Welcome to our renovated, log cottage with big, bright windows and breathtaking views to our 2 acres of forest and 400+ feet of private, clear and clean water frontage plus a wood fired sauna! Watch the deer wander by from the window - magic! The cabin is one bedroom with a double and two singles, and the sleeping sofa in the living room.
A Cottage Retreat on Classic Canadian Lake Welcome to our renovated, log cottage with big, bright windows and breathtaking views to our private waterfront and forested, rolling hills on a 2 acre property with 400+ feet of private, clear and clean water frontage, lots of boats (canoe, kayaks, paddle boat, wind surfer) with a wood fired stove, wood fired outdoor sauna and an outdoor fire pit. Our retreat is a cabin nestled in a forest, on an aquifer-fed lake with crystal clear lake and pristine shores. Deer, beaver, loons, birds, owls and blue herons visit our property daily, In Spring, Summer and Fall.... We have waterfront docks, a floating raft, and huge rock fire-pit along the water. A canoe and paddle boat are there for those who want to explore the lake. This lake is even stocked with trout for those who want to take a rod with them. We have an outdoor shower for the three seasons except winter. Inside the Western Cedar Log Cabin: Ralph Lauren style decor in a 16'x24' cedar log building with loft ceilings, exposed beams and exposed log walls throughout. Open-concept cooking and living area, wood stove, surround sound and flat screen and dvd player. Firm mattresses, pillows and duvets assure a great night's sleep. The kitchen is equipped for people who like to cook. Good knives, copper bottom pots, crock pot, sandwich/waffle grill, gas bbq - you name it, we have it! Cellular service is very good the lake. You can tether your phone to a laptop to work up there. The sleeping options are good for one or two couples or one couple with children. One bedroom with one double and single bunk beds; living room seating converts to a queen bed. There's a huge clawfoot tub in the bathroom and beautiful views from all the windows. Deer hang out on the property throughout the year. During all seasons except winter, our outside hot shower is one of our guests favourite features. Imagine taking a hot shower after a hot sauna or long hike, while watching the birds fly by! In the winter - it's the wood fired sauna and buckets of water or snow to cool down inside the sauna; or just roll around in the snow outside - you will amazed how warm you feel after heating up in the sauna. The cabin is on Wenona Lake, near Loon Lake - a 15 min drive from Village of Haliburton with all amenities including spas, groceries and liquor stores, restaurants, shops, bookstores. Many artist studios are in the area. Mountain biking at Sir Sam's resort, Haliburton Forest for tree top and ground hikes in the region. Note: We do not generally encourage pets but will handle these requests on a case-by-case basis.
The cabin is 18 minutes from a town (Haliburton Village) which has all amenities, shops, banks, hospital, restaurants etc. Yes the cabin is quiet and private on a large property with lots of trees, hills and shoreline. In this cottage area you will find a blend of outdoor sport and art culture. The Haliburton School of Fine Arts attracts artists from all over the world to learn and then settle here. The natural environment attracts outdoor enthusiasts - hiking, fishing, white water kayaking, boating.
  • We had the most lovely stay at the cottage. The pictures do not do this hidden gem justice! We couldn't imagine a more perfect place to get away from our busy lives in the city. We will definitely be back. Susan was incredibly attentive and accommodating!

    Becki2015-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was lovely and just as pictured. It was very cold when we arrived but there was plenty of dry firewood and kindling to get the wood stove going - also lots of blankets! There is a well-equipped kitchen with all the gadgets you need. The sauna was amazing and warmed up quite quickly. There's lots to do in the area, and we went dog sledding in the Haliburton Forest. All in all a very relaxing and picturesque stay, perfect for a couple or a small family.

    David2014-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic, peaceful location. We woke to snow and deer lying down outside the cabin - bliss!

    M2017-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was a perfect, simple and cosy winter getaway. Our trip was highlighted by beautiful sunsets, deer frolicking outside the window and lots of naps by the fireplace. It was the best way to celebrate my 30th Birthday. Thanks Susan.

    Lori-Anne 2013-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • This stay in the lovely Susan's cabin was just awesome. My parents, my girlfriend and I were in this wonderful place for three days, between 3 days in Toronto and 2 days in Montreal. We've been for three weeks in big East cities (New York, Chicago), and we needed some peace for a while. And that cottage was perfect. This place is just amazing, if you are a couple, if you come with your family, if you come with friends, whatever. View from the lounge, firewood, sauna...What a stay ! Thanks for everything Susan !!

  • Great Location, Lovely place to spend our final few nights in Canada. Amazing location on a beautiful lake. Fantastic place to unwind and get back to nature.

    Chris2013-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a truly wonderful time at the cabin, it was a very relaxing and chilled time for us. The lake was beautiful and we had fun in the boat; all the amenities were in perfect condition and the BBQ in particular made our experience complete. Also showering outside was unforgettable! Susan was communicative and helped us a lot with questions we had - we really recommend this property and host and would love to stay again!

    Victoria & Patrick2014-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay, and Susan is a great host - she was available to answer our calls and provided us with timely information. We're looking forward to returning in the summer!

  • Very stylish basement accommodations in a house finished to a very high standard. This was very smart and luxury stop for us, the owners have a high quality apartment which was very warm and high tech. The position of the apartment is amazing, brilliant views of the lakes, with its own private beach. After 2 weeks in huts in the woods this was a real treat and Kris and Elena were happy to help with anything we needed.

    Richard2017-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Kris and Elena are amazing guys and their hospitality is incomparable. The place was much better than we expected. Have all the required facilities, very clean, beautiful scenic view and a great place to hang out. Kris and Elena are very friendly and helped us in a lot of ways. We would love to visit again and have a jolly time at this place. Definitely a place "Once Discovered, Never Forgotten".

  • Kris and Elena are fantastic host whoare

    Xiao2017-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend! Great people, great house, feeling home everywhere. The bedrooms are very clean and comfortable, with a separate entrance which guarantees the privacy. Lovely chairs besides the lake. And we enjoy talking to Kris and Elena.

    Ling2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of my best AirBnB experience. Kris and Elena were super friendly and hospitable. They made sure we knew our way to their cottage, and took time to explain all the features and amenities of the place. They were also generous in letting us use their kitchen upstairs. The cottage is very cozy, and has a lakeside view that will totally take your breath away.

  • Marc's place was awesome! Great place, lots of space and Marc was quick to respond to any questions. My only caution would be if you can't handle many stairs it may not be the spot for you. There's 160 stairs from the driveway down to the water. Other than that (and that wasn't a big deal for us) this place was great, and I hope we are able to stay there again next year!

    Terry2016-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was awesome! It is so beautifully finished and very comfortable. The waterfront is great and so is the fire area. The cottage was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The guidebook was great and included great suggestions for shopping and activities. Although we never met Marc, he was really quick to answer questions. It was a great location for a family getaway.

    Diana2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Marc's cottage is absolutely beautiful and exactly as shown in photos, if not better. The place was clean, spacious, and easy to find (with a GPS). Marc was very accommodating and allowed us to check in early. He was also quick to reply to any inquiries. The area is secluded, peaceful, and relaxing and the cottage is located right on a beautiful lake. We had an amazing time here and can't wait to go back again! Highly reccommend Marc and his cottage.

    Roxana2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Marc & Heather were great hosts. They were quick to answer any questions we had and were very nice. The cottage was beautiful with many lovely upgrades and plenty of space for our family of 6. With 4 kids, the washer/dryer came in handy a couple times and was a great amenity! The kitchen was clean and well equipped. The kids enjoyed fishing, canoeing and jumping off the dock. With only one rainy day, we were able to enjoy some family time playing board games in the screened in porch. We all had a wonderful time J

    AARON2016-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage, just as described. We had a great time and definitely would go back again. Highly recommended.

