Cozy one bed one bath unit on first level of a two unit log home. We are just 27 miles from Sugar Loaf. Perfect for a weekend of skiing , snowmobiles, X- country. Why pay slope side rates when you can come home to your own wood burning fire, free WiFi and cable with all the amenities of home at a fraction of the cost.
I have been focusing on health and wellness so I added a work out yoga area. You may already have a routine and just don’t want to bring your gear with you or you just need to stretch before hitting the slopes. I have you covered. I also provide a bowl of fresh fruit and an assortment of herbal teas for your health and happiness.

  • We had a terrific stay at Peter’s cabin while in Maine for a ski weekend at Sugarloaf! Peter was a great host and the space was comfortable and very cozy. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances, and it was nice to have the option to cook at the cabin. The drive to Sugarloaf was very easy, making the cabin a perfect place to stay for a ski getaway. Thank you Peter, we hope to be back someday!

    Jennifer2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Peter’s place was nice and private even though it was connected to his home. We had everything we needed and the fireplace was a nice addition to a ski weekend.

  • Had a great weekend getaway here! Perfect place to feel cozy and right at home. Beautiful cabin right on the lake. Christina was a great host. Highly recommend!

    Michael2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very very nice and it was perfect for our weekend. It was a little hard to find but Christina was responsive and helped us find the right location. The lake was beautiful!

    Rory2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • The place was amazing and worth the money. The waterfront was beutiful and crystal clear. Some small things were wrong but overall it was a great trip and absolutly worth the money spent.

    Andrew2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Christina's cabin/camp was perfect. Quiet and peaceful with a beautiful view of the lake. Great location for some time to relax and recharge. Christina was very responsive to any questions I had. Her listing is spot on accurate. Kitchen had more than enough pots, pans, and appliances. There was ample bedding and linens. Self check in was easy. Looking forward to coming back in the future!

  • Such a cool place to watch the sun pop up over the trees and shine down on the water

    Chantal2018-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy place, loved all the games and movies provided! Great place to stay in and keep warm during the cold weather! Perfect get away!

    Alesha2018-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • My stay was absolutely perfect! It actually started to snow a bit on the Saturday we were there. We brought extra little blankets and enjoyed the nights and watching the snow outside on the screened in porch. I can’t wait to come back!

    Eileen2018-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for something in between “going up to camp” in Maine (i.e. roughing it with no indoor plumbing) and an overly-luxe quartz-countertop experience then Christina’s rustic cabin is right for you! This lakefront cabin strikes the ideal balance. It’s more spacious than photos allow (good for 2-4 adults) and we visited during peak foliage season. The views were stunning and Christina is a very prompt hostess in her responses. Tip: there’s a cook-your-own lobster/seafood pound less than 15 minutes away called High Tide Low Tide in neighboring Madison, ME. There is also a corner store about 6-minutes down the road for any incidentals you may need including basic groceries and alcohol (they also have a small cafe with fast food, pizza, and coffee). Christina’s cabin has indoor plumbing with hot water, direct lakefront views and access, toaster, toaster oven, working stove/oven, no microwave or grill at the time we visited, yes to an adequate indoor shower, screened-in-porch, TV (no WiFi/cable), plenty of tissues and paper products and soap, some cobwebs and other evidence of nature (not a good match for those who desire white-glove cleanliness; yes a good match for those who want a compromise between ‘roughing it’ and not being able to enjoy a rustic Maine experience due to too many luxe amenities), spectacular views, and a responsive host. Unplug and unwind!

