  • Lovely cozy little cabin with outstanding views and everything you need for a stay. We only stayed one night but wish we had booked more! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend - thanks very much.

  • Great place, amazing views!

  • I really loved this place and the town Highly recommend as a place to stay if traveling to death valley.. It is just on the other side of death valley. I saw some AMAZING views on that drive that I wouldn't have if I wasn't heading to Lone Pine. I also stopped to get dinner at their cute downtown strip at seasons which was in the hosts guidebook. Really cute comfortable place and I would go again!

  • Perfect location for Death Valley and Mt. Whitney excursions if you’re trying to go for both. The cabin is in a quiet and secluded area and perfect for 2 people. The couch will fold out to accommodate 1-2 more if needed. Kitchen is fully equipped and the bathroom is also good. The only downside was the hot water situation - it seems to be just enough for a real quick shower for two people. It’s workable if you shower very fast. Overall, a great place to stay!

  • We had a great time visiting Eastern Sierra staying at Kevin's cabin. Everything was great about the place.

    Kien2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfy home to relax and get a hot shower in. Beautiful drive there from Death Valley.

  • This was our second stay at this cozy cabin just outside of lone pine. Great access to trails, beautiful view of the mountains. We enjoyed ending our evenings with old movies that were filmed locally. We’ll be back!!

  • Quiet and cozy cabin. Great for a getaway into the Eastern Sierras. Beautiful Mountain View’s from the windows and conveniently close to town. A great place for a couple, solo traveler, or a small family.

Offered here is a gorgeous modern retreat situated amidst three acres of rock spires, huge boulders and stunning views. Across the street is open space and hiking trails where you can wander and explore for hours. It's a magical place with artistic flare and utter serenity, close to Mt. Whitney. The house offers sprawling decks, Wi-Fi, Wolf range, gas BBQ and gas fire pit.
The house is a pristine prefab modern home on three secluded acres set amidst rock spires and huge boulders from the Jurassic, between 140-200 million years ago. It's located at 4,600' elevation where spectacular desert meets the eastern escarpment of the Sierra Nevada. The elegance and comfort you'll find inside make for a welcome contrast to the rugged surroundings. Creature comforts include a new heating and A/C system and electric fireplace. All glass is double-pane. The home is wrapped by a sprawling deck - every room has a sliding door leading outside, so indoor and outdoor living flow together. The flooring is hardwood floors except in the bedrooms, and the deck is made of a soft synthetic material that you can walk on in bare feet. The bedrooms and living areas are well-appointed with stylish furniture. The kitchen has a Wolf range, dishwasher, microwave and coffeemaker and French press. There's a separate laundry room with washer and dryer. Outside features a gas fire pit and built-in gas BBQ. The home has free WI-FI and a large-screen TV with a Roku device for Netflix or Amazon streaming, and a collection of DVD's (cable TV isn't available in Lone Pine). As you look out from any room your gaze will be captivated by magnificent rocks and towering mountains - the Inyos to the east and Sierra to the west. Across the street is parkland. There's fishing withing a 5 minute drive. Whitney Portal is only 20 minutes away. Some of the most beautiful rock formations are those on and around the property. From the front deck you see Whale Rock, a spire that looks like a breaching whale. At the edge of the rear deck you’re standing beneath Massive Rock, an 80-foot monolith. Stroll up the hill and you can sit on a boulder and look at Mt. Whitney, highest point in the 48 states.
Amazing location in the Alabama Hills above Lone Pine. Across the street from parkland. Great trout fishing within five minutes. Only 15 minutes from Whitney Portal - perfect base camp for a mountain trip. Close to Movie Flat, where hundreds of films were made.
  • Doug is an amazing host! Quickly answers questions and gives great local tips for things to do/see. His place is one of the most thoughtful Airbnb’s we’ve experienced. The scenery is absolutely amazing and amidst these trying times in our country, during COVID-19 my husband and I were able to feel like we could get away and still feel safe.

    Trish2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Dougs place was not only beautiful, but it’s location in the rock formations was a beautiful back drop for the perfect place for our family of 5. It was very clean, open, bright, and comfortable. It was also nicely decorated with views from every room. The wrap around deck was perfect to enjoy the views of both the Inyo and Sierra Nevada Mtns., along with the amazing rock formations. The deck was safe enough to let our 2 yr old twins to run around and we could step off the deck and let the kids climb the boulders. We felt it was less like an Airbnb and more like a friends home. Everything was well stocked from kitchen essentials to extra towels. The communication with Doug was prompt and he had great recommendations. We feel lucky to have found this place!

  • Perfect retreat. Quiet and private. So close to the beautiful Alabama Hills. Being able to bring my dog was such a great bonus. Loved this place!

  • This is a great house...very clean, very comfortable and in a spectacular setting. The house is across the road from a really gorgeous hike, and very close to town. The location is very private and very beautiful. And Doug was very responsive and helpful. We loved it!

    Mark2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described. We expect to return here - though it tends to be booked much of the time.

    Brian2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Dougs place will knock your socks off. Views of the Eastern Sierras from the property make this a brilliant stay. House is spotless and we used the well-equipped kitchen to make every meal during our time here. Late afternoon snacks by the fire pit watching the sunset were followed by dinner in the dining space with stunning boulder views. The bathtub in the master suite with skylight & views a must-do. We went to the local visitors center and were helped by a very knowledgeable guide-hiker—there is a great walk in the Alabama Hills a short drive from the house. Amazing country. We hope to come back to Doug’s place!

  • A cozy cottage with a touch modern amenities. It was very nice to have the entire space to ourselves. But there is no central heat, so in the wintertime be sure to turn on the two electric furnaces and use provided extra blankets.

  • We found this little gem through the BringFido app. This was our first trip with our rescue dog and the cottage was a perfect getaway. Robert was helpful in getting us settled in and the cottage was cozy, clean, quaint and quiet. It has a large yard with plenty of room for play! So happy we found this and we will definitely be back.

