Just booked in Hemingford Grey

A quaint thatched cottage in the owner's front garden, offering complete privacy for two people with en-suite shower and toilet, TV microwave and free Wifi access. Located in the quintessentially English village of Elsworth just 8 miles from Cambridge.
The thatched cottage is situated in our front garden but fenced off from the main garden and house. It is a small thatched building with two single beds and the photos show all of the space. If you have a large suitcase this will need to be left upright or squeezed under the bed. It is full of character complete with exposed beams and just perfect for a weekend get away. We are in a quiet street within the heart of the village and set back from the road. Access to the house is via a footbridge across a brook. Parking is quite limited as this is an old area of the village and it is the access route for a farm at the other end of the road. You should be able to park in the layby on the left and opposite the footbridge. This is just after the bend to the left in the road. If you have trouble when you arrive, just call (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) which is more reliable and we can help you.
Elsworth is a lovely English village with an 11th century church, two pubs-one of them thatched-and a community run shop. The Poacher is just around the corner and if you would like to book for dinner then you can ring 01964 268167 The cottage itself, like our house, was reportedly built in the late 17th century and used to be a tailor's shop.
  • A really lovely cottage which was spotlessly clean. Lovely thoughtful touches like the flask of fresh milk, shower gel, shampoo and tea, coffee and biscuits. Breakfast was personalised and good quality. Communication was first class and nothing was too much trouble!

  • Really lovely little cottage, super cute. The type of cottage to have a mug of hot chocolate in - bring your own (tea and coffee provided), and if you're spending any length of time in the room, bring warm socks (cold floor). No noise at night. We arrived in a taxi late at night (access easily sorted late), but it would be worth clarifying with Sonia exactly where the property is on the road - it isn't easy to find in the dark with an impatient taxi - eventually we noticed the light on, but a description would be helpful. Really lovely stay, I'm really glad we went there rather than a chain hotel.

  • Everything was perfect! We had a really excellent stay in the Little Cottage and Elsworth is such an idyllic English village. I only live 50 minutes drive away, but it felt like another world. Sonia, Tim's wife handled the booking and she was a delight throughout. The cottage is exactly as described and I can't recommend it highly enough. I can recommend 'The Poacher' pub in the village which was really lovely. We had dinner and drinks there.

  • Brilliant individual hideaway

    Charles 2017-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at the cottage. It is a really peaceful and scenic village, with a lovely little pub nearby. The cottage was really cute and had all the amenities we could want.

    Frøya2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sonia was incredibly lovely and very flexible - we arrived late but she was extremely understanding. The little cottage is very charming and well-finished on the inside - having stayed in similar types of property before, we were really impressed by how warm it was kept and how modern the fittings were. Breakfast was fresh and a great way to start the day - really sorry we couldn't stay longer!

    Shaina2016-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage! Sonia was very friendly and tentative. The local pub the poacher was also very welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return if in the area.

A working smallholder farm.. We have 3 rooms each able to take 3 people. If you need more space please check out other listings - with the same front photo The room has 2 single beds, the 3rd bed pulls put between the other 2. It is a mattress on the floor, suitable for a child or smaller adult, suitable if you only need the room to sleep in while you explore the area. Farm animals plus outdoor dogs live here. Maybe unsuitable for anyone allergic to animals.
We are very relaxed about sharing our home with guests. You are encouraged to make yourself at home. We are quite often working just out on the farm, so you will have the house to yourself for most of the time. If you need us, we are just a phone call away.
Cullum Farm is the first house on the main road leading to St Ives from the A14 - front and back views are to open farmland.
  • Great little farm stay! Lovely friendly family home! Comfortable bedding and living within cycling distance of St Ives and great links to Cambridge. I would recommend to anyone that likes a relaxing and rural settling.