A 4 season home made mostly from reclaimed materials, offers a rustic feel, yet provides modern conveniences. On our private wooded lot w/@ 367ft water frontage on serene Fahi Pond, you can come to get away from it all, sit back & relax, reduce stress & find your zen. Or, if it’s outdoor adventure you prefer, start w/touring the pond on our kayaks, while listening for the loons & watching for a deer out for a stroll. The Fahi Pond Retreat has something for everyone!!! Find more details below...
The Fahi Pond Retreat has it all, with the added bonus of gazing out at peaceful Fahi Pond just steps away from the house, while listening to the loons and possibly seeing an eagle fly over. This home in Embden, Maine, nature’s paradise, will provide you with the options you are seeking, whether they be adventure based or about lazy days reading or writing a book and finding peace in the solitude that this vacation retreat offers. If it is solitude you seek, this home is perfect for artists, writers, yoga, meditation and just enjoying “being” here and absorbing all that the natural surroundings offer. Either way, you’ve come to the right place as you’ll also find leaf peeping, skiing, golfing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, white-water rafting, kayaking, hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, ATVing and even riding in a seaplane, much of which are doable just steps from our front door, with others only being a short drive away! What’s great about our year round home home is that you feel as though you’re remote, but you have so many things available to you within a short drive from our fully equipped home. There are multiple grocery store options, LOTS of outdoor activities, some great restaurants, bakeries, antique stores, eclectic shopping & breweries, arts, theatre, all in nearby towns like Skowhegan, Waterville, Bingham, Madison and Kingfield. About the house itself… Our 1,400sf home is located on a 3+ acre wooded lot, with approximately 367ft of water frontage on Fahi Pond. The home is quite unique being that it is a newer home built in 2009, but has the character of a home from the 1700’s. It’s like taking a step back in time while still having modern conveniences, so you get the best of both worlds. The home was built with many refurbished items like built in cabinetry and window boxes and reclaimed wood. The home sleeps 6 with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, one with a tub on the 1st floor and the other with a shower on the 2nd floor. One bedroom is on 1st floor w/a queen bed, while two additional bedrooms are on 2nd floor, one w/a queen bed & one w/a twin bed and daybed. The home is fully equipped to the point that you should be able to pack your bags & bring your groceries and just show up and start enjoying your time at The Fahi Pond Retreat! Embden is located in Central Maine, surrounded by two picturesque rivers (the Kennebec River and the Carrabassett River) and bordered by the following towns and territories: Anson, Concord, Lexington, New Portland and Solon. Although our home feels remote, it is accessible within less than 2 hours from Portland, ME and less than 3.5 hours from Boston, MA. If it’s fishing you desire, Fahi Pond has a strong wildlife habitat offering 196 acres of shallow waters. Fahi Pond is a Wildlife Management Area managed by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, where you could test your luck at hooking a white perch or pickerel, just a couple of Fahi’s common catches. Motorboats with more than 10 horsepower are prohibited on Fahi Pond, which contributes to the serene atmosphere of the area. Within less than a 10 minute drive you can be at Embden Pond with a public boat launch, well known for its great fishing (even land-locked salmon) and pristine deeper waters. This pond is not only larger at approximately 6 miles, but it has a heavier activity level with motorboats and many homes around the pond. Skiing is another favorite activity for many. One of Maine’s premier resorts, Sugarloaf, is less than 35 miles away. In the Sugarloaf area you can also take on many other winter sports like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating and fat biking, all available through the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center where rentals are offered. Sugarloaf is also well know for their award winning golf course which is not only challenging but offers stunning mountain and river views. The list goes on of what you can find all season long, even ziplines and segway tours! And speaking of golf, there are other courses just minutes from The Fahi Pond Retreat! The closest is Diadema Golf Club, less than 6 miles away, a 9 hole course with gorgeous fairways. There is also a restaurant on site offering many yummy items. Lakewood Golf Course is an 18 hole par 72 course in the town of Madison, less than 15 miles from The Fahi Pond Retreat. According to the Golf Digest website, Lakewood has “great holes that are challenging and lots of fun to play. Some like to call this a hidden gem.” This course also includes Maine’s only par 6, in addition to fantastic scenery. Renting our home is a new concept for us so we hope that you find everything you need and enjoy our home as much as we do, but please reach out with any questions so we can ensure you fully enjoy your stay! Amenities Provided: WiFi/high-speed internet Television (Apple TV device allows use of NetFlix or other subscriptions, but no cable service provided) Landline telephone (mainly for emergency, or for collect calls or use w/calling card) Towels (bath, hand and face) are provided for both bathrooms Single ply toilet paper (requirement for septic system) Paper towels (starter rolls provided but bring extra if needed) All beds are made with premium Tommy Bahama or DKNY sheets Additional blankets are provided Additional pillows are provided Iron & ironing board First aid kit Shampoo & soaps/body-wash are provided for both bathrooms 2 hair dryers Kitchen is fully stocked with multiple pots & pans including a lobster pot Electric stove with oven Jars for cooking grease (located under kitchen sink) Microwave Toaster Blender Keurig coffee maker (some k-cups provided) & regular coffee maker (filters supplied) Utensils for cooking, serving and grilling Sugar, salt, pepper and many spices for cooking & baking Dishes, bowls, glassware including wine glasses (wine & bottle openers supplied) Cutting boards and knives (sharpener supplied) Broom, vacuum, hand-vacuum Washer & dryer Gas grill w/propane tank & backups 2 kayaks (1 equipped for fishing), 2 adult life jackets, 2 paddles Oil heat by baseboard, dual zone Additional parking available at top of driveway for additional vehicles, trailers, ATVs, boats, etc. Picnic table, chairs & fire-pit at pond-front Dock for use with kayak drop-in
The home is located steps away from Fahi Pond, in a gorgeous & serene area where it’s not unusual to not see anyone else, but when you do it’s likely a passerby on a kayak or someone fishing from a small boat (10 horsepower restriction adds to that serenity). Our home is unique in that it was built in 2009 but on the inside it appears to be from another era as it was built from repurposed materials & reclaimed wood. A newer home that looks old but has the conveniences of modern day, the best of both worlds! It’s lovely to sit by the water and listen to the sounds of nature, especially the loons, and hopefully get to see an eagle fly overhead. The area really is a nature’s paradise!
  • House was sparkling clean, 10 minutes from grocery store and gas stations, excellent location

  • This is our third time staying at Karen's lovely Embden cottage. Instructions are always clear and check in/check out are seamless. We highly recommend staying here.

    Lee2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED staying here! Very clean-- even the OVEN was sparkling clean! Lots of storage space for food and clothes. Amazing location, just steps from the pond-- would be GREAT in the summer. We saw eagles flying while walking around on the frozen pond in February. Beds were comfy, had all the pans/tools we needed to cook 3 meals/day. We thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful, quiet atmosphere at the end of a nice long driveway in the trees. It was an easy & scenic 45 mins to Sugarloaf to ski for the day. The reclaimed building materials make you feel like you are in a lovely old farmhouse. My husband said, "I could live here for the rest of my life!" Next time we'll stay longer than just 2 nights!

    Jessica2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Super cozy place in the wintertime. Karen is super responsive and there's plenty of communication. I knew I could reach out to her with questions or concerns at any point during the week of my stay, and that was very reassuring. Also, there's a lovely black bear hanging in the living room as well.

    Aidan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Karen's cabin, we arrived during a snowstorm and the driveway and parking area was all plowed out for us. The house was very clean and so cozy. Beds were very comfortable and kitchen well stocked with dishes, pans, and some basics. Beautiful waterfront view of the lake, we saw some people ice fishing out there. Comfortable couch and chair with ottoman where I curled up with a book while my husband and friends were out snowmobiling at our nephew's house. We're planning on coming back in warmer weather when we can enjoy sitting out at the lakefront and having a fire in the fire pit. Karen is a great host, responds quickly, and sent great directions and instructions for check-in.

