Just booked in Edisto Island

Welcome to the strange nexus of the universe where you can live tiny and large at the same time! We can't wait to host you. Please read our profile and take note of the house rules, then let us know if you have any questions!
Our tiny home tries really hard to be as wonderful as the cedar tree it sits next to. It even dressed itself in fancy cedar siding and lathered itself with tung oil. And although its efforts may have failed (it's hard to top mother nature), a definite theme has been born. Runner-up names included Hail Cedar! and 20,000 Leagues Beneath the Cedar. Amenities: - Two cruiser bicycles - Two beach chairs, beach towels, bag, and small cooler - Two hammocks - Outdoor patio with rocking chair and bench - Outdoor shower - Unique board games designed for two-person play - Bluetooth speaker - White noise maker - Small book collection The bicycles are especially great, because there are a few restaurants and a music venue within a leisurely five minute ride. More on that later. Now, onto the house: It's tiny! But it doesn't feel that way. The light color of the bamboo flooring, the many windows and the high ceilings help to open it up. The loft holds a queen-sized mattress, which sits low to the floor on tatami mats. There is a full bath with a rain-down shower, air vent, and cloth curtain door. There is a fully functional kitchen, with gas stove and microwave. There is a desk/table and a futon couch that opens to sleep an (additional) adult or two young children (who are very welcome). Amenities for daily living abound: wi-fi; soaps, towels & bed linens; cookware; electrical kettle; coffee maker and french press; a selection of teas and coffee; wine glasses and a wine opener, etc. If you are in need of anything, just ask!
If you're driving at the right time, you can be downtown in less than ten minutes or on Folly Beach in fifteen. Or you can easily jump to John's Island, where you can check out the Angel Oak or go wake boarding and play disc golf on Whitney Lakes. When you decide to come back, the perfect location awaits: relaxing and peaceful, with great venues just a walk or bike ride away. We're very happy to live where we do. The neighborhood, Riverland Terrace, is full of charm and wonderful people. Funky 1950's bungalows are sprinkled throughout. All who live here seem to do so with joy. Joggers, dog walkers, and families abound. There is a golf course, a community garden, and beautiful Wappoo Drive, lined with a tunnel of live oaks. There is a children's park and boat landing. And there is, within a three minute bike ride or short walk, some really great businesses: an indie movie theater (The Terrace Theatre), great restaurants (Zia's Taqueria, Crust, Maybank Public House, & The Lot), and a larger-sized music venue (The Pour House). There is also a farmer's market at the Pour House on Sundays, 11am-3pm. This is not to be missed, with live music and drinks and local crafts. You can cruise there via the bicycles if you like.
  • Brian was an amazing host! Great recommendations, very friendly, and the tiny house is even cuter in person!

  • Everything was exactly as described. The space was inviting, modern and clean.

    Maisha2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great and unique place to stay to experience Charleston! Although outside the city proper, the house is within easy driving and Uber-ing distance from downtown. Brian and Ava are very friendly and had excellent suggestions for places to eat and things to see. We will definitely be back!

  • Brian’s place was very clean and cozy. Great and safe location to see all that Charleston has to offer!

    Nicolle2017-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Brian is an amazing host. Our stay in the Tiny House was our favorite part of Charleston. He went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed and provided some great advice. Would highly recommend this listing to anyone. Hope we can get back ourselves soon.

    Kathleen2016-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Brian's really friendly and a good communicator. Check in was easy. Bed was comfortable and the tiny house really feels like a quality small house - not like a trailer at all. It has its own parking and fenced yard to the side of Brian's house making it feel totally independent and private. Access to bikes and hammock were an added bonus. Easy drive into downtown.

    Laura2017-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Brian was incredible and super helpful. The tiny house far exceeded our expectations - you could tell he put a lot of hard work into making it the most perfect rental. From the herb garden to the modern decor and local restaurant suggestions from Brian, we had everything we needed and more to feel welcome and comfortable. My wife and I loved riding the bicycles Brian keeps for guests down the oak-lined streets to the boat landing and all throughout the quiet neighborhood. Just a 10 minute drive from downtown Charleston and 20 minute drive to Folly Beach, we couldn't have asked for a more convenient location and awesome, sustainable experience. We're already planning our next trip!

    Taylor2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Brian was very accommodating and made us feel like we were right at home. We loved our stay in the little house!

Great location, laid back and hands- off hosts, and completely private and detached garage apartment. Walk to dozens of shops, restaurants and bars, and just a 3 mile drive or $8 Uber ride to historic King Street. About 10 miles to all 3 beaches. Park right outside your apartment!
This is a cool, clean, modern detached garage apartment in Charleston's coolest neighborhood- Avondale. Avondale has been named coolest neighborhood 3 years running by Charleston City Paper, and it's easy to see why. Walk or bike to over a dozen pubs, restaurants, shops, salons, yoga studios, etc... including Pearlz, Al di la, Triangle, The Glass Onion, Mex 1, Gene's Haufbrau, Voodoo, and The Roost, (to name a few) all just a block or so away from the apartment. We are only 3 miles to the heart of historic downtown Charleston, and only 20 minutes to Folly, Sullivan's or Isle of Palms. We are also only a few blocks from the West Ashley greenway- a local biking/walking/running path that cuts through the city. It's a great way to get your exercise in, or to get over to South Windemere shopping center to do a little eating at Med Bistro or shopping at Half Moon Outfitters. The apartment is a true studio- with no walls separating living areas, but it's charming and clean, and you can't beat the location. Fully equipped kitchen as well. This IS NOT downtown Charleston- it is just over the drawbridge from the peninsula. You will have access to beach chairs, a beach Umbrella and a cooler if you would like. Anything else, just ask and we will try to accommodate ! We try to meet all guests face to face upon check in if possible, but occasionally leave a key under the mat if we aren't going to be around. Other than that- we don't interact with guests much unless we see each other coming and going in the driveway. Feel free to approach us with questions, but we understand how guests prefer privacy on vacation, and we try to respect this. A car is the best way to get downtown- even though it's only a few miles a way there is no bike lane on the Ashley River bridge- so unless you are an experienced bike rider - I would drive- but once you are downtown, walking or biking is the best way to see everything. Closer to home, here in Avondale, almost everything is within walking or biking distance, and it's easy to get around that way. An uber ride downtown is $8-$10.Taxis are fairly inexpensive as well, and there is a city bus that stops a block away, but Charleston isn't known for its public transit, so I can't vouch for it. There are also water taxis that can take you to Mount Pleasant and back! There is a tall set of stairs leading up to the apartment and the shower is pretty small.
Avondale is a trendy community just outside the Charleston peninsula- about 3 miles to the heart of the Historic District. It is comprised of several modest but eclectic neighborhoods surrounding a thriving bar & restaurant scene. This is not a tourist spot so you will likely be the only tourists there! Walk to dinner, breakfast, yoga, groceries, thrift stores- you name it.
  • This quaint, beautifully decorated apartment was perfect for my birthday celebration. We are from Charleston but wanted to stay closer in town. We love the Avondale area and enjoyed s bike ride on the bike trails and lunch. Uber picked us up for dinner downtown and back home with a bottle of wine left for us chilling in the frig . What a nice way to end my birthday celebration. Perfect, perfect, perfect!!! We will be back !!!

  • Brett came out to meet us once we arrived and offered great suggestions for things to do and places to eat. Provided plenty of towels and toiletries in the apartment. The place was very cozy with plenty of seating and a nice kitchen although we didn't use it as we went downtown for meals. Appreciated free wifi but was spotty at times. Very close to downtown ~10-15 minutes to most of the restaurants we went to. Great place to stay for our short trip and would definitely stay here again.

    John2016-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place was just as advertised, had a great time checking out the local establishments.

    Mike2014-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Brett and Shannon were excellent airbnb hosts. Happy to help, but not intrusive! The garage apartment was very clean and had everything we needed, with plenty of space. We walked to nearby restaurants and coffee shop - very convenient!

    Shannon2016-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Brett and Shannon's place in Charleston was really great. The location, as they describe, is in one of the coolest places in Charleston, and is super close to all of the historic stuff downtown (it's even fifteen or so minutes from Folly Beach). They were super great hosts, and very easy to communicate with. The studio was really clean, chock-full of cool stuff, including recommendations on great places to eat, and cool things to see. It's the perfect way to experience Charleston's southern charm, and all of the unique areas and experiences it has to offer. Would definitely recommend staying here.

