroom, near Ullapool, Scotland, United Kingdom. The predominant surroundings are the natural environment - sea, hills, lochs, trees and myriad wildlife. The village of Ullapool has local shops, restaurants, pubs, coffee bars, art galleries and is a small and delightful gateway to the NW Highlands and the outer Hebrides of Lewis, Harris and Uist. If you are walking, the Cape Wrath trail passes through Clachan, just 2 miles away on our road.
  • Rebekah’s place is truly a hidden gem. Definitely the highlight of our two week Scotland trip. Located in such a remote, idyllic village, we were given a very detailed direction before arrival. Everything is exactly as shown in the photos: the sleek interior, the magnificent view overlooking the loch and the mountains. Even on what seems to be a dreich and cold day in February, it is always warm in the room we love it! Rebekah’s personal touch on the space is impeccable; everything is fully prepared to ensure a comfortable stay. We love the fresh baguette, butter and cheese, even the hair and body soap! With a lot of beautiful walking trails nearby, we hoped we could stay longer...

  • The perfect place to relax and unwind. Gorgeous views, cosy and comfortable and a stunning little space. We took some little walks out in the local area which had lovely views. Great host who was kind and helpful with anything we needed. A great place to stay

    Harriet2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you to Rebekah and Jonathon for sharing the roundhouse. Am Falachan is an outstanding property. The setting is perfect. Despite being on the banks of the sea loch it's very sheltered. While we stayed Storm Ciara hit the UK and all we experienced was sound of birdsong and an occasional patter of raindrops, which even managed to sound meditative. And those windows! Perfect for lying in bed and watching the sunrise. Rebekah is a great host and has left lots of lovely touches around the roundhouse with information and local maps for walks. Spotlessly clean, while the kitchen is small its more than adequately equipped to cook all meals, I even managed a sausage casserole! It's the perfect mindful retreat to centre ones-self and enjoy the winter hygge.

  • Amazing place. we didn't want to go home.

    Jacek2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Roundhouse is in the perfect idyllic spot and is ideal for a quiet, romantic getaway. With superb views of the loch, it is fully equipped with everything you could need - the luxury products provided were an extra special touch. Rebekah was an excellent host, always attentive to our needs and happy to help out with questions whilst giving us privacy to offer the escapism we were looking for. The Roundhouse is definitely a special find and I would 100% recommend.

  • What a lovely secluded romantic getaway. Great space. Great location. Great host. Perfect!

  • We had a wonderful stay up in the roundhouse. Rebekah was lovely and made it super easy to locate. The little touches such as breakfast goodies etc just made it even better. Beautiful surroundings in unique and special accommodation!

Situated between Plockton and Kyle of Lochalsh, our remote bed and breakfast has stunning views and you'll get a lovely homemade breakfast with fresh eggs from our chickens! Please note we are in a remote place and are ten minutes drive from restaurants and shops. Please print out the location instructions before your trip as sometimes GPS is not accurate.
Our detached, contemporary house is set just a few metres from the sea, in a tiny hamlet called Port an Eorna and it is only three miles from Kyle of Lochalsh, which is where you cross over the bridge to the Isle of Skye, so it is an ideal base for exploring Skye and the other lovely villages in this area such as Torridon and Applecross. Breakfast is served in the kitchen overlooking the sea and includes home made bread, home made yoghurt and home made granola - all made by Lynne - as well as fruit, cheese, continental meats, cereal, orange juice, tea, coffee, toast, jam, marmalade and pastries (sometimes homemade!). We also have a few hens so if you want some eggs for breakast, just ask! There are three restaurants near us - just two miles away - in the village of Plockton. When you are in the house you do not have to stay in your room. Our lounge has two huge corner windows, with two cosy armchairs so you are very welcome to sit in it and look at the scenery or read or just completely relax. The views are gorgeous and if you want to go for a short walk there is a very nice one outside and you can see beautiful views of the Isle of Skye. There is a private bathroom directly next door to the bedroom which guests will have sole use of and it has a huge shower with a rainforest shower head.
This is a remote neighbourhood - ten minutes drive from any restaurants or shops. It is very tranquil - there are just four detached houses at the end of a single track road - so you can totally relax and enjoy peace and quiet and nature.
  • One of those places where you instantly begin to plan when to visit again.

