  • What can I say that hasn't already been said? Karen and Elaine's cozy cottage near Glasgow is an absolute gem! Staying there was truly a highlight of our entire 2 weeks in Scotland. If I could, I'd plan another trip back and just stay at the cottage. To say it was a home away from home would only be true if my home was half as lovely, warm and wonderful as their's. Karen and Elaine were both wonderful hosts who made us feel like we were family members rather than strangers. I'd recommend this listing to friends and family in a heartbeat and look forward to returning one day!

  • A very warm welcome, in a place that is comfortable and relaxing - thank you Karen and Elaine for an excellent stay. We would gladly stay again if we're ever in the area in future.

  • Lovely scenery, great location. 5 stars

  • Karen and Elaine's place is so comfortable, cosy and welcoming. We didn't want to leave! So many kind and thoughtful touches. Good location for getting to central Scotland and Glasgow without being in the hustle and bustle of the city. We'd definitely stay again.

  • Staying at Karen and Elaine's cottage was our first experience on AirBnb and it's going to be very hard to beat that experience in the future! First, Karen and Elaine were unbelievably great hosts (very worthy of that super host tag), we loved the little Scottish treats and breakfast goodies! Second the cottage aparment was just perfect and had everything you could need, so cozy it felt like a home away from home. The grounds were beautiful and the hot-tub was an unexpected treat as well! Lastly the cottage was pretty covenient to get into Glasgow but still removed enough to feel out in the country. Lenzie was very charming as well! We had a wonderful stay, thank you again Karen and Elaine, we hope to return someday!

  • We had a lovely week in Bothlynbank cottage. Karen and Elaine were the perfect hosts: friendly, most helpful and discrete. The cottage was perfectly comfortable and the surrounds were charming. Easy access to Glasgow city and to the Trossachs, which suited us down to the ground. We have no hesitation in recommending Karen and her peaceful cottage (Website hidden by Airbnb) Dermot and Linda Durkin.

  • My grandparents thought it was excellent in every way. They'd recommend it to anyone and hope to stay again.

  • Aileen and Robert's home was very clean and comfortable. We stayed between Christmas and New Year. I enjoyed the Christmas tree and Poinsettia. It was nice to be in a home rather than an impersonal hotel room. Lots of drawer space and adequate hanging space was available. There were many, many channels on the television. Off street, private parking was convenient. Wifi had a good signal. The house was very clean and nicely decorated. We would definitely stay with Aileen and Robert again. I suggest that you identify the house and location on (Hidden by Airbnb) Earth before attempting to find the house. Aileen's directions are accurate, but we managed to get lost anyway. Note that there is a walking path along a river across the street, along with a couple of sheds. If you are approaching from the football field direction, the words SLOW will be written in your lane immediately before you need to turn into the driveway.

  • Lovely home, spotlessly clean. Would stay again

    Claire2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • This family home is lovely and cosy. Very welcoming. Met robert at the house and got checked in and how appliances work. We were then left to it. Free secure parking at the back of the house. Extremely clean and well organised. Provides all the basics and croissants for breakfast. Wonderful place and also allows for the privacy that we wanted and easy access to the city centre. You can also see great views with horses and lambs close by.

  • A home from home. Quite central for travelling to city, but in a quiet and leafy suburb. Very comfortable beds in lovely airy rooms. Everything sparkling clean & well designed. Thoughful hosts who checked us in and left us to it. Would definitely use again and recommend. Perfect!

  • We had a wonderful stay. Aileen was an excellent host and we found her extremely thoughtful. She even prepared soup for us on the day of our arrival. The place was spotlessly clean and very well organised. There were detailed written instructions for operating kitchen appliances, TV and wifi. Aileen was always available on her phone and responded to queries swiftly. We would love to come back and stay at Aileen's place during our next trip to Scotland.

