  • Perfect little bothy, comfortable, cosy and very homely. Equipped with everything you’d need for the perfect stay. Spotlessly clean, great hosts, idyllic setting and great neighbours (the deer). Would definitely recommend.

  • It's a wonderful, quiet place. We really enjoyed our stay. One evening, there was a power blackout and Colin helped us by providing candles and a camping stove. Would recommend any time.

  • This was a good place to base myself for a few days. Cosy and warm. Unexpectedly good WiFi! Kitchen had everything needed. Would suit a couple who want to walk perfectly. Google maps didn’t quite find it but I worked it out. You have to have faith and keep following the track! Hosts easy to deal with and discrete

Situated just 5 miles from Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands and nestled into the wooded hillsides of The Braes of Glenlivet in the North East quadrant of the Cairngorms National Park. From pleasant walking right on your doorstep to fishing, cycling, skiing, canoeing, the whisky & castle trails and lots more to discover, there is something for everyone in the region. Whatever your passion you can rest assured that peace & tranquility await you here at the end of each exciting day.
COVID 19 (CORONA VIRUS) UPDATE: 23rd March 2020. Due to further restrictions imposed today, we will not be accepting bookings before 1st May 2020. If you wish to visit after that date please do book but be aware that if the situation remains the same or worsens, then your booking may have to be cancelled. Wendy & Mike offer respectful guests who share the airbnb ethos, exclusive use of our recently refurbished (October 2019) self catering chalet which sits within our cottage grounds and has its own pedestrian and vehicle access as well as off road parking. With fabulous views of the Brae and it's wooded hillsides, you can enjoy the peace of the countryside whilst being in easy reach of local amenities. Tomintoul (our nearest village) is just 8 minutes by car; there you will find pubs, a general store and post office and two restaurants. There are also two cafes, outdoor clothing & unusual gift shop and a gallery. The Whiskey Castle is a must see whether or not this is your tipple. Information on the area can be found both in the Crown Estates ranger centre & the Tomintoul Discovery Centre. Plenty of folk make this their base for up to a week as there is so much to see & do up here. Within a 90 minute drive lies the whole north east coast with it's myriad of beaches and interesting villages, the Black Isle and of course Loch Ness. If whisky is your thing then you are at the centre of tasting heaven; The Glenlivet is just 10 minutes away. Total privacy is assured. Whisky or Castles, Mountain tops or Lochs, it's all yours here at The Couples Retreat. I have been asked by previous guests to point out that there are animals around the area and that you might hear them at night. There are sheep & cows in the adjacent fields, we are also likely to have stoat, fox, vole, mice, rabbit, hare and deer in the grounds and quite close to the property. We also have owls that hoot at night (yes I'm laughing too).
Being situated on The Crowns' Glenlivet estate in The Cairngorms National Park has many benefits for the traveler, but the main reasons most people come here are the peace & quiet, stunning views and wildlife. If it is outdoor activities you crave then they are also here in abundance, visit the Glenlivet Estate or Cairngorms websites to find your passion.
  • Very clean. Located near nice village and beautiful scenery.

  • A great getaway from the city surrounded by nature and the stars. Highly recommend this. Wendy was a great host and very understanding when we were running late for check out. Could easily have stayed a few more days.

  • Lovely self-catering cottage with a big comfortable bed. Perfect for a couples retreat as the name suggests. Wendy greeted us when we arrived and gave us some visiting tips. Clean quiet place with a private entrance that is well lit at night. We got our food supplies at local town Tomnavoulin. Wendy 's place is well equip for self catering. Perfect location. It's a short drive to the Scalan heritage trail. We also did Carn Daimh forest trail which is about 10min drive away. Glenlivet distillery is also nearby. Definitely worth a tour if you are a whisky fan.

  • The chalet is situated in a very nice and quite place. Wendy and her husband are extremely friendly and will help you in any way possible. The chalet itself is very cosy and modern. You will feel at home at once. If you need any information regarding the area Wendy will help you out since she is very knowledgeable concerning the area.

Situated in the heart of Glenlivet with stunning views of the Packhorse Bridge (the bridge on the Glenlivet Whiskey logo) and the river Livet. Cosy Bridge Cottage is perfect for a quiet and peaceful retreat.
Bridge Cottage is a newly renovated crofters cottage in the beautiful Bridgend of Glenlivet. The ancient Packhorse Bridge can be seen from our garden and is stunning every season of the year. If you're into outdoor activities, castles, whiskey distilleries, clay shooting, scenic drives or just relaxing in a peaceful and cosy environment then Bridge Cottage is the place for you.
Glenlivet Distillery is a short drive or walk from the cottage. The bridge on the Glenlivet whiskey bottle logo is located behind the cottage. It’s beautiful and you can see the first bridge from the kitchen window.
  • Very warm and very welcoming cottage! A real haven of peace! I recommend 100%.

  • Lovely cottage. Very well equipped and cosy

    Miranda2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a clean, comfortable and cozy place to relax. I only stayed for one night and wished it could have been longer! Everything was clean and the decoration is lovely. There were three of us so all had our own room, we found it spacious but still had a cozy cottage atmosphere. There are lots of dvds to choose from and a stack of tourist brochures. The internet connection was great. Although arriving in the dark and leaving promptly the next day, the view of the bridge from the kitchen/ garden was so pretty!

  • The place is cozy, quirky and beautiful too! Your back garden faces a stream with an ancient stone bridge, which gives a special and different touch to the place! I recommend!

  • Good hospitality and nice place along with nice view

    Abhishek2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • A sweet cozy cottage in a beautiful highland setting. We arrived at night, but the view out the kitchen window of the trees, river and pack horse bridge is stunning. It’s an older house, so it has its quirks, but none are bad (the door frames were slightly low for two of us staying there) each space was thoughtfully decorated and I especially loved the Christmas decorations they put up. Little reception, but there’s a huge range of DVDs to play on the TV and wifi. Wish we could have stayed for another night!

