  • The home is well kept, very comfortable, and relaxing. It’s in a beautiful neighborhood, on a quiet street, surrounded by lovely older homes. The host is very helpful and responds quickly. As an older woman traveling alone I felt very safe and I slept great! I would absolutely recommend this location. Thanks again Jamie.

Secluded on our 70 acre property, there is a lot of room for fun here! Be prepared for an authentic camping experience; the kitchen stove, lights, and heating are run on propane and the only bathroom is an outhouse. There is no electricity (generator on site) and no running water. There’s a fire pit outside with a shed stocked with wood, and it’s located near an ATV trail head. Plenty of yard space for tents, games, and/or target practice! Pets are allowed!
The whole yard is mowed consistently and is entirely up to you to use! There’s about an acre of space for activities. The generator is there for you to use to charge phones, play music as loud or as quiet as you want, etc.
The cabin is about 10 minutes from the city of Chisholm. The Lucky Seven has a Subway inside and is situated right as you’re turning onto the main road towards the property.
  • Matt’s cabin in Chisholm is simply a wonderful getaway. With the early October snowfall, great to have the woodburning stock we to cozy things up a bit. This is our second hunting party stay with Matt; looking forward to our return!

  • Away from people. Amazing cabin. Owners were great to deal with. I will be going back for sure

  • This cabin was perfect for our circumstances. Great location, great privacy, great condition. If you're looking for a luxury, it's not for you and they do a great job of setting those expectations. However, if you're looking for something woodsy that is much more comfortable than camping - but away from the hustle and bustle of a hotel or resort - this is a great option. We would absolutely stay here again. Thanks for the hospitality and cozy cabin feel at a great price!

THE LOFT AT THE MITCHELL-TAPPAN CARRIAGE HOUSE is located on the upper level via a small set of stairs in a separate entrance. The Loft sleeps up to four people with a queen bed, a sofa sleeper, and a portable floor mattress. It has a traditional warm decor and includes a sitting and dining area, full kitchenette, and private bathroom with a shower.
We are in a residential neighborhood just a few blocks from both main streets - Howard Street and First Avenue. Walking distances to restaurants, shopping, biking/hiking trails, etc.
  • Location was perfectly centralized to my weekend itinerary!

    David2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our weekend North to visit Sax-Zim was canceled due to a winter storm, but luckily we were able to all go the following weekend. Our original reservation wasn't available so we scrambled to find something and luckily came across the loft. It was perfect for our group of four - very cozy and comfortable (close quarters but fine for people who are comfortable with each other). The extra foam mattress was very comfortable, as was the bed (per those who used it). It's a very nice space with many thoughtful touches. We arrived after midnight and Kelly made sure we had everything we needed to get in on our own. Overall a great experience.

    Lesley2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely clean, convenient digs with everything you might need for a weekend respite on the range. We'd def. choose this spot again. Skip the hotel, get a real space!

    Julia2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here to go to Sax-Zim Bog and it was great! Kelly was very kind and helpful, and the loft was so adorable! There's a separate entrance and great amenities. I'd definitely recommend staying there.

  • We enjoyed our stay in the carriage house. The space is one long room, including a kitchen, and a bathroom that is set off and private. Everything worked, beds were good, very clean, and a nice place to relax outside as well. Great place!

  • Great studio area to stay in Hibbing. Able to heat up food in microwave and have hot coffee and cold wine 🙂. My husband and I went birding at Sax-Zim Bog and had a great day finding winter birds with others including the area naturalist. Great gray owl, northern hawk owl, snowy owl, barred owl, northern goshawk, Canada jay, evening grosbeaks, etc!!

  • Charming (a bit frilly, but that's okay) large room in carriage house in a beautiful neighborhood.

    Mark2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, private home away from home. Host is in house next door, was super friendly but also gave us space. Shower is nice. Roku and Netflix for down times. There is another room above, barely heard them. Close to Mesabi bike trail. Eat at Boomtown, walkable distance.

    John2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly’s garden cottage is delightful and sparkling clean. We only spent one night but would have happily stayed longer. There is a darling patio that is available to guests. The location is great as you can walk to the town center and restaurants. If we get back to Hibbing, we’d love to stay there again.

