Places to stay in Great Ellingham

Places to stay in Great Ellingham
Discover a secret meadow and spend summers days in the heart of rural Norfolk with a thatched Iron Age round house as your living room with a Yurt as your bedroom. With wood burning stove and secluded location a perfect quirky retreat.
The most striking thing about the location is the Iron Age Round House, built in the traditional methods (but not all traditional materials!) set amongst living willow fences with a camp fire at its heart. Next to this is the yurt with the wood burning stove and bureau. There is gas cooking facilities in the Roundhouse and a large solar panel provides the electricity needs for running small items such as lighting and laptops, phone chargers etc.
The walks around this part of Rural Norfolk are beautiful. There is significant history to be found as Norfolk, and especially around here, Saxon Round Tower churches are common. Nearby Mattishall is also where the Mattishall Horde was discovered. Norwich is just 12 miles away and boasts an amazing Norman Castle and of course, Norwich Cathedral plus much much more.
  • Great experience!

  • Beautiful roundhouse and cosy yurt, hidden away in the grounds of a farmhouse.

  • Fun, cute, relaxing. An excellent space with plenty to do. Would definitely stay again.

  • Great fun, we'd recommend this as something different from the usual. Very warm welcome, then we were left to it, just as we wanted. Basic facilities, but then you know that already right? If you're fine with that (and we were), then you'll love this!

  • We had an amazing stay, despite forgetting our bedding! Our lovely hosts supplied us with some. We will definitely return

    Hannah2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an experience. I spent two nights at the Yurt with my partner and it was the best choice ever. We needed an escape from the city life and finding ourselves around the fire, looking at shooting stars, waking up with birds, frogs and squirrels all around was absolutely amazing. I totally suggest it!

    Marta2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, lovely people! Had a great experience :)

    Lauren2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place and location - this was camping with comfort! The bed was lovely and comfortable, and even over the hottest August bank holiday weekend on record the yurt was a comfortable temperature until about 8.30 - 9am (much later than if we'd been camping!). Sitting around the campfire in the evening with the fairy lights twinkling away was simply magical. My husband wouldn't have chosen such a stay in a million years (he's definitely not a camper!) but he also enjoyed it.

A substantial 5/6 bedroomed detached house set in a rural location surrounded by farmland. Private heated Indoor and Outdoor pool, Hot Tub and own Woodland set on 1.5 acres with treehouse, summerhouse and fire-pit. Inglenook fire place. Sky/BT Sport with surround sound. Bt broadband and 4g available
Welcome to Shepley House.. pride and joy for years and now for others to savour. Nestled off the beaten track but accessible for nearby shops, cycle ways, pubs and great walks lives Shepley House. Set in an area of about 1.5 acres, this country retreat offers more than you bargained for ! We are surrounded by a farm ! That means we get deer, hedgehogs, jack rabbits, hares, grouse and all of kinds of wildlife wondering in. Don't worry, they keep out of your way but if you are lucky you might see them. It's also an excellent spot for bird watchers so I am told. In fact, we have a viewing gallery in the midst of its own Woodland from where you can sit still and just listen out for wildlife, or hop down and cook something up in the firepit if your tummy's rumble ! For either on hot or cold days you can then enjoy the luxury of an indoor heated pool, have a dip, swim a few lengths (or just float about) and then retire to the hot tub and sip a cold drink or cup of tea. On warm days, why not open the side panel and retract the roof and get the sunshine on your back whilst you swim up and down... HOT TUB and POOL are 100% private to you and your group On cold winter nights, why not relax in the snug in front of a roaring fire and dry off whilst dinner is being prepared, or call out to one of our many outlets that can deliver to you. Or simply nestle into the lounge and watch or film or catch the latest game or play a dvd, a video game or just read a book...its all up to you. The nights are free from light pollution so it makes for great star gazing if this all becomes too much, just have a midnight stroll in the acre woodland and get lost in the gaze of the stars. If you have any further requirements, for example we can provide gazebo, entertainment, face painting, hog roast facilities etc, please get in touch for more details ! Please respect the environment PLEASE CAN ALL GUESTS REMEMBER TO BRING THEIR OWN SWIMMING TOWELS - WE WILL PROVIDE STANDARD TOWELS. Some rules... For hot tub and pool usage, please remove makeup and shower before use otherwise the quality of the experience will degrade. For those wishing to celebrate with confetti or other materials, no problem but is your responsibility to clean up please and failure to do so may incur an additional charge if it sticks PLEASE NOTE This is a rural location with the main attractions being this setting and other activities mainly relating to wet facilities. Hot tubs are rotated at parts of the year. Ease assume 4 to 6 seater availability depending on maintenance schedules. Broadband is provided but is subject to the whims of the telecoms provider and is not seen as a key feature of the stay. We have however recently installed a broadband network (SIM Wifi) which is accessible from the house and woodland - data can be purchased on demand, please contact our team for further details.
You have some truly great pubs nearby, the Crown, a mix of old and new in Great Ellingham. The Red Lion has incredibly friendly owners who will make you feel at home in Caston. The Waggon & Horses just further down from that will give you an old pub feel with pots and pans and good quality English fayre. Also if you go into Attleborough there are a couple of fantastic Indian eateries: One we recommend is the Shapla Tandoori where you will be treated like King & Queen !
  • A great place for friends to come together. The local pub is very welcoming and the store was well stocked.