    Frederik2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say- a truly wonderful stay with some truly wonderful people (including Casper the dog!) Lynne and Darren's home is positioned in the most beautiful landscape imaginable and their lovely modern home makes full use of this view and environment, with very large windows that look out onto unbeatable views. Perched on the edge of the sea, there is always something to look at- an ever changing piece of art. The bedroom is a comfortable space with a large bed and storage, but to be honest we didn't spend any time here unless we were sleeping. This is because Lynne and Darren very kindly give their guests full use of their living space, with stunning views and log burner. The kitchen adjoins this lounge space, so Lynne and Darren were around this space to make food occasionally etc and say hello, but this living space would otherwise be yours to use. Likewise the bathroom next to your bedroom is a lovely functional space, with walk-in shower, and you will have sole use of this during your stay. The kitchen is where Lynne would prepare lovely breakfasts for us each morning. We were spoilt with homemade bread, yoghurt, jams and granola. Cheeses and meats were laid on, as were Lynne's home grown eggs! We also had pastries, buns or crumpets etc on other mornings- we never never short of lovely things to eat. When Lynne and Darren were around they would offer tea and always check in with us. Lynne's home is a croft, and so there are a number of animals around the house! We had a lot of fun watching her chickens and small flock of sheep carry out their daily routines, and we had a lot of entertainment from getting to know their rescue dog Casper. The position of the house makes it ideally placed to walk/ drive to a variety of beauty spots, whether that is a coastal walk around the local peninsula, or a walk into the nearby village of Plockton (which has a number of lovely pubs and places to pick up supplies). You can't help but fall out of the house into the gorgeous countryside! Lynne was on hand to recommend local walks to us during our stay, and we couldn't get enough of exploring the local area. This is a rural location, so if you want to make the most of your stay, bring some walking boots and get ready to explore some incredible scenery first hand! Can't recommend Lynne and Darren's lovely home enough- if you book your stay with them, you won't be disappointed!

    Chloe2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was amazing. The hosts are wonderful, and helped to provide a great experience, serving delicious food, and are knowledgable about the area and generous with their time. The house is located in a gorgeous setting close to the Isle of Skye. Highly recommend

    Remy2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing stay at Lynne and Darren’s! The view is next to none, and the ease to get around is great. So peaceful and pristine, and the home is so cozy and a great base for exploring the Isle of Skye. Loved getting to know the hosts and share some stories over a cuppa!

    Ange2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! We loved staying with Lynne, Darren, and Casper! The house has a stunning view of the sea and its cozy seating areas give you the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy the incredible scenery. Their hospitality is off the charts and we can not recommend a better place to stay. We’re already trying to figure out when we can return!

    Kate2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lynne is such an amazing host. Staying was as comfortable as being at home, and the place is absolutely incredible. There are short walks to take right from the house, and it is ideal to get to Skye, if that is your destination. Lynne also had great tips for where to visit and where to eat. If we are back in the area, we would definitely stay again.

    Jason2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Dreamy location, excellent hosts with good local tips and eclectic conversation. I could sit at those magnificent windows all day if there wasnt so much to see locally.

    Eric2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is the place to stay if you wish to spend a day or more exploring Skye! You will have a fantastic drive through the Highlands to get here. (We recommended arriving during daylight unless you are an experienced driver!) The property itself and the views each morning are wonderful and worth exploring before you even go out for the day. Lovely cafe nearby and we enjoyed the restaurants in Plockton. Lynne is easy to get to know and makes you feel at ease and welcome at all times! Breakfast each morning is enjoyable, especially the eggs from her chickens! Sheep and Highland cows greet you each day as well. A place for animal lovers in a rural environment. The bed and bath area are in a private area of the house, but we felt welcome in the living and kitchen area and enjoyed our time in the chairs looking at the view and enjoying the fire each night.