    Lauren2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a few days in January at the lovely cottage. The place was very lovely and cozy and the location was magical. Everything was very well-equipped and clean. Carrie and Rob even left us fresh eggs and water in the fridge which we appreciated very much. The communication was easy and quick and the instructions before check-in were very helpful, because there was relatively poor cell phone connection at this location. The WiFi in the cottage is really good so once in the Cottage, the cell phone connection is no issue. There was plenty of information and inspiration about what to do during the vacation even during the winter months. We were sad to leave this place and definitely want to come back. Can highly recommend!

Award-winning Hobbit Hideaway is a unique & beautiful space designed to invoke inner peace & tranquillity. It was handcrafted with love to provide a real sense of warmth & nourishment, a welcome escape from the pressures of daily life. It has been described as being like a giant hug, a place that once you enter, you can't help but smile! We provide a welcome treat, fire-wood, cruelty-free soaps, cooking basics & a variety of fairtrade beverages.
Hobbit Hideaway is sadly closing its doors to visitors for as long as instructed, and following guidance issued today by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon at a media briefing: “To our hotels, B&Bs and self-catering accommodation – you should not be accepting visitors. Provide accommodation for your staff and make yourselves available to help essential workers and support essential services – that is all. "Scotland is a warm and welcoming country and I fervently hope it’s not too long before we are opening our arms and our countryside to visitors again – but right now our priority must be to protect people from this virus, protect our NHS and protect Scotland.” If you've ever wanted to experience living in an exquisite natural home, this is your chance. Hobbit Hideaway is a truly natural home built using locally sourced, plentiful, renewable and recycled materials including straw-bales, round-wood, stone, earth, and clay. It is furnished with a high percentage of pre-loved, re-purpose and recycled treasures. Our visitors can enjoy a low impact holiday, take reusable cups, bottles & bags on days-out, make use of our compost bins & recycling facilities, use ethically purchased, cruelty-free soaps, drink fresh Scottish spring water (as used in Speyside whisky production!) and pick their own fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables, when in season. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and accessible. If you have any special requirements we will do our best to accommodate them. Our electricity is sourced from 100% renewable energy and we provide a JVC bluetooth speaker for your music and free wifi. If you want a technology-free break, simply switch it off or ask us to remove it. Hobbit Hideaway is ideal for four people but it's deceptively spacious, so we provided two additional sleeping spaces so large families or small groups can holiday in style. Taking a low impact, stress-free break has never been easier!
Hobbit Hideaway is nestled into a peaceful valley at the foot of the spectacular Ben Rinnes in Moray, Speyside. There is a multitude of things to see and do nearby, ranging from gentle walks, adventure & wildlife parks to water & snow sports! You can play, walk, run, climb, cycle, surf, sail or simply relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery, rugged coastline, and abundance of wild-life. There really is an experience to be had for almost everyone, including our world-famous Speyside whisky trails, festivals and so much more!
  • Fantastic place to stay, Kim has thought of everything and is an incredibly thoughtful host! We really enjoyed our stay, and can't wait to return. The Fairy Glen is also a great wee walk and has had a lot of thought put into it. Perfect place to go for peace and quiet and if you're lucky enough to get a clear night stargazing is a must.

  • The hobbit hideaway is a wonderful place to say, the house is truly unique. We stayed for a few days with our dog Juno Kim made us all super welcome. Juno was free to run around and there are wonderful local walks to go on. There are so many magical touches to this house and garden you just keep noticing more and more special little touches. It’s really comfortable, and everything you need is catered for I would throughly recommend it and would love to say here again sometime.

  • The hobbit hole is the most wonderful place to stay. The attention to detail is incredible and you can feel the love that has gone into creating the space. It is such a relaxing place to be and everything has been thought of so you have all you need. My daughter loved it and we were all sad that we weren’t staying longer. We can’t recommend it highly enough!

    Tamsyn2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is an incredible venue that is suitable for all kinds of different people. Whilst it’s all about basking in natural properties and economical living, it is very luxurious. The cleanliness throughout makes it extra inviting. It is deceptively bigger than expected, you can even take yourself away for peace and quiet whilst others chat if you like. The lighting is perfect for a cosy ambience by the fire. Every bit of space is perfectly thought out. There are so many thoughtful touches, we brought games, books and food with us and we really didn’t need to as Kim considers all ages and pets! The beds are super comfy, there is everything you need here. The views are outstanding and it is very peaceful. We are just sad we couldn’t stay longer as there is so much to explore. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway to spend quality time together this is your ideal place and you could easily spend a week in the hobbit hideaway and surrounding gardens with plenty to keep you entertained and happy. We would highly recommend this place!

    Amy2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a beautiful and unique property that has clearly been built with so much love. We stayed in the midst of a February storm and were a bit worried we'd be cold, I must admit. But the Hobbit Hideaway is as cosy as can be. Highly recommended 😊

    Louise2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place lives up to any expectat ions you may have. The area is beutiful with much to see and do. The hosts are quick to respond and very considerate. Even though it is out of the way we would come to visit again.

