  • What a beautiful and cozy space. My girlfriend and I spent 2 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. We were welcomed by Loraine's lovely and helpful husband, Dean, and their adorable dog Ben. The property was beautiful and quiet. We loved the chickens and ducks! The living space was very charming, and the wood stove was the greatest. We loved the morning light and the peaceful views. It was a comfortable, cozy, and spacious. We look forward to coming back in the future!

  • Loraine and her husband were very friendly and willing to help wherever was needed on our trip. They directed us to some amazing Amish baked goods along with offering great places to hike or kayak. The cabin was beautiful and comfortable. We left feeling refreshed and we can't wait to come back again!

  • Miss Loraine and her husband were fantastic hosts and their place is so beautiful! I was surprised by how spacious the cottage is; the pictures really don't do it justice. There are so many great things to do in the area. This place is the perfect retreat after long days hiking, canoeing, swimming and scouting out the best farm stands. This was my first experience with Airbnb, and I'm sold!

  • This was our first airbnb experience and we are extremely happy that it was at Lorraine's retreat. It is a beutiful house on an amazing property and Lorraine and her husband are excellent hosts. Our 2 kids loved playing in the large pool, feeding the fish and the turtles, walking up and down the stream and sitting by the fire at night. We were treated to a special surprise, they were taking honey from their hives and we got to watch the whole process. The bees are a safe distance and we didn't even notice them they are too busy enjoying the nectar from the thousands of flowers on the property. The kid and us were sad to leave and can't wait to go back again. We recommend this place to anyone visiting the Lake George area, it was a 30 to 40 min drive to Lake George. We got to enjoy the best of both worlds on our vacation visiting a nice tourist location while staying in the fresh county air.

  • Loraine and family were great hosts. Their house was beautiful and the surrounding area was pristine. The house was clean and well maintained. Our dog loved it! The swimming pool was very welcoming. Like the others have said, the pictures do not do justice to the actual location. Loraine was very gracious to offer us her fresh farmed fruits and veggies - the zucchini was delicious! We had a fabulous time and would highly recommend Loraine's home to anyone who plans a VT visit.

    Nikita2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a cool property! The house space is awesome, especially the warm sun room area which is filled with fragrant plants, and there's some cool environmentally friendly designed energy going on as well. It's also located on a pleasant piece of land for some walking around and exploring in the woods. Loraine was really responsive to any questions we had and her and husband are extremely accommodating and friendly people!

  • Lorraine and family was very nice and helpful. Home was surrounded by nature. Lovely stay, thank you, highly recommend.

  • Beautiful property. Loraine and her husband were very friendly and gave us good tips on where to go after our nights stay. The place was immaculate for a house more or less off the grid, there was nothing lacking in terms of amenities. Would go back and told loraine as much before leaving.

  • Heidi's place was a great getaway. Crystal beach and lake house just miles away. Very relaxing and well kept. Heidi was very knowledgeable and helpful for anything we needed.

  • If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing place with everything you need for a vacation, this is the place for you. You're a short walk from the lake, have a private deck and fire pit, and only 5 minutes from downtown Castleton. Heidi, your host, is friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this to friends and family, and if I am back in the area, will definitely stay here again.

    Michael2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • When Dream Version needed a night off from our east coast tour, Heidi's place provided the perfect escape. What a gracious and flexible host. A beautiful setting on the lake with a relaxing fire pit. What more could one want?

    Eric2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Charming 2nd floor apartment overlooking a beautiful lake. Quiet and cozy- perfect for an affordable getaway. Simply but tastefully furnished, with unexpected nice surprises- like a marble bathroom counter. Heide was a pleasure to interact with.

    Mary2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi is a terrific host and her upstairs apartment space is just as described, cozy, very clean, with the essentials you need for a comfortable stay, including full bathroom and all but an oven in the kitchen. We had three adults in the two bedrooms with windows looking toward Bomoseen. We enjoyed the quiet spot in her wooded neighborhood, a short walk up from the lake. In warm weather you'd have more room to spread out for meals on the deck. Breakfast options and games were fantastic, and we didn't have far to go to visit family in Middlebury or to get a good meal. Communication was quick and easy -- very much appreciated since we had a last minute request and Heidi was able to accommodate us. She was on site during part of our stay, available to answer questions and provide anything we needed. Loved the wine exchange idea and cork-notes left by guests.

    Sika2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • We greatly enjoyed our 8-day stay at Heidi's. She went above and beyond by providing me with numerous gluten free breakfast items, etc.. We also had access to kayaks that added to the fun.

    Carroll2017-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot right on Lake Bomoseen! Heidi is the perfect host! Her apartment offers all we needed for a comfortable getaway while visiting family in the area. She pays attention to all the little details and is extremely welcoming and accommodating!

    Traci2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi was an amazing host and made us feel very at home. She continued to make our stay cozy and give us new amenities that made our trip more than enjoyable. The fridge and pantry had the basics we needed, shampoo and conditioner was in the bathroom, and half way through the week, a bowl of smores fixings was waiting outside our door. So sweet and accommodating! The lake access and view were beautiful, and the fire pit was so much fun. Would definitely stay again. (:

Large bedroom on second floor with a queen, double bed and a couch. Shared breakfast room on first floor has a TV, microwave, toaster, refrigerator, Keurig machine, table with 4 chairs and a small couch. Fresh water cooler and assorted breakfast foods are provided. Shared bathroom is on the first floor.
Probably the nicest mountain views you can find in Castleton. This room is the "Mountain View " room.
Swimming and boating in Lake Bomoseen is very close plus cycling to many beautiful areas are accessible right from my house along with hiking trails. Killington and Okemo ski resorts are each a 40 minute drive.
  • Beautiful home and wonderful host! Our second stay was just as wonderful as our first! Hope to be back soon.

    Lori2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Joseph was a very gracious and friendly host. The location and view was amazing. Accommodations were adequate. The Mountain View Room was comfortable and spacious enough for two adults and two teen children and our small 12 lb dog! Breakfast foods in the common eating room were perfect for our needs. Though the bathroom was located downstairs from our room, Joseph was very accommodating and made sure that it was used only by us rather than shared, per our request. Thank you Joseph!

    meghan2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful experience! Joseph is very nice. The house is pretty and there is an adorable dog!

    QIONGYUE2015-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful spot near Castleton. Bed and bedroom comfortable and it was lovely to have an open screened window for the night air. It cooled enough so we did not have to use the a/c which our room had. Joe provided a nice selection of fruit, tea, coffee, muffins, hummus, yogurt for us to make our own light breakfast and eat sitting on a sunny porch or in a tv area. We were attending a conference at the nearby college and did not have a chance to see much of the area which Joe seemed to be knowledgeable about.

    Ruth2015-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Vermont doesn't get much better! You may not want to leave.

    Dayle2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Joe was a wonderful host, he was friendly, thoughtful and communicative. He checked in frequently to make sure we had everything we needed, recommended a hike nearby and even helped when we had trouble with a leaky tire. We were in town for a conference nearby so we had long days but it was always a pleasure to come back to the place to unwind and wake up to beautiful and peaceful views. The room had everything we needed and Joe provides a great selection of breakfast foods and coffee/tea in a shared room downstairs. It never felt crowded even though there were a few others staying in the other rooms as well. I would definitely recommend and come back here next time I'm passing through!