Holly Lodge tower is at the top of the 120 year old Victorian Lodge. The room is 7ft x 7ft . Once up there you may not want to come down to reality. Small room with a great view & great breakfast. There are 14 small/steep private steps to the tower.
Well.. its not a very big space! - but enough space for one person. Its great up there and you may not want to come down to reality. Why not stay in a Highland Tower? its unique! There is a normal sized single bed with excellent mattress. The bed will be made up with a duck down dovet and two pillows unless you request polyester. In the tower there is a hospitality tray, hairdryer, dressing gown. There is no TV. There is free wifi. There are other bedrooms available if required.
Everyone says its such a good base for exploring the North West or North East.
  • Although I didn't actually get to stay at Fiona's place (due to the COVID-19 outbreak), Fiona was very helpful with the situation and replied swiftly to messages. Thank you for being flexible and helpful during this time! I hope I have the opportunity to visit again :)

    Poppy2020-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great place Great breakfast Do not hesitate!

    Greg2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding. I can’t recommend a stay here at Holly Lodge more highly. The building itself is lovely and full of history and character, as is Strathpeffer. I booked a stay here not knowing where we’d be going or what there might be to do and it turned out to be the perfect little place to enjoy a few day walks in the highlands, as well as enjoy the scenic drives due west to Skye! The rooms themselves are so luxurious and cozy I could not believe the value! I also did not realize that the stay included a hot breakfast, which was so beyond delicious each day (full Scottish with fresh eggs from the lodges own chickens) it made a breakfast eater out of me! Beyond this, Fiona and Andrew provide hotel like accommodations with Airbnb hospitality. They had a holiday party one of the nights I was there and invited me and my dog to take part in the festivities. We had an extraordinary time and it will be by far one of the most memorable parts of our month long journey through the UK. So grateful!

    Katie2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place! Beautiful home, cosy beds, great views. Close to lovely walks. Would stay again!

    Samara2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • One of the loveliest stays I’ve had through Airbnb. Fiona connected me with a friendly, inexpensive ride from the train in Dingwall to her door. The town is very sweet. Quiet, perfect for day trips, loads of walking trails. The people in town were friendly and helpful. The place itself was incredibly comfortable, homey, with loads of character, very thoughtful touches. Breakfast was delicious and the perfect way to start the day. Great coffee. The views from all rooms is beautiful. Loads of recommendations for places to eat/go/walk. And Fiona and her family were the perfect hosts - friendly, warm, accommodating, but also left me to do my own thing. 100% would go back, and 100% would recommend.

    Stewart2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • EN: superb small room, just like a hotel at the price of an Airbnb! The hosts are charming and helpful. Between breakfast and bathrobe, book and board games, be sure to create memories!

Award-winning Hobbit Hideaway is a unique & beautiful space designed to invoke inner peace & tranquillity. It was handcrafted with love to provide a real sense of warmth & nourishment, a welcome escape from the pressures of daily life. It has been described as being like a giant hug, a place that once you enter, you can't help but smile! We provide a welcome treat, fire-wood, cruelty-free soaps, cooking basics & a variety of fairtrade beverages.
Hobbit Hideaway is sadly closing its doors to visitors for as long as instructed, and following guidance issued today by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon at a media briefing: “To our hotels, B&Bs and self-catering accommodation – you should not be accepting visitors. Provide accommodation for your staff and make yourselves available to help essential workers and support essential services – that is all. "Scotland is a warm and welcoming country and I fervently hope it’s not too long before we are opening our arms and our countryside to visitors again – but right now our priority must be to protect people from this virus, protect our NHS and protect Scotland.” If you've ever wanted to experience living in an exquisite natural home, this is your chance. Hobbit Hideaway is a truly natural home built using locally sourced, plentiful, renewable and recycled materials including straw-bales, round-wood, stone, earth, and clay. It is furnished with a high percentage of pre-loved, re-purpose and recycled treasures. Our visitors can enjoy a low impact holiday, take reusable cups, bottles & bags on days-out, make use of our compost bins & recycling facilities, use ethically purchased, cruelty-free soaps, drink fresh Scottish spring water (as used in Speyside whisky production!) and pick their own fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables, when in season. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and accessible. If you have any special requirements we will do our best to accommodate them. Our electricity is sourced from 100% renewable energy and we provide a JVC bluetooth speaker for your music and free wifi. If you want a technology-free break, simply switch it off or ask us to remove it. Hobbit Hideaway is ideal for four people but it's deceptively spacious, so we provided two additional sleeping spaces so large families or small groups can holiday in style. Taking a low impact, stress-free break has never been easier!
Hobbit Hideaway is nestled into a peaceful valley at the foot of the spectacular Ben Rinnes in Moray, Speyside. There is a multitude of things to see and do nearby, ranging from gentle walks, adventure & wildlife parks to water & snow sports! You can play, walk, run, climb, cycle, surf, sail or simply relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery, rugged coastline, and abundance of wild-life. There really is an experience to be had for almost everyone, including our world-famous Speyside whisky trails, festivals and so much more!
  • A wonderful place to relax from everyday stress. The Hobbit Hideaway is furnished with so much attention to detail that you always discover new things. It is a dreamlike piece of earth with so much peace and comfort. Kim is a great host and even baked bread for us. We felt very comfortable and will be back.

