Quaint three bedroom New England castle with expansive grounds and charming views. Please note: as of January 2016, no children under 5 years of age allowed. Thank you!
Our castle was built in 1917 on seven acres by a prosperous Ellington family whose trip to England had inspired the fulfillment of a childhood dream to own a castle. In early 2000, a brilliant artist purchased the castle and dedicated five years to refurbishing and beautifying it. The kitchen is modern with new appliances, the dishwasher having been replaced last year. Downstairs there is a large dining room, a living room with a fireplace, and an inside porch guarded by a medieval knight. Upstairs, each spacious bedroom announces a theme: the jungle room, the Romeo-Juliet room, and an elegant burgundy room with a balcony and bistro set for morning coffee. The grounds offer gardens, a fountain, a gazebo by a pond, and a pergola overlooking another garden with a gargoyle hunched on its pedestal. There is also a trail for leisurely walks up and behind the woods. Points of interest: Bradley Airport, Mark Twain Museum in Hartford, The Bushnell, and The Atheneum Museum are all 20 minutes away by car. Crystal Lake and Shenipsit Lake are less than ten minutes away. Also, 1.5 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from New York City.
  • The castle was an idyllic retreat! Inside is quirky and cosy; outside is beautiful and stately. The grounds are lovely and peaceful (we even saw deer wandering through the yard). Maria is a wonderful host, and a great pleasure to talk to -- I really enjoyed learning the history of the castle. We want to come back every weekend! Thank you, Maria!

  • This Castle was on the top of the list of amazing.. I waited quite some months for my daughter and I, along with two others and their daughters to accompany us to this medieval castle.. Everything was perfect, there was room to spread out. Was comfortable and authentic to medieval times.. The grounds were absolutely breathtaking, everything you need to be comfortable during your stay as far as blankets, kitchen & household needs... Upon arriving I was lucky enough to meet such an amazing soul, Maria. She is absolutely thee most amazing lady ever! She is thee perfect host, kind, sweet, funny and sassy. I was so honored to meet this lady who owns this gem, which she is a gem herself... I will be back, You will be in Love with the Castle and her... ❤❤❤

  • An experience that was far better than expected. As a party of six we found the castle to feel very homely and warm. We had such a lovely rest and visit to the local area. Hartford has some lovely attractions.

  • Maria was very helpful and quick to respond through email to all of my questions. The castle is wonderful! You can't beat the charm! The house and grounds were wonderful. The castle was easy to find, and near our main reason for the trip - Brimfield. It's also very close to some good restaurants. I highly suggest the Chuck Wagon for breakfast. My favorite part was sitting on the terrace in the evening. Very peaceful. I would definitely suggest this location to others.

  • The castle is every bit as beautiful as it is pictured, and wonderfully cozy and comfortable. It is also fantastically photogenic, and surprisingly not far from very modern needs like pizza parlors and grocery stores. It is tough to pick a favorite thing about the castle, but the deck outside the master bedroom might be it. Or the sun porch, or the fireplace or the frog pond... Maria is a delightful host, a real firecracker, and a wonderful person for donating the proceeds of the castle rental to local charities.

  • Aborn Castle is Awesome! I surprised my fiancé for her birthday with a weekend getaway and she loved it. Each room is decorated in a different theme and the artwork and decor can hold your attention for a lifetime. The castle was spotless, comfortable, and warm. Maria was a great host. She was quick to respond in communication and even left us little birthday cupcake candles for our celebration. I tend to measure life through experiences, and staying in Aborn Castle is definitely a story I can share for life.

  • Maria was great with instructions and welcoming us to her castle. I am very sorry we didn't get a chance to meet in person as we got in very late and spent most days at another family residence in the area. It was quite easy to find and the place was very, very interesting. My mother especially loved the many antiques.