    Hannah2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • I came across Joseph's place while I was planning a weekend getaway from Montreal with my cousin and her 6 years old daughter. As we planned on spending the whole day in Lake George, we couldn't reach Joseph's place before late in the evening. I emailed Joseph to let him know that we will be there around 9pm, to which he had no problem with. Unfortunately, we ended up reaching at 11pm due to different problems. I felt really bad, though I texted him while we were on our way. However, as soon as we reached his place, Joseph made us feel very comfortable. We only spent one night over there, but we were very pleased with the place : the beds' sheets, the bathroom, the living room were all very clean. And the bed were very comfortable. Breakfast is available in the morning. He offers coffee and tea, along with some bagels. We ate our breakfast on the terrasse, which we really enjoyed. His house is very easy to find. We felt like we were in an episode of "Little house on the prairie" without being far away from the city, which very convenient when you're driving at night. I would recommend Joseph's place to anybody.

  • This was my second stay at Joe's place and I'm glad we came back. The space was comfortable in a truly beautiful home. Joe was super friendly and made us feel welcome. I would definitely return again given the chance!

  • Joe is such a nice guy. It was truly a joy to be at his place. I strongly recommend it for anyone looking for a nice and quiet place to rest while visiting the area.

  • Lovely house, ideally situated to visit Vermont. The rooms are clean and the view is wonderful, especially at sunrise. Joe is a great host, very helpful, so nice and easy to reach. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast with home made pastries and the hiking tips provided by Joe. I would totally recommand !

  • Joe is an extremely responsible and responsive host. He came out to get us as we pulled into the drive and graciously showed us to our room. The house is in great condition and kept extremely clean. The home made treats in the breakfast room were a very nice touch. The room was clean and comfortable. He was great with our little one year old. Would stay again! Recommended.

  • Joe was very helpful during our visit. Everything was ready when we arrived there. We were getting little bit late, but Joe was always in touch with us how we were doing. He has pretty good knowledge of the area. We were there to see the fall foliage, but were concerned that we won't be to see much due to late start. Joe advised the right spots to go which were incredible and were very near to his place. Last but not least, we had pretty nice enough breakfast. I would certainly stay there again and would highly recommend anyone to stay.

    Ramesh2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had another great stay at Joe's! It was clean, convenient, and comfortable. Joe was very hospitable. We especially enjoyed the coffee and breakfast provided in the sitting room. It was a great place to relax!

Nestled on the Northwest shore of Lake Bomoseen, this quaint summer cottage provides the perfect spot for fishing, swimming and enjoying lakeshore life in the beautiful green mountains of Vermont. Knotty pine and lofted ceilings present a bright and airy space in this 825 square foot cabin on the waters edge of the lake.
This cottage was built by my dad 67 years ago. Lake Bomoseen has quite an interesting history as the largest lake entirely within Vermont's borders. It was once home to several large hotels and the railroad brought thousands of travelers to the lake resort area. Looking off the deck to the southeast, Neshobe Island is clearly in view and was home to Alexander Woollcott and his AlgonquinRound Table friends from the 1920s to the early 1940s. Neshobe was a common visiting spot for Harpo Marx, Helen Hayes, Irving Berlin and Walt Disney.
Lake Bomoseen is in close proximity to many great Vermont treasures including Middlebury and Ben & Jerry's to the north, Manchester/Dorset shopping/antiquing to the south, Rutland, Killington, Pico to the east and Lake George, New York is a 45 minute country drive to the west. There is a golf course and several restaurants that offer lake access and great views that are very close by.
  • Great place for a quiet and scenic getaway!

"Glamping" is a combination of camping and comforts. This lovely spacious camp is a short walk to Glen Lake. Enjoy the peace and beauty of nature in a rustic authentic hunting lodge. Nestled in the wooded hills of Bomoseen State Park, this exceptional "dry cabin" (no running water) has cathedral ceilings, an open floor plan, Wifi, kitchen, carpeted sleeping loft with linens, ceiling fans, plenty of clean water in containers, outdoor portapotty, and an outdoor shower area.
Enjoy an authentic rustic woodland camping experience with a few luxuries: comfy beds, ceiling fans, Wifi, and a kitchen, in a spacious area. Although there is no running water, plenty of water for drinking and cooking is provided in containers. The kitchen includes a full size refrigerator/freezer, a full size stove, a sink with a drain, as well as a Keurig coffee maker, toaster, microwave, crock pot, dishes, pots and pans, and cooking utensils. There is an outdoor portable toilet and an outdoor enclosed shower. Hot water heated on the stove can be added to cool buckets of water provided in the outside shower. A battery operated pump provides a nice 3 minute shower. As an alternative on hot sunny days, solar shower bags are provided. If its chilly, a wood burning stove heats the open space very well. There is a charcoal grill, charcoal, a portable fire pit, and plenty of firewood provided. This cabin was built in 2008 as a hunting lodge and has been well maintained and used minimally. The cathedral ceilings and pine interior create an impressive open space. Mounted deer heads add to the atmosphere.
Glen Lake is uniquely special in that it is pristine and natural, surrounded by Bomoseen State Park lands, rather than private homes. Hiking trails are close by, taking you along the lake and beyond. There is a boat launch at the bottom of the hill, 1/2 mile, and many private areas for bathing at this very clean lake. You may hear the sounds of loons or owls, and eagles are occasionally sighted. We will provide you with a list of local restaurants, shopping, recreation and places that we recommend. A stained glass studio is located in our home and we make Adirondack chairs here.
  • This was a great, relaxing experience for a weekend away from home. Thanks again!

    Cynthia2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place for a weekend away. The location and scenery were great, and the cabin was amazing! Very clean and well kept. Bill and Karen were great hosts!

    Lucas2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful area; the cabin was very cozy and the open floor plan was magnificent. We were supplied with everything we could possibly need; thank you Karen and Bill for the complimentary beers and Vermont maple syrup! We had a great time!

    Maggie2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and bill were great hosts! Bill met us in our arrival and walked us through the property- the lodge was exactly as pictured and very well stocked with great attention to detail! They welcome you with some local Vermont beer and maple syrup, which was a nice surprise and a great way to start our stay. Do not let the lack of running water or indoor facilities deter you- you have plenty of water and outhouse and outdoor shower are much nicer than expected! They have solar bags to heat shower or a battery shower that you can use in a bucket of hot water- we opted for the 2nd option and the showers were great! The beds were very comfortable, kitchen well stocked and all your needs looked after. This was a great find and overall great stay! Thank you to our hosts for making our trip to Vermont a get one. Cheers!

    Mandy2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Karen & Bill greeted us at arrival when we got in later than anticipated. The cabin was even better than expected with the massive lodge table and fresh wild flowers & herbs in vases! The sleeping loft was roomy & comfortable with quality mattresses and cozy bedding. There was even a linen rack with bath towels for guest use. Karen & Bill have stocked the kitchen well with utensils & cooking pans, dishes, etc. This helped to reduce what we had to pack immensely! Such a lovely spot and fantastic 'glamping' experience!