Airplane hangar converted into a unique home complete with two large bedrooms, 1 bath, and heated 1 stall attached garage. The "Hangar" has heated floors and a gas fireplace for cozy winter getaways. Located on Elbow Lake "The Hangar" is located minutes from Virgina and Eveleth/Gilbert. (Note: The Hangar is not lake side, however, lake access is available) -36 mn from Giants Ridge -25 mn from Hibbing -10 mn from Hwy 53. -The property is also a short drive (30 miles) from the Sax-Zim Bog
The Hangar as we like to call it was actually built as an airplane hangar back in 1985. The back door is still a 48-foot bi-fold hangar door and the horse pasture you drive by on the way in was the airstrip, with a seaplane base located down in the lagoon in front of my sister Peggy’s house. The Idea to convert part of the building to living quarters was the idea of my sister Lisa, her plan was to live in the hangar until I completed her house on the adjacent property. In 2005, she purchased the property and I began the conversion in 2006. The process was slow as I worked on it in my spare time along with my father and brother-in-law Bob. Lisa was responsible for the interior design and did all the decorating and painting. In 2009, I began construction on my sister Peggy’s house on the other adjacent property, during construction Peggy and her husband Bob became the first inhabitants of the Hangar. In 2011, construction began on Lisa’s home and she moved into the hanger. People joked with me about my turn in the hangar, and in 2013 Wendy and I sold our house, purchased the hangar from Lisa and moved in. We have enjoyed a quiet lifestyle but decided it was time for an adventure! I took a leave from my job as a high school teacher of 24 years, I also hung up my hammer as a contractor and we packed our bags and moved to Nashville TN. We enjoy coming home to MN and hope to enjoy the peacefulness that “The Hangar” provides for years to come. We also hope that you can enjoy the quietness and peacefulness as well. We welcome the chance to share our home with you and hope that you will enjoy and respect the property.
We love to eat breakfast or just have coffee at Kunnaris Farmers Market in Virginia, just a short drive away.
  • Clean, quirky, and super cute! This amazing space has great touches of thoughtfulness left by the amazing hosts. You can tell that a great deal of care was put into the space and a relaxing atmosphere is the result. Great weekend getaway in northern Minnesota!

    Lydia2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful, cozy, serene escape destination! Topped off with thoughtful amenities, and very sparkly clean all around.

    John2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Hangar! The space is so large- and yet warm and full of cozy touches. There were only two of us but this would be a great space for a family. It is easy to get to but secluded. We didn't want to leave and will probably be coming back.

    Julia2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • I love “The Hanger” and can’t wait until my next visit!!! EVERYTHING was spectacular!!! It’s truly a very special place!!!! I will be back!!! 💗

    Janice2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We 4 new retirees had a great time - though too short. We had planned a quick trip to the Sax-Zim Bog area for bird watching so only allowed 1 over night. Almost as soon as we arrived we wanted to stay another night. We enjoyed the well furnished and well laid out kitchen as we prepared a good spagetti dinner. We appreciated the fireplace and the comfey chairs and sofa as we stayed cozy even though we heard later on Th that it had been -34F in Cotton overnight (that must have been windchill?). It was also a great benefit to put our truck in the garage for ease of unloading and loading especially due to the cold weather. We'd recommend your place to others and think it has enough common space to accommodate up to 6 adults for a small family gathering if you had a hide-a-bed. We'll definitely think of your place for future visits to the area.

    Gary2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • It’s everything and more! The Hangar will be a place we can reflect on for memories of our time on the range. Great hosts, accommodations are fantastic and the peace and quiet is a rare find!

    Erik2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect Up North Getaway that you are looking for! The Hangar is ridiculously well done and cozy. This is not “a cabin up North with basic furnishings”. This is a craftsman built home in every true sense of the word that invites you in and makes you want to stay “just one more day”. From the gorgeous horses that greet you as you enter the private drive, to the heated garage, heated floors and fireplace stove this place makes you say sigh with gratitude that you found a winner on the internet. The pictures don’t do the place justice. (Shoot them again on a sunny day when you can see the colors and textures of the wood pop!) The Hangar is a labor of love that you want to tell your friends about but don’t really want too because it will be booked for eternity. ☺️ It feels very private but communication with the owners is lightening fast. With 2 separate bedrooms it’s a great getaway for couples, families or a friends weekend. The kitchen is well stocked with quality dishwater, pans and cutlery. It has everything you need to cook and host a dinner for friends. I counted seating for 13 easy. New grill works great! Patio out front for watching the lightening bugs...yes please. Good cable TV for rainy days and WiFi was strong so you can even get a bit of work done before everyone wakes up in the office area (with printer...are you kidding me?) The Hangar was spotless and even has a full size washer/dryer just in case. I would definitely stay here again and I hope you find this place as awesome as we did.

Your large private bedroom on the second floor (there are stairs) of our home has a queen bed with a new comfortable mattress. It has always had a mattress protector. There is a futon couch and TV in the attached sun room. Your private bathroom with tub/shower combo is off the central hallway next to your room. There is a Keurig coffee maker and small refrigerator in your room if you prefer alone time rather than using our kitchen and living room.
Our 5000 sq ft home, known in the old days as a "Captains House," is one of the jewels of the rich history of the Mesabi Iron Range. It was designed with entertaining and hosting in mind and built by the Oliver Mining Company in the early 1900's. We will respect your privacy to the best of our ability with your understanding that we live here; this is our home. There is a common entrance to the house as well as a stairway to the second floor hallway from which all bedrooms and the guest bathroom are accessed.
We are located in a quiet neighborhood on the edge of a golf course. Hiking, biking, snowmobile and ATV trails are nearby and easily accessible. ATVs and snowmobiles can be driven from our house to the state trails. The Mesabi Bike Trail runs through beautiful Olcott Park about a mile from our house. There are also blacktopped walking paths around Virginia's 2 lakes.
  • I stayed here for only one night and wish I had been able to spend more time in Virginia! The house is wonderful and has so much history. Peter and June Marie were great hosts, and it was awesome to hear a bit of history of the house and the iron range of Minnesota.