A beautifully renovated Mill surrounded by farmland and hills. We are ideally located on the Glenlivet Estate in the Cairngorms National Park. Our Mill is a gorgeous home-away-from-home option! Whether you are in need of a peaceful weekend retreat or on a family vacation the Mill is the perfect place to stay in comfort and style. The casual luxury of the Mill will take your breath away and put you at ease! Look no further...the Mill is the perfect self catering holiday destination for you!
Auchnascraw Mill was built around the 1830s and was used for grinding oats. It was a working Mill until the mid 1940s. Lots of original features of the Mill have been incorporated into the renovation to maintain its character. Look for details like the exposed stone walls, use of millstones, gear wheel and unique ironwork. The living room features the original flagstone floors and there is underfloor heating throughout the entire downstairs. Keep cozy in front of the wood stove in the living room, while enjoying panoramic views out each and every window. The Mill has been professionally decorated with high-quality furnishings and accessories throughout. The kitchen features top-of the-line appliances (induction range & cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, coffee maker) and is fully equipped for all your cooking needs. You will sleep well in either of our comfortable bedrooms! The master bedroom has a super-king size pillow-top mattress and sofa for lounging. The second bedroom has two single beds with pillow-top mattresses that can be zipped together to create another super-king size bed (please let us know how you would like these beds made up). There is also a sofa bed that can be made into a king-size bed in the upstairs nook between the two bedrooms, which can sleep an additional two people. Currently we do not have a TV but there is free wi-fi. The Mill is also equipped for family fun with lots of games, books and toys to enjoy. There is a washer and dryer in our utility room provided for your convenience.
Auchnascraw Mill is situated in what is locally known as "The Braes of Glenlivet," braes meaning hills, which you can see in every direction. There are many things to do right on your doorstep, from walking, cycling and wildlife watching to just relaxing and enjoying the views of the surrounding Ladder Hills. You can walk to the Scalan and there are many other waymarked walking/cycling routes, including the Smugglers Trails. We are just over a ten minute drive from the village of Tomintoul, known as the "Highest Village in the Highlands" where there are a few shops, cafes, pubs, a restaurant, and art galleries. There is a tourist information centre with a museum and the Glenlivet Estate Office which both have lots of information about the area. Well worth a visit! The Mill is also centrally located for: walking, mountain biking, fishing, golfing, wildlife watching, whisky trails, skiing at the Lecht and Cairngorms, visiting the castle routes (Drumin, Corgarff, Ballindalloch and Balvenie to name a few), coastal trails, many towns and more! You can explore the Highlands, Moray coastline, Cairngorms, and Royal Deeside in day-trips from the Mill and look forward to coming back to relax at the end of your day. Here are some distances to some popular towns/sight seeing destinations: •15 minutes to the world famous The Glenlivet Distillery •20 mintues from Glenlivet Mountain Bike Centre (great trails and a super cafe) •30 minutes to Grantown-on-Spey, Aberlour & Dufftown •45 minutes to Aviemore and the Cairngorms •50 minutes to Elgin, Huntly, Fochabers, Forres •1 hour to the Moray Coast/Moray Firth (Lossiemouth, Findhorn, Spey Bay, Nairn, Burghead, Portknockie, Cullen) •75 minutes to Inverness and 90 minutes to Loch Ness
  • The mill is a stunning place to stay with amazing views. It is well equipped so that you can bring groceries with you and be able to cook just about anything. There is also a good selection of games and books for a rainy day or just enjoy sitting by the log fire. In good weather the location makes it easy to go for walks through the cairngorms which are a must see if you are staying here! The mill is spotless and has a lot of character to make for a cozy place to be

  • This is a place that has to be seen to be believed. The attention to detail that's gone into renovating the mill and the outstanding hospitality from Megan and Sean have made our stay here over New Years an absolute delight. Whether you come in summer, winter or in between - if this is your home in the Scottish highlands, you're in for a treat!

    Elena2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in the old mill. Would highly recommend!

    Daniel2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • The mill house is a beautiful place for a get away. We were just a couple but it could hold 4-6 people as a group comfortably. The decoration is so tasteful and the original mill features are really cool. With a fire and under floor heating it is so cosy and the lounge area and outside area are great for hanging out there. The kitchen has EVERYTHING you could possibly want to use - you’d probably have all the tools you’d need for making a Christmas dinner! There’s lots of information in the house about local walks and activities from this remote location. We couldn’t have asked for a better property for our trip! Thank you for having us!

    Susan2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • A warm welcome and stunning property and location.

    Karen2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This renovated Mill will surpass your expectations. Amazing architecture, attention to detail (fresh flowers in many of the windows), beauty views from every window in every room. Megan and Sean thought of every single thing a guest might need, and I mean everything! Greeted by Megan with a scrumptious lemon bread, logs in the hearth ready to burn. Heated floors were to die for. Megan and Sean are definitely superhosts and we cannot wait to come back to this beautiful haven in the Cairngorms. Barb, Ari and Alexis

    Bj2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing experience, the house is beautifully decorated, comfortable and clean. Megan and Sean are formidable hosts, with small details that made the whole difference. My only regret is that we didn't stay any longer !

    Marc2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutly fabulous!! Megan & Sean were fabulous hosts. The old mill is lovely, felt at home the moment we walked in the door. Centrally located in the heart of whiskey country but off the beaten path. We cannot wait to book again!

  • A stylish, peaceful getaway. This was our second visit and it was just as good as we remembered. The only downside is the shower which could be more powerful.

  • This was our second visit to Yvonne’s beautiful cottage, and we couldn’t have been happier. Glenarder is the perfect spot to switch off and relax, explore the local whisky distilleries and nearby towns. The house is very well equipped and we really appreciated the basics (butter, bread, milk and eggs) on arrival. The views are breathtaking! We hope to visit again!!

    Charlotte2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Glenarder is a really cosy cottage in the middle of the countryside with stunning views and located closely to the Cairngorms. The property is really well equipped with lots of useful instructions and information about the area. We were 2 couples and a 2 year old and there was plenty of space. Would really recommend staying here and we especially loved visiting the lochs and mountains in the cairngorms. *Note: a lot of places were closed until late Feb/March which we were hoping to visit i.e. castles, steam railway etc. Worth checking before booking!!