    Diann2016-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Bill and Karen are great hosts! We had an awesome week at the cabin and it was even better then we hoped. We have 2 young children and Bill and Karen went out of their way to put gates around the wood stove and stairs. They also set up a pack and play and high chair for us. Karen welcomed us into her home and her glass studio and let my daughter feed her chickens. They were readily available but respectful of privacy. The place is very well kept for a cabin in the woods and had plenty of space including the sleeping loft. There is plenty of hiking around the lake and 2 state parks on each end of the road so we enjoyed relaxing but never got board. Even in the chilly weather the outdoor shower was still a nice touch (just keep the stove nice and warm for when you come back in). Even though it is nice and quiet and we went to get away from our normal busy life the wifi is nice so the kids can keep entertained on a rainy day. We would love to come visit when the weather is a little warmer so we can swim in the lake.

    Josh2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Unforgettable "Glamping" experience! My wife, our three kids and I have spent the most amazing 10 days in the cabin. Its clean, comfortable and cozy with a fully equiped kitchen ( and plenty of provided water). The outdoor shower is fun, you can use the solar bags or heat water on the stove and it will be like a regular shower. The upstairs beds are comfy, with lots of towels, Karen and Bill are amazing hosts! They thought of everything: they even thought about beach towels and a hair dryer! They are easy to communicate with. We visited Karen's stained glass studio, she gave us a tour and even showed the kids how to cut glass! She is very talented! We went on a boat trip with Bill on lake Bomoseen, he is a great guide! We had a blast! Thanks Karen and Bill!

  • Karen and Bill we're extremely welcoming! The cabin was exactly as described and we had a wonderful time there. Enjoyed the free gifts very much. Captain Bill provided us a fun time out on the lake tubing and touring.when we dropped off the keys, we met all the lovely chickens, the rooster and toward their beautiful garden. We didn't leave empty-handed, either. Loved all the fresh veggies, thank you!

My place is nestled on a private road on Lake Bomoseen in the the Lakes Region of beautiful Vermont. We are within 50 minutes from Killington, Pico, and Okemo mountains. Close to Castleton State University, you’ll love the cozy, private, one room guest cottage that awaits you with your very own lake front sitting area a short distance from the bungalow. Use my kayaks or bring your own; dock space available for small boats. Boat rental is an option at a local marina.
    Pet friendly.
  • We appreciated a great place right on a beautiful lake where we could bring our dog for a weekend away. The view was fantastic and we loved using the kayaks both days. Plus, all of the little touches Dena added to the bungalow made our stay even better.

    Nicole2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Dena's cottage is a cute space with a comfy bed and thoughtful amenities. The yard with lake view was not quite what we expected, so we spent our time there inside the cottage, which was perfectly nice for a short term stay.

    Anne & Brian2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place is very cosy and clean. Guests have access to the lake. It was great to sip coffee in the morning with a great view. Dena is a lovely host with adorable dogs! I’d stay there again for sure and recommend it to my friends. We absolutely loved staying there.

  • Dena was so sweet and the place was very comfortable!

    Regan2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • A great location, and Dena is a friendly and helpful host. As others have mentioned, her house is between the Bungalow and the water, which does obstruct the view, but the view from the guest dock is fantastic and a perfect way to start your day. The bungalow feels out of the way once you're there but it is quite close to shops and restaurants aplenty. Highly recommended for a couple or a single.

    Alex2017-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin in an amazing location! So nice to have access to a separate guest dock. Wood was ready to burn in the fire pit outside guest quarters. We couldn't have asked for more. We definitely will be planning a longer stay in the future!

  • Our stay was wonderful. The cottage was cozy with lots of little welcoming touches. Dena was super friendly and helpful but also gave us our space to enjoy our getaway. We had fun being adventurous and kayaking and being lazy and watching a movie or two in bed. We can't wait to return!

    Jennifer2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you, Dena. We had a warm and comfortable stay over the holidays. The bungalow was tastefully decorated, and stocked with snacks, coffee, water, and toiletries. Best to have 4WD if you go in the winter.

This place is perfect for the family vacation. It is not right on the lake so you have a quiet time, yet you can see the lake from the balcony. It is a short walk to the dock, beach or even the restaurant “Lake House”. You do have to option to drive to each place also if you would like to. Plenty of things to do while on vacation. Fishing, kayaking, water skiing, tubing or just swimming. Local place to rent boats, or you can bring your own plenty of dock space.

Enjoy easy living within a 5 minute walk to Lake Bomoseen. Although not on the lake, you will have access to the private homeowners boat ramp, park area, and our personal dock space. Bring your boat, or rent one from the local marina to enjoy the largest natural lake in Vermont. Everything from paddleboards and kayaks to sailboats, jet skis, and ski boats are common. Bomoseen is known for its fishing all year round. Winter is very peaceful, and ice fishing is popular. Come and enjoy!
This property is brand new to the rental market, and it is pristine! Our house used to be our home, and it is very clean and well kept. It is simple, yet comfortable. The deck is great for morning coffee or just relaxing in the sun. The fire pit in the yard makes for a great way to spend the evening. On the 4th of July, you can watch the fireworks from the back yard while enjoying a BBQ!
Our house is on a quiet dead end street, and feels fairly private. It is about a 5 minute walk to Crystal Beach Park. The Lakehouse Pub is 1/4 mile away. The new Lake Bomoseen Taproom, and The Palms restaurant are about a mile. Castleton is 3 miles and has a variety of eating options, inluding delivery pizza from Third Place. It is 20 minutes to the bright lights of Rutland.
  • The place was very close to the lake and we spent most of the time in the lake with their canoe (thanks to the life jacket :) ). Their grill was brand new just like it was mentioned and we enjoyed grilling :). The best part that we enjoyed was the night stars without any light pollution. It was quite an experience we had in our short stay.

  • Most important: we would go back and we have recommended this house to friends and family. Hosts are very nice and are responsive. High-end bedding with memory foam mattresses and microfiber sheets. Kitchen and bathroom are new, with all-new faucets and surfaces, etc. Dishes and amenities in the kitchen and bathroom are all quite nice. This house is set up for good outdoor time, with a frill and a big picnic table and umbrella on the back deck, fire pit with chairs in the yard, and outdoor clothesline for drying lake clothes. Family room is smallish but fine, tv is Roku. Great location, and good dining tips for Castleton. Very good value for the price, we thought.

  • My stay at David and Heather's was just as advertised: peaceful! Heather met me for checkin and she was very warm and welcoming. The home was immaculate and the large deck was just lovely. I would welcome a return visit.

  • The house was really nice. I just was expecting it to be a bit more private but it was still pleasant and comfortable .

    Amber2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing hosts. We (group of 4) had a lovely stay with no complications or unpleasant surprises. David and Heather clearly care about the experience of their renters and enabled us to make the most of the weekend!

  • David's house makes for a perfect getaway. It is extremely close to Lake Bomoseen. We were very thankful that David provided us with kayaks and canoes. It was nice to be out on the lake and not have to worry about returning a rental. The house is cozy and private. We had a lot of fun sitting around the dining room table playing the board games that were provided. I would definitely recommend this house to a friend!

