Vacation Rentals in Fairplay

Just booked in Fairplay

Chop wood. Carry water. Enjoy a completely private wooded paradise. Cookstove and oven in kitchen. Maybe grab your blankets and stargaze in the group hammock. Slackline, hammocks, firepit, stars, marshmallows. No electricity or plumbing.
The cabin was built in the 1960's (funky kitchen linoleum and mustard low pile carpet - awesome). There is electricity for one light and a fan in the outsouse, that's it. Kitchen with propane range and oven is ready to go - just bring you food, cooler and your water. We have pots, pans, dishes, napkins, and silverware. Cozy on the velvet couch by the fire in the evening. Bedtime offers a full-sized bed in separate bedroom (semi-private), a single daybed in the living area and two single futons for extra capacity wherever. BRING BEDDING. There is a screened porch with a long wooden table and papasan chair for warm days. The space is a 500 sf cabin with a separate bedroom (no door). There is a screened porch which is terrific for summer or early fall sleeping. HEAT is from a wood-burning stove with a glass door for ultra coziness. There are round logs and an axe and hatchet for splitting. It will be as cold as the outdoors when you arrive and in about 2 hours you should be able to get the indoor temp comfortable in the dead of winter. BRING WATER There is a shelf above the sink where we put a 5 gal bladder. SLEEPING There is a full-sized bed in the semi-private bedroom and a single daybed in the livingroom, and two additional single-sized futons to be placed wherever at night and stored during the day. There is a velvet sofa that I have spent many nights on, but you can't stretch out all the way. Bring sheets and blankets or sleeping bags. Our family sleeps 5 adults cozily in the winter and 30 friends in the summer with tents, treehouse etc... COOKING There is a propane range and oven, 4 burners. Cookware is provided. Pot for snowmelt is provided. Plates, mugs, mason jars, can opener, cutting board and knife, paper napkins, utensils are all there. Stove has no pilot - turn on gas and lite each time you use.
The neighborhood is a private subdivision with 5 to 20 acre wooded lots on the edge of valley of the sun area of Fairplay.
  • We had a lovely couple of nights at Kim's cabin. The cabin is rustic, cozy and homey. It is a beautiful area.

    mark2015-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was incredibly cozy and welcoming! The property was secluded and very private. We really enjoyed the many campfire rings, hammocks, and other fun activities set up on the property. The wood burning stove kept us warm throughout the night. We'll definitely be back!

    Melissa2016-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • A great way to drop off the grid for a bit and relax. It was unfortunate that there was a burn ban in effect while we were there, meaning we couldn't have a bonfire, but we still enjoyed the stay quite a bit.

    Quinn2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Kim was very responsive to our questions before the trip, and communicated with us afterwards to ensure everything ran smoothly. Great place, rustic but charming. The walk in wasn't very bad, but we brought an extra sled so made two trips (4 people staying 5 days, so we had a lot of stuff). I'd definitely recommend the place to others.

  • Quaint and comfy!!!!

    Clara Elena2015-07-17T00:00:00Z

  • I had a great stay at Greg & Carmen's place. The house is easy to find and located in a quiet town with beautiful views. Only a 30 minute drive to Breckenridge it was the perfect place to relax after a long day. Greg was very accommodating and considerate with arrival/departure logistics and made sure I felt at home. My room and bathroom were both clean and quiet. Recommend this place for anyone looking to stay in the Rockies!

    Kristine2017-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Greg and Carmen are wonderful hosts and have a very interesting house. The room is plenty warm as it comes with a space heater. The location in Fairplay is a nice alternative to the towns north of Breck. An easy drive over one pass gets you to that resort. I would stay here again.

    Paul2016-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • A generously comfortable and wonderful place to stay. I needed a place to crash so I could be closer to a climb location, I wasn't looking for much, but what I received was absolutely wonderful. I will look at staying with them again.

    Jade2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Greg and Carmen were very welcoming and gracious hosts. They had recommendations for restaurants as well as a suggestion for some live music. Both suggestions were dead on and my girlfriend and I had a great night out in Fairplay. The accommodations were fantastic and the was more than enough parking, to include a covered parking spot. Definitely a great place to spend a night in-between ski days.

    Jesse2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, wonderful hosts! Awesome accommodations, short drive to ski areas, highly recommend.

  • Nice, clean, and comfortable apartment in Fairplay. Kat and Jim were very helpful hosts.

    Brian2016-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay! You will enjoy if you enjoy being a little bit further from the city, relaxing in piece. The view of the stars from the hot tub at night is a great way to wind down after a long day on the slopes. The private entrance, full kitchen, full laundry and amble room for living will makes your stay feel like home. This was the first Airbnb I had ever booked, and Kat made it a great, relaxing stay. Only one thing stood out as needing improvement, and it's entirely justified. Upon our arrival Kat had installed a new wood pellet burning stove to replace the propane heat system. We were the first people to use it, so we were kind of the trial run. It worked very well, warmed up the place in no time, but the issue seems to be with the thermostat. The room will eventually become too hot but the stove doesn't seem to let up. I'm sure this is simply an issue of figuring out how to adjust the settings correctly for that room. We were able to simply turn the machine on/off to control the temperature in the room during our stay. Again, really enjoyed my stay. I highly recommend resting here.