  • This is my second time at Shepley House, this time for a family 40th birthday celebration. The house was perfect for our needs, with a large social space, expansive grounds and a fantastic hot tub! Everyone from teenagers to pensioners were happy and we will be back again soon.

  • Just returned from 3 nights away with friends celebrating the New Year! It was the perfect house as it had a lovely big communal area and all of the bedrooms were a good size. We used both the pool and hot tub which were an excellent feature. The pool was warm enough for our 6 month old baby. Would definitely recommend!

    Lauren2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house was perfect, we all said how it reminded us of a french gite without having to travel so far. Mum was delighted with everything and really enjoyed having the whole family in one place. The house, the grounds and the catering setup was perfect for me to cook for 12 of us with no issues. We’ll definitely be returning for a longer stay in the future.

    Adrian2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great for large groups. The house is in a peaceful location. Our kids loved the pool, the hot tub and the massive garden. The house was incredibly clean. The sofas were very comfortable!

  • Gary was so easy to communicate with and answered all my questions ASAP. The house was fantastic, we had the best time ever! We want to visit Shepley once a year! The house is stunning as are the grounds and the pool & hot tub are outstanding, can't wait to book again!

Corona Virus: All surfaces, door nobs, switches, handles etc have been carefully disinfected for your safety. A 16c listed and part thatched cottage oozing character and history. Modern furnishings compliment revealed timbering, original beams and an inglenook fireplace with wood burner. In the heart of a friendly, quiet medieval village with 2 gastro pubs, coffee shop offering delicious homemade food and a general store closeby. Broads, seaside, walks, historic, cultural city & welcoming folk
The walls are full of original art and photography as well as quirky features around every corner. Painted in the traditional Norfolk colour pink, this is a listed building in a medieval conservation village full of historic features. The bedrooms have comfortable beds to accommodate up to 6 people as there is a spare bed that can be put up in the larger garden room ( that room would then accommodate 4 people in 1 room, a double and 2 singles). I have a cot bed for a baby. There's also a high chair, toys, books etc for children. For adults there are music and film dvd's, books and a barbecue in the garden. The owner has taken care to ensure that guests have every comfort during their stay. There are tv's in every bedroom and a large one in the living room as well as a dvd player and a music centre. The sun room provides a perfect private space to get away from it all and relax. Through the French Windows is a small veranda with seating and a herb garden. Beyond the veranda down a short but pretty pathway there is a sunny established garden where you can eat al fresco, barbecue, or just relax. The living room is colourful and cosy with a woodburning stove and comfortable contemporary seating. Behind an oak door there's a 'secret' stairway and on the back wall is the original bakers oven door. The bedrooms are individually designed to give a different feel to each space. The Poppy room with its deep red accents and Moroccan style lighting make this a warm and rich space to relax in. The Garden room is larger with a double and a single bed. This has more traditional English colouring in the furnishings with an original fireplace, a 'secret' staircase and a fabulous long window looking down onto the sun room and beyond. The bathroom has a walk in shower. If you need toiletries there’s lots in the cupboard on the landing you can use. If no one is coming after you I'm very happy for you to leave in the afternoon...maybe after lunch. Ask me if you're not sure or I'll let you know. Please be aware that the cottage is 16c therefore some areas like the landing have low ceilings. Mostly everywhere else is fine but if you’re tall you might need to be careful in a few areas in the cottage. You have sole use of the cottage. I live next door. I can now offer massage and therapy services who are happy to come to the cottage. There are 3 local therapists who offer different treatments. Contact them directly. The village is friendly and has an active community. It has its own castle ruins, a village green with a market cross building and a whipping post. There are wonderful walks all around the outskirts including the commons history can be traced back to the 12c. A number of orchids grow on the common as do huge and unusual fungi. It's also a great area for bird spotting. The village has 2 great gastro pubs (book ahead), a village general shop and a fantastic coffee shop selling home made sweets and savouries. I have a shop/stall on Norwich market at the top (nos 138/9) called 'The other Curator' selling quirky bohemian and vintage style fashion , jewellery and homeware. • Gorgeous property in a nice village - perfect for the quiet few days away we needed. Loved the quirkiness of the layout and all the little details. There was everything we needed - the kitchen was particularly well equipped. We were able to cook at home easily. It was lovely sitting out having coffee on the little terrace and being able to walk the dog just around the corner. Caryn was a lovely and responsive host, with excellent sparkly shoes. Thanks for having us!