    Steph2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this typical traditional stone cottage, set appropriately out in the vast hills with just one distant house visible, yet just minutes from Knockando. We had deliciously cold weather and wind (quoting Adam Nicolson, ridiculous weather) and loved it. The house is really comfortable. Also practical. Very warm, all mod cons. Soft carpet in the main bedroom, rugs in the lounge. Library full of books. Cook books in the kitchen. The best writing spot ever in the kitchen, in the window space, looking over the hills. Just wish we'd had more time there.

    Janine2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage and its location are a delight. It is wonderfully situated to explore Speyside, while providing a quiet retreat. Highly recommended.

    Angus2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Glenarder Cottage is located at a unique spot surrounded by the impressive Scottish Speyside Highlands. It's carefully curated interior provides the perfect setting for memorable experiences. A fully equipped kitchen, a fireplace and the comfortable beds make it a very pleasant place to stay. Glenarder is a basecamp for nature lovers to enjoy the great outdoors of this beautiful part of Scotland.

    Miriam2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage and location is just perfect for a get-away, especially if you’re running away from a busy city life. Things to consider: 1- You have to have an SUV. 2- During winter, it gets really cold, even inside the cottage. 3- If it snows, transportation would be a bit difficult if your vehicle is not suitable for such conditions.

    Ahmed2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Yvonne’s place is absolutely beautiful, the cottage has everything you could ever need for a cosy few days! It will always be a lovely memory for me getting ready here on the morning of my wedding and all the lovely touches from Yvonne, hope to come back with family x

Wild Farm Cottage is situated on the beautiful Glenlivet Estate in the Cairngorms National Park. Only three miles north of Tomintoul, the location of the cottage is both exclusive and remote with a hot tub, sauna and plunge pool included.
Whether you want to watch local wildlife, be energetic around the local Glenlivet Mountain Bike Trails, fish in the nearby lochan or just relax in the hot tub and sauna, Wild Farm Cottage is the perfect location. There is plenty to see and do in the area. 'A wonderful haven' - Tony, Andrea, Izzy and Sophie, Oct 2015 'A perfect place to relax and unwind' - Lesley and Helen, Sept 2015 'One of the best views in the whole of Scotland' - Jon, Kirstie and Evie, August 2015 'A stunningly beautiful place and a great place to experience nature' - Greg and Paul, July 2015
The closest village is Tomintoul which is three miles away. It has a good pub but you may wish to do your grocery shopping in a bigger town (Aviemore or Grantown) before your arrival. The remote site of the cottage is great for wildlife, including roe deer, red deer, brown hares, pine marten, wild cat ( very shy ), rabbits, buzzards, osprey fishing in summer, kestrel, hen harrier, tawny owl, barn owl, short eared owl, raven, blue tits, coal tits, great tits, chaffinches and many more.
  • Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting.

    Fern2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cottage with beautiful views. We stayed 10 nights for our honeymoon. The hot tub and sauna were very relaxing and we really enjoyed the games room too. Most of all we loved the wildlife around the cottage. So many deer and birds, we were entertained for hours. Tilly was very helpful and even came and refreshed the hot tub water for us during our stay. I also got the chance to read 2 of her books about reindeer which were very interesting. I'm sure we will be returning soon!

    Rebekah2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • It is a great place. In a remote valley. We had it for my husbands 30th birthday and it was perfect. A cozy house, great walking possibilities and lets not forget the very well maintained hot tub. Thanks a lot again!

    Helena&Lasse2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place looked amazing from the pictures but they still couldn't do justice to how beautiful and private the property was or the incredible experience of watching the deer graze right in front of us all evening. Tilly was incredibly gracious and we really enjoyed our "off the grid" yet comfortable experience.

    Chad2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage experience is somewhat difficult to accurately describe, because it is so beautiful & unique. The setting is bucolic, serene & one of a kind. The deer running past through the pastures in front & behind the cottage are breathtaking. Watching the stars at night while sitting in the hot tub is a sheer indulgence & unique experience. We loved our stay so much and hope to return again!

    Michelle2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic, peaceful weekend for our family. Beautiful views. Wonderful welcome from our host Tilly. Hot tub, sauna and plunge pool an added bonus!

    Abi2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the cottage was an absolutely magical experience. We loved the view, the coziness of the space, the hot tub under the stars,... all of it. I would definitely stay here again

    Ian2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Tilly was our host for our short stay at Wild Farm. Communication with Tilly was excellent and she kindly met us at Tomintoul so we could follow her to the house. Upon arrival Tilly was very thorough, going through all the instructions in terms of the facilities and the power to the house which we had no issues with after she left us to it. The hot tub was a feature we particularly enjoyed, especially in the evenings. We wish we could have stayed longer to explore the area further as we had a wonderful relaxed time at the farm and would definitely return.

The cottage is over 200 years old and has just undergone renovation. Surrounded by garden with ample parking space, it sits on a hillside overlooking the glen. Although this is a rural location we do have WIFI, Broadband and mobile reception - though the latter is usually found in the garden and not in the house itself. Not entirely out in the wilderness, there is a nearby village, Tomintoul, with pubs, village shop, cafes and restaurants, a lovely gift shop and the famous Whiskey Castle shop.
Your bedroom is a light and airy room with a large skylight above the double bed from where you can lie and watch the stars on clear nights. The night skies here are truly breath-taking (as they should be as we have Dark Sky designation here). The shower room is shared and has all new plumbing. A full Scottish breakfast (also a vegetarian version), or a lighter breakfast, can be ordered (just let us know when you book) for £8 each, and is served in the kitchen diner. The snug, which is available to you to sit and relax in, has an open fire for cooler evenings (although of course the cottage has central heating) and coffee and tea making facilities. The garden is also for you to enjoy. .
The cottage is situated in the Cairngorms National Park which is an area of outstanding natural beauty. The cottage itself is nearly 1000 feet above sea level and looks down over the glen. Scottish wildlife abounds: deer, reindeer, owls, eagles, red squirrels, badgers, hares and many more. The nearby mountains offer glorious opportunities for climbing and hill walking. Add fishing, canoeing, cycling, touring the many distilleries on the Whiskey Trail, exploring old Scottish castles, organised picnics in the wilds -reached by landrover or argocat, and much more. Glorious beaches also are reachable in just over an hour's drive north. Further info on such can be obtained online from the Tomintoul Discovery Centre, and we have plenty of information leaflets for you to browse in the cottage.
  • Ruth was a great host she made me feel very welcome on arrival. The room was warm and cozy. It also had a skylight so I could watch the stars in bed! I was served and enormous Scottish breakfast in the morning and Ruth was very helpful in giving me tips on the things to do and see nearby. Such a beautiful peaceful area surrounded by nature, just what I was looking for! I would highly recommend staying with Ruth. Thanks for a lovely time, hope to see you again soon x