    Matt2017-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Solid place

    Todd2017-03-08T00:00:00Z

  • Kat's place is great and she was fantastic. The Sunny Park Place was in close walking distance to everything we needed from downtown Fairplay to the fairgrounds, we barely used our car. The place is comfortable, clean, and in great condition... what else do you want? A+++

    Jason2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Kat was a very gracious host. She was always available to answer any questions and take care of any special requests. The neighborhood was very quite and very convenient to access our needs for food, gas and ski equipment.

  • What a wonderful place to stay. Everything about Silverheels Cabin is perfect. The cabin is well-equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay in the mountains. There was a ban on outdoor fires during our stay, which could have been an issue. Not to worry - the cabin comes equipped with a propane fire pit on the front porch. This turned out to be our favorite place for enjoying the cool mountain evenings. The view of Mount Silverheels from the cabin deck is amazing. Having morning coffee (also provided) while enjoying the view from the deck was a personal highlight. The location of the cabin is perfect for daytrips to mountain 14er trails and Breckenridge. It is also a very short drive to the Mount Princeton Hot Springs (another highlight of our trip). Sherri is a wonderful host and does everything possible to ensure a comfortable stay. If you are planning a mountain vacation I highly recommend Silverheels Cabin as your destination.

    Dan2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The cabin is cozy, clean and beautiful. We loved the privacy and gorgeous mountain views. We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere even though we were only a very short distance from town. Sherri has put a lot of time and effort into providing an amazing experience. She left us a kind, hand-written welcome note, snacks, and ingredients to make s'mores. My kids enjoyed the s'mores, hot chocolate, toys, and board games. My wife appreciated the kitchen, and I loved the huge supply of firewood for the fire pit and wood-burning stove. It snowed 6-8 inches during our stay, which prevented us from leaving for a day, but we didn't mind at all. We hope to return again.

    Matthew2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is amazing. We had everything we needed. The beds we're so comfy. Kitchen had everything we needed. We had board games to play. The deck and outside were perfect. We couldn't ask for anything else. Loved it.

  • Silverheels cabin is very charming, comfortableand extremely clean. Sherri provides a house guide that is thorough and helpful. She really goes the extra mile to make sure her guests' stay is a pleasant one. She even texted and e-mailed us when we had some inclement weather to make sure we were ok! We would definitely want to stay here again.

    Catherine2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, where do I begin?! Sherri's place was really awesome. The location is great, the decor charming and the space is just really cool. I've had lots of good experiences with Airbnb and I have to say Sherri is probably one of the top hosts that I've had the pleasure of renting from.

    Raenelle2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a great escape! Silverheels cabin was exactly as advertised and everything we had hoped for...and more! Sherri was great with communications and put her own little touches at the cabin to personalize the welcome for me and my family. Love the new covered deck, it allowed us to sit around the fire pit at night even while it was raining. We will definitely be return guests.

    Daniel2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was great. The perfect size for our group of four people, although six would fit well too. Sherri was very welcoming and the cabin was clean, comfortable, and secluded. We even got the pleasure of watching a moose graze for awhile just about 50 yards away from the cabin!

The Tiny House on Wheels has 17 windows and French Doors, which fills it with light. That coupled with the tall ceilings and it's beetle kill wood walls makes it feel much bigger than it's 248 sq ft footprint. Aspen trees and mountains are right outside the windows. If you've been wondering if Tiny House living is for you, or you just want to try it on for size, this is the space for you!
This may be a tiny house, but it has all the charm and coziness of a log cabin! It was constructed last year & has all new appliances. It is 31' (10 meters) long, 8' (2.5 meters) wide & 13.5' (4 meters) tall, 312 sq ft (95 sq meters) with 1 bedroom (which you can stand up in) & 1 sleeping loft (which you can sit up in) .4 people can sleep comfortably. At the top of the ladder/stairs is a cozy double bed & a few cubbies for your things. There is a queen bed & a closet in the master bedroom. All appliances & kitchen supplies are for your use, including a washer/dryer & heater (though you won't need it in summer!)
The home is in a quiet neighborhood, outside the small mountain town of Fairplay at 10,000 feet (3000 meters). The home is within the limits of South Park, and if you are lucky you may spot Mr. Hanky the Christmas Poo and Cartman, or visit the old South Park City as it is preserved from the 1800s. There are several local restaurants and cafes and a well-stocked grocery and liquor store within a 5 minute drive.
  • AWESOME! Was exactly what was to be expected. Great for two adults or parents with one or two kids. Me, an uncle with two nephews, could not have been more perfect. We had one rainy evening that was spent time cooking and bonding with each other. I am hoping this place will be available again next summer, I will be glad to use it again. Just so close to everything that we did! Thank you Leslie!

  • I strongly recommend this place. Fairplay is a nice small town and by staying at this cabin we felt we are at home. This place had everything we needed for our 5 day trip. We found breakfast food, water bottles, some other food items and it surprised us. Thanks Fran. I can't think anything negative about this place. So if the areas you are planning to visit in Colorado is not very far from this location (Fairplay) consider staying at this place.