  • Thanks Caryn for another fabulous stay in your lovely cottage.

  • Quirky, old and homely. A very comfortable cottage with wood burning stove that was great in the evening while opening a bottle of something. Morning coffee in the ‘fairy room’ (as my daughter called it) was very tranquil. Thanks for a wonderful few days!

  • Our stay at Caryn’s cottage was lovely. Caryn is really friendly and welcoming. The cottage is amazing and having the log burner is nice and cosy. The beds are comfy and the living room and sun room are gorgeous. The kitchen has everything you need! We ate at the local pub (very near to the cottage) and this was good too.

A simple, cosy, tranquil space. Sunny verandah and little private place to watch the sun go down. Enclosed garden, ideal for children. Friendly cats, bats to watch at night, and maybe even the odd hen will come visiting...
The cabin is down a sandy track that leads to the river Thet with lovely views across the fields past an oak tree with swings. Very pleasant bicycling...close to Thetford Forest.
  • This is my second stay here and I absolutely loved it (again). The bed is so comfortable and the surroundings almost silent, except for the birds and the wind. I come here to study and write, and I get a huge amount done, but I also go home feeling rested and peaceful. I'm sure part of that is down to Robyn's home-made bread, which has magical properties. Thoroughly recommended.

    Carina2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice cosy cabin, we spent a night here with my wife and loved it, definitely recommend it.

We stayed over on Saturday night to go to the Polar Express experience in Dereham on the Sunday, which was amazing! Perfect little space for us and our 6 6 year old. It was warm and cosy and had all kitchen facilities needed to make breakfast and lunch. Lovely walk to river thet nearby and world horse welfare with written instructions in the toolshed which we did in in the morning. Thanks for a great stay

  • Beautiful accommodation with the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in in years. Thank you Angela for being such a welcoming host! Highly recommended!

    Darren2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately we had to cancel at the last minute due to Storm Ciara, however, Angela was very understanding and did not charge us for the second room that we had reserved. We hope to visit sometime later in the year.

    Pauline2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Angela's place was amazing, pix are accurate. It had everything we needed. Upstairs, the bedroom was a really good size with comfortable bed and big bathroom with bath. We opted for the shower room which was great with good water pressure. Downstairs, there was a lovely living room and dining area where a continental breakfast was available. I loved the croissants! We would love to stay again. Thank you, Angela!

    Jarrah2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second visit this year as we have family living nearby. The village was dressed for Christmas including the old windmill and church and Angela's place too. We had an extremely comfortable overnight stay.

  • Beautiful cottage in a lovely rural location

    Michael2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Angela’s place is a perfect gem of a place to stay attached to the post office itself and next to Angela’s house, but very separate and quiet. Although no kitchen, there is a breakfast feast, with coffee maker and fridge to enjoy meals in the dining area. There’s a separate sitting room too to relax as well. A great place for a mini trip away!

We welcome well behaved dogs, as does our local pub. The garden has a gate so can keep all but the smallest dogs contained too.
You get two double bedrooms downstairs, a double futon upstairs in the attic conversation, and an additional double room outside in a small cosy cabin. We also have several camp beds you are welcome to use in common spaces. There are lots of books and plants throughout the house, comfortable chairs to read and tables to eat at, The kitchen is well equipped with pots and pans, crockery and utensils - even tea, coffee, lots of herbal teas and herbs and spices. It's a real home from home with plenty of character.
Lovely Norfolk village with a great pub, lots of open countryside and good walks. Near the market town of Wymondham and only 10 miles from the ancient cathedral city of Norwich.

Timber framed, with some low beams, you'll find lots of interesting historical ornaments and a comfortable, quiet rural way of life.