    Stacey2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for something special, your search ends here. The castle is simply amazing. We were totally stunned by the interior and the details. It was very clean, the beds comfy, totally quiet at night. Outside there is a beautiful garden and forest and the pond with the bullfrog is also an highlight. We very much enjoyed our stay and totally recommend to stay there! Besides, Maria is a great host, very friendly and helpful!

The house is located close to the town center with restaurants, supermarkets, shops, post office, public library, several colleges and universities, and a short walk distance pastry shop. • Ana's apartment was fabulous. Located on the lower level of her house, it had a private entrance and quiet little patio under a grape arbor! It was spotless, lovely, and I could not have been more comfortable. A half hour from the airport, and 5 minutes from the center of East Longmeadow, the location was very convenient. The neighborhood was beautiful and great for walking. Ana was the perfect hostess!! I would highly recommend her airbnb!!!

    Christine2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ana's airbnb is a peaceful, cozy, beautifully arranged private space. I think anyone would have a wonderful stay here, and I know I'm looking forward to coming back again! I highly recommend it.

  • Nice place to stay. The place is in a quiet, well kept neighborhood. Ana brought breakfast for the first morning which is nice if you haven't had time to explore. The bedroom was a nice size, and the bed was comfortable. Kitchen was also nice size. The apartment is suited for single travelers or couples.

    Kathryn2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Ana's home is beautiful and the neighbourhood is picture perfect. We stayed for a trip to six flags and was only 20 minutes away. Ana was a great host and the little touches were really appreciated. The apartment was modern, clean and comfortable. Would definitely come back if we visit this area in the states again.

  • Quiet, residential getaway in a lovely part of Springfield MA. We enjoyed staying here while visiting family in the area and would recommend this as a nice place for a small family to stay. You will need a car to get around but you are literally five minutes from stores, small restaurants and convenience stores. 15-20 minutes to downtown Springfield. 10 minutes to Wilbraham Center. 15 minutes to Forest Park. 15 minutes to the Turnpike (I-90). Dennis was a gracious host and communication was clear and timely. If we have the chance I hope we can stay here again.

    Karen2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, cute, and convenient; we couldn't have been more pleased. The house had beautiful views out the back. Sheila was a wonderful host. She was easy to reach, very responsive, but not at all intrusive. We really appreciated the treats she left, and the voice responsive computer was a great help finding our way around. The location was perfect, the beds were comfortable, and the showers especially appreciated after spending long days shopping at nearby Brimfield!

  • The room is amazing!! You'll feel right at home. The private bathroom is an extra treat. Loved it.

    Ryan2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • When I got to the house there was loud beeping going on (like a smoke dectector and another beep (with multiple beeps) like a security system. I did not mention it as it was late and i assumed it would be handled shortly. This went on all night about once per minute. I stuffed my ears with tissue, but it would not drown out the sound and I got zero sleep. I let Petrolin know (by airbnb text) at 7:30 the next morning that I could not continue if this was not resolved. I finally heard back from them at about dinner time the same day. I was told they could not fix this and that they were used to this sound. The room I stayed in ("The Charm Spot"..) also only had one window. This window was broken in the sense that it would not open. I told Petrolin that I like fresh air and she pointed to the fans she had in the room. All these did was push the stuffy and stale air around the room. There was no AC to counter balance this. A working window would have been fine. The light by the night stand had a blown light bulb and I consequently could not read myself to sleep. The fact that they were not able to resolve something as simple as replacing a battery in a smoke detector is hard to fathom. I could have overlooked the rest of the issues. Impossible to sleep there. Because of a large event in the area, I was not able to find an alternative place to stay and had to drive 1.5 hours back and forth from my home for the next two days. I hung on the the keys expecting that I would continue my stay there (this did not happen). I ended up sending them back to Petrolin via first class mail (with signature confirmation). I am not a fussy or high maintenance person, but this place would be allot for anyone to bear.

    Don2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Petrolin was pleasant. She was very hospitable and her home is grand. The Room was picture perfect. My husband said it is better than a room in a hotel. Large closet and a privat bathroom is a plus.

