  • Beautiful historic house and in a charming area, it was a very good place to stay, and felt exactly like what an airbnb should be like.

  • Shannon's house is a hidden gem. An amazing older house is a warm retreat a stones throw from Hudson and not too far from New York City. Shannon was an amazing host and offered a nice breakfast, coffee, and tea as well as pointers and recommendations around the area. Would love to come back and would highly recommend a stay here to anyone.

    Joshua2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Shannon's place was lovely - very cozy bed with wonderful crisp cotton sheets - charming house, perfectly clean. I took a long soak in the tub with eucalyptus and a candle. I would definitely return.

  • Very cool vintage and cute home. Quiet, clean, and relaxing. Two cute pups. Very friendly and helpful host! 10/10

  • I spent relaxing 2 nights at the house. Shannon was an excellent host. She was super responsive and accommodating. I loved the historic characteristics of the remodelled house and the beautiful, lush & colorful front porch garden. I felt recharged and relaxed after the weekend. Highly recommended!

This lovely two-story 1800s apartment located in a quiet hamlet is 5 miles from the wonderful, historic village of Chatham, NY, and halfway between Hudson and the Berkshires. Close to cultural events and skiing while offering a calm setting in rural Columbia County.
Freshly painted and renovated, the apartment is the original part of the house and has hard wood floors, exposed beams, wainscoting, and low ceilings. Contemporary features include wifi and a flat-screen “smart” TV with free access to Directv (500+ channels), Netflix, Amazon Prime instant video, and multiple TV apps. Living room with dining area. Full kitchen and dishwasher. Main bedroom on ground floor with queen-sized bed (comfortable, new linens). Small bedroom with twin bed on second floor with air conditioner. Cool in summer and warm in winter with propane heater and electric heat backup. Coffee and tea provided plus other supplies in fridge. Good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. We welcome older children; parents need to bring a portable crib for infants.
The immediate neighborhood is very quiet (you will hear the train go by, but we like the sound). Post office, wine shop, and home furnishings/antiques store nearby. The village of Chatham (10-minute drive) is unique with a historic Main Street full of shops and eateries, pub and microbrewery, independent bookstore, independent movie theater showing first-run and foreign films, yoga center, and signature clock tower. The week-long film festival FilmColumbia occurs in October. Five minutes away is the beautiful, peaceful Ooms Conservation area at Sutherland Pond. Other Columbia Land Conservancy areas are nearby – wonderful with trails for walking, contemplation, and scenic views.
  • We enjoyed every minute of our three-day stay at Sweet Hamlet Apartment. The apartment was clean, comfortable and we felt right at home. When we arrived, fresh fruit was on the kitchen counter and the fixings for breakfast were in the refrigerator. We loved sitting on our private porch in the red rocking chairs, with a glass of wine and planning our next day’s activities. Our hosts were friendly, considerate and available to answer any questions or concerns. We usually stay in hotels when we travel, Sweet Hamlet Apartment was a refreshing and delightful change.

  • As my girlfriend and I said afterward, "this place has everything!" Rebecca is an incredible host, and her apartment is absolutely beautiful. It's cozy, warm, and inviting, and we felt honestly right at home there. Rebecca included all the basics for a nice breakfast, and we enjoyed just spending time here. I would absolutely stay here again.

    Bryan2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean cottage/apartment with everything you need. Great host. Highly recommend. Thank you Rebecca!

    Brad2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca's apartment was lovely, and we really enjoyed our stay there. Exceptionally clean, well appointed, cozy, and quiet. Rebecca was easily accessible, and check in/out were a breeze. We were in the area for one night to attend a concert at Tanglewood, which was about 20 minutes away by car. We would happily recommend Rebecca's apartment to the airbnb community - and we hope to visit again ourselves!

    Theresa2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca was a lovely host. Her guest apartment was clean, cozy, and warm! The location was terrific for our sightseeing adventures and was near the town center with a brewery, several restaurants, and shops.

    Renee2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Great hosts. Great location.

    Joanne2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect stay - close to Great Barrington, great restaurants and shops in Old Chatham, and plenty of space on the outside porch for some quiet rest and relaxation. This place is nestled on a side street with charming art, delicious fruit ready for us to eat when we checked in, all of the accoutrements you would need to prepare a meal in the kitchen, comfy beds and a cozy couch to relax on. We loved it, would highly recommend!

    Lauren2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Such a dreamy and comfortable private place in a wondrous corner of the world! Fell in love with/in with the sweet little Hamlet. Thank you Rebecca for such an enjoyable, smooth, and easy-going stay!

    Sweet Hamlet Apartment

If you are looking for a unique place to stay, this is it! A modern house in-the-round with peaceful and quiet surroundings, it is located on 15 acres. A perfect nature retreat.
The whole house has 3000 square feet of living area, 1000 square feet of multi level decks, oak flooring throughout. We are environmentally and health conscious, non smokers. The room itself can be used for one, two or three guests. There is a double bed and a single bed that can either be put together for a king size bed or separated to accommodate a couple and a child. If needed, a single futon could be added to the room to accommodate two children.
We live in the country in the historic Hamlet of New Concord (part of East Chatham). People are very friendly and it is completely safe to walk or bike in the neighborhood at any time of day or night. We are 7 minutes from the quaint village of Chatham which has numerous restaurants, interesting shops, summer theaters, cinema, bowling alley, health food store, yoga center, major grocery store, drug store, microbrewery and a lot of charm.
  • Teshna and her family were very helpful and friendly! We enjoyed our stay with them.

    Martha2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical time we had at Teshna's. From the moment we stepped out of the car, we could feel it. The quiet, the sounds of nature, and the energy of the home were wonderful! We immediately felt comfortable. The land is beautiful, the house is beautiful, and they are beautiful people who made us feel at home. There was another guest staying in the tower room, so we got the other bedroom. She put two beds together for us so we would have a king size, which was wonderful! There is a balcony off the room, so in the morning I sat out there, meditated a little, watched the birds, the sun shining through the beautiful pine trees and started the day off right! Can't wait to come back!

    Landis & Kim2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely LOVED staying here!! What wonderful hosts! Teshna's house is whimsical and magical and warm and welcoming. What a fantastic visit! I can't wait to go back and visit again :)

  • This unique country home is located in a charming hamlet and a close drive to the cute town of Chatham. We were warmly welcomed, had a comfortable and quiet stay, and really enjoyed being able to use their tennis court in the woods!

    Lynn2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • The house has a unique character and my family absolutely loved staying here. Everyone in the house was very respectful and hospitable. It was a definite pleasure to have had the opportunity to stay here. I highly recommend the place and hope to visit it again.

    Japneet2017-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful and unique home. Our stay was made even more enjoyable in the company of our friendly hosts, Teshna and David. My wife and I decided to take an evening away from our busy lives, leave the baby with grandma, and explore a new town and surroundings. You can easily see the beauty and grace of the home from the photos, but should also know the conversations with the home owners was the highlight of our stay. Our room was so cozy and the grand bathroom made us feel like we were in 5 star resort style accommodations. I can highly recommend a stay here.

    Stephen2015-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful unique home. Clean and quiet. Her home is close to town. Host, Teshna, is very responsive. We would love to come back again.

    Sujarit2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Teshna and David are warm, interesting, and hospitable hosts to a comfortable and unique home in an idyllic setting. Unfortunately our stay was during a time of year when we were unable to make use of any of the extra amenities and might suggest that the room rate be lowered during similar times of the year. Teshna went out of her way before I arrived, and again as a follow up upon return home, to arrange for certain therapeutic treatments for my serious cervical pain and stenosis. For this I am most grateful.

Welcome to The Barn - a great country house with mountain views and plenty of space to spread out. Enjoy dining on the back deck, roasting marshmallows, playing records and generally unwinding to the sounds of crickets. The house is gorgeous and chill.
The Barn, built by a local builder in 2005, has three en suite bathrooms, a large open kitchen/living room, stone fireplace and a great loft area for tv watching and book reading. The beds are covered in pillows and the built in living room shelves house books, records, games and cards. The house is meant for unwinding.
The house is in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by pastures and open fields, between Hudson and wonderful Chatham. It's just 25 minutes to Hudson, 20 min to Thomas Cole's Olana, 25 minutes to Great Barrington and Lenox (Tanglewood, Shakespeare & Co, Kripalu), and 40 minutes to Stockbridge There are also several golf courses, small ski resorts, spas, organic farms, and hiking and conservation areas very nearby.
  • I could not recommend this property more strongly. We have stayed in Airbnbs around the world and right down the road from this house, and this property is the best we have seen. Great indoor and outdoor space, beautiful inside and out, well-appointed, helpful hosts. We had a great time as a couple with two kids, as there was plenty of room and great hanging out and entertaining space.