Enjoy privacy and soothing views of the forest from this cabin in Sequoia Crest. Wander down easy trails among giant sequoias, climb 9115' Jordan Peak or enjoy Poppy Lake. Sequoia Crest is surrounded by the Giant Sequoia National Monument located in the Alder Creek Grove of Giant Sequoias. It is home to the Stagg Tree the 4th largest tree in the world. Sequoia National Park is a three hour drive. Price is for two guests. Each additional is $15 a night Fri. and Sat. are $210. Co tax included.
Our cabin home has a classic vaulted ceiling, with a wall of windows looking into the forest of evergreens. Lower level den with TV. We are a three hour drive from Sequoia/Kings' Canyon national parks. Guests are able to enjoy the entire cabin. If you don't bring your groceries from home shop in Porterville. The closest restaurants are 20 minutes or more away. Due to our wilderness location your cell phone probably won't work. The cabin has a land line phone and Spectrum TV and internet. We may meet guests when they arrive to answer questions, but will be heading to our home on the coast that day. You can call us if you have additional questions. Sequoia Crest (elevation 6800') is a unique community of private homes (103) within the Alder Creek Giant Sequoia Grove, home of the 5th largest tree in the world (Alonzo Stagg Tree). Sequoia Crest is surrounded by the Giant Sequoia National Monument. Private Poppy Lake is 1/2 mile away. Trails lead to Hossack Meadow, Alder Creek & the Jordan Peak trail. We are not near Sequoia or Kings Canyon national parks. You must use your own vehicle to get there. There are miles of trails to walk and hike. Bring your snow shoes or cross country skis in winter. The cabin key will be found in a combo lock box, located on the railing opposite the garage side-door. After you book, we'll email the code. We will not be at the cabin, but are just a phone call away. There are 103 cabins, but only 18 full time residents in Sequoia Crest. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Only a few cabins are rented out, so most people you may meet will be cabin owners. You'll need your car to get there and your legs to hike. If you walk the 2 mile loop around Sequoia Crest's paved streets at sunset, you'll see Porterville's lights 6000' down in the San Joaquin Valley. Just walking (or driving) the paved streets of Sequoia Crest, you'll see many giant sequoias. Please be respectful of private property, especially near and around the giant sequoias, as we have had some vandalism in the forest lately.
The neighborhood is peaceful & friendly. Due to fire danger we do not have a BBQ. We do have a 'George Foreman Grilling Machine'. We also have a 'Mr. Coffee', toaster, microwave, coffee grinder, 12" electric frying pan, Oster blender, crock pot, waffle maker, electric mixer and a food processor.
  • Cozy, private and quiet.

Beautiful house with views of the Sierras and Kelso Valley. This could be your base camp for white water rafting, fishing the Kern River, Audubon's Kern River Preserve, the PCT, Giant Sequoia trees, Red Rock Canyon, or hiking the high country. Note that we are 1 hr 15 min (44 miles) from Giant Sequoia trees at the Trail of 100 Giants. Sequoia National Park is a three hour drive. We are solar powered and have backup generator power to overcome mandated outages. Trail of 100 Giants closed, snow.
The house sits on 6 amazing acres and has modern amenities like WiFi, Blu Ray DVD, cell phone service (T-Mobile best, Verizon good, AT&T not so good -- all available via Wi-Fi calling), air conditioning, central heat, home theater, excellent music system, LCD TV, Dish Network and ROKU.. One queen size bed -- we cater to couples, but the possibility of one or two more guests on an inflatable bed for an additional charge. One full bathroom and a kitchen with cookware and utensils to cook up a storm. You will have an outside covered, screened-in deck with propane grill and an additional open deck to take in the stunning mountain views or the stars and meteorites at night. The space is designed to be self-contained. Views in every direction. No close neighbors or town or traffic. In fact little noise except what nature offers. Ideal for a couple. This is NOT cafe society. We are somewhat remote. Trail of 100 Giants is not currently open -- still winter schedule.
The neighborhood is one of the things that sets this property apart. It is remote and quiet. The parcel is 6.25 acres. In European terms that is 100 x 250 meters; most lots are 2.5 acres. Many guests come for a retreat. The few neighbors you may encounter on a walk or hike are well-mannered and helpful. Hiking trails and quiet roads are available close by and out the door for hiking, cycling or birding. It is Spring now so weather is cool during the night and pleasant during the day. Our approach road is paved and maintained and the address is well marked and easily found. Know that this is a rural area so if you are going to arrive late, it is best to have your food supplies with you already as things are not open 24/7 here. 8 PM for close by; 11 PM half hour drive, earlier on Sunday. This area is remote. We are not in the thick of it; i.e., no Starbucks or other places nearby. Local dining guide provided in the residence and online here. We already have a great reputation for cleanliness but due to the Corona virus we now sanitize before your arrival. Also, we are allowing three days after you leave for our cleaning staff to safely enter. Then we allow three more days more days minimum befor the next booking. This is done to meet CDC guidelines for the life of the virus on various surfaces. While you visit, we ask that you also follow CDC guidelines and California guidelines for social distancing.
  • Sweet, very private cabin in a secluded canyon. The huge screened-in porch with sweeping private view of the hills and meadow was particularly special.

    Jason2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly special. A spacious screened in porch looks directly out on the beautiful mountains. The inside is very comfortable, great kitchen and well stocked, comfy bed, clean. Definitely as advertised and well exceeded expectations. If your in the area, this is the one you want.

    Nadiya2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • Michael’s property is exceptional. Tucked up on a hill, the house has been built with the landscape in mind: huge windows and French doors open to breathtaking vistas. The interior design is sleek, functional and modern, with incredible aesthetic treats (check out the cutlery!). Wood burning stove, fantastic amenities, and a lovely host. I couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you so much, Michael.

    Emma2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect stay. Michael is a kind, thoughtful, and generous host. The house is on a beautiful piece of land. The layout is great, the interior is cosy and well designed. Great for relaxing indoors or outdoors. Great kitchen for cooking and a BBQ on the screened porch. All around just a great stay and at a great value. Not to mention that incredible nature is a short drive away.

    Aleksander2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved my stay with Mike! He is an amazing host and the cabin is just perfect in every way. You can relax on the patios, hike the lands literally just outside the door, star gaze at night, relax by the wood stove fire, watch tv, and/or read books on local trails and bird species that Mike is kind enough to provide for your reference (with binoculars too!). The cabin is near small towns Incase you need anything. The kitchen had plenty of pots and pans to cook with, which is what I did all of my stay. The fridge had an arrangement of condiments Incase you needed anything. Coffee and teas were available as well. The views from the cabin are spectacular! Both day and night. Mike was kind enough to take me out on a hike with him one day. I truly loved that experience learning about him and the community within Fay Ranch Road. Mikes cabin was the perfect spot for a retreat from the busy city life. I feel a sleep often on the patio while listening to the local birds in the morning and listen to the small stream flowing by. The hiking just outside the cabin was lovely and a great work out! I did a few night hikes to star gaze and felt safe wondering in the dark. The area is well maintained and it’s easy to find walking paths to follow. I hope to visit Mike and the lovely cabin again! It’s definitely a gem that I hope to treasure more often.