    Sandra2020-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay, Kim has thought of everything and is an incredibly thoughtful host! We really enjoyed our stay, and can't wait to return. The Fairy Glen is also a great wee walk and has had a lot of thought put into it. Perfect place to go for peace and quiet and if you're lucky enough to get a clear night stargazing is a must.

    Amie2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The hobbit hideaway is a wonderful place to say, the house is truly unique. We stayed for a few days with our dog Juno Kim made us all super welcome. Juno was free to run around and there are wonderful local walks to go on. There are so many magical touches to this house and garden you just keep noticing more and more special little touches. It’s really comfortable, and everything you need is catered for I would throughly recommend it and would love to say here again sometime.

    Kate2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place in a beautiful spot!

    Campbell2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The hobbit hole is the most wonderful place to stay. The attention to detail is incredible and you can feel the love that has gone into creating the space. It is such a relaxing place to be and everything has been thought of so you have all you need. My daughter loved it and we were all sad that we weren’t staying longer. We can’t recommend it highly enough!

    Tamsyn2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is an incredible venue that is suitable for all kinds of different people. Whilst it’s all about basking in natural properties and economical living, it is very luxurious. The cleanliness throughout makes it extra inviting. It is deceptively bigger than expected, you can even take yourself away for peace and quiet whilst others chat if you like. The lighting is perfect for a cosy ambience by the fire. Every bit of space is perfectly thought out. There are so many thoughtful touches, we brought games, books and food with us and we really didn’t need to as Kim considers all ages and pets! The beds are super comfy, there is everything you need here. The views are outstanding and it is very peaceful. We are just sad we couldn’t stay longer as there is so much to explore. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway to spend quality time together this is your ideal place and you could easily spend a week in the hobbit hideaway and surrounding gardens with plenty to keep you entertained and happy. We would highly recommend this place!

    Amy2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a beautiful and unique property that has clearly been built with so much love. We stayed in the midst of a February storm and were a bit worried we'd be cold, I must admit. But the Hobbit Hideaway is as cosy as can be. Highly recommended 😊

There were lovey little touches throughout the apartment and there was cereal, bread, and staples available for us. Rebecca was quick to respond to inquiries and had great tips in the apartment for local restaurants, etc. The apartment is a short walk to pubs, etc. We would definitely stay here again.

The studio is cozy, has everything you might need AND offers a gorgeous view over the river from the kitchen, what else could you want? Look no further, this place is perfect for a stay in Inverness! Also very close to public transit, and almost next door to a pub called The Waterfront, which I highly recommend as well. Thank you Rebecca for a great first stay while in Scotland!

