  • Andrea and her family made us feel very welcome! Her apartment is quaint, quiet, and comfortable. Their dog, Milo, made our stay even more enjoyable! It was the perfect relaxing and low-key get away.

  • Great communication with Andrea, easy to book. I made this reservation for an employee and they had a wonderful stay and experience!

  • We had a short one night stay in this magical cabin in the woods. Andrea and her husband have done such an amazing job with this eco friendly house. Andrea met us on arrival, showed us around and suggested a couple of trails. There's a short trail on their property itself that takes you to a little creek. It is lovely. The kitchen has everything you need and the bedroom is cozy and comfortable. Andrea provides eco friendly and soap free products and encourages recycling and composting food scraps. Just loved the whole experience. Also Milo (their dog) is just a darling!!

  • We were made very welcome by a lovely family. Wished we could have stayed longer.

    Jo2016-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely weekend! We really enjoyed the cozy apartment and the scenic area. Milo was a added bonus. Thank you for your hospitality!

    Maya2015-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea was very helpful in communicating the details of our arrival, etc. We found the accommodations to be perfect for our needs. We definitely will return to this tranquil, clean and beautiful setting.

  • This was the perfect spot for a weekend getaway! Andrea made us feel right at home, and gave us great tips on what to do in the area. The apartment was comfortable, clean, and beautifully decorated. I can't wait to come back!

  • Andrea, John, Ava, and Milo were awesome hosts! They really made us feel at home with their hospitality. Their backyard reminds me of an enchanted forest with tall trees and a lovely stream. Definitely a place to kick back and relax or enjoy Vermont's beautiful scenery. Thank you guys!

The Cottage at Long Pond is a modern, up-to-date 1,585sf home beautifully sited on 3/4 acres with 385 feet of direct waterfront offering unspoiled views. The water is deep on one boundary but also offers a sandy beach & dock. Kayaks & Canoe available when appropriate, snow shoe or cross country ski on lake or ski Sunappee. We offer a main level master bedroom suite, living area w/ fireplace & eat-in kitchen. Close to many fun things to do. Search Vimeo for The Cottage at Long Pond for video.
The cottage is rustic yet provides all the modern comforts of home from a fully equipped kitchen to the master bedroom suite offering both verdant and azure views of the lake and mountain ridges. During warmer seasons the combination of sandy beach and shallow water to 15-20 jumps from the ledge into the glacial lake below is unique. The opposite shore is undeveloped and will remain so in perpetuity so all one sees is nature, water, the layered mountain ridges amongst the ever-changing sky. We offer a splendid outdoor shower with a view to die for, hot tub during warmer times of the year, a spacious multilevel deck. Rainy days can be weathered indoors with darts, board games, a new 55" SUHD LG TV, or music.
We are a mountain community with access to a great little general store in nearby Washington. Most major shopping is 25 minute drive.
  • A beautiful home kept up beautifully with views that will make you want to grab a chair and not move for quite awhile! If you are looking for a wonderful get a way with hosts that are kind and are available for questions, this is the place for you!

  • We had a great time at the cottage.

    Dan2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • We spent three wonderful and relaxing days in that house. The view of the pond is amazing, it was a cold weekend so we stayed into the house very warm and cozy. We are planning to go in the summer so we can enjoy the outside of the house too.

    Melisa2017-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first of many visits here. Communication was amazing from beginning to end. The home was spotless and cozy. We felt right at home immediately. The kitchen has everything you need. Bathroom even had some toiletries! The views are AMAZING, especially from the master bedroom. Bring groceries or plan to shop when you are there.. the local markets offer very little. This place is in a very secluded town, so if family time and peace and quiet is what you're in search of, look no further! The pond is huge but easy to navigate. My husband enjoyed paddling out to the mini islands. There are plenty of shallow and deep parts for swimming and fishing!

    Chelsea2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Mick went above and beyond to make our stay easy and happy. The house is truly wonderful. It's cozy, clean, and full of everything you'd need for a getaway. Everything works. The lake is gorgeous. The bed is comfy. I don't know what else to say. 5 stars all around.

    Matt2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is the perfect getaway! Me and my boyfriend took a long weekend here and it's absolutely beautiful! The cabin is super cozy, the view is amazing, and the hot tub was a huge plus. Not to mention being able to kayak and canoe was also great! I would absolutely stay here again.

    Nicole2017-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wow !! I can’t say enough about my stay at Mick and Lizzy’s cabin. This was a last minute getaway for me and my husband and my first experience with Airbnb. First the cabin itself is stunning. The home was immaculate and had all of the comforts of home. There was nothing we needed that was not provided by Mick and Lizzy. We also received recommendations for the local area. Mick and Lizzy made every step of our experience from booking to check out seamless, and also checked in to ensure we had no questions during our stay ! I even asked for bait recommendations as my Husband was not having such luck with fishing and I had a response within minutes which lead to a great day of fishing. From access to the canoe to the hot tub to the absolutely stunning views from every room in the house this was more than I could ever expected. My Husband and I spent the car ride home wondering why we have never used Airbnb before this, but also wondering if we were just spoiled by this great experience. I let Mick and Lizzy know we will be checking for openings at their cabin as soon as we can sneak away again for a few days. Wishing I could give more than the five stars as this cabin deserves much more than that.

  • Susan was a wonderful host -- very sweet and welcoming. The accommodations were very serene and relaxing -- I got two great nights of sleep! And she makes a delicious pumpkin and chocolate chip muffin :). I would recommend Susan's for anyone visiting Keene. It was so convenient that I parked my car on Friday and didn't get back in it until I departed on Sunday!

    Christine2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Susan made this place a wonderful place to stay for the weekend. My girlfriend and I were very comfortable here. It was a nice quiet space that had breakfast and coffee ready for us in the morning! It's very close to the main part of Keene and overall just a wonderful place to stay.

    Jon2016-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Susan was very flexible and very generous, really a lovely host. The room is actually a small apartment, very nice for two people, and an easy walk to downtown Keene. Susan even provided a lovely breakfast!

    Melissa2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful experience staying in Susan's airbnb. It was very clean, cozy, and perfect for 2 (plus a golden retriever). All the furniture were very comfortable and so conducive to getting work done as I did not want to pull myself away from them. There was enough space among the 3 rooms to spread our things out and not feel cramped. Susan was also very prompt in responding and accommodating to our needs. Thank you thank you!

    Alice2015-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • I arrived late--close to 9 pm--and Susan was waiting for me. So nice! The place was just what I needed. Cozy, clean, and very comfortable. Lovely set up with coffee, muffins, fruit, water, etc. I thought it was nicer than the pictures. I had to leave early in the morning so didn't have opportunity to thank Susan in person and say good bye. I hope to return in the future.

    Judy2015-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Susan's place was lovely and just as described in the listing. She even went out of her way to get me some gluten free items in place of the muffins she usually provides. It was great to have a microwave and small refrigerator. I will definitely stay there again.

    Lisa2017-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Susan made me feel very welcome. Such a great experience overall. Looking forward to another stay!

    CJ2016-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • My partner stayed with Susan while visiting family. He said the experience was lovely. Quiet, cozy, and private space. Coffee and delicious homemade muffins every morning. Susan was very responsive. The process of checking in was easy and smooth. Thank you Susan! We will always stay with you while visiting Keen.

  • Sue was fabulous host, very welcoming and easy going. We loved the outdoor space, and relaxing living room. Guest bedrooms were well stocked with amenities and very clean. We shared the bathroom with another couple however we did not even see them. Sharing was never an issue. Breakfast was included and was wonderful! Who doesn't love to wake up to hot coffee and a light breakfast! Walking distance to the city center of Keene. I would strongly recommend Sue's location. Enjoy! Heather & Kevin

  • Very nice home in a scenic neighborhood and well taken care of & great breakfast left in the morning .