    Martha2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Karen's home was spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked, and she had a book with helpful house information and suggestions for local activities. It was winter, so we didn't enjoy the lake...but we're guessing it would be fabulous in the summer. Our request to stay was last minute--we appreciated Karen's willingness to host and her quick and helpful communication with us. Highly recommend!

    Karen2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Karen's place is so lovely. The place is always clean and well-prepared for guests. If you are looking for a quiet stay away from the city, this is the place to go.

    Lee2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Fahi Pond Retreat for the long weekend. The house is beautifully kept and location was great to get to hiking trails. The cottage is very secluded and private. Karen communicated clear directions about how to arrive and odds and ends that we should know about.

  • Perfect little cabin for a winter weekend getaway. The frozen lake was beautiful and the fireplace kept the cabin nice and warm.

    Kyle2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin right on the lake. The lake was frozen over, but the view was still beautiful. The place felt spacious for a small cabin, which was great.

    Haley2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was so cozy and private. While there were a lot of other cabins around, during the winter it felt like we were the only ones in the area which was great. I was concerned that a lake camp would feel a bit drafty in the cold winter days, but it was absolutely the opposite! Super warm! Thank you!

    Danny2019-12-31T00:00:00Z

  • Super clean. View of the lake from the cabin is outstanding. Watching the loons makes for slow coffee drinking in the morning.

  • This was a spectacular hidden little gem. Words and pictures, don't even begin to say or show just how wonderful it was there. My husband and I were beyond happy with our stay there. It was such a wonderful surprise to get the beautiful flowers for our anniversary. We loved the sunrises on both days that we were there and the beauty of nature and it's sounds. There was still some wonderful foliage to see. We definitely want to go back again and hopefully bring another couple with us. And we definitely highly recommend this place to any and everyone, especially if you are looking for a wonderful place for a getaway.

    Kim2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Access to lake and the view is awesome. We enjoyed the outdoor fireplace. Stay was made comfortable with the heater.

  • Lovely home by the water! Michael and Karen are outstanding hosts! They are very thoughtful - my husband and I booked for the weekend for a little getaway and they left us a bottle of Prosecco, which we appreciated. In addition, since the water is not potable, they had left us a gallon of fresh water. The cabin itself is beautiful, very well decorated and cozy. Perfect for relaxing and taking time away from the noise of everyday city life. My husband and I love birds, and it was wonderful to find a pair of binoculars since we forgot ours at home. We got to see a couple of loons and a bald eagle! We had a wonderful time and strongly recommend Michael and Karen’s cabin!

  • This cabin is the quintessential “cabin on the lake.” The decor is rustic but with all the modern comforts of home. The views are spectacular. It is the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway!

A rustic eco-retreat in the woods, our cabin runs on renewable energy and is made of reclaimed materials. On the shores of peaceful, pristine Fahi Pond, it's perfect for kayaking, fishing, swimming, and bird-watching. Take our kayaks in the morning to catch moose feeding nearby, or hike and pick wild berries in the surrounding woods. Trails on our property are perfect for ATVing, snowmobiling, or XC skiing! Another favorite activity is reading/relaxing by the pond or campfire.
Our cabin is a work in PROGRESS! It is a labor of love, and you will see projects in progress both inside and out. It is also a quirky and unique space created out of reclaimed materials. For example, look for the antique truck wheels which join the joists and beams; and the wood, windows, cabinets, and doors which were saved from landfills. Also know that it is comfortable but rustic. It is in the woods, so expect bugs, some dust, etc. Outdoor enthusiasts will love it, but it's not for everyone!
We are on a quiet pond surrounded by woods. It is very remote, and peaceful. Often, if you are boating, fishing, or sitting on the dock, you will be the ONLY person in sight! The only sounds at night are likely to be the loons and owls. Hiking, XC skiing, snowmobile, and ATV trails abound. There is a country story and gas station nearby (about 8 minutes drive) called Pinkham"s which carries all the basics. There are some fun things to do nearby such as: whitewater rafting in The Forks, and viewing ancient petroglyphs on the Kennebec River. In nearby Waterville, we recommend the Colby College Art Museum and Railroad Square Cinema, home of the Maine International Film Festival.
  • We absolutely loved our stay! The setting was so serene, and it was great to get to unplug from the outside world for a bit (but still have Wifi if needed!). The cabin is beautiful & unique, a true labor of love, even if its still in progress in a few spots. We loved the stars at night, fishing & watching sunrise/sunsets from the dock, and how even just sitting in the living room could feel like outside with all the giant windows overlooking the woods and water. So perfect! We are thankful we had the opportunity to stay here! Can't wait to start planning our next trip up :)

    Dominique2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to relax and unwind! H’s home was very clean, spacious & included lots of extra essentials.

    Pam2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Home was a wonderful retreat from a the business of life. The pond was beautiful with clean crisp water and we enjoyed many a stunning sunset. We fished, swam, played games cooked and had a relaxing time. Our dog probably had the best week of his life. We arrived on a Monday and only saw two people in the area until Thursday evening when a couple more folks arrived on the pond. The fruit trees were a bonus and Heidi encourage us to bring peaches home. The layout of the house works great.

    Johanna2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a spacious, comfy place on a quiet pond this is it. There were 8 of us and we all slept comfortably. The house is funky and a work in progress but we understood that and we totally comfortable with it. We will go back. It is a great place!