Lennoxtown is a town situated at the foot of the Campsie Fells in East Dunbartonshire. Lennoxtown was formerly known as ‘Newtown of Campsie’ and the present population is around 4,000. A notable building is the Campsie High Kirk, a gothic-style building built around 1828 by Glasgow architect David Hamilton, which was unfortunately destroyed by fire in the 1980s and now lies in ruin. Lennoxtown is now home to a Schoenstatt retreat centre. Whitefield Pond is a popular spot of fishing and sits just below the nearby Campsie Fells. Lennox Castle was also designed and built by David Hamilton between 1837 and 1841 after he was commissioned by John Lennox Kincaid, head of the local Clan Kincaid. After it was sold in 1927, Lennox Castle was used as both a maternity and mental hospital until 2002 and the building was severely damaged by fire in 2008. Celtic Football Club now has their modern training ground in part of the former castle grounds. The town has a selection of local shops and a wide variety of cafes and pubs to eat in. Lennoxtown is easily accessible by road and lies close to the M80 and M73 motorways. There are a number of buses services connect the town to Glasgow as well as a number of surrounding towns such as Kirkintilloch and Milton of Campsie.

Lenzie is a small town north east of Glasgow conveniently situated on the Edinburgh and Glasgow railway line. Lenzie has 2 well stocked co-ops,a Post - Office, cafe, hairdressers,a pub, a brand new family restaurant, very good Indian restaurant, Chinese carry out and a Fish and Chip shop all within a short walking distance. Nearby Kirkintilloch has a bigger selection of supermarkets , shops and cafes. There is also a Leisure Centre with swimming pool nearby.
  • Katrina's annexe is just a wonderful place to stay. I was there for 5 weeks this time, while working nearby, and I really enjoyed the quiet, the privacy, my own front door, the feeling of an oasis from the busyness of work, a kitchenette equipped with everything I needed, a super-comfortable bed, and the kindness of my hosts. Am returning later in the summer.

  • Perfect 4-night stay, and by far the best 'bang for buck' ratio of all the airbnbs I've visited. Accommodation had everything - own bathroom, big plush mattress, central heating in all rooms (of what is effectively a self-contained apartment), fully-equipped kitchen (just no oven), TV, ironing equip., washer/dryer, etc etc. ... and all of this private to just the airbnb, and all quite new. Some food staples & treats waiting on arrival. And the icing on the cake - a couple of cute & friendly ferrets in the back garden. Very green & quiet neighbourhood. Host very friendly and accommodating. Can't think of any downsides.

  • Great accommodation in a good location. Near good transport links. The owner has thought of everything a guest might need for their stay. Highly recommended.

  • We have stayed with Katrina twice and now and each time has been fantastic! We have family just around the corner so location wise it can't get better. The flat is perfectly equipped with everything you could need and more. She even gives you necessities such as milk, butter, bread, jam, tea, etc. Absolutely wonderful little place and highly recommend to anyone looking to stay just outside the busy city.

    Jessica2017-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had to find an accomodation on very short notice (1 day before we arrived) and it was no problem to book our stay with Katrina. She and her family made us feel very welcome and the accomodation was very lovely and clean. All the important things like mikrowave, toaster, kettle, fridge with small freezer, plates etc. , towels and toiletries were provided. Additionally, Katrina offered a variety of breakfast food as well as coffee, milk, orange juice and bottled water. Big perks were the separate entrance and the free parking space right next to the accomodation as well as the proximity to Glasgow. It was our first airbnb experience and we were positively surprised to find such a well-kept accomodation with such nice hosts. Overall, our expectations were exceeded and if we are ever in the area again we know where to stay ;-).

  • Fabulously cosy shabby/ chic house in a beautiful setting. The bed was superb with lovely crisp white bedding . Breakfast was a treat with home made muesli and wild raspberries picked from the local wood! Sabrina was away so we were looked after by her very charming husband Douglas who couldn't have been more attentive and helpful.