A cosy, open-plan cabin for two overlooking the sea with outstanding views north to the Outer Hebrides; east beautiful Loch Snizhort, south views to Raasay and the mainland; and the ferry port of Uig and Trotternish Mountains behind. The accommodation comprizes a lounge area, well equipped kitchen, washing machine, toilet/shower room, and double bed on the mezzanine standing room restricted, wifi, plenty of books, maps and DVDs, No TV. Good mobility is required to access the mezzanine floor.
The Cabin is compact but has a great feeling of space inside. It has a marine theme with its furnishings, artwork, some of its wall lights and boaty staircase. There are also a few objects originally from old boats. The Cabin is on a working croft and lies within its own garden and next to the croft house.
The surrounding area is a quiet crofting community along a single track road next to the sea and the countryside also makes the Cabin an ideal centre for walking or off road cycling, with paths through the forestry or out to the lighthouse on Waternish Point. Boat trips are available nearby at Stein, or Portree and farther South from Carbost and Elgol.
  • Kathy's place is great! it is beautifully decorated inside and the view out is amazing. we stayed for 3 nights and as 2 days were pouring with rain the cabin was a great place to have a cup of tea, read a book and enjoy relaxing. Kathy was brilliant at communicating and the cabin had everything we could have needed. I would definitely recommend staying here!

    Calum2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! Beautiful little spot out of the way, away from the touristy spots. Beautiful views. Lovely and warm. The bed was snug and perfect for an evening out of the weather! Very kind hosts who were quick to help us out with anything we needed. Thanks again!

  • This cabin is so cute and filled with lovely little touches that give it some much character. The setting is perfect as well with stunning views of the coast and, at night, a lovely little skylight by the bed to stargaze from.

    Caleb2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time in Skye. The area is very remote, but scenery is gorgeous and well worth the timely driving to and from places! Make sure to have a Sat Nav but more importantly follow Kathy's advice re directions to the house!

    Eleanor2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Had such a lovely stay in the cabin. We loved it from the moment we arrived from the beautiful location to the design and warmth of the building. That feeling only improved as we spent more time in the cabin. It's been so well designed and everything has been thought of. Lots of helpful information in the binder about the cabin itself and the local area. We were torn between spending more time inside or exploring the island. Kathy was very prompt with information and responses after booking and Gareth was very friendly and helpful on checking in.

    Tom2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy's place is very tidy and has everything you need for a multi-day getaway -- all the amenities provided for like it's your home. We did not meet Kathy but she was very responsive over messaging, and Gareth helped us check in. Everything else was addressed in the binder and brochures provided. We'll definitely come back again and maybe stay for a few days longer.

    Stephanie2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy’s place was the best home we stayed in of all of Scotland. We loved the remoteness of the place and the sound of the wind beating against the cozy cottage at night. The place is quite obscure but once you reach the small town of Geary, follow her directions and you’ll find the place just fine. Kathy was a really responsive host and her and her family were welcoming, providing us with tips about the area. Would definitely stay there again!

    Gwen2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy's cabin is a little magical retreat, where you can forget about all your worldy problems. Yet it is equipped with everything that you need. And rest assured that you will be welcomed by the nicest people!

The Field House sits on the edge of a hayfield just outside Fort Augustus. It is a warm and intimate space, with a living and dining area with spectacular views of the fields and hills, an ensuite shower room, a galley kitchen and two single beds in the loft. The decking is frequented by game birds, hares and owls, and highland cattle graze in the neighbouring field. Fort Augustus and Loch Ness are a short walk away, and the house is perfectly located for exploring the highlands further afield.
A unique space, formally a hay shed, then an art gallery, constructed from trees felled in local woods by the owner and milled on the farm.
Fort Augustus is a friendly village with a fascinating history.
  • The field house is one of the most beautiful places I ever stayed at. So many wonderful details make this place so unique and comfortable. The surrounding is great to take long walks and Olivia and her husband also have perfect recommendations for things to do in the area. We will for sure come back as soon as possible!

  • We had a lovely stay at the bothy. It wasn't quite the trip we imagined as it was the start of the covid pandemic so other than walks out in the open we had to stay inside. Thankfully the bothy was a lovely place to stay in so it wasn't too difficult to do. We just wish we were able to explore Skye a little more. Thanks Joanna. We hope to be back when this is all over.