    Hannah2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Stuart and Rhonda were amazing hosts. Communication was great even up until last minute before arrival with me asking little questions from the grocery store up there. They had everything we needed and were so pleasant to talk to. You couldn't have asked for a nicer little guest cottage or a more beautiful lake. Perfect spot for a relaxing vacation. The swimming was great and being in the hot tub over looking the lake was a great bonus. For sure would love to come back next year, I imagine it's a beautiful spot at all times of the year.

    Sally2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rhonda and Stuart's Guest Cabin is exactly like the pictures and more. Rhonda and Stuart were very helpful and welcoming which makes the stay very comfortable. The lake view in morning and a sky full of star at night were magical. We had fun borrowing their kayak out on the lake and just dipping into the water with our dogs! We also get to hangout with Lucy, Toby and their puppy Piper! It was super nice to meet all of them and we cant wait to come back!

  • This was a perfect retreat location. Very quiet and secluded, clean and comfortable. We visited in early autumn and the colours were beginning to change which was beautiful. We didn't need to access the lake at all but I took a walk down to the beach and it was lovely. All around a good experience!

  • We stayed at the cottage with 2 adults and 4 kids and it was perfect. Everything is new in the cottage. The living room and the kitchen are very spacious and kitchen is comfortable to cook and has everything you need. The bedrooms are spacious enough and have drawers wardrobes to unpack your clothes. We very much enjoyed the decks outside and the fire pit. The lake is 5 min walk down the hill. We were the only ones on the dock all the time. The water access was good for kids to swim. Lots of raspberries around. We saw a never and seers just near the house. 10 min drive to Haliburton where we enjoyed the sculpture forest. We highly recommend the cottage.

  • Pictures don't do justice to this beautiful cottage and the view! We spent a magnificent weekend there and took the canoe for a spin (all safety gear is provided). The cottage is fully equipped for 8 people, and a pet. There are even bowls for the pet's food and water. The heating can be adjusted for each room individually, which ensures everyone's comfort. Even though it rained most of the time we were there, we got to enjoy the magnificent view and had plenty of room for all of us to be comfortable. Reminder: bring linens, pillows.

    Franco2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We booked a few nights very last minute and everything turned out perfectly! Lyndsay was very quick to try to accommodate us with a same day request which was much appreciated! The cottage is a perfect size, not too big or too small, and is very nicely updated. The lake is beautiful and connects to another few larger lakes for those who like paddling etc. Loved the woodstove as it was cooler this time of year, and Lyndsay had her father come by to show us how to use it. Beds were super comfortable as well! It was great having access to the kayaks and canoes as well, it's a great extra so that you don't necessarily have to bring your own. Beautiful view, I'm sure we'll be back!

    Cara2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The place is a real paradise. And Lindsey, so attentive, does everything to make it just perfect. Ideal place to relax, I recommend it without hesitation

  • We had a wonderful stay at the apartment at Wildwood Farms! Pamela and Hugh were lovely hosts -- we appreciated the thoughtful touches such as fruit for the morning and tarts from a local bakery -- and the apartment was a cozy and comfy oasis at the end of the day.

    Janelle2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Place was exactly as described! We only stayed one night for a wedding so we didn't get a chance to explore the grounds, but it was a beautiful property!

  • Pamela and Hugh are gracious hosts and have an incredibly lovely space, the photos do not capture how spacious and airy the room is, while still maintaining the cozy rustic charm you'd expect from cottage country. The grounds are incredible and we were greeted by deer and various other wild critters when we stepped out the front door to look at the stars. Highly recommended accommodation.

    Rodney2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Pamela and Hugh are the perfect hosts. Their home is a wonderful place to relax or be active and explore the many activities Haliburton has to offer. Pamela and Hugh have many suggestions and a great knowledge of the area. We are looking forward to the next time we visit Wildwood.

    Beatrice2017-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Pamela and Hugh are accommodating and friendly hosts. The large bedroom/living room off of their kitchen is comfortable with carpets, a comfy mattress and bedding, oversized couch, private bathroom and kitchen supplies. The centuries old timbers, picturesque views, and surrounding land make for a peaceful and relaxing stay. We highly recommend.

    Molly2017-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a real treat for those who love the outdoors and the tranquility of nature. The apartment is comfy with plenty of seating areas and it is spacious. Pamela and her husband are very accommodating as my husband has a mobility issue and they are very sociable and welcoming.

    Linda2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was nicely decorated and had a very cozy atmosphere. The location was beautiful and very quiet - it was a great place to get away and relax. We appreciated the little touches done by Pamela and Hugh such as giving us a delicious bar of chocolate as a welcome gift. Pamela and Hugh were very accommodating but also gave us the privacy we wanted. This was a great place to stay and is highly recommended!

This large 5 bedroom cottage on Salerno Lake is perfect for your next escape to cottage country! Sit on the dock and peacefully enjoy the lake view, or use the kayaks, canoe and paddle boat to explore the lake. Fully winterized for snowshoeing, skiing and other winter activities.
This house is a comfortable living space on a beautiful lake. The second floor has three bedrooms, a large family room with cathedral ceiling, and a bathroom (with shower). The main floor has the master bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom (with shower). There is also a sunroom, a outside dining area, and a deck with a sitting area. The basement has a bedroom with two beds, mud room, a bathroom (with bathtub). All beds are queen size except for a single pull out in the living room, and one double in the basement. There are four Muskoka chairs for enjoying the dock. Swimming is excellent off the end of the dock (about 7 feet deep). You can also walk in from the shore but water shoes are advised because of small rocks and seaweed.
  • Great relaxing place by the water...thanks very much for opening your cottage to us!

  • Great place for a quiet weekend. Well maintained and clean. Loved it

    Anand2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • We spent the thanksgiving long weekend here and loved the place. Great location, gorgeous fall colour, secluded by surrounding forest with full privacy. The cottage is well equipped with modern heating, water and electric systems. We had a full house without a single glitch during our stay. The price we paid is well worth it!

  • Philippa's cottage was exactly what we were looking for. A cozy, clean cottage, well stocked with everything needed possible . We were stunned by how beautiful the cottage was, especially with those high arched windows. The property is situated by the waters with lots of trees and nature. We swam off the dock and made great use of the kayaks and all other water equipments provided by the host. Our most favorite part of the cottage was probably the sun room where we spent most of our time having our meals and just lounging around. Philippa was an excellent host and quick to answer any questions. We would most definitely return. - Torontonians:)

    Reya2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage with lots of space for big groups. Has a great dock and lots of water activities for during the day. There is also a fire pit for evening bon fires.

    Cam2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at this cottage Septemb(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). Phillipa was very accommodating from the minute we started talking. Any questions we had, she answered very quickly. The cottage is well kept and stocked with everything you could need. They even had extras of many things. The beds are comfy and the rooms are a great size. The sun room was one of our favourite parts. The lake is very clear and was warm. There are quite a bit of weeds , but it makes for good fishing! We were surprised by the amount of mud/sludge by the shore line. We think this was due to the water level. Philipa did state that it is mushy. We would suggest water shoes. The driveway is a huge hill, which Phillipa told us about ahead of time. We parked at the top of the driveway and had no problems. I would be advised that if you are not in good shape the hill could cause slight problems going up and down. All in all we had an amazing time and would definitely go back!!

    Emily2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cottage on the lake! The view was breathtaking, even in October! My family and I spent a weekend here and it was everything we hoped it would be. The cottage was very clean and so cozy! We spent most of our time on the water in the kayaks and canoe, even took out the paddle boat! Unfortunately it did rain, but that gave us a good excuse to gather together and play some board games that were provided in the family room. I recommend this place to anyone who is interested in getting away from the city and spending some quality time with nature.

    Alexandra2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful, spacious and well situated property, with amazing proximity and view of the lake. The swimming off the dock is awesome, the water warm and there is plenty of paddle crafts for water recreation provided by the owner. The dock has the most comfy of Muskoka chairs for sipping a beverage of choice, while watching the resident loons and taking in all the peace cottage life has to offer. The cottage has all the comforts of home and a really great vibe. To top it off, the owners are very responsive, highly regarded in the community, provided accurate information about the property, advised us about the steep hill leading down to the cottage and where to best park. We had a few queries during our stay and we received answers very quickly. This is a very family friendly cottage and a perfect destination for a couple of families to come together and enjoy summer.