  • Incredible value. Place is much bigger than expected, amenities were great, and location was central for a day of distillery tours being walking distance from Glenlivet Distillery.

  • Linda's is a great place to stay. The landscape is beautiful, there's a castle nearby undergoing maintenance, and lots of distilleries within a short drive. The house was very clean and well supplied, with lots of space. I would gladly stay there again.

    Jerridan2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very clean and well fitted with kitchen utensils, washing machine as well as dishwasher. If you’ve rented a car it’s a perfect spot to discover the highlands as it’s “close” to most things and not to mention proper crawling distance from the Glenlivet distillery! Only minus would be that the tiny village doesn’t have a proper pub but if someone is ok to drive there is a few not too far away. Lovely stay and Linda was always quick to answer any questions we had. Would love to come back again!

    Lotta2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Linda’s place is wonderful! It is beautifully decorated and well stocked with anything you could need to cook with. It is extremely clean and very comfortable. We loved the all the Scottish touches in the decorations. The beds were extremely comfortable. The view from the front door out over the hills was amazing and you really are a very close to Glenlivet Distillery. Blairfindy castle is across the street and though it is being worked on right now it will be awesome as part of the view later on. Linda was GREAT at communicating in a timely manner. We wish we could have stayed longer at her fantastic place.

  • Beautiful manor situated atop Glenlivet Distillery in a wonderful location overlooking the valleys. Formerly the hunting lodge of the Estate’s owners, staying here was truly special and exciting. Margrete is a wonderful host and prepared a sumptuous breakfast in the dining room. Aside from the surrounding distilleries, a visit you must not miss out on is Ballindalloch Castle with a unique insight into the living quarters and gardens. Definitely worth it!

    Pablo2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Nestled on the hill overlooking the Glenlivet Distillery we enjoyed a magnificent view from an exceptional home. You will enjoy a typical English interior and, in the living room, a fire crackling, appreciable even in August! Margrete is a charming hostess who will delight you with a hearty and traditional breakfast, always in a beautiful setting.

    Thibault2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Margrete was an incredible host. She welcomed us warmly into her beautiful home and looked after us as if we were family. After 6 weeks of travel on the road this was exactly what we needed. I would highly recommend staying here to anyway travelling across Scotland.

Close proximity to Glenlivet (2mikes walk?) and driving to other distilleries and sightseeing like old bridges and Pictish stones. Tito’s was the Best Scottish breakfast we had in Scotland ... could it perhaps be the best in the world? try it and decide for yourself :)

Ben Rinnes Highland Lodges are situated in picturesque Glenrinnes, in the heart of Scotland’s Malt Whisky country. We are two excellently equipped wooden holiday lodges nested at the foot of Ben Rinnes, on the B9009 five miles from the Malt Whisky capital of the world, Dufftown. Ben View is a beautiful one double bedroom lodge.
  • Great host and accommodation, ideal size for 2. Everything as described. Very convenient for the hills. Thanks

  • We had a lovely stay an Ben View. The lodge is set in a great location with a wonderful view of Ben Rinnes. It was well equipped with everything we needed and even though it was snowing when we visited, the lodge was nice and warm with the heating and the track and entrance had been gritted. The location is handy for visiting the Cairngorms or north into Moray, and there was useful information about local attractions which actually led to us changing our plans. Overall, Helen was a great host and I'd absolutely recommend a getaway at the lodge!

    Alexander2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place, excellent chalet also in winters. Beautiful view and very close to several distilleries.

  • We visited the lodge to celebrate my wife's birthday with a long weekend away, and we have to say the lodge is absolutely beautiful and set in a very scenic area with top notch facilities within. We had everything we needed and the lodge was immaculately clean with super efficient heating inside which really helped to quickly heat up the lodge! Helen, our host was also absolutely fantastic. There was great communication from the very start of our booking, all the way to the end and beyond. She was extremely helpful with local tips and advice, and prepared some helpful materials in the lodge regarding the local area. The lodge is a unique getaway, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a scenic and convenient location to stay with the Cairngorms National Park, and the great single malt whisky capital of the world at your doorstep. The stunningly frosted hills in the morning and the clear, star-filled skies at night left us lost for words and in awe. We also really appreciate the unexpected surprise Helen and her family left us for my wife's birthday, and their level of heartfelt hospitality really went above and beyond our expectations. Thank you so much Helen to you and your family, and we'll definitely love to return to your wonderful lodge in the future!

    Shona2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Exceeded my expectations, clean and comfortable with a few added touches such as slippers, towels and reading material. Has everything you need for an overnight stay. Myself and boyfriend where visiting the Glenlivet distillery which is walking distance from the bunkhouse, the only problem we had was not bringing any food to cook in the microwave for dinner but Colin from the distillery managed to get us a lift to the Delnashaugh Inn for a lovely meal and a lift back for a small donation to Andrew the driver. Would highly recommend Margarite as a host and the accommodation 😁

  • A wonderful spot in nature!