    Diana2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was exactly as described and more. The great room where the gorgeous lake views are to be enjoyed from every angle is spacious. The haunting call of the loons can be heard at all hours of the day and night. There were blueberry bushes on the trails. There were even more amenities than were listed in the description (e.g. a TV) We enjoyed every minute of our stay and hope to return someday.

    Susanne2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truely special place. The *cabin* is very spacious and roomy. Kitchen and house are well equipped with anything neccessary and then some. It is much nicer then the pictures could convey. Its a masterpiece of ressource effective operation, although is is off-grid, everything is fully operational and all convenient appliences are there making for a super nice stay. The location is extremely quiet and serene, the lake just lovely, one sees hardly anyone all day. Though the pond/cabin itself is nicely secluded, all neccessary shopping / restaurants ect are within a short 10-15 drive. We would like to very much recommend this place for anyone looking for peace and tranquility, eco-friendly vacation or interested to get a look at a masterpiece of love of nature combined with amazing engineering.

    Susanne&Jay2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great unique home set on very private land right on the pond. The house had many features inside and out to see and it’s clear the house shares some great memories. The pond was quiet but with lots of fishing and wildlife. The host was very helpful and easy to work with. Would absolutely go back!

    Mackenzie2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely and peaceful stay. It is amazing to live completely off-the-grid with no sacrifices! It was beautiful in the woods. We enjoyed watching some woodpeckers who has nested just off the lounge (those parents spent every waking hour feeding those babies!). And the fireflies in the woods were magical to watch at night. The king bed was very comfortable, and although there isn’t a sink in the upstairs bathroom, you can wash your hands at the bath easily enough.

This "camp" is located on Wyman Lake directly off Rt. 201, approximately 8 minutes north of Bingham. A large 1 bedroom 2 bath home boasting a large shoreline. I am currently taking extra precautions during the coronavirus. For all bookings, I will block the 3 days before and after your stay. This way I can give the rental 60+ hours before I enter to clean and also so I can guarantee that I am the only person inside the rental 72+ hours prior to your check in.
Please note we cannot provide internet at this location. Check with your cellphone carrier if wifi is a necessity before booking. We do have dish TV. This is a pet friendly home but in an attempt to keep the cleaning fee affordable for all guests, only one dog is included in the cleaning fee. Up to 2 dogs are allowed at the rental, an additional $20 fee will be charged for a second dog. I provide extra sheets to put on any furniture your dog uses. If your dog sleeps in the upstairs bed and it is left covered in hair, I will add a $10 laundering fee. If the dog damages the quilt, it will be a $30 replacement fee. The rental is hard wood floors. I ask that you do not leave pets home alone outside of a crate.

  • Cozy chalet that is really comfortable for the price

  • Very clean and cozy. Quiet and private. Lots of wildlife and very close to snowmobile trail for riding or just walking. Lori is super accommodating!

    Kate2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to escape! Way far out in the woods, very quiet, and plenty of wildlife. Lori was a great host and responded very quickly. Place was well decorated to give it a cabin in the woods vibe. We were sort of snowed in one of the mornings and the neighbor had come by and plowed the snow and made sure we were able to get out. Very friendly. Would totally recommend this place to anyone trying to escape to a quiet place in the woods.

    Paul2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lori was great, she responded very promptly even though she was on vacation herself. She has the place set up great and very cozy. We loved this place! We stayed here while enjoying some time at Sugarloaf. It’s about 40 minutes to get there, not bad considering we usually drive 3 hours to Sunday River. The views you get just driving around are beautiful! And there was so many deer behind the chalet, we (dogs included) loved watching them. This place was very clean and a little bigger than expected. We have two larger dogs and they were a little nervous of the steep stairs to go to bed at night but they figured it out. There is board games and movies for a cold day or mellow night. We definitely want to rent snowmobiles up there next time, there are tons of trails super close by. Didn’t do to much exploring on foot, it “felt like” -22 one day so a little too cold for us/dogs. But the chalet kept us warm! Everything was plowed so we never had any trouble with that and didn’t need 4wheel drive at all. Had a great time, and would definitely stay here again! It was so quiet and peaceful! Would absolutely recommend!

    Kerin2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin itself was really nice and exactly what I was looking for when checking Maine off my bucketlist. The cabin is a nice A-frame style place that has a real cabin feel. The wood-burner stove offered intense heat to help dry off our gear before the next day of riding. There is also a heating unit in the cabin that will provide enough heat to make you sweat (we did that accidentally). The location offers nice touches of the country/backwoods to make you feel at home. After staying in the place, I think you could easily and comfortably fit 5 adult males in the cabin and have room to spare. Though, there is only 1 full bathroom in the cabin so visitors should be mindful of that. The road was easy to find and easy to get up, even in the snow. We did endure some ice, rain, snow and everything else during our stay, so conditions ended up questionable at times. The main road you take to get up to the road the cabin is on is in rough shape, so beware of the potholes. We drove to Sugarloaf's base lodge 3 days in a row and all of which took 40+ minutes. I am not sure if a road was closed or what, but 20-25 minutes was about the time to get into town (Kingsfield) for gas or groceries. Though wifi was not in the cabin, there was a good Verizon signal that didn't leave off totally off-grid. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone needing a backwoods getaway or anyone doing riding at Sugarloaf.