    Alexa2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sue was a great host. She was very friendly and informative. There was breads, fresh fruit, and hot drinks available each morning. It was very comfortable to come and go as needed. Her presence was just right, available for our needs yet allowing us privacy. Her home was quaint and though we shared a bathroom, there was never a time where it became an issue. In fact we never even saw the other guests that were in the house.

    Lynn2016-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • Sue was terrific! She was very accommodating, friendly, communicative, and makes a yummy breakfast! The room and bathroom were updated, clean, and super comfortable. A very lucky find at the last minute, and couldn't have been more perfect.

    Melissa2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Sue was so friendly and her place was fantastic. The location was easy to get to and close to town. The description of the room and accomadations were very accurate. Sue put out a plate of cheese or bread and other tasty treats each morning. She was so gracious as to offer to mail to me my I-pad charger when I left it there. When I come to Keene again her place would be my first choice and it should be yours also. Thanks Sue.

  • I stopped off between work and education engagements and am so glad I stayed with Dorothy. Off the beaten path in a beautiful New England historic building ( the main part dates back to 1760!), Dorothy's home offers a peaceful repose just outside of Nelson and Harrisville. I stayed in late summer and was able to enjoy a few days of utter peace kayaking in the local lakes and going for evening swims. Dorothy is a very considerate host and made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. Having grown up in the area, she is very knowledgeable and can answer your questions and direct you to anything worth visiting. Both Dorothy and her Co-host Peter are just the nicest people and we shared wonderful conversations and even meals. They are very considerate and were open to me sharing in their life, but would never push themselves on guests, should you prefer to have less engagement. A very welcoming and friendly home to stay for a few nights and experience a slower pace, the whole area radiates serenity! (the road, like many in the area, is not paved, this might be a consideration for city people; there is minimal traffic and it is peacefully quiet at night!). I would come back in a heartbeat next time I am in the area! Thank you for opening you home to me!

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at The Good House for 5 nights over the Christmas holiday. We’re from Brooklyn, so we caught the “Vermonter” Amtrak train to Brattleboro,VT and rented a car from there. If you do the same, we suggest you stock up at the Brattleboro Food-Coop since you’ll have a full kitchen at the spacious Good House. We cooked almost all our meals there with local veggies, breads, butters, honey, maple syrup (which you can get in bulk!), etc. Melissa was very sweet to stock our fridge with some fresh eggs, butter and half and half for our first morning. She supplied the kitchen with the basic necessities, as well as linens, towels, etc. She’s also a great resource for outdoorsy things to do in the area. In the little town of Saxton’s River, we were 15 minutes from picturesque Cross-Country skiing and snowshoeing at Grafton Ponds. If you search online, Grafton has one of the “10 best x-country ski trails in Vermont.” You’ll also quickly find that it has a charming owner, Bill, who’s hilarious, and has good ski rental rates. There’s also a cheese-making factory in Grafton where you can sample fresh Vermont cheese. For downhill skiing, we hit Okemo off recommendations from numerous Vermonters, including Bill. This was 45 minutes away, and had awesome trails. Book a reservation at DJ’s in advance for a meal after the slopes. Now, the lucky thing about our trip was that while we were here, it snowed a foot -- which, as you can imagine, made our winter vacation amazing. This made it possible to ski, and for us city-folk to feel that we’d been transported to the winter wonderland of Vermont. A short walk from the Good House, Melissa directed us to a hiking trail (and provided a sled!) so my girlfriend and I could sled down a pretty steep, fun slope. We loved the Good House as well as the area, and Melissa was a great host--she had the perfect combination of helpfulness and non-intrusiveness. A particularly nice touch was that she shoveled the driveway and brushed the snow off our car the night it came down.

  • We loved everything about our stay at the Good House Cottage. The location was perfect for walking to the local tavern, café, and store. The cottage was full of charm and unique touches. The bed was super comfy and the shower was nice and warm. Melissa was also an amazing host! She was helpful with lots of suggestions. She stocked us up with fresh eggs, milk, and butter. We spent our time exploring the nearby villages and sampling some of the local craft beers. We went cross country skiing and snowshoeing at the Grafton ponds less than 15 minutes away. Overall, a perfect long weekend!

    Angela 2013-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome stay in Melissa's beautiful house! The apartment was spotless, quiet and private, and very comfortable. Light-years better than any hotel. I highly recommend Melissa's Good House Cottage. Thanks so much for opening your home to us Melissa!

    Genevieve2014-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a splendid time at The Good House Cottage in Saxtons River! Melissa was a fantastic host, supplying us with fresh eggs (from her chickens in the backyard!) and other cooking staples. The Good House was very clean with an abundance of fresh linens and excellent records to listen to. There's also a tv with a Roku box if you're so inclined. Besides being clean, charming and comfortable, The Good House is indeed only a 15 minute drive from Grafton where Grafton Ponds provides excellent cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails. Our last night, we dined at Popolo in Bellows Falls which was incredible, highly recommended as well! Thank you for an excellent stay Melissa!

    Julia2013-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed the apartment at The Good House cottage. It was very clean & comfortable, basic yet stylish. Melissa made our arrival very easy and we felt welcomed with her fresh eggs and other goodies. The location is great for a cheese tour of farms on both the Vermont and New York sides. We highly recommend Melissa and her accommodations.

    Jamison2013-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • A great space! Very calm and peaceful. It was plenty large for my girlfriend and I. Enjoyed waking up to some cool summer mornings and eating eggs on the porch. A very relaxing place for a weekend stay. We only saw Melissa when we first arrived, but everything was easy and as described.

    Robinson2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Eclectic, clean and so fun! Upon walking into the cottage it felt like we were walking back in time, with funky eclectic furnishings that could be called retro but are just originals! Fridge was stocked with farm-fresh milk and eggs from the hens roaming around the yard! Loved it! Great coffee too. Modern amenities like a Roku, nice TV and wifi makes this a very comfortable place to stay. Was great to be able to easily walk to town for dinner at the Inn. Fluffy towels and local soaps made the old-style bathroom very cozy. Melissa was great to deal with and helpful with any questions we had. Would definitely recommend this place for a real Vermont experience!

  • We loved our stay at the Good House Cottage. Arriving really, very late in the evening (and venturing north slow on icy roads), we felt immediately at home. The bed was comfy, and the kitchen was stocked with what appeared to be eggs from her own chickens (blue and beautiful!). We enjoyed our morning/early afternoon at the cottage before needing to head back home. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to get away.

    THE GOOD HOUSE COTTAGE
    162 reviews
Quiet, sunny, newly-renovated garage apartment located in an historic apple orchard with mountain views. Relax and take in the country air.
Relax in our quiet, clean, newly-renovated apartment with your own private deck and oversized soaking tub. Plenty of space for a couple, with room for two more on the queen sofabed. The scenic entrance to the property is through an apple orchard planted by former governor of Vermont George Aiken. Putney is home to many educational institutions, and this is a perfect place to rest between admissions or parents' weekend events. We are 2 minutes to The Putney School and The Grammar School, 5 minutes to The Greenwood School, and 10 minutes to Landmark College. For hikers and outdoor enthusiasts: the location is 5 minutes to the Putney Mountain trailhead, which connects to the Pinnacle Association Trail system for excellent and well-marked hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Ski areas within 45 minutes - one hour: Mt. Snow, Grafton Ponds, Okemo, Stratton and Bromley. The space is sunny and cozy, with thermostat controlled heat, and a simple, open kitchen stocked with coffee, tea and cocoa. The bedroom is peaceful with a new queen-sized mattress and bedding, and light-controlling blinds on every window. The bathroom is oversized, with a deep soaking bathtub and all new fixtures (bubble bath provided!). Amenities include high speed wifi (30 Mbps download speed - 2 Mbps upload), Apple TV with access to six TV channels including HBO, and your own gas grill on the deck. Our location is off the beaten path, with a long dirt driveway that can be an adventure in winter, but is only 10 minutes to the village of Putney and 20 minutes to Brattleboro. The village is home to the West Hill Bike Shop, where you can rent bikes and cross-country ski gear, along with the Putney Coop and the General Store for groceries. Also in the center of town is Next Stage Arts Project, where live musical performances in a renovated church take place all year round, often enjoyed after a dinner at the Gleanery Restaurant or JD McCliments Pub.
The house is located on the shoulder of Putney Mountain, so the area is hilly with stunning views. Putney is a town of craftspeople, educators and artists. The village, 10 minutes away, is a gathering place for performances, meals, groceries and shopping.