    Kelly2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a great property! The home is furnished with everything you could possibly want in a vacation home. Very well equipped. The location is a five minute walk to the beach which was awesome. The kayaks provided at they're private dock was great to have to have use of as well. The fire pit made for some memorable evening with the family. The hosts were very attentive to all our needs and questions answered in real time. A private vacation home with 5 star hotel service!!! We will definitely book here again when we come to Vermont.

    Cam2017-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here while I was attending a week long class at Castleton University. It was secluded and quiet enough to work hard and get all my homework done but close enough to grab a quick bite to eat less than two miles away. David and Heather were more than accommodating and super helpful. The place was extremely clean!!

Manchester, VT is a Designer Outlet mecca, or take a day trip to charming VT towns like Middlebury, Ludlow, Brattleboro, or everyone's favorite, Burlington. • The host was very communicative and welcoming. Very easy access to the cottage. It was the absolute cleanest Airbnb I have ever stayed in -- and I have never stayed in a dirty one. This one was just remarkably clean!

  • Great comfy place with an amazing view of Lake Bomoseen on the deck. View faces west, making it a great spot for sunset. Excellent location for nearby hikes/towns/lake views. Internet reception is poor, so is cell signal.

  • Thanks so much to Heidi and Al! Heidi, the property manager, was very responsive from the start and provided us with helpful info about the area upon check in. The deck provides amazing views of the lake, especially at sunset. The sage cottage had everything we needed for a great stay- highly recommend!

  • Beautiful location looking out on the lake. Great sunsets. The place has everything you need. The coffee was fantastic! Spotless. Even a washer & dryer. Exceptional communication with our host. Book it - You'll love it!!!

    David2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi was always available to answer questions and help in any way she can. It was a hot couple of days without a/c but that was described in the description so we knew that going on. She was nice enough to open the windows to let in a breeze to the place before we arrived. We enjoyed the sunsets on the deck, even though it's not right on the water, you get a great view. Cell signal is weak but they do offer WiFi which had a good signal. Would recommend the place if you're looking for something quiet and secluded but not too far from town. Thanks again Heidi and Al!!

Amazing lakefront presence from cute house directly on water. 2 bedroom/1bath/fully equipped kitchen and washer&dryer in house. Dock, wood burning stove, oil heat and outdoor fire pit. Comes with canoe.
House located in a cove in no wake zone.
Two marinas on the lake rent boats (motor, jet, kayaks). One restaurant on lake accessible by boat.
  • Jerry and Loretta's house is wonderful: right on the lake, very quiet, tip top clean, very nice interiors. The view is amazing, especially at this time if the year. Jerry was very helpful and available. We spent an amazing week end and hope to come back soon!

    anna2014-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Jerry was easily available via cell phone or text when/if questions arose. The pictures posted are exactly what the house looks (URL HIDDEN) was fabulous to be directly on Lake Bomoseen, hearing the water lapping on the shore during our stay. The neighborhood is quiet and there is little traffic which passes the house as it is on a dead end road. This was exactly the vacation we were looking for and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice peaceful getaway on the water. My family and I visited during July 2016 but I would certainly consider a fall getaway here too. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be with the foliage at its peak.

    Laura2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Lake Bomoseen. The cottage was in a perfect location, right on the water, clean and comfortable, with a wonderful view. We went kayaking and canoeing and ate at local restaurants. Loretta was very helpful with getting on the internet and where things were. We even tried a few of the breweries up toward Middlebury.

    Teresa2014-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This house was so perfect. We made s'mores by the fire, canoed on the lake, played Monopoly, and made amazing meals. Totally worth the price and I would definitely rent it again.

  • If you are looking for a true Vermont getaway - this is it! My friends and I had an absolutely amazing time. The house is very accommodating and being able to walk right out onto the lake is incredible!!! It is so peaceful and gorgeous ... Jerry and Loretta are very responsive and have set things up to where you feel right at home.

    Brandy2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great quick retreat for myself and daughters to find a, place not too far from Southern mass but Vermonty and offering a nice spot on calm water. Jerry and Loretta, have a very comfortable private little lake spot finished in a, way to not make dog owners anxious but comfortable all the same. Great spot for quiet canoe outings and a very relaxing well furnished porch. There is a lot of decking a lot of steps so a toddler would not function safely here but for my older girls and myself it was a great get away

    laurie2014-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • The house is in a beautiful location, right on the water. We stayed in the Fall and the surrounding scenery was picturesque. Jerry was very responsive to all my questions and provided a helpful information sheet in advance that covered all the details. Overall a wonderful stay!

    Sheila2015-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • The house was a fantastic location for my wife, myself, and our 2 children. We enjoyed the breathtaking views from the porch and took many dips in the crystal clear waters of Lake Bomoseen. The house is located in a no-wake area of the lake so the water is calm and serene. We truly enjoyed our stay, making great memories with the family, and would be thrilled to visit Jerry & Loretta's lake house in the future.

This is our favorite place to rest and restore, cook delicious meals and enjoy more active lake front pursuits. The house is, uniquely, located directly over the lake. It's a wonderful place to enjoy with friends and/or family.
The house comfortably accommodates 4-6 people, with a bedroom with a queen-sized bed that overlooks the lake, and another bedroom with two twin-sized beds that can be put together as one...We have a very comfortable brand new foldout futon to accomodate additional guests on indoor sun porch overlooking the lake!! Please view our photos. There is ample space to hang out, enjoy time with family and friends or find solitude. A small sunroom on the upper level is an enjoyable cozy spot to read a book, play music or even sleep a child or two. There is an upstairs living room, with a working gas fireplace for the colder months, and a separate downstairs living room with a couch, chair, coffee table and foosball. On the dock, there is a table for outdoor dining (our favorite spot) and lounge chairs. A small pool can be set up to give kids another option for playing in the water. There are two adjoining bathrooms, one full with a shower/tub bath and one half with a toilet. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven/stove, microwave, dishwasher, blender, toaster, and some basic cooking supplies. This is a family home that our grown children and their young children spend ample time in over the course of the year and we are happy to rent it to guests who are responsible, will take care of our home away from home, and are interested in taking advantage of the beauty and outdoor fun that Lake Bomoseen and the surrounding area have to offer.
The house is a 5-minute drive to Castleton, home to the Castleton Country Store, which has a great selection of well-priced wine and beer, Depot cafe is a must, delicious food and sweet treats, and the Castleton Diner. Just up the road, the Lakehouse Restaurant offers food and drinks with waterfront views, currently under construction, the palms at prospect bay golf course just down the road is wonderful. Fishtails bar and restaurant, the Trak Inn, The Iron Lantern. Shawn in Fair Haven is the nearest full grocery store. Rutland city center is a 20-minute drive, Middlebury is 30 minutes away, Killington ski area is 30 minutes, and Manchester outlet shopping is a 45-minute drive away.
  • This house is amazing! Right over the lake with multiple rooms for hanging out. We were lucky to have two great weather days during MDW and enjoyed the lake by bringing our own four-person float. We spent days floating in the lake, and evenings reading and playing board games. The house was well stocked with most items you'd need for a multi-night stay (linens, kitchen items, books and games galore). This made our stay less stressful as we did not need to pack much for a four-day trip. The house is right on the lake, but also right on the road. Parking and unloading our truck was difficult as we had to park across the street (a busy road) and take trips crossing the road to bring items into the house. If I can make a recommendation to a future guest, it would be to bring a smaller vehicle (so you can fit in the parking spot on the same side of the road). I would also recommend bug spray or candles. We've stayed on Lake Bomoseen before, but never really had a bug issue. We encountered mostly gnats which came out at night looking to get into the house for the lights inside. There were also a few spiders here and there on the dock. Nothing you can't kill yourself, but just important to keep a look-out when outside. All of our party loved the house and would love to come back again for MDW. Aside from the great views, being on the west side of the lake was great. We'd get the most sun (great for sunbathing) and also get the sunset. And let me tell you, the sunsets were stunning. Thank you, Heidi, for all your help and hospitality!