    Caelan2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the bothy. The property was truly stunning and the location and the view were amazing. Joanna had thought of everything and we really enjoyed the small touches. The breakfast was really good and Lambikins was very friendly.

  • If you're considering booking a stay at Joanna's bothy - don't hesitate! It is absolutely perfect and will make your stay on Skye extra special. Joanna is probably the best AirBnB host we've ever experienced; she went above and beyond to make everything perfect including a wonderful welcome package of Scottish goodies including tunnocks tea cakes and smoked salmon. Super comfy bed with luxury linen, and the bath robes make it feel like a five star hotel. Special mention also to their pet sheep, Lamakins. What a character!! We'll definitely be booking again for out next trip to the island.

Amenities were above and beyond. Jo even provides lovely breakfast food to get you started and there is a full kitchen to make what you wish. The location is perfect for those who want to be close to all of the island's top hikes and sites. They even have a friendly pet lamb named Lambikins! We are already planning our next trip just to stay in this airbnb.

  • It’s beautiful and stylish, but also cosy and practical. If the weather is bad you could happily hole up here for days. If you’re up this way, you should definitely try and book. Lovely hosts too.

  • Lovely quirky accomodation with the most attentive hosts. We arrived to a lovely cosy hut with the log burner in full swing. We were treated to the most delicious home bakes and the hot tub under the stars is highly recommended. What's not to love? Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We'll be recommending you to family and friends :)

    Kerry2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We can’t say enough good things about Charlotte’s place. Amazing communication from first contact and a warm welcome, with a roaring fire waiting for us. The place is so creative and stylish but also really comfortable and unique. Comfy bed, great linens, excellent soaps and such. The pictures are accurate but can’t really capture how special it is. Anything you could think to want was there, with thoughtful and fun touches everywhere. Be sure to book the wood-fired hot tub - we had and amazingly clear night under the stars. Don’t hesitate!

    Kim2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Nissen. It’s a great place and perfect for cosying up after a day out and about exploring. The host Charlotte made us feel very welcome and was quick to respond to any messages before and during our stay. I would definitely recommend staying here

  • The Nissen is by far the best air bnb we have had the pleasure of staying at. The space is stunningly stylish, full of amazing little touches and perfect for cozying up after exploring the Black Isle. Charlotte is the perfect host, available if you need help but also quite content to just let you enjoy the peace and quiet the location affords you. With the added bonus of some delicious home baked treats and cute animals to hang out with. We will definitely be back!

Sitting above Loch Harport enjoying the view. I designed and built the house myself which is why it has a personal feel, its spacious and at the same time cosy. just a few minutes drive from Carbost with the "Old Inn" and the famous Talisker distillery to explore.
  • Has to be one of the most incredible places we have ever stayed! The views from every window are absolutely stunning. We travelled all around the Isle of Skye and thought the location was the best. The house itself is beautifully designed. We were both shocked with how beautiful as the pictures don’t even do it justice. Lovely and warm inside, large kitchen, comfy sofas. We are both dying to stay again! Thank you Grant :-)

The Bothy is a self-contained wooden cabin on the edge of our own woodland at West Cottage and Stables, nestling in the heart of Glen Lyon and at the beginning of many excellent walks and cycle rides. There's a double bed, extra bed, luxury bathroom, and wood burning stove. Most guests choose self-catering (there's a hob, fridge, and everything you need to cook with) at our base price. We can provide breakfast (£7.50 per person) and/or a dinner (£20 per person) if you'd prefer.
It's a cosy single-room cabin set up for self catering with small loft space, and a luxurious shower room and toilet. There's a wood-burning stove for heat and a small kitchen area. The floor is stone and the walls are wooden. There is a bed and a comfortable sofa bed for children or if you'd prefer a twin setup too.
We are pretty much in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by mountains. You will see red squirrels, deer, many birds, hedgehogs. A stream runs down the side of the property and if it's hot you can have a dip. Have a look at PH15 2PL on G. Earth and you'll see what we mean. From the Bothy you have the woods on one side, a view up the Glen to the east on the other. Come in Spring and enjoy the bluebells and baby birds. Or summer, for swimming in the Invervar Burn and the drone of bees. Or Autumn, for wild mushrooms and the colours of the trees all down the Glen. Or winter, for snowy walks and cosy fires and perhaps a wee dram...
  • We stayed two nights in the bothy and had very peaceful enjoyable stay. The surroundings are magnificent and the bothy was as described and has everything you need for a remote getaway. It was very toasty too and the bed was ultra comfy. We took plenty of supplies and entertainment and hiked up the hill behind the property and surrounding areas, the was no need to go find a phone signal or leave this beautiful spot but it would also be a great base for the surrounding area. We woke up to bird song in the morning, met some deer on the trial and even saw a stoat! Thanks to Tim and Judy for hosting us and our wee cat Uma. We highly recommend this spot.