    Machua2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn is a secluded vacation home within reaching distance of the city, but far enough away that one can hear only silence and see stars in the night sky. The decor inside is very tasteful, and the home was very liveable during my and my friends' stay here. There is plenty of things to do outside of the home to unwind and decompress. I hope many people stay here in the future and enjoy the space Carolyn's created.

    Frank2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • ¨The Barn¨ was the perfect home away from home to enjoy a vacation with our adult children. The photos do not capture the beauty of the home and outdoor fields and views. Everything you possibly need is provided. Even though the house is secluded it is only 15 minutes from quality restaurants and shops. The Barn is a perfect haven to relax and rejuvenate.

    Annamaria2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect weekend getaway ! the house is beautiful and clean. The outdoors are breathtaking! Thank you so much !

    Selma2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This home is a fabulous update of a barn design, wooden pegged beams, open spaces, yet modern conveniences, kitchen, bathrooms, anything you want. The setting is serene, down to the fireflies that light up the night. Easy drives to walks, attractions, and restaurants. It was perfect for college friends to catch up, relax, and wish we could stay longer.

    Sheryl2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The house is absolutely beautiful - we fell in love as soon as we saw it! Carolyn and Evan are excellent communicators and made everything easy to book and find once we arrived. If you are looking to stay near the Hudson Valley I would highly recommend staying in their home. We had more than enough space for four couples (even if one of them did join last minute!) with three large bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms, and a large open floor plan common space and deck. I hope we can visit again soon!

    Courtney2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of my favorite AirBnbs of all time! The view is beautiful and the home is cozy and modern. It's down a lovely dirt road, giving it ideal privacy and the town of Chatham has a lot to offer. I would love to visit again!

    Jade2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Carolyn & Evan's barn is gorgeous. It sits on a beautiful field and you can see the Catskills from the front porch. It is very comfortable and the furniture, linens & beds are fantastic. Everything was all set up for us when we arrived. We drove to all the fun towns in the area. Chatham, Ghent, Hudson, Hillsdale and even down to Millerton. Highly recommended. We hope to go back!

Big bedroom with queen size bed in 3-bedroom village home. 20 minutes to Tanglewood (the back way = no traffic!), 30 minutes to Hudson, 35 minutes to Albany. Close to so much summer fun. You'll have access to the whole house, except for the other bedrooms. Make a meal in the open kitchen, relax in the living room, soak in some sun on the back deck, have coffee on the front porch, lounge in the green, green yard.
Among Columbia County's many charms are its villages and hamlets separated by country roads and rolling, green hills. Village life here is peaceful and safe. There is a lot of good food and drink and plenty of cultural activities to take in.
  • Shannon is a wonderful host. Her place is super cute, clean, bright and thoughtful. It is in close proximity to Chatham where we were visiting. Andy and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

  • A special place. We booked on a whim, but stumbled on a real gem. Shannon is a great host, and warm, generous person. The house is full of character and charm. Very comfortable, great light, plenty of space to relax (multiple porches and a large common space inside). We hope to return!

Our lovely 1930's bungalow is nestled between the spectacular Berkshires and the Hudson River Valley. Close to hiking, antiquing, wine, skiing, restaurants and more. Just 20 miles from Hudson, 15 mi from Tanglewood.
We have two bedrooms with queen size beds, a queen size sofa bed in the living room, plus a cozy office that makes a perfect spot for an air mattress. You can sleep up to 8 people comfortably. Please note that the short staircase to the second floor is quite steep and could present an issue for children or anyone with mobility issues.
We are close to everything, but away from it all! Close to adorable towns, places to swim and hike, but also secluded. The train runs nearby, so be prepared for that. They don't blow the horn near us, but you can hear it passing by. We love it!
  • What a lovely experience! My friends and I were welcomed by a sweet card and bottle of wine from Domenique when we arrived. The house was so charming and the perfect weekend getaway! The area was beautiful, especially this time a year with the fall leaves. Domenique was so helpful and gave us some great tips on things to do while visiting. I miss it already!

    Melissa2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Domenique left very thorough information in a charming little booklet in the house. The house easily accommodated everyone. We loved cooking in the kitchen, listening to music on the speakers, and most of all, hanging out by the fire pit in the backyard. The town of Chatham was perfect for drinks and local-townie flair.

    Doug2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our fall weekend exploring Upstate NY & the Berkshires thanks to Domenique's hospitality. The house was cozy and relaxing and comfortable. Domenique was super helpful with last minute requests. We ate one of the best meals of our lives at La Flammerie in Kinderhook, a spot we probably would've overlooked had it not been for Domenique's timely recommendation. She's a great hostess!

  • Lovely cottage!

    Grace2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend at the Charming Berkshires Bungalow! We went up for a girl's weekend of relaxing and antiquing. There were plenty of extra blankets and pillows for comfort and warmth. Also the hosts leave a basket of slippers for guests to use which is so sweet. The pillow out couch is super comfortable! We were a bit intimidated by the convection oven but the hosts left the instruction manual and a little guide book for us which was very helpful! There is a large backyard and a firepit! It is barely 5 minutes off the Taconic so it is super easy to get too. The town of Chatham is small and cute with a few places to grab food and the Price Chopper is 24hours which is also awesome. Highly recommend an afternoon trip to the Coxsackie Antique Center - about 25 mins away and so worth it! All and all, it was a great weekend in a great house!

    Julia2015-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • a great cabin in a charming town! communication was very prompt, check in was so easy, and the whole house was cleaned before my arrival. there is so much to explore in the berkshires, I will definitely be back!

    Matthew2016-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Four of us, all in our early to mid-30s, stayed here for two nights to attend a wedding. The house is clearly well-loved, with a lot of thoughtful touches that made the stay comfortable and relaxing. Make sure to spend some time in their backyard, as the garden is gorgeous! Communication was very easy and they responded quickly to any questions I had. The sulfur smell in the water can be hard to get used to, but the filter on the kitchen tap and bottled water did just fine for our group.

    Caitlin2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • The house was well kept, clean and very comfortable with rustic flair. We didn't meet Dominique but she was very responsive when we had few questions. We would definitely consider to stay there if in that area!

You will fall in love with our beautiful place, a 1790 farmhouse located in the Berkshire hills. It sits on 10 acres of wooded and grassy land. The large pond is perfect for sipping wine…or having your morning java by. We're close to Tanglewood (a 25 minute drive) as well as right down the road from Old Chatham center - a quaint old town with a fantastic general store (great gourmet food, a post office and a restaurant).
  • Charming and quiet location, perfect for our annual girlfriend getaway. Mark was an excellent host. We appreciated the welcome basket of wine, cheese and crackers, and all the breakfast goodies!

One of the most beautiful views in Columbia County. See the Catskills through the rolling hills of the valley from your bedroom porch! Fall is extraordinarily beautiful with the foliage changing colors and the abundant apples trees. Winter is perfect being cozy and sledding and snow shoe-ing (stored in the garage). Spring is gloriously green. Summertime is lovely and very close to all of the attractions of both Columbia county and the Berkshires!
2 bedroom renovated horse barn on a dirt road with 38 acres. The house is on four levels: enter the eat-in kitchen, a few stairs down to living room sunporch/ dining and half bath, up the first flight to a bedroom with a queen bed and full bath, a few more steps to a full bed with a pull out twin. With the architecture of the house, there is no door between the 3rd and 4th floors. The house has radiant heat, air conditioning, washer/dryer, dishwasher, outdoor shower, internet. Walk to the spring fed pond for a swim, follow the stream in the tree line for a lovely walk. 20-30 minutes to everything: Hudson, Great Barrington, Tanglewood, Shakespeare and co., Catamount, Jiminy Peak, Olana, The Mount, et al. Just under 2.5 hours from both NYC and Boston. There is a another barn that is also available for larger parties. It sleeps 6 (plus two with an air mattress). It also has a full kitchen, et al. It will only be rented out if interested in both. Please contact me for nightly fee and availability.

  • Amy's place was lovely and the property/area was beautiful! She was a wonderful host. Hope to go back sometime soon.

  • Amy was there to greet us and show us round her beautiful room inspite of very wet rain! Everything was as it should be and Amy was there if anything else was needed like the cork screw! Thank you for the hospitality.

    jane2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • I could not have asked for a better place to lay my head during an impromptu fall weekend getaway upstate to visit friends. Amy's incredible attention to detail made all the difference - from extra bathroom supplies at my disposal if necessary, to the coffee maker and bottled waters - it really made all the difference to make me feel extra welcome. The bedroom and bathroom were very clean, and there were fresh sheets and towels. Amy was also easily reachable and the access to and from the room was easy, with my own entrance. Thanks so much, Amy for your great hospitality - next time I go back to visit my friends in Chatham, I know where I'll be staying!