    Susan2016-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely time here, I'd definitely recommend it to any travellers. The grounds are beautiful with a river and plenty of space to sit and enjoy looking at the countryside. It's very quiet and a perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of the outside, roughly half way between Glasgow and Edinburgh. Sabrina was a very good host, breakfast was of a high standard (both the cooked breakfast and the help yourself items) in a very nicely presented room. There's a sitting room with very comfortable couches too if you don't like being outside. The bedroom was clean and spacious and the bed comfortable, all in all a very good find.

  • My partner and I needed a nice restful break, the photos on this listing looked perfect. Nicky's place well and truly lived up to our expectations, wonderful accommodation with great hosts and their lovely wee dog Daisy. Had no problems during the stay, apart from needing some ice, which Nikky was great in bringing over. I'm over 6 foot tall and found the room easy to manoeuvre, the shower was well positioned with a door that swung into the bath for easy access. We loved our stay and enjoyed a quality morning chat with our hosts before we left, reluctant departure for sure. Enjoy. :)

  • We loved this beautiful place! The house is decorated really nicely, and the hosts are lovely. We didn’t really appreciate how beautiful the loch is from the photos and it’s really close to everything!

  • A lovely big, traditional family house with a cosy wood burning stove and big bedroom with bed with feather mattress topper and electric blanket - very cosy for our winter stay. Modern shared bathroom. We were able to bring our dog with us and it as a very pet friendly house with a gorgeous Savannah cat. The village is only 5 minutes drive away with a nice pub. We were able to help ourselves to breakfast in the big kitchen in the morning.

  • We had a wonderful time staying at Stuart's place! It was right on the railway, making the trip to the city only a few minutes. Stuart had fresh towels waiting for us, and even made us breakfast on our last day, which was so sweet.!

  • Stuart is an absolutely amazing host. His place is located in a beautiful part of the city that is peaceful and scenic. The train station is quite literally 5 minutes away, and within the same walking distance is more or less anything you would need. His place was clean, well equipped and has everything you might need for a short stay. His friend Allison is an amazing person. The two of them made me feel extremely welcome and at home. Stuart periodically made sure that i was both comfortable and had everything i needed. If you're looking for a great place to stay, this is the place. Highly recommended.

  • My husband and I stayed with Stuart for four nights in September 2015. His flat is in the centre of Milngavie close to buses, trains, shops etc. and at the start of the West Highland Way. There are many other walks starting just yards from his door. It is beautifully situated in a beautiful area. He made us feel very welcome and was very friendly and helpful. Everthing in the flat was very clean, the bed was comfortable. He supplies complimentary breakfast from a large menu and there was always tea, coffee and soft drinks available.

Lovely Granny’s flat with its own entrance and driveway for one car. The accommodation comprises one double bedroom, one big bathroom with bathtub and power shower. The open plan living room contains a good size sitting space with two sofas (one sofabed) and a TV (with Chromecast). It also has a dining table for four and a kitchenette. The kitchenette comprises of small fridge, microwave/convection oven, two induction hobs and washing machine. The flat has gas central heating throughout.
The property benefits from wheelchair access throughout. Enjoy being in the city, while having that great rural feel from your front living room! Two resident horses live in the opposite patch of land, while cows and deer are frequently spotted on the hill view.
The Granny's flat is located at the limit of Boclair/Killermont Estate, making this an ideal place to relax and enjoy nature, with breathtaking views over a lovely field. Great for nature lovers, as two resident horses live in the opposite field, as well as deer and cows can be spotted regularly. We are fortunate to have only local traffic from residents. The flat is at walking distance from several grocery stores (Asda, Sainsbury's) and the Allander Leisure Centre is only 3 km away. Walking distance for those working at the Science Park, or the University of Glasgow Garscube Estate. Also ideal for those embarking on the West Highland Way Walk, just a train station from the start of the walk.
  • Great location for my visit to family in Bearsden. 10 minute walk to Hill foot station. Very quite and private and spotlessly clean. Beautiful outlook. I hope to use again in the future.