  • I am super grateful I booked the Cozy Train Depot for our wedding weekend. We had initially had a suite booked at a local hotel that cost an arm and a leg. When I came across this property, I knew this would be perfect for our special day and I wasn't disappointed. Lisa was kind enough to leave a bottle of champagne and a kind note. My bridesmaids and I used the depot to get ready the morning of the wedding and the pictures came out wonderful! It was the perfect spot for our wedding night. My husband and I sat by the fireplace and chatted about the evening and all the festivities. It was truly the perfect location. On top of all the wonderful ambiance of the location, it had everything we needed. I am so happy I found this location. I will definitely return. I saw the outdoor fireplace and thought, "I never got to use it!" So, a return trip is a must. Thank you Lisa!

  • This was my first experience with airbnb and it was perfect! We had an awesome weekend! Lisa is a great host and communicator; she made sure we had everything we needed. The house is just lovely and VERY clean. I would definitely go back and recommend to friends.

  • I can't say enough great things about Lisa and the Cozy Train Depot. Lisa was such a pleasure - she was kind, easygoing, and very thoughtful. She texted me to make sure we arrived safely and was very flexible about our arrival and departure times. The house was wonderful as well. It was cute, cozy, and very comfortable. Lisa has thought of everything guests might need, from kindling for the fire to fresh bread, eggs, and milk. Prior to our stay, I was a bit concerned about the trains going by, but it only happened a couple times and wasn't a bother at all. We stayed at the house to ski at Mount Snow, and while it was about an hour away, the drive was easy and very beautiful. I highly recommend staying here!

  • This was my first experience with AirBnB, and it was perfect. This historic home in Putney has been transformed into a cozy guest cottage. It is in perfect condition, decorated simply and with an artistic flair. Everything is high end, from the linens to the dishes in the huge eat-in kitchen. I loved watching a train go by out back, and I especially appreciated the thoughtful amenities in all rooms. Communications were easy, and the house was beautifully prepared for us, including fresh bread, cheese, milk, and coffee, along with a fully stocked kitchen. The location is ideal: the Co-op is a short walk, and the river is right out back. Lisa always answered my queries. I highly recommend this home and look forward to coming back the next time we visit family in Vermont. Thank you for a fabulous Christmas in Vermont!

    Rosemary2013-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I celebrated a weekend away for our year anniversary. This cozy house was a great place to visit. We went to a few restaurants and the co-op in Putney that were all wonderful and also spent a full day in Battleboro which was a great town as well. We used the fire pit every day and the fireplace inside was also wonderful. Thanks for sharing your house with us!

    Kellyn2015-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great venue, so quiet, close to the river and train tracks (there is a 5.30am, 12.45 and 4.30 train to wave at). Odd one passes about 10pm which is fantastic to view. My 5 yr old loved every minute. Indoors the place was spotless, beds comfy and interior design second to none. Very close to Brattleboro via freeway or back roads, village store had great coffee and The Gleanery restaurant is superb (BYOB currently). Would definitely return.

    Philip2015-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cute little depot to stay at. Some may feel leery of staying so close to a working train track, we actually enjoyed the excitement of each passing train (not that there were that many of them a day). This home away from home is conveniently located, close to I-91 and yet walkable to Putney town where there are restaurants, a wonderful food co-op, a general store and various other amenities. The depot house itself is very welcoming, tidy and well equipped and stocked. We were out exploring other parts of Vermont, so unfortunately did not take advantage of simply hanging out at the house and its nice little patio. The surrounding is so serene and pleasant. We did take a really nice stroll across the tracks to the banks of the Connecticut River one evening. This is a place we will definitely stay at again when we come back to this area for another visit. Thank you, Lisa!

  • My husband and I enjoyed two beautiful weeks in this well-appointed little house. Lisa was exceptionally responsive and helpful in all our communications. She is a thoughtful host who has created a warm, welcoming and well-appointed home. The house is very well maintained and equipped. The home is located close to the lovely little town and a short walk to the Connecticut River. We enjoyed the trains which came by an average of 3 times a day. Our thanks to Lisa for a memorable visit.

Writers, artists, musicians, naturalists, social and environmental activists, families, students, travelers, outdoor enthusiasts, and people needing a respite from the buzz of life will enjoy the peace and wonder of our solar homestead and forest.
We have four listings for our home. If by chance you choose a listing and receive a message that conveys it's unavailable, please try other listings. Other spaces: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/277661 https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/287816 https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/287861 About Solar Living in the Emerson Brook Forest: Once the last of our three children moved away, we decided to share our spacious solar powered homestead with others. Oriented for southern exposure, our "off grid" battery-based solar electric homestead had its beginnings in 1981. In addition to being AirBnB hosts, we are proprietors of Green Energy Options Solar Store in Keene, a local resource for energy conservation education, independent power systems and energy efficient appliances and heating. Our home, located 12 miles from the vibrant city of Keene, is a bit of a showcase for our business and philosophy. We have three rooms with queen-sized beds, and one room with a twin sized bed for guests to choose from upon arrival at the house. All of the rooms have special qualities and we continuously get compliments on all of the beds. If by chance the first room listing is filled for a particular calendar day, please look into our other room listings view their availability. On occasion, when needed and possible, we offer our second floor master bedroom with an adjacent living room. This space does not have it’s own bathroom but provides a sense of privacy and accommodates up to four people. Our home has a wheelchair accessible ramp to the main floor bedrooms and bath as well as a separate entrance to our ground level living space, which includes an accessible shower. While our home may not be certified accessible, we welcome inquiries from those who might value our attempt to be inclusive. In addition to our comfy bedrooms, we have a sunroom, an ground-level den with a woodstove, hammock and couch; 2 shared bathrooms (one with a shower the other a bathtub), a living room with piano and couch, as well as south and north facing porches. Two bathrooms offer on-demand heated water for shower or bath. Our open-concept kitchen faces birdfeeders, a fruit orchard and perennial gardens. With some advanced notice and additional fee, we are happy to provide wholesome breakfast and dinner meals made from organic or locally grown ingredients. We also offer the possibility of a wood-fired hot tub, and therapeutic massage. Andre, our chocolate lab is just about the sweetest dog we’ve ever met. Being an only child, he received lots of training early on to make him the kind of dog that was more pleasure than work. If he has any flaws, it’s that he’s overly thrilled (for about one minute) to see every new face. We have two cats, Maude and Daenerys who are completely domesticated but exclusively outdoor cats. They help us keep our space mouse free. They eat and sleep in the confines of our back porch where they are safe from their natural predators. Help us keep our promise to cat allergic guests by not intentionally or unintentionally inviting them in. For the well-being of, and out of respect for our resident animals and sometimes poultry, we are unable to host our guest's companion animals.
We live in the beloved Emerson Brook Forest. It’s a refuge from the fast pace world, a place to unwind, and reconnect to the natural world. Our home is adjacent to miles of surrounding woodland trails suitable for hiking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, mountain biking, swimming and exploring. The immediate neighborhood includes The Sustainability Project’s Emerson Brook Forest Nature Center, which features wheelchair accessible trails and edible forest gardens. We are an easy drive to several public recreational areas including Pitcher Mountain (great blueberry picking from July through August) and beautiful Mount Monadnock (reputed to be the second most climbed mountain in the world, after Mount Fuji in Japan.) Mole Hill Theater which hosts live music and theater is a seven-minute drive away. Nearby Keene is home to Keene State College (and the Redfern Art Center and Thorne Sagendorf Art Gallery) and Antioch University, the Colonial Theater, several recreation parks and nearly 90 restaurants from which to choose. The Keene Music Festival, hosting more than 90 bands of all persuasions, takes place annually on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.
  • Our stay at Valerie's, though short, was one of the nicest experiences we had on Airbnb. We stayed there for one night, between two hiking trips in the White Mountaints and Mt Monadnock. The house is charming -- in the forest, full of sculptures, with rustic round-top doors, very clean, and so safe that all the doors are left open (we were told by Valerie that only elves and gnomes are around ;) ). Both Valerie and Pablo are really friendly and made us feel welcomed. Andre, their lab, was pretty cute too.