    Caitlin2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. What a wonderful spot for a sweet family weekend. Swimming, fishing, kayaking - from what is essentially your own front porch literally on the water. And so many distinct and private areas within the cottage - lots of space for five or more people. Thanks!

    Dennis2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • We all enjoyed a relaxing stay at the Serene lake house. I had enough kayaking to leave with blisters on my hands. The house is clean and spacious and the lake is beautiful. Heidi was very available and helpful. We hope to come back sometime!

    Amy2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect family getaway. Lots of perks. Canoe, kayaks, fishing gear (including bait) all provided. We rented a ski boat for tubing, knee boarding, water skiing, and cruising around the lake. The boat tied up easily and safely to the lower deck. Bad weather one day, but the host cannot control that!

    Lane2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful week at the Lake House, Heidi was very welcoming and responsive, you can't beat the location and there are lot of fun things to do nearby (Rodeo, Lake George, Lake House Pub and Grill, Paddleboarding, etc..). We were a little worried at first with the street nearby, but it really does not disturb your stay. The house is well appointed and has everything you need. The best feature for us was the dock, we had all our meals and breathtaking view of the lake at the same time! And we could jump right in afterwards!

    Cyril2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend!! Beautiful location over the water. The home has 2 toilets which was nice. Very clean upon arrival. Parking is limited and the house is close to the road, but amazingly we hardly noticed the traffic.

    melissa2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful house for enjoying the lake!

    Kaelyn2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • We used the Wakefield's house to visit family, slightly before the summer season was in full swing so we did not get to enjoy the lake as much as we might have in say July or August. The house was comfortable for 5 adults. It was clean and charming and Heidi, our contact, could not have been more accommodating or helpful. I wouldn't suggest this property to anyone looking to have a rowdy weekend, but if you are looking for a serene place to enjoy a nice time reconnecting with nature and family or friends, I could not recommend this place enough. The lake surrounding area seems like it would be perfect in summer months and the house is equipped with board games, a video game console, and a Foosball Table for rainy days. Also, because of the design of the house and dock even on a poor weather day you can sit outside under the overhang of the deck and enjoy the rain pattering on the lake. If you are looking for a place to stay, stop looking, you've found it.

Kingston Place dates back to the early 1800’s when the King family moved to Vermont from the Kingston, Rhode Island area. We have just completed a historic preservation of the property and are welcoming guests. Please contact us for details and with questions.
Kingston Place dates back to the early 1800’s when the King family moved to Vermont from the Kingston, Rhode Island area. The family had a very successful farming and merchant operation by the 1870’s with receipts totaling around $18,000 per month (that’s about $320k per month in today’s dollars)! In the later part of the twentieth century the house and barns fell into disrepair. Fortunately, we have just completed a historic preservation of the house and barns and are opening to the public in 2018. The house is finished and ready for occupancy. The main wedding barn is getting a new floor, complete with 17″ wide pine flooring and a beautiful beech wood dance floor. The old barn floor was not true or safe so this will be a big improvement. The barn is also getting new electrical and fire detection equipment throughout. These projects will be finished by the end of February 2018. A note on safety – Kingston Place will be fully permitted and we are working with the Vermont Department of Public Safety and local authorities to make sure we are in compliance (this has not always been the case with barn weddings). If you want an authentic, as opposed to contrived, venue for your barn wedding, with the potential via the homestead, for the wedding party to have access to relax, prepare, unwind and celebrate in a well laid out environment, then Kingston Place offers a unique venue to make your dream wedding come true. If you look at the pictures below, there’s a reason that rainbow is rising from our wedding barn!

Enjoy the "East Wing" of our unique 1830 farm house: upstairs bedroom with king size bed & downstairs den with sofa bed, private bathroom, & dining area. Enjoy access to our country kitchen, deck, & porch at our Healing Retreat, www.OldKingFarm.com.
Our 1830's farm house was previously owned by a fabulous artist that did mosaic tile design. You will notice the colorful back splash in our kitchen has red winged black birds on reeds, a common site looking out from the deck! The East wing has a new but quaint feel, recently restored with all new rooms.
When you stroll up to the high points of our pasture lands you will see an amazingly long vista of the Green Mountains, and just a peek of the Adirondacks from behind the trees. On a quiet afternoon you might hear a distant train whistle coming across Lake Champlain, a few miles away. Many painters and photographers love our place for the view, which looks more like Tuscany or upcountry Maui. The village of Benson, seems like Mayberry from the 1950's. Be sure to enjoy the general store! The surrounding area is rich in colonial history and natural beauty, with dairy cows often outnumbering the locals! We are about an hour from Killington , Burlington, or Lake George, and 40 minutes from Middlebury and Vergennes. There are good restaurants in Fair Haven, Brandon, and Shoreham, or try the Wheel Inn in the village.
  • It was excellent stay.. Caretaker James is a awesome person and unique personality..he offered us a farm walk and also arranged night fire for us.. Visited us multiple times to ask about our comfort.. You get beautiful view from patio.. Huge 110 acres of land.. And yes you get the company of cat in this house though she did not disturb us at all and always was there in living room.. Overall nice experience.. Thanks for hosting us.

  • Thanks for letting us staying at your place, great enviroment. James is great.. Good place to go and relax!! Best

  • This Airbnb is a jem in nature. Rolling green hills of Vermont are its surrounding. The house is very peaceful, your private room is in the east wing where the walls are painted a golden yellow. As the sun rises and sets the room feel so serene. Small hikes surrounding the barns are very manageable. There is even a neighborhood deer for you to become friends with and other sweet animals around the property. James - the Shaman - runs the property. He has an incredible life story to share. He is very conscious of his guest and always offering help. He even took me to pick bio dynamic vegetables in the greenhouse on the property!