  • Absolutely lovely stay! Highly recommend Angelique's cabin. So cute and the perfect get away. The little touches made it that much better, like the oatmeal bar and the coffee station. Planning on returning!

  • We had a lovely stay in Ponderosa, and Angelique was a very responsive host, would recommend!

  • An amazing getaway just a few hours from LA. Honestly, I have not been so relaxed in years! The cabin was peaceful, adorable and had almost everything you could need. We were able to bring our own meals and all the little things we needed for food prep were provided. The town was quaint and quite, providing the perfect escape from the city. My only tip is that if you're traveling around winter, check online for road closures (Google maps doesn't reflect mountain roads).

  • Very nice and quiet place for a romantic getaway. I would rent it again.

    Pa2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very sweet cabin in a really beautiful setting. It is a bit of a long and winding road to get there, but as such it really feels like you get out there amid nature. I loved how the owners retained the sometimes funky mid-century chalet charm of the cabin - original old appliances, vintage plates - with some period-referencing modern touches. The cabin has all that vintage charm but with modern amenities like ethernet wifi, streaming TV, smart speaker and digital thermostat to keep you comfortable. The setting was really beautiful, though we were disappointed we weren't able to access some of the points of interest due to snow and roads not being plowed. Would definitely return!

    Meghan2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • It was the best winter vacation ever!!! We fell in love with this place! Area around is amazing! House is AMAZING!! There is everything that you can need inside! It’s warm there when you arrive and the temperature remains at the right level always, you will not freeze. It’s so beautiful and cozy inside :) Also you will find there DVDs, Netflix, board games! Angelique helps with everything when I texted her. I just LOVED it!! Really! I definitely recommend this place!!! It was a lot of more than I expected! Thank you soooo much!!!

Charming historical renovated cabin in the heart of Kernville
This charming renovated cabin is listed in the book Kernville’s Historical Houses. Originally located in Whiskey Flats (old kernville). Built in 1874. It was relocated to its current location in the 1950’s when the Lake Isabella Dam was being built.Located right across the street from the KRV Historical Museum. Walking distance to cafes, saloons, Circle Park, Kernville Park and various outdoor guide services. Updated with modern conveniences but still has the old days atmosphere. One of the best locations in Kernville. Also there is another larger cabin next store on the premises that can also be rented. It would be perfect for a family reunion or for larger groups wanting to stay together
Quaint western town right in the Heart of Kernville. Every outdoor activity you can image.
  • This was the perfect place to stay! I loved the small cabin feel! Extreamly happy with everything! Thank you and I will be back!

  • Excellent cabin, everything functions well, is stylish and comfortable. Pellet stove is super convenient. 2 minute walk to shops and restaurants.

    Joshua2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot! Gold rush era historical charm with completely dialed in amenities inside. The wood burning stove (sweet), Keurig coffee maker, stove, fridge, and TV were all great. The bed was super comfortable. All plumbing works perfectly. It really was the best of two worlds. And about 200 yards or so to downtown, yet the neighborhood was completely quiet...even on a busy weekend like Whisky Flat weekend. Host was great as well, and always responded to inquiries within minutes. Really glad I stayed here and will again!

  • This is such an amazing property! Booked this place so my friends and I could enjoy a mini-vacation away from school/work. The cabin set the entire vibe for the trip. The view from the front deck is absolutely gorgeous! If you’re wondering if you should book this place, DO IT. You will not regret it.

  • The cabin was absolutely amazing. The view was even better. The locals were so happy to have Archangel Ancient Tree Archive there and were so helpful to us completing our mission up to Sequoia Crest and Slate Mountain. We couldn’t have been more please with our stay. We were lucky enough and got to experience sun, rain, fog and snow on the mountain. I’ll never forget this trip. We look forward to coming back this summer! Linea, also went above and beyond and purchased cross country skis for us to use during our stay. -Thank you. Caryssa & Jesse

This two bedroom one bath genuine log cabin is located in the lower Pier Point area of Camp Nelson. The views of the mountains and sky are spectacular in this cabin with very large decks. This cabin was built in the early 70`s and has been updated .Things to do in Camp Nelson:The Nelson Trail just at the end of Nelson Dr. One of the largest sequoia groves along the Tule river. Also The Trail of 100 Giants in Ponderosa, CA just up the 190. The Stagg Tree in Sequoia Crest. Wifi at cafe in Pondo
Authentic log cabin with cozy wood burning stove heats the cabin great ! I removed the flue on the fire stove because some guests had no clue to open it to let smoke flow. Also a back up portable propane Mr. heater is available for the bedroom. This is an all electric cabin so there is no dangerous gases. Please don't forget to bring your wood! The Camp Nelson area has 48 Giant Sequoia Groves, endless trails and other outdoor activities. Easy access during winter. Instructions provided
Walking distance to the Pierpoint Springs Cafe and Bar with free WIFI great food and bands on weekends. Temporarily closed at this time until May 2018 so head over to The Tavern for great food and drinks. Spectacular Mountain views from the picture window and very large deck with a large set of patio furniture. Forest adjacent, walking distance to town and the river stocked with Golden Trout among The Giant Sequoias. The Nelson Trail is just up the street for hiking, horse back riding and mountain biking. Famous for downhill bike runs going right through Giant Sequoias. The Pack Station provides horse back rides to the Kern River for Golden Trout Fishing. Or hike from the pack station for a day hike to the Kern river bridge in the Golden Trout Wilderness.. Visit The Stagg Tree in Sequoia Crest the third largest , Dome rock for meteor shows, The Needles climb to the lookout tower is Fantastic!!! Peppermint Falls in Lower Peppermint Campground SO AMAZING ..And the slides, a natural water slide. This cabin is available in the winter unlike other cabins in the area. Roads are snowplowed everyday after 9AM. but bring chains just in case. There are Cross country Ski Trails and rentals just 15 min up the mountain in Ponderosa and sledding in the meadow are popular in Camp Nelson during the winter months! Take advantage of the low rates and availability I have in the winter!
  • This is the second time I have traveled up from Los Angeles to stay in Leah's cabin, and I'm sure it won't be the last. She has such an amazing place, situated in the beautiful Sequoia National Forest, that is cozy and welcoming and all around peaceful and rejuvenating. Just a twenty-or-so minute drive to the Stagg Tree, the fifth largest tree in the world and an absolutely humbling and breathtaking experience in itself; as well as, many hiking trails and beautifully preserved nature - the location is perfect for any nature lovers and explorers. There is no cell service or wifi, so it is an amazing place to get away from all the noise of the world and just relax with yourself or a loved one, and get some inner peace and relaxation. Leah is very communicative, and finding her place was super easy. If you do need to make a call or use the wifi, there is a general store at the top of her road (a three minute driver or a nice ten minute walk) so it wasn't difficult to find even without GPS. Can't wait to come back and visit again sometime soon!