  • Great cabin for the price. Clean comfortable and organized. Everything you need. Excellent hosts. Had to get a little creative with seating arrangements for food and baths since the water heater couldn't support our baths. But other than that it was a wonderful vacation. A fantastic log cabin in the woods on 5 acres with an amazing aspen forest. Multiple entrances to the National Forest and town are just a mile away. You will often have elk right in the yard and a babbling stream in summer months runs through the woods behind the house for a fantastic setting. We have bikes/helmets, board games, Frisbee golf, fast WiFi and Direct TV with all movie channels included. We have a new 6 person hot tub installed on the back deck !
Full log cabin with heated floors, wood stove, irrigation creek running behind through the woods and lots of elk and deer in the yard most mornings and evenings
Very quiet neighborhood, with little traffic and lots of wildlife yet only minutes to town!
  • This is a wonderful cabin in a great easily accessible area. The house has everything you could need and is close to many great hiking trails. We did a 14er even! We actually saw Elk, so the name is quite fitting.

  • Great getaway place with all the amenities you need including hot tub, fire pit, outdoor grill and deck space galore to gaze at the mountains and stars. Even full load of DirectTV and great internet if that's your thing. Miles and miles of dirt roads to explore and though you are only a couple of miles from downtown Fairplay, it's like you are on the edge of the wilderness. Lots of wildlife spotting, not to mention the neighbor's friendly horses and burros! The log home itself is airy and beautiful with comfortable beds and furniture and all the amenities for dining in which you'll want to do. A place you'll want to come back to over and over again!

Julie and Greg are wonderful hosts, they answered my questions promptly and offered up suggestions for things to do in the area. We would definitely stay here again.

  • My husband, my dog and I enjoy the lodge so much. It's very clean, very new condition, it has everything you need. We went hike in mt. Elbert, after a day of long and tough hiking , the outdoor hot tub is a haven. Julie is a great host, very nice and friendly. The lodge is dog friendly , my dog lady love to explore the wood behind , it has a little stream in the wood, the sound of the water so peaceful. We love this place so much , the best airbnb!

  • We wanted to have a real Colorado mountain experience when we visited and Elk Lookout was the perfect cabin for it! We were traveling with four adults (my in-laws and my husband) and three kids under 6. The cabin was well equipped to meet our needs and the location was fantastic! Easy access to national forest for hiking, fishing, and close to the supermarket in Fairplay so we could stock up on things to grill on the nice deck. We saw elk on the land multiple times in the evening and morning, that was a real treat! Julie and Greg were very helpful and quick to respond, they made sure the cabin was stocked with things that we would need throughout our stay.

    Christine2017-07-15T00:00:00Z

Perfect for Breckenridge VAIL Resort employees for this winter. Long term discount. Main floor private Bedroom and Bathroom across the hall. The house is nestled in the trees, yet close enough to walk to the town of Fairplay, Fairplay Beach for fishing or gold panning. Nat. Forest surrounding area. 25 min. to Breckenridge Ski area. Beautiful mountain home with fireplace, greenhouse, one cat, chickens and horses.
The house is in a very private location but still close to town and is surrounded by a magical woods. It is not uncommon for people to see forest elfs. There are eight chickens that lay very good eggs green, brown and blue. In the summer the horses are in the back field. We are happy to give people their space to enjoy the beauty of the mountains. There is no public transportation in our very small town in the mountains. However from the house it is a 15 minute walk thru the trees and the field, across a small foot bridge over the Platte River, around the fishing lake and up the metal stairs to town.
  • This place has very good vibes. I recommend it with no hesitation.

  • Our stay at Julia's was exactly what we needed - a relaxing and easy visit to the mountains! Julia greeted us immediately and made us feel right at home. Perks: easy 15-minute walk to town, gorgeous views, fun farm feel including fresh chicken eggs in the morning!

  • Julia and Gary's magical cabin in the woods was exactly what we needed this weekend! Such a gorgeous home & property. Very breathtaking and relaxing. Best part is that we were able to bring our two dogs, and met a wonderful family who was staying there at the same time! We look forward to staying at 65 Stamper in the near future!

    Mani2016-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Julia's house was wonderful! She met us in the driveway with her two enthusiastic and welcoming grandchildren. Her husband Gary showed us the room and bathroom, and then we were able to unpack and unwind. We were in the area to do some hiking, so it was nice to simply come in, get cleaned up and make it an early night. They left breakfast things and coffee out for us so we could leave as early as we liked, and still have breakfast. The next day, we used the EXTREMELY nice kitchen to prepare dinner. Be sure to spend some time exploring the back and side yards. They are truly magical. Also, they were comfortable letting our dogs explore the yard off leash. The area is fenced in, so your dogs can stay contained! Our dogs generally stay very close, but it was nice to know that a fence was in place. Julia was excellent about communication, and was helpful with directions to her house. GPS steered us wrong, so look at the map carefully, and perhaps get directions ahead of time.

  • I reserved a room in Julia's home for a trip to Breckenridge and was, sadly, unable to stay there. Julia, however, was extremely accommodating and understanding. I am anxious for another opportunity to stay there done time in the future.