    Trevor2015-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Shannon and Brett's cozy and quiet apartment. The studio was just as described, comfortable and spacious, on a quiet and safe street with plenty of private driveway parking. The neighborhood has lots of nearby restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores, and is only a few short minutes away from downtown Charleston. Shannon and Brett provided us with lots of space and privacy, but were also welcoming and helpful - we had a fantastic time and would highly recommend it to other guests!

    Svetlana2015-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very lovely apartment. Shannon came out and greeted us when we arrived and provided some great recommendations for things to do and places to eat. The apartment itself was spotless, nicely decorated and very comfortable. It's obvious that Brett and Shannon have been renting this apartment out for a while, because everything is spelled out very clearly. The neighborhood is really cute. We went to a seafood restaurant and then a wine bar in the area the first night, and they were both amazing. Downtown Charleston is only a 5-10 minute drive away. I only wish I could have stayed longer and explored more.

    Camellia2015-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was just as described--even better. Shannon and Brett created a very welcoming environment. Although we never had occasion to meet them during our stay, I would say they are warm and generous folks. It's all in the details. The place was set up to make us feel at home--there was excellent coffee and all the basics--all we had to do was shop for a few breakfast items and we were set. The space was comfortably furnished and felt quite spacious. Everything a traveler would ever need was at our fingertips, even a complementary bottle of wine. I wish every AirBnB host would be as thoughtful as Shannon and Brett. They set the standard. Thank you for making our stay in Charleston relaxing. I only wish we could have stayed longer, but we headed down to Hilton Head for a beach stay.

Welcome to our new, modern loft space with full kitchen and bath! The private apartment is surrounded by an award-winning garden that has been featured on Charleston's Spring Garden Tours. We are located in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of several restaurants/bars, the Terrace Theater and the Charleston Pour House. It's a short, scenic drive to Folly beach and only ten minutes to downtown. Our backyard chickens often roam the garden and are great entertainment for kids.
A very peaceful and relaxing space both inside and out! Get away from the clutter and the TV.
Riverland Terrace is one of the best neighborhoods in Charleston. It has beautiful oaks, views of the water, a public boat landing, several great restaurants, the Charleston Municipal golf course. It's a lovely place to explore on foot or by bike. It's a quick drive to downtown Charleston (5 miles) and Folly Beach (9 miles).
  • Dave and Beth were the most gracious hosts, and the loft is just perfect. The setting is peaceful and the garden is pristine. Their six chickens are so much fun to watch, gleefully romping around the yard. The neighborhood is charming and just a short drive to downtown Charleston in one direction, Folly Beach in the other. We used to stay in hotels downtown, but we've found the Garden Loft to be a superior option and will stay here on future trips to Charleston. Thank you, Dave and Beth, for sharing their delightful loft with us.

    Felicia2016-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • One of my favorite Airbnb stays to date! Some might say that I had unlucky timing landing the weekend of mass flooding from Hurricane Joaquin, but after my stay at the garden loft, I'd say my timing was perfect. The loft is exactly as pictured, but what you don't get from photos is the way the place feels. Incredibly charming neighborhood that is so lush it feels like you are in a jungle, chickens running about, wonderful finishes like cement floors and wood walls add a rustic modern touch that is exactly what I was looking for. Laying in the comfortable bed, reading one of the man books or magazines that were provided and listening to the rain pour down on the roof was heaven. Thank you for the coffee, tea and chocolate! There is a very thoughtful folder with everything you'll need to know about the area waiting for you. If that wasn't enough, David stopped by in the morning to give me additional recommendations because of the rain. Definitely the host/hostess with the mostess. Loved them. One thing I'll never forget was an ice cold mug and beer waiting for me it in the fridge. Arriving late in the rain and dealing with rental car hassles, how did you know I needed that? The only thing better was the morning text offering me a fresh baked muffin. Rain check? :) THANK YOU. Quit looking and book! You'll never regret it.

    Katie2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • David and Beth's place was our first Airbnb stay and it will probably be the best one we will ever stay at. Awesome place, very clean and the perfect location to get to downtown or the beach. Highly recommend staying here!!

    Austin2017-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • This little loft apartment was so awesome! We loved staying here! It was very clean and had everything you could need. The bed was great. The surroundings are just beautiful. David and Beth were absolutely great. We enjoyed talking with them. I know that we will be coming back to this place! We visit The Charleston area often! This one is a keeper! Thanks again for everything!

    Lisa2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • I love Airbnb and I loved this specific Airbnb. David and his wife, Beth were super kind. Wonderful hosts and made us feel comfortable being there. The place is exactly how it's described and is clean! It's also such a lovely minimalist design, it's great! The bed is incredibly comfortable! Like probably the best sleep we've got in awhile. The neighborhood is quaint and safe. The drive downtown is probably 15 minutes. If you find yourself in Charleston I would suggest you stay in this Garden Loft.

    Amanda2015-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • David greeted us as soon as we arrived and was extremely helpful in getting us situated and made us feel right at home. The Garden Loft was probably the best Air BnB experience we have had so far; the garden and landscaping was amazing and inviting. We loved watching the hens wander about in the backyard(URL HIDDEN)This is an awesome loft with every amenity you could want; very modern, expansive and very clean and comfortable. Love the open studio design and the wonderful smell of cedar wafting through the air courtesy of the extensive use of wood throughout. The loft is in a quiet neighborhood, but all the local attractions are within a few minutes drive; great places to eat and relax. We took a drive to Folly Beach and had a great time. David provided us with great maps of the area so getting around was a snap. We highly recommend the Loft and would definitely stay here if visiting in the future.

The neighborhood is quiet and safe. The neighbor does have chickens next door and you will hear his rooster crowing from time to time.
  • Overall the stay was great! Very clean and cute apartment. The bed was very comfortable and the marsh view was everything we hoped for. However, the television had some issues that were never completely resolved during our stay. The other issue was that Charleston is famous for the great food and no great places delivered there. Might have been something to mention. Otherwise, great location if you want something relatively close to town and the airport, but more quiet. Thanks for hosting!

    Jamie2013-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a fab apartment! Milton & Sherry were excellent hosts & made us feel very welcome. Place was spotless & bed very comfy! The dock overlooking the marsh was picture perfect & a great place to watch the sunset. The neighbourhood felt safe & quiet and in a great position to reach both Downtown Charleston and Folly Beach which were approx 10mins drive away. Can't recommend the apartment enough!

    Neil2014-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sherry was a very friendly and responsive host who greeted us at the door. The room was comfortable and came with some basic breakfast options, including coffee and oatmeal. And then there's the backyard where my wife and I enjoyed a nice bottle of wine, and we're surprised by the lack of bugs out at sunset (in October). If you're looking for a low key getaway spot just 10mins from downtown Charleston, this is it.

    Thomas2014-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our host made us feel so welcome and was incredibly accommodating and helpful with suggestions regardless of our late arrival and being under the weather. The space was beautiful and just the oasis we wanted to return to after long days of activity. We loved the neighborhood and water views as well and were even in a spot within walking distance to a local bar and restaurant one evening when we weren't feeling up to heading back downtown. A great space, we hope to return one day soon!

    Linsy2015-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hosts/ great location/ a chance to see a part of the country where we had never been. Refrig was well stocked when we got there and our hosts provided us with a great deal of information about the area that was spot on. The ride into Charleston only took about 15 minutes and traffic was never an issue. Plenty of stores and restaurants close by that also was convenient. Plenty of room in the aprtment and privacy. A wonderful introduction to the Low Country and the charms of Charleston.

    John2013-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The location was fantastic and the hospitality was great. Sherry and Milton are great hosts. The breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday were really tasty. The suggestions they gave were spot on awesome.

    Matthew2015-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Sherry and Milton were wonderful hosts! The apartment was clean, accommodating and perfect for our stay. The fridge was filled with waters and juices, we were welcome to use the coffee and any of the kitchen appliances, the bed was super comfortable and most of all the breakfasts were absolutely delicious! We would definitely stay at Sherry and Milton's again. Thanks for a great stay!