  • This is a great Granny flat with a view of a beautiful open field from the living room. The location was perfect for us as we were visiting friends in the neighborhood. Lovely hosts who were very flexible with our check-in time due to our delayed flight. A few Scottish guidebooks were available to read and some light snacks (fruit, instant coffee) were provided, which was a nice touch. Should add that there's also a washing machine included in the unit - if you want to pack lighter! ;)

  • Jacky was a very welcoming host, meeting us along the path to her flat and offering to help carry some extra bags. Our room was large, clean and quiet with a comfortable bed and extra pillows that were much appreciated. Jacky provided assistance in contacting a luggage transport service (we were hiking a segment of the WHW) and restaurant suggestions. Loved our conversations, her sweet cat and breakfast. We wouldn't hesitate to stay with her again.

  • Jacky was a marvelous host. She was welcoming and helpful and we enjoyed getting to know her over tea and breakfast. Her home is inviting and charming and very close to the town center of Milngavie, but is in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Our guest room was large with lots of space for our things, and the bed and linens provided a wonderful night's sleep. The bathroom also was roomy and immaculately clean and well supplied. It was a pleasure to be a guest at Jacky's and we highly recommend a stay with her.

  • A compact, spotlessly clean little apartment - a bit out of the way for the city centre but perfect for our event in Bishopbriggs. The host met us at the arranged time and was friendly and informative. We had everything we needed and it was a comfortable night's stay. The only downside was that the apartment was only separated from the main house by an internal door, so noise travelled. We could hear the family dining and I'm sure they must have heard us chatting/ tv noise. I'd stay here again and would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

  • I was amazed by the warm welcome an the high standards, definately book again, good location prefer the accommodation to a hotel or a short stay apartment

  • Absolutely lovely hosts, very welcoming and friendly. Really nice house with everything you could need in a quiet area only a short bus journey into the city centre. Highly recommend staying here for a few days or more as everything was perfect.

  • We booked last minute. The host responded really quickly and made us feel at ease. Receiving the keys etc was very efficient and I liked how the host was in contact when needed, to my many questions. The flat we stayed in was in the city and was great as we could walk home. The flat itself is equipped with everything you need. I would stay again if I was in glasgow. :-)

    Julie2015-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was very clean and there were also extra bed and bedsheets arranged for the 3rd person in the group who was accompanying us. There was some confusion about the time of arrival as we were going to arrive late at 11pm and we had to pay 5GBP/hour extra for arriving 3 hours after 8pm. This information was not mentioned by Airbnb in their main page. Apart from this, the stay was wonderful!

  • Really nice place, bathroom and bedroom very modern comfy bed and relaxing jacuzzi bathtub. Hosts very friendly and helpful, would stay again.

Good size bedroom with one double bed and private bathroom in comfortable, contemporary home. Enjoy the beautiful Scottish countryside, including the West Highland Way, but also have easy access by train (25 minutes) to the vibrant city centre.
Relaxed, contemporary home in lovely, open residential street. Well-travelled hosts who enjoy meeting people. Transport from Milngavie railway station if required. Tea/coffee and home-baking. A light breakfast of cereal/porridge, toast and preserves is available. Washer/dryer facilities available for a small fee.
Locals refer to Milngavie as "the Village". It has the feel of a village, with a pedestrianised shopping precinct, including food shops, pharmacies, coffee shops and pubs, clothes shops, gift shops, jewellers, galleries etc. There are also the usual medical services, doctors, optician etc. There is a Marks and Spencer and a Waitrose. There are also lovely walks locally, one of the favourites being around Craigmaddie Reservoir, which provides the water supply for the area. It is, of course, the start/finish point for the West Highland Way. Milngavie gives the best of both worlds, being on the edge of the country and yet less than half an hour by train from the city centre. There are also direct trains to the centre of Edinburgh, a journey of one and a half hours.
  • First time using AirBnB and to be honest didn't know what to expect. However Christine and Findlay both made me feel at home and welcome. Very easy going and relaxed stay in a spotless and lovely home. Breakfast was spot on with fantastic coffee!! I'll be back for certain.