  • Marks cottage is by far one of the best cottages I've visited in the Haliburton area. The location was great and the decor was beautiful.. very tastefully decorated. Mark was clear with all instructions and was never difficult to get a hold of. TIP: if visiting in the winter, be sure to bring a vehicle with good traction in snow.

  • Beautiful and ideal place. Beds were uncomfortable and the internet limit was quickly surpassed but the place is wonderful. Most of the time was spent outdoors around the fire. Would recommend.

The cottage was completely renovated last year. The 1000 sq ft cottage is fully equipped, bright and very clean, with dishwasher. There is a big beach and a natural lazy river that ends near the cottage. Very little boat traffic but there is great fishing out on the lake. There is lots of outside space for kids to play, a large back deck with a BBQ and a firepit area. The cottage is very private. Close to town and corner store with LCBO.
This private, cozy, and picturesque cottage on Cranberry Lake in Haliburton is available for rent by the week or longer. Two bedrooms with queen size beds and a loft with two double size beds and a futon, also a pullout couch in the living room. One large bathroom. The cottage was completely renovated last year so everything is new. The 1000 sq ft cottage is fully equipped, brilliantly bright and very clean (all linens are washed after each stay and the cottage is completely cleaned), kitchen has a dishwasher, all you need to bring is your bags. There is lots of outside space for kids to play on the lawn or on the large sand area. There is a large back deck with a BBQ and a safe firepit area on the lawn.
The cottage is private. Close to Sir Sams and lots of hiking trails. 13 minutes away from the town of Haliburton with cute shops, restaurants and two big grocery stores. 5 minutes from a corner store with all the essentials including a LCBO
  • The beach was great for horse shoes & beach volleyball & frisbee golf. Lots of firewood for the campfire. Looks just like the pictures. Seeing a deer in the morning down by the water while having a coffee...bonus!

  • We had a great stay at this cottage! The brand new renovations were lovely and there was plenty of room for the 6 of us. The sand beach at the waterfront is fabulous and really made our week. Hailey is an excellent host who was easy to contact and communicate with and stayed in touch to make sure everything was good on our stay. Hopefully we will be able to visit here again!

    Christine2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I just spent 3 nights at Hailey's house and we couldn't have been more pleased. It was exactly as described and pictured. The house was very clean and came with everything we could possibly need. The property was beautiful and very peaceful. We felt very welcomed and we were very comfortable, like a home away from home. Our dog loved it also! We will not hesitate to go back! Thank-you Hailey!

    Michelle2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Hailey's place was exactly as pictured. The cottage was bright and cozy and we felt at home immediately. We had a couple of things that needed addressing (nothing major) and Hailey was on it right away and very communicative. The grounds are lovely and peaceful and the beach was also nice. Had to remove some goose droppings in order to access the water and the lake is best for boating rather than swimming. We saw quite a bit of wildlife there - deer, frogs, birds. My family and I stayed for a week and were quite comfortable in the bedrooms. Plenty of space and closets to store clothing. I would recommend this place to anyone and we hope to return next summer.

    Katherine2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was super cute. Very nice for 6 people to stay. Great waterfront and the stars are epic at night. Loved the paddle boat and the area is very quiet. Overall a great place to stay.

  • My family and I just spent a week at haileys cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at haileys cottage and would recommend it to other families. The cottage is located in a beautiful private setting. The beach is large and great for family activities. We had dogs with us and there was lots of room for them to run and roam. The pictures provided of the cottage were exactly as shown. The interior of cottage is comfortable and beautifully decorated. When the weather was overcast and cold the wood stove kept us warm. The bathroom was large and included a wonderful shower. There were lots of new windows and lighting. We also appreciated the access to wifi, Netflix and Apple TV. Lots of room at the cottage for parking and the decks were spacious for visiting. The cottage is a short drive to amenities including the dump, the lcbo and a short ten minute drive to Haliburton.

    Nikki2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Three of us stayed at the cottage for a week and enjoyed it immensely. It is very nice inside with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Very cool loft that would sleep several built above the living space. The couches in the living room were awesome - so big that I could stretch out completely (I'm 6'2). Multiple books were read and many naps were taken on there. The beach was nice and big, which would be great for kids. A note that the local wildlife enjoyed the beach as well and left 'gifts' each day. Probably if there are kids playing, they'll be less inclined to visit. The space was incredibly peaceful most of the time and we couldn't hear anyone or traffic with the windows open all day. Haliburton was only 15 minutes away (farmer's market on Tuesdays) with everything you'd want/need. Hailey was a great host, offering dining suggestions and ensuring the place was clean for us. Great communication and no issues whatsoever. We will definitely consider returning!

  • Beautiful location by the woods, very quiet and serene. The place is very clean and surprisingly up to date for a great combination of comfort and country side feel. Easily hosts 4 people. Nice little place for a vacation in the Algonquin area.

  • A very comfortable stay, hosts made it easy to communicate and organise checking in which helped our stay go smoothly.

    Lucy2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, quiet and in the middle of nature. The apartment is exactly as described, the beds are actually comfortable. Only thing that surprised me as well as leaving me scratching my head, was the lack of a stove, I never had to make pasta in the microwave. It worked but a stove woukd have been nice for frying eggs for breakfast. Loved having the bbcue for available. We used (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) for renting vacation properties many times, this is the first that has nice fluffy towels and toiletries, really appreciated that. Overall is a great place for a home away from home. I have no hesitation on recommending it.

    Gabriela2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived on a cold and rainy afternoon but the corner gas stove warmed us up nicely. The apartment was very clean and comfortable with little extras that you don't typically see in some rentals. I especially like the fresh coffee beans and grinder for our morning coffees. Nice touch. I highly recommend Forest View.

  • Our stay at Christine & Jessie's place was great! Chris is a wonderful host; communication with her was instant, and she made sure that we had everything we might need to stay comfortable. We were able to check-in later in the evening, which is great if you get stuck in traffic. Her place is lovely - spacious, clean, and very close to the lake. Chris let us use her canoe, and there is also a grill that you can use. The two kitties are very playful and love to cuddle.

  • This was our first ever Airbnb stay and we weren't sure what to expect. We were really impressed with this quaint, eclectic cottage which was so warm and welcoming. Rex came running to the door upon our arrival to greet us (my heart melted a little bit), we couldn't have felt more at home. Christine was kind, funny and gracious - the perfect hostess. It was so nice to wake up to a pot of hot coffee, muffins and fruit waiting for us. The bed is very comfortable and the room a nice size. We have already planned our next stay here! Thank you Christine, Miss T and Rex for a lovely stay. See you soon! Deb and Cam

  • Gorgeous cottage with a fantastic lake view! We enjoyed grilling on the deck, sitting by the bonfire to watch the sunset, and basking in the sunshine on the dock. The bright, clean kitchen was a joy to cook in, and the furnishings were comfortable and homey. Located right beside Highway 35 meant just a quick trip for groceries and great dining (check out Rhubarb Restaurant!) A lovely stay in a wonderful cottage get-away!

    Kim2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Kent's place is awesome. A perfect mix of modern and traditional cottage feel. A great place to relax. The lake is great for swimming. The highway can be noisy at times but not enough to be a problem. Kent was quick to answer all messages and very helpful. Would book again.

    Christopher2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage. The deck and fire pit were superb and the lake view was second to none. We thought the road would detract from the serenity but it didn't. Bashkung lake was warm and shallow for swimming and our pup had a great time running the beautiful beach. The canoe was great. The BBQ was huge and well maintained and of course the kitchen was immense. In all Kent and his partner were great to communicate and were very flexible with us. Wish we could have stayed longer!!