  • Pretty rustic in exactly the way I was looking for. Quiet and peaceful. Like the owner says: be sure to printout the instructions before you drive from Porterville and prep for an actual unplug from the internet because cellphones no worky anywhere past Porterville. Also here is a good tip: fill-up your on gas tank before you leave Springville if you plan on driving around a lot (what you do if you want to see that surrounding nature). But yes if you are prepped and want some quiet affordable cabin times with a nice fireplace this place is a solid choice.

Welcome to Darwin. We are a remote desert town located in S. Inyo County with a population of 30-40 residents. We are a friendly town with displays of art work all around. We have a post office and land lines, no cell or wifi (you can read about that when you scroll down). Sitting on the porch at Buck's cabin there is desert as far as you can see in every direction. Come bring your bikes and ride out in the desert. The wild flowers are beginning to bloom. Come spend a week and relax at Buck's.
We have a one bed (queen), one full bath, with shower that is wheel chair friendly. All door ways are 36" wide. Fully furnished kitchen with appliances and cook ware. Microwave, toaster oven, four burner stove top, coffee maker, refrigerator. Tiled floors throughout. Radiant heating under the floors with each room having it's own thermostat. It has 6" double insulated walls and double paned windows, which makes the cabin an warm and cozy place to hunker down in the winter. It has cooling fans, cooling system and a wonderful afternoon breeze. Also a beautiful view of the high desert in every direction.
You can buy a postage stamp in Darwin as far a businesses this is the only one. A must is a walk around town to look at the many artistic displays by locals. A chat with a local, everyone is friendly. A morning cup of coffee on the porch in a rocker chair and a view. Their are many old machines and cars located through out town. Enjoy!
  • I’m realizing that I will probably be the last guest to stay at the cabin for a while due to the Corona virus pandemic. That is a shame because I would come back to stay here in a heartbeat. The cabin was spacious, warm, clean & bright & the view from the kitchen sink/covered porch was to die for! Loved all the handcrafted elements, the doors, walls, cabinets & other unique touches. The sunsets, starlight nights & utter peace & quiet save for the odd jackrabbit hopping across the street were glorious. I really enjoyed meeting some of the local artists, you can see their work scattered around town. This place is seriously off the beaten path. No cell or WiFi service & nearest gas/stores are in Lone Pine. Bring all your food with you, the kitchen is amply equipped for cooking.

  • Jody's cabin was perfect for our weekend trip to Death Valley. It's quiet, clean, and cozy. The view of the night sky was beautiful and you can watch the sunset from the porch. Jody was a great host. It was lovely to get away in the little settlement of Darwin and enjoy the high desert.

    Eva2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Good Death Valley alternative to expensive hotels. Easy check in and nice interior. As Jody mentions in the description, don’t expect cell service, WiFi, gas or restaurants nearby.

  • Jody’s cabin exceeded our expectations in every way. It was extremely clean, comfortable, and had many personal and cute touches. It was a perfect location for our short stay in Death Valley. I didn’t have the chance to meet Jody, but she was an excellent communicator and prompt with responding to emails. I highly recommend staying at her cabin and I would definitely stay there again.

    Rebecca2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is cozy, quiet, clean and provides a remote oasis. Jody is a fabulous host and makes sure everything is understood and ready for your visit. I recommend staying in Buck’s and Darwin to explore this unique part of California. Make sure you make time to enjoy the stars and enjoy some meals in this cozy cabin.

    Erika2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Buck’s cabin while visiting Death Valley natl. park and it was great! Darwin is a really cute town and so is this cabin. There’s a full kitchen, heated floors, and lots of charm. The only thing I’d change would be the cell service, this was a little too much disconnect for us! But obviously that’s out of Jody’s control. Anyway, I would definitely stay here again! Great proximity to the park.

    Kelsee2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jody's place is well situated next to Death Valley. It's the perfect location to stay when visiting the national park. It's spotless and charming. The checkin process was smooth and painless. Jody responded to every question and request very quickly. She provided everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. I hope to have the opportunity to stay at her cabin again in the future. Thank you, Jody!!

This family-friendly motel features a horseshoe pit and fire pit for guest enjoyment. Mount Olancha is 25 minutes’ drive away. Rooms offer mountain views. A small fridge is provided in the rooms and microwave in the lobby at Rustic Oasis Motel. A barbecue area and a picnic area are onsite at the Motel Rustic Oasis. Guests can enjoy mountain views while relaxing with their family. Sequoia National Forest is less than 2 hours’ drive from the motel. Owens Lake is 10 miles away.
This motel is about as close as you can come to authentic western Americana. The Rustic Oasis Motel is a family owned motel with just eight rooms. It has survived when a lot of places like this were torn down to make room for bigger motels and concrete parking lots. Our Rustic sign out front next to Hwy 395 is a testament to this motels survival, it has gone through rough times, the sign has been battered, but it still stands tall. People pull over on the side of the road daily in their cars to get a photograph of it, it is a landmark for this area. We have beautiful mountains in front and behind us. We have no smog and the sky is blue, and at night you can see the stars. We are in the high desert and it is beautiful here. Some people think this area is spiritual or magical, we think it could be both. We are a simple motel and a peaceful place. The most special thing about our motel is the guests. They are the adventurers, lovers of nature, searchers , and weary travelers. With out them we would not exist.
  • Lovely place, really felt like a place with a soul. The room was clean and cozy. The bed was super comfortable! Beautiful and strategic location near Death Valley.