    Georgiana2014-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying with Valerie and Pablo in their lovely home. The house was nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable. We really enjoyed exploring the local area, as well as meandering through the organic, permaculture-inspired gardens on their beautiful property. One of our favorite activities was paling around with Andre, Valerie and Pablo's very friendly and well-trained, doggie. We would absolutely recommend staying with them. You will feel right at home, and be in great hands! We're looking forward to our next visit!

    Jacqueline2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Brian and I had an amazing time at Valerie and Pablo's -- learned about solar energy, interacted with two turkeys and a wonderful chocolate lab, met interesting guests, saw beautiful ceramic art, became friends with our hosts! We want to go back!

    Carol2013-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Valerie and Pablo were very welcoming and their house was just as they described. I could come and go as I pleased with always a warm hello from their two dogs.

    Lara2016-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay with Valerie and Pablo! They are rare folks who really "walk their walk", and for me this always provides a joyful and meaningful experience. Their home is their creation over 30+ years. It was for me a "wow!" discovery. I certainly hope to have the opportunity to stay again soon!

    Kim2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the property, surrounded by so many trees , flowers and gardens of vegetables. Walked out in the early morning before dawn and saw more stars than I've ever seen ! Enjoyed Valerie,Pablo and the other guests ( 2 all the way from Germany) and their stories of travel and the Rainbow Gathering. My wife and I had a great time and wish we had time to stay longer. I got up early and took a long walk along the river-looked like something from a post card of New Hampshire !

    Chris2016-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Valerie's place was AMAZING! Pablo's waffles were incredible! Both Valerie and Pablo made us feel right at home, I have already recommended this home to my family!

    Bridget2017-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • I was looking to spend the holiday weekend with my son celebrating his high school graduation outside of the city, hiking, fishing, and exploring. We have never used airbnb prior to this trip, so we were unsure of what to expect. From my first contact with Valerie to our goodbye hug, everything was amazing. We were welcomed into a very warm, cozy, clean home and our room was great. Andre and Willa greeted us with tails wagging and they certainly made us feel even more at home. Pablo gave us a tour of the brains of the house (we have never been in a solar powered home) and it was quite fascinating to learn how solar energy keeps things running in their home. We met a couple from Boston who were very sweet and fun to talk to. We slept wonderfully, the beds were super comfy and not hearing neighbors or cars or fire engines for two nights was exactly what we needed. The home is an oasis, surrounded by gardens and chirping birds, and instantly gave me an overall feeling of peace. Waking up to breakfast by Pablo both mornings was great! The coffee was perfect, Pablo's infamous waffles were so good, my son talked about them for two days. Our second breakfast was an asparagus, tomato and feta omelet that I have been talking about for two days! When it was time to head out for the day, Valerie and Pablo had some great suggestions. Keene was only 20 minutes away, so grocery stores, restaurants and shopping were easily accessible. I am so glad that our first airbnb experience was with Valerie and Pablo. We are already talking about returning this summer for a longer stay. By far, one of the most relaxing getaways we ever had!

The "Cracker Factory" condo building is within easy walking access to the downtown restaurants and shops. My loft unit is on the 4th floor of the building. The guests use the master bedroom/connected bath on the lower floor. The host 'space' is on the second floor in an 'open concept' loft.
  • Joyce's place is beautiful and comfortable. The central location made it easy to walk around town and is in walking distance to a favorite food coop. I found Joyce to be kind and friendly. I would recommend this to anyone and especially to women traveling alone.

  • Joyce's home is beautiful. Really, the pictures don't do it justice. Adjacent to Main Street, perfect location. Joyce was wonderfully welcoming and made me feel right at home. The room for rent does not have a door (the apt is a loft layout - part of its beauty and charm) but is tucked into a back corner of the apartment so still feels very private. Everything I might have needed was provided, in addition to a very comfy bed and soft soft sheets. Some music/noise from a nearby bar was audible Friday and Saturday night but did not disturb my slumber once I went to bed. Highly recommend!

  • This was a beautiful place to stay in the woods. The space is carefully and thoughtfully designed and all details were taken care of. Judith is very nice and couldn't have been a better host. The location is excellent; we enjoyed finding covered bridges, hiking, and the little market in town. We can't wait to visit again.

  • This is a lovely place, inside and out. The loft is beautifully finished and extremely cozy, especially with the wood stove and heated floors in the bathroom. Every detail has been thought of. Outside, the views are gorgeous. Walpole, a charming town, is just a few minutes away. Anna was very prompt to respond and check on things, and Judith was the perfect host. (Just one note, unrelated to the loft: I had trouble getting AT&T cell reception here, so I relied on the wifi instead.)

    Nicole2016-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was lovely... just as nice as the photo. Both the kitchen and bathroom are brand new and delightful. Best of all was the wonderful setting. We were surrounded by rolling meadows and abundant bird life, next to a trout pond. Our hostess was especially welcoming, and brought us home-made muffins fresh out of the oven, cheese and wine! We feel very fortunate to have found this retreat from the world!

    Charming Country Home
    1 review
A beautiful private space with gleaming hardwood floors, located on a 100 acre farm in a historic renovated 1830's home only half a mile from downtown Keene. With stunning views of Mount Monadnock, this gorgeous setting offers a wonderful place to relax and enjoy whether you are interested in being around animals or just looking out over a stunning view. A country feel, paired with the ability to walk or bike to downtown Keene, makes this apartment unique and well worth a visit.
  • Christina is an amazing host! This is a perfect place to stay if visiting Keane.

    JP2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Christina is a great host, quick with communication, and the property was clean and as pictured. The living room has nice bright sunshine coming in the windows in the morning, with a great view of Mt Monadnock, it's on a main road, and quite close and convenient to downtown Keene. Beautiful property and lots of animals! Thanks again for a comfortable place to stay for the night. Sheila

  • This is a beautiful weekend escape! The hosts were very friendly and accommodating and the apartment was clean and perfect in every way!! I will definitely be back!

  • Christina's place is charming. While it's on a farm, it's really close to downtown Keene. (We didn't walk it, but it didn't seem far at all.) Our dog, Rudy, felt very much at home in the apartment and it was a great value for the space and location.

    Katie2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Clean place and right alongside the farm. Good location to downtown Keene.