    Alissa2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Peter's place is great. We had a lovely stay and they are such kind and generous hosts. They really went out of their way for us and made our trip to northern Minnesota that much better. If we are ever coming through the area again we would love to stay here.

    Kimi2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Peter and JuneMarie are wonderful hosts! Their house is attractive, cozy and welcoming. The bed was comfortable and Peter walked us through check-in by pointing out various amenities to make our stay feel like home. This will be our first place to reserve when we're visiting 'the range' since our relatives have downsized. We even recommend this place to other relatives who will visit soon.

    Ben2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Peter's and Junemarie's house is lovely and my rooms were so warm and comfortable. I say "rooms" because there was the bedroom and a little separate sitting room with a TV and such dedicated to the room's guests. I also had sole use of the bathroom next to my room. I want to mention that the bed was one of the most comfortable mattresses I've ever slept on. I was there for only one night, because my work was tightly scheduled, but the home and their wonderful hospitality made me wish I could stay longer. I hope I get to return sometime for a longer stay. Thank you Peter and Junemarie! :)

    Barbara2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Peter and Junemarie are wonderful hosts. They had excellent communication and made our stay very enjoyable. Their home is lovely and the room was very comfortable and clean. The extra water and coffee was a welcome addition. We will be back.

    Brad2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Peter and Junemarie were amazing hosts. Not only was it great talking and communicating with them, but had a beautiful, safe, and clean house. I was very comfortable throughout my stay. Some of the many ways Peter and Junemarie went above and beyond a host’s expectations, was they offered me winter clothing as well as set the heating in my rental car to properly warm up the cabin.

    David2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is lovely! Peter and JuneMarie are incredible hosts and they go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. The room was very cozy and even had a sun room attached where you can watch TV. Great place to stay!

    Sarah2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Peter and Junemarie's house. The house is beautiful and unique, and so comfortable. They thought of absolutely everything to make our stay as wonderful as possible. We so appreciated their hospitality, and we hope to return if we're ever in Virginia, MN again. We'd highly recommend staying with them.

    Paula2018-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • I was on a two week motorcycle trip and needed a hot shower and a roof. I love airbnb. I had the place to myself, so I cannot say how it would be with other guests. Myrna was a super nice and sweet host. I really enjoyed visiting with her. This place would be great to house a large number of people in one place. The bunks reminded me of like having kids over for a sleep over with a camp type feel and then there are private rooms upstairs to get away from the sleep over atmosphere. She covers it all. You are walking distance to eating and the gas station is next door. There is quite a bit of traffic on the main thoroughfare, even at night.

This private space is in the lower level of our home, in a woodsy setting up north. Full sized windows provide natural lighting and great viewing of the wildlife. Guest have 2-room bedroom suite with 2 double beds, 2 bathrooms with showers, and a small kitchen/living room. Additional sleeping accommodations may be available for small groups. There is a swimming beach within walking distance, and many good fishing lakes nearby.
This is a rustic but comfortable living area with a fully equipped kitchen. Hundreds of acres around us provide perfect wildlife habitat. The deer are naturally curious, and have been known to peek in the windows while you are peeking out. It is common to see pileated woodpeckers, gray fox, and hear the wolves eerie howling late at night. Of course, we have our share of songbirds, raccoons and skunks, too! In all seasons the tile floors allow you to sneak in for a cup of coffee without de-booting!
Very private setting with opportunity to enjoy nature, and yet only about 15 miles from the closest Target store (Grand Rapids). This is a rural residential neighborhood. There is a lake just down the road and the swimming beach is a short hike from the house. A great alternative to a motel if you are in the area for work or play!
  • Terry is a wonderful host. She greeted us, left fruit and snacks for us during our stay. The space was large, comfortable and clean. Definitely will stay again. The location to snowmobiling is perfect.

  • The pictures don’t do it justice! This was a great place to stay, clean, nice extra touches, and Terry and Bob were very thoughtful. We stayed with our 8 month old twins and despite crummy weather most of the week we were able to relax and have a nice vacation. Terry was easy to communicate with and gave really great directions on how to get to their place! It was convenient to get to Grand Rapids for activities and stores. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone!

  • A very nice out-of-the-way place with great amenities. If you want peace and quiet, definitely the place to go. It was half way between two of my favorite lakes and worked out very well.