A beautiful swimming and fishing pond just below. Endless trails and walking/climbing opportunities in the nearby boulder formations; the property borders the new National Scenic Area. Amazing bird watching from the multiple cabin decks. Equally close to Horseshoe Meadows, Lone Pine, and Whitney portal.
Access to upstairs bedrooms is by staircase.
The Indian Springs subdivision consists of about two dozen scattered ranch-style estates.
  • We really enjoyed spending a night in this great chalet. The environment is fantastic, the silence and the rocks inspired us. The chalet is furnished with love, a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and a great view from the balconies. The nearest town is easy to reach by car. We had a great stay. The people were very helpful and friendly. If we are to be in this area again, we will be happy to book this AirBnB again.

  • Liane and Niko's place is charming, cozy, and clean. They were very warm and welcoming hosts and I felt right at home. I would stay there again in a heartbeat, probably the best airbnb in town!

  • Very lovely bedroom in Lone Pine. The hosts are very friendly and helpful.

    Paul2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had great time staying in Liane's clean and comfortable home. We received lots of good travel tips and appreciated the good communication. One minor issue, the heater coming off and on all night was somewhat loud. 5 stars!

    Fuqing2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Liane and N were very friendly and helpful. We slept well and have a good beginning to our morning. A beautiful house in a good location.

  • We had a great time. We spent the night in Lone Pine on our drive from Tahoe to Vegas via Death Valley, and Liane and Niko's place was the perfect spot to wind down and rest before continuing our drive. They were super friendly, the room and bathroom were lovely and the town itself has breathtaking views. Check out the Western Film Museum while you're there!

    Annabelle2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house of Liane and Niko is the perfect location to stay after cruising Death Valley. It is extremely clean and cute. Super easy to access thanks to the precious indications from our hosts, who also gave us great tips. We wished we stayed longer to explore the area and enjoy the authentic vibe of Lone Pine!

    Amelie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to enjoy Death Valley and the Eastern Sierras. Beautiful home, friendly hosts. We'd love to stay again.

  • This was an all-around excellent visit. I loved their house and the Airbnb room. I appreciated being able to make coffee in the room, and the mini fridge with chilled water and milk. Liane and Niko are not only incredibly kind, intelligent, and fun people to talk with, but they are also passionate about the area and very knowledgeable about it. They can offer great tips on what to do in the Lone Pine area and beyond.

A 5th wheel RV set up under the desert stars with full hook ups, TV and WiFi. The trailer is very comfortable for 1 or 2 people. You are in your own private section of the three acre yard with outside seating for the cool nights. We are on a dirt road just off the pavement with direct access to off road trails, biking and hiking. The location is 10 minutes from Ridgecrest, China Lake NAWS base and on the out skirts of Death Valley. It is a farm setting with Chickens, friendly dogs and cats.
We are at the base of the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountain range. There is a lot of off-roading in the area. Tons of California history to visit, old mining towns and hiking. Even a local brewery not to far away. We are also close to China Lake Navy base for those on a temporary assignment that don't like being in the city.
The neighborhood is all on acreage with views of the mountains. Tons of outdoor activities in every direction. The small town of Inyokern is only a few miles away with a couple restaurants, gas stations, post office and market.
  • Terry's place was perfect: tranquil, clean and well-equipped. Very welcoming hosts and dogs.

Secluded with gorgeous views and Giant Sequoias just steps away from front door. If you don't bring your groceries from home shop in Porterville on your way up to the cabin. The closest restaurants are 20 minutes or more away. Due to our location your cell phone probably won't work. The cabin has a land line phone and WIFI. Sequoia Crest (elevation 6800') is a unique community of private homes within the Alder Creek Giant Sequoia Grove, home of the 5th largest tree in the world (Alonzo Stagg Tree). Poppy Lake is 1/2 mile away. Trails lead to Hossack Meadow, Alder Creek & the Jordan Peak trail(map inside the cabin) We are not near Sequoia or Kings Canyon national parks, Sequoia National Park is 3 hours drive. You must use your own vehicle to get there. There are miles of trails to walk and hike. Bring your snow shoes or cross country skis in winter. The cabin key will be found in a combo lock box, located on the railing nest to main entrance(up stairs 2nd level)After you book, we'll email the code. We will not be at the cabin, but are just a phone call away. There are 103 cabins in Sequoia Crest, everyone is friendly and helpful. Only a few cabins are rented out, so most people you may meet will be cabin owners. Please be respectful of private property, especially near and around the giant sequoias, as we have had some vandalism in the forest lately. Snowy in winter, chains required but road is cleared regularly, all wheel drive (4x4) vehicle is recommended during the winter.
The cabin is nestled near a grove of giant sequoias. Great hiking right outdoor, you can hike 1 1/2 miles to see the 5th largest Giant Sequoia, the Amos Alonzo Stagg Tree. Great hiking, mountain biking, and lovely scenery around Poppy Lake.
  • Maggie’s house is amazing. It is a beautiful open space with views over the mountains. It is very remote which makes it so peaceful. The sequoias are incredible and everywhere outside. We were lucky with the weather so the drive up the mountain was fine, it might be a bit tough in the snow, 4wd definitely needed. Maggie was super helpful and easy to deal with. We enjoyed our stay here so much and would highly recommend staying.

    Kylie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is BEAUTIFUL with many stylish and thoughtful touches, many good amenities, it was CLEAN throughout, and the location is truly close to God! We enjoyed views out to the giant sequoias, the clean-burning fireplace, play time in the snow, and the peaceful evenings looking up at the stars. Thank you, Maggie, for a great family vacation.

    Theresa2020-02-17T00:00:00Z

  • We stayed at Reo’s Ranch previously and had such a great time that we came back again for a brief vacation. Mike & Diana’s place was perfect for the six of us. Their home is very spacious and allowed each couple to have their own bedroom and bathroom. The large kitchen was well stocked and roomy enough to let several people work in it at the same time. The living room was great for watching tv, playing games, and listening to music by the cozy fireplace. And the downstairs game room with ping pong and pool tables made for lots of fun times. The Alabama Hills location is fabulous, with spectacular views and lots of things to do outdoors, and numerous sites to see and explore. And it’s not too far from other wonderful sites. Definitely would come back again!

