“Only 1.3 miles, 5 minute drive or 24 minute walk. In the middle of the Susquehanna River, only a short bridge span away from Harrisburg, sits a 63 acre island and City park. City Island is a tourist destination which is home to numerous businesses including the Harrisburg Senators Baseball Stadium, the Penn Football Club (previously the City Islanders), the Pride of the Susquehanna Riverboat, Cafe Huey, South Mountain Carriage Company, Water Golf miniature golf, City Island Arcade/ Batting Cages, City Island Railroad, and many free parks, playgrounds, and fields. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, most business on the Island are open from 11am until 8pm, with a few attractions such as Water Golf extending their summer hours from 10am to 10pm. “Its 3.3 miles and about a 9 minute drive. The State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg, the official museum of the commonwealth, is a great place for exploration, fun, and discovery. On a trip to the museum, encounter a giant chick, meet a family of Coelophysis dinosaurs, or bump into a huge mastodon. Hike among the bear, porcupine, elk, deer, and other creatures of Mammal Hall. Uncover salamanders and snakes; spot eagles and woodpeckers. Gaze upon the stars in the museum’s Planetarium sky. Follow Pennsylvania’s Native Americans throughout time. March into the Civil War era and see remnants of its greatest battle. Cruise past our antique cars or buzz around our planes.”