  • The host is very understanding, but the house was a little less cleaner than I expected.

  • Great place, well furnished, clean and cozy. The hosts were extremely helpful with check-in, cleaned up the rooms during the second day. Complimentary snacks and muffins were extra nice touch. Overall its a great place, located in a train depot, next to a great restaurant, we got priority seating for dinner, and vouchers for breakfast on Sunday. Great stay!

    Lena2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the apartment! Very clean, secure building, nice updates, it has everything you need for your stay. Communication with the owners was great, very easy and accommodating. The train tracks are close to the apartment, if you are a light sleeper this may not work for you. Heavy sleepers will do just fine.

    John2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay.

    Carl 2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Robin was very accomodating of our later arrival time and even made sure we were well served at The Steaming Tender despite it being near to closing time by then. The loft unit located nearby was spotless, attractively furnished, stocked and well laid out. We were provided with breakfast vouchers for the restaurant in the morning at which there were plenty of appetizing options. The only thing to note which is really a personal preference is that the mattress had a very thick pillow top which prevented me from being able to sleep there at all as it caused severe back pain. I'm sure this could be changed if mentioned beforehand and my boyfriend slept fine despite it.

  • Wonderful place to stay, gorgeous old Victorian home, extremely spacious. Thomas was super friendly even for a quick visit. Bed was on the firmer side, but comfortable. Snacks provided=). Very safe area, quiet, bathroom was awesome, overall no complaints. Only potential downside is the house is old and a little creaky so if you're a light sleeper it may not be the best option for you.

Our home is nestled on a rural road surrounded by woods and fields to walk, bike, hike or cross country ski. Relax or explore. Adventure is right out the door. The Brimfield Antique show is 5mins away and Tree House Brewery 15-20 mins away. Enjoy the modern relaxing interior.
Our home is unique, full of character, modern and clean. We have a country New England experience. Cook, laugh, relax, adventure and sleep peaceful!! As former NYC dwellers we brought style into the country. Perfect urban getaway!!! Refreshing and special rural experience and adventure without being too far from the city. High Speed Wifi internet to get business done while here enjoying some pleasure time. Hipster friendly and don't forget to swing on the rope swing or use the outdoor shower!!!
Our location is on a very rural country road that is ideal for walking and exploring. We are a quick drive to the local grocery store or highway Interstates 84/95/91 but completely engrossed in the New England landscape nestled in trees with a gorgeous field view across the street. When you sit quietly on the outdoor deck and patio the sounds of the birds, owls and crickets are like a harmony of peacefulness. Friendly community experience.
  • We stayed here the weekend of the Brimfield Antique Show in May, and I highly recommend Michele's place for other people interested in Brimfield! The location is perfect, just a 10-15 min drive from the show! And because this house is west of the show, we managed to avoid a lot of traffic heading east at the end of the day. On top of that, Michelle is a great host! She accommodated our late arrival Friday night and left a very helpful note with information about the house and the area as well as some wine and chocolate (which we definitely indulged in after a long day antiquing!). Her house is very clean and provides all the comforts of home as well as some fun extras like the rope swing and hiking trails. We didn't have a chance to use the bikes or kayaks, but the fact that they are provided for guest use makes this place a fun little country retreat!

  • Good place to stay in Monson!

    serena2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We wound up needing a place to stay in Massachusetts at the last minute, on our way to Maine, and we had our dog and two kids with us...not easy to find a place, right? But Airbnb to the rescue! Michelle, the host, made it easy and seamless. Her communication was quick and friendly. The house was ADORABLE and absolutely perfect for our needs. Warm, clean, inviting, and comfortable. She and her husband have great taste too, so it was an added bonus! The decor is really lovely. We were walking around the yard and discovered the outdoor shower! Who knew! It was awesome! Thank you!!!