    Becki2020-03-24T00:00:00Z

  • We absolutely loved our stay at the cabin. The log fired stove kept the cabin cosy, the bed and sofa were comfortable, the location was perfect. If you want a full body workout let Milly lead you on a walk up the munro as she will have you bending and throwing sticks the whole way up! The cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Take plenty of books, games, sewing etc and enjoy a more relaxed pace of life.

  • Absolutely charming little cabin getaway! Exactly what my partner and I wanted. This Bothy is in a stunning location with lots of walking straight out the door. The space was cosy and comfortable, and has everything you need to cook! We didn’t even use the stove.. opting to cook on the wood stove top instead! Wished we had stayed longer!

    Annabel2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We have just had a fantastic stay in the Bothey. The place is set with mountains either side which make for amazing views. We took a walk straight to the back of the woods on the property. From there we ended up a couple of mountains with unbelievable views down the Glen. The Bothey itself is small but very cosy. The wood burner soon gets the place very warm. I would definitely come stay again. Tim and Judy are as relaxed hosts as you can get and made us fee very welcome from the moment we arrived. So if you're looking for a remote hidden gem, this is the place.

It was a bit of a tight fit for four adults, but the cabin had everything we needed and worked just fine for our one night stay. The hot tub was very nice, and we also really appreciated the washer and dryer on the premise! Location very convenient to Culloden battlefield.

Our beautiful wooden pods are set on the hillside behind the Cowshed Boutique Bunkhouse and enjoy amazing views across to the bay and the hilly surroundings of Uig. In a wonderful location to explore the Isle of Skye, The Cowshed is perfectly situated for enjoying spectacular sunsets in a peaceful setting. We have 7 pods available, and each of these cosy spaces is equipped with enough comforts for you to enjoy a relaxing break surrounded by nature.
Each pod has a double bed and a double pull out sofa bed. We believe that they are the perfect size for a couple or a family with 1 or 2 small children, but may be a little too 'cosy' for more than 2 adults, or a family with older children. Each pod is self contained with a small en-suite wetroom, as well as a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, kettle, and crockery. Inside the pod you also have a little dining table with chairs, and outside each pod is a wooden bench for you to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Pets are welcome to join you in the pod, but please let us know this at the time of booking. There is an additional charge of £5.00 per night to bring a pet, and this can be paid on arrival. Unfortunately pets are not allowed in the kitchen/lounge space of the main bunkhouse. Maximum of 2 dogs per pod. We have WiFi available 24/7 in our main bunkhouse building, but this does not stretch up to the pods. We hope you are able to enjoy the peaceful surroundings while at your pod, and make the most of your time to 'switch off'.
The village of Uig is not very big, but has everything you could need during your stay. There is an excellent general store for your grocery needs (Rankins), a petrol station, cafes, restaurants and a couple of bars. The Isle of Skye Brewing Company is also based in the village.. Local wildlife is in abundance with seals and otters often spotted in the bay and eagles and buzzards soaring overhead. During Spring and Summer there are daily boat trips from the Uig Pier to look for whales and puffins. There are some great local walks, shorter options include a stroll through the woods to the sea shore, a walk to the thundering Rha Falls, or exploring the fantastic landforms of the Fairy Glen and feel the magic of this quite unique miniature landscape of grassy cone shaped hills. Longer hikes take you up to the scenic wonders of the Trotternish Ridge. The Isle of Skye offers something for everyone; amazing hiking, glorious scenery, varied wildlife…. the list is endless. The Cowshed Boutique Bunkhouse makes the perfect base to make the most of everything the island has to offer. We are surrounded by beautiful scenery and just a short drive from some of the great ‘North End Highlights’, including the Quiraing, The Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock and, just a short walk away from the Cowshed, the magical Fairy Glen. The wonders of the North West of the island should also not be missed, with the Fairy Pools, Neist Point Lighthouse, Dunvegan Castle, Coral Beaches and the Talisker Distillery, to name just a few highlights which are easy to reach from Uig. The staff would be happy to recommend great day trips from here, ensuring that you don’t miss any of the or hidden away secrets.
  • Warm welcome, very pleasant pod. Great stay!