    Dick2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend. We appreciated having 2 bathrooms, we enjoyed watching the deer up close, observing the humming birds, and sitting by the fire and star-gazing at night!

    Maria2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and comfortable in a beautiful setting. Deer played in front of our window, we saw lots of birds and took a nice walk to a nearby lake (in Minnesota there’s always a nearby lake😊)

Get away to your own private retreat, perfect for a staycation or a change of pace while working from home! This woodland cabin has all the modern conveniences of home (fast internet!) while offering northwoods peace and quiet. Surrounded by public forest and near the Sturgeon Lake chain, hours of outdoor activities await you. If you'd rather spend your time indoors, this comfy cabin has you covered with everything you need for a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a weekend with friends.
Our cabin is a wonderful retreat for all seasons. Whether you're looking to relax indoors by the fire, work from home in style, or go on a wilderness adventure, you are welcome here. Enjoy a private five acre property that borders George Washington State Forest. In winter (and early spring) you can enjoy some great snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or snowmobiling. Up in the northwoods, we have plenty of snow to enjoy, usually sticking around well into April! We have snowshoes for guest use (2 pair for adults, 2 pair for kids), and you can explore paths around the state forest or McCarthy Beach State Park. Snowmobilers can take the road from our place to join up with the Taconite Trail, with access to miles and miles of riding. There are also skiing trails galore in nearby parks and wilderness areas; the Mesabi Trail is also open for skiing in the winter. For the outdoor enthusiast in summer, there's a bird-watching bench, a bags/cornhole set, badminton or volleyball net to set up, and nearby trails through the pines. There are two mountain bikes you can borrow to ride to town or hit the Mesabi Trail. To enjoy the many lakes that are less than 15 minutes away, we also have two high-quality inflatable kayaks (Sea Eagle 370s) that can serve as either tandem (2-person) or solo kayaks. Easy to throw in the car and inflate with a foot pump at the lake! We also offer our 17' Gruman aluminum canoe with a car-loading kit if you'd rather take a canoe to the chain of five lakes nearby. For swimming, canoeing, and kayaking, McCarthy Beach State Park is a ten-minute drive away, with a swimming beach, modern changing facilities, and canoe rental. While the fun and excitement of the lakes are just a few minutes away, our cabin offers guests a retreat that is off the beaten path, where they can experience the sights and sounds of the wilderness. (And as a bonus, we still enjoy the waterfront aesthetic, with a gorgeous view of our neighbor’s pond). Watch the chickadees, woodpeckers, and many other birds flock to the feeders while you sip your morning coffee in the sun room, and listen to the frogs croaking in the evening as you sit around the fire pit. After watching the sun set over the pond, you'll see a beautiful sky full of stars, and sometimes even the northern lights. If you venture outside at night, you might catch a glimpse of an owl or flying squirrel, or you might hear the wolves howling in the distance. On a rainy day, you can sip cocoa or a cocktail in the screened-in gazebo, choose a movie to watch on the cozy couch, relax by a roaring fire, cook a gourmet meal in our fully equipped kitchen, or enjoy one of our many puzzles and games at the game table while the birds visit the feeders just a few feet away. No matter the season, your vacation can be as relaxing or action-packed as you like. The cabin has convenient sleeping arrangements: two bedrooms with comfy wooden beds, including a queen with double-thick mattress in the master bedroom and a twin-over-full bunk bed to ensure everyone gets a great night's sleep. A queen-sized futon and twin size pull-out loveseat in the common space can sleep a few more. The master bedroom boasts an en-suite bath complete with shower and oversized whirlpool tub, and there's an additional bathroom with shower off the living room as well. The entire cabin is on one level-- no steep stairs to navigate! Our fiber internet is fast and reliable, so you can be as connected (or disconnected) as you like. The Side Lake area has some great places to eat and drink that are full of local character, plus attractions ranging from bike trails and nature programs to museums and live music venues. Chisholm, Hibbing, Virginia, and Grand Rapids are all within an hour. Send us a message today if you have any questions about our place-- we're always happy to provide more detailed information or discuss a longer stay. Current note: We are currently still taking bookings. If you have to be stuck somewhere, we think our little piece of wilderness is a pretty fantastic place to do it! For the health and safety of our guests (and ourselves) during the COVID-19 outbreak, we will now require a minimum of 48 hours between guests during the months of March and April. In addition, we have beefed up our cleaning regimen, making absolutely certain that we sanitize all surfaces, knobs, handles, light switches, etc. between guests. Of course, guests are invited to use our cleaning products to do some additional sanitizing if that’s how you prefer to kick off a vacation. (You do you, friend.) Finally, please note that, a day or two before check-in, we will ask all guests to confirm that everyone in their household has shown no symptoms of COVID-19. If you are ill, we ask that you stay home. We will waive our cancellation fees for circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic, including if you or someone in your house is sick, or if there are mandatory travel restrictions.
Side Lake is a thriving community with lots of charm. McCarthy Beach State Park, with swimming, fishing, canoe rental, and other activities, is four miles away. There are five lakes nearby, all with some public access, as well as hundreds of acres of state forest, so you can fish, boat, ski, snowshoe, snowmobile, bike, and hike to your heart's content. There are a couple cute (and tasty!) restaurants in town, as well as a gas station and a general store that sells ice cream and basic supplies. Chisholm, a little further down the road, has a bakery and several more restaurants and shops, as well as the Minnesota Discovery Center, Minnesota Museum of Mining, and a local landmark, the giant statue of an iron worker. Thirty minutes away is the town of Hibbing, with lots of dining options, as well as beautiful Historic Hibbing, the breathtaking Hull-Rust Mine View, and the Greyhound Bus Museum. Grand Rapids and Virginia, also nearby, offer museums, shopping, recreation, and entertainment. One hour south is the Sax-Zim Bog, a nationally known birding location that's open year 'round, but especially popular in the winter. You can birdwatch from your car or hit the trails around the Welcome Center. Note that the cabin is not directly on a lake, but McCarthy Beach State Park is very close, and has great amenities.
  • Margo is a great host and the cabin is a great place to relax and in a scenic location! Love the pine trees!