    Andrea2015-10-12T00:00:00Z

  • Amy's place was perfect - beautifully decorated and welcoming! Her place is spacious and clean and felt like home! The courtyard setting is so beautiful and peaceful! We thoroughly enjoyed talking to Amy and we loved her sweet dog:-) We would definitely stay again when we're in the Chatham area!

  • The room was clean, bright, and open. Amy supplied the room with a big basket full of amenities, a fridge stocked with water, and a coffee pot with fresh coffee grounds. It easily felt like home within minutes of arriving.

  • Amy was there to greet us, show us the room, and to introduce us to her Collie, a very friendly dog. The room is as advertised and then some - very pretty and welcoming, spotlessly clean and with a lovely bathroom, lots of storage. Wifi worked, which is important. The neighborhood is okay, a very pretty street - dirt, but a good road, and it's close to the towns 2 eating establishments, to breakfast was easy to find. It is close to the freeway, but you don't hear it inside the room.

    Fritz2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Mackinnon's place was incredible! Very charming with a lot of character! We really enjoyed the secluded-ness of the cabin but also that we were within an easy drive to some great restaurants in Great Barrington. Really cool place especially if you're going to Tanglewood!

    Jamie2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Mackinnon's place was just what we needed for our relaxing weekend out of the city! It was comfortable, clean, and in a beautiful, trees-y, quiet area. We loved sitting out on the porch watching a groundhog and several birds make their way around. It was also convenient to other fun things in the area - Jacob's Pillow and Tanglewood. Mackinnon was easy to communicate with and the place was as represented on the posting. We'd love to stay here again!

    Lisa2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Mackinnon's place. It is very very quiet and private, with great morning views out the windows of bedroom and living room. We took full advantage of the wood burning stove, even though it was warm during the daytime, but such a comforting feel and smell with a fire burning. The house is spotless and very well decorated. We'd love to come back and spend a little more time relaxing in the country side.

    Jesper2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very relaxing stay. Mackinnon was wonderful in communicating with us. She gave us oodles of privacy but was available if needed. She even offered us warm brownies fresh out of the oven!

We hope you'll enjoy our country getaway as much as we do! We are a 10 minute drive from "downtown" Chatham, about 30 minutes each from Catamount, Jiminy Peak, and Ski Butternut. Approximately 1:15 away are Hunter and Wyndham mountains. The busier town of Hudson is a 25 minute drive. Our dog and 1 cat use the property with us when we are there, and though we clean thoroughly, if you're highly allergic, we may not be a good choice.
Located on 6 quiet acres just outside of the town of Chatham, our home is great for entertaining a group, or just relaxing by the fire. The main level features a great room (with a vaulted ceiling and access to the deck, outdoor fireplace, and hot tub), a dining area, and an open (and fully stocked) kitchen. There is also a guest bathroom and very small office with daybed on this level (great for a teenager or unfussy single adult). The main sleeping areas are located above (master) and below (guest) the main living area, and sleeping arrangements are outlined below: - Master suite upstairs: King bed + daybed with trundle (4 people max). Also a full bathroom with jetted soaking tub and separate shower. - Guest bedroom on lowest level: Full bed + pull-out twin (3 people max) - Office on main level: Daybed for one - Queen airbed also available - 5 Guests max. Each additional guest over age 12 = $50 **Please note: the upstairs and downstairs sleeping areas are on their own floors, but without doors to close them off. If you have small children, you will need to bring baby gates.
If you are looking for a true escape from civilization, but desire all the creature comforts, you've found your place. You'll hear nothing but the occasional animal sounds; if we hear more than a dozen cars a day, we call it "traffic". The house is fully stocked, but if you need more, a proper town is just a 10 minute drive away.
  • Brian and Leslie were very responsive to any questions we had. House is a great place to stay, very relaxing. Would visit again!

  • A very peaceful location and house! Everything was very clean and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

    Claire2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home! Such a pleasant stay with all amenities necessary to enjoy a city escape.

    Steven2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • I was looking for a place to stay in the Berkshires and found the summer rates for hotels to be pretty high. We ended up staying at Leslie and Brian's place which is over the NY state line but just a bit more than 20 minutes to Stockbridge, MA. It's a little out of the way but what a great little house! Comfortable, spacious, modern, great looking with all the conveniences. We felt it was well worth a little bit of extra driving to have such a nice, and reasonable for the area, place to stay. We would definitely stay there again. Highly recommend.

    Barbara2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Leslie and Brian's house is lovely! We had such a relaxing stay. The beds were amazingly comfortable with soft and warm blankets. We loved utilizing the kitchen which is perfectly stocked with all of the tools necessary for making a meal. There is a lot of character and charm to the house. We loved the wood ceilings and the gorgeous natural light.

    Mamie2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Leslie and Brian's place is wonderful. Lots of space, very clean, and comfortable. Leslie and Brian are great hosts all of the communication was well detailed and answered questions I didn't even think to ask.

    Gary2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Leslie and Brian have created a beautiful, peaceful and comfortable place to stay in the gorgeous Berkshires. I and 4 friends had the pleasure of staying there on the 4th of July. Since we went to see James Taylor perform at Tanglewood (a short country drive away) we weren't able to spend as much time as we wanted to spend at the house, so we may go back again soon. The open and airy floor plan in the living room and kitchen was so inviting, the beds very comfortable and a dip in the hot tub - which we used as a cool tub - was a delightful way to start our morning. There is a surprising and artful "deer head" on the wall in the living room made from what appears to be cardboard. The furniture is just lovely and some appear to be family heirlooms and antiques. There's an amazing shower and huge bathtub off the master bedroom, which again, we weren't able to enjoy due to time constraints. The yard at this time of year is so green and birds abound. We ate our meals at the table on the deck under a lovely pergola. This was just a beautiful and private escape. The driveway is a steep incline and easy to pass if you're not paying close attention, but being up high is what adds to its privacy. It was really easy to communicate with Leslie and Brian before and during our stay and their instructions were clear and easy to follow. I'm looking forward to our next trip there! Thank you!

    Joanne 2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time. It was a quiet place to relax with friends and bring our dog with us. It was close to town and other attractions in the Berkshires. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. The owners promptly responded to our needs.

1820 farmhouse on 12 acres, surrounded by conservancy land. Close to Tanglewood, Jiminy Peak, Saratoga, Williamstown, Gt Barrington & Hudson. Artfully restored three story house with huge, well-stocked kitchen with wood stove, antique dining room and huge living room with stone fireplace. Three bedrooms upstairs and Bunkroom downstairs with direct garden access. Dining and lounging patio outside, overlooking our property.
Welcome to our home. When we first laid eyes on this rambling, utterly charming Farmhouse (originally built in 1820) we were smitten immediately. Set on 12 acres on a dirt road, and surrounded by 500 acres of Conservancy land, you are very much in the country and able to completely relax. But you’re not too far from anything: 10 minutes to Chatham, 30 minutes to Great Barrington, 25 minutes to Tanglewood and Kripalu, 45 minutes from Saratoga and Williamstown. If nature’s your thing, just walk outside: hiking trails abound right from our front door, as do winter snowshoeing and cross country skiing opportunities. The swimming pond and more hiking trails are just up the road. Our streams lend a beautiful peaceful sound to the air, our patio is a great outdoor dining and lounging area and our back hill is the perfect picnic spot. Inside the house, you will be surrounded by comfort, history and art in the space we've restored with our own hands. The huge country kitchen is a natural gathering spot, and in winter the wood stove makes it super cozy. It is a serious cook's kitchen, so you will have every implement you could need as well as a well-stocked pantry. The dining room is full of art. The den is equally sprawling, with huge leather sofa that’s great for reading or watching TV, playing games (we have so many) or enjoying the fire in the fireplace. There is a gorgeous marble tiled full bath on the main floor. The 3 bedrooms upstairs sleep 7, with a full bath between them. Beadboard ceilings and antique beds add to the farmhouse feel. The downstairs, with its entrance to the garden, we call the “bunkroom.” It sleeps 6 and has a beautiful slate bath, Foosball table and wood stove. Enjoy a meal out on the back patio, or lounge in the comfy chaises on the lawn. We guarantee folks will be fighting over the hammock strung between 2 trees right up from the stream.
We are on a dirt road, so it is super quiet, and you can easily walk/run on the road and beyond. We are a quick walk to a Conservation area with pond, hiking trails and picnic tables. Our nearest town is Chatham (a short drive), with a great bookstore, cheese shop, a vintage movie theatre, wine shop and several great restaurants.
  • Bret's farmhouse was perfect for our group of 9. While cozy, it had plenty of room, and the living room/great room was ideal for hanging out in front of the fire place. Bret was very responsive, which made for a great trip. I highly recommend it!

