Best things to do in Fethiye

“Market Day in Hisaronu is Monday - for food and clothes and much more - do your best with the bartering! The market pancakes are great - very Turkish. Get there before they close down at about 1pm. Hisaronu has many, many places to eat and drink. Here are a few of our favourites: 1. Abrekebabra - do this one first in the middle of the day for a meze and cool drinks, comfy chairs, watch the world go by. Located at the top of the main street. 2. Barracuda - good for an evening meal - near the big roundabout. 3. Dragonara - one of two large Chinese Restaurants - the other being Shanghai Blues. Dragonara is currently our favourite, but they change from year to year. Shanghai Blues is cheaper (l”

“The world famous beach of Ölü Deniz, with its crystal clear waters and lagoon are a must see. Just 10 minutes bus journey from the hotel, there are numerous restaurants and bars you can eat and drink in and watch the paragliders on their descent from mount Babadag (father mountain). The lagoon area is a national park so there is an entrance fee, but the main beach is public and free.”

“A great bazaar, tucked behind walls and shops, open dawn till dusk. The place to buy daily caught fish and let periphery restaurants cook it for you (at small surcharge). A nice ambience in evenings with locals just people watching and enjoying fish cuisine. At weekends fasil musicians may play for you. Restaurants also serve salads, mezes and alcohol so you can make it a nice social occasion for your group. Pop through the link corridor to see an adjoining vegetable, cheese and spice market. You won't regret it!”

“Ancient Lycian Rock Tombs dating back to 7 B.C. A lovely stroll along a high road and onto Kesikkapi district old town, you can walk to these rock tombs, enjoying stunning views from the road overlooking Fethiye centre. Start walking from 1st Karagozler, up hill and turn left (go past El Camino hostel) and continue along road towards the castle, turn left, go down hill at end, then turn right through old neighbourhood to reach the ancient Tomb path. By the tombs you can refresh at a nearby cafe.”