    Riis2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect, beautiful location. It was great to wake up and see the farm and all the horses. Close to Keene shopping. Apartment was big and had all the amenities you would need for a short or long vacation. Big plus was the on site farm stand.

  • Excellent little apartment attached to a gorgeous old home. Perfect walking distance to the downtown Keene area (about a half mile). Breakfast and other treats were provided and very well selected. Our only complaint was that the bed was a little difficult for someone taller than 5'11" as your feet will stick through the rungs in the bed's foot board. Otherwise it was a lovely space.

    Brenna2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • I stay at Klauzine's place each time I visit Keene. The space is private and comfortable and the food is plentiful and delicious! I highly recommend staying at Klauzine's place if staying in Keene.

  • We were in town for a wedding and this place was perfect. Just an FYI I'm 5'10 and didn't have any issue with the footboard but my friend is 6'1 and his feet went through the rails. She had a bottle of wine for us when we got there and some fruit and yogurt for breakfast. She also had these delightful blueberry pastries for us the next morning. There was even a very thoughtful little bowl of toiletries in case travellers forget something. We never met them, but were very great hosts, nonetheless. Thanks for the great stay!

  • Klauzine's attention to detail, from the pretty flowers and the lovely pastry and snacks, etc. ),and the homey quality made me feel very welcomed. I think it would be magnificent if she could included a sheet about the history of the house because, at least for me, it is beautiful, fascinating, and mysterious! Klauzine has created such a cozy and inviting space I wanted to stay put!!! I did enjoy reading the Mermaid Chair and have to pick one up at the library. The sounds of birds gives the sense of "being in the country" while being in a small city! Thank you again! I am looking forward to coming back! Meredith

Nestled within a mountaintop meadow, through a covered bridge above the village of Saxtons River, our peaceful cottage is a destination by itself and a perfect place from which to explore fall foliage and all the natural beauty Vermont has to offer. Feel the oxygen and restorative negative ions from the lush mountain woods; true shinrin-yoku ('forest bathing'). Destinations for hiking/biking, gourmet & organic restaurants, live music, cafes, coffee shops, and health food co-ops all exist nearby.
After passing through a historical and sweet covered bridge and journey up a small mountainous road, you will reach our cottage. The energy around our cottage is calm and soothing. The mountain forest wraps around the cottage and is a perfect place to experience and pursue the healing and relaxing recreation of shinrin yoku (or “forest bathing”). Shinrin yoku was developed in Japan where it is considered a cornerstone of preventative medicine and healing. When you step outside the cottage doors you will want to immerse yourself in the smell of pine and its healing a-pinene and limonene while breathing in the freshest air, which manifests in the abundance of lichen on trees; bio-indicators of superior air quality and oxygen. When not taking in the forest atmosphere outside, it still makes its way into the cottage. The living room windows and the sliding glass doors of the living room and bedroom both open onto the deck, which rests above the forested meadow. The four tall living room windows and glass doors all reflect the completely private, lush green land. The cottage is made of one bedroom, one bathroom with a shower, a front room with desk, washer and dryer, and an open concept living room and kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking. Enjoy the quiet and and experience the seclusion afforded by the untrammelled miles of the surrounding mountain woodlands.
We are located at the top of a small mountain and our nearest neighbors are not visible nor audible from our 10-acre property. Wild turkeys, deer and an array of birds, among other creatures, are your neighbors. Our home is next to yours on the same property, but your cottage is nearest the meadow with direct access and exclusive use of the land while you're here. Our nearest town is the village of Saxtons River with a population of 550. Yet the village still contains an excellent restaurant and bar (Saxtons River Inn), a food market with an excellent cheese and wine selection. After that, you will find the town of Bellows Falls, which offers several antique stores, a restaurant with live music (Popolo), several gyms offering weekly passes and a Brooklyn-esque coffee shop, Flat Iron Exchange, along with a café selling organic and local fare as well as kombucha on tap (Valley Café). Just beyond that, Putney offers a health food co-op and Walpole, the restaurant L.A. Burdick’s. This is all an afterthought to the array of hiking, biking and canoeing/kayaking options in the surrounding miles. One of the loveliest times of the year is during peak fall foliage. Please be sure to visit our Guidebook for personal favorites and recommendations for dining, hiking, arts and other essentials.
  • This is a spectacular forest oasis. Great for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle with all the amenities one could need. The bed is so comfortable with soft linens. The kitchen is well stocked beyond the usual amenities with an array of teas, breakfast items, French press coffee. I was especially pleased with the higher end, sulfate free toiletries and hair dryer with a diffuser. It's the little details such as a wine bottle opener and eclectic reads that make this place special!

    Jenna2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was incredibly cozy. She met me when i first arrived and gave me a short tour. I never saw here again the entire time i was there and felt like i had a ton of privacy. Beautiful set up.

  • Peggy was unbelieveable. It was a home away from home. She was easy to communicate with and answered any and all questions. She provided more than the basics for the cabin. Games and card deck available. Gorgeous walk around the property, with berries growing all around. The photos don't do justice. Will definitely return for a secluded yet pampered visit.

    COURTNEY2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved this cozy cabin! Quiet, beautiful spot in the Vermont countryside and Peggy has thought of everything! Little goodies in the fridge, fully stocked kitchen and a super comfy bed. Would highly recommend and stay here again!

    Janaka2017-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • A cozy paradise! Everything came as listed (even down to the bountiful tea selection). Remy came up and greeted us when we arrived and gave us a short and sweet run down. Can't wait to come here again! Make sure you check out the sunset - very magical!

  • Place is perfect for a getaway. You feel like you are outvin the middle of the woods, nice and quiet, but still have the comfort of all modern amenities. Definitely worth every penny

    James2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is wonderful. Its so cute, its furnished lovely, the bed is so comfortable, the deck is lovely for dining outside. I loved the space. Peggy is an incredibly thoughtful host. She anticipated our arrival with care and thoughtfulness. The property is beautiful and peaceful, as is the surrounding towns and hills. Overall a wonderful experience.

    Jordan2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures on this website hardly do justice to Peggy's place. This is truly a wonderful getaway. This place has a personality to it that can seldom be described in words. The way Peggy's daughter handled my arrival during what was truly a troubling time for the hosts clearly shows their love and commitment to this place. I was treated very well, and I certainly enjoyed Remi and Peggy's company. If you are looking for a romantic getaway or just need your space to relax, this is certainly the place to be. You certainly feel like you are lost with nature. The town of Bellows Falls and Saxon's River are very close by, and some wonderful restaurants can be found there as well. The town, the hill, hall's bridge and Peggy's place together made it a magical trip. I highly recommend her place no matter your needs. Best of luck to Peggy on her future endeavors!

  • Valerie and Pablo have a lovely home and they are so welcoming. We didn't get a chance to taste their cooking but the room was very comfortable. Nice soft sheets, comfy bed, nice bathrooms. Beautiful area with fresh air, and Valerie gave us a great recommendation for a quick hike on nearby Pitcher Mountain.

    amelia2015-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • I had a fantastic time with Valerie and Pablo. Their house is beautiful -- a true sanctuary nestled in the forest. There were other guests coming and going, which gave a worldly, meeting-of-minds feeling to the place. I couldn't have asked for better!

    Amelia2014-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Valerie is amazing! Not only did she build most of the house, she is a great cook, conversationalist, and deeply caring individual. Wish I had been able to stay for breakfast given the delicious dinner I enjoyed the night before. I inadvertently left my computer bag there and only discovered it after driving 4 hours. What could have been an overwhelming problem was taken care of by Valerie and the package arrived at my destination the next day. Thank you sooooo much, Valerie.