    Alex2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic location! It’s quite rare to find a property which is so easy to get to, but has nearly zero road noise or any other kind of noise. It was incredibly peaceful with 2 large tracks of lawn and plenty of outdoor space. The bathrooms were nicely renovated and the kitchen was fantastic with all the cookware, tools and tableware you would need for entertaining. The farmhouse itself is huge, comfortable and well taken care of; though the outdoor areas and furniture are a bit more rustic.

    Gregory2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time in Bret's secluded house. We stayed for 2 weeks and had plenty of time to explore. The property is beautiful: there is plenty of space to walk, lounge, dance or run around or observe the variety of trees, wild flowers and humming birds!!! The kitchen is wonderful and well equipped for the serious cooks like us. The bathrooms are updated as described. But most importantly, the outdoor space was awesome for all of our meals. Bret is a great friendly host and is quick and effective communicator to answer all the questions or issues. The Joe pond is nearby and we really enjoyed it for swimming and walking and even painting, there is a beautiful 20 minute walk to reach the pond. We also went to nearby farms for vegetable, fruits and berry picking. We took trips to a few sculpture parks in the area - all 15 -20 minutes away. We also went to a few nearby lakes, and Philmont area High Falls, and even to North Adam's Mass Moca. If you are like us in love with green rolling hills of Columbia county, that is an ideal place to stay. Thank you, Bret!

  • This is a wonderful and inviting place to stay. We are hoping to come back again in the future!!

    Shelley2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • The large country kitchen is a dream with a wonderful gas stove, well equipped cupboards, a good dishwasher, and lots of table space for a group like ours with four children (age 10 to 13) and seven adults. The downstairs room accommodated the children perfectly. There is lots of landscape to explore and to soothe the eyes. In our case, its proximity to Tanglewood and to good restaurants was a great bonus. If I were pressed to find a weakness, it would be the lack of truly comfortable chairs for reading in the living room, but we really did not spend much time reading.

  • Bret's farmhouse is the perfect place to get away. The house is set on such a spacious, quiet and beautiful property that you'd never know you're only ten minutes from I-90. The yard is ideal for bocci, frisbee, or croquet, and with a backyard patio complete with a grill, this house is perfect for groups who enjoy the outdoors. Bret is an accommodating and thoughtful host, and was available to answer any questions during our stay. Thanks again, Bret!

Our property also has a great hill for sledding! Summer visitors will enjoy swimming at the family friendly members-only beach on Queechy Lake or hiking the trails in the Schorr Conservation Area (adjacent to our property) or climbing the fire tower in Beebe Hill State Forest for 360-degree views. Located in the hamlet of East Chatham, NY (Columbia County) just minutes from the Massachusetts border, the house is just 10 minutes from the village of Chatham - an 1800s town with its historic main street of restaurants, restored 1920s movie theater, cheese shop, yoga studio, independent bookstore, and knitting store. The house is 10 minutes away from a terrific 24-hour grocery store, food co-op with local/organic products, and a few different farm stores with incredible year-round produce, meat, and the best apple cider donuts anywhere! We're happy to recommend our favorite local spots - just ask!
  • We had an absolutely wonderful weekend at Jenny's house! The house itself is great with wood floods and lots of windows highlighting the beautiful woods in which the house sits. The living room is cozy, the kitchen full of fun appliances to cook with and the beds are unbelievably comfortable. My 5 and 1 year old nieces were part of the crew and Jenny not only provided a pack-and-play but lots of toys. The location was great for us as our half of our group lives in Boston and the other in NYC, it was between 2 and 2.5 hour for both (without traffic). Jenny was very helpful and responsive as we were organizing the weekend. I mentioned that we were looking to go hiking and she sent a long list of places in the area that might interest us. Upon arrival we also found an amazing packet of information about where to get the best of everything- think apple cider donuts, cheese, bread, local veggies, etc. It's clear that Jenny and her family love being able to sneak out to East Chatham and want their guests to enjoy the their time there as much as they do. We really appreciated their kindness and hospitality and would highly recommend renting this house to anyone.

    Eliza2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • It was great staying at Jenny's place while I was in the area for a wedding. The house is spectacular, and everything totally matched the description. I would highly recommend this location to anyone seeking some peace and solitude without being too far from all the necessary amenities. Jenny was responsive throughout the whole process and a pleasure to interact with.

  • We were looking for a quiet, secluded home that was close enough to Stockbridge to do sight seeing. Jenny's was the perfect place for us!

    Ralph2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time at Jenny's house and we hope to keep coming back. The house is great for kids, which means it's great for the kids' adults, too :) From the play area to the bath toys to the step stools by the sinks, everything is in place to make a visit with kids easy and enjoyable. Our gang loves playing on the grass, throwing stones in the stream, taking walks down the drive, making a fire, grilling, and just hanging. Thanks to Jenny and her family for making our posse feel so at home in their home.

  • We had a perfect week in Jenny's comfortable and family-friendly home in East Chatham. First of all, the kitchen is equipped for a chef/baker. There is every tool/gadget one might need to cook/bake. It was impressive! The home is cozy and warm. We spent our nights by the fire playing board games. It was a week where we were really able to reconnect as a family and the home really lends itself to that type of experience. There are lots of toys and games for the kids, the large dining table seats 6 very comfortably for family meals, the kitchen in a joy to prepare food in, and the grounds are just gorgeous. We went sledding in the backyard as there was a lot of snow on the ground when we arrived. Towards the end of the week when the snow was melted we took walks and hung out on the beautiful deck. The beds are incredibly comfortable and we slept soundly as it is very quiet. Jiminy Peak is a 20 minute drive and the town of Chatham is about 15 minutes aways. Great shops and a few cute restaurants in town. Jenny was extremely responsive and accommodating. We will definitely go back!

    Kristen2017-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We rented Jenny's home to attend a nearby wedding in Old Chatham. We had a great stay and would have enjoyed spending time there for just the weekend. Jenny leaves detailed notes with recommendations for thing to do nearby. If we had more time, we would have loved to explore the area a bit more. Overall, everything was wonderful and Jenny was clear and prompt in all her communications.

    Karolyn2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this house for a fall weekend trip with a few friends meeting up from different cities. Could not have asked for a better spot - we really had a whole area to ourselves and the autumn leaves were amazing! Short drives to pickup a few local essentials and hikes. Inside - the beds and furniture are comfy, the kitchen very well equipped, and there's a GREAT cookbook collection to brainstorm from. Jenny was very responsive to all of my questions before, during, and after the stay. Definitely recommended!

My place is close to art and culture, great views, parks, and the airport. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space, the ambiance, the neighborhood, and the comfy bed. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
140 year old Victorian Farmhouse in quaint village of Old Chatham. Centrally located for all Hudson Valley and Berkshire activities. Walking distance to Old Chatham Country Store for breakfast or lunch and Jackson's Old Chatham House for dining, banquet facilities and tavern.
Peaceful village in a country setting.
  • This was the first Christmas Eve/morning my daughter and I did not spend at home. Alayne made her home festive and our holiday was a little brighter because of it. Gracious and accommodating as always, our time was pleasant and 'merry'.

    Lori2016-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Alayne was incredibly helpful with our accommodation for a wedding nearby, we had great instructions and detail to find the house. We couldn't have asked for better. Thank you!

    Daniel2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very old and has tons of charm which is what we were looking for. Alayne left some literature about the House in the formal living room which was really cool to read and learn. We didn’t get to enjoy the house as we would have liked because with 3 small kids we spent morning till night enjoying the beauty and history of the town so we didn’t stay in the house during the day. There’s a lot to do and see in Old Chatham. The House was comfortable, loved the WiFi and Apple TV (my kiddos really loved it! Lol).It was nice to relax and unwind in the living room watching tv together for an hour before bed time after walking all day. The only thing that surprised me was the water it’s hard water so you can’t cook or drink it and you’ll see how the water has affected the water fixtures in the kitchen and bathrooms. She did leave several containers of water for the water cooler so you could use that. We didn’t use the kitchen because the house is down the road from a couple of restaurants so we ate out. I wished that the bathrooms were a little cleaner not sure if she pays someone to clean the house and they skipped the bathroom but the toilet on the top floor was clean it’s just the hard water stains that you’ll see. The bottom bathroom toilet was overlooked. Back to the town, the house is secluded yet has houses very near by which is something I personally loved. The house is close to a highway and it’s not quiet but again that’s something I’m used to and it doesn’t bother me at all. The neighboring towns are wonderful we visited Martin Van Burens Home, we did some hiking in a preserve in Kinderhook, some antique shopping on Main Street and we got to enjoy the local restaurants. Alayne is an excellent communicator she sent me a detailed message explaining the functions of the House overall we enjoyed a relaxing stay.