  • The place was very clean and very private. The little chickens and the big fireplace outside were nice. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and even more! It was easy from the start to the end.

  • We stayed at this quaint home for the Brimfield antique market, which was only 5 mins away from everything - even better - was in the opposite direction of Sturbridge so we didn't hit any traffic congestion. Michele was such a gracious host providing everything we needed and more. Thank you for such a terrific experience!

Our house is close to the city center, parks, art and culture, great views, and restaurants and dining.. You’ll love my place because of the neighborhood, the kitchen, and the friendly, relaxed atmosphere.. Our house is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets). Discount available for booking multiple rooms.
  • Great location and the park is right across the street if you need a nice walk. Carol is a great host and very accommodating. This is an older home that come with lots of character which can include some doors that don't close, sticky windows, floor pops. The stairwells are traditionally narrow but again that is part of the charm of this era. The pets are very people friendly. Carol is happy to provide morning espresso to save you time/money to a corner coffee shop. Super fast internet and streaming in your own room was not an issue.

  • Hosts are so welcoming. We were able to view the historical event of the solar eclipse their upon our arrival through their telescope. It was great that our daughter was able to witness this in such a fashion. This is way better than any hotel.

  • Carol was a great host. She was very accommodating and entertaining. We really enjoyed our stay as her house is very cozy and clean.. Complete with everything that you need. There were lots of complimentary snacks and drinks too. Plus breakfast and toiletries are also provided. She also made great mocha latte for me - which was actually way better than other coffee shops! We will definitely book her place again next time we're in town. Thanks so much for having us!

The bathroom and shower were gorgeous and HUGE! Thanks to Elaine and Lewis for their hospitality! :)

  • Mohammad's place was fantastic! He happened to be away so I had the whole place to myself. He gave great directions and I had issues opening the door but he said it is sometimes sticky - so I used my hip to open the door. I knew there were other reasons to have hips - than just having babies. :) I would stay there again if I was in the vicinity in a heartbeat!

This is a listing for a private bedroom in a beautiful Victorian Mansion. You will have access to the common areas of the house as well as the use of any bathroom. There are 3 bathrooms that you may use. We are a very friendly and accommodating family. We have been doing airbnb for close to 2 years. Don't hesitate to check our other listings!
  • This was my first Airbnb stay. Great place. Great family. I would stay again.

  • Siervo and his family were kind and gracious hosts. We enjoyed chatting with them at times, and they gave us all of the privacy we wanted. The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet, and an easy drive to downtown.

  • What a beautiful family! Working to restore a beautiful house/mansion. We want to return in a year and see where it goes from here. I could not think of a more wonderful life for the kids than in this great house. The rooms are in the beginning stages of decoration, they are clean. There are 2 cats, one very shy, the other old, and you may hear one when you are there. The tour through this building is worth the stay. Siervo was totally accommodating, he bent over backwards to help us, and the bathrooms were plentiful. Vey interesting place to stay.

Entire 1 bedroom Apt. located inside an English Tudor home in Sprinfield's Historic District. The apartment is within walking distance to downtown, the Basketball Hall of Fame and the new MGM casino being built. Six flags is only a 15 minute car ride away. This is the perfect location for prospective college students or travellers looking for potential schools in the area or looking to explore downtown.
  • Andres' place was a high quality AirBnB experience. The location was great for accessing the downtown area. It was a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute drive. There was ample parking in the back of the building, so walking or driving are viable options when going downtown. The apartment itself was well appointed, with a four person kitchen table, and a couch and arm chair. The bedroom had a nice chest and side table to go with a comfortable (for me anyway) bed. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the bathroom considering the age of the building. The shower had excellent pressure, though I will warn you that you should give the shower a few minutes to warm up, but once it does the water can be nice and warm or scalding if you like it that hot. There were a number of other very nice touches that I appreciated: 1) The bedding was nice. 2) I appreciated the obvious thoughtfulness of having coffee and tea available along with the necessary equipment to make them. 3) I also appreciated that the towels, toilet paper, etc. were in the open, which means no searching was necessary. 4) The TV is a Roku TV with HBO Go, no sign-in necessary. One downside is that the windows are a bit old, so not soundproof really. The living area is on the front of the house, so some road noise carries in. However, the bedroom is on the back of the house, so there was basically no noise from the street there. While the apartment is in a chopped up older Tudor style mansion, I basically heard no one during my entire stay, including on a Friday night (save when someone left the downstairs apartment and talked rather loudly on the phone on their way out, but that was early enough it was no real bother). I highly recommend a trip to Red Rose Italian if you are looking for somewhere to eat. It is about 5 minutes away by car, with its own parking lot. One final note, do make sure to check the picture on the check-in steps to make sure you go to the correct door as it isn't obvious at night without the help of the picture. I would definitely return here should I be back in Springfield.