    Tricia2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a relaxing place. A home away from home. We had such a great time and enjoyed exploring that area on our snowmobiles.

    Sarah2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful Northwoods get away. Margo was great in getting back to us when we had questions. Even though we do a good job at bringing what we need, if we did forget anything, I'm sure she had it there! The cabin was clean, warm, and inviting when we arrived. The fireplace in the sunroom welcomed us to sit, relax, and take in the beautiful view. It was also the place to wake up, and enjoy that morning coffee. It was easy access to snowmobile trails, and come back and grill some steaks outside on the charcoal grill. We had such a good time, and hope to make it back. I highly recommend this cabin! Ward and Crystal

    Crystal2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great winter get away! Our 4 year old son loved “the cabin”. It had such a cozy feel. The fireplace was my favorite for morning coffee, reading a book, and evening hot chocolates! The kitchen was full of everything a family would need! Since the fire pit was covered by many feet of snow, our host, very last minute, was able to supply us with a portable fire pit where we could roast hot dogs and s’mores out in the snow! Such a wonderful place, and host. Would highly recommend!

  • This was a great space with a beautiful view. This is the perfect place to stay if you want to stay inside and relax or get out and enjoy what nature has to offer. Margo put a lot of thought into making sure we would have everything we might need during our stay. I would definitely recommend it!

Come take a load off at the “Riverview cottage.” Nestled in the small northern town of Side lake Minnesota, this cottage is certain to impress! This cozy woodland getaway is equipped with a full sized kitchen, indoor plumbing, fire pit, grill and sleeping arrangements for six guests.
You’ll be within walking distance to two phenomenal restaurant/bars, as well as a homestyle convenience store with some of the best ice cream in the northland! The kids can enjoy the park at the nearby Rec Center, too! Take a dip at McCarthy Beach State Park, which is only a mile away. Although not on the lake, guests can land their boat at the local boat landing, which allows public access to a chain of five lakes. Don’t forget your fishing pole because these waters contain northern pike, walleye and panfish. Connected to the state snowmobile trail with cross-country skiing, the Riverview Cottage will be your home away from home all year round. Did I mention there is a view of the Sturgeon River out of the backyard—don’t wait book now. Side Lake, MN, offers a 4-Season Vacation Experience, including, but not limited to; Cross Country Ski Trails, Fishing, Bike Trails, McCarthy Beach, Hunting, Taconite Snowmobile Trail
  • We stayed February 14, 15 & 16, 2020 This was absolutely the perfect location for my husband and I to stay and get some snowmobile trail riding in. The cabin’s location set us within short riding distance of endless miles of state and grant-in-aid trails. We could leave right from the cabin on our sled! My favorite trails were the trail through McCarthy Beach State Park and the Taconite Trail heading north to Lake Vermillion. There was so much snow! We arrived to a plowed driveway with plenty of room for our truck and trailer, the sidewalks were all shoveled and there were valentine treats left for us by the host. The cabin had a nice entry way with 2 large benches and plenty of coat hooks where we could keep all of our riding gear; helmets, jackets, bibs, etc. We spent our days riding and our nights at the warm and cozy little cabin where we felt so at home. I like to cook and the kitchen provided all the kitchenware needed. The water was so delicious! I know that might sound crazy to some, but I drink a lot of water at home and at work and the water here was so cold, crisp and wonderful compared to our own well water at home. I was a bit worried it would have that iron taste to it because the cabin was near ore country, so I brought my own water just in case – there was no need for it! I would highly recommend this cabin for a winter get away. The hosts are fantastic!