    Stephen2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is the most wonderful little cottage, we had a great time and could not be happier with how Kent treated and accommodated us!

    Marlene2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Kent's place was laid out and outfitted very well, and the view of the lake was amazing! His open concept home was spotless and made for great family meals. The road was quite close but makes it easier for accessing local spots. The gentleman next door made some great suggestions regarding attractions in the area (sculpture forest in Halliburton was awesome for our 4 year old daughter and doggies). We were one couple with a small child and dogs. A good time was had by all.

    Amy2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kent provided a clean and comfortable cottage for our family to enjoy. The kitchen was well stocked with all cooking pots and utensils so our meals were easy to prepare. It was easy to get to and Kent always responded to any questions in a timely manner. The beach was lovely and the water was clean. We brought our owns kayaks and canoe and enjoyed them on the fabulous lake. We would definitely rent again from Kent.

Marta and her husband are very very nice. Thanks for your excellent hospitality. I would definitely recommend to go there and it's simply a marvelous place to be!

  • Marta and Magnus are the most splendid of hosts. I don't think you will find a host who is as generous, kind and hospitable as them. If you have the chance to sample Marta's home made bread it is highly recommended. A five-star stay across the board for anyone who is trying to get away and unwind from a busy life. Must visit.

  • Our stay with Marta was great. The house is located in the woods with a breathtaking view of the lake. Rooms are clean with Marta's magical touch and every detail says "welcome". Marta is an amazing host. We would love to come back for another vacation.

  • Marta's place is just a dream!! A wooden glass house in the middle of dense forests, with a view of Eagle Lake. Marta and Magnus were so welcoming and their hospitality was amazing. They were very helpful and their breakfasts were great. I wish we could have stayed longer. This is the perfect location for a break and vacation. Conveniently located also in the area of Algonquin park, and many places to go canoeing, biking, walking, and skiing in the winter. Their house is right on the ski run. All I can say is this was a gold mine! I have stayed in many Airbnbs around the world, and this was one of the best!

  • I would highly recommend staying with Marta. The hosts are warm and hospitable. The location is excellent: close to hiking trails, lakes, and ski chalet. We had excellent beds and nice spaces to eat and relax.

  • Couldn't have had a better first Airbnb experience! It felt like I was visiting family, that's how welcoming our hosts were. Everything was clean and looked just as good, if not, better than advertised. I will definitely be returning often!

A cozy little cabin for two on Lake Kashagawigamog, minutes from Haliburton village.
Single-room rustic cabin on large and beautiful lakefront property available for rent. Can accommodate 2 people with the queen bed. Perfect for couples or close friends looking for a getaway in cottage country. A week's stay is ideal for taking a course at the Haliburton School of the Arts (part of Fleming College). We live on a quiet lake road that is between us and the lake. We are basically right on the lake as there are no houses possible on that side of the road. The cabin sits in front of and to the side of our house. The cabin's patio door and deck face away from our house giving you complete privacy from us. The driveway is shared with our neighbours and so there might be people walking along it as they have a rented cabin as well. Cabin includes bar fridge, microwave, BBQ, wifi, and fireplace. Large side deck gets lots of daytime sun. TV has AppleTV hooked up for Netflix, shomi and craveTV viewing (free) and movie rentals via iTunes (charges extra at checkout). Lake access included with sun deck and dock. Small beach nearby with a larger one a little walk down the road. We're near Pinestone Resort for golf, spa, restaurants and night life. Haliburton village is a short drive away: two large grocery stores, beer and liquor stores, Haliburton School of the Arts, Rail's End Gallery, restaurants and more. Breakfasts, snacks by the lake, lunches, or other meals can be arranged customized for guests. Charges vary depending on meal and menu. Haliburton is 2.5 to 3 hours North-East of Toronto. dimensions: 20'x16' + bathroom addition
  • Daniel greeted us warmly when we first arrived and gave us a tour of the cabin. He made sure to explain everything to us and let us know where we could find anything we might need, as well as made himself available to us if we had any further questions. The cabin itself was lovely, well-equipped and felt like a home. We had access to the dock as well as a small beach on the lake, and there was a deck on the cabin where we could spend time outside too. We very much enjoyed our stay there and would definitely return for another weekend getaway.

    Alia2014-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 3 nights at the cabin in late fall. It's a wonderful little cabin in a great spot just outside Halliburton. We found it easy to find and received a warm welcome from Daniel. The cabin was very clean and there was a fire set ready for us. The cabin was cosy and has a wonderful view of the lake. In fall season the colours are just magical. It's a great spot to explore Halliburton county. We didn't venture far - but the sculpture park in Halliburton is worth a visit. I can imagine the like would be great for swimming in the summer - we were not brave enough to try it in late October! Enjoy your peaceful stay!

    Jamie2016-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time on a three night visit. The guest house is very comfortable in the winter, and is just minutes from Halliburton. It had everything we needed for our stay, was very clean, and there were lots of great winter activities in the area. Daniel was a very effective communicator and helpful host, and we appreciated his generosity. Would love to come again.

    Oliver2016-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very relaxing stay. This is a perfect retreat for a couple, with just the right rustic charm. Daniel was an excellent communicator even to the point to send timely messages when the moon was just over the lake creating a mirror image on the calm waters. On one occasion we even had the pleasure of having deer on the front lawn. Great location and very close to trails and amenities but remote enough to provide an element of serenity. We loved our stay and will refer it to friends.

    Rui2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful (EMAIL HIDDEN)munication was great and Dan was so nice when we needed a few items. Despite the up and down weather, we enjoyed running along the road, paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing and even enjoyed a fire one night in the cabin. Thank you for a great long weekend.

    Hilary2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect cozy cabin for two with awesome hosts! Their home is right behind the cabin and they share a driveway with their neighbors to the left but you wouldn't even no they were there! Hosts respected our privacy but were there if you needed them. We did a lot of sight seeing and visited several waterfalls recommended by Dan. When at the cottage we spent most of our time at their private dock on the lake relaxing and swimming, walking the quiet cottage road and warming by the bonfire at night. Overall, an excellent experience!

    Joanne2016-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed one night and had a fantastic stay! The cabin is small, but cozy and very clean. It had everything we needed - we certainly appreciated the BBQ and patio. Even though it's located close to larger cottages, it's has enough privacy and you can walk just 2 minutes to access their pretty dock with chairs to relax. It was nice to communicate and meet Daniel, who was proactive and helpful. I would definitely go back for a fun cottage getaway weekend close to Haliburton.

    Christiane2014-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel greeted us with a smile and a quick but detailed tour of the amazing cabin we rented for the night. He was extremely approachable, kind and happy to help in any way while providing us with plenty of privacy. If you want a unique and authentic Canadian experience in a beautiful, comfortable and intimate setting this place is worth every penny. Would recommend to anyone!

2 bedroom cedar log cottage on over 250 beautiful acres. Very private. Many walking trails to explore and enjoy. Lovely deck on the cottage and a great dock at the lake. Canoe, paddle boat, and swimming raft. All just a 2 hour drive from Toronto.
Want a private lake with a cute Canadian cedar cottage? Enjoy outdoor walks, peaceful swims, and great fishing? This quiet, peaceful 2-bedroom cottage cannot be beat. Beds: 1 queen; 1 set bunk beds, 2 futons (living room & sun porch), an extra mattress, and a fold up baby crib. The cottage comfortably fits 4, but we have had 7 or 8 stay. We usually shut the cottage down for the winter at the end of December but may keep it open for special requests and extended stays. Please contact us well in advance if you are thinking of a winter getaway. We aim to reopen early April, weather depending.
This is rural Ontario cottage country at its best. When you are in the area, be sure to check out the one-of-a-kind Highlands Cinema and the Austin Heritage Saw Mill.
  • A beautiful cottage in an even more beautiful setting. Great hiking, secluded, we will be back for sure! Alan and Rosalie were great, attentive hosts!