    Zoe2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • It was really lovely, a tiny bit adventurous in the most positive way, absolutely beautiful and Ellie and Harold were wonderful loveable hosts. We will come back here most definitely. If you as a guest are okay with some rural livestyle, stay here and listen to the sound of waves of wind in the trees

    Jana2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful hut in the woodland forest, so peaceful with the most helpful hosts!

  • We had an extremely relaxing experience here. We were received very warmly even despite our late arrival, and the escort to the hut was great. Very exciting to walk through the dark woods! Had a great chat with the owner too. The hut was lovely, and there wasn't anyone else in sight, even though it took about a minute to walk back to the shared area where there was wifi and all kinds of amenities. Amazing stay for nature lovers! We had a great time sitting by the fire, enjoying the silence.

    Esther2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • These guys are genuinely the perfect hosts! Very lovely and approachable, they showed us around when we arrived and checked in on us whenever we ran into each other. The space was wonderful too, VERY comfy beds and more spacious than you expect! The hut is away from other tents/the main house and is very private. There is also an outside seating area which is covered from the rain, and a fire pit. Recycling and food waste bins were provided so it was easy to be eco friendly. Heaters are provided so the space was easy to heat up; we were very cosy. It was amazing to wake up in the forest with the birds singing and the light coming through the window! The shower is amazing, very easy to use and well built with plenty of hot water, and quality bio friendly toiletries are provided (which smelled amazing). There are a lot of leaflets and tips for things to do around the area in the kitchen/eating space (located at the main house close by), as well as walks we could do around the grounds. The directions are easy to follow and there is loads of free parking on the premises. Overall, we would wholeheartedly recommend this space to anyone!

    Rob2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay, perfect if you are looking for a step up in comfort from camping without losing any of the rugged wilderness feel. The hut/tent is very easy to get to but feels wonderfully remote, we loved relaxing by the fire in a secluded clearing watching the sun set through the trees. Ellie and Howard are great hosts, helpful and welcoming. We will certainly be recommending the space to friends and returning soon.

The Barn is located on the original Ruthrie Estate. It has been converted to comfortable standards to welcome guests
  • You will not regret booking your stay here! The location was easy to find with clear signs that you could see from the road. It is welcoming and cozy from the time you drive up and only improves the more you see. Michelle greeted us quickly with a warm smile and great explanations of everything available. She also was able to answer our questions about the area and provide recommendations. The Barn is beautifully done and kept. The white sheets and towels smelled wonderful and make it so comfy to snuggle up. There is a wood-burning stove to add ambiance, but also radiator heat to keep you warm. We used the kitchen for both breakfasts and dinners, finding it well equipped and easy to use. The bathroom has a great shelf to spread out your toiletries which is using lacking in other places. We received quick responses to all our questions and found our hosts extremely kind and helpful, like most of the people we met in Scotland. We used The Barn as a home point to explore the Highlands, driving all over the beautiful countryside. It was an amazing trip and we would not hesitate to return and stay here again.

    Madison2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Just had the most incredible Christmas stay in The Barn. The space itself was beautiful, cosy and luxurious. Definitely a case of the photos not doing it justice. The hosts were incredible. They were generous, warm and helpful. We even received an unexpected Christmas gift under our tree from them! Truly exceptional, can not recommend enough. Will be back.

    Ben2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Booked on behalf of my colleague who was in the area for work. Michelle's place was clean and cosy and communication was excellent.

    Kay2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous place to stay in a fabulous area. The barn was really cosy and had everything you need plus lots of nice little touches (bathrobe, Nespresso etc). We absolutely loved our stay and look forward to coming back!

  • Just amazing! Such a cosy, quirky place to stay

    Lauren2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you're thinking about staying here, go ahead and click book!! This place is even more gorgeous than the photos show. The barn is super cosy and has everything you need. Location is perfect for exploring Speyside and visiting local distilleries (Aberlour Distillery is walking distance). Would absolutely stay again.

    Sarah2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were at The Barn for 2 nights. It was awesome. Michelle gave this darling place her own special touches. We would definitely recommend it to others.

    Sharon2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • What an awesome destination! Do not pass up this gem of a location. Right in the heart of whiskey country. Whiskey distilleries are easily accessed and easy drive to the sea. The barn is cozy, with everything you need on your travels. The wood stove, burning cask staves, makes the dram taste even better! A great place for a couple to enjoy together. This was our favorite lodging from a 2 week tour of Scotland.

Aspen Croft is a self-catering stone cottage set amidst beautiful surroundings on the Glenlivet Estate, near both the rivers Avon and Livet. The property is situated within the Cairngorm National Park boundaries. My place is close to ... Cairngorm mountains; Lecht ski centre; Malt Whisky trail; walking & hiking trails; mountain biking; prime fishing areas, prime wildlife watching areas. My place is good for couples, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
Aspen Croft is traditionally decorated and has a fully equipped dining area/kitchen complete with automatic washing machine/tumble drier. The lounge area has ample seating for 5 guests around a cosy, open fireplace and we supply wood/coal to keep you warm throughout your stay. There are two bedrooms - master bedroom with 1 x double bed and second bedroom with 1 x double bed and 1 x single bed. We can also provide a cot for child under 12 available on request. Bathroom has bath with shower over installed. The cottage has a large, well maintained garden and there is plenty of space for two cars to park within the property boundaries. The garden is fully fenced and is child and pet friendly. *Bed linen and towels provided. *Starter supply of wood/Coal provided for first night. (more available at Tomnavoulin Post Office or Tomintoul stores.) *Free parking.
Aspen Croft is a detached property with no immediate neighbours apart from our other property, Eden Vale (separated by a field). Being in a rural location, there is plenty of wildlife to be seen and hares, rabbits, badgers, foxes, wildcats, owls, birds of prey and other critters can sometimes be seen in the garden and surrounding area. It is also not unknown for local sheep to wander into the garden - if this happens then feel free to heard them gentle and calmly back out of the garden or give us a call. If you are staying with your dog, please keep your dog inside until the sheep vacate the premises - especially in lambing season.