    Elena2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Alayne's house is very comfortable and spacious, with a pretty backyard and conveniently located in a friendly neighborhood. The only drawback to the location is road noise from the nearby highway. The kitchen was well equipped and Alayne supplied us with coffee, teas and plenty of spices and condiments. We had difficulty with the dishwasher, it frequently popped open and had to be reshut during the cycle. The tap water has a smell of sulphur and is not good for drinking; we found it somewhat unpleasant for showering and did not want to take a bath in it. Alayne supplied drinking water in a cooler, which lasted for most of our stay. The house was not properly cleaned before our stay due to a miscommunication between Alayne and her cleaning person but I expect that this will be corrected before the next guest arrives. We had a problem with some of the electricity going off in two of the rooms of the house but this was fixed the next day. Alayne was very responsive to our concerns and tried to make our stay as good as possible. On balance, we enjoyed our stay in this house pretty well. ,

    sara2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful and charming home. Alayne is so accommodating and communicates promptly and constantly.

    Winifred2017-05-21T00:00:00Z

  • This is a brilliant, quiet place to get away from the city. Our group of six friends had a wonderful time chilling in the house, cooking using the great well-stocked kitchen, and taking a dip in the pool on site. Chatham has a nice brewery and a big supermarket, just 15 mins away, so everything was really easy. We had a little issue getting the hot water going, but Zack was really helpful and quick to respond to sort it out over the phone. Thanks Zack!

If you are really into getting away from it all, and you have all the gear to tent camp, this is for you. I have 14 acres in Upstate NY, a few miles from the Mass Border. Very close to the Berkshires. You can pitch your tent, have a camp fire...
So if you like the outdoors...I mean really roughing it, this could be for you. There is fishing and hunting close by. Bring a kayak use my canoe up at the lake. You need to be in pretty good shape for this place. There is lots of walking to get to the site.
The immediate neighbor is in Law Enforcement so there is no vandalism even though it is very secluded.
  • My sister and I had a great time camping in Craig's property. He was very responsive and helpful in getting us to the location and secure in the spot. He also helped us connect with locals at the near by lake for a day of kayaking and swimming. If you are a fan of the outdoors and camping this is a great spot for that! Will be back again.

  • The house and property were beautiful! We couldn’t believe how great it was, as it was even better than the pictures depicted. We were so lucky to have had amazing weather and were able to enjoy the sunset every evening of our stay, as well as the deer in the lower fielded area. The house was very large and never felt crowded; in part because the bedrooms are all very separate from each other, which allowed for privacy at night. The deck was a great place to enjoy dinner and the sunset. Lynn and Rob, the caretakers were very warm and welcoming, but also gave us complete privacy during our stay. The property was very quiet and relaxing, but easily accessible to the highway and other towns as well. It was the perfect spot for our getaway! Thank you so much Adam for opening your home so we had this opportunity.

  • Love this home and location. And I can honestly say the pictures don't do it justice. Not only is th view stunning, and the property peaceful and but the house is clean and the beds are comfortable. We were looking for a place to hang out with our family and reconnect and this place proved to be perfect. I highly recommend this If you are looking for a peaceful vacation with amazing views.

  • This is my second time at Adam's house. The house is absolutely amazing. The views are stunning, and the house is very well kept and clean. Adam is a great host and made sure that we had everything we needed for the weekend. He provided us with easy directions to the house along with the nearby grocery stores and restaurants. I would highly recommend Adam and his house to anyone.

  • The house and property are beautiful with views that never end. Easy to get to, easy to get in and very comfortable. A few things weren't entirely awesome. First off, and no fault of the owners, is don't expect the television to work if there is any weather. Wind, clouds, etc. and you don't get any signal from DISH. Not the end of the world but a bit of a bummer. This also seem to effect the broadband as we were unable to connect whenever the TV was streaming a video on netflix. There also are a lot of ladybugs. The caretakers did come and clean them up the next day but my daughter wouldn't sleep in the upstairs bedroom as there were dozens of ladybugs, mostly dead, on the floor. Finally, although the house is huge and spread out, don't expect any privacy in the bedrooms. You can hear whoever is in the room above or below you as though they are in your room themselves. Overall, not a bad experience. Definitely beautiful and the host was very responsive and accommodating. However, for the price-point paid in the off season my expectations were a bit higher.

  • My friends and I had a wonderful time at Adam's home in Old Chatham. Firstly, the property is massive and well taken care of. The house itself is impeccable, thoughtfully laid out, and very spacious. The 8 of us had plenty of room/couches to sleep on. We especially loved the huge kitchen and deck, where we could all congregate and spend lots of time together. Lynn, the caretaker was very sweet. She warmly welcomed us, then left us alone I privacy for the entire weekend - except when she dropped off homemade kettlecorn! We loved it!

    Paula2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The estate was absolutely spectacular! The house is beautiful and the property and views are breathtaking. A great place to get away and enjoy the outdoors. The caretakers on the property made us feel welcomed with fresh flowers and were available for questions. Kitchen is great for cooking and enjoying a meal with friends. Adam was very helpful ahead of time and responsive to all questions. I would definitely recommend this home!

  • One of the most beautiful homes and properties I have ever visited. The views are really indescribable. The serenity and seclusion are second to none. Every room was well appointed, every feature was beautifully done and the house is very well thought out. Especially the common areas. Great place.

  • John and Jenna's Post & Beam house is a real treat! With all of the beautiful big windows it feels like you're comfortably nestled in the woods. The house was clean and neat, the two bedrooms were perfect. We loved the modern open design. The house is beautiful, functional, and very comfortable. We loved everything about this place and had a wonderful time! John and Jenna were great hosts! Communication was easy, and instructions for the house were clear. John went out of his way to return a book my niece left behind! We loved the Post & Beam house and would love to stay here again!

  • As a group of two mothers and four daughters, ages 7-10, we were looking for a quiet get-away out of the city and came across Jenna and John's. We couldn't have been happier. The home is lovely and even cozier than the photos. We loved eating outside by the forest for our meals, and the kids had a great time exploring the property and especially loved their "hike" down to the creek, where they played for hours. A highlight was also the nearby Queechy beach. The location was perfect -- central enough for us to easily enjoy Tanglewood, Queechy Lake, Chatham brewery, and Hawthorne Valley Farm. Jenna and John were great hosts, and when we did encounter a slight glitch on the 2nd day, they were very responsive in getting the problem solved quickly. We would definitely recommend!

    Sarah2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I just stayed here last weekend. Jenna and John's place is AMAZING!! Wonderfully secluded giving you that "lost in the woods" feeling yet right around the corner from Chatham which has lots of shopping and a fun main street. The house is very modern and well designed. It has huge beautiful floor to ceiling wrap around windows showing off the property, the interior design is really cute with lots of fun art and decoration, the kitchen has all the amenities you could need, and there's even a Nest thermostat to keep the place nice and cozy. The master bedroom has tons of bedding available with a washer dryer on the same floor. They even have a huge dog bed which our Westie loved. Book this place! We loved it so much we even extended our reservation for an extra day:-)

  • Great stay in the woods. Very quiet and peaceful.

    Tim2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous house in a beautiful part of eastern NY state on the edge of the Berkshires. The house is built in post-and-beam style, but don't let this fool you because it's completely updated. Granite countertops, new appliances, Ikea-esque decorations; the small touches like the Bose sound bar, doggie bed and power strip lining the kitchen counter were amazing. The owners left a wonderful manual detailing the area as well as the ins-and-outs of the house. The abundance of firewood and the amazing wood burning stove cinched it for us. Gorgeous place, beautiful wooded environment, close to the Berkshires, Jiminy Peak skiing and an abundance of hiking. There's a Welsh pub nearby called Peint O Gwrw in Chatham that is a must-visit!

  • Louis has a lovely house in a great spot, and he was very easy to contact, and very accommodating (considering we have two cats!). The property was very reasonably priced, and near to where we live, and so very convenient for an interim place to stay while moving. Unfortunately we were not on vacation, so didn't have time to visit the beautiful woods, fields and grounds, except from close to the house. If I didn't live here already, I'd definitely consider staying at his house again for a longer, more relaxing time. So, Thanks very much, Louis! You were very considerate and helpful, and we had a comfortable few nights in your house.

  • This house is beautiful, a little corner of heaven, green and peace if you want sometime to recharge. If you love cooking the kitchen is great and had a great windows which in the morning is lit with sunlight. The land is immense for walks, there is a little wildlife you might encounter. Louis is great to communicate with and will make sure all your questions will be answered. The house is well located, there are some great places to see and shops to check out (candle making, farm to table restaurants, farms and wineries).

