French Restaurant
$$$
“My weekend brunch spot (and probably everyone else’s in DC)! Great place to enjoy traditional French dishes in an almost perfect replica of a Parisian cafe! My personal favorites are the burger (if you haven’t experienced a French burger this is a must), chicken sandwich and fluffy pancakes. Pro Tip: Order a single pancake and the dish of your choice. It’s less expensive and you can try other items!”

Wine Bar

“This place is pretty popular right now. It has a high end feel, but you can still wear a button down or dress/jeans. You often will see exotic cars parked out front and the clientele reflects that. If you are in DC on a cool night, appetizers are excellent out on the front patio. High-end cocktails are the norm, but you may see some of the younger crowd line up some shots later in the evening. ”

“Busboys & Poets is so much more than a restaurant. Enjoy Poetry slams? Go to Busboys. Interested in partaking in community conversations surrounding social inequities? Go to Busboys. The food is good, but you get so much more here than a full stomach. ”

Bookstore

“DC’s rep as a well-read city is plain to see at Kramerbooks, where voracious readers fill up on political studies essays, literature, novels and travel guides, before filling up on food from the open-late, on-site Afterwords cafe. Another reason to visit: the steady lineup of readings from local and renowned authors.”

Whisky Bar

“This multi-faceted Adams Morgan bar and restaurant boasts 2,600 whiskies (and counting), many of which are prominently displayed in the main dining room and saloon, which also offers craft beers and cocktails. Downstairs, Dram & Grain deals in fancy cocktails in a speakeasy vibe (reservations required on weekends). An open-air roof deck sprawls across the third floor, which serves draft beer and allows for good people watching along 18th street below. The food menu features comfort fare such as buttermilk biscuits with ham and pimento cheese.”

Spanish Restaurant

“Spanish tapas and a creative set of drinks to choose from. I have hard time not trying one of their house made Slushitos. Nothing is cheap and everything is tasty. Keep heading up the street for a wealth of additional options. I'm a fan of Bar Pilar or go have a rooftop margarita at El Centro or Masa 14.”