We have put much thought into how to make best use of the space situated on the ground floor. The large open plan bedroom/living area has 32" Freeview TV, double bed and wooden floor. The separate kitchen has cooking facilities, fridge-freezer, washing machine and tiled floor. The separate shower room houses a shower cubicle, toilet and heated towel rail. Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Private parking for 1 car. No smoking. 1 pet allowed.
Set within the Norfolk village of Scarning, New Inn Lodge is the perfect base for exploring the area. With a large open plan bedroom and living area and separate kitchen and shower room, the owners have put much thought into how to make best use of the space available and have created somewhere lovely to relax and unwind. Nearby lies the fine city of Norwich with its classic Norman castle, numerous museums, galleries and theatres and great places to eat and drink.
Norfolk boasts a number of notable sites for history buffs including The Gressinghall Farm and Workhouse Museum, and The Blickling, Holkham and Sandringham estates, which are all within easy reach also. You can be at the North Norfolk coast in 40 minutes where you can enjoy a range of lovely beaches, marshes and quays. Why not stroll along the Edwardian seafront and visit the pier at Cromer, go crabbing at Blakeney or perhaps take a ride along the coast from Sheringham on the North Norfolk Railway?. 40 minutes in another direction and you will be in Wroxham, the gateway to the Broads. Here you can join an organised tour or even charter your own day launch to drift along these beautiful waterways. Head yet another way for 40 minutes and you can be in the heart of Thetford Forest with its nature trails, Go Ape high rope site. A stay at New Inn Lodge means you are spoilt for choice for things to see and do in the lovely county of Royal Norfolk. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ miles.

A cosy, two story annexe with fully functional kitchen, including a washing machine for guests sole use and cosy log burner in the living room. Guests are within walking distance of a fantastic gastro pub, should you not feel like cooking. https://www.theboars.co.uk Perfect for access to Wymondham and Norwich, or as a stop off on the way to the beautiful Norfolk Broads or beaches. Guests have off street parking directly outside the annexe.
Please note that the annexe has a stone staircase between floors and also low ceilings upstairs. I advise that owing to the stone staircase, this property may not be suitable if guests have young children who are mobile, or if any guests have vision or mobility impairment. The property has a free standing bath tub, but does not have a shower. I can provide a travel cot, or an extra single mattress if needed.
Spooner Row is a quiet rural town, however is within reach of the city of Norwich, which has many great restaurants and bars. I am happy to give recommendations. I also strongly recommend the local pub, The Boars, in Spooner Row https://www.theboars.co.uk
  • Lovely little cottage just outside Norwich. Very attentive host, great communication. Highly recommended

  • We had a great three nights celebrating our anniversary at Lucy’s place. Well equipped and very comfortable. Log burning tips: use hardwood <20% moisture! Net bags from the garage just don’t burn! We topped up our hardwood logs and they’re just not the same. Love staying here, great location, excellent food just a short walk away and close to lots of places to visit. Highly recommend Lucy, top host - Thank you

    Andrew2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly beautiful and relaxing place to stay, just 8 minutes from Wymondham and 25 minutes from Norwich. It was nice and warm inside the annexe and the heat rose to the bedroom so there was no need to put the bedroom heater on. Everything you needed was there - ironing board, coffee machine, netflix, wood for the fire. Great big bath! Lucy provided butter, milk, cereal, bread. Great wifi. Easy check in/entry. Cute place that we would return to without a doubt.

    Hayley2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute and cosy place to stay, has everything you need to a high standard. I probably would only recommend for shorter stays though as not much space or natural light if wanting to work in the day time

    Phil2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in this cute little annexe. It is set in a beautiful location, surrounded by countryside (some really good walks). Lucy was very helpful throughout our stay and provided fast responses when required. We definitely want to stay again!

  • We recently returned from a 6 night stay over Christmas, the annex is incredibly charming and cosy. It is full of character and has lots of lovely touches. The annex is very well equipped and the kitchen has all the basics you would need for a short holiday. It is situated up up a quiet lane and is very peaceful, with lovely walks and scenery straight from the front door. It is a lovely romantic spot (In fact we got engaged during our stay!) It is well situated for exploring the local area being only a 15 minutes drive from Norwich and 10 minutes to Wymondum which is a small town with all the ammenaties you would expect. Lucy was a fantastic host, thankyou for a truly wonderful stay! Lewis & Gem

Single room in a 1990s build house located in a quite cul-de-sac in the historic market town of Wymondham. Your room overlooks the rear garden that has a bit of a wildlife theme (wildflower 'meadow', native planted pond). The bell ringing at the Abbey can often be heard in the background, as can the whistle from the Mid-Norfolk railway.
The room itself is a small but perfectly formed single bedroom. There's a blackout blind to keep the morning sun from waking you, a chest of draws and large mirror, and side light in addition to the ceiling light. Towels areprovided.
The house is 5 minutes walk to Wymondham Abbey. Nearby is the Tiffey Trail with a path along the river. The town centre is 10 mins walk away, with all the usual amenities including cafes, tea/coffee shops, restaurants, shops, banks, public transport, tourist information, museum and a market on Fridays. There is also a good cycle shop 5 minutes walk away for those coming by/planning to use a bike. This is a cyclist's household and therefore cycle-friendly :)
  • A clean basic single room with comfortable bed and wardrobe space. The bathroom included a bath and very good over bath shower; also towel and shampoo were provided. A cereal breakfast with tea/coffee was included with a table in the kitchen to sit. There is parking space on the driveway.