  • Jacqueline's place was perfect for our family of four (two adults and two teenagers). The "basement" does not feel much like a basement, but it was indeed a spacious luxury unit with everything as represented. The gym was a real treat, and the kids used the Ping-Pong table and enjoyed the entertainment system, complete with Roku, while lounging on the comfy sectional next to the fireplace. We hope to return when we next visit Longmeadow.

**Please ask any questions/introduce yourself before booking and let me know what time you plan to arrive so I can arrange my schedule to meet you. Check in is between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Check out time is by 8:00 AM ** There is strong wi-fi throughout the house. Nice cotton sheets, fluffy towels and basic toiletries are provided. I have two dogs who do not interact with guests and two cats who love attention. This guest suite is on the fourth floor of my house. There are lots of stairs! There is another guest suite on the third floor. I've had some guests (usually people who don't live in cities) say they thought the area around here was sketchy. This is a diverse, urban neighborhood. There are lots of poor people and people of color who live here. It is also a very safe and friendly neighborhood. I have lived here for 15 years and I love it. If you are uncomfortable in a city and being around poor people and/or people of color, maybe this isn't the best place for you to stay.
Right next door to Springfield Museums complex. Close to Marriott, Sheraton, and MassMutual Center.
  • Erica's home is lovely and in nice pocket neighborhood near downtown Springfield: a great substitute for the Marriott or Sheraton, with free (on street) parking. Erica was extremely accommodating of my arrival schedule, communication was easy, and the space was exactly as advertised.

    Jennifer2015-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely street, lovely home. Very clean and comfortable with a lot of private space. Erica is a delightful hostess. Highly recommended. I will definitely stay here again the next time I am in Springfield.

    Mary2014-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Erica made me feel welcome by explaining where everything was/how everything worked and making sure I had everything I needed. The description was spot-on in its accuracy. The street is idyllic and lined with beautiful, classic New England foliage (at least in October), and the home is very close to a host of great museums and the central transportation hub. I later found out that the area/street is historic, and it's easy to see why.

    simon2015-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Erica is a very welcoming and attentive host, so I felt quite at home there. I was there 11 nights. The photos are accurate, and the property is accurately described. I didn't ever find parking to be a problem - if you are too late back to park on the street, just park on Pearl Street where it meets Mattoon. Erica was very helpful in pointing out the places to visit in Springfield. I was there as a tourist, and between the museums (just a block away), impressive Forest Park in Springfield, visiting Cambridge, and some decent bike trails, I found plenty to do.

    Ed2013-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Erica was a fabulous host. From her warm, insightful conversation to her ever-excited, gloriously bug-eyed pups, Erica and her menagerie of pets made my brief stay in Springfield memorable. Erica ensured that I was comfortable and well-sated, providing clean, beautiful accommodations and assistance in every arena, from suggesting local destinations (she even had an extra museum pass lying around!) to graciously offering me a seat at her dinner table. (She and I ended up walking to her favorite Indian restaurant, an excellent recommendation.) The photographs in this listing are entirely accurate, and can easily speak for themselves: the home is gorgeous - delightfully historic, with Victorian furnishing and accoutrement adding a great deal of charm. Small part inn-keeper, large part ambassador, Erica is the reason why Airbnb is a community more than just a business model. I'd be delighted to recommend her lovely townhouse suite to anyone who stops in Springfield. Thanks to Erica for being such a wonderful host.