SNOWMOBILERS WELCOME! The Hideaway is located in a remote and sparsely populated rural area. Excellent hunting, boating , mountain biking, skiing and snowmobiling are found nearby. It features a fully equipped kitchen, three bedrooms, an all season sun porch with wood stove and. futon, a washer dryer and ample parking. Owners live nearby and make use of a nearby garage.
At this time there is no cable or satellite TV or Internet. There is a TV equipped with DVD player. There is a good Verizon signal for hot spotting and phone use.
Although halfway between Quebec city and Boston the Hideaway is in a distinctly rural area. There is a large working dairy farm nearby and great unbroken maine woods commences just a few miles to the north. Deer, turkeys and dirt roads abound. 9 miles to the south lies Skowhegan, the county seat.
  • Beautiful AirBnb with lots of space! It is a cozy place to stay and is about an hour 10 minute drive to Sugarloaf. I loved the wood stove and comfortable beds!

  • We'd go back to John's place in a heartbeat. We hung out at John's in the evening and snowboarded Sugarloaf during the day. I'd highly recommend staying there as it's most-of-the-way to Sugarloaf from Boston. The drive is a little over an hour to the mountain when the roads are snowy. The Hideaway is really a great value; pretty country around there, super peaceful. There's plenty of sleeping space and a good kitchen with coffee. His own paintings are hanging throughout the place which really gives it a personal touch (he's actually quite good!). John made sure to stoke up the wood stove before we got there which was great. At one point we accidentally blew a fuse and John came by right away to help us out. He lives across the street so is super available if you need anything. There's is heat besides the wood stove that works really well, so you don't have to worry about keeping the fire going, though I would highly recommend it!

The walls are pine, it has wall to wall red indoor / outdoor carpeting. There is a recliner and a sofa bed that sleeps two. There are ceiling lights with fans . It is lake front property.
What makes my space unique is it offers a spectacular view of nature which gives you a sense of serenity, has the all the amenities of modern living in a rustic setting and has the feel of a large living area in a compact living area.
The neighborhood is rustic and very quiet. There are woods with a variety of wildlife such as rabbits, deer, moose, skunks, raccoons, bears, porcupines and fisher cats. For people who like to fish the lake has bass, trout and perch. There are loons, ducks, geese, cranes and herons on and around the lake. If you are lucky you will see the eagles dive for food.
  • We had a wonderful time staying at Meg's! Her place was a convenient location for our trip and it has a beautiful view at sunrise and sunset. We would absolutely recommend staying at Meg's place!

  • Beautiful setting. Small cottage that offers a good night sleep. It is as described. If traveling with elder, there are no direct steps to backside where the apartment is. I slipped going down the uneven ground. If traveling with a baseball fan, the tv received a very weak signal and couldn’t watch it. Luckily the internet was strong enough for her to logon with her ipad. If you have ATT, you will have no service at the property. Overall though, a 5 star stay.

  • Lovely private spot. Comfy beds, spacious living room, quiet location, gorgeous view. Coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, dishes, utensils, refrigerator, grill, etc. Folks who stay need to realize northern Maine has spotty cell service. But the WiFi worked quite well. Highly recommend and would stay again.

  • The location was amazing, just tucked off the water with beautiful views inside the camp and out. Ample parking. Event center upstairs of garage for air hockey, foosball and just relaxing with guests was the highlight of the trip. Cannot beat this venue in terms of the total package, venture here, disappear and enjoy the calm/quiet/beauty this location has to offer.

  • This place offered the perfect lake vacation. The home itself was so clean, beautifully decorated and in a great location. It was a very comfortable place for my family. It was a great launching point for so many fun activities, although the memories we made spending the days at the home were some of our favorite. Reggie and Pearl made us feel like part of the family and were so easy to communicate with. We can’t wait to go back.

  • Perfect location for fun in the sun with your family and friends. I was in town for a wedding and was so happy with my decision to stay here. Reggie and Pearl were the perfect hosts and provided great tips for local shopping, etc.. Will definitely be back!! Thanks again!!

  • This place is amazing!! All the little touches from the yard maintenance to the inside decor made it feel so homey and comfortable. The pond is beautiful and we loved having the dock to hang out on. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Great place! On a quiet road on the water. The home owner was great and provided really good communication and advice for the local area. The home was perfect for me and my family. The kids loved our time there and have already asked to return. Thank you for the wonderful time and memories. Definitely recommend anyone looking to stay in the area, to stay at this home!

This small, quaint cabin brings you back to the basics. Not fancy or pretentious, but far more comfy than camping on a cold ground. You'll have what you need, a warm bed, private full bathroom, small fridge, microwave, use of gas grill, campfire pit and all amenities of the sporting camp Pine Grove Lodge.
While here, get outdoors and look for moose and other wildlife, hike to Houston Brook Falls (1/4 mile,) canoe/kayak or use the beach at beautiful Wyman Lake (1 mile,) and relax by your own campfire or visit the communal fire to get to know other guests. Maine Guides are available with services like fishing, fly fishing lessons, canoeing/kayaking, ATVing, private Wyman Lake cruises on a large pontoon boat, and backcountry Jeep 4X4 excursions!
This is a rural area, called Pleasant Ridge Plantation, 4 miles from town, on the edge of complete wilderness but still on pavement. An area rich with logging and sporting camp history, it is a very safe place to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery while walking, biking, boating, or even getting into the deep woods on a guided Jeep tour. The town of Bingham has a well-stocked grocery store, Dollar General, 3 gas stations, and a few eatery choices.

Guest suite with private bath in classic Maine farmhouse. Spacious loft room with your own fireplace to take off the chill. Great for weekend skiers or adventure enthusiasts looking for a home base for exploring Western Maine. In the summer months our property is a working farm and you are welcome to explore all that we have going on here! You have to walk through a shared kitchen and dining room to reach your suite.
This room is on the second floor of an older updated farmhouse. Expect classic features like low ceilings and narrow stairwells but charming details such as porcelain bathroom features and an original slate sink in our kitchen. The bathroom is private for your use during your stay and is located on the 1st floor, right at the bottom of the stairs leading to the loft. The room also includes a television. Guests are welcome to bring their own gaming or streaming devices or login to their own account on our guest Roku.
We are one mile from downtown Farmington, a quaint town in Western Maine home to many independant shops, artisan galleries, and a local college. We have a great local ski slope, Titcomb Mountain, which is a great community ski area and perfect for learing to ski. About 40 minutes North is Sugarloaf ski resort as well as lots of hiking and biking trails.
  • Nice, quiet farmhouse. The room is very spacious and comfortable. Nice place to get away.