    Basya2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great view of the hills from the house. Huge domain. Nice house. They also have some historical barns and planning to build a new library for the thousands of spiritual materials they already have. This place has the potential to be a great spiritual retreat for many generations to come. James is the shaman resident. He can live in the house but he actually prefers to live in a nice tent on the property. James is taking good care of the property and the tourists. He was very nice and offered us fresh veggies from the garden upon our arrival. As the Airbnb webpage says, the breakfast is not included, still James gave us a couple of fresh tomatoes in the morning to have them with us on the long drive home. Thanks, James. Dr. Orest and his good friend Yuri arrived at around 10 PM from New York. They joined James and I around the fire outside and we shared stories and discussed spiritual subjects until 1 in the morning. James performed a shaman ritual at the end. Great memories. Looking forward to keep in touch. Next morning we left in a hurry because we had a long way to go that day to reach our home in Canada. In our hurry we forgot some clothes behind. I contacted James and he offered himself to mail us our belongings. Thanks again, James, and sorry for the troubles…

    Cristian2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • An unexpectedly beautiful and unique weekend trip! The pictures don't do the farmhouse justice. 10/10 would recommend. Old King Farm is also a "healing retreat," with an organic biodynamic greenhouse, a little wooden house ideal for meditation/mindfulness, and Dr. Orest's fully equipt patient room. Dr. Orest is a licensed practitioner in Chinese and holistic medicine and was at a conference in Germany for most of our stay, but we got the pleasure to meet him a few hours before we left. He invited us to join him for his daily meditation routine, which was such a pleasant experience. He also recommended us a few nearby tourist attractions and restaurant picks as well as other upcoming local events, as this was our first time in Vermont. James, the farmhouse caretaker and our host, was so so welcoming and personable. From touring us through the nooks and corners of the house (and there are many) to accommodating our dinner with fresh farm to table veggies from their biodynamic greenhouse, from late night dune buggy rides to the unique fire pit experience (hi Dom and Justin!), James went above and beyond all of our host standards to make this experience that much more special. Old King Farm is perfect for those looking for a new, personalized, unconventional getaway experience outside of the traditional B&Bs. The general area is very secluded, with sparse civilization outside of the farm for at least a few miles. This makes wifi spotty and service almost nonexistent, so be prepared for that. For myself and three friends living in NYC, the break from technology was refreshing. There were also many flies/critters inside and out of the house, which we were expecting on a farm. Personable hosts, generous accommodations, and a beautiful space are what makes this airbnb stand out. Thanks so much Dr. O and the people at Old King Farm for an unforgettable weekend!

    Megan2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • The house is easy to find and exactly like the photos! The grounds were lovely. Dr. Orest was not there during our stay so we were hosted by James, the writer/groundskeeper who lives next to the yoga loft and library structure (amazing space!) in a tent. He gave us a tour of the house and the greenhouse when we arrived. We had asked about nearby swimming and James joined us at Sunset Lake which was a 10 minute drive from the farm. The lake has amazing water and was great for swimming. There is no real beach area so inflatables are perfect. James also offered to start a bonfire and shoot guns with us. We had really looked forward to some peace and quiet, so we declined. One of the best unexpected features: the 2 outdoor showers!! Definitely try them!

  • This place is a gem! We feel very lucky to have found it. It is so much more than a B&B! The host was super helpful and knowledgeable and even gave my husband an acupuncture session, which was incredible. We had fresh eggs from the farm next door and freshly picked tomatoes from the property that has a biodynamic vegetable garden. The area offers a number of fun activities easy to access, cruises on the Champlain river, Maple Syrup museum, great restaurants, the vibrant college town of Middlebury not that far away. It is a place to get recharged and energized and spend some time, definitely for more than one day.

Rustic, comfortable cabin in desirable Lake Bomoseen area of central Vermont. Great family or personal escape from the hectic city. Quiet stream wraps around the property with lawn area to relax and play. If looking for a place to 'party' and enjoy loud music, this is not the ideal location for a stay. A great little family beach on the lake is a short walk nearby. For kyackers that want access to Lake Bomoseen, the cabin has deeded access to a private boat ramp 2 minutes down the road.
Rustic, warm cabin available for rent in central Vermont. Perfect for relaxing family vacation, (weekend or week out of the City or suburbs) Writer's Cabin, Fall Foliage Trips, Antique Trips, Fishing, Kyackers that want to get on Lake Bomoseen.
  • There is so much more to this cabin than photos or descriptions can do justice. It has a total old-fashioned built by hand wood cabin feel to it, complete with log siding on the outside. It is peaceful and secluded with a very private feel with a calm stream wrapping around the cabin and plenty of yard space surrounded by trees and lots of sunny exposure. And yet, a friendly lake-front community is within minutes by car or walking. For such a traditional escape to the woods experience, the actual interior of the cabin is a perfect combination of modern amenities with an all-wood structure. The bathrooms and kitchen are all contemporary and clean with large modern appliances and fixtures, there is a gorgeous master suite surrounded by glass sliding doors overlooking the stream. The owner has gone to great lengths to stock the cabin with truly everything you could need from games to books, to DVDs, a fire-pit, Vermont Castings grill, riverbank and deck seating areas over the stream, the list goes on. Perfect for a family or couples retreat, and with three bedrooms and additional futon and a pull-out couch there is plenty of bedding. We originally planned to explore the area even as far as Lake George an hour away but ended up staying at the cabin for most of our long weekend, finding everything we needed and more already offered to us right there. Gorgeous Lake Bomoseen is practically across the street, there is ample hiking and wildlife nearby as well. All in all, you can not ask for more from this incredible cabin, and receives my highest recommendation!

  • The place was fabulous. A great place to have a peaceful getaway. Will definitely stay again.

  • The cabin in Castleton was quiet, relaxing and very private. We had a wonderful long weekend away with our newborn baby despite two days of rain. The weather kept us inside however the cabin provided a truly unique symphony of rain and the nearby brook. We will certainly be recommending this location to our friends.

  • We have a wonderful time at Gary's cabin. It is a dream heaven to relax peacefully surrounding by nature. There is a beautiful stream just beside the cabin that you can enjoy its calmness nature and the sound of water flow privately. The cabin is perfect. It is comfortable and beautifully decorated. It provides comfortable "home like" experience that you can feel it from every corner. Gary and his mom (Ann Mary) are very kind and friendly. It is truly family-and-kids friendly; it has plenty of space indoor and outdoor, many games, books, nature guides, binoculars, and many others things. There are bird feeders that bring many birds to visit us all day long. We have three kids. Our eight-year-old son loves the stream and the birds while our two-year-old daughter loves to run around inside and outside the cabin. Our four-month-old daughter stays calmly inside the cabin and beside the stream. We definitely want to go back again and again. It is a perfect place that you can stay peacefully. The Crystal beach of Lake Bomoseen is just five minutes away by bike. The cabin is just about 25 minutes away from Rutland where you can find everything we want. It's just right if you want to find a place to stay for a vacation.

  • Gary is a wonderful host and the cabin is truly peaceful. It sits along a rippling stream off the road and in the woods. Great indoor and outdoor seating and a well furnished kitchen. There is nice grassy space outside for kids to run around and play. Lake Bomoseen is beautiful!

    Tina2017-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at the cabin was so peaceful and relaxing...the perfect spot to relax and unwind before my final year of grad school! Gary was very helpful, making contact before my stay and checking in afterwards to make sure I had enjoyed my time while there. Everything about the cabin was comfortable and easy. There were so many spaces to explore, relax and unwind in- the sitting area by the water out back felt magical, the hammock out front was so peaceful and relaxing, the bed on the sun porch was amazing. Although I'm sure there were plenty of things to do in the area, I felt very little desire to leave this magical space. I will certainly spend time here again- a little slice of paradise!