In the heart of rural mid Norfolk, our recently refurbished, charming one bedroom annexe is perfect for couples. Set in a private walled courtyard garden with own entrance. Although only 2 miles from the market town of Dereham, with all its amenities, it is the ideal spot for unwinding after a busy day visiting Norwich (20 mins), the Broads (30 mins) or the North Norfolk coast (40mins). A truly magical setting for a short break.
Our secluded 300 year old farmhouse is set in 3 acres of paddocks and is home to ducks, chickens, sheep and our working cocker spaniel. We will provide a small welcome pack for our guests including some of our free range eggs.
Bird life abounds, we have visiting swallows, a kingfisher, woodpeckers, buzzards and more. In addition we are surrounded by wild roe deer and muntjacs. Willow Farm is encompassed by farm land and walking trails. This is a peaceful, tucked away property and yet we are only 4 mins drive from the shops and supermarkets.
  • We had a lovely stay in the annexe. Sandra had given us clear directions of how to get there and left a thoughtful welcome pack with scones and some fresh eggs. Very peaceful surroundings, would highly recommend!

    Jennifer2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing little find. It’s sparkling clean and beautifully appointed with thoughtful touches like a proper coffee machine. Sandra adds her wow factor with fresh baked scones, homemade jam and some new-laid eggs. The whole place is peace and quiet away from the madding crowd. The best Airbnb we’ve stayed in within the UK. Would love to visit again soon.

  • I had the good fortune to spend 4 weeks staying here - this place is wonderful! Cosy, spotlessly clean, with everything you could possibly need plus a few thoughtful extras from Sandra. The location is great, so peaceful, and seeing the sheep and chickens every day is a definite bonus! Highly recommended

  • The Willow Farm annex is a delightful little place to stay. The eggs and scones were a perfect welcome to the stay. Its cozy, comfortable and beat staying at a hotel any day

  • Wow wow wow! So my boyfriend and I had the most amazing stay in the annexe, it was such relaxing and exciting time to be there (turned 22 as well!). Would definitely recommend, thanks so much Sandra for everything :D

    Kathryn2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We can’t praise Sandra enough. The annex was an ideal location for our stay, rural but very central to visit different parts of Norfolk. Sandra and Mark made us very welcome and were warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation is exactly how it looked in the pictures and was immaculate, well equipped and nothing had been over looked to make our stay a pleasurable one. There was a welcome pack of home-made scones (very tasty), home-made jam and butter which were absolutely lovely and fresh eggs from the farm hens, milk, a selection of teas and coffees plus other essentials. We also got to meet the resident sheep. We had our own private garden which was full of flowers and enclosed ideal for sitting out and watching the evening sun go down and birds flitting in and out. A detailed information folder with everything you could want to know from local places to eat or shop to emergency details if needed, there was also a plentiful basket of information brochures of things to do. Sandra’s attention to detail was excellent and we would highly recommend a stay here to anyone wanting a first-class break. We will definitely be returning again in 2020. Thank you so much.

    Sharon2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved it at Sandra’s place. The cottage is a delight and has everything you need....lots of welcoming touches! The decor and comfort is first class and the whole cottage is immaculate. We loved the quiet position of the farm and drawing back the curtains to see sheep in the morning. Also loved the walled flower garden where we had coffee outside in the sunshine. Highly recommended....one of the best Airbnbs we have stayed in! Many thanks !

  • This was my second stay at Riona's and it was as wonderful as the first! The bed is so comfortable that I sleep incredibly well, which is rare for me at hotels and BnBs. Riona is a consummate host and even more, she is genuine, accommodating, gracious, down to earth and kind as can be! All her lovely touches are so appreciated and make for what adds up to a five star stay! Thank you Riona...can't wait to visit again!

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Riona is bar none the best Airbnb host I have ever experienced! Being a Superhost myself, I have to acknowledge that she is in a class by herself and takes things to a whole new level! It's truly 5 star service. Her home is absolutely sparkling...so spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished. I slept like an angel in the amazingly comfortable bed with feather pillows and duvet. She leaves thoughtful touches and amenities such as a bottle of water and crystal glass and little candies at night...always beautifully presented. Plus she is always at the ready with a cup of tea or coffee on a sweet little tray with pitcher of milk and sweetener of your choice. Breakfast was fit for a queen...a gorgeous array of fresh fruits, yogurt, granola (she graciously worked with my food allergies) and the table laid to perfection always. I really could go on and on! Suffice to say, I highly recommend Riona's lovely Airbnb and I can't wait to stay again!