    Nick 2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Really warm welcome, inspiring rural neighbourhood & naturally friendly hosts. The place is a working farm with so many interesting people passing through, life affirming & replenishing atmosphere. Very relaxing place to stay & plenty of deep sleep to refresh the soul. A great way for planning the day ahead in nearby Cambridge & surrounding area. If only I had more time to venture. A proper vacation!

    Jamie2016-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and two friends stayed for a night in December. This is a great place, situated on a farm. Felt very welcome and the beds were comfy!

    Amy2016-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • I wanted a quite place to get away from London and Cullum Farm felt like a home away from home. I had my own entrance code so I was able to come and go as I pleased. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and tidy. Getting into the bed I couldn't believe the sheets had been ironed! The kitchen facilities were good with nice fresh eggs for breakfast. The rest of the farm is exactly as a farm should be. The farm starts early in the morning with animal feeding, which I was fortunate to join in with and even cuddled a little piglet. Leanne and family were very welcoming and friendly. A wonderful getaway which I can't wait to return to and cannot recommend highly enough.

  • A surprisingly quiet stay just off the London Road in Hemingford Gray. Good breakfast options and low stress regulations. Wonderful host with interesting stories to tell.

    David and Judi2017-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Leanne was a great host. She was very friendly and helpful and has a nice, warm safe house. I would recommend Leanne’s house to other travelers and would stay again if I was in the area.

    Tom2017-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Pleasant stay,- thank you very much

    Phillipa2017-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Leanne's place. They did everything to make our stay wonderful. The communication was really easy! All the family enjoyed the weekend. The only little inconvenient is that it's next to a main road and some people might feel annoyed by the cars passing by (depending on your sensibility). It's well located for those who want to visit Cambridge. Anyway we would recommend this place if you enjoy meeting lovely and passionate people!

  • Marianne's house is an absolutely jaw dropping, beautiful place to stay; full of character and charm. Staying here was a rare treat and we savoured every minute. The house is very well equipped with a modern kitchen, lovely furnishings and absolutely everything a traveller would need. Communication with Marianne was great even before we were due to arrive - so it felt more like we were going to stay at a friends house. Check in was simple with easy instructions. There was a welcome book with information about the house, local area/restaurants/shops and pubs. if you have the opportunity definitely go stay here; Marianne was a fantastic host, leaving us supplies in the fridge including butter and milk, local bread, flowers, wine and chocolates which made us feel very, very welcome and special. Can't wait to head back!

    Julie2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous cottage, in an equally gorgeous location. Very clean with great amenities. The host left us a bottle of wine and chocolates, which was a lovely touch. We will definitely be staying again!!

    Lucy2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Mariannes cottage is very charming and very close to a farm shop, a nice pub and a really good Indian restaurant. Marianne has gone over and above to provide many niceties, both in the bathroom and the kitchen. We enjoyed wine and cheese in the garden and cozy evenings in the parlor. Beds were super comfy and bed linens were first class.

    Brian2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Marianna and Jonathon. What an amazing time we've had. Fabulous, quaint, beautiful cottage. Loved all the extra touches, wine, bread & condiments etc. Chilling in your lounge with an open fire in an inglenook fireplace was just what we needed. Will definitely be back next year and staying longer. Nic and friends xx

    Nicola2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very special and impressive house! We just loved it and would like to come back for a longer stay!

    Yan2017-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • A really stylish, well furnished cottage. Ideal for a cosy winter break but equally the garden would be beautiful in summer or spring.

    Richard2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fab stay at Marianna's cottage. She couldn't have been a better host. Cottage was absolutely spotlessly clean and in lovely quiet location near Cambridge and St Ives. We were left wine and homemade blackberry crumble which was welcome after a long day sightseeing in Cambridge and the surrounding villages. The bed is extremely comfortable as well. Cottage is exactly as pictured and Marianna was a great communicator. We are definitely going to stay again.