  • Amazing place, can’t recommend highly enough for anyone looking for a weekend in the Cairngorms. The hut is beautiful and Kevin and Claire are wonderful hosts. Staying here was a real treat.

    Callum2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous two night break in this idyllic part of the world. Kevin and Claire were fabulous hosts from start to finish and the shephards hut was just perfect. Can't wait to return again.

    Victoria2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • If you like cozy and peaceful, this place is perfect. The hut is just off the Snow Roads scenic route, so it is perfectly positioned for exploring either the route itself or the rest of the National Park. It is surrounded by farmland, so when you are in, you will only hear farm animals, birds, wind (and rain every now and then - it’s Scotland after all). It is incredibly peaceful. The hut itself is very well equipped - it has a comfortable bed, proper little fire place, great shower, fridge with a little freezer, crockery, cutlery, kettle, toaster, utensils, tea, coffee, milk, salt, pepper... exactly the things you might need for a short stay. (The wifi is strong and fast, too, should you need it.) A nearby town of Tomintoul has a small village store and a couple of restaurants, but Grantown on Spey is not too far if you need a supermarket or more restaurants. Kevin and Claire were very helpful at the time of booking and very welcoming upon my arrival. Overall, I would love to come back and stay again and I would highly recommend the hut to anyone who is looking to book.

This country cottage has woodlands on your doorstep, great views from the top of our hill and is right in Speyside whisky country with fishing, walking and many other outdoor activities. You’ll love the cosy log fire, fully-equipped kitchen and outside seating area. It's perfect for couples, friends, families (with 1 or 2 kids) and one well-behaved dog. In the bedroom there's a comfy double bed and a double sofa bed is available in the living room. Just re-listed after a long-term let.
The cottage is small but perfectly formed, at the near end of the building as you look at the main picture. It's furnished in a rustic, country style with everything you need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Being a one-bedroom cottage, the space ideally suits a couple or small family but can stretch to four adults travelling together. A travel cot and 'next to me' crib is available for babies.
We have 10 acres of beautiful woodland on our doorstep which you are welcome to explore. Close by are many whiskey distilleries, gardens, castles and other lovely places to visit. We are very close to the Rothes Mountain Bike Trail, starting from the bottom of our drive where you can cycle off road for miles. Rothes is a 5 minute drive away for shopping and local pubs and restaurants (like the Station Hotel), and the bigger towns of Elgin or Aberlour 10-15 mins drive. If you're here on a Wednesday and like gardening, you'll be very welcome to come and help out in the polytunnel where we grow our vegetables.

Beautiful farm setting that's easy enough to reach by car. We used it as a home base for our Scotch tours and it couldn't have fit our purpose better.

  • Howard was a very friendly host, and the cottage was exactly what I needed - quiet, clean, and with a wi-fi connection. The cottage is set in some truly beautiful countryside, and Howard was kind enough to direct me through potential walking options within the grounds and surrounding area. • The Tack Room is a wonderful, cozy apt with spectacular views through French doors over rolling farm fields and the hills in the distance. Comfortable real king size bed(this was a thrill after other places in the U.K. with double beds), modern & very usable kitchen, nice sitting room...and there was milk for us, eggs from their farm, homemade cookies & jam. What a winnner! Easy drive to Aberlour & other whiskey areas, and if you’re a walker, you could walk to town or to The Macallan distillery( really worth the visit no matter how you go-even if the tours are booked, a visit to see the architecture of the new “experience” is amazing, and they have a wonderful cafe with great breakfast & lunch). Fave restaurant-the Copper Dog in the Craigellachie Hotel....super easy drive there, great atmosphere & food, much better than the Mash Tun in my opinion. I loved our stay, and I miss the farm’s chickens & pigs....unique!!

  • Wow! What a beautiful and special place. My boyfriend and I came to Speyside to enjoy some scotch whisky tours and adventure through all the little adorable towns. This was the most perfect place to stay. The house itself has beautiful touches, wonderful amenities, warm, cozy and was super clean. The hosts greeted us as we entered the driveway and showed us around the property, making sure we were all set and comfortable. We absolutely loved the fresh milk and eggs in the refrigerator (they were delicious!). Markets, coffee shops, whisky shop, restaurants and pubs are all very close (a few minutes drive). I can’t wait to visit this area again and, of course, stay at the same AIRBNB! I highly recommend it.

  • The old tack room was a wonderful experience! Kate and Mark met us as we arrived and gave us a tour of the accommodation as well as some helpful tips on local dining and whisky distilleries. The space is lovely - large, wonderfully clean and stylish, and had some lovely additions in the kitchen (eggs from Mark and Kate’s chickens which we devoured for breakfast our first morning, and home made cookies and jam!). Overall a great spot, lovely hosts and beautiful accommodation. We would definitely book again :)

A cosy comfortable cottage in the grounds of Glenlivet House, surrounded by gardens and countryside. On The Glenlivet Estate in The Cairngorm National Park and on The Malt Whisky Trail. It is close to The Glenlivet Distillery, ideal for parties of whisky/other enthusiasts. The Tomintoul Spur of The Speyside Way walking trail passes directly past the property, and it is in the newly designated Tomintoul and Glenlivet Cairngorms Dark Sky Park - the most northerly in the world.
Glenlivet House Cottage is a converted steading with a lovely cosy feel. It has 7 bedrooms, all but 2 are twin rooms, there is one single room and one with a small double plus single bed in it. There are 2 bathrooms, one shower room and a total of 4 WCs. There is a large upstairs sitting room with open log fireplace, and plentiful seating in both the dining/reception room, and kitchen. It is self-catering, and there is an AGA cooker in the well equipped kitchen, as well as a large drying/boot room. SKY TV and WiFi (usually) are available.
We are a short 5 min walk away from The Glenlivet Distillery. The Cairngorm National Park offers a range of outdoor activities, but in the main, walking, cycling, golf, fishing, stargazing and sightseeing keep people busy, along with visiting distilleries or just enjoying the Scottish hospitality.