    Mary2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Older whole house that has all the accommodations as described. Close to a local small general store and gas stop! Also several bar/restaurants nearby. Lakes near for summer and winter activities! Great place to country living and recreation! Ed

  • This cottage was perfect! It was very clean and had everything a person would need to cook and more. The beds were extremely comfortable along with the furniture. The hosts were super accommodating and responded very quickly. We look forward to staying again in the future.

  • My wife and I stayed during a business trip. She commented that a lot of thought went into decorating this home. Especially enjoyed the warmth of not only the furnace on cool mornings, but the fine crafts and thought that went into every detail to make this feel like home. If we’re back in the area, we’ll definitely request this place again!

    Titus2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a quiet place, yet close enough to restaurants, stores and area activities, that is the place. The beds were very comfortable, we had everything we needed and the hosts were available and replied in a timely manner.

  • Austin and Amanda have very thoughtfully created a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. Knowing we were coming with children, they provided many toys and activities to keep our two entertained. Their patio and fire pit areas are a real treat. It was so nice to sit outside and enjoy fall. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful and we can’t wait to come back!

    Rachel2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely recommend this cabin for anyone looking to relax in style! The place felt like a true home for a week and had plenty of extra goodies set aside for us! Can’t get enough of the fun recommendations from around town. We didn’t want to leave after such a beautiful stay!

    Payton2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was our very first Airbnb experience, and it WWWAAAAYYYY exceeded our expectations! The communication was excellent, even the couple of small questions were answered promptly. When we arrived, we immediately felt welcomed. The cabin was cozy, quaint, modern, and very clean. There were a bunch of small touches that we appreciated. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for any better!!

My place is in the woods filled with wildlife. You’ll love the location, just off the highway to be out of the way, down a short dirt road but close enough to town for all the amenities. The views are spectacular in every season. I try and have a place of quiet and solitude. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
The house sits on 40 acres of wooded land, very private and serene. Access to hiking trails, access to the state snowmobile trails, 21 miles of groomed cross country ski trails just six miles away, ATV trails that go all over the county and access to many lakes and sightseeing activities.
There is access to surrounding lakes and rivers, hiking, biking and ATV trails. State forest access right across the road and very few neighbors.

  • If you’re looking for a classic Minnesota cabin to get together with family in, this place has it all! The cabin itself is very comfortable and beautiful. My family of 10 adults, a toddler and an infant were very comfortable in the space. All of the water toys, the wood fire sauna, and the pontoon were great. Thank you, Laurie and family! We would love to come back again!

  • Beautiful cabin! So homey and cozy. Very close to the lake. We loved watching the swans on the lake! The loft was perfect for our little boys. Appreciated the supply of games and puzzles. Lots of table space. Very remote location, but that also adds to the experience.

  • We loved our stay! It was the perfect little cabin for a weekend getaway! Everyone raved about how perfect the cabin was inside and out! Even with 8 people we never felt crunched and were surprised how spacious it was inside. The cabin had everything we needed, including a coffee pot, plenty of towels to shower or swim, and adorable red Adirondack chairs for relaxing around the fire or enjoying the lake views! We will definitely stay here again. Thanks so much for a much needed relaxing weekend in the North woods!

  • Such a cute and clean cabin! Lots of sleeping space. Lots of amenities: Games, movies, toys, fans and nightlights for bedrooms, big bathroom, stools for kiddos. Lots to do outside right by the lake. We stayed in the winter and had a blast playing in the snow and on the frozen water. Also went to the Forest History Center in Grand Rapids. Perfect place for families.

  • A quiet, peaceful place, far from the cities where you can see the Milky Way at night, hear the loons, wake up to birdsong . You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, but if you need anything Virginia is 15-20 minutes away with a Super One, Target, Aldi, whatever you need. The cabin has everything you need, full kitchen, tons of games, my kids spent a ton of time on the paddle boat. Great spot!

    Dori2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a classic cabin on a lake, this is it! All the amenities one could want, and fishing from the paddleboat was fun and productive! We'll be going back sometime in the future.