    Jen2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • This charming cottage is even better than it seems in the online photos! Everything was super clean and/or brand new. Comfortable, quiet and easy to find - I wish we could have stayed longer. Would whole-heartedly recommend for a visit to Cambridge and the surrounding countryside.

  • A wonderful warm welcome by Christine and Steve. The room and bathroom were absolutely spotless. The bed super comfortable and lots of thoughtful touches throughout. We declined Christine’s kind offer of breakfast but we did have some top quality coffee in the morning. We really enjoyed staying here, meeting Christine and Steve and also the lovely Lottie - a very sweet cockapoo puppy. Highly recommended.

  • We had good time there. Experience in floating house was really a something! Kind host, good view, quiet place.

    Bora2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • The location is amazing, a unique style of building - a pontoon house - actually on a marina. It meant that our family could pick us up from a boat the next morning! There was a lovely wood-burning stove and a roof terrace which would be great for anyone staying in sunny weather. Our host was friendly and gave us a tour of the local pretty villages. We would stay again.

    Fabienne 2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Well the Host is a great guy and was always on hand, we had major issues with the boiler stopping on both of my trips to this property. Meaning that half way through my stay I had to leave and check into a hotel very last minute costing me a lot more money. The host was great in dealing with the situation on both occasions but the boiler needed a specialist who could only come out over the weekends meaning I had no heating or hot water.

    Jacky2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely floating mobile home! Clean, peaceful attractive location at the marina and very cosy. The shower was nice and hot. The location was so quiet I had a brilliant night's sleep. Loved the roof terrace, especially good for summer. The local restaurant is basically like a posh Burger King.

We have a lovely 2 bedroom house in the small market town of St Ives in Cambridgeshire. We are very well placed for access to the centre of town (5min walk) as well as close to the guided bus station for links to Cambridge and Huntingdon. St Ives has lots of nice cafes, pubs and restaurants as well as plenty of shops. There are lots of nearby nice walks. We are looking for people who will look after our house as they would their own. Well behaved, quiet pets are welcome
2 bedrooms, each with a double bed (non-lockable doors). Linen and towels provided. Fully equipped kitchen. Single bathroom with toilet, sink, shower and bath. Living room with fully functional wood burning stove. Conservatory/dining room that opens out onto the back garden and patio
Generally quiet, family neighbourhood. Corner shop across the street sells essentials, town in wlaking distance, small Tescos supermarket also in walking distance
  • We had a lovely stay. The house was very homely and well equipped. Perfect location (we lived in St Ives so knew the area), it was a special trip for our sons 1st Birthday and we couldnt ask for more. Loved all the books and had fun with the nerf guns. We would highly reccomend and would certainly return.

  • We had a perfect weekend in Ben's lovely St. Ives home. The house was spotless and really homely, we felt comfortable straight away! We loved all of the little notes and extra touches, including small things like extra food/drinks and towels etc. The beds were all extremely comfortable. The communication with Ben was clear and quick from the start and even when we had to make a slight change to our booking he was very understanding. All the information about the property was clear, both on the website and then given around the house too. There was also lots of information provided about the local area and amenities too which was useful. We cannot fault this accommodation at all, thank you Ben!

  • Val's home is wonderfully welcoming and cosy and I love staying there. The bedroom has a gorgeous scent and the bed is super comfortable but it is all the small touch that wins me over from crisp bed linens, soft towels and flowery shower gel to the handy desk, wardrobe and great mirror or multi plugs! The room feels big and is so quiet that it is nice to get home after a long day's work when I am at my work HQ. The bathroom has a new and modern design and the kitchen is well equipped. But mainly Val makes you feel home, she is really helpful, accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend her lovely room. I am definitely coming back! Nicole

This is the quiet end of Huntingdon, low rise winding roads with bungalows and pretty gardens. Our bungalow is off the main road and the Chalet is at the end of the garden. It is totally private and not overlooked.
  • Thelmas home is lovely and the grounds are beautiful. The decking needs replacement, but the home was like a little home away from home. It is compact, but nicely appointed and warm. Our two girls were welcomed with treats and we were welcomed with breakfast items and a light left on for our late arrival, due to mechanical issues. Thelma checked on us to be sure we were doing well in our travels and was very respectful of our privacy. A lovely stay, very good value.