  • Book it! This place is incredible. Comfortable and peaceful with all the amenities you need. Walkable access to the lake and a couple great restaurants. Oh, and falling asleep to the creek behind the house is priceless. We'll be back.

  • My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time staying at the IvesWollyny Hideaway! The house is located on the north side of Lake George away from the crowds you find at the southern end of the lake and off of the main roads. The area is beautiful, secluded and quiet. Wendy was very responsive over email and the house was as expected. We had a great time and hope to come back soon!

  • Top notch hospitality. Amazing recommendations of local things to do and see were left for us and they were spot on and made our trip! Great communication and really went out of their way to have us feel at home and welcome. We will be back! Our only constructive feedback would be to maybe honor the privacy of their guests more. The owners parents also live on the property in their own home and frequently came around to the property/home we rented. Asking questions, taking pictures, it was odd and made us feel a little uncomfortable. But again, we would absolutely visit this AirBnB again because it is absolutely THE BEST!!!

Our guest house is a remodeled barn adjacent to our home but entirely separate. A "magical" bedroom upstairs, for kids of all ages. Fireplace downstairs, with living & dining areas, bathroom with shower. Minor cooking: fridge, micro wave, etc. Gas grill and fire pit. A canoe, flat bottomed boat. Bring binocs if you are a birder. Best part: it is entirely secluded with 25 acres of forested land surrounding it AND it is directly on Lake Champlain with easy small boat access. Kayaks welcome.
A PERFECT WRITERS RETREAT, WITH OUR NESTING OSPREYS FOR COMPANY. We are the southern most house on the Lake in Vermont and look directly into the Adirondacks. Please note that the "second " bedroom is the living room downstairs with a very comfortable sofa bed. We have hiking trails on the property, and a small secret waterfall.
  • I am braver than my husband when it comes to finding a place to stay. I knew it the minute I saw the house on AirBnB that this was the place. And I was right. Comfortable, quiet, pressure free, easy to get to the places we needed to and gorgeous Vermont farms and landscapes. AND>>> great food and general stores. We are from Maine and appreciate this and more. Thank You Cynthia and to your invisible husband..Oh and my husband.......very surprised, happy and relaxed!!! Win Win..

  • When I say amazing, that word doesn't come close to accurately describing how incredible our stay at Cynthia's place was! My wife and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary and brought along our 18ft boat, as well as a SUP and kayak. This was the perfect location to explore the water, no matter what vessel we chose for the day. In addition to the best location right on Lake Champlain, the host was so helpful and kind. Cynthia seems like a genuinely good person and went out of her way to make our stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. I was thoroughly impressed! I've used Air BnB on several other occasions in many other states so I've had a lot to compare her place to. I can tell you she stands out from the rest! Highly recommend!!! And the family of Osprey nesting on the property is an added bonus

    Jillian2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • A cozy cottage perfect for a peaceful get away. Lovely comfortable space to relax in, nice sitting space outdoors with a grill. A resident Osprey nests at the point, bring binoculars. Cynthia is a wonderful hostess!

  • So much to say about my stay at Cynthia and Steves place in Vermont. This was my first vacation in a long time and I couldnt have wished for a better place to spend with my girlfriend. Obviously, the views were specactuclar, grandiose mountain ranges coupled with the tranquil flow of the lake already made this worth the trip. However, it keeps getting better. The house/renovated barn that we stayed was well decorated and exceptionally cozy: a plentiful supply of comfortable blankets and sheets that smelt so good they must have even raised Mr. Clean's eye brows ha! Beyond this, Cynthia and her husband Steves hospitality really made us feel as if we were family friends. The fridge was suprisngly stocked with some beverages and yogurt, as well as fresh fruits, vegetables and eggs which they had gotten at the Farmers market for us! Aside from that, they were genuinely friendly and caring people, and I really hope we can make it back again!

    Robert2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place and everything as described. Cynthia and Steven were the most amazing hosts.

    Sarah2017-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Cynthia's last house on the lake was heaven. We had a huge backyard leading to Lake Champlain, and she let us use her kayak. There was a nice breeze at night so we didn't even need the fan. The breeze also kept mosquitoes away. Cynthia was very sweet, she had treats on the table when we arrived, and a stocked fridge. She even bought my husband cupcakes because we were celebrating his birthday. She gave us our privacy and was there when we needed her. Beds were very comfortable. If we had kids, this would be a perfect house as well. Wonderful stay and amazing host. You will feel so welcomed under Cynthia's presence and lovely home.

  • As I was Beth's first guest, she was there to greet me. Instructions were clear and cooking facilities were great. I like the choice of eating at the picnic table, on the porch, or inside. Coffee on the front porch in the sun was terrific. I was joined by my son who is a counselor at the Green Mountain Conservation Camp. He truly enjoyed a couple of nights at the Beth's place and there was plenty of room if he had wanted to bring a friend or two.

  • Large spacious room and very quiet location. If you want to get out and rub elbows with the locals, this is the place to do it. We went out to her back yard one night about 9:30 and looked up. I had forgotten what the Milky Way looked like. WOW!!! What a sight. That alone was worth staying here.

  • Vermont Getaway was easy to find with Siri's help. We had everything we needed in this spacious, cozy, comfortably decorated room. Much more room than our fancy downtown Minneapolis hotel room we stayed in for a wedding last month and LOTS more personality, which is what we like. Dale is a great host -we are so glad to have met her. And we hope to be back again.

    Elizabeth2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time and Dale was a great hostess. From the minute I booked our trip until right after we checked out, she was in touch with me and quick to respond to my questions. The room was big, warm, comfortable and clean. There was plenty of room for the three of us and our things. I would highly recommend her home and will definitely be staying there every time I'm in Vermont.

    Lynn2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Dale was a great host, sharing information, tips, and equipment. The space was beautiful, large and well-equipped and comfortable. And so very peaceful. It was centrally located for our day trips and such a great place that it was hard to leave. We came for 2 days and stayed for 4.

  • Beautiful place!

    Rachel2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first AirBNB stay and I really enjoyed it. Even though I was taking a class in Rutland during the days, I wanted to be somewhere I could sleep where it was quiet and I could keep the windows open. This was the perfect place. Its about 20 min from Rutland but its a beautiful drive. And even on a couple hot days, the night cooled off so I did not have to run the air conditioner. It was just myself, but two people would be very comfortable. There was a nice bed, a comfortable sofa and a table and chairs. There is no kitchenette- just a frig and microwave, so plan on going out to eat. There is also a nice table and chairs in a large yard. My AT&T cell phone worked, but not my Tracfone. The wifi is excellent. There is not much in the very small town but Poultney with its good restaurants is not far, and also close by is Lake St Catherine with a nice beach. I would definitely stay there again.