Private apartment (separate from main house) over workshop and artist studio. Located in quiet residential neighborhood on tree lined road within minutes of Folly Beach and historic downtown Charleston.
The Tree House is unattached from main house allowing you privacy and freedom to come and go as you please. It is furnished with some antiques and original art work by my wife, who is a professional artist.
The Tree House is conveniently located in a quiet residential neighborhood with tree lined streets. We are only ten minutes from downtown Charleston, Folly Beach and the Charleston County Park. Several of Charleston's plantations and gardens are within a half hours drive.
  • Harvey was a great host, beautiful little tree house situated on top of his garage. There was a bed and and an air mattress that comfortably slept the two of us. The temperature was a little cold at the time, but he provided a space heater that worked just fine. It's a ten or so minute drive to downtown Charleston, but with a car it's a breeze. Would definitely recommend to others.

    Alexander2016-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Harvey's place was great! Just as described. Check in and out was seamless which worked out perfectly since I arrived late. . I had the pleasure of meeting Harvey upon leaving . A very nice man and helpful with sightseeing tips and directions. He was in constant contact with me in case I needed anything. Highly recommend staying here if you're traveling to Charleston.

    Marie2016-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very easy arrival and stay in the Tree House. Harvey left a key and we walked into a comfortable and clean room that is separate from the house to use while visiting family in the area. All the necessary amenities are provided and the apartment is nicely furnished with original artwork to complement the space. It is quiet and conveniently located to the main route between Charleston and Folly Island.

    Lindsay2016-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect spot for us to explore Charleston from. Situated half way between Folly Beach and Historic Charleston. The space was really sweet, just right for a couple; comfortable bed, plenty of fluffy towels. Harvey went out of his way to be a gracious host, checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. We can't wait to return for another visit!

Cozy, green, modern and tech equipped. Heat/AC, unlimited hot water, lux linens, and towels for your visit on Business, Vacation or Weddings. Please read entire listing details before booking.
True American classic, 1977 Airstream completely remodeled into a cozy, private retreat. Please read entire listing to insure this space meets your expectations. This should be considered a "Novelty Stay" and not compared to, a hotel, or house accomodations. As much as we love her, Alice is essentially an upgraded, quirky, glamor camping (glamping) experience--It is a stay for the adventurous, open minded traveler. Okay, with that out of the way—moving on… This space has gone through a major reno and "green" upgrade, including 2 standard twin beds with yummy handmade linen bedding and towels. Smart TV's with bluetooth, cable, WiFi, USB charging, sweet little stand up or sit down shower with on-demand hot water, complete rewiring, plumbing, (connected to sewer) heat reduction window film and energy star heat pump, A/C unit. This is a small space. It has been equipped with a single unit, duel heat pump A/C unit that goes off and on frequently. If you are a very light sleeper, this may be bothersome. The kitchenette has a full size sink, small refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker (K-cup) microwave. and creamer in the fridge. Small table can be used as computer work space or a quick sit down for a meal. In the cold winter months, the beds are outfitted with down comforters and there are extra blankets to keep things cozy if you need it. As this space is a renovated classic, it does not meet ADA compliance. Please be sure to read the details in the "Other Things to Note" section regarding the bath area-- (curtained only) and space limitations for ceiling height and toilet area. If you are looking for a casual, clean, updated and private space to relax during a visit to Charleston for a business trip wedding or just passing through, Alice is clean, inclusive, quaint, coastal and local. We proudly offer American made, Beekman 1802 personal care amenities and serve locally grown, Charleston Tea Plantation teas.
West Ashley (West of the Ashley River) is one of the original Charleston "suburbs." Our home is in an old school, diverse and friendly neighborhood of odd little homes and multi units built mostly from the late 1920's through the late 1950's where the grand oaks and moss drape together to make a lovely canopy over the streets and homes. At nearly anytime during the day or evening, you will see people go by on bikes, walking dogs and jogging. There are several local restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and shopping within a 2-mile radius. Just ask us! We will tell you all about our faves.
  • We had the most wonderful time staying in Nancy's beautifully renovated Airsteam, aka "Alice". From before we even arrived, Nancy messaged us to let us know that warm banana bread and coffee would be waiting for us first thing in the morning (we arrived super late!) - and the warm hospitality just continued right up until we left :) We hope to return to Nancy and Alice one day in the not too distant future and cannot recommend the experience enough!

    Anita2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in Alice was my first Airbnb experience and I couldn't have asked for better! Nancy was a wonderful host and made sure that we felt welcome! She suggested many different things for us to do around the town and even baked us doughnuts one morning! It was a wonderful little getaway and we would definitely recommend this listing to anyone!

    Riley2016-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful night at Nancys! The Airstream was very very comfy and clean. She as a host is just wonderful. We would stop by everytime again. Thank you!

    Si2016-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great experience! The airstream is clean, spacious, updated, and charming. We usually don't watch a lot of tv on vacations, however we ended up going to Charleston during a tropical storm. So it was awesome that Nancy has added a ton of technology (wifi, cable, Bluetooth radio) in the airstream so we still had things to do when it was pour down rain. If you want a unique, fun experience, I recommend staying here!!!

    Ashley2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Hands down best Airbnb I've ever been to! Nancy's airstream is super cool, and it was super comfy and cozy inside, with green and high-tech equipment. She was very welcoming and gave us a lot of recommendations around Charleston. The next morning she made us breakfast and showed us around her house and artwork she did. • Nancy is an outstanding host. She provided great local recommendations and none of them disappointed. The camper was better than the description and she was very accommodating. The little touches and amenities were more than expected. Very clean and green. Recommend this stay!!

    Traci2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience was exceptional! Nanc went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay and our only regret is we didn't book longer! The place is a picture of modern sustainability, and a high end take on a mobile home. She recognized that were busy travelers and made us a breakfast to go! Definitely book this if you can

  • Our stay in charleston was perfect and having Nancy as a host was the cherry on top. The glampor was cozy, comfy and adorable. Nancy gave us some great recommendations for local spots & each place she recommended was great. We definitely plan on visiting charleston again & staying in the glampor or suite.

  • Paula made sure we had all the information we needed, and a guest book had lots of additional helpful tips from past guests. Functional kitchen and clean. Perfect location. Close enough to enjoy a run over the bridge to downtown Charleston.

    Chris2014-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • The condo was very close to everything, we explored the whole area, from downtown, to Fort Sumter on Mount Pleasant, and all the way out to Sullivan's Island, and I feel like we never had anything more then a 15-20 minute ride to our next adventure! The condo was stocked with everything we might have needed from a beach bag with sunbathing mats, to a cool, and a beach umbrella for the perfect beach day! And there was even a regular umbrella handy for the rainy days we encountered! Staying here definitely made it easier to explore the city is the few short days we were there, still a lot to see so we'll most certainly be back!

    Angela2017-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I had a very nice time staying at Paula's apartment. It was very clean and the bedrooms, in particular, were very spacious. It was the perfect space for two people who needed separate bedrooms. The complex was very quiet and a short drive into downtown Charleston. Grocery stores, gas stations and other stores were nearby. The only things lacking for us were the absence of extended cable tv and spotty wifi. Paula was very helpful and responsive. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Charleston!

    Julie2016-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place to stay. So close to everything, yet private enough that night was quiet and the location is safe. There is plenty of food close by (both groceries and restaurants.) You can't go wrong with this choice. Paula was super easy to communicate with and everything from check-in to check-out was super easy.

    Erika2015-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Good location to stay for our visit to Charleston. Had everything we needed. It was clean except that there were some cockroaches in the bathroom. Didn't bother us but may affect others.

    Shirley2014-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Paula was the perfect host with very helpful communication both prior to arrival and during when required. The condo was everything we required and exactly as described, clean, tidy and very quiet in the evenings. It is also very conveniently located to access all areas of Charleston. I would recommended this property to anyone visiting Charleston. Thanks for the outstanding service Paula!

    Chris2015-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Paula was so great about communicating any info that we needed before coming to stay at her place, and once we were there always responded very quickly to any questions we had. My daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights and it was so comfortable for the two of us. Everything is as advertised- so nice and clean and roomy! And it was a really easy drive right over the bridge into downtown Charleston. We had a fabulous visit!

