“Mendon Ponds Park is the largest Monroe County Park with 2,500 acres of woodlands, ponds, wetlands and glacially created landforms. While hiking through, you will likely find yourself atop a winding hill, referred to as an Esker in geological terms. You can look for Kames as you go along (small mounds/hills) and check out Devil's Bathtub, which is a Kettle Pond. Visit the Wild Wings Nature Center to see birds and other local animals being rehabilitated. While you're there you can buy birdseed to hand-feed local Chikadees, NutHatches, and the Tufted TitMouse.”

“Visit the Wild Wings Nature Center inside Mendon Ponds Park to rent snow shoes, buy bird seed for hand feeding, and visit with their 29 birds of prey that have been permanently injured, and are unable to be reintroduced into the wild. They also have Tara, the North American bobcat. Dress appropriately as the center is outdoors. While you're there you can hand-feed local Chikadees, NutHatches, and the Tufted Titmouse along nearby trails. ”

“Peppermints is a classic diner very close to the Thru-Way. The prices are slightly on the higher side, but the food is consistently good and the service is great. You'll have coffee within a few minutes of being seated, and a refill on the way! They have a fantastic selection of tea available as well - Kelly's favorite is the peppermint ginseng. ”

“25 minutes away. Tinker Nature Park has family friendly hiking trails that wind through green scenery and woods. As you near the end you enter a magical path that is lined with fairy houses. It is a hidden gem in the Rochester area and is a must visit for anyone visiting the area. It offers a 1.2 mile hike that passes through a boardwalk surrounded by cotton tails and a pond, a nature center, a Touch Trail, a marsh, and the fairy trail. If you are looking for things to do in Rochester, NY with kids it is a perfect mix of nature and family time.”