    Kimberley2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing cottage! We just returned from our stay at Toran Mal - 4 adults and one dog and we can't wait to return. Alan and Rosalie are wonderful hosts, the booking process was easy, the cottage was easy to find. Alan stopped by upon arrival to answer any questions we might have had. The cottage is fully stocked, we had fires in the firepit and spent our days by the water and out on the lake. The hiking trails are beautiful and it really is a peaceful setting. We only saw the (friendly) neighbours a few times on the lake the whole time we were there. Listing is accurate and they leave a guide that explains using the bbq/trails/fireplace/etc.

    Sarah2015-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for 2 nights in April and lucked out with the most amazing sunny weather. This place is a secluded treasure by the lake - (I almost don't want to tell you how perfect it was because then it will be harder to be able to book again). There were 4 adults + 3 dogs and a ton of space! We spent most of our time outside on the incredible deck, on the dock/paddleboat fishing and by the campfire at night. We did a few of the hiking trails that were clearly marked and really beautiful - I could not believe how huge the property was! The dogs had a blast. Its very clean, has more amenities than you would need (BBQ, Canoe, Paddleboat, Fireplace, DVDs, Games, extra blankets, stereo) and its extremely peaceful - all you hear are the sounds of birds. It was hard to leave on Sunday and we are already trying to figure out when to go back.

    Christine2016-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • We're a small family, with dog, so the cottage and property are were perfect for us. We really appreciated the relaxed, private nature of the property and lake -- and the swimming is great. The network of trails across the extended acreage are an added bonus. We'll be back!

    Ian2016-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't ask for more welcoming, organized hosts. Great cottage in a beautiful private setting on a gorgeous lake with a dock. We will definitely look at a repeat visit next year.

    Robyn2016-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • We celebrated our first anniversary as well as our puppy's 1st birthday at Alan and Rosalie‎'s cottage last weekend and we couldn't have picked a better place!!! Our first criteria in looking for a cottage was somewhere pet friendly and‎ secluded as our Doberman takes his "guard dog" designation quite seriously and is quite the barker. He was in heaven!!! We explored the trails, which were delightful, and even took him out canoeing and paddle boating. I only wish the Swamp Trail was longer - that's how much I liked it! He was off leash the entire weekend, we never ran into anyone else, and he ran until he passed out on the rug. The cabin also comes stocked with a pretty wide selection of books, DVDs and VHS movies which was a nice touch. We enjoyed our stay so much that Joel has already decided that we should come back every year, and based on our pictures, my parents are hoping to go next month too! Thanks for sharing your cottage with us and for being such great hosts, Alan + Rosalie!! - Mel and Joel

    Joel2015-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • My dad and I had a great time at Alan & Rosalie's cottage. It's a wonderful space with a beautiful deck to enjoy the truly breathtaking surroundings. We also enjoyed the fire pit area, bbq, and heading down to the dock, of course. The lake is gorgeous, and we had lots of fun in the paddle boat! A very private, serene place to escape.

    Cathryn2016-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin very well done and cozy, nicely finished on the inside and very comfortable, kitchen well appointed, great walking trails and natural settings, secluded, peaceful, ..a great relaxing stay for us. Hosts have done quite a few upgrades to the cottage and the path to the lake...have left them a few suggestions for the exterior grounds should they wish to continue their work...all in all, an excellent experience and would definitely enjoy return visits.

  • Michele was a fantastic host. She was quick to respond to all of our inquiries and was very flexible with out check in and out times. The cottage was perfect for a couples getaway, beautiful spot right on the lake. The proximity to Algonquin park made for a great weekend of hikes. We were a bit concerned about privacy as there was a stress on close neighbours, but we barely saw anyone and did not intrude on the peacefulness of our stay. 10/10 would recommend and look forward to staying again soon.

    Natasha2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Michele was wonderful. She made sure that we had everything we needed including bath towels. She also provided information on nearby hiking trails and pointers on where to go. The equipment and facilities were clean and modern. The place was close to everything we needed.

Beautiful cedar home with long deck across the front, barbecue, seating. New stone fire pit. Located on a hill in 3 acres of forest, with a 60 second walk to two waterfronts - the Gull River and Maple Lake. Excellent fishing, swimming, with a canoe and kayak provided.
Pine Hill cottage is rustic but is located near three small towns, so is close to amenities. It reflects the beauty of the Canadian Shield and has several 100 year old pine trees.
There are cottages on either size of Pine Hill but with space and trees, there is lots of privacy. Canopy Lane is a lovely place to walk if you want to see the other houses in the area.
  • The cottage was gorgeous. Beautiful deck with with lots of chairs and seating areas. Small fire place just at the bottom of the master staircase outside. Had plenty of fires. Laurel provided wood for them. We did a great hike along North Shore and went to a nearby look out point. Went fishing in a canoe which was provided, caught a nice pike down the river. Has full cable TV, got to watch the Blue Jays win the ALDS 2016! We had a wonderful time and we do it again in the future. Laurel was very responsive and a pleasure to work with.

    Tyler2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay. The cottage is well equipped and very clean. We liked taking out the canoe and the kayak that was available. It was very relaxing.

    Fergus2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was conveniently located a few minutes off of the Provincial highway. Several windows were open to allow the cool breeze to flow through and keep it from heating up. While we brought our own kayaks, we did use her canoe dolly to help carry them down the path to the dock area. We enjoyed seeing some deer down by the path and even saw a small black bear one morning on Stanhope Road. The cottage was very spacious, clean and had most everything we needed. It would have been nice if wifi was available but we knew it wasn't going in. Also, it would have been nice to have a screen door in the master bedroom. We would definitely stay here again.

    Phil2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage in the middle of nature. It's a little walk to the lake but it's worth it! The cottage was just as listed, super clean and spacious. It had everything you could ever need :) Just be careful to follow the directions given by the host. The address listed on the site is not accurate.

    Aaron2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place for 5 tired midwives...!! The cabin is exactly as described and as the photos show you: Very comfortable and a beautiful location, with your own private dock near the lake. Ofcourse we used Laurel's canoe to go out paddling which was a lot of fun. Shops are at a short driving distance and the Rhubarb restaurant was a good recommendation Laurel gave us. Thank you Laurel for being great host!!

    Suze2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Pleasant cottage located in a pastoral and small forest clearing at 100 metres of a junction between the river and the Maple Lake. The house was very clean with all comfort and equipment needed (just a hair-dryer is missing). The area in front of the cabin was a little 'jungle" and would have deserved to be clean. This raining summer causes dug-out areas to become stagnant pools that turn into breeding grounds for mosquitoes. So it was difficult to stay outside the cottage without a protective armor and the beautiful path going to the river/lake was a mosquitoes minefield! The pontoon access to the lake is a marshy ground and you have to think to bring your rubber boots ! A canoe (3 places) and a kayak (1 place) are available and paddling on the river or the lake is very pleasant. Fishing rods are not provided. One more Kayak would have been appreciated because we are a family of five persons. Ducks, geese and deer are observable around.

Year round cottage. Very private, direct waterfront. South facing property for all day sun, on a quiet lake, so you can relax and enjoy the call of the loons. Fresh linens, towels, blankets all provided. Propane for the bbq, firewood, even coffee is all provided for you so you just bring clothes and food! 2 bedrooms on the main floor and a spacious living room with views of the lake. Large recroom in the basement, with a 3rd bedroom and a pull-out couch, and more great views of the lake.
No wifi means the kids will have to go resort to fishing, swimming, boating, catching frogs and listening to the loons. Large 3/4 acre property, with plenty of trees between you and the neighbours means excellent privacy. 15 minutes to the nearest Tim Hortons, grocery store or LCBO. Direct waterfront, with a good sized dock so you can sit and enjoy the all day sunshine, or swim off the dock or take the canoe out. 2 Fire pits with plenty of firewood (provided), wraparound deck with patio set and a BBQ. Within minutes of great ATV/Snowmobile trails, and Haliburton county lets you ride on the road so no trailering to the trail required. Search Haliburton ATV association or OFSC for trail maps and permit requirements. 2 LED tvs with built in dvd player, and a game console 80 built-in games. 16' canoe, child sized kayak, and 14' rowboat are all yours to use, adult and child sized life jackets on site too.
Minnicock lake is a unique lake inhabited entirely by cottagers who decided long ago to keep the lake pristine, private and quiet. The minimum size requirement for a lot here is 200', so all cottages have exceptionally good privacy. Naturalized shorelines make for much nicer scenery during a canoe ride, and no speedboats means plenty of wildlife lives on the lake too.
  • Greg & Ciara go out of their way to make you feel welcome. This place is very roomy and cozy at the same time. Very good communication with quick responses. This cottage/house has everything. With us both having busy lifestyles we actually got a chance to relax.