    Cheri2016-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent stay. The condo was just perfect for the 4 of us, and the location was a short drive or uber ride from just about everything! Paula was great at communicating everything we needed and got back to us very quickly to answer any questions we had. Definitely a great stay and we cannot wait to visit again!!!

We are located 10 minutes to Charleston and 2 minutes to Folly Beach on a Wetland preserve. Walking distance to a Tex Mex restaurant & a Brew pub. With your 5 rooms ( NOT whole house), you get a private sun deck (with marsh views) , a PRIVATE BATH, a Covered porch (with 2 hammocks), a den witha Full fridge, micro, kitchenette, Stocked wine fridge, Laundry, an exercise room with treadmill & weight machine, A theater with a 10 foot screen. We offer the ex room and media as extra bedrooms.
First note. This is 5 Rooms NOT the Entire House. There has been some confusion about that. We are located 10 minutes to Charleston the Holy City and only 2 minutes to Folly Beach, on a 1,000 acre Wetland reserve. We are walking distance to a Brew pub, called The Barrel (only craft beer), and a Tex Mex restaurant called Tattooed Senorita. Very easy drive to downtown, just 2 roads. Folly road, then onto route 30 which takes you straight into downtown. We are 25 minutes from the airport. Uber and Lyft are everywhere here, and is $10 to downtown, and $4 to the beach. In addition to your bedroom, you also have access to a private deck, PRIVATE BATH, covered porch (with hammocks) and a den, complete with a TV, wine cooler (which you have unlimited wine for no cost) , wet bar and a full size (fully stocked) fridge and kitchenette. There is also a laundry in your area for your use. We do share the stairway only. If motivated, a fully equipped exercise room next to your room is available, and after a long day, relax in your Jacuzzi tub (in your private bath). All 5 rooms Plus the Media Room is all yours. This is a single bedroom suite, with 3 additional rooms. I have had many requests for more beds, so in each additional room there are also beds. Not to be confused with 4 bedrooms. I have another bed in the exercise room that can be used as a 2nd bedroom, and also in the media room. Parents love having babies stay in the media/theater room with it's soundproofed walls and blackout curtains. Relax on your private deck with some wine and take in the gorgeous marsh sunsets. Or nap away the afternoon on a hammock on the covered porch. For the more active vacationers, you have access to walk the acres of protected salt marsh, right in your back yard. You may choose to bike the two miles to folly beach, or take a 3 mile hike on the marsh lined nature trail, one block away(URL HIDDEN)try to provide anything you may need for your stay. I give you bath salts for the Jacuzzi, bathroom supplies, bikes to ride to the beach, beach towels and beach chairs with books. I also will provide complimentary beer, wine, cereal, bagels, fruit, juice, milk, soda, coffee, tea, and fresh muffins. Don't worry, there is no additional charge for any of this. The full size fridge in your suite is fully stocked but still has plenty of room to bring your favorite goodies. Don't worry, if mother nature steps in and ruins your outdoor plans, we can set you up in our unique home theatre. Imagine watching the game on a 10 foot screen. , and all movie channels thru Directv . We also have over 600 movies available for your watching pleasure. If you have a third guest/ child we change the exercise room to a second bedroom, and the media to a third bedroom. We have 2 twin beds or queen inflatable for your use in those extra rooms if needed.
It is a very small neighborhood with only two streets and is very quiet. Everyone is very welcoming and dog friendly.
  • Where do I begin?! This was the best experience we have ever had with using AirBnb. It felt half like a hotel (because of all the amenities and the comfort!) and half like a weekend visiting my family, these hosts were THAT nice and thoughtful! Both Heather and Henry made our stay so memorable and comfortable from our check in to the breakfast treats, snacks and surprise wedding decor (we were on our honeymoon) every detail was well planned. When we got rained out both nights during our stay, Henry set us up in their home movie theater which was so much fun. They have three adorable and sweet dogs which were never a bother and parking was easy. We will definitely stay here again and recommend this place to our friends! Easy location to both downtown and the beach and Heather provides anything you can imagine you'd need!

    Kate2014-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our first experience with Airnb has set the bar high. The accommodations were over the top with a bedroom, workout room, 2 decks, & a movie theater. Heather made our 20 yr anniversary very special with her little extras and surprises.....champagne, banner, sweets, fresh fruit. We really liked both she and Henry and hope they will visit us in TN for some reciprocation.

    Vicky2015-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • We were warmly welcomed by Heather and shown to our charmingly decorated room with a lovely view over the sandy creek. Heather left us breakfast each day but was very discreet, leaving us to make as much or as little contact as we liked. The house is situated in a very secluded and upmarket street, not far from Folly Beach and around 15 minutes drive from Charleston. Heather gave us advice on how and where to park in Folly Beach and also on some good restaurants and the surrounding area. We really enjoyed eating at Bowen's Island, despite waiting in line for around 20 minutes. It's popular for a reason! We also had a great time renting kayaks with Coastal Expeditions just down the road towards Folly Beach. There is a Harris Teeter supermarket just along the road so the house is in a really great location. Charleston was lovely to walk around with some beautiful, historic houses to see. Overall a wonderful place to stay with lovely hosts.

    Deborah2015-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place, and what amazing hosts! Heather's home was beautiful and she went out of her way to provide an above and beyond experience. We loved drinking (complimentary!) coffee in the morning and (complimentary!) wine at night on in hammocks on the porch. She gave us a HUGE binder filled with information about Charleston, and provided us with everything needed for a day at the beach. We loved her adorable dogs, and were even greeted by a neighborhood bunny on the lawn our first morning! Great location, great hosts, great place to stay. Would highly recommend.

    Kate2015-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Heather and Henry were wonderful hosts! They were extremely accommodating and thoughtful in their AirBnB planning. We couldn't have asked for anything more in our stay; private room and bath, stocked fridge, and balcony! Our trip to Charleston would not have been the same if we had stayed in a hotel. Heather even brought us out beers on the balcony when we were watching the sunset. I wish we would have had more time here!

    Lauren2013-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay with Heather, what a beautiful spot ! Southern hospitality at its best. We hope to return to this area in the future and we will be sure to see if this great place is available. Thanks so much for sharing your home with us. Sincerely, Lene and Frank

    Frank2016-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Heather and Henry's home is very conveniently located between Folly Beach and Charleston. They made us feel welcome and supplied everything we needed for our stay including yummy breakfast treats every morning.

    Erika2016-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Heather's place was PERFECT for our long weekend at Folly Beach! Her house was only 2 miles from the beach, and about 10 minutes from downtown Charleston. Everything about her house made us feel right at home- from the treats left in the morning, to the wine bar, and her recommendations of things to do in Charleston! She also has two amazing porches :) We are already talking about another potential Charleston trip! Thank you Heather and family!

    Quiet, family friendly neighborhood
  • Host family was easily accessible and made our visit simple and unencumbered. Our arrival was late in the evening but everything was ready - the air conditioner was on and the room was prepped for our arrival. Cottage was clean and neat. Neighborhood was convenient to downtown and safe.

    Kristen2015-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Marissa's place was just what we were looking for. It's private and accessible, with all the amenities that you could possibly want. It is a little ways from downtown Charleston, so you will need to travel by car to reach downtown, but other than that, we loved our stay. (P.S. people have said the WiFi is slow, it's not. Works perfectly.)

    Gret2015-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Marissa + Cullen's perfect little cottage for the last week in March to revisit one of our favorite cities and further explore the area. We truly could not have asked for a better experience! PERFECT location for a quick drive to downtown Charleston, all of the little "touristy" parts of the surrounding areas, and nearby Folly Beach (the cleanest and easiest accessed public beach we've ever been to!) Local eateries within a few minutes drive were absolutely fantastic, as well as the dog park on James Island where we went several times with our 60lb shepherd/heeler mix. Marissa, Cullen, and Journey were fabulous hosts and you would truly be missing out if you passed up the opportunity to stay here!

    Aleisha2017-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at Marissa and Cullen's! It was a great location - quick drives to downtown and to Folley beach, and they gave us some great suggestions for places to go/eat. The sweet little guest house fit our needs perfectly. We were so happy for a dog friendly spot!