    Arianna2015-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We just had the best experience possible. The house is beautiful and just the best. It was beyond our expectations based on the photo's: more secluded, more beautifully nestled, bigger and with more land. The house comes with a huge field and forest, and we saw so many birds, frogs, chipmunks, a groundhog, etc. We enjoyed the fire place in the beautiful living room, the luxurious bed rooms and bath rooms, and the large kitchen. Communication with Louis went very well, he responded very promptly and was clear and thorough in the information he provided. The hikes he recommended are all wonderful, especially the fire watch tower offers a stunning view. Me and my friends had a great stay, and we'd love to come back again!

    Sanne2016-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Louis' home! It is a beautiful setting that we all enjoyed exploring. The living room is a great spot to read & nap in the afternoon. We are already thinking about returning in the winter with our snowshoes!

    Gina2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Louis wasn't in the area while we stayed at his house, but he was very communicative and helpful nonetheless. The pictures of the house are on point. The kitchen is well stocked. We made every single meal there. Loved the wood-burning fireplace, plenty of blankets and lots of room to spread out. Would love to come back in the summer!

    Kim2016-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Louis was a fantastic host. Responsive to questions, extremely polite and friendly, and everything was detailed and easy.

  • As neophytes to the 'Universe of AirBnB' I beg your indulgence with this, our first review. First of all, Louis' house was exactly as portrayed and wonderful in all respects. Comfortable, cozy, charming, private yet convenient, and surrounded by all the charms an Upstate getaway should have. No one could reasonably wish for more. Coupled with a thoughtful and caring host, one only wishes the fleeting days of fall and your time in Louis' familial home could go on forever.Thank you for so generously sharing it all with us.

    Douglas2015-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in Louis' home. The king size bed was super comfortable and the house has tons of charm. Hiking the grounds (with helpful directions from the host) and relaxing in front of the fireplace were just a few of the highlights. Thanks for a great weekend!

Our place is on a quiet country road located between farms and rolling hills, about 3 miles from the quaint village of Chatham in the Hudson Valley. We're also just 25 minutes from Hudson and The Berkshires. Lots to do and see - or you can simply relax on our private back patio and listen to the birds.
  • Elaine's home is wonderful, quiet, very clean, and a few minutes drive to Chatham. We had a very restful night and we hope to return on future travels.

    Vanessa2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine's home is an absolute gem. While it is advertised as a room and private bathroom it is far more than that. Elaine spoilt us with fresh muffins, breakfast treats, and the ability to make tea (and coffee) in the room, with fresh milk in the mini fridge. Her home is perfectly located. We were able to head to the theater in Pittsfield, and Tanglewood the next day. Our one regret is that we only had one night in her home.

    Helen2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine was very welcoming and we felt at home right away. She offered suggestions about eating out and other activities and was all in all a most gracious and friendly host. The setting is quiet and surrounded by a park like property. We would definitely stay there again when in the area and recommend it highly.

    Katherine2016-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine and Mitchell were great hosts and made me feel at home. The house is in a quiet and secluded location. Wish I could have spent more than one night.

    David2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was a wonderful stay for my wife and I at Elaine's home. We felt like personal guests rather than strangers meeting at an Airbnb. The home and it's surroundings were extremely pleasant and relaxing. We had as much privacy as we wanted, but also had interesting conversations with Elaine and her husband. I could go on and on, but will stop now. :-)

    Andy2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Delightful stay in beautiful country road setting, lovely garden; Elaine made us very welcome, both in conversation and in leaving us homemade quiche and cereal, coffee, croissants, fruit, etc. in our room. Lovely room with private, renovated bathroom. Highly recommend this place!

  • Ken is a really nice host! He takes care of his guests really well and in the house you'll find a lot of advice concerning the house and the area. The house is a lovely place to stay. The weather wasn't too good, when we were there so we couldn't use the back porch and garden but the living room and kitchen is big enough and nicely decorated, which makes it very cosy and pleasant spending the evenings there. The trains are quite loud though and they drive during the night.. The first night we all woke up several times but kind of got used to it then and the two other nights were fine. But except for this, everything was more than fine. We had a really nice stay!

    Teresa2015-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Ken was attentive and hospitable. He left coffee, tea and some very nice local bread and dairy for us to use. The upstairs bedroom was hot during the day (weather was in the 90's and only a room AC in a downstairs bedroom) but that is unusual for this area so don't let that stop you from renting this house. A beautiful experience.

    Robert2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Ken's house was fantastic! The home is lovely and comfortable and fit our needs perfectly for a group of four. We loved watching the many different birds from the windows and deck and felt as if we were in the tree tops. Ken was more than accommodating, leaving us breakfast foods and information on nearby attractions. I would definitely recommend Ken's Berkshire haven.

    Kayla2016-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Ken was a fantastic host. His house looked beautiful with plenty of lights on upon our arrival. Linens were all fresh and plentiful and the house was immaculate. Delicious fresh granola, fresh strawberries, milk and farm fresh eggs were there to partake of. Great music which we enjoyed was at the ready on the stereo. We were able to enjoy a nice campfire outside in the beautifully kept backyard and explored the woods on the property with the children on our last day. Ken was readily available on each day for all of our questions and even the last minute ones when he had already said our goodbyes and thought of the last one at the last moment. We visited Queechy Lake nearby and kayaked which Ken let us use his as a third to our two as well as lawn chairs and blankets. Last day we visited Tanglewood moments away and enjoyed the music stylings of Mr. Tony Bennett and his daughter Antonia. We would love to and look forward to staying here again train whistle in the background and all.

    Bruce2014-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Ken was a FABULOUS host! He was very easy to communicate with prior to our arrival. His home is just about as quaint and wonderful as they come. It is located very near to Kripalu (15 minutes), making it quite convenient for our stay. The home is clean, cozy, and well maintained. It was a perfect accommodation with a lovely kitchen, back porch, and a wood burning stove. We would absolutely love to stay here again when we are in the area.

    Rachel2015-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a relaxing time at Ken's home. The location was perfect for us, about 8 min drive to W. Stockbridge - 20 min to Lennox and Great Barrington. Lake Queechy is a short drive away and we had access to the private beach at Adam's Point by virtue of our stay at Ken's. My husband swam in the lake every day. It's clean and uncrowded. The house was spotlessly clean and really well equipped with everything we could possibly need, right down to beach chairs and a kayak. We used the BBQ on the deck many times and I regret that we didn't get to use the fire pit - maybe next time! Every day I was enthralled by the beautiful birds that frequent Ken's well stocked bird feeders. There were plenty of clean towels, linens and all the basic foodstuffs in the kitchen. It made our stay a great pleasure. Ken was around and it was lovely to share a glass of wine with him on our first night. Saying that, he respected our privacy at all times. I would absolutely recommend this rustic Berkshire retreat.

    Lyn2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Ken's house last weekend. The house is situated on the edge of a lovely ravine with an open floor plan, gas fireplace, and big kitchen. Ken had left us a yummy loaf of whole wheat bread, butter, granola, and milk for our stay - a great touch! The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. We definitely hope to stay at Ken's house again. ps - Others have commented on the train noise. Coming from the City we didn't mind it at all. But for those sensitive to background noise, we noticed Ken left earplugs by every bed.

    Betsy2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Ken's home is beautiful, comfortable and close to swimming, shopping, hiking and more. We had an amazing time exploring, cooking meals with local ingredients and sitting by the campfire in the evening. Great experience!

All of the small details were considered to make for such an easy and enjoyable experience. Although we didn't leave the house much, their recommendations for things to do around the area wee great!

  • Amanda and John's barn is a lovely and special place. It was incredibly clean with high-end appliances and finishes. Truly beautiful. The patio and yard were equally lovely, and the street is a picturesque country road. Good location -- 20 minutes to several towns in the Berkshires, also to Hudson, NY. Chatham is close, too, with easy access to grocery store. John was very attentive and easy to reach when we thought we had a problem (we didn't, but he was responsive in clearing things up!). The bed situation worked for our family, but I could see how it could be less-than-ideal for some (only the master bedroom is truly private, as the rest of the beds are in open spaces). I can't say enough how nice the main living space, yard/property and surrounding area is. It's a gem!

    Jaime2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is very beautiful and great for large groups. Our pups really loved to play in the backyard. The pictures do not do enough justice to show just how nice the home is on the inside. Would love to come back.

    Rebecca2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the Barn! Just perfect for us and our 4 kids. Better than advertised!

    William2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing family weekend at this stunning property. The pictures do not fully capture just the pure magic of this converted barn. It should be featured in architectural digest. The hosts are also delightful. We cannot wait to return.