  • Stayed at Erica’s place for a few nights and had a very pleasant stay. Plenty of privacy as the house is basically split into two parts. I used the house as a base for skiing Sunday River/Sugarloaf and for some snowmobiling. The TV was nice to have to sit back and enjoy a movie at the end of a long day. Kitchen and dining room always available for coffee/tea and for cooking your own food if needed. Erica was extremely hospitable and nice to talk to. Can’t beat the friendly cat as well, who is always looking for a warm body to cuddle with. Great spot!

    Mike2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Super great stay perfectly located around the mountains and farming spots with a quaint down town. Their home was so adorable. Entire loft to yourself. They go by a pick up after yourself policy that I wish I knew before hand. Aside from that it was peaceful and beautiful and their amenities were fabulous. Amazing book collection and games

    Miranda2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place! Great hosts! Really good-hearted people :) Erica and Dave went out of their way to help me- even coming to my friend’s rescue to tow him out of a snow bank when he was stuck!

    Chelsea2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for a great place to stay and your thoughtfulness and kindness! We had a really nice time skiing at Titcomb Mountain AND appreciate you shoveling the 6-7 inches of snow powdah to our truck! Kevin, Rena and Addison

This 3 bedroom 4 season cottage is located right on Embden Lake with breathtaking views of the lake and mountains. Camp contains additional sleeping with the futon couch and loft above the living room. Fully stocked with everything you'll need to feel at home. Included in the camp rental are full use of 4 kayaks with paddles and life jackets.
  • Great place right on the lake. The cottage we were in was set back a bit from parking with no snow cleared path to it but I didn’t mind at all; I was prepared for a Maine winter stay. Other than that it was a great place, nice n cozy with all the amenities we needed. I will absolutely stay here again, hopefully next will be a summer trip!

  • Lakefront wonderful. Here in September and saw very few people. Lovely stay. All necessities are here and the cottage is user friendly. We rented a boat from Maine Boat Rental and they delivered it right to the lake. Our cottage has a great boat dock . Also owner supplied kayak! Christina helpful and prompt!

  • Our family of 4 had a wonderful stay! It was perfect-right near the water. Such a plus to have access to kayaks and life jackets! We loved swimming in the water, hiking around the area, and enjoying the beautiful fire pit at night. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. Definitely want to make this a yearly trip for our family!

Two adjoining cabins just 25 feet from beautiful Embden Lake. It is a great way to share a vacation with friends or family, maintain some privacy and avoid having to pay full price for two separate cabins. The cabins are connected by adjoining door.
The cabins are mirror images of each other, but one cabin has an open deck with picnic table and the other has a great screened porch with sofa, chairs and a large picnic table - bonus room! Each cabin has two bedrooms and a loft. The bedrooms have one double bed and three queens. The lofts have three double beds and a futon. Each cabin has a fully-equipped kitchen, living room and bathroom. Both cabins are comfortably furnished in traditional Maine camp decor. Linens and towels are provided at no extra charge.
Our cabins are located in a cottage community with a common swimming area with swim dock and small sandy beach for easy access. Boat slips are also available. Our cabins have direct lake access via stone steps and a private campfire area. We have one Webber grill-charcoal. The price quoted is for both cabins together by the week, Saturday to Saturday. The three night minimum is for shoulder months. We rent by the week June- August but shorter stays will be considered if possible. Please ask! If only one cabin is required we can work that out if available. We offer a 10% to returning guests!
  • This cabin was very well appointed... it had everything we needed for cooking. It was also absolutely perfect for the multi generations we had staying in Embden for a family wedding. I would definitely recommend a stay on Embden Pond

    Lisa2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's place is great. Super cozy (but quite spacious - but still with that cabin/cozy feel) and comfortable. There were eight of us, and we had plenty of room. The cabin is waterfront, and the lake (yeah - it's technically a "pond" because it's spring-fed but it's BIG) is right there. You do need to carefully climb down a few rocks to get to the water, and pool/beach shoes are helpful because of the rocks, but the water is amazing. We highly recommend taking floats! We loved eating dinner on the large picnic table on the screened-in porch, replete with candles, lanterns and string lights. And we enjoyed a beautiful evening under the stars around the firepit. Lisa was quick to respond and give help/suggestions. She was delightful to work with. We had a great week!

    Susan2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa’s place was perfect for a relaxing getaway. Communication was great, the lake was beautiful and the local tips were super helpful!

    Joe2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa’s place is a wonderful camp, rustic and cozy. My kids loved the loft and the lake was so crystal clear. We had such a relaxing family time. Lisa was very quick to answer when we had questions and minor issues. The only negative I would say is the common area really needs a safer playground. The playground is falling down, it would be nice if they had a set of swings, maybe everyone could pitch in and help with it. That’s the only thing that needed a little tlc. Overall it was a wonderful vacation and the cabin exceeded my expectations. A wonderful trip in the books!