    Emily2016-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great location to explore Charleston from. It was easy to find and it only took 15 (if that) minutes to get into the downtown Charleston area. We were also close to Folly Beach and other attractions on the islands (Tea Plantation, etc.). Our hosts were available by text/phone if we needed anything and we felt comfortable on their property. Our dogs liked getting to meet their dog, too :) The cottage was very nice, clean with neat features, and the bed was comfy. We would recommend this location to anyone looking to explore Charleston while getting a feel of the neighborhood. There are parks nearby, tasty food, sights, and more!

    Jennifer2016-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Communication was excellent and cottage was exactly as advertised. It was exactly what we were looking for. Clean , quiet and the patio was perfect for our morning coffee and evening cocktails. The location was great. Accessible to both the beach and downtown. Both check in and check out was seamless and easy. Marissa and Cullen were very sweet. We would recommend this to friends

    Bill2016-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • The rental was centrally located with quick access to downtown and near an easy route to Folly Beach. Finding a place as nice and affordable as this rental that also allowed dogs was wonderful. We appreciated the small porch and enjoyed the backyard with Live Oak trees. And the surrounding neighborhood was quiet and pleasant. We would stay here again.

    Brian2016-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our time at Marissa and Cullen's cottage was more than we could have asked for! It was exactly as described and so covieniet to the beach and downtown charleston. Me and my fiance (and our 2 dogs) LOVED it! We would love to go back soon! Marissa and Cullen were so friendly and helpful with anything we needed. This place is awesome!

  • We stayed here during New Year's weekend and had a blast! It's only about an hour from Charleston, where we stayed during the day. The trip to and from Charleston feels a lot shorter than it was. We did not have the pleasure of meeting Missy, but her husband was more than accommodating! He made us feel welcome and both responded to questions/concerns in a timely manner. The bus is amazing! Truly something magical :)

    Amy2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was a pleasure to meet Missy and her family, they really have a great idea brewing in Edisto! The Wonderland Bus was an experience unlike any other, a great adventure to take with your partner giving the opportunity.

  • Jeff and Missy are some of the nicest people I have met! We had such a relaxing and restful time on the Wonderland bus and by the time we left, we felt like we were a part of the Edisto beach community! This was a great value and a short drive into the town of Edisto beach. I will return and tell my friends about this gem on the island.

Edisto Beach is a town in Colleton County, South Carolina, United States. Edisto Beach's population was 414 as of the 2010 census, down from 641 at the 2000 census. The town limits include only the developed coastal area of Edisto Island within Colleton County, while the majority of the island consists of unincorporated land in Charleston County. Due to its status as a bedroom community, Edisto Beach is among the most affluent communities in the state. History Edisto Beach was originally settled by the Edistow Indians, but was rediscovered by the Spanish in the late 16th century. Thereafter, commerce on the island began to develop. Rice and indigo were the most common crops during the early settlement years. Later, significant cotton plantations were built and flourished. This industry, fueled by rich landowners and slaves, prospered until the Civil War. Although Union soldiers invaded Edisto and Johns Island, Confederate forces were able to retain control of Charleston until 1865, very late in the Civil War. By the 1920s South Carolina residents began arriving on Edisto Island and Edisto Beach to build crude retreats. In those days, access to the island could be gained only at low tide by driving or riding across the marsh on beds of oyster shells. Although most homes on the island were destroyed in the 1940s, Hurricane Hugo spared the island in 1989. It has since become a vacation destination with a section of the island recently purchased by Wyndham Resorts. In 2012, Edisto held its first ever road race attracting close to 200 runners, including the mayor. Edisto is known for its low tourism and its industrial scarcity. There used to be a video arcade on the island, but it has since been replaced with a surf shop gift store. Politics and government Edisto Beach is governed by a council–manager government. Under this style, the mayor and the mayor pro tem are elected from members of the town council.City elections are nonpartisan, however, during state and federal elections, Edisto trends toward conservatives. For instance, during the 2013 federal congressional special election, Edisto voted for Republican Mark Sanford by a forty-point margin (69%-29%) over challenging Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch. At the state level, Edisto is represented by Republican George Campsen III in the Senate and Democrat Kenneth Hodges in the House of Representatives. • This Loft was the perfect size and there was plenty of room. Our little family of 3 had a wonderful time. It was a very relaxing stay and we walked the gold course path during the mornings. We enjoyed our stay.

  • The loft was small but comfortable and contemporary. It had everything you needed to feel at home. The card games and Netflix were plenty entertaining when not out and about Edisto. Would definitely stay again.

This charming & comfortable 3 bedroom, 2 bath beach house is located steps from the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy your morning coffee on the porch, the local surf shops, restaurants, & historical attractions. Charleston & Savannah are a short drive away.
This beautiful beach house is the perfect getaway. A short drive from downtown Charleston, Edisto Beach offers a quiet retreat for ultimate relaxation.
Edisto Beach is a quiet and beautiful neighborhood with many locals living on the beach.
  • Treacy was great when we got down there and even make good recommendations on places to go/do/shop. The house is clean and the location is hard to beat for the price! We have a young daughter, so being so close to the beach and being able to walk back and forth just across the road was very helpful. The only complaint I would have would be the deck on the road side (facing the ocean) needs to have closer spindles. We weren't able to enjoy the deck with our daughter for fear she would slip right through them. Outside of that we loved the house, and had a blast!

    Robert2015-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great experience and I would definitely return. The house is just across the street from the ocean and I enjoyed sitting on the deck with a glass of wine or coffee and watching pods of dolphins swimming by on several occasions during our week. We also had the honor of seeing a sea turtle nest hatch and the baby turtles scamper to the sea just 75 yards from the front door. As for the house itself it was very roomy for my family of four. It was super clean and very inviting. Everything functioned properly and the kitchen was easy to work in with all the necessary supplies. The showers had great pressure and plenty of hot water. I also enjoyed the outdoor shower so we didn't track in too much sand. It was nice to enjoy meals in the cool air-conditioning but still see the ocean from the dining area. I highly recommend this listing and Edisto Island itself. We had a wonderful week. Thanks so much Treacy.

  • There are no words that can describe the beauty at Edisto!! And I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else while on Edsito than Edisto Beach Ocean View Retreat. Treacy Is the best and always makes us feel welcome. This was our second time staying here and will always be where we stay from now on. He treats us like family making sure we have everything we need to make our stay the best. It's PERFECT!! Why go anywhere else!!!

    Joseph2015-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was our family's first trip to the SC coast and we were delighted that we chose Treacy's lovely home. It was easy to access and we were immediately on the beach right across the street as soon as we arrived. The house was exactly as described; full amenities, comfy couch and beds, fully functional kitchen. The view of the ocean satisfied the kids and Edisto was exactly as Treacy promised: laid back and full of interesting places. We will definitely recommend to friends and hopefully get to return for some more easy living beach life. Oh, and Treacy is a great Edisto resource; directed us to dolphin sightseeing and sent us to the beautiful Botany Bay Plantation. We highly recommend. Thanks, Treacy, for a great first ocean experience with our kids!!

  • Nice beach house, excellent location. Easy beach access, everything we needed for a great family get away!

    Michael2015-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at this house. Nothing fancy but absolutely perfect for our needs. We needed beach proximity, beds, baths, laundry, & coffee in the morning. It was a spontaneous trip for us & bring able to use beach chairs & an umbrella in the storage room was great for our needs. Treacy was accessible & interested in fulfilling our needs. Would definitely rent again!

    Karin2015-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a wonderful time at Treacy's beach home. He is an outstanding host. The home was very clean, nicely decorated, and fully stocked with all the amenities we needed. The location to the beach was great with 3 small children. It was a quick walk across the street. The ocean view is such a treat. We ate breakfast on the front porch with the sunrise and counted stars at night. Sunset is incredible around 34 th street! We can't wait to come back!

    mary2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • As close to front row as you can get for a second row price. The two vacant lots on front row right across from this house and to the right plus the wonderful deck make for a nice ocean view. This and the very, very fair price make this house a real find. Genie

Close to Charleston, SC with all its cultural and historical offerings & restaurants. In the heart of lush Seabrook Island, often referred to as a "Treehouse", our home is elevated, nestled among gorgeous Oaks dripping in Spanish Moss. The new deck overlooks a lagoon and golf course. Luxuriate in peace and quiet at our home, renovated and refurnished June 2016 with new kitchen and baths, pickled cypress ceilings and bamboo floors. Immaculate and fresh...a perfect vacation get away..
  • We had a wonderful week at the Treehouse! It was spotless, cool and comfortable. We felt right at home. It had several extras (coffee filters, coffee, spices and other kitchen necessities) that were nice to have available. Connected to the Wifi easily. Neighborhood was very quiet and very safe. A five minute bike ride got us to the beautiful beach. We couldn't have asked for anything better! Thank you Beth!