  • We had an amazing night staying at the cowsheds. The view- WOW! Everyone was so nice and welcoming and the communal lounge was amazing.

    Chris2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Cowshed is one of the most interesting Airbnb’s we have been. It is located on the top of the hill overlooking a picturesque view of the sea and the mountains. We went on a winter and the winds are pretty strong but the Cowshed is warm and toasty.

  • Very nice pods, located in a beautiful place. In addition, there is also a public area (hostel) with a large kitchen where you can also cook. Nice atmosphere and very hospitable staff. 3 days was really too short. Too bad we could not stay longer.

    Sacha2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Such a nice spot, amazing views and amazing pods! Will definitely be returning! Absolutely loved our stay!

  • The photos do not do this airbnb justice, a beautiful, well designed and thought out property. It exceeded our expectations! Lara was an excellent host especially her prompt replying with any questions we had about the house, local area and amenities. We would definitely stay there again!

    Danielle2020-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most magical weekend. The house was even more brilliant than we excepted. There was everything we needed and the location was fab. Thanks for a great trip.

  • Excellent accommodation and space.1st class host. Highly recommended

    Gordon2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don't do justice to how great Lara's place is. The space is great for a group, and all the rooms were excellent. Lara was very responsive and the information on arrival was very helpful. Would 100% stay again!

    Sam2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great weekend away with some friends. Everything you need, lovely place complete with hot tub, comfortable beds and cosy wood burning stoves. Lara was very helpful allowing us to check in early and check out late. Thanks!

    John2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lara was a superb host. Everything was straight forward and easy. Nice touches like a welcome basket and prepared fires in the stoves just made that special difference. Perfect getaway for family and/or friends in a great spot for exploring the cairngorms. Whatever the reason you’ll love the accommodation, warm friendly and welcoming! Can’t recommend enough :)

    Chris2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding stay! With 3 adults and 2 kids, we had more room than we could dream of - the house is even more spacious than the pictures convey. Beautiful decor, so comfortable, cozy and warm, and the hot tub is heaven. The nearby Landmark Adventure centre is amazing for kids (and adults!) Woke up to a red squirrel eating an apple right outside the window. Can’t wait to come back xxx

  • This wonderful house on the riverbank at the edge of the village has a very good layout for families, is very well equipped and has a cosy, comfortable atmosphere. We enjoyed the generous facilities with our family of 10. Renting this house is an exceptional opportunity. Bart

  • Lovely self-catering cottage with a big comfortable bed. Perfect for a couples retreat as the name suggests. Wendy greeted us when we arrived and gave us some visiting tips. Clean quiet place with a private entrance that is well lit at night. We got our food supplies at local town Tomnavoulin. Wendy 's place is well equip for self catering. Perfect location. It's a short drive to the Scalan heritage trail. We also did Carn Daimh forest trail which is about 10min drive away. Glenlivet distillery is also nearby. Definitely worth a tour if you are a whisky fan.

  • We stayed at the cottage right at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak. Bruce was extremely flexible on our schedule, which we had to change several times, and checked up on us when we returned to the U.S. The cottage is easily walkable to the center of town, clean, and the internet worked flawlessly. Bruce also stocked the fridge with juice, milk, bread and jelly. We would stay again if we returned to Inverness.