  • A beautiful property in lovely grounds just a 5 minute walk from the Glenlivet distillery. There were 11 in our party from all over Scotland coming together to celebrate my father-in-law’s 80th birthday, we cooked every night and the kitchen is well equipped - the Aga making catering a breeze. We stayed in November but the house was warm and cosy (even the old folk were warm!). Would highly recommend for a large number of people coming together, plenty of room, comfortable and very cosy. Thanks Maggie.

  • My second stay at Glenlivet House Cottage. Fantastic house and hosts. Accomodated our party of 12 and 2 dogs comfortably. Well located for trips to Elgin, Aviemore and the wider Cairngorms. A short walk to the Glenlivet distillery, which is worth a tour, likewise the wider whisky trail. Communication and welcome from Maggie and Henry was faultless. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Just a 2 minute drive from the picturesque village of Craigellachie, The Pines is set high on a hillside with spectacular panoramic views of Ben Rinnes and the Spey Valley. It is the perfect base for exploring Speyside, whether you are here for the whisky, the fishing, the walking or just want to relax. The beautiful Moray Coast is less than 30mins drive away. Aberdeen is 1.5hrs drive and Inverness just over 1 hour. There is so much to do and see here - you will be spoiled for choice!
You will be staying in our self-catering studio apartment which, although attached to the house, is completely self-contained and has its own entrance via patio doors to the front. Beds can be configured as two singles or one Super-King. Please let me know which you would prefer. The kitchen area is well equipped, with a good sized fridge, microwave, table top one ring induction hob/stove, kettle and toaster, pans, dishes etc. If you need something that's not there - just ask!
Literally on the doorstep is a most beautiful walk along the quiet road as it winds its way up towards Ben Aigan. There are magnificent views towards Aberlour and Dufftown. The peace and quiet - and the chance to spot wild deer in Spring/Summer - makes this a very pleasant stroll in the evening. Craigellachie's most famous landmark is the Telford Bridge and it is well worth visiting. Have a wander down to the beach under the bridge and take a stroll along the river bank. You can walk from Craigellachie along the Speyside Way to Aberlour (2miles) where there are many interesting shops, galleries and eating places. The Dufftown Spur of the Speyside Way follows the River Fiddich. It is approx 4 miles long and passes the delightful 1950s 'Sidings Cafe' - a cafe in a converted railway carriage and a lovely place to stop for a coffee and cake or lunch. Distilleries in the area are too numerous to mention individually here, but a visit to the Craigellache Cooperage is a must. See these highly skilled coopers at work as they make and repair whisky barrels to be sent all over the world. The Knockando Woollen Mill is another 'must see'. It is a beautifully restored traditional working mill and museum, transporting you back in time. Take a while to sit in the gardens and soak up the atmosphere. If you have time, a drive along the coast is highly recommended. There are many quaint sea-side villages and harbours, some dating back to the 17th century. Portsoy and Cullen are particularly attractive. Spey Bay is home to the Scottish Dolphin Centre. If it's golden sands you're after, then Lossiemouth is the place to go. Don't forget your camera! There is so much more to do and see in the area. Depending on how long you are staying for, George and I will be very happy to help you plan your itinerary!
  • The accommodation was excellent, a beautiful place to relax with fantastic view. We highly recommend The Pines and Linda e George, two very kind people that we are very happy to have met. We would definitely stay there again.

  • Suite: Great cozy suite in the countryside. Nice view from the front on a sunny day. Had everything we needed including cooking tools. A little bit of food for breakfast (bread and cereal) Hosts: Linda and George were really nice. They provided helpful instructions on how to find the home. They also graciously offered to drive us into town and pick us back up so we could drink at the local pub. Location: As mentioned above, the place is quite secluded and quiet. There is no official address so it may be hard for taxis or tour companies to come pick you up.

  • My wife and me spent two nights at her cottage to hike in the national park. The place is a small cottage, where you get a small room. The bathroom is shared with the owner. The biggest reason for the 5* rating is Felicity herself, who is a very caring, helpful and interesting Person. Thanks again for the good times, Best

    Simon2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Phenomenal stay with Felicity! Space was clean and warm, with little touches to help on a cold day! Would recommend in heart beat to anyone who was heading that way

  • We really enjoyed our stay in this wee cosy place. Felicity was very welcoming and put us at ease straight away. Breakfast was tasty (I would recommend the full Scottish breakfast) and the puppy adorable. I would stay again and recommend Felicity's place.

  • A good base to start or continue the whiskey distillery visits. Request for traditional or local food and Felicity would be able to whip up an awesome treat. Pray for clear skies as the area is a Dark Sky region.

Glenlivet - Hillview cottage located in the Cairngorms Mountain Park was part of the Glenlivet Whisky Distillery up until 1952. The cottage retains much of it's cosy feeling with the warmth of wood through-out the cottage. • Fiona was a delightful host who welcomed us into the ensuite space upstairs in her home. The room had everything we could have needed for a nice stay, and on top of that she made a wonderful full breakfast each day at a time of our choosing. it is a perfect staging ground for a few days in the Cairngorms and a great value to boot.