She helped us with picking a beautiful trail for hiking, made us breakfast and had bbq one night and she even gave us a ticket to the local South Park City museum which was awesome! The house was very nice with a huge garden and our dog felt right at home. We really couldn't have had a better stay!

  • Staying with Gary and Julia was a wonderful experience, We felt right at home since the moment we arrived. The area is beautiful, peaceful, and the house is inviting, relaxing and a little garden paradise. The chicken and the horses in the premises were sure a pleasant surprise to see. Gary and Julia were very helpful in the house and in giving us any suggestions for the activities we wanted to do around. House is charming, clean, the space is great, we were able to cook our meals, have nice conversations and relax a lot. Thank you Gary and Julia for making us feel right at home. We will definitively be back.

  • We arrived about 4:30 pm, met by pleasant and friendly host, showed around, offered to help with bags, offered coffee and almonds and space in fridge for food. We were in comfortable beds by 7:30, out by 3:00 am for a hike up Quandary Peak. Eclectic and down home experience.

    James2016-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Gary showed us around the house, and welcomed us. The king size bed was very comfortable and the shared bath was clean. We used the kitchen in the morning to make a quick breakfast before heading off for a hike. Our visit was quick because we were just passing through, but the house would be a good base to explore the area.

  • Julia is a magnificent host. Both she and her partner Gary create a very warm, welcoming atmosphere. I stayed in the upstairs bedroom and it felt like a little mountain retreat. A bed w mattress heaters, plenty of space, and windows among the trees. There is a great kitchen and sitting room and while being close to town, the large, forested property elicits a sensation of solitude. There is a lot of laughter in this house! It is very easy to come and go and the space feels like home pretty quickly. Fresh eggs and fresh veggies from the garden topped off a wonderful weekend adventure of mountain biking, great conversation, and plenty of fresh air.

  • We stayed here on our trip to Breckenridge. The drive is short and sweet from Fairplay to Breckenridge. We didn't get a chance to meet Julia, but Gary was an excellent host. The house was very cozy and welcoming. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was kept very clean. The listing is accurate - it really is a magical cabin the woods!

  • It was just Gary tending to the house for my stay but he was still a very gracious and helpful host. I didn't have transportation so he was kind enough to give me rides to town for food and whatever else I needed. The house was very cozy and well kept and I felt very comfortable there. I couldn't have asked for a more peaceful stay there.

  • Pictures don't capture how amazing this place is. Blake was extremely accommodating. We saw a good amount of wildlife at the cabin as well.

    Jake2015-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Blake's cabin was everything we expected and more. Our group of 8 enjoyed the peacefulness and quiet of this mountain retreat. We spent evenings grilling on the back deck and watching the stars come out at night. It truly was an awesome weekend and one that none of us will ever forget. Thanks again!

    Daniel2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a magical week in Fairplay, CO at this beautiful log cabin tucked quietly away in the snow covered trees. Blake was most accommodating to all of our requests and his response time was nearly immediate. The "customer service" aspect was simply exceptional. The cabin exceeded our expectations in every way and I can't imagine staying anywhere else when our travel takes us to Colorado for a ski vacation.

    Josie2015-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Blake was very quick to respond to any and all communication before and during our trip which was very helpful & reliable. He even refunded $50 for a coat that got torn by a screw in the garage which I thought was not necessary but very customer-service oriented. During our stay, there was definitely plenty of snow on the ground and the views from the wrap around porch of trees & hills were amazing. The cabin is set far off the main road & away from other cabins, so be sure you have good tires or 4-wheel drive to get to cabin & go down driveway. We did see some wildlife out by the cabin on more than one occasion. A couple things to keep in mind: The cabin is 3-floors, but keep in mind he mentions the basement is unfinished, so really 2 floors are "livable" space. It still feels very spacious and accommodated my group of 6 decently. There are 3 beds, so if people don't want to sleep in the same bed, they'll be on the couch or inflatable mattress. You will definitely want to keep a fire going to stay warm during winter months. You may also bring some potholders & knives if you plan on cooking. :) The TV is in upstairs bedroom and not in main living area. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much! The town of FairPlay has some cute shops and is about a 30 minute drive to Breckenridge! Would stay here again!

    Meghan2016-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Blake was very informative, both about his cabin and the Fairplay area. He and I communicated often prior to our stay, right up until our arrival. If we had any questions during our stay, he immediately responded to my emails. We really enjoyed our stay, and plan to book the cabin again next year. Thanks Blake!

    Chad2015-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Was a great stay. Quiet, private, comfortable, good blend of rustic environment with luxury.

    Ashwin2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • What isn't to love about Blake's cabin! It was a wonderful place to stay. It was hard to leave! The hummingbirds at the door were magnificent. If you want a cabin that is rustic with amenities look no further.

  • Tyler's place was great for a long weekend hiking trip! We had 10 people and we're comfortable. Very nice home with everything you'll need and Tyler was very responsive during our stay. Would highly recommend!

  • A group of friends and I stayed here for a week of snowboarding and had an awesome time. Tyler was an incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful host. His home is simply beautiful, sitting in an idyllic meadow surrounded by picturesque CO peaks. Once you step inside, you'll find everything you need -- from a fully furnished kitchen to a comfortable couch and home entertainment system. We would all highly recommend a stay here, and hope to visit again one day soon.