    Heather2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Orchard Chalet was a great place to stay. The bed and linens were comfortable, the kitchen generously stocked with a selection of breakfast cereals, eggs, milk, tea/coffee/hot chocolate, bread, and jam. The lounge too was comfortable and well-furnished and the bathroom was pristine. Thelma and Avi were gracious hosts and provided a travel cot for our baby and linens to make up the sofa bed for our older child. The heating was on when we arrived, so the cottage was cosy and welcoming on a chilly evening. The space was compact but we had plenty of room as a family of four. Plus, the hosts’ two dogs were friendly and a delight for our kids. We would happily stay here again.

  • Just come back after a weekend at The Orchard Chalet. We arrived on Friday evening and were greeted by Thelma and Avi. We happily saw there was fresh milk in the fridge for a cup of tea, breakfast items and some snacks. The whole space is warm, comfortable, welcoming and spotlessly clean. The lounge was perfect and nice to have a separate space to relax in. The shower was hot and stocked with toiletries. Despite the freezing cold outside, the chalet was beautifully warm. Lastly, neither of us wanted to get up in the morning because the bed was so comfortable and the duvet super snuggly! Thank you for providing such a lovely space.

  • My brother and I were meeting up for a weekend of walking and geocaching in Cambridgeshire. Thelma's place was perfect for us. There was a fully equipped kitchen and Thelma had kindly left some items for us (the milk made perfect cups of tea). A very comfortable spot to stay with just a short drive to the cinema and restaurants for evening entertainment.

    clare2017-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable little cabin which is ideal for a stay whilst visiting the area. It contains everything you need and offers privacy plus an area to sit outside and enjoy a relaxing drink. Will definitely return, thank you Thelma.

  • Good location. Nice space for car parking. Key box allowed us to get in easily on arrival. Lovely chalet, much bigger than expected. One large double bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. There were three of us and there was plenty of room, but would be perfect for a couple. Lots of lovely goodies left for us in the fridge and kitchen for breakfast, a very big TV and good WiFi. Very quiet area. Lovely walk through riverside park into town. Good shower. Comfy sofa bed, if there are three of you. Nice private area to sit outdoors. Friendly and helpful hosts. Highly recommend The Orchard Chalet.

  • I would highly recommend this place , especially if you are a windsurfer contemplating a cold night in a tent at nearby Grafham Water. Great location and fantastic host who was ever so helpful.I would defiantly stay again.

A working smallholder farm. We have 3 rooms each able to take 3 people. If you need more space please check out other listings - they all have the same front photo. This room has 1 double bed as shown in the photo. The 2nd bed is a sofa bed. There is a possibility of a 3rd bed but it is a tight squeeze, suitable if you only need the room to sleep in while you explore the area.
Cullum Farm is the first house on the main road leading to St Ives from the A14 - front and back views are to open farmland
  • Yes it is a working farm with animals and you can see them very close! The house was very clean and everything for breakfast in the kitchen, very tasty eggs!

    Stephan2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the 3-persons room with 4 (2 adults and 2 little kids). It was a little bit small, but we managed. We were only there for sleeping anyway :) The kids got to see the pigs, horses, dogs, chickens and loved it. And we got to eat the fresh eggs for breakfast!

  • If you would like an amazing host who knows the area intimately, hands on experience of what it is like to run a farm and a breakfast of champions - this is the place to go. A really great place to stay in the area - particularly if you have children who love animals as we do.

  • Leanne's place is certainly a working farm!. She is very friendly, provides good value and we all slept well. Special thanks to her for finding a solution for my mother who was a very last minute unexpected guest. Recommended.