  • Stayed here for two nights with my sister and dogs for our birthday— it was fantastic! Such a beautiful property with amazing views out of every window. Super peaceful. We spent a day at Death Valley NP— perfect base for that!

    Ashley2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Spectacular views and hiking right out your backyard! Very close to town but far enough away to escape the noise to enjoy privacy and peace. This house was very well-stocked and labeled for easy navigation throughout. Very clean inside with ample space and plenty to do on site. I didn’t mind cooking every night on vacation with the gorgeous kitchen and views outside the kitchen windows! We can’t wait to come back to this exact house year after year!

  • A magical place! The house had so many thoughtful touches. We highly recommend.

    Amanda2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • As you can tell from the rave reviews, this is a wonderful place to stay!! The house is equipped with everything you could want-- the pool table was our favorite. We also really appreciated how easy it was to be in touch with Mike and Diana with any questions. A couple of things that we would like to add for future travelers: if you enjoy OHVs, there are areas to ride off of Movie Road (really close by) that are absolutely beautiful! There is also something particularly magical about walking quietly at night, under the stars (or in our case, a full moon!) around the property. We saw jack rabbits, quail, and doves during our stay. Our dogs LOVED the home and property and give it a solid 5 stars!

    Haley2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This house is in such a beautiful location and has everything you could need to make your stay comfortable. We had planned to visit Death Valley from there, but decided to stay in the area to see the local sights in the Alabama Hills. You could simply sit on the front deck or on the property and never feel the need to leave. I can't say enough good things about it - and such a great value.

  • Leah’s cabin is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. The giant sequoias are incredible and the cabin is a great place to base yourself if you’re into hiking and exploring! The cabin is clean and comfortable and we had a great time there!

  • Exactly what we were looking for! 2 days in a legitimate cabin, completely disconnected. Weather got down to the 30s at night but with the fireplace (bring your own wood!) 2 wall mounted heaters and one portable heater, we were never cold ! Just a short drive from the general store, and a couple little bar & grills. The soaking tub is amazing and the water gets soooo amazingly hot. Super comfy bed. Totally stocked kitchen cabinets so bring your own food to cook and there’s plenty of dishes and pots & pans to use. Just a great place for a quick disconnecting trip up the mountains. Leah was great with lots of info prior to arrival.

    Kendall2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cabin in the wilderness. Great to get away from modern day challenges and have no Wi-fi or cell signal the whole time. Pier point has a nice cafe and we drive up to Stagg Tree.

    Mark2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin/tree-house is adorable and definitely a cozy place for two. Check in was easy and everything was clean. Bring board games and such because there definitely is no service what so ever or TV. The area is beautiful and does offer some trails around the area and the ladies at the general store were very nice and provided us with suggestions. We only tried one trail and the views were great. If you are looking for a get away from cell service and time to relax this is great. I will say that if you want to stay here to go in to Sequoia NP it is a bit of a drive and it gets dark fast so we did not drive to Sequoia NP till the next day after we checked out early. There is a great place to eat in Pierpoint but bringing your own snacks and food would probably be best, the store closes pretty early. Over all it was a relaxing stay and good getaway from technology.

  • Awesome place nice for any one looking to go up n get some peace of mind

    Videl2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome cabin, perfect retreat away from the city if you need it (we did) and there's plenty of hiking if that's your thing. The fireplace and daybed combo was ideal for afternoon reading. If you're looking to unplug and relax, you should definitely stay here.

    Quinn2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay here. It's perfect for a weekend get-a-way. No cell service or wifi, so you really get to disconnect from everything. The cabin itself is beautiful, perfect for two people. The living room did get a little cold late at night but the rest of the cabin was perfectly warm with the provided heaters. Didn't even need to dress too warmly going to bed! No complaints at all about temperature. Bring your own food to cook, all pans and utensils are provided. The surrounding areas were wonderful too. We arrived to lots of snow and saw it begin to dwindle throughout the stay, so each morning we woke up to a slightly different scene outside. We even got to use the patio the last morning as the snow on it had melted away. We can't wait to come back again and see how different it is during the Spring/Summer! That being said, we will definitely be back and hope to make regular trips to this cozy little cabin.

    Rick2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderfully rustic little getaway! Put the screens down and go outside, or curl up in front of the fire. We loved our stay! We recommend going up in daylight as the roads are very windy and there is no light (we learned this by mistake, ha!). Also, we talked with the kind woman at the general store and she pointed us up to the Stagg Tree in Sequoia Crest - Stunning! Take a little drive further down 190 and you will find Ponderosa - eat at the lodge, it's really great!

We've a very nice home, and with the onslaught of coronavirus we want our guests to know that we sanitize bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom areas after each guest. Bed clothes and towels also have a sanitizer added to each wash. Guests that stay with us can be assured that we want all to be safe and we are proactive with safety standards. The bed is VERY comfortable, and we have whisper soft sheets. If you have any concerns about a stay with us, please contact us. Continental breakfast INCLUDED
Parking is easily available either on the street or we have one space available in our driveway. Our home is located in a nice area of Ridgecrest and is safe. Bedroom has ceiling fan for air movement, and during the summer months we have evaporative cooling. The home stays at about 79 degrees. The desert southwest is an adventure to explore, with Death Valley, Mount Whitney, Mammoth Lakes, and other attractions within a short car ride. Fresh and filtered water is available in the room. Smoking IS ALLOWED on the front porch or back patio.
Quiet, safe area. Plenty of parking on the street in front of our house, and a variety of restaurants in the area. Located only 1 1/2 hours from Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley, one hour away from Lone Pine/Mount Whitney (where many of our famous western films were made), and 3 1/2 hours from the Sequoia National Park. We are in a prime location for many of our desert Southwest attractions.
  • I stay in a lot of Airbnb’s and this has been one of my best experiences. Clean, quiet, and accurate description. The bed was comfortable and internet fast. Hospitality was beyond amazing and I will definitely stay again!

  • This was a great launching stop before heading to Death Valley. Bill and Sally offered us some great tips and had some helpful literature to review while we were there. We had our own private space which was spotless and comfortable. We would highly recommend when visiting the area.