    Lee2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beth's Treehouse was a wonderful place to stay! Only a short drive or bike ride from the beach. The Island was very peaceful and relaxing where you do not need a vacation from your vacation. Our four year old daughter loved the pony ride at the Equestrian Center, the outdoor pool and playground at the Lake House, collecting shells on the beach, and experiencing the wildlife on the Island (watching the deer or counting the tiny frogs on the Boardwalks).

    Ben2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great family vacation, not too far a walk from the beach, and access to an outdoor pool at the Lake House that is amazing for young kids! We would definitely stay here again.

    Mara2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is the place to stay! It's the neatest little treehouse, well equipped, and near everything you could possibly need. You won't regret it!

    Heather2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay with our two kids at Seabrook Island. You'll feel like you are right in the rainforest! Dolphin-watching, horseback-riding, and having all the amenities for a relaxing holiday. Would come back any time! Charleston is about 40 minutes away, we did do a couple of visits there too. I loved the quiet! Thank you for a great stay.

    Krisztina2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Beth was on it! She is great at communicating all of the information you need while you are staying at the treehouse. We had a perfect trip. You should book the tree house. It has a wonderful deck if you love being outside. You are surrounded by beautiful oak trees and you can hear the ocean from the deck!

    emma2016-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a wonderful stay at this unique home. I can't count how many different places I've stayed up and and down the coast of SC and this was definitely one of the nicest. Beautifully decorated, very clean, and super comfortable. Beth has everything one could possibly need - even little things like bandaids in the bathroom and aluminum foil in the kitchen. My favorite thing about the house is you really do feel like you are nestled in a fancy treehouse. The trees that surround the house are gorgeous. We saw squirrels, cardinals, deer, etc. We even saw an alligator, but that was down the road a ways. All in all, a memorable vacation was had by everyone. Would definitely recommend staying in the "Treehouse" to anyone looking for a comfortable, quiet, beautiful place to relax.

    Diana2017-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had a wonderful time at the tree house on seabrook island. The accommodation was very good and was everything we expected. Even though we experienced unseasonably cold weather we thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful beach, with walks, runs and cycling. We also loved watching the dolphins and pelicans at low tide. We found everything we needed for groceries at Fresh fields grocery nearby and enjoyed lunch at Bohicket marina and a beautiful dinner at the gold club. We cooked up lots of southern food...from just caught oysters (purchased across from bi-lo) to gumbo, fresh charlston peach salsa, as well as jumbolaya. We all learned so much at Middleton Plantation ( a must see) . The interpreters at this plantation were so informative and friendly. This was a highlight for our children. The day trips to charlston and savannah made for great memories and photo ops. We packed in so much to our 6 days...but we will need to come back as we are smitten with the south and can't wait to learn and experience more. Thank you to Beth for such a wonderful place to make our home for such an incredible trip!

  • I've been vacationing in Edisto with my family for 20 years. This was our first AirBnB experience -- and it was fabulous! The home was nicer than most weekly rentals we've experienced at the same price point. It's really nice to have towels and beach chairs already there. We'll definitely be back!

    Adam2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This home was perfect for our girls' weekend. It's so lovely and cute and very clean. Beach access was just across the street, so it was a super short walk. The owners provided a sun umbrella and a few chairs we could grab and take with us on our way to the beach. Also, there's more seating on the porch than just the tall table and chairs, which was nice for our group of 6. This was our first time in Edisto, and we really enjoyed our stay. It's very cute and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby (Whaley's is within walking distance), and Botany Bay is worth a visit, too. If I have any negative feedback, it's that it's kind of a pain to have to bring our own bed linens. This is the first place any of us had stayed where we had to do that. Other than that, I highly recommend this cozy beach cottage.

    Patricia2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing little cottage!! We've looked for a while now to find a place in Edisto that we can rent year after year, and this is the one! It was super clean, had a cute cottage feel with updated decor and furniture, was close to the beach, and perfect for our family of six. Rachel was so great to work with and very responsive when we had a small maintenance issue. We highly recommend "Going Coastal" and loved every minute of our stay!

    Erin2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was perfect for our family of four plus in laws. It had everything we needed and location was great. Looked even better in person than pictures. We would definitely stay again.

    Shay2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • First let me say that the house is even cuter in person. The perfect coastal cottage. The decor is beautiful. Loved the unexpected pops of turquoise on the chairs and the doors. The location is fantastic, block and a half from the beach. The kitchen is well stocked, coffee maker, toaster, blender, microwave, plenty of plates, bowls, and utensils. Loved the front porch and because it is on the front of the house, there is nothing to block the breeze from the beach. Spent many an evening just enjoying the summer night there. Another favorite was the screened in sleeping porch. Again on the front so you always have a breeze, took a nap or two there. The bedrooms are good sized with good mattresses. Two bedrooms are on one side and share a bathroom while the third is on the other side with its own bathroom. One bathroom has a tub ( a nice deep soaking tub) and shower and the other has a nice big roomy shower. There are bath and beach towels provided. There is also a shower head downstairs to wash off after a day at the beach. Rachel and Stef were great. If I had a question or a concern, they were only a text or phone call away and always respond very quickly. They said over and over again, "We try to go above and beyond to ensure each stay is perfect and we will continue to do so." They truly mean this. It was nice not to have to go through a management agency. At the end of the week, my husband said this was one of the best vacations we have had, I have to agree.

    Amy2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a gem at Edisto! Short walk across the street to a very secluded part of the beach. Felt like we had it all to ourselves! The house was comfy and decorated so adorably! Rachel was very on top of communicating with us and calming our nerves after Irma hit. We enjoyed the space so much and only wish we could've stayed longer! Great experience!

    Summer2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Good clean place. Very simple and easy check in. The showers were a little lukewarm, but I like a hot shower. Easy access to the beach. The amenities in the house were nice.

  • We loved it! The house is very clean and has everything one would need. There were five adults in our group, and it was perfectly suited for us. Not only did we have access to a pristine beach, but it felt like the property was in a wildlife preserve. Deer were everywhere. My husband cycled to Edisto and saw a huge bald eagle. The beach is perfect for star-gazing. We even were able to see the Milky Way. We all agreed that we will be returning.

  • This beach cottage is great! Very clean and newly renovated, everything felt updated and modern. It is tastefully furnished and very spacious, making for a comfortable stay. Little touches like having iPhone chargers all over the house made it very nice. Frank responded quickly to all our inquiries and was a helpful host. We would definitely recommend staying here!

    Elizabeth2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome owner, great communication, lovely spot. My family can't wait to go back.

    Kavita2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Frank’s place was very comfortable with nice personal touches, like a trunk full of games and puzzles, bikes to ride to the beach, a pretty amazing tv and phone chargers everywhere. Everything was clean, plenty of linens, beach towels, etc. We did not realize that the house was within a gated golf community. It turned out the neighboring island of Kiawah where we were attending a wedding was also a gated community. We like to roll a bit more independently, so the gated part wasn’t really our cup of tea but that’s just us. Last mention: Frank went out of his way to accommodate special queries from us, including arranging for a child’s bike for our daughter. Thanks Frank!

  • This cottage is an ideal place for a stay near the beach. It is attractive, comfortable and with reasonable rates for what you get! The furnishings are lovely, the appliances new and spotless and the nearby beaches lovely. It is a quiet location and a short trip to the lovely little shopping area with a great Harris Teeter market. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the cottage.

  • We LOVED staying in Frank's home on John's Island! Clean, comfortable, with thoughtful amenities and all the comfort of home! We had no trouble finding the home, or getting inside when we arrived. Very family friendly, and super clean and safe for a crawling 6 month old! We will definitely recommend to friends and visit again next year. Highly recommend this rental!