    Nigel2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here during two months and I enjoyed a lot my trip. Leanne is really welcoming, always want to help you, give you all you need and really open minded. Also, if you like animals you will be charmed by horses, chickens, pigs,... Good restaurants and pubs around the farm and really close to Cambridge. I recommend anyone to spend time in this lovely house.

    Ray2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Leanne was super friendly and I received the most detailed information for checkin ever. At the end of the stay we even took home some home made sausages that tasted very good.

  • This was our second stay at The Annex at the Cedars, and it was just as excellent as the first stay! Tina is a fantastic host, and the Annex is a great place to stay. We especially appreciated the extremely comfortable environs after staying in a few other places between our visits.

  • The Annexe At The Cedar is a wonderful place to stay in the rural village of Houghton in Cambridgeshire. Tina is a great host with superb communication and flexibility. She made my girlfriend and I feel very welcome during our 3 night stay. Tina is attentive but understands the importance of privacy. It was so sweet that she provided us with some croissants and other bits in the fridge for when we arrived. The private and separate Annexe is extremely cosy. As you walk in you feel the real sense of homeliness and care Tina has put into the property. As you walk up the stairs you are taken away by the shape of he ceilings as your bedroom window looks out onto the countryside. Thank you again Tina. Best, Moz and Sel.

    Moz2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • The Annex is a true gem. We were two adults and one small dog who stayed for a week while house-hunting in the area. We couldn't have been more pleased. The Annex is finely appointed and The Cedars (and the entire Lane) is stunning itself- we felt it was luxury within luxury. Tina is an excellent hostess. The Annex was well set when we arrived with toiletries, linens, and even basic breakfast items, so there was no real need to ask for anything, but when we did Tina was quickly responsive to our needs. Throughout she was very respectful of our space, and the situation of the Annex to the Cedars felt quite private. It is perfectly situated for a number of great walks in the country or to the neighboring town of St. Ives, and it is also a short jog from two pubs- all of which we enjoyed very much. We loved the Annex and hope to visit again!

  • Lovely cosy place to stay. Very new I think? and clean. Enjoyable couple of days with the pod as a base!

  • My stay at The Sunken Garden Retreat was an absolute delight! I booked in for a couple of days to concentrate on my writing - somewhere quiet with few interruptions: I was not disappointed! Do not be deceived by its size - this bijou garden studio has all you need for a relaxed break, either to escape the busyness of modern life - or as a convenient stopover within easy reach of Cambridge and the surrounding Huntingdonshire districts (just 60 mins to London from Huntingdon Rail Station). Although compact, this accommodation is very comfortable, with an excellent quality mattress, good temperature control (3 sources of heating!), a lovely, well equipped kitchenette, and a decent ensuite bathroom. Although I didn't meet Rebecca (away on business), Marc was an excellent host - exceedingly friendly and helpful. I, for one, will definitely be returning when I need to escape again - and I would highly recommend this to others looking for great value, quality, self-catering accommodation.

    Denise2017-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great, friendly welcome from Rebecca, comfy, clean and well equipped accommodation, great for a short stay in the area. Detailed welcome instructions and clear signposting. One for the list next time I'm around!

  • Really enjoyed our stay with Rebecca. The Garden Retreat is like the Tardis - everything you could want for a few day's stay all in a small package - great! Comfy bed and quiet location. Rebecca very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely stay again.

    Mike2017-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca is a fantastic host and made my very first Airbnb experience very chilled and peaceful. The retreat pod is a cozy, clean and very modern studio style accommodation with a comfy fold out sofa bed, mini kitchen area with fridge, cooker, a modern bathroom with shower, storage shelves, mirrors and ventilation window. There was coffee, tea bags, sugar in the cupboards and a jug of fresh milk in the fridge which were lovely thoughtful additions. The retreat is on an oats producing farm so there is a little noise during the day but all dies down by 5pm and is completely quiet and peaceful until the following morning. Only down point is a very poor phone network signal (Three Network) including mobile internet signal but all in all, a lovely peaceful getaway retreat.