    Emily2013-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed my stay at Erica Walch's B&B. Her Victorian townhouse is an authentic 19th century gem, located conveniently close to downtown Springfield, on a lovely street of Victorian townhouses. The suite was comfortable and spacious, and I found Erica very accommodating and helpful throughout.

    Sylvia2014-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay in Erica's fourth floor suite. I arrived relatively late at night, and Erica met me at her door. She was very friendly and welcoming. The neighborhood was very nice and historic-looking. The room I stayed in was private and I felt very comfortable spending the night. It was easy to get back on to the highway for traveling in the morning. All and all a great stay!

My place is great for a quiet getaway. Safe for children off the main road with 3 wooded acres of land. Great for hiking, with a lake less than a half mile away. This home is an hour from Boston, Hartford, and The Berkshires. It is 15 minutes from Sturbrigde, which is a great place for shops, antiques and restaurants.
  • Cabin was beautiful, clean and very inviting. Sandra and her Husband are very nice, friendly, attentive and kind. She was accommodating and just a text away. Can't wait until we see them again in the winter god willing. We have found our home away from home. Thank you again Sandra for everything.

    Vanessa 2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a log cabin, with wooden character throughout the place giving it a distinct charm. All the areas are super clean, and up-to date. It's secluded but not too far from neighbors or the towns so it's a perfect middle ground- quiet and peaceful!

    Dino2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I chose this place because it was secluded and quiet. Neighbors aren't too close but it was also pretty easy to get to. The home is a beautiful log cabin that looks just like the pictures. The home was very clean and Sandra left us condiments to use as well as a lovely blueberry bunt cake! If you're looking for a weekend away from the city and noise, this is the perfect place!

    Virginia2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra and her husband were very gracious to turn over their cabin to us and were available if we needed anything. The cabin is definitely cozy (yet very open and well lit with natural lighting) inside and out and well-furnished. The porch (which wraps around on three sides and can be accessed by numerous screen doors) adds to the inside-outside blending that made the cabin so very livable. It was a home away from home! We used the cabin as a base to hike sections of the New England Trail, visit Old Sturbridge Village outdoor museum, hike & bike trails in Sturbridge, and walk through the Norcross Wildlife Sanctuary.

    Karen2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect two night stay at Sandra's cabin home. The description was accurate but the home and property exceeded our expectations. It's a beautiful and serene place, nestled in the trees with quiet and privacy, although it had all the modern comforts one could need. It was incredibly clean, bright, and airy while charmingly rustic outside. We took a great walk through the 3 miles of the Norcross reserve (a 7 minute drive), found a market/farm stand and liquor store close by (10 min drive), and spent most of the time using the kitchen (providing everything needed to cook and a modern dishwasher), and dining or reading on the deck. Deer, chipmunks, and a massive hawk all approached the lawn around the house while we were sitting out. Great place to bring binoculars and enjoy nature, but also just a really cool and comfortable spot to call home for a few nights. Will definitely return.

  • Outstanding in everyway.Host was extremely accomadating and helpful in every way...5 stars all the way for Sandra.