  • Tyler's place is in a gorgeous setting. We had eleven people and were all quite comfortable. We saw wildlife and were really able to unwind, relax. We grilled and sat out on the large deck much of the time. The stars at night were also wonderous. Best time to connect with family! Tyler had everuthing we needed! Even though secluded grocery nearby and cute little town! Would definately recommend!

  • Eleven of my friends and I stayed here for a weekend ski trip. There was enough of both bedroom and communal space to fit all of us. Tyler's home is very comfy and was the perfect get away for a weekend in the mountain.

  • Me and 7 other friends stayed at this home in early march for a ski trip. Tyler was a great host who is friendly and very helpful throughout the booking process. He met us at the door when we arrived, showed us around the house and answered any questions we had about the house and the area. If you want a secluded house with beautiful views and don't mind a little extra drive to the ski resorts then this is the perfect house.

  • We loved the place, a lot of open space in the common area. Room to fit all in our party. Tyler was very helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend this place.

  • Tyler was an amazing host and the house was excellent! You can not imagine the views from this house. I was very nervous about this listing since it had no reviews. Turns out we were Tyler's first guests, but never fear, he had hosting down. The house was seriously amazing and huge! I have stayed in close to 30 Airbnb’s over the years (various accounts and with different friends) and I have pretty much never had a better Airbnb experience. The house had every channel you could want, every game you could want, and the fastest wifi I have had in the mountains. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, utensils and plenty of pantry and some refrigerator items to help make our own meals without having to buy spices, etc. There was a lot of beer in the fridge and Tyler repeatedly told us to have as much as we wanted. Talk about a nice host! There was shampoo and conditioner and various other items in the bathrooms that were available for use and plenty of nice and clean towels. Tyler had tips for different ski deals and passes, and was so accommodating in providing tips on the area and recommendations on where to go and what to. Guys, Tyler was amazing. Stay here. Our SUV got stuck in a deep snow drift less than a mile to his house (this was our fault completely...tip: always drive in the middle of the road in the mountains during snow season!). We knew Tyler was at the house waiting for us to check-in and so we called him and told him we were stuck and he graciously came and pulled us out! It was 0 degrees this evening, so this saved us both time and money should we have needed towed. He then helped carry our things in the house and proceeded to take us on a personal tour of the house and made us feel welcome. He even lit a fire for us before he left. We felt so at home in this house, and had access to everything we could possibly need. You will not believe the views—they are literally breathtaking. It goes without saying but I would definitely stay here again!

  • Absolutely amazing!! This cabin was everything we wanted and more! Tyler was very helpful whenever we needed his assistance, and the book is very informational! The view is beautiful and 2 moose walked up to the house one morning which was amazing to experience. There were 10 of us and everyone slept comfortably all week long! 10/10 for This cabin!!!

Rent 10 acres of paradise. 3 bedroom 1 & ½ bath house . 20 miles from Breckenridge. Off the grid system solar electric, wood and LP heaters. Passive solar design. Water comes from a cistern. Wood heated sauna and hot tub. This property sits on top of the ridge overlooking Park County. Views stretching 100 miles to Pikes Peak, to the Collegiate peaks. You need a 4x4 to reach in winter.
You are in the wilderness off grid. So if you have clouds for multiple days you could run out of electricity. You have 200 gallons of water in the cistern so you need to limit water use. • Staying in this home was a wonderful experience. First of all, our host was prompt and welcoming in all our messages before the weekend. I felt like she was excited for us to experience the place for the weekend. Secondly, I could not have been happier when I walked in. The pictures didn't do this place justice. The tall ceilings, living room, and wood created an incredible atmosphere for a weekend away from it all. I plan to go back many times.

  • The Two-Mile High Cabin and Morgan are an amazing find in the Colorado Rockies. The cabin is a decent drive away from the Denver airport, exactly what we were looking for to host my brother's bachelor/ski party. The cabin the a spacious two story high ceiling retreat located next to the town of Fairplay, and a short 20 minute drive to Breckenridge resort. The land surrounding the house feels exactly as a mountain retreat should: isolated, quiet, and begging for exploration with every step you take. Between Fairplay and the other small towns in the area, all of your grocery, restaurant, or liquor needs can be fulfilled with 10 minutes. Morgan was prompt and with her responses to my various emails and accommodating with our plans, even late into the night. If I ever find myself a need to return to the Colorado Rockies, this place is on the list of places to return to.

    Lucas2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan had great communication throughout the booking process. Everything went very smoothly and was as-advertised for the most part. Unfortunately there were some issues with the cabin which were out of the owner's control, including the wood-burning fireplace being inoperable and then the boiler going out leaving us with no heat or hot water for the majority of the stay, but we worked out an agreement with the owners, which is why I am still recommending the place. The owners were very reasonable and responsive and had those issues not come up, this would have easily been a 5-star stay.