    Helime2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures of John and Amanda's place don't do it justice. The home is absolutely stunning and surpassed our expectations in every way. The barn is beautifully decorated and looks out on a lovely wooded area that is great for exploring - our dogs loved playing in the stream running through the property despite the snowy weather. The second floor of the loft is stunning and the kitchen was well equipped with high end appliances. John and Amanda were lovely hosts - very responsive and gracious in all of our exchanges. During our stay, we ran into John and told him how much we were enjoying curling up on the sectional, watching movies using the projector/screen in the evenings. A few minutes later, he thoughtfully dropped off a pile of additional movies for us to enjoy. We are definitely planning to come back, explore more of the local area (Chatham, the nearest town, is adorable - try the People's Pub) and enjoy the scenery, inside and out.

    Shannon2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at the barn. It was such a cool space, relaxing and on a quiet road, and I agree that the pictures do not do it justice. The upstairs was a big open room with a loft and a wall of windows looking out to the woods. The downstairs included an open kitchen, a bedroom with big windows that make you feel like you're outside, and two bathrooms, one with a soaking tub. It's in a great location, near hiking, swimming, museums, Kripalu, Tanglewood, and Jacob's Pillow. We look forward to visiting again!

    Jesse2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • A very private and immaculately presented barn. You would not find a better built barn in the Berkshires. The finishes and features are very high end, with no expense spared. The barn still presents as new. It has a beautiful outlook, with a large deck flowing off the lounge area, with large sliding doors. All windows have fly/bug screens, so we always had a nice breeze flowing through. Unlike most barns, it has large windows which let in an abundance of light and created a warm relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a wine or coffee. The owners, John and Amanda, take great pride in their barn, and were always quick to respond and help out with our special requests. We really enjoyed our time there and will definitely be back. Thanks John and Amanda.

Enjoy summer in the Berkshires/Columbia County in our old country house. Located in hamlet of Canaan NY, on 6 acres with woods and trail. Easy walk to tennis courts and basketball court. Nearby lake for swimming and boating. Near some great towns and cultural attractions. This is not a fancy stylish house - it is a comfy house full of books and places to sit and read. Well stocked kitchen. A great place to relax to with family and friends, or on your own.
Queechy Lake is a truly special place, there's a beach with a lifeguard and swimming and a boat dock. We are only a few minutes from Chatham, NY - a town with GREAT coffee, a WONDERFUL movie Theatre, a brewery, yoga, and dancing. Tanglewood, Shakespeare and Co., Jacob's pillow, Kripalu, are only a few of the many nearby cultural attractions.
  • William met us at the house upon our arrival and answered all questions we had. We loved the house, with its comfortable rooms, fireplace, antique/vintage touches. I was from the Canaan/New Lebanon area and we stayed there to have a family reunion on Saturday. It was a perfect venue, we all loved it, especially enjoyed the fireplace on what was a cold January weekend! The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had all we needed. All and all it was a terrific stay. Even enjoyed the train!

The photographs do not convey adequately the spaciousness, charm and comfort of this house. The train, added to the charm and even the lightest sleepers slept soundly in this relaxing space. The porches are wonderful and the road is really quiet. We all wished we could spend a lot more time at the house just to peruse, lounge about and read the many interesting books on the shelves. Our three year even found books to read! Many interesting things to do in the area.

  • Extremely well-equipped, comfortable, homey house. Very clean. We rented it for a holiday weekend, weather wasn't great, but we enjoyed hanging out in this home. Grounds were nice. Plenty of room for everyone. William is an excellent host - great communication and dealings. We enjoyed the area, and would definitely come back to this area and house. A great Airbnb experience...

  • William is new to being an Airbnb host, so we went out on a limb and booked without seeing any reviews. We were rewarded by a wonderful, charming place that exceeded all expectations. In fact, I call it the "Quintessential American Vacation Home." Inside it's full of the character you'd expect in a 100+ yr old place that's been lovingly furnished and decorated over the years by William and his family. There's loads of room for your family to spread out downstairs (including a screened porch), all 5 bedrooms are comfortable and private, and bathrooms are clean and bright. Outside, the scenery is magical. The multi-acre grounds are meticulously landscaped and the enormous back yard is nestled into a picturesque rolling Berkshire hill. Arriving on a humid late July day, we were pleasantly surprised that our host, William, had thoughtfully left on the central A/C - upstairs and downstairs - so the home was refreshingly cool and dry. (You don't expect that in an old country house.) He even left out a bottle of wine to welcome us. The location is excellent, just 17 minutes from Tanglewood, and near great shops and restaurants. There is also a fantastic swimming lake (Queechy) a couple of minutes away. The only drawback, which William amply discloses in the listing, is the railroad running in back of the properties across the street, with a crossing down the block at the old village center. The railway actually adds to the charming, old New England feel of the town. Frankly, the noise of a passing train is only a bother if you're sitting out in front of the house facing the street. No problem if you're out back or inside, especially if you close the windows and use the A/C.

  • Wonderful property and a wonderful host.

  • We had a great weekend stay at William's home. It was like staying at a friend's house in the country :) There were five of us and we had so much room to spread out. We especially loved the screened in porch. What a lovely place to relax at days end. The central air conditioning was an absolute plus given the hot August temps. We would definitely rent again if we are in the area.

    Jamie2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • William's house was perfect for our family trip - tons of space, a screened-in porch to sit outside well into the night without bugs, and A/C! The lake nearby was easy to drive to. We were only about 20 minutes away from Tanglewood (the main reason for booking the house) and we were able to take back roads to/from the venue and pretty much missed all of the traffic after the concert. There are train tracks across the street from the house (behind another house), which was a bit loud when train honked, but no one woke up in the middle of the night from it, including the 15-month old. William was a great host - very friendly and willing to share ideas of places to go explore in the area. We'd definitely stay at the house again for our next trip out!

This 1920 cottage borders on 800 acres of land conservancy and overlooks some of the best views in Columbia county. It's cozy, while providing all the modern comforts for a relaxing stay in any season. Saltwater pool, Fall foliage, and Winter skiing.
With gorgeous views, adjoining hundreds of acres of protective farms and estates, this wonderful home is a welcome sanctuary ~ just 2 + hours from NYC. Bright, open kitchen and dining room that seats 8. Stone walkways, lush plantings, and a heated salt water swimming pool.
Premier location in Old Chatham, just minutes from the Village of Chatham and the Hamlet of Old Chatham. Visit the Crandall Movie theater or dine at The Blueplate in Chatham, or turn left out of the driveway to the Old Chatham Country Store for a great breakfast or dinner.
  • After a dreary few week in NYC, we anxiously drove through the picturesque route to "Country Splendour". We were not disappointed! The house sits on a magnificent country road, just a few miles from the quaint little town of Old Chatham. The house itself was very comfortable for 2 couples, but I can imagine it would be comfy for a much larger group as well. The furnishings are eclectic and inviting, with a mix of Asian, rural and antiques. The kitchen is the size of my whole apartment and features a very large table and chairs, plus windows on three sides looking toward the pool and beyond. There is a deck off the kitchen, but this being January, it was a little cold to hang out there too much. The view behind the house is really spectacular, and is completely unspoiled, with one gorgeous old house way off in the distance. The living room had over stuffed sofas and an incredible reclining chair, in which I took up residence. There is even a piano for tipsy singalongs! Beds, linens and towels were all first rate. Making arrangements with Greg, the owner/host, was a delight, as he was completely responsive. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to return in the summer to enjoy the gorgeous pool!

  • We loved our stay here. You cannot beat the wonderful pool, views, and walking trail the backyard has to offer.

    Maria2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Country Splendour was an ideal home and setting for our family reunion. Greg was very thoughtful in asking about our needs, and his house was very accommodating and well equipped. The view is beautiful and the heated pool a delight. We highly recommend it and would come again. Reed

    Reed2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Greg's place for the weekend with 4 other friends. It was absolutely perfect! The listing is EXACTLY as pictured. The house was immaculate - Margarita, the house keeper, welcomed us and everything we needed was readily available. The house is perfectly suited for a small group or a family, with two grills, a fully equipped kitchen, perfect sleeping arrangements, tons of outdoor space and a heated pool. Check in/check out was a breeze. The house has a beautiful view, 5 mins from town and 10 mins to the grocery store. I would highly reccomend this place - a relaxing getaway weekend! Thanks Greg!

    Ariel2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful home is packed with antiques and artwork but always feels relaxed. The pool was warm despite the overcast weather and the deck is a brilliant place to watch the sunset. The views are expansive and the house is cozy. We didn't explore the area because we were so happy just to stay in the house and garden and chill. Lovely place.

    Richard2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the Country Splendour. The house is very nice and functional. The view is awesome. The heated pool was my favorite feature though. In my places I've rented in the past, the water was too cold to really enjoy it. This makes a huge difference.