This nationally registered historical home was built in the early 1800s and is a 35 minute scenic drive to downtown Charleston, Popular beaches and resorts, as well as many historical landmarks and parks. If you are looking for a place defined by natural beauty and Southern Charm, there is nothing closer to stepping back into history where times were simpler than the village of Rockville, South Carolina. My place is good for couples, families (with kids), big groups, and Pets. Bring your boat!
There is history around every corner in the house. The best part of the house in my opinion is the front porch, where I have spent hours reading in the hammock, sipping on sweet tea, and talking with friends and family. A weekend at the house feels like a week when you are in Rockville. Remember, this is a very old family home. With any old house you will find beauty, character, and many quirks. We use well-water which has a "pluff mud smell." If you are looking to book a modernly immaculate resort, try looking at Kiawah. If you want to experience simple and charming Southern Living surrounded by natural and historic beauty, this is the right place for you!
The neighbors are friendly and it is nice to walk and explore. I like to walk down to the yacht club and hang out on their dock. The walk is on a dirt road and you pass lots of historical houses and churches on the way.
  • Amazing place!!!! Very relaxing and comfortable home. House is very clean and Elizabeth has you supplied with all you need and more. View is breathtaking on the porch in the morning. Very peaceful. The house is everything it say it is. Thanks Elizabeth.

  • This house is an amazing wonderland of beautifully decorated rooms; deep bath with a view of the water; cozy porch for watching the birds, squirrels, and dolphins; completely stocked kitchen for all your cooking needs; close proximity to Charleston; a quiet, serene haven for the weary. We had been through a rough week and Elizabeth was so good and kind and made sure we felt welcome and comfortable: fresh flowers, hearty bread with local jam, gifts beneath the tree, a soothing coloring book . . . absolutely BEST HOST EVER. We especially enjoyed the sanctuary beneath those old oaks that dipped out into the water where dolphin hunted for small fish. The best time to see the porpoises is early morning, when the sun is rising over the bay and turning the dark surface of the water into lovely orange and pink. Incredible. The kitchen is ready for cooking and we made all of our meals except one: Hannibal's Kitchen in Charleston makes some of the best soul food and is very affordable. We also visited the Charleston Tea Company, Firefly Distillery, and Deep Water Vineyard. Everyone in the area is so nice, quick to wave hello and sincere in wishing you a good day. This was by far one of the best getaways we have ever experienced. The house, the location, and Elizabeth helped us heal and rejuvenate. So thankful.

  • If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and relax, this is the place to do it. Only a thirty minute drive from downtown Charleston and you will be able to travel back in time to an area that has escaped modern day developement. Amazing to walk along sand roads, 200 year old homes, under spanish moss covered live oaks. This setting is right out of a movie. Beauty is everywhere.

    Sandi2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • A very special place. A real privilege to enjoy Rockville in this way. Thank you!

  • The place is great. Liz was very welcoming. We had kids and enjoy every intiriguing object in the house. The porch was fabulous we even saw some daulphins in the morning. There is plenty to visit right around there and Liz graciously gave us some nice food recommandations.

  • This place was great. Out of the way, but that's part of its charm. It allowed me to explore a new part of charleston while having all the creature comforts of home. It was so nice to relax on the front porch every evening.

    Michelle2017-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • This home is truly one of a kind! It was great to stay in such a beautiful home that is full of history. We had never been to South Carolina before, and this house and the neighborhood where it is located, made the perfect setting for what we were looking for, which was a quintessential, southern, coastal home. We let Elizabeth know that we were going to be arriving late in the evening (we drove from Kansas City, Missouri to the Charleston area) and she made sure that there were plenty of lights on inside the house so that we were able to find the property late at night. We stayed for a total of four nights, about a week before Christmas. She had a lovely Christmas Tree up for us when we arrived, and there were some very thoughtful and charming gifts waiting for us underneath it! As for the house itself, there is more than plenty of room if you have more than two or three people. The water does have an odor to it, as Elizabeth does describe, however it didn't bother us much, particularly since we were aware of it ahead of time. It really does smell like rotten eggs! But as I said, we were aware of it and were expecting it so it was not an issue for us at all, just something that came with the charm of the house! We also found the beds to be more than comfortable, we slept upstairs, in the room on the right side of the staircase. We loved this room in particular, I wish my bedroom at home was designed this way! Two of the mornings we were awakened by the sounds of chickens and dogs, which was charming for us, however for those wanting to sleep in on their vacation this may be an issue. On the morning we left, however, we were awaked by the sound of splashing; three dolphins had made their way really, really close to the shore and were just having a fun time playing with each other! It was a lovely way to end our trip! This home will always have a special place in my mind as well, as I asked my (now) fiancee to marry me while we were down in the region, and Elizabeth was more than helpful in suggesting ideas and offering her assistance with anything that I may have needed to make popping the question go more smoothly. We feel we truly got our money's worth by staying here, and hopefully we get the opportunity to do so again in the future!

    Dakota2016-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing home with incredible details! If your looking for a place to make relaxing enjoyable this is your place! Elizabeth was quick to respond to our questions and the house was clean and ready for us. The views are amazing and if your looking for a place to escape this is the place for you!

The Chaika is a lovely house on a secluded lot at the end of a street with no other house adjacent and no thru traffic. Beautiful live oak in front gives a nice view out the glassed-in porch. Only a short 5-minute walk to the beach on a rarely-used sandy drive. 5-minute drive to St. Helena sound for calmer waters and great beach combing. Chaika means "seagull" in Russian - read the owner bio for info on why that name. A great house for families and friends to connect! And we are pet friendly.
Please read the description below before booking. Ask any questions prior to booking by clicking on the "contact host" link below. Also note we have seasonal pricing, so until you put the dates in, the price shown is likely not accurate. The house is secluded with undeveloped lots on either side and behind us. Being the last house on a no-outlet, sand covered street means very little traffic. The huge live oak tree in the front further makes you feel like you are away from things. Yet it is just a short 5-minute walk to the beach.
Our street is just before the island turns from facing the ocean to facing the sound, so both are accessible. The bike path begins just three blocks from us and makes a nice loop around the end of the island. Great for walking or biking. The water tower is just a block from us if you want to get fresh drinking water, although the house is equipped with an RO filter for good drinking water from the tap.
  • Chaika on Edisto is an awesome place close to everything and great for larger groups. We used it for a long weekend to relieve stress and that's exactly what we did. Returning home feeling refreshed and ready to start the new year.

  • Chaika is a great house for a large family, with plenty of sleeping space. The kitchen is well equipped with cooking and eating utensils. It is a five minute walk to the beach. Under the house, there are picnic tables for summer use. We were there for the week of Christmas, and enjoyed not having to fight the traffic. BiLo had the necessities and we enjoyed a meal or two at the local restaurants. Be sure to visit the Edisto Bookstore. We are looking forward to our next visit to Edisto.

  • We had a wonderful weekend stay at the Chaika. The home is on a dead end street and is very secluded and quiet. But just a 5 minute walk to the beach! My grandson said "Let's stay in this house again the next time we go to Edisto". We will!

    Nancy2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • This home was the ABSOLUTE BEST for our family gathering. My cousins and I (about 10 first cousins) and our families decided to come back to the Edisto area to spend a Thanksgiving weekend together. Our plans had to change somewhat post Hurricane Matthew because a couple of places my cousins rented were damaged so we moved the major festivities to a hotel in Charleston. James kept me informed pre-stay about what was going on with the house so I never was worried about whether or not we had use of Chaika. My brother and his wife, my cousin, and my husband and I stayed at Chaika and we were amazed at how much space this home has. You have an enclosed porch on the upper level front, you have a rear balcony coming off the kitchen (with steps down to the lower level patio), with a center living area - large kitchen - and two bedrooms and a single bath on either side of the central living area. The lower level patio allows for covered parking but it's huge under there - our family could have done our crab feast there if we had known how large a space it was, you really can't tell in pictures (we did that in Charleston, too). When we checked in to the house there was an alarm going off and we found that it was the smoke detector. We called back to the realty company and they sent someone over quickly and he changed the batteries. We could have taken care of this ourselves if we had just read the House Guide which would have told us there were supplies in the closet and we would have changed the battery ourselves. Everything in the home was labeled to make it easier for you to find things - big pots, baking items, glasses... Very nice touch for visitors. This space was perfect for us. Be aware, this is the south and we sometimes get insects in the house but the home was equipped with supplies in the closet (insects feel the cooler weather, too, and like to find a little warmer area - which sometimes happens to be the house). Our little reunion took us into Charleston on each day but my cousins came back to Chaika on Saturday night where we did shrimp and grits for half the crew. They absolutely loved the home and wrote down the info because they plan to use it in the future for their own stays. We really only used the home for sleeping other than the shrimp dinner so we wish we could have stayed longer. The weather was SO COOPERATIVE but we only had a short time to visit the beach (you are less than a 5 minute walk) - I grew up n the area (Summerville/Charleston) but the weather was much warmer than anticipated (in the high 70s). We definitely will be back. Lovely time.