    Paul2016-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this place! What a great escape from city living. The watchtower across the pond was a sweet surprise and great for star gazing and sunset cocktails. Photos don't do the place justice. Morgan was a great host and kindly allowed us to extend our checkout time which padded our vacation a few extra hours. Loved all the chopped wood available for us to make fires (inside and out) and the kitchen was full of everything we needed to make incredible meals every night. Great location and we'd definitely go back! I only wish we had LESS/NO cell service so my crew could truly unplug, but that's not Morgan's fault :)

    Jerrica2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • beautiful house on an awesome property. house has great central gathering space (living room) and is very well maintained. the woods and lakes on the property are gorgeous, and just across the road is national forest. highly recommended

  • Morgan's cabin is a hidden gem, located 20-30 minutes from Breckenridge. This is a perfect spot for your small group – regardless of the time of year. There's an open, social kitchen with a cozy wood stove that heats the home well on cold nights. Morgan was easily accessible and more than accommodating on every aspect of our stay. She is the kind of owner that makes me happy to be part of AirBnB. Cabin has washer/dryer and a wood burning stove for post-skiing relaxtion. If there is snow on the driveway, I would highly recommend parking at the top of the hill, near the road. We made the mistake of taking our pitiful minivan down near the cabin and had to get creative getting it back up the hill. Overall, this is the kind of property that makes me want to build a cabin in Colorado and hang out during the winter months. Thank you again, Morgan!

  • me and my family had the best time of our lives in Colorado, and Morgan was a great host. Thank you for everything

    yaneli2016-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a unique property perfect for small groups and large. Morgan was very helpful and responsive. House very clean. I like the fact that there are no additonal charges for people and dogs. We just notified Morgan as guest list changed and there was no problem. The house itself does not have a mountain view, but there is a viewing platform not far from the house with spectacular views of mountains and wetlands where moose like to feed. From this property we were able to climb the 14er Mt Democrat and could have climbed Mt Lincoln on same day easily. We will definitely return form climbing as other 14ers are nearby. The grocery store in Fairplay is stocked well for supplies. Lots to do nearby. Besides Mt Democrat we hiked Hoosier Pass nearby with a nice 3 mile loop up a 12er that our 4 year old grandson loved proclaiming "I am on top of the world". He should have seen Mt Democrat. We also went into nearby Breckenridge that had a perfect Fun Park during the summer for kids of all ages. You get to the Fun Park from the Gondola downtown. On the Property there are 2 landscaped ponds which we enjoyed. We had a stand-up paddleboard that our dog and grandson had a ball on in the one pond. A lot of fun was had exploring and working our way to the Sacramento River which flows through the property. We could not find a clear single path, but it was fun making our way around all the beaver ponds using numerous Moose Trails. It was quite an adventure that everyone loved. I had forgotten how nice it is to just soak in a beautiful clawfoot tub after a hard climb. There was Epsom Salt at the tub. I don't know if it is normally supplied or left by prior renter. However I would buy some to enjoy the experience. You can control the water temperature with your feet. We are planning to climb more next year and plan to return. Really nice place. Mosquitoes are there but to be honest a little repellent sprayed on clothes kept them at bay and they were never an issue enjoying the outdoors. We tend to jump around to various places, but we will return to this unique property

A genuine Colorado experience! REDHAWK RETREAT is an Artist-built Cordwood construction. Truly a one-of-a-kind home. Designed and crafted by sculptor and painter, Jim Redhawk. Nestled amidst an aspen grove with a sunny Southern exposure.
REDHAWK RETREAT is a hand-crafted Cordwood Construction. One large open bedroom on the top floor and two smaller bedrooms downstairs on the ground floor.
REDHAWK is situated in the geographic center of Colorado. Within an hour, guests may be aboard a gondola above Breckenridge or, a few minutes later over that, aboard a raft floating down the Arkansas River outside Salida. Or already soaking in a natural hot spring in Buena Vista. The Continental Divide and many of Colorado's famed "Fourteeners" are nearby.
  • I would highly recommend Doug's cabin for anyone who is looking for a getaway in the mountains! The cabin is secluded and private, however if you need anything Fairplay is only 10 minutes away. The cabin is very unique and has spectacular views. Furthermore, Doug was great communicating with us all throughout our stay!

  • This house is warm and charming. Everything from the overly thick doors with custom handles to the open yet cozy floor plan was ideal for our purposes. We were able to go to Boulder, Denver, Black Hawk, Breckinridge and more relatively quickly and on interesting, scenic mountain roads all the way. Being near the tree line and situated on a plot of land spotted with small aspen groves and deer paths this cabin/chalet/home was great for animal spotting (rabbits, foxes, deer...). At night the spring winds whipped unimpeded from the mountain tops with a deep howl that makes you feel small. As soon as you walk inside the cabin however, all noise and cold is absent. The structure is solid and the heater and wood burning stove kept us so warm that at times we would open windows to cool down. We had five in our party and between the beds and couches we were able to comfortably vacation. Water pressure was great and it tasted great from the tap. We were told that Internet and tv were spotty at best but really had little to no problems. The conditions of the roads are great and one of the cars we took (a Honda Accord) handled all easily. Be weary of downhill speeds as the shear size of everything in the mountains affects perspectives and the little mountain towns likely benefit from speeders being ticketed; we got no tickets. Indian hot springs was awesome...sort of. The vapor caves are the way to go if that ends up being a destination otherwise you're just in hot tubs outside. At black hawk we went to a casino to gamble slots for no more than 10 minutes. After four minutes and $3.00 I had won about $150. Douglas was great and quite communicative. He was concerned with us having a good time and using the amenities provided. He gave suggestions for where we could go and what we could do. Any time I texted him The response was almost immediate and my questions were fully answered. Because of douglas's professionalism and warm welcoming I will be a repeat visitor. This trip was just the fellas but the next time will be the wife and I.