    Michael2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Rebecca's place - it was cosy, clean and comfortable for two people. We particularly enjoyed Rebecca showing us around the farm and bought a few items from the farm shop. Would definitely recommend a weekend away there!

My Shepherd's Hut is ten miles from Cambridge city centre, with easy access to the A14 and the M11 which will take you directly to London in an hour. Set in our three acre garden, the Hut is luxurious & self-contained accommodation in which you can enjoy your locally-sourced free-range english breakfast, and venture out to explore Cambridge and the surrounding area. Quiet & dark at night with delightful country views during the day. Perfect for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers.
The Hut is set in our lovely garden with its own garden area, complete with outdoor seating, barbeque and fire pit in the summer. Croissants, bread, tea and coffee are provided as are all the ingredients for a cooked breakfast if you wish (there is a hob in the Hut). The Poacher, our charming, thatched pub, is less than five minutes walk away and there are plenty of good places nearby to eat and drink if you wish to stay local. We have a lovely Community Shop in the village if you wish to buy and cook your own supper rather than eat out. There are also two pubs, a hairdresser, and a family-run garage. Cambridge is the star attraction hereabouts, with all our beautiful and ancient city has to offer. Apart from the exquisite and historic Colleges, punting on the Cam and lots of quirky museums and Institutes, Cambridge boasts the Fitzwilliam Museum and lots of great restaurants, galleries, shops, two theatres and the Arts Picture House.
Elsworth village is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. We have a 1,000 year old church and the village is full of lovely thatched cottages. A brook runs through the picturesque centre. We have a thriving Community Shop selling good-quality basics (and some luxuries). There are two lovely pubs within easy walking distance of the Hut, and other good pubs and restaurants we'd also recommend within ten minutes' drive.
  • The first thing to say about Gaynor's place (the Shepherd's Hut) is that it is set in the expansive gardens of the main property, and it is BEAUTIFULLY APPOINTED. If you are into being pampered and you like tasteful decorations and furniture etc., you will not be disappointed. I do not normally drink alcohol, but I was so delighted with what was provided in the self-contained apartment in question (not just the complimentary wine bottle, mind you!), that I felt it would be in poor taste to not celebrate the occasion. The second thing to say about Gaynor's place is that I felt very welcomed by Gaynor and all of her family - so hospitable and classy at the same time. I love England and was struck at how quintessentially English and classy the experience was (in the best sense of the word). Gaynor is a fine host and a great ambassador for the best in English values. In short, she inspired me a great deal, on top of Cambridgeshire and Elsworth in themselves being inspiring places. I imagine that for many visitors, Elsworth will be a staging post for Cambridge and other nearby attractions. But I was delighted to ramble about Elsworth as well. Simply marvellous - if you love the English countryside and places with a great sense of history, you will not be disappointed! Highly recommended!!

  • A lovely, peaceful, safe place for anyone but particularly single ladies looking for some "time out". Returning to the Shepards Hut at the end of very long and stressful days at papworth hospital was wonderful . It felt like my sanctuary. Gaynor has got it all just right !

    Jane2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • The hut is so beautiful. It has everything you could possibly need. The bed is comfortable. There are local pubs in walking distance which serve food. Really lovely place to stay.

  • We had a fantastic two nights stay at Gaynor’s Shepherds Hut while on an impulse trip to Cambridgeshire. Gaynor has created a truly idyllic space and we were made to feel that all the added little touches had been personally created just for us. From the breakfast to the shower gel and even the hot water bottles, everything was perfect. I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a little bit of unique luxury in a sensational setting. Thank you Gaynor and Paul

  • A lovely weekend away in a tranquil location, a short drive from the park and ride to Cambridge city centre. Cosy and beautifully decorated, with a great selection for breakfast!