    Eveleth, MN, United States

Refurbished, year-round lake home with knotty pine interior throughout on 25 acres of Minnesota woods and 600 feet of lake frontage, with about 100 feet of solid sand bottom at the dock area. Perfect for families, couples, honeymooners, girls/guys weekends, fishing/hunting groups, snowmobilers, groups of friends, a place for families to stay for out-of-town events or tournaments, etc. at any time of the year.
MAIN LEVEL: The main level has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a full kitchen, a dining area with oak table and seating for 6, a living room with a couch, loveseat, lounge chair, rocking chair and wood-burning stove, and two sets of double doors that open to a fully screened-in porch with additional table and chairs for 4 for outdoor dining. All kitchen utensils, linens and cooking/baking supplies are provided and there is also a high chair and booster seat available. LOWER LEVEL: the lower level has 1 additional bathroom, a dining/gaming table with 4 chairs, another living room with a flat-screen TV, another pair of double-doors that open to an outdoor patio, and a laundry/storage room with washer and dryer and plenty of storage for outdoor items and clothing, including snowmobiling gear. BEDROOMS: There are 3 bedrooms, each that sleep two, plus comfortable sleeping arrangements for 3 additional guests downstairs - 2 on a double size futon-style couch and 1 on a single-size rollaway bed. There is also a Graco brand pack-n-play portable crib for a small child/infant. All bedroom linens (sheets, blankets, pillows, etc.) are provided, including an extra set of sheets for all beds. LAKESIDE: The Hideaway has a separate lakeside area just a few hundred feet from the cabin that has a private dock, sand bottom shoreline for swimming, fully screened-in gazebo with electricity, table and 6 chairs, fish cleaning table, many life jackets, a 17' Grumman aluminum canoe, and a 2-person paddle boat. And for an additional small fee, the unlimited use of a 14' Lund fishing boat with 9HP Honda motor (includes 1 full tank of mixed gas). Wasson Lake does not have a public access, and there is also not access point on the property to launch a watercraft. PETS: For an additional fee per stay, dogs are allowed, but a max of 2. For your convenience, we provide feeding dishes and bags. Please do not leave your dog alone and unattended in the cabin or anywhere on the property. FISHING: Wasson Lake is approximately 500 acres in size and spring fed. Per the MN DNR site it has 17 feet of clarity with a maximum depth of 67 feet. With 4 islands and numerous bays, it provides for an ideal fish habitat. The lake has northern pike, perch, large and small mouth bass, rock bass, crappies, and other panfish like bluegill and sunfish. The nearby Scenic Pines Store just 2 miles away sells bait, tackle as well as gas (if you choose to use the boat and need to purchase more). HUNTING: We do not allow hunting on the 25-acre property itself. However, hunting groups are welcome as there are thousands of acres of huntable government, public land all over the area. Here are some websites with some area hunting and fishing information: http://www.visitgrandrapids.com/things-to-do/hunting/ http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/hunting/tips/locations.html SNOWMOBILING: Snowmobilers welcome !!! In the wintertime, enjoy exploring the hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails that Itasca County and northern MN have to offer. An extension to the nearby groomed Herb Brandstrom Trail was just added a couple years ago and practically goes right to the cabin as it starts just a few hundred feet from the driveway. The local Swampsiders Snowmobile Club is also just 3 miles down the road. See the following Itasca County Snowmobiling site for more information and maps: https://www.co.itasca.mn.us/279/Snowmobile-Trails 25 ACRES: Much of the forest around Wasson Lake is second and third growth and was very old and dying. Thus, a few years ago the previous owners underwent an overdue project of forest stewardship by selectively harvesting overgrown poplar, birch and aspen trees while planting over 4,000 new red pine, white pine and various types of hardwoods. So within a few short years, we will start to see a beautiful new forest begin to emerge. In fact, the pine trees are already getting to 4-6 feet tall. The property is bordered by the lake to east, another cabin to the south, and roads to the west and north, so we invite you to take a peaceful walk in the woods or down the driveway and road to take in all the peace, quiet, beauty and tranquility the property and surrounding area has to offer.
Lots of recreational and outdoor activities: snowmobiling, downhill and cross country skiing, tubing, snowboarding, fishing/ice fishing, snowshoeing, hiking, hunting (not allowed on property), etc. Lots of shopping, events and other activities in nearby Bigfork, Grand Rapids and the many other towns up and down the Iron Range.

Casa de Boracay is located in highly sought-after Side Lake, MN. Beach loungers along the 300 feet of white-powder sand beach beg you to relax in the sun and breeze. Take in the the rays, fish from the dock, watch local bald eagles soar, nap under the umbrellas & roast marshmallows on the fire. Intricate knotty pine ceilings are indicative of the north woods, but modern amenities save time for fun in the sun. You'll stay 30 feet from the water ensuring memories for you and your family!
The main cabin houses 1 bedroom with queen bed; kitchen with dining table, microwave, fridge, electric stove and oven, coffee machine, blenders and more; bathroom with toilet and shower, and living room. Off the cabin is a large weathered deck that has seen better days. There you will find the gas grill and two tables to seat 10 for an outdoor meal. The lawn sprawls out for games, but the true place to be is on the beach. 6 padded loungers, and short beach furniture offer the perfect place for water fun and beautiful sunsets. 300 feet of white powder sand shore is the perfect place for young and old to enjoy the shallow water depth for a distance. The lake is home to great fishing for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleyes and northerns. The bunk room off the separate garage sleeps 8 with two single-bed bunks, 1 queen bed, and one pullout queen bed. The room is quite large to minimize bumping into one another. Microwave and mini fridge are provided in that space. Just a short 5-minute drive to local hot-spot restaurants and bars, Bimbo's Octagon and The Riverside Inn, not to mention the new Side Lake Lounge!
Side Lake, MN is comprised of 6 lakes, big and small. Some of the lakes are also connected via channels. Our cabin is not located on this chain which is why we believe our area is quieter and cleaner. The clear water invites you to enjoy boating (with your personal watercraft), water skiing, swimming, tubing, sunbathing, and simply napping away in the breeze. Our shore is ideal for families with younger children because the water is shallow for quite a distance. The sand is great for sandcastles! Located nearby are 3 restaurants, 2 gas stations, and the beautiful McCarthy Beach State Park. In fact, our cabin is located adjacent to miles of hiking, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross country skiing trails on the park and beyond. Additionally, ATV trails that cover all parts of northern Minnesota can be accessed a half a mile from our door.
  • All I can say was this place was perfect and had all the amenities we needed for our family get together. The place was very clean and plenty of room to fit my family of 10! The beach area was fantastic! It felt like we were on a resort! Everything was more than I excepted! Would recommend this place to friends! Wish we had stayed a little longer! Thank you Antone!