  • Christine was the perfect host. Communication prior to and about our arrival went well. The bedroom and nearby bathroom were cozy and spotlessly clean. We were allowed use of the kitchen and Christine made us an excellent breakfast prior to our departing for the WHW. Thank you, Christine, for a great start into an amazing vacation.

Everything was very clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for starting the West Highland Way.

  • We had a fabulous weekend in Milngavie - the house is lovely, spacious and ideally situated. It has lots of room so is perfect for big groups. The garden is also a lovely area. Chris is a very welcoming and helpful host - thanks for a great weekend!

    Lucy2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly exceptional property. We traveled from California and Chris was very accommodating with our ever changing arrival time. The property was just as described, and was perfect for my family as well as the other guests that joined us. The garden was a huge hit (the treehouse especially) with my young girls and being walled gave us peace of mind. The local shops were just 5 minutes walk away and the station just a minute further made day trips into Glasgow a very easy proposition. I can't recommend this property highly enough. Even check-out was a breeze thanks to Chris anticipating our needs.

    Nick2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment I booked this Airbnb, our host, Chris was great. He was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. He was very accommodating and went out of his way to make sure my family and I had everything we needed. It was a great location for a large family to stay and I would definitely recommend it for anyone visiting Milngavie, Glasgow, or Loch Lomond area.

  • It was such an amazing experience staying in Milngavie. and we are well treated by the host. Very calm, quite and secure area only 20minutes drive to Glasgow city. Very clean and plenty of space for 14 people and area for children's to play. We really enjoyed our stay and just want say thank you to Chris.

    Tomy2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • A group of 8 of us stayed at this house for a weekend of walking at nearby Loch Lomand. Chris (the owner) made us feel very welcome and had the house clean and ready for our arrival. I'd like to recognise that his additional effort here was much appreciated, as he'd had a change of situation with the previous guests in the house but worked solidly to make sure our reservation could be honoured and to get the place ready for our weekend. There was also a welcome package with milk, home made bread, marmalade, tea etc.. which was much appreciated and a lovely addition. Chris can provide local information on activities and places to eat if you need. The village centre of Milngavie is only a couple of minutes walk away and there are several big supermarkets close by too. The street the house is located on is very quiet and there's a big garden to make use of when the weather permits! So we had a great weekend and the house was everything we expected and needed. We'd happily return for another visit.

  • We had a great stay ! Chris was flexible and welcoming, we arrived earlier than expected and still could get into the house without any issues. Chris was helpful with tips where to go and what to do. The house is nice, lots of space for everyone, host even welcomed us with home made bread and marmalade ! We came to Scotland to celebrate my mother in-law's birthday and on the day Chris and his wife surprised us with a delicious home made chocolate cake for her birthday, WOW. Highly recommended and should we go back to Scotland we will definitely book this house again ! Thank you Chris for a wonderful stay !

    Miri2016-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Chris' place is truly a gem. Located in a very good area with access to the lakes, Glasgow city and Edinburgh, Chris' guest house can easily accommodate up to 20 guests. We were very grateful and thankful to have such a great and warm host who made us feel at home on the first day we arrive. We knew we could approach Chris at anytime and he would always be helpful. I would definitely recommend Chris' place to anyone visiting Glasgow with a big group.

    Prashaan2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • A big thanks to Chris for making every effort to make our trip and stay comfortable. The villa was a great place to stay with your family and friends. It is very near from Milngavie station. You will find all necessary things near by. There are a lot of things to engage your little ones, a tree house, lot of toys, a big garden for kids to play. All in all it was a life time experience for us and we would recommend others also, specially if you have a big group of people with you.