  • If you love getting away, we would highly recommend this little gem of a retreat. Rural sanctuary. The shepherds Hut is of high specification. Everything you require along with thought through welcome gifts and essentials. Incredibly comfortable and cosy. We dined at one of the local pubs, The Poacher. A 5 minute stroll at the most from the Hut. Gaynor our host gave us a warm welcome and we felt at home immediately. Well done Gaynor! Lovely little touches in the Hut - fresh eggs from the resident chickens, fresh orange juice, bacon and sausages in the fridge, croissants are just a few enjoyments. It may be February but it was mild enough to have breakfast sat outside. We will definitely be talking about the Hut to friends. Near enough to enjoy Cambridge but a perfectly peaceful stay Thanks (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) sonia and Clint

    Sonia2017-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Shepherds Hut exceeded expectations. Amazingly well thought out and like staying in a 5 star hotel room but with more character. Gaynor was fantastic from first communication and throughout my stay. I had to curtail my stay for work reasons which was disappointing. Thank you Gaynor for creating such a wonderful retreat space. I will definitely be back and highly recommend the Shepherds Hut :)

  • WOW. I loved it. The place is beautiful, a real place to retreat, to rest, to recharge. It was also a very good place to be productive! I enjoyed coming home every time! It was super clean, spacious, well e-quipped and the host are very flexible and will do everything to help you enjoy your stay! The entire family respected my space and made themselves available when I had a question or need of anything. The room was comfortable and a lot of rest and reflection were had! Thank you! Highly recommended!

  • Pear Tree Cottage is a great hideaway. We stayed here two nights, loved to sit out in the garden and enjoy the silence while sipping a wine and the following day have our breakfast. Sue's son made us feel welcome and comfortable. The cottage has everything one could need for a short or extended stay. Warboys is the village nearby and I could do all the shopping I needed there. Highly recommanded if you want to visit Cambridge and surroundings.

A gorgeous, recently renovated 1 bed annex set in the quaint English town of Godmanchester between Cambridge & Peterborough. Consisting of bedroom lounge & wet room, with Sofa bed providing additional sleeping if required. Perfect location, next door to local shop, pubs serving food, amazing chinese & minutes away from picturesque river Ouse.
Completely private facilities- away from main house. There are no kitchen facilities but we do provide tea & coffee facilities and have details of local takeaways and restaurants! We are right next door to a shop selling snacks/essentials and the pub (selling food and drink!!) and there are also local cafes that serve a good breakfast!
Godmanchester is a pretty community town with loads of local amenities! Fantastic food, places to drink, and beautiful scenery! That said- it's close by to Huntingdon for more mainstream shops and you can visit the historical cities of Cambridge or Peterborough within half an hour!
  • Everything was described accurately and we were made to feel very welcome.

  • We had a really lovely stay! Anna was really friendly and welcoming, and it was brilliant having our own key so we could come and go as we pleased. Such a treat having tea and coffee and toiletries too, a really nice extra touch! The place is spacious and perfect for two people, would highly recommend!

    Samantha2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Anna was extremely accommodating, all the amenities you would find in your own home, were found at Anna's annex. A hotel room is no comparison.

  • We booked to stay at short notice over New Year after we had to unexpectedly cancel a family holiday on boxing day! Anna was so friendly and the communication was quick and easy. The place was perfect and the bed was so comfortable! I would definitely recommend a stay here for a cosy, romantic weekend away.

    Laura2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The annex is really lovely, as is Anna who responded very quickly to any messages I sent. The check in/out process couldn't haven't been easier. A great stay by all accounts.

    Archie2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely one-night stay here. We were rehearsing music and wanted somewhere we wouldn't disturb anyone. The annexe is fully detached so it was great for that, and a beautifully converted little place. I was a bit worried I'd be cold, but the heaters were very effective. We'd love to go back.