  • Greg and Ciara are wonderful hosts and everything was exactly as listed only better! We enjoyed our time immensely both on the water, around the fire, and exploring the surrounding area! I must agree with other reviewers that the mattress is exceptional, it was hard to leave in the mornings! If you want the peace and tranquility of an "off the grid" like escape while still having all of the comforts and amenities at your finger tips to ensure relaxation this is the place for you! Thanks again, we would definitely consider coming back in the years to come!

  • Gena's place was exactly what we were looking for: cozy, warm and secluded. Gena was the perfect host and only made herself available when we needed her. She graciously cooked us a warm breakfast one morning and on the second morning she delivered us breakfast. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

    Jennifer2016-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a weekend getaway here and loved Gena's suite. It's a good size, with a fireplace, nice little kitchenette, and spacious living room. The breakfasts were delicious! We hiked in Algonquin Park and visited the Wolf Centre. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this B&B to anyone who would like a private, quiet and cozy place to stay.

    Tara2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancé and I had an amazing experience staying at Gena's bnb. From the moment we arrived we felt right at home. Gena made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. The bnb was exactly what we were hoping it would be, peaceful, cozy and relaxing. The double sided fire place was amazing! Made me want one for our home. The bnb was spotless and everything was layed out perfectly. Perfect location and close to our two destinations. The Wolf Center and Rhubarb restaurant which I both highly recommend:)

    Ainslie2016-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gena's. The suite was well stocked with everything that we needed during our stay. Her rhubarb pie was a definite highlight. The suite is cosy and inviting and the setting is gorgeous. I especially enjoyed a lovely walk with Gena's sweet dog Nika. We only wish that we had had more time to stay and explore this beautiful area!

    Rosie2015-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay in to relax. There is a lot of room around the house to hang out in, Gena makes a tasty breakfast, and the house is overall very comfortable. The kitchen is a bit small if you want to have a cook-out but fine for coffee and breakfast. We were there for two nights but would have loved to stay longer!

  • What a treat staying at Reflection B&B in Haliburton! My wife and I spent two days of our romantic getaway at Gena's place. The atmosphere was warm, cozy and inviting, and we enjoyed the privacy of the self-contained suite. We really loved the double sided fireplace which Gena kept well stocked with firewood.

  • Mary was truly the hostess with the mostess. We were welcomed to 40 Winks by Mary and she was warm and hospitable. When we arrived in the home there was a large message wishing my partner a happy 30th birthday. It was a lovely gesture. Mary made us feel like we were part of a community, suggesting that we go to the Legion Breakfast down Loop Road. Which we did, which was lovely. (The breakfast is every 2nd Sunday of the month.) There is no detail of the house that Mary hasn't left out in a binder in the living room. I suggest trying her Chai Hot Chocolate recipe.

  • Came to 40 Winks for my 22nd Birthday to reconnect with friends and spend time on dark lake which is a 4 minute walk from the cottage. Rented from Deep Roots Adventure who are absolutely fabulous as well. Couldn't be more happy. Mary and John were so accommodating and nice. Would highly recommend this bnb and would definitely come back here!

  • Awesome accomodations. Mary and John thought of everything to make our stay very enjoyable. Amazing location for geocaching as very central to tons of caches. Highly recommend you wont be disappointed.

  • Mary and John's house is magnificent. Absolutely adorable, in a quiet and picturesque area. We only stayed for one night, but next time, we're definitely staying a little longer!

  • Stop looking at other places and just book this! Mary and John are amazing hosts. Very thorough with communications and providing info before we arrived. It goes a notch up when you actually arrive there. There's a book with information on where things are in the house, local restaurants, hikes, beaches, etc. Everything is well-thought out - from beach towels to a cooler to take to the beach. Whenever we lamented that we forgot to bring something, Mary and John had it already available in the cottage. Highly recommended.

  • Mary and John were super nice, we had a warm welcome and the stay was a lot of fun! 40 winks was a great experience and I would reccomend it with all my heart. Thank you Mary and John!

  • I was in town for a curling clinic. My husband and 3yr old and 6yr old came along as well. Mary set out age appropriate toys (stuffed animals, playdough, books, highchair and food toys, trucks, etc). She is always easily accessible by email and phone or is right across the street at the general store. The house is clean and well equipped. The kids loved access to the upstairs by ladder or stairway. Mary emailed us in advance with some suggestions for daytime activities for the children while I was busy at curling. (Library program and skating at the arena). There are playgrounds close by as well. The curling club is within a very short walking distance. We quite enjoyed our weekend. Also, Mary had kindling and marshmallows for us so we had a little campfire in the backyard. The kids quite enjoyed it.

    Nicole2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay! John and Mary are wonderful hosts. The house had everything you could possibly need. Beautiful scenery and lots to do. Great location. Be sure to try the restaurant just down the road. Thanks again Mary and John!

  • Evan has a beautiful house and is a great host. We really enjoyed our stay. He made us a big breakfast, took us for a moose tracking hike in his huge backyard… Pity that we only see the footprint of a moose, wish we spent more time exploring the area. It is definitely more worthy than stuck in the traffic for three hours on the way to Algonquin. Look forward to going back

  • Michelle and Evan made our break into the best experience possible. We a mother and daughter stayed here for two nights . To just say Michelle and Evan are the best hosts is not doing them right. They were the best way to start a holiday. My daughter works in Toronto but is now hooked to places like this. This is ultimate serenity. Hope to visit hete again Constantia and Rhea Netherlands

  • This is really a hidden gem! The rooms were super clean and spacious, and the view is truly breathtaking. Evan and Michelle are wonderful hosts and did everything to make us feel at home. We loved Michelle's homemade apple muffins and chocolate cookies and really enjoyed the walk on their property and working together in their vegetable garden. The parshnips, mushrooms, herbs and lettuce we brought home with us were delicious!

  • Great hosts. Michelle was extremely kind and we will definitely stay there if we go back to the area. The breakfast is fantastic and the view is very nice.

  • Evan and Michelle were excellent hosts and made our stay very comfortable. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The accommodations were super clean, spacious and bright with amazing natural views over their wonderful property. Thanks again Evan and Michelle!

  • I searched for an accommodation for one day near the Algonquin Park. What I found was so much better than the park. If you are looking for pure nature you have to stay here. I finally stayed 3 nights because it was so good. I was allowed to take the canoe and paddle over the lakes in front of the house and Evan gave me a tour through his area. It was priceless. Furthermore I saw a wolf at the first morning, unbelivable. Evan and Michelle are great hosts. They will help you with everything and I will definitely stay there again during my next visit in canada. Thanks for the great experience, that was the reason I came to Canada

  • Evan and Michelle are the best hosts you could wish for! We had such a relaxing and fun time with them! The house is very clean, the breakfast great and we loved to wake up in a beautiful place like this. It was so much fun going hiking through the property with Evan, getting vegetables from the garden or feeding the pigs! We would have loved to stay longer and would recommend Evans and Michelles place to everyone! Thank you both again for the wonderful time! Max & Romy

  • Brigitte is a wonderful host, everything in the house was exactly as described in the posting. My wife and I had a wonderful time and we will undoubtedly be staying with Brigitte again in the near future.