  • Bill & Sally were phenomenal hosts to my husband when he arrived to Ridgecrest. We are in the process of re-locating to Ridgecrest and he needed a safe place to stay while he secured a home. He only spoke good things about Bill & Sally and their home. He was extremely comfortable and mentioned that they were extremely kind and helpful. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience during his arrival. He was initially delayed in arriving and they were very accommodating to his flight and driving schedule. I thank them so much and we are very appreciative of their kindness. Please do not hesitate to book their home! We highly encourage anyone looking for a safe, clean place to stay while in Ridgecrest, to book their home!

  • Beyond a very clean and pleasant accommodation (bedding at the top) Bill and Sally are very warm and have lots of good advice to give on the region. It is worth the detour just to be able to meet these two adorable people. Perfect for recharging your batteries before attacking Death Valley!

A separate game room and Sky deck make the 395 Retreat a relaxing and well sought out for families or just for a fun getaway! Our home has beautiful views of the Eastern Sierras. The home is completely brand new, inside and out. Two very comfortable queen beds and a queen sleeper sofa. Full kitchen and appliances are available. As we said before we offer a game room w/pool table, darts, a campfire arena, Bbq and patio. For your night time viewing there is a stargazing deck. Come explore!!
5 acres semi secluded. Very peaceful and quiet. In the middle of tons of outdoor adventures. You may bring your own dirt bikes for riding right out of the property with miles of desert for your pleasure. Four wheeling in the local Sierra canyons with magnificent views. Hiking, mountain biking for miles. Great fishing within an hours drive, my husband is an avid fisherman so talk to him about his hot spots. Deer hunters or other hunters, we are very close to d8, d9, and X10 zones. Take a day drive to Death Valley or up to the Giant Sequoias.
The 395 Retreat faces the beautiful Eastern Sierra Mountains. It's remote enough to get away from all the everyday noise and close enough to town to catch a bite at the many restaurant choices Ridgecrest and Inyokern has to offer. There's wildlife surrounding the area with bunnies, squirrels and birds in our viewing area. Or enjoy a campfire with your loved ones with owls flying above in the desert sky. Definitely an experience to enjoy and explore while staying with us. Then at night sleep in a comfortable home with all the luxuries of a five star hotel. You won't be disappointed. We hope to see you soon!
  • Cute and cozy spot between Death Valley and Sequoia National Parks. Great game room and quiet, clean space. Definitely recommend!!

  • The 395 Retreat was a quiet and comfortable place to stay while exploring the natural wonders in the area. We went specifically to see Red Rock Canyon and the Trona Pinnacles. Both are must sees. Be prepared for some bumpy dirt roads and dark nights. I recommend getting to the house during the day at least the first time. We brought our small dog and he LOVED the property and had a blast running around on his own in the fenced grounds. And even though it was cold outside, the house itself had good heating and felt very cozy. Vanessa was also very easy to communicate with and extremely prompt in her replies.

Hi! Welcome to our home! It’s just my girls and I who live here. My girls are only home every other week and I’m gone a lot as well, so it’s pretty quiet even when we’re home. I have a private bedroom and private bathroom across the hall from each other. We have 2.5 acres so plenty of parking for any kind of vehicle! I also have a laundry room, kitchen and living room for your use. If you have any questions please feel free to ask! Have a great day and safe trip! Sorry, but no dogs at this time.
You have a private bedroom and private bathroom. If you want to rent for a month we can work out a deal to where it’s cheaper every night.
We are at the end of a dirt road and don’t really have any neighbors. It’s very quiet.
  • Billi's place is great. They came in after I went to bed and I didn't even hear them come home -- thank you Billi. One of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Billi is very friendly and sociable, enjoyed our time chatting. She has a sweet/cute older dog who loves to be petted. Booked her place the same afternoon that I needed a room for the night, and she communicated right away. It was a very good stay. Thanks Billi.

This cozy, secluded cabin sits on its private acre of forest on the edge of Sequoia Crest a small community situated in a Giant Sequoia grove at the end of a winding road at 6000 feet altitude. Enjoy the sunrise on the large sunny deck and preparing meals in the well equipped kitchen or on the BBQ. Great hiking and mountain biking straight out of the cabin without ever getting into a car. Ideal for 1 or 2 couples and small families. I have a 2 nite minimum stay.
My cabin home consists of a large open plan room with kitchen at one end and living area with fireplace at the other with a large dining table in between. It has two bedrooms with queen sized beds and one bathroom. The large deck is surrounded by forest. Sequoia Crest is a small community adjacent to the Alder Creek grove and the Giant Sequoia National Monument. Excellent hiking and mountain biking await. Please know that we are located within the Giant Sequoia National Monument. Sequoia National Park is about a three hour drive as you need to drive back down the mountain and go north to reach the Park.
What makes Sequoia Crest really special is how it sits nestled within a Giant Sequoia Grove. Your backyard will lead you onto a walk amongst some of the most magnificent ancient trees in the world. You can choose to wander amongst the trees or to take a hike up to Jordan Peak from which you will get stunning views over the Sierras and the central Valley. The beauty of the community of Sequoia Crest is its remoteness. There are no shopping facilities or stores in the community. It is best to bring all provisions for a trip along.
  • Bob’s place was awesome - tucked away in the woods, super quiet and very well stocked on everything we needed. The neighborhood turned into a winter wonderland overnight (over a foot of snow in 12 hours) so we were snowed in - Bob was very helpful in giving us an extra night so we could wait out the storm. *Keep in mind, this area can get a ton of snow and can be hard to navigate without 4WD or tire chains* Thanks for a magical thanksgiving adventure!

    Melanie2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely, cozy, cabin in the woods! It has everything you might need for a weekend away, books to look over, maps of the area, cooking supplies etc. It was very clean and tidy when we arrived and everything in the house was easy to find. The only thing I would note is that if you arrive after dark, the turn up the hill to the house can be hard to spot.

    Meagan2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for an escape from all of the noises and distractions of your every-day life...this is the place! Cozy, quiet and rustic! Camp Bob is smack dab in the middle of the Sequoia wilderness and close to some great hiking...or you can just spend your time relaxing on the deck like we did! Bob’s place is not without any amenities that you might require as well! If you forgot it...chances are there’s something there for ya! What a relaxing weekend! (Pro-tip: be extra careful if you’re arriving after sunset! It can be a little difficult, especially if you don’t have a larger vehicle!)