Newly constructed and furnished town house within walking distance to Papworth Heart Hospital and all local amenities. Comfortable lounge with dining area and fully equipped kitchen. Off road parking space and Mediterranean style garden. Cambridge and other local towns easily reached by local bus or park/ride. Easy access to A1, A14 and M11.
The house is a three storey, three bedroom townhouse. With 3 large bedrooms, our home can accommodate 6 adults comfortably. The whole of the top floor is a spacious master bedroom with en suite. and the 2 first floor bedrooms share a 'Jack and Jill' bathroom. The house, furniture and fittings are all no more than two years old. Allocated parking is available off-road. The Mediterranean style garden offers an outside sitting area. The house is fully furnished and has everything necessary for up to six guests to eat, sleep and be merry.
The house is on a new development and is a five minute walk from Papworth Heart Hospital. Village amenities include a general store, Post Office, library, fish and chip shop, Indian Restaurant, café, pub and delicatessen all within walking distance.
  • The property was set in a new build estate and though finding it was a little tricky owing to outdated satnav maps we managed to do so with the assistance of the property managers who are some of the neighbours. Though nothing ws supplied for breakfast we did get some milk and a very well appointed house all to ourselves. The kitchen equipment was much more extensive than I imagined I would find and we could easily have cooked every day, but we ate out in some of the nearby villages and brought back a take out one evening from the local indian restaurant. It's located close but not adjacent to Cambridge, and as such getting home in the evening means joining the commuter crawl around the town before the A428 whisks you westwards. Presumably this is going to be pretty much the same problem everywhere. It could however be biked in about 45 mins in good weather. That would solve a few problems and there is space to park bikes in the garden if you needed to. All in all I would recommend it to someone who needs the space and comfort that you can't get from a hotel within a reasonable distance of places like Cambridge, St Neots, Cambourne, Huntingdon and Royston.

    Peter2015-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Roys place for 4 weeks and couldn't have been happier. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, everything was spotless, and there were so many small touches that helped it feel like home. Parking was always easy and we appreciated the convenience to the A428 and Cambridge, as well as to greater Cambridgeshire. Thanks for being great hosts, who were so responsive to questions throughout our stay.

  • We were greeted warmly and immediately felt at home which set the tone for a great stay! The house is beautifully presented with everything we needed and plenty of space for the whole family. The house is very clean and modern, with the bonus of a gorgeous garden. Everything was in excellent condition and there was even a pint of milk in the fridge for a much needed coffee on arrival! We would love to stay again and would absolutely recommend to friends. Thank you!

  • Clean, very comfortable and spacious home. Easy check-in and excellent communication. No hesitation in recommending.

    Norma2017-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amy & Tom, the property managers, made me feel very welcome. The property was exactly as described. A brand new house, on a developing estate, which has been beautifully, thoughtfully and tastefully furnished and fitted out. Lovely comfy beds with good quality bedding. The house provided me with my quiet and safe haven while my husband was in Papworth Hospital having a serious heart operation. The house is 5 minutes by car and 5 minutes on foot from the hospital and perfect for anyone in my situation. Amy & Tom were on hand and helpful, but gave me my space. They listened to suggestions I offered to make the house even more perfect and acted on them by emailing the owners and making arrangements to fit a grab rail in the bath and provide a bathroom bin. I really could not have picked a more perfect place and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this accommodation.

  • Not Papworth Hall but the Island Inn Motel down the road. I did feel safe enough to stay there - but do check out the trip adviser reviews. I have never asked to change rooms before. I did on this occasion as there was no hot water in the shower which continuously dripped. Once being shown my new room, it smelt so bad (urine perhaps) that I could not have slept in there -I changed back to the original room with the dripping tap. I am regularly in the area for business but will not stay there again.

It was so convenient for visiting the hospital and a 5 minute drive to some decent eateries. The room itself was very basic but if that's what you are after then it's ideal and still represents excellent value. The sheets were clean and the beds were comfortable.