    Sarah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Riona’s. She provided continental breakfast, which we very much appreciated and enjoyed. There was plenty of hot water for a bath which was needed for the cold storm we experienced while in Norfolk. The property is clean and she provided towels, and other bath essentials (like shampoo, shower gel etc). As for Riona, where do we start, what can we say... there is a lot to say about this warm, kind and friendly lady. She welcomed us with a smile, interacted with us as and when (without encroaching in our space). Even though we were familiar with Norfolk, she recommended some restaurants. Verity the cat was very friendly, but most days we rarely noticed her. She stayed in her preferred part of the property. We recommend Riona’s property and we would stay there again.

  • Rinoa was a lovely host and made our stay really comfortable. We couldn't have asked for more, and loved our stay. Thank you very much, you're home is beautiful!

  • Thank you for letting me stay Riona! This is one of the best places I have been to, the personal touches and the welcome I received was great. Riona is an amazing host, nothing is too much for her and she could not have done any more to to ensure I had a pleasurable stay. Nice clean house, amazing comfy bed ensuring a good nights sleep. Bathroom smelt amazing. I will definitely be back to stay if I’m ever in the area. Highly recommended.

  • Joe was a welcoming host and was as described. I loved the little touches inside and efforts to remain eco friendly. A lovely selection of breakfast options too. Huge field behind the garden for our dog Holly to stretch her legs. Thanks again - we will be returning.

Joe was very flexible on check in and check out times which made the logistics of our trip a lot smoother as we didn't have a car. The air bnb was very clean and felt very welcoming. Thank you so much.

  • Lovely cottage, had everything we needed. Joe and his lovely wife were lovely. Excellent communication. Space is warm, bed was comfortable and bathroom clean. Joe noted the low door to bathroom but my 6'3 hubby was more than able to cope. We would have no hesitation in recommending Joe's place. We would stay again.

Set in an acre of garden, The Hobby Room is self contained accommodation offering a modern, bright and spacious feel with high ceilings and french doors opening onto patio and gardens. A warm and welcoming place to stay for visitors to Norfolk/Suffolk. Quick access from the A11 (2 mins). SNETTERTON RACE CIRCUIT is only 4 miles away. Private access with ample parking behind secured gates means it's easy to come and go as you please. We're also happy to offer parking for trailers upon request.
The Hobby Room is a bright and airy space, kitted out with everything guests need to feel welcome and relaxed. It has a modern open plan kitchen and living room with high ceilings, leading out onto a private patio accessed through south facing french doors. Outdoor patio furniture gives guests the option to dine alfresco (if the weather permits) with a lovely view of the garden. There's also a sofa bed in the living area, that can be made up upon request for any extra guests at an additional charge per person. The space also includes a washer-dryer and ironing facilities for any laundry needs guests may have. The Hobby Room has access to wi-fi, which is ideal for checking e-mails on your trip away. Please be aware that due to the countryside location of the accommodation, high speed internet might not be reachable. From the accommodation you'll see a paddock with my four handsome resident Alpacas- Maddox, Bramble, Liquorish and Lucius. They are very curious animals, and if you're lucky the boys will come to a nearby gate to say hello. Search @pammiesalpacas on Instagram to get to know the boys a bit better. The garden is also yours to enjoy, so please feel free to make the most of it.
The Hobby Room is located between Attleborough and Great Ellingham. The location of The Hobby Room is easily accessible from the A11, making it an ideal place to stay if you're visiting Norfolk or Suffolk. The vibrant and historic city of Norwich is approximately 25 minutes away by car. Norfolk also offers many beaches and beautiful coastlines, most of which can be reached within an hour. The closest village is idyllic Great Ellingham, with a post office, store and charming local pub. Attleborough is a very close historic market town with two main supermakets and a large variety of cafés, take aways and pubs. Regular trains and buses run from Attleborough including connections to the coast, London and Cambridge. Please note that if you intend to reach The Hobby Room from Attleborough train station, the roads to reach us are unsuitable for walking along so a taxi would be required.
  • What an awesome experience this was. Fantastic location, breathtaking views and just all in a super nice family who made us feel welcome. Cannot recommend this enough. Will definitely be back.

  • We had a lovely, quiet weekend at the Hobby Room. It was just what we needed and more. Clean, spacious, quiet and well kitted out. The alpacas were such a fun extra and it was great to meet them! I really hope we’ll be back again soon - it was so peaceful.

  • Pam is the most wonderful host who goes above and beyond! Some lovely thoughtful touches when entering the accommodation, and the space is very clean, contemporary and practical. Offering privacy and security, the location is also wonderful as it's only a short drive to indulge in a day out to the City (Norwich) or to get some good local food, and enjoy many attractions. Genuinely impressed at everything this accommodation has to offer, and a host where nothing is considered too much trouble. Good communication throughout, and if you visit once, you'll want to stay again!