    Jeffrey2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Camp Bob was awesome! Bob was a great, clear host and the checkin instructions made it a breeze getting in. The place itself is a real treat with a location that can't be beat. Plenty of hiking using the camp as a launching point, and the nature just steps away is unparalleled. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking to get into nature, its well stocked, comfortable, clean, and classic. Only negative is I wish I'd have stayed longer!

    Matthew2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Bob's space was quiet, clean and cozy. A wonderful place for a getaway with friends or family. Will definitely be coming back in the future!

    Maya2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Bob’s pace is cozy and charming and it’s nestled in a truly gorgeous setting. Definitely a prime spot for jumping on a trail and taking in all the beauty of the Sequioas. He is also a responsive host-we highly recommend this place!!

    Joanne2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • One of our best vacation rentals ever .... Bob’s cabin is so cozy and comfortable... the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed... the bed is comfortable and cozy. We loved drinking are morning coffee everyday on the outdoor deck listening and watching the cute chipmunk playing.... and at night watching the stars we enjoyed the magical silence of the forest.

    Annamaria2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • If we could all be a bit more like Bob, the world would be a better place. Bob's place was the perfect spot for a weekend getaway, but we wished it could have been a week.Stunning views, ultra quiet, cozy, well equipped kitchen, and close to hiking and foraging. What more could you ask for? We loved the fireplace and having brunch out on the sprawling deck under the sequoias. Try to arrive with some daylight, as it could be a bit tricky on your first go. Can't wait to come back!

  • Great place to stay.

Description Views of the mountains are spectacular, making the studio an area of quiet rest. You may walk a few meters to sit on a rock to enjoy the view or sit at the table to read or write and still enjoy the view. This listing is a studio apartment near, but does not share, any common walls with the living area of our main home. NOTE: PLEASE BE ADVISED that the Trail of 100 Giants is always closed if there is snow at elevation.
I can't promise this, but I went out tonight and saw a large buck eating in our yard. There was a rabbit, quail, robins, scrub jays, and lots of coyote scat. Not your usual experience at a rental, most likely! We can't promise you this experience, but we can promise relative quiet and spectacular views, a comfy bed, and an experience to remember.
Neighborhood The studio feels like a world away, but is only five minutes from the center of town. There are hiking paths out the door that you will enjoy. We are visited by deer, bobcats, foxes at night, and all manner of wildlife if we are quiet, as we are a mile from the village of Kernville and a thousand feet higher. In town there is a Craft Brewery, (Kern River Brewing Company), which has two distinct locations, and the music is excellent on Friday nights. We boast The Starlight Lounge and Wine Bar in town with gourmet food and live music on Thursday evenings - sometimes jazz - sometimes cowboy country - with many of the bands coming from the surrounding area to play for and with us! Besides these restaurants, there are Italian, pizza, Mexican, a deli (the Fremont Deli) and a great coffee bar called the Big Blue Bear. The Kern River Runs Through It, the town, that is, and it can be hairy whitewater in the spring and mild tubing fun later on, with many places to picnic. There is a local park on the river, and its always cooler there, even if the temperature is i the 90s. We have a museum (open Thursday through Sunday, 10 to 4) which is ever expanding, showing the history of the many movies that were filmed here in Kernville as well as geological artifacts, the history of the Edison hydroelectric plants, and some local Indian artifacts. We are five hours from Yosemite; four and a half from Las Vegas; a little over three hours from Death Valley; six from San Francisco; three from LA, and a mere hour from the Trail of 100 Giants (Please note that the Trail is closed in winter). We are minutes from parking for any number of lovely hikes, some with relatively secluded pools (Bull Run Trail). Just ask us. We have rafting, biking, and kayaking outfitters in our mountain tourist town, so you can find what you need here. Book in advance at Sierra South or Mountain and Rivers for rafting the Kern River in Spring or early summer!
  • Lisa and John's place was the perfect spot for a weekend trip away from the city. It was quiet, beautiful, and clean. Lisa was very warm and welcoming and made sure that we had everything we needed. The views from the guesthouse were amazing, and we loved sitting under the stars at night. Thank you!!! We hope to come back soon :)

    Anna2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to be treated kindly and experience paradise you have to visit John and Lisa! The homemade candy is as amazing as the view!!!

    TinaFelix2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • John and Lisa are impeccable hosts. They are a lovely couple; they are friendly and shared amazing tales of their own journeys. Their communication was clear and immediate. They were attentive and cared about my stay and comfort. The unit overlooks the Kern River Valley and the southern end of Sequoia National Park. The views from the unit are great: peaceful and quiet. A place where you can really hear yourself think. It is about a 10-15 minute drive to the park entrance. The unit is modern, well-lit with big windows, clean, comfortable, and private. The bed is memory foam with the right amount of firmness. Lisa leaves a treat of her homemade chocolate in the refrigerator that is irresistible. Tasteful and personal touches throughout. Will I return? absolutely Do I recommend Lisa and John's place? without reservation

    Chris2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • John and Lisa's place is the perfect getaway from the hectic workweek! We stayed over New Years Eve, and we can't wait to come back. The drive up their mountain may be a little daunting, but the place is absolutely worth it! John and Lisa had little treats and special touches waiting for us, like a bottle of wine, a parking spot with a welcome sign on it, and home-made chocolates. The room does not disappoint with the views either; this is the perfect place to enjoy gorgeous views of mountains with optimal access to hiking trails, the small town of Kernville, and the quiet relaxing cottage. They place birdseed on the rocks outside the main window, so the sounds of wildlife greets you in the morning, and the sunrise is spectacular. The guest book lists places to go, eat, and see, and their suggestions are spot-on. This is definitely the place to book if you're looking for privacy, relaxation, access to the outdoors and hiking trails, and a quiet spot to relax in the evenings. We know Kernville is much busier in the summer, but we loved the solitude of the winter season and still found wonderful hikes in the area. We can't wait to come back again!

    Tricia2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • A great escape and awesome adventure! You have a quiet little back house with an amazing view all to yourself with a jacuzzi just outside the entrance. There are hikes to and around the river, all of which have amazing views. There were plenty of cute cafes and restaurants available in the area. Its the right place if you’re looking for a quiet getaway or an adventure on the river!

    Sarah2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and John are fantastic hosts. The place is cozy and immediately just felt like home. Also, they had tons of tips for local activities and we loved sharing drinks & conversation on the terrace.