    Ginny2014-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Valerie's and Pablo's beautiful solar house and it was a great experience. Their house is spacious and it had everything we needed. From the house we could have nice views of the colourful trees. It was such a lovely place to stay. We highly recommend it.

  • I was lucky enough to spend 5 days and nights with Valerie, Pablo, and their pets. It was the perfect home to stay in while studying. As soon as I got out of the car, I felt welcome and comfortable. I even was able to see the hatching of 5 of their baby turkeys! If you have the opportunity, definitely check them out!

    Matthew2013-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Perfectly lovely. Valerie and Pablo were fantastic hosts, and even more wonderful people. Accommodations were cozy, comfortable, and great in every way - I slept like a rock every night, and woke up to sunlight or snow every morning. Amazing trails for snowshoeing/hiking, which led out the back of their property, so were able to just walk forever, for as long as we wanted, and then could come back to a warm kitchen and wood stove. They also have awesome pets, who appreciated (or withstood) our smothering love and affection. V+P loved interacting with guests, and sharing their life with the people who had come to visit, and it was beautifully refreshing - as I told them, it felt more like staying with friends than with strangers. Incredibly generous, gracious, and kind people. Beautiful location. Everything was a pleasure. We hope to be able to go back.

    Deryn2015-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Valerie and Pablo were fantastic hosts. They were more accommodating than we could have ever hoped for; setting up their lovely wood-burning hot tub, giving us the choice of different bedrooms, even cooking us breakfast. Their house is absolutely gorgeous. It is entirely off the grid, operating by solar panels and a battery, with a wood burning fire for heat. If you are looking for a truly relaxing and inspirational stay, their home is completely prefect.

    Erica2015-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had a friendly, comfortable stay in Gilsum, NH. Four of us stayed in two light filled rooms from windows and solar tubes. Valerie and Pablo were new friends who quickly became comfortable old friends. We had many similar interests, and had discussions on Geology and green energy. They were very knowledgeable about the Gilsum area and History. The solar powered house was well designed and built (by Valerie). The beds were comfortable, the pets friendly, and the gardens a visual delight.. The breakfast they served on the weekend, was from local sources and extremely tasty. We will definitely stay with Valerie again when we visit New Hampshire (and we visit New Hampshire every year). This is a good base for exploring, Gilsum and the Keene area, as well as a quiet abode for writing and relaxing.

Peep Willow Farm is a working sport-horse farm and licensed Bed and Breakfast set in picturesque Marlborough New Hampshire. Enjoy the gorgeous views and New England Charm. Lots of attractions close by. It's a perfect place to stay a few days for work, relax and recharge, or for a romantic weekend getaway.
Set in a New England Farmhouse on a working sport-horse farm. Great for animal lovers!
We live in a classic New England farmhouse set in New Hampshires rolling hills. The setting is rural, but we are a 10 minute drive from downtown Keene (shops, bars)
  • When considering some places near here, I read many great reviews and a few from some upset people. I am writing this review to perhaps clarify what in these people's minds was "wrong". First, this is a working horse farm. If you are not comfortable with what generally comes with that - an unpaved driveway, lawns not manicured, a few piles of magazines on a working kitchen table, some dishes on the counter, and not brand new surfaces, furniture and appliances, etc. - you SHOULD NOT stay here. Do not stay here and then write a nasty review because you are "shocked and deeply saddened". Second, the person who complained about the dirty floors and bathroom is obviously looking for "hotel clean" where everything is shiny and brand new. The shower flower looks to have a few dirty spots because the material is a little old. Otherwise it is solid, functioning and clean. If you want "hotel spotless" and perfect, you should not stay here. I find Peepwillow PERFECT for seclusion, comfort and value. If you (or have kids who) like horses and nature, it is perfect. If you want to get away from the world for a few days to work on something, it is perfect. The host(ess) Noel is very nice. Smart, interesting and eager to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. I will definitely stay here again.

  • This is a beautiful horse farm set on a large beautiful acreage over looking the mountains. It is perfect for anyone visiting southern NH and nice and close to hiking at Mount Monadnock. I guarantee you will spend some time walking the grounds and visiting the horses!

Peaceful setting with a rustic, small and cozy apartment surrounded by woods and fields. Private entrance, with your own bathroom, and kitchen. Within walking distance to swimming, x country skiing, hiking and many country attractions. Beautiful walks and bike rides. The apartment is simple with a comfortable bed. The cooking is simple too. An electric stove, dishes, pots, utensils, sink and of course a waffle iron. Games are in the closet. Have fun.
Bedroom has a queen size bed. Available year-round by the night, the week or the month. Wonderful place for someone transferring to this area or house hunting. 300 square feet. If you have an extra guest there is an adjoining large room with a queen sized bed for an additional $30. Well behaved dogs may stay with prior approval. They may not be left alone in the apartment. There is an additional $20 cleaning fee to return the space to its dog free status. If you would like to sleep late please let me know when you will get up, so it can be quiet.
My favorite places are all close by. In Nelson there are many maintained trails, including waterfalls and views. I have maps for you to use. The library is a friendly place with an on going book sale and interesting programs. Swimming and cross country skiing are a 10 minute walk. Harrisville ( a five mile drive) a historic mill town, with many buildings on the National Register, has a self guided tour map, a top rated general store with excellent lunch and breakfast options and the Harrisville Yarns Store specializing in knitting and weaving favorites. Within 20 minutes, Keene and Peterborough are resplendent with restaurants, movie theatres, farmer's markets and much more. Mount Monadnock and the Monadnock Sunapee Trail are close by. Many smaller mountain hikes are within 20 minutes too. I never tire of all the exciting events in the area. The Nelson Webpage, (URL HIDDEN) has a calendar and links to area events and activities.
  • Kristine does a wonderful job telling it like it is. This place is as advertised, if you go here you will have a spectacular time.

    Jacob2016-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very pleasant experience at Blue Heron. We stayed only one night, arriving later in the evening and leaving the next day, and everything went smoothly. Kristine was always very responsive, both before and during our stay, and helpful in pointing out interesting places to see in the area. The area is beautiful if you like rural environments; there is no one around and you can take many pleasant walks. We were going to take our dog but I'm happy we didn't in the end because the place would have been a little too small for her (she's a very high-energy puppy), so I would say bring your dog only is he/she is very well behaved and calm!

    Anna2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kristine offers the authentic NH country experience. She even let us use the squash blossoms from her wonderful garden to cook dinner for her and her daughter.

    Lorett2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Kristine is a totally fun and gracious person. You will love her instantly and she will definitely make you feel welcome. Regarding the accommodations, I loved them, but you need to come not expecting the Ritz [even though there is a comforter on the bed from Masion Dior]. You get the basics here very affordably in a totally wonderful setting with serenity all around you. In particular, I loved the wood stove and star gazing at night, watching the space junk fly by without any interference from light pollution. Be certain to come soon while the fresh produce is available in the garden outside your door. Fresh eggs are always available!

    Bud2016-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time here. Very clean, love the wood burning stove, and very private. Perfect place for a short retreat. We will be back ...

    Kathleen2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Kris was such a warm and welcoming host. She greeted us with a big smile as we walked onto the lawn. There is a beautiful garden in front of the house, and she even graciously gave us some of her herbs and plants. The dogs are all so friendly and adorable. Even the free-range chickens seemed to be having a grand old time! This home was lovely and very accommodating. We definitely would recommend staying at this place if you want a quiet, cute, and cozy home. It's also a quick drive from Keene (had a bunch of great restaurants there) and about a twenty-minute drive to Mount Monadnock if you like to go hiking!