  • Redhawk Retreat is a beautiful, quirky place to stay in the beautiful, quirky town of Fairplay. The accommodations are comfortable and tasteful, with some rustic touches that really give it a homey feel and get you connected with the surroundings. Don't expect the kind of homogeneous familiarity that you would get from one of the thousands of seemingly identical ski condos available on AirBnb. This place is one of a kind, and we wouldn't trade the experience of staying there for all the decktop hot tubs in Colorado. Douglas was a great host that was very responsive and easy to communicate with. He went above and beyond to make sure we were prepared for the high altitude living during the week we were there. It's definitely an adjustment for flatlanders like us, but his advice enabled us to quickly acclimate ourselves and have a great trip. If you plan to visit Fairplay, be sure to get a burger with the locals at the Park Bar, grab beer at the South Park Brewery (currently the highest brewery in North America), and visit the South Park City museum and some of the unique shops and galleries in "downtown" Fairplay. A visit to the nearby, hippie-run town of Alma is also a can't miss, as are the numerous hiking trails nearby. Overall, this is one of the most unique experiences we have had on AirBnb, and if you want to visit Colorado and get off the beaten path, this is a great place to do it.

  • The beautiful cabin was both comfortable and quite. The little details around the cabin are facinating. It was very entertaining seeing the details. From the carved floor plank in the bathroom to the hand hammered door locks and doors knobs. beautiful antique furnishings and repurposed items made for an inspirational energy. I stayed for the week end with 3 artist friends. We took a million photos to reference for future paintings. Every thing was clean and fresh, we could not have asked for more. I would recomend this cabin for anyone that needs a nice, quiet get a way.

  • Redhawk Retreat was everything we wanted and exactly as described by our very conscientious hosts. The quirky, rustic architecture was a perfect match for the quiet beauty of the rural Colorado setting. Close enough to town to get stocked up, but feels a million miles away from the city. A great escape that we will make again. Doug was always available and helpful. Highly recommend.

Tucked back in an aspen forest on five acres all by itself, this is the little getaway cabin you've always wanted. Stretch out on the hammock under fluttering green leaves in the summer. In the winter, snuggle up under flannel sheets by the wood burning stove as snow drifts outside. This property backs up onto National Forest and is ideal for hunting. In the winter, explore on snowshoes or skis, or bring the family to sled the 100 yard slope out back.
This is a classic getaway cabin in the woods. It's a quaint, simple, single room cabin off-grid home in the forest, and is just north of Fairplay. Lanterns, flashlights and campfires provide light at night, bring your own water, and you start a fire the old-fashioned way in the wood burning stove to heat the cabin. There is good phone reception in the area though, so you can still post to Instagram if you like ;) The twin over full memory foam bunk bed sleeps three adults comfortably. Larger parties, up to 6 people are welcome, but will need to bring additional sleeping gear. The property borders National Forest and there are ample opportunities for hiking and exploring. When there's snow, there's a large open slope that's great for sledding and mild skiing. Even in the middle of a cold winter night, the wood burning stove makes the cabin quite toasty inside, and we provide all the firewood you'll need. However, if you're new to wood burning stoves, keep in mind that it'll take you 10 to 15 minutes to build and light the fire, and then it'll take another 10 or 15 minutes for it to get really warm in the cabin. The stove will only really provide good heat for about 3 hours before it needs more wood. If it's a cold night, you'll either need to get up in the night to stoke the fire, or you'll wake up to a cabin that's about the same temperature inside as it is outside.
Only a 10 minute drive away, the town of Fairplay offers shopping, restaurants, and a brewery. Check out the Brown Burro Cafe, or Millonzi's Restaurant for dining, and South Park Brewing for a cold one.
  • Brian and Cynthia were great hosts! The Airbnb was exactly as described in the post. They contacted me before my stay and gave very clear directions about check-in and how to get to the house. Their cabin was beautiful and secluded and had everything we were looking for. It was very clean and I️ plan on coming back next time I️ am in the area. I️ would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cozy cabin get away.

  • This cabin will forever hold a special place in my heart. My dog and I had a girls weekend getaway and it was exactly what we needed. The cabin was quaint, clean, and perfect. The communication between Brian and I was easy, fast, and never an issue. The firewood was stoked, there was an excellent "in-case-of-emergency" kit, which I really appreciated. There was an extra headlamp, firestarter, a lighter, and the most comfortable and surprisingly cushy bedding. Jazz and I slept like logs, read 2 books in three days, spent time hammocking, and enjoyed exploring the aspens around the cabin. All in all, this was the best AirBnB I've ever found. What a special place. Wow! I can't wait to go back.