    Erika2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in Chaika was everything our family needed for our Christmas weekend! Plenty of room for our big family and perfect location from the beach. We used every space in the house and the weather allowed for a lot of relaxation and family time outside on the porches and below the house! Thank you again

    Johanna2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at this roomy and well situated home. There was plenty of space for all of us. The area under the home provided a great place for the young adults to have fun late into the evening while us old folks were sleeping. We had been warned by friends that there was nothing to do in Edisto, but we found plenty, as our main goal was relaxing and spending time together. The beach was lovely, whaleys was delicious and within an easy walk, and the bike path was easy to get to and a lot of fun. The local grocery store is small but is surprisingly well stocked with basics, and the prices on many things are about what you would pay at home. We visited in mid October and had the beach to ourselves much of the time. The few people that we did run into were very friendly and gave us good advice about fishing and local Goings on.

  • We absolutely loved our stay here! Perfect location and the house was great. We especially loved the outdoor space. Would definitely recommend staying here.

  • James was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed (including sheets and towels since we came from Portland, OR). House was big, comfy, and clean. Really liked the front porch. Enjoyed being in the low country and ate lots of fresh shrimp from the local seafood market (Flowers Seafood). Found a sharks tooth. Flew a kite. Swam in the waves. I highly recommend visiting Botany Bay!

Tranquility lives up to its name. Peace and quiet are the two most frequent words guests use in describing their visit. Staying in this wooded island neighborhood, you will truly come to understand why locals often refer to time here as "Edi-slow." Less than 4 miles from the beach and 1 mile from the SC State Park Boat Landing, hiking/bike trails, and Interpretive Center, this is the place to unplug from the world and reconnect with family and friends while enjoying island life.
Down a quaint dirt road, surrounded by big oaks, palmettos, and pine trees, this island-cottage style home on stilts lives much larger than its 1200 sq ft. With hardwood flooring and open floor plan, Tranquility is perfectly suited for family vacations, intimate getaways and small group retreats. Enjoy morning coffee and meals on the screened porch or lounge in the hammock with your favorite book. You will be treated to the sights and sounds of Lowcountry wildlife on the covered, wrap-around porch.
Tranquility is located in a quiet island neighborhood with dirt roads and lots of trees. Most of our neighbors are year-round residents of Edisto. Don't be surprised to see a herd of deer on an evening walk or hear the competing melodies of many birds as you enjoy breakfast on the porch.
  • We enjoyed our stay here. The house was perfectly nestled away in the woods in a nice, quiet neighborhood with very little car traffic. We chose the location due to the proximity to the state park boat landing. We were able to sit on the front porch and watch multiple types of birds up close as the trees are right next to the porch. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and was well laid out so that multiple people could prepare food at once. We had a lovely dinner in the screened in porch. The master bedroom was spacious and the master bath huge. The living room was very comfortable with plenty of games, books, movies for our enjoyment.

    Ed2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great private area, only a few minutes drive to the beach and restaurants. Very clean and comfortable. There are movies, games, and ping pong to keep you entertained if it rains. Would definitely stay here again!

    Derek2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This house is surrounded by trees and foliage, and the wildlife is right outside the door. The reception is spotty, but a welcome break. This place is a great one to unplug and just be in the South Carolina coastal woods.

    Cupertina2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • My kids and I had an exceptional 4 day vacation on Edisto recently, and were privileged to be the first renters for the summer at the "Tranquility" House. The house was clean and pretty, and the photos shown on Airbnb, are very accurate. Chris answered a lot of questions I had ahead of time and that was very helpful when making our plans, as to what extra things we needed to bring, good spots on the beach , places to go, do, etc...Originally, I was wanting to be closer to the beach, but actually the house being quiet and secluded, and off the beaten path, gave us the relaxing vacation experience that we were looking for, in a shorter amount of time. There are neighbors, but space between, and so much quiet. Nature abounds with lots of birds during the day , crickets and peepers at night. Being un-plugged (without wi-fi) is a good thing to be sometimes, esp. in this busy ,crazy world we live in, and my kids (teenagers) were fine, without being connected for a few days. We rode bikes and walked on the dirt roads surrounding the house to beautiful marsh views, read lazily in a hammock about the island's rich history, and re-newed dormant ping-pong skills with marathon matches. Getting to the beach or island Bi-lo, was easy (about 3 miles) with choices for parking at pretty much every beach access. We definitely would like to stay there again, hopefully longer the next time!

    Amy2017-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • To use Chris's words, staying at Tranquility was "easy - breezy"! We appreciated the fact that the house rules were simple and that locking up and leaving was not rushed as it is with most realty company rentals. The location was perfect and the peace and quiet was exactly what we needed. We highly recommend Tranquility!

    Sis2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • A great house nestled in beautiful woodsy area. great for walking and relaxing

    Stefanie2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Edisto island was a great pick for a SC getaway for just the two of us, and this place made it as peaceful as we could've imagined. It's definitely fit for a crew, the price was just so good! Don't be thrown off by the "no wifi" or that it's a few miles from the beach. The location is in the less developed area of the island--meaning less traveled roads, wildlife, gorgeous views of live oaks with hanging moss, and peace! The beach is still very accessible from the home, just a few minutes and you can drive botany bay rd (HIGHLY recommend viewing the beach there), or pull up at one of the many access points at edisto beach. $5 to get into the park where the beach has camping and cabins, but was just worth it for a couple hours of swimming & lounging. There's a grocery close by for most things, and Chris was quick to let me know about Flowers Seafood for our low country boil (the place has a big pot in the kitchen!). The evening storms on the porch were my favorite part. Thanks you two!

Secure, peaceful, quiet island with miles of natural beach. Only place in the world to watch dolphins strand. • We are long time vacationers to Seabrook Island and have stayed any many of the vacation homes on the island. The finishes on Dave and Sandy's cottage were some of the nicest we've seen. The owners were kind and accessible. We had a wonderful trip and enjoyed their home!

  • We were celebrating my daughter's 16th birthday and she brought her friend. The girls had a wonderful time! The cottage was clean and cozy and we were able to check right in on arrival. Thanks for the beach towels and chairs! Seabrook Island is a gorgeous location. We went to north beach but the girls loved the pool too. They enjoyed the bikes and we were very excited to see dolphins both while we kayaked and at the beach. It's only a 45 minute ride into Charleston and we did spend 1 day exploring downtown but honestly there is so much to do right on Seabrook Island we didn't really have to leave the Island. Thank you David and Sandy for offering this lovely gem on airbnb!

  • We really enjoyed our stay. The house was cozy, clean and well-stocked. Master bed was soooo big and sooo comfortable. The bikes and boogie boards, etc. were an appreciated plus. Proximity to the beach was good. We would definitely recommend this property! Thank you!

  • We absolutely loved Seabrook and David and Sandy's place was perfect for our family of 5. It was everything I hoped it would be and more, from the breezy and open design and low country style decor to the screened back porch where we enjoyed our evenings. The cards and games were a nice touch. The best thing of all was the bikes and and all the beach and other sports equipment. We loved not having to spend extra money renting any of that. The amenity pass that you need in order to access all that Seabrook has to offer was a slight inconvenience to go get initially, but it was worth it - our kids spent as much time at the pool, arcade, basketball courts, and playground as they did at the beach. On that note, it's a short bike ride to beach access, and then a walk depending on what beach you go to. Overall we would absolutely recommend this place if you're planning a trip to Seabrook, and we would stay here again!