    Alex2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Stillhome was amazing! Brigitte and Marc were great hosts and they helped us with everything they could. We were able to take their dog Kiva for a walk and she was lovely too. The place is beautiful, very clean and has pretty views...I highly recommend to stay here.

    Berta2017-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • My 12 year old son and I had a great stay as my son had a snowboard race at the nearby ski hill, Sir Sams. We were greeted by Brigitte and her dog, Kiva when we arrived. My son was happy to play with the dog outside even before going in. :-) The place was lovely, warm, spacious, very clean and we felt very welcome. The room itself 'Amethyst' was beautiful and very comfortable with two beds. The location is close to the ski hill - less than 10 minutes drive, and a short drive to Haliburton village. I highly recommend this place!

  • Excellent hosts, lovely clean place and very friendly dog. Highly recommended!

  • I booked this place because I had a weekend retreat close by, but I wish I stayed longer. This is a really great place if you want to visit an "off the beaten path" in Ontario. Lots of nature, open skies full of stars (I was lucky enough to stay there one night when there was a meteor shower) and the house itself is very comfortable with a kitchen stocked full of snack. Brigitte is incredibly kind and generous and the other owner Kiva the Dog is super cute and friendly if you need a happy dog to relax you more. I hope to book again and stay for a longer trip. Thanks Brigitte!

  • We highly recommend Stillhome! Great hosts...warm welcome and comfortable place to stay!

  • Brigitte is a great host, and we had fun playing with her dog kipa, and good conversations in front of Bon fire. The room is very nice as well the shared living room( with other 2 guests) and dinning room are artfully decorated. I highly recommend her place. I definitely think it is a great place for weekend getaway (I live in Toronto-3 hour's drive)

***Special offers considered for couples Or 2 people or less*** My place is close to big hawk marina, little hawk marina, Elvin Johnson park/beach on Halls lake, Krista's bait shop, walking trails, Oakview restaurant . You’ll love my place because of its location, and nature feel. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and Dogs (no cats please).
Private 1.5 acre lot boarded by trees. Deeded river access down the road. (Good for tubing, or kayaking), Beaches, parks, and boat launches all around. Fully equipped kitchen, TV, Dvd player, xbox 360. Muskoka room and Barbecue, wood stove(winter use) outdoor fire pit. (no Internet but recently installed shaw satellite in spring.
  • Ty was a great host, very communicative! The cabin was exactly as it looks in the pictures/was advertised. We really enjoyed making fires in the wood stove and even did a fire in the fire pit. The cottage was very tidy and clean. We had fun snowshoeing at the historical log chute just down the road.

    Eleanor2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed at Tyler's cottage for the long weekend with the family. Nice, rustic cottage with lots of space inside and out! Surrounded by trees and lots of privacy. Tyler wasn't around while we were there, but he was great with messaging and made sure we knew everything we needed to know and answered all our questions. There was hot water for our showers, clean washroom, everything we needed in the kitchen to make our meals, king sized beds, comfy couches and flat screen TV. Although there was no cable TV, you can get the Northern Ontario CTV channel for the news and some shows to watch if you're staying in, along with watching movies/dvds. It got a bit chilly at night while we were there, but the heating in the cottage works amazingly and it was nice and cozy inside. We sat by the huge fire pit out back on the comfy outdoor couch at night. There are Marinas and boat rentals at both Big and Little Hawk Lakes which are a short drive away and a bait shop up the street. We rented a fishing boat and went fishing on Little hawk Lake. Caught mostly bass but there are trout in the lake as well. There are also some nice hiking trails in the area. We hiked around the log chute which was really cool to see. You can also fish there off the bridge and around that area. We drove about 15-20 mins to Minden Hills where there are more nice trails, river rapids, Boshkung Brewery where you can buy beer by the growler, and we had a really delicious lunch at a restaurant called Rhubarb (totally worth going to if you're looking for a meal at a nice restaurant, they use a lot of local ingredients). Thank you Tyler! We had a wonderful time!

    Sylvia2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great time at Ty's place - pictures don't do it justice, tons of space, well equipped and the muskoka room was awesome at night and when it rained. Not a lot of immediate access to a lake/beaches, but definitely a woodsy/secluded vibe, some nice trails and the log chute within walking distance and plenty of stuff to do.

    Chris2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Well equipped cosy cottage. Great place to spend the weekend with friends. Large fire pit outside and confortable couches inside, perfect to relax after hiking.

    Julien2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Tyler's place is perfect for a getaway from Toronto. The cottage has almost everything you could need: from washing machine and dryer to oven and bbq... even a fire pit! We were 4 adults, 2 kids (3 and 6 yo) and a dog, and we all had loads of fun. Tyler left for us a lot of brochures about activities and restaurants in the area, and quickly answered all our doubts. The cottage is conveniently located in the middle of the Algonquin highlands, so there are a lot of lakes to fish and trails to hike within a few minutes by car.

    Irene2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great cabin. Perfect for a get away with friends or fishing trip. Truly has everything you need in a cabin. And Ty was very helpful the entire time. I would definitely consider renting this cabin again!

    Yaakov2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Me and five friends had a great time visiting Tyler's cottage! It was spacious, cozy, and just the right amount of rustic. We canoed on a nearby lake, the firepit was amazing, and on the day it rained we played Nintendo64 and watched some movies that were around. Home was clean and totally bug-free, despite being located in the middle of the forest. We would visit again! Thanks, Ty!

    Sarah2016-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • This spacious yet cozy cottage is located on a quiet road near a river. It is equipped with all the amenities as described. Having a campfire in the backyard was fun. The cottage is close to a few hiking trails - wish we have discovered them earlier! Ty was very easy to communicate with. I would definitely love to come back to Ty's place when visiting this area again!

Very private lakeside chalet. Many windows and two opening skylights. Deck is high in the treetops. Swimming is excellent. Bass, pickerel and muskie fishing. Not suitable for toddlers or those with physical infirmities due to stairs.
The Aerie is a family cottage with excellent amenities. It isn't a full time rental - we only rent a fraction of the year. You live at treetop height, out of sight of the neighbours. Very airy and light. A huge vinyl collection, extensive library including many nature books, great walking and hiking, outdoor fire pit, great swimming, two kayaks and one canoe. The peace and quiet. The views. The birds and flying squirrels.
The peace and quiet. The views. The birds and flying squirrels. Beautiful lakefront. Treetop views and privacy.
  • Doug was great gave us all the information we needed. Cottage was perfect for us me and my boyfriend was looking for a nice quiet week and weekend which was exactly what we got. Great water view and great lake for canoeing and kayaking. The cottage was big and full of a welcoming vibe.

  • Our stay at Douglas's cottage was peaceful and relaxing. It's a great spot to unplug and be surrounded by nature. Douglas welcomed us and showed us around. Plenty of firewood and drinking water were provided. The cottage had everything we needed. It was clean, cozy, secluded, and close to the water. An impressive vinyl collection provided the soundtrack to our week. It was exactly what we were looking for and would definitely stay again if Douglas would have us. This place is beautiful. Thank you!

  • This place was great. Private, clean, and exactly what you want from a cottage. Very cozy and beautiful views. It rained the whole time we were there and we still had fun. Douglas is great and very easy to get a hold of.

    Maranda2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • The "Aerie" is beautiful and well maintained with all the amenities you need and more. The music and literary collections are outstanding covering numerous genres, I wish we had more time to enjoy it! We spent most of our time just relaxing on the dock and my husband did some fishing off of it, he even caught a nice sized pike! Having a canoe and a couple of kayaks available was definitely a bonus; Lake Salerno is beautiful to paddle on and the waters were very calm, it was even warm enough to swim in in mid September. The red squirrels and chipmunks provided great entertainment in the daytime as they busily collected pinecones and chattered incessantly at each other as well as us. In the evenings we would sit at the firepit and enjoy the quieter sounds of nature. Doug was more than helpful and his instructions were very detailed and concise. He responded quickly to questions that I had and let us know to contact him with the landline that was in the cottage if we needed anything. We would definitely recommend "The Aerie" and its host Doug giving them both a 5/5! We can't wait to visit again sometime!