    Kayla2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's double cabin was the perfect location for my family and I to stay this past weekend as we were in the area for our cousin's wedding. Staying in the area allowed us the availability to help with pre-wedding prep without needing to stay with family and feel like we were in the way while getting ready for the festivities. We had 7 adults and 2 children and never felt crowded. With 4 bedrooms and the 2 loft spaces, there were plenty of beds. We enjoyed the screened in porch and playing games on the picnic table. Watching the sunrise over the pond was beautiful. Lisa was very accommodating and always available by text if there were any questions. If we plan another extended trip in the area with all of us, we would be interested in checking Lisa's listing. We were very happy with the cabin and our stay.

    Jenn2018-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • It's a beautiful location, right on the water, as pictured. Our favorite spot was the screened in porch with the picnic table, perfect for our group of 9 to all sit together and eat. It's an association where the docks are shared, the other neighbors are very friendly. You can swim right in front of the cabin, it's a tiny bit rocky to climb down, but once you get to the water it's clear and sandy! Right next door is an entry to the lake that is rocky also, but more like steps, we launched kayaks from there. The swimming dock is a very short walk away. The adjoining cabin worked really well for three families, when we had some kids down for naps during the day we were able to keep them in a quiet space, the two kitchens and two fridges was perfect with that many people. The beds were ultra comfortable! We took Lisa's suggestion and went to Houston Brook Falls, it was a nice short hike and worth going! Lisa was very flexible with our in and out times. If you go you'll have a great time!

  • Beautiful location, fun cabins, great for a large family gathering and a fantastic value.

    Adrienne Catherine2018-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This double cabin was just as described and a great place for 2 families to stay. We had 2 families - one with 2 kids and one with 3 kids and it was great for everyone. The beach was perfect for the kids to play at, though slightly rocky but they didn't seem to care. We'd definitely come back!

This beautiful home is only 15 minutes from I95. The location has access to recreational trails for snowshoeing, ATVs and snowmobiles. The large driveway allows you to leave your trailers while you access the trails from across the street. In July, the town hosts the best fireworks display in the state over the lake as part of their annual summer festival. The lake also has a great variety of fresh water fish. This is a great quiet location for a nice relaxing vacation.
There is a gas station less than 3 miles away as well as an amazing country convenience store with amazing food and all of your every day needs with friendly and helpful staff.
  • This cabin is a gem. In a lovely town, this cabin is located close enough to larger city centers but far enough away to really enjoy the feel of being out in the woods with nature. The host is a wonderfully caring person that strives to make the experience memorable for everyone. The cabin immerses you in the feeling of wilderness while providing all of the comforts of a relaxing retreat. Grab a hot chocolate or a fishing pole and enjoy the best of Maine.

    Elijah2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Samantha’s farm (Runamuck Acres) is the perfect get away. Particularly for people on a budget! It has everything you need and nothing you don’t. The meals she provides are AMAZING. Her pets are the friendliest and they will keep you company if you let them. The drive to sugarloaf was only 34 minutes and you pass a grocery store, a restaurant and a pizza place on the way so you can bring dinner home to cook, eat or eat out. Whichever you feel! This setting truly makes you feel like you are supporting the local economy as well as someone’s family and small business. I highly recommend.

Welcome to Maine and lake life! This cozy little cabin is a stones throw away from the waters edge. Enjoy the deck and dock as you watch the loons, bald eagles and other local wildlife. Our guests have access to our kayaks and canoe if you want to get off the shore and out into the water. The pond is great for swimming and perfect for small children. Take a little time for yourself and enjoy the peace and serenity of the pond. Check out our larger main Lodge https://abnb.me/WG8ppGX6vY
About an hour and a half from Portland and Acadia National Park, this tiny cabin puts you close enough to it all at an extremely reasonable price point! Where else can you get enough room to sleep 4-6 people (6 if you have kids) people that is lake front with access to kayaks, canoe, BBQ and a fire pit at this price?!? Enjoy the serenity of the waters edge where you will hear the welcoming call of your neighbors- the loons and Bald Eagles.
Easy access to nearby Pittsfield, Skowhegan or Newport for shopping and dining. Access to Interstate 95 is just minutes away.
  • I would give 10 stars. Jamie and Sam, the cozy cabin and it’s location far exceeded my expectations. Sam and Jamie are very friendly, helpful and generous (!!!), yet respected privacy and space. I couldn’t recommend this sweet, rustic cabin and hosts more.

    Sarah2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little cabin with everything and more!!! Beautiful views of the lake peaceful atmosphere and a warm cabin for those chili October nights. Sam was absolutely great a text away but we got all the privacy we could ask for even though the main house is a few steps away. The cabin was spotless, comfy and plenty of room. We were able to cook our dinner in the BBQ and our breakfast in the little oven. A good size refrigerator in the cabin made it a lot easier then using a cooler. I was very hesitant of the outside shower for those chili October nights but it was the best thing ever!!! We did not use the kayaks but Sam made sure we knew there were available. We will definitely return during the summer so we can make a better use of the lake. Thank you for having us.

    Anastasia2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Sam’s place. We spent most of our trip at Acadia, but the cabin is nearby other nature sights, plus there were kayaks we could have used. The heater kept us warm when we were worried we might get cold. Sam and Jamie were kind and communicative and we couldn’t have asked for more responsive and attentive hosts! This cabin felt spacious despite the fact that we had four people there, and it’s a great value. We would certainly return.

    Ashley2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sam's place was exactly as described but even more comfortable and enjoyable than I expected!