The Treehouse Game and Stay isn't your usual self catering apartment. It has its own pool table and retro arcade machine exclusively for your use. Situated above our oak framed cartlodge in the grounds of our house on the edge of the 44 acre village green of Old Buckenham. The village has 2 pubs, shop and country walks. The Treehouse accommodates 2+2 and has a double bedroom, shower room and large open plan living area/games room with kitchenette and breakfast bar.
The Treehouse Game and Stay really is an apartment with a difference. Not only do you have a full size slate bed pub pool table, but 60 arcade games from the 70s and 80s in a genuine table top cabinet. Its all on freeplay of course. To continue the retro gaming theme, there's a SNES Mini - a remake of the old Super Nintendo with 270 games installed - so you can relive a misspent youth or show the kids what gaming used to be like. We want you to be entertained, so there is a 43" Smart TV with Netflix subscription, iPlayer etc, The TV is hooked up to a Sonos sound bar with Alexa and a full Spotify subscription. So just ask Alexa to play your favourite tracks. There is of course also a TV in the bedroom as well as little touches like USB sockets by the bed for your phones. The sleeping accommodation consists of a private double bedroom and a large sofa bed in the living area. Please note that the large windows in the end of the living area do not have blinds or curtains - but you are not overlooked. The Treehouse is self catering so we don't provide breakfast, but you will find all the crockery/glasses/pans etc that you need and a full size hob, kettle and toaster - please note there is NO OVEN OR MICROWAVE
We are situated on the edge of the largest village green in England, so great for a stroll over to one of the pubs or further afield on the surrounding public footpaths. There are 2 pubs within a 5 minute walk, a village shop and Old Buckenham Country Park on the edge of the village which also has 'Cafe Cadence', very popular with cyclists. If you are bringing bikes then you can lock them up in our open cart lodge. There are daily events hosted by the Ox & Plough, including poker nights, quiz nights, bands, the famous 'Two Wheel Tuesday' motorcycle meet and Feasty Friday when there is a free chilli on the bar to help yourself to. We are situated 15 miles from the beautiful cathedral city of Norwich, and 3 miles from the market town of Attleborough for local shops, restaurants and pubs. You'll also find New Buckenham only a 5 minute drive or a 40 minute walk across the footpaths - this also has 2 great pubs, a shop and fabulous little cafe.
  • Lovely home! Had a great time, lovely welcome scones left for us on our arrival. Sparkling clean! Hosts very helpful but left us to ourselves unless asked for help :) Would definitely stay again.

    Lisa2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Really really nice. Modern, plenty to do and play with without even leaving the tree house! Bed was comfortable, everything works and even left us some hot cross buns to eat with some water and a few beers in the fridge! 10/10 would go again.

    Matt2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly what it says on the tin! Great games room stay, can’t fault it!

    Alex2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is fantastic. Much more than I expected. From the minute you walk in you can see the love and attention that has gone into the treehouse. The thoughtful little touches of snacks and drinks when you arrive just make it even more special. The games and pool table provide enough entertainment and if you want to relax the Netflix subscription is perfect. Jeremy was really helpful before we arrived with suggesting places to eat and answered all my questions super quick. We will be back for sure. If you are unsure whether or not to book, just do it. You won’t regret it!

  • The cabin was amazing! The place was clean, bigger than we’d expected and in a lovely location by a lake. Kim was a great host, left us milk, tea, coffee etc and put the heating on prior to us arriving to ensure we had a lovely weekend. The cabin included cooking facilities which allowed us to cook a nice evening meal and watch the sun go down. Only downside is that we hadn’t brought our dog with us, as it seemed a great place to take her for a walk. Thankyou Kim for a lovely evening.

The cabin is stunning, it was warm, had milk ready, the beds were very comfy, the shower was lovely, very pet friendly as we were able to walk them around the fields, We will be back again soon x

  • We really enjoyed our short stay at this cabin. It’s a lovely space in a truly idyllic and peaceful spot with a lovely view over the country park. We woke up to the sound of farm animals, which the kids loved. Apple space for a large family with separate dining and lounge areas as well as 2 showers. It was easy to find and get access and Kim couldn’t have done more for us as a host. We’d love to return with my husband in the future. Thank you so much.

  • To stay in this C15th cottage is one of the most magical ways to spend a weekend: traditional wooden beams throughout, a warm fireplace and characterful bedrooms/kitchen/bathroom - all with the modern amenities needed to make your stay convenient yet special. A perfect balance. Would love to visit again.

  • We had a first-class stay at Louise’s charming and unique cottage for our son’s birthday. The special touches were a nice bonus, too. Would recommend.

    Philip2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Such a beautiful cottage. This place is one of a kind with so many thoughtful touches. Louise was a great host!