    Sandy 2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Had an absolutely amazing time there. Spent 3 nights on our honeymoon. Only complaint is we wished we had more time there! Great host, made sure everything was okay, that we found the place without any issues. Cant wait for our next trip up there

    Danielle2017-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time at Douglas's cottage! The lake was clean and warm and the surrounding scenery so beautiful. The cottage was everything we wanted - we especially loved the extensive vinyl record collection! The kitchen is very well stocked too.. So many different ways to make coffee! Thanks Doug! We would love to come back :)

    Chris2015-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing cabin on a gorgeous, clear lake. It's quiet and secluded without being too remote. It's ideal for relaxing, kayaking, and getting away from the noise of daily life. Douglas is the perfect host who provided detailed instructions on how to get to the cabin as well as take care for it. He was communicative, responsive and generous with his time. Like the other reviews say, the photos do not do this spot justice! And the large vinyl collection is a treat. I would highly recommend this listing to anyone who wants the quintessential Canadian cabin on a lake experience.(URL HIDDEN)would definitely return to Doug's cabin for a summer getaway.

    Leigh2015-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage if you want a vacation with family or friends. Secluded area with nature all around you. The large record collection, books and games provided entertainment throughout the stay. The host, Douglas was very helpful and kind enough to show around the house even late a night. He communicated with us beforehand and did an extra work to make sure our stay was good.

Minutes from Sir Sam's ski hill and Minden White Water Pan Am Games Reserve. 4 huge bedrooms with 3 queen and one double bed. Sleeps up to 12 people with futons and sofas. Master bedroom with en suite jacuzzi. Wood fired sauna.Fire pit.
Beach is accessible by foot or by car. The cottage is isolated - no neighbours, wildlife to your door, yet minutes to stores, restaurants and other amenities. Your own sandy beach is private, shaded, great to watch the kids play in the water, for swimming or boating. If you're into power boats, there is a public boat launch about five minutes away and a public swimming beach.
  • This cottage was definitely as advertised - apart from there being a hot tub. There is, however, a jacuzzi in the master suite. The cottage is spacious, and well-equipped, and Colin was very quick to answer any emails. Everything you need is provided at no extra charge - including all kitchenware, linens, towels, etc. One thing to note is that he isn't joking when he says the driveway is steep. Especially in winter, don't attempt to drive down all the way, unless you have winter tires and all wheel drive... unless you happen to be cottaging with a tow-truck driver. I highly recommend this cottage for the comfort and the scenery.

    Ariel2017-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • AMAZING STAY. A very large group of my friends and I stayed at Colin's cottage this last weekend (October) and it was absolutely amazing. Pros: - Lots and lots of space! - Sauna was amazing - Internet was great! 10 people on it and super fast. - Lots of things to do - Beautiful setting, very private but close to town. Cons: - There was no hot tub as listed in the amenities. - Had to drive all garbage to the dump. Not a huge deal but a bit annoying. - Wood was wet, and there wasn't a lot of it. If you want to have a lot of fires/saunas bring your own dry wood. - The walk down to the water was EXTREMELY steep and slippery. I would recommend driving down. Overall this weekend was a huge hit. We will defiantly be back again. Thanks Colin!

  • Great View. Spacious cottage. Recommend.

    Meicheng2015-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was not maintained. It was dirty, dusty, and there were rodent droppings on the floor, kitchen counters and the matresses on the the bed. Also, the beds were broken. We spends hours cleaning the cottage before it was habitable. The host did not return our calls and emails (with pictures attached) until the next day, after we had already cleaned his cottage for him! I will not recommend this cottage.

    Frank2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Colin was a wonderful host, and was very accessible before, during, and after our stay. He provided directions and instructions on everything we needed and was very helpful about the place and the surrounding locations. There were a few issues with the dryer that he explained and we rectified. The cottage itself is in a great location for a private gathering and provides plenty of room for multiple guests. Just an FYI to future guests, the pull-out couch, and futon were not the most comfortable, so some of out guests brought air mattresses or foam covers to use. But the overall stay was fantastic and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

    Danielle2016-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great house with lots of space! Only a few minutes away from Sir Sam's.

We had a very comfortable stay and loved the location. It's not a waterfront property, however, there is access to a public beach nearby and the host helped us arrange a canoe/kayak rental and a day pass at Sir Sams's inn which was a huge benefit. • A good place for relaxing some days.

    Maximilian2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • The place was impeccably clean and tastefully decorated. Margaret was very welcoming and treated us to complementary tea, coffee, and wine. The cabin is located in a community, but the backyard was quiet, especially in comparison with downtown Toronto. The backyard looks out to the woods with a marsh, so we could hear frogs singing their evening songs. The location is relatively remote, yet convenient; grocery store and fast food not far (by car). The area is good for hiking and close to a ski hill. I would love to return next year.

    Julia2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret's place was perfect for us. We were in the area for a wedding so the location was great. We had privacy but we were also close to the action. The suite was well equipped and my favourite .. Very cozy. Margaret made us feel so welcome. She was there when we needed her but was never 'in our faces'. One tiny nitpick-- we couldn't get the Keurig to work even though we followed the directions. Maybe we just needed to unplug it to reset it? I do that at home and it works. We highly recommend this little spot.

    Barbara2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Rick and I visited Margaret for a much needed weekend getaway. The one bedroom apartment is so charming with a mix of antiques, quirky accessories, and other cozy accents with contemporary comforts, so warm and private we felt at home immediately. Margaret is the perfect hostess. She recognized that arriving late and knowing Haliburton is locked up tight at 9pm we would appreciate all the more a cup of tea, and better a glass of wine, to go with the best orange marmalade and fresh bread I've ever had. The location is perfect. just off the main road enabling us to enjoy Haliburton's distinctive quiet, the fireflies, the many stars, and to breathe the unique fresh air and pine. The location is ideal for visitors who plan to bicycle or antique shop, or just hike the Highlands. The whole experience was extraordinarily therapeutic, happy, and relaxing. As an aside - the bed was so comfortable and the room itself was like a page out of Pioneer history 100 years ago, yet the bathroom was unbelievably contemporary and gorgeous! The delightful apartment's layout is perfect; private and appointed in a way so you can't help but feel pampered and comfortable straightaway. We were so happy to be there. Of course we will return. Thank you Margaret for an absolutely lovely experience. See you again soon. Rick and Tracey

  • I, along with my friends, stayed at Margaret's cottage. Her place is beautifully decorated and very apt if you like to have a calm and peaceful time away from noisy city life. Margaret was very helpful - she welcomed us with wine and also gave us homemade delicious cake. Her place has a good backyard where you can chill, barbecue, etc. Her place is pretty close to a nearby kayaking / canoeing spot and also close the Haliburton town (few mins drive) which is a good town to explore. We look forward to stay at her place again soon. Thanks Margaret.

  • Margaret's place is a wonderful escape from the city. She was extremely helpful, kind and welcoming. Before we arrived she had printed out local events that she thought would interest us as well as a map of the local area and even welcomed us with a bottle of wine and snacks. When we asked her about Kayak rentals she arranged for us to rent from a local resort near her home so we didn't have to go into Halliburton and also let us use her BBQ and fresh lettuce from her garden for our dinner on Saturday. Her home is an amazing oasis in the woods and I would highly recommend this place to any person or couple looking to get away for a weekend - or longer. Thank you Margaret for an amazing weekend, we hope to come back soon!

  • My partner and I visited the Wine Cellar for the Canada day long weekend. The place is very charming and well decorated. Margaret was extremely accommodating and made us feel very welcomed. The Wine Cellar had everything we needed, and anything extra Margaret provided us without hesitation. We really enjoyed our stay.