    Alexandre2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house was absolutely perfect and our family had a great time. The house met all our needs, it was well equipped and as described in the posting. It was really "Country Splendor" with a gorgeous view, everyone enjoyed morning, noon and night! Our kids( 2 and 5 ) did not want to leave the heated pool. The house was very clean and the kitchen includes anything you would need to entertain. The large dining room and outdoor deck was an added bonus with the terrific view! Greg made our stay easy and fun, he provided plenty of information about local interests and food options. As a family with young children grocery shopping was easy with supermarkets and farm stands close by. Thank you Greg for a great visit!

    john2015-08-19T00:00:00Z

  • Rebecca is a warm and generous spirit and this is reflected in every aspect of the home she has lived in for 34 years and counting. She and her partner Bob are knowledgeable, enthusiastic hosts - their every tip was spot-on and our visit to Catskills and the Berkshires was all the more memorable for their recommendations. AND they serve an exemplary breakfast to set you up for the day - a novelty given our experience with Airbnb to date. Too bad we couldn't have stayed a few more days.....

    Nicholas2013-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great 4th of July weekend at Becky's serene beautiful Berkshire setting. Becky and Bobby made great hosts, full of helpful suggestions for getting the most out of our visit to the region. They prepared a delicious, generous breakfast every morning, with the flexibility of working around our schedule. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay, and would strongly recommend that anyone planning a trip to the Berkshires consider setting up their headquarters chez Becky.

    Ryan2015-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Serene and beautiful indeed. Becky's place was just as advertised. I especially enjoyed the generous view from the bathroom shower over an expanse of snow-covered winter wonderland. Swinging in the chair hammock took a close second! We stayed with Becky during a last-minute ski weekend, and the accommodations worked out perfectly. Becky and Bob were wonderful hosts, friendly and interesting, we enjoyed our conversations over coffee and felt comfortable and welcome. Thank you!

    Matthew2015-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with Becky & Bob for 3 nights. They were warm and welcoming hosts with whom we enjoyed hanging out. They even offered to make us breakfast. They have a beautiful, comfy house in a lovely wooded setting that's a pleasure to spend time in. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable and our 8 year old loved the glow-in-the-dark stars in "her" room. We especially liked the funky (in the best sense) bathroom. If and when we return to the area, we would love to stay with them again.

    John, Lisa and Greta2013-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca and Bob are great hosts. We had an opportunity to chat with them about the area and find out the history of the home. Our room was comfortable and had a temper pedic mattress which was super comfy. You can hear all the night creatures at night and see the stars due to the lack of light pollution. You feel like your in the country. Shower was hot and powerful and if inclined to take a bath, there is a deep tub with epson salts to soothe your achy bones after a long hike. One of the things we enjoyed the most was a private pass to the Adams Point Beach. Its a private beach and Becky provides a pass to get there. Gave us time to relax instead of going off to one of the tourist attractions. If you have a kayak which we didn't, the lake is perfect for doing so. Bottom Line - If you are looking for a place to stay to get some reading done and want to be near all the attractions, Becky and Bob's place is the one.

    Howard2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts were incredibly hospitable and very, very helpful - making sure that we found a place to eat for dinner that would accommodate my celiac disease - and they served a wonderful (gluten free for me!) breakfast... We highly recommend this charming location.

    Barbara2017-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Becky and Bob were immaculate hosts. Bob waved at us from the garden as we drove in, and Becky met us at the door. She showed us in and then helped us straight away with planning our visit, showing us her stacks of pamphlets advertising local theaters, parks, etc. Talking with Becky over tea or breakfast was a cozy and homey part of our stay. She both doted on us and let us roam. The location is ideal for exploring both the northern and southern sections of Berkshire county. The nearby private town lake that Becky's residence gives you access to is delightful, even warm. The bed was comfortable and the room was cool with the fan on during the summer evenings. I liked how the bathroom was attached to the room, and the stone shower stall was charming. We felt at home from the moment we arrived until we left.

Located in the Hudson Valley and near the Berkshires this lovely hillside house built in the 1850's sits on 11 acres of hidden gardens, an apple orchard and woodlands. A tranquil place to escape to and enjoy nature.
Spend time exploring and enjoying the many gardens on the property from the apple orchard, Zen Garden, flower beds, promenade of giant pine trees, the great hillside lawn and the 5 acres of woodland. Relax in the spacious 3500sq ft home made for entertaining large groups of friends and family or a tranquil private getaway. There is a beautiful fireplace for cold evenings and comfy couches to snuggle on or read a good book, which you will find many of in the grand old library. The 9 foot long dining table seats 12 and the well stocked kitchen is made for feasting and dining. The home feels light and airy with large windows open to the beautiful views of the land in every room. Four large bedrooms, means there's plenty of room for everyone and we've made sure that each bed will give you best sleep you've ever had! And we are happy to convert the library into the fifth bedroom for larger groups. There are hammocks to contemplate on, swings on the apple trees for the kids or to feel free like a kid and many board games and outdoor games to keep everyone busy....we are parents so we know how important this is! The best part about this space....we think is watching the dazzling Hudson Valley sunsets on the hilltop of this great lawn. With the mountains as a backdrop and the tall trees surrounding the property, it is truly inspiring each time we see it. To top it off, this is also the area we have set up for a fire pit and outdoor dining, so you can watch the sun set whiles having a drink in one hand and s'mores in the other...cheers!

  • We spent a great long weekend here with our 2 1/2 year old daughter and with friends and their 3-year old daughter. It was a perfect stay. The living areas of the house are beautifully (and quirkily - is that a word?) furnished and decorated (one of the owners must be an artist, as there was fabulous and fun artwork throughout the house). There were plenty of beds, all of which were very comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped for dinners in (even an excellent kitchen knife - such a luxury in a rented house!). The house is bright and airy and very clean. Our girls loved the games in the library and running around the gardens during the day and chasing fireflies at night. The house is conveniently located for trips into Lenox or Stockbridge, or up to Ioka Farms or MassMoCA. One note - the house might not be for light sleepers, since although the area is quiet, it is near a rail line and the trains blow their horns even at night. We slept through it, but it might wake a light sleeper. Huong was so helpful with recommendations for local grocery shopping, restaurants and things to do in the immediate area.

    Michelle2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Huong was great and provided all necessary background information well in advance of our travels. The property is breathtaking and has plenty of amenities for big groups (fire pit, BBQ, large rooms). It was a smooth trip, and we would definitely return!

    Laura2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cute house in the Berkshires! We went during the winter to take our kids skiing at the Bousquet Ski Area which was only 15 minutes away. Huong was a terrific host who did a great job telling us about the house and the area around it. We had a few questions in the beginning and she was quick to respond. Her house is beautifully decorated with quirky, artsy pieces. There are a lot of original details in the home. We loved the choices in wallpaper she chose for some of the rooms. We had two families staying in the house and the layout was perfect for us. We were a little nervous about only having one full bathroom for 9 people but it has two sinks so it was never really an issue. Would definitely love to come back when the weather is nicer to enjoy the grounds!

    Anh2017-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely and eclectic country home, wonderful furnishings and art, very comfortable, great yard! Huong was very responsive and communicative, we had a great and easy stay!

  • Huong is a great host, very caring and responsive. We really enjoyed the warmth and coziness of Huong's house and will be back!

    Sophie2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cannot say enough positive things about our stay here. I have an almost 2 year old and a 5 year old and the house and grounds were perfect for enjoying and exploring. The house itself is very spacious yet has a perfect balance of being both open and providing areas for privacy. The beds were extremely comfortable and there are an abundance of amenities that I haven't seen at other Airbnb places. (Hand towels and wash cloths!) We could have spent everyday doing art projects and making s'mores out on the long table on the hill, or at that great little beach at Queechy Lake, but it was super easy getting to favorite haunts in Great Barrington and West Stockbridge as well as Jacob's Pillow and Tanglewood. We definitely will be back!

    Nicole2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great spot for a friends getaway or a family reunion! There was plenty of room for all 8 adults to enjoy a family-style meal at the dinner table, sit around the fire, and lounge on the porch -- but sufficient space to spend time alone, reading in the window seat, lazing in the hammock, or enjoying the grounds. We hope to come back again!

    Elizabeth2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Huong's home was extremely spacious for our large group. There were 4 large rooms upstairs and the library downstairs, which was converted into a bedroom for us. It was a great home base for our Tanglewood weekend. Even though the weather was abnormally hot and rainy this past weekend, we still grilled and had great big family style meals in the large dining room. We totally would've utilized the outdoor dining table if weather permitted. The view is so beautiful from the table (and also the bedrooms). Huong was extremely helpful and responsive. Very nice house and very nice host. =)