    Elizabeth2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very quaint and beautiful old cottage. It’s so quirky with the old wooden beams and wood floor. It was exceptionally clean and well equipped. There’s a lovely pub right across the road which we visited twice, local little bakery, chip shop, newsagents and a co op. We visiting Great Yarmouth and Cromer which were also lovely. Would definitely recommend a stay at this gorgeous cottage. Louise was lovely and met us on arrival, we were shown around and even had eggs, milk and chocolate cake from the bakery for us. Thank you for being a spot on host. Emma, Pete, Meg, Jess and Ruby the pooch x

  • Everything you need you’ll have. Plus, you’ll have the charm of a historic place and all you need is to bring your imagination to slip into a far gone century.

    Camelia2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Louise was an attentive, but unobtrusive host. The cottage itself was a unique historical place to spend time in - comfortable and homely, tastefully furnished and with lots of nice touches. Perfect!

    Philip2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely week end at Bank house! Louise is very kind and welcoming, we found whatever we needed in the house, that is full of wounderful details. Everything is well refined, precise, clean, cozy and warm.. it's definitely the perfect cottage and we really enjoyed spending time there! It is exactly as you can see in pictures, even better! We definitely recommend it!!

    Giulia2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Louise was an exemplary host, quick to respond and couldn't do enough to help. She set up the cot and high chair before we arrived and we had cake, milk and eggs (all local) waiting for us on arrival. The place itself was one of a kind, quirky, cosy and tastefully done up with great skill. We enjoyed most simply snuggling by the log burner and going for lovely, crisp, winter walks. It is a great little location too, with a nice pub, bakery, handy Co-Op, etc. all a stone's throw away. I couldn't recommend this place enough. Just a word of warning, remember to duck with those low beams!

This small but cosy annexe sleeps two people comfortably with an open plan living room including kitchenette with dining table and a relaxing living space with tv and WiFi. There is a small and elegant bedroom area with an ensuite bathroom as well as a fabulous established garden for al fresco dining. The owner lives adjacent to the property so there is always help on hand. However you will have complete privacy with your own entrance to the property. All set within a friendly 15c village.
New Buckenham is a 15c village set in the heart of mid Norfolk only 30mns away from the beautiful cathedral city of Norwich. It’s also only a 45mn drive to Norfolk’s varied and picturesque coastline. This small but cosy annexe sleeps two people comfortably with an open plan living area including kitchenette with dining table. There is a comfortable seating area with TV and WiFi. Adjacent to the living/dining room is a small and elegant sleeping space with a separate en suite bathroom/wet room. Outside there is a fabulous established private garden for enjoying evening drinks or al fresco dining. The owner lives adjacent to the property and will usually be there to welcome you and show you around. You will however have complete privacy with your own entrance to the property. A great place to spend some relaxing time out exploring the great county of Norfolk.
The friendly village has a number of amenities within a stones throw. There is a general shop/post office, and a wonderful coffee shop for those who enjoy relaxing over coffee and homemade cake or snacks. We also have two popular pub/restaurants with excellent menus to suit all tastes. There is a historic 14th century church open to visitors and we even have our own castle remains! If you climb to the top of the keep you will enjoy an amazing view of the surrounding countryside. We have a local zoo just a couple of miles away which is a great day out. There is of course not far away the Norfolk Broads where you can hire boats for the day.
  • This was a home from home. Very well set up for a relaxing stay. We arrived late afternoon on the 31 st Dec and Sally was there to go through a few of the basics. The local pubs/restaurants were very friendly and the food was very good quality. I would recommend The Cosy Annexe

  • Sally's place is perfect in every way. Close to pub, coffee shop, restaurant. Sally is a great host and I always look forwards to staying here.

    Margaret2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved staying here; it’s a gorgeous apartment and feels completely like a separate place, rather than an annex. Sally was a great host who gave us a warm welcome. The bed was really comfortable and cosy. There were lovely touches, such as a breakfast table laid out for us. It’s a 2 minute walk from a really good pub with good food. Neither of us could get any phone reception in most of New Buckenham, which didn’t bother us, but it’s worth knowing. There’s WiFi at the property which works well in the living room and kitchen - we were able to video call with no issues at all- good signal. All in all this is a lovely place to stay for a single person or couple and we’d definitely return.

  • Lovely cabin, well equipped, really easy to keep it warm during chilly weather. It was good to have a working kitchen and cook ourselves things rather than always having to go out. I appreciated the compost bin and recycling too - sometimes at Airbnbs I end up taking recycling home as it’s not an option.

    Olivia2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cabin with fields and footpaths right next door for the dogs, nice setting. Everything needed was there well equipped. The host Gill was more than helpful and left breakfast food items for my use including yummy homemade bread. Comfy bed and brilliant shower. Will definitely return