    Simon2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Kristine is extremely hospitable and cooperative. She knows the area very well, and has useful suggestions about enjoying it. The accommodations are simple and clean, and have nice views into her abundant informal gardens. The location is pleasantly rural, and is convenient to a number of beautiful small villages in the area. I stayed only one night since Kristine's calendar was full, and took a day trip up to White Mountain N.F., but I hope to return for further exploration of the local environs.

  • The listing was just as it was advertised. Because this was our first experience with Airbnb, we were cautiously skeptical. The whole process was easy and went very smoothly. We enjoyed our stay very much. The area is beautiful and very out-of-the-way. The homemade goodies Kristine left us were very tasty. We will definitely use Airbnb in the future!

Whether you want to explore the small towns and winding trails of Vermont or truly get away from it all, the Farmhouse Apartment is a spacious and beautiful home-base. Upstairs, there is a luxurious king-sized bed in the huge master bedroom with a memory foam topper, so you'll get a great night's sleep! The bathroom is newly renovated with mosaic tiles. Downstairs there is a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, and living room with cozy, wood-burning stove and comfortable sofa. A private deck on the back and a separate front porch (with porch swing) complete the downstairs. If interested, we can add a roll-away twin bed downstairs for an extra guest. We also have a portable Baby Bjorn crib, high chair, and a toddler bucket swing out back -- babies welcome!
Our picturesque farmhouse is just outside the artsy village of Putney, VT on an easily-accessed country road. Hike, bike, walk, cross-country ski, or run on the nearby trails and peaks, some of which start right from our driveway. Visit a neighboring sheep farm and sample their award-winning cheeses, or head into the nearby villages of Putney, Walpole, or Chester for a stroll in town or a bite to eat at locavore favorites The Gleanery or Burdick's Restaurant. Spend an afternoon at Green Mountain Orchard, picking blueberries, raspberries, apples, or pumpkins (depending on the season), and finish off with a cool dip at a local swimming hole. In the evenings, relax by the fire, curl up with a good book, and unwind! We are also close to downhill skiing, (Okemo, Bromley, Stratton), the Putney School, Landmark College, the Greenwood School, and The School for International Training (SIT)/ World Learning. In Putney, you have the Putney General Store, the Putney Food Coop, the terrific West Hill Bike Shop, spinning and yoga studios, massage, the delicious Curtis' BBQ, (seasonal) Swirl second-hand shop, antique stores, Hidden Springs Maple, and more! We’re also close to hip Brattleboro, Vermont with it's wonderful art festivals, farmers markets, movie theatre, music venues, food coop, Grafton Cheese Company, art galleries, bookstores, cafes, restaurants and shops galore. And we're close to lovely Keene, NH with Antioch College and Keene State College, great coffee shops and a lively Main Street, The Colonial Theater and more. The Farmhouse Apartment is a great place to visit year-round and experience Southern Vermont in all seasons: In SPRING, stop in at a maple sugar house while they’re boiling, and enjoy a pancake breakfast before visiting local farms to see the new lambs being born. In SUMMER, wander the deep green woods on foot or by bike and then cool yourself in a clear local swimming hole. In AUTUMN, hike along streams, up to mountain view points that will blind you in leaf season with amazing Fall color, and enjoy a stop at a farmer's market. In WINTER, snowshoe or Nordic ski on nearby groomed trails and return to a cozy fire to enjoy some hot cider before heading off to the pub for dinner. Or, check out Stratton, Okemo, or Bromley Mountains for downhill fun (about 50 minutes away).
  • This sweet farmhouse apartment was "just enough" with a very well stocked kitchen. Our quick, relaxing weekend get-away was exactly that! Great kitchen to cook meals in, loved watching the birds at the back feeder (and the chipmunks sneaking in to get the leftovers), comfy bed upstairs (loved the decor -- excellent use of antique cross-country skiing equipment!), and all the charm you'd enjoy in a Vermont country house. Alex's communication was top notch as well!

  • A clean and relaxing retreat that helped my husband and I get away from the day to day work life!

    Jennifer2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little spot that makes you feel like a relaxed country visitor, yet right at home! We loved meeting Alex and her family, and loved the spot she's located in, which is just down the road a bit from Putney's center. We enjoyed the accommodations, which are nicely laid out and comfortable -- and loved staying in something so historically lovely. Overall such a nice place to stay when you're coming to get away (solo, as a couple or as a small family). We will be back!

  • The host made us feel very welcome! Everything was well prepared and neat. Spectacular bedroom! This is a great place to go to if you are looking for a romantic getaway, if you're looking for some quietness, and/or if you want to find a nice house near skiing places.

  • This is a lovely place to stay. Beautiful surroundings, terrific house & great hosts. Alex was there if we needed anything but not at all intrusive. Great tips for the surrounding area too. We had the fire lit at night which made for a very cosy atmosphere. Highly recommended

    Michael2015-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Just as advertised, this is a true taste of old Vermont. It's a roughy 1,000 sf apartment on two levels. The first floor has a renovated kitchen and living room with a central wood stove that was lit when we arrived. The second floor is even more charming - a blend of old and new. Three huge skylights pump an amazing amount of light into a well furnished space. Thoughtful, not overdone, touches include a custom mirror and several other distinctively Scandinavian touches. Terrific! Don't miss.

  • A great house in absolutely beautiful location. It was a thoroughly enjoyable stay and will hope to visit again!

    Chris2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • The home is beautifully situated on a lake with comfortable furnishing and well equipped kitchen. It is very nice that we had access to a private beach area, which is less than 5 minute walk. Since it was raining and overcast for most of our stay, it would have been great if kayaks and canoes were available for use with the home. We ended up renting kayaks for our stay.

  • Great house in a beautiful area. Very accommodating home

  • This place was awesome. Beautiful view of the frozen lake during the winter time. Very quiet area if you're looking to get away from it all.

    Arsen2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for having such a clean and accommodating home. It is the perfect home away from home place. We would rent it again if it is available for our next visit as a family. This home is equipped with all the necessities a home typically has. It is right on the lake and the views out the windows are gorgeous.

  • Anthony is an excellent host. The house is great. Our group had a really good time at his house.

  • We stayed in the Tyler house for almost a week in July with my parents and two young kids. It was a great experience. It is right on the lake and has a nice little dock (summer only I assume). The kitchen is modern and has everything you need. The upstairs is rustic and outfitted as an old lake cabin. The great thing about this house is that it has air conditioning. There is central air downstairs and a portable unit that works well upstairs. This was essential for my stay as it was quite hot and humid in July. Spofford lake is gorgeous! We were walking distance to Camp Spofford which is where other members of our family were staying. We would stay here again and recommend it to others.

    Donald2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location. Beautiful house. Great kitchen and porch overlooking the lake and master bedroom downstairs and right next to it a giant bathroom walk-in shower Good lighting (often hard to find--you can read books and magazines at night). There's a TV, but we never turned it on and almost never do--much better to read when you're in such a rustic but sophisticated home. Plenty of room for parking. So go with a lot of people and enjoy yourself mightily.

  • Sue opened her house to us and was a fantastic host. Building and amenities were well stocked and welcoming. I highly recommend this place.

  • Sue was absolutely great. She was very warm and welcoming and made me feel right at home (one morning she left out carrot cake with cream cheese frosting which was a yummy breakfast!). Her house beautiful and it is in a great location--really close to the downtown area. The room was spacious, but still really cozy. Overall, a great place to stay.

    Jessica2016-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Sue has a lovely home in a perfect location to Main Street and everything great in Keene! I wasn't able to meet her during my stay, but she graciously had someone fill in for her as host and still accommodated myself and another family. Sue is also nice enough to accommodate my odd school schedule, and I look forward to meeting her upon my next visit!