  • WOW !! We absolutely loved this cozy cabin in the woods, like other reviews the pictures don't do this house justice. The space was spectacular in every way. Right from the minute we drove up and opened the door we knew that it would be hard to leave ! It was cozy, and clean plus the serene location can not be beat ! We felt cocooned by the surrounding woods and the wrap around deck provided a much needed connection with nature. The home was equipped with everything needed for a relaxing vacation but mostly we enjoyed the homey feel and family photos. We are so grateful to our host for sharing this beautiful place and can tell how much she loves it too ! Sandra is by far the sweetest host we have ever had ! We texted back and forth all the way up until she knew we were settled in comfortably and then she respected our privacy ( actually missed talking with her and hope we will be able to meet next time ! ) To us Sandra and her cozy cabin in the woods is what AIRBNB is all about. A beautiful spot to spend time at that is affordable with a great host. What more could we ask for ? Simply perfect... Thank you Sandy , We will be back soon.

Enjoy a picturesque 15 minute drive to the Brimfield Antique Show! We are just 5 minutes to Staffordville Lake and 5 minutes to downtown Stafford Springs. Many acres of Wildlife Refuge and Parks just a stone's throw away from the Inn.
Our home is on the original town green and still boasts many of the original details from 1778. Our home has wide plank floors, hand carved chair rails, two of the bedrooms boast barreled ceilings and one a mullion window! Our prices are per room rates. During the Brimfield show we provide a large continental buffet with "to go" bags and coffee cups for those that aspire to the sunrise opening at the show. If you are interested in a seated breakfast during the show we are happy to provide a hot breakfast as well upon request. During the winter months we used two wood burning stoves that provide a warm, welcoming environment. While preserving the details from the 1700's we also provide modern amenities like free cable and WiFi. Our family loves to host guests and have had guests from as far as New Zealand, Dubai, Paris and Norway to name a few. We also have hosted many local folks who love to get away from the quad cities that surround us. Hartford, CT , Boston, MA, Springfield, MA and NYC, NY are within 40 minutes to 3 hours from our home. We are a family run New England get away rich in history and landscape in every season. Since we raise our three children in our historic home we also accept guest with children of all ages which is very rare in the B&B world. We hope you or perhaps you and your family will visit and become as enchanted by our quaint little town as we have grown! Some of the decor in our home is for sale. I love to have a piece from our local antique shop rotating at the Inn to change up our decor. We also usually have a few photos for sale and maple syrup, of course! We have 5 sugar houses in town and love using and supplying their products! We have two rooms routinely available and two others if we have a large party staying for a minimum of two nights or longer. We also host small events and gatherings. Hope to meet you soon! The Rhoads Family
We are in a rural setting with our neighbor's horses surrounding us. The two dirt roads that flank the inn are perfect for nature walks or bike rides. Not far from the inn there are trails for both hiking and mountain biking if you are looking for more challenging adventure. Staffordville lake is only a 5 minute drive down the hill and is open to the public during summer months free of charge and after school hours all year long. Our local pub J&D's has wonderful fish taco's and a signature burger that is on the CT Brew and Burger tour. Basil's restaurant is know for it's high quality, huge portions of italian and American cuisine and only a 5 minute drive. We are also home to some of the best Barn Sales around especially during the Brimfield show! If you can come before the show I can direct you to some amazing finds at half the price! Our most popular event is the Brimfield Antique Show which is held three times per year in May, July and September and is a mere 15 drive through lovely rural rolling hills and around spectacular Staffordville Lake. Our downtown now boasts The Palace Theatre originally a Vaudeville destination with the pulley system still visible! It is an intimate setting and a wonderful way to enjoy live music or any one of the other live acts the Palace draws here. Stafford Springs has become an artist community filled with studios and galleries as well as occasional street performers and drum circles during the summer months at our farmers market. Downtown offers antique shopping, a thrift store for bargain finds, gift shops and a wonderful coffee shop with an organic flair! The shops of Stafford are hidden gems in our rural getaway. To name a few we have a vintage clothing store, Three Grace's, that have amazing finds at reasonable prices, an antique and oddities shop called Rustology that could consume you for days wondering through their vast store and warehouse just a few steps away from each other and many other charming shops including our latest addition, Sabor, an Olive Oil Tap Room and gallery! Sturbridge Village a living history museum is an amazing place with the horse drawn carriage that used to stop right here at the inn! We are so lucky to have such a big part of our history forever preserved just a few miles away in a living museum.
  • A lovely place to relax. The host Family were quite enjoyable and sensitive to our needs. The house is beautiful and the neighborhood quiet. We enjoyed a walk along a nice nearby dirt road. I would definitely stay here again.