There is DSL internet, satellite TV, and Tennis and Pickleball included at a private court near by. A complete list of all amenities can be emailed. PLEASE NOTE: Most all essentials are supplied except sheets & towels and can be supplied at additional cost per guest .
The cottage is at southeast on the lake,so you have sun till late in the evening.
The lake is quiet with restricted motor boat activity . very suitable for small children. Fishing is very good. Stop and ask us about restaurants and places of interest in the area.
  • If you are debating whether or not to choose this cabin on Beebe Pond, stop debating and reserve it now. Joe and Mary's place is a hidden gem, and you will not find more gracious hosts. The photos and description do not do the cabin justice. The view from the terrace each morning across the lake (it is bigger than a pond) is enough to want you to come back, but there is so much more to offer. The cabin is a lot bigger than it looks, and can easily hold up to 8 people, six comfortably with a bed each. Joe and Mary have kayaks, a canoe, paddle boat, row boat and even a sunfish sailboat at your disposition, and your hardest decision is which to take out on the lake. Joe was always available, communication was impeccable, and both Joe and Mary always offered their assistance. The cabin is very clean, big and more than sufficient to meet all your needs. Wild life is all about, and it is not hard to find, being just off Route 30. Fishing in the lake is very good, full of largemouths, pike and panfish galore (great for young fishermen). There is plenty to do in the local area as well, but the lake is so appealing you may not even want to leave. We will definitely be coming back!

  • This lakeside cabin is a hidden gem! We thoroughly enjoyed our time there: from sitting on the deck looking at the beautiful foliage around the lake to cooking brunch on the barbecue. The house is very cozy and completely equipped with everything you need. Thank you Mary and Joe for an unforgettable weekend!

  • We stayed for a weekend in September. The lake is lovely, and was still swimmable. The hosts provide an amazing collection of watercraft, and we were able to take two family canoe trips. The house is comfortable, and though the kitchen is small, it is well equipped. We didn't realize that linens weren't provided (our fault, not the hosts) and they rescued us with sheets and towels. A great place to stay for visiting the Middlebury area!

    Frederick2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at the cottage. It was perfect for what we were looking for: just the right size, right on the lake, access to boats, well equiped kitchen, and great surrounding wooded trails. The hosts were very nice and accomodating. They even lent us a pan in which to cook our turkey for Canadian Thanksgiving! I would definitely recommend this place to families. We plan on returning.

Our black lab Sadie had the time of her life swimming in the lake. The home has very close access to a public boat ramp. The outside grill was powerful. The kitchen is well equipped! Seating plentiful for dining. Living room cozy with view of lake. The beds were all made up, upon our arrival, and quite comfortable for sleeping. We truly enjoyed our vacation on the Lake!! Thank you, So much for sharing your home with us. Linda

Come relax on the farm. 3 bedrooms. Bring the whole family, just the 2 of you or a girl’s weekend away! Enjoy “the farm experience” or use us as a home base for visiting Vermont! Several lakes & ponds nearby for some great fishing (including ice fishing). boating and swimming. No fancy knick knacks or antiques that you constantly have to keep an eye on with the little ones. Quiet gravel road. Our stargazing is awesome!
The house itself is kid friendly. There aren't fancy antiques and knick knacks that you have to constantly keep an eye on. We are casual and clean.
There is a family restaurant with a bar right in Benson Village, a village store for milk and bread, gas, beer and wine, G&L is another small family owned store on 22a that makes pizza, sandwiches, creemies, has gas, milk bread, beer, etc. We are close to Castleton University and Green Mountain College. Middlebury College and St. Joseph's College are a little further but an easy drive.

  • We had a great New Years at Your Own Place! Jacki and Bob left a note that made us feel right at home, and although we didn't meet them, I did introduce myself to Jake, who works on the farm as well. Everything was just as advertised, and there was also a VCR and a pile of VHS tapes that entertained us on New Years Day. The water has a high sulfur content, which made for awesome showers (so soft!) but wasn't so good for drinking straight from the tap. They provided bottled water though, which was very nice! There was also a compost bucket which we were encouraged to use - something my food-conscious friends and I appreciated a lot. A few of us are farmers, so it was nice for all of us to be in the atmosphere of a working farm for a few days off to celebrate the turning of the seasons. I definitely recommend staying here, it's a picture of "real Vermont" that's better than any postcard you can buy. Oh, and the bed I slept in was super-comfy!

  • The bucolic nature of this property is stunning and picturesque. Check in was a breeze, and we appreciated the flexibility! The guest house has plenty of beds for our group and we had a serene sleep! We also had a great time pawing through the vast collection of VHS tapes and puzzling mind bender games- a hoot for the whole family! Next time we stay we will look forward to exploring the farm!!

  • Jacki accepted our last minute reservation for our family to stay in their quaint farm house when we attended a family wedding in the area. There was ample space and it was clean. We all enjoyed hearing the cows, goats, chickens and a visit from their sweet kitty. We would definitely recommend staying here if you like a quiet ,country experience.

  • Had a great time. Great way to get away from the city. No wifi or cell phone reception but felt good to leave it all behind for a few days.

My place has lake access, is close to restaurants, historic sights, outdoor and family-friendly activities. You’ll love my home because of the great views, the outdoors space, the neighborhood, the comfy beds, and the kitchen. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families.
Full kitchen and dining area with lake views. A screened porch which is ideal for relaxing with a cup of coffee in the morning, a good book in the afternoon, or your favorite drink in the evening. Lake access, outdoor dining, covered patio, both sunny and shaded areas for lounging outside, and a canoe available for your use. Near good restaurants, historic sightseeing and interesting Vermont locations The house is very private and is close to everything if you understand country life, but far away if you are from the city. The lake is great for swimming, floating, fishing, kayaking, canoeing and using a water board. The area around my house is wade-able, you can walk out 15-20 before it gets over 5 feet deep. Bring water shoes, there are rocks and shells in the water. Great fishing...Fishing boats may have Electric trolling motors only (up to 5 -10 horsepower). The lake is 43 feet at the deepest point. There is a walking/jogging trail around the lake. It is primarily made up of dirt roads with a short path in the woods. There is a wooded area next door to the house, set aside as a state nature preserve, it is great for bird watching. There is a guest book in the house with more details about the house and things to do in the area. The house is ideal for guest with limited mobility, it has ramp access to the house and everything you need on the main level (good for walkers and canes, yet is not fully wheelchair accessible). Send me your questions .
  • This place was amazing! Very well stocked with everything you may need....just like home! Picturesque views!

  • Very beautiful location. Master bedroom on the first floor with a full bathroom. Upstairs has the two other bedrooms with a half bath. Nice setup for families. No cellular service so be prepared to only use wifi. nicely setup kitchen. There's also a few good nearby restaurants in case you don't want to cook.

  • We had a very relaxing week at Andrea's place. The place is beautiful with access to lake and great view from the porch/deck. The house is clean and has all the facilities listed by the host. My 3 year daughter enjoyed the stay and did not want to leave. Andrea is very responsive and on the day of checkin made sure we had everything we needed.

  • The house was great. It's right on the lake and has amazing views right from the porch. There's some decent fishing in the lake too. Overall it was just what we were looking for and Andrea made the trip easy. We plan on coming back next year.

  • Chalet Felicite was absolutely amazing! Sitting on the porch watching the sunrise and the sunset was perfect. The views, peacefulness and overall beauty will make you want to return. This house is great for a lake vacation with family and/or friends. It is off of a main road, but tucked away far enough where you can enjoy listening to the birds while staring out on the lake. We all took turns taking the canoe out which is a must-do! Planning our trip with Andrea was easy and fast. She was incredibly responsive and helpful with all of our questions. I am already looking at my calendar to see when we can return.