    Amanda2015-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • She was a wonderful host and her house was great to stay at. We were within walking distance of downtown and took advantage of that for dinner both nights we were there. We stayed in the room that could sleep 3 and we were very comfortable in the extra large room. Sue is an excellent host, I would gladly stay with her again if I'm even in need of a place to stay in Keene!

  • Sarah's home is very modern and impeccably clean. The beds were super comfy and the kitchen was well-equipped. She even left us coffee, a delicious quiche and homemade bacon for breakfast when we arrived. Sarah her self is incredible. I was blown away by how warm and kind she was. I'd highly recommend staying at this beautiful home!

    Sam2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! The house was very cute and well renovated. Everything was clean and the beds were very comfortable. It was very easy access to Cobb Hill Estates where we were attending a wedding. Sarah went above and beyond leaving us muffins and coffee for breakfast on our first day, answering every question we had about the area, and always offering to help in any way she could! The farm was great and we had the pleasure of meeting some new lambs that were born the first night we were there! The farm store was convenient to buy a quiche and sausage as well as some fresh vegetables for cooking. We wish we would have been able to stay longer!

    Megan2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and Craig were lovely hosts. They welcomed us and told us a lot about what we could do in the area. Their home was clean and neat and well-stocked. We and our children had a wonderful time on the farm and recommend this home to others who are staying in Harrisville.

    Jenna2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's property was beautiful and she was more than accommodating!

    Sam2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • If you happen to be headed anywhere near this part of New Hampshire, this is a really lovely spot to land. It's wonderfully secluded and quiet, at the end of a short dirt road. We stayed there for a wedding at Lakefalls Lodge, which is not too far away, and it was much nicer than staying in Keene. Sarah and Craig, the owners, who live just across the way have refurbished it beautifully, with everything brand new inside. They're helpful and welcoming as can be, and they run a sweet little country store with local products next to it (It operates on the honor system and, coming from an urban area, this is wonderful) Up the hill are sheep and views, down the hill are piglets, and a five minute drive down the road and around the corner is one of the nicest swimming spots I've ever seen - Sarah will tell you how to get there. This is exactly the sort of place I'd hope to find through Airbnb. Thanks!

    Joel2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Stay here, you will not regret it! I can't say enough about Sarah and family's beautiful farm. Six of us came to stay for a friend's wedding and found the accommodations clean, comfortable, peaceful, and beautiful. Sarah went above and beyond to make us feel at home, and even left us some breakfast treats at the house! The Airbnb itself is nestled between sheep, pigs, a raspberry patch and a river that can be traversed to go to the general store in Harrisville. It was the perfect country getaway and I hope to return!

    Katie2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very nicely updated and on a farm where we got to visit some piglets and sheep. Very quiet, rural setting. The farm store has some food for sale. We tried the sausage and the quiche which were both superb!

  • Mike and Debbie were excellent with communication. The home was neat and welcoming. They were kind hosts and made our stay very comfortable. We really enjoyed the conversations we had with them. Having a private bathroom was really great. I highly recommend this Airbnb.

    Han2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time in Keene and staying at Mike and Debbie's home. They were incredibly hospitable and even went out of their way to accommodate us and our 1 yr old son by having a pack n play and a diaper geni. They have a beautiful home and a spacious backyard. The room itself was perfect, the shower was great and the bed was an amazing... we could have slept all day! They even had coffee for us in our room for the morning.. an added bonus. An extra treat: Debbie is a professional photographer and she squeezed us in for a family shoot while we were there. We will definitely stay with Debbie and Mike again if we're ever back in Keene.

    Catherine2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • I would definitely stay and Mike and Debbie's place again. Very quiet location and friendly hosts!

  • Mike and Debbie were amazing hosts. This was my first experience with AirBnB and an unforgettable (EMAIL HIDDEN)munication prior to arrival was open and responsive. I was asked if I had any special requests or needs. Mike and Debbie were very welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. Our room was awesome and let me just say, the bed was THE BEST. I couldn't wait till the end of the day just to relax in it. Very clean, and nice. They gave us some ideas of what to do while in town, and Debbie used her amazing talents to photograph us before going to a wedding. I would recommend them to anyone traveling to New Hampshire!

  • Lovely couple. Great stay. Private. Very comfy bed! Would absolutely book again.

  • We had a lovely stay at Mike and Debbie's place. They put a lot of thought and care into hosting and it shows. While we weren't around to interact much, they made us feel welcome and comfortable. They had a great snack buffet laid out in the kitchen every morning and bottled water in the room - perfect for us since we were on the go. The bed was super comfy. I would go back just for that!

  • Sonia and Joe were great hosts and welcomed us into their home in the most open-hearted manner conceivable. A lovely experience.

    Michael2014-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice short stay. Arrived during a tough snow storm and hosts were gracious to offer me some of their wonderful home made cheese and a light dinner. Room was warm and comfy.

  • I had a lovely time staying with Sonia. The room was cozy, comfortable and I especially loved the mattress. Her whole house is clean, organized and inviting. And Sonia is a great hostess. Her kitchen was great, too. We had fun sharing recipes and cooking up concoctions. She was gracious to let me bring my own juicer which I used while I was there. An awesome experience.

    Jane2013-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sonia and Joe are amazing people, so interesting that you would like to stay longer and get to know them. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night so this wasn't possible. We definitely would stay here again and recommend it to family and friends when in the area. By the way, we purchased some of their cheese to take with us back home. One bite and it's instant Nirvana. I miss being back there!

    Lisa2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cozy room in Sonia's home was perfect for my brief stay in New Hampshire. The home has a lovely vista and was very comfortable. I particularly appreciated meeting Sonia when I arrived, and her hospitality was warm and friendly. I attended a workshop 25 minutes away in neighbouring Alstead and was initially concerned about the distance, but the scenic drive fast became of one of my favourite parts of the trip.

    Nancy2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • My stay with the Sawyer's was great. They are very gracious hosts. I would strongly recommend staying with them if you are ever in their Walpole area. It's a beautiful country area which they are very knowledgeable.

    Scott2015-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • My stay with Sonia and Joe was the perfect Airbnb experience. I spent 6 nights in their lovely, clean home and enjoyed getting to know the area as well as my hosts. I loved waking up to the rooster crowing (not too loudly) and jogging through the fog on their quiet road lined with cornfields and farms. A tasting from Sonia's and Joe's own cheese line was a special touch. They were so warm and welcoming (but not at all overbearing), and I hope to visit again soon!

Town of Rockingham, VT, United States

  • loved the self-sufficiency of Valerie and Pablo's home, the flowers in the yard and art everywhere, and chatting with our hosts who made time despite their very busy weekend. we were happy with and comfortable in our accommodations and would stay there again.

  • Valerie and Pablo are a wonderful couple with a great place. They are good people and their place reflects that. Two sweet dogs to keep company. If you feel drawn to this place from the description and photos, you will not be disappointed. Also, Pablo's waffles are pretty damn good.

  • An amazingly beautiful place to retreat from city life. Valerie and Pablo are absolutely the nicest hosts. They made us feel very welcome, in their unique home – which was as wonderful as it sounds and looks from the description.

  • Valerie & Pablo were excellent hosts--relaxed, inviting, and helpful. The experience, though brief, was more like visiting family than staying at a B&B; they were very present, the home was full of warmth and character, and the pets were adorable and friendly! It was a secluded, quiet little getaway from our city during the most beautiful season. With their suggestions, we enjoyed a couple of lovely hikes on our final day. We hope to visit again, thank you!

  • I had an incredible stay with Valerie and Pablo! They were welcoming and warm and their home and its surrounding gardens and forests were rejuvenating. I extended my stay as much as I could and I still didn't want to leave! It was only a 20 minute drive into downtown Keene but it felt like a world away!