  • We had a great time staying there. Every room filled with heritage antique and great location for antique hunting trip. The breakfast was exquisite and more than we expected. Great and responsive communication with Danele. We will definitely be back!

  • It was a very enjoyable stay at the Inn, comfortable and quiet in the countryside and nice talks with the hosts. .a beautiful setting to experience the autumn in Stafford Springs!

  • We stayed in the Heritage Room. It was charming, lots of character, extremely clean. A new bathroom with a great shower. Danele went out of her way to be welcoming and helpful, even offering boots and umbrellas for the rainy days. She was flexible with arrival times and breakfast. She was a wealth of information about the community, local shops, and the Brimfield Market. A lovely homey historical house. Three sweet children that were fun to be around. Overall one of the best BnB's we've stayed at and would definitely go back.

  • Staying at Danele's inn was fantastic! Her house is wonderfully decorated and comfortable, and the breakfast she provides is a great deal. She was more then accommodating with my weird food allergies, and even sent me and my friends off with snacks to keep us going during our Brimfield shopping trip. The inn is located within easy driving distance from Brimfield (15-20 mins), but a lovely retreat from the madness of the show. Her family is very warm and inviting, and we enjoyed relaxing in her house over a bottle of wine each night after heavy shopping. She even directed us to some off the beaten path shops nearby with even better deals! I would highly recommend staying here, and hope to be able to stay again someday!

  • Fantastic B&B! Everything exceeded expectations and the history of the house and the area is really interesting.

  • What an amazing place! The room was absolutely beautiful, even nicer than the pictures! Danele went out her way to make us feel comfortable and at home. She even showed us around Stafford Springs and gave us loads of suggestions of activities to do with my children in the area. My kids had a great time playing with her children, especially in the playhouse out back! The area is stunning, right next to the house there is a long dirt road that was perfect for a morning and evening walk through the woods. I would love to go back and explore the area further.

  • Beautiful countryside location. Danele and her family were all incredibly welcoming and we enjoyed spending time with them. It really made us feel like we were at home. Danele's hospitality was above and beyond our expectations, it's just a shame we couldn't have spent more time at The Keepers Inn.

My husband and I invite you to stay at our Colonial reproduction home "Thornwood". We're conveniently located about 2.6 miles off of the Mass Pike and only a stone's throw from the Amherst/Northampton area. 18.6 miles from UMass Amherst and approximately 33 miles from Northampton.
Situated on 6.52 acres in rural Thorndike, this 2 story home features authentic details: from the handblown bulls-eye glass over the front door, hand-hewn chestnut beams, wide pine flooring and wainscoting. Warm up by the massive brick fireplace with working bake oven. Gardens, stone walls, and brick walks lead to an in-ground pool and a granite staircase that leads to a gazebo.
The Western Massachuttes area has so much to offer. Close by are many hiking trails, bike paths, restaurants, a local brewery, and a winery/vineyard.
  • Gorgeous home and friendly hosts. Excellent place to stay for a quiet weekend.

  • This charming colonial style home was a good choice for us. Kelsey and Eze have created a restful, art filled retreat. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. The home is clean and neat and the pool area is gorgeous. Our hosts were extremely gracious even to the point of allowing us to stay in their home when they were called out of town. I whole heartedly recommend this lovely home to those seeking a more personal experience than a motel room.

  • Beautiful home, quiet area, and super comfortable bed! The hosts pay great attention to detail (there was a coffee maker and tea and coffee set up in my room and travel toiletries in the bathroom). I'm very impressed and would definitely stay again!