    Elizabeth2019-10-14T00:00:00Z

All are welcome! This place has a lot of history, and I love to share what I know with guests. Pictures, and the stories that go with them are among guest favorites.
Paved sidewalks make daily strolls ever so enjoyable. Lots of walkers in this area, so be prepared for friendly conversation.
  • I visited alone at night before going to sugarloaf to snowboard. Diane was a wonderful host with a smiling warm welcome and very thorough in her hospitality. The neighborhood is right off the main road in town and quiet/ safe. Her house has lots of space and is very homey, typical New England style. It is a little cold at night but not bad with blankets. I woke up to the amazing smell of pancakes which were wheat, blueberry and very yummy! Coffee and tea also provided. Great place to stay if skiing at Sugarloaf, not a bad drive between. Helpful and clear house info provided and a whole pamphlet Diane has made with lots of info about what the area has to offer! Wifi is good in the rooms (I was able to stream without a problem). I highly recommend staying with Diane! :)

  • Breakfast was delicious and the bathtub was heavenly and exceeded all expectations, hopes and dreams. I slept like a rock! Very hard to get out of bed in the morning! The kitties were fun and entertaining and Diane’s hospitality and conversation were 2nd to none.

  • Such a sweet and cute old lady. Loves to chat but respectful of your space

  • The place was easy to find. The room was clean and comfortable. A real feel of an old-style home makes it even more unique. There's a cute cat to welcome you who is really social. :) Diane is a perfect host and those Pancakes in the morning are just the things you want on a cold morning. Thanks Diane. Would surely stay here again !!

  • Diane was the best host you could ask for. Helpful and friendly. Respectful of privacy but there to chat about photography and sightseeing when I was free. Delicious pancakes. And her home was absolute lovely. So much attention to detail in the decor!

  • We, the whole group really loved the place. The house was really nice and clean with a whole lot of collectibles. Diane was really warm to welcome us in. We did rafting with the Northern Outdoors at the Kennebec River and it’s just 20 mins away from her place. Have a warm stay at The Bakers House. And don’t miss her pan cakes with for the morning breakfast.

  • I stayed with Diane for 12 weeks and let me tell you, this is a great place to stay. She is a wonderful host. Her house is incredibly clean, she is incredibly awesome to be around. She will happily show you the area if you are interested, will play scrabble with you, and makes wonderful breakfast. I can't recommend her or her home enough. She was always incredibly respectful of space and has a beautiful home to lounge around in or watch the storms on the deck. Thank you for such an amazing summer Diane and I will be staying here whenever I am back in the area.

  • Jeff accommodated me last minute as I was trying to extend a Maine trip in Mid January to take advantage of some weekend snow in the forecast and first snowmobile trip of the season. There is room for a few trucks and trailers, and You can snowmobile right out the back yard onto the porter lake, and then access trails from an access trail at the very northern tip of the lake - which ultimately leads to ITS-84. Stores with gas for sleds are accessible a few miles from the house via the trails and decently marked. Some other trails are accessible very close to the house to I learned without having to go on Lake. House is great, clean, and bright and we will be back.. thx!

  • Location! Amazing location! Situated in a perfect spot on a peaceful lake. We were able to watch the sunrise over the mountains in the AM and watch it set later in the day along the far side of the lake. Having all the channels known to man with a huge TV entertained us once the sun had set. November was perfect for a bonfire down by the dock. We had a little company- two loons and one bald eagle. Our two dogs loved it- one enjoyed the snow more than the other. Overall, great spot. Highly recommended!

  • Fantastic property! We couldn’t have asked for a better location for our stay. The property is well maintained and the camp stocked with all the necessities (especially the kitchen!). We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to the area :)

    Kari2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff’s place is a new, clean, spacious home on the lake with 180° views from the back porch/kitchen/dining area that should be gorgeous any time of the year. We were there in the winter for some skiing at Sugarloaf but imagine it would be equally gorgeous in the Summer!

Riverside condo minutes to Sugarloaf! One-bedroom condo just a few miles from Sugarloaf and the Outdoor Center. Just steps from trails for hiking, mountain biking, and skiing. Look out over the river while you grill on the back patio and enjoy a Maine beer! Also next to a popular restaurant and bar. One note- the cell reception in Carrabassett Valley is not good. That makes it a great place to get away from it all, but not a good place if you need to make important phone calls!!
  • We were headed up north to enjoy a weekend of skiing at Sugarloaf. The location was great and just 10 minutes away. Easy access to the mountain just turning right out of the driveway and left onto the access road. Aubreys place was easy to access, clean and comfortable. She even left a surprise for us when we got there. This place was perfect for us to ski all day, come back take a quick nap and be ready for dinner and some drinks after. Aubrey directed us to some local establishments that were pleasant and had amazing food. We really liked The Rack BBQ.

    Albert2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • It was very comfortable, everything I needed and easy proximity to the mountain.

    Caroline2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The condo is in a great spot to access Sugarloaf and the surrounding restaurants and activities. It was very clean, cozy, and perfect to come back to after long days of skiing. Audrey was a very thoughtful host, as well. We had a really lovely weekend in Carrabassett Valley

    Sarah2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Audrey's place was exactly as described. Really great and easy location for skiing at Sugarloaf and enjoying the Xcountry and hiking Trails. A real bonus to be next to the great restaurant Tufulios. The condo is simply and nicely furnished and sparkling clean. It was quiet and cozy and warm and plenty of space for two people. Check-in and check-out are super easy, and Audrey responded almost instantly whenever I had a question. Great value. We'll come again.

    Henrietta2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Audrey was quick to respond to all of my texts and messages. She had thoughtful touches that made us feel welcome. The location of her apt is perfect for all year around. We stayed here in the winter and it was about 15 mins away from sugarloaf skiing. We also got our skis tuned up at Happy Tunes which is across the parking lot. I suggest bringing food since Audrey has a full kitchen with a large fridge. She also has an awesome grill. The set up was cozy and warm. I highly recommend her place and having Audrey as a host.