  • A northwoods cabin with a dash of luxury and modern amenities. Lots of space and privacy. Although not connected to the lake chain towards the west, it actually means a much quieter spot. I think this is the nicest setup I've seen in northern MN. Would highly recommend!

  • Myrna is upgrading an older building in the center of Nashwauk, and we found her to be friendly and enthusiastic. Her suggestions about where to go and eat were spot on. This is a single person room, in a Lodging House. There may be a few other guests staying in other rooms so we ask you to use common courtesy as there are some shared spaces. This large old brick and mortar building used to be a first National Bank. Now it’s a quaintly decorated lodging establishment, great for students or if you need a cheap place to stay for interim work, or if your just in the area for awhile. I have been hosting on Airbnb for a few years and this is my favorite house.
Jasmin’s Place is right in the center of small town Americana. This is Nashwauk Lodging’s flagship establishment. The charm of the remodeling project was to bring about comfortable rooms and interesting common spaces. There’s an old vault with bar and chairs, we revamped the lobby into a nice social area for guests to relax after the days activities.
Nashwauk is a blue collar town with a nice little business district. There’s an iron ore mine observation site, restaurants, bars, grocery store, liquor store, a bank, post office, all within convenient walking distance.

  • I really enjoyed the stay here! Myrna met up with me as I let her know what time I was arriving. She was flexible and gave me the tour. Jimbos Bunkhouse is a huge house that featured kitchen, laundry (soap provided) and a living room with satellite television. I thoroughly enjoyed the place. I stayed here when there were no other guests, but I am sure the room I had would have allowed plenty of privacy.

  • The children loved the fine sand on the beach and the clear lake water, and the summer kitchen was amazing! This place has lots of charm and is well furnished. The road was a little close, but the host is in the process of getting more privacy put up. We especially enjoyed watching the moon coming up over the water and listening to the loons! Was a great place to relax!

  • We loved this place! It’s a perfect set-up from the various cabins for multi-family use, the outdoor kitchen (amazing!) and the beautiful outdoors...we couldn’t have asked for a better place. The lake is a great fishing lake and we skied and tubed as well - hardly any lake traffic. We felt like we had a private lake! Bob and Connie are very accommodating and great hosts. We would definitely come back again.

  • This place was awesome! With 15 adults 9 kids and 2 babies, I was worried we would be super cramped. Turns out we all had plenty of room between the 3 separate houses and the kitchen/serving building. It's perfect for a large groups who want to be close but not too close. Pretty much had the lake to ourselves as I only saw 1 or 2 boats the whole time we were there . We rented jet skis from Grand Rapids, dropped them in from the public access less than a mile from the place and had a blast. The kids loved the paddle boat and the canoe Bob and Connie provided and playing in the sandy beach was a also a huge hit. I'll definitely keep this place in mind for future trips, I'd rent it again in a heart beat.

  • The place was very large and spread out which was great for a big group. We spent most of our morning and evening time around the large fire pit and outdoor kitchen “hut.” The griddle top in there was great for cooking large meals like burgers and brats. All the cabins were clean and comfortable.

  • This was a great place for our very large group. Bob answered our many questions quickly and helpfully and was ready for us early on our arrival day. The cabins, which he built, are lovely. The adults were comfortable, and the kids had a wonderful time free ranging and building a secret fort in the adjacent woods. Amazing beach with nice attention to details from the hosts—beach toys, inner tubes, and an extra towel per person we’re provided in addition to the possibility of renting a pontoon. The outdoor kitchen with a large cast iron griddle built in is a wonderful touch as well. Very nice!

  • Absolutely wonderful. We are a large family and we were taking our first family vacation ever. Couldn't have asked for a better place.. Never cooked in the cabins or house, we used the outdoor kitchen. Nice quiet lake, with lots of fishing and boating..