Hunters paradise filled with trophy mounts of North Americas big game animals and it's decorated with wonderful antiques. A large open kitchen is stocked with all the amenities of a home. A wood burning stove and a gas fireplace will keep you warm. Or relax in the outdoor hot tub under the stars. There is a separate game room complete with a craps table, and even antique slot machines. My place is good for business travelers, families (with kids), and big groups.
This 4500 sq foot home can comfortable sleep large groups. Decorated with beautiful antiques and an assortment of big game mounts makes this cabin a unique place to visit.
People love how quiet it is here. On 10 acres full of trees, you can't see any of the neighbors houses.
  • We arrived and Ryan already the furnace already on for us and cookies ready to go. The house was amazing and there were even origami towels on all the beds. He's even got a binder with all the nearby hiking trails, activities, etc. 5/5 would recommend.

    Michael2016-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Everything we hoped for and more! Ryan was very responsive and helpful, the house was easy to find, the jacuzzi was hot, the location was great, and the home had so much character! We plan to make this an annual tradition.

  • We had an amazing time at Ryan's home! It was the perfect size and space for our big group. It was clean and communication was easy. We're so grateful for this home for the weekend! Thank you!

    Chelsea2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This house was just perfect for a quiet relaxing weekend with friends and family! Far enough from busy ski areas that there is peace and privacy, but close enough to enjoy skiing if you want. Ryan and his family thought of everything to make our stay relaxing, comfortable, and fun! Great for families with kids or kids at heart. I really can't say enough what a lovely time was had and what a great value the house is. Would recommend to anyone, and would come back any time!

  • The photos hardly do the house justice. It is extremely beautiful and spacious inside the house while the view from the back deck is stunning.

  • Jeff was an excellent host, and the house was beautiful and comfortable. It was a perfect girls weekend!

    Amy2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay! The place exceeded our expectations and had alot of extra little things that made for a very enjoyable stay. We also got to see the moose in the backyard and some deer. Very nice place and very clean.

  • Almost in the middle of no where, it's easy to miss the turn to the "drive way", but the milky way can be seen much better. House is cozy and clean, only problem we had was figuring which handles on the water heater to turn.

    Justin2017-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This house was perfect!! Big enough to spread out and have a great weekend!

    Dana2017-07-03T00:00:00Z

  • This house is beautiful and was the perfect location for our rather large family gathering. The house is exactly as described-maybe even a little better. The owners are extremely thoughtful and very responsive to questions. It was overall a wonderful experience.

  • Cant begin to describe how wonderful this place was! Trip with four girls to this place was perfection!! The nearby hiking trails, easy drive to small town of Southpark (yes like the cartoon!!) and proximity to Breckenridge definately made this place our new favorite destination! The house comes with ANYTHING you could think of! Its absolutely adorable and stocked so well you absolutely feel right at home! The pics attracted us initially but do not give it justice!! IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE! THANK YOU Tanya!!

    TANNIA 2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Tanya's cabin was beautiful and made for a perfect weekend getaway. The hot tub was one of my favorite features and was an ideal way wind down after a long day of cross-country skiing. The property was very well maintained and although it snowed much of the weekend, the driveway was plowed regularly, making it easy for us to come and go as we pleased. The wood-fired stove was another great feature of the cabin and really helped set the mood for my friends and I. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you might need to cook up a nice meal, and we took full advantage of this, as we spent much of the weekend cooking. Thanks Tanya for a wonderful weekend, we couldn't have had a better experience.

  • This is a great place to stay. The beds could use an upgrade, but aside from that, we were very happy with the overall look and feel of the cabin, as well as the cleanliness, and surrounding property and hot tub. I would definitely stay here again.

    Brent2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for a getaway. The kids enjoyed the instruments and everyone enjoyed the hot tub during the snow storm!!

    Rebecca2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • The home is a well secluded log cabin with very comfortable amenities on a forested lot. It is close enough to Fairplay and Alma and really to Breckenridge. The location is perfect for hiking, biking, and any other outdoor activity or just hanging out.

    Todd2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was even better than described. It was the perfect winter getaway for our weeklong honeymoon. The night we arrived, temperatures dropped to zero and below, but the cabin was cozy and warm. The air is definitely dry, but an easy-to-use humidifier was the perfect thing. Enjoying the hot tub under the stars with all the lights turned off was a favorite activity every night, and there are plenty of cute towns, great skiing, and good beer to be had within 30 minutes driving. Not to mention the unbelievable scenery... we loved driving over Hoosier pass (to the north) on our way back and forth to Breckenridge, and even stopped off to hike and sled there one day. We can't wait to come back again in the summer time, and to relive our honeymoon another winter. Can't recommend this place enough.

    Cheryl2016-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway cabin and this place was absolutely perfect. My husband and I loved every aspect of the cabin, from the location and hot tub, to the peace and quiet of the property. Wished we could have stayed longer! Will definitely be back.

    Laurel2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Tanya's place was a welcoming, warm and comfortable home base for winter explorations in and around Fairplay. Instructions and communications were clear and easy to follow. The home had plenty of space for 4 adults and three large dogs. Upstairs master bedroom had great views of the moon via large roof windows. Hot tub was inviting and an excellent spot to stargaze. Hot tip - watch for moose. We saw two adults with their baby. Super cool!
